Timeline Part 3: May 2017 - June 2017

Previously: 2015 - April 2017 | Update to April 2015 - April 2017

As I mentioned before, I'll be doing these in smaller chunks because Tumblr keeps crashing when I do longer posts. In this edition, we'll look at Sussex PR from May 2017 to June 2017.

A quick note first. There isn't as many pieces from Meghan's mouthpieces during this window as there were earlier in the year. I suspect either a) Harry caught on to how much Meghan talked to the press so she scaled back to keep working him or b) the articles were handled when Meghan's team was scrubbing the internet.

This is also when we start seeing the Daily Mail start dripping hints about Meghan's dossier.

5/2/2017: Meghan gives an interview to Good Housekeeping. This is the first known "roast chicken" reference.

5/3/2017: Meghan teases that Harry uses caviar pills to cure his male pattern baldness. "He" credits Meghan's holistic wellness.

5/4/2017: Buckingham Palace announces that Prince Philip is retiring after the summer and will stand down from royal duties. Anna Wintour is made a Dame by The Queen.

5/6/2017: The BBC claims that Harry's father is actually James Hewitt.

5/6/2017 - 5/7/2017: Audi Polo Challenge 2017 at Coworth Park. Meghan attends to watch Harry play polo and she is photographed with Mark Dyer. On Day 1 (May 6th), paparazzi catch Harry and Meghan kissing in the car park. On Day 2 (May 7th), William also plays polo and allegedly has Meghan thrown out of Coworth Park for stalking. Also on May 7th, Meghan leaks that she will be attending Pippa's wedding.

5/8/2017: Meghan wears a wedding dress for a movie.

5/9/2017: It's revealed that Meghan ditched Serena William's baby shower to go to London to see Harry.

5/10/2017: Mark Dyer sells his pubs to move out of London. The article is the first confirmation that he/his pubs had hosted Harry and Meghan for dates in the early days of their relationship. Speculation begins that Dyer doesn't like Meghan at all.

5/12/2017: Risque photos from a production Meghan did in 2011 resurface.

5/16/2017: Meghan flies into London for Pippa's wedding, although it isn't reported until May 17th and it isn't confirmed until May 18th.

5/18/2017: Meghan confirms she is in London to attend Pippa's wedding.

5/19/2017: Meghan does a pap walk in leggings and shows off her bum. The photos lead to the headline "Wedding of the Rears" and a front page photo by The Sun. Eugenie gives a tone-deaf interview about her "career" and mentions that she loves "The Crown."

5/20/2017: Pippa's Wedding. Meghan is not invited to the ceremony but is allowed at the after-party. Harry leaves the wedding midday to drive 3 hours round-trip to pick Meghan up from Nottingham Cottage. Rumors begin that Meghan wasn't allowed at all to Pippa's wedding, making Meghan angry, so to keep the peace, Harry left the wedding early and picked Meghan up so they could drive past local press to pretend they were going to the wedding.

5/21/2017: Meghan is papped leaving Kensington Palace early in the morning to fly back to Toronto.

5/22/2017:

Meghan gives an interview to Glamour UK about her fashion sense and style. She gives an infamous quote about how she likes to wear monochromatic neutrals (which later bites her in the butt when she says the royals made her wear only neutrals).

The Daily Mail reveals that Meghan's legal first name is actually Rachel.

Risque photos from Meghan's 2013 film resurface.

Meghan claims she was given rooms at the hotel where Pippa's wedding breakfast was being held and that she stayed away from the service out of respect to the bride. This completely contradicts her earlier story that she had stayed at Kensington Palace and that Harry left the wedding early to collect her for the after-party.

5/24/2017:

Priyanka Chopra gives an interview in which she speaks about Meghan and hints that she and Harry are engaged, saying she hopes for an invite to the wedding.

Meghan leaks that Harry plans to take her to Lesotho.

Sentebale's financial report is published.

5/28/2017: Meghan teases that she and Harry are house-hunting in Norfolk to be near William, Kate, and the children.

5/29/2017: William's GQ issue is published, in which he gives an intervew speaking about Diana's death and new photographs of the Cambridge family (in black and white!) are released.

5/31/2017: Camilla Thurlow (of Love Island) gives an interview about having dated Harry back in 2014 when they were photographed at a nightclub together.

6/4/2017: Harry travels to Singapore for four days to play polo in a fundraiser for Sentebale. He also does AIDS awareness work. The polo game is where he meets and befriends Nacho Figueroa.

6/7/2017: Harry travels to Sydney to promote the 2018 Invictus Games, merching his Meghan bracelet. Also, Pippa and James Matthews are in Perth for their honeymoon at the same time.

6/8/2017: Andrew applies to the UK Intellectual Property Office to trademark his Pitch@Palace initiative.

6/9/2017: Meghan is just like Queen Letizia!

6/10/2017: Meghan the yoga influencer. Meghan gives an airport papwalk in Texas ahead of the ATX Festival, merching her Panama hat, The Economist, and Chanel. Patrick Adams gives an interview to ATX about Meghan's relationship and speculates Harry ought to make a cameo on Suits.

6/11/2017: US Weekly speculates that Harry and Meghan could be getting married soon.

6/14/2017: The Sun recaps Harry's past relationships. They also reveal that Meghan had been invited to the 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando. The Sun claims that Meghan accepted the invitation and attended the games, but she and Harry didn't meet.

(June 14, 2017, is also the Grenfell Tower fire.)

6/16/2017: The Daily Express speculate on what Harry and Meghan's children could like.

6/17/2017:

The royal family celebrates The Queen's Birthday Parade, Trooping the Colour. (Kate and Charlotte wear pink.)

Meghan merches a gold and diamond thumb ring that she claims is from Harry. She also claims that Harry gave her a Cartier Love Bracelet (which we know now is actually from Trevor).

E News reports that Harry flies to Toronto after Trooping festivities to visit Meghan. E News also claims that Harry will propose by the end of the year and that Meghan is preparing to move to London. They later update the article to say Harry's camp denied that he went to Toronto and instead went directly to Malawi/Africa.

6/20/2017:

William and Kate make their first Royal Ascot appearance.

Meghan puts Beatrice and Eugenie on notice that she knows they're trying to take her down.

Rumors of Meghan's attitude/behavior causing problems on the Suits set begin. She brushes it off in an interview saying the cast is upset she keeps ditching them to spend time with Harry and that it'll blow over when she introduces Harry to them.

According to unverified claims by E News, Harry leaves Toronto and flies to Malawi for conservation charity work.

Meghan's character arrives on "The Windsors."

6/21/2017: Harry's Newsweek interview to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Diana's passing, and is part of his Hero Harry PR drive. Infamous snippets:

He's in no rush to get married or propose (clapback to all of Meghan's PR trying to hustle him down the aisle).

No one wants to be king or queen.

He wanted to quit the royal family at one point.

Meghan "communed with the dinosaurs" date night at the Natural History Museum.

"Small window of when people are interested in me before George and Charlotte take over."

6/22/2017: Fleet Street criticism of Harry's Newsweek interview begins. It lasts for about a week.

6/25/2017: Sexy photos from Meghan's 2014 model shoot resurface. Meghan leaks that Harry is making her engagement ring with diamonds and emeralds from Diana's collection and that he is collaborating with the royal jeweller, Harry Collins. She also says that Harry wants to marry sooner rather than later while Philip is still around to attend. (This comes after news that Philip was hospitalized for an infection and immediately causes speculation that Philip is seriously unwell/knocking at death's door.)

6/26/2017: E News claims that Harry's discussion about modernizing the monarchy and his role in the modernized monarchy is him preparing for marriage. This immediately causes speculation amongst royal watchers that he and Meghan had fought about the monarchy's way of charitywork (versus her issues-based campaigning) and Harry's sudden discussions about how the monarchy was modernizing was his attempts to fix it.

Also on 6/26/2017, the Court Circular confirms Harry is in Malawai. It is his only Court Circular appearance between 6/17/2017 (Trooping) and 7/6/2017.

6/27/2017: Meghan flies to London. Harry merches Sandals' Grande St. Lucian resort in a promo article. He stayed at the resort during his Caribbean tour in November 2016.

6/28/2017: Meghan merches her clothes and Channel 4 announces a "Meet the Markles" reality show/docuseries about Meghan's family.

6/29/2017: Meghan merches her clothes again and again tries to be a fashion influencer by plugging the "Meghan Effect." The trailer for Suits Season 7 drops and Charles and Camilla travel to Canada for a 3-day tour.

6/30/2017: Meghan leaks that she and Harry are very private homebodies and prefer to stay at home.

7/1/2017: The Cambridges, Harry, and the Spencers attend a private memorial service at the Althorp estate for Diana. (Meghan is in Toronto filming the 100th episode of Suits, courtesy of Patrick Adams' instagram.) Meghan's relationship history is published. Charles announces plans to throw an enormous 70th birthday party for Camilla.

EFCU (Elite Force Cinematic Universe) Big Bang!

What is a big bang? It’s a fandom event where writers and artists pair up to create fan content! Put simply, writers post fic summaries and artists pick which fic they want to make art for. This specific big bang is for the EFCU, which includes Lab Rats, Mighty Med, and Elite Force.

Rules? The only “rules” are that everyone follows the schedule, fics must be at least 2k words long and posted on AO3 at the end of the event, and both fics and artwork should be posted on Tumblr as well.

And here’s a basic schedule for the event:

April 28th: Sign-ups open

May 7th: Sign-ups close

May 10th: Synopsis/outline submission form opens.  You can send in your synposis/outline if you didn’t sign up, the sign-up forms are just so I can get a rough number of how many people are interested in this event.

May 17th: Synopses/outlines close

May 18th: Artists get to pick three works they’re interested in. It’s first come, first serve, so if their first pick is taken, they get their second, and so on and so forth. Again, you can participate if you didn’t sign up.

May 22nd–28th: If there are any unchosen works left by this time, we open round 2 of artist picks, where artists can choose up to three more works (again on a first come, first serve basis). If there are works left after that, then I’ll open round 3 and artists can pick however many works they want until there are none left. These rounds would last three days each.

May 22nd–28th: Once there are no unchosen works, I’ll post the writer-artist pairs and they can get in contact with each other!

June 15th–21st: The fics and artworks are due. Participants should post them on Tumblr, tagged #efcubigbang23, and I’ll reblog them here. Fics should be posted on AO3 and I’ll add them to a collection for ease of access.

FINAL ROUND (+ Round 4 Overview)

Well...shit. We’re coming to the end already. I cannot express how grateful I am for how many people have gotten involved and gotten so passionate for my first poll tournament. Especially for this last run of polls that had triple the amount of votes last week’s round did.

I absolutely want to do another bracket of unpopular faves, especially for the people that found this blog later and couldn’t participate in early rounds, but that will have to come after we crown a winner...

Our final two are Mr. Compress and Spinner. Currently Spinner is in the lead after utterly crushing Burnin’ but we’ll just have to see if he can hold onto it for the grand prize of a certain group of tumblr users liking you more than the other guys.

Hello, hello! Here’s Part 15 of my “Gran Turismo Sport” experience playthrough!🎮🚗

• Okay, back again for another round of "Circuit Experience". And as you can see, I choose picked another batch of eight tracks. So, here's my rate chart for Part 14:

• So far, I don't have any hard rank tracks from my pick, and that's pretty good for me. 🙂👍 Although, I'm having a slight problem with "Dragon Trail - Gardens", but, thankfully, I managed to do 1 lap without a single retry. So, I gave it a Neutral rank. Also, the "Autopolis" track is new to me, which also I gave it the Neutral rank. And what's my favorite race track of the eight? Mmm... Tough choice, but I picked the "Red Bull Ring". Also, shout out to the "Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix" because I recognized this track from my old PS1 racing game; Formula 1'97. 🙂

• Finally, today's "daily workout completion" is the Ford Focus Gr. B Rally Car 🇺🇸. Mmmm... Can't wait to drive in dirt beside the Mustang Gr. B. 🙂

• Once again, much like my previous part, I have now double cars on my (digital) garage, including my starter car, the Honda Civic Type R (UK). I'm starting to get deja vu, here. 🤔 But, I digress...

Anyway, let's move on to the "GT League". 🙂🏁🏆

19th & 20th Screenshots: ↑

• My today’s GT League races are "The Passion of Dr. Wankel" (for Mazda rotary cars) & "Tourist Trophy" (for Audi TT cars). The 1st race I take on is like walking in the park (with Clean Race & Handicap Bonuses) 🚶‍♂️🌳, but the latter is when I switched to "serious" mode 🎮😠. On the 2nd race of "Tourist Trophy" (Dragon Trail - Seaside reversed), I was struggling to reach the leader pole, and my qualified car's horsepower didn't have the strength to chase. 🙁 So, I have to quit the race & tweak the HP settings just a little pinch before I go for another race. 🔧⚙️🚘 However, I ended up in 2nd place 🥈, so I have to tweak more & race again. So yeah, I finally beat the race by tuning my qualified car.

• However, for my 3rd race (Nürburgring Nordschleife) of the aforementioned "Tourist Trophy" I decided not to used this car, and this is the moment where I purchased my first car in GT Sport.

