Happy Birthday @wynnyfryd 🥰🥰🥰 I've had this idea floating around in my brain for a while now and seeing it was your birthday prompted me to finish it 💕
---
It's his first time in Indianapolis as an out bisexual, so of course Robin takes him to a gay club - to experience the drag queens and to see other queer people having fun, she says.
It's a little overwhelming, the bright lights and the music and the people. But he's having a great time, people watching and drinking virgin daiquiris and talking with Robin.
She's been here before - she came with Vickie when they were still together one weekend and they had a blast. So when Steve figured his sexuality shit out and came out to her, this was the first place she wanted to take him.
Now, he can see why. It's a haven of sorts. Gay men dancing together and kissing each other, gay women getting cozy in the booths, drag queen and drag kings about. He hasn't felt like he's belonged somewhere in a long time, but it kind of feels like he belongs here. The atmosphere is welcoming and kind.
They dance a little before everything gets overwhelming and then they find an empty booth to sit down and sip at their drinks in.
Robin keeps trying to encourage him to find someone to kiss so that they can call this night a success, but he keeps telling her that no one has caught his eye. And it's kind of true. He's seen some men that he thinks might be his type, but they're all paired up with men who look nothing like Steve. Even then, the few people that have caught his eye weren't right, somehow.
He keeps holding out, hoping to find someone that makes his heart skip a beat, or whatever the appropriate cliche for a gay club is.
And it. It happens.
He glances over at the bar as he's taking the last few sips of his drink, thinking about if he wants to brave the crowd at the bar, when he sees him.
His heart doesn't skip a beat, but he knows as soon as he lays eyes on him that he wants him. He's beautiful - and intimidating.
He's sitting facing away from the bar with his legs splayed open, ripped jeans revealing what looks like fishnet stockings underneath them. He's wearing a tank top that's showing off his many tattoos and Steve is struck with the urge to know what they taste like. His combat boots are clunky and could seriously kick someone's ass if they messed with him. His wavy hair is half tied up, a messy ponytail holding his hair out of his face, but the bottom half is freely falling past his shoulders.
He kind of feels like he's been bit by the love bug - he can't take his eyes off him.
He knows Robin is saying something to him, but he can't even hear it. It's all just background noise. He doesn't think he's ever been so captivated by someone before. He wants to put his mouth on him.
"Steve? Oh my god, stop ignoring me!" Robin says and snaps her fingers in front of his face, pulling him from his reverie. He looks over at her sheepishly.
"Sorry, Robbie," he says, looking back over at the guy briefly and yep, he's still just as hot as the first time he looked.
"What was that? Did you see someone you like? You looked like you blacked out for a minute there," she says, a smirk pulling at her lips.
He rolls his eyes. Of course she already knows - his type is people that look like they could stomp on him and he'd say thanks. "Black tank top, ripped jeans, at the bar. I think I'm in love," he says with a sigh. He's way too intimidated to go over there.
She squeals in his ear and says, "This is so exciting! You have to go kiss him now."
"Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm not just gonna go up to a stranger and ask if he'll be my first gay kiss."
"And why not?" she asks, stirring her drink.
"Because that's insane," he says. "He's probably already got someone. He's, he's gorgeous. There's no way he's here alone." It's a shame, but it's probably true - he's way too good looking to be here alone.
"There's only one way to find out," Robin says. She leans forward and whispers in his ear, a challenge of sorts.
"You can't be serious," he says to her, questioning his own sanity for even entertaining her for one second.
She leans back in and whispers more into his ear and he groans.
"You're diabolical," he tells her, pulling back to smack a kiss on her forehead. He stands up and takes a deep breath before marching over to the bar. He can't believe he's doing this.
He marches right up to the guy and immediately every word in his vocabulary is gone. He's so fucking pretty.
"Um. Uh, hi," he says, stupidly.
The guy bites his lip and grins at him. He says, "Hi," back to him and Steve is literally going to die, he thinks. He couldn't see it from across the club before, but this guy has a lip piercing, and Steve wants to know what it feels like against his mouth so fucking bad.
"I need you to kiss me," he blurts out, trying not to cringe.
"You need me to, to kiss you?" the guy asks, and this was a bad idea, the worst idea Robin's ever had. There's no way he's going to agree to this.
"So, my friend-" he stops, looking back at Robin - she waves at them. He's trying so hard not to blush as he turns back to the guy and says, "She bet me that I couldn't get a guy to kiss me since it's my first time here. So I was wondering if you would kiss me, so I can win the bet." He's steeling himself for rejection, for this guy to tell him to fuck off or maybe have mercy and let him down gently by telling him he's taken.
But he just smiles, tilting his head at Steve. "Why me?"
"Hmm?" Steve asks.
"Why me?" the guy asks again. "Out of all the guys here, you picked me. Why?"
Steve sputters for a second. "You, I mean. You have to know how you look, right? Like, you're gorgeous."
He grins again, tonguing at his lip ring and Steve is so down bad for him, it's actually insane. "Okay," he says. "I'll accept that answer. Now, if you get your kiss, you win your bet, but what's in it for me?"
Steve is hoping that if he's still talking to him, that means he actually has a shot. He's feeling dizzy with how much he wants to kiss him. He really fucking hopes he can kiss him.
He says, "A kiss?" with what he hopes is a charming - and not at all maniacal - grin.
The guy snorts. Rude. He snorts at Steve and says, "I think I'll need a little more that that, don't you think, sweetheart?"
Steve nods dumbly, says, "I'll split my winnings with you. Would that work?"
He's not expecting it to work, is the thing. He doesn't expect him to say yes.
Which is why he's so surprised when he reaches out and tugs Steve closer by the collar of his shirt. He did not know being yanked around was his thing, but apparently it is because good god.
"That works for me," the guy says, eyes going molten as he looks at Steve.
He can't believe that worked. Holy shit.
He's. He's nervous, he realizes. He's had a lot of first kisses, been on many first dates that ended in him kissing someone unfamiliar. But this is nerve-wracking for him in a way it hasn't been before.
He lets the guy pull him in further by his collar, lets him control when the kiss happens.
The first press of their lips has Steve sighing and opening his mouth slightly, wanting more, wanting to taste him. He kisses him, lets himself be kissed really. He opens his mouth more when a tongue snakes out and presses into his mouth.
Steve's hands come up to pull him closer, to pull - fuck, he doesn't even know his name, yet. He's doing this all wrong. He meant to get his name before shoving his tongue down his throat.
But it's good, the feeling of soft lips pressed against his, the cold metal of his piercing pressing against his mouth, his tongue stroking over Steve's in a way that makes him wish they were alone, wish they weren't here surrounding by all these people. He wants to kiss him and keep kissing him until the breath runs out of his lungs. He wants to put his hands on him, to dip his fingers into the rips in his jeans and feel the rough fishnets against his fingertips.
He pulls his mouth away to gasp out, "What's your name?" because he needs to know, needs to have some connection, some thread to hold onto, to grasp as they're kissing.
"Eddie," he whispers against Steve's mouth. "What's yours?" Eddie asks. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie.
"Steve," he says before pressing his mouth against Eddie's again. He wants to kiss him forever. He never wants to stop. He wants Eddie to keep licking into his mouth like he owns it until the bartender yells out that it's last call. He wants Eddie to keep holding him like this until Robin drags him away as they turn the lights on in the club to kick everyone out. He wants, he wants, he wants.
He gets a hand tangled in Eddie's hair and gets their heads tilted right so that they can lick deeper into each other's mouths. It's burning him up inside, the way their tongues are sliding together, the way Eddie's licking behind his teeth and sucking on his tongue like he's trying to taste the daiquiri he was drinking earlier.
Eddie tastes like tobacco and something sweet, like he was drinking something sweet before Steve came up to him too. God, Steve wants to know everything about him - what's his go-to drink order, does he smoke, does he prefer beer over mixed drinks, is he seeing anyone, please don't be seeing anyone, god.
He feels desperate, he feels out of control. He wants Eddie to take him apart like he's never wanted anything else in his life. He wants those hands on him, wants to feel the rings on his fingers pressing marks into his skin. He want his hands gripping his hips, sliding down and touching him. He doesn't think he's ever wanted like this.
The only reason they break apart is because someone's elbow ends up in Steve's back and he ends up pushed further into the crease of Eddie's thigh. He feels him hard against him and he knows Eddie can feel how hard he is too. Fuck, it's like everything else faded away when Eddie's mouth was on his, but now that they're not kissing, he's suddenly achingly aware that he's hard in his incredibly tight pants after making out with Eddie for god knows how long.
His face is probably red and sweaty, but Eddie's still looking at him like he wants him and god, does he want him back.
But he pulls back a little, puts some space between their hips because he quite literally can't ditch Robin here go hook up with Eddie, no matter how much he wants to.
He bites his lip and pulls his hand back, the one that was tangled in Eddie's long hair. He puts it on Eddie's chest and asks, "Was that okay?" because he thinks he knows the answer, but it never hurts to hear it.
Eddie huffs out a laugh and says, "Was that okay, he asks. Sweetheart, I think you and I both know that was something on a completely different realm from just okay."
If Steve wasn't blushing before, he definitely is now. He says, "Good, good. I'm glad we're on the same page."
Eddie leans close like he's going to kiss him again. He brushes his lips against Steve's in a dry press - barely a kiss, but it has Steve aching all the same anyway. He drags his mouth along his jaw, just mouthing at it, and it's the hottest thing Steve's ever felt.
He whispers in Steve's ear, "Your friend is trying really hard to get your attention right now," and that pulls Steve right back down to earth.
He pulls away again and turns around to see Robin waving her arms at him. He puts his hands on his hips and raises his eyebrows at her. She waves her hand at him, beckoning him back to their table so he holds up a finger to tell her to hold the fuck on.
He turns back around and says, "I think I'm being summoned. As much as I want to stay and as much as I, like, desperately want to keep kissing you, I should get back to my friend."
Eddie crosses his arms over his chest and leans back against the bar and Steve can't help the way his eyes sweep over him again. Eddie's smirking when he looks back up at him.
"That's fair," Eddie says. "So, what did we win?"
Steve makes a questioning sound, before he remembers what Eddie's talking about. He sheepishly brings a hand up to swipe his hair out of his face where its begun to stick to his forehead. "Oh, uh, about that. There never really was a bet."
"Really?" Eddie asks, leaning forward again into Steve space, like that's the most interesting thing he's heard all night.
Steve shakes his head. "I promised half of the winnings, but the winnings are zero, so half of zero is still zero, you know?"
Eddie grins at him and says, "You're kind of devious, you know that? Here I was, thinking I'd get a prize at the end of that kiss."
"Sorry for getting your hopes up, but I mean, it was a good kiss, right?" Steve asks, boldly leaning forward to press his mouth against Eddie's again. Eddie lets him, lets Steve kiss him, softer than before. Before it was all new and exciting and hot, and it still is, but this kiss is tender, pulling a gasp from Steve's lips when they separate.
"It was a good kiss," Eddie agrees, pecking him on the lips again, soft and sweet.
"Can I have your number?" Steve asks, trying to be brave for once. He got Eddie to kiss him, even if it was under less than truthful circumstances, but he hopes it was good enough to warrant a call back.
"Your friend, is she seeing anyone?" Eddie asks, and Steve's head is kind of spinning at the redirection there.
"She and her girlfriend broke up a couple months ago. Why?" he asks, wondering where this is going. If this guy is actually somehow straight and only kissed him to get with Robin, Steve's gonna lose it.
"I'll tell you what, if you can convince your friend to kiss my friend, you can have my number," Eddie says, gesturing to the girl that's been sitting next to him at the bar this entire time.
And- oh. Oh god, he's embarrassed.
Has she just been awkwardly sitting there while Eddie made out with him? He was half a second away from dry humping Eddie and his friend was sitting there patiently waiting for them to stop. That's embarrassing.
She's cute - she's got this whole cheery, bubblegum vibe to her that didn't make Steve glance twice at her once he had his eyes set on Eddie because the two of them are kind of polar opposites. He didn't think they were here together.
His eyes shift back and forth between them and she waggles her fingers at him in a wave, smirking at his caught out look.
"Chrissy," she says, sticking out her hand to shake Steve's. He's kind of intimidated by her too, but he's got to hand it to her - he doesn't think even Robin would sit through him making out with someone right next to her. He guesses he does kind of owe it to both her and Robin. He and Eddie were making out for a while.
"Steve," he says, lamely. "Sorry for making out with your friend right next to you. Um, I'm gonna go grab Robin now."
They both watch him as he leaves, which makes his skin prickle and his heartbeat speed up. He makes a beeline back to Robin and lets her coo at him for a minute about having his first gay kiss.
She's talking a mile a minute asking about how it was, if he got his number, when Steve interrupts her.
"Bobbin, you are not gonna believe this," he says, and when he's got her attention, he continues, "I think I just found you a girlfriend?"

summary: marc promised to be her friend forever.
year: 2017
you were playing with your dolls when you hear your mom call you. "Y/N! come down please, my friend and her son is coming over." she says.
you feel a jolt of excitement when you hear that your mom's friend has a son. you put down down the doll and go down the stairs.
"so, when is this boy gonna get here, mama?" you ask her, with excitement.
"they're going to be here right... now." she responded, then you hear a car parking.at the moment, your excitement is through the roof. as the door opens, you see a boy who's around your age and your mother's friend.
she and her hug and you smile.
then you turn your attention towards the boy.
"okay. Marc, go up to y/n's room and maybe you can even be friends!" the boy's mom says.
you look at the boy again and next thing, you two were sitting on your bed.
"uhm.. so my name is y/n, I like f/c (fav color), and.. that's it." you weren't used to this feeling.
"cool. I'm Marc. Marc Guiu. I like football.. and uhh, I like blue.." he was awkward as you were.
the atmosphere was.. filled with  awkwardness.
"so, do you like football?" Marc asks.
"yes. I play it in my free time." you reply.
marc began to smile.
"that's very cool. so, do you like messi?" you ask him.
"yeah! he's my idol." Marc replied.
next thing you found yourself having a 20 minute conversation between you and Marc.
"no way! you know how to board?" Marc asks excited.
"yep!" you reply.
then an idea perked up in your head.
"wait Marc, I have a suprise for you!" you tell him.
Marc was very interested now.
"but you have to close your eyes!"
"why?" Marc asks.
"because it's a suprise, silly!"
Marc did what you told him to and you looked around and about in your drawer. you take out a sun and moon friendship bracelet and keep it I your hands.
"ok, you can open them now!" you say.
Marc opens his eyes and looks happily at the bracelets.
"woah y/n.. did you make these?"
"yep! and this one's for you." you squeal, giving him the sun bracelet.
marc puts it on and admires it.
"ok Marc. no matter what happens, you have to promise that we'll be friends forever, to infinity and beyond." you sigh, seriously.
"I promise y/n. friends, forever." Marc looks up at you, and you two pinky promise on it.

you and Marc have been friends for about 3 years now. you got a text from Marc saying he wanted to meet with you.
and of course you couldn't say no so, you went to him and your's favorite spot.
you find Marc sitting on a bench, looking at his phone. in a rush, you speed towards that bench and look at your friend, who stared up at you.
"you wanted to talk?" you ask him.
Marc had a serious expression.
"y/n we need to talk." Marc says, standing up.
"what's up I'm listening." you reply, putting your hand on you hip.
Marc takes a deep breath before continuing.
"you know my girlfriend, Ona?" he asks.
"yeah. what about her?"
"she.. doesn't want me to be friends with you anymore." he says, a lot of guilt and sadness.
"huh?? I'm not understanding you??" you reply shocked.
"ona doesn't want me to see you again. she's afraid that I'll cheat on her and.. vice versa.."
you felt the need to cry right now. when you thought it could not get any worse, Marc took off the friendship bracelet you gave him in 2017.
he takes your hand, puts in the bracelet, and shoves your hand to your chest. Marc had tears in his eyes.
as much as he didn't want to, he had to.
"im sorry." he finished, before walking off.
when Marc was out of sight, you fell to the ground, crying.
your friend of 3 years had just unfriended you, just like that.
⋆𐙚₊˚⊹ ᡣ𐭩
year: 2024
marc: 18
y/n: 18
you were walking back home, happily as Barça won the match. you then hear someone calling your name.
he sounded familiar.
a boy with fluffy, brunette hair and piercings runs up to you.
wait a second, fluffy hair?
that reminded you of someone, but you don't know who. he caught up to you, huffing and puffing.
"uhm.. do I know you?" you ask hastily.
"yeah, it's me." the boy stands up, and he looked familiar.
"hold the fuck up.. Marc? Is that you..?" you ask, shocked.
"yep."
you two stare at eachother's before Marc speaks again.
"look y/n, I'm sorry about what happened 2 years ago. I know I broke our promise, and I felt like a dick after that. I should have never broke ties with you and just didn't listen to Ona. The point is, I missed you." Marc says.
you begin to tear up and you hug him.
the hug was a bit long, but you didn't care, all you wanted was Marc. and what Marc didn't know is that, you liked him.
you two pull apart, then begin to blush.
"I missed you too." you say, before leaning in slowly, and placed you lips on his.
you had finally shown your feelings after 2 years of not talking.
Marc ran his fingers through your hair and you did the same with him.
you two pull apart, blushing.
you then get a jolt of anxiety.
"wait.. what about Ona?" you ask him.
"dont worry. I broke up with Ona last year. So it's really no trouble at all." Marc laughs.
and you laugh along with him.
"good. never even liked Ona to begin with. so good riddance." you smirk at him.
"neither did I y/n. neither, did, I." he replies, and you two kiss yet again.

