can i scan my eras tour ticket here? i’m in the speak now section? row i can see you with frank castle?
absolutely darling, right this way to your seat ;)
since this song screams bodyguard!frank to me, we're going to play with this in the bodyguard universe
i can see you (frank's version)
Tumblr media
frank is a professional. he's disciplined from his career in the military, he takes his job seriously, and he doesn't fuck around when it comes to someone's safety. he's the guy that everyone is intimidated by and afraid of bc they know what he's capable of, and he always looks like he's 2 seconds away from beating someone's ass
but around you? he completely melts
he's all wandering eyes, lingering stares, and cheesy grins
as much as he tried to fight it, he couldn't resist you. the temptation was too great, and the reward was too sweet
but in order to keep his job (bc now that you're his, there's no fucking way he's leaving your side unless it's in a bodybag, and even then-) the two of you agree to keep things strictly professional when you're around others
it pains frank to have to be so cold and cordial towards you, but he knows people would suspect something if he treated you differently than anyone else
sometimes frank is a little too good at his act, and that compels you to be a brat and tease him inconspicuously. you know it's dangerous to taunt him, knowing he can't react, and knowing that once he gets you alone there will be hell to pay, but that's the thrill of it all
it's stolen kisses when you're alone in the elevator, knowing smirks and flirty eye contact when no one else is looking, frank's large hand splayed just low enough on the small of your back to elicit a reaction from you but not enough to be considered unprofessional
it's hiding out in a storage closet at some party you could care less about bc he looks too damn good in a suit and you wore a dress with a high slit up the thigh on purpose to send him into a frenzy
it's covert meet ups in empty parking lots, frank sneaking through your window at the witching hour and sneaking out before twilight, the rush of your fingers brushing when you pass each other in the hall, frank's large hand clamped over your mouth to keep you quiet as he places you on your desk and shows you how much he's missed you
frank is your addiction, and you're his mission

PCWT: Closet Crafting, Discreet Devotions, and Inconspicuous Altars
Tumblr media
So while not necessarily in the full vein of Pop Culture Witchcraft and Pop Culture Paganism, I’ve had several requests regarding how to work one’s craft discreetly. And so I thought, why not put a little PCW spin on things while I’m at it at least?
Whether it’s a nervousness about being open as a witch, wanting to be more subtle, or in some cases harsh living situations, there’s several reasons to want to be perhaps more inconspicuous in one’s inner ways. Though in the case of the latter situation in particular, --please-- make sure to put your personal safety and well-being first before trying any of these tips. We cannot guarantee that you won’t get in any sort of trouble for these.
Starting off, we have
In-Game Ideas
Do you devote yourself to anyone in particular when it comes to Pop Culture Witchcraft or Pop Culture Paganism that stems from a game-based source? Do you enjoy playing games focused on decorating, building, or life simulators? Then why not try these tips!
Try making an altar or devotional space in games such as Animal Crossing, The Sims, Minecraft using in-game items or even modded items! Rooms and spaces can easily be made for general purposes such as elemental altars, nature-based altars, and depending on who you work with, even items that pertain to them in particular
Use games such as the aforementioned Animal Crossing or The Sims as a form of sympathetic magic! Want to focus on self-care and inner beauty? Why not give gifts to your favorite “Snooty” villager who represents those aspects? Want to perhaps make some misfortune come to someone? Make them into a Sim and get up to some mischief with their Sim-Poppet!
Don’t have space to do your own gardening but want to still do some sort of green witchery? Why not try farming sims such as Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons to scratch that botanical itch for the time being? You can even make digital spell jars in some cases by growing the plants that best represent your purpose and placing them in chests with other items that may also best represent that purpose?
These are just some possibilities in the way of In-Game methods of spellcrafting and the like, but what about those hidden little shows of devotion or love towards someone you work with outside of their mediums?
Discreet Devotions and Obscured Offerings
Hear me out: Devotional Ita Bags. Collect charms, pins, stickers, etc. of who or whatever you work with! Work with a traditional pertaining to solar energies? Why not a brightly colored bag with sun-based imagery? Work with a pop culture deity/entity/spirtit/etc.? Places like Etsy and Redbubble just to name a few have plenty of options when it comes to fan-merch (of course make sure that the stuff from Redbubble is not stolen from other artists)
Playing an RPG game or something similar? Why not devote a playthrough for whomever you wish? Make your character a hunter-based class in honor of someone associated with hunting and the wild! Pop Culture Wise, if working with a game characters, why not play as them if applicable or even bring positive actions to your character of choice? Boost their stats, complete some quests, the whole nine-yards for them!
