New OUAT OCs
this is all @the-witching-ash's fault for encouraging me to make a new oc to ship with Graham and now instead I have 10...
Angel Dearly | Anita Dumas in Long Live: Anita Radcliffe in the Enchanted Forest but has not married Roger so keeps her maiden name, Dumas. In Storybrooke she's a waitress at Granny's Diner who dreams of moving away and becoming a fashion designer. Shipped with @the-witching-ash's Roman Taylor | Roger Radcliffe and is Anastasia Dearly | Adelaide Dumas' granddaughter*
Named Angel for its similarities to Anita; Dearly for Anita's last name in the live action movie, and Dumas for Alexandre Dumas the French author/playwright
*this is specifically in Long Live/the crossover, theoretically she has a solo verse shipped with Graham but I only care about the crossover
Tumblr media
Alissa Thorn | Priscilla Page in Dear Reader: Priscilla Page (from the Fables comics) in the Enchanted Forest, in Storybrooke she is the middle child between her sisters, her job is still TBD
Named Alissa as it means Wanderer, and Priscilla's place of power is the open road
Tumblr media
Corrina Mills | Persephone in Rite Of Spring: Regina & Zelena's younger half sister, named after her mother Cora. She is Persephone in the Enchanted Forest and in Storybrooke she's Corrina Mills, Regina's younger sister and the only person who can leave Storybrooke without any issue but she either always finds herself returning without meaning to or she forgets about Storybrooke when she's out of the bubble and forgets about the "real world" when she's in Storybrooke. Her father is Rumplestiltskin, and she is most likely going to be shipped with Graham
Named Corrina both for her mother, Cora, and because it's a variation of Kore, which is another name for Persephone
Tumblr media
Dove Thorn | Robin Page in Dear Reader: The youngest of the Page/Thorn sisters. In the Enchanted Forest she is Robin Page (from the Fables comics), and in Storybrooke she is Dove Thorn, Alissa & Evelyn's younger sister who works somewhere in the Sheriff's Department.
Named Dove as it is a type of bird, like Robin
Tumblr media
Eilwony in Rabbit Heart: Eilwony from the Black Cauldron. She was a captive to Regina in the Enchanted Forest and is still captive through the curse. Because of being in Regina's castle, she was not affected by the curse and has kept all of her memories, but she can't escape or do anything with that knowledge until Henry Mills finds her and helps to rescue her. Daughter of a magic user, but I haven't decided which one yet.
(name does not change as she does not have a Storybrooke version of herself)
Tumblr media
Evelyn Thorn | Hillary Page in Dear Reader: The oldest Thorn sister, she's Hillary Page (from the Fables comics) in the Enchanted Forest. In Storybrooke she's Evelyn Thorn, who "recently" took over her mother's job as the elementary school librarian.
Named Evelyn after the most iconic librarian around, Evelyn O'Connell from The Mummy
Tumblr media
Mirella Gold | Christine Daae in Once Upon A Song: Christine Daae (Phantom Of The Opera) in the Enchanted Forest, Rumplestiltskin takes on the role of her phantom in many ways. In Storybrooke she is Mirella Gold, who works as a personal assistant (tbd to who) but dreams of becoming a songwriter. She is raised by Mr Gold, but I haven't decided yet if she knows that she's adopted or believes that he's her father. Might be shipped with Graham.
Named Mirella after Mirella Freni, considered one of the best opera singers of all time
(in my heart, @the-witching-ash's Adelaide | Anastasia is her music teacher 🥺 )
Tumblr media
Nieva in Eatnamen Vuelie: Nieva is Elsa's daughter, who Elsa does not know exists, and sadly that's all that I know so far!
Named Nieva as it means Snow, her name does not change as she does not have a Storybrooke version of herself
Tumblr media
Paige Thorn | Prose Page in Dear Reader: Prose Page (from the Fables comics) in the Enchanted Forest. In Storybrooke she is Paige Thorn, English teacher turned school librarian who "recently" quit her job to open her own bookstore, leaving her eldest daughter to become the new librarian.
Named Paige as a pun on Prose Page's last name
Tumblr media
Sadie “Sugar” Monroe | Charlotte LaBouff in Sweet Nothing: Charlotte LaBouff in the Enchanted Forest. In Storybrooke she is Sadie Monroe (but everyone calls her Sugar), a pageant princess rich girl with a heart of gold. She is an event planner and organizes plenty of town events and fundraisers, and will be shipped with either Graham or David.
Named Sadie as it is a common Southern girl name and nicknamed Sugar because it is a common nickname in the South (both chosen as a nod to Charlotte LaBouff being a Southern Belle), last name Monroe as Lottie's design was inspired by Marilyn Monroe
Tumblr media
(ps thank you @ginevrastilinski-ocs for the help is naming Nieva and Sugar!)