• I went to the Audi dealership in the Europe section of "Brand Central" to buy the Audi TTS Coupe '14 as my achievement trophy for "My First Car". Pretty neat! 😊🏆After that, I'm ready to continue my Tourist Trophy race! Overall, I'm wiping 'em all with a "Clean Race Bonus" 🧹🏁🏎️, including one "Handicap Bonus" from using the other car before. ⬆️🏎️ Plus, I nailed the Nürburgring Nordschleife's (Race 3) "Green Hell" long course without bumps, bruises, or out the tight track! 😃

• Here are the ff. cars I used (with selected locations):

For the "The Passion of Dr. Wankel" race: ○ Mazda RX500 '70 🇯🇵 (location: Underground Discharge Channel - Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan 🇯🇵)

For the "Tourist Trophy" race: ○ Audi TTS Coupe '14 & Audi TT Coupé 3.2 Quattro '03 🇩🇪 (location: Konzerthaus Berlin, Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪)

• The so-called ✌️"other car"✌️ that I refer to was the Audi TT Coupé 3.2 Quattro '03. It put out of the fight at the Northern Isle Speedway (where I claimed the "Handicap Bonus") & the Dragon Trail - Seaside II (reversed), but sometimes, speed wasn't enough against the TTS Coupe. But hey, big props for the 1st gen TT coupe though! 😊👍

24th to 26th Screenshot(s) + Overall: ↑

• I made huge progress in GT Sport, with eight tracks covered in gold in the "Circuit Experience" 🛣️🥇, and an intense race 🚘🏁🚘 at the "Tourist Trophy" in the "GT League's" amateur league. More importantly, I got 91% of my campaign. As only (last) eight courses left in the "Circuit Experience", hoping I could take out these, in the coming weeks. And once I'm done, I'm onto the "Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge" (after purchasing it using my PSN wallet).😁

One DnD playtest Sept 2022 Classes

So Wizards have published new playtest material for the next iteration of DnD. Lets have a look at whats change, whats new, and whats out. Focus on Expert class group (Bard, Rogue, and Ranger [Artificer will also count but its outside the scope of PHB]) Key notes: All Expert classes gain Expertise twice during progression, Subclasses now give additional ability at 10th level. Capstone abilities are gained at 18th level. ASI/Feat progression remains the same. Class feature changes Bard Bardic Inspiration Same dice progression, Uses are now equal to proficiency bonus (PB) per long rest. Uses reaction to activate for two effects, You need to be able to see or hear the target. Boost d20 test - When another creature fails a d20 test within 60ft, add Bardic Inspiration die to the result. Heal - When a creature within 60ft takes damage, roll a Bardic Inspiration die and heal them that much. Spellcasting Spell slot progression remains the same. Now a prepared caster but have access to all Arcane spells from the Divination, Enchantment, Illusion, and Transmutation schools. Jack of All Trades moved to 5th level ability. Expertise Now gained at 2nd and again at 9th Song of Rest Replaced Song of Restoration Starting at 2nd level you gain permanent bonus prepared spells. 2nd - Healing Word 4th - Lesser Restoration 6th - Mass Healing Word 8th - Freedom of Movement 10th - Greater Restoration Font of Bardic Inspiration Moved to 7th level ability Countercharm Removed. Magical Secrets Moved to 11th level. Functionally the same, except you can change the two spells after each long rest. Prepared as per normal. Superior Bardic Inspiration Moved to 18th level. Regain 2 expended Bardic Inspiration uses each time you roll Initiative. Epic Boon at 20th level gain a Epic Boon feat. Right so, here we have our (usually horny) bard. Quite a few abilities got shuffled round. -Spellcasting. No longer a spontaneous caster but a prepared caster. However this new found freedom does have a limit. Bards can only prepare spells from 4 schools, aside from their Song of Restoration and Magical Secrets bonus spells. Thematic but is it worth it? This tread does make me concerned about the Mage classes. -The loss of Countercharm in the core kit is a rough blow. -Song of Rest/Restoration, not sure how I feel about this one. A niche use during short rests compared to permanent access to some healing spells that they now couldn't get access to outside of Magical Secrets. -Magical Secrets. Bards are no longer locked into their choices here which gives them a lot more freedom with spells. -Superior Bardic Inspiration. In line with all capstone abilties being shifted down two levels, which may have meant a nerf to its power however it got a buff instead. Now instead of gaining 1 Bardic Inspiration uses if you had none when you rolled Initiative, you are getting 2 back regardless. This is a great change. More accessible and feels better for having it. Overall I think Bards will maintain being a flexible pick acting as support or healing as needed especially with Magical Secrets being a lot more flexible.

Rogue Expertise Still gained at 1st. Two more choices at 7th Sneak Attack No changes Thieves' Cant Same as before but now gives one more language known. Cunning Action No change Uncanny Dodge No change Evasion Now a 9th level ability, Doesn't work if you are incapacitated. Reliable Talent No change Subtle Strikes New Gain Advantage on attacks against a creature within 5ft of an ally that isn't Incapacitated. Blindsense Removed Slippery Mind Now grants proficiency in CHA saves as well as WIS Stroke of Luck 18th level. Now applies to any d20 test. Regain on Short or Long rest. Epic Boon see above Note Rogue subclass features are now gained at 3rd 10th and 14th levels. Rogue has managed to come through relatively unscathed compared to Bard and Ranger. Not many of their abilities have changed, although the loss Blindsight is a big downside. New Subtle Strikes is actually very powerful ability for a Rogue. As it means that will you will always get your Sneak Attack against a foe within 5ft of an ally since it will cancel out any disadvantage. Slippery Mind got a nice buff, making a Rogue proficient all three mental saving throws. Stroke of Luck. Like the Bard capstone, this got ab uff in that you now can use it on Saving Throws as Attack Rolls and Ability Checks.

Ranger Note Almost a complete rework here. Just going to list the abilities rather than explain changes only. 1st - Expertise (second set at 9th) Favored Enemy Always have Hunter's Mark prepared as a bonus spell, Does not require concentration, lasts full duration (unless you end with BA or you are Incapacitated) Spellcasting Primal caster, any school except Evocation. 2nd - Fighting Style gain Fighting Style feat, limited to Archery, Defence, and Two-Weapon Fighting. 5th - Extra Attack (1) One extra attack during Attack action 7th - Roving Speed increases by 10ft while not wearing Heavy Armour. Gain Climb Speed and Swim Speed equal to Speed. 11th - Tireless - Gain Temp HP equal to 1d8+PB after every Short or Long rest. - Decrease Exhustion by 1 level after a Short rest 13th - Nature's Veil Use Bonus Action and a spell slot to become Invisible until the end of your next turn. 15th - Feral Senses gain 30ft Blindsight 18th - Foe Slayer Hunter's Mark now deals +d10 instead of +d6 20th - Epic Boon Gain a Epic Boon feat

Alright so we have Ranger v15 for 5e (just joking about the version part, but it feels like every 6 months Wizards tries to do something about making them better). Overall this version really feels like they have leapt away from the outdoorsy, hide in the woods for years theme to more of a inexhaustible single target hunter that doesn't care about the environment so much. -These changes meld the optional features from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything into the core kit. With Canny being reduced to Expertise (Don't get the extra two languages) -Favored Enemy presented here actually comes from a UA testing options for TCE. However it does lose a lot of the flavor and utility from the 2014 ranger (This is a reoccurring theme). -Spellcasting. Similar to the changes in Bard's spellcasting. Full access to all Primal spells except any Evocation. -Fighting Styles. Almost the same as 2014 except they lost access to the Defence style, probably not a great loss there. They wont lose access to the TCE styles since TCE will remain a legal resource until it gets updated to the new edition. -Natural Explorer, Primeval Awareness, Land stride, and Vanish. All are gone. Hide in Plain sight is replaced with the Nature's Veil from the UA. -Roving. This is an upgraded version of the one introduced in the UA. Larger speed increase and extra movement options makes this much better. -Tireless. Reworked from the UA. Doesn't use an action but only get it after resting and is scales with PB rather than WIS. Still not a bad ability. -Nature's Veil. Another reworked UA ability. This time requires expending a spell slot rather than coming with its own set of uses. -Feral Senses. Picked up 3 levels earlier, with the wording being cleared up to just be Blindsight (which is slightly better than previous version) -Foe Slayer. Improves the damage bonus from Hunter's Mark to d10. So this one is an interesting change. While you have Hunter's Mark up with 2 attacks this adds about the same amount of damage as before, but if you are dual wielding (see changes to Light weapons in the Glossary run down) then it increases the damage by nearly 50%. However this is dependent on Hunter's Mark being active on your target. So bit of a mixed blessing here. A lot of changes here with a lot scope for subclasses to bring back the focus on Nature themes, especially now that all subclasses get one more feature. On the flip side there is now more room to explore other hunter themes like bounty hunters or military scouts.

Randall came up with 100% of correct questions, Cris came up with 91.18% of correct questions, and Jeannette came up with 77.78% of correct questions. Going into Final Jeopardy!, Cris had $28,800, Randall had $12,600, and Jeannette had $3,600. The category was FLAGS OF OUR HEMISPHERE, and the clue was, “The stars on this country's flag represent states, 26 of them; unlike the USA's, its "federal district" gets its own 27th star”. Jeanette came up with, “What is Brazil?”, which is correct and bet $3,000, which took her to $6,600. Follow The Rippingtons on their social media: Twitter. Finally making their way back to their seats, they were able to let the mellow sounds of the band take over and thoroughly enjoy. The crowd took the opportunity to refresh, fill up on libations and food as well as to check out the meet and greet tent. With the sun finally setting and the temperature dropping this interlude came at just the right time. The crowd had been up dancing and singing along to covers and well known hits…now it’s time for them to sit back and relax a bit. You open up with a hometown guy who will get the crowd warmed up really well, and move on to some nice mellow neo soul sounds from an amazing duo/couple, and follow that up with what I’ll call a smooth interlude by The Rippingtons. I think the order of this festival was strategic. And let’s not forget to follow them on social media: Aja, Fatin, or Kidred Shows. You can catch rebroadcasts all summer long on their FB Page, Kindred The Family Soul Fan Page. While on this break, they will be working on their 7th album and come back in the fall with this amazing format. They gave it a hell of a run … 18 months and never missed a beat. The last show was on June 18th, ending with episode 44. Recently, Kindred announced that the webseries is temporarily coming to and end. With my mom and son with me, it was indeed a night for the books. As you can imagine, radio play, videos and such are nothing compared to LIVE. As soon as I saw Dianne Reeves, I knew that I was going to make that show…and do I did. I had to see at least one of these episodes live, so when we planned a trip to Jersey, I checked the calendar to see who was playing. And if you didn’t, well it was a webseries and you could catch it live or on rebroadcast. If you live in or near Philly, this was primetime on Monday nights. For this round they concentrated on intimate conversations and performances by other artists singers, emcees, actors and cultural icons.

Yea, that’s what I see when I watch them perform.ĭid you know that the duo created their own showcase, Kindred Presents? That’s right, in March 2017, Fatin and Aja more or less picked up where they left off with a web series that ended in 2011. You root for them and their music because you know its coming from a place of purity. You know that iconic couple who’s harmonies fit together like a glove and when you watch them perform, you can almost reach out and touch the love you see. Kindred, for me, is right up there with Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. Since that show, if they are performing anywhere I can drive, I’m there.

I vividly remember when I posted the images to my IG account, Fatin, KindredTheFam saying that the images made them look like they had put on a full fledged show. I was able to catch some pretty good images of the husband and wife duo. I’ve been following Kindred since the first time I had the chance to catch them live back in August 2016 it was opening night for Club 44. You can find out more about “Showcase” on his social media Twitter and Instagram. When it’s time for you to come inland, you will know. More busy with his own work than he is with his other gig, touring and performing with Anthony Hamilton but I told him something to the effect of, this is your time… ride that wave and enjoy it. Darnell is super busy right now and mostly with his own project, to which I congratulated him on. We exchanged some pleasantries and I was able to get some info from him, in what now seems like an off the cuff interview go figure. Once he responded, I made my way over to where he was. After his set, I saw him chatting with some fans and I threw my hand up giving the proverbial wave of acknowledgement. So when I run into Darnell, it’s easy to strike up a conversation and play catch up… just as we did on Saturday. What I am certain about is it is based in music and probably through a live music event. I was trying to think how and when I met Darnell, but I can’t seem to recall the exact moment.

Personal March Garden Schedule : )

To do list based off of information with the Farmer’s Almanac (incomplete, simply for reminders):  2nd: Plant above ground crops, no flowers, no root veggies. Use plastic wrap and tins to start seeds, buy seeds for planting, scope out live plants. 

3rd- 5th: Finish taking doen the shed (incomplete), look at ways to fashion sheet metal into above ground planters, duck clean up, compost set up (incomplete) 

 6th- 2nd round of above ground crop seed starting, record the outcome for the first batch (complete), trash clean up (incomplete). 

7th - 10th: Dump, deep clean, and refill duck ponds (refilled daily, deep cleaned occasionally), retrieve chicken wire, finish moving found tractor tires out of the tree line. General maintenence, hang lights on the porch. 11th - 12th: 3rd round of above ground seeding (last days), plant seed beds (trial, pick a few packets), plant flowers (trial, some in ground, some in kiddie pool, some in containers). Wild flowers, chamomile and chives reccomended.

13th - 17th: Gather materials for the potatoes (buckets, chicken wire, ties), cont. gen. maintenence. Till the lot, look at designs for a temporary greenhouse. (upcycled sheet metal, recycled wood, clear painter's plastic tarp). 

18th - 21st: Plant root crop seeds, transplant young plants into garden (20th and 21st only), last days for seed beds (20th and 21st only). Check compost pile. 

 22nd -23rd: Prep for more root crops, collect barrel/buckets and dig to submurge the bottoms at least an inch into the surrounding soil. Check if the lawn needs to be mowed, move daffodils (dad/siblings will kill with the lawn mower). 

 24th - 25th: Plant onions and potatoes, check other plants for progress, complete a log.

26th - 28th: Harvest time (if any is needed), weed once every few days, check for complications. 

29th - 30th: Plant remaining root crop seeds, transplant baby plants, trees (need to be aquired), blue berry bushes, and misc. Check compost. 

