based on this concept of steve and mike coming out to each other
🤍 also on ao3
The sun is setting in beautiful hues of pink and purple, tinging the town of Hawkins, Indiana, in a light of serenity and beauty it doesn’t really deserve. Steve’s hands are gripped tight around the steering wheel as he carefully scans the road and the houses he passes.
He almost misses the bike where it’s lying on the curb, carelessly discarded by the looks of it, and a tinge of worry shadows his frown. Worry that doesn’t quite dissipate when he spots the figure sitting on the roof, almost black against the lilac colour of the sky, but he breathes a sigh of relief. He considers grabbing the radio to let the others know he found Mike, but decides against it. Something tells him that maybe they’ll take a while. Something tells him there’s more to Will’s stunned silence and Mike’s sudden departure from where they were all hanging out at Steve’s after another successful Hellfire session.
With a sigh, Steve cuts the engine and gets out of the car, keeping his eyes on Mike the whole time — ready for him to take off again, ready to go sit a while and wait for him to come back. But Mike doesn’t move, even after he shuts the door and approaches the Wheelers’ house. He doesn’t acknowledge Steve when he pulls himself up to the roof, easier this time than the first time he did this.
There’s a snide comment in the air between them, a version of Mike that would have lashed out at him, made fun of and insulted him. But this one just sits there, hands in his lap, frown on his face, and stares ahead.
“What do you want,” he asks eventually, though it doesn’t have the kind of heat that Steve expects. He barely even sounds like a teenager. Just sort of… dejected. Steve aches for him; just a little bit.
“Just making sure you’re alright,” Steve says, shrugging, looking ahead as well so Mike doesn’t feel watched. Or seen, maybe.
Because the thing is, Steve does see him. He sees the way he looks at Will sometimes, and the way his eyes fill with something that can only be described as yearning, or aching, followed by regret and fear. Which always, always turn into anger. Into frustration. Into snide comments and rolled eyes and walls that keep getting an inch added to them each day. It’s never directed at Will, that anger, and rarely at the rest of the Party, but Steve still sees it. Gets the worst of it and takes it, because he knows something about how that feels.
He knows something about looking at someone like that, about feeling that fear, that regret, that worry that come with it. He knows something about never really daring to meet someone’s eyes for fear of what they would see.
“I’m alright,” Mike says, sounding anything but. There’s a bitterness in his voice. Frustration in the way his thumb is picking at the skin of his fingers. Confusion in the tension of his shoulders, and Steve feels like he only needs to make one wrong move, say one wrong word, make a single sound that’s off key to the melody of this moment, and Mike will jump off the roof and take off again with his bike.
So all he says, after a moment’s consideration, is, “Cool.” Like he believes him. Giving Mike room to breathe, room to pretend. He knows something about that, too.
He knows and he sees and he feels.
And suddenly he wants to say something he’s never said before, something he didn’t even get to tell Robin because she knew and saw and felt, too, taking something from him that he hasn’t yet been ready to reclaim for himself.
And maybe it’s because he sees something of himself in the way Mike holds himself, in the way he snaps at anyone willing to listen, in the way he frowns in regret and barely meets anyone’s eyes except when it’s in challenge — and, most of all, in the way he never, never meets Will’s eyes. In the way he looks away when the other boy turns to him, and in the way his eyes will snap back and take in everything about his best friend when he’s not aware of it.
Maybe it’s because the sky is pink and lilac and purple above them, allowing for a certain magic to happen, allowing for a bravery that doesn’t come easy to him; but as he sits on the roof next to Mike Wheeler, the only one of the Party he never really connected with, he closes his eyes against the breeze that catches in his hair and opens his jacket a little further, slithering beneath the fabric as if in a brief embrace, a nudge, a sign to take this leap, and takes a deep breath.
His heart is picking up its pace inside his chest, taking this leap along wit him, and pulls up one of his legs to wrap his hands around it — just to have something to hold onto.
He opens his mouth once, twice, three times, but the words never really come out. They don’t know how, and he’s beginning to tremble a little with it, tension building in his chest where the words are still locked away, hidden among layers of truth.
Mike looks over with a frown and eyes him warily. It makes Steve want to laugh, this sudden change of pace, but he just keeps staring ahead; even when Mike asks, “Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” Steve says. And then then dam is broken and breaking further, and with another deep breath, still not meeting Mike’s eyes, instead focusing on the tree tops in the distance that shine in hues of purple, he finally says, “I’m kind of dating Eddie Munson.”
And just like that, it’s out. He’s out.
He doesn’t know if the world still spins, if time still passes, if he still breathes, because for a moment there is only silence. Mike stops picking at the skin of his fingers, Steve stops trembling, and neither of them moves.
It’s both anticlimactic and momentous, this silence between them when their eyes meet. When the words unfold and grow wings, when Mike understands, his eyes growing big with something that Steve can’t quite read with how tense he is despite his best efforts.
The silence stretches between them, surpassing comfort and overstaying its welcome, and suddenly it’s Steve who feels like he’s about to take off if Mike so much as twitches his brows.
“You… What?”
Forget it, Steve wants to say. Nothing.
But also, I’m in love with Eddie Munson. And I used to be in love with Nancy. And that’s okay. Both of that, it’s okay.
He ends up repeating his words, though, because they know what it’s like to be spoken now. “Eddie. I’m kind of dating Eddie.”
“But…” It’s Mike now whose mouth is opening and closing without saying anything. Mike who’s blinking, trembling a little, twitching, picking at his skin again, moving further along his hand this time to pinch the skin between his thumb and pointer finger. Steve almost reaches out to stop him, but he doesn’t really dare to.
“But?” he prompts after a while, not quite comfortable with this loaded kind of silence.
“Eddie’s a boy.”
But Tammy Thompson is a girl.
“I know,” Steve says, his tone carefully neutral, wanting to see, to wait where Mike takes this, to hear what’s on his mind, to watch the wheels turn and the gears shift. He feels awfully raw and open, vulnerable with someone who hasn’t been treating that with care yet. But there’s something about this moment that feels bigger than his own fears, bigger than the light nausea settling in his gut; far more important than the way he wants to run and hide, away from the scrutiny.
“And…” Mike continues, still battling the words inside his head. Steve wonders if there are too many or none at all. “But you… You loved Nancy.”
Ah. Smart boy. “I did,” Steve says with a small smile. “And it was never a lie. But I found that… Yeah, I can kinda like boys, too, y’know? And that’s, like, okay.”
A beat. A frown. A confused, hopeful, small, “It is?”
Steve just nods, smiling in reassurance and relief at equal measures. Silence settles once more, now that the sky has darkened into a deeper, darker blue; but it’s not as loaded this time, not as tense. It’s an invitation. An offering. A promise of I’m here, I’m with you, you can take as long as you need. To get down from the roof, to come back, to come out of wherever you think you need to hide from the world.
Mike takes it. He stays, pulling up his leg, too, mirroring Steve’s pose and staring ahead, but not as far away. He seems alert, seems to be thinking rather than dwelling, seems to be gearing up for something. Steve watches and sees and knows, remaining patient beside him, his chin resting on his knee as Mike learns to deal with this new world that has been presented to him. This new world that comes with opportunities and chances and possibilities that are scary and big and difficult to make.
“Y’know,” Mike starts at last, interrupting the silence, playing with it, his voice hushed and quiet to keep it from disappearing completely. “Lucas, when he had that championship game? He told us, Dustin and me, that we didn’t have to be the losers this time. The nerds. The outcasts. Different. And all I wanted was to scream at him, because…”
Mike swallows his words, keeping them from tumbling out of his mouth, and Steve aches for him again. He wants to reach out, wants to say it’s okay, tell him it’s alright, to take his time. But he waits in silence, lets Mike find the bravery he needs on his own, and waits.
“Because how could he say that, you know? How could he, when… Will wasn’t there. And all I did, all I ever did anymore, was miss him. And I loved El, I knew I did. And she was gone, too, but…”
He trails off again, and this time Steve picks it up. To let him know he’s not alone. To let Mike know he understands what he’s saying. He understands. “But she’s not Will. You needed Will.”
“But I shouldn’t!” Mike explodes suddenly, riled up because Steve adds fuel to the fire, because Steve has that same fire, too; and because they are so, so similar when they want to be. “And now he’s back and it should be fine, I shouldn’t be feeling like this, it doesn’t even make sense! How can I…”
Steve looks at him, at his expression that is nothing but lost — completely and utterly. He’s seen it on the bathroom floor at the mall; high out of his mind as he was, he’ll never forget the way Robin looked at him, the sheer crestfallen expression. All that confusion, all that fear and frustration and, in the end, resignation. He’s seen it in the mirror, and he’s seen it in those pretty brown eyes that he just can’t get out of his head anymore.
He offers, gently, “How can you need him when he’s right there? How can you love him when a year ago you loved El?”
And Mike just looks at him before he deflates completely, his shoulders falling along with his face. He nods. Shrugs. Looks away and hides his face behind his leg.
Steve sighs softly, watching the boy and speaking the words he wants to say the sixteen year-old version of himself. “I don’t know,” he says truthfully. “I really don’t, and it sucks sometimes, having this need to, like, decide. Or understand. Or stop and be like the rest of them.” Like Robin and Eddie, or like the rest of the world. “But I like to think, sometimes, that maybe it’s a good thing. That there’s just… I don’t know, it sounds corny as hell, but like, there’s just so much love to give, we can’t even stick to only boys or girls, y’know.”
“That does sound real corny as fuck, man,” Mike says, and back is that long suffering tone of his, back is that eye roll and the twitching elbow, ready to nudge Steve in the side. It’s still tinged with that vulnerability, not quite Mike yet, but it’s an offering.
One of many tonight, it seems.
Steve grins, a bit lopsided and raw, shoving Mike gently as he remembers something he overheard once. “Sorry, mister Heart of our group, but I don’t think you have any leg to stand on here.”
That makes Mike freeze, though, and he stares at Steve wide-eyed; caught. Exposed. Reminded.
“What did you say?”
“Uh,” Steve falters, not sure where he went wrong — or if he went wrong at all. “I overheard Will calling you that, talking about you to, uhm. Someone. I don’t know. Why, what’s— What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Mike says, way too quickly, pulling away again with everything he has, hiding behind those walls once more, and Steve feels whiplash from it.
“Mike,” he says, his voice quiet and gentle as he turns to face him completely.
“No.”
“It’s okay,” Steve says. Promises, as much as he can.
“Shut up!”
“You’re not wrong or bad or broken. It’s okay, you’re okay.”
“I said, shut up, Steve.”
“You should see the way he looks at you, too. You should go talk to him. You—“
Mike lashes out, finally coming out from behind those walls again, only to shove at Steve, to push him away — hard enough for him to lose his balance and almost fall off the roof, clenching one hand on the edge, the other in the rainwater gutter with a bitten-off curse.
“Shit, I’m sorry!” Mike reaches for him immediately, snapping out of whatever anger Steve caused, and pulling him back until he’s safe again, apologising over and over, dead to Steve’s promises that it’s alright. “Fuck, I’m so sorry, Steve, I’m so—“
He pulls Mike against his chest, finally reaching out to hold the boy who always pushes people away when they get too close — quite literally, too.
But he doesn’t shove this time, doesn’t move out of Steve’s grasp as the mumbled apologies become heaving sobs.
“It’s okay, you’re okay, you’re so okay, Mike,” Steve tells him over and over as he holds him. The sky above is almost black now and Steve lets Mike cry into his chest.
It takes a while for Mike to calm down, but Steve just holds him through it, ready to let go whenever Mike wants to pull back and snap out of it again — but he never does, and Steve feels a certain kind of affection for the boy that is usually reserved for Lucas or Dustin.
At last, when he’s calmed down, Mike pulls back a little. “Do you really… Does it… Is it really okay?”
Can it be okay? Can I really like both? Is that not just me, being broken and wrong and bad? Will I get the chance to not be alone?
Steve swallows hard, and his voice is hoarse when he says, “Yeah. It’s really okay. ‘N’ I’m with you, yeah? If someone gives you shit for it. Or if you need a reminder.”
And Mike — puffy eyed, snotty nosed, so, so young — looks at him with those trusting eyes and nods, like he believes Steve. Like he trusts him. Like he hopes.
“Just don’t fucking shove me off your roof again.”
Ans just like that, the spell is broken, the tension is lifted, and silence has left them, as Mike almost chokes on a laugh and shoves at him again, lightly this time, before jumping off the roof so Steve can’t retaliate.
“Asshole,” he mutters, shaking his head as he, too, jumps off the roof, dusting off his pants as he watches Mike grabbing his bike. “Hey, Micycle,” he calls, cackling when Mike flips him the bird. “You want a ride back?”
Mike stops, considering as Steve casually flicks his keys into the air and catches them expertly. “What kinda music do you got?”
“The Clash, ‘cause Eddie hates them.”
“Yeah, that’s because they suck!”
Steve snorts, opening the driver’s side door. “Y’know, they’re one of Will’s favourites, actually.”
He watches Mike freeze with a grin on his face, knowing there’s no way the boy would take the bike.
“You’re so annoying,” Mike sighs as he brings his bike close to the garage and carefully lays it on the grass this time before hurrying over to Steve, getting in on the front, rolling his eyes when Steve cackles. “I don’t know why Eddie would date you—“
His words are drowned out when Steve turns up Train in Vain, drumming along on the steering wheel with a shit eating grin. Though the atmosphere is wildly different now, the spell broken and the bubble burst, it’s undeniable that something happened between them. Something big, something important.
Something that makes Mike’s annoyed, long-suffering expression be broken by the smile he’s trying to hide. It makes Steve laugh, elated and feeling something that’s much, much bigger than he himself ever could be.
It’s going to be okay. So, so okay.
Before they know it, they’re pulling up to Steve’s and he turns off the car, is about to get out when Mike makes him still again.
“Hey, Steve?”
“Hm?”
“I think it’s cool. You and Eddie.”
He smiles, relief and fondness washing over him. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Thanks.” He reaches over and ruffles Mike’s hair — a wild mane these days, but they could make it work with some care and some products. “Now go get your man, lover boy.”
“God, you suck so much, you’re so annoying!”
Steve’s cackling again when the passenger door slams shut and Mike lets himself into his house.
He spots a figure in the dark, their face lighting up when they take a drag of a cigarette — and Steve’s heart stumbles in his chest. He scrambles to get out, attempting to look calm and collected, even though Eddie always manages to see right through him.
“Hello, stranger,” he says, leaning against the wall beside Eddie, hiding away in the dark, where the world won’t see their shoulders touch, or their fingers tentatively playing with each other before they can’t take it no longer and lace their hands, holding on tight.
“Hi,” Eddie breathes. “How’d it go?”
“Fine, I think. But, uhm… I told him. About me. About us. That, uh. That okay?”
Even in the dark, Steve can feel eyes on him, but he just stares ahead, opting instead to give his warm hand a squeeze. He smiles when Eddie’s thumb begins to draw patterns on his palm.
“Hmm. Very. You think they’ll be okay?”
“Yeah,” Steve breathes, stealing Eddie’s cigarette from his mouth and pulling it between his own lips. “Yeah, I think they will be.”