Poison Ivy #9
Tumblr media
As I’ve said before the Poison Ivy series started off ever so rough (I’m still critical of some decisions particularly how they were presented) but, has grown. Literally. As this month it was also announced that Poison Ivy for the first time now has an ongoing comic series! Also, noteworthy the Poison Ivy series has also been nominated for Outstanding Comic Book this year by GLAAD. Issue #9 out this month sees Harley finally find Ivy.
From the beginning of this series, I was really hoping to eventually see Harley’s reaction to the letters Ivy sent her throughout issues 1-6. Because they were a tad less romantic and more low-key disturbing. Harley was in tears with the last letter and setting off to see Ivy in a previous issue. All she says once the two are face to face is she got the letters, with a bit of emphasis on that last word. Followed by Ivy instead thinking about a reason why the two are quick to pick up wherever they left off.
Tumblr media
I feel like I should also mention the main cover for #9 by Jessica Fong features Ivy feeding Harley a Fly Agaric mushroom which is rather amusing.
Tumblr media
It cracks me up how the Fly Agaric and subspecies is so iconic. Seemingly any time mushrooms are depicted the toadstool from fairy tales, put with scenes of witches, to traditional Christmas decorations. Culturally people may have some debate on what’s fit for consumption or not too, it’s relatively not the worst mushroom, but not edible. Harley being able to handle some level of toxicity because of Ivy was an idea introduced all the way back in their first comic book meeting. Maybe that applies here. As for the work on the interior art by Marcio Takara and Arif Prianto it remains top notch. Psychedelic perspectives and transformations, all the vivid colour choices, from dark horror to soft intimate moments. You want to hold each issue and pour over the pages because there is a lot to look at and follow.
Throughout the series there’s been points where the writing too has moments that shine and really hit, this latest issue including. But these stories for all the significant current matters brought up, (climate change, facing your abuser, class conflict, anti-capitalism, exposing the idolized girlboss, or touching on healthcare in the US), there have also tended to have aspects that undercut the themes. Such as Ivy in issue #4 taking on a predatory boss at basically an Amazon warehouse while still infecting workers and customers. Or what about in #2 the climate change take on the “This is Fine” meme yet as Ivy reconciled spreading deadly spores to all the people simply in a diner— including kids? That is the kind of thing the US lives daily as people must consider if while going about their lives at work or in any place they’re going to be harmed or die. Similarly, there is stretching suspension of disbelief in, for lack of a better term, last-minute pass situations. Particularly the last few issues. When the text literally calls for a miracle— it’s to the letter accurate.
Don’t get me wrong I’m excited for the success of this series. The first ongoing in a character’s history is a big deal. I love Poison Ivy. I’ve been buying each issue and plan to keep doing so. The variant covers by several artists are too astonishingly creative and beautiful. (I received a birthday present with the foil cover by Mindy Lee.) I don’t know if DC or the team behind this series aims for readers to be holding their breath with every issue. Yet rather than on the edge of my seat with anticipation, the Poison Ivy series is something uneasily still anxiety inducing.

Top 5 Clara outfits? And top 5 DW episodes you watch for comfort?
okay so the first question is very difficult but let me try my best (in no particular order):
the Time Heist suit unlocked a special level of gay in my teenage self
Tumblr media
the Magician's Apprentice/Witch's Familiar outfit is so iconic to me and the dress was the first screen-accurate Clara piece i ever got my hands on (still have it)
Tumblr media
the Zygon Invasion/Inversion outfit is iconic and even though we mostly saw Bonnie wear it, it's so fucking slay and that episode made me have very impure thoughts as a teenager so i'm including it
Tumblr media
this Time of the Doctor/Deep Breath slay is the quintessential Clara outfit for me tbh. it's so perfect i love it so much and it was the first outfit of hers that i cosplayed as a lil baby whovian 🫶
Tumblr media
aaaand i'll have to round it out with her little diner uniform from Hell Bent because it's precious and sparks joy 🫶
Tumblr media
honorable mentions for the Snowmen, Robot of Sherwood, Into the Dalek, and Listen 💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now onto your second question... bold of you to assume this show gives me comfort and not emotional damage (/j) but...