Do you trust your Captain? - a trust-fall exercise
---
Suga: Absolutely! Daichi's great, he'd catch any one of us.
*the most boring successful trust fall exercise in the world*
---
Iwaizumi: Mmmm.... Well.... I don't know....
Oikawa: Oh my god Iwachan just fall I'll catch you.
Iwaizumi: .... ngnnnn...
*Genuine shock that Oikawa catches him, like actual, genuine "oh my god you caught me?????"*
---
Tendou: Yeah? Of course? This is such a stupid prompt I mean watch this-
*literally doesn't even look behind him to check and falls way too early, forcing Ushijima to leap across the room to catch him, they both end up on the floor.*
Tendou: See? Easy.
Ushijima: Please do not do that again.
---
Kenma: Yeah? This is so lame. I dont need a trust exercise to prove I trust you.
Kuroo: Just fall, I'll catch you.
Kenma: Yeah I know, which is why it's not an exercise. You should be doing this with Yaku, I don't think he trusts you.
Kuroo: ... hey Yaku-
Yaku: Absolutely not you bastard you'll drop me on purpose.
Kuroo: ... he's not gonna do it. Come on, Kenma, just do it. Karasuno did it just fine I don't want to lose to them.
Kenma: Fine...
*Another extremely boring and predictably successful fall.*
---
Akaashi: It's not that I don't trust Bokuto, just that... well... I don't know, he can be a little...
Bokuto: I'd never let you get hurt! I'll catch you, I promise, no problem at all!
Akaashi: ... okay. I trust you.
*Akaashi goes to fall and Bokuto immediately gets distracted in the .2 seconds he had to be paying attention - Akaashi hits the ground.*
Akaashi:
Bokuto: I am so sorry!!! I promise it won't happen again, let's try again.
Akaashi:
---
Aone:
*Crushes Futakuchi (in his defense, he did catch him)*
---
Terushima: Wait... nobody?
Terushima: Not a single one of you will do this stupid exercise with me???
Hana: I think... I think they're just being precautious, given your tendency to...
Terushima: to what?
Hana: you know, just... you.
Terushima:
---
Kazuma: I'm sorry man, but you literally encourage us to trick the refs I wouldn't trust you with anything.
Daishou: But... but Nekoma did the challenge...
Isumi: Yeah.... sorry...
Kazuma: It's just not gonna work...
Daishou: ...
Mika: I'll trust fall with you...
Daishou:
Daishou: that's very nice but unfortunately I'm not your captain so it won't count.
Mika: Can we do it anyway...?
*The most adorable little trust fall that ends with Daishou giving everyone the middle finger.*
---
Atsumu: Hah! Obviously. Trusting Kita is like being asked if you trust that the sun is going to rise.
Osamu: Yeah that's barely a question. Kita's the ultimate reliable captain.
Aran: Yep. I'd do a trust fall with him.
Atsumu: I wanna go first, though.
Osamu: Oh, well, too bad, I was already here.
Atsumu: I'm the older twin, so I should get first go.
Aran: Well... I've known him longer!
Atsumu: I'm his favourite!
Osamu: You're not even mum's favourite, how could you be his?
Aran: Wait, guys - where is Kita?
Suna: Practice ended ten minutes ago? He left. Probably cleaning the locker room as usual.
Atsumu:
Osamu:
Aran: We should probably go help him.
Osamu: I'm getting the strangest feeling that Kita wouldn't trust fall us.
Suna: You think?

Robin stopped being surprised by Steve Harrington showing up at her bedroom window months ago. Jesus, there's a sentence her 16 year old self wouldn't fucking believe for a second. The Hair, climbing up the trellis her dad built for the roses her mom planted and then forgot about three months later? Yeah right, as if. But it turns out alternate dimensions and sci-fi movie monsters and Russian conspiracies in Bumfuck, Nowhere, USA are all real, so how surprising really is The King himself, collapsing through her window with all the grace of a baby giraffe, out of breath like he- holy shit, did he fucking run here?
"Dingus, did you run here? What the hell?"
"Had to- hang on, Jesus. Holy shit." He bends over, hands on his knees, panting like he just ran a marathon. Which, she guesses, he almost did.
"You have a car, you lunatic, what could possibly be so important?"
"Didn't think about it. Had to get here."
"Is someone dead?!" Oh fuck, Is the Upside Down back? Oh shit, oh no, it can't be back, right? Superhero girl closed the gates! Right?! Oh god, oh no, oh fuck, it's back, the Russians are back, they realized they couldn't let her live after what she's seen, her parents will never even know what happened to her, and they'll kill Dingus too, and dorky little Henderson, and that menace Erica, oh god, they're gonna die, and Hopper's gone and superhero girl is far away and she doesn't have superpowers anymore anyway, which is frankly bogus because what the hell, Robin never even got to hang out with a real live magic person before, which, ok, that's a selfish thought, but that's ok, we can think selfish thoughts and then set them aside and not act on them, thoughts are not actions, thoughts happen all the time without our consent, they don't determine our character-
"Bobs, you're spiraling. Nothing bad happened, I just realized something and I freaked out and I had to talk to you right away. Forgot to call. Sorry, I should have called. Ran straight out of the house. I don't even think my shoes match, what the fuck?"
She's gonna kill him, she really is.
She loves him so much.
"Jesus, you're insane. Sit, you absolute dweeb. I'm getting you some water, when I get back you can tell me what the hell is going on."
He's sitting on her bed when she gets back upstairs, staring at something in his hands. Christ, his hands are shaking. What the fuck, Dingus?
He takes the water and downs it in one go- ugh, sports guys- then flops onto his back and covers his eyes with a miserable groan.
"I know we've got the whole twin telepathy thing going on, bubba, but I'm gonna need at least a little bit to work with here. Give me something. Is it your parents? The kids? Uh, what was her name? From Thursday? Janice?"
"Janine, and no. Ugh. Here." The arm not covering his eyes flops out towards her, holding- ah. A zine. He had promised to drive up to Indy last weekend to the secret bookshop she told him about and get her some new ones, even though she couldn't go with him because her cousin Randy got caught cheating on his fiancée and her parents made her come with the rest of the family to help him move. Fucking Randy. Maybe he should make better choices, so the rest of them wouldn't have to clean up his messes. Jerk.
Anyway.
"Marked the page." Which, yep, there's a purple paper clip stuck to a page near the middle, because Steve knows how much she hates people who dogear books, even books that aren't really books at all, so he's been training himself out of it, because he's sort of the best. Again, 16 year old Robin would have her committed for thinking that, but here we are.
The pamphlet isn't one of the periodicals she sent him for, so he must have picked it up on his own. It looks handmade, just some folded sheets that look like they came out of a typewriter, bound with the kind of twine you can buy at the hardware store. It's called Awakenings. The page he's marked looks like a personal essay, no title, no real signature, just a pair of initials at the end of the page and a half of writing. She starts reading, trying to figure out what the hell spooked Steve so bad.
"I've always been normal. I've always had crushes on men, just like the other girls. There was never a feeling of "I'm different," or "Oh, this is wrong." There was never anything to think very hard about. I'd giggle and blush when the boys looked over at us on the playground, same as everyone else. Later on when I was older I looked at my poster of Harrison Ford, shirtless and hairy and sweating, and I touched myself, and it felt good, just like it was supposed to. I didn't mind thinking of my future husband, and our future kids, and the pretty house with the pretty garden we'd have, just like my parents have, just like they wanted for me. I was normal. Everything was fine.
I thought everything about me was normal. So I didn't understand why the other girls at sleepover parties would giggle and stop and say "Ew, gross!" when we practiced kissing. It felt nice! I wanted to keep going! But it seemed like no one else did. I didn't understand why none of them talked about getting butterflies in their stomach when Laura, who was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen, transferred in our senior year, why they seemed so angry at her. Those butterflies were what jealousy felt like, right? So why did the other girls seem to feel so different?
I made my first lesbian friend in college, on the very first day, right across the hall in my dorm. We sat next to each other at Orientation and I thought I'd never have another best friend that wonderful in my whole life, so I'd hold on to her with everything I had. She came out to me the night before Christmas break, hiding under the blankets in my dorm room with the twinkling lights glowing. She was so scared. I held her and told her I loved her no matter what, and she seemed so glad, to have someone to talk to.
When she talked about falling in love with girls, I was so confused. The way she described it sounded like what it felt like to have girlfriends, I was sure. I felt that all the time. I asked her if she was sure she was gay, and she looked so shocked and angry and hurt, and I didn't know how to fix it, so I tried to explain. That what she felt couldn't be liking girls, because I felt that too, and I was normal. I liked boys, so I couldn't be gay. I couldn't be.
I'm glad it was her I said all that to. If someone else had told me about being bisexual, I think I would have hated them. I would have cried, and screamed, and said horrible things. Because I wasn't gay, I was normal, and it was so scary to think that might be a lie. Thank God it was her, my best friend in the world, who I never want to lose. Thank God I listened.
Because I'm not normal. I'm queer. I like men, and I like women. I can love them both the same, but it doesn't matter anymore, because I love her. I love her, and she loves me, and I don't need to be normal anymore."
Robin's face feels wet, which probably means she's crying. She cries a lot, reading these sorts of stories, in the zines she has to keep hidden under her bed, or, these days, at Steve's house. It's never going to be her, she knows. Not here in Hawkins, but it still makes something ache deep inside her, like pressing on a bruise, but in a good way, seeing love happen to other people. People like her. Seeing that it can.
"So?"
Oh shit. Right, Dingus. They're about him right now. Something about this essay in particular freaked him out.
"Uh. It's. A nice essay? I'm glad things worked out for them?"
Stevie lets out a pathetic whine, sort of like back at Scoops when he earned a particularly bad tally on the You Suck board. "Robbiiiiiiieeeee!"
"I'm sorry! I think I'm missing something, what's wrong with this essay? I don't get it, bubba, I'm sorry. I need some context." She does feel bad. Usually she can pluck whatever's bothering him right out of his brain and into the light, where it almost never looks as bad, but she's at a loss right now.
He's got both hands over his face again, and his response is so muffled she can't make out a word.
"Try again in human sounds, please."
"Ugh! I thought everyone felt like that!"
Huh? "Felt like...what, exactly?"
"Like that!" He flails wildly at the pamphlet in her hands. He's sitting up now, hair all askew from tugging at it, and there's a vaguely worrying crazed look in his eye, like right before he tackled that guard. "Like kissing boys and girls both feel nice, and like seeing a handsome guy and feeling jealous of him makes my stomach flutter, and like having friends feels the same as having crushes! I thought that was just how everyone felt all the time!"
Oh.
Oh.
Oh no.
Poor Dingus! No wonder he panicked and ran here like a crazy person!
"Stevie, can I hug you? Please?" She's not much for physical touch most of the time, but Steve is, and also she's found in the last few months that she doesn't mind so much when it's him. She sort of understands why other people like hugs so much, if they always feel like hugging Steve feels for her. And she really thinks he needs to be hugged, right now.
He nods miserably. She drapes her arms around his shoulders and holds on as tight as she can, hauling him sideways until he's practically laying down on her. He clutches her back and buries his face in her shoulder. She can feel her neck getting wet with tears, a sensation that would normally make her want to claw off her own skin, but this isn't about her. Dingus needs her.
"It's ok, bubba. I'm so sorry. I know how scary this is. When I first figured out I had a crush on Linda Sanderson I cried so hard I threw up, you know? I get it. It's gonna be ok, I promise. We'll make it ok. We faced down evil Russians and giant meat monsters, what's a little sexuality crisis, huh? We got this! We're the goddamn Wonder Twins!"
He snorts at that, which she's pretty sure leaves snot on her neck, which. Ew. Still. Problems for Later Robin.
"We are not, Will and El are the Wonder Twins."
"Uh, nope, no chance, I barely even met them so therefore I am vetoing their application. Sorry kiddos, better luck next time! Find your own nickname, losers!"
Steve sits back, laughing, and she preens a little at being able to bring him back from the brink so easily. She loves him so much she feels like she's glowing with it, sometimes. It almost makes her wish she was straight, because what girl is she ever going to find who loves her this much? But only almost, because. Well. Girls, amiright? Phew.
"So what now, Stevie? You wanna say it out loud? That helps, sometimes. You wanna not say it out loud? You wanna go to a gay bar and find you a boy? You wanna never think about it again? It's totally your call."
"Say it out loud, huh?"
"Hm. It took me like a month, and then the first time I could only say it sitting in the back of my closet with the bedroom door locked and the closet door closed, and I could only whisper it. Just "I'm a lesbian," to myself, like the world's most ironic little goblin. And I had to throw up again after. But it did feel good, once I rinsed my mouth out, anyway. Cleansing, you know? And it gets easier every time." Steve's eyebrows are raised and he's chuckling again, so that's a win. She's not lying, but it is sort of funny, she supposes. In hindsight, anyway.
"Ok. Ok, I can do that. I think. Yeah, I can do that."
She's so proud of him. He's the bravest person she's ever met, she thinks. "You wanna get in the closet?"
"Isn't the whole point to come out of the closet, Robs?" He's smirking at her. Bastard. She whacks him in the shoulder on principle. He may be having a crisis, but he's still a jackass. Her favorite jackass in the whole world, but still.
"Har har, you're a regular Bob Hope. Alright then, bigshot, let's hear it."
A little of that fear creeps back onto his face, and she wishes she could wipe it off, but that's not how this works. They can't make the scary things less scary. He couldn't make the Russians less terrifying, but he could hold her hand and make her laugh and carry some of that fear with her. She can do that for him now, too.
She grabs his hand, and he clutches back tightly. He takes a deep breath.
"I'm...fuck. Ok. Ok, I can do this. I'm...bisexual." The air leaves him in a big whoosh, and he laughs a little. "Yeah, ok, fuck. I'm bisexual. Holy shit, Robbie, I'm bisexual!"
"Hell yeah you are!" She's grinning so hard her cheeks hurt. She's so fucking proud of him.
He's laughing again, a little hysterically, and he hugs her tight again, and she holds him back just as close and thinks oh, he's like me. I'm not alone. I have Steve, and he's like me, and he's mine forever and ever.
When they separate, she looks at him seriously.
"So do you, like, want this to be a thing? Because we can totally make it a thing, and like, get me a fake ID and go to a gay bar and do all kinds of wild shit if you want, but we don't have to, you know? If you need to just, like. Digest this, for a while. It's totally up to you, I just know it took me a while to feel ok with it, and I have no idea if it's different for you but I just want to be what you need, you know? You've been so good with me, and I've never had a queer friend before, so I don't know how, but I want to be just as good to you. You're my Dingus and I love you and I don't know how much of a gay guru I can be on account of, you know, I've never met any gay people besides me and the pretty lady at the bookstore but I couldn't even get real human words to come out of my mouth when I tried to talk to her so I don't think that counts, you know? But I still wanna help! Let me help!"
"Bobbie! Bobbie breathe, you're gonna pass out. I don't think I need a gay guru, I just need a gay best friend, and I have that, so I promise I'm good, ok? Promise. Also I love you too.”
She takes a deep breath, following his lead the way they worked out in the horrible days after Starcourt, when she couldn't sleep without him next to her, warm and alive and breathing, and even then she would wake up in the night with her breath coming short and her vision tunneling and Steve would hold her hand against his chest and breathe slowly, in and out, until she could follow him, and the world wasn't so terrible and scary and loud anymore.
She still thinks about that awful hour underground, thinking she was strapped to the corpse of a boy she never let become her friend, but Steve is always there now when she needs him, and he never complains when she grabs his wrist or puts her head on his chest to make absolutely sure that big, stupid heart is still beating.
When she's breathing normally again, he drops their joined hands down between them, toying idly with the chain linking her ring to her bracelet. "I think...I think I'm glad I said it, and I'm glad we talked about it, but can we maybe just...put it away, for a while? Like it's not...ugh. I guess this is kind of shitty to say, so like, hit me if you want, I guess, but I kind of don't think it matters right now?"
"No no, that makes perfect sense! Like, you still like girls, right?" He nods. "And you don't like. Have a crush on any boys right now. Or do you? Oh man if you do you have to tell me though, it's platonic soulmate law. It's in the bylaws, Steve, don't make me soulmate fine you!"
He laughs and shoves her face away. "Jesus, Rob, no! I don't have a crush on any guys, who would I even crush on in this town? We're not exactly swimming in eligible bachelors. I don't have a crush on anybody at all, I'd tell you, I swear. I know the rules!"
"Oh phew, good. You have to tell me when you do, though, I'm way excited to get you back for making fun of Tammy."
"It was the God's honest truth, Bobbie! She sings like a muppet!"
"Oh my god, shut up, Dingus! Ugh! As I was saying, you super duper have to tell me when you do, but for now, I think maybe you don't have to think about it really at all if you don't want. I mean, practically speaking, it's not really relevant to your everyday life, so we can totally revisit when that changes, but you don't have to like. Join a pride parade tomorrow, you know? You are you who are no matter what. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, especially not to me, not ever."
He leans his head on her shoulder, and she scritches her nails through his hair. It really has no right being as soft as it is, with the amount of hairspray he uses. It's frankly rude, is what it is.
"Thanks, Bobs. I think I'm just gonna put it away for now. It just...another thing to know about me, you know? Like, I'm bad at fighting people but good at fighting monsters, all my best friends are kids except you, I'm bi but it doesn't matter because there aren't any boys to date in Hawkins anyway. Plus my dad would kill me if he found out. Like actually kill me, not "oh geez I missed curfew, my dad's gonna kill me" type kill me, like I think he'd actually try and beat me to death. So there's really no reason to talk about it right now, you know?"
There's a pit of ice in her stomach, and she tightens her arm around him like she can keep him safe just by holding on tight enough. She hates how casually he said that, just like she hates how casually he always talks about how his parents treat him, like he honestly believes it's normal. "Jesus, Dingus. You know you can come here if you need, right? My parents love you, they already think we're getting married. They'd make you sleep in the guest room, but I could sneak you in here easy."
He snorts again. "We're totally gonna end up married for tax reasons anyway, we're never beating the rumors." That makes her snort, too. He's not wrong, though. She isn't going to be allowed to have a wife anytime soon, and if she has to choose someone to be her next of kin, it's always gonna be him. They're planning to move in together when she goes to school next year anyway. No one is ever gonna believe them that they aren't dating, but that's...fine. Honestly, there are worse things. Better to have Steve by her side than not, and if no one else understands them, well, they understand each other, don't they? That's more than enough.
"Yeah, I know I can come here if I need, Robs. It's fine mostly, I swear. They're not home until Christmas anyway."
He takes another deep breath, like he's settling himself. "I'm just glad we talked about it. I feel better now."
She cards her fingers through his hair again, basking in the feeling of her favorite person so close, and so content. "I'm glad, Dingus."
They're alive, and they're together, and they're queer, and neither of them is ever going to have to be alone again.
"Hang on, did you say you've kissed girls and boys?!"

