“Everyone likes Humaira "Hani" Khan—she’s easy going and one of the most popular girls at school. But when she comes out to her friends as bisexual, they invalidate her identity, saying she can’t be bi if she’s only dated guys. Panicked, Hani blurts out that she’s in a relationship…with a girl her friends absolutely hate—Ishita "Ishu" Dey. Ishu is the complete opposite of Hani. She’s an academic overachiever who hopes that becoming head girl will set her on the right track for college. But Ishita agrees to help Hani, if Hani will help her become more popular so that she stands a chance of being elected head girl.
Despite their mutually beneficial pact, they start developing real feelings for each other. But relationships are complicated, and some people will do anything to stop two Bengali girls from achieving happily ever after.”
Girls Like Girls by Hayley Kiyoko-
“It’s summertime and 17-year-old Coley has found herself alone, again. Forced to move to rural Oregon after just losing her mother, she is in no position to risk her already fragile heart. But when she meets Sonya, the attraction is immediate.
Coley worries she isn't worthy of love. Up until now, everyone she's loved has left her. And Sonya's never been with a girl before. What if she's too afraid to show up for Coley? What if by opening her heart, Coley's risking it all?
They both realize that when things are pushed down, and feelings are forced to shrivel away, Coley and Sonya will be the ones to shrink. It’s not until they accept the love they fear and deserve most, that suddenly the song makes sense.”

Review: TW//: islamophobia, racism, biphobia.
I had high hopes going into this one cuz I’ve already read this author’s debut and loved it dearly; and guess what? this book didn’t disappoint!  I really liked the story! It’s a well done fluffy sapphic YA romance that featured two amazingly flawed characters!  I had my personal gripes with both of the mcs at times and their decisions; however, I understand they’re teens and they’re supposed to make plenty of mistakes!  What made me dock a star from my rating is that I wasn’t satisfied with how the conflict at the end was resolved, or rather swept under the rug. I wish if Hani gave us a little glimpse and spoke about her friendship status!
Definitely recommend it!

Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar
Tumblr media
Format: Novel
Genre: Romance
Humaira “Hani” Khan and Ishita “Ishu” Dey are polar opposites. Despite often being lumped together as the two Bengali girls in school, Hani is easygoing, sociable, and popular, while Ishu is a driven overachiever focused on preparing for her college career. When Hani comes out to her best friends as bisexual, disaster ensues – they tell her she can’t possibly be bisexual if she has only ever dated guys. In a quick attempt to gain her friends’ validation, Hani blurts that she actually is in a relationship with a girl – Ishu Dey. The two girls make a pact when Ishu realizes that this fake relationship could benefit her, too. Ishu knows becoming head girl at school would improve her academic record, but to do so, she must be elected, and to be elected, you have to be popular, and Hani can help her with that. As the two continue fake dating, real feelings begin developing between the two, and their relationship becomes more complicated as each girl confronts questions about their identity, their families, and their friends.

Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron-
It’s 200 years after Cinderella found her prince, but the fairy tale is over. Teen girls are now required to appear at the Annual Ball, where the men of the kingdom select wives based on a girl’s display of finery. If a suitable match is not found, the girls not chosen are never heard from again.
Sixteen-year-old Sophia would much rather marry Erin, her childhood best friend, than parade in front of suitors. At the ball, Sophia makes the desperate decision to flee, and finds herself hiding in Cinderella’s mausoleum. There, she meets Constance, the last known descendant of Cinderella and her step sisters. Together they vow to bring down the king once and for all–and in the process, they learn that there’s more to Cinderella’s story than they ever knew . . .
This fresh take on a classic story will make readers question the tales they’ve been told, and root for girls to break down the constructs of the world around them.
