i think everyone forgets what a good movie ant-man was and how it had everything a marvel movie needed.
✓ cohesive plot that actually makes sense ✓ fleshed-out side characters that add depth to the story and protagonist ✓ an antagonist with a good/real motive ✓ being funny, but not at the cost of the story and not for simple comedic relief ✓ character interactions that makes sense (*cough*whatthefuckwasthemorbiusendcreditsscene*cough*) ✓ plot points that draw on human emotion
i love scott lang, our anti-capitalist king and bestest father in the world. i love luis, the heart and comedy of the story, the person who stuck by scotty the entire time. i love cassie, the adorable daughter of scott who refused to believe that the father who was always there for her was a bad person. i love the comparison of hope and darren, how they were treated by hank and how they decided to handle their betrayl (with darren cross being the "bad" and hope pym being the "good"). i love hope pym, the woman still grieving for her mother, finding forgiveness in her heart for the father that pushed her away but inevitable still cares for her. i love the campiness of luis' narration style. i love love LOVE the ant-man movie, it is definitely one of my favorite marvel films.

Also a lot of people seem confused as to why Cassie telling MODOK he wasn't bad was important. It's because until he came to the Quantum Realm, he didn't see himself as the villain. He knew attacking Cassie to get to Scott was bad, but justified it to himself.
As a result, he is physically torn apart and then into some weird suit. Kang made him into this creature. Makes him kill people. He failed at the multiple selves task. He's a puppet now. He used to be a CEO.
His life went down a dark path. When he attacked Cassie was when it veered onto that path. So her saying he's not that bad vindicates that the villainous stuff was Kang's fault (it's not all Kang's fault; he still tried to kill a child but it's pretty different level bad).
I'm not saying it was a well-done fleshed out role and I bet Corey Stoll is waiting for his Oscar nom. But I saw what they were going for. He wanted to be a hero and ended up a villain.

Villain Breakdown: Yellowjacket
This movie is about Hank's alienated relationship with his daughter and his surrogate son. Darren Cross fills the role of the son. Hank took Darren on as his apprentice because of nepotism; He saw himself in Darren. But he broke things off because he saw too much of himself in Darren.
This is as close as Hank gets to self-reflection in the film, but it covers the important bits. Darren and Hope act as foils to one another; They have a mutual bad experience with Hank, whose emotional distance drove them both away. This provides them with something to bond over; Or, at least, Darren thinks so.
But where Darren would reinvent Hank's greatest technology for profit, Hope... Does not want to do that. Honestly, that's as deep as it gets. Darren wants to sell Hank's Pym Particles as a weapon and Hope thinks that's a bad idea.
It's an okay setup for the conflict between Hope and Darren, centered around the Pym Particle and to a greater extent, their disparate feelings for their neglectful father figure.
Unfortunately, this movie isn't about Hope. She barely gets to do anything in it.
This movie is about Scott. And the only relationship Scott and Darren have is strictly one-sided. Darren resents Scott for being the beloved and accepted son to Hank that he wasn't allowed to be. And Scott... Isn't that? Scott barely knows Hank. Darren hates him based on a wild assumption, and this is the only connection our hero and villain have.
So on paper, Darren is the film's Obadiah Stane. But in practice, he's more like Ronan or Malekith; A one-note bad guy with no real relationship to the hero, meant to just serve up some action while the real plot is happening. But he's directly involved in the real plot and its themes. So it's weird and doesn't really come together well.
In terms of personality, Darren is unbelievably shallow. He tries to capture some of Stane's sense of history and even goes for a bit of pathos, but it falls flat because his character is so shamelessly wicked. He's a lunatic and a madman who kills a guy ten minutes into the film. Why? Because he's just crazy.
No, seriously, that's the explanation. Pym Particle exposure has affected his brain and made him crazy, so he murders people at the slightest provocation. I guess a corrupt billionaire wasn't enough for this movie, so they had to go the extra mile and make him a one-dimensional chemical sociopath like the Joker.
So what we're left with is an uninspired Crazy Murderer bad guy with a deep emotional connection to the wrong hero, gesturing vaguely at the tiniest strands of a parallel to the guy the movie's actually about for the sake of trying to be anything more than just a random evil dude.
Setting up villains with the same powers as the hero worked in Phase 1 because of the important themes and parallels explored through the relationship between those characters. Darren Cross is the point where it's starting to wear thin.

I Grade: Yellowjacket
Tumblr media
Appearance: I don’t like it at all. It looks too robotic, and we just had a robotic baddie!
GRADE = 1
Performance: Corey Stoll gives a solid performance. Not groundbreaking, but not terrible.
GRADE = 3
Motivation: We’re all the way back to money and power. The only reason I won’t give this a 1 is because Cross at least seems to convince himself that his desires are altruistically motivated and not just basic greed and the desire for respect from those around him.
