ik everyone and their mother has said this already but I appreciate how many episodes of puppet history focus on non-white stories and are both respectful and dont just focus on mass suffering at the hands of white people, and when they do have episodes involving that they still make sure to focus on the people fighting back and not just "oh this horrible thing was done, sad!"

Also I appreciate how Shane makes an effort to pronounce shit correctly, and to be respectful of people's cultures and spirituality, and to find lesser known stories from these cultures. It's always cool to go into the comments and see people who usually don't see their history or people acknowledged talking about how happy the episode made them.

Shadow Puppets AU stuff - The Collector’s AU Design loosely based on this concept art and some of Philip’s timeline

Philip was born on the road and he and Caleb never stayed in one place very long until they settled in Gravesfield when he was six

He uncovered the Tablet that the Collector was in at age 8, and during their friendship, the Collector decided to use he/him pronouns and Philip helped him pick the name “Astrophel” after the Sonnet Sequence Astrophel and Stella by Philip Sidney 

Not depicted in the timeline, but Philip was 12 when Caleb disappeared into the Demon Realm, and in this AU took the Collector’s Tablet with him. Philip also didn’t go after him alone, and actually was tagging along with a group of Witch Hunters, which included the General

The Witch Hunters all slowly died off while they searched for Caleb, leading to Philip being alone by the time he was fifteen and inflicted with the Curse of the Wendigo (I’ll upload a separate post about the Curse in a couple of days)

Philip lost track of time and was somewhere in his early 20s when he actually found Caleb, and mid to late 20s when he meets Luz. After killing Caleb, Philip set out to find his friend, the Collector, who was hidden by Evelyn and once she knew he was looking for them, created a bunch of fake Tablets to throw him off the trail and made several attempts on Philip’s life until he faked his death and went into hiding.

When Philip found Astrophel he was not able to set him free, but was able to use a glyph combination he created to transfer him from the heavy, hard to carry tablet to a smaller necklace he stole from a previous companion, which they call the Luna-Stella Amulet- Astrophel wears it around his neck in his physical form.

After Philip was certain Evelyn was dead, he started up his crusades against wild magic. Philip picked the name Astrophel for the Collector, the Collector picked the name Belos for Philip

After becoming Emperor, in this AU Belos has a sun/Day motif to compliment Astrophel’s night motif

As before, the only ones that can see and hear Astrophel are people who have touched this Amulet, which by the time Luz enters the demon realm, is exclusively Belos and Hunter, and they form a trio which are a dark parallel to Luz, Eda and King

Jade and Dirk get into mlp discourse with each other. I don't think Jade likes Dirk very much-- hes a friend of her friends --and that's not helped by the fact that their mlp opinions are opposites. They have beef through anonymous forum accounts on earth c. Like really toxic fighting on the internet kind of beef but they're both having fun with it. They are not friends but on this specific topic they're bitter enemies who have fun with their hatred of each other. Other topics theyre chill with each other on it's only the mlp opinions that they're tearing each other apart for.

But I love imagining Wally stims by tapping his hands. Like on his knees, or the counter at Howdy's, or on a fence. It's a slow tap with not any specific rhythm.

And of course, he'd absolutely mirror stims you cannot change my mind. The idea of seeing someone bounce on their heels as a stim only for Wally to see it and start slowly bouncing along with them to join in on the excitement warms my heart.

like yes totk is technically much darker than other zelda games, but is there any emotional weight to it? when the plot consists of these out-of-context cutscenes that you can collect in any random order at any point in the game (or not at all) with zero impact on the plot or link himself? somehow the silly toon zelda game managed to make toon king daphnes of hyrule's sacrifice more heart-wrenching than king rauru of hyrule's, and the toon guy was literally a boat for most of the game

#loz #finding the memories is completely optional. does not change the story at all. #you can't just put disjointed scenes of dark things happening in a storyline we're not part of into the game like optional collectibles #and point at those like ''see look how dark our game is'' #maybe you should've let us play some zelda sections to develop more of an emotional investment in that storyline #or maybe given link the protagonist of your game an emotional investment in that storyline #does anything dark even happen outside of those cutscenes #that like. means anything #puppet zelda could have been really creepy if link wasn't standing there like 😐 the whole fuckin time #in botw it made sense for link to be more emotionally detached bc he was an amnesiac and it was part of the tragedy #still could've explored his character more (like in the original japanese) + shown more expression at the end to complete his character arc #but it was a more minor complaint in botw #in totk it's like does link even give a shit abt anything that's going on