We’ve mentioned this before, but why not try making private moodboards, Pinterest collections, or even music playlists for whomever you work with? Energy and devotion is still energy and devotion no matter the medium, ancient and traditional or even modern and tech-focused. At the end of the day, it’s your safety and comfort that matters the most.
While this isn’t a complete list of ideas, here’s a few to get yourself started! But as we’ve said before,
Do not compromise your health, safety, and/or financial stability for the sake of your craft.
You. Come. First.
But as always,
Stay safe, have fun, stay spooky! 🦇💜

im interested in tarot, but im a closeted witch and it'd be extremely hard to convince my parents to buy me a deck, so i was wondering if you had info on doing tarot using regular playing cards. also can i start doing tarot by using them directly?
im sorry, i uh tend to have rlly dumb questions sometimes. its just that i want a physical connection to my practice
Fun fact, people have been using playing cards as divination tools since the 18th century! Another fun fact: using any form of cards (oracle cards, playing cards, tarot cards, etc) is called cartomancy.
Now, I did a lot of research into this topic before answering your question, because I wanted to make sure I had the right answer for you. So, here a few resources to get you started on using playing cards for divination/cartomancy:
Divination with Playing Cards
How to Read Playing Cards: Suits, Jokers & Numerology
Playing Card Tarot suits and meanings
Major Arcana for Playing Cards
Cartomancy quick reference guide
Cartomancy Suits
Using playing cards for divination/readings
major differences between reading tarot and playing cards
As I'm sure you can see, a lot of people have a lot of different ways of interpreting playing cards. And while it may seem daunting, that's the beauty of divination: as your experience grows with using playing cards, you may feel inclined to add your own meanings/interpretations - and that's perfectly fine! Tailor your craft in a way that works for you. And what works for others may not work for you - so my key advice is to practice, practice, practice. Get comfortable with the cards. Really think about their meanings and the imagery behind them.
And lastly, I leave you with this: you should 10000% make your own oracle and/or tarot deck. Use a deck of playing cards, paint over them, and make them your own! You could keep them in the original playing card box to keep away prying eyes, and make it look inconspicuous. I recommend this guide for making your own oracle deck!
I hope this helps answer some of your questions, and I wish you well on your witchling/divination journey!

Book Review
For my next book review I will be covering "Protection & Reversal Magick: A Witch's Defense Manual" by Jason Miller. This book is another good beginner book specifically because most people get scared that something bad's going to happen to them when starting out any kind of magical practice.
The biggest selling point of the book is that it covers some of your more traditional folk practices two more ceremonial magic and everything in between. Jason Miller even mentions this by saying
"These different traditions of magick each emphasize different points, and what works as a defense against one may not work as a defense against another. Someone who relied solely on the Golden Dawn’s Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram or the OTO’s Star Ruby may find his defenses breached easily by someone laying Goofer Dust in his shoes. Similarly, someone who relies too heavily on Red Brick Dust and amulets may find himself vulnerable to the attacks of Goetic demons summoned by the ceremonialist."
And because of this, I would recommend this to anyone who kind of wants to get a feel of what both ceremonial and folk practices look like.
Now I'm going to move on to the only issues I had with the book. Just so people know what they're getting into before they spend money. A lot of the rituals are based on the goddess hecate. I don't work with her so I have had to alter them. That is something that can be easily done so it's not a major issue for me
Another thing is that it doesn't cover everything. For example I'm a fan of protective crystals on my window seals and door frames because those are super easy to conceal and explain away. Due to current living situation, I'm still very much in the broom closet. So I'm a big fan of anything that is inconspicuous and I can hide in plain sight. So even though I enjoyed this book, I don't use a lot of his techniques.
Even with those two issues aside, I would recommend this book. You're just not going to find another book that goes into such a wide variety of protection magic techniques. Because of that, anyone who reads this book should have a good foundation to start adding protection magic into their magical practice.

The room floods with white light. Harry is on his feet so fast that the chair topples and clatters to the floor, his wand in his hand and a spell on his lips. “They’re outside,” a voice speaks from the luminescent mist, magic barely enough to carry the sound; it’s stripped to a featureless monotone, far away like an echo. “I can’t hold them off much longer. I need help, Potter." Harry stares as the mist dissolves, its dazzling brightness leaving floating spots of colour on his retinas. Eyes watering, wand still clenched in his hand, he says: “Fuck.”

Common Objects & Uses - Buttons
Tumblr media
We’ve almost all experienced the loss of a button and it’s strange to think that someone may discover it hundreds of years from now and wonder who it once belonged to.
These little objects are often overlooked and I wanted to bring to light a common object that we almost all possess but don’t consider as a useful tool.
