Favorite* Kanae Clips
This is a list of some of my favorite clips from Kanae (Nijisanji)'s streams. It's just a random collection of moments that I go back to time and time again. Also includes clips from other people's streams when Kanae did not stream his POV.
*The same Kanae clips get shared over and over. And while I love the popular clips too, there are some not-so-popular ones that I really enjoy. So I'm using this as a compilation of sorts so I don't have to keep digging for those videos. As such, this list will not include a lot of very well-known clips/moments.
There's also probably a lot more I forgot right now, especially the older ones.

Twilight | ChroNoiR
Lyrics and English Translation
It's not night
Your eyes are just closed
Open your eyes and look
Because you can't see anything
This is the bottom of the sea
There's no difference between morning and night
It's okay, from here on always
Only I will shine a small light for you
Twilight, ceaseless
Currents drifting through time
Twilight, it's not scary
Because we're able to say "It's scary" to each other
I'm the only one watching you
So you must not look away from me
From far away
Light is visible
So for the natural enemy
It is easy to find
I'm always being chased
By those targeting me
Even if my limb gets torn off it grows back
I am swimming like before
But the pain is still there
Twilight, foolish
Pretenses, reality, loathing
Twilight, unending
Even on days I want darkness to swallow me up
My light reflected in your eyes
will shine back on me
You are hope
Hope
By chance I stood next to you
or you stood next to me
In truth it was lonely
Twilight, twilight
Soft, warm
Twilight, ceaseless
Currents drifting through time
Twilight, even then
We are definitely alive
We can't be together, but
We can illuminate each other and overlap our shadows
With our eyes open
Let us dream
As usual, translations were done for fun. Do not use for anything important. Ask a professional for that. My own thoughts on the lyrics and the translation process after the cut.
There are many parts of the lyrics that carry double meaning (or at least I can interpret them that way). My favorite being this part 「僕だけが 小さな灯りをともしてあげる」 which I chose to translate as "Only I will shine a small light for you". However, the verb I translated as "shine" (ともす) is not in kanji. This allows me to interpret it as "Only I will accompany the small light", which also makes sense because the song speaks of both of them as small lights in the dark.
Another thing is how the song allows the lyrics to be cut in various ways, making room for even more interpretation. This is especially noticeable in the "Twilight" parts. For example, in "Twilight, ceaseless" the "ceaseless" can be read as an adjective to "twilight". However, it can also be continued with the next line and read as "ceaseless currents drifting through time".
The original Japanese could be cut in the same way and I tried to translate it so that the English worked as well. The only part I really couldn't translate in a way that played on the double reading is 「トワイライト 終わらない \ 闇に溺れたくなる日でも」 which I translated as "Twilight, unending \ Even on days I want darkness to swallow me up". This is the translation of the phrase as it is written and sung. But, if you connect the second word to the line after it, it will instead mean "Twlight \ Even on days I want the unending darkness to swallow me up".
There are also other parts I had a really hard time translating. I just couldn't find a word that I felt captured what the original was trying to say. I personally think those parts are pretty obviously awkward so I won't list them out here anymore.
Anyways, I really love this song and I had a lot of fun translating this.

Emerald City -Rewind arrange- is one of my favorite covers by nqrse but it's only available in his album "Negative" which I've been trying (and failing) to get a copy of. So I end up listening to this fan upload in youtube a lot.
Unfortunately, parts of the lyrics in the video are wrong so I'm leaving the Japanese lyrics here for my own use. If anyone else finds it useful, then that's great.

