how seungcheol says “i love you” for the first time 💌

he’s always known the deep insecurities you held within you and the lingering stares you sent in his direction when someone got too close to him for your liking. just like now, if looks could kill, the girl that is currently twirling her hair and giggling in front of him, would vanish into thin air. you sip your jameson and ginger ale with lime bitterly despite the tasty alcoholic drink in your hand.

seungcheol moves away from the girl with a light smile and he had all the intention to make his way back to you, but a hand on his arm stopped him from walking any further than two steps. he was sidetracked by a female again, and you sigh, tears lining your eyes and you decide to chug your drink and call it a day. once you do, you turn to your friends who are conversing with each other and taking shots after shots.

“hey, where are you going?” wonwoo tilts his head up, watching as you drape your leather jacket over your body.

“home.” you give him a barely-there-smile and he notices the frown that envelops your face when you look back at seungcheol who is now laughing with the woman who is dressed better and looked much more beautiful than you.

“thought you were sleeping at cheol’s?” he furrows his eyebrows, but he follows you out of the club where you attempt to hail a taxi because one, you didn’t bring your car for obvious reasons and two, you didn’t want to take a bus because you’d have to wait awhile and you didn’t want seungcheol to catch up with you once he realises you’re gone.

“go back inside buddy,” you tap wonwoo’s arm but he doesn’t budge. you both watch as another taxi passes you by, none interested to take a drunken passenger in.

“you know you can just wait for him and jeonghan since it’s their turn to drive us all home,” he nudges your body gently and you sigh once you realise how childish you were being.

“i’m stupid right?”

“depends on the situation yn,” he chuckles and leans against the wall and you follow suit.

“i-” you suck in a breath and close your eyes, “i don’t deserve him, wonu. we’re completely opposite of each other and what if i’m just stopping him from meeting someone that can actually be a better partner for him.”

wonwoo rolls his eyes at your words because he knows how much seungcheol treasures your relationship and he’s witnessed him fall in love with you, everyone has but you.

“come on, you’re being dumb. he loves you yn.”

“how come he’s never said it then?” you turn your head towards him, and much to your surprise, seungcheol is standing merely inches away from the both of you.

wonwoo’s eyes drift back and forth between the two of you as you stare at your boyfriend who’s intently staring back at you with a deep frown on his face. you recognise the tiny hurt on his face and it makes your own heart ache. wonwoo taps your side and he walks back into the club, not before sending a signal to seungcheol, a small “you better fix this” his way.

“why’d you leave all of a sudden?” he shuffles over to you in hurried steps, stopping right in front of you and ultimately caging you between the brick wall and his body so you wouldn’t be able to escape easily.

“got too warm in there and i’m kind of sleepy too,” you fake a yawn and if it weren’t for the tension between you two, he would’ve laughed.

“tell me the truth love,” he whispers, catching your chin between his fingers and lifting it up so he can read your eyes.

“you can tell me sweetheart, i promise i won’t get mad,” he brushes your cheek with his thumb and you bask in the sudden warmth radiating from his hands. he hears you suck in a breath and the shaky release of air from your lungs. he knows you’re trying your best to tell him and he’s grateful you’re trying.

“i hate it when i let my insecurities get the better of me,” you mumble and you know he hears you words because his eyes turn glossy at your words.

“i hate this aching feeling i get whenever someone more beautiful and capable of loving you approaches you whenever we’re together. i hate the fact that even though they know we’re together, they still try to flirt with you.” you sniffle and wipe the tears from your eyes.

“are you done?”

“no just give me a minute,” he chuckles at your words and you finally crack a smile.

“do you love me?”

seungcheol’s breath hitches in his throat and he suddenly hates himself for not telling you how he’s been feeling for months.

“i love you,” he whispers, leaning his forehead against your own, “i love you with all my heart and i hope you know you’re the only one i’ll ever need, i’ll ever want.”

“i’m sorry for being so childish,” you whisper against his lips, but he shakes his head.

“you’re feelings are valid, you hear me?” he wipes the remaining tears from your eyes and you’ve never been more grateful for him.

