Overthinking names and color palettes of FNaF characters: William addition

I do kinda want to start with the last name Afton, fun fact is that as a first name it’s apparently a girl’s name. There’s really not too much to say here, especially since going into the etymology of that would be a different post entirely and one more focused on the entire family. Typically means evening/afternoon or is referring to the Afton river.

The name William is definitely an interesting choice. I wouldn’t be too surprised if it was picked just because it sounded good, but that would kill the point of the post. Resolute protector, determined, strong helmet, strong-willed warrior. Ol’ Bill was certainly filled with determination. Protector… eh… that’s a bit more difficult to give him. I suppose, to a certain extent, he did care about keeping his things safe. Not necessarily in a good way, but the Fredbear plush and attempting to keep Elizabeth away from Circus Baby. Still not exactly father of the year or the best at keeping his kids safe, but didn’t do worse at the latter than Henry did, at least?

Name comes from two different words, both from Old Norse. “Wiljô” and “helmaz”, meaning “will/wish/desire” and “helm/helmet” respectively. By the time it shifted to “Wilhelm” the latter part also meant “protection/protector”

Biblically speaking, the name means fortune, protection, and king. Which is a better transition than I could’ve hoped right to color.

William has two colors, obviously his big one is purple. Purple guy and all that. But he also has gold/yellow as a secondary color. Both because of the Spring Bonnie suit and the toast badge. The reason I mentioned above it was a good transition is because both purple and gold are colors heavily associated with royalty.

I don’t think I’ll spend too much time explaining the history of purple, especially since I’m not sure how common knowledge it is, but it used to be incredibly expensive to make purple dye so it was a rich people thing. Also used to symbolize independence, creativity, extravagance, and pride. William Afton was certainly not a man of a small ego.

Yellow is a color typically associated with happiness, warmth, and optimism. Not exactly the right vibe. What’s more of the right vibe is that in some ancient religions it was a sacred color! Sometimes it was due to worship of the sun, but also in Ancient Egypt it was believed the gods had gold skin and bone, as such they were depicted in yellow. We also have the term “yellow journalism” to depict misleading, sensationalized, or non-legitimate journalism. In other words, in reference to deceit. It’s also a color of danger. A warning to stay away. In Mexico, yellow marigold flowers symbolize death.

Perceived godliness, deceit, danger, and death? Sounds a bit more like William.

I posted this on my DA account but I forgot to put it here so here you go:

I was in the mood to do a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Barbie mashup with Poppy, so I made her doll friends just like her! Also, this is my first time drawing on the computer so sorry if it looks out of wack.

(Also, I'm sorry if I didn't do Rosetta and Lily Lee's clothes justice. This is my first time drawing these girls.)

Backstories down below:

- Poppy Playtime, the first of her kind. Back in 1950, she really put Playtime. Co on the map after she gained popularity. Playtime. Co has fought and won it over many toys during Poppy's time, even decreasing the popularity of Woody's Roundup down to zero, which people claim that what killed the creator. However, Poppy was different to her doll friends. She was once a human girl that had her life taken away the same way her parents' lives were taken (thanks to William Afton). Despite everything she's been through, Poppy has found some confidence over the past few years, becoming who she has become today. Her element is Fearless and her element color is blue.

- Violet Vale is the first Black Poppy that was created a year after Poppy was (and before Bron was made), but Playtime. Co held back on releasing Violet until the early 90's, thanks to the collab with Freddy Fazbear's Pizza to re-promote Poppy. Her element is Honesty and her element color is purple.

- Lily Lee is the first Chinese Poppy that was created for a young Chinese princess back in the 60's, but she was only sold from there until she would be sold to Chinese and Asian immigrants in the 90's. Her element is Kindness and her element color is pink.

- Rosetta Romero is the first Latino Poppy that was created in the 1970's, but she never saw a public release until the 90's. Her element is Generosity and her element color is red.