Buttons in the present day are predominantly made of plastic but can also be made from shell, horn, bone, fabric, metal, wood, glass and more.
More often than not they are found on clothing and have played a significant role in fashion through history and have been found dating as far back as 2000BC.
I’ve personally been fascinated by these little items since I was a child and took great pleasure tipping my Nans button collection out on a tray and looking at them all one by one.
This collection now lives with me and I still enjoy looking at them and in some cases remembering the garments that they once adorned.
As a collector and a witch I’ve often looked at my colourful collection and pondered the uses.
Uses
● Create symbols (or sigils) on clothing or cloth objects (cushions) by sewing them in place whilst focusing on your intent.
● Use them to give your poppets facial features.
● Use them in silencing spells to symbolise someone buttoning their lip. This is great for stopping someone spreading secrets or lies.
● Use them in binding spells.
● Wooden buttons represent earth and can be a great way of carrying that element with you. This works for shell buttons too as these represent water. If you know the type of shell or wood then these properties can also be called upon.
● Wooden buttons are great for painting and decorating with sigils, words or symbols which can be worn. You can do this on their face or if you’d prefer, on the back where others can’t view them. (Pyrography is great for this as it’s less likely to wear and wash off).
● Because of their inconspicuous nature, buttons are also useful for witches who are in the closet but want to carry elemental representations with them.
● Buttons often represent eyes and sight.
● Connection to the past and ancestral work can be achieved especially if you possess buttons that belonged to someone you wish to connect with. Eg. Buttons from Naval or Army uniforms, wedding dresses
● They work as a nice and thrifty (inconspicuous) alternative to gemstones if you consider colour correspondences.
Tumblr media
Many standard household items can be overlooked for their magickal uses.
It’s only when we sit down and really consider them that their light may shine.
If you sew, maybe take a look in your sewing box and consider the other uses your materials may have.

The Broom Closet Witch Guide
Hello, my dears! I’ve noticed since I’ve joined and also started posting, there’s quite a few witches who have to hide what they’re doing. The odd thing about me is that my family isn’t aware that I, y’know, dabble in witchcraft. It isn’t something we share at the Thanksgiving table. Living with a parent can make this difficult, though.
This short guide is mostly targeted at younger witches who are scared of their parents figuring things out or are in a dorm, however some of these tips can be used in other situations.
Tumblr media
1.)
Altars
You may not be able to keep an altar in the open, but many witches use shoe boxes or old jewelry boxes to contain items. Mint tins have also been used to hold items or if you wanted to decorate the inside, you could use it as a way to pay respect to a deity. You could also use a suitcase to become an altar.
There’s some plane jane wooden boxes you can decorate at Walmart and Dollar General (that I’ve seen with my own four eyes, but obviously you can find them elsewhere). Also, I believe this is just a spring or easter type thing, at the Dollar Tree there’s currently decorative, small boxes of different sizes. The blue, glittery box at the end of this post is one I bought there.
I have an altar that’s out in the open but I also have a small travel altar I made from a mint tin. I have made a post about it previously where I discussed what I put inside of it and what the items’ purposes are-- that you can find right here.
2.)
Deities, Saints, & The Elements
It is not uncommon to use candles to represent deities but if you feel uncomfortable with owning many candles, you can get creative. You could gather rocks and paint them, draw a figure and cut them out, or use special items like coins or glass figures.
If you are wanting to have all the elements represented, there are ways to do this as well. In another blog of mine I mentioned that you could use fuzzy socks to represent fire because they would stand for warmth and comfort. You could use hand fans, small portable electric fans, or a feather to represent air. You can use a sea shell or a small spray bottle with water in it to represent water. For earth, you could collect rocks, dried flowers, or even make something from clay. Just like using rocks to represent deities, you could do the same for the elements by painting them with their symbols.
For my element rocks I created, they’re pictured at the bottom of this blog.
3.)
Resources & Books
If you’re scared of owning or buying physical copies of books, there’s still other ways of reading up and researching. Obviously, you have tumblr which provides so many ideas and tips. You can also find PDFs of books online through websites (example: PDF Drive). On eBay, there’s also very cheap PDFs of books.
Outside of this, public libraries still exist. You can read whatever book you’d like while you are there and then type in your phone’s notes what page you’re on. Continue where you left off when you return. There’s also normally library resources online where you use your library card number. Some of these sites are Hoopla, Freading, and Overdrive.
Lastly, there’s apps that can help inform you about astrology, moon phases, plants, oils, and crystals. I would suggest Plant Net, Spellcaster, Moon Calendar, My EO, Co-Star, Stone, and Picture This.
