#~📝~ "Just Friends" + Oscar Piastri

POV: Third Person (She/her)

It was a long race week. Singapore was not a forgiving track, and all of the drivers felt it. Even as they sat on a couch post media and debriefs. Y/n and Oscar were sitting on the couch in someone’s hotel room. Their brains were too foggy to remember exactly whose it was. It was their post-race ritual, and some drivers who decided they wanted to hang out before flying out to the next race were not going to stand in their way.

Plus they had earned it! With Y/n’s maiden podium and Oscar scoring third, they deserved to chill on the couch as they pleased. They were currently sharing the couch with Max and Charles, and Y’n was sitting mostly on Oscar’s lap. She laid her head on Oscar’s shoulder after she finished her second drink and looked around at everyone in the room.

There was a show going on in the background as everyone drank from the collection of alcohol that Lando brought in, and they were mainly gossiping about random paddock tea. She remembers someone saying they were convinced that a fan was following them to every single race.

“I’m telling you! I’ve seen them in the hotel as well!” George defended himself as he took a swig.

“I think you’re just paranoid,” Oscar laughed as he gestured for Y/n to grab him another drink. Without much hesitation, she did, so he responded with a joking, “Thank you, dear.”

“Why don’t we talk about you guys,” Lando changed the topic to the two who definitely looked like a couple. “Let’s be honest, no one believes that you two are just friends! ‘Just friends’ don’t sit on each other’s laps and call each other ‘dear’.”

“I don’t know what you want us to say-” Y/n tried to say, but the room erupted in protests.

“You are kidding me!”

“How are you both this blind?”

“There’s no way you don’t see the way he looks at you!”

“You guys have been pinning after each other since F3!”

“Woah, woah slow down,” Oscar caught everyone’s attention. It took a minute for them all to calm down, but when they did, they (Logan and Lando specifically) expected him to admit his feelings. “We never said we were just friends. If anyone asked, we would have told you that we’re engaged.”

Long distance relationships are hard, but usually long distance is counted as being in another city or another country. Not the other side of the galaxy because your partner is a an ass-kicking warrior who spends her entire time saving the universe.

"I love her y'know but-"

That was the only thing Dick heard until he zoned out on his little brothers drunken rant, Dick knew you before Jason which meant he knew that you would give your ring up the second you could if it meant you could be around Jason more.

And due to you being in space most of the time, your stuff laid around one of Jason's safe houses — the one he frequently stays at for that reason not that he'd admit it — so it's hard seeing your things around with you not being there.

Tonight you had to cancel your date that had been set up weeks prior because there was some alien that escaped some inter-galactic prison? He wasn't sure, so instead of being on a lovely date he was here drinking away his problems with his brother, but even that didn't go as planned as when they felt their phones vibrate and heard an explosion in the distance. And just like that Jason was sober.

When they arrived on scene both men were started by what they were seeing, purple skin? and what the hell was it wearing, red thats when it clicked into place this thing was a red lantern.

Oh shit that's all that Jason was thinking, along with why the hell was it here?

Obviously neither Dick nor Jason realised that this thing was coming straight at them.

You were tired and sick of following this guy around the galaxy. Normally you would've caught him by now but somewhere along the way it had picked up a Red Lanterns ring. So now the two of you were somewhat even in power.

You groaned when you heard your ring remind you that it needed recharging, before shooting forward towards Oa and the Green Lantern's base going pass the other Lantern's and landing.

"Hey kid!" you looked to the side and just your luck you were met with the grinning face of Kyle Rayner.

You sighed "Don't call me kid, we're the same age" your response only making him snort in laughter.

"I know but you're so small" you shot him a look to which he put his hands up in faux surrender. "Kyle shouldn't you be somewhere else?"

"Nah, I came back to recharge and then I'm heading back to Earth" you gave him a questioning look in return, lucky for you Kyle knew how to read your face.

"Dunno, just got told that there's a major threat or something"

"Major?!" your startled voice made those around glance at you, but you were being pulled along the man in front of you. "Well not that major, just a Red Lantern. Oh speaking of that weren't you following one?" he questioned, you just nodded in confirmation.

"You should come with, maybe this guy knows about your guy"

"Maybe" You agreed, "but first-" you didn't even finish your sentence before giving him a cheeky smile and running forward.

"Hey! That's cheating" he darted forward to catch up. You and Kyle used to be in training together, he was the one who initiated your friendship by always looking out for you and pulling you around with him so neither of you looked lonely enough for your seniors to pick on.