31st: Check for harvest, weed around plants, check if the yard needs to be mowed. Dry grass on the tarp for duck bedding.

THE  CHILLING ADVENTURES OF ZELDA CHAPTER 14-A SPELLMAN FAMILY SOLSTICE

 Faustus and Zelda had a long recovery in front of them.  Faustus had only awakened 1 hour before his wife so they were healing at the same time. They both were assigned to complete bed rest for the next 3 weeks. In that time, they rested, snuggled together, and watched the defeat of Blackwood video numerous times. They both agreed that there was no foolproof way to get rid of Blackwood forever; they had to just keep their guard up and hope for the best. Zelda also told Faustus how Lilith had reclaimed hell for herself and found happiness with a new Adam. After the 3 weeks of bed rest, Faustus and Zelda were up and around and just in time to help celebrate Sabrina’s 18th birthday. (Since this was Sabrina’s last year at home before college, new rules were set. Thursday nights were family dinner night, absolutely no excuses for not attending, and Sunday was family movie night.)

Later that week, Faustus and Zelda managed to find some time to sit down with just the twins to have a serious talk about the adoption. Zelda explained that this adoption was less about guardianship, as the twins were almost 17, but more of a show of commitment to be their mother. Zelda nodded with understanding when they told her that they wanted time to think about it. Yet, there was 1 issue that the male twin didn’t need to think about at all. Just like his sister, Judas wanted to forget about his life with Blackwood. Soon enough, he confessed that he hated the name of Judas, so with his parents’ full support, changed his name to Jacob.  It wasn’t long at all until he was used to the family calling him Jake. 3 days later, Faustus took Zelda for a romantic dinner in the fanciest restaurant in town. As they clinked their wine glasses together, Faustus explained that it was the 1st anniversary of him being free from the curse. Hearing this, Zelda re-clinked the glasses.

“To the first of many, many years,” She smiled.

They went home, and make wild, passionate love before drifting off in each other’s arms. Late that night, Zelda turned around and found herself alone in bed. She caught Faustus at the entrance of the attic, which Ambrose and Jake now shared.

“I still can’t believe we’re all home now,” Faustus whispered as his wife linked her arm with his. With a kiss, Zelda led him back to their room, where they made love for the 2nd time that night.

  Their 1st solstice all together as a family was a very special one. LJ and Jake were both all smiles as together, they handed Zelda a gift. After wrapping it, Zelda gasped, for the box was filled with papers, but not just any papers. On top were the half-filled adoption papers and beneath that, were papers for legal name changes. The twins explained that not only did they want to be adopted but they were also ready to become Spellmans. All the family couldn’t agree fast enough. Zelda did a pretty good job of blinking back her tears of joy, or she did, right up until the twins called her ‘mom’ for the very 1st time. This happened right after Zelda gave LJ and Jake their Yule present. A thick photo album filled with pictures of their birth mother, Constance, at every stage of life so the twins could look at it whenever they wished.

In the new year, after Hilda and Dr. C celebrated their 1st anniversary and Zelda filed the paperwork for the twins’ adoption and name changes, plans went full steam ahead for LJ and Jake’s joint dark baptism. Jake kept it simple, by picking Jacob Faustus for his baptismal name. LJ’s was longer. LJ explained that her name was to be Letitia Judith Constance Zelda.

“To honor both my mothers.” LJ smiled and Zelda kissed the girl on the head, blinking back happy tears once more.

The baptism, attended by family and coven alike, went off without a hitch. For the next few months, the Spellmans’ lives were blissfully quiet and uneventful. Their lives revolved around work, school, and most importantly, each other. On April 2nd, the whole family gathered to celebrate Cordelia’s first birthday. They threw a party, of course, with cake and gifts but it was Faustus and Zelda who got the best present that day. It was later that night after they readied Cordelia for bed, they sat Cordelia down in front of her crib as they did for the last 3 weeks. It was normal when Cordelia pulled herself up to the crib with her tiny hands but then something new happened. Cordelia took her hands off the crib and took her 1st few unsteady steps towards Zelda. She playfully touched her mother’s cheek before saying her 1st word loud and clear. “Mommy!” After kissing her daughter silly, Zelda turned Cordelia around so she could walk to Faustus. The baby took 3 steps before she stumbled on the 4th and would have fallen but Faustus managed to catch her. He was rewarded with a giant smile. “Daddy!”

 Spring and summer flew by and before anyone knew it, it was September again. Everyone came out to see Sabrina and LJ, who graduated a year early, off to college. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, and months to years. When she was 3 and big enough for a big girl bed, Cordelia was given Sabrina’s room by her still at college cousin. The following year, Hilda, Faustus, and Sabrina convinced an uneasy Zelda to allow Cordelia to attend mortal kindergarten, just like Sabrina before her. Cordelia’s parents sat her down and explained to her not to talk about witches or use magic at school. They also kept their promise to the witch’s council, to keep them updated on Cordelia’s magical development. Yet, there was little to report. The baby who cried the devil out of the house was growing up as normally as any other little witch, except for a slammed door or a few floating items. Her powers were at their strongest when her emotions were at their peak.  One afternoon, Cordelia wanted to play outside but Hilda explained she couldn’t because it was raining, hard.

“I don’t want it to rain!” As soon as Cordelia stamped her foot, the sun came out. Hilda stared wordlessly, yet Cordelia didn’t even seem to notice. It was on the 1st day of school that Cordelia met Erin, Emily, and Erica Warner, mortal triplet girls who quickly became her BFFs. Meanwhile, with his youngest now in school, Faustus was feeling a little lost.  Ambrose and Jake formed the perfect team to run the funeral home together and the rest of the family were busy with their own thing. 1 night, Zelda suggested her husband should return to teaching. Zelda knew she got through to him and was waiting for Faustus to ask her to return to the academy. So, she was shocked when he told her he gotten a job at Greendale middle school, teaching 7th grade. Theo Putnam was also a new teacher.

 It was a cold night in the late December of Cordelia’s sixth year that the child awoke with a start.

“Who’s there?” She demanded with the greatest demand she could mutter as she sat up and looked around the darkened room. She looked around and saw nothing, yet she felt someone was nearby. Cordelia sighed, this wasn’t a new feeling. She pulled back her blankets and got up. Might as well go to the bathroom while I’m awake. She thought.

“Hey, Salem.” Cordelia petted Sabrina’s familiar on her way back to bed. Then she picked up her favorite doll, tucked it under her arm, sighed as she laid down, and closed her eyes.

 The next thing she knew, sunlight tickled at Cordelia’s eyelids. 1 quick look at the clock and she jolted out of bed and down the hallway. Her own school had let out for Christmas yesterday, but the academy was a year-round boarding school that demanded much of its headmistress. Cordelia felt that she spent less than 10 minutes with her mother all week. Maybe it was still early enough to catch her. She stopped short in her parents’ doorway. Not only was no one in here, but the bed was made and everything was neat, suggesting that both her parents left long ago.

“It's not even 9 yet! Well, so much for that idea.” Cordelia muttered as she headed for the steps. Downstairs, Cordelia found her brother fluttering back and forth before the front door as if he was preparing to go out. “Where’re you going, Jake?” she asked from the stairway.

Jake looked up, pausing as he put on his coat. “Good morning, Cordy. Mom just called, she needs someone to fill in for her with the choir ASAP.”

“Mom’s already at the school?”

Unfortunately, Jake was too busy to notice the sadness in his sister’s tone. “Yeah. Bye.”

Cordelia was left to frown at the closed door when the wonderful smells finally reached her nose. Those smells only appeared when someone special visited. Now wearing a tiny smile, the 6-year-old ran into the kitchen and hugged the visitor from behind. “Hi, auntie H!”

Hilda, who was baking, half-turned and gave her niece a 1 arm hug. “Hello, darling.”

From his stool 3 feet away, Ambrose waved. “Hello, cousin.”

“Hello, another Spellman who no longer lives here.” Cordelia teased good-naturedly and Ambrose laughed. He and Prudence had only moved into a small apartment together downtown 3 months ago.

Meanwhile, Hilda wiped her hands on a towel. “It’s cereal alright for breakfast?”

Cordelia smiled and nodded. “Yes, please.”

“So, Cordy, how did you sleep?” Asked Ambrose.

“Good! For the most part.”

Ambrose and Hilda exchanged a look. “For the most part?” repeated her aunt.

“Ghostbusting again, cuz?”

Cordelia gave Ambrose an annoyed sideways glance. “No, Ambrose. Ghostbusting would imply that I actually see the spirit.”

Ambrose was now confused. “Wait, you don’t see the ghosts? Ever? But you had this problem for a while.”

“Since before feasts of feasts as I recall,” Hilda added.

“I don’t understand. If you can’t see them, how do you know they’re ghosts?”

Cordelia shrugged. “I don’t know. I just know, it’s just a feeling. Most girls my age are scared of ghosts; I just want them to make up their minds! They should show themselves, tell me what the problem is so I can help or just let me be so I can sleep at night.”

Hilda and Ambrose both had nothing to say so they just stared at the girl. Cordelia sighed, what was needed now was a change of subject and she found it on the serving tray. “Who pops popcorn this early in the morning?”

Ambrose sprang to life. “Oh, I almost forgot!  I was supposed to bring out the cranberries and popcorn to Dr. C and Uncle Faustus. They finally setting up the Yule tree!” Ambrose grabbed the tray and rushed out of the kitchen.

“Well, I got to go too,” Cordelia announced.

“Why?” Asked Hilda.

“Because my bowl of cereal was on that tray!”

Hilda laughed, shook her head, and returned to her baking.

 “I swear, we get this tree up later and later every year.” Faustus sighed.

“Well, we’re busy men,” Dr. C assured him. “Me at my bookstore, you at the middle school. Here comes Ambrose, at last.”

Faustus smiled as the younger warlock rushed in. “We were beginning to think you’d forgotten us.”

“I’m so sorry that it took me so long,” Ambrose said.  “Aunt Hilda and I got to talking and then Cordelia walked in.”

“Oh? Cordy’s up?”

“I sure am!” The child was right on Ambrose’s heels. She was closer to Dr. C so she greeted him first. “Hi, Uncle C” She hugged him and then went over to her father. “Hi, Daddy” she giggled when Faustus kissed the cheek of his youngest child. The 2 men went back to trying to steady the tree, as Ambrose found a chair and began to thread the popcorn and cranberry strings together. After reclaiming her breakfast, at last, Cordelia sat on the sofa and asked about the only thing on her mind.

“How long ago did Mom leave for the academy this morning?”

“About an hour and a half to 2 hours ago” Faustus answered casually. “Why? Do you need her?”

Cordelia frowned. “No, I don’t need her per say, but I do miss her. It’s like I barely have seen her this week.”

“Don’t worry, baby,” Faustus soothed his daughter. “While it’s true that Solstice demands more of the high priestess’s time than normal, all she has to do is get through today and perform tomorrow’s midnight mass then Zelda will be free to spend the rest of the holidays with us.”

“Don’t forget when we go get the girls tomorrow.” Dr. C added. “Zelda would never miss that.”

Although both LJ and Sabrina left for college 6 years ago, the girls were still away for their education but for different reasons. Unlike Jake, who left a year after his sister and cousin and return 2 years later, business degree in hand. Poor Sabrina was having a tough time, having changed her major 3 times. On the flip side, LJ had not only completed university in record time but was enrolled in 2 different medical schools. When done, LJ would not only be 1 of the few female witch doctors, she would also be the 1st witch doctor trained in mortal medicine. With a sister on her way to glory and her mother already in the history books as the 1st high priestess, Cordelia was extremely proud of her family and sometimes wondered if greatness lay in her future as well.  Having finished her breakfast, Cordelia now lay the now-empty bowl on the coffee table and went to the old cardboard box that held the tree decorations.  After a few seconds of digging around, Cordelia was able to her favorite one. It was a diamond full moon on 1 side and the other side was a picture frame. The picture itself was taken on her 1st solstice. It was of Zelda, Faustus, and Cordelia herself, when she was still just a baby. While Cordelia stood admiring the photo, Dr. C lost his balance on the step stool and bump into the girl, causing her to lose her grip on the glass moon and it smashed on the floor.

Dr. C rushed to the child’s side. “Oh Cordelia, I’m so sorry!” He hugged her.

Cordelia put on a brave face. “It’s okay, uncle C. We have lots of others.”

As they spoke, the fragments of the glass moon float up in the air and magically fixed itself.

“But this 1 is your favorite,” Faustus held it in the palm of his hand. “I know because it’s my favorite too.”

Cordelia smiled. “Thanks, Dad.”

  Putting up the tree nearly took all day. Cordelia was excused because right after lunch, the Warner triplets called their friend to come with them to go to the mall to see Santa. Cordelia was gone all afternoon and returned just in time for dinner yet her mood seemed to change. She was quiet and seemed angry. At first, Hilda thought her niece was annoyed because Zelda called to say that she was too busy to come home for dinner.  Then, in the middle of supper, Jake knocked over a glass of water. On the other side of the table, his baby sister jumped up in horror.

“You should be more careful!” She shouted before she ran out of the room. Faustus and Hilda found Cordelia in her room pacing back and forth before her bed. “Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry!” She muttered to herself.

“Cordy? What’s wrong?” Faustus asked.

His daughter looked up, frowning. “You should have told me. Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Tell you what?”

“THAT OUR KIND CAN MELT!!”  Cordelia shouted.

Faustus and Hilda exchanged a confused look. “Cordelia, love,” Hilda said gently, “what exactly did you and your friends do this afternoon?”

Cordelia sighed. “After the trip to the mall to see Santa, Mr. Warner invited me back to their house for hot chocolate and it was there that Erin, Emily, Erica, and I watched a movie.”