If you’re interested in tarot cards or runes, there’s apps also for this. I currently use an app called Rune.
4.)
Items For Your Altar
Using an empty candle holder, a small glass/ceramic/metal bowl, or a soap dish can have different uses. The candle holder or bowl can be used as an offering bowl or be used to burn sigils to activate them. The soap dish can be useful to become a make-shift incense holder or to also hold offerings or burn items. I have a soap dish shaped like a sea shell that is bowl-ish almost in shape that could work perfectly. To make an incense holder, use some candle wax to keep the incense in place.
For an altar cloth, you could use spare fabric for sewing or from old clothes, towels, and bandannas.
If you’re to buy any candle, a white candle is all-purpose. You could also use birthday candles. A small lighter would be perfect and discrete.
I also made a guide on easily obtained wands (that I haven’t posted on here, just amino) but one that may work perfectly if you’re trying to not raise suspicion —is using wooden pencils (yes, with their lead!). Some magical uses of lead include: concentration, protection, banishing negativity, providing stability, promoting contact with spirits, and etc.
5.)
Book of Shadows or Grimoire
Afraid of having your book found? You can use a secret language or.. use google docs or writing websites (take advantage of drafts, they aren’t published for the public but you can view them!) Google Docs can be used online or off if enabled in the settings. Writing websites used could be Wattpad, PoetBay, Quotev, Movellas, and etc.
6.)
Hiding Items and Material
You can always hide items in large books or inconspicuous places like pencil pouches, socks, and drawers. If you want to hide pieces of paper, try hiding them in scrapbooks, behind pictures in picture frames, or inside movie cases. There’s also hollowed out books that may be of use!
On apps like Instagram and Pinterest, you may find images of useful tips or spells that you want to save. To hide those pictures, you can install apps like Calculator+. This is a secret gallery of photos disguised as a calculator. You have a password you type in on the calculator and bam you get access to those pictures.
7.)
Divination
Pendulums are easy to make and take apart! You can use keys, rings, nails, and etc along with thread/string. If you want to make a pendulum board or mat to go along with them, they’re also easy to create. Just look at images of boards and make your own version.
I already mentioned there’s apps for tarot and runes but you can also use an ordinary deck of cards to read tarot. There’s guides online! I mentioned one guide in particular on my “Broke Ass Witch Guide: Dollar Tree Items” post you can find here.
You can also use dice for divination. For my pocket altar, I didn’t have any dice on me but I did have clay-- so I made one. You can do the same or maybe make one from paper using a ruler or an already existing template. However, I’ve also seen regular packs of dice at Dollar Tree.
Just A Note
Because I’m a sap.
You are still a witch with your current limitations and I adore you. Don’t threaten your safety if you’re in a strict household. One day you will be on your own and be able to do whatever makes you feel happy and complete. Witchcraft is not about expensive cauldrons, crystals bigger than Texas, rare herbs, and aesthetically pleasing photos for tumblr. Witches are crafty and adapt, they use what they have on them. Some items I would suggest as a basic kit would be: colored ink pens, a wooden pencil, paper, thread (for binding, for making a pendulum), a white candle (if possible!), a small lighter,  a spray bottle with a mixture of water and salt (for cleansing), and your creativity. You have a big brain under that pointy hat, I know it.

Baby Witch Tip!
Hello all! I am a new beginner witch and I made this blog to archive useful information I find and to share some tips I think of and the progress of my journey. If any experience witch has any suggestions or concerns, feel free to reblog/comment I welcome all advice :)
Anyways, as someone who is is the broom closet and also a beginner I thought of something the other day that may be helpful to my fellow beginners or those in the broom closet (if you live in a household that celebrates Christmas). I live in a part of the world where there are not pine trees growing year round, so pine needles are pretty hard to come by, yet they are also pretty common in spells. So I had an idea, to take the dried pine needles from the bottom of my families Christmas tree! I would recommend this to anyone, its free and pretty inconspicuous too. I personally collected them at night so no one saw me, but if someone did you could just say that you were cleaning up or that you were saving them because you like the smell.
Thanks for reading!

things for the student witch
Tumblr media
+ bring a crystal or stone in your pencil case for focus and grounding into the exam hall [hematite, obsidian, etc.]
