San Francisco playlist
Tumblr media
San Francisco  - my favorite city in the world! The bands, the music, the songs are all here, in this playlist I created. I threw in a bit of Sac and went south by San Jose, Monterrey and up past Sausalito. Can we make it to 250 songs? Let me know what bands/songs I left out.
Tumblr media
Have I left out a song or a band in this San Francisco playlist? Let me know! Cheers!

WHAT WHEN WEAR: A loose linen blouse. An untouched plate of madeleines. An empty French bistro in the Valley on a Tuesday at 4 p.m. These are the poised circumstances under which I spend an afternoon attempting to better understand one of Hollywood’s most discreet young celebrities: Elizabeth Olsen.
The 30-year-old actress’s identity doesn’t seem like it would lend itself to much mystery. Since 2014, Olsen has starred as the Scarlet Witch in Marvel’s superhero movie franchise—one of the most-watched film series in entertainment history. (This summer’s Avengers: Endgame quickly became the second-highest-grossing movie of all time.) It’s a role she’ll reprise later with WandaVision, a Disney+ spin-off series about her superhero character coming spring 2021. In the meantime, Olsen executive produces and stars in Sorry for Your Loss, a drama series following Olsen as Leigh, a young widow struggling to deal with the sudden loss of her husband. (The show airs on Facebook Watch, and its second season premieres October 1.) By any objective measure, business is booming for Olsen, the younger sibling of Ashley and Mary-Kate, who long ago reached a level of fame so behemoth they no longer need a last name. The Olsens are as much American royalty as the Kennedys or the Rockefellers. I should know everything about Elizabeth Olsen.
And yet, as soon as she walks through the door of Petit Trois (the setting she chose for our interview) and introduces herself to me, it sinks in how little I do know. “I’m Lizzie,” she says with a jumpy half-hug, half-handshake—though the awkwardness is entirely my fault. I’m caught off guard that the young starlet lives just outside of L.A., around the corner from where she grew up (I would have pegged her for more of a hip Eastside girl), and I never knew she went by the cozy nickname. “Thanks for coming to the Valley,” she says, smiling.
Following behind two heavy-hitting child stars turned esoteric fashion moguls, Olsen, who decided at a young age to pursue a career in acting (and obtained a degree in it from NYU), had prodigious shoes to fill. Her on-screen breakout, a critically lauded lead in the 2011 Sundance hit Martha Marcy May Marlene, suggested that Olsen would be taking a cleverly divergent route from her older sisters—one of a risk-taking indie cinema darling. Some of her filmography still reflects that identity—roles in quirky small-budget dramedies like 2012’s Liberal Arts and 2017’s Ingrid Goes West.
Maybe that’s why, even after all the Marvel movies, which are about as commercial as they come, I still see her in that light. Or maybe it’s Olsen’s enigmatic personal life, almost laissez-faire approach to style (“A combination of suburban mom meets little boy,” is how she describes it), and overall serenity of manner that create the sort of intrigue that independent film girls tend to have.
Her current project, Sorry for Your Loss, certainly has some of that indie energy, simply because Facebook Watch is still a new and unknown content platform. Olsen admits that selling the show to Facebook felt like a scary move in the beginning since most audiences don’t know that watching TV on Facebook is a thing at all. Moving into season two, she’s still figuring out the best way to spread the word to audiences. “There is no precedent, and that can be really challenging,” Olsen emphasizes. Still, there are major pluses to the marriage of television and social media, especially for a show that addresses a topic as personal and underrepresented as grief. “The show living on Facebook has been interesting because of the dialogue people get to have about their own experiences with grief and loss on the platform,” Olsen says.
The actress is looking forward to audiences’ feedback on season two, which finds Leigh “taking big swings, making big mistakes, and trying to figure out the balance.” As Olsen says, “Grief isn’t something that you ever just shut a door on or move forward from. It’s very cyclical.”
Olsen, however, will not be participating in these conversations with fans herself, because—ironically—she’s not on Facebook. She didn’t have a trace of social media presence until 2017. She finally downloaded Instagram shortly after the release of Ingrid Goes West, in which she pulls off playing a very convincing L.A. influencer. In contrast to millennial celebrities who use social media to speak about everything from beauty products to social justice, Olsen doesn’t feel the obligation to be any sort of influencer, politically or otherwise. “If I like blending into a wall, screaming from a stage isn’t something that would help me enjoy my life,” she says. “Sometimes I just don’t want to be part of a conversation because I don’t want anyone looking my way.”
As it turns out, privacy and stability inform everything about Olsen’s life—from how she dresses to the roles she chooses—more than any desire to seem “cool.” She lives in suburbia with her fiancé, musician Robbie Arnett, where she enjoys cooking, eating, and dabbling in interior design. “I love food more than I love anything that has to do with clothes,” she says, starkly contrasting her stylish sisters. (Though the actress is more of a beauty girl—she currently serves as a global ambassador for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.) Categorizing herself as an “obsessive, detailed perfectionist” beset with a heavy dose of social anxiety, Olsen prefers poring over moldings and wood stains than obsessing over how her body looks in a dress and which angle she should pose in.
Transforming into a character—wearing costumes, acting on camera—puts the performer right at home, but photoshoots and red carpets, which give her no role to disappear into, are a source of great distress. “I don’t like standing out in a crowd,” she tells me just after ordering the dainty plate of madeleines. Our server also named raspberry tarts and pains au chocolat on her list of available pastries, but down to her desserts, off-screen Olsen likes to keep it simple.
“At 30, I feel like I’m finally getting to an age that was meant for my personality,” the actress says with no ounce of irony. “Just domesticated. A homebody.” I introduce her to the term JOMO: the joy of missing out. “Yeah… that,” she confirms. “I never feel bad about not leaving my house.”
Quietude feels inherent to Olsen’s personality, but it’s also something she learned from her family. She tells me her parents have had the same group of 10 friends their whole lives; so have her older sisters. Like other famously private Hollywood families (the Coppolas, the Fondas), the Olsens justifiably keep their circles tiny and exclusive to those with whom they have history—those they can trust. “I don’t have too many friends that I’ve met through work,” Olsen says. “I care about privacy. I don’t have a desire for people to speak about me.” Bottom line: Lizzie Olsen is not particularly interested in fame.
Ultimately, no matter how superhuman she appears on the big screen, Olsen values a fairly normal life: She wants her pastries from Petit Trois, where everybody knows her; she wants her white button-downs and her stable paychecks from Facebook and Marvel (most of which she’s been tucking away in savings to prepare for a family, she says). “Maybe I think about things too rationally, but my career goals are longevity and stamina,” Olsen tells me. “Working steadily, feeling challenged, and just kind of hunkering down for a bit.” One day, that paycheck might come from a less visible job; Olsen says that later in life she’d like to go back to school for a degree in architecture, interior design, or landscaping. “I’m interested in the new science of irrigation and water conservation in California,” she shares. “I could be someone who’s lived multiple lives, multiple careers.”
Before heading out, Olsen packs the six madeleines, which have all gone untouched, in a to-go box for later, when she’s home, to savor in her quiet, happy place. “The next career could be a lot more private,” she says. “Maybe. We shall see.”