Not an Asshole (Mark Hoffman x GN!Reader)
-·=»◆‡«=·-♡·=»◆‡«=·-
"Ah!"
You suck air through your teeth and cradle an ice pack against one side of your head while thick yet curiously nimble fingers work at the laceration on the other side. Mark has removed his suit jacket and rolled up his sleeves. Things would be different if your vision wasn't still skewed from the tussle. For one, you'd be fixing your wound yourself. Also... you'd be able to better glimpse at Mark's face while he focuses on his work. His brow furrows differently than normal when he focuses, like the usual scowl is a front and this is him in his element.
"Am I gonna have to report this?" he grumbles, setting aside a bloodied alcohol wipe and readying a suture.
"I'm probably the last person you wanna ask."
"Why?"
He's mumbling, clearly looking to fill the silent space. You indulge him.
"Because you know what I'm gonna say."
"That I shouldn't report it?"
"Yep."
"You broke a pretty strict code of conduct," he murmurs so quietly it almost registers as a hum.
You had, in fact, broken quite a few codes of conduct, and in public no less. There's a reason you're in your apartment and not the hospital.
"He had it coming."
Mark 'tsked'. "Still."
You smirk. He agrees with you.
"Get that smile off your face. He's gonna run straight to the chief and tell. I give you a day, if that. Hold still; this is gonna hurt."
You clench your teeth and grip your whiskey glass so hard you're afraid it might shatter in your hand, and then Mark will have even more to clean up. He begins your sitches and you take a shaky sip.
"Still," he scolds you like you're a disobedient animal. You roll your eyes.
"Just take me out back and shoot me."
"You're so dramatic. They're stitches."
"Yeah, and they fucking hurt."
"Well, you fucking earned em, didn't you, Ace?"
Ace. Your nickname, or rather, his nickname for you. Because no one else called you Ace. It started out mean, critical. You were, after all, a rookie, and he your mentor. He was allowed to say basically whatever he wanted to you, and in the beginning, he did. He said things that had you crying in your car as soon as you were out of sight. Any stress, he took out on you. Even the shit that probably wasn't even related to work- it ended up on your shoulders.
It was like that for a while. Then, something changed.
To put it simply, you had saved his life. He was caught unawares, him, and you managed to talk the perpetrator down. More than that, you'd been stupid, deliberately putting yourself in harm's way just to save Hoffman from a beating or maybe a bullet.
So you're Ace. Hotshot, hotheaded. Everything Mark was before you entered the picture. Now, he finds himself taking on some kind of new role to balance you out, though he's not exactly sure what it is or how much he likes it.
"Not my proudest moment, admittedly," you say with a pained groan as Mark pulls the sitches through.
"I'd really hope a bar fight with Eric Matthews was not your proudest moment, no."
"It wasn't a bar fight."
"Ace-"
"It was outside the bar and he threw the first punch."
"He missed."
"Yeah, the first swing."
"I don't feel like arguing about this- hold still unless you wanna lose an eye."
Begrudgingly, you seal your mouth as he manages the last stitch. He pulls a particularly sensitive piece of skin, or maybe sends the needle a little too deep because you hiss and shoot a hand out to clutch his leg.
"Sorry," he mutters. You can't see him, but you feel his eyes hot on your hand and you pull it away, trying and failing to mumble an apology of your own. Even though he's literally sewing your skin closed, the hand to thigh contact is somehow the most intimate thing that's ever happened.
And you have to admit: you maybe had the occasional fantasy about Mark. It couldn't be helped. He's a man in a position of power and you have enough childhood whatever that it has a certain draw. But in any of those fantasies, it's you playing doctor to him. He's the more notorious hothead, after all.
"You're probably mad I'm stealing your title," you half joke. He snips the suture and dabs at it lightly with a fresh alcohol wipe.
"Oh yeah? You think you're gonna make head detective?"
The first part of your response is a gut reaction. "God no. I meant as the biggest asshole in the precinct."
His hands slow, and for a moment, though you're still coming down from your near blackout-level of drunkenness, you're scared you offended him.
"You're not an asshole, Ace. Well, maybe sometimes. But your heart's in the right place."
You're never one for serious or genuine conversations. You always want to leave a conversation with a joke or snarky remark. But here, now...
"And yours isn't?"
After a moment, he sighs and turns himself away. You're sitting on your kitchen counter and he's on a barstool. Even with these levels, he's as tall as you. You kick your legs as he stands.
"This isn't about me."
You hop down from the counter. "I think it is about you as much as it is about me."
He shoots you a grim look. "How do you figure that?"
"Come on. Matthews is pissed that you're good at your job, and by extension, I'm occasionally good at my job."
"That's vanity," he quips.
"But am I wrong?"
He struggles for a moment, caught between lying versus telling you that you're right. He says neither.
"Not the point."
He removes his gloves and tosses them in the trash, along with the wipes and leftover sutures. There's a moment of silence, of him watching you as you retrieve the whiskey and refilling your glass.
"Want one?" You ask.
"Sure."
You get another glass and pour. Like it's a strange instinct, you touch glasses before drinking.
"To being the two biggest assholes in the precinct," he says. You half expect the phrase to be some sort of sad, but he says it with a small smile, as if to say 'yes, we are, and that's just the way it'll have to be.'
You don't mind the idea.
You down your whiskey and pour another glass.
"Slow down there, Ace. How many painkillers have you taken?"
Honestly? You don't remember.
"...some. I'm fine."
To prove just how fine you are, you push yourself from the counter and immediately stumble.
"Alright," Mark sighs and sets his glass on the counter. "Where you trying to go?"
"Couch," you point. It would seem that yes, most of the substances you've ingested in the past two hours are combining at once.
Mark comes and hovers a guiding hand at your lower back to move you to the couch. You make it, plopping down and grabbing the remote.
"Whaddya wanna watch?" You ask, not quite slurring your words but definitely not enunciating them.
"I really oughta get home, let you rest."
"Noooo!" You groan. "At least not right now. What if I have a concussion? I can't sleep, right?"
Panic starts to creep in. You have been a little irresponsible tonight.
"And the drinking, and the meds- holy shit..."
You get woozy, start to fall on your bad side and Mark catches you and sits you up.
"Okay, where's the bathroom?"
You wave your hand to the hallways behind you and he leaves. Distantly, through your haze you hear Judge Judy on the tv. Mark returns with a cold wash cloth and the small trashcan from the bathroom.
"Here," he hands you the cloth and you set it on the back of your neck. Mark sets the bin by your feet. He straightens up and gets a good look at the state of you.
"Well, now I'm worried about you passing out."
And now you feel guilty about keeping him here.
"You're fine," you mumble. "Don't wanna keep you here."
Mark sighs, looks around the room, then looses his collar, undoes the first two buttons of his shirt.
"Scoot," he instructs, and you move yourself to one side of the couch. Mark kicks off his shoes and sits beside you.
"I'm staying until we're certain you won't overdose in the middle of the night. Deal?"
You would verbally respond but you're getting sleepy. You nod.
"Hey, wake up. Can't sleep yet."
"Whynot."
"Concussion."
You turn so your body is facing inwards, towards Mark. You toss the remote onto his lap.
"Pick something."
"This is fine."
"No, you hate reality TV."
"How do you know?"
"You told me once," you mumble with your eyes closed. You roll your head back and forth to keep awake.
"Oh," he says. "Well, I don't mind this one."
You crack an eye open. "You like Judy?"
He doesn't respond, just purses his lips.
You're not in your right mind. That's what you tell yourself every day since this night because it's the most dignified way you can justify your next move.
You've pulled your socked feet up on the couch and start nudging Mark's leg with your toes. His head swivels towards you.
"What?"
You clear your throat and squeeze your eyes shut to let a stab of pain pass.
"Lap."
When he realizes what you want, Mark sighs and moves his arm so you can swing your feet onto his thigh, snuggling even closer. He tenses, but doesn't move.
"You're not an asshole," you mumble. Your forehead gets closer to his shoulder.
"Yeah, I am."
"Not to me."
"I used to be."
"I know," you yawn. "I forgive you."
As you fall asleep, you think you might hear an apology slip through his lips.
-
When you wake up the next morning, Mark's gone. But you wake up on your side, covered in a blanket, the trash can placed strategically by your head. On your coffee table is a glass of water and two painkillers. And next to them is a sticky note.
Ace,
eat first. Don't take on an empty stomach.
-Mark
You smile and chug the water, then take the pills anyway. Your stitches ache, and your brain pulses against your skull, but you grip the note tightly in your hand, content to slip it into a drawer somewhere and 'forget' to throw it away.
Yep. Maybe an asshole. But not last night. Not today.
-·=»◆‡«=·-♡·=»◆‡«=·-
Sorry if it's OOC but Mark's not a super fluffy guy. This seemed like a natural-ish way to play it. Thanks for the req, anon!!

M!Crush x F!Reader: Better Late Than Never PART 1
THEME: Fluff, Some Angst (Enemies To Lovers)
WARNING(s): None yet (Part 2 is NSFW)
**This was heavily inspired by a Skins episode. It's Naomi's episode from season 3. I did make a few key changes to avoid the "plaigarism" allegations. It was also heavily inspired by IRL beef I have with someone at my college who I may or may not have had a crush on at one point. Unfortunately, that beef will not end in this manner because the world don't work like that.**
It was cold and miserable. Why were you even forced to go on this stupid retreat with C/N anyways? He told you his friends set it up so the two of you could "stop hating each other". Yeah, like that would ever work. If anything, you expected that time spent alone with him would make the two of you hate each other more.
"You okay?" he asked you, the glow of the fire illuminating his face.
"That's the first time you've asked me something." you quipped back.
"Today?"
"Ever."
"Well...answer it then. Are you okay?"
"No. This is miserable. The weather's shit and the company's even worse. Why are we even here? Why were we forced to go on this stupid camping trip with each other?"
"You know you could have said no. Nobody forced you to be here."
He was right. You could have said no. But, admittedly, a camping trip (even with someone you don't like) was better than sitting at home and being bored all weekend.
"Whether or not I said no is irrelevant." you said. "What was the point of this trip? Was it so your friends could make bets on if we're gonna hook up?"
"I'll be honest," he answered. "I don't know either. They said it was to get us to stop hating each other, but it's really none of their business. And now we're both just sitting here, bored and unhappy. The worst part is they're making us share a tent."
"Yep."
The fire was warm. It felt nice. You held out your hands against it to warm them. Unfortunately, the skies were looking a bit ominous. You were expecting rain at any second.
"You know I never hated you, right?" C/N said out of nowhere.
"Hmm?" you raised an eyebrow.
"It's true, Y/N. I never hated you. I guess I was always such an ass to you because I knew you didn't like me. It made me feel powerful. God, I'm such a dumbass."
Damn. That hit hard. Truth be told, you never hated him either. Maybe his friends were right. Maybe this rivalry was stupid and pointless.
"I never hated you either." you confessed. "I caught you running your mouth about me to your buddies and it hurt me. I was angry and upset. And I think that may have colored my thoughts about you."
"That's totally valid." he said. "And listen, I never should have said those things about you. It's fair that you thought I was a dick. I know I hurt you. Like I said, I'm a dumbass. I'm sorry."
"I guess I'm sorry too."
"For what?"
"The way I reacted. I held a grudge and I really shouldn't have--"
You were cut off by his lips pressing against yours. It was totally out of left field. Was it because you were talking too much and this was his way of getting you to shut up because he couldn't stand the sound of your voice anymore? You didn't want to like it, but you did. You surrendered to the kiss, which grew deeper when you gave in.
"I've been wanting to do that for a really long time." he said breathlessly after pulling away.
"You..." you didn't understand. "you kissed me. You just kissed the person who caught you talking shit about them a few months ago."
"I sure did. And I enjoyed every second of it. The reason I was talking shit about you in the first place was because I have secretly always had a crush on you. I was just scared of it and thought I had to pretend I didn't like you so it wouldn't be obvious. But that was really stupid and immature of me. I should've just told you so all this petty drama could have been avoided. But yeah...I've been crushing on you."
You felt a blush forming on your cheeks. C/N noticed this and smiled. Did you maybe secretly like him too? Where were all these feelings coming from?
"If you want the truth," you said. "I think the reason I was so hurt and angry was because I sort of liked you too. Maybe your friends were right. Maybe we didn't need to be fighting with each other."
It all finally made sense. You were both just too stubborn to admit you had feelings for each other. But you supposed it was better late than never. Though the fire was still blazing, a cool breeze washed over you. You ran cold anyways, so this did not help. You hugged yourself for warmth. C/N saw this and wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in close and kissing the crown of your head. Alas, you were finally in his arms. You didn't realize how badly you wanted that until now. With your head pressed against his chest, you could hear his heartbeat. It sounded so beautiful. Maybe you were starting to drift off to sleep. But just as you began to drift away, the moment was ruined. There was the rain, putting out the nice, cozy, warm fire.

Okay i wrote this in record time for me. i just got the urge and boom here it is. I wanted to get this out fast so I didn't forget about it.
I called it a CEO AU but honestly its just an AU where MC works as Lucifer's assistant and is ready to wrap up this part of their life and move on to different work.
All the brothers are mentioned in this. And this can be whatever you want honestly. Platonic not so platonic. Maybe MC is dating one of them, maybe not. I kept it pretty vague!
MC is gender neutral.