“i’ll just have to remind you every day.”

꒰ °CHAN ꒱ -  sitting in his lap while he works on a new song

Just as the hours went by, Chan’s patience was starting to run thin too, getting more and more frustrated by the minute. It seemed like nothing was going his way as he sat there in front on his laptop, typing, deleting, cutting and adding other sounds and melodies to the new song he was making. So, being his best friend, you wasted no time in standing up from the small couch to approach him when he finally pushed his chair away and let his head fall back with a sigh, running his hands over his beautiful bare face.

Without saying a word, you then plopped yourself in his lap, the same one that’s been silently urging you to do so since the beginning of this little hang out. And Chan being Chan didn’t say anything and only let his arms come and wrap themselves around your form, pulling you closer to make sure you were actually comfortable.

“Let’s take a break, yeah?”

He agreed with a nod, letting his head slowly fall down to bury his face in the crock of your neck. The feeling of him letting out a tired sigh against your sensitive flesh almost made you shiver, that paired with him inhaling your sweet scent before basking in it enough to drive you crazy. It felt so comfortable, so right to be this close to him when it shouldn’t. You weren’t a couple; these types of touches should not be shared so easily between you two.

You melted into his arms, feeling like the happiest person in the world as you shifted slightly to find an even more comfortable position. It was like floating on a cloud, so serene and peaceful that if it was a dream, you never wanted to wake - 

“Stop moving.” Came his voice full of exhaustion, a bit shaky and airy as his hold on you tightened to keep you still. Oh-

But where was the fun in that?

Crossing one leg over the other, the action still provided just enough friction to make the man under you actually groan this time, the sound so sweet and hot that it had your heart almost beat out of your chest.

“Y/n.” he warned, unwrapping his arms from around your waist and planting them on your hips, succeeding in keeping you still as he caught his breath, calming down. You could feel his own heart pound against your back, visibly just as nervous as you were. Chan was always so composed and put together, some might say ‘cocky’ yet right now, under you, he was slowly but surely falling apart just because of your little teasing touches and that realization had your heart swell up with pride.

Dammed be the title you put on your relationship, that honestly didn’t matter anymore.

Turning your head to the side, his own was still in your neck, hiding away from the world and your burning stare. Wanting him to lift his gaze, you leaned in and planted a peck on his soft cheek, making sure to linger there for a few moments more to give him the opportunity to memorize the feeling of your lips on his skin and ultimately, crave more.

“Channie.” You whined when his only response was to hug you closer, not granting your wish to see his eyes. To see the desire in them.

“I told you to take a break, didn’t I?”

K-Pop Spotlight: Stray Kids

Masks off everyone—Stray Kids’ newest mini-album ODDINARY is finally out and it’s time to embrace the maniac within. To celebrate the new release and their upcoming fourth anniversary, we caught up with the group to talk about their new album and single, MANIAC, and the challenges and fulfillment that come with accepting your most authentic self. As a little bonus, we also asked the members to design their own Tumblr blogs (just in case you needed some inspiration). Check out our full interview below!

Tell us about your new mini-album ODDINARY in three words or less, but there’s a catch—you can’t use the words odd or ordinary. 

Bang Chan: MANIACS ARE BACK!

Lee Know: Cool.

Changbin: Inner side, volcano, control.

Hyunjin: Super Power song.

HAN: Abnormal, freaky, potential are the three words that I think describe it best. We tried to describe the energy that explodes from our music in a different way this time, by slowly showing control over this energy. 

Felix: Maniac, unique, and dark.

Seungmin: Interesting, fascinating, capturing hearts.

I.N: Mania, abnormal, conceptual. 

Stray Kids’ music and concepts often encourage young people to be their most authentic selves regardless of other people’s opinions. How does ODDINARY fit into that narrative, and what do you hope your fans take away from it? 

Bang Chan: This might not apply to everyone, but I feel like many people have experienced moments where they’re told to act normal (yep, I’ve been through that). We wanted to emphasize that “standards” don’t matter and that you have the authority to let out the “oddness” that’s been sealed inside you all this time.