A Case of Withdrawal Symptoms: Ace of Diamond
I’ve followed the Ace of Diamond series (both anime and manga) regularly for years and to this day. Ace of Diamond remains one of my all time favorite stories. Act II, in particular, I feel was even better than the already amazing Act I.
I avoided reading the last 30 or so chapters for a while but the other day I finally read everything and now I feel so in need of something to fill the DnA shaped hole in my heart. So today, I decided to just write about a few of my favorite characters in the manga. Along the way, I’ll also slightly touch upon story points and character relationships/interactions.
~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~
Kawakami Norifumi
Nori is my favorite character in the whole Ace of Diamond series, hands down. There is no contest, not even close. Nori is not only a character who we see from the very beginning of Act I and continue to see until the end of Act II, Nori is a very well-written character. He develops gradually in a believable way and at a realistic pace. He is someone whose growth we get to witness.
The best part? Nori is one of, if not the most relatable character among the main cast because he is not a genius, he is not particularly attractive or strong or smart. He has above-average baseball skills at best, with a relatively quiet personality that does not stand out, but a whole lot of resolve and mental fortitude.
I’ve said this before in a post I wrote way back, and I will say it again: Nori is the kind of person I strive to be. Good at what he does even if he’s not out-of-this-world amazing. Dependable and trustworthy, someone the people around him rely upon. Hardworking and resilient in the face of being looked down upon. Most of all, does not give up on improving himself despite being around people who are naturally better than him.
It’s so easy to lose motivation to learn something when someone else younger and newer comes along and has the abilities you don’t. But Nori reminds me that there is value in improving yourself for your self, that consistency is gained through hard work not “natural talent”, and that center stage cannot shine without the backstage hands.
At the end, when Furuya told Nori directly how much his presence makes him feel at ease, I just cried. Because yes, I did say that everything Nori represents is a good thing to work towards, but it’s also true you may not receive as much recognition as the geniuses. And being acknowledged like that? Hits you right in the feels and the tears of joy just won’t stop.
Miyuki Kazuya
I think most people who know me in real life or who’ve read my blog think Miyuki is my favorite character because I fangirl about him a lot. Miyuki has a lot of traits I love about a person: talented but hardworking, serious but knows how to have fun. In fact, no matter how much I love fanfiction and fanarts, I tend to be really picky about the ones featuring Miyuki because I find that they often forget or ignore the facets of Miyuki’s personality that I love.
Fan creations tend to depict Miyuki as quiet, cold, and aloof. But for me, the best parts about Miyuki is his fun-loving, goofy attitude and his whole-hearted love and passion for baseball. He likes annoying enemies, poking fun at friends, laughing at other people. He’s not stuffy about hierarchy and judges people based on merit not seniority. He loves new challenges and finds excitement in playing with or against strong baseball players.
And yet, no matter how much I love Miyuki on his own, I feel that his relationships with other characters are some of the best in the series. A lot of his character growth is spurred by a relationship with another character instead of a more individual progress like Nori’s.
In terms of baseball and as an athlete, his rivalry/friendship with characters like Mima and Narumiya are some of my favorites. I love the wholesomeness of their rivalries. There is never malice or spite when they go against each other in games. Narumiya is probably the person in the series who has known Miyuki the longest. I’ve said this before but I love that Narumiya and Miyuki call each other by their first names. It emphasizes the fact that they’ve known each other since childhood. And now here they are, the stars of their respective teams.
In terms of leadership and as a person, his growth was shown a lot through his partnership with Sawamura and Furuya, his relationship with the Seidou coaching team, Chris, Yuuki, and Maezono, among others. He changes from being relatively self-centered, to thinking more about his teammates and the team as a whole. He learned to be more mindful and sensitive about others, as well as knowing that he can rely on his team as much as he is relied upon.
Finally, his friendship with Kuramochi is one of the most stable, most frequently depicted, and also often overlooked relationships. Though never explicitly stated in the series, Kuramochi is probably the closest thing Miyuki has to a best friend. They don’t have many really emotional moments together, but they understand each other and have each other’s backs. Kuramochi is the person Miyuki confides in when he has problems. And they’re both the first to notice something good or bad about the other. I don’t know about you, but that constancy is amazing. Regardless of whether they remain close in the future or not, I think a friendship like theirs is something to treasure for life.
Sawamura Eijun
DnA is one of the few series whose main character I love. I think it was in one of my first ever posts about DnA that I mentioned how Sawamura is someone you really want to cheer for. A lot of anime/manga, especially in the sports genre, tell the viewers/readers that *insert main character name* makes you want to support them and help them succeed. But, Sawamura is one of the very few who actually makes you feel that way.
Personally, I believe this is due to the effective way the author shows that Sawamura is a multidimensional character. He has a very clear base personality that defines him as a person, but like every human in history, he is not just that. Different situations and even the shortest moments can bring out anger or frustration or even silence.
Sawamura is loud, optimistic, hardworking. But he can also get annoyed at his teammates, can feel jealous of his rivals, is susceptible to judging people without getting to know them, or can put far too much pressure on himself unnecessarily. I love that the series shows all of this unapologetically. He is not good with certain types of people, but even if he never becomes their best friend, he learns to get along with them. These types of character building make him human, and make you appreciate his usual noisy, laughing self even better.
My favorite part about Sawamura is how open he is to both learning new things and being corrected when he’s wrong. Not only is he willing to be taught, he does not ignore people that point out his mistakes. Of course, he gets embarrassed but he apologizes if he hurts someone, and trains when his skill or knowledge is lacking or wrong.
If not for this attitude, Chris would not have taught him all the baseball basics he clearly lacked, he would not be close enough to Miyuki to experiment with his pitches together or hangout in his room, Kataoka would not have given him the chance to be on the roster, Okumura would have stayed disappointed in him. He would never have been good enough to be the ace of the team.
And what’s even more amazing is that it’s not just the readers who go through a getting-to-know phase with Sawamura. His own teammates go from getting annoyed at his yelling to actually looking forward to hearing it, from wanting to support him to being supported by him as well, from cheering him on to relying on him as their ace.
~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~
I don’t know if I’ll do something like this again, but I definitely want more DnA content coming my way because I am missing it so much. Tereading the series right now only makes me even sadder, but what can I say, I love making myself happy-sad.