+ binder grimoire. I repeat, binder grimoire. not only can you add more pages and take pages out, you can also do it on the go and inconspicuously in school
+ carry a small spray bottle (dollar stores should have your back) of charged water [moon water, storm water, sun water, etc.] or salt water, you never know when you might need it
+ sigils on your school supplies, and charge them on your commute to school or overnight when you sleep
+ glamours during lessons when you don’t know the answers or simply don’t feel like listening to the lesson [my air cloaking glamour here]
+ enchant your headphones or earphones so they don’t get lost or so that teachers don’t notice them
+ draw exam sigils using skin-safe ink pens on body parts that won’t be in plain sight so you can go into the exam with them
+ bring a mini sewing kit around. I got mine for like $2 at the dollar store and it contains thread, and a few buttons and safety pins and needles. this is perfect for binding and hexing spells or quick spells on the go
+ charge clear quartz or other crystals using the energy from the crowd during school events. depending on the mood, this can be the perfect offering for spirits or be used to power spells
+ for closeted witches, you can keep witchcraft supplies in your locker if it has a lock, also perfect for accessibility and grabbing items on the fly
+ bring your spirit companions to school, who knows maybe they’ll love sitting in on lessons or just following you about your day?
+ shields shields shields from toxic people and negative energy, or if you just want to be able to walk through the hordes of the other students in the morning without feeling like you’re going to have a breakdown
+ slip coins in your pocket as offerings for school spirits or ghosts or other beings you may meet
+ sun water in your bottle or enchant lip balm for confidence to speak during a presentation or during an oral assessment or in front of a crowd
+ school supplies can double as spell materials. correction tape or whiteout fluid for erasing properties, staples and paper clips and safety pins for binding, pens in different ink colors for different correspondences [my correspondence list for school supplies here]
+ cleanse your classroom, I don’t know about you but my class has a poor energy flow and gets really gunky and everyone gets really cranky about it and the learning environment can be really giddy at times
+ glamours to keep prefects from noticing if you forgot a vital part of your uniform or is caught breaking a school rule
+ write someone’s name on a post-it and crumple it with emotion and toss it into the bin (or recycling bin, be eco-friendly folks) for a quick jinx
+ enchant your shoes for vitality and energy and endurance during physical education lessons
+ bring a thermos flask to school and make tea during recess or lunch breaks
honestly witches in schools can get a whole lot of opportunities for witchcraft on the go, it’s just a matter of how creative you can get with your witchcraft. feel free to add on yeah!

Pop Culture Witch Tips #1: Inconspicuous Invocations and Closet Cosplay
Tumblr media
In some of the pop culture witchcraft / pop culture paganism books you may come across, you may find passages on how you can invoke the character of your choice through cosplay. However, let’s say you’re either a). On a budget or b). Can’t find a costume for your character. Plus there’s a bit of a snag in the cosplay-invocation plan in that, it’s sadly somewhat socially unacceptable to wear things like magical girl attire to most jobs.
So why not try out a bit of “closet cosplay” instead?
It doesn’t even need to be a big fancy outfit! Just something that helps remind you of the character of your choice whether it be through color scheme or certain accessories.
For example, here’s an example of outfit I wear most often when I want to take on a more powerful, magical mindset. (While not fully exact to what I wear, it should still get the point across)
Tumblr media
Could you tell who this is meant to resemble? Probably not. Do -I- know who it’s meant to invoke in a way that matters to me? Hell yes. Could I still get away with wearing something like this out in public or private? Yup!
Wanna feel confident for a job interview? Get a subtle accessory that reminds you of a character that you associate with success and work it into your outfit. Wanna feel more pumped for exercise? Get a t-shirt or accessory of a character you associate with strength and wear it on your person!
Hopefully this helps you get some ideas for ways you can subtly invoke those you work with for your workings.
As always, stay safe, have fun, stay spooky 💜

Altars Don’t Have To Be Elaborate
Hi tumblr, I’m gonna get a little intimate, and show you my room and altars. Of course, everyone’s craft is different, but I see a lot of elaborate (and beautiful) altars and not many simple ones on here! I think this is less because most people’s are fancy, and more because us less fancy folks don’t share as often so, here I am to represent!
Tumblr media
Almost every item on here is from the dollar store, exceptions being the crystals and incense which were gifts, but altogether still less than $20 if I’d bought everything on here.
The minimalism is part necessity, living low budget in a small space with family at the moment, and part general resistence to the commodification of spirituality. But it actually makes me personally feel a lot freer and more in control of my space, where having a lot of tools and decorations out all the time can make me feel a bit claustrophobic, of course that isn’t applicable to everyone. I still like to decorate for holidays from time to time!
This altar is subtle but includes all the elements and is ready to go, with space to work and add other tools whenever I need to! It is also closet witch friendly! It’s on a bookshelf that is right next to my desk, which is inconspicuous already, and it immediately hides behind the door to my room when you open it. (Forgive my messy desk).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn’t perfect but since I’m an adult and my family aren’t too snoopy, it works out just fine where I don’t feel stressed on the occassion they drop in. I also have shelves underneath for extra supplies, books, tarot cards, more candles, moon water, spell bottles, etc.