Changbin: ODDINARY is a compound word that combines “ordinary” and “odd,” meaning that everyone has a normal and slightly weird side. Listeners will be able to experience the everlasting honesty and truthfulness that Stray Kids’ music has always displayed, with the more crazy side that Stray Kids have. 

HAN: I hope that STAY and all listeners will be able to follow their hearts, rather than being confined by the judgment of others. I hope everyone also looks forward to the upgraded version of us. 

Seungmin: Whatever situation may come, I hope that everyone is able to live in their most honest, unique way with versatility while never forgetting who they truly are. I hope our music can become a small strength.

Bang Chan: Ooft… it’s hard to pick just one because my preferred aesthetics change depending on my mood. But if I had to pick one, it would be cyberpunk. The lights got me, and I’m a fanatic for futuristic stuff.

Lee Know: I want to decorate it using a clean, white tone.

Changbin: I want to use the tags #straykids, #stay, #stage, #music, which all mean a lot to Stray Kids.

Hyunjin: Vintage Tumblr, with #lovestay

HAN: I would like to decorate it like #black #chic to show a lot of calm yet cool atmosphere! I want to use the tags #black #chic #skz #loveyou #STAY.

Felix: #행복이 #felix 🐈‍⬛💛

Seungmin: #Seungtage. I really like vintage furniture and aesthetics, so I would like to decorate it using an organized brown tone.

I.N: I’m into vintage aesthetics these days, so I think I’ll go with vintage.

You guys know me, it’s never just smut. It’s a story. 

He never truly understood why being well liked was important. No, Yunho wanted to go his own way and didn’t care what others thought of him, it was just the way he wanted to live. Making friends in school and having close connections just wasn’t at the top of his list of things to do. Why would he put in a lot of effort when those around him didn’t? It just didn’t make sense to him whatsoever.

People tended to shy away from him, he could understand that. He was big, intimidating, roaming the halls with quite the commanding presence, he truly couldn’t blame them. It stayed like this for a long time, until you transferred over. You were a breath of fresh air, casting a light on the shadow Yunho called school. It made him excited to go in the morning, it made him want to put in an effort. You didn’t treat him like the others did, no you handled him with respect but also laughed with him when you could. You had broken a little you shaped hole into the wall he had built up and Yunho was a better man for it. You were his best friend.

People always mistook you for a couple, which much to Yunho’s dismay was not the case. It especially hurt his soul when you laughed it off and simply said ‘No, no. We’re just friends.” He had been in love with you for the last 1,5 years… just friends? But he managed to push all that to the side, it didn’t matter how he had you in his life. It just mattered that he had you. Besides, he had no one else and he didn’t want to be alone again if he messed this up. Despite you having been able to break through his walls, no one else seemed quite as lucky and shied away at any other opportunity.

“Good morning, sunshine.” Yunho said softly, as you entered the class room. Dodging the other chitter chatter of your classmates because they didn’t quite matter to you, you wanted to see Yuyu. A whole weekend had been in between the last time you saw each other and you needed to catch up.

Lack Of Support ~ Bang Chan

The atmosphere was still tense as you walked back through the front door, immediately feeling Chan’s eyes staring across at you. You had hoped with a bit of time the two of you would be able to cool yourselves down, but the frosty atmosphere that seemed to surround you both quickly let you know that that wasn’t to be the case.

It had been a couple of hours since you’d left the house, hoping that it would prevent an argument between the two of you, but it had instead created a tension that you hadn’t expected.

For some time, Chan had noticed that you had been closing off from him, you came home from work without a smile on your face. However, when Chan challenged you about it, you refused to talk, assuring him that you were fine.

“Do you want to talk?” Chan questioned as you walked through into the living room, sat in the exact position that he was when you had excused yourself not too long ago.

As your eyes met his, you could see that he was struggling, mainly not to scream at you for closing off for him for so long. “It’s really no big deal, Chan, let’s just sleep on things and hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better.”