Daiya no A Act II
Finally finished reading the manga just now and I am so overwhelmed by emotions at this moment that I will write a proper (at least compared to this one) review later in the week after I’ve calmed down from the adrenaline.
I just want to say that Daiya no A has been such a big part of my life that it doesn’t feel quite real that it has ended. To be honest, I didn’t expect it would end this early. I thought Act II would last longer than this (both in terms of chapters, and also where it ended in the story). I can’t really say I’m satisfied, but I love this series just as much as I always have, regardless of the ending. And if the future gifts us with Act III, I will be the happiest about it.
In any case, thank you Terajima for birthing this masterpiece. This manga will forever have a special place in my heart.

[Game Review] 結合男子 - Elements with Emotions
I’ve been wanting to play this game since finding out about it during the Tokyo Game Show 2022 in September last year. I admit, I was drawn to it purely based on the art. But, after knowing more about it, I realized it was a type of game I play often enough anyways.
Elements with Emotions is a visual novel-style game where in you pair up different characters to proceed to different story routes. At the moment, the game is only available in Japanese and can only be played with Nintendo Switch.
I bought and downloaded the game on release day, and after a day I’ve finished exactly 2 endings (1 proper ending, and 1 failed ending). Overall, the game was fun to play, with a rather simplistic story but a cast of varied lovable characters, and a repetitive leveling system but very interesting ability concept.
Story
Personally, the story is okay. “Dead matter” is overtaking the world and turning it into nothingness. We join the main characters as they fight against dead matter with elemental powers. It keeps you interested enough to keep going, with a few twists here and there, especially towards the end, but really nothing special.
I think the story is burdened by a lot of terminology. While it does help create a completely different world, it also introduces a lot of complexity that I thought it didn’t really need. Sometimes, they just made the story harder to understand instead of making it interesting.
If you have the patience to immerse yourself in the world though, you will be rewarded because the worldbuilding was great. There’s even a lot to learn from reading the glossary of terms and the information packed into the descriptions / explanations.
Characters
I do love the characters in this game. Character design is amazing, and they thoroughly make use of this in the marketing of the game. Each character has their own twitter account (yes, the character) and you can see each of their personalities shine that way. I think this is only possible because each character was well thought out.
As with any visual novel, you don’t really get to know all the characters in a single playthrough. You get to know the most about someone in a route where they are the central character. And then you get to know extra information about them in the other routes where they serve a more minor role.
However, considering I only really played through the entire story once (because the failed ending was really too early), I do think they did a great job of introducing the characters and giving you a chance to know each one a little bit. Enough for you to be interested in them.
Every in-game day, you have a chance to talk to a character or pair of characters and learn more about them (their personality, hobbies, what they do and where they go in their free time, etc).
I am personally really excited to buy Misora’s additional content so I can play his routes. Despite playing a relatively small role in the route I did, he definitely caught my attention.
Also, the game has a wonderful voice acting cast, which is always a really big point for me.
Game Play
At its core, this game works just like every other visual novel. You read the story and every now and then, you will be presented with choices that will affect dialogue, responses, and the story as a whole.
The unique aspect of this game, however, lies in its use of the elements. Every character has the power of a specific element. No, not the classical elements like earth, wind, water, fire. I’m talking about chemical elements-- hydrogen, lithium, carbon, etc.
Every in-game day, you’re able to train chosen characters. You can choose between 3 activities: (1) “link” two characters (elements) so their connection becomes stronger, (2) train your whole team so their shared abilities become stronger, or (3) let them rest so their “happiness” is restored and their future training becomes more effective.
The abilities are my favorite thing in the game. Abilities are named after chemical compounds. And yes, you can only use abilities if you have all required atoms to form the compound. For example, to use the ability Carbon Dioxide (CO2), you need to have 1 carbon and 2 oxygen atoms available. These atoms are generated with every attack that the corresponding character makes.
I swear I had so much fun learning about these compounds (even though you don’t need to understand them to play the game) that if this game had existed when I was still in high school, I might have gotten a better grade in chemistry.
Finally, during a fight, once your “link gauge” has been filled, you can then “link” your chosen pair so that they are strengthened and can deliver a killing blow to the enemy. (So far, all enemies died once I’m able to link, but I’m unsure if it guarantees the end of a fight.)
All in all, had a lot of fun with it and looking forward to trying out different pairings and seeing the different stories. Also, excited to form more compounds with more characters as additional stories are released in the coming weeks.