GRADE = 2
Villainy: For the most part, he’s just an average villain. He does get pretty nasty at the end, though, when he goes after Scott Lang’s young daughter. The willingness to harm an innocent child honestly makes him far more reprehensible than his wider-scale ambitions.
GRADE = 3.5
Resolution: During their final battle, Ant-Man causes his suit to malfunction and he ends up getting trapped inside the Quantum Realm. It’s about what you would expect his fate to be.
GRADE = 3
Overall Grade: 2.5; he was certainly a villain that happened, all right.

Saved post from old blog 2/?
*From Spider-Man Anon who asked if I ever second guess choices I’ve made as Ant-Man*
Okay, so yeah, questioning yourself is normal. In this line of business, sometimes we deal with big moral questions, you know?
Tumblr media
Like this:  after what I did with Cross the Yellowjacket, I had to grapple with the fact that I did that. I…well, I killed him. To protect my daughter and the rest of my loved ones. And I really struggled with it. I don’t regret protecting my kid, but I wondered if there was any other way.
In the end, there wasn’t. I realize that now. He was too far gone. I don’t really think any help could have gotten would have done him any good. He needed to be stopped.
Do I wish I could have spared him and saved Cassie at the same time? Yeah. Hell yeah. I don’t kill. Not my thing. But I had to make a tough call in the moment, and the route I took was the only one available.
Questioning yourself, in my opinion, is a good thing. If you did whatever and not questioned your methods and morals, then something would definitely be wrong. That just puts us on the same level as the bad guys. Based on what you said, I think what you did the right thing. And you questioning it only means you’re making sure you did what was right.

The Invention Left By A Little Stark-book 2 Chap 2: The Presentation
Pairing: Tony Stark & daughter!Reader, Darren Cross & anonymous men, wolfgang von strucker and Dr. List Summary: Secret Meeting somewhere in San Frascisco Warning: Animal experimentation, Daddy issue
Co author with: callikc PREVIOUS NEXT Tag:  @venomsvl  @geeksareunique @huntective-kyeo, @klc13, @natsbiggestfan1, @carellmcu, @laura-naruto-fan1998, @fansformentalydistroyedmen The passing of a year is a tricky thing.
Sometimes it can go by in an instant and sometimes it can drag on in the most mundane fashion known to man. There really is no middle ground. In some places it passes faster and in some it takes forever.
Tumblr media
The city of San Francisco had its year in a flash. It was always busy. It was a big place after all, not a resort, so it was crowded all the time. Fisherman's Wharf and some other tourist-centric areas were probably a bit more busy, but one doesn't really notice the crowds in the neighborhoods.
It was filled with life.
On one particular late afternoon there were slightly less cars buzzing around. People were hanging out in bars before the weekend and the young adults were going out with their friends.
Overall it had an almost calm vibe.
However, the main focus would have to be great big headquarters in the middle of the concrete jungle. Suits and egos and not a smile that wasn't painted on.
Cross Tech.
The interns had been dismissed already, the day employees were skipping off home after a grueling day, and the only signs of life were the patrolling security guards practically armed to the teeth.
Only one man was moving around inside the entire building. That was in the presentation room.
CEO, Darren Cross.
Tumblr media
He was clicking through a video, explaining his latest innovative design while on a hologram call with several others. In the center of the room was a microscopic super suit.
"Well, I was inspired by the legend of the Ant Man." He was explaining to the call party. "And with my breakthrough shrinking inorganic material I thought 'could it be possible to shrink a person? Could that be done?' Well... It's not a legend anymore."
His entire face was lit up and he looked positively ecstatic at his own apparent brilliance.
Since he was alone in the room, he had no choice but to observe the holograms for a reaction. Some seemed hesitant, some seemed intrigued, and some simply just looked like they would rather be anywhere else but there.
"Distinguished guests, I am proud to present the end of warfare as we know it." He stepped to the side to reveal the tiny suit inside its container. "The Yellowjacket."
Tumblr media
The front screen of the container zoomed in to allow the conference better viewing. It was intricate and seemed flawless, yellow with black accents. It resembled a wasp or a bee, especially with the extra pairs of mechanical arms sticking out of the back.
"The Yellowjacket is an all-purpose weapon of war, capable of altering the size of the wearer for the ultimate combat advantage."
Cross pressed the clicker in his hand and a new video began to play in the background with a narrator.
"We live in an era in which the weapons we use to protect ourselves are undermined by constant surveillance. It's time to return to a simpler age, one where the powers of freedom can once again operate openly to protect their interests. An all-purpose peacekeeping vessel - the Yellowjacket - can manage any conflict on the geopolitical landscape completely unseen."