“What movie?” Her father asked.

“The Wizard of Oz.”

Both Faustus and Hilda felt instant relief. Hilda left to go inside the bathroom while Faustus took his daughter by the hand, guided her to the bed, so they could both sit down.

“Darling, while it’s true the mortals have short lives, while we witches can live for centuries and centuries. Surely, we can’t live that long if we are in danger of something as common as water.”

“But in the movie-“

“The movie is not real. It’s pretend, make-believe. You remember when you, Mommy, and I had our talk about make-believe?”

Cordelia nodded. “I remember, but it’s so confusing! After all, mortal parents tell their children that witches are make-believe.”

Faustus nodded. “That’s true but I can prove I’m right! Think back to every mass you attended, all the times Zelda took you with her to the academy, have you ever, after all that time with the coven, even seen a green witch?”

“No. Hey, wait  a second, I didn’t tell you that the witch was green! How did you know?”

Faustus laughed. “The Wizard of Oz is a very famous movie and you’re not the 1st witch to get spooked by water after seeing it. I guess you could call it a witch childhood rite of passage by now.”

“Your father’s right,” said Hilda, coming toward the bed, glass in 1 hand. “When your cousin Sabrina saw that movie, she reacted the exact same way you did. That’s when Zelds and I came up with the test.”

“Test? What kind of test?”

“Come here and I’ll show you.” When Cordelia didn’t move and kept staring at the glass, Hilda tried again. “What’s wrong? Don’t you trust me?”

This softened Cordelia immediately. “Of course I do, Auntie H.” The child got off the bed and came forward and Hilda knelt down to look her niece in the eye. “Now just give me 1 of your fingers.” Cordelia offered up a finger. Hilda took it and put the tip of the finger just under.  “Now, how does that feel?”

“Wet.” Was the child’s only reply.

Hilda laughed. “Yes, it’s wet, but what else? Does your finger feel like it is going to fall off or melt?”

Cordelia smiled and shook her head.  Hilda smiled. “Good, the test has worked in our favor yet again.”

“Thank Hecate!” Faustus added. “Can you imagine how foul our world would be if none of us would be allowed to bathe?”

Cordelia laughed at her father’s funny face as Hilda kissed her brow.

  A few hours later, Faustus turned down the bed as Cordelia got ready in the bathroom.

“Cordy, have you brushed your teeth yet?”

“Doing it right now, Dad.”

Faustus couldn’t resist. “With water?”

First, there was silence then came a low moan. Faustus smiled to himself.

Cordelia switched off the bathroom light and walked more into her bedroom. “Hecate, I’m dumb,” She muttered.

When she was close enough, Faustus put his arm around his daughter. “You are not dumb. You, my girl, are 6. Considering how you speak and behave most of the time, it’s easy to forget how young you are.”

Cordelia gave a half-smile. “Still young enough to be read to?”

“Not very subtle, miss Spellman.”

Cordelia giggled and crawled into bed as Faustus grabbed the book on the nightstand. Some little girls like fairy tales, most, at least, like a story with a plot. But most nights, Cordelia favored spell books, especially the Latin ones, even though Cordelia didn’t speak the language. She said it soothed her faster. Tonight, Faustus only read a page and a half before Cordelia was fast asleep. He tucked her in and tiptoed out of the room. The next thing Cordelia was aware of; someone was arranging her blankets. Her 1st thought was that the troublesome ghost was back but she was instantly awake when she saw who it really was.

“Mommy! I missed you so much today!” Cordelia sat up and threw herself into Zelda’s arms.

Zelda kissed her brow. “I’ve missed you too, little one. I didn’t mean to wake you, but your father told me that you had a scare today.”

“That’s not important,” Cordelia dismissed. “Will you come with us to pick up LJ and Sabrina tomorrow morning?”

Zelda nodded. “I will, but I must get back to the academy by early afternoon at the very latest.”

Cordelia frowned. “But tomorrow is the day before Solstice. You always spend it with us.”

“I know precious but we’re so behind this year. I mean, the church is not yet decorated or prepared for midnight mass yet.”

“How about I go with you? That way you could get your work and we could still be together.”

“We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

“No! Wait! Don’t go yet.” Cordelia grabbed her book. “Read to me.”

“It’s late, Cordelia.”

“Please, Mom?”

Normally, Zelda would have held firm but she felt massively guilty about barely being home lately. Zelda sighed and took the book. “Move over.”

An hour later, Faustus went to look for his wife and found Zelda and Cordelia snuggled up together, both fast asleep. Faustus went to Zelda to whisper to her. “It’s late, my love. We’re going to have to leave for the airport, well, in just a few hours now.”

“Mmm,” was Zelda’s only reply.

It was only then that he saw the book. “Did Cordy get another story out of you?”

Again, “Mmm.”

“Dearest, are you asleep?”

“Mmm?”

Faustus smiled. “That’s what I thought.” Gently, he put 1 hand under Zelda’s head and the other 1 under her knees. Then he carried Zelda out of Cordelia’s room and back to their own bed.

 Even though they had only been home a few weeks before for feats of feasts, Sabrina and LJ’s homecoming was a joyful one. At the airport, there was much hugging and kissing, done by all the family. The morning flew by with all their laughing, talking, and catching up. After lunch, most of the family went to the church with Zelda to help set things up, yet Sabrina went for a different reason. All Sabrina had to do was wait for an opportunity to talk to her aunts alone. She got 2 and chickened out both times. Fed up with her own failure, Sabrina teleported herself back to Spellman’s kitchen and groaned.

“Just tell them, you coward!”

The loud whistle of the kettle startled Sabrina. She turned and saw Faustus at the stove,1 of his eyebrows rose. “Something wrong, Sabrina?”

She could feel her eyes watering. “Yes.”

Faustus said the 1st thing that came to mind. “Are you changing your major again?”

Sabrina shook her head. “No, I’m not changing my major. I’m not going back to school at all!” There, she finally said it.

For his part, Faustus got out 2 cups and saucers, poured the tea, and sat down at the table with Sabrina.

“I can’t seem to bring myself to tell Auntie Hilda and Aunt Z. I wasted 5 years, 3 majors, and all that money. My aunties are going to be so disappointed.”

In an effort to comfort his niece, Faustus took Sabrina’s hand in his. “All your aunts have ever wanted for you is to be happy.”

“I tried, I tried so hard.” Sabrina’s lip quivered.

“I know,” Faustus soothed. “Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise,” he suggested. “Maybe, by taking a semester off will help you relax and figure out for sure what you really want to do.”

“But I was sure all those times I change my majors,” Sabrina stressed.

“You know, 1 of my favourite teachers once told me that the secret to professional success is to pick something that you love and are good at.”

“But I don’t know what I’m good for a job.”

“What about helping people? You’re good at that.”

“But that could any career.” Sabrina pointed out.

“How about a therapist? I would be lost without mine.”

Sabrina smiled. “A therapist? Me? You remember I’m the one who causes most of the problems around here?”

“Oh, that was when you were a teenager,” Faustus dismissed. “You’re grown up a lot since then. Besides, if nothing else, the outlook of a half-mortal, half-fallen angel raised by witches is bound to be interesting.”

Sabrina laughed. “True. You’ve given me a lot to think about. Thanks, Uncle Faustus.”

He was shocked. “You’ve never called me uncle before.”

“I know but it’s high time I did.”

 “Dad? I’ve been wondering something for a long time, but I’m not sure how to ask.”

It was late that night and Faustus was readying Cordelia for midnight mass. In his opinion, she looked great. His daughter was wearing a new red dress, her white winter tights, and shiny black Mary Janes. He was now adding the finishing touch of a ribbon in her red hair, exactly like her mother’s. “Cordy, don’t be scared. You know you can ask me anything.”

“Okay, Dad, don’t you believe? I mean, I know that Uncle C isn’t a warlock, so it makes sense that he doesn’t share our faith, but why don’t you believe?”

“But I do believe, sweetheart. I was baptized the night after you were born.”

Cordelia seemed confused. “You were?! Then why don’t you ever attend mass?”

Faustus sighed. “You have to leave in a few minutes and it’s a very long story and I promise that someday we will discuss this in greater detail, but for now all I can tell you that when I was high priest, before you were born, I did things that I am deeply ashamed of. The coven has since forgiven me but I am still weary of being near them.  I do attend mass, in fact, I’m there every week, but I don’t sit up front with the rest of the family, I actually like to sit in the very back pew. I also like to be the last one to arrive and the first one to leave. I like it when the coven doesn’t even notice me.”

Cordelia thought for a moment and then said, “Are you sorry about what you did?”

“Oh, Hecate, yes! I’m sorrier than anyone can ever know.”

Cordelia shrugged. “Then the coven has to forgive you. It’s just good manners.”

Faustus hugged his daughter, grateful for her innocent logic.

   A little later, Cordelia found herself at the church, sitting in the front pew with Hilda, Sabrina, Ambrose, and the twins while Prudence sang in the choir. Even at 6, Cordelia felt proud that it was her mother who performed the service, glorious in her white and gold robes. During the middle of the service, Cordelia took advantage of her end seat and looked toward the back. Sure enough, she found her father, who waved at her. After mass, Cordelia stayed behind to help clean up and help her mother say goodbye to the coven. When they drove home, there a raven haired woman near the stairs. Cordelia didn’t know who the lady was but, judging the way her mother was gripping the wheel, Cordelia guessed her mother did.

“Is she the one who keeps bothering you?” Zelda asked.

“No, I don’t think so. Mom, who is that?”

“Go inside and get dressed for bed, Cordy. It’s late.”

Cordelia did as she was told but she did pick up some bits of dialogue.

“Bright solstice, Zelda.”

“What are you doing here, Lilith?”

“Come now, surely I’m allowed to check up on my son’s future bride.”

That was all Cordelia heard. 10 minutes later, Zelda came into Cordelia’s room to kiss her daughter goodnight.

“Mom?  I heard you and that lady talking. Who’s getting married? Prudence or LJ?”

“No one in this house is getting married!” Zelda declared firmly.

Zelda went to bed mad and woke up even angrier. “I don’t get it, Faustus.” She said to her husband as they went downstairs for breakfast. “We heard or seen nothing of Lilith these past 6 years and the 1st thing she mentions is that stupid marriage contract that I signed in invisible ink and can’t possibly be binding. Lilith knows that! What game is she playing at?”

“I don’t know and I don’t care.” Faustus answered honestly. “Whenever it is, we’ll deal with it together like we always do. Today is solstice. It’s time to celebrate that and the fact that this is your 1st day off in weeks. Then, later on, tonight, I get to show you how terribly I and our bed, have missed you.”  He kissed her hard before they walked into the kitchen, hand in hand.

 According to tradition, the family waited until sundown to gather round the Yule tree and start exchanging gifts. Half an hour later, the get together was in full swing, with music, talking, and laughing all filling the air. It was about this time that Faustus gave Zelda a small blue ring box. Inside was the 6th annual charm that Faustus gave his wife every Yule to go on the bracelet that he had given her on their 1st Solstice that they spent together as a married couple. However, the meaning of this year’s charm was lost on Zelda.

“A white rose?”

Faustus nodded. “A symbol of eternal love.”

Zelda gave a sly smile. “Yours or mine?”

Faustus laughed and stroked his wife’s cheek as he received Zelda’s thank you kiss. Then Faustus stood up and grabbed a skinny gift from under the tree. He passed it to Cordelia.  “Speaking of jewellery, here a little something from your mother and me.” Cordelia smiled as she took the gift and unwrapped it. It turned out be a golden chain with a crescent moon attached, not unlike her own birthmark. She looked up at her parents from her place on the floor.

“I love it! Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Mom.” Cordelia got up and hugged both her parents.

“May Hecate bless and keep you, my Cordelia.” Zelda smiled at her daughter.

“Amen.”

“Oh, it seems we ran out of music and could use a new Christmas CD.” Hilda sighed.

“I’ll go change it since I’m up.”  Cordelia offered and journeyed to the stereo but before she got there, she passed a window and froze.  She looked very upset.

It was Hilda who first noticed her distress.  “Cordy, darling? What’s wrong?”

“It’s her,” Came her niece’s reply. “The ghost that keeps up me at night. She’s right outside.”

“How do you know? You said you never saw her.” Ambrose pointed out.

Cordelia shook her head. “I never did, but I always felt her just as I feel her now and I’m looking straight at her.”

Faustus got up to collect his daughter.  “Come sit down, sweetheart.  We’ll figure all this out later.” Yet just as he put an arm around Cordelia, he looked out the window and saw the ghost too. “Constance?”

“Faustus, may I see you out in the hall for a minute?” Zelda asked as she rose.

 “I think we should let Constance in.”

Faustus couldn’t believe his ears. “What?  Zelda dearest, what are you saying?”

“Well, I think it’s perfectly oblivious why she’s here.”

Faustus nodded. “Yes, she’s here to ruin our family solstice.”

“No,” his wife disagreed, “I think she’s here to see her children, the twins, as is her right.”

“I think you’re giving her too much credit. Don’t you remember how she behaved the last time we made contact with her? You had to bar her from the house!”

“That was over 6 years ago. Maybe she changed.”

“Changed?!” Faustus sneered. “Then why has she  been  bothered Cordy for over a month?”

“Why don’t you go out there and ask her yourself?”

“Fine, I will,” Faustus agreed. “But you’re coming with me.”

A moment later, Zelda and Faustus stepped out onto the frozen porch. Constance was right before them.

“If we allow you into this house, will you abide by its rules and customs?” Faustus asked.

Constance smiled as she nodded. “I will.”

“Come in. You are welcome.” With those simple words, Zelda broke her own spell.

