Sleepwalking Hero
Danny couldn't sleep much when he stayed at Amity. This never improved, probably because his senses just became much more sensitive so any noise could wake him up; eventually he managed to fall asleep at normal hours.
His friends discovered that he would sometimes wake up to fight ghosts in the middle of the night, although after some investigation they noticed that he was still asleep, he was sleepwalking! Jazz thought it was disturbing, the halfa thought it was hilarious. He was some kind of superhero with his eyes closed.
This became a problem when Danny moved to Gotham to complete his college studies, they had a very good engineering program and the halfa was excited. The first two nights everything was normal but the third night something weird happened; Danny slept as he normally would and woke up with little blood stains on his pajamas.
He frowned but didn't make a big deal of it, maybe if he ignored it then it would leave. It didn't go away, rather he started waking up with a...mask? on his face, Danny didn't know what to think about that development.
On the other hand, the bats were panicking, a vigilante with super strength had appeared in the middle of their patrols. The lower part of his face was covered with a mask and his eyes were always closed but as soon as he heard a commotion he would run towards it.
The vigilante seemed unable to contain himself and sent the rogues flying. Miraculously that had only resulted in hospital bills and not the morgue but the new "vigilante" wasn't listening to anyone and they were starting to worry.

We're back with another dc x dp, coming to you this time on my phone while hang in off the back of my couch. Is blood rushing to my head? Yes.
Either way, I had a random thought about how personally as a child, I was a little monkey, like if my parents had actually had the thought to put me in gymnastics I would probably be a menace to society. And so my thought was, what if Danny was like that too?
Danny had always been very hyper, like, bounce of the walls, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE FRIDGE-" kind of hyper. When he started to climb, hang, flip, and just about break something just to have some fun, Jazz finally tried to get their parents to sign him up for gymnastics.
They didn't.
Both had been very happy at the idea, but when it came down to it, they just forgot. And one time without actually paying attention to the two, said gymnastics was for girls, ultimately shattering Danny's budding hobby. Jazz of course didn't just let that dream go, instead finding anything she could to let him learn on his own, at the very least, she made sure he was capable enough to pick it up in his teenage years should he finally get a chance to take classes.
That didn't end up happened either.
He'd died, become Phantom, accidentally become Crown Prince of the Infinite realms, and now had to deal with superheroes realizing that something was up in Amity. More specifically, a credible news reporter finally came to the town and settled the real or not debate in one swift "WTF IS THAT-" upon seeing a giant robot hunter thing(it was Skulker).
Along with all that, his parents, or more specifically his mother, was finally noticing something was wrong. Almost two years after he died, she finally took a second to look at him, and was disturbed. So Danny, being optimistic as he can be, tries to tell them, which goes horribly wrong and ends in a lab explosion and Danny 'stuck' in the Ghost Zone. Really Jazz blew the portal up after reaching her own breaking point and immediately called CPS on her parents since Danny was never gonna come back to them.
Danny all ouchy, there goes my parents because the two destroyed their blood bond by intentionally aiming to harm him instead of the weird loophole they'd been in before. Clockwork being Clockwork yeets him over to Gotham, giving Jazz a note about it.
Over in Gotham, he's actually thrown right from a portal in the aky hurdling down toward one of the city's rogues. Whoever it is, the Batfam are like "wtf-" at the clearly confused child that suspiciously looks like they're one of the Waynes, and so they just take him back. Doesn't help that they're worried since he just got thrown from who knows where and definitely did not take that fall well- also doesn't help that he's clearly bleeding and severely injured.
Danny, after Alfred forces him to rest from injuries, is so hyper. His hyperness had gone into his vigilantism, so now with nothing to deter it, he was going crazy and he felt so stiff.
Cue one of the sibkings walking in to find the kid hanging dangerously off something and just going "hi". Dick has a new favorite(not really he still loves all his siblings the same...maybe Damian and new kid are a smidge higher, but they're younger so it doesn't count).
When he takes the kid to the gym in their house, he is literally running around and getting onto everything. Now Dick has accidentally acquired little acrobatic brother that he's determined to help out with getting better.
Best part, Danny doesn't even realize the others are like "welp he's family now" and is just thinking they're very nice for being rich. He doesn't trust Bruce too much though, sure rich people's mids could be chill(take Sam for example) but parents themselves were iffy.
No one knows how to react to the truth bombs he randomly drops without even realizing it either.
Dick, watching Danny haning upside down from a bar for the last like 10 minutes: whatcha doin buddy?
Danny: thinking about my parents.
Damian, who's also been watching the whole tome but would never admit it: Your parents?
Danny, yeeting himself off the bar with no sense of self preservation: yeah, they told me they'd sign me up for gymnastics. Never did. Claimed it was only for girls. Although I think that was the same day our oven came alive on accident and almost set me on fire so...they were pretty distracted.
Dick, staring in actual horror for many reasons: What?!
Damian, also horrified but not showing it as much: Your oven came alive...?
Danny, who still isn't paying attention and already having forgotten what he said: how do you do that thing you showed me earlier?

New Dimension, Who's This?
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
Okay okay wait what if ghosts sort of feed off their own energy supply or like humans make our own blood they make their own ecto.
But Danny is a halfa.
Maybe he doesn't make any or just not in his human form. So when his powers use it up he has to find a way to get more.
In Amity that isn't really a problem, but if he's not in Amity? If he's not even in his dimension?
...
Danny is king, he has been for a few years now. Lets say he's 20 something and he's still learning his og powers as well as his new kingly eldritch ones.
He makes a portal, goes in to check it out, and gets stuck when he doesn't have enough juice to make another one to go back.
Portals aren't simple, even a portal for something human at a lower power level needs a lot to make a portal in their own dimension.
Creating one for an eldritch being, the king of the infinite realms, to another dimension requires an insane amount of energy. so he's stuck... somewhere, with no energy source. Transforming back into something vaguely human looking is taxing so he sits on the ground to take stock. The extra arms, paper white skin and hair, and the many ever shifting eyes are gone, but he can still feel the fangs and pointy ears, his crown shrunk down to a broach keeping a cape in place, it's covered in a frost so cold the fabric around it crystalizes, and his clothing is an odd mix of ghostly regalia and a black hoodie. It doesn't look bad, but he doesn't know how this dimension works just yet and he doubts this will help him "fit in".
Thankfully invisibility and intangibility come so naturally to him it's just the switch that requires ecto, similar to transforming, once he's there that's where he'll stay.
He needs to find a power source, wherever it is he's ended up, so he goes looking. He finds Lazarus pits but they aren't bottomless like the lakes in the zone. Some are like a dripping faucet, sure it'll fill back up at some point but who knows how long that'll take. Others were artificial, someone ripped a hole between realities, probably a small one since the leftover feeling of a portal wasn't there.
Danny stays invisible for nearly 2 months as he searches for a way home, time can act differently between dimensions, in Amity he might be gone an hour or a decade. The best thing to do for now is to get in contact with Clocky and hope they can figure it out together.
While emptying another pit he hears an angry man yell "You said this one wasn't empty."
An obviously nervous voice answers, "It was full this morning, Sir."
"This is the last one we have any record of!" there's a crash that intrigues Danny so he pops above the surface to catch a glimpse.
His stomach falls when he sees a Vlad looking fruit loop tearing apart a makeshift lab in a cave. Equipped with the same ridicules cape and beard.
There is a woman sitting on a folding chair, her legs are crossed and she very obviously is done with whatever fruit loop 2.0 is doing.
He was expecting to find more than 4! If that's the last of the leaks he needs to find another source asap.
"We can head to Gotham." the woman says, still uninterested as she pulls at a thread on her sleeve. "That place has always been a cesspool for everything weird."
"Nyssa." the man takes a breath, no longer yelling he continues, "We've tried that."
The woman stands, she looks scarier calm than the fruitloop does angry. "No, we tried to find one. We couldn't search there cuz of the bats, but if there are a few diversions we could get enough equipment into the sewers and we'd continue our search unnoticed."
Danny doesn't care much about the rest, he needs to get to Gotham before they do. He just needs to find where that is.
...
Jason Todd came back from the dead a few years ago. [We can leave him at around 23, idk what age he was when Talia plopped him into the pits.]
He's angry ALL the time, it fogs his mind so much it feels like he's no longer in control of his body. He knows he nearly killed one of his brothers, possibly two, but they ignore it so he does too.
He hasn't seen his family much since he was... brought back. As always, something pushes him to take action when he would rather not.
This time it's a rumor amongst his lackeys about someone planning on killing Redhood. They don't know he and Red are the same person, so he was planning on leaving the helmet at a safe house and sticking around to give orders and keep an eye on things.
That plan falls through when a group of three come up to him, they think he spends the most amount of time with the boss and want to keep their leader safe, but don't feel they have that kind of relationship with him to show how worried they are. They push Jason to take Redhood and hide.
His way of doing things creates a pretty even playing field amongst the lackeys, other than Redhood himself. If he refuses he's not a team player, if he tries to advise against it they'll think he's the one trying to kill his own alter ego.
He has to go somewhere none of his enemies know of, but also where none of his allies know.
That's how he's ended up being shuffled into the manor by Alfred, duffle bag in his arm and a headache so horrendous it's hard to understand what Alfred is saying.
~
Jason had been at the manor for two weeks, in that time he'd heard of two territory fights by crime alley, someone emptying the Lazarus pits around the world, and the assassination attempt on him hasn't played out yet.
He was going insane with his family on him at all times. No matter what he did someone was with him.
He knew telling them he felt ill and didn't want to hurt an innocent if the rage took over wasn't the best idea, but he couldn't think of one that would work as well to get them on his side.
That meant, however, that he wouldn't be able to go out on patrol at all nor leave the manor alone.
Damian, of all of them, was the one that helped him. He still acted like the spoiled brat he always was, but he'd grown. He was calmer, not by much, but it took him longer to be set off than he used to.
It wasn't hard to convince him not to say anything, he still knew his brother after all he came prepared. An intricate knife from 15th century china he nabbed off a man with a sword collection that could rival Damians and a story of wanting to get back his cat that he had to leave at his main safe house was all it took to get Damian to agree.
With his needed entertainment (books and videogames), his cat stuffed inside his jacket (which yes, Emma did exist), and ice cream; they were making their way back to the manor at dusk. Jason froze, someone something was following them.
"Dami, do you have your sensor turned on."
"Of course I do." he puffed out his chest and stopped to push back his sleeve.
"Don't stop walking, check what's to my left." the building was boarded up. It hadn't been like that last time he was here.
"Don't tell me what to do." Damian caught up with him before adding, "The building has no electricity or anything in it, but it's weirdly cold."
Just as they both look over to the building something phases through the boarded up window. "Run, now!"
As they take off towards the manor the creature follows them. He can't hear it, no footsteps, no heartbeat, no breathing, but he can feel it. And he wants to fight it.
"It's still following us." Damian whisper yelled. then Damian answered a question he didn't ask. "We're half a mile from the manor, on the road with the ice-cream shop."
"You have your com on?" His need to fight this thing only grew.
"Just with Tim. We should never have them fully off, something could happen."
Of course, he knew that, he suffered those consequences. He was probably the reason it was so enforced... and why it was followed.
Suddenly the roaring of an engine and a black car with all it's doors open comes racing down the road. Damian jumps in first, with Emma stuffed in his jacket he can't just throw himself in so he chucks his games and slides in feet first, hugging his chest to keep her safe.
The doors shut and the car speeds off past the entrance to the manor.
The winding roads should have shook the creature off their trail. It's not long before the car takes them down a secret entrance to the bat cave.
There's yelling before he's even out of the car.
"You could have got hurt!" Tim is yelling at him, "I don't care who you think you are, you put our brother in danger!" The rage starts back up, he was here first, he was the one who could protect Dami not him.
"Timmothy I fight crime."
Tim swivels on his heels, "That thing wasn't human. How would you have fought it exactly?"
Jason can feel himself being engulfed in it again, he's vision going green and his whole body tensing. "Listen here replacement."
"I am not!" Tim turns back around, the steam in him vanishes when he looks at Jason's face.