The video began to show examples of the suit's capabilities, from shrinking to avoid weapon fire and lifting incredible weights to incredible surveillance and sneaking through locks and crevices anonymously.
"Efficient in both preventative measures and tactical assault, practical applications include surveillance, industrial sabotage, and the elimination of obstructions on the road to peace. A single Yellowjacket offers the user unlimited influence to carry out the protective actions. And one day soon, an army of Yellowjackets will create a sustainable environment of well-being around the world. The Yellowjacket."
The video ended with the display of Cross Technologies' logo.
After a moment of Cross staring up at everyone expectantly, one of the men finally spoke.
"This suit..." He struggled to think. "I find it hard to believe you've thought of everything."
Cross smirked. "Well, I did."
"This would be a huge advantage for our soldiers. Does it have any other abilities? How can it shrink with a wearer inside?"
"One at a time, please." The CEO chuckled. "The abilities are all as described in the presentation video. However, I believe with the proper application of resources and time we can further improve. As for shrinking organic matter, I've spent sufficient time studying and researching the particle to ensure all hazards are overcome and dealt with. I assure you, the risk is all but none. I've tried it myself."
"I trust you understand our reluctance." Another man from the call spoke up.
Cross nodded. "Which is why I prepared a demonstration."
"A... Demonstration?"
"Yes. Allow me."
He pressed another button on the clicker and stepped even further back into the room, allowing a second container to rise from the floor. Alongside the Yellowjacket suit was now a live lamb.
"Gentlemen... Prepare to witness history."
He took a Cross Tech tablet from a holder in the wall and began sorting through intense commands before finally finding what he was after. He set up the arms of the lamb's container and synced them to the tablet. When that was done, he tapped one of the vials of golden-yellow serum the arms held and then finally an action button on the tablet.
With a loud whirring that echoed within the room, the serum contained within the machine drained and eventually shot out in the form of beams. They engulfed the bleating lamb and in a bright flash, the animal and the container seemingly disappeared into thin air.
Cross wasn't deterred. He actually seemed proud.
This was proven to be valid when he leaned down and picked something up off the floor.
It was the lamb inside the container - both shrunken to something that could easily fit within a person's palm.
It worked.
Cross even flicked the container and watched in glee as the lamb jumped and hit the glass with a panicked bleat.
The room was silent.
"Speechless, huh?" Cross teased the members on call. "I was too."
"H-How?" One of the callers mumbled.
"I had a good mentor. Dr. Hank Pym, his name was."
"The Ant Man?"
"Yes, the Ant Man. He taught me everything, working for what used to be SHIELD and fighting against HYDRA. He was the founder of this company. When I took over for Dr. Pym I immediately started researching a particle that could change the distance between atoms while increasing density and strength."
He played one more video for the audience.
"The ultimate secret weapon. Why this revolutionary idea remained buried beneath the dust and cobwebs of Hank's research, I couldn't tell you. But just imagine. A soldier... The size of an insect"
The video displayed old footage of enemy militaries being beaten and wiped out by what seemed to be an invisible force. On the other hand, once zoomed in, the tiny silhouette of a man in a suit could be deciphered.
"Dr. Cross, I personally would like to know Dr. Pym's thoughts on this little project of yours." One of the callers said.
"As would I." Another agreed, soon followed by several more. "What about the leaks from last year?"
"I can't see him cooperating."
"I assure you Hank is not a threat." Cross told them, refusing to go into further detail. "He is very much alive and kicking but his opinions don't matter to this company anymore. It's mine now. You can thank his daughter voting against him for that. Gotta love a girl with daddy issues, am I right?"
Hank's daughter - Hope - while indeed having forced her own father into an early retirement, was not involved in this meeting. Cross trusted her, but still made sure she was on annual leave by the time this presentation was due.
As he continued to reassure and defend his Yellowjacket, there was something else in the room that everyone missed.
A little bug sticking to the wall.
It was a quiet thing as it rested there, almost as if it were observing Cross and his holographic companions. In fact, it actually seemed to be listening patiently as he promised to deliver suits overseas if the right price could be offered.
When everything seemed finalized, the bug took off and flew towards a small vent, easily slipping through the grates.
-
Across the globe in a snowy wasteland stood the now familiar Eastern-European castle.
Tumblr media
Baron Von Strucker and Dr. List traversed the gothic halls in deep conversation. Their voices were hushed but argumentative as they discussed the Yellowjacket suit they had just witnessed.
"I would advise against pouring money into this." Dr. List said. "This is a fruitless endeavor of chance and luck."
"Aren't all experiments?" Strucker shot back.
"I have to protest-"
"The deal will be done."
"If you would just listen-"
"It is done." He repeated more sternly.
"But we have what we need." Dr. List insisted. "We have armor and guns and tanks, and we have our own experiments. Our own success."
