angst vor der nächsten periode, regelschmerzen bis zur ohnmacht, darmschmerzen, blasenschmerzen, kopfschmerzen, schmerzen beim geschlechtsverkehr, depressive verstimmungen. und eine so tiefe müdigkeit – von den schmerzen und den verletzenden worten anderer, die es sicherlich einfach nicht anders wussten. „du bist so empfindlich. stell dich doch nicht so an. regelschmerzen sind ganz normal.“ – nein, das sind sie nicht.

ich werde im april 22 jahre alt. die diagnose endometriose habe ich erst ende november 2020 nach einer von mir selbst eingeforderten bauchspiegelung erhalten. in den jahren zuvor wurde ich von ärzt*innen mit meinen beschwerden schlichtweg nicht ernst genommen – zu diesem zeitpunkt hatte ich bereits seit 11 jahren sehr starke schmerzen. ich weiß gar nicht, auf wie vielen gynäkologischen untersuchungsstühlen ich bereits saß und wie oft mir kopfschüttelnd gesagt wurde, dass ich doch gesund sei und meine beschwerden „bestimmt nur psychisch“ seien.

endometriose ist eine chronische erkrankung, bei der sich gebärmutterschleimhaut-ähnliches gewebe (sogenannte endometrioseherde, zysten oder tumore) an verschiedenen bereichen im körper ansiedelt. dazu gehören unter anderem darm, blase, eileiter, eierstöcke, douglasraum, zwerchfell, in seltenen fällen sogar lunge und gehirn – an all diesen stellen kann sich endometriose ausbreiten, in organe hineinwachsen, entzündungen hervorrufen und starke schmerzen verursachen, sowie zur ungewollten kinderlosigkeit führen. die oben genannten symptome sind nur ein bruchteil dessen, was endometriose mit sich bringen kann. die krankheit ist so individuell wie die betroffenen frauen* selbst.

auch wenn die diagnose für mich einerseits große erleichterung bedeutete und endlich gewissheit mit sich brachte, so brach für mich doch eine kleine welt zusammen, als mir nach und nach bewusst wurde, welche bedeutung die krankheit für mein leben hat. ich habe viele ängste und zweifel, denke ständig über dinge nach, die vor der diagnose für mich völlig selbstverständlich waren. dennoch habe ich hoffnung in mir. was mir hilft: ich bin nicht allein. ich bin nicht nur eine von zehn, sondern auch eine von ca. 200 millionen an endometriose erkrankten frauen* weltweit.

One That’s hurtful. Two words hurt. Three. We have been trying our hardest for a baby. & suffering through secondary infertility..

You don’t understand all the hurt, all the pain, & all the tears I’ve cried... crying why me... crying because the pain is unbearable. Crying because I can’t believe this is my reality... Crying because it’s all mentally, physically, & emotionally draining.

My husband trying to be strong for the both of us. My husband holding me while I cry myself until my eyes are all red, swollen & puffy... my husband telling me everything will be okay, it’s just an obstacle that we can get through...
