Even tough I love and adore all my skrungly wunglies so much, there's something about Sans that none of the other blorbos can do and it's that he would be the only one who could actually get to know the real me/ my true-self (I sound crazy lmao but if you know what I'm talking about/mean here you'll get me).

Like, with the other blorbos I HAVE to make self-insert "ocs" trying to make stuff up so it makes sense in the timeline or the story of the media (yeah, even though it doesn't look like it I do that when selfshipping but I never post about it lmao), but here with Sans I can fully insert myself y'know? Also the fact that literally the game is aware that IT IS A GAME makes it easier to trully feel yourself as your own character there, taking part of everything and making interactions a bit more personal.

All that stuff, the closeness you feel and imagining this man accompanying me through so many things makes him so important for me, like a good old friend that you've known all your life, even like some sort of personal guardian (even tho his ass canonically is lazy as fuck to be something like that, but he did have that promise with Tori to protect Frisk/the player after all, right?).

To sum up, I love this man so much and he will always mean everything to me ;;w;; <3<3

Maybe I’m just a notoriously cranky gay lady or something, but there’s something really weirdly funky about how an officially published reference book like today’s DC Book of Pride comes out and without much fanfare has some curiously sanitized edits of many important character’s histories.

These histories are often messy and difficult, but being honest with them serves two purposes. For one, the characterization and history in-universe of the character are built off of those things, you don’t understand things like Hartley Rathaway’s decisions and quirks without knowing how being gay and negative reactions to him being gay shaped him.

On the other hand it’s also vital many times to real life queer history -- these stories become little parables of the struggle of this community over time. We become attached to these characters and stories because through the mess and the pain, we see our own struggles and capacity for triumph. Kate Kane being kicked out of West Point for living her truth, Renee Montoya going through the harassment and terror of being forcefully outed -- those aren’t just the character’s stories, those are our stories. We get comfort and encouragement out of them.

But maybe even more importantly and downplayed right now because it’s all but hidden inside the text of the reference book itself is the fact that they have, out of nowhere, seemingly completely retconned the family history of Alan Scott, Todd Rice, and Jennie-Lynn Hayden. 

Alan was not aware he had children. Their mother, without Alan’s knowledge, put Todd and Jennie both up for adoption. They both endured a lot of trauma and pain as a result that completely altered the course of their lives and, especially for Todd, is VITAL to understanding his character and behavior once the narrative picks back up with them in their teenage years, when Alan finally meets them. 

It’s also, by the way, why they all have different surnames. 

But apparently, out of the blue, this reference book has decided to inform us that this history no longer exists? This is DEVASTATING for Todd’s history in particular. I’m not sure how to reconcile this?

idk man. If you’re going to be a reference book, maybe make sure you’re clear about what the continuity of everything is first?

Hot take apparently but I don’t think landos delusional to renew his contract with McLaren. If we compare the development of max and redbull to Lando and McLaren a lot matches up. Yes Lando hasn’t gotten a win yet but McLaren has been investing in lando since he was 17/18 years old. They’ve taken on his development and helped him and he’s a phenomenal driver now, whether it’s his tire deg or the way he barely has crashes and costs. I feel like people forget that McLaren is landos team he is building that team up like max did with redbull. He finally (hopefully) has a car fighting for a win especially since Lando and McLarens car last year was the closest car to the rb19 and max. Anyways ln4 for 2024 pookies 🫶

Sometimes Miraculous Ladybug does things that look dumb but that I enjoy anyway because the characters are fourteen. Like Alya’s blue camo supersuit? I think it’s hideous. I think it looks terrible. Feeling bits and pieces of Lana & Rena's story fall into place these past weeks/months since I've started to re-think about them is so satisfying.... I really wanna find something better than the first/old version of their dynamic ! (I don't blame young me, I didn't know any better back then haha) There's still a lot of weird spots and events & changes to figure out (especially their order of arrival) but it's so so fun thinking about them again aaaaa, I missed my messy girls so much

My partner Quill (@themadcaptain) and I are putting characters in situations again, and we’re here in the hit online MMO The World

We've really only ever seen .hack//SIGN and between us, we've maybe played 3 out of 4 of the PS2 games (we started replaying .hack//Infection a while back) so our knowledge of the series is vague and limited at best... I'll look into the rest, but .hack is just a large multimedia franchise with SO MUCH BACKGROUND STUFF HAPPENING

anyway, BACKGROUND STUFF (assuming you know nothing of the .hack series):

The World is a fairly standard VR-enabled MMORPG, but otherwise functions as any other MMO does. It was originally created by programmer Harald Hoerwick under the name Fragment.

The story behind The World itself is largely based on an epic poem known as the Epitaph of the Twilight, written by fictional poet Emma Wieland. Hoerwick was infatuated with Wieland, and when she died, he created Fragment in order to immortalize her work. Fragment, and subsequently The World, contains a secret black box project he had been working on: the ultimate AI named Aura. In universe, this black box data exists within the game, but it is unable to be analyzed. CC Corp, the company that buys Fragment from Hoerwick, beta tests it (with beta testing ending early for unknown reasons), and releases an upgraded version known as The World.

Because of the presence of this Ultimate AI, a lot of mysteries crop up in game, and some players are met with disaster as a result (ie. many fall into comas, have their consciousness trapped in game, etc etc.) and CC Corp is trying to cover up these disasters by deflecting responsibility. However, the AI has been aiding hackers within the game in stopping the mysterious corruption in the game's files.

...SO WHERE DO THE YUGIOH DUDES COME IN?

The parallels between Harald Hoerwick and Pegasus are obvious. It would also be really cool to have his dead fiancée have more of a role other than being Pegasus's muse and motivation. (Also, if you've played the .hack games and seen the creatures in game, then you know this is something he would have absolutely created.) I don't know much about Wieland, but it's implied that she was using Hoerwick's research and talents for her own ends, which is fascinating.

I like the idea of Kaiba Corp collaborating with I2 on this game, with I2 selling it to KC... I also imagine KC still having Gozaburo and The Big Five who would be dismissive of the players' concerns about the comas and such, going so far as to delete forum threads and accounts just to save face...

Then we have Seto Kaiba. The future CEO of Kaiba Corp. Current leader of the Cobalt Knights (group of admins in The World working for KC), and this AU's stand in for Balmung of the Azure Skies Eyes (hehe). I imagine he has NO IDEA what's going on behind those closed doors, but eventually learns what role KC is playing in regards to all of this, and vows to put an end to it on his terms. I also like to believe Mokuba is also part of the Cobalt Knights, and is one of the victims who gets his consciousness trapped in the game, very much like Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN.

And Noa Kaiba? Big Morganna Energy... In .hack//SIGN, Morganna was created to oversee the birth of the Ultimate AI, but would ultimately rebel from this purpose, stalling the development of the Ultimate AI and setting off a lot of disastrous events. I imagine Noa would also be, like, the consciousness uploaded into the system - the one who could access the black box data - but could not export it to KC. With his own father abandoning him within the mainframe, Noa is working to destroy the game from the inside out... and he's responsible for trapping Mokuba in-game.

I feel like if one's consciousness can be uploaded into the MMO, I think it could stand to reason that ghosts and spirits can exist there too...

Alright, so there's some background info... and sadly we're a bit intimidated trying to tackle it all, and also trying to keep up with the different continuities between the different anime and the video games... one day, we'll figure it out... and one day I won’t be too intimidated to tackle this story from Kaiba’ POV…

(he said that he gave him one antenna because he thinks that Mike is an alien). In the meantime, when my mother saw him she couldn't stop laughing saying “His face, he just looks so silly” X,D