"Boys," a calm voice echoes through the cave. "No fighting in the cave. Go up stairs to breath or finish outside."
Jason ignores Tim and Dami as he walks to the elevator. He can't look at Alfred, can't let him see him like this.
Once out from behind the bookcase he lets Emma down gently, then flops onto the couch. If they know what's good for them they'll find another way up.
They don't apparently and all three walk out the same exit, bickering.
The noise erases the effort he'd made to quite the pits, as he stands to shut them up the creature floats up through the table.
A terrifying creature with long teeth, pointy ears, long curved nails and a cap hiding a thin hunched figure leans towards him. As he jumps away the thing grabs him and latches on.
Jason tries to shake it off, but it's almost like it's stuck to him. Not physically, but there is something holding them together and it's not the creature.
Suddenly a bright light flashes and the creature turns onto a young man.
"Why's the ecto in this dimension so shit." It... he looks tired, there are bags under his eyes and his skin looks sickly. He's draped over Jason, at first he thought the man was holding Jason in place, but it seemed more like he was holding himself up.
Tim stopped in his tracks. "What the fuck?"
"Language."
"Sorry Alf, but uh... What's happening?"
The man mumbled something, he rested his head on Jason's shoulder, he could see the effort it took to speak louder. "I'm so hungry dude. Why are you the only liminal person I've come across? It makes no sense."

In 1995 Steve gets the invite to his first high school reunion. He and Eddie talk about it and decide to go. After all, Steve hasn't seen any of his former school friends in years and wants to know how they're all doing...but more importantly he wants to see their faces when they see who he's unlawfully married to. Because he's a snarky lil' shit when he wants to be.
Eddie agrees to tag along as his plus one, promising he'll behave. Steve doesn't promise a thing though. They meet up with a lot of people they'd both forgotten about, making genuinely pleasant small talk for a while, and after Eddie makes a break for drinks, Steve suddenly comes face to face with Tommy and Carol.
---------------------------------------------
Tommy's been working in some high flying banking job since he left college, courtesy of his dad, and he's not ashamed to say that he makes the big bucks now. Carol's pregnant with their second, and is now at the stage where she's constantly exhausted, but the funny thing is that they both rake their eyes over Steve like they want to devour him. He looks good. Happy.
It's at this point that Munson, of all people, make his entrance, interrupting with a 'sorry Stevie, all they have is this weird punch thing and I'm like mostly sure it's not even alcoholic'.
Tommy gives him a look. 'Munson,' He says, 'didn't think you graduated with us.'
The tone is sly and bitchy, but Eddie just waves him off, completely unbothered. It's Steve that reaches for Eddie's hand, beams a smile at him and says 'He's my plus one, man. Been together 9 years now, crazy how time flies, huh? '
It's only a barest moment of a second where Tommy's face crumples in on itself, but he regains composure quickly. 'Oh, right.' He says, trying for even footing in the conversation because what the fuck, Steven, 'So what do you guys do for work then?'
'I don't.' Steve said, cheerfully. 'Eddie's band more than pays the bills though, we've just gotten back from the European leg of the tour. So this...' he gestures to the room, '- is great timing for us.'
Munson's lost interest already, too busy scanning the room for whatever losers he used to hang out with. He's never liked Tommy, so it tracks. Tommy's never liked him either, the weird freak that he is...was. He has more tattoos though, Tommy can see one winding up and around his neck, and on the back of his hands. He briefly wonders whether he's got more, but tables that thought for never.
Tommy's brain was already working overtime. He didn't think that Steve had changed that much, but he's one of them? Munson, sure. That was pretty standard, even before everyone thought he was a serial killer. Hell, there was probably still graffiti with his name and the services he 'offered' on it somewhere in the building. But Steve? He times back into the conversation, hoping he's not missed much.
'-the same band, different name.' Munson's saying. 'Probably not your sort of music though, Hagans-'
'Yeah but loads of people have heard the new single, Eds. It's in the top ten.' Steve interjects, all fucking heart eyes. He turns back to them and sings the tune of something that sounds actually kind of familiar.
'Wait that's you?' Carol squeaks. 'Tyler, my brother Tyler, is like obsessed with that song, I swear on my life.'
Munson just shrugs, like her opinion is beneath him, and Tommy's blood boils. Munson's always been able to get under everyone's skin, without even trying, but Carol's his wife and there's no way he's standing for that.
But Munson's not paying him any attention, he's scribbling on a piece of paper and handing it over. 'If he wants it,' He says, 'your brother I mean.'
Then he's looking across the room and his face lights up. 'Danny P!' He yells, making a break for it and grabbing some unsuspecting guy around the shoulders, spinning him like he's a ballroom dancer. Steve's left holding his drink, but doesn't seem to mind. He just laughs, and gives Tommy an absent kind of nod. And that hurts more than anything.
'Good to see you man.' Steve says, and that's that. He follows Munson across the room and watches as he's introduced to some guy Tommy doesn't even remember.
Carol's left holding Munson's signature, his fucking autograph, like she's been frozen stiff.
'Holy shit.' She says, not even looking up at her husband. 'Tyler's gonna freak.'
Tommy doesn't even think about it for days later, until he's at work of all places. He's sitting in his office, scanning through the newspaper while he waits for his next meeting. He's certainly not expecting to see Munson's face taking up half a page in the entertainment section, with a couple of vaguely familiar faces.
CORRODED CONSCIENCE RETURN FOR ONE-OFF GIG ON HOME TURF!
He scans through the article, the usual bullshit of talking the band up, how it's good to be home, yada yada yada, but it's the caption under the picture that makes him pause.
CC (left to right): Gareth Jones (drums), Jeff Springer (guitar), Violet Cooper (vocals), Dani Jackson (bass) and Eddie Harrington (guitar).

More Phantom Transcendence
Okay but like
Both Danny and Alcor can take on a human appearance right?
Like, Danny is half-human and Alcor can just, make himself seem like he's human.
So what if Alcor is bored and decides he needs to pretend to be a human studying demonology at college, and Danny's over here going to college for engineering and ecto-studies and they end up roommates.
Here's the thing
Do they meet on move in day and immediately clock each other a la pointing Spiderman meme?
Like holy shit, you also have an entire dimension and fathomless power?! Dude, same! Let's fuck with the professors!
Or, has it been long enough that neither of them really remember what's normal for a human and so will do things like float and the other just, doesn't acknowledge it??
Or do they spend MONTHS trying to hide their weirdness from their "totally human" roommate only for it to come to a head when one of them gets summoned in front of the other?
Like, Danny, going by Dante Walker and Alcor going by Alucard "Lou" Redwood.
Alcor forgot humans don't have fangs and as he usually shows up in a black button down people assume he just takes the whole goth look to a new level by wearing fake fangs all the time.
Danny forgets that he looks like a damned twig and is seen just casually lifting work tables in class to get a part he dropped.
I don't know how I would want this to go honestly because all options are equally hilarious, but also have opportunities for angst.
One of them gets summoned and a child was sacrificed AGAIN why do they always use children, it's clearly stated that the summoning uses orange soda. Whichever it was comes back shaking, crying, covered in blood from the cultists they killed and the other is there to hold him and swear a curse upon the souls of those who thought it was a good idea to use an innocent little girl and hey, they're gone for this lifetime, maybe they'll not do it in the next one. Oh, you ate the soul of the leader? Well that's good, don't have to worry about them reincarnating and doing this again. Want to go get some burgers? I know a great spot.
Just, I need these two to be friends.

INDIGO SKIES
After fighting a mysterious force he has never fought before with someone who he ALSO doesn't know, Danny finds himself stuck in a situation of figuring out what to do to his unconscious partner. What ghosts would he fight eventually? Is there more of them? Who IS this kid that calls himself the "Ninja"? The story of how the Ninja and the Phantom first met.
------------------------------------------------------
The fight between that Yokai ghost was difficult, Danny had to admit. It was thanks to the ninja that he had broken the stalemate. With the ghost being on the thermos, he was about to go back to his house when he noticed the ninja's physical state, bloody and bruised.
Normally, these were things he gets everyday, and he knows that the ninja is more than capable of taking care of himself, that he can prove because of their time together, but to see his partner way more injured than he's supposed to, it struck something in him.
He flew to the ninja, who backed himself to the wall, holding his wound so it wouldn't bleed out. It had been a tough fight for him, getting flung around and all that, "Hey ninja, you need help?" Danny asked, reaching his hand out to him. The ninja tried to even out his breathing, he wanted to answer, but he couldn't even mutter out a single word.
He was about to straighten up and reach out when he saw black dots blocking his vision, the world spinning as he let himself fall. He expected the cold hard concrete pavement when he felt a pair of hands hugging him tightly, his face touching some sort of elastic fabric. He tried to open his eyes but his consciousness was starting to slip away, at least he didn't pass out on the floor, even if the guy who holds him is still cold to the touch.
Danny freaked out when he saw the ninja fall, he was able to quickly grab him and let the guy fall asleep on his chest, knowing from experience that it's hard to wake a person who was probably working on andrenaline the whole time. He couldn't leave the guy on the streets so they flew themselves back to his house.
It was 2 in the morning, thankfully it was Saturday so he didn't have to half-ass his treatment for the ninja. He settled the teen down and let himself turn back into his human form.
Getting his med kit that he often uses from under his bed, he tried to remove the stupid suit off the Ninja but it wouldn't budge. "How and why the hell can't I take this shit off!" Danny grunted, giving up. He moved on to the Ninja's face, which he guessed would have a lot of blood since he was always flung around during the fight.
He lifted the Ninja's mask and removed it, causing a red glow which made Danny step back. Black strips slithered away from the limbs of the ninja as his suit began to tear itself away from the ninja and into the void. The Ninja, now revealing themselves as a teen, made Danny a bit shocked but shrugged off the information.
"800 year old my ass, I suppose we both have the same issues don't we?" Danny muttered, a smirk on his face as he knows some struggles of being a teen hero. A sigh escaped from his lips as he grabbed alcohol and bandages from his kit, maybe he should reveal his secret to the kid, just to even it out.
Randy woke up, fluttering his eyes to make his vision clearer, he carefully sat up, scanning the room. It definitely wasn't his room, nor was it Howard's, whoever kept him here must have been some sort of scientist or something due to the metal scraps and weird cylindrical things scattered on a desk near him.
"This room must've been Viceroy's." Randy thought, fear rising in him as he tried to get out of bed. He fell down, causing a large thud on the floor, he tried to stand up, his legs wobbling as he tried walking as fast as possible.
He reached the doorknob and was about to open it when another person entered the room. This caused randy to fall down to the floor again, as he backed himself away from the person before him.
Danny heard a loud thud coming from his room, he went straight to the room and saw the teen backing himself away from him. Danny knew the kid was panicking so he took it upon himself to at least calm them down. "Hey kid—" he found himself kicked on the face, hard. He held his jaw to soothe the pain as the kid sped up to him.
The kid tried to punch him but he blocked it, he held both the teen's wrists, "Kid calm down!". Danny tried to get some sense to the kid who then shouted back, "Who are you? Viceroy's assistant?". Danny was confused, must've been one of this kid's enemies he supposed, he then answered "Look, I don't know who that guy is!".
Randy wasn't having it with the teen's reply, with a knee kick to the guts, he was free from their grip and was about to go out when he realized that he didn't have the Ninjanomicon, as well as the mask. He frantically looked around the room and saw the Ninjanomicon and the mask sitting beside a TV.
With andrenaline fueling Randy, he ran towards the said TV, to which Danny noticed and chased after him. He pinned down Randy, who turned around making him face the teen. "I'm not gonna hurt you, calm down!" Danny gritted his teeth as he used his upper strength to grab the wrists of the kid.
He looked at the legs of the kid, he knew he was gonna kick so he used his other hand to pin down the leg that always kicks him. With the grunts and shouts coming from Danny's room, his dad had become worried about what was happening upstairs, his wife, Mrs. Fenton had also been worrying about it. Thinking it was a ghost attack, they ran to their son's room with their weapons.