The Snowmen is my #1 of all time, i own it on DVD and i watch it several times a year. one time i watched it 5 times in the month of November alone. i can quote all of it from memory and it makes me happy stim even though it's so sad at the end 🫶
Vampires in Venice is just wholesome fun wrapped up in camp, i love vampires and fashion and the plot is absolutely ridiculous but it's so much fun to watch anyway
The Bells of St John is like a beam of serotonin directly into my brain, it is so cute and fun and sweet and silly and it's our Clara's first proper episode and it's a brilliant introduction to her character and my wifi password absolutely is rycbar123 thank you for asking
The Crimson Horror is on the list bc i love the one (1) episode per season where the Doctor and companion/s actually dress in period-accurate clothing, i love the aesthetics of the Victorian era and the mystery/horror aspects of the episode, we get to see the Paternoster Gang again, there's a disabled woman enacting vengeance on her abusers (🫶), and we get to hear Eleven's stupid little Yorkshire accent which always makes me smile
Robot of Sherwood because again, just silly fun and antics and period costumes and the indomitable human spirit and you asked about comfort so obviously they're mostly gonna be Clara eps despite how much i truly truly love the rest of the reboot i promise
in complete fairness, i didn't have access to watch the show for a good chunk of the last 5 years, so most of what i rewatched was the Clara era that we had taped on our TV, and i've only just recently been rewatching the entire reboot again for maybe the third time overall?? so my opinions are definitely coloured by how hard i fixated on the Clara era lmao
also THANK U FOR ASKING ME THESE QUESTIONS PAX I APPRECIATE U 🫶🫶🫶 sorry for how fucking long this post is!!!!!

Much analysis has been done on the Blair Witch Project. It really rocketed found footage to the mainstream in ways we really hadn’t seen before and wish we hadn’t seen before by the time the eleventh paranormal activity sequel rolled around. Yet in many ways the move has been buried in the hype.
The opening act is phenomenal, as is the atmosphere building the film does, but by the second half of act 2 the slow burn turns into a slow slog. If you already know the twist, understand the iconic last scene—something that pop culture has done a good job of communicating through memes and references— there’s less payoff for the whole thing. You could’ve easily chopped 4 minutes off the film and very little will have changed. It’s a lot of walking around, really.
The writing, performances, and overall execution of the film are impressive considering the lees-than-shoestring budget and amateur cast and crew. That’s really what it should be judged against, after all.
Highly suggest watching it at least one, preferably knowing as little about the end as possible. It’s a classic, an icon. It’s also boring, and clearly a film about making films, as the documentary’s second camera shows. It’s a fixture. Like a diner nobody will ever tear down, it’s just too precious to the community despite the health and safety regulations violations for high amounts of boredom, so you’ve got to at least Try the Blair witch burger. .

I haven’t been watching kdramas since last May and I’m excited to jump right in once the semester is over! Any recs for me? I’m looking for some happy/fluffy/wholesome dramas and some gripping/edge of my seat dramas
Welcome back to K-Dramas anon!
When you say LAST may, do you mean 2020? Or Last May like 6 months ago I'm going to assume you mean this year but if I'm wrong, definitely re-ask and I'll go further back!
Happy Fluffy K-Dramas May 2021 - now
Hometown Cha Cha Cha: wholesome slice of life with cute cute cute romance. There was a messy dating scandal with the leading man but I thought there was so much to offer in that drama that had nothing to do with him so I still recommend it.
Light on Me: One of my favorite korean BLs EVER! So sweet and fun.
Imitation: Cute and silly kpop drama about a failed idol group making a comeback. It wasn't popular but I thought it was super cute and really easy to watch.
My Roommate is a Gumiho: The leading ladies are FIRE okay? This show wasn't flawless but it was super fluffy and fun. Plus the kisses were amazing and I lived for the 2nd couple.
Dali and the Cocky Prince: The main couple of this drama is one of my favorite couples - they are ICONIC. Seriously funny, so soft, really beautiful...PERFECTION. The issue is that there are some really annoying family members but I loved the couple so much I just ignored them lol.
Yumi’s Cells: I almost didn’t add this one to the list because I think the cartoons are WAY overused, but I loved the live action parts of the the show. The two leads were really fun to watch, had amazing chemistry and really the ML was everything :) Fast-forward the cartoons - you won’t be missing much.
Tumblr media
Thriller/Crime/Mystery K-dramas May 2021-now
Sell Your Haunted House: This was one of my faves of the year! A bada*s goth hottie shaman gets rid of ghosts so that she can sell the houses. She gets a helper who she really does not want to work with but hey, that's what chemistry is made of!
The Great Shaman Go Do Shim: This cute web drama could have also been put in the fluffy section but it's got some ghosts and mysteries. High school kids come together to solve murders that keep happening at their school. AMAZING SOUNDTRACK.
The Witch’s Diner: Another short episode drama about a witch who grants wishes. It was fun and easy to watch but also had a bit of darkness.
Beyond Evil and Flower of Evil were both seriously amazing but you might have watched them because of when they were airing. If not, watch these two first!! The suspense, the mystery...SO GOOD!
I didn’t watch Vincenzo and I’ll bet a bunch of you are mad it wasn’t on my list so...here it is! I can’t vouch for it tho. :P
Enjoy!

2021 drama recap
With 2021 coming to an end, I thought that I would list the dramas that I’ve watched (and finished) this year, sharing my opinion and rating them in case someone is looking for dramas to watch.
Note: They are all Korean, except for Crush (Chinese) and Shadow and Bone (Western).