Magic Experiment Log, Experiments 001-006
I love Magic: The Gathering. Shit, half the reason I’m on Tumblr is to read Maro’s blog.
One of the things I particularly enjoy is the ability to build new things. Like many players, I don’t copy popular decks, I brew my own. Usually they’re jank, sometimes they work, but I enjoy them all the same. The fun is about the process, the trying out of new ideas. And I do take a somewhat scientific approach - I don’t track numbers all that precisely, but I test ideas by experiment.
I go a bit beyond most players. I do custom card design so I can explore design space I don’t think will ever be explored. I’ve tinkered with creating entire formats - I’ve played Magic without rule 104.3b and 104.3d, just to see what that does to the metagame.
And so it should surprise nobody that, when I made a Cube, I did some weird things. I’ve been playing it for a few months now, so I’ve tried a lot of new ideas. Some of them worked really well, some didn’t. And in the spirit of scientific “publish or perish”, these are the rough results of all my sciencing the shit out of Magic.
Experiment 001: Altered Pack Structure
Most official sets consist of packs with one rare/mythic, three uncommons, ten commons, and a basic land. Some sets will swap the basic land for a common nonbasic (like a guildgate) or a themed card (a conspiracy or draft-matters card in CNS/CNS, or a contraption in UST), and some will swap a common for a double-faced card.
Hypothesis: Having only a single rare reduces drafting decision space. Having a minimum of two rares means your pack 1 pick 1 isn’t just automatically the rare.
Experiment: The pack structure is as follows: six commons, four uncommons, two rares/mythics, one dedicated multicolor slot, one dedicated “illegal” slot, and a nonbasic land. The latter three slots can be of any rarity, intended to be roughly equal between common/uncommon/rare. This gives an average of three rares, five uncommons, and seven commons per pack.
Result: Overwhelming success. The two-rare minimum has been very well received. Drafting involves a lot more tough decisions. Rares make it farther into the draft round - I’ve gotten rares as the last card in a pack! And the higher as-fan makes games less swingy. You’re much more likely to see your bombs - games have less variance. I’ve never felt that I lost because I didn’t see the one powerful card I needed - and I’ve never felt I won only because I started with the one OP card.
Experiment 002: Illegal Cards
As a fan of the more out-there cards, and as a guy who’s bought boxes of both Conspiracy and Un-sets, I obviously would want to try those cards in my Cube. But, I did not want to make it a full-on “silly” cube, rather just add a little bit of fun to an otherwise normal game.
Hypothesis: Adding a dedicated slot for whimsical cards, not legal in constructed formats, bolsters enjoyment without making the game too weird.
Experiment: A slot was added to the packs, containing silver-bordered cards, conspiracies, and draft-matters cards. Due to the low as-fan, parasitic cards were excluded - there is no host/augment, no dice-rolling-matters, no contraptions. As a singleton Cube, conspiracies needing you to note a card name were also excluded.
Result: Huge success. Players universally liked the fun cards, but keeping it checked kept the games relatively normal. Sure, sometimes you’d die to an animated library, or to a Modular Monstrosity with protection from everything, triple strike, lifelink, squirrellink and horsemanship, but it still plays like Magic.
I am slightly concerned by how rarely some cards see play. Split Screen sees play every time it’s in the pool, but I don’t think I’ve seen Gus or Extremely Slow Zombie make the cut. And Archdemon of Paliano is the only card to have effects during the draft, which I think players are overlooking.
Experiment 003: Three-Color Overlapping Archetypes
The difference between a proper Cube and a pile of cards is design. You can’t just select your favorite or most powerful cards, you need them to work together well enough that strategies exist, but not so synergistic as to eliminate strategy.
Hypothesis: A set built around enemy-color synergies within wedge-color archetypes will give a good balance of synergy and creativity.
Experiment: The Cube was constructed with wedge-color archetypes (WUR equipment, UBG poison, BRW attack triggers, RGU energy, GWB graveyard), with the intent of overlap along enemy colors (WB is aggressive but can recurse from graveyard, UR has noncreature-cast triggers, GU has proliferate, etc.). Additionally, a dedicated multicolor slot gave a very high as-fan for multicolor “signpost” cards - for each three-color archetype, one three-color card and one card of each included color pairing is included to provide guidance.
Result: Eventual success. Early iterations of the Cube were too directional, and included too many cards dedicated solely to a single archetype. But, after revisions and expansions, it seems to be working much better. Players are still able to find novel synergies (mono-green Voltron?), but they can still find direction if they need it.
Experiment 004: Multiplayer
I, like many others, am a big fan of multiplayer Magic. Most of my players come from my Commander playgroup, or my Multiplayer Modern playgroup. So it’s only natural the Cube is also multiplayer.
Hypothesis: The Conspiracy Draft model, of drafting in a group of 4-8, then if needed split into pods of 3-5, will work even with only a modest amount of multiplayer-matters cards (3 Melee, 2 Dethrone, 2 Will of the Council, 6 Council’s Dilemma, 4 “can’t attack you”, 2 goad, 1 myriad, 1 friend/foe).
Experiment: Drafts with 6+ people split into two pods for play. If we have the stamina for multiple rounds, we switch up groups each time.
Result: Expected success. It’s not really a surprise that something Wizards actually did works in a more general case. The higher variance seems to be making three-player pods play better than three-player Modern, of which I have played far too much.
Experiment 005: Non-Color-Balanced Packs
Something I have noticed I’m weak at is hate-drafting. I often end up with a surplus of cards I can make use of, and so does everyone else because I didn’t take the pick 4 bomb that wasn’t in my colors.
Prior to this experiment, I had been color-balancing individual packs. I treat colorless as a color for purposes of filling packs - the six commons are one of each color, and the uncommon slots and rare slots did not contain repeats.
Hypothesis: Producing packs with deliberate color focus will force more hate-drafting and add thoughtful decisions to the draft.
Experiment: The Cube packs were filled as follows. One pack each of each single color or colorless cards (multicolor was of that color, with an off-color ability). One pack each of each color pair. One pack each of each of each three-color wedge. Two packs of all five colors. Two packs of colorless cards.
Result: Abject failure. This led to extreme dissatisfaction. One color was present in every single player’s deck, and another color was completely absent despite having a mono-colored pack in the second round. I abandoned this experiment without even drafting the full box, emptying the half that remained to re-seed. I don’t regret the experiment - it wasn’t a “failure” as an experiment, just as a hypothesis. The experiment worked wonderfully - the data showed very strongly whether it was a good theory or not.
Experiment 006: Adding Planeswalkers
My initial version of the Cube did not have planeswalkers. Mostly because they’re hella expensive, and I was on a budget, but also because they generate a lot of value over time. You get a good planeswalker out, you dominate the game quickly.
And then I played War of the Spark limited. So clearly I had to add some, especially with proliferate being such a central mechanic in the Cube.
Hypothesis: Adding planeswalkers will be hella fun, and possibly rad.
Experiment: Twenty planeswalker cards were added. The uncommon slot got five monocolor PWs. The rare slot got five monocolor rare/mythics. The gold slot got five enemy-color hybrid uncommons and five enemy-color gold rares/mythics.
Result: Mixed, mostly positive. The hybrid planeswalkers aren’t quite a good match for the mechanics. Saheeli and Nahiri are great, Kiora isn’t on-theme but works well anyways, Kaya is a bit expensive for those aggressive colors, and Vraska just outright doesn’t fit (I have very little deathtouch, probably because of the high level of infect). The mono-color rares are very swingy, possibly stronger bombs than I wanted. But, maybe some higher variance will be good - people certainly enjoy it when they open a pack and see Gideon Blackblade.
The uncommons work the best. The monocolor ones slot in nicely to everything, and the hybrids usually fit. They don’t take over games, but they do put in the work, especially with proliferate around them.
I think that’s enough science for this post. Maybe if I leave some for later, I’ll actually post regularly.

What’s in store for you with May’s “Flower Moon”
In the ancient era and even today, whenever a person needs to check seasonal changes, the Moon is used as a tool to do this. From the beginning of time, we used the lunar month and its phases, and now we include the solar year as a tool as well.
Today we use terms like “Full Moon” or “New Moon”, before these terms were used, our ancient elders used names to describe the Full Moon. The Full Moon for the month of May was termed as the "Flower Moon". This was to imply that flowers bloom during the month of May.
It is very important to understand how this entire concept works and how it can impact you. All phases of the Moon do play a role in our horoscope. The distance between the Sun and the Moon becomes an important criterion to understand the Full Moon, New Moon, Waxing or Waning Moon. Remember that the disposition and aspect of the moon can negatively or positively affect a person depending on where the Moon is located in their chart, and during a full moon.
The up and coming full moon will transit through the Sagittarius zodiac sign on 29th. of May 2018. As the moon represents our mind, our soul and our emotions it is going to create an impact accordingly for all 12 zodiac signs in the following manner:-

If you know your moon sign, please see the list above to see which planet your moon sign will be sitting in, then please read below for a general forecast.
1) Sagittarius Sign:- As it is easily visible from the above imagine that the 1st house is our Ascendant or Lagna which is ruled by Sagittarius sign. Here it is important to mention that the 1st house represents our body and one's personality. On the full moon day, our 1st house will be occupied by planet Saturn and the Moon. As the Moon which rules our mind, emotions and soul is conjunct with Karmic planet Saturn, in Jupiter sign. It means for Sagittarius moon sign people the entire month of June will going to with full of negative surprises and a different king of the burden will remain on you. It can be either due to wealth or health or relationship or another thing which is important for you. This one-month phase and majorly fortnight from the day, is going to be bad for you.
Remedy: Try to maintain your ego to avoid issues.
2) Capricorn Sign:- This house is known for speech and wealth is occupied by planet Mars and Ketu (south node of the Moon). The results which are indicated in this space for people who are of Capricorn zodiac sign are a bit in terms of average. This sign is ruled by planet Saturn and where Ketu holds the friendships with the Saturn on one side and on the flip side Mars holds negative relationship. As this house is the house of speech, which means your words can become a reason for your success and failures, either way it will be what you say, that is going to determine what you will get as a payback.
Remedy: Try to control words.
3) Aquarius Sign:- The 3rd house is related to one’s courage and siblings and lord of this house which is already placed in the first house with the Moon is giving you a bit relief for Aquarius moon sign. You can expect some good news from your elders or friends or some lost hopes can revive, or some sudden gains can happen. Whatever be the case the major gains will be because of your timely actions. The flow of energy will be there which will lead you to tap up the right course of action.
Remedy: Listen to your instincts.
4) Pisces Sign: The 4th house is related to one’s home, luxury life, and mother. This full moon is going to be very beneficial for Pisces moon sign. Ruling planet Jupiter which is making a favorable case for luxuries and comfort in your life for this one month, you must try to take the opportunities whatever comes in for you.
Remedy: This situation can make a case of enough greed and placement of Jupiter is in the negative sign since 2017 Sep. It is important to control your greed and act quickly.
5) Aries Sign: The 5th house is related to intelligence level, education, and children and the ruling planet is already placed in the second house which is planet Mars. When we speak about Mars then we speak about anger for sure. Moon is cold and calm and Mars is very aggressive. Due to this placement, the coming month for you can be in your favor and great news can come up. Moon here giving you the calmness which is actually increasing your intelligence level leading to prosperity, It is the best time to make deals and gain the things from it.
Remedy: It’s better to understand that people who are younger than you, are human too. Don’t overreact impulsively with anyone, otherwise, things are in your favor.
6) Taurus: - The 6th house deals with enemies and secret issues, where planet Mercury becomes combust with Sun and in Venus sign. I will say this is the worse sign to be in for this particular time frame as nothing favors you at all. The more you try the more trouble will come. Some disease can happen too that can increase your tensions. It is a time where you are in mid of things as you won’t get any clarification for anything.
Remedy: When time is not in favor then it is better to lay low, as it is for one month only and not for entire life.
7) Gemini: The 7th house relates to our life partner, partnership, desires etc. and when the planet of love and desires "Venus" is placed in the house of Mercury, then nothing much to say for this connection. This time frame is all about what and how you can present the things. One small move can become a game changer for any relationship or related concerns. It is quite visible that Gemini moon sign will be going to get some mix result in this phase.
Remedy: Hold major decisions and try to conclude them after 10 June 2018, try to avoid arguments when it comes really connected to love ones.
8) Cancer Sign: The 8th house deals with the longevity and vulnerability of a native. People mostly misjudge this house and use this to consider the age of a person. The fact of matter here is this house deals with longevity in all aspects, for example if you are a student then how long you can study and what can be the possible outcomes and so on. When we check the coming month from the Moon sign perspective then we see here that Cancer sign is ruled by the Moon and the only sign which Moon rules. Full Moon is a state where the Moon commands with all power and brings brightness. Placement of Rahu in this sign indicates a that you can come to lose the power of judgment and can act in a bit chaos manner. No doubt here that you will remain under the command and will dominate but some negativity can occur which can spoil your mood.
Remedy: Do not take things for guarantee and avoid some major decision for the first week after the full moon.
9) Leo Sign:- The 9th house is related to religion, luck, and ethics and here the lord of the house is the Sun, which is known as the father of our solar system and also considered as to be father in our Vedic astrology. Placement of Sun in the 6 house is nullifying the bad results if any for the Leo sign. This nil impact will increase your luck and may bend you to be more religious in the coming month.
Remedy: As the things are looking good for you, you simply need to get rid of bad associates if any around you.
10) Virgo Sign:- The 10th house is related to the profession, father government sector, and reputation and due to the combustion of Mercury in the house of disease and enemies with conjunction with the sun and Moon conjunction with the Saturn in the first house is not bringing any good news for you for this particular month. If you are expecting any gains then they can stop, your hard work won’t pay you much and you can come under frustration.
Remedy: If you are into business then risks are not at all advisable. Speculations and gambling should be totally avoided.
11) Libra: The 11th house is related to gains and Income, speculation gains and what to expect when we see planet Jupiter is placed in it’s enemy sign since last year September. Almost 9 months now from such placement and now this flower Moon is all ready to give you the rewards which were missing before. No doubt there is an enmity but due to positive placement for the month of Venus here and an eye of Saturn to it, this is becoming positive for you and if are from Libra Moon sign then this is your chance you were waiting.
Remedy: Opportunity will not knock at your door, you need to snatch it and take advantage of this favorable time.
12) Scorpio Sign: The 12th house is related to expenditures and foreign connection. When the ruling planet is in the house of wealth where they are in the negative environment then it means this particular phase will impact your source of income adversely and lead to many unwanted expenses. This is not a good phase and you should curtail some unwanted expenses.
Remedy: Kindly save money and don’t lend to anyone to avoid losses.