i think he knows | eddie munson x fem!reader
Y/N likes Eddie. Eddie likes Y/N. Dustin doesn’t like what is happening.
notes: based on a request. henderson!reader. eddie being a cutie. dustin being annoying. part 2: paper rings
i want you, bless my soul, and i ain't gotta tell him, i think he knows
It was 7:00 pm. Y/N leaned on her car door as she waited for Dustin and Mike to come out of their Hellfire session. She thought that they’re running late again.
To be honest, the main reason why Y/N continues to volunteer to pick Dustin and his friends up at this time of night was because of Eddie Munson.
Eddie freaking Munson. Where does she begin? Despite all of the mean and spiteful things being said to him, all Y/N can see was the nice things about him. His beautiful brown eyes, unruly long hair that seems to be all over the place, his contagious laugh, and his disregard for society’s norms, which made him one hundred times more attractive to Y/N.
Suddenly, she heard loud laughing near the doors. She looked up and saw Dustin, Mike, Eddie, along with their fellow clubmates getting out of the campus premises, nudging one another whilst walking.
“Hey, Y/N! You’ve been here a while?” Dustin shouted, running up to his sister.
“No, I’ve been here for five minutes only, Dusty,” she replied, messing up his hair in the process.
“Dusty, huh?” somebody suddenly chided. Y/N was about to reply when she saw it was Eddie. Suddenly, she forgot how to speak and she started sweating profusely.
Little did she know, Eddie was feeling the same exact thing. He was sweating really hard and was trying to keep his cool in front of Y/N.
He liked her ever since they were in middle school, when Y/N chased around some of Eddie’s bullies with a baseball bat for saying stupid shit about Eddie. From then on he was hooked on her.
Eddie always struggled to be calm and keep his chill around Y/N. Always wanting to just hug her and repeatedly kiss her all over her beautiful face. But of course he needed to restraint himself. So he had to settle in longing glances and shy little smiled in passing.
Things got better in Eddie’s favor when Dustin joined Hellfire. Eddie finally had a wingman to help him with Y/N. But Dustin ultimately refused. Said that she’s way out of his league or some type of bullshit just to keep him away from Y/N.
“Can we go to dinner now?” Dustin suddenly asked, not paying attention to Eddie.
“Sure. Mike, you’re coming with us, right?” Y/N asked as Mike nodded. “How about you Eddie? Do you want to join us?”
Y/N did not know where this newfound confidence of asking him to dinner came from but she glad it suddenly came.
Eddie’s eyes widened as he also nodded his head repeatedly, making Y/N laugh as Dustin just sighed.
“I call shotgun!” Eddie suddenly shouted as he pushed Dustin to the side, leaving the boy confused and making Y/N laugh even more. Dustin flipped Eddie the bird as he got into the backseat along with Mike.
♡ ♡ ♡
“And he got nightmares for the entire week after watching The Shining!” Y/N exclaimed as Eddie and Mike laughed while Dustin just grumbled.
The four of them were done with dinner and the topic of conversation the four of them had was Dustin.
Dustin and Mike continued walking as Eddie stopped Y/N, “Hey, we should do this again sometime. You know, just the two of us,”
“Asking me on a date, Eddie?”
“Yeah! I mean I’ve liked you since middle school. I even asked Dustin to set me up with you! I mean he said no,” he said laughing.
“That piece of shit. He knows I like you too. Wonder why he didn’t say anything,” Y/N said, grabbing a pen from her pocket as she grabbed Eddie’s hand, writing her number, “But I agree, we should do this again some time. Call me so we can plan this, yeah?”
“Yeah,” Eddie said, feeling all flustered.
Dustin looked at the window and saw the two talking. He shouted for the two to get in the car since he need to use the bathroom. The two rushed back as Dustin shook his head with a little smile on his face.
With any luck, Eddie will become Dustin’s brother-in-law. He just needs to wait.

Little Runaway Part 6
Oh my god!! You guys are fantastic everyone!! I just wanted remind people that I have little practical experience with the show outside of meta and fanfics and gifs. As fully explained here. But I love everyone’s response to this story. It’s one of the earliest stories I wrote before I got further involved in fandom. So if you want to DM if you think something is off that’s fine, I’d love to chat! Also I have hit the tag limit, so if you want to see more, follow away!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Steve was in Eddie’s room reading the book he borrowed when there was a knock on the door of the trailer. He frowned. He wasn’t sure he was supposed to open the door when Eddie or Wayne weren’t home.
“Steve Harrington if you don’t open this door I swear to god I will let out the air on your tires!” Max yelled.
Steve went rushing to the door and threw it open. “Jesus Christ! Don’t yell my name.”
He dragged her inside and pushed her the direction of the couch.
“You want to tell me what the fuck is going on?” Max asked, sitting down. “You go missing for two weeks and come to find out you’ve been hiding out here. Everyone is worried about you!”
Steve sighed and put his hands on his hips. “Came out to my dad as liking boys, he beat the shit out of me and if he finds me, he’ll probably kill me. And I don’t mean in the nice parent way either.”
Max nodded. She knew better than almost anyone else what that was like. “So why here?”
“You think my dad would think to look here?” Steve scoffed.
She cocked her head. “Yeah, all right.”
“You really can’t tell anyone I’m here,” Steve pleaded. “Not even Will or Mike or any of them. It’s bad enough Dustin knows.”
She frowned. “Why not?”
“Because my dad isn’t above beating up children to get them to tell him what he wants to hear.”
Max took that in for a moment. “Okay. Fine.”
Steve’s eyebrows went up. “Fine?”
“Yeah,” she said. “Fine. I get it. You know I do. Wait, is that why Dustin stopped by in the middle of the night last week? Was that about you?” Steve nodded. She pursed her lips. “Okay, but you may want to move your car.”
“Shit,” he cursed. “Yeah. If you found it, my dad might, too.” He ran his fingers over his face. And then he got an idea.
“I know that face,” Max said. “That’s your ‘I have a dumb plan’ face.”
He looked over at her sidelong. “You could move it for me.”
She thought about it for a moment. “You’d trust me with your car?”
“You’re a better driver than most people with licenses,” Steve told her. “I learned that first hand.”
“Yeah, okay.”
Just then Eddie came home and stopped short, looking at the unruly teenager on his sofa.
“Red,” he greeted coldly.
“She’s cool,” Steve told him.
“You two know each other?” Eddie asked, raising an eyebrow.
“She saved my life once,” Steve said, crossing his arms.
“Hell yeah, I did,” Max replied with a grin.
“She is also the only one of the nuggets that knows to keep her mouth shut,” Steve said.
Her grin got bigger.
“Hey, Steve,” Eddie said, “your dad showed up to the session today.”
And suddenly all the light teasing joy between Max and Steve exited the trailer is a roaring gush.
“Holy fuck!” Steve said. “Is everyone okay? No one got hurt, did they?”
“Everyone’s fine,” Eddie said with a reassuring smile. “I sent him packing with his tail between his legs.”
Steve’s eyes went wide and a happy, almost delirious smile spread across his face. “You did?”
Eddie shrugged, shoving his thumbs into his back pockets. “I gave him a Munson tirade special. He left in a hurry after that.”
“Huh.” Steve bit back the next words that would have tumbled from his lips if Max hadn’t been there. I could kiss you! He blushed and scratched his cheek in embarrassment.
“I should get going,” Max said. “Take care of yourself, Steve. Or at least let someone else do it for if you can’t.” She patted him on the shoulder as she passed.
Steve stopped her at the door. “Hey, take care of it for me.” And tossed her his car keys. She caught them and then saluted. With a smile on her face she walked out the trailer, a skip in her step.
“She saved your life?” Eddie asked, deeply concerned.
“I got a really bad concussion, like out for a long time bad,” Steve said. “She was the one that was able to drive me to get help.” He gulped and looked down at his feet. “I think she learned because of her mom.”
Eddie closed his eyes and opened them slowly. “Yeah, yeah. I can see that.”
He took a deep breath and let it out. “Another unfortunate side effect of tonight: everyone at Hellfire knows your dad beat you and not just two weeks ago.”
Steve dropped his between shoulders and let out a shuddering breath. He hadn’t wanted anyone to know that. And now everyone did. “I don’t want their pity.” The words came out as a hiss.
Eddie came up to him and put his hands on Steve’s biceps, rubbing his arms up and down. “I’m afraid it was Dustin that let that out of the bag. He was just so terrified that he might have been the cause of your dad beating you that I said that it wasn’t his fault, that your dad was a grade bastard and had been for a while.”
Steve pinched his nose and nodded. “It not your fault or his. If it goes to trial what he did to me, everyone was going to find out anyway.”
Eddie nodded.
“I think I would die if anyone started being nice to me because they knew what he did to me,” Steve whispered. “I don’t want to be treated differently because I abused.”
“What’s wrong with a little sympathy?” Eddie asked.
“I acted the way I did, not because my dad is an asshole, but because I was.”
Eddie sighed. “Look, I’m going to say this only once and if you tell anyone else, I will tell everyone that you drool when you sleep, do you hear me?”
Steve nodded again.
“Right, you were never a bully, Steve,” Eddie continued.
“But I–” Steve said.
“No, Steve,” Eddie said. “You were a kid trying to fit in with the wrong crowd. You never pushed anyone down, you never called people names in the hallway. Did you stand aside and let Tommy do that shit? Sure. But, dude. That was never you.”
“How-how do you know?”
“Because fundamentals don’t change, Steve,” Eddie said earnestly. “If a good person does bad things it eats them up inside. They will try to fix it if they can, but often times they feel like nothing they could do would be enough. But bad people? They don’t give a shit who they hurt. Because seeing someone else get hurt, that makes them feel good.” He leaned down so he could see Steve’s face. “Which one are you?”
Steve looked up into those beautiful brown eyes and took a deep breath that rattled in his chest. “I’m a good person?”
“Hell yeah, you are,” Eddie said, straightening up. He pulled him in for a hug and held him close. And if he felt his shirt getting wet, he certainly wasn’t going to tell.
*
On Monday he ran into Robin Buckley who looked like she was going to murder someone, most likely him.
“Oi!” she said calling him over. “I’ve got a bone to pick with you!”
Eddie’s eyes widened and he tried to back away but she was faster.
“Hey!” she said grabbing him. “What the hell? I was told you know where Steve is and you will tell me what I need to know.”
“Jesus H Christ!” he hissed and tugged her toward the van and threw her in the back. He got in behind her and slammed the door. “Are you trying to get Steve killed?”
“What?” she asked, blinking at him rapidly.
“Steve’s dad is trying to find him and here you are yelling out on the street that I know where he is?” Eddie snarled. “Fucking hell.”
She got quiet. “I thought that was just a rumor. There’s also a rumor that you kidnapped him and are holding him for ransom.”
Eddie threw his arms in the air. “Why the fuck is it always me?”
“Sorry,” she whispered.
“All right who told?” Eddie snarled. “Because if there is going to be a murder in this town it’s going to be me against whoever told that I knew where Steve is.”
“I don’t know, but pretty much the whole town knows now,” Robin murmured.
“Shit I don’t know where to go,” Eddie said, feeling his panic rising. “I need you to get to Dustin. Let him know that Steve’s dad knows about me and to warn Steve.” He pressed his hand to mouth, trying to fight down the bile that coated his throat.
His eyes caught a bag of weed and he got an idea. He licked his lips. “If you see my uncle Wayne, tell him I’m sorry.” He opened the door and pushed her out.
Before she could protest he slammed the door and hopped into the driver’s seat.
Fuck.

Interesting how most of Milkvan’s crucial moments are always in public/in a group and depicted as comical, vs Byler’s crucial moments being intimate and private.
Milkvan first kiss in s1: in the large school cafeteria, defeating the feeling of privacy, plus just after El genuinely and cluelessly asked Mike if they were gonna be like siblings
Milkvan kiss in s2: in a crowded room at the Snowball
Milkvan breakup in s3: in bright daylight & public, in front of the mall and the entire party, framed as a girlboss moment with El and Max giving each other a high five and Mike looking rather disgusted
Milkvan “makeup” in s3: in the hospital waiting room, Lucas distracting Max so they can talk and Mike sending Will away from the seats. Basically the whole party is in the same room and almost everyone is aware that they’re making up.
Milkvan “blank makes you crazy” in s3: again, in a public space (the store). They may be alone in the aisle, but like the s1 kiss it also defeats the feeling of privacy. And again, like the s1 kiss, it’s placed in a comical light due to El’s cluelessness of what Mike is trying to say.
“I love her and can’t lose her again” in s3: Homeboy basically publicly announced it to everyone except El herself.
“I love you too” in s3: This is one of the few “intimate” Milkvan moments in this season and Mike looks uncomfortable throughout all of it. He stalls & pretends to have forgotten what he said previously, not to mention his eyes are open when she kisses him and he looks infinitely confused afterwards.
Skipping over all of s4’s moments of the first few episodes because they were just fighting or putting up an act-
Milkvan reunion in ep8: The framing of the scene made us focus on Will’s silhouette standing between them more than anything. Also Willel’s reunion was 10x more emotional from both sides.
Mike’s monologue in ep9: Nine “I love you”s in front of three other people in a speech that was cliché and barely made sense, not to mention he wouldn’t have made it if Will hadn’t pushed him to.
(I guess the scene in the Surfer Boy’s Pizza was kinda sweet, but we will never know what either of them were actually gonna say because they got interrupted by Argyle. We can theorize El wanted to amicably break up with him based on her body language but nothing is definite. I’m also not adressing all of Mike’s moments of calling up El in s2 bc that can also pass as a guilt reaction rather than romance, but the post would be too long if I start to elaborate.)
Then there’s Byler.
It was a Seven? Will waited til the others were gone. Crazy Together? Privately in Mike’s basement. Superspy hand hold? Alone in Will’s room. “It was the best thing I’ve ever done”? Perhaps they weren’t alone, but the scene was framed as if they were. Emotional, intimate, Mike was crying, speaking softly without hesitation. The rain fight, aka the Byler equivalent of the Milkvan breakup shortly before? Lucas stays downstairs, they’re alone, the scene with its light and dialogue is framed like a truly heartbreaking moment.
And s4? Heart to heart 1 (“it’s going to be up to us again”)? Alone in Jonathan’s room until they get interrupted. Heart to heart 2 (“Cool.” “Cool.”)? Alone in Will’s room.
Arguably their other two moments on top of the car and in the Van are not the two of them alone (Argyle and Jonathan are in the vicinity and in the latter Jonathan is even full on listening) but still they are framed more intimate than any of Milkvan’s moments.
And then the final scene of s4. One of the last few dialogues of the show. They sit down together as soon as they’re alone, to have another heart to heart.
My point:
Milkvan’s most “important” romantic moments can always pass as conformity and nothing else. As Mike trying to prove to everyone including himself that he likes girls (Or El, depending on the hc). With grand gestures- or rather, grand words that are never an issue with any other healthy couple on the show. As both of them being in a relationship for the sake of it, and not genuine romance.
I think it is very funny when Milkvans’ biggest argument for the ship is that it’s “been set up since season 1” but like. If my ship had been set up like that, being portrayed as a joke most of the time, I’d honestly be so offended.

