Summary:

Two times Cater danced with his beloved, and one time he danced with a traitor.

The first time Cater danced with his beloved was when he was feeling a little hope.

One thing the Queen of Heart is famous for is the saying, "off with their head". Ever since he was little, Cater always thought that the queen was a great person. Someone who can express her annoyance and actually do something about it. For a little boy who is trapped with his stepfamily whose heart is filled with hurt. Cater longs to have the power to express himself one day.

Going to NRC is an escape for him. He's the loud kid, the social butterfly, the one who always smiles on magicam. He's the dominant one in conversation who would whine and sigh loud when nothing goes his way. However, he's careful. Nobody knows the hurt. He can't let anyone knows about it. He doesn't want his reputation to be ruined. He has to keep smiling.

So why the fuck was Trey Clover being suspicious of him?

He was his roommate back in the first year. A gentle guy and a rather good-looking one as well. A great baker who provides all-nighter snacks for everyone in the room. A smart student, making sure no one gets left behind. A perfect candidate for a prefect or at least vice prefect. Maybe it was because he is so gentle that Cater lowered his guard down.

It was that one instance when Cater didn't smile. It was a bad day for him where everything became too overwhelming. And the ever-so-patient Trey was there, sitting next to him with their back leaning against the bed. He didn't force him to tell him anything. He was offering:

"If you need someone to talk to, I'm always here to listen."

"Why?" Cater asked.

Trey smiled gently. "Because I believe that no one should be alone."

Cater wasn't ready to believe him fully, but there was a little piece inside of him that was willing to give Trey a chance. He wasn't ready to cry in front of him or to admit emptiness clawing inside him. But instead, he stood up and pulled Trey's hands. Trey didn't protest albeit a little bit confused, but the ever bright Cater (no matter how fake it was) didn't stop. He spun them around in a childish dance and he smiled genuinely. It was rare for him because Trey even widened his eyes. Cater had suspected Trey knew he was wearing a mask to hide his real broken self away, thus this moment of vulnerability in form of a noncoordinated dance was a precious moment for both of them.

It ended too soon, unfortunately, but Cater pulled them closer, clutching Trey's back as he rested his face on the other's shoulder. "Thank you," he whispered. "I'll tell you soon."

Trey hugged him back. It was so warm. "I'll be waiting."

The second time Cater danced with his beloved was when he was feeling a little jealous.

The one name Cater fears and hates is Riddle Rosehearts. He came during his second year and he had been getting on his nerve since the coronation. Yes, there was a coronation. Held to crown the new prefect of Heartslabyul.

And that prefect was Cater.

It was something unexpected, so totally out of the world. At the same time, it was a dream come true. The power that he wished for a long was now in his hand. He swore to himself that he won't lose it, that he will use his title with care, to make Heartlabyul a fun place to live in.

And of course, he chose Trey to be his vice prefect.

Call him selfish, but Cater had become too attached to Trey. He had appeared very often in his picture (more like Cater pulled him along, though Trey never protested it), they had spent many times studying and hanging out outside of school. He wants to always be with Trey.

And yet, Trey seemed to try to get closer to Riddle. Cater saw them talking to each other so often that it made him grit his teeth. Trey was with Riddle when he was supposed to be with Cater. He's his vice prefect.

So why the fuck Trey Clover is trying to get closer with this first year?

"What's your relationship with him anyway?" Cater asked one cloudy day.

"He is..." Trey let out a sigh, "...was my childhood friend. It had been so long since I've seen him."

Childhood friends, huh? They had a relationship before them. Something inside Cater cracked like the dark thundering clouds above them. He was afraid. Afraid that Trey would leave him for Riddle Rosehearts. Afraid that the emptiness becomes worse without him. Afraid that he had to wear a thicker mask to the point he no longer knows recognize his true feeling.