Tumblr media
I also keep a sort of mini-altar by my bed for morning meditations and dream work (and the water doubles as, well, drinking water)
Tumblr media
I use one of those plastic shelves of drawers because 1. cheap and 2. I can still keep my books, meds, chapstick, hairties, and other things I want nearby underneath, and without any clutter
The moral of the story is witchcraft isn’t just for millionaires. You can do a lot with a little, and if it is something that brings you genuine empowerment or joy you don’t have to seperate it away from the rest of your life. If you feel so inclined, show us yours too! Do you prefer more minimalist or more elaborate, and why?

Budget/Broom Closet Witch
As a relatively new witch, budgeting my craft and keeping it on the down-low is super important, and I thought I would share some tips and tricks I have come across that have helped me. A lot of these tips are central to colour and scents/fragrances, as I have found that these are the easiest ways to subtly practice your craft right in front of people without them being none the wiser.
Scented and coloured soaps This is a really good way to implement fragrances into your day-to-day life. It’s super discreet and no one is going to question your lavender-scented soap. Some soaps are super low-budget friendly and also come in such a wide range of fragrances. This is a cool alternative for those who have asthma or are unable to burn incenses or candles.
Perfume Choices Choosing nice perfumes is a thing I love doing, and is also a great way to be super discreet. You can co-ordinate your perfumes to tailor to a specific need for the day ahead. For example, musk perfume is quite popular, and it promotes courage and vitality.  I know perfumes can be quite costly, but chances are you can grab samples from the boutique for, if not free, then a low price.
Scented Lotions Again, this is similar to the soaps and perfumes. The Body Shop has an incredible range of scented body lotions, and if they are too pricy, hand creams can be a great alternative.
Houseplants Certain houseplants can be placed in certain rooms to promote particular energy or magick. For example, Jasmine is good for wealth and love and may be placed in the heart of a home to promote these attributes. Similarly, Lavender is good for peace and happiness and might like to be planted near the entrance to your home or space. Buying matured plants can be pricey, but seeds can be bought from a nearby gardening store, and watering these seeds with moon/sun water, as well as dousing them with love, can help enhance their qualities.
Bells and Ornaments Hanging up near the front door, I have a few old keys which attract positive energy and deflect the negative simultaneously. On my bedroom door, I have small bells hanging from its handle which both cleanses my space and also provides protection through an enchantment I placed on them.  Using small decorative items around the home and enchanting them is a great way to be discreet about your craft and is also fabulous when on a tight budget.
Decorative Candles  My mum is just a huge lover of candles, so we naturally have many candles lying around the house. If your parents or roommates are similar, buying coloured candles and placing them in certain rooms is great when dealing with colour magick. This way, you can promote certain energies without causing too much of a commotion. For example, having a pink candle burning around the lounge room can enhance the qualities of love, friendship and affection, while a green candle (growth, luck, money and success) can be burnt in a place where you work or study or pay bills. Candles of varying sizes can be bought from dollar stores or even in Coles or Woolies down in the homewares aisle. Many are budget-friendly, but if all else fails: birthday candles.
Phone/Computer Cases and Wallpapers Again, colour magick is super lowkey and budget-friendly, especially when it can be as simple and inconspicuous as changing your phone case or wallpaper. If you’re low on creativity, change your wallpaper to a nice orange, or if you’re suffering from lots of negative energy, a black wallpaper can help. It’s super quick and easy and doesn’t cost an arm or a leg. Setting your wallpaper with a sigil is also another great way to implement magick into your day whilst also keeping it lowkey.
Bedding and Towels Washing your sheets and towels in certain scents is another easy way to keep your craft on the down-low. Washing your sheets in Lavender scented soap will promote peace for troubled sleepers. The same can be said about towels; winding down for the night. Again, this is very subtle and is also budget-friendly. After all, washing liquids are a common household need.
This post was a lot longer than I had anticipated but I really hope it helps. As I am still new to witchcraft, some of the things I have said may be wrong, so please let me know if they are and I can fix them up for the benefit of others.