"Danny! Baby! Are you okay— Oh my..." Mrs. Fenton clasped her hand on her mouth as Mr. Fenton had widened their eyes. It was a very awkward position to say the least, Danny had pinned down Randy who was lying on the floor and had both his legs sticking out to Danny's hips, suffice to say it was a scene that his parents never wanted to see.
Danny nervously tried to explain as he got off of Randy, who took the Ninjanomicon and the mask and hugged it tight, knowing that he can't escape. "D—Dad! Mom! I—I can explain-" Danny stuttered, trying to think of an excuse that could possibly overrule the "I'm having sex with the guy" theory.
His father walked towards him and put his hand on his shoulder, "Son." He sighed before continuing, "I know you love this guy, but you have to not hurry, plan your future, we'll talk downstairs." Danny tried to talk but they left, closing the door on him.
Randy had all rights to be confused, but it was confirmed that the teen was not working for Viceroy. "H-hey, where am I?" He asked, his voice raspy as he hadn't had a drink. Danny looked at him, "Welcome to Amity Park, Illinois kid, what's your name?". Randy then answered with his name as so with Danny and his name.
"You're the one that took me in, so you know I'm the Ninja, right?" Randy asked, it was about time to answer that question. "Yes, and so you know, I'm the Phantom, don't worry, I can keep your secret so long as you keep mine." Danny answered. Forming a bond, they talked a bit about information needed to form a semi-fake story before heading downstairs.
They saw both Mr and Mrs. Fenton, waiting for them at the dinner table, they gulped in nervousness as they both sat down. "So, what is your business with our son?" Randy had to look up to meet up with Mr. Fenton's eyes, scary.
"W-Well, I'm just his friend, nothing else, we were just playfighting when we fell down, j-just an awkward position, that's all." Randy said, Mrs. Fenton quirked up her eyebrows, "Then what's with all that screaming upstairs?". Danny then quickly replied "Well we were fighting about… a game? Yeah, a game, we were fighting about a game." It took off some suspicion, but the Fentons were still eyeing him.
"You don't seem to be from Amity Park, where did you come from anyway?" Mrs. Fenton asked, Danny also looked at Randy, he didn't ask that question earlier. "Uhm, well… I came from Oklahoma but I was travelling to New York, it was getting dark so I decided to stay here. I met Danny at that uhm… burger restaurant and we became friends." Danny was surprised, that was far. Randy lied at the end, knowing that they must keep their secret.
"Oh dear, that's quite far, even for you, does anybody know where you're going?" Mrs. Fenton questioned, her face now showing concern. "Ah my friend Howard knows, besides I've done it a dozen times and nobody notices it, it's fine really." Randy shrugged it off with a lie, hoping that it would get swept under the rug.
"But still, why are you in our son's room?" Mr. Fenton asked after being quiet for some time. "Ah dad, uhm h-he doesn't have a place to stay so uhm… I let him stay here, in my room." Danny tried to get them off the topic, which worked. "Son, we just want you to be safe, you can go back to your room, don't be too rowdy though." His father said, letting them completely off the hook.
The teens both mentally congratulated each other as they went back to the room, closing the door behind them as they sighed in relief. "You're actually from Oklahoma?" Danny was curious as to whether or not it was true, which had been proven that it was when Randy confirmed it.
"Hey, you have a phone or something? If you want, I can share my phone number to you." Randy said, a smile forming on his face. Danny pulled out his smartphone and copied the phone number Randy showed him, dialing to know if he got it right.
Randy's McPhone rang, proving that he got it right. Declining the call, he was about to leave when he realized that his shirt wasn't his, "Oh what the juice?! Danny did you change my clothes?", He said with a blush on his face.
Danny then shot back at him, "You just realized it now?". He pointed at the drawer near his bed, there sits his jacket and his shirt, along with his bag which had all of his clothes still in there. Wait, if the clothes he's wearing isn't his then…
"Oh uhm, you can put that shirt on that basket over there, it's fine." Danny pointed at a basket near the door, as he stood up to fix something.
As they brushed shoulders, Randy noticed that the teen was a bit taller than him, having a more wider and broader shoulder than him and more muscular than him. He found himself blushing as he turned his head away.
He removed the shirt, which was remarkably a bit bigger, the collar sliding a bit off of his left shoulder when he noticed it. He threw it in the basket and wore his shirt, not knowing that Danny was staring at him.
Danny was about to hide his med kit back when he looked at the kid's torso. Although bandaged, there were scars poking out, he was toned and had his pants sliding down a bit that he could see his waist. He puts his hand on his mouth as he whispered, "Hot...".
Randy heard Danny mutter something which made his head turn around, "What?" He asked. Danny is dumbfounded by what he said earlier, blushing because of his statement. "What?! Uhm… nothing!" He shoved the kit back under the bed as he turned away, leaving Randy confused.
With his shirt on him, he then wore his jacket, storing the mask on the inside pockets of his jacket as he puts the Ninjanomicon in the bag, they then left the room and went downstairs.
Heading to the front door, he said goodbye to the Fentons as Danny guided him to the bus station. Randy stepped on the bus and said his goodbyes as he went in and left Amity Park.
Danny sighed, looking at the distance, to say that he didn't feel something would be a total lie, he looked at his smartphone, at least he had some connection with the guy. His stomach growled, destroying his long gaze at his smartphone, maybe breakfast is a much needed distraction.

Y'all, the ectoham is so fucking barren it looks pitiful asf. I'll probably post a MIS/NS fic but come on, ectoham has got to have content bro.
But anyways, this fic is also connected to the MIS fic I wrote, every Secret Trio and MIS fic/art I would do are on the same AU. Still trying to think of the name of it though. Thanks for reading.

Hey hey Halfa dear,
Idk if this thought is anything you might find interesting, feel free to do whatever with it or nothing with it, or anyone else if you publish this;
I read something probably like a decade ago now that featured someone getting letters with no return address. They would come inconsistently but they were all from the same person just kinda addressed to the whoever lived at the random address they picked. Just talking about their life.
I just remembered this idea and thought it might be an interesting plot device. Maybe this is a Danny writing them trying to process what he's going through after something ghostly, or if he graduates and decides to start traveling with Dani for a bit he writes these to process.
Or maybe, even, he gets the idea to write these letters after becoming a halfa, or any of the big wild events of his life. And like he doesn't include directly identifying info, but he vents about what's happened, and he just writes them as ways to vent, and, well, they end up being delivered to a bat. Idk which bat. That's up to you. (I do think it's something that would grab Jason tho, his dramatic Jane Austen loving ass would love this shit)
I think for like why Danny starts, it could be that like Jazz is trying to get him to do something to take care of his mental health, so if he's not willing to do therapy or talk about things, suggests things like writing a letter to no one, and well, he does in a moment of needing to let out his emotions some how, and then impulsively like mails it and feels lighter, so he just... keeps doing it.
I just think this has the potential for so much angst and also, shenanigans as the bat on the other end like desperately tries to find the person writing these letters. Esp if there's like a tech blackout for Amity, so like traditional mail is the only real way information can get out of Amity, and since he'd have to be dropping it stamped in a mailbox and not just in his own, since this relies on not having a return address, no reason to suspect this letter is from Danny or that it contains anything they're trying to suppress
Okay now that I've dropped off this idea with you im gonna go try to get some sleep, 💜💜💜💜
Tumblr media
HOHOHO Okay... Possibly big brain moment? We'll have to wait and see? But! Danny has been living in the Ghost Zone ever since a really nasty incident (could be with his parents or the GIW, whatever your imagination prefers) so that he can heal and gather his strength. (He's an adult here, he doesn't have to worry about things like school and mandatory reporting.) And while he's in the Infinite Realms he ends up going into what is essentially a black market that's filled with, like, mortal magical items. (It's black market because if Walker hears about it, they'd all have to scatter like the rats getting found in the kitchen from Ratatouille.) He finds this mailbox, if you will, and it looks like something someone just ripped off a post from a suburban street and just kept for some reason? But the dealer insists that it's magical, cursed even! It doesn't have much of a function, though. As far as they've come up with, the mailbox just burns whatever mail you toss in there, so it's really just useless. Cursed! But useless.
But Jazz has been insisting a lot recently that he should really do something about his mental health. He needs to unload his feeling somehow, and no, punching the first person closest to you is not the way to do it! So Danny's like, hey! One man's trash is another man's treasure, I'll take it!
So Danny gets this mailbox set up, and he writes his letters and, just for kicks, writes these really weird, obscure no-context phrases on the front of the letter every time before he tosses it in the mailbox to- presumably!- be burned to ash. it can be anything from "potato salad" to "blood of my enemies". Danny doesn't really put too much thought into it, he just thought it was a fun little thing he gets to do, to lighten the mood you know?
But then Jason gets these letters. The first letter he receives in his mailbox doesn't have a stamp, doesn't have a return address, and it's not even addressed to him, but he thinks one of the rival crime lords must have sent it to him because the outside says, "YOU ARE NEVER SAFE."
Obviously he has to take it seriously, so he reads it even if it's not technically addressed to him. And at first he thinks someone is just fucking with him. Maybe Damian and Tim somehow managed to work together to write this mean-spirited prank? He tries not to think too deeply into it, but he does try to do research on some of the topics the letter brings up and he can't find anything??
And the letters keep coming. He's gotta admit some of the shenanigans the letters mention would be really good for a novel, and Jason can get so engrossed in the descriptions and he always gets a good laugh at the snarks. But then he gets a letter that has no words written on it, just a little, cartoonish heart scribbled on top. Jason is a little surprised, but he's not not going to read it, you know? So he reads the letter, and he finds himself quickly falling in love with this imaginary, mysterious person that's naming everything they love in their life, trying to show appreciation for the things they miss, and all the things they wish they still had. And fuck if Jason's not bawling his eyes out by the end of it.
Danny might have sent these letters out as emotional catharsis, but Jason is seeing himself in these letters too. And maybe, just maybe, Jason can heal along the way.
Now Jason is desperate to find the other person. Because that letter was way too emotional to be a joke. Not to mention there were dried tear stains on that letter, and surely that should help them somehow! He calls in some favors and gets some magic folk on the case, only to find out that whoever is sending these letters is in the Ghost Zone. But Jason knows they're alive (er, well, alive and dead, but it still counts!) and he just really wants to know if they're safe and well-taken care of, and are they lonely? Do they need help?
So he gets the magic-user helper to... fix up his mailbox a little. Obviously, there must be a connection of some kind between this mailbox and wherever the other guy is sending his letters through. The letters don't follow him to every safehouse or anything, just this one. By the end of the week, Jason has a huge packet, filled with all sorts of emotions and admissions, and just so much affection (no, he's not in love, stop laughing Dick it's not true).
Danny goes to open his mailbox to send through another letter and just screams his head off when he sees the manila folder on the other side.
When he realizes he's been sending someone all his rants and rambles and one too many vents, he's absolutely mortified.
I loved this so much, thank you for sharing this. I hope you did get some rest!

okay so yet ANOTHER big brain move with the queer moms meet lil danny phantom. Because I can't help myself I simply love the idea of this.
fair warning, this contains spoilers for the harley quinn show seasons 1-3 (which btw my fellow dp fans who kind of know a little bit about the dc universe via fanfiction/fan content and are able to watch a show with lots of blood, gore, and adult human: watch the show. its so good. a 10/10 for me). Because while I personally haven't finished it I have an idea on what's going on.
So, we have established that danny's found in an alley near the dead mall by ivy and harley doing some uhhh adult fun. but let's change it up a bit, shall we?
The Soon-To-Be moms just got back to gotham from Edin. but like when ivy takes a walk before coming up with the Big Bad Plan to takeover the world/terraform it into basically the prehistoric age. she ends up finding danny in an alley near the mall on her way back from like a park nearby. she's a bit confused on WHY a barely-teenaged kid was near a known supervillian hide-out so late at night. especially when ivy and harley's return to gotham was via public transport. and when the kid sees her and doesn't immediately start screaming/running in the other direction she's a bit confused. when she notices the kid has a bunch of dried blood all over him and torn up clothes she's now both confused AND worried. why? because in the show poison ivy actually really does care about people its kind of sweet. lady really just wants to chill in a garden and live her best life.