It didn't take long for you to realise that his intentions were good, and found yourself seeking out his company. So when you both got to be full fledged Green Lantern's the time you spent away from each was bothering the both of you, so you both found yourselves having free time away from Oa you got together on Earth more specifically Gotham city you remembered.

Kyle was dragging you around the city with his hand in your own, to people passing by the two of you it looked like an over eager boyfriend dragging you around a new city. Later into the day Kyle insisted —and barely gave you a choice— that he introduced you to his friends, an idea that you were very against but he wasn't having it "N/n you need other friends" he heard him groan, dragging you along —something that you had gotten used to over time. "You already introduced me to Dick" when he gave you a look you decided to try another method of getting out of meeting new people.

"I have you, why do I need anyone else?" you pleaded. "I love you too sweets but no amount of sweet-talking is gonna get you out of this"

So you gave up as he brought you to an apartment — a very nice one might I add. "Is this it?" your question was answered when he moved forward — pulling you with — to knock on the door. When a red haired man arms littered with tattoos opened the door you found yourself moving slightly behind Kyle, until the man grinned at the both of you and waved you in shutting the door behind you both, before looking down at where your hands where joined and sending Kyle a look — one you couldn't see — Kyle shook his head no. "Hi I'm Roy"

A few second of awkwardly standing in the doorway was interrupted when a young girl with dark hair came running through bumping into you, when you she looked up she froze scared that you would be mad, from the side side Roy and Kyle watched as you knelt down letting go of Kyle's hand, sending the girl a soft motherly smile that made her relax into a grin before standing up and pulling you along. You stumbled to your feet, almost tripping over yourself before rushing forward to follow the girl who held you hand in a firm grip — it seemed everyone liked to pull you along into places you would never find yourself. "I'm Lian!" she introduced herself still running forward but not before sending you an expecting gaze, you chuckled "and I'm Y/n" sparing Kyle and Roy a look to which both men chuckled when you turned around. "Is she single?" Roy asked but he didn't get a response from the person he asked when a gruff voice came from behind them "not if I can help it" both men screamed — not that they'd admit it.

You and Lian looked back at the two- now three men standing in the doorway, your attention was caught by the taller one standing behind them both the one with a white streak in his hair, the one with piercing green eyes, the one who noticed you staring at him and sent you a smirk that had you turning your attention back to Lian and the toys she held in front of you. When you turned, Roy looked back at Jason and sighed, waving his hand at the man and giving him a look "I saw her first" a statement that made both Jason and Kyle send him dirty looks for different reasons.

While the three men were arguing none of them noticed another red head slipping her way into the room and sitting down beside you on the floor introducing herself before starting a conversation. "A noble woman like you shouldn't be sitting on the floor" you looked to the side at your newest companion "oh? then where should I be sat?" you questioned mockingly, eyebrows raised. Your question only made the woman grin, "on my lap perhaps?" Your eyes widened but you caught yourself before smirking and shifting yourself onto her lap, now it was her turn to be shocked but she didn't protest when you settled yourself on her.

You both laughed at something Lian said when Artemis felt something hit her from behind. She looked back and saw three men glaring at her she smiled and threw up the middle finger.

Jason glared at the back of her head, huffing and leaving the doorways startling the other two who stood beside him. Neither of them had ever seen Jason Todd worked up over a woman, any woman yet here he was huffing over a woman he had barely met.

Jason should've been six feet under right now, he knew that both him and his brother would've been dead if it weren't for a blinding green light wrapping itself around the alien like-thing and pulling it into a wall. "So you're telling me that this is the guy you've been following?"

If the first familiar voice hadn't startled Jason, yours definitely did "Yes you idiot" he heard you sigh after that "I've told you already"

When Jason looked up there he saw you in all your beautiful angelic glory, but you hadn't even looked at him yet from what he could tell you were pissed. It took him a second to realise why — someone tried to hurt him, your eyes flickered over to Jason for a moment relaxing when you saw him safe.

"YOU" your voice startled everyone — except Kyle — and your eyes were on the alien guy once again, "are coming with us-"

"back to Ysmault" Kyle's cheery voice was nothing but taunting when mixed with your serious tone.

In a matter of second the Red Lantern's ring was deactivated and he was in a glowing green dome passed out, neither you or Kyle seemed to care about that while you continued your conversation. "Are you sure?"

"Sweets I already told you, go talk to him" and without giving you a chance to respond the other Green Lantern took of into the sky but not before sending Jason a wink. Only when your feet touched the ground again did Nightwing speak looking between Jason and you "uh I'm gonna just-" without finishing the sentence he leaped forward of the roof but Jason payed him no mind.