"And it will never be enough!" Strucker exclaimed. He took a breath afterwards, calming down. "Doctor, I appreciate the concern, but this suit will aid us. It will tip the scales in our favor as Tyche did for the Greeks."
"The others did not care for it."
"The others are idiots. Imagine yourself with this particle, imagine what this serum could do when combined with our own. Those abilities together... We would be gods!"
Dr. List was not in favor. He didn't trust the Pym particle to do its job. He was always one for science, but this seemed too risky.
Yet no one could argue with Strucker. Certainly not if they wished to keep their life.
"And Dr. Pym?" He questioned in the end. "What if the Avengers were to stand against us?"
Strucker merely laughed. "Pym is old and useless."
"But his daughter is involved with the company. If she were to-"
"She hates him. As for the Avengers?" He grimaced. "They are far too busy chasing wild geese and other strongholds. This isn't their jurisdiction or their business."
"So... We are safe?"
"Of course, doctor. There is no power on this earth that would make Hank Pym and the Avengers team up.”

So, my best friend and I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania for free thanks to a buddy who got us free admission vouchers. After some processing, I'd give it a 6/10 and it being a meh start to Phase 5. But there's a character that I wanna talk and that's MODOK.
*SPOILERS FOR ANT-MAN 3*
Let's be real here. MODOK wasn't gonna work in live action. At least, not in CGI. Cause dear lord, we laughed so hard when he was revealed without his mask on. My best friend said that he looked like Humpty Dumpty! I can't unsee that!😆 Like, MODOK in the Marvel's Avengers game was done better than the MCU version.
But, despite how goofy he looked, I hate that MODOK was Darren Cross from the first Ant-Man movie. He could've just died in that movie as Yellowjacket, but instead the Quantumania had him be found by Kang and remade him to be MODOK when he was all mangled up. Which is bullcrap cause it's supposed to be George Tarleton, leader of AIM(which I don't even know if t he MCU ever touched upon that criminal orginization). I don't know why this decision was made, nor do I know why he was even in this movie, cause you can replace him with someone else and there'd be no difference.
MODOK can be a threat in the comics and in some animated shows, despite how he looks. Here, he's just a minion and at times a punching bag and you can't really take him seriously, especially with his stretched out CGI'd face.
MODOK's butt.....why did that have to be shown? That didn't need to be seen.
Why does he keep taking his mask off nearly every time he's on screen?! He looked more menacing with it on than without it. Hell his voice module sounded more serious than his normal voice. Seriously, I keep laughing at how goofy he looks with that face.
In the movie, MODOK has a really bad redemption because Cassie told him to stop being a dick....I'm not kidding, that's how he's convinced to betray Kang. By not being a dick. 😆 I get that the movie was trying to have him be Darren again, his own person and not be a servant to a conqueror who didn't treat him well, but it could've been written better than "Don't be a dick, Darren!"
MODOK dies....yep. And, it's really really awkward. Cause he was saying stuff like he saw Scott as a brother to him and that he'll die as an Avenger before he died. And Scott, Hank, and Hope had to go along with it cause I think they feel sorry for them? It was really weird. Like, no way in hell that those things are true, especially all things he did before. Darren was gonna sell the Yellowjacket and the Ant-Man suits to Hydra and the Ten Rings, and he threatened to kill Cassie, Paxton (whose not in this movie for some reason), and other innocent people before he became MODOK. Hell, he tried to kill Cassie and Hank in this movie as well as helping Kang kill even more people in the Quantum realm! Why the hell would I feel sad for him dying when his redemption was poorly executed? Sorry, but I wasn't sad that he died.
But, yeah, MODOK was....that. And so much for him. This is one of those characters that wouldn't work in live action and should've stayed in the comics and animated shows. If you like this version of MODOK, that's fine, but I'm not a fan of this version.

What If…Pym Misplaced His Particle?
Tumblr media
Here’s a trippy new piece I did based on my earlier work, with Hope Van Dyne/Red Queen and Hank Pym as the Wasp in honor of the (late) anniversary of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which I have now fully developed into a What If…? Scenario.
——————
In this universe, shortly after Scott Lang is released from prison and goes to see his family and daughter Cassie, things take a turn for the worse when Cassie suffers a heart attack and needs to be hospitalized. After Cassie is treated and stabilized, the doctors tell Scott, Maggie, and Jim Paxton that the cause was some mysterious nanotech device near her artery valve. Upon closer examination of the x-rays and later the discs, they find a Pym Tech logo on each and every one of them.
Jim and Scott go to confront Hank Pym and interrogate him on his possible involvement. After showing him the Resizing discs they found from Cassie’s X-rays, Hank agrees to fill them on everything. After telling them the history of the Pym Particle and how he retired after Janet went subatomic, he shows them both the Ant-Man and prototype Wasp suit, telling Scott that he had him in mind for a successor since the Vistacorp burglary.