You tried to walk away, but Chan remained firm and sat down on the sofa. Although you were willing to attempt to drop things, he wasn’t quite so keen, he wanted to know what was going on so that he could help you.

“You’re always there for me.”

“I know.”

“So, let me be there for you,” he requested.

Chan tapped the empty space beside him on the sofa, which you reluctantly walked over to. The conversation wasn’t something that you wanted to continue, you were happy dealing with things on your own and carrying on trying to find the answers alone like you always had done too.

“You can’t stay closed off forever,” Chan quickly reminded you, “walking out of the door doesn’t just make things go away, that’s not how things work Y/N, we have to talk about these things.”

“It’s my problem, and I’ll deal with it,” you tried to argue, but Chan’s head shook back across at you. “You don’t need to worry about meaningless things for me when you’ve got so many other things to worry about, especially with your schedule so busy.”

Chan knew that you closed off because you were concerned for him, but he knew himself too, and could tell that he had it within himself to worry about not just the group, but you as well, which was why he was sat beside you.

Your body was tense beside him, not quite sure how to react to what was going on, the last thing that Chan wanted to do was overwhelm you, but he was desperate to make sure that you knew he wasn’t going anywhere.

“Have you ever heard the saying that a problem shared is a problem halved?” Chan questioned, smiling weakly as your head nodded back at him. “Don’t you think that the same could apply to you if you shared your troubles?”

Your shoulders could only shrug back at him as you struggled to make up your mind. The advice of others was sometimes something you craved, but the idea of being a burden to someone else just kept holding you back.

“It’s hard,” you whispered, biting down on your bottom lip to try and stop yourself from getting upset, refusing to let Chan see just how hard things had gotten for you too.

But he had already seen, several times too. He had watched you come home and force the smile onto your face, he had told you about his day when you asked how it was so that he couldn’t get in and ask about yours first.

His head nodded understandingly, shuffling a little bit closer to your side. “You can talk to me Y/N, I will tell you that again and again until you finally decide to listen to me.”

“I’ve never really had someone so keen to care for me as much as you before,” you slowly began to confide in him, “I’m used to dealing with everything alone, I was always told that my problems are my things to deal with.”

Chan’s head shook back at you, determined to change your mindset. He didn’t want to see you suffer alone, even if that was the way you were used to handling things before.

The change that you found now that you had Chan was tough, at times it stunned you to have someone beside you so willing to help you out.

“You’re always there for me, whenever I have a problem, I know that you’ll be there for me, and so I want to be there for you too,” he assured, moving his hand up to rest against your shoulder, “I don’t want you to feel alone when you do such a good job of making me not feel alone.”

Your advice had carried Chan through some of his toughest times, somehow always managing to find the right thing to say. Others had their opinions, but none of them mattered more to Chan than yours.

“My problem really is no big deal though,” you tried to assure him with a weak smile.

Chan’s shoulders shrugged, not caring how big or small your problems were. “I still want to know what’s going on, and I still want to be able to help you out, big or small you shouldn’t go through a hardship alone.”

“Really?” You questioned, struggling to believe that someone was so willing to be by your side, “are you sure there aren’t more important things that you should worry about.”

Once again, Chan’s head shook, continuing to refuse to budge on his stance. “I told you that I’m here for you, nothing else is going to change that, no matter what else is going on with me, or with the group either.”

“I don’t even remember what got me so worked up at work today,” you chuckled.

“Tell me what you remember.”

“That’s the thing, I got too angry over too many things that they all just collated together.”

As far as Chan was concerned, he had all night to sit and be there for you. He had plenty of time to make up for when you had closed yourself off from him to finally be able to take the chance to listen and offer you support like you had always done for him.

“Whatever is going on, or has gone on, tell me,” Chan asked of you, moving his hand to hold onto yours, “that way I can remember what’s going on now for the future when you might need my help then too.”

Your head nodded, as the corners of your mouth slowly began to turn up, “you might want to go and get a pad of paper and a pen if I’m honest with you.”

“Has it really been that bad?” Chan asked with a gasp, shaking his head in disapproval.