The whole family was shocked when Faustus and Zelda returned with the ghost. Hilda was the 1st to recover.

“Um, Ambrose, Prudence, Sabrina, Cordy, could you come to help me and your uncle C in the kitchen?”

“I think I’ll join you.” Zelda turned to join the family, but Constance called her back. “Please stay, Zelda, there’s something I would like to say to you too.”

“Ok.” Zelda was unsure as she slid into her chair next to Faustus. The twins were sitting on the sofa. Zelda noticed that the twins were holding hands, something they only did when they were really anxious.

“Is it true?”  Jake asked. “Are you really our mother?”

“She’s only our birth mother,” his sister answered him, “Zelda is our real mother.”

“LJ, please!” Zelda didn’t mean it, but her mothering tone came through.

Constance didn’t seem to mind as she stared at the twins and smiled. “You are both so beautiful.”  She touched LJ’s face. “My daughter on her way to becoming a witch doctor!”

Jake lowered his eyes. “I’m sorry I’m not a genius like LJ.”

“Are you happy, my son?”

“I am.”

Constance smiled. “That’s all that matters.”

“And we’re safe,” LJ added.

“That’s right,” Jake agreed. “Blackwood is no more.”

Constance smiled. “I know; I’ve been watching you. I’ve been watching all of you.” Constance turned. “Which brings me back to you, Zelda Spellman. I have something important to say to you. Thank you. Ever since you dispatched with Blackwood, you have done everything to make sure that my children felt safe and loved. I can never thank you enough for that.”

LJ got up and walked to Zelda’s side. “Why would even doubt her? She cared for us when we were babies. I mean, this is the same woman who whisked me away at birth and loved me when she didn’t have to.”

You must understand,” Constance stressed. “The last time I saw Zelda; she was heavily pregnant. I thought that she would prefer her own child and become a petty and jealous stepmother to the 2 of you. Just” Constance sighed and cast down her eyes in shame. “Just as I did with Prudence. Happily, that didn’t happen. She loves you as if you were her own.”

“I love them because they are my own,” Zelda said gently, “Just as Cordelia and Prudence are. Perhaps you would have learned this if you’ve survived but a mother’s heart can never be too full.”

“Wait,” Jake was confused. “If all you wanted was to have a peaceful heart-to-heart, then why have you been bothering Cordy all this time?”

Constance looked startled.  “Have I?   I didn’t mean to. Please apologize to her for me.”

LJ leaned in to whisper in Zelda’s ear.  “I guess the divine child’s powers can pick up a rogue ghost better than we can.”

Zelda’s focus was elsewhere at the moment. “Constance, you’re glowing. You’ve never looked better.”

The ghost blushed like a schoolgirl. “Am I? Well, I guess being at peace agrees with me then. You see, I recently re-met a friend from childhood on the other side, and he has been helping me to put aside my anger and bitterness. I’m starting to see things differently now. Zelda, I understand that you didn’t set out to break up my marriage, Faustus’s heart was yours long before I came around. It’s perfectly fine that my children have 2 mothers, as long as they are loved and protected.”

Sensing that her time was up, Constance kissed both her children and turned to leave when

“Wait.” It was the 1st time Faustus had spoken since they had all sat down. Now, he stood and when to the ghost. “Constance, I have never seen you speak so tenderly or behave so kindly. I just to say I’m sorry. We never were a love match but I could have been kinder to you during our marriage. Not pressuring you for a son, been more of a comfort during your miscarriages. Enjoy the happiness you have now; you certainly deserve it. Bright Solstice.” He gave her a peck on the cheek. The lights flicked and then the ghost was gone.

It was when Constance was gone that Jake fell on his knees before Zelda. “We love you, bonus mom.”

LJ hugged her. “We sure do.”

Faustus watched this touching scene for a moment and then turned his attention to the hallway.  “Okay, guys, you can come out now. Don’t think I don’t see you spying over there!”

The guilty gang filed back into the living room and the Solstice celebrations continued.1 hour later, the room was quiet as Ambrose read Charles Dickins’ A Christmas Carol aloud. Fearing that she would too big to do it next year, Cordelia grabbed her favorite blanket and settled herself on Zelda’s lap. She was going to ask if she was too heavy when her mother held her closer.

“Hecate, bless us, everyone,” Cordelia whispered.

Summary:  Von stays at the palace per Riley’s request.   Riley spends the day at the private beach with friends with Von.  Von attends his first courtly event, as Riley’s guest and gives her a very special gift from her past.

"Maybe you can fool her with that you are on vacation bullshit. Cut the crap. I saw your little interview. What do you really think you can accomplish by coming here now Donovan?"

"I think the real question is, why are you so insecure with your relationship, that you are coming at me like this bro?"

"Because I feel something from you; the only reason you have come here is to try to take My Queen back with you. You do realize we have a family together right? Riley loves me and our children, and I love my wife."

"Then why is she not your equal?  The way you overrule her and talk over her.  I have seen you do it millions of times in press conferences.  You even did it to her today.  I asked Riley was she pregnant. I didn't ask you.  You answered for her, like she was incapable of answering for herself.  No wonder I've been hearing from her so much lately.  I feel like all you want is a pretty faced, pretty shaped Queen to give you heirs. Riley is more than that. She is not a trophy. You treat her like she's property. Probably the only reason you want another baby is to show someone that she's yours."

"SHE IS MINE! You are sadly mistaken if you think you are gonna swoop in and …."

"Look who's up?" Riley walked back into the room holding Jaiden bouncing him on her hip. He rubbed his eyes. Liam gave him a kiss on the forehead. "My baby boy."  Ellie and Adam followed behind her, looking inquisitively at the stranger standing before them. 

Von gave them a tiny wave. Adam waved. Ellie looked right at her father. Von could have sworn he saw Liam slightly shake his head "No." Ellie did not wave back. 

"Von, I'd like you to meet our children. Ellie, and Adam say hello."

Both children holding close to Riley's hips peer around her but only Adam said hello. 

"Ellie where are your manners? Say hello to Mommy's friend."

Ellie said nothing but ran across the room to Liam. 

He picked her up holding her in his arms. 

"I'm sorry Von, she's usually not shy. I don't know what's gotten into her."

"No it's okay."  He looked at Ellie. Of course he was training her to be just like him. She was the crown princess.  They both had the same look in their eyes, staring at Von, anger. 

"And this is Jaiden."  

Von remembered everything Riley had ever told him about  Jaiden. When Riley's memories came back she had told him about what happened with him that day during the accident.

"He would be so happy you named one of your sons after him."

"I think so too." Von softly touched Jaiden's cheek and  he giggled.  He grabbed Von's fingers holding them. 

These two were definitely Riley's children, that Riley had the primary influence over them.  Not Crown Princess A-hole that was looking down at him sneering just like her father. 

"Von do you have a place to stay? We have plenty of room you could stay with us. We could get…"

Liam cut her off  yet again. "I'm sure Donovan has made his own arrangements Riley, we shouldn't interfere.  He said he is in fact on vacation, he probably has a plan."

Riley laughed out loud. 

"Actually Liam not really. Riley, you know me so well. One of the things that is my fatal flaw that Riley loathed was my lack of planning. However, bucket list item #13 stay in a palace, so there you go!"

"We can get someone to bring in your stuff. I assume you rented a vehicle?"

"No not at all, it will be nice to get to know your kids."

"We will have a great time, I could even drive."

"NO!" Both Liam and Von screamed in unison. 

"So she's never been able to drive, these are not recent events from just not driving much?"

"LIAM!!!!"

"And I was there when she took driver's ed….three times."

Liam laughed, shaking his head at Riley.  "You're lucky, you're beautiful and charming."

"VON!!!! You gonna tell my business out on the street like that?"

"Mommy says snitches get stitches," Adam chimed in loudly.

"That's right, baby and Mommy's always right."

Von laughed out loud, "The New Yorker is strong in this one."

Von knew right then, if Riley ever left Liam, and he got another chance with Riley, he wouldn't have a problem loving adorable Jaiden and Adam as if they were his own kids. Liam would never let Riley take Ellie. She was too important to him. She was him.

Servants helped bring his items in but one box he wouldn't let out of his sight.  He held it carefully.  "It's a surprise," he said.

"Tomorrow we are having a small get together here in the ballroom.  Please say you will attend as my guest."

He nodded to Riley.  

The next morning after breakfast Riley security team took them to the beach. He noticed right away the way Riley's guard Nico was staring at her in her bathing suit. That's why Liam wanted another child. He's staking his claim on Riley. Liam was so transparent, at least in Von's eyes. 

But how did Riley truly feel? he wondered.

“Oh my God, I’m so glad you recommended this.  I’ve never been so relaxed in my life.   Who knew the thing I was missing from my life was a private beach.”  

Riley laughed.  “I feel the same way when I come here.   I think about all the times we went to the Island to go to the beach.  Do you remember?!? Shoulder to shoulder with people.”  

Inviting her friends also built in babysitters so that he could talk to Riley.  He had already noticed some things he was worried about.

He decided to just jump into it.

“Riley, is something bothering you?”

“I’m just fine.”  She said smiling.  A smile he saw didn’t reach Riley’s eyes.  He saw sadness.  He’d seen that type of sadness in her eyes before.  Riley. Was. Not. Fine.

He watched Riley when she didn’t think she was being watched.   She took a sip of her water and put it down.  He noticed her hands were shaking.  

Riley looked deep in thought.  

**** 10 months ago *** “We’ve tried multiple times to turn the baby, but it’s just not working.  The baby is still breech. Being so close to your due date Your Majesty. I think a C-section would be best.  

“Both Ellie and Adam I had naturally.  “Will there be scars?”  

“We’ll do our best to make them as minimal as possible.”

“And there’s no chance the baby will turn so Riley can deliver naturally?”

“There’s always a chance King Liam, but it looks highly unlikely at this point.  A C-section is the safest option for both mom and baby.”

Liam gently rubbed Riley’s large rounded stomach.  “Yes, we want them both to be safe.  Is there anything else Dr. Ramirez?”  

“That’s all I can think of, we’ll have you back next week, as we’re going to start weekly visits from here on out.”  

“I just had one more thing, Go ahead Liam  I’ll be out in one second.”

He walked out the door. Riley waited until he closed it behind him.  

She chuckled at Riley, “You would think it’s your first baby how nervous you look.”  

“Well,” Riley tried to make her voice sound as nonchalant as possible,”  Since we’re doing a c-section would it be possible to perform a tubal ligation while i’m open already?”

“Queen Riley, you have plenty of child bearing years left, if we do the procedure and you change your mind, we might not be able to reverse it.”

“I won’t be changing my mind, I want the procedure.”

“King Liam hasn’t mentioned anything of the sort.”

“It’s not King Liam’s body, It’s mine.”

Dr. Ramirez gave her a knowing look.  “Is it though?  I don’t feel comfortable performing such a procedure on the Queen of Cordonia without the King’s consent or knowledge. Is there anything else?”

“No, That about covers it,” Riley commented with a stiff smile, walking out the door.  

He watched Riley looking down at herself.  Her hand still shaking touched her stomach for  a moment.  

There were sad tears in Riley’s eyes.   He remembered yesterday when he asked Riley was she pregnant and the mortified look that crossed her face for a second, that Liam didn’t even notice.

Realization hit Von like a ton of bricks.

“Riley. Two things.. First…. Why haven’t you told Liam you’re pregnant, and Second, why aren’t you happy about it?  

"It wasn't always like this. I really think somewhere he loves me. He is a good father Von, but not so great a husband. Sometimes he's sweet, but Sometimes I feel like he forgets we're supposed to be ruling together and makes decisions for all of us like I don't matter. Ellie matters more to him than I do. He wanted more children, so I've given him more children.  I've done and given him everything he asks of me, and at the end of the day, he doesn't take me seriously. I'm not enough. He's the ruling monarch with royal blood. No matter how much I give him it's never enough Von."

"You're enough for the right person Riley. You're enough for me."

Von took her hand in his. She quickly pulled away.

"Please stop. I can't take any more complications than I have right now."

On the way back they stopped with Maxwell to get Von a nice suit. Von saw immediately that Riley was his best friend by the way they talked. He liked Maxwell right away too. He reminded him a little of Daniel.

He sat at the dinner with Maxwell and Hana, they both were her best friends . They talked and laughed with him like they were old friends. He noticed Riley watching them from her dais as she sat next to Liam in their matching thrones.

She made her way over to him "Are you guys having fun?"

"Lots of fun Little Blossom, can we keep him?"

Von chuckled, "Maxwell you're hilarious. And how many stories does this guy have about peacocks?"

Riley let out a deep belly laugh, "He has millions. I've yet to hear the same peacock story twice."

"So Liam wanted me to ask you something, would you be willing to do a song for us, to open up the social part of the evening? I know you're on vacation."

Was this dude really this stupid? He was about to light a fire in this place, and in Riley.

"I'll do it for you, but I need to get something first."

He came back shortly with the same box he had been so protective over. He whispered something to Hana and she nodded.  Riley introduced him when he was ready.

He stood up. "Thank you for that lovely welcome Queen Riley. We grew up together in New York.  And she doesn't know that I spent the last 3 years looking for this, and just found it two weeks ago. This was part of the reason I'm here is to return it to its rightful owner. He opened the box revealing Riley's pink lady guitar. He walked closer so she could see it.

She jumped up out of her throne, gasping. Liam grabbed her arm. She slowly sat back down into her throne.

"I know what you're thinking. When I went to my fans to help me find it, I left one detail about The Pink Lady off the information.  After a few false alarms, Someone messaged me about this one. I just asked them one simple question, was there anything unique about it? They told me yes, on the back there initials engraved in the wood RB and DJ."  