"What is this?"
You push the envelope forward. "My letter of resignation."
Maybe it was a bit much handing it to him in person like this, but emailing just felt too cold. And yea he was your boss, but you considered Lucy a friend too and wanted to leave on the best note possible.
"I know you're busy but I wanted to let you know asap so we can plan accordingly."
Surprising to you, Lucifer seems slightly caught off guard. "Did you find new work?"
You nod with a smile. "Yep! It’s pay and benefits aren't as good but it's practically my dream job."
Lucifer observes you. It was obvious that working as his assistant was a lot of stress on you. Asmodeus mentioned your frustrations to him several times. But you always pulled through in the end.
Did he overestimate you? No, overwork you?
"When do you leave?"
"2 weeks!"
-------
"They're literally going to the other side of the world you guys!"
“They’re what!?” Mammon responds, bewildered.
"They're moving to the other side of the world! A completely different country--this sucks!" Asmodeus lays his head down in his arms.
Unease fills the meeting room. This was new information to the rest of the brothers, including Lucifer. MC had never mentioned anything about moving and now an unwanted change had become much more unpleasant.
-------
"Hey MC! Why didn't ya mention ya were moving to the other side of the world?" Mammon approaches from the meeting room, wasting no time.
"Ohhh... right, I forgot to mention that part to everyone. But it wasn't really that important honestly."
“What do ya mean it’s not important. It’s kind of a big deal!”
"....Okay yeah you're right, but it honestly slipped my mind. By the way, not on the other side of the world. Asmo likes to exaggerate, I swear. Either that or his geography could use some polishing."
You continue dropping random items from inside your desk into a box. You still had a week and half left but you wanted to take all your personal non-work stuff home to avoid forgetting anything. You were honestly surprised by how much unnecessary crap had found its way into the desk. It was a stark difference compared to your first couple of months working here.
When you first started, it sucked honestly. If it wasn't for the amazing pay you would have quit fairly quick.
The first several months were rough, but with time you started getting used to working for the overbearing perfectionist that was Lucifer. Things started to feel routine, you could access possible issues before they happened. And Lucifer’s brothers coming in and out of this building stopped being an annoyance and began to be something to look forward to. You made friends with each and every one of them. Then even Lucifer eventually came around. And before you knew it had been 4 years.
You always thought about moving on to new work but would forget about it and go back to the usual routine. But recently, you were starting to feel content--no resigned. Like "I guess I could stay here forever…" resigned. And it scared you! So you immediately started job searching more seriously and your months of work paid off.
But I'm still gonna miss this place.
Next, Asmo is out of the room. He walks straight for you and wraps you in a tight hug. "MC don't leave us please!"
"I must--AH you're squeezing me too hard!"
He loosens his hold. "Sorry."
You pat his arm.
“Aren't ya gonna miss me--us? Whatever new people ya meet couldn't measure up to the Great Mammom!”
"That’s definitely true, but I need to spread my wings and fly you guys. Hmm…that sounded better in my head."
You notice Leviathan standing off to the side listening so you give him a smile.
"Levi, why are you standing over there?"
He jumps but makes his way over from your prompting.
"S-So you really found your dream job. It sucks you're leaving but maybe it's a good thing too…"
You nod. "It's new and a little scary, but just consider it me starting a new arc in life."
"And honestly if you guys really want to talk to me, then keep in touch. You literally all have my number."
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to help much for cheering up Levi or the other two.
Fortunately though, Satan appears before the silence becomes unbearable.
"So you're finally escaping Lucifer MC?”
"Ha! I guess you could put it that way..."
Asmo crosses his arms, his frown deepening. "Please don't let him overhear that."
Satan shows what he's hiding behind his back. "I'll miss your company but I'd like to send you off on the right foot so I brought you a couple of items."
He hands you the gift bag.
"If this isn't a book, I'll be shocked," you say.
You peep inside and realize there's multiple things.
A hardback book from a series you and Satan are currently reading (of course), a neck pillow, and a kitty eye mask.
"Oh wait there's something else."
You dig in and pull out a bracelet. But not just any bracelet. A very limited edition one. It was official merch for one of your favorite series, but you couldn't afford it at the time when it was released.
"What the heck, how'd you find this? This came out years ago!"
"Lots of online searching, and thanks to Levi and Asmo we found a somewhat reasonable price to all pitch in for."
You put the bracelet on.
“And in such a short time too…Im.never taking this off!”
You grin. “Well…now I gotta hug you all!”
Before he responds you're crushing Satan, managing to fluster him. You then pull (a blushing) Levi and then Asmo in for a hug, the latter eagerly returning it.
“No way ya guys are making me look bad,” Mammon says.
"Get in on the collab next time!" Asmo quips.
“Don't worry Mammon, I'll give you a hug later.”
“What? I didn't say anything about a hug…”
“So you don't want one. Got it.”
“Hold on, wait a second…”
You smirk and shake your head. “Okay help me move my stuff you guys so we have a reason to keep talking.”
-------
"Is Belphie still ignoring me?"
Beel nods. "Sorry MC. I think he just needs more time to process."
The other day after leaving the meeting room the youngest made a beeline for the elevator. He didn't even look your way.
"Ah he wounds me..."
"I'll talk to him. Maybe eating out together would help clear the air?"
“Oo, you, me and Belphie. Let's do it!”
Beel smiles that way you love and you give him a sudden hug. It couldn’t be helped, you had a soft spot for the two youngest brothers.”
“Beel, I’m gonna miss you so much!”
He returns the hug. "Me too. I wish you didn’t have to leave, but what makes you happy is most important."
You pull back to look at his face. “I swear you're way more mature than some of your older brothers.”
-------
As your last day gets closer and closer, the brothers (6 out of 7 at least) accept your impending departure. And along with that came endless gifts. It was like Satan triggered a competition to see who could do better. And it looked like you'd have to spend extra money on moving all this extra stuff that had been dumped on you.
Especially after that shopping spree Asmo took you on.
Start your new life with a new wardrobe MC!
Even Belphie had gotten over his initial shock after your dinner with him and Beel and gifted you several items.
Please make sure to answer mine and Beel’s messages right away.
Don't worry I won't miss any of you or your brother's texts!
Who's talking about those others?
You chuckle at the memory. Belphie was too much sometimes.
You shake your head and sniffle.
….Oh god.
You wouldn't see them in person like this anymore! These moments with them. They would be far and few between once you started your new job.
And for some reason while you're surrounded by half packed boxes in your home, it’s finally hitting you.
Your phone pings and you wipe your eyes.
A text from Lucifer.
That was the last person you expected. He hasn't really been talking to you much outside of work since you gave him your resignation, and even then it was purely professional. It made you feel bad. Like your relationship had regressed.
So you quickly respond.
L: Did you already schedule transportation to the airport?
M: of course 👍 don’t wanna wait last minute
L: Make sure you double check the dates too.
M: lucy are you gonna miss me? :3c
If you didn’t bring it up, he might not say it out right.
L: You're so troublesome.
L: But yes, I will miss you.
L: And I honestly don't understand why you're leaving.
You stare at the messages. How were you supposed to respond to that?
M: i have to. it's what i want to do with my life…
L: Okay. Make sure you're on time tomorrow.
That's it?
You let out an annoyed sigh.
-----
You're in Lucifer's office first thing in the morning. He looks up with you with a raised eyebrow when you barge in.
You drag a seat directly in front of his desk so he’s forced to look at you. "We are handling this right now. I want to leave here with no loose ends"
"What is there to handle exactly? Youre leaving this job in 3 days to start your new one."
"Lucifer, you're obviously upset at me and I want you to be happy for me....like everyone else."
"I'm not like everyone else."
"Obviously, everyone is different. You're all different. That's not what I meant..."
You take a deep breath, lean forward and rest your arms on his desk. "Be vulnerable with me this one time. I know you're going to miss me but I feel like that's not enough for you to be so cold towards me like this..."
He’s quiet.
"Please Lucy?"
"...I don't want you to leave. The idea that I won't get to see you easily bothers me."
He looks away
"And I feel like I'm the reason you're leaving."
Oh.
“I'm so sorry, I know sometimes I joke around with your brothers but Lucifer it's not actually you. Work like this has always been stressful for me. It's always been. And I just happened to find where my limit was in this particular job.”
“I love you and all your brothers but my final goal was to always aim for work that would be easier on me mentally in a place where it was enough to sustain me. I just got too used to being here.”
"You handle every situation so calmly though. You're always on top of everything
"Heh my acting skills are just that good! But you're starting to understand I hope?"
He crosses his arms. “I can’t be happy about you leaving MC.”
Your brows furrow.
“But I suppose I can support you going for what you really want.”
“You know what…I’ll take it!” You rest your head on your arms.
He smirks. “Now get out, I'm busy. We can talk more afterwards.”

Like a Hurricane // JJ Maybank x OC - Part 1
Summary: Sky is a Pogue through and through. No one would doubt that. But what will happen if her Dad just disappears, and after nine months, she and her brother face the consequences with DCS? Sky tries to manage her way through a literal storm but also the storm of secrets, confessions, friendships, and... summer.
Masterlist
Warnings: language, use of alcohol, talk of death
Pairing: JJ Maybank x OC
A/N: And I'm back with an all-new Outer Banks story :) Yay! I got so invested in that show that I couldn't just binge-watch the whole show, as I didn't want it to end. And yes this is more a "reimagine". Don't @ me ;)
Tumblr media
Summer.
Finally. We've waited a long time for the summer break to finally arrive. No more school, no more responsibilities. Not that my brother would care about that ever since our father went missing.
But hey, we're the Pogues, and our mission this summer is to have a good time all the time.
On the terrace of their new hangout, the Pogues lounged, beers in hand, basking in the golden-orange hue of the setting sun. The vibe was effortlessly relaxed and warm.
"That's what, a three-story fall to the deck?", Pope questioned, eyeing the boy teetering on the rooftop, beer casually in tow. "I give you about a one-in-three chance of survival."
The blonde girl with the side braid perched on a scaffold nearby, beer can in hand, gazed upward nonchalantly. "So?"
John B paused, wetting his finger and testing the wind. "Should I do it?"
"Yeah, jump", urged the blonde boy with the cap, sitting next to Sky.
Pope, brandishing a drill playfully, aimed it at John B. "I'll shoot you on the way down."
"You'll shoot me?"
"Yep", he replied with a shrug.
John B mimed a gun with his hand, pointing at Pope. "Pow!"
"They're gonna have Japanese toilets with towel warmers," Kiara announced, stepping out. She was striking, her light-dark skin and wavy hair catching the last light of day.
Beside Sky, JJ chuckled. "Of course. Why wouldn't they?"
Sky shared a knowing look with JJ, a sly grin on her lips. "You know what's next," she whispered, sparking a grin from JJ.
"This used to be a turtle habitat, but who cares about the turtles, I guess?" Kiara lamented.
"Poor turtles", Sky responded with playful sympathy, standing up.
JJ shrugged. "I can't have cold towels."
Kiara ignored him and looked up at John B. "Can you please not kill yourself?"
Sky jumped down from her perch, finishing her beer with a swift gulp. "I mean, one less Routledge, who gives a shit?" she said sarcastically. "Oh wait, me! I would give a shit. Get the fuck down, JB!"
"Don't spill that beer. I'm not giving you another one", JJ warned his best friend.
Unfazed, John B balanced precariously, but a sudden gust of wind caught him off guard. His beer plummeted to the terrace below.
"Of course you did," JJ grumbled.
Kiara turned away, shaking her head. "Smooth..."
The blonde girl sighed and rubbed her face. "Dumbass..."
Pope, peering over the balcony, spotted a security guard emerging from a parked car.
"Hey!"
"Hey, uh, security's here," he informed the others. "Let's wrap it up."
JJ looked around, glanced quickly at Sky, and smiled. "Boys are early today."
"Humpty Dumpty, let's roll," Sky said smugly.
"Yeah," John B agreed, walking down to the others.
"Let's go, boys," Kiara smiled, and they started to hurry.
JJ, teasing as always, exclaimed: "Gary, is that you?"
"Get down", Sky said to her brother.
JJ, still in light spirits, laughs as he sees that it is indeed Gary. "Gary, good to see you, man!"
They made their way downstairs, JJ's leaking behind. "JJ!" Sky laughed and pulled him along.
With Gary's backup close behind, the Pogues had to swiftly escape, leaping fences and dodging the guards. John B had the Twinkie, his van, revved up and ready. They piled in, laughter and adrenaline mixing, as one guard gave futile chase.
"Come on guys, you're giving him a heart attack," Kiara laughs, and Sky nudges her.
In high spirits, they sped off into the summer night, the promise of adventure ahead.
The Outer Banks, Paradise on Earth.
It's the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one island.
The nice side of the Island is called Figure Eight. It's the rich side of the island. Home of the Kooks. So, guess where we don't live.
And then, there is the south side or the Cut. Home of the working class who make a living busing tables, washing yachts, running charters.
The natural habitat of... drumroll please... the Pogues. That's us. Pogues, pogies, the throwaway fish. Lowest member of the food chain.
Okay. So, the downside of Pogue life is we're ignored and neglected. But the upside of Pogue life? We're ignored and neglected, which means we do whatever we want, whenever we want.
But who are we?
There's JJ. My brother's best friend since the third grade. Meaning that I couldn't get rid of him even if I wanted to.
He's about as local as they come. Latest in a long line of fishing, drinking, smuggling, vendetta-holding salt-lifers who made their living off the water. Best male surfer I know. But don't tell him I said that. I wouldn't hear the end of it. Mild kleptomaniac and a future tax cheat, for sure. And then there's his secret – a massive, undeclared crush on me. Of course, I'm totally oblivious to it. No one knows about it. Well, that's the story, as my brother would probably kill him anyway.
Then there's Kiara, or Kie, as we call her. My best friend and the only other female Pogue apart from me. When not saving turtles or, listening to Marley, or getting a dolphin tattoo (which, for the record, I totally didn't convince her to get – okay, maybe I did), she hangs out with us. We are all not really sure why, though.
So, she's a rich kid, actually. Foot in both worlds. Her family owns The Wreck, my workplace, this Outer Banks institution. Total cash cow with the tourists. We are not really sure how her parents feel about us, well at least about the boys, as I think they kind of like me.
All of the guys had a thing for her at least once.
And then there's Pope. The brains of the operation... finalist for the Lucas T. Vanderhorst Merit Scholarship. And probably the smartest person I know. He's a little bit of a weirdo, to be honest. His father's this legendary character, Heyward. Anything you wanted on the island, Heyward could get for you.
Now, I'm not sure Heyward knew what to make of his oddball son, but it didn't matter. He was a Pogue, just like the rest of us.
There's John B – my twin brother. At first glance, no one would peg us as twins. John B, with his dark hair and deep-set eyes, starkly contrasts my light blonde hair and grey eyes. But beneath these superficial differences lies an unbreakable bond. John B and I have always been incredibly close, sharing a connection that goes beyond mere appearances. He's the undisputed leader of the Pogues, a role he takes as naturally as breathing. In his leadership, there's a sense of adventure, a hint of recklessness, and a deep-seated loyalty that binds all of us together. His presence is both a guiding force and a constant reminder of the unspoken understanding and support we share as twins.
And then there's me, Skylar Artemis Routledge. Or Sky. Talk about a mouthful of a name, right? Thanks a bunch, Mom and Dad. As I mentioned earlier, I'm the younger twin sister of John B – younger by a mere four minutes, a fact he never lets me forget, flaunting it like a badge of honor. My world? It revolves around the thrill of surfing, the freedom of skating, and, of course, my fiercely loyal band of friends. Oh, and about the infamous "no Pogue on Pogue macking" rule? Guilty as charged. That's on me. Or, more accurately, it's because of my overprotective brother, who's made it crystal clear: nobody messes with his "baby sister." It's a title I wear with a mix of annoyance and affection, but hey, that's family for you.
John B and I call an old fish shack on the marsh our home, fondly nicknamed "The Chateau" by our dad. That's how he always referred to it, with a hint of irony and a lot of love. Our dad... he vanished nine months ago while chasing the legend of a shipwreck. In this day and age, who just disappears at sea?
I miss him every single day. John B does, too, the weight of his absence hanging silently between us.
Our mom is a different story. She left when we were just three, a distant memory more than a mother. Last I heard of her, she was in Colorado, or at least I think it was Colorado.
But we've still got Uncle T. Ever since Dad's disappearance, he's been our so-called legal guardian. Right now, he's off in Mississippi, busy building houses. That leaves just John B and me free to roam with our friends, masters of our own little world.
Three months after Dad was declared missing, they wanted to pronounce him dead officially. But John B wouldn’t sign the papers. He's adamant that there's no giving up until he sees a body. As for me... well, as three months stretched into six, my hope quietly faded away. I hate to admit it, but I've stopped expecting a miracle.
John B and Sky found themselves seated in the stark, clinical setting of the sheriff's office, facing a social worker named Cheryl. Her gaze fixed on the twins, who wore expressions of casual, almost practiced boredom.
"John, Skylar, it's come to our attention that you're unemancipated minors living on your own," Cheryl began. At this, John B and Sky shared a quick, knowing glance before bursting into laughter.
"No... Not really," Sky drawled, slouching further in her chair, her face etched with defiance.
"No," echoed John B, shaking his head.
Cheryl sighed deeply, intertwining her fingers with a look of forced patience. "I need honesty to help you two. That's what we're aiming for, right?" she asked, her eyes shifting between the twins.
"We're being honest," John B insisted as Sky puckered her lips in a mock pout.
All too aware of the teenagers' evasiveness, Cheryl let out another sigh. "Okay, then, when's the last time either of you spoke to your uncle?"
The twins exchanged another glance, their silent communication a testament to their unspoken bond.
Sky glanced at her empty wrist. "Uh... 34 minutes ago, to be exact."
"And when did you last see him?"
This time, John B chimed in. "Two hours and, uh... 43 minutes ago?"
Sky couldn't help but chuckle, biting her lip – a habitual gesture.
"John... Skylar, we're planning to visit tomorrow to speak with your uncle. If he's not there, we'll have to proceed with foster care arrangements," Cheryl explained, her tone a mix of sternness and concern. Sky scoffed at the notion. "I assure you, our goal is to find you both a safe, loving home."
They actually thought we were gonna be happy to hear that. Bullshit! I knew that they would separate us, and, almost as bad, they would get us to the mainland.
And that's where this story starts. Our dad missing, our uncle MIA, and the bride of Frankenstein threatening us with foster care.
That evening, the Pogues sat by a fire at the beach. They had fun, but one was missing. John B sat a bit further away and gave in to his thoughts. Sky sat next to JJ, who causally had his arm around her shoulders.
"What's up with him?" JJ asked, and Pope and Kie were looking at Sky.
She sighed and shrugged. "It's his way of coping, I guess... They-" She gulped and sighed again. "They want to swing by tomorrow, talk to Uncle T."
JJ pulled Sky closer. "Come on, they can't just drag your asses away. You're Pogues. You belong here."
Sky's smile faded a little. "Tell that to them."
JJ's smile faded as well, as he looked down at the blonde next to him. Kiara couldn't help but smile at the sight. She realized, for some time now, how much JJ liked Sky. Not just liked, but liked.
"Have you heard about the hurricane? It's heading right towards us", Pope then said and showed them the news channel on his phone, and Sky looked at him, sighing.
She wiggled out of JJ's arm and stood up. "Well, at least one good thing comes of it." She took out her phone, and the others looked at her, confused.
"DCS, how can I help you?" Sky tipped her finger to her lips. "Yeah, uh... I think we have to reschedule."
Tumblr media
As Sky was at home later, thunder was crackling, and the wind took off. JJ sat on her porch on his phone. Sky just looked out to the ocean, wondering where her brother was.
"Hey yo, you know where John B is?" she turned and looked at JJ, who looked up at her.
He shrugged. "Nah, but my guess..." He pointed his head towards the ocean.
"He's really going for it, huh?" Sky muttered under her breath, turning back to the sea again.
JJ stood up and put an arm around her shoulders. "Don't worry, Barb. He's gonna be fine."
Barb. That was another thing. JJ called me that for as long as I can remember. Well, at first, it was Surfer Barbie, what many people call me, to be honest, so he just called me Barbie, and that morphed into Barb. He's the only one who calls me that.
Sky sighed once again and turned, walking into the Chateau. JJ looked after her with a questioning look, before he sat back down on the porch.
Shortly after, Sky walked out again with a Whiskey and two glasses. "Might as well..."
She poured some of the brown liqueur into the glasses and slid one over to JJ. He grinned at Sky and took it into his hand.
"The good glasses? What's the occasion?" he asked and winked at her.
"Don't know... When Aggie hits, they might break anyway..."
They clinked the glasses together and smiled at each other before taking a sip.
Forty-five minutes later, the almost full bottle was empty, and Sky sat on the porch bench with JJ, her legs over his lap. JJ has his hands on her shins and caresses them absently.
The conversation, deep and meandering under the influence of alcohol, takes a turn as JJ gazes into the distance, where lightning from the approaching Hurricane Agatha flickers ominously. "Barb," he slurs slightly, "have you ever thought about, you know, dating one of us Pogues? Like, hypothetically speaking?"
Sky, her head leaning back, a relaxed smile on her face, responds with a teasing lilt, "JJ, you know the rule. No Pogue on Pogue macking. John B made it pretty clear."
But JJ is undeterred, his eyes intense. "That rule is bullshit. It's just something John B came up with, so we don't mack on you. But seriously, what if? What if the rule didn't exist?"
Sky turns to face him, her expression softening in the dim porch light. "What if, huh?" she muses, the alcohol making her thoughts swim. "I don't know, JJ. It's a weird thought. We're like... family, you know?"
JJ nods, serious. "Yeah, I know. But sometimes, I think, 'What if.' What if the person you're supposed to be with is right in front of you, and you're just too blind to see it because of some stupid rule?"
The confession, raw and honest, hangs between them. Sky looks into JJ's eyes, seeing the vulnerability and sincerity within. "JJ, are you asking if I've ever thought about you that way?" she whispers, the storm's energy charging the air around them.
JJ meets her gaze, his voice earnest. "Maybe I am. Maybe I'm tired of pretending that I haven't thought about it. About you."
The intensity of the moment builds, mirroring the storm's crescendo. But then, Sky, sensing the conversation veering into serious territory that she's not ready to navigate, especially not under the influence, lets out a laugh. It's light, an attempt to diffuse the tension.
"JJ, you're drunk, and your emotions are all over the place. It's just the whiskey talking."
JJ's gaze lingers on her, a mix of longing and frustration in his eyes. "Maybe," he concedes, "but what if it's not? What if—"
Skye cuts him off with a light laugh, leaning in to bump her shoulder against his. "Oi, Bandolero, trust me. You're going to wake up tomorrow and realize you were just feeling extra sentimental because of the storm and the whiskey."
Tumblr media
A little later, as the conversation drifted and the storm raged outside, Sky and JJ succumbed to sleep on the porch. Suddenly, Sky felt a persistent poking at her cheek.
Blearily opening her eyes, she was jolted awake by the looming figure before her, illuminated starkly by a flash of lightning.
"Jesus fucking Christ, are you out of your damn mind?" Sky exclaimed, her words directed at her drenched brother, who stood before her, surfboard in tow.
The commotion roused JJ, who blinked groggily at John B.
"That's your concern? What the hell are you guys still doing out here? Get inside!" John B barked, hauling Sky to her feet.
Sky, unimpressed, retorted as she was ushered inside, "Look who's talking, big bro. Did you seriously try to surf in this mess?" Behind them, JJ, barely awake, stumbled into the living room, collapsing onto the pull-out couch.
John B paused, eyeing his best friend's form. "What happened to him?" he asked, amusement lacing his voice.
Sky, smirking, replied as she headed to her room, "Dad's Highland Park. Turns out our Bandolero over there isn't as seasoned a drinker as he likes to claim." She paused at her door, glancing back at John B. "Good night."
"Night," he responded, his smile lingering as he made his way to his own room.