BUT danny and ivy meet like that. she very awkwardly questions wtf danny was doing out and about when injured. he kind of off-handly jokes that its because his parents want to rip him apart molecule by molecule so he's just trying to find a nice dumpster to nap in. this causes ivy to go ham into protective mode, since in the show her entire backstory is her dad being a piece of shit and beating her. so she kind of kidnaps danny like "dude i live in an abandoned mall with my girlfriend and squad come join us" and danny's a lil sus but eventually decides that well, if all else fails he can legit dip the hell out of there at any time. ivy and danny go back to the mall and ivy sets him up in one of the spare rooms/shops (maybe dr psycho's old room?) and then runs down to tell about/show the squad danny. they're all kind of freaking out over this lil boy, asking him a bunch of questions as they do, cue bane walking in for his pasta maker. because this show is on five different types of cocaine.
danny, ofc, is watching this whole thing freaking out a little bit. he's getting ready to run away so he can throw down with bane. but then bane's all like "you didn't get married give me my pasta maker back" and the squad all eating their pasta not-so-gently telling him fuck no then he leaves. so while this is going on danny's trying to put the pieces of this puzzling universe together. Green lady, funky clown lady, lump of clay, talking plant, talking shark, and some super buff dude that would put dash to shame wearing a weird full-body suit? and for all the "revenge" he talked about not even doing anything about it? just walking away? it's not looking good for danny's idea of what "normal" is for the DC universe.
BUT he hears that they're planning on breaking into a museum to steal a Jurassic Park style mosquito to take over the world. that's not realllyyy his style but harley's kinda up in his face excitably asking him if he wants to join them! because it would be so fun! so danny's like "uhhh yeah maybe I guess" while planning on sabotaging them. cause he's a hero doing hero stuff. yeehaw.
the plan in action, however? goes to shit. ivy ends up ditching the squad + danny when the guards start shooting, the squad + danny manages to catch up to ivy, then they escape but barely because ivy tends to panic under pressure.
which is a mood.
ivy makes the eden serum using the mosquito in order to resurrect the dead plant matter in the earth. if anyone else has watched the show; you KNOW that shit looked like some dp ectoplasm. the plant comes to live, walks around a little bit, then turns into a horrifying ecto-monster. it's speaking in jumbled ghost speak/plant speak asking anyone to just kill it already because its in pain and it hates whoever brought it to life so danny smacks it with an ecto-blast, causing the ghost-plant to fall into the barrel of toxic waste. in ghost speak, the plant tells danny thank you and dies. again?
ofc the squad freaks out a little bit about danny's powers but ivy runs out and harley follows, leaving danny with the rest of the squad.
aaannnddd that's all the ideas i have right now but mmmmm im loving writing this. im not gonna say its a fic because i SWEAR i can write better than this. better grammar, capitalization, less random lil notes scattered around - the whole nine yards.
but this is fun and I love the idea of ivy and harley adopting danny with king shark, clayface, and frank being his weird uncles and catwoman being his fun wine aunt.
ALSO I've heard rumors about a danny phantom fan discord? anyone have information on how I can join it? ;)

DP X DC AU idea
First of all, I've ingested very little actual DC media that isn't fan made (& usually crossovers) so if I get anything wrong let me know please.
~~~
Danny's secret is revealed. His parents don't take it great and get in contact with the GIW for help to 'get their son back.' The GIW take him and, like most ideas like this he's tortured and experimented on. He somehow escapes, they let their guard down when he stopped trying to resist the vivisection.
He can't go home. It's not safe there anymore. So he goes to Gotham. One(1) weird kid in a weird city isn't going to stand out right?
An idea I had was that, when they took him, the GIW erased all traces of his existence. Legally, he never existed. The people he knew might remember him but that's all. Of course Sam Tucker and Jazz are looking for him but they aren't really getting anywhere. The ghosts are looking too. He might not have officially been crowned their king, but he's directly in line for the throne and they want him back. As much as they fight, they don't really want him gone.
There's something wrong with his powers though. He's still a halfa, an Gotham has enough death and destruction that finding ectoplasm makes it pretty easy survive, (A headcanon of mine is that he can turn ectoplasam into nutrients so he doesn't need to eat as long as he has enough ectoplasam) but he can't go ghost or use most of his powers. He can do the basics like go intangible/invisible but that's it.
The cause? Selfishness.
With his obsession being protection (with a secondary space obsession ofc) he becomes weak if he doesn't keep up with his obsession. Being trapped so long has kept him from helping anyone so he's too weak to do much.
He has to lay low now too, so there might be obvious chances for him to help people but he can't take them. (Maybe that makes it even worse?) He does what he can as a human though. Whenever his current alley area is getting destroyed he help people evacuate before getting himself out. (Being dissected multiple times makes it easy to realize that he can't really die anymore) this way he's been slowly collected 'karma points' by helping people so he's stronger now. He an creat small ecto blasts with the ectoplasam and create a small amount of ice, but he still can't transform or use his stronger powers (he's been a halfa for a few years now, having eventually been convinced to actually train more than just his duplications abilities)
On one of his many helping trips he gets injured (he might not be able to die but he can still get hurt obviously) Jason (as red hood) find him due to some halfa/revived/ectoplasam shenanigans and is like 'oh shit that's the kid thar keeps escaping Bruce's radar holy shit,' and helps him in a mix of, 'hah take thaft, bruce, I found the kid before you,' and 'oh shit this kid is bleeding out! Wait why is his blood mixed with Lazarus pit goo?' And decides to take him back to one of his safe houses to recover.
Danny wakes up and promptly starts panicking. 'Has he been kidnapped? Where the hell is he?' Then Jason shows up and he's like 'oh shit another halfa? What the hell is wrong with his core tho?'
Shenanigans inuse, eventually Jason and Danny talk it out. They've both got a weird trust as living ghost creatures (which Danny understands and Jason does Not) but anyway they both explain their identities to eachother and agree to help eachother out.
Even if he's weakened, Danny's ghost royalty status seems to calm the pit when he's around so Jason is having a field day with that.
Anyway, Danny agrees to help Jason control his anger and eventually get the contaminated ectoplasam delt with and control ghost powers if they show up. (he eventually gets basic inangeblilty/invisibility and actoplasam blasts along with the white part of his hair getting bigger and his eyes do the glowy thing with all strong emotions not just anger, but doesn't go full ghost)
In return Jason helps Danny help people more so he can recover faster, as well as help him avoid batman as much as possible.
Time passes and Danny slowly gets his abilities back. He still can't transform which isn't really a problem since he's trying to hide, but his other abilities are back, along with the ability to make portals to the ghost zone which he didn't have before.
He visits the zone as soon as he realizes he can and calms down the ghosts looking for him there along with sending a message via ghosts to Sam, Tucker & Jazz to let them know he's safe. (They don't know where he us just that he's safe) He finally agreeing to except the crown. He can't officially become king yet since he can't go ghost but he does so unofficially, starting to form connections with the others, along with starting to clean of the zone. (It is a Mess, with no one really taking care of it for hundred of years it's pretty much completely fallen apart so that has to be dealt with emmediatly)
He drags Jason to the far frozen as soon as possible, where he gets the ghost equivalent of therapy and hot tubs. (which Danny has a pitty party over not knowing exists until now) Danny spend a lot of time going back and forth between the zone and living world helping people on both sides. Still can't transform though which is actually starting to cause problems in the zone.
Somehow Bruce finds out that Jason has become friends with the kid he's been looking for and kind of throws an adult tantrum which consists of threatening Jason, who is Not Taking His Shit, and fucks off to the ghost zone for a mini vacation.
Danny agrees to meet Batman (he knows his and the other kids identites now from following Jason around*) and the rest of the league because he's running out of excuses to visit to living world and 'Forming Conections With Heros' is his last option.
* -Bruce panics when he discovers he'd been followed regularly without noticing, until he is assured that no one would have been able to find Danny anyway since he was intangible, invisible and flying (hc that Danny looses all warmth his body after the tortures and is both constantly cold and invisible to heat vision)-
Danny meets the league and things go about has well as you expect. (He only agrees to go if Jason is there too) they bring him to the space headquarters both as a mix of 'resect' and because that way they can trap him if he tries to escape. (He can phase through the glass and float back to earth but they don't know that)
His space obsession Acts up pretty much as soon as he gets there, and he floats off to investigate before they could even start to talk. Jason just shrugs and leaves the league to their confusion. He find Danny back at his apartment apologing a few hours later.
They meet with the league again. This time on earth so Danny doesn't leave again. They have a somewhat civil conversation (batman is still pissed but the other like Danny so there's nothing much he can do) until someone asks in Danny could perhaps be a batman/other bat-child clone (black hair blue eyes mysterious vibes) Danny promises he's not and they believe him and move on with the conversation, but not before Superman does the equivalent of 'thank God, you wouldn't want a clone anyway.'
Jason explains to Danny that Superman has a clone and insinuates that they don't get along, so he can get more drama. (and throw a clone hater under the bus(jayroy?)) Danny snaps, and pretty much just chews Supeman out for abandoning the equivalent of his own child (Batman is trying to use 'Has a clone' to figure out who Danny is but he still can't find anything) and decides Superman in his least favorite superhero. (batman is close second and his favorite is either greenlantern or wonder woman)
Jason is off on a mission somewhere and Dick drops by because he heard through the grapevine (Bruce has been too busy trying to find some kid that looks like a potential adoptee) Jason has been better lately and wants to check on him. Instead he comes across someone who looks identical to pre-death Jason sitting on Jason's couch eating ice cream and has a Mental Breakdown. ('IS THIS WHAT PEOPLE WENT BY BETTER??? WHAT THE FUCK???')
Danny is like 'who is this man that came through the window and then promptly started crying?' But helps him calm down enough for them to talk before Danny calls Jason who just tells him to just kick Dick out.
Danny Doesn't Do That. Instead he tells Dick everything and makes him promise not to tell Bruce. Dick agrees because, 'wtf Bruce? You don't meet a kid that looks like your previously-dead-son that's friends with said previously-dead-son and Not tell your other children.'
Things go on. Until one day something shows up (power hungry ghost? Doesn't have to be DP related) that the league can't seem to beat. Things are getting desperate and Jason gets severely injured and is about to be killed and all Danny's attempts to keep himself hidden go out the window taking his 'selfishness' with them (cause of course he would consider protecting himself selfish) and he just thinks he purely wants to save his friend.
He goes ghost for the first time in what is probably nearly a year now and pretty much speed runs the process. Becomes king, gets all his powers back with a boost and summons every ghost available (a lot of them have gotten quite attached to Jason the ghost-human (he's not exactly a halfa) and willingly comes to help in a matter of seconds and just tears whatever was threatening his friend (and the world) apart.
The ghosts mostly just congratulate Danny one his Official King status and let themselves be set back (some resist but Danny sends them back pretty easily) he sends Jason too to get healed up in the far frozen and them follows after quickly when he realized that the hero league and their associates are just staring at him with surprised pikachu faces. (Exepted for Constantine who congratulated Danny in an attempt to stay on The Ghost King's good side then fucked off as quickly as possible)
He goes back eventually and thing progress as chaoticly as you expect.
BONUS POINTS IF:
- Bruce is the Last one to find out Danny's real identity and nearly busts a vain (instead he just doesn't talk to Anyone for a week straight. Everyone involved has a great week)
- Danny gets close to the other bat children and starts considering them his sibling, but not Bruce his father so it's just, 'they are sibling, but you are Not The Father.' Everyone other than Bruce finds it hilarious.
- Danny forces Superan to start parenting (or at least being civil) and Connor is confused but the ghost kid seems fine so he doesn't really mind.
- When Dani eventually shows up, her and Connor become best friends
- Bruce is immediately pressured into getting every single ghost law removed, and Danny's parents are arrested for child endangerment. It doesn't bother him much, they aren't really his family anymore.