Good genetics didn’t mean a good personality. Legends said that everyone has two wolves inside and it’s up to the person as to which wolf wins.  He was meant to be good. He was meant to be a loving brother, perfect son. He was and at the same time he wasn’t. Genetics were good to Myungsoo. He was bound to be tall since his father was tall. Deep set dark eyes, pale skin, pointed face and almost always messy hair. Visually easy on the eyes. At school, a smart student, near perfect grades and teachers all praised him. Many friends, very social. Kim Myungsoo was effectively perfect. His quirk showed itself when he was in middle school. He began doing things faster and faster and he was scared. That fear went over his head. He was becoming more and more out of control. When his father found out that his son had the same quirk, he began teaching him how to control the speed and function properly. Under his tutelage, Myungsoo learned how to control his speed and function normally while being a speedster.
                                 *  ◜   WE RISE AND WE THRIVE !!
He is calculating, intelligent, cool and collected while working and while keeping busy with classes. He’s elegance and style in one person. Despite his perfection and insanity, he does consider his friends as family and will do anything to protect them. He is fiercely loyal to those he loves. A flaw of his though is his near obsession with his looks. He carries a mirror on him all the time, just to adjust his hair when it gets slightly messy. He may be a flower boy and have many girls practically bowing at his feet and thinking he is god or something, like any other person he still has his flaws and strengths. L is a very laid-back type of person. He will keep his nose out of other people’s business but not because he is being kind but because he just doesn’t care.
That’s one of his flaws, the fact that a lot of the time he just doesn’t care about others or their feelings. He has tried to get himself to care but as some people say, nature is stronger than nurture. He is very self-centered and will always be thinking of what is best for himself, unless he decides to think about others which he rarely does. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because most of the time the thought just does not cross his mind. On the topic of being self-centered, he is also fairly selfish and is a mooch. He will constantly think about himself and will always try to take advantage of his looks and get people to buy him things. Does he know about his flaws? Yes. Does he try his best to change around his friends? Hell yes. Being a stubborn stubborn boy, he will always try his best to think of his friends first whenever they are around, and even when they aren’t because he truly cares for them. He is very impulsive and will do whatever comes to mind before thinking about it. He is extremely funny and even though at times he is quiet he still knows how to have fun.
                                 *  ◜   POWER IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT  !!
myungsoo has the super speed quirk. it essentially makes him faster than the speed of light. Due to having this quirk, he’s constantly hungry since his metabolism has increased and the energy running though his body burns calories really fast. He loves having super speed because that means that he can get to classes right on time, but he has to leave enough time to recover from the side effects of accelerating so fast like difficulty of breath.
Abilities: -run at the speed of light for short distances without straining his body -has enhanced stamina -cyclone spinning (meaning he can run fast enough in a circle to create a wind tunnel)
limits: - susceptible to third/second degree burns on his body if he’s not wearing protective gear, - he’s constantly starving because of the energy in his body. Running the way that he does, requires that he eat about 4 to 5 times his body weight. So he’s almost always eating which leaves little time for actual running. -issues with traction and tight corners (but he’s working on that). Distances between 5 and 10 km or equivalent there of, he needs about two hours of rest to recover his breath. Distances less than 5km, he does okay but he does usually need about 10 minutes to recover. Distances over 10K, he needs more than five hours of rest and about 1500 more calories in his diet. He tries to avoid running those distances. As for traction, his feet begin to slip when he hits 100 km/s and he will take a tumble and stop in his tracks when he hits 120 km/s. His average speed is about 70km/s and that is with a regular intake of food and snacks.
                                *  ◜   NEVER FORGET WHO YOU WANT TO BECOME !!
his costume is a dark blue color with lightening lines on the legs. it’s made from a heat proof fabric that allows him to run super fast without burning up and getting burns on his skin. it covers all of his skin and he wears black goggles on his face to protect his eyes.

That time Vancouver brought over a double decker bus from London, England. It was for the 1936 Golden Jubilee celebrations, and remarkably, omnibus B340 (LA 9928) is one of the few remaining examples that survive to this day.
The first three photos above were taken in Chiswick, London, and photos 2 and 3 show the men who were believed to be responsible for negotiating the loan of the bus, Mr. B.E. Adams (role unknown, possibly with London Transport?), the Agent-General for British Columbia Mr. W.A. McAdam, and the governor of the Hudson's Bay Company Mr. P. Ashley Cooper. The Lethbridge Herald ran the second of these photos on page 5, January 06, 1936, likely taken in late 1935, with the following caption:
One of the two remaining pre-war omnibuses of the London passenger transport board to survive the great war is to be loaned to the city of Vancouver for their jubilee celebrations next year. Mr. W. A. McAdam (LEFT) acting agent-general for British Columbia, and Mr. P. Ashley Cooper, governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, inspecting the old war-time bus at the Chiswick (London) garage of the London passenger transport board.
The number of remaining pre-war omnibuses has actually gone up since then. It looks like there are now at least 4 surviving models, though I don’t know if they can all boast pre-war manufacture dates; B43 (1910), B340 (1911), B1609 (1911), and B2737 (1914, but I’m unsure of the month). A fifth bus, B214 LA9802 (1911) has an original chassis, but the engine, wheels and front axle came from the remnants of two other B-Types, while the body was found in a Sussex garden that had originated with an East Surrey B-Type built in 1912. As of 2014, it looks like B214 is once again requiring restoration; I'm not sure what the plans are with this one. If it gets restored in the near future, perhaps we can bump the number up to five. I’ve since learned from a comment by Tony Barfield on flickr that B214 is...
...now owned by the Thames Valley & Great Western Trust and now in store near Windsor. LT Museum purchased THREE B type chassis from the Ward brothers collection near Harrogate, Yorkshire. One they have restored is B1056, which is now the Battle bus.
Additionally, the Self-Preservation-Society notes an unrestored chassis B1056, though I don’t know if this has since been used elsewhere. You can see a photo of this chassis from 2014 here. B5103 was sold back in 2014 for £281,500 at Bonhams (where there’s an extensive vehicle history), though this example dates from 1922.
In a number of photos, the Vancouver Archives refers to the bus as "Old Bill", but the real name "Ole Bill" didn’t really apply to bus B340 at all. A little closer to the truth, CVA 612-004 refers to the bus as "Old Bill’s" brother, though it should have been "Ole Bill’s Brother". It was the London General Omnibus Company B43 that became the WWI memorial known as "Ole Bill", and since the Brits were unable to loan us their national treasure for our 50th anniversary, they sent us the next best Omnibus, B340. CVA 612-006 informs us that the bus arrived at the Ballantyne Pier in Vancouver on May 6, 1936, and CVA 612-007 reveals the bus was a little bit temperamental, and the engine refused to be humoured! Finally, it did manage to get off the ship.
London Transit Museum provides a brief background on the original "Ole Bill", describing how the bus got its name:
A brass shell was mounted on the dashboard, ornate brass plates for the numbers on the bonnet sides and a brass bust of ‘Ole Bill, the cartoon figure created by Bruce Bairnsfather, formed the radiator cap. This association with the hugely popular cartoon character was to rapidly give the bus its nickname of ‘Ole Bill, commonly but incorrectly rendered as Old Bill. The title was derived from Bairnsfather’s first cartoon of two Tommies under fire in a shell hole, Bill saying to his companion, ‘If you knows of a better ‘ole, Go to it!’
B43 had been given a new body and overhauled for the Palace in 1920. Battle honours were added to the windows – Antwerp, Ypres, Ancre and Somme – before being handed over to the Auxiliary Omnibus Companies Association. The veterans used it for parades and funerals. At the King’s behest, the bus and veterans from Underground and the General took part in the first Armistice Day parade from 1920.
B43 remains preserved in the Imperial War Museum in London, while B340 is part of the London Transport Museum Collection. B-Type bus B2737 was recently converted to honour the “Battle Bus” of WWI, and more can be learned about this bus at the London Transport Museum.
It would appear the Vancouver Jubilee committee was still to some extent, re-enacting the end of WWI with this bus, as they filled it with soldiers and flags and paraded through the streets, much like the original "Ole Bill" had done in 1920.
This early double decker bus was of fundamental significance for transit in London, and the ripple effect was felt around the world. Our neighbours in Victoria have been using double decker buses since 2000, much earlier if you include the tourist buses run by Gray Line Tours, and Vancouver has just begun preliminary testing of the next generation double deckers on certain routes. To provide us with some of the significance of the B-Type bus, Doug Rose provides the backstory, along with some remarkable vector drawings that he created, shown above. From his website:
...there are strong arguments to say the B-Type was London’s first ‘standard’ motor bus. Though they were far from all being the same, the model was certainly the first to be mass produced and entered service in late 1910. The chassis, which varied in height, carried wooden bodies from more than one builder, closely reminiscent of their horse bus forebears. Steel wheels of different designs were used, with solid tyres, though there were no front brakes. A product of dominant operator the London General Omnibus Company, the bus was a success. Its overhanging upper deck variations saw a few different seating layouts too, though the norm was 16 lower and 18 upper. The early radiators had a flat top sporting ‘LGOC’, later being replaced by those more curved and displaying ‘GENERAL’. The wheelbase varied and a few single deckers were also built. Experiments with the ‘lifeguards’ between the wheels eventually settled on that shown in this drawing and these were retrospectively fitted to older buses. The bus entered service in 1911 though this drawing attempts to show B340 as closely as possible to how it looks in its state of preservation in 2014; several aspects need to be considered however. Requisitioned for the War effort in 1914 and staying in London, it returned to passenger service in 1916 but with a new body. It was withdrawn in 1924 and retained for preservation. After some meandering of locations and uses, it ended up in the British Transport Museum at Clapham in 1960. It was re-painted in red, as shown here, though B-Types had been a darker red until 1913. On the vehicle though not originally fitted are the front headlamps, added from 1913; the driver’s sun visor is a later addition and a far more modern offside mirror has been added; some of the reproduction adverts use typefaces not designed when the bus was in service.
Looking at those solid rubber tires, I can only imagine the experience must have been a rather bumpy ride! However uncomfortable, they were important first steps on the road to mass transit, and we’re fortunate to have shared in this historic legacy.