Hank then reveals the other potential culprits behind this: Mitchell Carson, Bill Foster, and Darren Cross. He also informs them that his daughter Hope can’t be a suspect since she died in this universe soon after Cross announced plans for the Yellowjacket armor, something he believes is connected to Cassie’s hospitalization. Jim and Scott decide to bring Hank along as a consultant to keep a close eye on him while they investigate further; Jim calls in his police friends to secure all of Hank’s assets and suits elsewhere as a precaution, and Scott enlists his Ex-Con friends Luis, Dave, and Kurt to keep tabs on any street news.
——————
Deciding to work their way up to Cross before they jump the gun, first on their list of suspects is Bill Foster, due to his involvement with Project G.O.L.I.A.T.H. Upon arriving and learning of his and Hank’s rivalry, Jim and Scott get right to questioning, They ask Bill about his whereabouts and his recent actions regarding the Pym Particles, to which Bill tells them he hasn’t been involved with anything regarding the Particles as he’s been busy tending to someone else.
That’s when Ava Starr phases in out of nowhere, about to kill Hank before Bill stops and talks her down. Upon realizing she’s Elias Starr’s daughter, he informs everyone how he and Janet confronted her father over his misuse of the Quantum Tunnel, leading to his accidental death and Ava’s molecular disequilibrium. A riled-up Ava chews him out for being responsible for Elias’ death, which causes her condition to flare up suddenly. As she makes her way to her Quantum Chamber, Bill explains the logistics of her condition as well as how the container operates to treat it.
As Ava’s being administered her quantum particles, Scott and Jim call Maggie about Cassie’s condition and the information they’ve gathered. Maggie tells them she’s fine, and that the police are keeping guard outside her room 24/7. Before they hang up, Maggie tells them that she did some digging regarding Hank’s past, and that Hope’s death happened in a car crash not too far from the Lang household. As they hang up with this new info in mind, Scott texts Luis about the location, telling him to look more into it.
That’s when alarms start going off from the chamber, and Hank notices something going wrong with Ava. He and Bill checks the schematics and sees that the chambers systems have been set in overdrive and are now overloading Ava with quantum energy. Bill tries to stop it, yelling for them to help, but to no avail. All Bill can do is watch as Ava screams for mercy as her body begins to tear itself apart from the inside. Then the chamber explodes, blasting everyone back, killing Ava in the process. Bill lays there in shock, horrified by how this happened, until Jim pins him to the ground, placing him under arrest as Bill shouts frantically that he’s innocent.
Hank and Scott just look on at the scene, knowing now that whoever’s after them was after more than just the simple particle. This was personal.
——————
Bill gets taken into custody as the group reviews the information regarding the murderer. They’ve yet to nail Darren Cross as their culprit since they don’t have any definitive proof it was him and not an imposter.
Things only get more intense when the Ex-Cons calls up Scott and tells them Luis heard from a street informant about a possible lead, which sends the cops over to an old S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse upstate. As the group checks in on them via camera feed, they all are shocked to find the body of Mitchell Carson, half his face burned off, ruling him out as a possible suspect.
Hank, while reviewing the evidence, laments to Scott over the disappearance of his wife and the death of his daughter, and how his life spiraled after that. He shares his regrets about creating the Pym Particle, calling it a doomed miracle that brings nothing but chaos wherever it brings. Hank tells Scott he chose him because he believed that perhaps Lang could succeed where he himself had failed, giving him the advice not to take his family for granted.
——————
Going in to interrogate Bill on the matter, the two of them discuss the reasoning behind the killer, correctly assuming that whoever’s after Hank is using these people to get to him, to break him down and weaken him. As the two of them chat, they remark about the old days and their partnership, and Hank apologizes if his temper did get the better of him then.
Before they can finish their talk, however, Bill collapses on the ground, suffering from a fatal heart attack. Hank and the others rush in to try and help save him, but it’s too late. As the medics try to save Bill, Hank notices a small figure leaping away through the doorway; they try to catch the figure but they are too late as it’s long gone.
——————
Now with no other leads and an official warrant, Hank, Scott, and Jim go to arrest Darren Cross for the murders committed. Scott tells Maggie, Cassie, and the Ex-Cons to stay alert and keep her eyes and ears open, and Hank gives him the Ant-Man suit as a precaution, telling him to stay close.
The group goes advances with their police team on the Pym Technologies Building, Darren barricades himself inside the Yellowjacket chamber, suiting himself up. As Hank, Scott, and Jim break into the containment unit, Darren starts attacking them, taking out guards lefts and right, with only Scott managing to stop him from killing his friends.