I want you ~ Steven Adler x Izzy Stradlin pt. 1
Tumblr media
Summary: During a night out, Izzy and Steven share a smoke outside, concern over the other. But what if that concern turns good?
Wordcount: 1328 words
Warnings: All the boys are drunk and high, besides Izzy and Steven, they're just drunk and worry about each other, sexual hint (nothing happens...yet)
A/N: Requested by @popcorn-adler2 ! Somebody loves this pairing very much;>
Like, reblog, share and feedback is always appreciated!:D
,,Did anybody tell you, how beautiful you look? Like, fuck, I can't get enough of you...''
Ending up with his band mate in the same bed wasn't something Steven had planned. But who does? But he couldn't really complain. It was nice after all...
~-~
,,Hey, you did great tonight! Probably the best you've ever played!''
You could feel the adrenaline from everybody, even hours after the gig, still lingering in the air. The boys didn't have to get high: They already were.
,,You really think so?''
,,Yeah, I mean, you're great! If not even the best drummer in the world!''
It was high praise, a high ego boost, but to Steven, it still meant everything.
,,Hey, I'm gonna go outside for a smoke, anybody wanna come with?''
,,Nah, I'm good.''
,,I'll go later.''
,,Nope.''
,,Yeah.''
Izzy nearly didn't even register the last voice, having been basically out of the door of the club, 'til a small tap on his shoulder brought him back to his attention.
,,Didn't hear me, eh?''
,,Nah, thought you were too busy with that girl on your lap.''
,,Eh, it got uninteresting pretty fast.''
,,Uninteresting'' wasn't a word Izzy would've ever thought to hear from his band mate, 'cause he always manages to find interest even in the most random things.
,,And, what about the girl?''
,,Got bored.''
,,What...?''
Second by second, Izzy was more surprised. Uninteresting? Bored? Steven wasn't high, Izzy knew that, but what the fuck was going on?
,,You good?''
,,Uh, yeah, why?''
,,You look a bit pale, and your eyebrows are probably higher up than your body temperature.''
,,Eh, it's nothing.''
Taking a nervous drag of his cigarette, Izzy opted to look at the floor, seemingly inspecting their shoes, but...He was alright. Just a bit surprised, nothing else. People can be bored sometimes, that's nothing new...
,,I feel like...Yeah...Man, you're burning up...And you're really sure you're alright?''
,,Yeah, I was just...A bit too surprised, 'cause I barely ever hear you say something's boring.'
,,You were THAT scared something had happened?''
,,Yeah, I mean, it did come out of nowhere...''
,,Well, my bad...But, you know, something else caught my attention.''
,,And that'd be?''
,,You.''
Yep...If the colour on his face hadn't completely faded by now, it had come back in 180°, a very crimson red appearing, and Izzy could've sworn his face was hit by hot water. Why would he be on Steven's mind? Did he forget something?
,,How come?''
,,You're always in a conversation with somebody, especially after a good gig like tonight, and now suddenly...Nothing...Sure, you can be quiet sometimes, but this is the kind of quiet where I am getting worried...''
,,You don't have to be worried, I was just surprised...Maybe the booze made me overreact, you know?''
,,Yeah...''
,,Come 'ere...''
They both took a step forward, lazily putting their arms around each other, first in a brotherly way, but none of them pulled away after short, their hands moving to the other's waist, respectively around the other's neck, which the smaller one did the latter of. They didn't speak, just looked at each other, laughing every now and then.
,,Hi...''
,,Hello there...''
,,We probably look like a really cheesy couple right now, hm?''
,,Yeah, probably.''
But instead of parting, they stayed, moving a little closer to the wall behind Steven, his back softly thudding against it. The street lights were shining just right, keeping them a little in the dark to other people's eyes, but enough to see each other still. Or as good as it could get: Steven's hat slid down the front of his head, pushing his bangs further down, making a funny curtain.
,,Can you still see something?''
,,Uh, yeah...Definitely...''
Laughing at his comment, Izzy flicked the hat, kinda moving it up and out of the way, but it didn't really do much.
,,Better now?''
,,Yeah, a bit, I think...?''
Getting it done quick, the hat was moved to sit proper, the baby blues glowing.
,,Thank you...Does that count as you being the fashion police?''
,,Maybe...Well, kinda, sorta...''
Izzy did have a good style, everybody knew that. And he had the talent to make even the most random piece look good. Even a hat that looks like a raccoon.
,,You know...I did know that the fashion police always looked good, but tonight...Tonight they're looking extra good...''
,,Yeah?''
,,Yeah...So good that I want to show my appreciation for them...''
,,Go on...''
The whole thing wasn't rushed. What for? They had all the time in the world...
,,Fuck, you taste good...''
It was, as if their lips were made for each other, soft pecks just to test out the waters, but those quickly turned into full kisses.
,,More...Please...''
,,I'll give you more, don't worry...''
Their hands were in each other's hair, pulling and scratching lightly, eliciting moans from the other, which just spurred them on more and more. They were forgetting where they were, what they were doing, but they didn't care: They just didn't wanted to stop, it felt too good. But eventually, they had to catch their breath.
Trying to find their words was impossible, and the only thing they could do was, to either take the other's features in, or just simply look away. For Izzy, it was the latter, whilst Steven did the first.
,,Beautiful'' was one way to describe Izzy as a whole. He had a little stubble on his face, which always looked hot on him. The moonlight accentuated his whole face well, his eyes glittering, those beautiful greens...
,,Wanna get outta here?''
,,Hm? Oh, yeah, sure.''
The next ten minutes went by quick: Tell the boys you've got two girls waiting outside (definitely), grab the nearest taxi, and soar off back to the hotel.
The whole ride through, none of the men spoke to each other, just silently sat there, exchanging occasional glances, but nothing more...
~-~
,,Comfy?''
,,Yeah, you?''
,,Yeah.''
,,Cool.''
,,Cool...''
The ride had been rather quick, and as soon as they stepped into the hotel room, it felt like clearance. Like...All the awkwardness from before creeped back up, but why?
And arm draped around the shoulder, another around the waist, both squeezing every now and then, as a reassurance. Not, that either of them would leave, no; But it just felt good. The closeness...Leaning your head on the other's shoulder, their head on top of yours...Your breathing starts to match...Their smell...'Cause through all the salty sweat and cigarettes, Steven didn't expect for Izzy to smell so...Flowery? His scent was sweet, but musky, too...The perfect mix...
It was quiet outside, a bit unusual for a bustling Saturday in Los Angeles, but occasional laughter, and the deep bass from clubs made up for it, wind pairing to make whistle tones, which seemed to compose their own songs.
,,Hey Iz?''
,,Yeah?''
,,Can you whistle?''
,,Yup.''
,,Show me.''
,,Sure.''
Izzy started whistling a random tune, which Steven quickly realized, was the melody from ,,I was made for lovin' you'' by KISS. Since when was Izzy into KISS? He was always a Rolling Stones guy!
,,Sooo, you were made for lovin' me, hm?''
,,I suppose so...''
Everything went fast: From one second of looking at each other, to Steven being pinned down by Izzy, breathlessly making out like they couldn't get enough...Hands in the other's hair, and a stray hand making it's way towards Steven's belt buckle, fumbling with it.
,,Can I? Please!''
,,Yeah...''
The kissing continued, and just as he figured a way to open the belt, they heard a key in the door.
,,Fuck, why are they already here?''
,,They can't see us like this!¨¨
,,Quick, go into the bathroom!''
,,One last kiss?''
Pressing their lips together hardly, Steven stumbled to his feet, getting into the bathroom, just when the other boys stumbled in, a stupid grin on their faces.
,,Hey guys.''
,,Hey Iz. Where's Steven?''
,,Bathroom.''
,,Still found a girl to take with?''
,,Nah.''
,,Well, I guess he's solving his own problem.''
Oh, what should he say?

