The "metaphor" behind the Elriel aesthetic.
Well, let's get started. We know that elriel is canonically described as "lovely fawn and death" and as "light and dark".
Tumblr media
The first thing I would like to point out is: the symbology behind the fawn in this specific case.
Fawn is a symbol of purity, freedom, fecundity and, the main point here, of LIFE.
So, twice in that quote, Elain and Azriel were presented as opposites.
Life, death. Light, dark.
They are always opposites, but opposites that always go hand in hand. No matter how hard we try to run away, light and dark go hand in hand. Life and death go hand in hand.
This is also known as complementary opposites.
Death only exists because there is life
Darkness only exists because once there was light.
In the same way that light only exists because there is darkness.
And life is only lived as we live because we are sure of death.
They coexist, complement each other and, no matter how much they try to escape, one cannot exist without the other.
Sometimes I think about this and how these opposites were placed not just once, but twice when talking about elriel and what they represent.
They are just that, opposites that complement each other perfectly.
Do they have their similarities? Of course, and there are many. But in a matter of how they are presented and how people view them, especially the feyre, they are opposites that complement each other and simply need to live side by side.
Remembering that this doesn't just happen with elriel, ok? But let's focus 100% on them today.
Anyway, that's it. I feel that sometimes we missing this little detail there, but it's a thing that always makes me think a lot. Hope you think about it too❤️

Correlation between Elain Archeron and Nephelle's philosophy.
First, let's remember what Nephelle's philosophy is. Azriel introduced us to this philosophy and in short, "the most unlikely person can change the course of history".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then you ask me, ok, but what does this have to do with Elain??
Come here and I'll explain.
Let's focus on ACOWAR. Elain was almost catatonic, in a total state of shock, she didn't eat properly, she didn't talk to almost anyone, she didn't interact, she was just existing and helping when asked for help. She was totally weakened there. Elain was also always the sweetest of the sisters, she was always the one who saw everything with hope, the one who always expected the best from others, the one who was always kind and kind no matter how bad the person had been to her.
Alright, here we conclude that Elain, in general, is a peaceful person and that in acowar, in addition to being peaceful, she was still in a total state of shock.
But as life is not easy and not everything is flowers, the war came and Elain would not stay seated, she would have to go to the battlefield whether she wanted to or not, even because she had to help neutralize the cauldron.
Before that, Elain gets the truth teller in her hands, even though she doesn't want weapons, she gladly accepted that one and believing it could be useful. Just out there we see unlikely things, Azriel who never lent that dagger to anyone, decided to lend it to the most fragile of the sisters.
And well, that's when the course of history began to change. If she hadn't accepted the truth teller, the end of the story would have been totally different.
Now let's get down to business and Nephelle's true philosophy coming into play. The King had made it. Feyre was far away, Nestha was on the ground, Cassian was about to die, the girls' father was dead, he was about to kill Nestha, Cassian and all the rest. Then, in a totally unexpected moment, the most unlikely person, the "weak link", the biggest "weakness" of the army that was fighting that war came into the picture.
Elain Archeron, the girl who until recently didn't want to touch a gun, didn't talk to anyone, was fragile, broken, in shock. That Elain came out of a shadow and killed the King.
Elain Archeron, even though she was the weak link, even though she was considered too weak and fragile, changed the entire course of history.
Without her everyone would have died, without her there wouldn't be a Prythian anymore, without her there wouldn't be any more Nestha or Cassian or any of the characters we love.
Tumblr media
Like Nephelle, Elain showed up at the last second and saved everyone, prevented an even greater tragedy from happening.
It could have been a freaking coincidence that Nephelle was introduced and in the same book it happened with Elain?? Certainly. I think it was?? Of course not.
SJM is, after all, queen of parallels and foreshadowings, her presenting us with the image of a person considered weak saving the "queen" of a place and then showing us Elain saving all of Prythian doesn't seem like much of a coincidence.
Anyway, I just wanted to comment on that and on how my wife, even all bruised inside, manages to be more incredibly badass than a lot of people and can literally be a milestone in everyone's life. Until because without her, without life.