TRIGGER MAGAZINE: Kill la Kill Issues
Back when Kill la Kill was first airing, Studio Trigger sent out a weekly newsletter containing a production report from Higuchi, the script writer’s literary assistant, as well as commentary from Tatsuru/Tattun, Trigger’s PR specialist. Each newsletter also contained key frames and layouts from the show.
There was a newsletter devoted to each of the first 24 episodes of Kill la Kill, as well as one issue discussing the premiere. Compiled below is a list of these issues (Issues #000 - 025), complete with information about which episode the issue describes, production report highlights, and which key frames or layout drawings were included. All links to the magazine are courtesy of @triggermagazine.
If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter, you can do so by setting up an account at Trigger’s online shop here.
Please note: As these newsletters describe Kill la Kill, there is a tremendous amount of nudity and fanservice included. Please also be warned that there are depictions of sexual violence and harassment as well.
(All images in the magazine can be found here.)
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 000, October 2, 2013
Prior to episode 1
Production report highlights: “I bet all of you are familiar, but “KILL la KILL” is produced by Hiroyuki Imaishi and Kazuki Nakashima, the duo from “Gurren Lagann.” With the staffs being close with each other, each and every staff meeting was filled with jokes and laughter. Each and every staff was really having fun! Despite the staffs horsing around at time, their boldness to create what they truly enjoy, and not catering to the popular trend is something I admire. “KILL la KILL” definitely reflects on the creators passion, and it just might be the punch Japan needs in this laid back times.”
Included key frames/layout: Ryuko holding the Scissor Blade when she first meets Satsuki
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 001, October 8, 2013
Episode 1
Production report highlights: “KILL la KILL is a very distinct series, and I think we can agree that the talking sailor uniform got everyone’s attention. To those who are familiar with very old anime series and I mean “really” old series might have caught on to the similarities with Dokonjo Gaeru [Gutsy Frog]. Yes, KILL la KILL is influenced heavily by anime from the Showa period. Other series such as Sakigake!! Otokojuku [Charge!! Men’s Private School], Harisu no Kaze [Harris’s Whirlwind], and other major titles from the Showa period was brought to topic numerous time in the production meeting as well. However, just because the resource is from the Showa period, it does not mean that it will just be a reproduction. With modern techniques and talent worked in, it creates a whole new style of animation. So please stay tuned with KILL la KILL! You won’t be disappointed!”
Included key frames/layout: Senketsu and Ryuko’s first meeting, Ryuko/Senketsu vs. Fukuroda
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 003, October 16, 2013
Episode 2
Production report highlights: “Whenever I watch KILL la KILL, it reminds me of this specific act from Mr. Nakashima’s theatrical play Hana no Kurenai Tengu [Renaissance of the Scarlet Phantom]. This act also happens to be Mr. Imaishi’s favorite, and the title is “I will take the path I trust. Vigorously, even if there are no roads.” I feel that this phrase is the intersection between Mr. Imaishi and Mr. Nakashima. Just as their creators are, every character in KILL la KILL share the same unfaltering courage to stay bold with their beliefs. The story is full with passion but so is the character!”
Included key frames/layout: Satsuki and Bakuzan, Ryuko collapsed from blood loss, Aikuro stripping, Aikuro taking Ryuko’s blood
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 004, October 22, 2013
Episode 3
Production report highlights: “Some of you may already know, but KILL la KILL was originally planned to become the typical monster/villain of the week style of anime. The first time I attended the staff meeting was a year and a half before the airing of KILL la KILL started. And, that just happened to be the time when the staff decided to throw that style of composition out. With the static format gone, the weekly meeting became even more hectic, and it was almost impossible to keep up with the conversation if I were to take even one week off.”
Included key frames/layout: Baby Satsuki, Satsuki in Junketsu, Ryuko/Senketsu vs. Satsuki/Junketsu, Mako in pajamas, Ryuko and Senketsu trying to work together
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 005, October 29, 2013
Episode 4
Production report highlights: “It may be a surprise but all of the KILL la KILL episode titles come from popular Showa Japanese songs! Mr. Nakashima carefully picked out the most fitting song title for each episode, taking in the artist and the lyrics itself into account. The main staff would gather early to a meeting and listen to these songs to further discuss about the episode the individual songs were bound to. Believe it or not, these song titles were taken into account from a very early stage of production. To those who are familiar, the song title will feel nostalgic. To those who aren’t, the title should definitely leave a strong impression.”
Included key frames/layout: Guts and Senketsu, Mankanshoku boys leering at Ryuko, Maiko kicking Guts, Ryuko panty shot, Ryuko embarrassed by pajamas
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 006, November 6, 2013
Episode 5
Production report highlights: “How did everyone enjoy the 5th episode? Pretty hardboiled compared to the previous episode, right? A lot of people probably noticed the difference in the script. To reveal the secret, the scripts for episode four and five is actually not done by Mr. Nakashima. Episode four is done by the creative officer Hiromi Wakabayashi, and episode five is done by Hiroshi Seko! It’s quite the surprise how the script can affect the tone of the work so much! Each and every staff has their own taste, for example Mr. Wakabayashi always manages to come up with the most playful ideas and Mr. Seko favors a hardboiled stories. To top it all off, Mr. Nakashima somehow manages to get more pumped up in the script meeting than the actual characters in KILL la KILL! It’s really interesting to see how their taste reflects so much to the different episodes. Although all of the scripts will be done by Mr. Nakashima from episode 6, it may be interesting to re-watch the previous episodes with the individual script writers in mind.”
“One of the bigger surprise to us is the unexpected support we are receiving from oversea. KILL la KILL has little sprinkles of taste from the showa period, and we were worried if it would even appeal to the audience here in Japan at first. Regardless of the reason, it really feels nice to know that we have a supporting fan base even oversea.”
Included key frames/layout: Tsumugu smoking, Mako speech (“Up until now, the only friends I had were in my head!”), Nonon conducting, two more Mako speech frames
This issue also includes a fanart piece done by @belindraw!
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 007, November 11, 2013
Episode 6
Production report highlights: “…this episode was our first chance to get in touch with the Elite Four’s past. Not only does this episode function as a turning point for Sanageyama, it is also a vital episode for the other Elites Four as well. According to Mr. Nakashima, the scene where Sanageyama encounters Satsuki and the other three at North Kanto wasteland was the key factor to determine the individual characters personality. I guess if you observe carefully, you can get an idea of who met Satsuki first, and what kind of relation they have. It’s amazing how a single short scene is sufficient enough to provide the characters with their depths!”
Included key frames/layout:/layout Uzu’s Blade Regalia, Uzu’s defeat, Mataro, Mataro’s photos of Ryuko, Ryuko/Senketsu (during their fight against Uzu), Ragyo’s first appearance
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 008, November 19, 2013
Episode 7
Production report highlights: “Every week Mr. Toshihiko [Senketsu] wraps up the recording session with his narration for the preview. Mr. Toshihiko is precise to the second with his script and does not fail to impress Mr. Imaishi and Mr. Nakashima. A round of applause from the director’s booth is not a rare sight when it comes to KILL la KILL’s recording session. Did I mention that the preview covers more than just an advance showing of the next episode? The extended 30 second preview (available to view online) contains exclusive information from time to time as well!”
Included key frames/layout: Satsuki, Satsuki (during one of her “pigs in human clothing” speeches), Mankanshokus and Ryuko hug, Mako in her Goku uniform, the golden bust statue of Barazo, Mako in Fight Club
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 009, November 26, 2013
Episode 8
Production report highlights: “The idea of Naturals Election originated in one of the scenario meetings when Mr. Nakashima decided to throw out the original idea of 党首頂上決戦 and decided to play with words and went with 塔首頂上決戦. (The two kanji 党 and 塔 is pronounced the same with a different meaning. 塔 resembles tower or a pillar while 党 resembles a political faction or a party.) Mr. Imaishi quickly replied by drawing a sketch of an arena placed on top of a large tower. The teamwork between the two is simply amazing! Mr. Imaishi manages to pick up all of Mr. Nakashima’s idea! Watching the two create such an amazing piece of work out of almost nothing but paper and pencil is truly a magnificent sight to observe.”
Included key frames/layout: Ira, Ira in car, Ryuko/Senketsu, Satsuki, little Ryuko, Nonon
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 010, December 4, 2013
Episode 9
Production report highlights: “While the characters of KILL la KILL are distinct, the production of the series is also very distinct. For many animation series, the personality and the orientation of the characters are determined in the plot/script meeting. The designs of the individual characters are then determined in the visual design meeting. It’s normal to think that the characters are developed along with the plot. Surprisingly, there has been few occasions where that was not the case in KILL la KILL. Mr. Nakashima will at times like the character design so much, he would go through the trouble to rewrite the already made script to accommodate for the character. Even in the recording session, Mr. Nakashima has changed the character’s line in order to better match the actor’s voice. This flexibility in production is truly distinct for animation production, and I believe it is one of the many reasons that makes KILL la KILL such a wonderful series.”
Included key frames/layout: Ira’s Scourge Regalia, Ryuko/Senketsu vs. Ira, Mako nosebleed, Ryuko/Senketsu hanging from stage
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 011, December 13, 2013
Episode 10
Production report highlights: “I bet many of you are already hooked to the KILL la KILL tunes already, but the BGM to our series is really powerful! Many of the characters like Satsuki would just sound like a lunatic if we were to listen to them without the BGM. What makes Satsuki’s tyrannical speech sound convincing is definitely due to the help of Mr. Sawano’s BGM. Once the sound track is released it may be interesting to review the previous episodes again.”
Included key frames/layout: Nonon’s Symphony Regalia, Houka’s Probe Regalia, Nonon wink, Nonon transformation, little Nonon, little Nonon and Satsuki