Taking a few steps towards you before slowly bringing you into his arms Jason muttered "Hey pretty" and he was struck confused when he heard you sniffle.

"I'm sorry" he tilted his head down to look at you, "why don't we go somewhere private before we talk hm?" you wrapped you arms around him and he pressed a kiss into your hair, picking you up and heading home.

When the two of you arrived home safe, Jason quickly ushered you into the shower and pulled out soft clean clothes for you, leaving them where you could find them.

When you got out of the bathroom your hair was wet and the clothes — that were too big for you so you assumed they were his — were snug around your body. You realised Jason was cooking dinner — although it was a little late. You walked up behind him and wrapped your arms tightly around his figure, he hummed acknowledging your presence before turning the stove of and setting the creamy pasta into two bowls.

With both of you finally seated at the table next to each other and dinner eaten did he finally ask you why you were sorry.

"I'm never around Jase, you deserve better than that... better than me"

"yeah but I want you don't I?" he didn't let you respond as he kept talking "I asked for you, you protect the galaxy everyday love, I can't be mad at you for that"

He brought you in for a hug, "I love you" this time the words hadn't come from him.

"Fuck babe, just stole the words right from me" you huffed in response. "What?" but the response he got from you was muffled in his neck, "come again"

"You're supposed to say it back"

"am I?" he teased, eyebrow raised "yes Jason you are"

Apparently he decided to stay silent, but when you turned your head to the side and made a move get up and leave he pulled you in even closer than before — if that was possible. "okay okay I'm sorry" pulling your face in and pressing a soft kiss to your lips "I love you pretty"

"you better" you responded and went in for another kiss.

The Bolter (part one)

Steve Rogers x f!Reader

synopsis : Steve carries out his decision to return to Peggy, aiming to live out the rest of his days with her. But this means he's leaving everything behind - he's leaving you. Did he make the right choice? Will there be anything left with you to come back to?

in this chapter : Steve is about to walk out of your life, causing you to let go of everything you two have, and everything that could be.

📝 yes, the title is inspired by Taylor Swift's upcoming song The Bolter. In my interpretation and in this story, it is meant to symbolize someone who runs from someone or something. A potential relationship. A loved one. And the choice is not easy, one that may bring a lot of remorse or catharsis? Anyhow - Steve IS a bolter. In the beginning, at least.

This is it.

This must be what true heartbreak feels like.

Steve, your best friend and the unrequited love of your life, has decided to volunteer to return the Infinity Stones to their respective timelines. Very noble of him.

But he also confessed that he plans to stay with Peggy, now that he finally has the chance.

They can have the dance that was stolen from them, decades ago.

Steve can be with his true love it seems. And that person is just not you.

Well, fuck my life.

"Doll," he smiles ruefully, both of your hands encased in his, "say something."

Say something, he says. What is there to say - I'm in love with you, I want you to stay with me? Don't leave me? I want you stay - for Bucky, for Sam, for Nat. For everyone. For me?

What can you fucking say that will ever be enough? In the 7 years that you've known Steve, you've grown to love him. As a friend, as family. Then, almost inevitably, as the only keeper of your heart. And he knows this.

But he's still leaving. Because, at the end of the day, Peggy is the keeper of his heart.

To you, Steve has always been everything good. Golden boy perfection, with a heart that would put a saint's to shame. Sunshine, laughter, companionship, standing tall and unwavering in his ideals. His gleaming red, white, and blue tendrils snaking their way into the very fibres of your being and taking root.

But now, all you feel is empty. You were angry, when he first told you, days ago. You had almost screamed at him, told him how unfair he was being. You made a long, drawn-out case for Bucky. How he doesn't deserve this. But really, you were making a case for yourself.

Stay, you had said.

He simply smiled, without any mirth. Not like his usual on-brand Steve Rogers gesture of sincerity. He smiled and it did not reach his eyes. He was sad, or maybe he pitied you. And that made you even angrier.

Until minutes later, when you finally broke down, and sobbed quietly in his arms.

"I hate you," you muttered against the creases of his shirt.

"I love you," he said back, and you hated him even more for it. He doesn't get to say that to you, in that way. Not in the same way he would say to Peggy.

Now, right before stepping onto the platform that will cause him to vanish from your life, he says it again.

"You do know that I love you, right?" His smile is genuine, if not a little nervous. He hoped you would be as accepting as Bucky, and send him off with just a rueful look. A gentle, final word. A sweet farewell that he can take with him as a reminder of all the times you spent together.