Cater wasn't ready to lose that and he still want to keep Trey on his side. He was still holding on to that childish hope that Trey would be the one who could take this ugly feeling away from him forever. Thus, he grabbed Trey's hand and pulled him to the center of the rose maze. Trey didn't protest, but even he had a hard time keeping up with Cater. His dance is harsh and fast like the downpour to the point of almost ripping Trey's arm off. For the first time since he became the King of Heartslabyul, he abused his authority in this dance, dominating and not letting Trey slow down. It was about Cater and Cater alone.

Cater snapped his fingers. "You're my vice, aren't you? Shouldn't you be with me?" For the first time, Cater felt like he terrifies Trey.

But the other still nodded. "Of course."

"Then stay with me tonight."

"Yes, prefect."

The only time Cater danced with a traitor was when he was feeling a little dead inside.

Cater knew that his time was limited. There were rumors circling in the dorm of Riddle Rosehearts' overpowered magic ability. The kid had made a name of herself. A perfect replica of the Queen of Hearts from her anger and her ruthlessness in enforcing the rule. A perfect candidate for the prefect position and a threat for Cater. Days went by with building anxiety like the dread of execution and he had no way to escape this. It was embarrassing when he admit to Trey that he hadn't been doing well in class these recent days. He wasn't really touching his afternoon snack. He hadn't been able to post on magicam. Even smiling felt like a chore. He was slipping and he knew it. And yet he couldn't drop it. Not now. Not when he had built it for a year.

Of course, Trey was the first one to notice. He was true to his world to be with him more than just being his vice prefect. But there would be times when Cater would catch him hanging out with Riddle. What was worse, was how Riddle seemed to warm up with Trey. He could see a small smile when Trey handed his signature strawberry tart. Cater recalled the night Trey made that tart, saying how Riddle was the first one to taste his baking when they were a child. While Cater did coo, deep inside he knew he felt the swelling jealousy.

But Cater couldn't stop it. He couldn't stop the countdown. It was too late now to become a harsh prefect. He had built his persona as the sunny kid who is always smiling despite the problems surrounding him, the fun prefect who let you do whatever you want as long as you aren't breaking the rule. Everyone would assume that these things won't bother him, thus he kept up the act. He had to keep up his image.

So why the fuck is Trey Clover testing his patience?

The hallways were dark, devoid of any students for it had passed their curfew. Cater and Trey stood facing each other, not really talking. For one, Trey actually looked guilty and Cater didn't know why at the moment. But suddenly, Trey pulled Cater closer. Cater did let out a confused noise, but Trey seemed not really paying any attention as if his mind was filled with puzzles. His dance was desperate yet unsure. It felt like he wanted Cater to take the reign but he wasn't ready to hand it to him. Trey stepped on Cater's foot many times and never apologize (but Cater didn't mind because the pain sort of grounded him) and very pulls were carefully calculated like was holding on to the flimsiest string (Cater held his hand tighter to remind him that he's not fragile). Trey wasn't even smiling, only frowning, which made Cater unable to smile as well.

Finally, Trey stopped and he pulled Cater into a hug. Cater could feel Trey's lips close to his ear. And the other whispered. "Riddle challenges you to a duel for the crown. And the headmaster allowed it."

Cater sucked in a breath. This is it. "He can't..."

"I'm sorry." Trey held him tighter as if Cater would break if he didn't (and to be honest, he would). "I tried to stop him."

Cater didn't say a word. What was left to say? His execution was the next day. It was too late to confess everything to Trey. He would carry this to his graduation.

It turned out to be true as the collar cast by Riddle's unique magic closed around Cater’s neck, marking the end of his young reign. Riddle's coronation was held later that evening and, of course, he chose Trey as his vice prefect.

Cater didn't even stay for the rest of the celebration, choosing to leave the dorm and walked down the main street. He stopped in front of the Queen of Heart statue.

Perhaps a lower one like him doesn't deserve the power and companions. Perhaps he's never destined to be the King of Heartslabyul until his third year. Perhaps Trey is never meant to be his faithful partner.

Perhaps longing for something that is impossible in the first place was his biggest mistake.