Season 1 ep 3
'Tell it to the frog'
Edited
We all sat around waiting for the others to return from their supply run to Atlanta. Glenn, Merle, Morales, Andrea, Jacqui, and T dog had gone on a supply run while Daryl had gone hunting. I sat talking to Lori and Shane as Lori cut Carl's hair and Shane cleaned his rifle. Carl isn't pleased about his haircut. He fidgets around and has a pout on his face the entire time. "Baby, the more you fidget, the longer it takes, so don't, okay?" Lori says as she combs out her son's hair, snipping little pieces at once. "I'm trying." Carl whines. "Well, try harder." Lori says, trying to focus on Carl's haircut. I laugh. Carl must've not had a haircut since before the outbreak because he was beginning to grow a little mullet. "If you think this is bad, wait till you start shaving. That stings." Shane laughs. "That day comes; you'll be wishing for one of your mama's haircuts." Shane says as he inspects his gun.
"I'll believe that when I see it" Carl says, making Shane and I chuckle. "I'll tell you what... you just get through this with some manly dignity, and tomorrow, I'll teach you something special. I will teach you to catch frogs." Shane says as he's taking apart his rifle. Lori smiles as she continues to cut Carl's hair. "I've caught a frog before," Carl states as he turns a bit, causing Lori to readjust his head. "I said frogs' plural, and it is an art, my friend. It is not to be taken lightly. There are ways and means. Few people know about it." I remember catching frogs on my grandfather's farm as a young kid. I'd take them back to my grandma and grandpa. Grandpa would be proud, but Grandma was always so disgusted by them. She hated that Grandpa would cook them up and eat them. "I'm willing to share my secrets."
Carl looks back at his mom, brows furrowed. "Oh, I'm a girl. You talk to him." Lori says, turning her son's head back towards Shane. "I used to catch frogs," I say. Carl turns his head towards me, brows furrowed again. "You did?" He asks. Lori turns Carls head straight again. "Yep, on my grandpa's farm when I was your age with my brother." Shane raised his eyebrows. "Brother? you have a brother?" Carl asks. I nod. "had a brother," I correct. Matthew, my little brother, was 2 years younger than me; he had dirty blonde hair as he got older and bright blue eyes that will be ingrained in my memories forever. He died 1 day into the outbreak. I miss him every day I go on without him. I wish he'd met these people because he'd love them. "My grandpa used to cook them up on Sunday nights."
"Why'd he cook them?" Carl asks, face contorting in confusion. "You never eat frog legs?" Shane asks. "Eww!" Carl says, his face contorting from confusion into a disgusted look. "No, yum!" Shane corrects as he leans back in his chair a bit. "No, he's right. Eww," Lori contradicts, "they're actually really good, Carl" I say as I fold my arms over my chest. Every day I wake up, I find these people becoming more and more like family than my actual one ever was to me. "You see, she knows what I'm talkin' bout!" Shane says, pointing towards me, which makes me laugh. Lori scrunches up her face in disgust. "When we get down to that last can of beans, you're gonna be loving those frog legs, lady. I can see it now 'Shane, do you think I could have a second helping, please? Ju..just one?'" Shane says, dropping his country accent to imitate Lori. "Yeah, I doubt that." Lori says with an eye roll as both she and Shane laugh.
I turn to see Amy; she's worried about her sister. She should've been back hours ago, but they aren't yet. Dale is standing on top of his RV with a pair of binoculars, just looking out at the road. "I'm..I'm gonna go check in on Amy," I say as I stand up.
Amy is sitting in a chair under the awning of Dale's RV. "You alright, Am's?" I ask she nods slowly. Her arms are crossed over her chest as she mumbles, "They should've been back hours ago." "I'm sure they'r-" I'm cut off by a car alarm blaring. Amy jumps up, and so does Shane. "Talk to me, Dale!" He shouts as he runs towards the RV.
"I can't tell yet," Dale says before looking through his binoculars. "Is it them? Are they back?" Amy asks. "I'll be damned," Dale mutters as we watch a bright red car drive towards our camp. That car is shouting up a storm, probably drawing every Walker in at least a mile's radius towards us. "What is it?" Amy asks.
"A stolen car is my guess."
Lori has her arm wrapped around Carl and one above her eyes, shielding her eyes from the sun. The car pulls in, and we all run towards it. Out comes Glenn. Such a dumbass. I roll my eyes because that boy always seems to do the stupidest goddamn shit. "Holy crap. Turn that damn thing off!" Dale shouts. "I don't know how!" Glenn says with a shrug and the biggest goddamn smile on his face. I run over, pulling him into a hug. I can't lie and say I haven't been a big bag of nerves since he left because I have, but hugging him always makes me feel better.
"Pop the hood, please. Pop the damn hood, please." Shane says, patting the hood of the car harshly.
I let go of Glenn as Amy runs up. "My sister, Andrea-" she's cut off by Shane shouting, "Pop the damn hood!" and him banging on the hood a bit harder. Shane is very upfront with his role as a leader. He's strong, demanding, and the type of person everyone tends to hate, but I've found it easy to get along with him most of the time. He can be an asshole sometimes, but ever since he promised to keep me safe, I've found it easy to understand why he does what he does.
"What, okay, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah," Glenn says, retreating back into his car. Amy is still right at Glenn's side, asking about Andrea. Glenn pops the hood, and Shane gets to work on the vehicle. "Is she okay? Is she all right?" Amy asks, demanding an answer from Glenn as he gets out of the car again. "She's okay! She's okay!" Glenn shouts. Amy's brows furrow, but she does let out a tiny sigh of relief as she asks, "Is she coming back?"
"Yes!"
Amy goes right back into panic mode. "Why isn't she with you? Where is she? Is She okay?" Amy continues to interrogate Glenn, "Yes! Fine. Everybody is." Almost everyone lets out a relieved sigh. We had been knotted up in webs of anxiety all day. "Well, Merle, not so much." No one really worried much about Merle. He could be loud, never listened to anyone, and was obnoxious at times, especially when he was mad. It'd be good to get rid of him. "Are you crazy, drivin' this wailin' bastard up here? You tryin' to draw every Walker for miles?" Shane scolds Glenn as he stands with both hands set on the car's hood. The car was a stupid thing to do; it could've drawn every person and Walker to our location. "I think we're okay," Dale says quietly. "You call being stupid, okay?" Shane argues. Glenn finally turns to me, wrapping his arms around me. "M'glad you're alright," I whisper as I wrap my arms around his neck. he sighs as I lean my head onto his shoulder.
"Well, the alarm was echoing all over these hills. Hard to pinpoint the source," Dale explains. Shane turns around with both hands on his hips, giving Dale a look that tells everyone, 'Don't argue with me.' "I'm not arguing. I'm just saying," Dale says with a shrug. It's almost like Dale can read everyone's expressions because I don't think most people could read Shane like that. "It wouldn't hurt you to think things through a little more carefully next time, would it?" Dale says, raising his voice a bit at Glenn. Glenn lets go of me and says, "Sorry. Got a cool car." with a shrug. I roll my eyes. It's weird, we're going through the zombie fucking apocalypse, and Glenn can still be the sweetest, funniest, happiest man I've ever met.
A large moving truck pulls in next, making everyone focus on it instead of Glenn. Morales steps out first and then Andrea from the back. "Amy," Andrea says as she runs towards her sister. "Andrea!" Amy cries out. The sisters embrace tightly.
"You scared the shit out of me." Amy cries with a little laugh. Morales's kids are running towards their father. "Papi! Daddy!" They cry out as they embrace their father. We all watch the lovely moments between family members. It hurts a bit to us members of the group who've lost family members along the way, but it's nice to see how happy they get. The closest person to a family I have in the group is Glenn. I get so excited to see his face after he goes out in the city. We never know if it's the last time we'll see each other; one day, they could go out and never return. Glenn wraps his arm around my shoulder and whispers, "Got you something while we were out; I'll show you later."
"You are a welcome sight. I thought we had lost you folks for sure." Dale says as he embraces Morales. "How'd y'all get out of there anyway?" Shane speaks up. Morales looks back to the moving truck before saying, "New guy...he got us out." I furrow my brows. I was pretty sure we were the last people alive; we hadn't seen other people since the early days of the outbreak. "New guy?" Shane asks with his brows furrowed together.
"Yeah, crazy Vato just got into town." Morales says as he turns to the moving truck and hollers, "Hey, helicopter boy! Come say hello!"
Out comes a slim brunette man in a police uniform. He's got both hands on his hips as he walks up a few inches. "The guys a cop like you." Morales tells Shane. The guy looks out of breath as he looks over the group. He points towards Lori and Carl before whispering, "Oh my god." And speed walking towards Carl, who's now running towards him. "Dad! Dad!" Carl cries out. The guy kneels down as Carl runs into his arms. Lori is just behind him. Both boys fall to the ground hugging. I'm just now realizing this is Lori's husband, the dead husband Shane had told me about. Lori wasn't one to talk much about him, but Shane and Carl talked about him a lot, mostly reminiscing. Shane talked about how they worked together in the force, and he died at the beginning of the outbreak, but that man wasn't dead. He picks up his son and walks towards Lori. Lori hugs him. She's in disbelief. Then Lori looked up at Shane with the most betrayed facial expression I'd ever seen. I learned from Lori that her husband got shot and went into a coma. Shane told her he died in the hospital. But obviously, he's not dead. He's right here in front of us. I understand that it could've been an accident; he might've not even heard a heartbeat, but the look on Shane's face tells me otherwise.
-
We're all sat around the fire, listening to who I've learned to be Rick tells us how he miraculously woke up and survived. I've got my head in Glenn's lap, and his left arm wrapped around me. "Disoriented. I guess that comes closest. Disoriented." Carl is laying in Rick's lap, and Lori sits beside them. "Fear, confusion..all those things, but..disoriented comes closest." Thunder is coming from a few miles away, which doesn't worry me much; it just frightens me every time it strikes. "Words can be meager things. Sometimes they fall short," Dale says. Glenn gently caresses my arm with his thumb as Rick says, "I felt like I'd been ripped out of my life and put somewhere else." the crickets provide an excellent background for the silence of the night, so it's not just the dark and the loud groans, and growls of walkers in the city. "For a while, I thought I was trapped in some coma dream, something I might not wake up from ever."
"Mom said you died." Carl says quietly. Lori looks at her husband worriedly, like he'd be mad if she told their son that, but he doesn't seem upset. "She had every reason to believe that. Don't you ever doubt it." Rick places his hand on his son's cheek, caressing it lightly, while Lori's hand gently pushes her son's hair back. "When things started to get really bad, they told me at the hospital that they were gonna medevac you and the other patients to Atlanta..." she pauses for a second before continuing, "...and it never happened."
"Well, I'm not surprised after Atlanta fell." Lori nods, whispering "yeah"
"And from the look of that hospital, it got overrun." Rick adds the last time I was in the city, it was absolutely overrun; no one was alive, and the entire place had been taken over by the dead. "Yeah, looks don't deceive. I barely got them out...you know?" Rick looks at Shane, making direct eye contact. "I can't tell you how grateful I am to you, Shane...I can't begin to express it." Shane doesn't answer. He stares at Rick, unable to answer; he has a guilty look on his face that says more than words could ever. "There go those words falling short again..paltry things. " Dale says with a chuckle. I look up at Glenn, who's staring ahead at the fire, zoned out, but when he notices I'm looking up at him, he grins.
Before all this, I was 2 years into med school, living in a shitty apartment with 2 shitty roommates. I wanted to be a doctor. That was dream ever since I was little. Little me was wise to choose that because now the 2 years of training I did does work out. After all, now I'm the group's "doctor." my knowledge doesn't help with complex issues because I had only been in med school for 2 years, but I'm a pro with the basics.
Lori is cuddled up in Rick's arms but staring at Shane with a terrified look. Shane looks mad, maybe jealous even. Ed stands up, throwing another log into the fire.
"Hey, Ed, you want to rethink that log?" We all look at Ed like we're in elementary school again, looking at him like, 'Ooo, you're in trouble'. "It's cold, man." Ed says with his head leaned back before it falls forward a bit. "The cold doesn't change the rules, does it?" Shane says, looking over at Ed. "Keep our fires low, just embers, so we can't be seen from a distance, right?" Shane says just to explain to Rick since his eyebrows are furrowed. "I said it's cold. You should mind your own business for once." Ed argues. It wasn't a good thing to argue with Shane; he's our leader, he makes the rules, and he tells people what to do. If he says no, it means no, that's it. Shane pushes himself to his feet, walks over, and grabs something. I can't really tell what it is. He walks behind Ed, patting him on the back. "Hey, Ed....are sure you want to have this conversation, man?" He asks softly, "Go on. Pull the damn thing out. Go on!"
Carol Ed's wife sits quietly, almost embarrassed of her husband's actions. Finally, she seems fed up with her husband's childish behavior, so she stands up, grabs the log out of the fire, and throws it on the ground. "Christ," Shane mutters. Carol isn't one to really stand up to her husband; I can tell because the look on Ed's face is terrifying. She then walks back around and sits beside her daughter as Shane stomps on the log until it's no longer on fire. Shane kneels down close to Sophia and Carol. "Hey, Carol, Sophia, how are y'all this evening?" He asks.
"Fine. We're just fine." Ed is staring daggers over at his wife. "I'm sorry about the fire." Carol says quietly, almost like she doesn't want her husband to hear. "No, no, no. No apology needed. Y'all have a good night, okay?"
"Thank you," Carol whispers. Sophia looks down at her feet the entire time like she's scared of what her father will do later. "I appreciate the cooperation." Shane stands up and walks back over to his spot. "Have you given any thought to Daryl Dixon? He won't be happy to hear his brother was left behind." Dale says. Daryl wouldn't be happy; he and his brother were the only family they had left. Even though they didn't get along well, he'd be upset.
"I'll tell him. I dropped the key. It's on me." T-dog says quietly. "I cuffed him. That makes it mine." Rick replies. "Guys, it's not a competition. I don't mean to bring race into this, but it might sound better coming from a white guy." Glenn says, his arm still wrapped around me, drawing small circles on my upper arm. The Dixon brothers...well, at least Merle was very racist, and I wouldn't be surprised if Daryl was, too. "I did what I did. Hell, if I'm gonna hide from him."
"We could lie." Amy says from her spot curled up in her sister's arms. "Or tell the truth," Andrea sighs. She's right. We needed to tell Daryl the truth; if we didn't, and he found out we lied, our consequences would be worse. "Merle was out of control. Something had to be done, or he'd have gotten us killed." She was right again; Merle was out of control, and there was never a way to calm him or tell him what to do. Even if Shane tried, he couldn't. Merle was his own boss, and God bless the person who tried to boss him around. "Your husband did what was necessary, and if Merle got left behind, it is nobody's fault but Merle's." Andrea says to Lori. "And that's what we tell Daryl?" Dale asks. I don't think Daryl would just take that as an answer for why we left his brother behind, even if he knew how stubborn his brother was. "I don't see a rational discussion to be had from that, do you?" Dale asks, shaking his head. Dale was a wise older man, like our group's grandfather or even father. He was rational and knew how to survive. People like Shane say that this world wasn't made for Dale, but we'd be dead without Dale. "Word to the wise...we're gonna have our hands full when he gets back from his hunt." We would. Daryl would probably throw a fit and try to hurt someone. He was similar to his brother in expressing his anger through yelling and fists.
"I was scared, and I ran. I'm not ashamed of it," T-dog says with his arms crossed over his chest. "We were all scared. We all ran. What's your point?" Andrea asks. "I stopped long enough to chain that door. Staircase is narrow. Maybe half a dozen geeks can squeeze against it at any one time. It's not enough to break through that..not that chain, not that padlock. My point...my point is..dixon's alive, and he's still up there, handcuffed on that roof. That's on us." T-dog says before getting up and walking away.
"Hey, can I stay in your tent tonight to stay warm?" Glenn whispers just loud enough for me to hear. I nod as I look up at him. I stand up, pushing myself off the ground, and hold my hand out for him to grab. I pull him up, and he wraps his arm around my shoulder. "We're gonna head to bed, goodnight," Glenn says.
We walk towards my tent, his arm still wrapped around me.
He unwraps his arm around me so I can unzip my tent. He gets in first and sits crisscrossed on the far-left side. I get in and then zip the tent back up. I lay down, wrapping myself in blankets, trying to avoid freezing to death. "Do you think this will ever like end?" Glenn asks. I shrug. "I hope so," I whisper. He lays down beside me, propping his head up with his arm. "If this does end, we should get an apartment together." He nods in agreement even though we both know it'll probably never happen. It's so weird. I've only known Glenn for about 2 months, but he knows me better than anyone. It could be because we have so much time to talk. "Where were you before you came here?" I ask in a whispered tone. He lets out a small sigh before saying, "Macon...ended up getting stuck in a pharmacy in Macon with a group of people. they went to some motel, but I ended up leaving to go to Atlanta." I nod before he adds, "They ended up giving me a walkie to keep in touch, but it hasn't worked since I left," he whispers as he lets his head fall onto the pillow. "Do you still have it?" I ask. He nods before reaching into his back pocket and pulling out a small walkie-talkie with stickers on it. I smile as I ask, "Why is it covered in stickers?" with a laugh. "A little girl in the group gave it to me," he says with a small smile. I let out a small sigh as we sat in a comfortable silence together for a few seconds.
"You should go to bed, Glenn," I mumble as I scoot closer to him. "Mhm, I will." I cuddle up next to him, wrapping my arms around his torso. "Don't stay up too late now," I mumble into his chest. "I won't," he says. I can tell he's smiling by the way he says it.
-
I wake up to the sound of birds chirping and the sunlight peering through the sheer fabric of my tent. Glenn's no longer in the tent. He must've gotten up earlier. I push myself off the ground and crawl over to unzip my tent. I get out, zip it back up, and walk over to where the rest of the group is hanging out.
Carol is leaving some clothes out to dry when I walk up to her. "Morning," I say. She gives me a weak smile but replies, "Morning." She washed Rick's clothes. She's a sweet lady, definitely didn't deserve her asshat of a husband.
Glenn is standing, staring at his red car, arms crossed over his chest. Dale and some other guys are striping it clean of gas and anything they need from the vehicle. Glenn's pissed. I walk over to him. "Look at 'em. Vultures." He grumbles. I give him a weak smile as he says, "Yeah, go on, strip it clean." sarcastically. "Generators need every drop of fuel they can get. I have no power without it. Sorry, Glenn," Dale says, patting Glenn's back as he walks by with a gas can. "Thought I'd get to drive it at least a few more days." Glenn mumbles. He's very obviously upset. I wrap an arm around him. "We'll get you another one like it, Glenn," I say, trying to comfort him. He gives me a weak smile. "yeah, maybe."
Glenn and I walk away from the car "are..are you guys gonna try and rescue Merle?" I ask. Glenn shrugs. "It's up to Shane," Glenn says. I nod. I wanted to go. I hadn't been out into the city since the beginning of the outbreak. I wanted to go on a supply run like Andrea got to, but I was never fucking allowed to! I could handle myself. I survived long enough to get here, but Shane was always against it. He always had some lame ass excuse to not let me go. I understood he just wanted to protect me, but if I didn't get experience fighting walkers, I would die if some came stumbling onto our camp.
Shane drives up in his jeep with water. "Waters here, y'all. Just a reminder to boil before use," he says as he exits. A couple of us walk over to Shane's car and help him carry the water jugs. I grab one, but Shane immediately takes it from me. I hate how he sees me as a child incapable of doing things alone.
A blood-curdling scream breaks our attention from the water. "MOM!" Carl screams. Rick and Lori immediately start sprinting towards their son's cries. "DAD!" Carl screams again. "Baby!" Lori yells. Shane is now also flying towards the screams of two children with a shotgun. "MAMA! MOMMY!"
"CARL!" Lori cries out as she's trying to find her child. "CARL! Baby!" Both Sophia and Carl come running out of the forest. Lori falls to her knees with Carl in her arms, examining him, ensuring there are no bites or scratches. "Nothing bit you, nothing scratched you?" Lori says, hugging at her child.
Most of us are also running that way with guns and weapons. "No, I'm okay," Carl says. Both children seem shaken up by whatever they had seen in the woods.
We finally find the Walker that the kids saw. It's in a small clearing surrounded by trees feasting on a dead deer. I scrunch up my nose in disgust. It smells horrible. Walkers smell awful, like shit, and death. It's just pure death. I stand back as the men go ham on the thing. Beating, stabbing it, you name it, they did it. The sound of leaves crunching makes Shane raise his gun.
Amy and Andrea are standing behind me. We're all preparing for the worst: another walker, maybe a horde of them. But then out pops Daryl with his crossbow and about a dozen dead squirrels. Shane lowers his gun but mutters, "Oh, Jesus." In an almost 'oh god, it's him' tone. "Son of a bitch." Daryl curses as he pushes his way through some branches and over some rocks. "That's MY deer!" As Daryl walks towards it, Rick, Morales, and Glenn step away from the deer. "Look at it. All gnawed on by this..." he then began to kick at the Walker.
"..FILTHY.." kick "..DISEASE-BEARING.." kick "..MOTHERLESS.." kick "..POXY BASTARD!"
"Calm down, son, that's not helping," Dale says, not trying to create conflict but to calm the angered man down. Daryl took it as wanting to cause a conflict, though, so he stomps over to Dale, "What do you know about it, old man?! Why don't you take that stupid hat and go back to 'On Golden Pond'!" He shouts before turning back around and walking back towards the deer and Walker.
He sighs as he leans over. "I've been trackin' this deer for miles." He pulls out about three arrows from the deer. "Was gonna drag it back to camp, cook us until some venison." He then pulls out a knife. "What do you think? Do you think we can cut around this chewed-up part right here?" He asks as he leans over the deer and points to the gnawed parts of the deer with his knife. "I would not risk that." Shane replies. The deer looks definitely non-salvageable. Its guts are spilling out and just totally gnawed on. If we tried to eat it, we'd definitely get infected. Daryl sighs. "That's a damn shame." He then turns to the squirrels he has. "I got some squirrels—about a dozen or so. That'll have to do," he sighs.
The Walker's decapitated head then twitches, which is a sight to see. It disgusts Amy, who says, "Oh god." Like she's about to throw up. Andrea then escorts her away from the Walker and probably back to camp. "Come on, people. What the hell?" Daryl says as he shoots the Walker straight in the head. He pulls the arrow out of the Walker. "It's gotta be the brain. Don't y'all know nothin'?" He says with an eye roll. He walks past me, giving me a slight smile.
We follow him as he walks back to camp. "Merle!" He shouts. Everyone's giving each other looks like 'who's gonna tell him?' "Merle! Get your ugly ass out here!" He shouts again. "I got us some squirrel! Let's stew'em up." He says, putting his crossbow down.
Shane decides he will tell him; he is the un-proclaimed group leader, after all. "Daryl, just slow up a bit. I need to talk to you." Shane says. Daryl stops and turns around. "bout what?" He asks, brows furrowed. We're all stopped just a few feet away, watching. We're all crossing our fingers, hoping this won't end badly. "Bout Merle." Shane says as he continues walking past Daryl, "There was a—there was a problem in Atlanta." Shane stops and turns around, putting his hands on his hips. Daryl looks around as we're all kind of gathered around watching. "He dead?" Daryl asks. "We're not sure." As Daryl's brows furrow, Shane replies, "he either is or he ain't!" Rick then steps up and walks over to where Shane and Daryl are. "No easy way to say this, so I'll just say it."
"Who are you?"
"Rick Grimes." Rick replies in his heavy country accent. Someone was going to get hurt; I just knew it. I'm leaning against Shane's jeep, with Glenn standing beside me as we watch. "Rick grimes! you got something you want to tell me?" Daryl shouts angrily. God, I just hope no one gets hurt too bad because I'll have to fix them up.
"Your brother was a danger to us all, so I handcuffed him on a roof hooked him to a piece of metal. He's still there." Rick explains. I can just see Daryl's blood boiling. If steam could come out of his ears, it would be. Daryl turns around, wiping at his eyes like he was about to cry. "Hold on. Let me process this. You're saying you handcuffed my brother to a roof, and you left him there?!" He shouts with tears in his eyes. I actually feel bad for Daryl. If someone had chained my brother up on a roof with Walker able to get to him, I'd be just as angry. "yeah." Rick says quietly. Daryl's face is all scrunched up in anger. He turns around just a bit before launching the squirrels at Rick.
Shane immediately gets in between the two, tackling Daryl to the ground. Daryl falls to the ground with a grunt. T-dog drops the logs he was carrying and is just about to jump in when Daryl pulls out his knife and pushes himself off the ground. "watch the knife!" T-dog shouts. Daryl then tries to swing at Rick but misses. Rick grabs one of Daryl's arms, and Shane comes behind him, both men holding him back. Rick takes a step back, letting Shane take over. "Okay, okay," Shane says, trying to stop Daryl from struggling. We all knew this would happen; Daryl was violent. "You'd best let me go!" Daryl shouts.
"Nah, I think it's better if I don't." Shane's arms are around Daryl's neck in a choke hold, and Daryl grunts and tries to escape Shane's grip. "Choke hold's illegal," Daryl grunts as Shane gets him to the ground. "You can file a complaint," Shane replies sarcastically.
"Come on, man. We'll keep this up all day." Shane warns as Rick kneels down next to Daryl. "I'd like to have a calm discussion on this topic. Do you think we can manage that?" Rick asks Daryl. Daryl doesn't answer. Just continues to wriggle around, trying to get out of their hold. "Do you think we can manage that?" Rick repeats like he's talking to a toddler. Daryl is panting, but let's say, "mhm, yeah." Shane lets him go harshly. "what I did was not on a whim." Rick says, still kneeling down next to Daryl. Daryl's still panting as Rick says, "Your brother does not work and play well with others." Daryl stares at the ground as Rick talks to him. "It's not Rick's fault. I had the key." T-dog says. Both men look up at T-dog. "I dropped it." Daryl's brows furrow. "you couldn't pick it up?!" Daryl asks loudly.
"Well, I dropped it in a drain."
Daryl lets out a loud scoff as he looks down at the ground on his hands and knees. He pushes himself off the ground. "if it's supposed to make me feel better, it doesn't." He says harshly as he throws a handful of rocks back onto the ground as walks past t-dog. "Well, maybe this will.." t-dog says. Daryl stops as t-dog continues, "look, I chained the door to the roof—so the geeks couldn't get at him...with a padlock."
"It's gotta count for something," Rick says. Daryl sighs before wiping his eyes again "hell with all y'all!" Daryl shouts as tears begin to form in his eyes once again. "Just tell me where he is," Daryl says desperately, like he's falling apart without his brother. Even though the two fought like cats and dogs, you could tell they loved each other. "so, I can go get him."
"He'll show you, isn't that, right?" Lori says with one hand on the RV door. Rick's breathing heavily as he looks around. "I'm goin' back." Lori lets out a sigh before climbing into the RV angrily. I understand Lori's anger; she doesn't want her husband, whom she hasn't seen in 2 months, to leave again.
"Are you going back?" I ask, turning to Glenn. "If they want me to yeah." Glenn replies with a nod. "I want to go too," I whisper; Glenn's eyes widen. "You can't," he says; I cross my arms over my chest and let out an angry sigh. I don't know why every man I know chooses to treat me like a child. "I can, and I will. I don't give two fucks what you say." Glenn sighs and places a hand on my shoulder. "You. Can't." I scoff and roll my eyes. "I'm goin' anyways. You can't stop me," I say as I push his arm off me and walk over to Shane.
"I'm going with them." Shane laughs but quickly realizes I'm serious, and his smile drops. "no, you're not." I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest. I don't know when he will realize I'm a few years older than Glenn. If Glenn can handle himself out there, so can I. "I can handle myself out there. I want to help!" Shane laughs and grabs my upper arm harshly. "I'm sure you can, but I'm protecting you." I hate how he always uses the excuse that he's protecting me: "I'm not a kid. I can help!" I shout; he rolls his eyes and says, "You sure are actin' like one. If you want to help, cook something or wash some clothes." I push him off of me and scoff. "Fuck you."
Rick walks out of his family's tent, dressed in his police uniform. I'll ask him. Maybe he's not like Shane. "Hey, Rick!" I say, running up to him. He stops, brows furrowed together. I realize I haven't really introduced myself, so I say, " I'm y/n, I have a question." he nods in response, so I say, "Can I go with y'all?" He sighs and looks at me like, 'Do you have any experience?' "I was in that city for a week with only a knife. I know my way around the place," he sighs again, asking, "Can you shoot a gun?" I nod. I've been able to shoot a gun since I was 7 years old. That's just the pros of growing up in rural Georgia with a grandpa who loved to hunt. "I don't care as long as you can handle yourself." I smile. I turn towards Shane, who has a scowl on his face. I grin just to piss him off.
I watch as Rick walks over to Shane; they have a hushed conversation. Shane's obviously pissed about something, maybe it's me, perhaps it's Rick leaving again. Rick begins to walk off while Shane follows shortly behind.
I think Glenn's pissed at me too. I understand he cares about me a lot, but I want to prove myself to the group. I want them to know I'm not just some helpless girl that needs protecting. I walk over to him; he's got his arms crossed with a worried look on his face. "You going with them?" He asks. I nod, and he loudly sighs, "What if you get hurt?" I rolled my eyes; I had been out in that city with only a knife as a weapon for a week. I know how to protect myself. "I'm not. I can handle myself. I did it before," I say, trying to comfort him, but it doesn't seem to work. He grabs my hand and whispers, "Why would you risk your life for Merle Dixon?" with his brows furrowed. I shrug, and He sighs as he drops my hand. "You give me so much anxiety, y/n," he says with a laugh; I laugh as well and say, "And you think you don't do the same to me?" He rolls his eyes before He smiles and grabs my hand.
Shane and Rick walk back into the area where everyone else is bickering. "So, you and Daryl, that's your big plan?" Lori asks Rick from her spot sitting by our campfire. Rick turns to both me and Glenn. Glenn lets out a groan. "Oh, come on." I laugh because he should have known he'd have to go, too. After all, he's our designated errand-runner. "You know the way. You've been there before...in and out, no problem. You said so yourself." Glenn takes his hat off and runs his hand through his hair. "It's not fair of me to ask, I know that, but I'd feel a lot better with you alone. I know she would, too." Rick says, turning to his wife. "That's just great. Now you're not only going to risk y/n's life but three of our men, huh?"
"Four," t-dog corrects.
Daryl huffs. "My day just gets better and better, don't it?" Daryl says as he cleans his arrows. "You see anybody else here stepping up to save your brothers, cracker ass?" T-dog retorts, which makes me laugh because it is quite a coincidence that T-dog is stepping up to help when Merle hates him. "Why you?" Daryl demands. "You wouldn't even begin to understand. You don't speak my language."
Dale walks over and says, "That's four."
"It's not just four. You're putting every single one of us at risk. Just know that, Rick. Come on, you saw that, Walker. It was here. It was in camp. They're moving out of the cities. They come back; we need every ablebody we've got, " Shane says, getting closer to Rick. "We need 'em here. We need 'em to protect the camp." he's pissed. He doesn't want us out there anymore, especially for Merle. He didn't give a shit about any of us, only himself, so why were we even going. To make ourselves feel better, to not have that guilt on our backs.
"It seems to me what you really need most here...are more guns."
"Right, the guns." Glenn says, slowly walking forward. Everyone, including me, needs clarification about what he's talking about. "Wait, what guns?" Shane asks with his eyebrows furrowed. "Six shotguns, two high-powered rifles, over a dozen handguns." Rick states. "I cleaned out the cage back at the station before I left. I dropped it when I got swarmed in Atlanta. It's just sitting there on the street, waiting to be picked up." Rick explained. "Ammo?" Shane asks quietly. "700 rounds, assorted." Rick confirms. Shane bows his head, thinking about what we should do. "You went through hell to find us. Yo-you just got here, and you're gonna turn around and leave?" Lori just couldn't understand why he would risk his life, leaving again. But we needed those guns and ammo. Finding Merle would just be a side quest. "Dad, I-I don't want you to go." Carl stutters out. "To hell with the guns. Shane is right. Merle Dixon? He's not worth one of your lives, even with guns thrown in." Shane runs his hands through his hair as Rick walks towards Lori. Lori stands up and says, "Tell me. Make me understand."
"I owe a debt to a man I met and his little boy." Lori looks down at Carl like, 'We have a kid too?!' Rick grabs Lori's hand. "Lori, if they hadn't taken me in, I'd have died." He says quietly, "It's because of them that I made it back to you at all. They said they'd follow me to Atlanta. they'll walk into the same trap I did if I don't warn him." Lori looks down at her feet before whispering, "What's stoppin' you?" Rick sighs before saying, "the walkie-talkie, the one in the bag I dropped, he's got the other one. Our plan was to connect when they got closer."
Shane's now sat down by his jeep, rubbing at his face, stressed, he's stressed. What are you really supposed to do in this situation? We really need those guns, but we could lose people if we did it. "These are our walkies?" Shane asks. Rick nods and says, "Yeah." with a sigh. "So, use the c.b...what's wrong with that?" Andrea suggests. "The c.b's fine. It's the walkies that suck to crap..date back to the '70s, don't match any other bandwidth, not even the scanners in our cars" Shane explains. Lori avoids Rick's eye contact, looking just behind or at her feet. "I need that bag." Lori doesn't reply. She's just speechless. Rick walks past Lori and to their son. He kneels down in front of Carl. "okay?" Carl just nods. "All right," Rick whispers as he ruffles Carls's hair.
Glenn turns to me. "We're both coming back alive. I swear if you don't, I will literally kill you." I let out a laugh. "Well then, if you don't, I'll do the same," he smiles. "Deal?" "Deal." We both laugh as I lean my head onto his shoulder.
-
I'm sitting in my tent, riffling through my belongings, looking for the handgun my granddad lent me before I headed off to college. I finally found it hidden under a pile of blankets. I stuffed it into my bag and stepped out of my tent. Glenn's already in the large truck Rick and them brought back. Daryl's in the back with t-dog, while Glenn's in the front. I walk over and hop up into the back with Daryl. "You find your gun?" Glenn asks as he turns back towards me. I nod as I take a seat on the metal floor. Rick and Shane walk up to the back of the truck. Shane places down a large black bag. "Hey, Rick, got any rounds in the python?" Shane asks. "No," Rick replies, shaking his head. "Last time we were on the gun range, I'm sure I wound up with a few loose rounds of yours."
Daryl sits next to me and takes my gun out of my hand. He examines it briefly before asking, "You know how to use this, darlin'?" I scoff and roll my eyes. "Yeah, I do," I say as I grab my gun back from him and tuck it back into my bag. "You know how to use that?" I ask sarcastically as I point to his crossbow. He laughs, "Of course I fuckin' do." Rick and Shane walk away, and Daryl stands up. He walks over and closes the back of the truck. The truck starts up, and we're going.
-
We're driving over some train tracks, which is a bit bumpy but not too bad. "He'd better be okay. It's my only word on the matter." Daryl says to T-dog it's a warning; if Merle isn't alive, he's going to hurt someone, and it'll probably be T-dog. "He will," I whisper. Of course, he will. He's fucking Merle. He'd be able to be hit by a truck, and he'd still be alright. "I told you the geeks can't get to him," T-dog says, leaning his head against the metal wall of the truck. "The only thing that's gonna get through that door is us." t-dog adds.
We come to a slow stop, and Glenn takes out the keys. he then turns to us, "We walk from here." We all get out of the car. Both T-dog and Daryl hop out first, then me.
-
Glenn pushes a broken part of a wired fence out of the way so we can all get through. "Merle first or guns?" Rick asks as he turns around towards us. "Merle! We ain't even having this conversation!" Daryl shouts. "We are." Rick says and then turns to Glenn, "You know the geography. It's your call." Glenn sighs before saying, "Merle's closest. The guns would mean doubling back. Merle first." a little out of breath. Daryl's definitely happy about that.
-
We're walking through a department store, and we're all a little on Guard. I've got my gun held out, ready to shoot any moment. We hear a Walker shuffling around, so we all freeze. Rick spots it and points it out to us before we slowly walk around the store, trying to stay as quiet and out of sight as possible. Daryl approaches the rotten, growling thing, and he raises his crossbow "damn, you are one ugly skank." He mutters. It starts to growl at him, getting ready to lunge, but he quickly shoots it straight in the head. It falls to the ground with a thud, and Daryl quickly pulls his arrow out of its head.
We made it to the top with hardly any more walker interference, which I'm grateful for. We all sprint up to the door that leads to the roof, Rick's there first, holding the chain so t-dog can cut it off. He cuts the chain, pulls it off, and Daryl kicks open the door before he runs out. "Merle! Merle!" he shouts as he gets out onto the roof. We follow him as Daryl looks for his brother, but he's not there, just handcuffs cuffed to a pipe, a saw, and a hand.
"No! No!" Daryl cries out over and over again. I feel for Daryl, I really do, but did we all really think Merle was going to stay up there? There was no doubt in my mind that Merle wouldn't find a way to get his ass off this roof, even if that meant sawing off his own hand.