- Bruce officially adopts Dani and Jazz, but not Danny. Both because he doesn't technically exist, (an easy fix but Danny is too busy with ghost work to really want to deal with human life heis getting his education in the Zone anyway) and because messing with Bruce has become his favorite pass time
-Alfred let's Danny and Jazz into the kitchen. (much to everyone's astonishment and Bruce's annoyance) Having to get by with their parent's (often living) food has made them both food cooks. Jazz doesn't use her privileges very much she doesn't even live in the Mansion since she's at college, (an will eventually intern at Arkham Asylum) but Danny does a lot. Despite not needing to eat he considers cooking very calming and does it quite often.
- Danny Doesn't tell anyone (other than eventually Alfred) he plans to take over Alfred's job when he eventually passes, on the conditions that he will not do so until Bruce is no longer around, (its Mostly a joke) and, if Alfred becomes a ghost (he does) he joins Danny at his palace in the ghost zone. (This offer is given to everyone and their decendents/spouses other than Bruce who is told he will be given an island to brood in peace (again. A partial joke. Danny dosnt actually hate he just doesn’t particularly like him), although he is welcome to visit)
- When Jazz eventually starts working at Arkham Asylum Danny joins her often to make sure she's safe. He also enjoys watching the patients become utterly confused about a doctor that actually wants to help, as well as knowing what ghosts to entually watch out for.
- Danny's first proper decree as king in the Joker's death and End to prevent any further unessiary deaths. as it's legal by ghost law decree batman has no saw in the matter and is forced to except it.
- Everlasting trio. Either romantic or as a QPR, it doesn't matter. Just. Everlasting Trio.
So like I haven't completely thought it out but-
✨DP x HTTYD AU✨
In this au, Berk gains a few new residents, namely the Fentons. Originating from faraway lands, Jack and Maddie have sailed the oceans in their youth, searching for ghosts and ghouls and all sorts of paranormal spooks until they found the Barbaric archipelago and realised that there was way more spooky things going on here than anywhere else in the world.
They spent some more time sailing the archipelago before ultimately deciding to set up shop at Berk, which saw the most paranormal activity and was located closer to the foggy, mysterious Helheims gate than any other inhabitable isle.
Now what did the barbaric archipelago have in spades that the rest of the world only had in slivers? Paranormal activity. Paranormal activity and dragons.
In fact, according to Fenton research which is 100% accurate always don't worry about it, the places that see the highest levels of spooky happenings are also the places that see the most dragons. There must be some connection between dragons and spirits, they are sure, they just don't know what.
And hence the Fentons decide to settle down in Berk, where vikings and dragons libe together in not-harmony. Well to be honest, they don't live together per se, they stay in the same area code and throw hands on sight I guess.
The vikings are not initially all that welcoming of the Fentons, never outright disapproving of them, but they were given the cold shoulder quite often. It was painfully obvious that they had never seen a dragon up close, and their teenager like eagerness to see one made it even more so. Everyone had thought that they'd go running in the opposite direction after witnessing their first dragon raid.
And then the dreaded day of the raid finally arrived and the Fentons took out two zipplebacks at the same time. On the first day.
Accepting them wasn't half as hard after that.
Fast forward a few years till Jazz and Danny are born and Danny is fourteen.
The Fentons are a part of the village, despite still generally being regarded as weird and strange for wasting so much time with weird contraptions and spirits. But they kill their fair share of dragons and earn their keep, so its all fair and square. Everything is fine.
Everything except their son, Danny.
He's been off lately. Skipping dragon training, running off at the oddest of moments, especially during raids and still returning all banged up, despite never even fighting anymore. Widely regarded as a coward and freeloader, pretty much everyone disapproves of him.
Everyone except the chief's son, Hiccup.
Though they hadn't really spoken to each other before, Danny's newfound incompetence in dragon killing does garner sympathy from Hiccup. You can call it the connection between the two biggest failures of their respective generation. And it doesn't hurt that Danny and his sister were the only ones who were nice to him most days.
The movie goes on as in canon, Hiccup shoots down toothless, finds him in the cove, starts slowly befriending him, etc etc.
Meanwhile, Danny has been busy beating up ghosts. His parents were right when they said there was a connection between dragons and ghosts. Dragons are creatures of the in between, the domain between life and death. They are not of this world, or the other, but they exist in both. This meant that they could potentially travel to and from this othe world. Using dragon's blood and some spellwork, they came up with several different portals to this other realm, none of which actually worked. Especially this new one, which didn't even spit out billowing green smoke like all the other ones.
Until Danny walked over it and tripped. Apparently the portal needed a sacrifice. Fun.
And then he died but not really so now he's a half ghost boy desperately trying to not let his parents find out.
Also did I mention that portal did not close and the ghosts turn up whenever there's a raid? Yeah. They do that now. So now he has to run off to the portal in the caves below their house whenever there's a raid to prevent them from harming others.
Eventually he decides to find out what's the deal with ghosts showing up only during dragon raids and decides to turn intangible and fly on over to Helheims gate on night. And that night happens to be the same night hiccup and toothless fly too close to the nest and toothless gets hypnotized.
I'll decide what happens after that in the morning.
I'll probably also attempt to write this au
God I need sleep
Could I please order a number 5 with Thomas, extra smooches? I just love the thought of a smol s/o beating the shit out of someone for this huge mountain of a man-
 Of course, I would fight most anyone for these men and I am always down to give Tommy boy more loving. I guess he’s a fan favorite right now. So I'm gonna make Thomas younger. In the movie I think he's 30 but I'm gonna make him 19 which puts this in the 50's. I'm setting this back in time because some other guys in town would be making fun of him and you'd be the one to stand up for him. I hope that makes sense. Anyway here's a protective reader and loves of kisses after for you my dear friend.
Warnings: Violence, strong language, blood
Thomas had the day off and you knew you wanted to spend it with him. You two became friends as kids and started dating when you were 15. Your parents never approved of you loving him on account of his facial deformities and the fact everyone thinks he's a bit slow. The boy just can't talk, doesn't mean he isn't smart. You packed up some food for the two of you and took him out to this lovely little park no one usually goes to. Thomas doesn't like being around a lot of people and you don't push it. The most you'll do is take him into town for a little bit while you run into a store.
You set up a blanket, put out the food and popped open some sodas for the two of you. People always give him weird looks for his mask but you could care less about what he wears. Sure he’s a huge man but he’s real sweet if you get to know him. Despite what most of his family’s like. “So Tommy my daddy went out to New York for a trip and he brought me back these sweet pair of shoes and some sweet pants. They’re this lovely purple color and I can’t wait to wear them out in town. He talked all about the big buildings and the busy streets. Oh and there’s this underground train that goes all over the state and take you places. It’s so neat.” Thomas has a smile on his face as he listens to you talk about his trip. He loves hearing your voice.
“Would you wanna go there some day? I can take ya. Daddy said there’s all kinds of people there. There’s this part of it called Chinatown full of Chinese people. He saw people with bright pink hair and tattoos and I’m sure no one would bat an eye if they saw you. You’ll fit right in.” You take a sip of your soda and Thomas thinks for a bit. As long as he comes back home he’ll go anywhere with you. He nods and your smile grows. “Oh that’s wonderful to hear. I’m sure you’d love to see the world, but I promise we’ll always come back. I know how important home is to you.” He nods and writes something down in a journal he brought with him. He often writes things on paper if he has something to say to you. ‘Home is very important’ it says.
“Of course Tommy. But as long as you’re with me I’ll be at home.” You grab his hand and give it a good squeeze. The moment is broken up when you hear a truck pull up. You look over and see trouble. Danny, Oliver and Dale hop out. These guy are trouble. You and Thomas stand up and Danny has a wicked looking smile on his face.
“Guess the freak shows in town this week boys.” His friends laugh and you cross your arms.
“How about you beat it Danny. We don’t want some spoiled brat to ruin our day.” Tommy is getting nervous. You give him a ‘I can handle it look’ and go back to Danny.
“Wow the little freaks toy wants to talk shit? I know you don’t have the guts to back up that tough talkin.” He takes a step towards you, you take one towards him.
“His name is Thomas. Maybe if you took a bath once in awhile you’d be able to hear me. If anyone’s a freak here it’s you.” His smile only grows and you can tell he’s really enjoying himself.
“That thing shouldn’t have a name. It belongs dead on the table in the slaughter house it works at. You morons should leave town and save everyone some trouble.” You feel rage bubble in your chest.
“We’ll leave when you stop fucking your sister. Everyone can hear you at night pumping away. Oh and let me tell you she says I’m way better in bed then you ever were.” Danny’s face goes red and he punches you straight in the nose. You stumble back a bit and feel warm blood pour out. You see the smug look on his face and you’ve had it. You jump on top of him and the two of you exchange blows on the ground. Small rocks and broken glass tear at your body while you try to pin him down. He hits your face and chest over and over and you hit him back. You get him good in the eye and on the lip. The last blow comes from you when you hit his jaw so hard a tooth is knocked loose.
You get off of him, your face and body bloody and bruised. Blood is pouring out of his mouth and you see the tooth laying on the ground. Thomas quickly rushes over to you and checks your body. God he’s so worried about you. You watch as he stands up staggering. Dale and Oliver help him up, boy is he pissed. “You’re gonna pay for this you fucker!” He shouts at you.
“Just go ahead and leave before you get your shit rocked again mother fucker.” You nose is still bleeding and your cheek is busted. Thomas holds you close to him as the three of them get back in the truck and leave. Oliver flips you off as they drive away. Once their gone Thomas turns to look at you again. “I’ll be fine we just gotta clean me up. Let’s go back to your house ok?” He nods. You stand on your toes and give him a kiss on the cheek of his mask. You clean up the picnic and put a cloth you brought to your nose. You can feel it start to swell. Once you get back to the house Thomas takes you straight to his room and looks over you again. He plants kisses all over your face and hands, making you notice your bloodied knuckles. “I got him good huh Tommy. That’ll teach him to mess with people.”
He fetches a bowl of water, a rag and some medical wrap. He cleans up your cuts and wounds and wraps them up. Once your hands are wrapped up he kisses them all over again. “Tommy look at me please.” He looks up at you and you cup his face. you start to give him kisses all over his forehead and cheeks and a few on his leather lips. He sits on his bed and moves you on his lap. You cuddle into him and he lays down, you resting on top of him. All the pain washes away as you lay their with you amazing boyfriend
Jazz's Words of Wisdom
Written for Dannymay 2023 day 16 Prompt: Fangs Fandom: Danny Phantom Characters: Danny and Jazz Words: 623 Summary: Danny noticed he has a new addition growing and he doesn't really know how to feel about it. Luckily Jazz is there to set his head straight
Tumblr media
Danny’s tongue poked and prodded his mouth as he stared in the mirror. They feel weird and different, but a part of him feels like him. Like Dan. The idea that he could be like him in any way angered Danny. He knows he can’t get rid of them, but he could always make comparisons.
His fangs are smaller, kind of like a puppy's. Not a comparison that he could ever imagine himself making, but the idea that people won’t notice them unless they were actually trying to pay attention made him happy.
He didn’t have multiple sets like Dan did either. He only had one set. One fang on each side. Frostbite warned him that he might gain more in the future but he’s happy with these.
“Danny, what is taking you so long in there!” Jazz banged on the door. Normally Danny would roll his eyes, but spending so long in the bathroom just trying to make himself feel better wasn’t an ideal way to spend his time anyways so he quickly turned on the water, fake washing his hands as he opened the door to let Jazz in.
“Sorry Jazz,” Danny apologized, doing his best to talk without fully opening his mouth. He can accept the fangs as part of himself but he doesn’t want to actively show them off either.
Jazz narrowed her eyes at her little brother, but left the issue for the future.
Going back to his room Danny really shouldn’t but he grabbed a random mirror to continue looking at his fangs.
Poking them with his finger he felt one of them draw blood. Giving a small wince he took his finger out of his mouth to look at the mix of blood and ectoplasm coming out of his finger.
“That’s what you get for poking sharp things,” Jazz said, standing in his doorway.
“How long have you been there?” Danny asked, subtly wrapping his bleeding finger in his shirt.