Level Up! Video Game Skill by Twinsimming 🎮

Happy New Year 🥳 Here's my first mod for 2024!!

This mod expands on The Sims 3's hidden Video Game skill by making it similar to the skill of the same name in The Sims 4.

This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.

New Moodlets

Video Games

Sims can now play all 6 computer games available in The Sims 3, regardless of their Nerd Influence level. They also have access to 9 additional computer games from The Sims 4. All of these games will raise their hidden Video Game skill.

If you have @olomaya's Voidcritters mod installed, your sims can also “Play Voidcritters” on the computer to level up their Voidcritters skill along with their hidden Video Game skill.

The “Play Chess” interaction has been moved out of the “Play Video Game…” pie menu to avoid it getting lost among all of the new options.

Tournaments

Teen and older sims with level 2 hidden Video Game skill or higher can compete in video game tournaments on the computer. There are five tiers of tournament, each costing more in entry fees and being harder to win, but offering larger cash prizes.

The tournament tiers, required levels, lengths, entry costs, prize amounts, and chances of winning are as follows:

Amateur (Level 2) - 2 hours, §25 entry fee, 1st Place (§150), 2nd Place (§100), 3rd Place (§50), 40% chance of winning

Novice (Level 4) - 3 hours, §50 entry fee, 1st Place (§450), 2nd Place (§300), 3rd Place (§150), 35% chance of winning

Semi Pro (Level 6) - 4 hours, §75 entry fee, 1st Place (§750), 2nd Place (§600), 3rd Place (§450), 30% chance of winning

Pro (Level 8) - 5 hours, §100 entry fee, 1st Place (§1050), 2nd Place (§900), 3rd Place (§750), 25% chance of winning

Elite (Level 10) - 6 hours, §125 entry fee, 1st Place (§3000), 2nd Place (§1500), 3rd Place (§1000), 20% chance of winning

If your sim cancels the tournament interaction for any reason (mood failure, buff timeout, etc.) they will automatically forfeit the tournament. But they can enter a new tournament right away without a cooldown.

Placing in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grants positive moodlets (Winner!, Runner Up, or Bronze Baby), along with prize money. If your sim doesn’t make the podium, they don’t get anything but a negative custom moodlet called Loser.

Win or lose, your sim won’t be able to compete in another tournament until their moodlet expires.

Certain traits can either increase or decrease your chance of winning a video game tournament by 5% (note: this value stacks the more traits your sim has):

Increased Chance Traits - Lucky and Computer Whiz

Decreased Chance Traits - Unlucky, Absent Minded, and Loser

A sim’s hidden Video Game skill and hidden Arcade Machine skill also factor into their overall winning chance.

Stadium Tournaments

If your sim is at least level 6 in the hidden Video Game skill, they can compete in video game tournaments held at the stadium rabbithole on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays @ 1:00pm.

There are Semi Pro, Pro, and Elite level tournaments available, with a slightly higher entrance fee than computer tournaments, but they offer much more prize money and celebrity points if your sim comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.

The chances of winning these tournaments is the same as their computer tournament equivalent listed above.

Semi Pro Stadium Tournament (Level 6) - 4 hours, §150 entry fee, 1st Place (§3000), 2nd Place (§2000), 3rd Place (§1500)

Pro Stadium Tournament (Level 8) - 5 hours, §175 entry fee, 1st Place (§6500), 2nd Place (§5000), 3rd Place (§3500)

Elite Stadium Tournament (Level 10) - 6 hours, §200 entry fee, 1st Place (§10000), 2nd Place (§8500), 3rd Place (§7000)

So I found out about Splinter in Dead man’s eye

I just saw a post from someone saying Jews hate Palestinians because Jews have no culture.

First of all, Jews don’t hate Palestinians.

Second of all, the dumbest fucking thing someone could ever say about Jews is that we don’t have culture??????