If your requests are open, can I Ask moriarty brothers and Sebastian Moran with very short S/O who's normalny sweet and cheerfull but turns out to be a suprisingly great brawler who can be extremely brutal in fights? :)
As a shorty myself, here's my answer;
~~~~~
Tumblr media
William
Man is a giant to you
Heck the moment you step into the Moriarty house, everyone (except for Fred) are giants
William would try to hide his fondness of your height
But fails
He has that one sweet smile just for you
He's whipped
Especially in bed
intimately and comforting
He'd hold you tightly into his chest
DONT MAKE ME GET STARTED WITH HUGS
warm
you'd even fall asleep while hugging
until...
smol y/n fights
yknow how cats are cute, soft, floofy?
until they attack?
yep. thats how you are.
Will is amazed and shocked
but nevertheless, he's worried about you
until one day, someone messed with you while you were shopping together
you smacked the culprit with the new skillet you just bought
man is speechless
"Oh dear, you did well. Let's go get a cup of tea." he'd say as a reward
"Thank you, honey."
Tumblr media
Louis
You'd help him around in the kitchen and the manor
He'd find it adorable that you cant reach some spots
But he'll gladly help you
From passing the cloth to him
To him carrying you in his arms so you could do it yourself
It's just because he doesn't want you to get hurt from climbing on the stool or whatever
Set after timeskip
You and Louis are happily married
William is home
But there are some assholes that are still talking shit about Albert and Will
Without any hesitance, you flipped the chair you were sitting on at the culprit
It's been awhile since Louis saw you fight, but he's still surprised by your skills no matter what
He's even surprised to see you brawling with a man who catcalled you
You were pregnant at the time, belly has shown, but still strong as ever
Louis is too surprised and amazed
By your strength despite being in a vulnerable situation
"Are you okay, my dear?"
"I'm fine, just tired. Little bean was cheering for me when I was hitting that person."
'I married a great wife'
Tumblr media
Albert
Despite being within the smaller side
Albert was more impressed than surprised by your strength
From multitasking house work
To helping out in the missions
There are disadvantages due to your short height
But you'd find ways to reach and hide
Which made you a great spy alongside Fred
Back when he was in prison, you'd always try to make him smile and comfort him
And he was appreciative of your efforts
And made him love you more
After his release, he was caught off guard when you managed to hurt Moran by hitting his pressure point
"Looks like you've lost, Moran. Good job, My Love"
"Oh no, it's nothing. He deserves it for not doing the housework."
Tumblr media
Moran
THIS MAN IS HUGE
There was once people thought that you were either siblings or parent and child
It was a good advantage for disguises but
He's your one and only
But you called him.... Daddy
aight
He was attracted by your personality, which slowly made him notice your physical traits more
Your short height made him smirk
Teases all the way
Until he had said something to try to cheer you up, but made it worse
You had squeezed his hand so hard that he screamed
And you even took your anger out by punching a sand bag
That left a mark of your small fist and the force
'Did I marry a cat or a lion?'
"Sorry honey, did that hurt?" You'd ask
Another smirk
Y'all know where's that gonna lead to.
~~~~~
tbvh, i'd like to hug all of them. i love tall people, they're so nice to hug. can i have a william please? I'm sorry, I hope you enjoy! Sorry if it's rushed.