- Penny Pansy is the second Poppy to release in 1951. She was really made for the girls who were "average", as Playtime. Co put in, but the backlash from moms about Poppy being different to Penny was "harmful" to their kids so Penny was taken off the shelves after her release. She wouldn't be sold until the 90's along with the other Poppy dolls. Her element is Loyalty and her element color is yellow.

- And last, Maria Marigold was released the same year as Penny did, but she never got any backlash from being different to Poppy. Maria was remastered in the 90's with a brand-new look so she didn't look similar to Poppy. Her element is Laughter and her element color is orange.

Marigold Emily is a fucking real one, let me tell y’all that

Her husband walked out on her in 1953, leaving her to care for three young kids on her own. She worked long hours which met that Henry and Jen had to take care of themselves and their little brother, Lewis

Clara started sleeping over on the weekends and Marigold started thinking of her as another daughter and the twins were teens Peter started staying over as well as William and his little sister, Eleanor-Josephine

She was the most stable adult in all of their lives. She took of Clara after her mother died, took Peter in after his dad kicked him out, and helped William with the paperwork to gain custody of Eleanor-Josephine

Marigold also treated the Afton kids like they were her actual grandkids from the moment Michael was born

After Charlie died, she tried to help Henry but it was clear he didn’t want help so she flew out to help Evangeline and Sammy instead. When Evangeline died and Jen was named Sammy’s legal guardian, she was there to play support as well

Marigold died in 1997 at age 78

#Clara’s mom died when she was 17 and her dad traveled for work - Clara spent the week with her grandparents then the weekend with Marigold #I know I didn’t mention Lewis but there’s a whole thing about him and his daughter - they’re some of my most favorite fn-af ocs #okay her and Jen have a bit of a rocky relationship but Marigold would still do anything for her #Sammy was 16 when Evangeline died #“but glitch - this is all Marigold helping others what about her?#to which I say - Marigold stays busy so she doesn’t have to think. she does genuinely love her family and would do it anyway but that’s-#-part of the reason #(funfact! if the funeral wasn’t filled with people who wanted him dead William would’ve came!)#(instead he visits her grave and apologizes for who he turned out to be)

I swear I'm working on the long post that actually goes into depth with the timeline of HS, but imma just do this for now. This one will only focus on what happens to the daycare attendants, but believe me a whole lot of other shit does down as well. I tried my best making this short as possible, so sorry if some of it doesnt make sense

CW: Death and Suicide, if you are sensitive to these things, then please dont read this

The Haunted Stars AU focuses around the two main characters, Sun and Moon, along with their newfound brother, Eclipse. All of them were created to test evolving AI, and gave them personalities. Eclipse was made before Sun and Moon as a test run. Eventually, Eclipse began to spazz out and the staff wouldnt do anything about it, resulting in some of them ending up dead by the hands of Eclipse.

At that point, the staff decided that instead of decommissioning him, they would shove him into the back of an arcade machine. His soul pretty much became a part of the machine. By the time that Sun and Moon were made, Eclipse made his actual first appearance to them as a hand that reached out of the machine they were playing with. Sun pulled him out of the machine, and their friendship went on from there. (Mind you the others havent been built yet)

Moon wasn't very fond of Eclipse, to him there was something off about him. So he tried to avoid him as much as he could. When everyone else was built, and the place opened. Things just began to go haywire

Eclipse put a virus in Moon that made him pretty much go insane. The virus would later be removed after Sun and Moon are separated.

During that time, Sun ended up developing a relationship with Freddy, and would meet up after hours because staff wouldnt allow the animatronics leaving their stations during the day. They had very little time before the lights went out, so they did as much as they could together.