“Long enough to see you be an idiot. Give me your finger,” she held out her hand, taking Danny’s finger and easily bandaging him up. “Ready to talk yet?”
“I have fangs,” Danny admitted, red covering his face.
“Yeah Danny you’ve had fangs for over a year now,” Jazz rolled her eyes, releasing his hand.
“What are you talking about!?” Danny asked.
“Danny, you've had the fangs for over a year. They were smaller at first. They’ve just gotten bigger since then and you’ve finally noticed. It’s never bothered me, Sam, or Tucker. You’re the only one really being bothered by it,” Jazz told him.
“They remind me of him,” Danny admitted, looking at the ground.
“Just because you have fangs it does not make you like Dan,” Danny flinched at the name. “You are your own person who makes your own decisions. You are my little brother and if there's one thing I can promise you it’s that you’re not evil,” Jazz promised him.
“But what if-” Danny was stopped by Jazz holding up her hand.
“No buts. Daniel Fenton, you are not whatever future self you think you are! Your looks do not change that. If I have to force Sam and Tucker on you I will. Not accept that they are just another part of what makes you well you!” Jazz yelled at him.
A small smile formed on Danny’s face as he looked toward his sister. “Thanks, Jazz. Really.”
“Anytime little brother. Now, how about some food? I’m hungry?” Jazz asked, walking out of the bedroom door, Danny happily following behind her.
His fangs might not be his favorite thing about his ghost powers, but he figured he can deal with it, as long as he has his friends by his side.
Teen Wolf fanfiction recs — Stiles/Danny
••••••
"How Stiles Stilinski Blocked His Own Shot (To Make-Out)" (T) by salvadore | 7,036 | Danny and Stiles played at marriage as kids, but it didn't end well. Stiles has the chance to make it right. Maybe.
"A Fever Moon" (E) by morphosyntactic | 4,649 | Danny has only ever been human, and he’s pretty sure there’s meant to be some kind of rule, an unwritten moral code of the gay scene: you are not obligated to be every straight boy’s experiment, you should leave them to work through their confusion alone. The thing is, though, Danny is one of just two guys who are out and proud in the whole school. Beacon Hills is a small town.
"The Stilinski Magic" (T) by kim47 | 921 | Stiles kisses Danny. Danny is somewhat confused by this.
"This Is Going To Be A Three 'Dude' Conversation" (M) by Dusk | 1,856 | "Dude," Jackson said, and Danny stopped what he was doing, because when Jackson started sentences with 'dude', he was either about to share something deeply personal or about to try and get them expelled for excessive pussy jokes, and Danny had problems with both of those options.
"Virgin State of Mind" (E) by recrudescence | 3,395 | Stiles needs to get laid or risk becoming the next virgin sacrifice. Fortunately, Danny is an altruistic kind of guy.
"Four Times Danny and Stiles Hooked Up, and One Time They Didn't" (E) by Chash | 1,056 | They're kind of friends at this point--Danny is, according to Stiles, the only other regular human in their group. Allison doesn't count because she's trained in combat, and Lydia apparently has magical immunity or something. So yeah, Stiles thinks this means he and Danny should be BFFs.
"At the Edges" (M) by anonymous | 93,895 | Jackson still won’t meet his eyes. “Do you want to know what’s going on?” he asks, finally, and Danny, even though he has had half a year to decide whether he wants the truth, even though he has been thinking about this since Scott McCall made first line, since that weird night in the club, since the boy he’d been crushing on disappeared, since a fuck-ton of death got shoved into a few short months, since Jackson died but actually didn’t, since Stiles came to school with his face black and blue and Lydia had stood in the middle of a hallway and catcalled at him, and Stiles had laughed—not blushed, not flailed, but laughed—since the whole school turned on its head, Danny has been deciding whether he wants to know.
"Next Thursday" (T) by wldnst | 18,210 | In which Stiles Stilinski has a werewolf for a best friend, a support group for that, hot chocolate with Lydia Martin and Danny Mahealani every Thursday evening, and an extremely anticlimactic coming out experience.
"You Taste Like Glitter" (T) by dizzzylu | 4,247 | There was a time in Danny's life when he'd have sworn he had better things to do than sit in a club and check out the latest guy his ex is trying to hook up with. That is not the case tonight.
"Buoyancy" (M) by ethrosdemonforreal | 14,548 | Danny crushes on people he shouldn’t. He figures everyone does. The awkwardness is universal. He can usually play it cool because he’s had so much practice. Usually he’d turn to Jackson to be mocked out of self-pity. Jackson’s good at reminding Danny to just be human and not set his expectations for himself too high. Yeah, that won’t work here.
"i never conquered, rarely came" (E) by nicheinhischest | 5,893 | “Um,” Stiles’ legs are jittery, bouncing up and down on the toes of his shoes in an effort to curb his nerves. “Did you know if you Google search ‘first time anal sex’ you get forty-nine million results -” Danny closes his eyes. “Stiles, do you ever shut up even a little.” “No,” Stiles says exasperatedly. “I don’t, actually.”
"Blood Pounding in Our Veins" (M) by minusoneday | 41,305 | Stiles figured that Mrs. McCall finding out Scott’s secret would change things, but he’s completely unprepared for the very first thing she does, which is to invite Isaac to move in with her and Scott.
"Pink Lemonade" (T) by luulapants | 999 | It wasn’t that he was into Stilinski. Of course not. He’d hardly seen the little bastard since high school, both of them flitting in and out of Beacon Hills at mismatched intervals. It was partly that someone had, apparently, helped Stiles “dress for the occasion” of a gay club: skin-tight black tank top and honest-to-god white leather pants. It should have looked ridiculous. It did! And Danny wasn’t into Stilinski, especially not in that. If anything, it was cultural appropriation.
"Just a social construct" (E) by queerly_it_is | 2,073 | "I really was kidding," Danny says. It'd be more of a put-down if it wasn't said against Stiles' mouth, if his hands weren't on Stiles' hips while Stiles just sort of twitches against the wall he's being pressed into. He mumbles back, "I really wasn't," trying to get Danny to use more tongue. Stiles is maybe already a little addicted to Danny's tongue. It's a problem.
I will add more as I find them.
🎮 💓 🎶 💝 💬
dude you know about which son of a 🐝 I'm asking for
Lmao of course I know. I'm gonna go off of current time, not his time line, cuz he grew up in the 70s - 80s and that doesn't give me a lot to work with.
🎮 - What’s their favorite game?
If Danny was in the present he'd probably be a DBD killer main, someone that rages. Other than that he'd like to play red dead redemption.
💓 - What are some signs they’ve fallen for someone? How do they show their affection?
He gets possessive. He has heart eyes for anything they do and he'll protect them with everything he's got. He's also not the brightest when it comes to being romantic in a practical way but he'll buy them gifts as a form of affection.
🎶 - What’s a song they really like?
I see Danny as a Jazz and metal guy. I feel like in general he'd like the Ink Spots and bands like Iron Maiden and Megadeth. I'd say a song he really likes is Master of Puppets.
💝 - What gestures do they really appreciate? How do you get on their good side?
Danny likes simple and weird things. If you got him a little treat or made him good he'd already feel special. To get on his good side you just have to be open about either being as crazy as him or being perfectly okay with how he is, and even encourage him. Things like "Go relax, I'll clean the blood off your clothes" is something he'd immediately fall in love with someone for.
💬 - What are some filler/buffer words they use? (Like, um, etc.)
He uses 'Fuck' a lot. Fuck and 'uh'
Chapter Two: That Was a Long Day
Friday, November 11th, 1983
It had been almost a week since Will had gone missing, they had a funeral and everything. Dustin had told Danny that it wasn’t true, Will wasn’t dead. Danny shouldn’t have believed him, but she did. The look in Dustin's eyes, his tone, it must be true. Something wasn’t right. No body for Barb had turned up yet, and Danny was starting to doubt one would. Nancy couldn’t think about anything other than Barb, understandably. Leaving Steve, alone to wallow in his thoughts and feelings. Danny just wanted Dustin to be safe. She wanted Lucas to be safe. She wanted Mike to be safe. She wanted Will to be alive. Mrs. Henderson wasn’t helping make matters much better. Every night since Monday she rambled on to her and Dustin about staying safe, about coming home, about sticking together. And though she was just a worried mother, Danny and Dustin were starting to suffocate. Danny stood in front of Dustin’s door, forehead leaning against it, finally, with a sigh, she knocked quietly.
“Come in,” Dustin said quietly.
Danny turned the knob, and closed the door behind her, not wanting their mother to interrupt. “Hey man,” Danny smiled. Dustin sat leaned over his desk working on homework. “Homework? They’re not letting you get out of it?”
“Mrs. Grabowski doesn’t let up,” Dustin sighed.
“Oh my god, she’s still there?” Danny exhausted.
“Uh huh, and still making my life a living hell,” Dustin replied.
“How are you?”
Dustin hadn’t cried at the funeral, none of the boys did. Afterwards they went out together and Dustin hadn’t come home until after dark. “I’m totally fine,” he said nonchalantly.
“Bullshit,” Danny replied.
“Will isn’t dead, he’s just not here,” Dustin sighed.
“I know I know. I believe you Dustin, I’d believe you just about over anyone. But you gotta give me something here,” she kneeled onto her knees to meet him eye to eye. “Tell me what’s going on.”
“It’s not that easy,” Dustin whined.
“Dustin,” she warned.
“Okay fine. But you can’t say anything, you can’t tell anyone, got it?” Dustin looked to make sure his door was shut.
“Not a word,” Danny promised.
“Okay,” Dustin sighed, putting his pencil down.
Dustin went on to explain El, Hawkins Lab, and all the other weird and spooky shit going on with him and his friends.
“Jesus H. Christ Dustin!”
“Keep your voice down Danny!”
“You have to tell me this kinda shit Dustin.”
“I know I know, I’m sorry, it’s insane isn’t it? Kinda cool.” Dustin said with a small smile.
“Yeah it is,” she agreed. “But also terrifying,” she scolded.
“Not a word to anyone, especially not Mom.”
“What do I look like, an amateur?”
Saturday, November 12th, 1983
Dustin had left the house for the day quite a while ago, Danny couldn’t think of many good ways to waste her time. She had the day off, her manager at the record store gave her some grieving days. She was tempted to go with Dustin when he left, but decided against it. He said they were still looking for El, and he would call if he needed her. She could go hang out with Nancy, no she was probably busy. For a moment, calling Barb crossed her mind. Maybe Jonathan or Eddie, they couldn’t possibly be doing anything. Steve. The back of her mind told her. No. Nancy had told Danny at the funeral that Steve hadn’t been very understanding of what was going on. She was attempting to avoid him. Then, Nancy and Jonathan had disappeared after the funeral, Danny hadn’t heard anything since.
“Going out for a bit Mom,” Danny hollered down the hall, grabbing her keys and jacket.
“Don’t be out too late!” Her mom called back from the living room.
Maybe she’ll go looking around for Dustin, but out of pure habit she stopped at the Fair Mart convenience store for some snacks.
As she slowly browsed the drinks she saw the familiar car of Tommy H. pull into a parking spot. “Shit,” she whispered to herself, ducking behind a back aisle. The bell rang as Tommy H. and Carol walked inside.
“I can’t believe Steve got his ass handed to him by that pussy Byers,” Tommy H. spat.
“I can, he’s such a baby,” Carol commented nonchalantly. “What’s it matter anyways? The cops got to him.”
“Yeah, which means we’re in trouble too,” a rude tone fell through towards his girlfriend.
“Whatever,” Carol mumbled. “That idiot will need some pain killers also,” she pointed out.  Danny didn’t like the way Carol said that, like she meant it. She had heard Nancy call him that before, but it was always in a swoon and an endearing way. The couple checked out and Danny quickly walked to the counter.
“Can I borrow that?” She pointed at the desktop landline phone. The cashier mumbled in agreement. “Great thanks,” Danny grabbed the phone and cord, tugging it outside as far as she could, dialing as she stumbled along.
First to notice her was Carol, she chewed her gum, staring at her, not saying a word. Next was Steve, who was currently held against Tommy’s car by its owner. He didn’t say anything either.