→ read part 2 | → read part 3
Eddie Munson doesn’t do flustered.
He doesn’t have time for dumb crushes, heart palpitations, or anything of the like. He had always scoffed at the heart-eyed, body-floating, jaw-dropping interpretations of attraction. The dramatization of which filled his ears with static as late-night cartoons hummed on the TV, the off-switch neglected while he greened out, having pushed the limit once again.
It was at such times that he felt dauntingly lonely. He flirted with just about anyone who spent more than 5 minutes with him, to feel something, anything. It was not for lack of wit which danced on his silver tongue that he failed to sway both women and men alike into growing fond of him. He would give up the chase before it began.
Maybe he’d set his standards too high. He was a secret lover of romance; he managed to convince the Hellfire Club not only into hosting a plethora of romantic subplots in their campaigns, but also that it was of their own accord and totally not planned out in detail prior by their Dungeon Master.
Still, he had yet to meet anyone who made him feel a fraction of the excitement that surged through his veins whenever the dice rolled in favour of a kiss. Fiction was far superior to reality, so much so that his mind was steeped in unrealistic expectations of perfectly timed confessions and sweeping romantic gestures.
He always searched for a secret beauty hidden amongst the rowdy bar crowd when he was strumming epic riffs for Corroded Coffin. His eyes always scanned the cafeteria for someone interesting to fall for. Time and time again, not a soul caught his eye, at least not in the way he was yearning for.
Which is why a mundane interaction in the Hawkins High parking lot caught him so off guard it had him rethinking his entire outlook on life.
“Eddie,” His name said in a huff, like a passing thought.
He had turned, a smirk already tugging the corners of his mouth, ready to exude cool indifference to whatever half-assed insult was about to be lugged his way. Instead, he felt his limbs go rigid as you stepped into his space, soft fingers following the curve of his ear as you tucked his hair back.
“You dropped your joint.”
“Yeah?“ He was stunned from the sudden contact, but more so from the fact that your touch had caused his eyes to start burning.
He reached up, tapping the twisted edge of the paper, then, so stiffly he thought you’d perhaps injected him with paralysing venom, he gave you a two-finger salute.
“Appreciate it, sweetheart.”
You gave a single nod, your textbooks clutched under taut knuckles. “Sure.”
With that you’d turned heel, and Eddie stood there like an idiot, crowds of people brushing past him as he watched your jock boyfriend open the car door for you, clicking open and closed, engine revving, reverberating in his heart, until he was left in the wake of burnt rubber and swirling dust clouds a changed man.
It didn’t make sense. You were nondescript, you were another face in the crowd, another hand raised in class, hidden behind the gossamer of the everyday.
“(Y/n) (Y/l/n)?”
Dustin looked unimpressed when Eddie had suggested the idea of gauging your interest in joining the club.
Eddie crossed his arms, knowing he could pull off nonchalance better than anyone else, yet his heart still hammered, reminding him he was not immune to the mention of you yet. “You know her?”
“Of course,” Mike interjected as he slid into the seat beside the two, his lunch tray clattering. “She’s always hanging out with Nancy.”
Eddie realised he was gnawing on his bottom lip when the two boys narrowed their eyes at him. He gave a little drumroll on the lunch table, hoping to distract them with the flourish of a newspaper. He cleared his throat as he straightened out The Weekly Streak, eyes darting to the place on the page he’d kept coming back to.
“In the Dead of the Night, chapter forty-two by (Y/n) (Y/l/n)…”
By the time he’d finished reading the story aloud, Mike and Dustin at least looked half interested.
“He going on about that newspaper chick again?” Gareth sighed as he took a seat, getting comfy as he reached for his juice box.
Eddie seized it first, holding it just out of reach as Gareth snatched for it.
“An astute observation, my friend, but surface level,” he placed the juice box down with a thump and flung an arm over his shoulder, pulling him close, his voice lowered, “You know I wouldn’t invite just anyone into Hellfire, so think a little with that great big brain o’ yours,” he nuzzled a knuckle against Gareth’s temple and he wriggled in Eddie’s grip.
“I don’t know,” he scrunched up his face.
“I’ll give you a hint,” Eddie raised a hand to the ceiling, fingers outstretched as he punctuated each word as he said “Year. Long. Campaign.”
“Impossible,” Jeff’s greeting was one of awe as he sat down, “There would be too much ground to cover. No one person can handle campaign that big.”
“Ding ding ding,” Eddie clapped succinctly, his excitement growing, “Though your assumption is humbling, it is correct. For such a grand journey, we’d need another master writer. Someone-“ Eddie tapped on your column in the newspaper, “who knows how to weave a narrative. Attention to detail, characters, subplots. She’s the one.”
Mike and Dustin looked at each other after taking in Eddie’s beaming façade.
Mike shrugged. “I can ask her if she’d be interested, next time she’s over my house.”
“No, no,” Eddie shook his head animatedly, “No. Wheeler, you have the charisma of a damp towel. I need to be there to convince her.” He pointed a ring-clad finger at the boy, “You call me as soon as she shows up and I’ll be there.”
Gareth perked up at Eddie’s enthusiasm. “There something we should know?”
Eddie gripped Gareth’s shoulder, just hard enough to be slightly threatening. “Only that you’re all about to be treated to the best damn adventure of your lives.”
Mike’s call came later that afternoon, passing on the information that you and Nancy had made a peculiar stop before going home. The ring of the landline echoed in Eddie’s head as he pulled out of the trailer park, his palms sweaty against the steering wheel of the van.
He wanted out of his mortal body. If he could’ve separated heart and soul, he would have, so that he could focus on the task at hand without freaking himself out.
What if you said no? What if you said yes? Why did he care?
He’d never gone so out of his way to recruit someone to Hellfire before, and maybe, if he allowed himself to admit it, it was because he was chasing that high only your touch had been able to give him.
Despite being surrounded by drugs in his tailer, he’d never been tempted to overindulge. He wasn’t an addict. But one close encounter with you and he was itching for his next hit. Suddenly the romance novels all made sense, and things that had never clicked before were falling into place, the once-obscured coming into view.
It was painfully cliché. He wanted to pull the steering wheel and wake up from whatever dream this was. But as he pulled up at the arcade, he felt that strange bubbling still within him, like he truly had woken up. He could see you through the window if he squinted, the class reflecting the sunset over your form. Nancy was nodding politely to whatever you were saying, though she looked out of place, much too mature for such a setting.
Eddie hopped out of the van, the chain on his wallet clinking as he approached the entrance. The door squealed on its hinges, but was immediately drowned out by the chatter and loud music, all out of sync as each machine carried its own game theme.
Nancy’s eyes followed the darting pinball as you attempted to rack up your points, but her gaze went smoothly from top to bottom.
Nancy gave you a tight smile, “Should we head back to mine and get started on brainstorming your next chapter?”
“Good idea,” you replied, your feigned up-beat tone fooling no one, including Nancy.
Eddie thought it a good moment to swoop in and save her from needing to say something peppy to pry you from the machine.
“This one taken?”
You blinked up at him, a slight frown forming in the split second before you realised who it was.
“We were just leaving,” you announced, taking a step away and motioning like you were offering up a gift.
“Y’know, it’s all about the timing,” he said, slipping a quarter into the slot. The pinball machine lit up again, a tinny jingle sounding as the balls were loaded up. Eddie’s rings clacked against the side as he waited patiently to launch the first one into the arena.
You hovered closer to him as you watched him flip the ball expertly, hitting the bumpers with ease to allot him more points.
Nancy exhaled loudly, drawing your attention.
“What’re you girls doing here anyway?” Eddie asked casually, trying to stall for time. “Didn’t take the illustrious journalist-writer duo for a bunch of arcade dwellers.”
He viewed your downtrodden expression in the reflection of the pinball machine glass.
“A bad case of writer’s block,” you revealed, “I thought, I don’t know, the excitement might spur something within me. But nope. Turns out the only thing evoked today was the truth of how bad I am at pinball.”
Eddie chuckled, the screen lighting up with an impressive score as he finished his playthrough. “I’d take future bestselling author over future pinball champion any day.”
He felt his soul go gooey as he watched your smile grow in the glass reflection.
“If only a person could be both,” you teased, then turned as Nancy called your name from the door, where she was now waiting.
Eddie caught your arm before you could leave, and immediately regretted it, meeting your eyes in a stomach-churning instant. He forgot how to talk for a few seconds, his brain lagging behind his hard-beating heart.
“Listen, (Y/n),” he started, balling his fist to rest on the machine as the lights went out, “I uh…” He met Nancy’s gaze and she rolled her eyes, but exited with a good-natured smile on her face. “Why don’t you play one more round? I could teach you a few pointers before you leave. Take a crack at that writer’s block with some healthy ego stroking?”
You took position as he fed the machine another quarter, grinning as you asked, “What, are you going to be my cheerleader?”
He watched in the reflection as your smile fell, mouth parting as he slid his hands over yours, wishing and hoping and goddammit, even praying that his touch had the same effect on you as yours did on him.
“You paying attention?” He whispered as the pinballs were loaded onto the spring. You nodded silently, and Eddie could feel your back brush against his chest with each breath.
As the first ball fell towards the flippers he tensed, pressing down onto your fingers and subsequently the right button, flicking it back up and into a route that had your score shooting up. You let out an elated sound, something between an unbelieving scoff and an amused giggle. It had him reeling.
“Watch out,” he laughed, “Right there. That’s it.”
As the score went up so did the stakes. Both of you could see it was fast approaching the high score. Eddie didn’t stop encouraging you, and he could tell with each spoken word that he was bolstering you.
“Good girl,” he coaxed, “Keep going. Just a little more.”
He felt every jolt of your body as you anticipated the silver ball’s movements, so engrossed in the game that as he eventually removed his hands, you were still able to mimic his technique to perfection.
He could already tell that you’d work well together.
“You’re a quick learner,” he praised as you released an elated sigh at the new high score that flashed on the screen.
You turned to him, your eyes sparkling with a new energy. “You’re a good teacher.”
He tapped a hand against the machine as it went into idle mode once more. “At pinball, maybe, but I could use a few pointers on some other things…”
You shook your head, knowing this had to be leading somewhere, but you still humoured him, “Other things?”
“Well, you know,” He threw a hand up, counting off each finger as he started, “How to put on eyeliner without looking like a racoon, how the hell taxes are supposed to work, how to write a wicked story…” He drew out the last word, his last counted finger wiggling as you smiled.
“Did Nancy put you up to this?”
Eddie took a step forward as he crossed his heart. “I have a vision for the future of Hellfire, but I’m gonna need your help to get it there.”
“That’s the roleplaying game you play, right?”
“Pretty much,” Eddie confirmed, “Dungeons and Dragons. DnD.”
“I don’t get it,” you admitted as you picked up your bag, “You have to write a story to play it?”
Eddie followed you as you made your way to the door. “There are pre-written campaigns with their own lore, but I’ve always wanted to delve into writing original storylines. Only problem is, it takes a lot of work. Lots of writing, character design, you’d know how it is since you write those stories for the school paper.”
“Okay,” you pushed the door, the arcade’s bubble of noise being shut in as it drifted closed behind you, “So… you want me to join?”
“You wouldn’t have to,” Eddie slipped out in front of you, causing you to halt. “I know you’re the busiest person in school next to Wheeler, so I wouldn’t ask you to play. I’d just… appreciate some help with the story. Your writing is really, really good. I mean, honestly, I got chills reading those horror stories you posted last Halloween.”
“Really?” you glowed.
“Really,” Eddie answered.
It was the truth. He had enjoyed those stories, but he hadn’t paid much attention to the school newspaper in general until that fateful day you’d tucked his joint behind his ear and he was compelled to learn everything about you.
He’d hassled some nerd who worked at The Weekly Streak into lending him a copy of every newspaper that had come out since last October, and in the span of a couple days he’d binged all your work, through which he’d picked up on your style and quirks. He supposed that he’d learnt an integral part of who you are from the pieces of yourself you chose to reveal through your characters and stories.
Still, he wanted to learn more; he wanted to learn exactly how you’d managed to distil pure electricity into those soft hands of yours. He wanted to know how a person managed to fit the whole world into their eyes.
“So,” He fought the embarrassing urge to pout, “You in?”
You glanced between him and Nancy, who was tapping her fingers against the steering wheel of her car.
“I should say no,” you admitted. He knew why: your boyfriend certainly wouldn’t like the idea.
“But you will say…?”
“Maybe.”
Eddie huffed, pushing his tongue against his bottom teeth.
“Say yes,” His eyes flitted up to yours, “Please.”
You could tell he wasn’t used to asking for favours. His arms were folded behind his back and he was swinging on his heels. Eddie could scarcely believe he would sink as low as pleading, but he had never been more determined for something in his life now that he’d set his sights on you.
“Fine,” you spoke quickly, conscious of how long you’d made Nancy wait, “But Chance can’t know.”
“Chance?” He spoke aloud, but it clicked in his brain and he nodded. “Your boyfriend.”
“Eddie,” you raised your brow at him, “Seriously. If he found out-“
“Hey, my lips are sealed.” He even made the gesture of zipping them closed and throwing away the key.
You nodded, “Good. Then I’ll see you at my place, Friday night.”
Nancy smirked as you finally entered her car, and she said something that had you hiding your face in your hands. Eddie turned away then, knowing he’d only pick apart every miniscule expression for anything negative and be persuaded by his interpretation to call the whole thing off.
As soon as he slid into the driver’s seat of the van he took a deep breath, checked his side mirror to see that Nancy had pulled out, then shook himself out let a wet dog, expelling all the nervous energy that had pooled in his body.
“Okay, okay,” he mumbled to himself, turning the key in the ignition, “It’s happening, it’s happening.”
He was so ecstatic for the rest of the day, his uncle asked if he was high when he got home.