Eventually, they asked the staff if they could build a kid for themselves. They sent them blueprints of different options, and Sun and Freddy could choose which one they wanted. After that, Marigold and Primrose were made, and they lived with Sun, Moon, and Eclipse in the daycare. Sun figured that they should have three brothers as well, and in response to that, Eclipse created Maroon with his own magic. There was a limit to it though. Maroon ended up having to learn ASL and communicate that way due to his voice box constantly glitching and eventually stopped working

All three of them got along very well. They all shared roles and learned from each of their dads, and were very happy with their lives. However, one day, Moon and Eclipse got into a heated argument. After this argument, Eclipse decided to put the same virus that he put in Moon in Primrose. Causing him to start having the same outbursts and random needs for murder. This really fucked up Marigold and Primroses relationship, and Primrose ended up hating Moon, Marigold, and Maroon.

Moon and Primrose would get into disagreements quite often since Moon eventually was able to control his virus to some extent. Primrose would always just dismiss him and would leave with Eclipse. This really pissed Moon off, and only made him hate Eclipse more.

After a battle with Afton, resulting in both Afton and Freddy dying, Sun and Moon decided to separate from each other. Moon was able to make himself a new body, and transferred his AI into it. Eclipse later learned about this, and it gave him an idea. His old physical body was still inside of the arcade machine, so he was pretty much just a ghost, and if he ever got broken, there were no spare parts for him to get fixed with. He decided that he could possibly figure out a way to put his AI into Suns body.

He did eventually figure out how to do it, and when he successfully got into Suns head. He began to slowly force control over Sun. Resulting in Eclipse locking Sun in his own mind, and Eclipse made sure that his body still looked exactly like Sun. With this, he decided to begin terrorizing the others some more. Specifically Moon, Marigold, and Maroon. (I forgot to mention that Marigold and Primrose also separated as well)

Eclipse killed both Moon and Maroon after getting bored of terrorizing them. Marigold always stayed hidden from him. No one knew that this wasnt Sun, no one was even aware that Eclipse was in his head. Eclipse eventually let Sun back in control after a few months of keeping him locked away. After realizing that his brother is dead and everyone is scared of him now. He decided that he needed to figure out a way to get rid of Eclipse.

Unfortunately for Sun, the only thing that he was able to think of doing, was killing himself to kill Eclipse. Now that Eclipse was a part of him, it was the only way that seemed logical to him. Sun would rather die than anyone else get killed by Eclipses hands. He grabbed the wires in the back of his head, and tore them up. This caused him to short circuit and fall to the ground.

After everything, the daycare was rebranded to have Marigold and Primrose on it instead of Sun and Moon, now that they were both gone. Things were calmer for all of them after that, they may never fully heal from the mental scars they endured, but at least it was over

More fish and some miscellaneous doodles.

Okay siren au first: Mike is a scooba Diver, probably originally went in to be like a marine biologist but developed a second reason to later in life, buuuut that’s gonna stay secret for now. He meets Marion by chance after his oxygen tube thing snaps underwater and Marion helps him back to the surface. They end up meeting semi frequently since. They sort of work together where like mike asks Marion siren stuff and I’m return Marion can ask mike to bring him stuff from the surface, ranging from items to information.

Also the fisherman. That’s the siren au’s Old Man Consequences. He’s like posidon but mixed with ancient crocodiles and Nessie.

Now for the base au doodles: some gold old goldie and ghost discorse, and Marion being very upset with alec’s parents.

Finley’s Fnaf Lore (1960(?)-1985)

TW - Child death, murder, su!c!d3, just a lot of really creepy and horrifying stuff. Don’t read if you’re easily disturbed, please.

So it starts off with William Afton meeting Henry Emily in high school. They both discover they have a love for robots and building. They start to work together and create their first creation, Prototype Fredbear. They end up losing connection for awhile, each having their own family. William marries a very nice and beautiful woman who is a ballerina. She is named Elizabeth, which they do name one of their twins. Henry marries a softhearted yet determined woman named Clara, who starred in a soap opera! (heheh).

William and Elizabeth have Michael, and Henry and Clara have Sammy. William and Henry reconnect and Mike and Sam grow up together as best friends. Meanwhile, Fredbear’s opens, and it’s the biggest thing in all of Hurricane Utah. Fredbear and SpringBonnie are loved so much, and the Puppet is added after Sammy designed him.