My Top 10 Movies
Chosen based completely on personal preferences, emotional attachment, and life impact, listed in no particular order. Spoiler warning for the movies listed.
------
The Sound of Music
Almost 3 hours long, but I was completely focused the whole movie even as a child. I used to sing along to every song and practiced Edelweiss on the piano because I thought it was the most beautiful song ever. Granted, I used to turn away from the the TV screen during “Something Good” because apparently my kid self had very little appreciation for romance. But re-watching the movie as an adult really changes your perspective and I have even more appreciation for the different parts of this movie.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
The whole Harry Potter film series was such a big part of my childhood that there was absolutely no way I wouldn’t list at least one movie. I decided on the first one not only because it started the whole thing, but also because it is the one Harry Potter movie I can recite all the lines for from memory. I watch all Harry Potter movies every year during Christmas with my sister. By virtue of being first, the first movie just happens to be the one we’ve repeated the most.
You are the Apple of My Eye
I first saw this movie when I was in college. I think, perhaps, it was the perfect age to watch this because everything was so relatable and so close to my reality that everything just hit that much harder. The story is beautiful and realistic. I just think this was so, so precious. When I’m feeling emotional, I love re-watching this movie and shedding a few tears here and there.
The Kite Runner
I wasn’t even in high school yet when I first saw this film. I remember the rape scene leaving such a big impact on me that “boys can get raped too” and “children can get raped too” was my biggest take away from this movie for the longest time. It wasn’t until I re-watched the movie in my last year of high school that the movie really left an impression on me as a story/film as a whole instead of just that one scene. The ending still gets me every single time.
Enter the Dragon
One of my first foreign-language films was Enter the Dragon. My dad is a big Bruce Lee fan and when the age of DVDs came, he bought a bunch of Bruce Lee movie DVDs and we all watched them together as a family. Enter the Dragon was probably the one we watched the most times. It was my first time having to read subtitles. I remember having such a hard time keeping up with the speed as a kid. In fact, watching Bruce Lee movies really helped me learn to read fast because otherwise I couldn’t understand the dialogue.
Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper
Barbie movies were a big part of my childhood. The Princess and the Pauper was my favorite among all of them and still is to this day. I will never tire of the music from this movie. I still remember all the songs. I even still remember the bloopers scenes they showed at the end of the movie.
Whisper of the Heart
My favorite Ghibli movie is, without a doubt, Whisper of the Heart. Music and writing, two of my favorite things both in one movie. The lead girl is still one of the most relatable characters in any movie for me and maybe that’s why it is very close to my heart. No matter how great the other Ghibli films are and how much I also love them, Whisper of the Heart is dear to me because of my emotional attachment to it.
Haba-baba-doo! Puti-puti-poo!
A childhood staple, I remember watching this movie so many times as a kid. We have no CDs or DVDs of it, then and now. I only ever saw this when I happened to be watching TV when they showed this movie. But I still saw it enough times for it to stick with me until adulthood. I remember watching this with my siblings, my cousins, and our house helpers. I’ve watched this at our house, my grandma’s house, my aunt’s house, and even at a hotel room. A lot of chaos, comedy, and good feels.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
If I associated the Harry Potter films with Christmas, then New Year was for Narnia. I liked The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe so much that I remember being not so impressed with the second and third movie that followed. As I grow older, I found that I have more and more appreciation for the later movies, but the first one does indeed have a special place in my heart.
Hercules
Another childhood film. To be honest, it wasn’t until after I entered college that I revisited this movie. I knew I enjoyed it as a kid but by then I didn’t even know the story anymore, just the songs that I kept hearing, as you do any other Disney song. I loved it so much on my re-watch that I kept repeating it, until my dad saw me watching it one day and commented how I used to memorize all the lines Hercules said as a kid. I don’t remember, but if dad is to be believed, I guess my taste in movies haven’t changed at all since then.
------
Other movies I love, still in no particular order.
Joseph: King of Dreams was shown in my elementary school and I have loved it since.
White Chicks was a favorite to watch with my cousins at their house and good for laughs.
Rurouni Kenshin is, in my opinion, the best manga/anime live-action adaptation ever.
Heneral Luna is a great historical film with perfectly modernized dialogue, to appeal to a younger audience without destroying its essence.
High School Musical was a huge part of my youth and still a great film musical to watch even as an adult.