Wax and Wane Sneak Peek ("Break and Mend" Sequel)
A/N: HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY, BABES!! Yes, it is I, Sun. I have returned from... hibernation. Or whatever I've been doing to cause this hiatus. Believe it or not, I actually have been writing. As of rn, I am two chapters away from finishing Wax and Wane. Just need to edit and then you all will have your weekly updates.
It would've been so cool if I posted the first chapter today since... y'know... season 3 takes place on the 4th, but... that didn't end up happening. SO! Instead, I decided to give y'all a sneak peek of Chapter Two! I would've chosen something from Chapter One, but Dustin is hardly in it, so I wanted a whole Party interaction to show y'all what I've been working on.
Just a heads up, there is a hetero relationship between Doc and Will, that will change throughout the story, since there was confirmation of his sexuality. I know I've said that many times, but I just thought it needed to be said again. Anyway! Good to be back! Love you all and enjoy!
Warnings: mentions of death, also unedited so sorry

Sneak Peek
Tumblr media
When Dustin had told the lot of them that they needed to set up his Cerebro, they didn’t think they’d need to hike. Mike and El had long since passed the equipment they held off to Max and Lucas. This was just so their hand-holding wouldn’t be interrupted. This also meant the two of them would be less tuckered out than the rest of the group. Dustin happily and excitedly led them all up a very, very high hill. The trip wouldn’t have been as tiresome had the sun not been beating down on them and their arms not being weighed down by the equipment.
“Dustin, I think I’ll drop dead soon.” Doc groaned. Just like her friends, she was beginning to sweat through her clothes. Though, she feared more for her outfit than anyone did theirs. It was brand-spanking new, a lavender shirt tucked into a brown corduroy mini skirt. Brenda picked it out especially for her and she was excited to wear it for the special occasion, but now she was sure she’d have to worry about sweat stains.
“Just hold out, we’re almost there.” He looked back at her with an encouraging smile.
“Aren’t we high enough?” Lucas huffed out.
“Cerebro works best at a hundred meters.”
Max sighed. “You know, I’m pretty sure people in Utah have telephones.”
“Yeah, but Suzie’s mormon.”
“Oh, shit.” Lucas widened his eyes. “She doesn’t have electricity?”
“That’s Amish, Lucas.” Doc corrected.
“Oh.”
“Then what are Mormons?” Will questioned.
“Super religious white people. They have electricity and cars and stuff, but… since I’m not Mormon, her parents would never approve.”
Doc frowned a bit. “Awe, I’m sorry, Dust.”
“Nah, it’s alright. It’s all a bit… Shakespearean.”
“Shakespearean?” Max raised a brow.
“Yeah. Like Romeo and Juliet.”
“Right.”
“Star-crossed lovers.”
“I got it.”
From a few feet behind them, Mike’s voice called out, “Hey, guys!” and they all turned around to see the great distance between them. “This is fun and all, but, uh…” He tapped his watch to indicate the time.
“I have to go home.” El explained.
“We’re almost there.” Dustin frowned.
“Sorry, man,” Mike shrugged. “Curfew.”
And with that, El clasped hands with Mike and giddily followed him back down the hill. The Party watched them with narrowed eyes and shaking heads as Dustin checked the time. “Curfew at four?”
“They’re lying.” Lucas informed.
“It’s been like this all summer.” Will shook his head again.
“It’s romantic.” Max shrugged.
“It’s gross.”
“It’s bullshit,” Dustin cut in with a sad tinge to his voice. “I just got home.”
Doc watched the couple scamper through the grass without a care or thought to how their friends would feel about them ditching their time together. And while Doc was unaware of how much room she did not have to talk, she knew that nothing would pull her away from their day dedicated to Dustin. No friends, mall, pool or boy could keep her from that.
Turning her head, she gave Dustin a one-shoulder shrug and a smirk. “Well, their loss. They won’t get to see Cerebro in action and they won’t get to meet Suzie, right?”
At that, a smile slowly graced the Henderson boy’s face. It was small and a bit trying, but it was a smile nonetheless. “Right. Onwards and upwards!” He cocked his head farther up the hill. “Suzie awaits!”
Max and Lucas threw their heads back with groans before following Dustin. Doc chuckled and adjusted the equipment in her arms, jogging a bit to catch up with them. Will was about to be right behind her, but he felt it again.
At first, it was the goosebumps. He reached behind his neck to feel the prickling there. But that presence that he felt at the mall was back. It had never really left, it just lingered all the other times. Now, though, it was here with them. It was somewhere hiding within the grass or maybe it was right in front of him and he just couldn’t see it.
“Will! Come on!” Doc called from farther up the hill. With a start, he flinched and turned around, running up the hill and catching up with them. Grinning brightly, Doc grabbed hold of his hand and continued their hike to Suzie.

My Thoughts And Takeaways From 2024 The Grammys
The 66th Annual Grammys were last night, and I wasn’t originally going to write anything about it, but I decided to put some thoughts, because it was a relatively interesting night. Even before the ceremony itself, there were a lot of awards announced, and a few that stuck out were Paramore winning for Best Rock Album and Best Alternative Music Performance, Metallica won for Best Metal Performance, and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit won for Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Song, and Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves winning Best Country Duo / Group Performance for their hit single “I Remember Everything.” It was a bummer that these weren’t shown, but to be fair, the awards would have been hours long if they did. I was happy with a lot of these, especially Jason Isbell winning a couple, and Paramore getting a couple, as well as Zach Bryan getting one, but I have more thoughts on Zach Bryan later. Nonetheless, I was disappointed that Metallica won the metal category, because that’s exfremely predictable, and I would have liked to see Spiritbox win, but that’s not so bad. At least Disturbed’s shitty song didn’t win. Killer Mike swept the rap categories this year, winning all three, including Rap Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and the Song Of The Year, although he was arrested before the ceremony even began.
I really wasn’t disappointed with a lot of the pop categories, as a lot of the nominees were pretty good, such as Miley Cyrus winning her first two for “Flowers” in a couple of categories, and she did a great performance of the song, but both Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift won a few (as unsurprising as that was). Swift also announced a new album, so that was exciting, but she also made history by being the first and only artist to win Album Of The Year four times. SZA and Victoria Monet did well in the R&B categories, and Monet won in the Best New Artist category. That was good for her, but a lot of people were hoping Noah Kahan would win, especially for how big he’s blown up over the last year.
The disappointments didn’t stop there, although I was mainly disappointed in the country category, where Chris Stapleton walked away with a couple, including Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year, beating out Tyler Childers for both, unfortunately, but that’s still a win for Kentucky, as both men are from the state. The Best Country Album is where I felt as though some of the other artists got robbed, specifically Lainey Wilson winning when Zach Bryan should have got it. Aside from that, I wasn’t totally disappointed with anything else. That was the worst disappointment of the night, but for the most part, I was fine with a lot of the winners. Boygenius won a lot of awards, too, even if I don’t particularly care for them, but it was cool to see.
The performances were the real highlights of the night, though, and I was mixed on them, but only one was pretty bad. As I said earlier, Miley Cyrus did a great job, but Billie Eilish performed “What Was I Made For,” and that was a gorgeous performance, but we had a bunch more, such as Fantasia performing “Proud Mary” as a Tina Turner tribute, Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs performing “Fast Car,” SZA performing “Kill Bill,” and a medley of performances to honor musicians and important figures in music that passed away last year, including Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Jon Batiste, and like I said, Fantasia. For the first time, Afrobeat was performed on the show, thanks to Burna Boy performing “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” with 21 Savage and Brandy, but that was such a short performance. It was better than Travis Scott’s bewildering performance, but the best one of the night was Joni Mitchell performing for the first time on the show, as well as winning one for the first time with a best folk album win.
Billy Joel performed his new song for the first time anywhere last night, and it was an okay song, but the most interesting part of the night was when Jay-Z came up to accept some achievement award, and he decided to make it a rant about the Grammys and how they cheated Beyoncé, apparently. She has the most wins of anybody, but hasn’t won Album Of The Year, and he shaded a lot of people by saying that some people don’t deserve to be in their categories, whatever that meant. He just turned it into a rant about his wife, but he started it by talking about how rap wasn’t taken seriously by the Grammys at first, then it devolved how his wife wasn’t nominated this year. A lot of the Grammys is based on what’s popular, unfortunately, and Beyoncé did release an album last year, it just wasn’t popular enough. I also don’t think she’s released anything that great, either, at least in terms of albums, but there is a slight point that could have been made, although he made it a rant about how his wife didn’t get one. It doesn’t mean anything, and Miley said later when she won her second Grammy for “Flowers” that it doesn’t mean anything, and you aren’t any less important if you don’t have one.
I haven’t watched the Grammys in a long time, but I wanted to watch it last night, because the nominees were all pretty good, and it ended up being an enjoyable time. The Grammys still don’t mean anything overall, but it seems like better music is started to be nominated again and be recognized. Nothing made me as mad as when Macklemore won best rap album instead of Kendrick Lamar in 2014, but it was a good time. The performances were good, and the nominees themselves were good, at least for the most part. I was happy I watched it, even if there was a commercial break every five minutes, but because it was live, they had to do that to get ready for the next performance. It was worth checking out, and I’m overall not disappointed this year, so hopefully next year’s even better.

Billy teaches El how to drive (part of bigger fic, sorry its a bit longer)
“Billy is going to teach you how to drive??” Max jumped off the bed with a shocked expression.
El nodded her head, “Yes.” Max frowned, mostly confused about why her brother would offer to teach El how to drive. She suddenly felt excited about it.
“Billy also taught me.” Max then said sitting next to her friend. “Thought he was going to scream my head off but Billy was pretty cool.” She remembered out loud. “He wouldn’t let me drive fast. So I don’t think he’ll let you.” Then she turned her head to the other girl with a grin, “Driving a car is awesome El!” El mimicked her grin feeling even more excited.
“I wanna come with you two!” Max says on the day.
He shoots his sister a glare, “Why?”
“Because I want to!” She glares back at him. El could tell Billy and El are siblings in these moments.
Billy rolls his eyes, “Whatever, shitbird.” Max turns to El and they grin at each other. Billy had the car parked at the side and he tells the girls to get in.
“First you’re going to get the theory.” Billy said to El before he starts to explain what does what in the car and how someone can drive. The girl listens carefully, eyes following Billy’s fingertips when he points at something and she even stretches her neck out to look at the pedals. Billy starts to the car to show her what each of them does, how the wheel can turn the car, and what the gearshift does. Max of course also butted in to try to simplify it for El or make a joke causing El to giggle loudly. Billy just rolled his eyes, though he couldn’t help but smile when El seemed to glow with happiness. Max also had the same glow on her when El and her laughed together. Billy feels at ease and calm. Sure, he and Max still had their back and forth but it crumbled quickly.
After a while he parks his car at the side of the street again and gets out to let El take his seat. Only when he made sure El wore her seatbelt, adjusted the seat and mirrors to her liking did he allow her to turn on the car. El had a grin on her face at first but when she had to focus on the task at hand it turned into a serious expression. Just like Max had said he was making sure El was driving slowly, not too slowly, but very slowly compared to the way Billy drives. He even got out a cigarette to smoke cooly.
Well..while they were driving they ran into the other kids. El got a little too excited and accidentally turned the wheel harshly. Billy caught it in time.
“Slow down, kid,” Billy says so El does. The kids' reaction to El driving with BILLY HARGROVE in the passenger seat got some priceless reactions from them. Billy almost laughs at them.
“What are you doing??” Mike has dropped his bike on the ground to look through El’s window.
“What does it look like?” Billy asks with a raised brow.
“I’m driving,” El replies happily with a proud smile. “Billy is teaching me how to.”
“Why?!” Mike glares at Billy.
“The fuck you mean why?” Billy gives him a look, frowning in confusion.
“Why are you teaching her?” Dustin butts in also glaring at Billy, who rolls his eyes.
“Cos she asked me to.” This gains many gasps from the kids.
“You’re just jealous!!” Max shouts from the back before bursting into laughter at Mike. Billy smirks slightly.
“No, we’re not!” Mike says furiously.
“It’s okay Mike I can teach you later.” Mike grows a bit red at El’s words and it makes Billy laugh. Max laughs harder.
“We’re going to tell Steve,” this made Billy roll his eyes and take a drag of his cigarette.
“Whatever shitheads. Go play on your bikes.” The boys glare at Billy and they huff when the teenager tells El to continue to drive.
“We have to go tell Steve now! Before anything happens!” They shot glares at Max who was still smirking at them mockingly behind the window. The boys completely furious got on their bikes completely ignoring that they had passed the driving car with ease. Quickly paddling their feet towards the mall. They were running inside the mall to get to the ice cream shop.
“Ahoy- oh Steve your kids are here!” Robin calls out, then greeting the kids.
“They are not my kids,” Steve appears from the back. “What do you all want?” He sets his hands on his hips. Then the kids immediately began speaking all at the same time, throwing their hands up in the air, pointing their fingers. Besides Will.
“Whoa, who slow down!” He hushes them quickly.
“We have to save El!” Mike bursts and Steve’s eyes widen. He quickly comes closer, eyes filling with worry.
“What? What happened? What's going on?”
“She’s driving a car!”
“Why what happened??”
“She is learning how to drive,” Will says and Steve’s shoulders flatter. His face pinches.
“Are you guys serious? I thought she was in danger!” He lets out a groan of frustration.
“She is!” Mike insists. “You know who is teaching her??” Steve does not look amused, he raises a brow.
“Hopper?”
“No! It’s Billy!” Dustin quickly says. And this makes both of Steve’s eyebrows raise.
“He is...?”
“Yes! Steve! He could hurt her! Make her drive into something!” Mike keeps on insisting.
“I don’t think so,” Robin inserts herself arms on the counter for support.
“You don’t know him!” Mike snaps annoyed.
“They look fine to me.” Robin shrugs her eyes now clearly to the people behind the boys. The kids turned their heads to see unharmed Max and El walk in. Behind them is Billy with a smirk on his lips.
“Taking a break from the driving lessons?” Robin asks curiously. “You know how drive now?”
“Yep!” El smiles brightly. “With Billy.”
“And Billy is buying us ice cream,” Max declares grinning mischievously when she looks at Billy again.
Billy rolls her eyes, “Yeah, yeah.” He huffs and then pull out his wallet giving Max and El money. The two girls let Robin take their orders. The other kids (Mike and Dustin) are still glaring at him but all of them rush to the girls.
“Sooo...” Steve hummed leaning against the counter. “You’re a driving teacher now?”
“What? Need lessons?” Billy raises his eyebrow. “I take cash.”
“You charge El??” Steve gapes and Billy rolls his eyes.
“They charge me apparently,” pointing to the girls with their ice cream cones (Billy noticed the sprinkles, seems like he won’t be getting the rest of the money.) “But you I take other payments than cash, if you’re interested?” Billy put his arm on the counter after taking a step closer to Steve. A smirk on his lips and his hand touching Steve’s arm slightly.
“Gross!” Robin exclaims loudly, but Steve looks at him seriously.
“You know that I have my drivers license, Billy, right?” Billy rolls his eyes, again.

