I first met Janine Charles-Farray when she worked in promotions at GayelleTV. GayelleTV was in St James, right around the corner from my house and I'd gotten my introduction to visual capture working with the very early Banyan. I was out of daily employment and offered to photograph the channel's presenters. Janine would schedule the photography. Our paths would intersect on regular occasions after that. For a private viewing of Damian Marcano's God Loves the Fighter for the TTFF, back when I did more regular reviewing of cultural matters. An occasional social media repost. An invite to a cultural event she was promoting that I'd almost never have the itme to accept and on this occasion, a priceless opportunity to photograph the rehearsals for Pat Bishop's interpretation of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's cantata trilogy, The Song of Hiawatha. Janine loved the arts with an infectious passion. There aren't enough like her working in the creative space. #gayelletv #lyndersaydigital #trinidad #westindies #banyan #ttff #portofspain #trinidadandtobago #digitalphotography #activist #performer #lydians #singer #communications (at Queen's Hall) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjOuuwvuLiY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The Eastern origin of Chess is undisputed, but when and by whom it was introduced into Europe is unknown. According to Herodius, the Lydians suffered from a long and severe famine in the reign of Atys, and in order to forget their misery, invented many games, particularly dice. Previous writers attribute the invention of games of chance to the Greeks during the siege of Troy, and Cicero mentions games in the camp; but it does not follow that these games were either chess, cards, or dice. They may have been knuckle-bones or jack-stones, as that game was known in very early days, and pictures representing persons playing with them have been found among Egyptian antiquities.

Kizaru is a very fascinating character and I love seeing this example of this type of person.
In the beginning of this arc, he also admitted that he's just a tool of the government and the celestial dragons. It's like, he's fully aware of what he is to the government and to people. He's fully aware of all the atrocities they commit and he commits in their name. He's fully aware that most of what they, and he, do and stand for is wrong and awful. He just doesn't care. Or at least just doesn't care enough to do anything or even think for himself. He's lazy. (Yeah that's the whole thing with his character). Dangerously lazy. It seems like he does have feelings on what the government does, like he doesn't like/want it, he cares about these people who he considers friends, he's sad to see them get hurt. But he chooses to be "a cog in the machine" and never stand up for anyone or fight back.
He's knowledgeable of all the horrible shit the government does, doesn't even like it himself, but does nothing. Actually he does worse than nothing, he does whatever they want him to without complaint, and because it's easier I guess? Easier than fighting back? Easier to just do what you're told than fight for people's lives.