Nevertheless: 6/10
I know opinions vary on this one, but for me, the lack of background story we got about Jaeon, and the way it ended despite the whole message of the show (or what I’ve thought the message of the show was supposed to be) made me really disappointed, and by the last few episodes, I’ve only watched it for Dohyeok.
Love Alarm (S1-S2): 6.5/10
The first season would be a solid 8 because it was good for one watch, but the second season was way more disappointing than I would have thought so (and not because Jojo didn’t end up with the one I’ve rooted for). I like the closure (Jojo accepting herself and trying to overcome her trauma), but the whole second season could have been even shorter (in my opinion).
Crush (Chinese drama): 7/10
I would give a 10/10 for the first half of it, but the second half was rather disappointing for me as I felt like it kind of lost its charm. However, there was some really good acting in it, it had a unique plot, and it was pretty funny.
True Beauty: 7/10
It’s a comedy, I’m aware of it, but it was a bit too much at times for me, and I didn’t feel like we always touched upon the serious side of the heavy topics involved. Yet, it was funny and iconic, no one can deny that.
Be My Boyfriend: 7.5/10
This was better than I’ve expected, to be honest. It’s a simple high school & trainee life story, but the main guy is a lovable character, and I feel like the tension between the main female leads due to their trainee life and how they’ve ended up there is pretty realistic, also the way it affected their friendship. I think it had a pretty realistic ending too.
Shadow & Bone: 8/10
The only Western show I’ve watched this year. I’ve read one book in the two book series, so it was a bit confusing for me, but it had action, humour and mystery, so I loved it. Looking forward to the second season.
The Penthouse (S1-S3): 8/10
That was one hell of a show, sometimes in the best way, sometimes not. By the end of it, it felt a bit dragged, but if you keep it in mind that it has its own genre (that implies that literally anything can happen), you may not get that pissed off. However, lost of people die by the end, and not just the bad ones.
The Witch’s Diner: 8/10
I loved the twists and the different stories in this one. Not all of the side characters were interesting to me, but overall, it was a really good show in my opinion, and it had just enough episodes.
18 again: 8.5/10
It was a fun one with nice life lessons, but it didn’t always interest me that much. The acting was really good though!
Scripting your destiny: 9/10
A surprising gem that’s just enough for a drama. It was funny and lovely, not an outstanding drama, but I would watch it again.
Youth of May: 9/10
The feels! Yes, I’ve cried, and I still think Hwang Heetae is one of the best boys in the world. For me, it didn’t always feel like it had the right balance of comedy and drama, and we could have touched upon the outcome of the historical events in the finale episode more, but it was still very good.
Navillera: 10/10
One of the best shows I’ve ever watched. The struggles the characters face, the life lessons they learn and the relationshop that evolve are so touching and realistic. It didn’t feel dragged, and I’ve cried so much watching this, it was really heartwarming and also very funny.
Move to Heaven: 10/10
Solid 10/10. The characters, the feels, the acting (!), the life lessons, the touching stories and the unique plot. I really hope it’ll have a second season.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha: 10/10
No question about it. One of my fav shows ever. Everything was so on point, it was literally perfect.
The King’s Affection: 10/10
I was so looking forward to each episode because it was full of action, and the acting was amazing! Love the unique additions to it.

Bisexual Dean
9/12/20 - Is Dean canonically bisexual? That’s a fun question (it depends on where you live, I suppose). Anyway, nothing is stopping you from reading these beautiful fics involving a very bi main character.
Tabula Rasa by Dangerousnotbroken on AO3. (78,340 words).
Tags: Writer!Castiel, Bartender!Dean, Past Relationship, Magic, Canon Typical Violence, Mentions of Alcoholism, Mentions of Past Child Neglect, Mental Illness, Witches, Ghosts, Bisexual Dean, Bisexual Castiel, Angst, Slow Burn, Memory Loss.
My Rating: 5 stars.
Description: Once upon a time, Castiel Novak had everything. He had a happy home life, a full scholarship, and, if he played his cards right, a promising journalism career. And on top of all of that, he had Dean. Then tragedy struck, as it tends to do, and Castiel lost everything. At thirty six, he’s got none of those things. He’s got no family to speak of. He’s got a job investigating purportedly true tales of the supernatural for a magazine no one reads. And worst of all he hasn’t seen Dean in nearly twenty years. So when research for an article turns him on to a witch who apparently grants wishes in exchange for stories, Castiel figures it’s worth the risk. If making a deal with a witch can get him Dean back, what has he got to lose?
Notes: This was absolutely amazing; written beautifully, with a fantastic plot.
Take You To The Country by almaasi on AO3. (18,987 words).
Tags: Historical AU, Propositions, Eloping, Newspapers, Fluff, Forbidden Love, Misunderstandings, Pining, First Kiss, Established Relationship, Running Away Together, Moving In Together, Childhood Friends, Marriage Proposal, Businessman Dean, Farmer Dean, Emotional Dean, Bisexual Dean, Domestic Dean Winchester, Clockmaker Castiel, Autistic Castiel, Frustrated Sam.