the truth is stranger than my own worst dreams - chapter two: i come back changed, i can feel it in my bones
The next morning, Nancy found herself staring at her almost empty open closet, half of her clothes already discarded on the bed as she tried in vain to come up with an outfit that said “I am a serious journalist here to work but also I’m very cool and chill”, which was proving difficult. It was a very specific message, after all.
Already discarded were all of her suits and blouses that she wore when she was working in Chicago to try to fit in with the rest of the newsroom–none of them had ever really felt like Nancy in the way that her thrifted oversize “grandpa sweaters” and leggings did, but those were hardly work-appropriate. She huffed out a frustrated breath, blowing her growing out curly bangs away from her eyes as she stared at the remaining options. There was her prom dress–that would be a no, the dress she wore to Mike’s graduation–also a no, some sort of onesie pajamas–a hard pass, and then–oh.
Nancy pushed further into the back of her closet, unearthing a medium sized cardboard box she hadn’t seen before. Opening it, she jumped back when she was hit with a wave of familiar scent–a mixture of jasmine and something sweet, like candy.
Holly. These were Holly’s clothes. Carefully, Nancy pulled out the sweater sitting on the top of the box. It was fashionably oversized, in that throwback 80’s jazzercise way that Holly was obsessed with, and a shocking neon pink. The fabric was worn and soft, the cuffs stretched out because of the way Holly would pull her sleeves down over her hands when she was cold. Nancy wanted to scream.
These clothes shouldn’t be here in an unlabeled box in the back of her closet. They should be in the dresser. In Holly’s room. Where Holly should be. It wasn’t fair. Holly was supposed to be in college right now. She was supposed to grow up. She wasn’t supposed to be in that car that night. She wasn’t supposed to be buried in a box in Hawkins Cemetery.

Could you do a Eddie one (where the events of season four never happened) where you are one of the cheerleaders and Mike and Nancy sister, in addition to sharing O'Donnell's class with Eddie and she asks you to tutor Eddie in her class, you accept with the excuse of spending more time with him without being judged by the other cheerleaders, (except for Chrissy, who is your friend and knows your crush on him) and also being judged by Jason and his basketball minions.
During your tutoring sessions with him, he finds out that you also play D&D with your brother, Lucas, Dustin and Will (before he moved to California) and he invites you to one of Hellfire's campaigns since he also has a crush on you, right after one of the campaigns, he asks to speak to you alone and thank you for helping him pass the O'Donnell class, plus he gives you a Hellfire shirt and assumes he has a crush on you and in response you kiss him
Of course I can my faithful chicken noodle
Mentions: pining, fluff, slight judgement from jackasses, Eddie shenanigans
Tumblr media
“Miss wheeler” mrs. O’donnell called snapping you out of your daydream you’d been daydreaming to much lately and it was starting to become noticeable by the teachers and your fellow cheerleaders the subject of your daydream none other than Eddie “the freak” munson. The only one that knew about your little fantasies was your best friend and fellow cheerlead Chrissy Cunningham who always pushed you to talk to him you always chickening out at the very last second
“See me after class miss wheeler” the teacher said sternly before turning back to continue explaining the lesson you quietly groan laying your forehead on the desk shit shit shit.
When the bell rings you wait behind while everyone disappears out the doors heading towards their cars or various practices you get up with a sigh and make your way to the front desk “yes mrs.O’Donnell?” The old woman looks up at you from grading her papers “I want you to tutor someone” this wasn’t the first time she’d asked you to do that before this she had asked you to tutor Jason but you couldn’t stand how annoying and preachy he was deciding to just ask Chrissy to tutor him instead.
“Who am I tutoring this time maam” you inquire fiddling with a loose string on your cheer sweater “Eddie Munson” you quickly look up at the name heart beginning to race “yeah yeah sure I’ll tutor him” you hoped you didn’t sound to excited keeping a calm demeanor “your dismissed then” you quickly ran out of the classroom rushing towards his locker in hopes he was still in the building.
Low and behold there stood the metal head in all his glory in his usual denim vest leather jacket combo sporting a Metallica shirt “hey Eddie!” You called giving him a small wave making your way to him. He looked around like there was someone else named Eddie before turning back to you wondering what a cheerleader like you was doing talking to him thinking you were just gonna ask for drugs
“I’m out of the goods till reefer Rick get snack in town so you are out of-“ he began giving you the spiel he gave everyone ignoring the butterflies in his stomach from your close proximity “no no Eddie I’m here to inform you I’m your new tutor mrs.O’Donnell asked me to” not letting it slip the real reason you wanted to tutor him was to hang out with him more without the judgment and prying questions from the basket ball and cheer team.
“Oh cool” he shrugged giving you a goofy smile walking alongside you towards your car “so wanna study at my place or yours though I must warn you my little brother mike might be a bit of a nuisance?” You question looking up at him drinking in his features “we can do it at mine my uncles working a double tonight so there should be no distractions” you blush at the thought of being alone alone with him “sounds cool I’ll see you later then?” He gives you a quick nod and you climb into your car waving bye as you drive off down the street.
You sit in Eddie’s bed reading aloud some questions in the text book. “Hey” he asks looking over at you from his place on the other side of the bed “you ever play Dnd?” You look shocked at the question but nod none the less “yeah I do well used to with my little brother mike and his friends Dustin, Lucas, and will though we stopped after will moved to California”
“How would you like to join us for one of our campaigns?” He asks gauging your reaction you kill it over thinking on wether or not you have cheerleading practice that night “Gareth can’t make it since he’s leaving for spring break early so we’re missing a player” he continued “yeah sure I’d love to” you flash him a dazzling smile causing his heart to start racing again thoughts of kissing you and telling you he liked you filling his head “cool cool” he says nonchalantly as you both get back to what little studying you were doing.
You all sit around the table enthralled by Eddie’s story of a weary traveler who turns out to be under the control of the mindflayer you watch with awestruck eyes as Eddie commands the room making everything feel so real your little brother mike picking up on the weird vibes between the two of you.
After the campaign eddie had asked you to stay back so he could talk to you. You nod and tell mike that you’ll be out in a second and just go wait in the car mike leaving with a curious glance wandering what’s going on between Eddie and his sister.
“I uh- I had something made for you” eddie starts digging around in his torn up backpack “oh? You didn’t have to make me anything” you began giving him a small smile “well how else would you be an official member of hellfire without-“ he pulls out your own custom hellfire shirt “this” you look at him shocked taking the shirt into your hands quickly pulling it on over your original shirt before throwing yourself into his arms giggling and repeating “I love it I love it I love it thank you so much eddie” as you pulled away you took in the close proximity of your lips staring into his rich brown eyes.
He keeps his arms around you as he whispers “thanks for helping me pass o’donnells class” you tilt your head and smile “anything for you eddie though I think I was just looking for an excuse to spend time with you” you murmur as you both lean in meeting for a tender kiss fingers tangling themselves in his hair.
As you pull away just barely you whisper “I like you Eddie I like you so much” his heart skips a beat as he pulls you back in after whispering “I like you to” unbeknownst to the both of you two little spies were watching from the door
“Dude Eddie’s kissing your sister” Dustin says to mike who’s making a disgusted face “yeah I see that Dustin thanks for pointed that out” he turns away with an over exaggerated gag walking out of the building with Dustin not wanting to think about his sister and his friend dating.

Ok so here are Stranger Things dynamics I really really really want to see (Dustin and his gay dads and Max and her lesbian moms being a given):
Lucas and Steve. We know Steve went to his basketball match, now I want him to take care of the Sinclair siblings (what with Erica being part of the Ahoy group), drive them to matches, argue with Eddie to move the campaign to another day so they can cheer on Lucas' game, all that. When Lucas gets overwhelmed for some reason, feels misunderstood or just had a bad day, Steve drives them to a nearby fast food and they get fries and burgers while discussing about basketball, relationships and stuff.
Eddie and Eleven. I saw a really cool post (i don't remember the user sorry) with Eddie explaining to Eleven that she can cover her tatoo if she wants, and now I want them to be friends.
Eddie and Will. Duh.
Nancy and Erica. Don't ask me why, but I feel like both would secretely find the other kind of cool, and roll their eyes at the others while making deductions. Don't ask me, idk either. Also Erica reads her articles and gives her suggestions or says snarky comments to help improve them.
Steve and Jonathan, from enemies to awkward friends -also both are Nancy's ex according to my Ronance fan self, so there's that-, watching over the kids -also Steve tries to support Jonathan's love for photography, while Jonathan is thankful for him driving the kids, including Eleven and Will, to school-.
Argyle and Steve. The confusion. Just. The confusion.
It has been said before, but Robin and Will! Robin supports Will fully and he supports her back, they get protective of the other and are ready to snap at anyone who disrespects the other.
Dustin, Lucas, Will and Mike. YES, they are the original four, but I NEED more interractions, okay?????? Having their D&D games, shouting in the car when one of them is learning how to drive, passing their driving liscences at the same time, study groups, having sleepovers and being chaotics in museums. Just the party being the party and being a mess and watching Princess Bride and Star Wars and trying out karaoke and living loving laughing yk.
Lucas and Will. I feel like I've barely ever seen them together and that's a crime. PLEASE let them talk, have discussions, Will forces everyone to go to Lucas' games and Lucas buys him jars of dices for his birthday, makes an effort to have very detailed backgrounds for all his d&d characters because he knows Will likes learning about them.
Steve and Max; I've seen a post about how Steve would take Max to drive, and I STRONGLY AGREE, we need cool older brother for Max that isn't giving her lifelong trauma ok???? Steve helping Max to park, both of them screaming when the brakes stop working once, and then bursting out in laughter in the hospital after the airbags opened and knocked them out. Steve cheers her whenever she skates and she rolls her eyes, while still smiling.
Eddie and Max, still based on post, about how Eddie would get protective of Max and him and Wayne would invite her to eat (if I find the posts I'll try to put them at the bottom of this one) (otherwise if you know them please let me know). They're neighbours and I want to see that *-*.
Joyce and Eleven, actually. I mean, mother-daughter bonding when????? Going to the mall to find Eleven clothes that actually fit her taste, having talks in the car, taking Eleven to doctor appointments and staying with her during it, smiling reassuringly.
Suzie and Robin. Okay, might be weird, but yeah. I just want to see it -both are freaking geniuses too and I feel like Suzie could probably speak more than one language, so they start a conversation in like, latin or whatever, and Dustin is just complaining about not understanding anything and they both go "urgh, boys" before laughing-.
Suzie and Steve, with Steve acting like the protective dad and squinting at that small teenager that gives no shit about his approval and broke his ears singing 'neverending story' or whatever while they were on the brink of death. Him giving her the 'if you ever hurt my son' talk and she's just looking at him like -_-.
Dustin and Nancy. He found her cool before, wants her to get back with Steve, but as soon as his braincells connect and he understands neither her nor Steve wants to stay together, he becomes a hypeman for Steddie and Ronance. He forces his mom to buy a subscription for Nancy's newspaper. She, in return, helps him with his assignements and actually teaches him how to use a gun.
Hopper and Argyle, I'm actually kind of intrigued at how that interraction would go -Hopper might be happy to finally have an in-law that's not a Wheeler, while Argyle finds him super cool-. Hopper tells him about Russian prison and Argyle is just like, putting his thumbs up going "that's crazy man".
Nancy and Will, the "can use a gun and cares a lot about Mike" duo. When Nancy learns that Will loves Mike, she just hugs him and wishes him good luck with that. They go to shooting ranges and Nancy breaks a guy's fingers when he makes a remark. Will starts making short comic books and she manages to get them published, she buys every new album. She takes him to an exposition about Alan Turing.
Argyle and Will. Argyle becomes the stoner uncle/other older brother/in law, and doesn't hesitate roasting Mike whenever he feels like he's not being considerate of Will enough (callback to the airport scene). Will finds him very nice and Argyle teaches him how to drive the van (yes I like driving prompts a lot), and does a whole speech about not letting people give him shit about anything. They all go to a fair once and Argyle cheers for everytime Will shoots and wins, and buys him a giant ice cream.
Murray and Argyle. Murray still has no idea who he is, and is confused by Argyle's energy. They talk conspiracy theories together.
Robin and Jonathan, the ex vs the new girlfriend. Robin actually finds Jonathan alright, although she winces when she learns about his stalker past, and they bond while waiting for Nancy to be done with something, in a parking lot. Both are very protective of Will (actually, everyone is, but especially the both of them) and Jonathan reacts to Nancy and Robin's relationship with a "cool" before awkwardly explaining his and Argyle's relationship. Robin is one of the first to learn about it and they make a bet about how long it's gonna take Steve to figure it out
Eleven and Lucas. Yes, they were suspicieous of the other at first, but it's been a while now and Lucas decides to teach her basketball -she agrees to not use her powers, and they both scream in excitement when she manages to score a goal-. She's very attentive to his problems even if she doesn't understand all of it, and he does the same. They're the closest to Max and that's something they also bond over.
Jonathan and Hopper: Mike Wheeler's hate group (Max is in too), awkward at first but Hopper catches Jonathan high and starts talking about his own young adult years, they watch TV together for the news, and Hopper prints Jonathan's pictures and agressively shoves them in the other policemen faces like "LOOK HOW TALENTED MY SONS ARE"
Steve and Eleven: "listen young lady", Steve decides she deserves to be protected and not always be protecting, he makes her Eggos, and they make a list of things she likes to eat. Steve helps her with buying clothes, and lets her pick outfits for him -he wears even the most ridiculous of them-.
Jonathan and Eleven: the older brother, he gives her an awkward lesson about not hurting others and not doing drugs and she just goes "what about you?", he's trying to be supportive, she reacts to his relationship with Argyle by just frowning and accepting it, and he gives her rides to school and places while they listen to whatever they find. He glares at Angela and the other bullies and has a whole plan just in case it happens again -which involves threats and stuff like that-.
Steve and Erica: Erica comes every now and then to Family Video, and threatens him if he ever tells anyone she watches Grease. Every once in a while he'll drive her to Scoops Ahoy to get her her endless supply of ice cream, and she updates him on the rumors in return. She thinks he's pretty dumb, he thinks she's too sassy, they both get along well.
Mike and Hopper: it has been said and said again, but Hopper leading a Mike Wheeler's hate club and being absolutely furious that he's dating yet another one of his children. They're arguing a lot but did end up having a frenemies relationship, which means if anyone hurts Eleven or Will, they will unite to crush them, and Hopper gives the occasional hugs. They had to drive to a restaurant together once and it almost ended in a car accident. Mike started doing the Office stare whenever Hopper got annoyed and it made him even more annoyed.
I think that's all? Anyways yes, I want to see all of that and I know the Suffer Brothers are not gonna give it to me, so yeah.

