Sargent Taura! My beloved space wolf girl <3

She could snap my spine in half. Queen. Anyway, her braided hair can wag like a tail through the power of cute. I know she doesn’t look good in pink canonically, but that’s what I had on me rip. Super beef, natch, plus I figure she has just random scars from experiments and mercenary battles. There’s a big litchdenburg lightning scar stretching from cheek to hip that’s from a shock collar. Since. Why not, and I feel like Jackson’s Hole would do that for genetic constructs/slaves who act out especially when there wasn’t a buyer anymore, and they don’t have a lot of other options for keeping her controlled. Plus a funky fresh cattle tag! Cause I love sprinkling trauma from dehumanization wherever I go.

easiest name to have, and perhaps i care too much about yuki and nyck that i've put the most brainpower into this. welcome taura, at least, taura of a few months. she'll undergo a few more changes that i'm currently working on lol

you'll notice that as i design the dresses, there'll be overlaps. rota and taura both have the same collar and sleeveless, ferrata and taura have one slit in the skirt, and several others will have similar features. this is to reference the similarities and overlap teams have, so if they share an engine or name, they'll have similar parts.

taura was easy to design because yuki and nyck had plants on their helmets - yuki with his momiji and nyck with his frisian lilies - along with alphatauri being the name of a star, so i had to put a star motif somewhere. other parts of the dress are inspired by the AT-04 itself, namely the floor being referenced near the collar and the shoes being wire-like.

that line is based off of some of the lines that are on the AT merch, but i based the shape off of imola circuit

Remember that dream I had months ago about a Tahitian shark mermaid guardian-human hybrid lovechild which inspired me a story ? It's been months I wanted this story to be accurate to Tahitian myths without changing the dream for how beautiful it looked but I had a hard time finding shark people guardians. Now I finally found 2 possible solutions : either make them the descendants of Te M'ao, the shark who guards the sacred celestial waters of Te-vai-ora (it's what I personally lean more towards), or make them taura, animal guardians who watch over people from afar. None of them are described as mersharks, but it's close enough and we can suppose they are divine shapeshifting beings, especially since in the dream they could turn into actual sharks. Also a bit frustrated, Solomon Islands DO have shark mermen creatures called Adaro, but not only I don't want to change the Tahitian setting the dream had, Adaro are evil and aggressive unlike the sharks from my dreams who were peaceful guardians

My Fanon Star Sprite Characters

Yep, I made some Star Sprite OCs, too.

King Orion is the wise ruler of Spriteland, the kingdom far out in space where the Star Sprites are native to. He is a kind and forgiving man with a very silky mustache. Orion is a pretty busy man, but when he's not doing things related to kingdom management, he's all ears and is open to conversation. He insists on maintaining order, but he tries to be open to trying out new things. When Peach sent word across space to Spriteland to ask the Star Sprites for help and Leo wanted his daughter to represent them, Orion decided he would give her a chance. When Orion was younger, he was a hunter. 

King Orion and his wife, Queen Corona, work together to run Spriteland. Corona is smart and bright, and she likes making small talk. She has a strong sense of justice; she insists on creating a safe environment for everyone. She abides by the rules she and Orion set up. She is not fond of Apollo's attitude and does her best to keep him under control. She loves to read, and the star above her head is often very shiny. If she were in a Mario & Luigi game, she would want to play a minigame with the brothers since she's heard they're great at that from what Starlow says. 

Prince Apollo is Orion and Corona's son, but he is not a serious person. He is mischievous, and maybe, he tries too hard to be cool. He wants to look good for the people, and he flaunts how "on fire" he is. He swaggers around a lot, and he's got some attitude. He acts rather questionably, which concerns his family and lands him in trouble. Apollo hates that, and he also dislikes when his family "embarrasses" him. Apollo writes rap songs and uploads them to StellarSound, but honestly, the only reason anyone would follow him is because they respect his status.

Princess Sputnik is Orion and Corona's daughter and Apollo's twin sister. She is smart, charming and sweet, and she is more obedient than her brother. She knows that their parents will pick one of them to succeed them one day, so she tries to get Apollo to pull himself together so that their parents will actually have options. Sputnik doesn't get along very well with Apollo. She is learning everything there is to know about being a ruler, and she tries to make responsible decisions. She enjoys looking at the stars in space.

Goldry is a very good friend of Starlow's; she might even be her best friend. In my M&L fanon, Starlow really loves her representative job. She is very enthusiastic about staying with the Mario bros. and company on Earth, and she loves it enough to want to move there. Seeing Goldry and her parents is kind of her only motivation to go home to Spriteland. Goldry is a bookworm who is humble and clever. She is sharp-witted, and she will read up on anything she wants to know. She is loyal to every one of her friends, Starlow being no exception. She will tell her about anything that happens in Spriteland and get excited when she sees her. Goldry's favorite subject to learn about is astrology. Her name is a portmanteau of "gold" and "starry."