mama you been on my mind
Tumblr media
pairing: sam x reader | word count: 965 | warnings: one curse word, one super duper slight implication of nsfw | my masterlist
summary: this one's more about the vibes if i'm being honest, but it's about sam and the reader spending time together at a botanical garden.
author's note: i'm not sure how i feel about this one, but i couldn't get the idea out of my head, so i figured i'd share it with y'all. i feel like the idea could've been a bit more fleshed out, so i might come back and edit this later. we'll just see how it goes. also sorry that this one isn't quite as happy as my other fics/blurbs. also it was inspired by and named after the song "mama you been on my mind", specifically the jeff buckley cover, which i'll link below.
Laughter rang through Sam’s ears as you ran ahead of him, giggling and ushering him to follow you. As he caught up, he saw you pointing to a bush of tiny pink flowers. They smelled like heaven and were probably the prettiest plant in the whole garden. Sam watched you as you stared at them, unable to stop the smile that spread across his features.
You eventually turned to look back at him, asking “What’s got you all smiley?” as a quizzical look overcame your face.
“Nothing,” he replied, giving his head a small shake, “It’s just a really nice day.”
You looked at the sky above you and let a slight grin take hold, “Yeah, it really is. I’ve been hoping for weather like this.”
“Me too,” he agreed, “Just enough sun to not be cold, but enough clouds to not sweat our asses off.”
You let out a small giggle. “Yep. Couldn’t have said it better myself, Sammy.” He smiled in return, and you let a moment of silence fall between you, happy to just be in each other’s company. You looked at the different plants and flowers as you wandered down the garden’s path, occasionally pointing one out to Sam. A butterfly flew by at one point, landing on your head just long enough for him to snap a few pictures.
"How'd they look?" you asked eagerly.
"I think they're gonna come out beautiful," he replied, "Your pictures always do."
A small blush formed across your cheeks. "Thank you, Sammy," you giggled, "You're always so sweet."
He quickly shushed you, placing a finger over his lips. "Don't say that so loud," he said in a joking whisper, "I have a rock star reputation to uphold."
You rolled your eyes. "Whatever you say, Mr. Rockstar. I still think you're sweet"
A small chuckle left his lips, and then the comfortable silence returned as you two strolled along. You went back to looking at the foliage in quiet wonder while Sam could barely keep his eyes off of you. He focused on every excited breath you took and every plant that you seemed to take special note of. He finally broke the silence when your path forked into three directions, asking “So, where to next?”
After a brief moment of consideration, you replied, “That way,” pointing to the rightmost path, “i think we’ve already gone down the other two, and this one should come out by the cafe.”
“Oh, thank god,” Sam said, moving his hand over his stomach, “I’m starved.”
“Sammy, you should’ve said you were hungry! I wouldn’t have taken so much time stopping along the way,” you answered, a small wave of guilt painting your features.
“No, doll, it’s fine,” he assured you, “I want you to have fun without feeling rushed.”
You gave a reluctant nod. “Okay, but next time say something.”
“I promise,” he replied, “Now let’s finish up this trail.” He watched you excitedly walk ahead, taking in the wonder of your surroundings, glancing back occasionally to make sure he was following along. Seeing you so effortlessly happy made his heart swell. Joy radiated from you, and it made you all the more beautiful.
These were the moments that Sam treasured most. The times when you were so overcome with the world around you that everything else seemed to fade away. They were the moments when you were most yourself, and they were the moments that would stay in Sam’s mind for long after. It was times like these that made Sam remember why he was so in love with you.
He eventually caught up to you in the trail, and you excitedly grabbed his hand, pulling him to the latest plant you had seen. Soft laughter fell from his lips as you continued to point out flower after flower, elation pouring from every inch of you.
The two of you neared the end of the trail when your phone began to buzz. You quickly retrieved it from your bag and answered the call.
“Hey!” you began, happiness still coloring your voice. “No, I’m at the gardens with Sam. We’re about to have lunch,” you said, nudging Sam and gesturing to the cafe ahead. “Oh yeah, I’d love that! At six thirty?” you paused for a moment, “Okay, I’ll see you then, babe. Love you!” You placed your phone back in your bag and turned to Sam.
“Who was that?” he asked with genuine curiosity.
“Chris. He wants to take me to see that new movie I was talking about the other day,” you explained.
“Ooooh a date night, huh?” Sam teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
You gave him a small shove, “Yes, Samuel, my boyfriend wants to have a date night.”
He let a small giggle fall from his lips, “Well that sounds fun. You want me to drop you at home after lunch so you can get ready?”
“Yeah, that’d be really nice of you, Sam,” you replied, “Thanks.”
“It’s the least I can do,” he answered, “Now let’s go get some lunch.”
“Alright,” you laughed, walking ahead to the small cafe. Sam stayed behind, watching as the sun painted your hair and reflected off the small bracelets on your wrist with a small smile on his face.
He knew that you would probably never love him in the exact way he loved you, but in this moment, that was okay. He didn’t need a lifetime of sacred “I love you”s or secret touches. He was grateful for the love he had and the time he got to spend with you, and really, that was all he needed. It was enough to bask in your light and feel its warmth. And with that thought in mind, Sam moved forward, content to spend an afternoon in your glow.

also i have this that i never finished but the splatfest is over so i doubt i ever will now LOL
“You lip-synch, we drip ink!”
“Ay! (It’s Shiver, Frye, and Big Man!)”
“Aren’t they so cute? Takes me back to when we used to do Inkopolis News,” Callie giggles as Marie settles next to her on the couch.
“I dunno, I think we were way cooler,” Marie says, but she’s smiling into her coffee mug. Deep Cut’s voices sound out from the TV.
“What’s got you so excited, Big Man?”
“Ay, ay! (It’s Splatfest time!)”
“Oooh!! What’s the theme, what’s the theme?”
Deep Cut’s anticipation is contagious as they wait for the theme to be revealed. Callie finds herself leaning forward in her seat.
"What do you think it'll be this time?" Marie muses.
"I dunno, but whatever it is I bet it'll be tons of fun as always!"
Frye makes a drum roll sound as the results come up on screen. "Bam!"
Marie chokes on her coffee. Callie pats her back as she goes into a coughing fit.
Frye jumps in surprise. "The theme is…! Uh, what?"
Shiver looks caught off guard for a moment before continuing seamlessly. "Who would make the best leader? Shiver, Frye, or Big Man! Quite the interesting theme!"
"Obviously it's me, I mean, look at me! I'm adorable! And I'm super strong and an awesome dancer," Frye pumps her fists in the air.
Shiver flutters their fan. "That's great, Frye, but I'm the obvious choice for this one. My vocals are unmatched, and I'm graceful and cool and I literally ride a giant shark. What's not to love?"
"Yeah, but who always gets us out of trouble during raids? I always come up with the best escape pla-"
"Ay… Ay! (Frye, we're not supposed to talk about that on TV… But anyway, I'm the best leader! I'm always the one looking out for you guys. Vote for me!)"
The Splatcast fades into background noise as Callie and Marie sit dumbfounded. Marie can't will her hands to stop shaking.
"This Splatfest…"
"It's going to be so much fun! Right?" Callie smiles widely.
"No! It's not!" Marie's brow creases so deep her manager would scold her about wrinkles, but right now she can't bring herself to care. "Cal, they're gonna- This splatfest is gonna hurt them."
"That's not gonna happen and you know it." Callie holds her cousin by the shoulders and smiles in that disarming way she's perfected for years. "This is not the same as last time. Everything is gonna be alright, okay?"
Her voice cracks embarrassingly, so Marie clears her throat. Her voice is smaller than she intends when she asks, "Are you sure?"
The grip on her shoulder tightens, but only so briefly that she thinks she might have imagined it, before Callie's hands pull away. "Deep Cut can hold their own, trust me. It'll take some sort of world-shattering event to tear those three apart. Like a pineapple-tomato-pizza splatfest or something!"
Marie laughs despite herself. "I think this theme is pretty world-shattering though."
She sighs and slumps back onto the couch. She searches Callie's face but all she finds is unwavering confidence. She hasn't stopped smiling, sitting casually on her hands.
It doesn't seem necessary, but she'd rather not make the same mistake twice.
"You okay too, Cal?"
Callie looks at the buildings outside. "Yep! All good."
Finally, she looks back at Marie. "I promise, Deep Cut will not end up running away and getting hypnotized," she says with a chuckle. "Even if they look really good with shades."
Marie huffs and flicks her on the arm, earning her a pained giggle from Callie. "Good. They better not." Then, more quietly, she mumbles, "I wouldn't wish that on anybody."

Overwhelmed (Vinny x Garmadon) Part 35
(I suggest you check out parts 1-34 if you haven't already)
(With Garmadon) The oni woke up an hour after he fell asleep and looked around, he quickly noticed Vinny wasn't in bed. He panicked a bit before looking at a clock and realising, "It's been and hour where is he...maybe he went to eat something...?" Garmadon thought before looking around again and noticing that the bathroom door was closed. "Is he still in there...?" The oni thought before getting up and going to knock on the door. He hesitated for a moment, "Maybe he wants to be alone..." he said. He eventually worked up enough guts and knocked on the door. "Vinny...? Are you in there...?" Garmadon asked.
Vinnys' eyes widened from inside the bathroom hearing that and he looked up at Enji who looked like he was thinking about what to do. "I'm going to make this room sound proof and you're going to lie to him" Enji hissed to Vinny, who just nodded as he heard the knocks again. Enji snapped his fingers and nodded at Vinny. "Y-Yea Garm I'm in here!" The cameraman called out as he clutched his hand and looked at his foot that was stabbed as well.
"Are you alright in there...? It's been an hour..." Garmadon called out from outside. Enji looked at Vinny annoyingly as if telling him to hurry up and answer, "Yea...I'm fine, just trying to look for something so I can have a shower!" Vinny called out as he held back a pained whimper. Enji looked at the cameraman and smirked before turning on the water to the shower, (Don't worry they're not showering together) "I'm guessing you found it...?" Garmadon called out, "Yep, just give me a while" Vinny responded as he held his hand tighter trying to keep it from bleeding more.
"Well...okay just worried about you...you haven't been yourself...." Garmadon said out as he pressed his hand against the bathroom door, his tone of voice was sad and filled with worry. "I-I know....I'm sorry just r-really tired..." Vinny replied as he rested his head on the other side of the bathroom door. "I'll...see you later...love you..." the oni said before walking back to the bad and dropping on it. "Love you too..." The cameraman replied quieter.
Enji let out a groan before snapping his fingers, "You're so sappy!" the sadistic finger said out annoyingly. Vinny looked away and whimpered in pain, "Well...you're gonna have a shower either way and I've had my fun so get yourself up and have a shower" Enji said before sitting on the sink. "I-I can't....you stabbed my foot..." Vinny responded his voice was tainted with pain. Enji groaned before grabbing Vinny and putting him on the toilet seat, "Y'know be glad I'm doing this for you" Enji said as he grabbed a towel and put it on the side for Vinny. "Y-you're only doing this b-because you don't want to be caught..." Vinny responded quietly as he looked away.
"You're right~! And you won't be telling anyone about me...you're going to be telling the old man that what happened was like a dream in a dream~ Understand~?" Enji asked as he lifted Vinnys' chin, "Y-yea..."The cameraman responded. "Good...now you made quite a mess" Enji sighed out staring at the blood on the ground, "Can't have anyone noticing that~ And...here's something for those stabs really can't have people seeing that" he added before snapping his fingers and the blood disappeared.
"I'll leave you to it now...I'm weird, but....I don't watch people shower...I have more morals than that!" Enji laughed out before holding up the middle finger and disappearing back into the mirror.
Vinny was left alone and looked around before trying to get up and failing miserably, he stripped off his clothes and limped into the shower before hissing in pain as the water hit his stab wounds. he carefully washed his body before leaning against the wall and beginning to sob quietly, he was so sick of this guy, he just hurts him then just leaves.
He scrubbed his body and hissed at the soap touched his foot and hand it stung badly, he eventually finished in the shower and dried himself off before sitting down and carefully applying bandages on himself, he did his hand first and then foot it was pretty straight forward but once he finished he left the bathroom, and looked at Garmadon thankful he was sleeping, he then put on blue sweatpants and a white shirt with a blue jumper.
He lied down on the bed once he finished at looked at the roof for what felt like years, he really didn't want to go to sleep as he thought he would have another one of those nightmares, but he eventually rolled onto his side, facing the other way to Garmadon and slowly falling asleep.
(I was in such an angsty mood and thought "What better way to be angst than to torment a character!" then I tormented Vinny because this story was too wholesome for me)

Time for Wingman Wayne (Ronance Edition™) part 6! | Read pt1 here | ao3 link
'Are you free next Sunday?' Steve asks Robin on Tuesday evening, when they're wrapping up their shared shift at Family Video.
'Yeah, why? Eddie didn't ditch your date plans, did he? Should I be mad at him?'
'No, don't be mad at him!' Steve exclaims. 'Date's still on. We just decided we should make it a double date.'
Robin arches her eyebrows at him. 'Do I need to remind you that I'm very much not dating anyone?'
Steve rolls his eyes in response. 'Yeah, I am aware of that,' he says. 'That's why we invited someone for you.'
'Um... Have you already forgotten how that worked out last time?'
'Yeah, and this time I actually know who we're setting you up with, so this is no doubt gonna be a success! She's really cute.'
Robin hesitates. She feels skeptical about the whole thing, but maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to actually meet someone new, because getting over Nancy hasn't exactly been easy so far and it's getting a little pathetic.
'Okay, yeah, let's do it,' she decides.
'YES!' Steve shouts out, in the same over-excited way he did back when she said yes to being set up with Mr. Munson's mystery match.
'So what's the plan?' she asks.
'Apparently there's this tea garden at the other side of Lover's Lake that opened this spring,' Steve says, and Robin freezes. Oh no. The tea garden. The perfect second date proposed by Nancy right before Robin told her how there was never gonna be a second date. Suddenly, this whole thing seems like an extremely bad idea.
'What's wrong?' Steve asks her, perceptive as always.
She can't tell him. Of course she can't tell him. So she plasters on a fake smile and says, 'Nothing! The tea garden it is. Um, are you sure Eddie is gonna be into that, by the way? Doesn't really sound like his kind of thing.'
Steve snickers. 'It was his idea, actually. He's way more romantic than he seems, you know.' His eyes start lighting up in that adorable yet slightly concerning way which warns Robin that a totally vomit-inducing monologue is gonna come out of his mouth. 'Last night, he –'
And yep, that's her cue to tune the fuck out of whatever story this is going to be.
Instead, she lets her thoughts wander to that stupid tea garden. She had rambled on about it for almost half an hour on Eddie's porch, so either Eddie totally forgot about that or had shamelessly stolen the idea from her without even realizing that a double date right there would be literal torture for her. And honestly, both possibilities are kind of rude of him.
---
Sunday comes around way faster than Robin would have liked and she spends way less time spreading clothes around her room and squinting at herself in the mirror than she did the last time she got ready for a date. It just seems a bit pointless, this time. It's too soon. Fuck, she should've said no to Steve's suggestion when she had the chance. Because now she's going on a date while her heart isn't in it at all, and this girl might be genuinely cool but she won't stand a chance against the perfection that was Nancy Wheeler, and that's actually really unfair towards this new girl that she hasn't even met yet. God, she's probably gonna be super sweet and caring and funny and deserving of so much better than Robin can give her right now. Fuck this. She should probably call Steve and tell him she's ill or something.
But then the doorbell rings, which means Steve is already here to pick her up, and she has no choice but to face the music and go to the goddamn tea garden that's only gonna remind her of the one person she can't have.
She tries her very best to feign excitement when she gets into Steve's car. Luckily, Steve himself is too caught up in his own enthusiasm about their plans to notice Robin's weird mood. He keeps talking her ears off about how cute she's looking and how she'll for sure meet the love of her life this time. She suspects that he still feels guilty about the whole Nancy thing and that's why he's overcompensating, but it's actually just as sweet as it is annoying, so she decides to let it slide this time.
'So are you gonna tell me her name this time?' Robin asks when they stop at Forest Hills and wait for Eddie to get out of his trailer.
'Okay, so I actually do know her name this time, but I'm not gonna tell you,' he tells her, with a weird smile around his lips that tells her she's missing something.
'Oh my God, Steve.' She groans and lets her head fall against the headrest behind her.
'What?'
'You did something. No, don't look at me like that! What did you do?!'
'Nothing!' he exclaims, way too fast.
'Steve,' she says, deadpan. 'It's someone I know, isn't it? Wait, please tell me you're not trying to get me back together with Vickie, that'd be really awkward and I'm not –'
'No, it's not Vickie,' he's quick to interrupt her.
She squints at him, trying to figure out what exactly is going on in his brain. The look on his face is way too guilty.
'Did you set me up with Tammy Thompson?!'
He bursts out into loud laughter, which at least tells Robin that she won't be going on a date with her crush from years ago that Steve's been relentlessly teasing her about ever since he found out about it. That's good news, she supposes, because that would probably have been the single most embarrassing thing to ever happen to her and she might have to move states afterwards.
'What's so funny?' Eddie asks, flopping down on the backseat and pressing a kiss against the skin of Steve's neck.
'Steve won't tell me who you guys are setting me up with,' Robin states, turning around to face Eddie. 'Would you maybe care to fill me in on this little detail of my own love life?'
But Eddie only grins his signatory broad devilish grin while mysteriously wiggling his eyebrows.
'It's a surprise,' he says in a conspiratorial tone, which really doesn't help ease her suspicions in the slightest.
'Don't look at me like that Buckley, I promise you you'll like her, okay?' he says, his eyes suddenly all wide and innocent. 'She has Wayne's stamp of approval. If you don't trust us, can you at least trust uncle Wayne?'
Robin sighs and leans back into the seat while Steve drives them off the trailer park. She tries very hard – and fails, of course – not to think about what happened the last time she got set up with someone who had “Wayne's stamp of approval.”