No fun theories or smart analyses or hot takes HOWEVER i think that they shouldve gone further with possessed will. I know the point was that they werent supposed to figure it out but i imagine the little ticks a possessed person might have. We already got the darker/black eyes, but i think that instead of looking out of the corners, hed have to turn his head fully. Like his pupils wouldnt move. I also think a black tongue would be kind of cool. They should done more with the black veins that come out when the mind flayer is under duress i think its the coolest shit ever. Anyway. Hi 👋 ;) possessed will headcanons go crazy
LISTEN ... I AGREE ! i agree so bad, you don't even know how bad i agree, mal. you're so right.
in hindsight, i guess it makes sense why he wasn't Super Weird, but i remember thinking that it was such a tame possession by what we assumed to be an eldritch monster. like... you'd think he'd be creepy. this is something from another world trying to pass off as human—how is it doing so well on its first try? why is will still so... will? we know why now and it's also for Plot Reasons like you said, but .. still! 😠 u kno?
like, imagine if will had killed bob in the car like shawn levy said will did in one of their super early drafts. imagine his veins turning black, his actions quick and jerky and unnatural. so... just... wrong. like, that's clearly not will, but it's also not an animal. it's just something else—something you can't quite name. and then it goes back to will-will. the monster is a little stumped bc it didn't think this through. it didn't think abt the consequences. n then will has to deal with those consequences. really hammers home the whole trapped in ur own body thing and no one believing him abt what's real and what isn't.
orrrrr ! you know how The Particles look stormy? imagine if instead of his eyes just going dark, you could see the particles moving in them (if u look reeeaaaal close) when He's pulling the strings. or parts of will turning black, like his fingertips in your drawing. or his left hand, as a callback to the whole left hand and eye of vecna stuff. like the more possessed he gets the more the rot spreads. kinda like a zombie boy thing.
i kno it had to be subtle but. maybe just maybe. they should've considered tht i would've liked to see will unhinged and feral and eating fertilizer like the flayed in s3. maybe i Wanted to see him stalking toward mike (or anyone) all slow and calculated and unsettling, creeping forward like cats do. maybe i wanted to see him have exaggerated or too-flat emotions bc the Monster is trying to mirror everyone else, but keeps getting it wrong. or a scene where the Monster is talking but those are will's eyes and they're all red and shooting around n screaming everything tht his mouth won't speak. or smth where the Monster is taking control of his limbs, like when it choked joyce, but will is fighting back. trying to pry his hand from her throat, screaming tht he's sorry, screaming at the Monster to stop please stop. smth like tht. smth to really give u the heebie-jeebies.
like, maybe i Wanted to see him thrash and kick and scream abt n then when even mike piles in to try n restrain him will's head just whips his way and he's staring at him with those Big, Big Eyes of his and. and it's will. it's will that they're all piled on top of, will that looks at their arms n faces n sees his scratch marks, will that whimpers bc three grown adults n a 45lb mike are crushing him. will who grapples with the crushing guilt n shame before the Monster grabs the reins again n starts saying LET ME GO, LET ME GO, LETMEGOLETMEGOOOO and the lights are flickering n flickering n flickering n joyce is begging him to calm down n mike is saying will, it's okay, you're okay, it's just us, you're okay n Everything Is So Loud And Keeps Happening And . and . like i'm just saying . What If I Wanted To See That In My Scary Monster Show, Duffers. What If.

First day at school. How bad could this go? For most people the first day at anew school would be considered a nightmare, for others a new chance to start over new ,for you? For you it was hell. Your parents were always travelling so what’s better than leaving two girls at home alone? Sending them to the other side of the state to live with their aunt. Now don’t get me wrong , your aunt and uncle were great so were your cousins ,but leaving your friends and habits behind to go to a place like Hawkins wasn’t in your plans for your last year before college. Nancy , your older cousin would drive you all to school. You loved Nancy , but sometimes you wished she could understand you more. “ I’m just saying y/n , maybe you should tone it down a little, I love the style ,don’t get me wrong , but kids in Hawkins high can be cruel if you stand out even a bit” she was probably talking about the dark teased mullet  sitting on your head , or the multiple piercings , or the dark clothing. Maybe even the eyeliner and heavy boots. “ I’ll manage just fine N, besides let them try and say anything I’ll just kick their ass” you said smiling at her while she just looked worried that you meant every word. You all got out the car, greeted your sister and the rest of the kids you picked up on your way and headed in. The whole school was looking your way as if you had horns and spit fire from your mouth. You just ignored them and wore your headphones. This was going to be fun.
Lunch time came. You dreade lunch time for the simple reason that you’d have to try and eat while the whole school looked at you. You got your tray and sat at the farest table alone. While you were too focused on your food and the book you were reading a girl came and sad across from you. She looked…not scared? “Robin” she said holding out her hand and smiling like a kid on crack “y/n , nice to see someone’s not scared of me, or is this a bet from your friends” she giggled “ no bet, you just seem cool and look like you need some company in this hellhole” you put your book downs “ yea every high school is a new portal to hell” “I was talking about Hawkins but you’re not wrong” you both kicked it off quickly.
“ Your cousin is…something else” Dustin said to mike while they were sitting on the hellfire table “ she’s not bad , she’s just different, not a bad different” Eddie lifted his head from a magazine he was reading “ what are you two mumbling about?” Mike kicked Dustin , but of course the little shit kept talking “ the new girl, Mike’s cousin” the long haired boy gave him a questioning look “ there’s a new girl?” “do you live under a rock” he said with hesitation “I recon she’s just the same as everyone else” then Mike chimed in “not..quite ”
Lunch ended and you walked with Robin while laughing at some idiotic pun she maid. You felt safe with her, felt like you’ve known her for years. Maybe first days aren’t that bad after all. Time passed and the final bell rang “so what do teenagers do in Hawkins for fun?” you asked while putting your stuff in your locker and walking out the school with your new friend “most of the time someone’s tongue is in someone else’s mouth and shit, maybe a party here and there. Normal, boring teenage things” she said laughing “ that’s fucking great ain’t it?” “ more like insufferable. You know, you could join the school’s band” “yeah more like a dnd or a photography club or something. I don’t like…crowds” she looked at you like a lightbulb has just come on in her head “ You should join Munson’s club then. They play DnD.” You passed the school’s parking lot and sat under a tree opening your book and Robin followed “ yeah I could fill my schedule with that, where do I find the Munson kid?” she pointed at the parking lot to the direction of a tall slim guy who danced by himself while walking “there” you got back up , put your book in your bag and told her you’d go talk to him “my shift starts in half an hour anyway, but I finish at 9 so maybe we could do something then?” “yeah, I’ll tell Nancy to drop me off then” you said your goodbyes  and started  walking up to the weirdo. He was looking for something in his bag so he didn’t notice you walking up to him. “ hey” “AAAAAAAH FUCK-h-hey” he screamed like a little girl “ woah sorry wasn’t trying to give you a heart attack” you said playfully. Eddie was lost to say the least. Was he dead and escorted to heaven? “ I’m new here and was looking for a club to join to , y’know, pass the time and I heard you’re in charge of the DnD club” poor boy looked at you like a deer in headlights “y-yeah I’m the dung- in charge. Do you play ?” you smiled when you saw him blush “ yea I used to have a club on my own back home. I was dungeon master, but we moved and ya know… so when can I come by? If there’s a free spot of course” “ there is, next meeting is tomorrow at 7pm sharp next to the library . By the way I’m Eddie” he smiled holding out his hand “I’m y/n, I’ll be there at 6:40” He was fucked. Eddie Munson was fucked because he felt like falling , and hell did he fall hard and fast.
Hawkins all of the sudden didn’t seem that bad. Yea popular kids tried to get in your head .but with Robin and Eddie by your side you felt untouchable. “so I was thinking maybe you could come over later and jam a bit at my place or watch a movie” you fake gasped and put your hand on your chest “is the Edward Munson asking me on a date ?” he laughed and lowered his head to hide the fact he was blushing “You seem to love doing that every damn time idiot” “I just love seeing you blush” you also loved the idea that one day he might actually ask you out. “ I’m not blushing, but ANYWAY THAT’S BESIDES THE POINT. Are you coming?” you ran in front of him and walked backwards so you can look at him “not a chance” you winked and got in class. Robin was waiting for you next to your seat “so he asked?” she was excited for nothing again. ‘He’s not going to ask, too much of a pussy’ you thought “uh no, but I didn’t plan on going to that stupid Christmas dance anyway” “sure you weren’t, that’s why you were browsing dresses at the mall like a kid whose ice cream just fell to the ground” “I had that expression because I was thinking how stupid and stereotypical this kind of dance is” she nodded mocking you. Last period was over and all you could think about was hanging out with Eddie . You told Nans and walked to his van. “thought you weren’t going to come y/l/n” he said as you were buckling your seatbelt “ oh but how could I miss hanging out with a dickhead like you ?” he slapped your head and headed to the trailer park. His uncle was working late shift so you two were alone. “ I’m making you suffer today Munson” he was in his room changing. His figure peaked out of the bedroom door and he just looked at you with a shirt halfway on and a scared look. Your face was probably redder than a damn tomato at this point “ don’t worry it’s not that bad.” You walked to his pickup with a vinyl in your arms. The music started playing and he  looked at you amused “who’s that?” he said running to the living room “that my dear friend is Twisted Sister” After a while of listening to the album and smoking pot you felt high enough to ask the big question. “ oh I forgot to tell you, you know how I said I would never step foot on a school dance?” was he going to ask you? Shit shit shit “well, Jenny Boldin asked if I’m going and turns out , I’m going AND I have the hottest date” he smiled proud of himself. Your expression changed from hurt to disgusted in seconds. He couldn’t see you hurt. “ew her? Munson I thought you had taste” he looked at you upset “she’s hot and she’s got that Pamela Anderson look going on, besides she’s not that much of a bitch” “whatever Eddie” he laughed “ so no one asked you and now you decided to be bitter about it” he teased as tears were threatening to fall from your eyes “yea no one asked me Eddie, because who would, right?” he panicked when he saw you shoving your belongings in your bag “ hey I never said that y/n/n” you got up from the couch and headed to the door “ fuck you Eddie Munson” you said before storming off. You handled that poorly. You always told your self to never expect anything that way you wouldn’t get hurt. Now you had fucked up big and poor Eddie was just left sitting on his dirty carpet thinking what went wrong. He had ruled out any slight chance of you ever liking him and for a while he was feeling free ,but there you were again pulling him back with your own twisted way.
Three days passed by slower than death. Avoiding that idiot was harder than you thought. You were walking down the hall with Robin heading to her locker “so I never found the balls to ask her and I’m not staying in while everyone else is out getting drunk, that brings us to the question . y/n y/l/n will you be my date to the dance?” she kneeled making you both laugh “yea yea get up dummy of course I’ll go with your stupid ass. Not wearing a  dress though” she jumped and hugged you “ I couldn’t give less fucks, you’re getting out of your cave and that’s  what matters” from the corner of your eye you could see Eddie’s figure walking next to ‘Pam’. “That’s…something?” Robin said. He never left the house without his battle vest on and now there he was with a plain black t-shirt, looking almost…normal? “yea I might puke so let’s just go” you replied and you both left. School day went by fast and before you knew it you were getting in your leopard bodysuit and leather jeans, teased your hair a tiny bit more than usual, added more jewellery ,heavier makeup and your all time favourite nightmare. Heels. You headed out the house and ran excited to Harrington’s car. “who are you and what did you do to my friend?” she said wide eyed “Yea what got into you weirdo?” Robin’s friend Steve said as shocked as her “ I guess I clean up somewhat good then?” you said giggling “ are you kidding? Why are you like, not my girl again?” Robin said. You were forced to listen to Steve and Robin yell out lyrics from their favourite songs for about 15 minutes. Hell was definitely real. Steve dropped you off and started acting like a mom. Again. “ we won’t get more shitfaced  than you used to dingus ,chill.” She said after you got out and he eventually stopped yelling rules for tonight. “I don’t want to see them having a good time Ro” she held your hand “ I know…he’s an ass y/n ,he doesn’t have to
ruin your night” she gave you a sympathetic look and you walked in the court. “ want some punch ?” she asked letting go “ yup, lots” you found an empty table and decided to wait for her there. You were just looking around , seeing drunk teenagers dancing to some Cindy Lauper song and then the thing you feared the most. Eddie and his girl. He was wearing an unbuttoned shimmery black shirt with some tight leather jeans and what looked like eyeliner. You wished that was you next to him, you wished he was holding your hand ,but most of all you wished he felt the same about you. Robin came dancing with your drinks in hand “looks like someone didn’t get what they bargained foooor” she said in a sing song voice “yea who’s that” you asked while spiking the drink with gin “miss Anderson” you looked a her puzzled giving her the cup “ didn’t she ask him? And he said yes?” she sat next to you “ she did but I guess she thought he would wear a plain white shirt and cuff pants or something. Look at them” you saw her telling something to Eddie while shaking her arms in the air and then walking off to her friends leaving Eddie alone. “ I’ll go talk to him” “ please do I can’t bear seeing that boy sad” she replied. Once you got up ‘ Every Breath You Take’ started playing ‘what a cliché’ you thought “eyeliner looks really good on you dickhead” you told him “not as good as that attitude looks on you” he fought back smiling, you lowered your head and then looked back at him. He really was the prettiest boy you’ve seen “about that, I just wanted to apologise bec-“ “wanna dance?” he cut you off and pulled you on the dance floor and then closer to him, holding you and looking in your eyes like you held the whole world in the palm of your hand. You rested your head on his chest. The high difference was still visible even with your heels “ this year I think I met the love of my life y/n/n” he spoke and you frowned “I met the love of my life and I fucked up and lost her because I’m an idiot like you always say. I need you to help me find a way to get her back” you pulled back so you could look at him and your eyes started watering again. You could be the strongest person alive and this boy could still make you melt like butter on toast. You tucked a stray tuff of hair behind his ear and he swore he could feel his knees get weak once your fingers made contact with his skin. “ you should go tell her how you feel and kiss her” “ what if she doesn’t want to kis me ? what if she wants nothing to do with me?” you smiled ,still hurt “ any girl that doesn’t think about kissing you is an idiot Eds. I’m sure she’ll share your feelings.” Replied letting go of him “ I think I should go, I can’t do this…I’m sorry” you turned around and then you felt an arm tug at yours and spinning you around. Before you could process what was happening Eddie’s lips were resting on yours. After a while you pulled back “ hey y/n?” “yea?” he smiled biting his lip “ I just kissed the love of my life” you looked at him and couldn’t believe that this wasn’t part of some stupid movie “looks like she didn’t notice, could you maybe do it again?” you giggled and he crashed his lips against yours again. “I love you Eds” you mumbled against his lips “ I have since day one” he replied and continued kissing you