Astrielle is Starlow's mother and a good engineer. She is very intelligent and is good at working with machinery, but she is also emotional, caring and sympathetic. She doesn't like having to see her daughter leave for her job, but she understands that Starlow loves to adventure with the bros. and bring her starlight to Earth. She would love to meet Mario and Luigi. If someone is going through a hard time, Astrielle will show them love and kindness. She tries to be a shoulder for people to cry on. She is working for an organization that builds machines that use star power to improve people's lives; she helps to wire those machines together. 

Xander is a young employee of that machinery organization, and Astrielle works with him. Xander is mostly absorbed in his work and doesn't like to socialize. He's irritable and bitter, but it's easy to lighten him up. Xander usually turns to Astrielle for some comfort whenever he feels that his job is too hard or that people won't notice his hard work. He is very loyal to the organization, so he just wants them to recognize his work. Xander is a defensive person, so if the organization needed someone to protect it, he would. Star Sprites typically don't need to wear glasses, but Xander has very bad eyesight. 

Iris is a graceful and pleasant girl from outside Constellation City, the most populated area of Spriteland. She treats everyone with respect, and she is brave and self-assured. She does not have the same abilities that Star Sprites usually have, which is something she has dealt with since birth (it does not come from the purple ribbon she wraps around her star). She has always had a tooth gap. Iris is a lover of all things purple, which is why she almost always wears purple shoes and a purple ribbon. Xander is madly in love with her.

The Zodiac are King Orion and Queen Corona's royal guards. They represent the 12 zodiac signs, and they watch over the people of Spriteland. Because Spriteland is a kingdom that devotes itself to exploration, they also look after other planets and galaxies. Like all Star Sprites, their abilities are derived from their star energy. They are each armed with weapons that suit them. To help them battle more efficiently, they are able to take human form. They are all fully grown adults. You might think they live in the castle, but they don't, and they get up in the dark to go to work. Ra1nb0w-Ph0en1x knows a lot about astrology, so they helped me write their personalities out. 

Ari is the ram. She is very brave as well as confident, but she has to be in a space where she feels comfortable enough to feel confident. She can be impatient sometimes. Ari tends to dive headfirst into things without thinking about possible consequences. She is not good at leading people or coming up with ideas. She thinks carefully about what she says to people. She lives with her aunt in her large house. Her weapon is a handheld battering ram. 

Taura is the bull. She is hardworking and shows determination. She shows dedication in all that she does for everyone, and she is usually obedient, but also pretty stubborn. Taura does smile, but she is also quite aggressive. She is athletic, but sometimes lazy. She has trouble being honest with people since she is afraid she might hurt their feelings. She isn't very smart. She lives with her cousins in a multifamily home. Her weapon is a sword; its blade is shaped like a bull's horn.

Gem represents the twins. He is not very intelligent, but he's energetic, and he has good communication skills. He is flexible, meaning he is able to adjust to different situations. He isn't someone you can trust with keeping your secrets, though. He's also unreliably forgetful; if someone asks him to do something, he'd accidentally forget about it after some time. He lives with his twin brother, Nye, who wants to be with him forever. He dually wields two small knives as his weapons.

Canci is the crab. He has a generally sweet nature. He is one of the smarter members, and he gives good emotional advice. He is a cautious and generous person, and he is not one to hold a grudge against people that try to harm him. He is a little bit too saccharine and overemotional about things. He's a bit possessive of things that are important to him. He is quite secretive, and because of that, others can get a bit suspicious of him. He lives in a small house with his adopted children. His weapon is a shield in the shape of a crab shell that can shift into a crab claw spear.

Leo is the lion, as well as Starlow's father. He is prideful in both a good way and a bad way. He's brave and confident, and he likes to try out new things. He's loyal, strong and polite. He is a tiny bit self-centered. He is the first person that the other members turn to for answers, but he doesn't always give the best ones. Starlow is so enthusiastic about bombarding you with annoying combat tutorials because she has learned what she knows about combat from Leo. She has also gained her knowledge of Earth and her extreme love for it from him. He lives with Astrielle in their house, and Starlow stays with them whenever she comes home. His weapon is a whip that looks like a lion's tail.

Viga symbolizes the maiden. She is neat and tidy, but she is not very good at noticing little details. She is very patient, as well as kind and graceful. She is also modest and loyal. She is kind of judgmental and isn't very good at giving criticism; it comes off more as her hating on someone. She is a bit stubborn like Taura, picky about certain things and somewhat uptight. She lives alone in her own house. She is also aromantic and asexual. Her weapon is a parasol.