My Rating: 5 stars.
Description: A Dean/Cas 1950s AU. Dean reads an elopement proposal in the town's local newspaper, written by some old soul in love with their best friend. He's mid-way through expressing to his brother how beautiful he finds it when Dean realises the proposal is for him.
Notes: I love Sam’s subsequent letters to the newspapers at the end, it was just a really good idea done really well.
A Little Slice Of Heaven by onamelancholyhill on AO3. (112,265 words).
Tags: Slow Build, Friends to Lovers, Falling in Love, POV Dean Winchester, POV Third Person, POV Castiel, Bakery and Coffee Shop AU, Episode: s4e17 It’s a Terrible Life, Alternate Universe - Human, Explicit Sexual Content, Bisexual Dean, Idiots in Love.
My Rating: 5 stars.
Description: Jim Morrison once said, “The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are.” That was Castiel Novak’s motto in life, and the reason why he accepted his grandmother's inheritance and took the responsibility it implied. Dean Winchester, a remarkable accountant at Sandover Bridge & Iron Inc., however, had other priorities. He lived to serve, hidden in a mask that didn’t allow him to be honest with himself, but lonesome and boring. When destiny made their paths cross, in a less than promising way, with Dean as the instigator and Castiel as his victim, Dean’s mind started wandering, in between pies and cakes, coffees and muffins... What if Mr. Morrison was right? After all, as the guy used to say, "there can’t be any large-scale revolution, until there’s a personal revolution first."
Notes: This was so cute and I adored the plot! It’s making me want to rewatch It’s A Terrible Life but I’ll live.
Just Like You by imherecauseimnotallthere98 on AO3. (35,717 words).
Tags: Homophobia, Homophobic John, Hurt Dean Winchester, Protective Dean Winchester, Established Relationship, Protective Castiel, BAMF Castiel, Protective Sam Winchester, Angry John, Angry Dean Winchester, Angry Sam Winchester, Protective Bobby Singer, Awesome Bobby, Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Scared Dean, John Being an Asshole, Swearing, Bisexual Dean, Pansexual Castiel, Past Child Abuse, Accidental Outing, Death Threats, Fluff and Angst, Implied Sexual Content, Sharing a Bed.
My Rating: 5 stars.
Description: When John shows up at their door in the middle of the night, the Winchesters and Cas start looking into who or what could have brought him back. Meanwhile, Dean struggles to keep his relationship with Cas a secret from his father, with some help from Sam. The tension rises between the Winchesters as Dean shows John that he is no longer the obedient little soldier he once was, and tries to establish himself as an equal with his dad.
Notes: Bobby and Sam are icons in this and should have followed through on their threats. That will be all.

Tags: John Winchester’s A+ Parenting, Angst, Pride, Marijuana Use, Polyamory, Gay Cas, Bisexual Dean, Bisexual Gabriel, Everyone is Queer.
My Rating: 4 stars.
Description: Boyfriend. The word still feels foreign in Dean’s mouth, still brings back echoes of John Winchester’s thinly-veiled (if even that) homophobia. "Man up, don’t be a sissy, I didn’t raise a fairy". It’s a swollen blister in the back of Dean’s mind, throbbing with pain whenever a stranger’s eyes linger too long on Cas’ hand in his, whenever a waitress double-takes at how close they sit in diner booths. But here, dirty dancing with Cas in a warehouse full of other queer folks, Dean wants to shout from the rooftops- I’m Dean Winchester, I drive the baddest car in town, I lift heavy things for a living, and this is my boyfriend.
Notes: This was so sweet it nearly made me start crying - Cas deserved to be told that he was loved!
Bottom’s Up by mnwood on AO3. (28,103 words).
Tags: Fluff and Crack, Wing Kink, Domestic, Smut, Bisexual Dean, Resolved Sexual Tension, Established Relationship, Wedding Planning, Partying, Weddings.
My Rating: 4 stars.
Description: Sam could’ve kissed them both when he got to the bunker one day to find a string of clothing (his heart nearly burst with hope when he saw the abandoned flannel and trench coat) leading to a very naked pile of limbs tangled on the couch. Just kidding. Of course it wasn’t the couch. Sam always imagined it as the couch because the fact that he actually found them on the dining room table had tainted the happiness of the memory.
Notes: Jesus, I did not need that level of detail into Dean and Cas’ sex life (but it was very funny).
Stories Are Made Of Mistakes by wildhoneypie on AO3. (4,942 words).
Tags: Human Castiel, Diners, Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Bisexual Dean, Sharing a Bed, Slow Burn, Slow Build, Case Fic, Domestic, Didn’t Know They Were Dating.
My Rating: 4 stars.
