I FINISHED PIANO AND MY TEACHER SAID SHE WAS PROUD OF ME, AND I AM IMPROVING WELL, AND WAS MIGHTILY IMPRESSED SINCE THIS IS GRADE EIGHT I’M WORKING ON! I was so stunned that I just beamed and soaked in her praise. She even said in amazement: “How is your sight reading so good??” BEST piano lesson ever. Twelve year old me would have been so proud.

#piano lessons #piano #I credit this achievement to falling in love with Donna Tartt #And classics #And classical music as a whole #So I’ve been listening to beyond grade eight piano music and you wouldn’t believe how easy my grade eight pieces seem #Ahhhhhhhh #thing is I disliked and feared my piano teacher for her strictness #My sister dropped out grade 3 #BUT NOW WE HAVE AN AMICABLE RELATIONSHIP #maybe she will write me a reference???#Pretty please #and AND AND AND she said that I should perform in a festival for her #It sounds scary #But I gotta get my playing in public skills up yk?#And I realised recently that piano is something I want to do for the rest of my life :’))#Gotta put much effort into it #And grow while I’m still being taught #And then I can play!!! Ahhhhhhhhh #Best ever!!! AHHHHHHHHHH

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

#i often wonder about how many things would be considered classic or high art had they only received the marketing #how many short films that were made for class could have been the most powerful thing you'd ever seen? if you'd seen them?#“you know the greatest films of all time were never made” etc etc #but like. these works of art ARE being made. it's just enjoyed by a smaller audience with equal impact though #i think about this one furry i used to follow on insta who had the coolest worldbuilding ever. it's been years.#thought prompted by that sketch of nimona from ten years ago that was just for a character design #posted to the creator's tumblr and now it's nominated for best animated feature film at the oscars #and by the genuine emotional reaction a fan comic made me feel. how much work had gone into it. how beautiful it was to me.#idk what to tag this but i hope whoever needs to hear it does #writing #writer #fandom #fandom culture #artist

genuinely, i think watching live theatre can improve your media literacy so much

like people who look at doctor who and are like 'lol the effects are so rubbish'

maybe watch a stage play where there's no backdrops and half the characters are played by the same three guys in different hats and maybe you will calm down

I adore this recent trend (if that's the right word) of letting an orchestra play classical music on a festival. It's magical to see thousands of festival-goers going absolutely wild on Beethoven. Mosh/circlepits, crowd surfing. It's wonderful to see the orchestra and the audience having the time of their lives.