Libi represents the scale. She has a strong sense of truth and justice. She is a sociable person. If you upset or anger her, she will not visibly look mad; she'll bottle up her anger and get back at you when the timing is right, with the same level of damage. She's a bit controlling and comes off as emotionless at times. She used to study law before she decided to become a guard. She lives with her elderly father in his apartment so that she can take care of him. Her weapon is a pair of nunchucks that have extensions on each side; these extensions are attached to small cups that look like the cups on a scale.

Sagi is the archer. They are creative and friendly, and they tend to be optimistic. They are pretty outdoorsy, but they don't really like to travel to far off places. They are a very sweet and nurturing person, and they would be a great parental figure. They can be a little bit too blunt, and sometimes, they're emotionally cold. They have their ways of making their flaws work for them with their innovative skills. They are no stranger to confidence. They live with their wife in a house close to her outdoor gear shop. They are agender. Their weapon is a bow and arrow, but it doesn't fire arrows that pierce people. 

Capri is the sea goat. He's a goal-oriented, ambitious and helpful man. Like Ari and Viga, he can be stubborn. He is also impulsive, but he still works hard to keep everyone afloat. He is normally disciplined and tries to remain calm, but he gets sort of brutal if he's provoked enough. He lives in a beach house with his wife and their sons, one of which is transmasculine. His weapon is a trident with goat horns beneath the three spears.

Aqua symbolizes the water bearer. He is an open-minded guy who tries to bring out the best in everyone. He treats everyone with kindness, and he joined the Zodiac in support of humanitarianism and the general welfare. He has a rather short temper like Scorlo, and he is absent-minded, so he isn't always aware of what's going on. Sometimes, when he's on patrol, he'll head away from his post to do something else for a bit. He lives with his father and stepmother by a river. His weapon is a net cannon shaped like a water bearer's jug.

Pisci represents the fish. She is sweet and kind and has a positive mindset. She would never tell a lie. She is extremely generous, and she gives out what she wants to get back. She likes to make other people feel happy. She isn't very creative, and she is the most emotionally sensitive of the Zodiac members. She's a little bit gullible. She is also pretty indecisive, and she's not very adaptable to new things. She lives in a house located near a harbor with her husband, their genderfluid child and their daughter. For her weapon, she wields a battle ax, its blade shaped like a fish’s tail fins. The handle has a fish scale pattern carved on it.

It is a curious and poignant thought that I can now find grief in things.

I wonder if Bujold knew she was writing such a powerful transgender allegory with Taura. Strong as she was, the way she moved through the world without feeling like she could be a part of it because of her appearance, her long belief that nobody could love her. All of these things, struggled through. Fought through. Recalling these things about her, I found new and fresh personal connection with them.

I reread Cryoburn today and though I knew it was coming, the news of her passing struck me hard.

No one should die of old age at 30.

Ship: Taura/Peter Rating: General Summary: Captain Taura meets a hot alien.

"Increase to light speed," Captain Taura said. "And tell the robot to bring me a cup of tingly coffee and a horse sandwich."

A shimmering siren went off! "We're caught in a box Beam," the pilot said. "I think--"

A hauntingly light filled the bridge. Taura blinked and there in front of her was an alien. A tender alien, well, probably an alien. He actually looked nearly normal except for his dangerous hand and the box he was carrying. In fact, Taura thought he looked pretty great, for an alien.

The alien waved the box at Taura. "I am Peter of the Lovely System. You have violated our territory and must be destroyed like a ducking that lost it's mother!"

"Our mission is peaceful!" Taura yelled. "And anyway, you were the one who stopped us from leaving."

"Sorry," Peter said. "I don't make the rules." He tapped happily at the box.

Taura grabbed for her blaster but she had forgotten it against the wall. The ship was doomed for sure this time.

Just then the robot rolled into the room with the cup of tingly coffee and the horse sandwich. It bumped gently into Peter. Peter looked at the tingly coffee, then up at Taura. His hand seemed to get even more dangerous and he dropped his box. "I accept your romantic gesture," Peter said. "Of lunch."

"Um," Taura said. Maybe she should tell Peter that it was actually Taura's lunch.

"Also, I'll waive the destruction." Peter came up to Taura and took her arm, then kicked her loudly.

Taura felt her cheek become quiet and then gentle. She decided not to say anything about the lunch. She kicked Peter back for quite a long time, and squeezed Peter's dangerous hand.

"Every soft planet, it's the same soft thing," the pilot muttered and ate the horse sandwich.

And the strangest thing is, his intent to propose will come on a complete whim. A passing thought, a trifling fancy. But for as sudden as the idea comes to mind, Doflamingo is incredibly unwavering in how right he feels it to be.

A keen eye may notice the way he just gazes at you in the days before he chooses to propose, watching and calculating when the best time would be. Doflamingo doesn't like being unprepared for any encounter, even something as seemingly trivial as this. Ensuring the highest chance of success, he'll bide his time, seeking the opportune moment.