As Darren gets back up, however, a malfunction starts to go off in his suit. His Pym Particles start to alter his size uncontrollably, shrinking and growing different parts of his body. The others watch in horror as the Yellowjacket begins to grow into an amorphous mass, his screams echoing throughout the building, before exploding in a mass pile of smoke and blood. Everybody watches on in shock, before immediately moving to arrest a now dumbstruck Hank Pym, as he is the only suspect left they have.
——————
A confused and worried Hank tries to tell Scott and Jim that he’s innocent, that he didn’t kill them, but neither of them are having any bit of it. The mood stays tense until they get a face-time call from Luis, Kurt, and Dave, who said they found something interesting at Hope’s death site. Kurt and Dave double-checked the impact on the tree where the car crashed, and they found out it doesn’t match the ones normally found at these kind of crashes; they say it almost looked like someone blew it up from the inside.
The news sends Hank into a panic. He tells Luis and Ex-Cons to get out of there now, but it’s too late, as the phone goes dark and screams are heard from the other side. The trio rush over to the crash site, trying to save them, but arriving too late to save them as the trio lay dead before them.
Hank rushes over to the tree stump where the crash happened, using a Resizing disc to open it up. Scott then enters it to find massive laboratory inside the tree, with computers and generators shrunken down to fit inside. They also find a mysterious layout of the city sewer system and where they all connect to where they’ve been chasing the killer. Scott checks the computers, confirming that the killer had been keeping tabs on them since the Yellowjacket announcement, and that revenge on Hank Pym and his legacy was their real target. Knowing now who the killer is, they rush over to the hospital, calling Maggie to get Cassie to safety.
When they get to the hospital though, they find a swarm of police officers surrounding it, and a wounded Maggie being hysterical. Scott and Jim ask her what happened, and they learn that the killer knocked her out as she tried to get Cassie out of the hospital, and she woke up alone only to find a note left for Hank.
Hank opens it to find a tracking beacon and a message from the killer: (Graveyard. 11:11. Tonight. Both of you. Or history repeats itself.)
——————
The group returns to the police station to stock up on the remaining Pym-Tech they have, and Hank grabs the prototype Wasp suit they still had locked up, figuring now’s a better time than ever to finish it. After retrofitting it to fit himself and suiting up, Hank and Scott fly over to the San Francisco Cemetery to save Cassie’s life with a SWAT team on route, with Jim and Maggie monitoring from the police station. The new Ant-Man and Wasp follow the beacon to its source: the gravesite of Janet Van Dyne.
Hank laments to Scott again over his wife, sorrow in his voice, until his tone turns to disdain when the killer finally appears, revealing herself to be none other than Hope Van Dyne as the Red Queen. Hope chews out her father for wearing her mother’s suit, and gifting his own to a complete stranger, blaming him for Janet’s fate. We learn that Hank’s decision to pick Scott as a successor drove Hope far more over the edge in this universe, leading her down a bloody path of vengeance against the legacy of Ant-Man, a legacy she says is nothing more than that of a coward.
As father and daughter engage in combat, Scott runs off to find Cassie, searching everywhere until he finds her in shrunken Quantum Chamber like Ava’s, rigged and timed to go subatomic. Scott works fast to free his daughter, trying to dodge the barrage of Wasp stings from both Hank and Hope. The two Pyms keep dueling each other, their long-suppressed trauma and grief over Janet’s demise coming to light.
Scott manages to free Cassie from the container in time, but their troubles are far from over, as Jim reports they’ve picked up readings of multiple Pym-Particle bombs laced throughout the city sewer systems all linked to Hope’s heartbeat. If she dies, the city goes subatomic. As this happens, Hope manages to pin Hank by his wings using her shoulder spikes, immobilizing him.
She knocks back Scott, before holding Cassie captive, telling him to make the choice between saving Cassie and saving the city. Scott seemingly hesitates for a moment, unsure of what to do, but that was only a distraction. He managed to slip Cassie a Resizing disc earlier, which she uses to shrink Hope off her long enough for Scott to land a critical hit, knocking her back onto a tombstone and crippling both her suit’s systems and her leg.
Scott and Cassie are safely reunited, and Hank breaks free and radios for the Feds to move in. Despite Hope’s hatred of him, he tries to reconcile with her about their past, apologizing for what happened to Janet because of his failure.
——————
Hope gets taken into police custody, and Hank promises to help repair the damage she has caused to the city and Scott’s family. Sometime afterwards as they all gathered at the Lang house for dinner, Scott, Hank, and the family get a visit from the Avengers themselves, who thank them for their service in catching the Red Queen, offering them both a spot on the team.
——————
Sorry again for the lengthy bio on this one, but this is something I wanted to throw out before the month ends.
Hope you like it!