Anyways, don’t buy into bullshit that tries to divide us. Palestinians and Jews and Israelis all have very rich and distinct cultures. But being that we share a homeland, there is of course some overlap. And we should celebrate it and rejoice in the things we have in common. More unites us than divides us.

125 celebration Part 1-Best manga

in no specific order

1-A girl on the shore

A Girl On the Shore is a very special manga, it's short, reaching around 20 chapters, but this manga is so incredibly dense and holds so much within those 20 chapters. It tells the story of these two kids, well, mainly a young girl, but the boy plays a pretty important part. The two are growing up and experiencing all the troubles that come with maturing both physically and emotionally in a town that holds nothing but misery for them. It deals with serious themes just as delicately as they need to, almost perfectly showing how adolescent relationships can hurt, how suicidalality and depression weave into the very town they live in. A Girl On the Shore is just incredible, words cannot really describe how I feel about this series but I just need you to know that this fucking destroyed me as I read it. It is a series that hit very close to home, and I find it beautiful in how organically it is able to display the events that take place.

2-Yomawari Sensei

Yomawari Sensei is a series of vignettes, this old night patrolman and teacher of a night class tells stories about kids he met in his line of work. Almost all of those kids got left behind by society at some point, he helps addicts, suicidal teens and kids, children stuck in abusive households and those that experience severe bullying by peers, just to name a few. The teacher, Mizutani, tries to save all of these kids from their circumstances, he lifted so many out of bad situations, but he’s also lost so many, 42 real children if my memory serves. A few of the losses detailed in the manga I think will stick with me forever.

One is about a young man with epilepsy, he was never able to hold down a job because he’d eventually have a seizure and end up a liability. That boy’s dream was to be a chef if my memory serves right, and Mizutani was able to get him help and secure medication for his condition, with that the boy was able to secure a job and start working, either right before or soon after the boy achieved his dream, he stopped taking his meds for one night, because they made him sick, the boy then suffered a severe seizure in his sleep and choked to death in his sleep.

Another one deals with a recovering addict, I believe we come back to this boy many times throughout the series. He’d started dealing at some point and eventually turned himself In at the advice of Mizutani, and once he got out of jail he tried to live a normal life again, but his friend got him back into that life. Eventually after a series of dark events the either boy’s friend or the boy himself overdoses in their bathtub. After that the victim’s mother makes a heart wrenching call to one of the characters that I can’t seem to remember, this one was hard to read.

And finally the most tragic of them, something I don’t want to spoil so I won’t. But it’s a story that pops up throughout the series. There’s this young teenage boy and his blind mom, the boy ends up joining a biker gang and bad things happen. The boy was born in the aftermath of rape, and it was always just those two against the world, something that you can only expect to end in tragedy.

Overall Yomawari Sensei was an incredible read and it’s both and incredibly produced and important manga.

3-Girl’s last tour

Girls last tour deals with the story of two girls traveling the wastes of a now extinct industrial superpower. I honestly don’t believe I am smart enough to get everything out of this manga. It’s got incredible depth in worldbuilding and thematics, it’s got this all consuming feeling of this odd emotion I can’t describe throughout the series. The art may not be anything amazing technically wise, but the direction is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, it helps drive home the idea of these two small beings of warmth thriving in this cold steel hell that’s perfectly streamlined. And how that life will continue to thrive in spite of all that tries to keep it down.

4-Homunculus

There’s so many reviews made by much more talented than I about this work so I won’t waste your time too much on it. This one is probably my most basic best manga pick. This manga deals with some really interesting philosophy in what it means to be human and how we see the world. It’s a good read I would recommend.

5-Rainbow

Rainbow tells the story of a group of young boys in postwar Japan that have all ended up in a juvenile facility for one reason or another. They get abused inside and once they get out they vow to make the doctor pay for his crimes. And eventually do, from there all of the boys go on to live their own lives after the war, whether it be in the sdf, becoming a loaner, a pro boxer, or a singer, they all find new ways to live away from the old society that once held them down. There’s a plot twist with their older brother figure that’s metaphorically the changing of the old Japan into the New age Japan for the boys. And overall this series was just a great time to read and it too is dear to me

The one story that scares me the most away from substance use is Jimmy Page. It's not an easy topic to go by, yet I'm still hesitant to post this.