Description: In which Cas is human and doesn’t understand basic concepts like: clothing, Mythbusters, moisturizer, and Greek food. Dean is…Dean and doesn’t understand basic concepts like: boyfriends, language, how to tell your friend that he’s a walking miracle, and when not to quip.
Notes: This was so cute and I live for human Cas. I also love the recurring ‘no fucking quipping’ joke in this, although the idea of Cas swearing broke me a bit!
And this one, which has no Destiel content but a very bi Dean:
Uniform of a Winchester by monsterfuckerdean on AO3. (20,591 words).
Tags:  Canon Compliant, Missing Scene, Bisexual Dean Winchester, Bad Parent John Winchester, Young Sam Winchester, Young Dean Winchester, Pre-Season 1, Episode: s5e2 Free to Be You and Me, Angst and Feels, Queer Themes, Character Study, Diners, Sibling Love, Family, Friendship, HBO SPN.
My Rating: 5 stars.
Description: We all know the story of the amulet Dean wears around his neck. But what about everything else he wears?
Notes: Okay, I have to admit that I am loving the HBO SPN vibes even though I am fully aware that if it was a real show I wouldn’t watch it. This is so good though, and the writing is gorgeous!
My friend came out to me as bisexual this week, and paired with the mess that is the Spanish dub, I thought this would be nice as a little reminder that it doesn’t matter how the show ended, because the fans will always be here and we will always be supportive. Anyway, enjoy!

For anyone wanting a distraction...
Bury yourself in fic! I’ve been rereading my favorite long (10k+ words), completed Bughead fics in my two favorite genres: mystery and scifi/fantasy. Please feel free to add any I missed.
LONG MYSTERY FICS
1. Teenage Talk by DarlingDearestDead
A classic, Betty and Jughead reunite at their 10 year reunion for the most romantic of reasons- to solve a murder.

Like your noir a bit more modern? Detective Jones solves a murder at Pop’s diner while all the suspects are locked inside.
4. The Final Girl and the Thaw by ThePointOfTheNeedle
Betty’s the detective here. Something’s rotten in the St. Clair family, and she’ll figure it out once she figures out the mysterious (but hot) stranger hanging around her job.
5. Death of the Author by @happilyshanghaied
Betty the FBI agent learns that the worst time to reconnect with your one-night stand is when you’re responsible for keeping him from being murdered. Or is it the best time?
6. Degrees by @mistressofmalplaquet
In a strange, almost post-apocalyptic world, Jughead knows there’s something strange about the new girl and won’t stop until he figures it out.
7. Snakes and Crowns by @cooperandjonesinc
Betty would have the murder of Clifford Blossom all figured out if she didn’t have to deal with her sudden, unwanted soul-bond.
8. Born Losers by @sylwrites
Two writers who don’t like each other but love investigative journalism are thrown together both by their friends and some hot tips from Betty’s investigative news beat.
Bonus amazing WIPs (that have been updated recently):
A Revelation in the Light of Day by @iconic-ponytail
Sheriff!Jughead and (redacted)!Betty try to solve an old murder that Betty may or may not be tangled up in.
Three Wise Monkeys by Meditationonbaal
I just started this one and I’m obsessed. 1980s magical realism at a prep school full of secrets, taking bits from every season of canon.
LONG SCI-FI/FANTASY FICS
1. The Space Between Us by @mistressofmalplaquet
Meta-aware comicverse Jughead and Betty are suddenly thrust into Riverdale and have to figure out how to survive in a strange world.

3. Glass Darkly by @writeradamanteve Jughead knows something is wrong with his life but doesn’t figure it out until he meets the ghost in the mirror.
(also check out ‘Wicked‘[Witch!Betty and Slayer!Jughead], and the entire Cowboy Jones series [Space bounty hunters!] from the same author)
4. Hearts Desire by @lovedinapastlife A lonely djinn finds herself captivated by a human boy. This fic made me happy-cry for fictional characters.

I put it off for so long. But now I’m all caught up. And I hate this show more than ever.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x13:
Donuts for breakfast? No wonder you have nothing of substance in your head.
The morning tryst is fine, but realistically, who shows up at school that early before the bell rings?
“These stonies” ARE YOU KIDDING? Jughead is supposed to be a writer and this is the dialogue the show writers are giving him?
Wait, so is Betty just going to sit there and watch him write?
Ah, yes, Toni Topaz, still losing personality with every passing episode.
Jarhead and Bison. Oh, OKAY.
I told you not to accept that laptop from Bret without question!
The random shot of equipment in the chem lab, like why even bother, as if Archie could pass a science class.
This show has gone so far off the rails I don’t even really know why Veronica is spiraling.
Is it really worth dealing with Stonewall Prep for this shit? Was I ever supposed to believe that any of these people would truly be able to get into an Ivy? Just gtfo of Riverdale. Go to a SUNY campus.
The Betty/Donna diner scene is shot really beautifully, at least.