Episode 11
Production report highlights: “One of the more popular gossips I hear amongst the animator in the studio is how hard it is to draw Mako. She’s cute, yet crazy in the mind. She’s crazy yet she somehow manages to be charming. Even trying to express her verbally is difficult! It really does surprises me how the crew manages to pull off such a crazy character. Mako is also the reason why KILL la KILL had to be written mostly by Mr. Nakashima. The original plan was to have multiple scriptwriters, but her wild personality proved to be too much for outside scriptwriters to handle. Mako is hard to draw for the animators; her personality is way over the top, yet something about her sounds very natural. Why is that? What could possibly make her insane nonsense sound so convincing? Yes, it must be due to the acting done by Ms. Suzaki! She even looks like Mako with her new haircut! Now, I’ve yet to confirm this myself but according to the rumors, even her personality seems to be identical to Mako! I have come to the conclusion that Mako as a character is only made possible due to the love and care of all of the staffs involved in this series!”
Included key frames/layout: Nonon’s defeat, Ryuko/Senketsu (during the Nonon fight), Satsuki telling Uzu to get away from Nui, Nui, Rei, Ryuko/Senketsu (during the Nonon fight), Sukuyo

Episode 12
Production report highlights: “We had Nui, Ragyou, and Hououmaru introduced in this episode, and they all have a powerful personality! But, something about these characters felt awkwardly masculine. Come to think of it, that applies to almost all of the female characters in KILL la KILL. A good amount of the characters in this series are female, but it feels as if this series is compiled of just male characters. According to Mr. Nakashima, this is not due to the fact that the characters in KILL la KILL possess a manly personality. It is because the supposed female characters are simply males “packaged” in female bodies. Although the characters gestures and reaction is very feminine, their behavioral principle is the one of a male personality. Mr. Nakashima says that he has intentionally designed his characters in this way. While having the cuteness of the girls, the characters possess the wildness to stir the story and the hook the viewer’s attention at the same time.”

Episode 13
Production report highlights: “With the story entering the second half, the recording booth is also becoming more and more crowded with actors. But that doesn’t stop the voice actors from having loads of fun! The recording session never fails to surprise me. For instance Ms. Koshimizu and Ms. Yuzuki would be having a pleasant conversation one moment, but as soon as the recording lamp lights up, the two would become hostile at each other as their given role as Ryuko and Satsuki. The booth that was filled with laughter is immediately transformed into a stern mood with shouting and yelling. How fast the actors are able to snap into their role amazes me every time, and the whole experience truly feels like a stage play.”
Included key frames/layout: Nui, Ragyo, Satsuki, “the bald dudes from the REVOCS business meeting”
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 015, January 21, 2014
Episode 14
Production report highlights: “How is everyone enjoying KILL la KILL’s stereotypical image of Kansai? If episode 4 was Mr. Imaishi’s free ticket to do whatever he wishes to do, Mr. Nakashima says episode 14 was his turn to do so! A lot of new characters were introduced in this week’s episode, but the most impressive out of the bunch is Kaneo Takarada without doubt! It seems like Kaneo has some feud going on with Satsuki, but what’s really amazing is the person inside the character! Mr. Awane who does the voice for Kaneo Takarada isn’t actually a professional voice actor, but a stage actor from Mr. Nakashima’s theatrical team Shinkansen! Mr. Nakashima and Mr. Awane have been working together for about 30 years, and the recording session really reflected that. Some of our subscriber may already know, but Ms. Shintani who does the voice for Nonon also comes from a theatrical team Nylon 100 Degrees Celsius. According to Mr. Imaishi, stage actors take a very different approach when acting their characters. That difference from normal voice actors may also be one of the many factors that give KILL la KILL such a distinct taste!”
Included key frames/layout: Ryuko without Senketsu, Mako in Osaka, tracksuit Nonon, Nonon with band member, three Takarada frames
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 016, January 29, 2014
Episode 15
Production report highlights: “According to the plot meeting, many stage performers call the cliff hanger scene “The end of the first act.” If KILL la KILL were to be a play, episode 15 would apply to the end of the first act. I have also made a comment to Mr. Nakashima that excluding Mako and Nonon, all of the characters that support Ryuko and Satsuki are men! Mr. Nakashima says that he has intentionally positioned the male characters to assist the female lead. He says that situation is very similar to the first work he and Mr. Imaishi worked as a pair, Re: Cutey Honey. Male characters supporting a struggling female lead, Mr. Nakashima sure is a gentleman!”
Included key frames/layout: Nonon (with a “scorning look” expression, jitome), Uzu’s Blade Regalia MKIII, Nonon’s Symphony Regalia MKII, Ira’s Shackle Regalia MKII, Houka’s Probe Regalia MKII, Satsuki in Overridden Junketsu, Ryuko and Senketsu (Senketsu-Senjin), Ryuko/Senketsu vs. Satsuki/Junketsu

