Ooh this is a great question! I'd probably have to go with this bit of chosen family, my Parksborn-in-the-MCU AU:

“Are you sure you want to do this, Harry?” Peter asks, concern in his voice. His hand rubs up and down Harry’s back, a reassurance. “You don’t have to, you know. It’s your home too.” “I want to.” Harry tells him, and it’s true. He does not tell him it was my home, but it isn’t anymore, he does not tell him a home is a place where you are safe and I have never been safe here, and he does not tell him home is where the heart is and my heart is with you. He has a feeling Peter knows anyway.

I really liked writing this section! Harry finally getting to stand up for himself felt earned by the time I finished, and honestly Parksborn is so underrated. My kingdom for a Harry in Spiderman 4...

It also took me forever to finish this fic, but I poured everything I had into it and I hope that it shows. This was my COVID contribution because creativity vacated my body immediately after this and replaced it with Animal Crossing & Stardew Valley.

Bonus:

(Harry wonders if there is a world out there where his father is proud of him. He wonders how much of his soul Norman asked for in return. Here, in this world, he is a disappointment. It is not, he thinks, the worst thing he could be.)

Love having little asides when I do a canon-adjacent AU, it's my kryptonite.

5.) What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?

I had to sit and think about this one, but I think I'd have to say Tony. It's not who I want to identify with necessarily xD but I think that's the truth. He's the hero of change, of being better than you were yesterday and choosing that, every day. Peter, in some capacity, because he believes in inherent goodness, and that's something I strive for.

18.) Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.

Ooh, this is a curious one! the world is not kind wasn't originally supposed to be a canon-adjacent AU. May dying instead of Ben was in theory supposed to change a lot more (the defining question of that fic was to figure out what it would change), but once I started writing it, it didn't really work. Ben's presence added a different flavor, but ultimately led to the same result. What changed was the emotional throughline; with May's death leaving a differently-shaped hole, but a hole nonetheless. It's about the journey, right?

the world is not kind also has two distinct continuation ideas, one of which involved following Ben and May's story, partially through Ben's POV; I've got about 7.5k of that down, and I still pick at it every once in a while.

The newly returned Avengers think Tony is just being a jerk when he knocks things off of tables and counters, because they think he’s doing it on purpose. Despite the angsty summary, this is all about the team coming back together and Tony learning that the people in his life can’t accept him as he is until given the chance to know him as he is.

Peter Parker is strong. Very strong. Everyone knows this, most of all Tony, who has to consider the kids strength in order to design Peter’s suits.

But knowing that someone is strong is very different from experiencing it. Tony thought he had seen first hand how strong Peter is, but he was wrong. He had only seen part of it.

The first time Tony realized just how terrifyingly strong Peter is, was when the Avengers found Aunt Mays body in the rubble after a battle. It took 4 Avengers to hold Peter back from the scene, as his screams turned from “i have to save her” to “i want to join her”

a genuinely angry peter parker is so so so dangerous and insane you guys need to start seeing the vision.

he wouldn’t hold back— verbally anyways, he knows exactly what to say and how to say it to make sure it HURTS. even if he doesn’t exactly support or agree with what he’s saying, if he knows it’ll hurt he will not hesitate to say it and defend it.

peter who wants nothing more than to run away but can’t do it successfully if tony’s looking, he decides the best course of action is to make him and the rest of the avengers hate him and it WORKS because he knows where to hit and just . help.