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
December 14th - Ant Man / Scott Lang
Scott Edward Harris Lang grew up in Florida and earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering.  He married his longterm sweetheart, Peggy Rae, and together they had a daughter whom they named Cassandra.  Although Scott was a gifted engineer, he had trouble finding the work needed to support his family.  He thus turned his talents to burglary. Apprehended, Scott served his prison sentence and was paroled for good behavior. During his time in prison, however, Peggy divorced him and remarried. Scott had furthered his studies of electronics while in prison and was soon hired by Stark International to work in its design department.
Some time later, Scott learned that his daughter, Cassie, had been diagnosed with rare type of congenital heart malformation.  There was a treatment to correct for the malformation, yet there was only one surgeon who could perform the procedure.  Unfortunately, this surgeon had been abducted by the unscrupulous tycoon, Darren Cross, who needed the doctor to correct his own heart condition.
In a desperate effort to save his daughter’s life, Scott broke into the New Jersey home of Dr. Henry Pym and stole Pym’s Ant-Man's Suit.  Scott used the suit to become the new Ant Man and rescue the surgeon from Cross.  Hank Pam had actually observed the theft and chose to aide Scott.  They succeeded and the surgeon was rescued.  She then performed a successful surgery on Cassie and the youngster made a full recovery.
Pym was impressed with how Scott had handled himself as Ant Man.  At the time Pym was operating as the hero Yellowjacket and he gave Scott his blessing to continue on as the new Ant Man.  As Ant Man, Scott worked for Tony Stark for a time and also had adventures alongside The Fantastic Four and the Heroes For Hire.  He was later offered membership to The Avengers. Scott served well as an Avenger yet perished in battle during The Avengers Disassembled event.
Scott’s daughter went on to become the heroine and Young Avenger known as Stature.  During an adventure involving time travel, Cassie convinced The Scarlet Witch to pluck Scott out of the time stream in the moments just prior to his death.  Hence Scott was brought back to life, yet it proved to be an unhappy occasion in that Cassie was killed moments later in battle against Dr. Doom.
Scott fell into a deep depression following the death of his daughter.  Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four tried to help Scott work through his bereavement by offering him a position as the head of the Future Foundation.  Although reluctant at first, Scott accepted the offer and served for a spell as the leader of a new Fantastic Four that stood in for the original team whist they were off world investigating a cosmic anomaly.  During this time, Scott became romantically involved with his teammate, Darla Deering.  His team battled Dr. Doom and Scott defeated the villain, gaining a degree of vengeance for his daughter’s death.
Scott left the FF after the original Fantastic Four returned.  He relocated to Florida and began his own security firm called Ant-Man Security Solutions.
Some time thereafter, Dr. Doom used his mastery of science and technology to create an inversion spell that brought Cassie back to life.  Cassie would go on to take on the new heroic mantle of Stinger and she and her father have shared numerous adventures together.
Actor Paul Rudd has portrayed Scott Lang/Ant Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The hero first appeared in the pages of Avengers Vol. 1 #181 (1978).

What If season 3 episode idea: What If...Darren Cross became Ant-Man?
The episode is a sequel of What If The World Lost It’s Mightiest Heroes as it focuses on Darren Cross.
The opening is a flash back and its Darren using stabilized Pym particles to create the Yellowjacket suit with the help of Hank Pym in the process. Darren thanks Hank before heading off as Hank ends up taking the suit then disappearing.
Cut to years later, Darren is blamed for the creation of the Yellowjacket suit since Hank is dead and the murder of the heroes with Pym Technologies being subjected to lawsuits by various family members and loved ones with cameos including Lara Barton, Jen Walters, and Pepper Potts.
Darren has a press conference to the public and confirms that he indeed create the suit but it was only made for medical uses to eliminate cancer cells-not for murder-since Darren was never affected by the particles and wasn’t going insane. The lawsuits have been dropped but Darren’s image is in ruins with the board of directors considering to fire him. Darren himself deals with people now blaming him for the death of Tony Stark in particular.
Darren is invited to a Halloween party at his fiancé's house as he is busy clearing Hank’s and finds the suit but assumes it’s just a costume then puts it on. He arrives there with partygoers praising his outfit with him saying he’s a Power Ranger before being kidnapped by HYDRA agents consisting of Rumlow and Carson who plan to use the Pym particles.
He tries to fight back and accidentally presses the button and shrunk. Confused and terrified, Darren flees the scene before regrowing back to normal size as he realizes that it’s indeed the Ant Man suit and tries to throw it away off a bridge only for Captain Marvel to catch the suit then give it back to him after failing to explain what the suit is to her.
Darren’s fiancé is kidnapped by the same HYDRA agents as he puts on the suit. He fights off the agents then saves her while he meets with Carol again on the bridge contemplating on throwing the suit away again but Carol tells him that just because the creator was bad doesn’t mean the creation itself is bad and makes an analogy that if she stabbed him with a knife then would it make the knife evil with Darren realizing the Ant Man suit is the knife and realizes that knives can be used to cook, build tools, and help people.