“Hey asshole!” Danny called. Tommy H. turned towards her, a look somewhere between surprised and finding the audacity across his face. “Yeah you, asshole.”
“What the hell do you want, freak? I’m a little busy,” he pushed at Steve, gripping his collar.
“Hi Flo,” Danny said sweetly. “One second,” Danny moved the phone away. “I would leave if I were you,” Danny warned.
“You’re a real bitch you know that?” Tommy grumbled at her.
“Takes one to know one,” she smiled, Carol rolled her eyes.
All Steve could think about was Why is Danny Henderson trying to help me?
“Get out of here Tommy, I’m warning you,” she shook the phone. Tommy didn’t move. “Hi, sorry about that Flo. I am at the Fair Mart right now and Tommy Hagan is here beating up some poor kid. I overheard him saying he was just running from the deputies ‘cause of beating up Jonathan Byers? Something like that,” there was some silence from Danny listening. “Okay great, no rush really,” Danny smiled. She read the numbers off of his license plate to Flo. “Okay, uh huh, okay bye-bye,” She hung up the phone.
“Bitch,” Tommy gave Steve one last shove and got into his car with Carol. “This isn’t over Harrington, and you, you’re dead Henderson,” he pointed.
“Yeah yeah, you too,” Danny waved.
Steve stared as they skidded out of the small parking lot, as Danny put the phone back inside.
“Fuck,” he mumbled to himself. Danny waited for him to acknowledge her. He turned towards her.
“Hey,” she scrunched up her nose, squinted her eyes, and held her hands behind her back.
“Jesus, hi,” he ran a hand through his hair. “Um, thanks for that,” he said sheepishly.
“I can give you a ride home if you need it,” Danny offered.
“Are you sure? I could call someone.”
“No, that’s okay, I’m not busy, c’mon,” Danny gave him a soft smile.
The car ride was quiet. But in a soft way. The radio played quietly, as both parties sat silently. “So,” Danny sighed. Steve had been watching her drive for a few minutes, studying the way she was chewing her cheek and lips. “What uh, what happened?” She glanced at him, his face bashed in.
“It’s stupid,” he replied. Danny waited for him to explain.
“I uh, fuck,” he said harshly to himself. “Last night I went to apologize to Nance for being an asshole, I haven’t been very cool about,” he paused. “The whole Barb thing,” he could barely say it. “And I saw Nance w-with Jonathan Byers, in her room, in retrospect they weren’t doing anything. And even if they were, I shouldn’t have done what I did, even if it was Tommy’s idea” He took a long moment of silence.
“And what did you do?”
“I, well Tommy, but me too, spray painted on the marquee... ‘Nancy “the slut” Wheeler’.”
“Jesus fucking Christ Harrington,” Danny replied.
“I know, I’m an idiot. And she saw, and so did Jonathan. We got into a fight, hence the face,” he sounded sad, hurt.
“I’d hate to see Jonathan right now,” Danny mumbled.
“He’s fine, I barely got him,” Steve admitted, though he would never do that again. Danny smiled, and then a small laugh was accidentally let out. “Did you just laugh at me?” Steve tried to hold back a smile.
“Steve Harrington, you're an asshole.” The way Danny said it reminded Steve of Nancy. The way Nancy would call him an idiot. “And I can’t believe Jonathan Byers kicked your ass,” she laughed again. “I hope you plan on apologizing to both of them,” Danny said sternly.
“Of course, I’m going to,” he replied. “Actually, can you stop here, really quick,” Steve asked politely. Danny realized they were driving by the Marquee.
“Yeah of course,” she parked the car.
“I won’t be long, I promise,” he told her as he exited the car.
Danny waited on the hood of her car, watching the clouds go by. Her eyes drifted to Steve, on a ladder, wiping the graffiti off. She smiled to herself. He’s not so bad after all that.
Danny finished taking Steve home, it already looked empty and cold from the outside. There were no other cars. It was dark out now.
“My parents are out of town again, almost every weekend,” he said as if he was reading her mind. Danny looked at his bloodied face.
“Do you need help?”
“What?”
“With cleaning that off, I hate to have to have to clean something off like that myself. I was just wondering if you wanted a hand?”
“Um, sure,” Steve replied. “Come on in.”
Danny slowly followed Steve to his bedroom. His house was even larger on the inside it felt like. Danny had only been there once before, for a party, and it was so crowded you couldn’t tell how big it was. She glanced at the pictures of the family hanging on the wall, just of Steve and his parents, no one was smiling. Unlike the Henderson photos where Danny and Dustin made sure to put on the best show for their mom.
“Oh Jesus,” Danny said, stepping back as Steve let her into his bedroom.
“What?”
“This is the ugliest room I have ever seen,” Danny snorted.
“Hey, shut up,” Steve blushed.
“What is with the sad wallpaper and matching curtains? Oh my god, and like one photo of a car? What robot designed your room?”
“Ya’ know you can just leave if you don’t wanna be here,” Steve said, not so seriously.
“No no it’s fine, I’ll try to refrain from any more insults, but Jesus Christ Harrington,” Danny laughed.
“Whatever Henderson,” he mumbled, digging through his medicine cabinet for whatever he could find. “Here,” he pulled out an assortment of products. Danny quickly noted the Farrah Fawcett spray on his bathroom counter, which he also saw and threw under his sink, making it even more obvious.
Steve hopped up onto his counter. Danny started with a washcloth dosed in hot water and some soap. Her breath hitched as she stood in between Steve’s open legs, she buried the feeling and dabbed at his forehead. Steve let out a small hiss. Next she used some alcohol wipes.
“Why are you doing this?” Steve asked quietly.
“You can’t just let such a pretty face go to waste,” Danny chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.
Pretty? Steve thought.
“No I mean,” he let out a heavy sigh. “Why did you help me back there? With Tommy.”
“Because Nancy Wheeler has been one of my best friends since elementary school. And she likes you, a lot, and I wasn’t about to let you throw that away. Plus, I hate Tommy, he's a pain in my ass,” Danny explained.
“I’m sorry,” Steve admitted.
“Sorry for what?” Danny asked, confused.
“For being a jerk to you. All these years, I should have never called you a freak or a loser, or anything. You didn’t deserve that. I’d probably be a better person if I hung out with people like you and not Tommy or Carol,” Steve said.
“Oh,” Danny was caught off guard. “It’s okay, there's worse than you, Harrington. Besides I always knew there was a softy somewhere in there,” Danny smiled at him, he smiled down at her. “There,” she wiped the last bit of dried blood off his nose.
Danny and Steve almost jumped at the sudden noise of his phone ringing. “I got it,” he said, jumping off the counter and grabbing the phone from his desk. It was one of those fancy cordless ones. “Harrington residence,” Steve answered. Danny rolled her eyes.
“Nancy, hi,” his voice sounded so light and fluttery. “Yeah, yeah I’m okay, are you?” He listened to her. “Danny gave me a ride home, look I’m so sorry,” he got cut off. “You want to talk to Danny? Yeah she’s still here,” Steve awkwardly handed the phone off to Danny. Danny took the phone and ran out of the room, shutting his door behind her, and quickly sat on the staircase.
“Nancy?”
“Danny? What are you doing?”
“I gave Steve a ride home from the store and I was cleaning off his face. I can’t believe Jonathan did that,” Danny stifled a laugh.
“I know I can’t believe it either,” Nancy sounded like she was smiling. “Listen-oh wait, it’s Dustin he wants to talk to you.”
“Wait Dustin?”
“Danny!”
“Dustin what’s going on,” Danny asked.
“I’m at Will’s house, we all are,” Dustin explained.
“Like Nancy and Jonathan too?” “Yeah, and El!”
“So they know?” Danny said in a hushed tone.
“Yes, but we need your help.”
“Okay,” Danny said seriously.
“You gotta meet us at the middle school, as soon as you can, okay?”
“Okay Dustin, I’m on my way,” Danny stood, heading back to Steve’s room. Dustin hung up the phone before Nancy could talk to Steve again. “Hey, I have to go,” Danny said in a rush.
“Wait a second, I am so confused right now. What’s going on?”
“Nothing it’s fine, um,” Danny tried thinking of a lie. “Nancy just wants to hang out,” Danny shrugged.
“Okay, but-”
“Bye Steve, I’ll see you later, okay?”
“Okay, bye,” Steve said, sounding sad, and still confused.
Danny stood outside of Hawkins Middle School, dead of night, cigarette lit in her mouth, making her face glow. She just witnessed a little girl, her brother's age, apparently from Hawkins Lab with mind control powers, like some wizard, use a kiddie pool and a bunch of salt as a deprivation tank, to find where Will was in some evil alternate dimension. Not dead Will either, totally alive. Wild. Joyce and Chief Hopper went to find Will in the “Upside Down”, while Jonathan and Nancy disappeared to fight off the so-called demogorgon. Danny was half expecting to wake up from this crazy dream, and if that was the case was about to campaign the hell out of a D&D session. The boys and El were still inside, probably raiding the cafeteria kitchen.
Danny’s ears perked at the sound of tires driving up the main road. Headlights quickly, and blindingly came into view. Danny ducked down behind some short bushes. She held her breath as the car came to a halt. “Danny?” Came the voice of Steve Harrington. Danny scrunched her face in disappointment of being caught, and slowly stood.
“Oh hey Steve!” She said cheerfully.
“I went over to Nancy’s, and neither of you were there and her parents were acting weird,” he said from his car, his voice grew quieter when he noticed the lights on in the middle school. His words slowed, “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, I was just going out for a run, what are you doing?”
“Right,” he said, looking at the cigarette in her mouth, her torn jeans, a faded t-shirt, and a large army jacket. “I’m on my way to Jonathan’s, I need to apologize.”
Danny’s eyes grew wide, “Steve, that's not a good idea.”
“What, why?” Steve asked.
“Steve really, just listen to me. Don’t go over there right now.”
“What is going on? You’re acting really weird Danny,” he scoffed.
“Seriously Steve, go home,” she warned.
“Listen,” he sighed, rubbing his face. “I gotta go, and you’re the one I think needs to go home,” Steve said, starting to drive away.
“Shit, shit, shit,” Danny chanted as she ran into the school, tripping on her way in.
“Dustin!” She cried out.
“Yeah?” He called back, he was in the cafeteria kitchen.
“I’ve gotta go, but I’ll be back I promise, Steve is on his way to Johnathan and I gotta stop him,” she panted.
“Oh shit, that’s not good.”
“I know, will you be okay?” Dustin nodded his head.
“Oh yeah, what were you doing at Steve’s house earlier anyway?” Dustin asked, Lucas looked up at her from one of the refrigerators.
“Not now Dustin,” she replied, annoyed. “Okay, I’ll be right back, I promise.”
Danny ran as fast as she could, out to her car. Fumbling with the keys, after a few minutes she was tailing Steve. And it wasn’t long before they both pulled into the Byer’s driveway.
“Steve, seriously,” she protested through gritted teeth, pulling at his arm.
“What is your problem Danny?” He exclaimed before banging on the front door, yelling to Johnathan.
“Steve!” Danny said in a hushed tone. Nancy opened the door slightly.
“Hey, Nancy?”
“Nancy I swear I tried to stop him,” Danny said from behind him. After some argument, and seeing the cut on Nancy’s hand, Steve pushed his way into the house, Danny right behind him. Danny jumped when Nancy pulled a gun on Steve, telling him to leave. Knowing what they were waiting around for, she hurried into the kitchen to grab a knife and a frying pan.
“What is going on?!” Steve shouted, and that’s when a chunk of the ceiling came in, the demogorgon behind it. The four teens shouted, Nancy shooting at the monster.
“C’mon!” Nancy shouted, grabbing Danny, as Jonathan grabbed Steve as rushed into Will’s room, behind a shut door. They waited in silence, for that thing to come screeching down the hall, but nothing. Danny gripped the knife and frying pan tightly, trying to stay calm, her heart felt like it was going to explode out of her chest. Jonathan and Nancy crept down the hallway to an empty living room. Nancy convinced Steve to leave, Danny debated on leaving or not, to go back to the middle school.