Liam looked at the tears in her eyes in confusion.

"My Dad bought me that guitar. You know I lost almost everything I owned after the accident.  I could never find it, I looked for it, every chance I got."

When he handed it over to her she quickly checked the back.  She remembered her and Von engraving their initials after she played her first song she had ever written for him. She closed her eyes, also remembering walking around the store with her Dad, finding it for the first time.  She opened her eyes again looking at Von.

He smiled. "You'll never guess where it was.  In California. Thirty minutes from where I live."

"Hana if you would."

Hana sat at the piano playing for him. When he started the second verse, of the song,  Von's eyes met Riley's, and they never left hers.

The crowd roared in applause.  

"Riley, play something for your people."

"That won't be necessary," Liam interjected.

Riley ignored him and had gotten up putting the strap over her shoulder.  

"I'm a little rusty, so hopefully it will sound okay.  This has always been my favorite song since the first time I heard it."

When Riley played the first few chords,  Von knew what she was playing.  She was playing their song. Playing it for him.

Liam recognized it right away too.  She could feel Liam's anger  radiating off him.

When the song was over everyone was cheering for Riley.  Liam excused them. Von saw how he gripped Riley's arm as they walked out the ballroom, and he didn't like it.  He followed them. As he got closer to the door. He heard Liam's voice full of anger. "HOW DARE YOU EMBARRASS ME LIKE THAT!"

Then he heard an unmistakable sound. He slapped  Riley.

Von pushed the door open seeing Riley in tears holding her face.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING MAN?!? DID YOU JUST HIT HER?!?!?"

"Von please go," Riley pleaded. "You'll  just make it worse."

"Riley you don't have to take this from him. Is this how you treat the mother of your children?!?!?"

"I will treat her however I please."

He yanked the guitar from Riley grip, holding it in the air.

"Please don't Liam. Please, I'm sorry Liam. PLEASE DON'T!!!!"

Liam ignored her. He slammed it hard to the ground, shattering it.

Riley fell to her knees bursting into tears. "This wasn't about him Liam, My father gave me this, and YOU RUINED IT!!!!!!! WHY?????"

"Maybe now you will think twice about sharing looks of lust for another man so blatantly in front of your King and His People."

He stood  towering over them. Von's grip tightened around Riley as to protect her.

"Let's be honest with ourselves, we knew this was going to happen."

He stared down at Riley on the floor crying, shaking. Von held her in his arms, her back against his chest. Von was staring at Liam in pure disgust.

"I'm sure you know you're not welcome in the royal chambers tonight, unless you're ready to do whatever your King desires you to do for you to be forgiven. Otherwise, find alternate sleeping arrangements."

Liam walked out the room, the door slamming behind him.

The 15th Annual Kim Possible Fannies Awards - Final Round of Voting

Hello and good morning to everyone in the Kimmunity.

Now that the first round of voting has come to a close, I am happy to tell you that we have approached the final round of voting. This is going to decide the winner of each of the 31 categories.

Now, before the voting can commence, I need to go over a few house rules with y'all on this very important round of voting.

As the famous Mandalorian line goes, this is the way.

Rule #1) You can pick any category you desire, but you only get one choice per category. No more than that. Authors may vote on their own stories up to 5 categories.

Rule #2) You cannot split your votes.

Rule #3) You can submit your vote in either one of three approved methods

A) You can submit the form by PM to the KP Fannies Committee fanfiction account (if you have an FFnet account). The link, for those outside FFnet, is located here for your convenience: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/2622561/KP-Fannie-Committee

OR

B) You can submit the form by an email to the Kimmunity Fannies Yahoo email account. The email address for that, again for convenience, is [email protected].

OR

C) You can submit them to me (Sharper) by a private message or note on the following sites (Tumblr, Discord, or Deviantart) if you aren’t comfortable sending them by email. I will count those votes as well.

You cannot, however, do two of the methods or all three. It will screw up the system.

Rule #4) You have to submit your vote by June 7th (aka KP’s 18th Anniversary) at 11:59 PM (Central US TIME). No votes will be accepted after this date.

Rule #5) You have to put your normal screen name (be it Tumblr, Twitter, DA, Discord, FFnet, the active KP forums, or Instagram) under your vote so that it'll tell me who has voted.

Rule #6) And this is the most important rule of all -- You CANNOT share your vote either on any social media site (be it Tumblr, Twitter, Discord, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Facetime, TikTok, Kik...etc.) or on any of the forums or message boards we have here. The Final Vote Round of the KP Fannies has been private in the past and we, as members of the Council, want to retain it as such as part of our tradition in this fandom.

“Your highness,” Mark cleared his throat, “shouldn’t you be attending the horse riding demonstrations?” The first official round of competitions had started but Ayumi was hiding in the palace gardens and painting.

“Shouldn’t you?” She huffed. ”I don’t care to look for a husband. My brother and the queen can choose one for me.” Mark wasn’t sure how to answer. She was being ridiculous but how could a navy captain dare to call a princess ridiculous?

“Then don’t pick a husband. Let your brother pick someone hideous who will be a tyrant in your marriage.” Johnny came, holding a few books in his arms.

“None of them were hideous, sir.” She scoffed. “And my brother would never pick someone horrible for me. I trust him.”

“Well, at least save your reputation. The men will think you don’t care and they won’t try as hard. Not for the competition, not in your marriage, and not in ruling the nation.” Mark crossed his arms. Had they been called in just to babysit the princess? Was she prone to tantrums like this one? “Maybe you don’t care but monarchs who aren’t loved by the subjects usually get overthrown… or worse.”

“You’re overstepping, general.” She frowned, rolling her shoulder back and turning to the two men. “Where is this demonstration, anyways?” She set her paintbrush down in the small jar of water.

“In the practice yard behind the stables, your highness.” Mark cleared his throat nervously. Why was Ayumi so terrifying? Wasn’t Johnny intimidated? The princess had quite a sour attitude and a stare cold enough to freeze even the bravest of men.

“Your highness!” One of her suitors came jogging over to her with a small smile on his lips. He was one of the Korean men and he seemed unaffected by her cold stare. “Her Majesty, the queen dowager, has requested your presence. She sent me to escort you to the horse riding demonstrations.” She looked him over, mentally running through the names from the day before.

“Kim Jungwoo, right?” She smoothed out her dress, her face relaxing into a gentle smile as opposed to the scowl she had given Mark for interrupting her painting. He bowed, realizing he had dropped all the formalities and had gone straight to the point. “Well, aren’t you going to offer me your arm?”

“O-oh. We don’t usually-” He cut himself off when she raised her eyebrow and he looked at Mark and Johnny for help.

“It isn’t customary for a man to offer a woman his arm in Joseon. That Western practice hasn’t been adopted here yet.” Johnny explained quickly. “It might seem inappropriate.”

“Well, we wouldn’t that. Now, would we?” Ayumi’s smile became a bit less genuine and she stood next to the young noble. “Lead the way, then.” The four made their way to the practice yard and Ayumi sat to the queen’s left. “Your majesty.”

“You’re late. We couldn’t start without you.” The queen huffed. “Where were you?”

Hearing her get scolded made Mark a bit braver, even if he was standing up to a queen. “Forgive us, your majesty. We were educating her on proper Joseon customs for physical interactions with members of the opposite sex. The language barrier made it a bit difficult but she’s a good student.”

“Well, as long as you weren’t late for some silly reason…” She looked at Jungwoo who still stood at the base of the platform they were sitting on. “Go on, boy. Tell the others to begin.” Jungwoo hurried off into the stables and they began to ride out in pairs, two horses at a time.

The rhythmic clopping of hoofs against dirt made it hard to focus, pulling her into a trance. “What am I to look for in this demonstration, your majesty?” Three pairs had already gone by and they were now on the fourth.

“The grace with which they ride. If the rider is untrained, you’ll see a difference in their stance. Lee Taeyong and Xiao Dejun are excellent examples of well-trained equestrians. Park Jisung and Zhong Chenle are not quite as graceful.” The queen explained, her eyes never leaving the young men riding in circles and jumping over hurdles. Once one pair completed the circuit, they went back into the stables and another pair rode out.

“Well, those two are so young. They’re barely old enough to marry.” Yuta couldn’t accept anyone that young for his sister. They were still boys. He didn’t care if they were legally adults. “Do they even know all that marriage entails yet?

“If they make it far enough into the process, they will learn.”

Ayumi couldn’t keep track of who was who anymore, dizzied by the circles the men were riding in. But she couldn’t stop herself from noticing that some of the men definitely looked better while riding horses than others. She noticed the way some looked to move with the horse while others fought for control. “These men have all passed various academic tests, yes?”

“Yes. All of them have extensive cultural, history, language, and political educations on top of the standard mathematics and sciences.” Johnny and Mark were standing behind the royals, watching the demonstrations with scrutiny. They had to keep score for all of the competitions, mostly just so the royals could have numbers to look at outside of opinions. For the horseback riding, the score was out of five for form, stability, grace, ease, and how well they worked with the horse.

Once the men had all ridden past, the stablehands collected the hurdles and set up three archery targets. Each man would get three shots. “Bring me a bow and three arrows.” Yuta came down from the platform, holding out his hand. A stablehand rushed and gave him what he asked for. He effortlessly shot three bullseyes, one right after the other one. “If you can split my arrow in half, you’ll gain my favor.” He handed off the bow and sat back down in his chair to the queen’s right.

Ayumi sank into her chair as most of the men shot within the center circle of the target. They were all really good. But a few of them scored relatively low. Instead of using a score out of ten, they used a five-point method. No one scored lower than a three in archery but it was still a bit humiliating compared to a few of the men with perfect aim.

Someone managed to split one of Yuta’s arrows and Ayumi immediately perked up, her eyes searching for the culprit. Who had gained her brother’s favor? She locked eyes with none other than Jung Jaehyun. She smiled, about to speak when another arrow was split. Chittaphon. And another. Kun. Her eyes widened and she looked to Yuta for guidance. “Three of them met your challenge, brother.”

“I’m aware. All three of them have my favor for now.” His jaw tensed up. He didn’t know how he felt yet about choosing a husband for his sister this way but it was really about choosing a king for Joseon so it made sense. He just didn’t like that she was being treated as a prize instead of being treated as a person.

Mark and Johnny tallied up the results. Any ties were sorted into the order of favor from the queen.

Building Molly Hayes in D&D 5e

So I noticed that I have now one build more for DC than I have for Marvel so how about we build something straightforward and easy and yet very fun to play? How about one little girl who really can beat everyone up?

Since I follow the blueprint set by Tulok the Barbarian, we need to establish our Goals for this build. First of all, we need to punch like a true Bruiser, someone worthy the title Princess Powerful. Second, we need to be as hard to kill as someone whose creator forced into the contract a clause she will never be killed or maimed. And finally, we need to do that while being able to fool people into thinking we’re just a harmless little girl, so they won’t realize the problem before it is too late.

Ability Scores: We Will be using the Standard Points Array - 15, 14, 13, 12, 10 and 8. If you want to roll or use point-buy, go ahead but remember to keep your Strength high.

Strength: 14, your nicknames aren’t just for show.

Dexterity: 13, we will boost it in a moment

Constitution: 15, Molly can take as much as she can diss.

Intelligence: 8, it represents formal education and Molly has few years of a hole in that and even without it is still in her early teens so she had even less of it than many other characters we did.

Wisdom: 10, should be higher but we cannot have everything.

Charisma: 12, Molly is adorable aaaand much smarter than people give her.

Now for D&D version of species, Race. Molly is a mutant and last time I checked mutant considered themselves a separate species altogether. So we’ll go with Stout Halfling. Your size is small, to the point Halfling passing for a human child is a known thing in D&D. You get +2 to Dexterity and +1 to Constitution. You are Lucky, allowing you to reroll natural 1 on any attack roll, ability check or a saving throw. You can move through space of any creature larger than you, you have an advantage on saving throws against poison and resistance to poison damage. You can speak Common and Halfling and your base speed is 25 feet.

Alternatives: If you want to play Molly Hernandez, who is not a mutant, pick up Variant Human and grab Lucky feat.

We will make Custom Background - pick up Deception and Acrobatics, any language that could be campaign relevant, artisan tool proficiency to play tuba and City Secrets feature from Urchin background. 

Class Levels: First we will get us some punching. First level Fighter gains proficiency in all simple and martial weapons, Strength and Constitution saving throws and proficiency in two skills, I’d go for Insight and Athletics. You get to pick a Fighting Style, Unarmed Fighting makes your fist deal 1d6+ Yoru Strength Modifier damage instead of static 2, 1d8 if you use two hands at once. When you grapple a creature, you can deal them 1d4 damage whenever you hit them by a melee attack. You also get Second Wind, letting you once per short rest use your bonus action to regain 1d10+your Fighter level hit points.

2nd Level: Molly is known for wearing cute hats. But do  you know what she doesn’t wear? An armor. Which is why we will quickly grab the first level of Barbarian for Unarmored Defense, letting you add your Constitution modifier to your Armor Class when you're not wearing armor. You also get to enter Rage, in which you have an advantage on Strength checks and saving throws, lets you add extra damage to attacks made while you rage and resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage. You can enter it a limited number of times, it lasts 1 minute and ends if you decide to, lose consciousness or do not attack anything for one turn.

3rg Level: Fighter of 2nd Level gains Action Surge, letting you take extra action for a turn between every long or short rest.

4th Level: 3rd Level Fighters get to choose a martial archetype. Brute lets you add 1d4 to any damage you deal with a melee weapon you’re proficient with. Meaning now this little girl hits with her bare hands like a guy with a sword.