[Review] [Visual Novel] Billionaire Lovers
I bought this game even before it had an English version and just left it in my to-play list for the longest time because I don’t understand Chinese. Then it got an English translation when life became hectic so I didn’t have the chance to play it until recently.
I decided to play Billionaire Lovers because I wanted a short, fluffy romance game. The internet said I could finished the whole game in around 4 hours for all routes and it was perfect because I don’t have much time, but I also don’t wanna leave routes unfinished for a long time.
To start off with my conclusion, it was indeed around 4 hours to complete so it ticked my “short” condition. But I don’t know if I’d call it fluffy. Don’t get me wrong. The game is great and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. But it wasn’t quite what I expected.
Story
The story isn’t complex by any means but it has a lot more depth than the bright, colorful art style might lead you to believe. The premise sounds fantastical, but the story itself was a lot more realistic and practical than I thought it would be.
It’s about the right length for the story it tried to tell and going through each route uncovered more details every time that made previously experienced events/dialogue make sense.
I guess that’s what it was. Every single route you do opened your eyes just a little bit bigger to the truth of the events. It showed you each character’s background, motivation, and just personality in general.
Characters
I don’t know how to delve into the characters without giving out spoilers. Let’s just say I became so suspicious at the end that I still question whether it really was as portrayed or if there was something more to it.
Justin is my least favorite character. Gosh, he was so clingy, so nosy, so irritating. If it was the real life, I would have avoided him like the plague. There was absolutely nothing like-able about him, I don’t even know.
Kyle is okay. But he’s just not my type. In all otome games, guys like him are the ones I do just to complete things. But I do know that lots of people go crazy for his kind of character.
Elias, on the other hand, is absolutely my type. From the looks, to the personality, and even to the character background. Everything just works. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t eye him from the beginning.
Steven was kind of just okay to me because he’s also not my type. His saving grace was that I was actually intrigued by his character setup. So he was kind of a more interesting version of Kyle for me.
But, well, after completing the game, a lot of the above opinions changed or just straight up disappeared.
Lessons
There is a lot to be learned from this game. In the story, in the character interactions, in the mini-game you play inside the game. From lessons about life, love, relationships, trust, control, family, money, contracts, etc.
It was definitely a reminder for me about the real world.