Episode 16
Production report highlights: “The storyboard for episode 16 was done by Mr. Maeda Mahiro. Mr. Maeda has participated in many popular series such as Evangelion! Just a few days ago I had the honor to meet him in person, and was I surprised with how fashionable he was! This happens to remind me of the day I first met Mr. Nakashima as well. My first impression of Mr. Nakashima was oriented toward a father like person. I felt a considerable gap between his personality and the scripts he would write. After attending the KILL la KILL meeting for the first time, I saw Mr. Nakashima joyfully talk about his favorite past time manga and anime. That was the moment when I finally understood what kind of person Mr. Nakashima is. I also thought Mr. Imaishi to be a person with a bold personality since all of his works are so energetic and powerful. He actually turns out to be a lot different than what I imagined him to be. He turns out to be a really frank and kind hearted person. I have yet to see him without a smile on! There seems to be a considerable gap between the personality of the main staff and their creations. I guess the old saying “You can’t judge a book by the cover is ture!””
Included key frames/layout: Aikuro on the world, Ryuko embarrassed by Nudist Beach, Aikuro (before he goes “skinny diving”), Isshin, bath scene
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 019, February 13, 2014
Episode 17
Production report highlights: “The first time I attended the audio recording session, I was surprised that the session is conducted with only 4 microphones. Within the recording booth, about 20 voice actors work by sharing the limited microphones with each other. Talk about sharing and caring, right? This is something you don’t get the chance to see at the movies or stage acting. However, according to Ms. Shintani (Nonon Jakuzure) some people do feel uncomfortable when a stage actor gets involved in the scene of animation for their first time. But, I personally thought that the 4 microphones added to the whole experience! Some of our subscriber may already know, but the Elite Fours’ voice actor show strong physical resemblance to the characters they act as. It really packs a punch when the four stand in front of the microphone! It almost feels as if the Elite Four are actually standing in front of me! I’ve also found out that the four get along quite well, and they often go out for a drink together. The actors support one another just as the Elite Four do so in the series. How wonderful, don’t you think?”
Included key frames/layout: Satsuki and her Elite Four, Shiro, Satsuki stabbing Ragyo (two images), Barazo’s “serious” face, Satsuki with tea, Aikuro (DTR!)
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 020, February 19, 2014
Episode 18
Production report highlights: “According to the creators, KILL la KILL was intended to depict the characters in great depth! Because there are fewer characters than Guren Lagann, each and every character receives the necessary spotlight to display their personality and their beliefs in greater detail. Even then, there seems to be a lot of untold stories behind some of these characters. For those who are interested, this month’s issue of “Newtype” includes a short novel by Mr. Nakashima which covers the relation of Satsuki and the Elite Four. The BD/DVD also includes a drama CD which gives you the slice of life experience at the Honnouji Academy.”
Included key frames/layout: Ryuko/Senketsu vs. Nui (three images), Ira in his Shackle Regalia MKII, Ryuko/Senketsu and Satsuki, Rei
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 021, February 26, 2014
Episode 19
Production report highlights: “It really amazes me on how much effort and passion is put into KILL la KILL by the creators! Just the other day meg rock, the lyrics writer for KILL la KILL’s opening attended the audio recording session. (I must say that she was quite adorable, not that it’s important or anything.) During the first half of the session, she was enjoying the recording just as if anyone would. However, during the 2nd half of the recording, I noticed that she was in tears. After the recording she explained to me that she was extremely touched by today’s session. I say this again and again, but KILL la KILL really is created by the love of each and every staff involved in the series.”
Included key frames/layout: Little Ryuko in Isshin’s study, Uzu’s gang and COVERS, Ira, Nui, Ira
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 021, March 04, 2014
Episode 20
Production report highlights: “The recording session for the last episode has finally ended! Just as the session finished, I over heard Mr. Miki (va for Mikisugi) and Ms. Bak (va for Ragyo) commenting that the dialogues for KILL la KILL is very simple and pleasing to the mouth. According to Mr. Imaishi, he intentionally limited the dialogues to contain simple yet exhilarating phrases. His goal was to create a strong set of quotes by using simple vocabulary. Mr. Imaishi explains that it will leave a stronger impression to the viewer if they are familiar with the vocabulary. The simple dialogues also allows the voice actor to recite the line with passion without difficulties. I guess this is the secret to keep long dialogues sound interesting to the viewers!”
Included key frames/layout: Ryuko in Junketsu, Junketsu!Ryuko vs. Senketsu!Satsuki (two images), Nui coughing blood, Senketsu abandoned by Ryuko, Takarada salute
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 022, March 13, 2014
Episode 21
Production report highlights: “Just yesterday, I was talking with Mr. Nakashima, and he explained to me that he was surprised that he was able to make episode 20 and 21 so rich in content. He explains, that it’s definitely not a plot to be handled in a 22 minute episode, but it’s obviously not impossible. There must be some contents that other series wouldn’t dare to exclude. We gave it a good thought, and concluded to the fact that the characters in KILL la KILL never stumble upon a mental conflict, or even troubled. A typical series will depict several characters going through mental distress. These issues are barely depicted in KILL la KILL. Most of the characters in KILL la KILL are bold and believe in their motives without doubt. I guess the creators of KILL la KILL can relate to that (laughs).”
Included key frames/layout: Opening scene, Junketsu!Ryuko holding up Senketsu!Satsuki, Nudist Beach!Satsuki vs. Nui, Ryuko removing Junketsu (three images)
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 023, March 18, 2014
Episode 22
Production report highlights: “When Mr.Nakashima writes his scripts, he occasionally has an episode where his characters would start a conversation against his will. Mr. Nakashima explains that from their conversation, he is able pick up the overall plot of the story. The conversation between Ryuko and Nui from episode 22 is a great example of this. Nui claims that she is sick of Ryuko ranting about “friends.” Ryuko then explains that the term “friends” come nowhere close to explaining her relationship with Senketsu and Mako, and that their relationship is something much greater and unexplainable. Mr. Nakashima explains that their conversation was what lead to the concept of KILL la KILL. Something unexplainable and ambiguous. Despite having such a creative production team, the person who held the answer to the series was Ryuko. It was at this point when I realized that Ryuko was indeed leading the series as the main character.”
Included key frames/layout: Ryuko and Senketsu come back together (two images), Ryuko blushing at Senketsu’s words, Tsumugu, Shiro, Mako in her Goku uniform
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 024, March 27, 2014
Episode 23
Production report highlights: “KILL la KILL is of often compared to the composition of a manga due to their similarities. The series introduces new interesting ideas to the latest episode without hesitation. KILL la KILL is truly living in the moment. Only downside is that we are continuously tested to top or previous episode. This may be the reason why each episode seems so climatic!”
Included key frames/layout: Group shot before the heroes enter the final battle, Satsuki, Ira’s final Shackle Regalia, Uzu’s final Blade Regalia, Houka’s final Probe Regalia, Nonon’s final Symphony Regalia
TRIGGER MAGAZINE, Issue # 025, April 4, 2014
Episode 24
Production report highlights: “Episode 24 has really taught me the values of nonsensical things. The world is beautiful because there are so many things that are beyond our comprehension. It is the result of countless threads of unknown factors woven together. KILL la KILL is a grand example of this. Each and every staffs feelings, their passion are aggregated into a canvas we know as KILL la KILL. I know I am not making much sense right now, but I felt the same way with our creators as well. They are all crazy and over the top! But, after being able to interact with some of our viewers, I realized that our fans are just as crazy as our creators.”
Included key frames/layout: Final group hug, Ryuko in Senketsu-Kisaragi (two images), Ryuko’s tears at Senketsu’s death, Ryuko and Senketsu in Senketsu’s last moments, Ryuko panty shot, date (three images: ice cream together, Satsuki with hat, Satsuki trying on a new outfit)

Kirby: Planet Robobot Ask-a-thon - Round 3
Satoshi Ishida from HAL Laboratory here. It's time to begin round 3 of the Kirby: Planet Robobot Ask-a-thon! Mr Kumazaki, please take it away!

09/07/2016 1:52 PM
Thank you, it's nice to be back again. I think today will be the last of our Q&A sessions. And we'll be discussing some topics for the die-hard fans this time!
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 1:53 PM
OK, here's question number one: Some copy abilities from the previous game aren't present in the new one. How did you decide which abilities would make it into the game?
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 1:55 PM
In the past 5 or 6 years, we've gained over 10 new abilities so we're always struggling to balance out the old and new ones. We were also restricted by development time and hardware limitations. But even from the perspective of game balance, once you go over 25 copy abilities, you start to see an effect on the frequency of each ability per stage and on the balancing for the new Robobot elements. Even with the limited number of abilities that made the cut, the command inputs make up for it with a wide variety of actions so it isn't such a problem.

イシダ
09/07/2016 1:57 PM
You'd think having more copy abilities would be more fun, but it actually seems like a lot of hard work. Now then, I wonder if you could tell us about these track names that people have been wondering so much about!
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:05 PM
Alright, let me address them in order of their numbers in the Jukebox. [Literal translations of the Japanese titles follow:]
006 Venturing into the Mechanized World  021 Bountiful Star 029 VS. The Wicked Company 033 Dried-up Sea
Most of the questions are concerned with the first half. 029 is a personal favorite of mine! Next, here are the tracks that really heat things up as you approach the climax of the story. [Again, these are literal translations of the Japanese titles.]
083 L86 086 Crazy Rolling in Money 091 VS. Star Dream 092 Fatal Error 093 Intermezzo Without a Leader 094 First Cry of a Newborn Star 095 Vagrant Counting Song of Retrospection
I put a lot of effort into these particular final boss themes. Here's a small piece of trivia for you: for track 094, I wanted a voice that sounded like a baby's cry, but somewhat different and inhuman. What you're actually hearing are the meows of my pet cat. The sound of the weathervane during battle in track 095 comes from chickens that a member of the sound team keeps at home.
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 2:07 PM
That came from chickens?! That's quite a source of inspiration. Alright, the next question is related to previous titles: Kabula and Landia both feature in Planet Robobot, but Heavy Lobster doesn't show up, even though it's a machine. Why is that?
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:08 PM
We got a lot of questions about Heavy Lobster. It's nice to add some flavor from Kirby Super Star (Kirby's Fun Pak in Europe) but we always have to think about which enemies from the previous games we want to include while considering the game balance. In this case, we settled on using Kabula because it fits the shooting sequences well and because it's a mechanical boss. As for Landia, a 4-player co-op medieval-style RPG minigame wouldn't be the same without a dragon now, would it?
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 2:10 PM
While we're on the topic of character appearance, King Dedede hardly featured at all this time. The Dedede Clones did make an appearance, though. Why did you decide upon using clones and not a modified version of the character like Mecha Knight?
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:11 PM
We wanted a lot of characters to feature, and I think that main characters like King Dedede and Meta Knight are finally starting to gain some recognition. We felt that for players who've played several games in the series, reusing King Dedede in the same way was becoming a little bland, so we worked in the clone angle to work alongside new characters like Susie and Taranza and fit in with the direction the series is going.
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 2:14 PM
Now for a question about the main character Meta Knight - specifically, about the color of his eyes. In the moment that Mecha Knight+'s mask cracks, the player gets a glimpse of Meta Knight's eyes, which appear to be yellow. Were they always this way? I was sure they were white before...
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:16 PM
That's quite a thing to spot. In Kirby's Adventure on the Famicom (NES), Meta Knight's eyes are indeed white. At that time, there was a limit to the number of colors you could use, so I think that white was chosen because it stood out more.  They were also white in Kirby Super Star (EU: Kirby's Fun Pak), but when we created the 3D model for this game, giving him white eyes somehow didn't feel right. And besides, his eyes have always shone with a yellow glow from behind his mask. We were worried about how old-school fans might react to this, but for the purposes of the design, we settled on yellow eyes.
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 2:18 PM
I'd like to group the next three questions together. No. 1: Did you increase the overall difficulty level for this game? No. 2: There seem to be a lot more cinematic effects this time. Was this deliberate? No. 3: The opening movie sequence was a lot shorter this time round. Why is that?
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:20 PM
All right, I'll explain. Regarding the difficulty, I think that you should still be able to complete the main game with relative ease (easy enough for a developer's 4-year-old daughter to defeat the bosses in levels 1-3). But for the modes that are unlocked after completing Story Mode, we cranked the difficulty right up and challenged players to try and give it their best shot. Next, we used movie-like camera angles to reinforce the sci-fi theme. And during boss fights, we utilized pauses and moments of foreboding to give players with less experience in the action genre more time to orient themselves. And as for the opening movie, the reason why it's so short is because last time we depicted key items and daily life in great detail. We decided to forego that this time because players are already familiar with those kinds of stage-setting scenes from the rest of the series. We instead chose to leap straight into the moment of the disaster.
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 2:22 PM
And now for the final question, which concerns Kirby's partners, the Robobots. A Robobot weeps tears at the end - can we take this to mean that it has become sentient? And will Kirby ever meet one again?
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:23 PM
What you saw was coolant leaking from the Robobot's eyes. This scene, depicting a tender-hearted Robobot, stands in direct contrast to Star Dream, who wanted to erase the hearts of the people trying to control it. Each Robobot that Kirby controlled was different from the last, but whenever Kirby was registered as a pilot in one, the memory data would be linked and carried over, and that continued till the very end. As for whether they'll meet again, I'll leave that up to how passionate the fans are for such a reunion.
Tumblr media
イシダ
09/07/2016 2:25 PM
What exactly happened to the Robobot after that? I'm curious to know myself. But now, after three rounds of questions, our Kirby: Planet Robobot Ask-a-thon draws to a close. Many thanks to everyone who stuck with us this far!
Tumblr media
クマザキ
09/07/2016 2:26 PM
A big thank you from me as well, and I do hope we'll meet again some time!

