The Bowling for Soup single "1985" was released on July 27th, 2004, which is 19 years ago today, and if you can do some quick math, you've already worked out that the year 1985 was 19 years before 2004.
In other words, we've officially hit the point where the song "1985" is now as dated as the things it was referencing.

So one of my favorite music facts is about the song 1985. You’ve probably heard it before, it goes something like this:
It was on Bowling for Soup’s fifth studio Album A Hangover You Don't Deserve released in September of 2004.
It was also a cover.
The early 00s band SR-71 released it on their third and final studio album Here We Go Again released May of 2004.
The songs are mostly the same but one lyric change (that I think is important) is the ending lines before the second chorus.
In the Bowling for Soup version those lyrics are:
Where's the mini-skirt made of snake skin?
And who's the other guy that's singing in Van Halen?
When did reality become TV?
Whatever happened to sitcoms, game shows?
(on the radio?)
But in the SR-71 version those lyrics hit so much harder:
Where's her fairytale?
Where's her dream?
Where's the quarterback from her high school football team?
How many times will she ask herself 'What happened to me?’
Ask herself ‘What happened?’
(The rubber broke!)
Bonus fact: SR-71 is one of my favorite nostalgia bands ♥︎

Wow..It’s my favorite pop punk rock band…Bowling For Cheese!
No really though…is it bad for me to say that Chuck E Cheese has gotten me into Bowling For Soup? It’s something completely opposite of my music taste, I’ve always liked oldies and pop music! But I really liked Jaret’s voice as Chuck E, especially in the rock songs like Halloween Night! So I gave Bowling for Soup a listen and was surprised when I found myself really enjoying it. So I’ve had an idea for a BFS/CEC crossover for a while and I finally made something of it!
(Also we got Jaret to see this on Instagram!!)