Ah, yes, Bret, the ultimate creep.
Jughead’s hair looks so much better sticking out of the beanie than completely tucked in.
Aw, a scene with the Bughead background music. Haven’t heard that in a while.
As if the core four could have fun at a Stonewall party. Should have listened to Archie, should have stayed home.
So does Jughead stage his disappearance and death now?
How can Bret be talking like that that when he’s wearing THAT
A summary of my live reactions for 4x14:
Jughead is not allowed to call his own beanie iconic
So three teenagers just walk into their houses at 3 AM in their underwear? This is like a setup for a comedy routine.
“Jughead couldn’t just lend you one of his grungy flannels” LOL see now this is the content we came for
Charles? You would trust Charles with this ploy?
So your boyfriend/friend is “dead” and all signs lead back to you so you’re having an open discussion in the diner?
Man, Penny Peabody and Evelyn Evernever as the ultimate supervillain duo would be so good.
DON’T KILL YOURSELF, ELMO. Who writes this shit?
If Betty is going to be saying incriminating things on the phone, shouldn’t they all be using burner phones?
How can this supposedly squeaky clean FBI agent be so casual about a murder weapon out in the open? This whole subplot is so dumb.
To be fair, Veronica, you ARE running an illegal underground liquor operation.
The stonies have definitely drugged several people.
Donna’s shirt is really nice though.
Jughead’s “body”. Hmm okay.
An oversized Sherpa jacket suits Betty. But the owner ain’t dead.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x15:
Lol Cheryl getting involved in this non-murder coverup would complicate things.
And, what, FP just believes Donna? Pshhh. More scheming.
Here we go with Alice, continuing to be the worst parent on television.
Meanwhile Jughead is chomping down on snacks in the bunker in the woods while writing ten more manuscripts.
Oh, COME ON. Toni and Jughead were BARELY friends. Just common gang members.
!!!!A WILD SWEET PEA APPEARS!!!!
OMG AND BETTY JUST TALKED HIM OUT OF RAGE. GIVE ME SWEETBEE FRIENDSHIP OR GIVE ME (UNSTAGED) DEATH!
Who even cares what else happens when Sweet Pea is here! I just wish there was explanation for where he’s been this whole time!
omg Sweet Pea is the best. Please just write an alternate storyline where he is the star of the show.
We all know super detectives Jones and Cooper planned this out properly, they wouldn’t skimp on the details!
Wait, did Cheryl have the students make a mock beanie for that locker memorial?
Okay…Betty and Archie would probably sell this better if the actors didn’t look grossed out by each other while kissing.
Veronica, on the other hand, is overselling it.
Betty made Juggie a new beanie THIS IS SO KAWAII
Wait, is this really how the writers are setting up Barchie? They’re supposed to catch feelings this way?
Lol solving a murder by milkshake evidence.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x16:
I hope someone got Jughead some Flintstones multivitamins to account for the loss of Vitamin D due to lack of sun!
So basically what you’re telling me is that everyone who matters in Riverdale is in on Jughead’s “death”
This reveal scene in the parlor must be the longest scene in Riverdale history. It’s refreshing to get an episode that isn’t the usual 45 second clips spliced together over 40 minutes.
Three Forsythes in one room!
Interesting that they have to keep saying Tracy True and not refer to Nancy Drew when Nancy Drew is also a show that airs on the CW
As we live and breathe, Jughead Jones walking the halls of Riverdale High.
Lol wait so Jughead went from provisionally accepted to Yale to probably not graduating? I hate this show.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x17:
Cole/Jughead gets the first singing line in the musical? What is this bullshit?
Sweet Pea makes another appearance!! With cutoff sleeves!!
I get that the Salem Witch Trials is on brand for Jughead, but I would have chosen the Trail of Tears essay given the Serpents connection to the Uktena, but no one even remembers that, I’m sure.
SWEET PEA IS PLAYING BASS (I always thought he would be a drummer though)
Wait…they’re just running from room to room in different people’s houses? Just because it’s a musical doesn’t mean you can keep violating the time-space continuum!
Okay, Cole/Jughead singing is the funniest thing to ever happen on this show.
And all this on the musical episode just to set up Barchie?
So after four seasons Betty and Archie are finally supposed to remember why they were so “close” to begin with?
Who thought it would be a good idea to build Betty and Archie up into these thoughtful, concerned, characters and then completely ruin them this way? That’s predictable and so unfair to them.
Cutting back to the pilot and season 1 Betty and Archie and comparing it to now really just underlines why Barchie didn’t become a thing. That should be pretty obvious.
Also, Sweet Pea is not only in the front row, but enamored by this?
A summary of my live reactions for 4x18:
When did Reggie get an accent?
LOL WHAT so are Barchie laying shoulder to shoulder contemplating if they’re going to get it on?
Ugh. Let me guess. Ethel is only appearing in this episode to be villainized. And there go all my SweetE/Swethel dreams.