summary-
Your little brother Dustin’s Hellfire group later has had a little crush on you. after Hellfire one night he finally asks you on a date. he comes to your house to watch a movie. after the movie things get heated…
⚠️WARNINGS⚠️
18+ MINERS GO AWAY RAWR seriously miners DNI, heavy make outs, unprotected piv sex (rap it before you tap it!), fingering, multiple orgasms, mentions of blood, little bit of a handjob, swearing, little bit of dirty talk?, virgin reader, AFTERCARE😩, gentle to kinda rough sex, i think that’s it lmao
word count- about 1.7k (i think)
“Dustin seriously get in the car.” you said in a firm voice, “Eddie will kill you if your late to your little game again.” emphasizing again. “Y/N chill out i’m coming jeeze.” he replied getting in the car.
the ride to Hellfire was quiet. the only thing you guys said to each other was “bye” and what time you would be there to pick him up. a few hours had passed and it was time to pick up dustin. it had been 30 minutes since the time it ended so you decided to go in.
a few moments later you were standing by the door hesitating to knock. when you finally did Eddie Munson the Hellfire leader opened the door. “Henderson… didn’t expect to see you here.” he said after opening the door. “just here to pick up Dustin, he said it would get over half an hour ago and i was wondering where he was.” you replied trying to hide your smirk at him.
Eddie had had a crush on you for quite sometime. it was pretty obvious but you never acknowledged it. he always called you “sweetheart” it made you blush every time. probably more than it should have. little did you know the more you would talk the more you started to fall in love with each other.
Eddie explained that the campaign was longer than expected and he let you inside. you sat in the seat next to eddie’s throne. the guys questioned why you where there and eddie just told them it was none of their business. Dustin obviously didn’t care but was also kinda curious. the whole time you were there eddie couldn’t keep his eyes off you. the guys even had to yell at him a few times. after the campaign you and dustin started to head out when eddie yelled for you. “Y/N wait up!” you told dustin to go to the car and you went up to eddie. “what’s up munson?” you asked. “umm i know we don’t really talk and stuff but umm i- i was wondering if maybe you’d like to go out with me sometime?” he barley got that out. he was really nervous of your reaction. “i’d love to munson. maybe we can watch a movie at my place tonight?” you suggested. “yeah totally. sounds great.” he said. “cool see ya then munson”
after Hellfire you stopped at Family Video to get a movie. you had to tell robin and steve about the date and you were pretty excited. more than you expected. steve went all big brother mode and gave you a lecture while robin helped pick out a few movies. once you settled on a movie you said your goodbyes and got in the car. “so who’s the lucky guy?” dustin asked. “and why do you care little bro?” you replied. “i’m your brother don’t i deserve to know?” he said smugly. “EDDIE! jeeze now you know nosey.” you yelled not meaning too. “wow” is all he said. “i’m sorry Dusty i shouldn’t have yelled in just… flustered i guess. and nervous” you said in an apologetic tone. “I get it, don’t worry about it… but eddie? you have about 5 basketball players after you and you picked the school freak?” you sat in silence after Dustin said that. he knew he probably shouldn’t have said that. at about 7:30 or so Mike called wanting to know if Dustin would come over. you obviously didn’t care so a little bit later Karen came to pick him up. perfect you thought. you and eddie… house to your self. jeeze why are you thinking that. you guys weren’t gonna do anything… or so you thought.
at about 8 o’clock or so Eddie knocked on your door. you opened up in nothing but a thin pajama shirt (no bra) pj shorts witch showed a lott (ifykyk) and tiny lace panties witch he couldn’t see yet… eddie came in his hellfire shirt and some sweats to be comfy. you let him in your room and asked if Nightmare on Elm Street was good to watch. “yeah” is all he said. at one of the jump scares you got scared enough to jump into eddie’s arms. he comforted you and said “wow hey it’s ok. i got you. it’s just the movie ok?” all you could think was how sweet he is. about an hour in you had fallen asleep in eddie’s arms, and once he’d noticed he placed a small kiss on the top of your head. once the movie was over eddie woke you up with a “sweetheart… the movies over you wanna do somethin’ else?” you woke up, slowly and nodded with a smile you replied “what did you have in mind Munson?” all he did was smirk.
you sat up on the bed so you were both sitting with your backs against the backboard. eddie looked at you and noticed you were blushing. you smirked at each other and he blushed too. after about two seconds eddie got really close to you. “can i kiss you?” he asked. all you could do was nod before he was kissing you. it was like heaven. you started to get into the kiss and you started making out right them. when eddie flipped over straddling you you let out a small moan against his lips. you moved your hands to the hem of his shirt and started to pull his shirt off. “you sure babe?” you nodded as a reply. he then pulled your shirt off in one swoop. (you didn’t have in a bra) “shit Y/N, did you do this on purpose?” he asked “mmm maybe i did” you said smugly. he continued kissing you and moved down your neck playing with your boobs. he went down and kissed a sensitive spot on your collar bone and you moaned again. eddie got down to your tits and let out a grown kissing against you. he teased your hard nipple with his fingers but moved them a second later. his hands traveling to your shorts. he pulled them off to see your tiny blue lace thong you had on. “jeeze are you trying to kill me..?” he said. “well no, but i need to tell you something…” you replied. “what’s wrong you can tell me anything.” he said pretty concerned. “umm well… i- im still a virgin.” you barely managed to spit out. “don’t worry about it we don’t have to-“ “NO!- i mean, i want to i want to lose it, with you.” you said cutting him off. “whatever you want princess” he continued as you nod your head letting him take of your panties. once they were off he noticed hot wet you where. “are you this wet all for me babe?” your moaned in reply as he ran a finger across your slit. “this ok?” he asked making sure you were still wanting it. “ye- yes please keep going” he nodded and started rubbing your clit.
after a while of him rubbing he asked to put a finger in. you nodded nervously but you knew you wanted it. he gently placed part of his middle finger inside your wet pussy. “your doing great sweetheart, i won’t go to hard on this pretty pussy of yours just yet” he said smirking. you started to moan loving the feel of his finger. he started to put his whole finger in pumping it in and out. “oh eddie y-yes it fe- feels so good keep, keep doing that!” he continued pumping his finger fasted. “can i add in another one sweetheart?” he asked kindly. “mmh hmm” was all you could spit out still moaning. once you added in the second finger you didn’t know what to do. “FUCK EDDIE! ohmygoshohmygosh! yesyes feels so good!” you pretty much screamed that out. “your doing great babe doin great.” he said knowing you where almost to an end. “shitshit eddie i think- i think i’m gonna cum. ohh!” he knew he almost had you. he pumped his fingers harder and you came. hard. you had never done it before all you could spit out was “fuck.” and eddie fingered you through your orgasm. “you ok babe?” he said. “yes.. but, but i want more eddie.” you replied. “ahh you desperate for my dick now babe?”
you tugged at eddie’s sweatpants while he was kissing you. you pulled them off and saw the little stain of pre-cum on his boxers. you smirked and tugged his boxers off. you stroked his cock making him moan. “shit Y/N” getting me worked up over nothin.” you smirked after he said that. eddie grabbed your waist making you comfortable on the bed. you moved your hands to the back of his neck and smiled at him. he took his cock and lined it up with your entrance. “are you sure you want this. there’s so going back to a virgin.” you hesitated because of how big his cock is but answered. “i’m sure i want my first time to be with you” he nodded putting the head of his cock on your pussy still dripping with cum. you moaned in pleasure. you prepared yourself for it to hurt at least a little. once he started going further in you both moaned more. he had one hand on your belly holding himself up on on your face. yours behind his neck slightly tugging on his hair. “shit you feel so good eddie”
“you feel even better babe,” he said. “your doing great ok?” you nodded. “shit i think i’m gonna cum again eddie fuck!” you blurted out. “me to babe, me too.” you guys moaned even more as you felt yourself cum again eddie still fucking you while moments later he came inside of you. lots of “fuck” and “wow holy shit” came out of you guys for a few minutes. eddie kissed you while he pulled out. “be right back he said” grabbing his boxers. he grabbed a towel from your bathroom, cleaned himself off and came to clean you up. he carefully wiped up the mix of both your guys cum and the little bit of blood around your cunt. he was careful not to touch your swollen clit knowing if would be sensitive. “you did really good ya know” he said cleaning your thighs giving you and pair of more coverage panties he found on your dresser and his Hellfire shirt. “thanks Munson but, i think you did all the work” you said laughing and putting on the clothes he gave you he slipped his sweats on and came to cuddle with you. you convinced him to watch a romance movie robin had gave you. with a “fine” from his mouth you kissed him and went to put in the movie, but you soon realized you couldn’t walk. eddie laughed a little and went to put the movie in himself. “pretty successful first date huh?” you said. “of course my love” he said.
thanks so much for reading babes! if you have suggestions comment and i’ll try to make them. like i said this was my first post! and i feel pretty proud. thanks again!❤️🖤