5th Level: 4th Level Fighter gets an Ability Score improvement, but we will pick a Feat. Second Chance is a Halfling feat that lets you once per battle force a creature to reroll an attack roll that would hit you. You also get to Increase your Dexterity by 1.

Alternative: If you build Molly Hernandez instead, either grab Tough for more HP or increase your Strength.

6th Level: On 5th Level Fighter gets an Extra Attack, letting you attack twice in a single attack action, four times with Action Surge. You can punch fast because you have the power of youth...wait, that’s from some manga.

7th Level: 2nd Level Barbarian gains Reckless Attack, letting you before the first attack decide to gain an advantage on melee attacks during this turn but at the cost of enemy attacks having an advantage against you during the next turn.

Unearthed Arcana also gives Barbarian Survival Instincts, letting Molly become proficient in Perception and Animal handling and doubling her proficiency bonus to these skills. Between Old Lace and psychic cat Rufus, Molly is pretty good with animals after all.

8th Level: 3rd Level Barbarian gets to enter a Primal Path. Path of the Zealot is lore-wise hard to fit, as it is a fanatical follower of the gods. But you can easily refluff it - Molly is so devoted to protecting her friends that it gives her outright fanatical empowerment. Or maybe ask your DM which god in their setting is a patron of friendship and found families. 

You gain two features. Warrior of the Gods ensures that if you’d die and someone, say your goth surrogate mom, cast a spell restoring you to life, they do it without having to pay a, usually high, material price. The second feature, Divine Fury, makes Molly hit even harder. Now when you rage the first attack you hit with on each of your turns deals an extra 1d6 + half of your Barbarian level of radiant or necrotic damage.

9th Level: 4th Level Barbarian gets an Ability Score Improvement, boost up your Strength to hit even harder.

10th level: 5th level Barbarian is sadly a doozy because you get Extra attack you already got from Fighter. It sucks but they do not stack. Cheer yourself up by the fact you can now puch so well to make Punisher write it in his journal. And you get extra 10 feet of movement when you’re not wearing armor to cheer you up.

11th Level: 6th Level Zealot gets Fanatical Focus, letting you to once per rage (which at this level raises to four uses per long rest) reroll a failed saving throw while you rage. As with previous features that let you reroll things, you must accept the new result even if its worse.

12th Level: 6th Level Fighter gains another Ability Score Improvement, increase your Constitution for better AC and more Hit Points.

13th Level: 7th Level Brute gains Brutish Durability, which allows you to add 1d6 to any saving throw you make, and if it’s a Death Saving Throw and it would push you to or above 20, you treat the roll as a natural 20, making you automatically regain 1 hit point.

14th Level: 8th Level Fighter gets to round up Constitution with another Ability Score Improvement.

15th Level: 9th Level Fighter becomes Indominable, allowing you to once per long rest reroll a failed saving throw and accept the new roll, even if it's worse.

16th Level: 7th Level Barbarian gains Feral Instinct, giving you an advantage on Initiative rolls and letting you act as if you’re not surprised in case an enemy surprises you, but only if the first thing you do is enter Rage. Which is what you should do if X-Men show suddenly to kidnap you to their weird cult island.

17th Level: 8th Level Barbarian can increase Strength with our last Ability Score Improvement.

18th Level: 9th Level Barbarian gets Brutal Critical, allowing you on a critical hit roll one additional die of any type you use in an attack, and since you use multiple ones, you can pick the highest one.

19th Level: 10th Level Zealot can make a Zealous Presence, letting you once per long rest as a bonus action rally up your teammates in need, giving them an advantage on saving throws and attack rolls for their next turn.

20th Level: Our capstone is 11th level Barbarian, giving us Relentless Rage. If you are raging and drop to 0 hit points but not outright killed, you can succeed a DC 10 Constitution saving throw and drop to 1 hit point instead. Every time you use it between rests the DC increases by 5 and goes back to 10 after short or long rest.

Overview: Molly Hayes is a Stout Halfling Brute Fighter 9/Path of Zealot Barbarian 11, let us see how good this build is.

Pros: First of all, your damage from various sources can stack up to pretty decent damage. Second, you are ridiculously hard to put down, with over two hundred hit points, resistance to damage, multiple ways to succeed saving throws and even more to get yourself out of the death situation - Indominable, Fanatical Focus, brutish Durability - and Second Wind, you can stay in combat for a long time. Your AC is at 18, which is also decent. Finally, you get to reroll so much you really feel like someone who is contractually set up to not die.

Cons: You are not as strong as you could be, we didn’t round up Strength in the end. Molly is strong but not as much as guys like Colossus. You also don’t deal much in magic damage and many creatures will have resistances or immunities against your punches, so you better hope DM gives you something to make your fists magical. And finally, you're a bit of a one-trick pony, you just punch people and I know from experience playing someone who just hits can bore some players fast.

However, this is pretty in character. You’re still a kid, so you have still time to surpass powerhouses like Hulk. But in meanwhile remember to keep your found family safe and teach everyone this kid is not to be underestimated.

Alternatives: I was considering Rogue but it didn’t really work with it since Molly doesn’t use anything that can deal Sneak Attack. if you sacrifice that character bit, you can start as a Rogue to get better skills. Going up to 4 levels and picking Swashbuckler or Scout for an Archetype will combine well with Cunning Action to make you move on the battlefield with an energy an excited kid like Molly has.

Buffy Summers for 5e

Inspired by boredom and Tulok the Barbarian on Youtube, I thought I’d give a go to one of my favorite characters. 

Who could easily be written up for 5e as a PC.  

Godzilla’s my main, but PC in D&D?  Not so much. 

Note: Edited for a small correction. 

Goals:  Buffy Summers, as a character, has a lot of things going for her.  

Goal 1: Monster Mashing - Buffy has to be really, really good at Slaying.  She is the Slayer after all. 

Goal 2: Quipping.  Buffy has a sharp mouth on her, so we got to reflect that somehow mechanically. 

Goal 3: PTSD.  Buffy’s seen things that no one should see and it shows. 

Of course, we’ll be using the Standard Point Array.  There is no multiclassing in this build, but she does have certain requirements.  Our top 3 stats are going to be physical ones.  Because of the mechanics of D&D, certain things will be prioritized. 

Our top is Strength (15).  She’s super-strong, but this is as close as we can get to that for now.  Next is Dexterity (14).  Buffy is a very agile fighter, avoiding hits whenever she can and usually doesn’t wear much armor (She does when she needs to, especially in the comics, so don’t feel bad about giving her a breastplate.  Constitution next (13), she’s taken massive beatings and keeps on ticking. Wisdom is next (12), I’d have liked it higher, but she does make some epic mistakes.  Next is Charisma (10). We’ll be shoring this up in a bit, but Buffy did ruin her reputation with one burned down gymnasium. We’ll be dumping Intelligence (8).  To quote her, “When am I ever going to need math, history, or...the English language...”

Point Array:  STR: 15 DEX: 14 CON: 13 INT: 8 WIS: 12 CHA: 10

Buffy is a Vampire Slayer, chosen to defend the world from the forces of darkness. To me, that screams variant human Scourge Aasimar.  Scourge Aasimar gain a +2 to Charisma and a +1 Constitution.  They have 60ft of Darkvision and Celestial Resistance, meaning she can resist Necrotic and Radiant damage. She also has the Healing Hands ability and is able to heal HP equal to her level with a touch as an action.  This can be done once per long rest.  She can also cast the Light cantrip because even she sometimes needs a flashlight.  She can also read and write Common and Celestial.

For Backgrounds, Buffy is a Haunted One. Buffy’s Harrowing Events are many and varied, mostly stemming from her calling.  She’s chosen to embrace it and is stronger for it, but it still hurts. Because the hardest thing to do in the world is live in it. 

Example traumas to call upon include: Her cousin having her life drained out of her right in front of her eyes by an invisible monster (Der Kindestod), dying at the hands of the master, Angel, dying to save your little sister, battling her own manifested fears of dying/being buried alive/becoming a vampire, and that’s just by the time she was 17 years old. 

From this, she gains two skills.  Pick Investigation and Arcana.  She also gets a bonus language.  Pick Abyssal, because she slays a LOT of demons. 

She also gains the feature Heart of Darkness, which is great character stuff in that people have seen that she has gone through hell and it can garner either sympathy or fear depending on how it is played, up to and including creating her own Scooby gang. 

This also comes with a Monster Hunter’s Pack and 33gp.  Why a Monster Hunter’s pack?  Because it comes with stakes. 

Now it’s time for Class.  Buffy fights the forces of evil, so she’s obviously a Fighter. Her hit die is a d10, her saving throughs are Strength and Constitution.  For classes, go with Acrobatics and Athletics.  She was a cheerleader after all. 

From her class, she gains a Fighting Style.  Go with Dueling for +2 damage from a one-handed weapon as long as one of your hands doesn’t also hold a weapon.  Note, fists do not count as weapons for this ability, so it makes a wooden stake to the heart really hurt in her hands.  

She also gains the Second Wind ability.  This allows her to recover 1d10+ her Fighter level HP as a bonus action. 

Level 2 Fighters gain Action Surge, allowing her to take one additional action once per short rest.  

Level 3 is when she can choose her archetype.  Buffy is all about hunting monsters, so the Monster Slayer Monster Hunter is perfect for her. It’s Unearthed Arcana for the Fighter, so ask your GM for approval. This grants her one bonus proficiency (go with Perception), Tool Proficiency (go with Weavers tools, so she can make some killer outfits),  a bonus language (Infernal), but those aren’t the reasons we’re going for this class. 

First, it grants Superiority Die. Buffy is a smart fighter and uses things to her advantage.  This starts as 4d8 and has many uses including Precision Attack (Add one to attack roll), Sharpened Attack (add one to a damage roll), Sharpened Senses (add to Wisdom (perceptioN) to find creatures or objects, or Insight to check if people are lying to her), and Superior Willpower.  These dice are regained after a short or long rest. 

Second, it grants Hunter’s Mysticism. This allows her to cast Detect Magic as a Ritual, and Protection from Good and Evil once per long rest, using Wisdom as her spellcasting ability.  

She also gains another Aasimar ability: Radiant Consumption.  Once per long rest she can transform and glow with light across a 10ft area.  Creatures within 10ft of her take 1/2 her level (rounded down) in radiant damage at the end of her turn and add radiant damage to one of her attacks equal to her level.  Buffy doesn't really glow but is definitely known for turning the tide and kicking butt unexpectedly. 

Level 4 fighters gain a Feat.  Go with Tavern Brawler.  Buffy punches and kicks most of the time, and uses any weapon she wants otherwise, be it a magical ax or a shard of glass.  It also provides a +1 to Strength or Con, go with STR.  

Level 5 fighters have an Extra attack. Which means she can attack 3 times per round with an action surge.  

Level 6 grants another feat, this time grab the Magic Initiate Feat.  She’s not much of a spell caster, but she has cast before.  We’ll be going with the Bard spell list for her for primarily one spell.  Or, rather, Cantrip: Vicious Mockery.  Now she can wound people’s pride and HP with her wit.  From the same list, grab Message (”If the apocalypse comes, beep me”) and also grab Healing Word.  Because her pep talks are short but very effective. 

7th level fighters gain class feature bonuses.  Which in this case means an extra Superiority die (5d8), and the Monster Slayer ability. Whenever she adds a superiority die for damage, she adds 2 dice instead of one.  Meaning, that is she uses an action surge, she can attack 3 times with a battleax (1d8 when one-handed) for 1d8+2 per attack +2d8 from Sharpened Attack, for a total of 5d8+6+ her strength mod for each (another +6).  

8th level fighters gain another feat. Grab Alert. Buffy is rarely caught off guard, which is how she’s stayed alive for so long. 

Level 9 fighters gain Indomitable. Once per long rest, she can re-roll a failed save.  Paired with Superiority Dice, this is very useful. 

10th level fighters see their superiority dice turn into d10s.  So now that combo super attack I described can hurt even more. 

11th level fighters gain a second extra attack.  Now, with an action surge, she can hit 4 times with her ax.  Or fists.  Or a chair.  Or anything else that’s convenient. 

Level 12 fighters gain another feat/ability score improvement.  We’re all up on the feats we need, so let’s start pumping up her stats.  Starting with Strength (18).

Level 13 fighters can use Indomitable twice a day. 

14th level fighters gain another Ability Score Improvement.  Let’s boost her Constitution (16).  

15th level fighters see their next archetype feature.  Here, her Superiority dice increase to 6.  And when she rolls for Initiative and has no Superiority dice remaining, she regains one.  

The 16th level sees another Ability Score improvement.  Cap Strenght again (20).  

17th Level fighters gain 2 uses of Action Surge and 3 uses of Indomitable per long rest. 

18th level Monster Hunters see their Superiority dice become d12s.  

19th level Fighters see their last Ability score Improvement.  Boost Con one last time (18). 

Our capstone is the 20th level of Fighter, gaining a third extra attack.  

Pros: 

A fighter with some decent social bonuses to hold her up, so she has some use outside of combat. 

She can attack in a variety of ways, and with all the weapons, and her wide variety of hits makes it very versatile.  Aside from Bludgeoning, Slashing, and Piercing, she can strike with Radiant and Psychic damage, but the former group is more impactful.  

Above-average healing for a non-caster. She starts with (assuming averages)  184 HP (Assuming averages) with +20 healing from Healing Hands, a 1d4+1 from Healing Word, and second wind healing 1d10+20 on top of that.  She can soak up a lot of hits.  

Cons: 

Low AC.  She’s going to need a shield to really bring her up to snuff. 

Casting saves are very low.   Casting with two different ability scores can hold her back quite a bit.  You may want to move a Stat boost to Charisma or Wisdom as you see fit. 

