Johnny5 was SO aggressive when he arrived. He'd lunge and was determined to bite anytime you were in his enclosure. Mom forced so much love that he wants to be with her 24/7! 🤦 He is still sometimes mean to Dad. 🤭 But he's Momma's little boy.🥰 And yes, he LOVES to be in my space, especially cuddling against my face all the time.😆

When you love what you do 🥰

Mom and Dad don't rescue as an occupation. But this is their life 24/7. They don't actually go on vacation and don't have days off. They chose rescue and really love helping animals. They have to pay any time there isn't enough funding for the rescue. And with COVID-19, that's been a lot. Plus, it's been tough with Dad not being able to work as much as he used to because of treating his cancer. So Mom works as much as she can. But with donations, that keeps making it possible for Mom and Dad to do what they do to take care of all the rescues at Happy Hides.

I don't have a name yet but the people are considering Tilly. We'll see🤷

I'm having good moments but I have a long way to go. I'm very little so there is a good chance I will mostly overcome my urge to constantly bite. I would not be good in a family environment so now I'm here. So far everyone is working with me and I'm doing well. I try to bite but I don't always try to lunge and attack. I've given a good chomp but thankfully I'm small so it doesn't hurt. With more practice, hopefully I'll be more relaxed and less likely to bite. But a dragon known to bite without hesitation is likely to have moments they won't tolerate something they don't like. For example, if we work on Vader, he is unpredictable and may bite at any time he feels you shouldn't be touching him. Some can stay as unpredictable as Vader and some get a lot better. Especially with time, you learn what frustrates them, like Midna who now has few triggers and hasn't had an incident in a long time. We do what we can to avoid triggers and make them feel relaxed.

It's raining cats🐈 and dogs🐕 today!

Midna had a vet appt yesterday. We noticed a small mass in the corner of her beard. We wanted to be sure that it wasn't cancer so we made an appt to have the vet look at it. The slide showed no signs of cancer at this time. Appears to be a little granuloma that formed. But nothing serious at this time.👏

It's great to get good news! And in the meantime, it really is raining quite a bit today!☔

Daisy has a limited diet but still manages to gain weight. She is active, which helps keep her healthy. But she is genetically a large female. Unfortunately we have to be patient and when her body finally gets the idea, she will start losing some weight. But it can take many months for that to happen, their bodies work slowly. It's been a while and she isn't thrilled. But when you want to keep them healthy, you have to do what is necessary.😆

Fun tortoise and Bonnie fact: Bonnie is a boy! It's hard to sex a tortoise for the first couple of years of their life as their shells can change making you think male or female. Bonnie didn't have normal signs of being a male or female. It's suggested to name your tortoise a name knowing they can be either sex. But we don't care if Bonnie is a boy and has a typical girl name. But, when he is naughty, his full name is Bernard.😆 But we just picked a name for the duo of torts and Clyde definitely looked male so that's how they ended up with the names they have.