William eventually comes out that him and Eliza are having twins, and Henry and Clara are so happy for them. The twins were named Elizabeth and Cassidy. They grew up loving plushies. Years later... Cassidy and Lizzy have grown and Michael is 14, Henry and Clara have their baby girl, Charlie Emily... William is happy, but jealous. He wanted his children to stay small and pure forever...

He starts to work on a solo project, Circus Baby’s Pizza World! He designs Baby after Elizabeth, Funtime Freddy after Michael, Lolbit after Cassidy, Funtime Foxy after himself, Ballora after his wife, and Funtime Chica after Clara, who he had... a strange obsession with, to say the least...

It opens in 1982, and Elizabeth is ecstatic. She loves Baby, but her father refuses to let her go see them. But he had a reason... This solo project was to see if he could keep children young and precious, by killing them and keeping them in these robots... He didn’t want his little girl to get hurt.

He leaves to talk to a parent, who’s twins have gone missing, Rose and David, and leaves Mike and Cass to stay with Lizzy. Michael and Cass were very close at the time, so they got distracted with their dumb stories. Lizzy runs off to see Baby, but while reaching for the ice cream that was served by CB, another scooper like design shoots out and grabs her. She screams and Mike rushes to try and get her. However, he misses, and Lizzy is forever trapped inside Circus Baby. William is heartbroken.

His baby, his sweet little girl... gone forever.. He decides to close down the place. This is due to three children, four including Lizzy, going missing inside the restaurant...

They are stuck there for years.

Michael and Cassidy’s relationship starts to break as William becomes harsher and their mother more distanced. The Emilys are doing great, though. Of course they are, they ALWAYS are.

Will and Henry decide to add Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Balloon Boy, JJ, and DeeDee. They are finished by the end of 1982, beginning the new year.

Oh! I know who I forgot to mention, Fritz. He was a taller ginger haired boy with green eyes. He was close to Cassidy and Lizzy, their best friend. After Liz’s death, he is forced to stay away from Cassidy for awhile. Michael goes through his own thing and forms a groups. Jeremy, Sammy, and Bella. They each wear masks, to take their anger and fear out on poor little Cassidy, who is tormented by animatronics after watching his own twin sister die inside one. This causes his to have nightmares every night, and traumatized him further.. Him and Fritz reconnect in the summer, and the ginger is the only one to arrive at the birthday party.

Cassidy had also been having visions of gore and terror after the nightmares. He wasn’t sure what they were at the time, so he ignored them. The day of his party was going to be great. Just him, Fritz, his momma and papa, and his Fredbear plushie. He had no idea Mike and his friends would be there. He tried to stay away from them.. He had no idea this would be his last birthday. Cassidy and Fritz were playing Fruity Maze, but only Cassidy heard his mother call for them. He ran off to get the pizza, while Fritz stayed in obliviousness. Cassidy found Mike and the others there. Unfortunately for him, his mother had already went to find Fritz. Michael and his friends pulled poor Cassy away, just leaving Fredbear Plush on the ground. Eliza and Fritz were startled by the screaming and crying. Fritz, being athletic and fast, ran across the entire diner to find Cassidy. He only saw what was left of the incident.

Absolutely horrified, Fritz grabbed the Fredbear plushies and ran home. He was never the same.

... William had it. He was done. He had to save his little boy. He tried and tried, but nothing really worked... He got frustrated and left his body at Fredbear’s, right next to the Fredbear animatronic. The remnant of Cass’s soul ended up creating another, fake version of Fredbear, which Cass deemed to be named Goldie, as a body. He woke up scared and alone, and wanted to just go home. He only had Fredbear and Spring, who could feel human emotion. The others couldnt, but at least he had two friends.