Limited Superiority use and pool.   

Despite her catching arrows and being very much a kung fu fighter, I felt this covered her a lot better and made an overall more viable character than could be done otherwise.

Goodbye 2019. Hello 2020.

To celebrate the new year - which a lot of people are celebrating right now, I’m sure, unfortunately not me yet - I decided to create this post. I don’t know how to explain it but if you like kpop, keep reading!

My Top 3 Songs of 2019

1. SKZ - Miroh

This song got me into my now ult group, Stray Kids. Those 9 boys have honestly made this year 10x better for me. Chan’s VLives definitely helped me when I was upset, and the members made me feel emotions by their side. I’m so glad that add of Miroh appeared and I chose to watch it because I may have not gotten into Stray Kids without it. 

2. ATEEZ - Wave

Again, another song that got me into the group. I heard the song in a video where they played huge jenga at Kcon... I think? Anyways, this song is another banger and you completely fall in love with it first listen. You won’t regret listening to this.

3. TWICE - Fancy

I got into TWICE when they released YES OR YES, but FANCY is the song that you can’t not fall in love with. I did on my 2nd listen and man, if you’re saying you didn’t learn the dance and bopped to this song, you are LYING because- let’s be honest - everyone said FANCY SOTY. 

Groups I began stanning in 2019 its felt like forever tho

Stray Kids - March 26th. You think I would forget? 

ATEEZ - August 18th. Another date I remember, because I spent a good 2 hours getting to memorize the members name and faces. Was so happy when I finally did it. 

iKON - Honestly, I was more of a Double B stan since January until Hanbin left. I loved their songs but I never got to know the rest of the members, except for Jinhwan. 

ChungHa - Snapping dragged me in. That’s all I gotta say. Although, ngl, Gotta Go was something I always tried to dance to. 

KARD - Again, Bomb Bomb just pulled me into the fandom. The rest of their discography made me stay. I sang along to Bomb Bomb everyday for a good 3 months. It was honestly EVERYTHING to me and then Dumb Litty came and stole my heart and KARD did it AGAIN.

Mamamoo - gogobebe. Do I really need to say anything else?

GOT7 - I’m pretty sure I got into them because, well everyone knows GOT7. They’re a name everyone knows if you like kpop, so I just wanted to get into them. Eclipse and You Calling My Name are songs I’ll dance and singalong to in the right mood and right part of the song. But their personalities dragged me in. I’m pretty sure BamBam also attracted me when he was on Stray Kids reality show. 

Day6 - Time Of Our Life. I decided to listen to it because Seungmin of Stray Kids was a big fan of them and I was like, it shouldn’t hurt to try. Seungmin made me want to watch and Day6 made me want to stay. They don’t make ANY bad songs. 

Everglow - March 18. Listened to Bon Bon Chocolat when it came out, and I was honestly scared ppl were gonna sleep on them cause ITZY debuted a month before. Fortunately, everyone noticed their talent. 

BigBang - I dunno just listened to one of their songs. And, of course, I fell in love. Too late to stan them while they were active, but I’m expecting something in 2020... just saaying.

NCT - All of the subunits. Honestly there were so many of them, I spent time taking tests to tell them apart. The struggle to stan these boys. Instantly fell in with the Dreamies. And then I found out they weren’t a fixed unit... My heart shattered. It’s still breaking because 4 OF THEM ARE LEAVING. or left. I dunno. 

Tomorrow by Together - They were probably the most anticipated group of this year. I remember ppl hyping them up in October of 2018! Predebut stan right here. (I just remembered that I thought the preview of each member was coming out in age order and thinking that Beomgyu was the youngest. And I was just like WHERE IS HEUNINGKAI FROM?!?!)

ITZY - remember when everyone thought that itzy’s debut was rushed because info about them was leaked. yeah, i forgot too. anyways, again I was a predebut stan. 

(G)- idle - i always listened to their title tracks and I began stanning them during Queendom after their Fire cover im listening to 2ne1 2015 mama fire performance rn lol.... omg bom’s han cover just started playing. spotify is watching me guys.

Somi - Birthday was a bop. fight me. outfits sucked, gotta agree with that opinion I didn’t rlly know much about IOI but I started stanning because Jenchu were fangirling to it i mean jennie twerked for it!

Jimin Park - I’m out here still streaming STAY BEAUTIFUL. honestly she’s so loveable. her personality and her voice are everything. how can you not like her

My Top 5 Groups of the Year

1. STRAY KIDS - A lot of the reasons I luv them are the same as ATEEZ. That’s why ateez are close to being my number one, but honestly these 9 boys are everything to me. 9 or NONE FOREVER. They have been through so much this year and I hope they STAY strong for 2020. In their 2020 seasons greeting they announced a full album next year, so I’m ready to follow these boys on their journey no matter how many stay or leave. I’m a STAY for a reason. 

2. ATEEZ - PERSONALITY. I’m also a sucker for groups that shove their love for each other in your face. 8 makes 1 team, y’know? Hongjoong and Mingi are amazing rappers, Jongho, Wooyoung and San’s vocals tho, Yunho and Seonghwa’s deep voices are the death of me, and Yeosang dancing. They’re talented and luvable and that’s all I need for an ult group. also all their songs are bops

3. Mamamoo - Honestly would’ve tied with Twice but these I’m a sucker for them as ppl as well, and I need that to luv a group. they ain’t fake, they slap information in your face and they are POWERFUL WOMAN. (Not saying twice aren’t ofcourse) And these girls vocals are on POINT. Moonbyul is rapper material, but have you heard the girl song? What an angel. Their songs are all slaps, especially the most recent ones. 

4. TWICE - This was their year? yes or yes. Fancy soty. Feel Special was a great title track, don’t get me wrong, bUT HAVE YOU HEARD THE FULL ALBUM. Every song is my AMAZING. omg rainbow is playing

5. NCT DREAM - These boys stole my heart, I only stanned nct because of them. Honestly seeing the 00 line leave breaks my heart.

My Top 5 girl group and boy group songs

gg songs were honestly so hard to pick, they thrived and SO many good songs were made in 2019. But here is my list. 

1. Fancy - soty

2. Hip - this song was everything from the choreo to the song itself to the girls energy performing it

3. Psycho - came out like last week but it’s in everyone's top 10 of this year. Beautiful song that won’t get outta my head. getwellsoonwendy.

4.Violeta - this is another song that won’t get out of my head. honestly none of these songs will. ok so the final dance part after the drop of violeta pisses me off because the dance could is so powerful and that part comes and it’s such a disappointment but it’s the only part I can do so i shouldn't complain  but the song itself is very catchy. I don’t want these girls to disband even if the votes were rigged because they make a good group and sing bangers. i don't want them to leeeave.

5.Lion - the song is just so powerful. other songs they’ve made are good, but the chorus is usually a disappointment because the pre chorus is so good but EVERYTHING is great about Lion. Didn’t like it at first for some reason, i dunno why, but once you give it a few more listens you’ll fall in love. 

Now onto the boy groups. They made quite a few bangers this year as well.

1. Miroh - It’s my no.1 of the year. watchu expect?

2. Wave - and this is my no.2. Again, what else would I put here?

3. Run Away - what. a. bop. still can’t get out of my head. Crown was a disappointment to me after 1000 listens but not Run Away. A bonus is the Harry Potter references. With that I just was head over heels in love. Txt didn’t fail to disappoint with their comeback even if it was pushed back. 

4. Boom - This song made me fall in love with the talent that NCT DREAM holds despite being so young. Sang along for a few months. Actually, it’s still in my head. 

5. Make It Right - I was doing title tracks for all these but then I realised there has to be an exception because I just really like this song, especially the one featuring Lauv. Boy with luv wasn’t it for me but every other song on Persona is a straight up masterpiece (ok an exaggeration but u get what i mean)

Now onto the soloists (they’re all female, sry not sry)

1. Chica - I was debating whether to put Snapping or this but decided with Chica. Honestly the vocals, the song, the dance, the MESSAGE, is everything. I love it, it empowers woman, it makes ME feel good, and it’s what some people really need sometimes. So, thank you ChungHa. 

2. Gotta Go - another bop by our queen ChungHa, she really ruled this year. I didn’t stan her when it came out but that doesn’t mean I didn’t do the ‘deulshi’ part whenever I heard it. iconic.

3. Twit - Again another iconic bop from this year. (i thought this masterpiece came out last year, i dunno why but it just is so 2018 for some reason? I dunno) Hwasa’s solo debut really was everything. So was Moonbyul’s which unfortunately didn't make it on the list but I would say it’s in between 5th to 7th for me. 

4. Stay Beautiful - Such a beautiful song, it was a shame Jamie had to leave but she left JYP saying that they lost smth PRECIOUS and they would regret it and she conveyed all that in one song without hinting at it. So many quote worthy lyrics were in the song and it just bring up my mood and my standard for vocals. Don’t sleep on this girl, y’all. 

5. Birthday - the song brought out mixed reactions from everyone but i LOVED IT. It did get a bit old but it’s still something you’ll find me singing along to every now and then. 

ARTISTS THAT STOOD OUT TO ME THIS YEAR 

1. Bang Chan of Stray Kids. I love him. He’s such a great leader, he’s a loveable person, he’s all rounded and he fucks up sometimes but he acknowledges it and fixes it. He went through so much shit this year and he deserves so much more. I, along with many other STAYs are gonna make 2020 a better year for him and all of his group. Stay strong Chan! But besides his personality his stage presence, his rapping, his singing, his producing, his energy, his personality, it all made him someone who was always on my mind. 

2. Yeonjun of Tomorrow x Together. He’s also very well rounded and he really stands out to me from all the other 4th gens. Whenever I see a performance by TXT he always grabs my attention even when he’s not the main focus. I love his dancing, it’s very eye catching to me, along with his stage presence. He never loses his energy on stage and I expect a lot from him in 2020! His rapping and singing are amazing as well, especially for a rookie. Also when they first debuted he cried a lot, which was very heartwarming to me because idols showing emotion other than happy is something I appreciate, because it lets me remember they’re human too.

3. Seulgi of Red Velvet. She’s, again, very well rounded. I’m not really a Reveluv, but Wendy and Seulgi are vocalists who really stand out to me so those to kind of make me want to listen to Red Velvet’s songs. She’s an amazing vocalist, like words can’t express how much a love this woman's voice. Her stage presence is amazing as well, she’s just a really good performer imo.

4. Jihyo and Nayeon of TWICE. First of all I really like their personality and how powerful they are. Honestly a wink from them and I’m falling of my chair. Secondly, I don’t know if anyone's noticed but I really like powerful female vocals, and these two have extremely POWERFUL vocals. Have you heard them sing? Just... POWERFUL, that’s all I can really say to describe their voices. 

5. Mingi and Hongjoong of ATEEZ. They are rapper that are gonna blow away the whole industry with 3racha, I mean they already have. Did y’all see their performance in MAMA. The RAWEST vocals I heard that whole show. They were obviously not lip syncing, you could hear Mingi panting and he didn’t rap a whole line, and I LOVE that because it is RAW and we need more raw vocals or atleast breaths heard when the artists are dancing because it makes the performance more REAL. also stage presence is amazing from these two, they really know how to hype up a crowd. 

ROOKIE GROUPS I EXPECT A LOT FROM NEXT YEAR

sorry my expectations are high for them, but they have stood out tome so much and i couldn’t stand to see them flop. 

1. TOMORROW X TOGETHER - they’ve been on this list quite a lot, and I really appreciate their individual talents along with them as a group. I REALLY want to see them improve and grow more next year because they were really pushed this year, being BTS’s juniors. I’m sure they were really stressed but I want them to become TOMORROW BY TOGETHER not BTS’s juniors. Probably won’t happen in a year but hopefully in the next decade.

2. ITZY - another group really known for theing the juniors of TWICE this time. The title tracks they released so far have all been listen to it the first time, you don;t like it, but listen to it the 2nd time and it’s stuck in your head for the next 7 months. Honestly if they keep going like this, it would be like a ITZY thing, and I honestly wouldn’t mind. 

3. EVERGLOW - i think everyone just saw bon bon chocolat, gave it a listen, and loved it. but i also heard it was produced by someone who helped produce Crown by TXT and Spring Day by BTS, so there’s another reason ppl may have liked it so much. Adios wasn’t a disappointment at all.  Of course, I would also love it if Everglow kept up the “nanana” thing in each of their title tracks.

4. ATEEZ - I don’t think they’ll flop at all next year. I know they just had their 1st year anniversary, but I wouldn’t mind a full album... either way, Imma stick with them because they’ve only released that good shit so far and I’m honestly expecting a somewhat mediocre song at least once in their career next year. Not expecting it though. 

5. ONEUS - I haven’t’t talked about them yet but all of oneus’s title tracks are absolute gold. I am a mess for Valkyrie, Twilight AND Lit. They’re all just AMAZING songs. I mean, what did we expect from Mamamoo’s juniors but. They are REALLY good. Just go listen to all their title tracks rn. 

And finally, wishes for 2020

- Of course, Wendy to recover after her tragic incident at SBS. Again, I hope she recovers well

- Mina to come back from her hiatus, only if she’s ready to, of course

- BLACKPINK FULL ALBUM. ROSE SOLO. PLEASE.

- Of course, 4th gen to thrive along with 3rd gen and 2nd gen groups

- A full album from stray kids (which was confirmed) and again, maybe for ATEEZ? just maybe? 

- More attention for Mamamoo. They are underrated queens. 

- Less hate for Tomorrow By Together. People bash them just because they’re BTS’s juniors. they would be praised a less but definitely not doubted way more if they weren’t under Bighit. Yeah, they get luxuries other groups won’t but that doesn’t mean people should degrade them for it.