xx

putting this here just to sort of document it
very long story short, i have come to the conclusion that my car is in the need of some cleansing, and is likely the culprit for my intense anxiety around driving, which is making it very difficult for me to get my license
i am also both a broke and closet witch, so i have made do with what i have, heres what i came up with
*disclaimer: i do not usually make tutorials and i am far from an expert, almost everything in this post was researched in the span of a few hours, so please correct me if i’m wrong. this is simply here for me as documentation, and inspiration for others
Cleansing Satchel aka my “diy car freshener”
 - a small mesh bag (a quick google search tells me what i have is called an organza bag, they are apparently normally used for party favors and weddings. can be found at walmart, craft stores, and party stores. i have no clue where mine came from)
 - a small piece of amethyst (so it is is easily hidden and goes unnoticed)
 - earl grey lavender tea (a blend of black tea, oolong tea, lavender, and bergamot)
 - elastic string (i ripped mine from the car freshener previously in my car)
the why
note: i lucked out with having this particular tea and everything happened to correspond very nicely with cleansing, safe driving, and easing anxiety. make substitutions where you need to and to fit your needs!
amethyst for cleansing, protection, focus, and luck
black tea for courage
oolong tea for emotional balance, serenity, and concentration
lavender for for cleansing, luck, healing, and protection
steps
i feel like this is pretty self explanatory, but place the tea blend and amethyst in your small mesh bag, ensuring there is enough tea blend in your little satchel to hide the amethyst piece if your situation calls for it
tie the elastic string around your satchel however you like, so long as it will support the satchel
hang from your review mirror as you would any other car freshener
tip: have a good excuse on hand in case anyone asks about it (the tea expired but it still smelled good and i didn’t want to waste it or normal car fresheners are too strong and i wanted something more subtle or i just wanted something new/customized)
Cleansing Spray
- amethyst and tea blend as listed above
- a spray bottle (the smaller the better if you’re trying to be inconspicuous, i’m using a teeny little 0.5 oz bottle that use to have catnip mist in it. if you’ve bought the stuff you know what i’m talking about)
- water (sun or moon, or even just water you’ve put intent into)
steps
again, self explanatory, but put your amethyst, tea blend, and water in your spray bottle. you can charge your water beforehand, or charge the spray bottle with all the ingredients once it’s assembled. afterwards give your car or wherever a good sprits, and hide the bottle if need be.
you can also remove the tea leaves and amethyst and keep the infused water on the off chance the bottle is discovered. a spray bottle with water in it is a lot easier to explain than a spray bottle with gems and herbs in it. use cold water if you plan on doing this because tea takes longer to steep in cold water and will make it less likely to discolor the water.
note: amethyst is a water safe crystal, but if you want to make a substitution, please check that your crystal is water safe, OR make a gem elixir using one of the indirect methods and use that for your water.

Killer.
PART SIX
3:15am
Normally classed as the witching hour, but the air was humid tonight. Sticky, hot, uncomfortable and Lisa absolutely could not sleep. Alone in bed, her mind kept slipping away from her and into a half dream, half conscious re-run of everything that had happened tonight. Her head was itching from the stiches and she still had a lump in her throat from receiving the sudden nugget of wisdom that the tall, dark and handsome man who rescued her was also a contract killer.
Killer.
She had to keep repeating that over and over in her mind. Lisa didn’t judge him, nor could she, for the job he had. Lisa had dusty, panic-inducing skeletons tucked away in her closet that kept her from putting Barry on the same platform of as the other men she had met in her life. There was absolutely no reason for her to pursue him, not reason at all but she couldn’t help but lay in bed and think of him. She kept running her fingers over her lips where he had kissed her and feeling herself subconsciously slip back to her couch less than 6 hours ago, when her hair was entangled desperately in Barry’s fingers and her tongue in his mouth. She could flatly admit that the amount of sexual partners she had under her belt were in the triple digits but it was always about business. Nothing preconceived, just money. Barry however, made her feel alive, cared for. She longed so painfully to be touched and to actually feel it for once and she had more than felt it with him. The lust in his eyes, the way those eyes drank in every inch of her, the way his breathing stopped whenever she moved closer, the way he held the back of her neck, the ferocity in his kiss, the smile he gave her when she finally got to say her name. He was like a wild animal unleashing his urges for the very first time but she felt it. She enjoyed it.
He kills people.
She tossed and turned and forced her eyes shut, but all she could see was him. The little guilty smile he gave before he left, the thousand and one apologies that fell from his face and the knowledge that, whether it’s for business or not, she would more than likely see him again. She smiled and immediately kicked herself for doing so, in the verbal form of “You stupid fuckin’ bitch, Lisa.” She shook her head, lunged out of bed and headed for the shower, accepting the fact that she was in for a sleepless night.
*****
Work was rough that night. After 4 tedious business men, 5 painfully dull hours, 4 pitiful ejaculations, 4 limp dicked pricks claiming through their groans that they really loved their wives and four convincing scouts honour promises from Lisa not to tell said wives; she took the routine walk back to her apartment to the tune of around a thousand dollars. She enjoyed the consistency and amount of money she made, and sometimes it could be fun. You’ll get the odd experienced tourist looking for a quick slit to slip in their dick, or the bumbling Brit who had never seen a clit. She grinned to herself. Easy money, she thought. Her prideful strut was interrupted, however, by none other than the man that had been on her mind for the last 72 hours.