"I know," you breathe, relenting. Steve does not like that your eyes are glazed over, empty. Like you're not taking him in at all. You take notice of the resulting sag in his shoulders, out of character from the dignified stride he sported as he was saying goodbye to the others.

A big part of you wants to remain indignant. So what if he's hurt or uncomfortable due to your coldness? It serves him right.

"Come here," he whispers, and it comes across a silent plea. Come here? Will you, please?

You take just one small step closer, but he is already ahead, wrapping his arms around your frame. Your stony mask breaks as your cheek presses against his chest, away from his view. His chest plate glistens from your tears, but you don't have it in you to wipe them away.

When he pulls away to look down at you, his heart breaks. He cradles your face in his hands as you look up at him through wet eyelashes, and it's almost enough to make him consider staying.

But then you say, "It will all be okay, Steve." You gingerly pry his hands from your cheeks, giving them a comforting squeeze. "We will be okay."

You look behind you, where Bucky stands watching the exchange, and he offers an encouraging nod.

You take a step back, mustering everything that you possibly can, all the love you have for Steve, to give him one last genuine smile.

"Go get your girl."

Writing Tips:

Write a lot.

Don't worry about mistakes or editing. Just write a lot to get your ideas out. Practice makes better, and writing a lot will help you gain confidence. You don't have to post it anywhere of you don't want to!

2. Try microfics!

Microfics are a great way to practice writing certain ships, or just practice in general. They're also lovely for getting a feel of posting! They're low-pressure and low-commitment, which is lovely!

3. Find people to write with.

Whether it's people online or in person, find people to talk about writing and write with. It's very motivating and helps hold you accountable.

4. Be gentle with yourself!

This is supposed to be fun. Don't beat yourself up or be too hard on yourself.

5. Write down your ideas.

Ideas come at weird times. Write them down, because you'll forget them.

So it seems that this happened while I was out of town, and didn't notice it till I got back.

I am truly honored and excited beyond belief. I appreciate all of you who read and comment on my stories. I love it when I get tagged in all your posts. I have some of the best mutuals on this site, and I am forever grateful that you deem me worthy to grace your dash 🤭😚.

WIP Wednesday 📝

So even though yesterday’s snippet kinda flopped like a dead fish, I kept at it and ended up writing almost 1K for my buddie Fantasy AU! 🤩

I’ve been trying to work on my descriptive writing and am quite happy with how this turned out.

The sun is still sitting below the horizon, its light not yet touching the city and waking it from its slumber, when he hears a crash from down an alley. He knows it’s probably a bad idea to investigate, that a mysterious noise in a dark alley is an opening in almost every crime drama for a reason, but someone could be in trouble and Buck’s conscience won’t just let him walk on by without checking. He makes his way down the alley, his steps quick but cautious, careful not to make too much noise. If someone dangerous is lurking down here, he doesn’t want to give away his position so easily. Assuming they don’t have a visual on him already.

Buck's heart thuds in his chest as he moves further into the alleyway. The alley is shrouded in darkness, the only light coming from the streetlight on the road that is struggling to pierce through the shadows. The air is heavy with something that smells like rotten eggs, the scent so thick it makes Buck gag. He covers his nose and mouth with his hand, trying to block the pungent smell as best he can.

He reaches the end of the alleyway but finds no one, only a dumpster overflowing with construction waste and a rat that quickly scurries off into the darkness. Buck scoffs and shakes his head at himself; trust him to wander all the way down an alley because of a rat. As he turns to leave and continue his trek home, he jolts with a sudden fright. Standing at the mouth of the alley is a large dog.

“Holy fuck,” Buck exclaims, pressing a hand to his chest, his heart beating rapidly under his palm. “You scared the shit out of me buddy.”

The dog lifts it’s head as if sniffing the air and emits a low growl that has the hair on Buck’s arms and the back of his neck standing up. The dog begins to move forward, its form seeming to grow larger with each step until the once Rottweiler sized dog is now the size of a small horse, it’s shoulder easily at Buck’s hip height.

With trembling hands, Buck pulls out his phone and turns on the flashlight, casting a dull light onto the creature. Its black fur blends in with the darkness of the night and appears short in length everywhere apart from what Buck can only describe as a mane mullet along the back of its neck. It has razor- sharp claws protruding from each massive paw and its face is scarred and skeletal in appearance, its eyes blood red and glowing, pointed teeth on full display as it snarls at Buck.