Finding out the pure severity of Jimmy's health between '75-'83, mainly talking about 1977. This whole topic makes me so sad, but I always keep looking.

More under cut, it's a long post unpacking that year. Feel free to add.

We all know he did heroin, starting in 1975, and that he's always been skinny and underweight. But it started amping up in '76, taking more with a noticeable weight loss.

That man was practically on the brink of death from 1977. Between constant shows, rarely eating save for a liquid diet, rarely sleeping, and his addictions... it's scary. He had a weight goal that'd been just about reached: between 125-130 Ibs at 5'11½". (And while an inaccurate measurement of health for those heavier, this falls into 17 on the BMI chart: severely underweight) He dropped a few waist sizes (men's 29 in '75, down to men's 26) and had refused to talk to Peter Clifton after he'd included wide shots of Jimmy in TSRTS and a single roll of his stomach, as it made his ass "too wide." The black dragon pants didn't fit anymore, and fell off during a show. You can see him in the black dragon suit plus a belt during the Oakland photos. Note that these pants had completely fit him without need of a belt two years prior. He ended up at around a men's 26 waist. He'd stopped eating completely for a few days in a row during some tours.

Safe to say, Jimmy was extremely weight conscious. I think he met the criteria for an eating disorder diagnosis, as well.

There's accounts of him having stage fright and anxiety. He'd show up to '77 tour shows completely exhausted, nodding off constantly. Peter Grant had ended up slapping him awake and giving him coke just so he wouldn't pass out.

Then, there's the Chicago '77 show. Jimmy, sick on stage. His eyes are bloodshot, he's had nothing but orange juice in the past 60 hours, along with no sleep in that time frame. Sick from smack and coke, along with all of the previous factors of being an anxious wreck. It's a wonder he got through the first 7 songs before having to sit down during Ten Years Gone, calling for a 5 minute break, and then canceling the show. He couldn't go on that night, just nearly crumpling to sit. This is the story that scared me the most.

I remember reading this account from Dave Northover (Jones' personal assistant):

This is what shattered my heart, initially reading it. How harshly drugs shattered Jimmy's brain, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. There's also a quote from Jimmy in an interview from the year: "I'm not into solid foods very much. I can't remember when I last had a steak. A few tours ago. It's just that you don't want too much in your stomach when you're playing. And there are some places you can't eat after you come back from the gig." He then notes that the banana daiquiris that he'd been consuming all the time are the answer to any problems, "having that every day and nothing to eat at all."

Additionally, In that interview, Jimmy says that earlier on in Zeppelin, Jimmy "had really been eating" and that he'd tried on the clothes from when he was in school, only for it to be very loose. It worries me more to remember that Jimmy stopped school at the age of 16 and had always been underweight. High metabolism, illness prone, and bouts of glandular fever during his time with The Crusaders (still was a teenager), not improved one bit by his undereating.

It's hurtful to hear how, more often than not, the media will praise a celebrity for their skinny figure, even if they're extremely unhealthy with it. Jimmy Page is no exception, as people praised him for his figure during his age.

Heroin is no joke, and I wouldn't wish the addiction it so easily presents to anyone. Withdrawals and smack sickness is scary to even witness, completely altering the person it grips. People often note how jimmy was an asshole, especially in the late 70s, but when dealing with a heroin addiction, with what is basically an eating disorder, high anxiety, with the goal of living your music, the goal of pleasing the crowd, getting the job done, and most of all, surviving, the way you act isn't at the front of your mind. I'm sure Page was aware he was an asshole, but with what he was dealing with, it's not important. Instant gratification, reward, matters more. Not dying matters more. Getting the next hit matters more. His image mattered more.