In another press conference, Darren tries to muster up some kind explanation in front of his board members and the press about his fiancé's kidnapping before admitting to everyone that he is Ant-Man much to an excited crowd of people.

The actual fight itself in Cassie's room is a lot of fun. Very creative use of the tiny perspective to make an epic brawl out of a child's playset. This fight is a thematically weak brawl between two characters with the same powers who barely have any connection with one another. But it's a lot of fun to watch.
The writing sucks, but the effects and choreography in this movie is a blast. The same is true of the heist overall, in fact; Weakly written, but the actual heist sequence is very clever and a treat to see brought to life on the big screen.

ok i just watched ant-man and the wasp: quantumania and i have… thoughts. this is very long. it’s also an unnecessarily deep critique of a movie about people with superpowers but i love marvel so here i go. SPOILERS BELOW
jonathan majors is an ACTOR! okay?! please don’t forget it. like that’s a black kang right there (pun intended lmao). i always love him in everything i see him in, and this is no exception. he is by far the best thing about this movie. the problem is that, for me at least, his performance is like the only thing that saves this movie.
i honestly liked the movie all the way until the end. the ending really just made no sense to me.
one, M.O.D.O.K. aka darren cross. he has literally ALWAYS been a villain. even before he got to the quantum realm, he was yellowjacket. he literally tried to kill cassie in her bedroom. then he gets sent to the quantum realm and kang gives him new life as a killing machine. a killing machine who works FOR KANG. so, let’s go over what we know: darren was “evil” before he got to the quantum realm, and with kang’s help, he essentially became even more “evil”. so please tell me why the hell cassie saying the simple words “stop being a dick” would make him evolve into a nice person? that did not make sense AT ALL. this is literally his second time trying to kill cassie, and a cute lil pep talk made him change his ways? like that was so stupid imo.
two, i feel like they nerfed kang. real bad. i haven’t read the comics (yet! i’m getting to it) but just based off of the little i know from the comics and what the movie itself told me, i know he is too powerful to be beaten by ant-man and the wasp. like i’m sorry but… that didn’t really make sense to me. when he first came down from the tower, he immediately started wiping people from existence with the blue energy coming from his hands. so we know that he is capable of killing lots of people at the same time. why would that not also apply to the ants? instead of doing what he did before, which is killing people with his energy, all he did was create a force field? and then M.O.D.O.K. comes and delivers the final dagger that blew it up. which again, does not make sense.
that brings me to the rebellion. i touched on it already, but the fact that the rebels won didn’t make sense to me. kang himself said, and i’m paraphrasing, “do you know many rebellions i have put down?” he easily put down the quantum people rebelling. but the ants is what did him in. you telling me he put down probably hundreds of rebellions, and the ants is what gets him? now i understand that the ants were able to prosper because of the damage the quantum people did to the citadel before they got there. but still. i just don’t believe that kang the conqueror gets taken down by ants.
and the ant-man and wasp vs kang fight at the end. i know that his powers were no longer working bc his suit got busted by the ants and M.O.D.O.K. but, and maybe i just don’t have the correct interpretation of kang’s power, it seemed like he should’ve been able to take hope. even with her having the guns and him being defenseless. but my critique isn’t even that hope beat and killed him during that fight, my critique is that it should’ve never gotten to that point bc realistically kang would’ve been put the rebellion down and never had his suit and powers broken.
we know what kang is capable of. we see it when janet touched his mind/ship, we saw it with the way he fought throughout the movie (kinda), we know bc of the countless worlds he’s destroyed. we even know bc how severely he thwarted the plans of his variants. “they’re afraid of me,” is what kang said. now ofc he could just be saying that in unfounded confidence, but they literally exiled him, and were happy when they found out he was dead. janet even said the quantum realm is the only place that can hold him. that to me let’s me know there is truth in what kang said.
all in all, i understand why kang was killed. its to set the scene for the other kang variants in the mcu’s future. i’m excited to see what they have planned for all of the kangs. and i just really like jonathan majors so im happy to see he’s the next big villain in the mcu. but idk, i just wish they handled the kang variant in this movie differently.
i would rate this movie a 6.5/10. i liked the quantum people, especially jentorra and quaz. i thought the baskin n robbins probability was funny. and i’ll always love seeing scott get big. i liked seeing cassie get big too. and i really liked seeing loki and mobius!! honestly i’m always gonna be bias to marvel, even when they put out objectively mediocre movies lmao. but yeah. those are my thoughts. if you made it to the end you a real one. and if you feel like it tell me your thoughts too!! alright bye
