Casanova Frankenstein's very groovy 1979 stretched limo Corvette from 1999's Mystery Men - a great satire of superhero films, that came out about a decade before super hero films were really a thing.

Just so you know, the song “All Star” wasn’t originally made for Shrek.

It came about because of a little movie called Mystery Men.

I’m saying this because I introduced my kids to this movie last night and they only associate the song with Shrek.

However they recognized the characters from the actual music video. They didn’t know this movie Mystery Men existed.

This was one of my comfort movies growing up, and I watched the vhs every day after school in my room with my little tv/vcr combo.

My kids had a blast watching it, but they had to remind me not say every line along with the characters.

Here’s a poster for Casanova Frankenstein, an evocative title for the German version of the 1975 Italian sex farce Frankenstein all’italiana. A French version played up the film’s comedic aspects as Plus moche que Frankenstein, tu meurs, “Uglier than Frankenstein, You Die”.

When he looks at Eddie again, he sees that the other man is already looking back at him. A warm smile is on his face, which Steve returns without thinking. It grows even wider when Eddie takes his hand in his own and caresses his knuckles. "So, I just had at least twenty different conversations with you in my head and none of my opening lines were any good. You were great, don't worry, you said all the right things." Steve laughs at the sheer ridiculousness of it all. He didn't pick Eddie to be a Casanova, but definitely a charmer. And while Eddie is charming, he's apparently also a total dork. In other words, he is exactly Steve's type.

But Eddie knows that's not why Steve cares so much about how he looks. It's Steve's way of putting on his armor to distract from how he feels underneath. Where Eddie uses his loud and dramatic antics or sarcastic wit and sharp tongue to keep people at arm's length, Steve uses his hair and clothes. It's a mask, something to hide behind. Eddie can see through it easily by now. Sees the soft pinch between Steve's eyebrows, the way his jaw is clenched and his shoulders tight. He notices the redness of Steve's mouth because Steve keeps rubbing it when he's nervous, and he no longer gets annoyed by the way Steve cracks his knuckles every few minutes, just puts his right hand over Steve's and leaves it there while his other hand is busy steering the van.

As they step out into the cool New York night, Steve, regretting not having put on a jacket, feels himself start to shiver. The contrast between the cozy warmth of the bar and the brisk night air creates an atmosphere charged with the promise of the unexpected. Eddie, who must have felt the chill running through his body from the way their bodies are pressed together and their hands intertwined, lets go of Steve to shrug off his own heavy leather jacket.

"I dunno, Sheriff. Maybe you’d rather I show you where I could stick my tendencies instead. I'm sure you can take it like a man, big boy." Eddie makes sure to lean in again as he says this, letting his eyes roam over the guy's body in a blatant invitation that he really hopes will be taken. It's not like he has any trouble picking up guys, even in the backwoods he's been traveling through lately, though he does have to be a little more careful. But he wants this one, badly. He's sure he'll look like sin on his knees for Eddie, eyes as round and wet as his mouth wrapped around his dick, begging for anything Eddie is willing to give him.

kiss (Final part of my FWB steddie fic)

Crushing on straight guys is nothing new to Eddie. In fact, he's made peace with it, believing that it won't be until some nondescript future somewhere far away from Hawkins, Indiana, that he'll even have a chance to find someone to love out in the open. Someone he could kiss in broad daylight, maybe not in the middle of the street, but with their eyes open and looking at each other. An understanding between them that their kiss was just one of many to come, hellos and goodbyes, thank yous and I love yous, all said with lips and tongues, without a single word spoken.

Mystery Men 4K Review

Mystery Men was just released in 4K from Kino Lorber. This is the first time the film from director Ben Stiller had been available in this format.

This film bombed at the box office upon its release despite the great cast that includes Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, William H. Macy, Paul Reubens, Lena Olin, and Hank Azaria.

I love the film noir style of this unique super heroes. I love Pee Wee Herman’s super power, then again I’m juvenile. William H Macy’s character is cool as well.

They’re not your classic heroes. They’re the other guys. The hippest cast in history has united for this hilarious and thoroughly original misadventure! When Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear), Champion City’s legendary superhero, falls into the hands of the evil madman Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) and his disco-dancing henchmen, there’s suddenly a chance for the Mystery Men to show what they can do. They’re a ragtag team of superhero wannabes featuring: Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller), whose power comes from his boundless rage; The Shoveler (William H. MYSTERY MEN- 1997 ⭐

90 Sci-fi comedy about a group of wannabe superheroes that want to go pro. They all have very unusual or often useless powers. For example the guy who can control cutlery but not knives. After the city is attacked by the supervillian Casanova Frankenstein and the actual superhero Captain Amazing is taken out, they band together to save the day.

Found this vaguely amusing for a little whils but then lost all interest in it. Really wasnt very funny at all. The cast have confirmed they would fight constantly over what the tone of the movie should be. A fight between Ben Stiller and Greg Kinnear got so bad Stiller tried to quit the project.