No matter how much of an asshole he was, and some of the reprehensible things he'd committed earlier on, I wouldn't wish this upon anyone. You see the light leave his eyes as the years went on, you know that while he recovered, those were the darkest years of his life that we know, and there's a reason he'd rarely talk about it: Who would want to?

I've heard multiple people say that if we hadn't lost Bonham in '80, then within those few years, we would've lost Page. It's a wonder he was able to still go on in the early 80s.

Even comparing photos of him in 73, 75, and 77, you go from a "safer" underweight, to his ribs completely visible.

I'm glad we still have him around. This whole topic is not easy to go by, and while most anti drug campaigns don't sway me much, it's the slow / fast decent into all of this that gives me such a strong reaction.

I don't appreciate seeing the way it's so casually joked about amongst the online zeppelin areas. People do take it seriously, but there's always the insensitive ones.

(Adding on, since I accidentally posted this as a draft)

Many people blame page for the effects of his addiction: Sloppy guitar playing, distancing from the rest of the band, assholery behavior.

You can't fault an addict for falling addicted. You can fault them for starting it, maybe, and you can criticize them for all you want. Still, a heroin addiction isn't just as cigarettes. It's the easiest to fall addicted to, and one of the hardest to quit, especially when a physical dependency is grown. Withdrawal symptoms could start early, and extreme too. Most heroin addicts trying to quit will relapse within the first day or two, it's not easy as that.

Considering how unhelpful the help was at the time, quitting cold turkey at these points would probably worsen his condition for a while, considering how rail thin Jimmy had been. The people around him grew worried, grew mad, and I find myself wondering how he could still pick up the guitar and rail out the LA Forum 1977 show, producing banger shows through 77, yet the shoddiest shows as well.

There could be little done about treatment of eating disorders as well, due to medical knowledge and stigma around it. I'll sympathize with this part, having the experience of one: ED recovery on your own is rough. I don't know how jimmy got out of heroin and an ED, and I don't think the process of that should become business unless necessary.

If you find yourself falling into these vices, seek help. Nothing about this is normal: not the lifestyle, nor the pressures.

Jimmy's case will always haunt me. I'd wish this upon no one.

Itoshi Sae, Physical Contact, and the Exceptions: Rin and Shidou

As of Chapter Ch 214, the only two people we see Sae allow to touch him are his little brother…and Shidou Ryusei.** Post (S)pain, it’s only been Shidou.

**I’m going to argue that Sae allows Shidou to jump on his back. And I mean 'argue' in the lightest sense.

Quick preface: Just organizing and posting notes I took on the subject for characterization in a fic (they are, therefore, biased). I’m not claiming that no one has ever touched Sae, just that the manga only shows a select few occasions. We’ll go in chapter and not chronological order. For the most part.

The first time the manga shows us anyone trying to initiate contact with Sae is with these two clowns (JFU President and U-20 “coach”) in Ch 107. Hardly surprising that Sae wouldn’t shake the hands of people he so clearly doesn’t respect.

Every expression in this panel is priceless.

Next up, Ch 111:

Aiku and his proposal are plainly of more interest to Sae than the JFU bozos, yet Sae nopes right out of Aiku’s ‘gentlemen's agreement’ handshake. And then threatens to nope out of the whole match if the U-20 Team can’t meet his standards.

We see Sae being rushed by celebratory teammates several times. Not once do we readers see any of them actually succeed in throwing an arm around him pre-Spain, in Spain, or post-Spain. Until Shidou.

Post Spain (Ch 116):

Sae has just scored a goal crazy enough to have Isagi think, “The leading actor in this game is Itoshi Sae!!” The crowd is going wild, the U-20 Team is rushing Sae in joy, …and Sae literally slaps them off: “Hands off, chumps.”

Poor Fox Kid and Not-Bokuto. They seem so darn sweet.

Now, a blast from the past.

Pre-Spain (Ch 123):

I don’t know about y’all, but I can so clearly see Little Sae ducking right out these guys’ arms—in a more humorously standoffish way. Like how we see Rin sidestep Isagi (coming right up!). An imagination is all we got here.