“Tough,” you simply stated as Chan shifted so that he was facing you properly, “there’s been a lot going on, I don’t think I’ve had a moment to breathe recently.”

“You do now, now that you’re with me.”

chan ; channie is unbelievably sweet. he just wants you to feel uncomfortable and not overwhelmed in any way. in this, he’s definitely the type to hold onto your hand every time you go out together, or let you stand a little behind him just for the feeling of extra protection he brings. honestly, chan is such a protective guy, he’d do everything in his power to make sure you were okay :( he’s also the type to lean down if he ever thought you were overwhelmed and ask if you were alright, giving your hand a reassuring squeeze.

minho ; minho is more subtle for how he cares for you. he’s more about shooting you looks and raising his eyebrows to check on you, or keeping his arm wrapped loosely around your shoulders; standing close enough to you for you to know he’s there if you need him. he doesn’t want to suffocate you, but he knows how quiet and shy you can get and he wants you to feel safe with him. 

changbin ; changbin is the sweetest boy in the whole world :( there’s just something about his aura, maybe it’s the way he talks, the way he carries himself, the way he’s so good at reading you; he always knows how to make you comfortable. he’s the type to constantly have an arm wrapped around your shoulder, pulling you impossibly close into his side; he’s the type to keep your hand in his, his grip tight enough to make you feel anchored; he’s the type to introduce you into the conversation and help you feel at ease with the people you’re around. overall, changbin is the best boy out there <3

hyunjin ; hyunjin isn’t the most outgoing himself, i think he’d have some trouble taking the lead at first, at least socially, but he’d get the hang of it fairly quickly. he likes being someone you can depend on and he absolutely loves that you feel safe with him. he’d always be around if you needed him and he’d always be there to protect you. he seems like he’d be very verbal with it too. “don’t worry, baby, i got you.” 

jisung ; i don’t think that jisung is naturally very outgoing and able to talk to people he doesn’t know well unless he has people he knows already with him. with that being said, he really would try his hardest :( he’s so sweet and he really does the best he can to help you feel comfortable, but it would more turn into both of you being awkward and quiet and sticking to each other in public. 

felix ; felix just cares so much about you :( he’s the type to do all the talking for you if you want him to, or, on the other hand, he’ll make an active effort to include you in the conversation. he’s so loving and sweet, he’d definitely check up on you throughout the time that you’re out, grabbing your hand or shooting you that pretty smile of his every time he notices you getting more quiet than usual. he’s just so, so good at making you feel at ease <3

seungmin ; seungmin strikes me as the naturally dominant type. he’d have no problem taking the lead for you in social situations; doing the talking for you if you don’t feel up to it and standing close to you so you know he’s nearby. he’d think you were cute with how shy you got around people and he’d think the way you grabbed onto him was adorable :(

jeongin ; jeongin really loves that you feel safe enough with him to depend on him. being the youngest, his members usually coddle him and do everything for him and treat like, well… the youngest. with you, he feels like he can finally come into his own, he likes that you look to him for help, for safety, for some kind of cushion between you and the world. and he likes keeping you safe too; he’s just so happy you’re comfy with him :(

which is why he'll always buy you a cup of coffee along with a sweet treat and kiss on your head

if he's running late some days and he doesn't have time to make a pit stop at the coffee shop, he'll even make it himself

you can't dance for shit

or at least that's what everyone says, but minho assures you that you're not that bad (but you think he's just saying that cause he's your boyfriend)

which is why the both of you could usually be found in the practice rooms, blasting music on full volume while dancing to your heart's content

minho will usually go through the steps with you one by one, ever so patiently, a kind smile (usually only reserved for you) on his face

you probably mess up a bunch of times but he never gets mad at you or laughs at you (ok maybe a little) and is pleased to go through the steps again for you

changbin:

watches rom-coms with them

look, I know Binnie has his whole "I love dark" persona but let's be fucking honest, this boy is a soft boy, especially for his significant other

which is why when you beg him to watch one of your romantic comedies with you, he instantly agrees