Moments later the demogorgon was back, tackling Jonathan to the ground, the bat pushed across the ground. Nancy fired her gun, it was like it did nothing. Danny thwacked it across the head with the frying pan, just as she was rearing up for another swing, Steve hit it across the face with the bat. He led it down the hallway, repeatedly slashing at it with the bat, until it was in the trap and Jonathan could set fire to it. The four of them patiently watched the lights flicker through the house and outside, somehow knowing it wasn’t the demogorgon.
“Shit,” Danny mumbled and without another word rushed to her car. Tearing away to go check on her brother. Danny sped down the roads, praying to nothing that one of those things or that exact thing wasn’t anywhere near her brother or the others right now. As she pulled into the parking lot it was littered with tinted black cars. Danny rushed into, sprinting through the hallways, coming across a pile of dead bodies, the wall had been broken through. That thing was here. Danny followed the flickering lights.
“Eleven!” She heard Mike yell from a room.
Danny burst into the room, the three boys looking hurt and bewildered.
“Danny,” Dustin exhausted, falling into his sister's arms.
“I’m here Dustin, I’m here,” she held onto him. Naturally the two other boys took comfort in her presence, letting her hold them. “You’re safe, it's okay,” she spoke softly.
Danny’s leg bounced impatiently in the hospital waiting room, for any news on Will. Steve sat next to her. He kept glancing over at Nancy, the looks were not returned nor received. He looked down at her leg and firmly placed a hand on her knee. “It’ll be okay,” he reassured. She nodded, unable to look at him.
And it was, Will woke up, and after the boys were finished terrorizing him with hugs and stories, she gave him her own hug, tight and warm. “Glad to have you back,” she smiled at him.
After what felt like the longest week anyone had ever lived, everyone was back in school, sworn not to tell anyone about what had happened over the past week. It was like nothing had changed, except for the fact that Will was back, Barb was still missing, and Steve had changed seating in math and history from sitting in front of, to sitting next to Danny.
Putting the Blood in Blood Blossoms
Based on the Phic Phight prompt: Being Phantom makes the fits easier and faster, so when Danny feels the beginnings of an itch in the back of his throat, he quickly goes ghost. When the coughing starts, though, his lungs burn like they never have before, each hacking cough tearing his throat to shreds and each wheezing breath costing so, so much. Once it stops feeling like an Alien is trying to claw its way out of his chest does he carefully look past the tears in his eyes to see what he coughed up: blood blossom petals. (Hanahaki AU! Romantic or platonic works!) (from @a-closet-emo)
Being Phantom makes the fits easier and faster, so when Danny feels the beginnings of an itch in the back of his throat, he quickly goes ghost. When the coughing starts, though, his lungs burn like they never have before, each hacking cough tearing his throat to shreds and each wheezing breath costing so, so much. Only once it stops feeling like an Alien is trying to claw its way out of his chest does he carefully look past the tears in his eyes to see what he coughed up: blood blossom petals.
The feelings that rise in his throat are almost as suffocating as those faintly luminescent petals. Danny was never one to believe in signs, but even he thinks this must be one. Her favorite flowers are blood blossoms. Just one more thing she loves that will kill him. If that's not the harbinger of a doomed relationship, nothing is.
It isn't the first time Danny's had Hanahaki. It's not even the first time since Danny became a half-ghost. Most kids get it at least once during their adolescence, and it's easy enough to cure. All a person has to do is confess their feelings, and whether they're accepted or rejected, getting closure makes the flowers go away.
Only idiots and cowards keep their feelings bottled up once those flowers rise in their throats, and, contrary to popular belief, Danny is neither. As worried as he is about how Valerie will take it, he's got enough on his plate without poisonous flowers growing in his lungs. Even the harshest rejection would be better than this.
—————
"Valerie," Danny stopped her after class and gently pulled her to the side, away from everyone, "can I talk to you? It'll only take a second."
"Sure, what's up?"
"Uh..." Danny rubbed the back of his neck. "I like you."
"Like me? Are you sure?" she asked, and he chuckled.
"I've been coughing up some weird red flowers, so I'm pretty sure," he said.
She smiled and reached into her pocket. Out of it she pulled out a few, damp sunflower petals. "I like you too." She threw away the petals and held out her hand for him to take, and they walked to their next class hand in hand.
That should've been the end of it. Danny had his answer. The flowers should've withered and dissolved before the day was over as soon as he learned how she felt, and he was even lucky enough that she liked him back.
A hacking cough wracked through Danny's chest, but he knew not to transform this time. Even in his human form, the petals burned like none had before, and his muscles started to seize up from in reaction. Even when the coughing stopped, the fire in his lungs remained from the flowers still growing there. But why?
He'd confessed. She liked him back. So what was the issue?
"You still don't know how she feels." Danny jerked his head up when he heard his sister's voice. "You're dating her, but as long as she doesn't know you're Phantom, you'll never know how she really feels about you."
"Confessing my feelings is one thing, but I can't tell her that," he said, shaking his head. "She'll try to kill me. You know that, right?"
"And if you don't tell her, you'll die anyway," Jazz pointed out. "Sam told me about blood blossoms. Those things are growing inside you. Normally, Hanahaki isn't fatal for months, but as long as you're coughing up blood blossoms, you could die any day now. Not ghost dead, gone dead." Danny didn't have anything to say to that. She was right, after all.
"I'll figure something out," he said finally.
"You'd better do it fast. I don't want to lose my little brother."
Danny took a few days to think over a solution. There had to be a way to get rid of the flowers without ruining his relationship. Being with Valerie was easily the highlight of high school. She was smart, and fun, and interesting, and so protective of him. Even with her grumbling about wanting Phantom dead, he felt safe with her as long as he was human. He didn't want to give that up.
"You're really insane, you know that?" Sam told him flatly when she heard his plan. "I know you can't help your feelings, but why are you so intent on dating someone who wants you obliterated."
"I don't expect you to understand," Danny told her. "You've never had Hanahaki before, and you think romance is lame, but I'm really happy with Valerie. Can't I just want to be happy?"
"You're still insane," Sam scoffed, but she didn't try to stop him from going ghost and flying to Valerie.
The ghost she'd been after was safely contained in one of her ghost traps, and her hoverboard floated still in the air. Danny swallowed hard as he stopped behind her and cleared his throat. In an instant, she had no less than five ghost hunting weapons pointed directly at him.
"I don't want to fight," he said, raising his hands in surrender. "I just have something I need to get off my chest." Her body language showed that she was ready to fight anyway, and her black visor gave him no read on her emotions. Her weapons were still drawn and aimed, but she didn't fire.
"Talk fast," she sneered.
"I know we're enemies," he said, "but somehow... I've fallen in love with you anyway. I know that doesn't change how you feel about me, but I had to tell you."
"You're right," she said. "I still despise you as much as I always have."
"That's all I needed to hear," he said, and promptly vanished before she could start shooting. That was that. It was done. She knew he liked her as Danny, and she liked him back. She knew he liked her as Phantom, and she hated his guts. Her feelings were clear, his were out in the open. That should be the end of it.
So why? Why did his lungs still burn like this? The flowers were blooming even more than before. After a week, he was forced to skip school because he couldn't get out of bed, writhing in pain, vomiting up flowers that shredded his throat and poisoned him on the way up.
There was nothing for it. By all rights, his Hanahaki should have gone away when he confessed to her as Phantom. Actually, it should have gone away the first time he confessed his feelings, but for some reason, it didn't. And the fact that is hadn't killed him yet was a miracle. There was a knock on his bedroom door.
"Go away," he called out hoarsely. His voice was utterly destroyed by that point, so whoever was on the side probably hadn't heard him, or hadn't understood him. The hinges creaked as his door swung open, and there was Valerie.
"Danny?" she said. Her brows furrowed in concern as she looked at her boyfriend, dying on his bed. "You look like hell. You really are sick."
"Valerie?" he rasped. He opened his mouth to ask was she was doing there, but the tickle in his throat returned and he broke into a coughing fit, choking and wheezing as a whole flower tore up his trachea, leaving him convulsing in pain.
"Danny!" Valerie dropped the papers she was holding and rushed over to him, kneeling at his bedside. "What's... these are blood blossoms," she observed, picking one up. They were too obscure to be anyone else's favorite flowers, so they had to be for her. Sam Manson, maybe, but she was openly pro-ghost, so probably not. "Why are you still coughing up flowers? How long have you been like this?"
"Few weeks," Danny responded, his throat so wrecked that she had to lean in close to even hear him.
"A few weeks?" she repeated, shocked. "Danny, it takes months for Hanahaki to start doing this much damage! And why... you confessed, I like you back, why do you still have it?"
"The flowers," he wheezed. "Poison."
"No," Valerie shook her head. "No, blood blossoms are completely edible."
"Not for ghosts," Danny said, and another shuddering cough tore through him. Normally, after less than a month, the flowers wouldn't be coming nearly as fast, but his body was rejecting them even worse than was normal for Hanahaki. More petals spilled onto his bedroom floor. He knew what would happen if he transformed now, but he didn't have the voice to explain. He couldn't get the words out, even if he wanted to.
White rings flickered around his middle, and he screamed in agony as his transformation overtook him. It was tolerable in his human form, but in ghost form, the blood blossoms were truly unbearable.
"Danny..." Valerie breathed, her eyes wide with shock. He could see a thousand thought running through her head behind those eyes, but the next thing he knew, her arms were wrapped around him, Danny Phantom, her greatest enemy. "Danny, please, please turn back," she begged. "If you don't, they'll kill you faster. I... I love you. I don't want you to die."
She loved him.
She knew the truth, and she still loved him.
He started to cough again, hacking and choking. Valerie pulled away to help him into a sitting position and make it easier on him, but there were tears in her eyes. It went on for minutes, but when Danny could finally breathe again, the whole plant had been forced out of his lungs and onto his floor, damp with saliva and traces of blood and ectoplasm, and just as deadly on the outside of his body as it was within.
"Danny!" she shouted over his screams of pain as he fell back on his bed, seizing and writhing. She tried to drag him away and out of the room, but ghosts couldn't pass blood blossoms, and he was stuck there. She looked down that the flowers and back at Danny in a panic. "No! No no no!" She had to get rid of them somehow, or Danny was done for.
The window. She scooped up the flowers and loose petals and vines and she threw them all out Danny's window, ignoring the thorns, not leaving so much as a leaf behind. When, finally, the flowers were gone, Danny had calmed down.
"You're gonna be okay," she promised him, pulling him into a hug again. He returned to his human form in his arms and wrapped his weary arms around her. "You're gonna be okay."
"Valerie," he croaked, then coughed again from his damaged throat, though thankfully, there were no more petals to expel. "I love you, too." Tears dampened the shoulder on his shirt and she squeezed him tighter. This was the first time he'd ever seen her cry before, and it was for him.
Eventually, Danny fully recovered, and he explained his situation to her. She revealed that she already knew about half-ghosts because she'd seen Dani transform, and suspected that Phantom might be one, since they were clearly allies, but she wasn't sure.
"How could you fall in love with me, when I was always so cruel to you?" she asked. "I mean, I dedicated my life to destroying you as Phantom, liking me almost killed you."
"The heart wants what it wants?" Danny answered, sounding uncertain. "My parents try to kill me all the time." He shrugged. "I love them anyway. It's just not that big a deal to me, I guess. Valerie, you're the most amazing person I know. How could I not fall in love with you."
"Well, if it makes any difference, I won't try to kill you anymore."
Danny sighed dreamily. "You're such a romantic, you know that?"
"Shut up." She elbowed him gently. "I understand why you didn't tell me sooner, and I'm sorry."
Danny smiled and leaned into her side, cuddling up to her contentedly. Her body was a lot warmer than his, and he loved everything about it. "You didn't know."
There was no way she could have known without him telling her. Just like she didn't know the blood blossoms she'd thrown out his window would take root there, blocking the safest way out of his house, or that their aroma would waft up into his room, making him weak and giving him nightmares. She didn't know, and he didn't need to tell her. He just wanted to let himself be happy for once.