Spain (Ch 125):

Now in the mysterious (S)pain… Hopefully we’ll get more than a glimpse of it one day! Would Sae have dodged the Real Madrid Youth Team guys? Would he have numbly endured it? Would he have slapped them off? Etc.? The manga, again, leaves us to wonder. (My money’s on the second one.)

Once again, I’m definitely not saying Sae’s teammates have never succeeded in tackling him in celebration. Just that it’s notable we, the readers, don’t see it. Yet.

I’ll conclude with some pre-Spain Itoshi Bros cuteness, but let’s talk some post-Spain Itoshi Bros parallels first.

Ch 121

Poor Isagi. 😂 Rin sees him coming with a little “!” and dodges his charge like the plague with a grumpy lil “Hmph.”

Rin, now away from Isagi, goes right back to business in the next panel.

Ten chapters later, we have a Sae parallel.

Ch 131

Just like Rin, Sae sees a celebratory missile coming right at him with a “!” and a less than enthusiastic expression—yet Sae doesn’t dodge Shidou.

Shidou definitely takes off like a bat out of hell (ha). But do we really think Itoshi Sae of the New Generation World XI couldn’t have even sidestepped—like his little brother—if he’d really wanted to?

I think Sae allows Shidou his moment of clingy celebration. Especially in light of the Rin and Isagi parallel. Remember, this was immediately following Shidou’s unbelievable Big Bang Drive—a goal that had even Sae showing open surprise on his face (Ch 130). Shidou becomes the first one shown to have jumped on Sae in celebration.

(Real talk, though: someone please give Kitsunezato and Neru a high five!)

The next page…

Both pursuers of the Itoshi Bros end up with a hard impact on the ground, and yet….

Sae doesn’t tell Shidou to f— off after throwing Shidou off him. Shidou doesn’t get an icy “Hands off, chump” like Fox Kid and Not-Bokuto. Sae doesn’t stalk off (he actually lingers and seems to chat while Shidou just chills on the ground and gives him a lil thumbs-up). Sae tells Shidou, “You have to get a hat trick, remember? Then you’d get my number. Hands off until then, you horny demon.” Untillll being the operative word (...one of them, anyway 😅). Not only does Sae let Shidou latch on, Sae banters with Shidou.

This is outside the point of this post, but Sae looks…sad? nostalgic? when Shidou first jumps on him. It doesn’t last long, but it’s there. Perhaps relating to the panels I’m about to bring up. (Addressing what may have prompted Sae’s “Gross” and “horny demon” reactions + his punch/tackle is also outside the purview of this post 😅 Same with speculating on what the helllll these two were talking about below.)

Concluding with some Pre-(S)pain Itoshi Bros

Ch 123:

We see Little RinRin as the original No Touchy exception. And it’s so wholesome.

And Sae actually reaching out to Rin and being affectionate. Maybe we’ll see it again one day.

Ch 124

Look, the Itoshi Bros are capable of high fives! Or, they were, anyway.

Unlike Sae, we actually see Rin's teammates grabbing him in celebration, pre-(Sae’s return from) Spain.

In conclusion...

So far, the manga shows Sae breaking his general Kuzco Rule with only two people.

Pre-Spain, Little Rin was a very obvious exception. Post-Spain / currently and more subtly, Shidou is the only exception we've seen. Is it a respect thing? A soft spot? Emphasizing Sae is an "untouchable" player? Some combination?

As for canon… I really hope we see Sae and Shidou become friends. They’re both so alone but seem to bring each other to life. I also really hope we’ll see Sae accepting his teammates’ celebration one day. Just imagine Sae pulling off a crazy pass or stealing a goal at the World Cup, both Rin and Shidou rushing him in joy, the rest of the team on their tails! Or maybe something smaller, like just celebrating a cool move in practice. I think we’ll see it eventually. Just like I think we could see Shidou act as a bridge between the estranged Itoshi Bros.