“Well I’ll be damned,” She looked him up and down, very much back to her old self after a very successful, albeit boring, night of work. “You look good, a little stiff but good.” She smiled, twirling a lit cigarette around her fingers. She felt better this time.
“Stiff?” Barry looked down at her, raising his brows. He couldn’t help but take her in. She looked good. Her amber curls were glossy and wild, her scent warm and alluring, her makeup understated but enhancing those huge blue eyes; her long lashes fluttered and those full ruby lips were all enough to make Barry want to fall to his knees. This strange hold she had on him, unbeknownst to her, made Barry uncomfortable but he couldn’t falter. He had to get her to safety.
“Yeah, kinda like an erection.” She muffled as she smoked. “You’re like this,” Taking the cigarette out of her mouth, she made herself deliberately upright, straight and narrow like a soldier, holding her jacket against her tightly. She shot him a dead eyed looked and amplified her voice to give it more authority. “I’m Barry. No colour, no nonsense, no fun.” She jested, waving the cig around. “Although I guess it works cause, y’know... anonymity and all that.”
Barry softened his gaze, a smile daring to creep over his pale, tired looking face.
“So are you here to stitch me up then leave me hanging again or-”
“We need to get you back to your apartment. Now.” He looked around and then immediately put his arm around her, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible as he led her off into the night.
“Keen, aren’t we?” She grinned.
They were almost at the entrance of her apartment before she turned on her heels and looked up at him, blocking the door.
“So,” She placed her hands in front of her. “What the fuck is up?”
“Huh?” Barry quizzed, looking around and waving his hand towards the door. “We’re uh... we’re going into your place, c’mon let’s go we gotta-” His chest was met with Lisa’s hand as he tried to barge past her.
“Hold up. You arrive, you pull a Prince Charming, give me an intimate 7 seconds of great, great passion, up and leave and suddenly show up at my spot and try to take me home.” She grinned, folding her arms. “Explain.”
Barry had had just about enough. He grabbed her arm and spun her around, pushing open the large door and hauling her into the lobby. He spoke quickly and impatiently, not looking at her once, looking for the familiar door. “Fuches is mad because I had to kill one of the Chechens for you so he asked me to take you out but doesn’t think I will so now we gotta get you out of here before they show up and try to do it instead- which one is your fuckin' door?” He took a breath, still wandering up the stairs. Lisa’s mind was spinning.
“Who the fuck is Pukes?”
“Fuches. Which door?!”
“Seven!” She wiggled out of his grasp and straightened out her coat. “Shiiit...” She went to light up another cig but Barry knocked it out of her hand and gently pushed her towards the door.
As soon as they entered the apartment, he immediately went into her bedroom. “Do you have a suitcase?” He still hadn’t looked at her.
“Barry, come on man just take a breath and-”
“Lisa if we don’t get you out of here you’re gonna die.” He said, finally looking at her. “We need to get you as far away from here as possible.” He crouched by her bed, looking underneath it for something to pack her things into.
Lisa was growing more and more impatient with this fast paced, ambiguous Barry. “No.” She said flatly. Barry looked up at her, slowly rising up.
“What?”
“No, Barry. This is my place, my job, my life. It’s not my fault your fuckin bosses came to my place at the wrong time and pissed me off.” She pursed her lips and stood her ground with her arms folded, trying to ignore how much he towered over her.
“Pack your things. Now.” He growled. In spite of herself, she almost liked this version of Barry. She shook her head and squared up to him, slowly rising on her tip toes until she was inches away from his face.
“No... fuckin... way...” She whispered.
Barry was suddenly aware of how close she was. Her coat had opened a little and he caught a glimpse of the black dress she was wearing. He had to stop himself from licking his lips when he glanced down to her pushed up cleavage. His lip trembled, his eyes darted up and down her body, his face inching closer and closer...
"Fuck..." He growled, admitting defeat with a shudder. “Fine!” He made his way to the door and grabbed her key, locking and latching it behind him. Lisa could only stare wide-eyed whilst Barry made quick work of whizzing around her house, closing her windows and curtains and switching off all of the lights, all except one lamp in her living room. Finally he returned to his spot right by her face. “We’ll stay, but when they come knocking, we are not here. Got it?” His expression was wild.
Lisa simply grinned, triumphantly retrieving her cigarette once again and, as she slowly placed it between her lips, she softly said. “Sleepover.”