1984, a year after Cassidy’s death rolled around. That meant it marked the death day of both Cassidy and Eliza, who k!ll3d herself out of grief from her children dying. Of course, William blamed this on himself and Mike, taking his anger out by either yelling at Michael or just leaving for hours. Mike started to design animatronics himself to seek approval from his father, which eventually worked. However, it was Charlie’s birthday. Henry and Clara were extremely happy to see their little girl growing up, and Sammy was too (though he was never the same after what happened to his best friend’s little brother)

It was the night William made the biggest decision in his life.

Springbonnie was his prized creation, and she looked up to him like a god. He used her as a pawn to lure Charlie outside and lock her in the rain while he got to the car and drove to the front. Charlie tried to get in, and Puppet (her favorite) searched for the little 3 year old desperately... Charlie was losing hope until she saw Uncle Will’s car. She beamed with excitement, going to him. He told her they could get in the back... that was a lie.

Charlie was found dead an hour later with Puppet next to her.

1985, the year of misery and mystery. Four children, each of them never found. William had friends who had a little girl, named Susie. The Aftons also had a dog named Marigold who had recently had puppies. The entire litter except for one died, and that one was given to Susie. She was so happy, she named him Cookie. He was a golden puppy with one black ear.

There was another family, and they had no connection to Will. They had a little boy named Jeremy. he was the shyest kid in the class, but the smartest. No one knows how he befriended the most popular girl.

The final children... Gabriel. A sweet kid who was the leader of the group. It was Susie, Jeremy, and him against the world.. and occasionally his cousin... Fritz.

A few months after Susie had gotten Cookie, they took him to see Marigold. Cookie, scared of Will, ran away. Susie and her family/friends couldn’t find him and eventually gave up.

Driving home one night, William accidentally hit something. Getting out of the car, he realized it was the poor puppy. He didn’t really care, he just laughed and drove off. Problem was, Gabriel’s birthday was that morning. And the pup’s body was found outside the diner, mangled, by Susie. She, however, stayed strong and went to Gabe’s birthday anyways. The biggest mistake of her life. And the last, too.

Fritz had always hated animatronics since his best friend died. He hated the diner... but he liked Foxy a little. He was only there for Gabe and his friends.

The fear that filled him when Susie suddenly went missing. She was last seen crying by Fruity Maze.

Meanwhile, two familiar children were panicking. A golden bear, and a long strange marionette. Only one was visible to the children, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get them to not follow the golden bunny. She didn’t know Cassidy was an afton, he was just Goldie to her. To Charlie, that is. They watched as another child was lead away.

Poor little Jeremy, he only wanted the Bonnie plush from the claw machine. He ran out of money, but a nice green eyed rabbit offered her money to him. He just had to follow her.

Gabriel and Fritz decided to go and look for them. Cassidy froze in fear. Anyone but him, anyone but his best friend.

The two dead children could only watch as the two were stolen away. Gabriel was convinced because this rabbit said she knew where their friends were. Fritz didn’t go, until the rabbit whispered that she could show him Cassidy once more. That convinced him. When they got to the backroom, all they saw were Susie and Jeremy. Dead, bloody, no more.

Gabriel tried to scream, but was snatched up by Will in the Spring suit. Fritz went to run away to tell someone, but William threatened to kill Gabriel if he told. He said he would leave them if Fritz gave up. The 12 year old, however, refused. He grabbed a wrench, charging at the rabbit. William immediately killed Gabriel, dropping him and grabbed Fritz, cutting off the hand that the wrench was in, which also costed the child his eye.

Everything was a blur for them for what seemed like hours.

Fritz woke up to a red eyed crocodile, and golden bear, and Puppet staring at him. He noticed his friends were there too, each with a mask of an animatronic on their face. He looked back and was handed a Foxy mask.

“Is this for me?”

“Yes, put it on, and you will be given your second chance.”

He woke up once more in a strange body. He felt cold and afraid, but he saw the golden bear in front of him again.

“Hello, Fritz, I am Goldie. I’m happy to meet you.”