[Nijisanji] Kanae's Memorable Singing(?)
This is a list of memorable moments when Kanae was singing or humming or doing something along those lines. 😅
This is a list of moments that personally stuck with me.
A clip of each moment is embedded in the post, while a link to the original stream is provided under each video.
Enjoy~
-----------
Original Stream Link
While playing Apex Legends
He doesn’t know all the lyrics and the tune of the second verse
Dola tries to help him out in chat
Mayuzumi sends him supportive Super chats and sings a sample for him
-----------
★ Kousui (香水)
Original Stream Link
While playing Hyper Scape
He doesn’t know the lyrics and he keeps singing out of tune
His version of Kousui spreads throughout Nijisanji and members like Bora, Chigusa, and Kaida imitate him, while Riri has a hard time singing the correct version once Kanae’s version gets stuck in her head
-----------
★ Happy Birthday
Original Stream Link
During Kuzuha’s birthday stream
He sends Kuzuha a recording of himself singing Happy Birthday
Kuzuha listens to his recording on stream
Later on, Kuzuha listens to Kanae’s singing for a second time in order to calm himself down after having to talk to a lot of people he doesn’t usually interact with
-----------
★ Himawari no Yakusoku (ひまわりの約束)
Original Stream Link
While playing ARK
Kanae is excitedly chanting for the drops he wishes
When he fails to get good drops, he ends up singing this sad song to comfort himself
-----------

Lemonade by nqrse
Japanese lyrics with English translation by confinedmadness
Alphabet transliteration at the end
Somehow nothing goes right
Just let it all go with lemonade
Try
There is nothing I hate that
It’s today when I wake up I think tomorrow is scary
I tried; I had to do my best
“Someone who can’t do their best shouldn’t be here“
Because of you I feel horribly sick To clear stress
A little break to recover mentally
Fuck off to gossip The authenticity is unknown
Is there meaning to me dancing?
I haven’t forgiven that’s why I haven’t forgotten
Just let it drown in lemonade
You won’t be perturbed Bragging of your misfortunes
Oh right I wasn’t interested from the start
Ego
それも自分 in the place to be
Break away from real life Party in that café that caught your eye
I just want my ego and self to stretch
Fooling around in a lame dress code
That’s me in the place to be
It’s okay
The magic I’m putting on the glass after this
An unforgettable sight It’s okay
Come, a barefoot rendezvous I’d rather not leave the maze
With you inside a commonplace dream
Put love into the affectionless self-indulgent view
It’s not that amazing, immersed in splendid days
It’s enough even if ideals don’t grow
Can’t take that burden alone, It’s fine, I’m me, yey
Haters
You said that
Honey
Welcome Haters in the party
“Don’t be there” You said that
Leave your resentment and envy
Focus on now for a masterpiece The fresh atmosphere sets the pace
A little honey on Thursday
It’s okay
The magic I’m putting on the glass after this
An unforgettable sight It’s okay
Come, a barefoot rendezvous I’d rather not leave the maze
With you inside a commonplace dream
Now I’m paralyzed
Paradise
Rewind
Hello, Let me show your dance
To be exposed to unhidden malice
Now I’m paralyzed A prescription can’t help
Everything is paradise if you have a teaspoon full of courage
I know you’re anxious but trust me Rewind this tape without holding the starboard
Things you’ve done in the past Trouble is waiting
It’s my choice, let’s sing Early evening Down the lemonade
Hello, let me show your dance
It’s okay
The magic I’m putting on the glass after this
An unforgettable sight It’s okay
Come, a barefoot rendezvous I’d rather not leave the maze
With you inside a commonplace dream

Important notes:
Most of the lyrics were taken from lyric websites, with a few parts edited based on what I heard in the song.
The translation is very loose to allow for interpretation. Do not rely on them for important meaning as this was translated for fun, NOT professionally.

All of which is a long way of saying: don’t make a choice that leaves you alone. Nothing is worth that – especially not eternity.