Theory about mating bond from the SJM universe, focused mainly on what would determine True Mates.
⚠️Some warnings:
- this theory is not aimed at any couple/shipp, it's just the analysis of what sjm has already put in its own universe
- we will talk about mates like feysand, nessian, vivi and kallias, quinlar, rowaelin.
Let's go in pieces, true mates always have an order of events until they finally fall into place.
Then you ask me, what is this order?
Let's go.
Suspicion: one side suspects that the mating bond exists, but is never sure, it is never possible to say "hey, you are my mate!!"
Love: they really fall in love, without the influence of the bond.
Certainty: only after falling in love does the person be sure of that, the certainty that has a mate
Bonding fit: there is always a moment of extreme intimacy (sex) in which the bond finally fits between them.
We have this pattern in ALL couples cited as true mates, as enviable bond, perfect bond, as well as the legends. A true bridge between souls.
Now I want to focus on the 2nd item, love. True mates are ALWAYS in love, it's a must between couples. All couples who discovered the mating bond BEFORE falling in love had 2 exits: false bond or bond to have strong heirs, without being that intense thing.
This makes me believe that love is what really awakens true mates, the mating bond is there, dormant, forgotten and appears like an annoying little itch until, puff, they fall in love and finally the bond appears for real, bringing with it all those much more intense feelings.
True mates feel the bond as a gift, something more, never a burden to be carried.
True mates always make it clear that they would fall in love and choose their mates even if the bond did not exist, the mating bond is not the cause of love, it is a complement.
Oh, and it's not just being in love. It's being in love and allowing yourself to feel, allowing both to be in love and to feel the mating bond
Clear cases of this: nessian, feysand, rowaelin.
Nesta: She didn't allow herself to be in love with Cassian, only when she accepted could she feel the bond.
Feyre: in love with rhys but not allowing herself to feel anything other than sexual desire, when she did, she could feel the bond.
Rowan: he didn't allow himself to feel the mating bond, he was in love, he understood that, but he didn't allow himself to feel the bond because he swore the other mate he had was the real one.
It's as if this limitation placed on itself prevents the bond from following the natural flow and being fully present to the point of being noticed.
Even if the bond of true mates is predestined, it's always a matter of choice. Being in love, accepting that and accepting to feel the bond are crucial points for true mates to be true mates.
Without it, the basic instincts are present, but the good part of the mating bond, that intense feeling, that gift given by destiny doesn't exist.

The view that Azriel has of himself
⚠️Some warnings:
it's a post mostly about Az, but we will have elriel. Until because this is part of the story of Az.
There will be more my interpretation based on some facts from the book.
What made me want to do this was simply rereading the part where Mor talks about how Az sees himself: as a bastard who doesn't deserve anything, who isn't good enough for anyone. A real nothing.
That's how he feels, that's how he sees himself before the world and people. And, as Mor said, mostly about someone he likes. Until because it was she who had his heart in her hands in acomaf.
Tumblr media
Azriel always felt dirty, always felt less, always felt beneath everyone else. Whether it's because of the past or the things he does these days, he can't get a good look at himself.
It doesn't matter what he wants.. because he's not good enough to want something..
Every time Az puts himself in the second.. third plan, as if his wishes just don't matter, he only shows how much he thinks he is unworthy of having anything good in his life.
Tumblr media
Okay, but if Az feels like nothing, there must be something that makes him feel like someone, right? Even minimally.
Yeah, and there is, but that was also taken from him by his brother :)
For the first time Az allowed himself to go further, Az allowed himself to do something "wrong", but something that was simply his will – and hers.
Tumblr media
Was his insecurity there? Of course yes. Was he still feeling unworthy? Of course yes. But he at least tried. And when he tried, it was fully reciprocated.
He doesn't think he's worthy of having besides "proving" something that could never be his because he doesn't deserve it.
Tumblr media
Yeah, when Rhys talked about him being deserving it was just to get where it hurts. Az had this reaction precisely because he thinks he doesn't deserve it, as he never deserved anything in his life. Until because he sees himself as a nobody.
Tumblr media
But he felt like something, he opened up even a little bit, and then he had to go back to feeling nothing and being nothing.
He had to go back to being nothing because the only thing that could work out in his life, the only thing he wanted and had the courage to at least take a step, he couldn't have. Even if she wanted him too, he was ordered not to. Ordained by, in addition to his brother, his high lord. Ordered in such a way that reminded him how "nothing" he is.

Cassian

Azriel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🔴2° Desejo.
Cassian
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Azriel
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