“Where am I?!”

“Your new body.”

It was at that moment, Fritz realized he was no longer human. He started at his new metallic hands, but he was not scared. He was worried about the others, the younger children he had seen.

The fox took his first run in the new body. He found them by Puppet, and was followed by Goldie. The three of them were broken down, letting out terrified wails.

Oh... this was all his fault. From that day on, he dedicated himself to keep the others safe with Puppet and Cassidy.

The Volturi rated by Dress Sense

-10/10: Aro, the walking fashion disaster, one-man-circus, you-can-take-the-man-out-of-mycenae-but-can’t-take-the-mycenae-out-of-the-man. In Aro’s head, wearing all the most fashionable things at once like some kind of fashion panchreston makes one a God of Couture. It’s painfully obvious that he’s very proud of his dress sense.

0/10: Afton. Rated so low not for any particular crime of dress sense, he just prefers not to be sensed at all. Actually has a good eye for clothing, he just uses it to pick out the most mind-numbingly mundane fashion. Perennial wallflower. If you said “hey, Afton, nice shirt,” he’d probably burn the shirt in mortification.

1/10: Corin. She’s the dictionary definition of “Disaster Lesbian”.

2/10: Athenodora believes in functionality over aesthetics and she’s prepared to fight you. Yes, this means she wears fanny packs and socks-and-crocs. She’s carefully chosen each piece of apparel for its comfort, versatility, and multi-purpose-ness. Vampire Swiss Army Knife. Also voted Most Likely To Have Pocket Sand.

3/10: Jane has a vague………concept……..of dress sense. She was tentatively introduced to the idea of Individuality in the 1830s, and has been making baby steps ever since, although she still doesn’t buy clothes without the approval of at least three other people. She needs more time to think about this notion of……..Style.

4/10: Heartfelt and handmade doesn’t mean Fashionable, and no-one embodies this more than Renata. 3D felted marigolds stitched onto her circle skirts, up-cycled denim, and all the crochet shawls in the world can’t give this one Dress Sense. Participation points have been awarded to her Singer for its decades of service to “fashion”.

5/10: Caius has the most Normal attitude to fashion than anyone on the list. He doesn’t think he’s ever used clothes to Express Himself. The purpose of clothing, in his neutral, skin-deep utilitarianism, starts and ends at Stops People From Being Naked. He once felt a little bit chuffed when he attended a Masquerade wearing a Wolf mask.

6/10: Felix. Adding points for wearing Tailored Suits, subtracting points for his fondness of pun-based fashion. Goes to the gym in enough neon to out-shine the Las Vegas Strip.

7/10: This list is finally approaching some kind of competent dress sense with Alec. He thinks he’s actually rather fond of fashion. Carries a hand-mirror and always packs travel-sized hair products, perfumes, and a small tube of mascara when he’s on his way to neutralize the Volturi’s enemies. He showers at least twice a week and worries about smelling Nice, unlike his sewer-rat sister.

8/10: Did you think Marcus would appear lower on this list? He looks like he picks his clothes from the Hospital wing of a Retirement Village, but, like, he’s a moderately fashion-sensitive geriatric, if you ignore the tiny blood stains on his collar. He’s the first person on this list to know how to tie a bowtie, the first person who can actually pull off a Hot Genderfluid Look, and the first person who’s gotten away with wearing sunglasses to hide the fact he’s taking a nap.

9/10: Santiago, like, deserves all the points for looking leonine and graceful when grappling two separate people, and pressing his heel on the neck of a third. The Volturi Cloak isn’t very practical for martial arts and the colour is a Fashion migraine, but Santiago is Resourceful and Determined. He’s an eccentric Latin-American on Instagram with half a million followers.

10/10: Chelsea, Heidi, and Sulpicia. The flawless trio. Perfectly dressed on any occasion, be it a ball or beheading. They make fashion look effortless.

11/10: Demetri. On a list about dress sense, he won’t be topped.