Welcome back to Pure hardstyle episode 6! Today we got something special as this episode will be an Intents festival tribute! One of my personal favorite festivals in the year. Unfortunately Intents festival will also not take place in this year, but let’s hope we can meet there again next summer! INNER WORKINGS PT2
WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS TRACK I IMMEDIETLY START THINKING ABOUT INNER WORKINGS IN A CITY. HOW WE INTERACT, MORE ESPECILLY THE MACRO INNER WORKINGS, THE INVISIBLE DETAILS WHICH STEM FROM EACH INDIVIDUAL. THE SUBLE ELECTRICITY WHICH IS EVER PRESENT, EVENUALLY TTHE PEOPLE IN OUR DREAMS ARE KNOWN CHARACTERS AROUND US. THERE IS NO INVERSE, ONLY ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE. DO WE FUNCTION ON MISUNDERSTANDING? IS THE IDEA OF CURIOSITY OBSTRUCTED BY THE VERY THING WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND, THE INDIVIDUAL? WHEN ARE WE AND WHAT ARE WE REALLY DOING. THIS IS WHEN I BEGIN TO LAUGH AT MYSELF. THERE IS NO WAY ANYONE CAN TAKE THIS THING SERIOUSY, WHY WOULD NYONE PARTICIPATE? ANOTHER THOUGHT ARRISES AS I WRITE THIS, IT COULD BE POSSIBLE THAT THE WORLD IS MADE UP OF INDIVIDUALS WHO NEVER TRULLY PARTICIPATED. WE WERE ALL NOT PICKED AT SOME POINT. BUT I DIGRESS, THAT IS FOR COMEDY. ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE, WE ARE ALL SCARED INDIVIUDALS EXPERIENCING THE SHCK TO TO EXISTENCE. NONE OF US HAVE LIVED TWICE TO EVER TELL THE STORY. PARTICIPATING WHILE BEING AWARE OF WHO THE IDEA CAME TO BE AND ALL THE POSSOBLE REASONS AND UNFINNISHED REASON TO ITS BEING. PLEASE HEAL AND GIVE YOURSELF TIME.

INTRODUCTION PT4
What is the use of marketing purpose if your showing a billion images at once at an individual? There is no balance, the only curency witout waves is war and peace, a stagnant ocean with every creature dead preaching repetition and pardon. A teenage existence with an idea ploughed by media the first day it came to be, as a teenage shoot ever showerd by the static from electronic devices it stared and lost time to, lost pieces of sight, taste, scent, touch, hearing of sound and possible thought to. Self awereness contrasted with procrastinating. What a beautiful name given to the most vile thing we can do to ourselves. Procrastination is suicide, you do not get back the time you smeared all over the clock you have no idea came to be.
Life is the ability to participate in the most beautifuly and most RaRa (God in English) event ever to th etake place in any existence or possible existence, infinity. RaRa aware of itself, respectfuly with every being of my light through its light. This they call language is too part of the caurency with no wave. How many rules will you be taught about the language you based your survival on, a laguage and sound which is neither concered about you and never infinitly will, a language which changes the very ound of your inside voice, voice in dream, voice in being, including the voice which is. This is the most simple code ever write or ever though of which never was writen or even spoken, its a code which honestly does not go beyond the strucures of the sky, beyond that it is what every individual seeks, the truth, away from the fine detailed sigoggily manner, it is the light or idea we're all right about. Language is under developed to describe it. Each time an individual seeks a description of this the answer is to build and present what was built as thhe answer to their curiosity. The only language further there after is the laguage of building to communicate. A language equally as beautiful and necesary the building is the language of deconstruction.

CULTURE IS TOXI:C PT8
Cuture is toxic. What is it that an individual is able to achieve while being, in their own individuals mindset and by its own standards against itself and itself holesomely? What do i possess tha makes me worthy to even begin to think about describing what another individual is experiencing; in regards to existence. In this essay i will attempt to unpack my obsrvations from an individuals experience of existence.
Culture is the aquired abity of choosing to tolerate your enironment including everything with in the environment part of the same exisiting body, both aware and unaware in a condenced stucture which is forced to follow synthetic rules to everything it finds in this environment which it itself is forgine and alien to. everthought is a copy of its image in its minute scale throughout the infinite, using infiniy as a scale of measure. There is a specific presence which comes with structure, rutine, fixed form, conclusion, fear or control. It resembles a two-way mirror, your being feels the presence of others, you have aquired this skill and deveoped it your interire life and are presently developing it, infinity. This is when the human being functions below 30 percent of brain capacity. Everything around us is meant to affect and effect our minds and disrupt the natural flow of imagry in the mind. Existing in spaces filled with mixed races and energies, it is true that energy can be transfered thus proving that energy is different forms and states. Emotion can be translated to colour and sound; language as sound linked to the visual espect of reality as colour, the image we're seeing is a controlled mixes of colours, sounds, movments, vibrations and structured-confusion.

INTRODUCTION PT11
Akama (2012) states that culture is“that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, arts, society” (p. 91). Culture is passed on from generation to generation. The acquisition of culture is a result of the socialisation process. Explaining how culture is passed on as a generational heritage, Fafunwa (1974: 48) writes that: The child just grows into and within the cultural heritage of his people. He imbibes it. Culture, intraditional society, is not taught; it is caught. The child observes, imbibes and mimics the action of his elders and siblings. He watches the naming ceremonies, religious services, marriage rituals, funeral obsequies. He witnesses the coronation of a king or chief, the annual yam festival, the annual dance and acrobatic displays of guilds and age groups or his relations in the activities.

DANGERS AND FEAR: PT11
What are you afraid of?
This is no way linked to fear or danger.I am afraid of not fulfilling my potential. I am afraid of seeing and experiencing, letting, everyone who believes in me, down and experiencing theing feeling after toward me. I nw realise that i am only incharge of my existence and what actions and choices i take/make. It is not i my power to change your mind. I am only there to provide my 'subjective'data and information so you want to react to it. i should not worry about what others react or how they react or anything tied to their reaction.
I now reatlise that i mostly fearded what others thought eg. what are you affraid when both parties are affraid, given that they have an equal expeience of existence. Staing calm alows one to slow their oppinions, environment, objects and subjects become clear and you are the force which directs the experience.
What makes you tick?
This is more evident that one should always kill internal and personal insecurieties. You only fold when you know the weak spot to be weak and you submit to yor oponent. ''Enemy'' is an emotive response and labe/classification you overwhelm yourself ith the energy of discovering weak spot in yourself and others coming to thst conclusion about yourself.
We are made in the image of God. if one creates an image after theirs that means we should be ourselves and perfect. Our Perfectness overwhelms our percieved imperfections. Nothing we do is imperfect, just does not suit our pallets.
The esiest way to build virtual reality is through a language.

SOUNDS HUMAN: PT12
Speaking language is the ability to understand sounds humans have designated subjectively as a collective to communicte by selectively assigning sounnd to emotion or feeling(feeling is not emootion, rather it is a descriotion of the osychological state an individual is in, influenced not only by the interaction within the moment but by their entire lives affect this moment furthermore the infkuences *external too* & choices add on to this perferct chaos of communication further more from life being one entire moments experience).
Emotions are subjective. in this existence we spend our entire lives barely able to communicte the idea of what we are thinking or how we percieve things. As individual why do we use only one languange? (Depending on where you are, i will use English in this regard) is the idea of laguage sso clouded that the us eof one language seems to be corret? I'll make an obsrvation: you as a person to boil a cup of tea for you with three seaspoons of sugar and no milk, the agree to your request bringing you a cup of tea, as you taste this tea, to your individuals perspective and eperirnce, this is nota two teaspoon cup of tea, it tastes like it has four. In sths short story what we should conceider are a few ideas anemly, the tea drinkers history and how she grew up and what two teaspoons of sugar is for her, through measurement or simply suggest that she had different spoon sizes growing up. This idea should be extended in also acknowlaging the perspective of the one who made the tea, their history and their personal undrstanding.

purity - one should be transparnt beyond the barriers of the word, beyond the social bariers and current updates in modern day of the word and what individuals 9thriugh time0 set barriers to the word. This should not be confused with truth. Purity enables the individuals humanities be at an equilibriu and everything aligned to it.
thruth - '' including my enire existence, being, light, wisom, memeory, beyond, am not in ay different phases as i am now and will be later and in the future times we meet. Any shift and/or of phase, you will be updated.'' This topic should be the primary drive to existene and to the experience of life. Truth becomes, it is a part of what builds the force. No question, no doubt.
being - Ye. This is a state where one is. No internal factors are able to change thi state moreso, no external factors affect the individual.
focus - there are no barriers in the number of subjects or actions one needs to complete or brig to a state where you have completed what you need to do. Focus is the means to complete or do what needs to be done consostently. This is in no way appart of consistency.
consistency - The art of training the wills mind power to flowas you breathe, blink, digest, moveblood through your body, keep your electric megnatism flawlessly in pure pattern which is no pattern yet it flows. ''wate''.
understanding - In no way is this linked to submitting to anyone including to yourself. This is the ability to disect yourself, sift through yourself, better yourself and continue searching and eposing yourself to informtion.
know - mastering your environment is God. Your environment includes, self-knowledge, the awareness of life forms, the awareness of other knowledge and wisdom, mastering the unseen environment, the ability to put individuals in that mind frame.
action - This rukes out procrastination. This is applying and moving toard your goal or what ritual needs to be preformed to bring about this menifistation.
standing my gtound firmy - This includes the focus of all your likes ino oneself and applying this into the real world and the world percieved by individuals. This goes beyond anyones belief rather, the beief of truth.
afirm your ideas - Your ideas are an extention of yourself. Extended yourself and put life in it. Make in thr image of God.
the ability to see bryond people - ''the light in your eye is the space which your atoms have not connected''.
This is the ability to see the difference in force between oneself and the external environment which my existence has nothing t do with me. The abilitiy to anrticulate my history, ancistory and being. This helps exercise my future and affirms that the generaion will continue. Thishelps one understandtheir genetics and bility to procreate, exell, behave, diet, move, exposed to, how to conduct converstation and cntrol oneself.