The Twins From New York: Chapter One
One week ago…
“I can’t wait til we’re out of this place.”
“That makes two of us.”
The two girls hug each other tight, get into their respective cars, and follow behind their parents. After 17 years, the girls had expected to feel more somber as they departed the Rhinebeck home. It was a somewhat sudden move.  father, David, recently took a job in his hometown and had been wanting to move back to their family since the girls were about to graduate. Luckily the girls were pretty close to their younger cousin, so the move wouldn’t be too hard on the twins.
September 28, 1985
It was a chilly Friday morning in Hawkins, Indiana. The leaves on the trees were starting to change and the cool Autumn wind soared gracefully through the town. Hawkins High School was buzzing as the twins pulled up in Quinn’s ‘83 Volkswagen Beetle, Herbs (named after The Love Bug).
“I really hope we have the same schedule. I do not want to finish senior year with a bunch of strangers.”
Rose was more anxious than she was leading on. She typically maintained a cool, calm composure but being in a new town with new people just made her stomach churned.
“We’ll see what happens. But hey, Mike’s sister is going to show us around so at least we know one person.”
Quinn tried to reassure her, but little did Rose know that she was feeling just as anxious.
As they pushed through the swarm of kids, they quickly located the office and Nancy, who was speaking with one of the receptionists. To much of their dismay, both schedules were completely different. Not a single class overlapped. They looked at each other with a knowing look of both fear and nervousness.
But, Nancy snapped the girls from their moment of despair.
“C’mon. Let me show you around a little bit before classes start.”
Nancy was great. She made sure to show where each of the girls’ classes were and give them little tips to help pass each teachers class. While walking around, Nancy had also told the girls about some of the school clubs. She had mentioned the Newspaper club which, had piqued Rose’s interest, and at the end of the subject, she had briefly mentioned a Dungeons & Dragons club that Mike was a part of. Now, that was a club Quinn could get behind.
The bell then began to ring. Nancy and the sisters said their goodbyes and went their separate ways for the day.
“Good luck!’
Nancy yelled, looking back at the twins.
~
Finally, it was lunch time, and the girls could reunite.
The cafeteria was loud as the students funneled in and met up with their friends. It was evident which ‘cliques’ were which. Quinn and Rose had managed to find each other in the chaos and were now looking for their cousin who had said they could have lunch with him and his friends.
~
The ‘Outcast’ table was getting rowdy as Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson went on another vivacious rant, yelling at those passing by and making faces at those staring. The boys chuckled around the table at the looks they were getting. After a few minutes, the table began to calm down again and the boys went back to quieter conversation.
“Dude, I swear. They’re hot!”  Mike said.
“Yeah sure. Watch them look just like the twins from the Shining. Curly pigtails and frilly dresses. Pink, I’m sure. Mike, you’re into all that girly shit.” Eddie teased, making Mike feel self-conscious for a second.
Mike has been trying to convince the boys that these unseen sisters he had met earlier in the week were actually attractive and not his inexperienced self convincing him so. Eddie was not letting him win.
“Gross, dude. Those are my cousins. And they’re not creepy twins or wear frilly dresses.”, Dustin grumbled.
“Suuuuuuuuure”, Eddie said, rolling his eyes and laughing.
Dustin had an awful look of disgust on his face which almost immediately faded to an excited expression as he adamantly waved off into the distance. Assuming he was waving the girl over, the boys turned around to see if Eddie was right.
A collective “Damn” was heard from the older boys at the table.
Eddie felt a lump in his throat as if he forgot to swallow. Next to him, Gareth was turning beet red. Obviously the boys didn’t really expect them to look like the twins from the Shining, but they definitely were not expecting them to look so beautiful. Quinn’s short, red hair was pulled into two pigtails which allowed her band tee to be on display as she walked over in black, ripped jeans and well-worn combat boots. Her collection of silver jewelry shined as she walked by the cafeteria windows. Rose’s darker red hair could easily pass off as brown had it not been for the sun shining through. It fell loosely around her shoulders in soft waves as if to warm her alongside her black, knit cardigan. She looked very comfortable, yet feminine, in a long mahogany skirt which danced around her legs, falling just above her docs. They were both giggling over Dustins excited look, finally happy to see a friendly and familiar face. Sure they were twins, but goodness. They looked like they were sent from the Devil himself to personally drag Eddie and Gareth into sin.
Eddie couldn’t help but see someone else watching the girls from his peripherals. Jason and the rest of the basketball team were quietly chatting amongst themselves and eyeing up the twins as if they were walking around in nothing but their undergarments. Eddie knew that the boys were going to be a problem. Thankfully the two girls hadn’t noticed, or simply paid no mind.
“Hey guys!” Rose called out a few feet back.
“Hey, Dustin. These are your friends?” Quinn asked as they got to the table.
“Yeah. This is Eddie, Gareth, and Jeff. You’ve already met Mike. You guys, this is Quinn and Rose”
The three boys smiled up at the girls and Jeff gave them a little wave as the boys slid down a seat on each side so Quinn and Rose could sit. Eddie remained at the head of the table while Quinn sat next to Dustin and Rose next to Gareth.
~
As soon as Quinn saw Eddie, she knew she had to get to know him. After leaving New York, she hadn’t met anyone like him, much less seen anyone like him. Everyone here in ‘Smalltown America’ was much less progressive than the people she had known back home. Here, everything about her made her an outcast. From her love of Dungeons & Dragons to her taste in music. Eddie, on the other hand, made her feel like she was home again, just his presence alone. Seeing her favorite band patches on his battle vest made her feel like she was sitting with the right people. She planned on asking about his D&D club, but she would do that later. She didn’t want to seem so eager.
Little did she know, Eddie wanted to get to know her too. It wasn’t often he met a girl who, at the least, liked the same music as him. It was mostly him and his small group of friends. He thought that would be all he needed but now, a part of him felt like he needed her too. He would try to sneak glances at her while she was speaking to someone else at the table to study her. How she dressed, how she talked, how her eyes lit up when she laughed. He has never met someone so much like him. Someone so perfect.
Now, Gareth felt like he was going to pass out. Rose looked absolutely wicked, yet somehow so sweet. He could have sworn she put a spell on him. His normal sly, cool composure was currently missing as his dizzy head buzzed and his knees felt weak and weightless. God, he thought. What is wrong with me? Sat beside him, Rose was feeling just as weak. She could feel his warmth against her right shoulder. Oh, and those curls. She couldn’t help but watch them bounce as he turned his head to follow the conversation. Her heart felt like it was moving a mile a minute and at any point now she would drop to the floor from a heart attack.
~
The conversation at lunch was light and was filled mostly with small talk. Jeff had brought up their band, Corroded Coffin, suggesting the girls come watch them practice sometime. The two were definitely interested. Eddie rerouted the conversation to Dungeons & Dragons, of course. He wanted to make a point of this evening's meeting to make sure the younger boys wouldn’t forget.
“Would you guys be interested in another person joining?” Quinn asked, her voice shaking slightly as all the boys stared at her.
Quinn was desperate to get in on the club. She had nothing better to do outside of school. She wasn’t interested in getting a job quite yet and none of the other clubs she had cared for. Not to mention it would give her more time to get to know Eddie.
“Sure. Why don’t you sit in tonight to see where we’re at then you can play with us starting next week.” Eddie responded, his heart pounding. This girl was into D&D too? What other surprises was she hiding?
Quinn was also elated.
The bell rang signaling lunch was over and it was time for everyone to head back to their classes. The girls said goodbye to the boys and went off, happy to finally be meeting more people.
~
The last bell rang, signaling that the end of the school day had arrived.Students spilled from their classrooms out to the parking lot. Finally free. Rose wandered the halls to the library to pick up a couple books for her classes and, to her dismay, the library was already closed up for the weekend. Rats. She sighed in mild frustration as she walked towards the theater room, hoping to find a quiet room to do her school work in while Quinn was at Hellfire. The halls were empty as she approached the theater hall. After pulling on a couple door handles, she finally found a room that was unlocked. It was the band room. Not exactly what she was looking for, but it’ll work.
She opened the door. Only a dim floor lamp lit the large room. Right as she flicked on the fluorescents there was a loud crash in the room. She yelped as her hand went to clutch her chest.
“I’m so sorry. I thought the room was empty.” Rose said, in between breaths and she was trying to catch hers.
Crouched on the ground was Gareth who was picking up his cymbals which he knocked over from the sudden light startling him.
“It’s okay. I was just finishing up here anyways. It’s almost time for Hellfire.” Gareth looked up, realizing it was Rose. That damn beautiful Rose.
Realizing it was just her, alone with Gareth, Rose began to get flustered, not realizing the same was happening to Gareth
“I know you didn’t want to join, but did you maybe want to come watch? Since your sister is in it. Maybe it’ll pass the time?” Gareth was trying to fill the awkward silence, but his question was asked in all sincerity.
“Um, I uh.. have some work I need to finish up but I’ll definitely come check it out when I’m done.” Rose said, looking down at her boots, afraid that she might combust if she looked at his face.
“Sounds good. I’ll, uh, see you there.”
Gareth strolled out of the room and Rose made her way to a desk sat in the corner of the room. Fuck, that was awkward.
~
Quinn’s heart was beating out of her chest. After the bell had rung, she met Eddie in the theater room so he could tell her about his campaign. They were sat close to each other, knees practically touching, hovering over Eddie’s work. She could smell the remnants of cigarette smoke and his earthy shampoo.
“So what do you think?” Eddie asked, looking over at Quinn with the biggest grin, proud of everything he had put together and hoping Quinn was impressed.
“Um, it’s great. I’m really excited to see where it goes.” Quinn said, still looking down and smiling  at the table. She couldn’t muster the couragento look up at him
“I’m glad you decided to join. I’ve been wanting one more person to join. I’m just lucky that one person was you.” Eddie said, almost whispering the last sentence and he looked back down at the table.
Was he flirting with her? She couldn’t help but blush at the thought. Thankfully, right then Dustin and Mike walked in so she wouldn’t have to dwell on the silence.
Soon, the other boys joined and the game began. Eddie put on the theatrics and everyone was enthralled. Quinn was loving the energy. Back in New York, the D&D clubs she had tried being a part of just bored her. The DM’s  had no creativity or enthusiasm. But this, this was amazing. Eddie was amazing. Throughout the night, Eddie kept stealing glances at Quinn. The way her eyes were wide and just lit up with every turn in the story made his heart race. At some point in the night, Eddie decided to write a note to Quinn. He waited til the players were talking amongst themselves in a circle.
Do you want to stay after Hellfire for a bit?
He carefully slid it over to her. She gave him a confused look as she picked the note up and began reading. He wants me to stay after? She could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. Maybe he just wants to hangout as friends. It’s nothing. She tried to convince herself it wasn’t anything more so she wouldn’t get her hopes up. Quinn looked back at him, smiling while blushing slightly,  and nodded. Eddie would have the cheesiest grin on his face for the rest of the night.

Finally, Rose caught up with most of her school work and decided she may as well head to Hellfire and wait for the game to wrap up there. She swung her bag over her shoulder and made her way to the theater room. The voices of the group grew louder as she neared. They were really into the game. The door opened slowly as it was heavier than the other door that had been down the hall. After scanning the room for a spare chair, she couldn’t find one as she sneaked in. She began to set her bag on the floor and slide down beside it, but she managed to catch the eyes of Gareth. He stood up and waved her over to come sit in his chair. Rose shook her head but he seemed pretty insistent so she made her way over.
“Thank you.” said Rose, giving Gareth a small smile.
“A beautiful girl shouldn’t be sitting on the floor.”
The exchange was whispered between the two causing Rose to blush more than it should have. She could feel his presence hovering over her and the heat from his hands resting on the back of the chair beside her shoulders. She felt weak. She glanced over to her sister. Quinnwas staring back at her with  such a shit-eating grin on her face. Rose felt like she was being caught red-handed and looked away to focus on the game.

Hellfire finally had come to an end. Jeff rounded up the younger boys and headedtowards his car to take them home. It was just the four of them left. Rose grabbed her bag from beside the door and walked over to Quinn. She was exhausted and ready to just crawl in bed.
“Hey, you ready to go?” she asked, hoping her sister would hear the exhaustion in her voice. But Quinn didn’t notice, as all she could think about was the note Eddie had passed earlier.
“Um, why don’t you go ahead and take the car home? Eddie wanted to go over a few things with me and he can just drop me off after.” Quinn responded, staring at Eddie as he was finishing putting some things away from the table.
“Oh. Um, yeah. Okay.” She was taken abit aback by Quinn’s statement, but Rose saw the way she looked at him.
To people that didn’t know Quinn well, they wouldn’t be able to see the excitement on her face, but Rose did. It was Friday anyway so she decided not to pry. She will definitely be asking about it in the morning. The girls said their goodbyes and Rose followed Gareth out to the parking lot. The two parted ways as she reached Quinn’s Bug and Rose made the drive home. Today has been a long, eventful day and by the time she got to her room, she simply shed her clothes and crawled into bed, not caring to close the curtain or set an alarm for the morning. She was out.
Quinn was about to get  much less sleep than her sister. She and Eddie had stayed long after everyone had left. The converstation started with Eddie making sure Quinn was keeping up okay with the campaign, but soon turned into talking about everything but D&D. The janitor was doing his final rounds and made a point to shut off the room’s lights to get any stragglers out of the building. Defeated, the two head out to the parking lot to continue their conversation in Eddie’s van. The smell of smoke, from both cigarettes and weed, hung in the air. He had a couple pillows and blankets placed in the corner and a small box. He grabbed the box and opened it to reveal a much larger stash than what he kept in his little lunchbox.
“Want to smoke?” he asked, glancing up at Quinn, not sure what she was going to say. To his luck, she nodded her head ‘yes.’
“Why the hell not?” she chuckled.
He began to roll a joint as Quinn took in Eddie as the moon shone over him. The light seemed to accentuate his curls. His features more prominent. He was beautiful. He looked up at her. His big, brown eyes just made her melt.
“Could you grab the matches from my jacket pocket?”
Eddie’s hands were busy packing the box back up while the unlit joint hung from his lips. She leaned forward to feel for the matches in his pocket. He was so close. She could easily just turn her head and kiss him. She could just… but no. She couldn’t tell if he was into her or just charming. Grabbing the little box, she sat back down and handed the matches over. Eddie struck one, lighting the freshly rolled joint. They spent the next couple minutes in silence, passing it back and forth, inhaling the intoxicating smoke. Quinn could feel her body relax as she slid into her high. She could feel her skin buzzing and looked at Eddie. He had leaned back as he relaxed. His head resting on the wall behind him exposing his adam’s apple. His shirt had rode up slightly and Quinn couldn’t help but look down and admire the now exposed treasure trail. She could feel a knot in her stomach as her head began to buzz. After a few moments, Eddie sat up and caught her gaze on his body.
“Like what you see?” Eddie said with a smirk.
She looked up, embarrassed. She didn’t realize she had been staring that long. Her face was turning bright red by the second. She froze as Eddie began to move towards her. Was he going to tell her off? Tell her to get out of his van?
“You don’t have to be shy around me.”
He was so close to her. His breath tickled her neck as he whispered to her. Their eyes met momentarily before he leaned into her and pressed a kiss into her lips. She stopped breathing, melting under him. After a few seconds, she gained some confidence. One hand on his chest, the other reaching for his hair, she leaned into him. The kiss deepend which turned the gentle kiss on the lips to a heated, desperate makeout. They grabbed on to each other tight, wherever their hands could grasp, as if at any point they would be ripped away from each other. They were still buzzing from their high, minds clouded by a lust filled fever. Time was passing fast around them.
The two eventually pull apart to catch some air. Checking his watch, Eddie noted that it was nearly midnight. He groaned a little as he realized how late it was. He didn’t want to push her further tonight and the last thing he needed was the parents of this beautiful, new girl to come for him for keeping her out too late.
“I should probably get you home.” said looking up from his watch. A breathless Quinn looked at hers and grumbled as well. She didn’t want what was happening to end, but she knew he was just trying to keep her from getting in trouble, which was getting more and more likely as the seconds passed.
Quinn agreed and they crawled into their seats and Eddie took off. She quickly adjusted her clothes and fixed her hair in an effort to look as if nothing had just happened in the van. He kept stealing looks at her as he drove while she was fixing herself back up. He smiled to himself. They finally roll up to her house and Eddie put the van in park.
“I had fun tonight, Eddie.”
Quinn  leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek before getting out of the car, slowly closing the door to not alert her parents. He smiled and waved as he rolled away and she walked through the door. Luckily, Rose must of covered for her late arrival home, because no one was up to catch her sneaking back in. Making her way up to her room, she recounted the events of the night. She couldn’t help just shudder and blush at the thought of Eddie’s body against her. Quinn had finally made it into her bed and laid there, eventually falling asleep to the thoughts of Eddie.