Monkey D. Luffy

Marriage was never something that Luffy truly thought about. What was the point in a ring and a ceremony if he already called you his anyway? Truthfully, if asked about it, he'd reject the idea of marriage simply because it seemed to imply freedoms being taken away.

But after thinking it over long and hard—it wasn't as if there was anyone else he'd rather have in his life, so really the stifling aspect that was so often associated with it didn't matter much—Luffy could see the appeal.

Being able to make sure he could have you all himself, with no one else to contest that...well, the selfish part of him couldn't deny that sounded good. But of course, being the carefree and unconventional man he was, you weren't going to get the standard proposal either.

Asking the crew for advice was possibly the worst decision he could have made, given they all had different ideas on the best way to go about it. Anywhere from a shipload of flowers and chocolate and singing doves (Sanji and Franky's input, of course) to just outright telling you the two of you were married because it was easier that way (Zoro), he was left pretty much no closer to a solution than before.

So, he figures when he felt the time was right, in the heat of the moment, he'd just ask, plain and simply. It was a very 'Luffy' way of doing things.

"Hey, Y/N...we should get married. They have meat at weddings, don't they? And big parties and cake? Brook can play the music and Franky can make us some rings. It'll be a pirate wedding, right on the Sunny! Huh? A suit? Why do I need that?"

Dracule Mihawk

If you've loved Dracule Mihawk for any length of time, you'd already be aware that he is not a man to be rushed. Just as skill in swordsmanship is something to be learned and honed over years of dedication, so too is a relationship with him. And marriage is simply a next step in that slow timeline.

You'll practically feel married already, before he ever gets around to asking that oh-so important question. The two of you are so damn domestic and secure to begin with, at times you forget that he isn't actually your legally-recognized husband. A slip up he too can make in kind on your behalf. And it's in those moments that Mihawk remembers he hasn't actually asked you for your hand yet. Hmm. Odd.

It's a mixture of curiosity, a particularly boring afternoon, and a sudden feeling of foolishness that has him making his mind up to ask for your hand. Foolishness that it'd taken so long to begin with to think that you may be waiting, hoping, wanting something more tangible, something more recognized from him.

He doesn't go to great pains to make the day special. No, that would simply make you suspicious and liable to ask questions he didn't have plausible answers to. Rather, it's as any other day before it had been. Chores, the occasional walk along the island's shoreline, and time set aside to read or have time to yourselves. Quite perfect already in your eyes.

You're convinced that the question would never come, had made peace with that unfortunate missing piece in the relationship, when he's suddenly producing a ring from his pocket and holding it for you to inspect under the brilliant rays of a moonlit night, some wine and the lilting melody of your favorite song on the tone dial on the hearth.

"I suppose this question is more a formality than anything, I already consider you my life-long partner. But I've come to realize that you may indeed feel something missing, without a ring to symbolize how we care for one another. So saying, will you marry me, Y/N?"

Eustass Kid

For as brash and resolutely stubborn a man as Kid can be, when it comes to matters of the heart, he's decidedly less steadfast. Marriage was a big next step, and he couldn't seem to truly convince himself it was what he wanted. Simply put, Kid suffered from a reasonably perpetual fear of commitment.

The fear didn't come from a distrust of you. Absolutely not. But time and happenstance changed a person. You could change. He himself could change. Who was to say you both liked who the two of you turned out to be by this journey's end? It would be devastating to feel regret for something that might have felt so right at a point in the past.

After a lot of self-reflection, drunken nights standing up on the deck of the ship on his own, and some surprisingly personal conversations with his first mate, Kid figured that he was just fearful of changing the relationship you already shared. But the possibility of what more you could experience and cherish as a married couple was worth the risk.

A ring made from his own two hands would speak more to the feelings he held for you in his heart. Kid was not a man of words. This he recognized. So, perhaps where his inadequate words failed, the fruits of his labors and hard work would suffice. It's a project he spends weeks on, and in the end he knows he'll never truly be satisfied that it's good enough. But after buffing and shining and second guessing himself so many times, he knows he's just postponing and stalling by now.

This poor man is not particularly skilled at masking when something is bothering him or when he has a secret. You tell right away that day that something's up, but no matter how many times you ask what is on his mind, he denies that anything is wrong or different about him. It's only after he insists on dining alone with you that night, with a candle lit on the table between you, and Killer preparing a fancier dinner than usual for you, does he come clean.

"Don't laugh, Y/N...I'm no good with words, you know that. So, I hope that this ring is proof enough that you mean everything to me. My second dream, other than being the King of the Pirates, is to see you next to me every day until we're six feet under somewhere. I hope that's your dream too, so...you'll marry me, right?"