Putting Coker Tire’s New Firestone Wide-Oval Radial Tires to the Test in Corky Coker’s 1967 RS Camaro
Let’s face it: We’re spoiled. Back when our muscle cars were new cars roaming the byways of America, we were he-men who figured that things like manual steering, manual brakes, and, yes, bias-ply tires were the best things going. Fast-forward 40 years and take into account the real-world wisdom that has accumulated (like our gray hair) over that time, and we have become accustomed to power accessories and better tires. Namely, radial tires.
According to our buddy Tommy Lee Byrd, who gets to do cool stuff for us media guys at Coker Tire in Chattanooga, Tennessee, radials are not as new as we think. Michelin had them for European sports cars soon after World War II. The difference between the two tire types is based on internal construction. A bias-ply tire uses multiple layers of rubber, some fused with materials like rayon or fiberglass, carefully molded together to form an interdependent tire face (or crown) and sidewall. Beneficial for heavy loading, these plies run at a crosshatching 30- to 45-degree angle to the tread centerline.
On a radial design the sidewall and crown are not integral; rather, a belt of steel runs around the crown area, allowing for a stiffer sidewall and wider tire face. Corky Coker believes his latest product release, a newly designed line of Firestone Wide Oval and Super Sport redline radial tires, is where muscle car-era tires would have gone if things like emissions controls had not taken center stage at the start of the 1970s. Hey, better later than never, and frankly better than ever.
For a lot of guys who enjoy driving vintage iron, there are a number of excellent modern radial options available. But for those muscle car owners who want to maintain their car’s vintage identity right down to where the rubber meets the road, until recently the only (safe) option was to roll on reproductions of original bias-ply designs, among them Coker’s still-available line of authentic Firestone models. At the start of 2017, Coker announced this release, and we went down to Chattanooga to run one of the very first sets on Corky’s own 1967 RS Camaro.
Tommy Lee was on hand, and it would be the first time he had driven on the tires as well. The car is a 327ci four-speed convertible, an older restoration with a fresh motor and new brake lines, attractive with blue stripes and matching blue interior. Our May afternoon was a pretty spring day, with temperatures in the mid-80s, and we started out with a set of OE-style D70-14 tires that were correct for this model. I was going to be the designated driver, but after finding that the car’s Saginaw tranny and associated shifter were not going to cooperate, I convinced Tommy Lee to pilot while I took photos. Besides, I had driven enough restored bias-ply big-blocks that I already knew what they would feel like.
We made a run of about 15 miles on the original tires to a burger joint in the town of Red Bank, which gave us a couple of highway blasts, some in-town action, and some cornering. The bias-ply design could find highway cracks to track with, and steering was a little more point-and-feel than what more modern construction allows for. This car does have manual steering and front disc brakes. The impression was, well, typical.
“From the driver’s seat it felt like the original-style bias-ply tires accentuated the car’s aged suspension and steering system,” Tommy Lee noted. “It wasn’t dangerous or scary, but keeping the car between the lines at highway speeds required a bit more effort than your average daily driver.”
As we looked at the designs in the Coker showroom, Tommy Lee pointed out the hard edge of the crown on the OE-correct bias-ply Wide Oval. This was actually designed into the tire back then, perhaps to let the hard edge “profile” better. This may also be part of the reason the bias-ply tires walk in pavement cracks. The biggest exterior change on the new Coker Tire design is that this ridgeline is gone. The series uses the letter R in the size coding; the set we would put on the Camaro were FR70-15. Due to recent changes in DOT laws, these tires (and all new tires) require a DOT number cast into the front and rear faces near the bead edge.
The benefits of radial tire designs are that they offer better road-to-tire contact, run cooler when driven longer distances, offer longer tire life, and overall feature stronger construction. Coker also had a fresh set of new GM-design Rally wheels with trim rings and center caps to mount the new tires on. Of course, stepping from the D70-14 to an F70-15 (actually FR70-15) did not make for a completely unbiased test (couldn’t resist, sorry). We would be increasing the diameter as well as the tread width. However, it would be the first time for either of us on the new rubber.
This time we stayed off the interstates to begin with; instead, we started a climb up historic U.S. 41 toward Lookout Mountain, the legendary Chattanooga Civil War landmark and a great place to get the tires on a combination of curves and straight pavement. Tommy Lee fired it up, and we headed south.
The first thing we noticed was that the car rode quieter. Even in the passenger seat I could feel the difference in how the car was going through the corners. It was firmer.
“We’ve had a hard time keeping these tires on the shelf, so I was excited to finally try them for myself,” Tommy Lee said. “I’ve driven old cars on bias-ply and radial tires, so I knew what sort of changes to expect. The difference in ride quality was more than anticipated, and I just wanted to keep driving it to see if I could find a weak spot with the new radials.”
We climbed up a notable road grade, turning off in a little park to get a couple of beauty shots. Whether bias-ply or radial, that set of fresh rims and tires really woke up this car’s curbside appearance.
Again, the benefits of Coker Tire’s full-service offering of both the rubber and the hardware was a big improvement over shopping these components from different sources. If you buy the tires, they come wrapped in a secure plastic covering. If you order them with the wheels, Coker Tire will mount and balance them at no charge.
We then headed out to Highway 27 and took a jaunt north at highway speeds for a few more images. The larger tire size filled the wheelwells much better than the prior examples had, but Tommy Lee’s impression of cruising in traffic was a bit different than the earlier trip for lunch.
“With the new Wide Oval Radials, the car’s handling characteristics changed drastically on curvy roads. Once we got onto the highway and reached about 65 miles per hour, the new radial tires made this feel like a completely different car. The stability, handling, and reduced road noise are noticeable the moment you hit the road.”
The MSRP retail price is stated between $230 and $325 per tire, and they look correct to the era of your classic muscle car. As we noted, you can get nice modern rubber from other manufacturers, but by letting you fully enjoy driving a restoration with correct-appearing Firestone tires once again shows that Coker Tire has its finger on the pulse of today’s collector car hobby.

001-coker-tire-comparo-1967-chevrolet-camaro-driving-action 1 Out on the highway the new tires really show their stuff. Corky Coker’s 1967 Camaro RS drop-top was styling, too, with a fresh motor, lightly tuned suspension, and OE-appearing Firestone Wide Oval radials.
002-coker-tire-comparo-sidewall-marking 2 Here is the subtle visual difference in the markings on the new tires. In place of “F70-15,” the design reads “FR70-15,” with “radial” below it. On the redline designs, the redline was raised rather than left carved into the sidewall in the interest of sidewall strength.
003-coker-tire-comparo-bias-ply-crown-edge (NOTE TO TOM: please rotate so horizon is flat) 3 This hard edge to the crown on the standard (and period-correct) Firestone Wide Oval bias-ply design was created back in the 1960s and may have influenced why the tires seem to follow pavement creases at highway speeds. This was the set of D70-14s we started our day on.
004-coker-tire-comparo-wide-oval-radial-crown 4 The new Coker-designed Firestone Wide Oval eliminates the ridge, leaving the smoother radius found on most modern radial designs. The tread design itself remains unchanged.
005-coker-tire-comparo-mounting-tires 5 In Coker Tire’s garage, Keith Brown made quick work of getting four fresh wheels and tires ready for our Camaro’s road test. Coker Tire offers free mounting and balancing if you purchase tires and wheels together.
006-coker-tire-comparo-new-tire-wrapped-for-shipment 6 If purchased new simply as replacements, the tires are shipped tightly wrapped in plastic to protect the surface and graphics.
007-coker-tire-comparo-stunkard-byrd-on-road (needs credit) Marty McHugh photo 7 Stunkard (right) and Tommy Lee Byrd discuss how the bias-ply tires work during a trip for lunch. Our tests entailed driving in a variety of conditions.
008-coker-tire-comparo-cornering-on-wide-oval-radial 8 One benefit of a radial versus a similar bias-ply is the way the internal steel belting on the tread face allows more of the radial tire’s footprint on the pavement. Here the car crests a grade and shows the amount of tread surface on the road.
009-coker-tire-comparo-driving-action-tire-close-up 9 If you are used to driving on the bias-ply tires that are commonplace in the hobby, you will certainly notice big differences in handling quality and road noise when you switch to the Wide Oval radials. The radial design also extends tread life.
010-coker-tire-comparo-1967-chevrolet-camaro-on-lift 10 There is something unusual about Corky Coker’s 1967 Camaro. Can you spot it? (If you like gen-one models, you will probably get it right away.) Answer: The car, an older restoration, has 1968 quarter-panels and marker lights.

A refreshingly creative twist on beer
At Blue Moon Brewing Company® something is always brewing – literally and figuratively. That’s because everything we do starts with creative inspiration. And that was true from the very beginning. In 1995, our head brewmaster Keith Villa, put a new-world twist on the old-world art of brewing and created a refreshingly unique take on the classic Belgian Wit beers he had grown to love while studying brewing in Brussels. By taking inspiration from the classic Belgian Wit recipe and then tweaking it with Valencia orange peel and adding a touch of coriander, Keith crafted a beer unlike any other. The result was Blue Moon Belgian White*. Beer drinkers really loved its subtle sweetness and citrusy flavor. Which just goes to show that life is a lot more interesting when something’s brewing.