WHAT DID I JUST SAY.
Oh, NOW, you can’t stop thinking about Betty? Two years too late, Arch.
Cheryl saying something of value for once?? Who are you and what have you done with Cheryl Blossom?
I just want to live in a world where SweetE is canon. Lol what am I saying, canon writing would ruin SweetE.
Someone tell the set designers that it’s poor science practice to leave empty glassware just out on bench tops.
Principal Honey isn’t going to expel them?
Fangs got into a university with a scholarship? Riiiiight.
Okay, so all that Barchie setup for will they or won’t they to settle on they won’t. So basically just a waste of time? Can the writers just stop trying to resurrect that once every season? It’s a minor annoyance that adds nothing.
Yeah, nope, Daddy will never change, Veronica.

Breaking Legs, Crushing Dreams
Witches, haunted opera houses, small-town diners, the founding fathers, and a magical Scottish town. These unusual topics are dazzling Broadway musicals loved by thousands. Musicals are a brilliant show of song, dance, and story that almost everyone can relate to. Every theatre kid has a role they would do anything to play. Unfortunately, casting bias based on race, gender, or sexuality, could make it difficult . In the past, most characters could be played by straight, white, cisgender actors. In today’s theatre world, that is being challenged. Why should there be a “basic” type of actor, and why should they get all of the parts? When people see themselves represented, it matters. It is especially important in youth development. Casting people of color, LGBTQ+ actors, and gender swapping, can change lives. A recent challenge to the status quo is the historical hip-hop musical, Hamilton. Casting a black man as George Washington, an Asian woman as Eliza Hamilton, and a Puerto Rican man as Alexander Hamilton himself, shocked audiences everywhere and opened up eyes to the possibilities of casting shows.
Ten years ago, a black man playing George Washington was unheard of. Why did modern day genius, Lin-Manuel Miranda, decide to challenge that? To tell “...the story of America then, told by America now.” What exactly does that mean though? Miranda wanted to tell the almost unbelievable story of America’s creation. But he wanted to tell it through the mouths of the immigrants the country was built on (Quiñónez). The founding fathers were young, rebellious, and brave. They went against their king to fight for freedom and justice for all, but to them, “all” was all white men. Through Hamilton, the people left out of  “all men were created equal” get a chance to tell the story. The good, the bad, and everything inbewtween. Black men get to tell the story of soldiers fighting for the abolition of slavery, Latinx, Asian, and Black women have the opportunity to pay respects to some of the first feminists, and continue to spread the message of equality to the next generation.
The characters in Hamilton are all based on real people. Because of this, there is debate about whether there should be a line between fantasy and reality in casting. A popular example is Wicked. The story takes place before the events in The Wizard of Oz and includes many of the same characters. Wicked has been on Broadway for 16 years. This year, the first woman of color portrayed the deuteragonist, Glinda. Why did it take so long for this to happen? It’s unlikely that is was malicious. The casting directors did not sit in their offices and throw every woman of color’s headshot in the garbage. It is also quite unlikely that it was completely by chance. The reason was most likely somewhere in the middle. In 2003, Kristin Chenoweth originated the role of Glinda. Chenoweth is tiny, blonde, and white. This description was used in casting every Glinda after her, and very rarely changed. As stated in the Wicked Wiki page, there have been 32 Glindas on Broadway. 32, and only one was a woman of color. So when it did change, people noticed. Brittney Johnson made history in January 2019. She became the first woman of color to play Glinda on Broadway. She made headlines in the theatre community, and made hearts swell, as she gushed about how much it meant to be playing the character. In an Instagram post, the actress told about her excitement, “My hope and prayer is that people see my story and have faith that they can achieve their dreams too. Nothing is impossible! And no dream is too big.” The dream she speaks of, is crashing through the stigma of a white woman playing a beloved character. Through this, she shows kids, adults, and everyone in between, that they too can bring a character to life.
Aside from race, there are several other factors that could cause someone to not get a role in a show. Gender is a debated trait in modern theatre. Should characters be able to be gender swapped? Most argue that there are some roles that can be gender swapped, and some that cannot. And some believe that all characters should be cast as written. A recent example of gender swapping in a professional role is the character Old Joe in Waitress. Up until late 2018, the role was for a man, and played by one. In December 2018, the writers and directors decided to change that. When beloved actress June Squibb came to see the show, the creative team got an idea. They immediately decided to change the role to Old Josie, and cast Squibb in the part. “In this moment of time, it seems like a wonderful brush stroke to make the owner a woman-a strong, savvy business woman who is trying to help another woman find her footing.” says book writer, Jessie Nelson. Old Josie was loved by audiences and actors everywhere. But would the same love go to other characters?
In the recent past, I acted in a production of  The Little Mermaid. A friend of mine tried out for Ursula, and had a shot at the role, except that this friend is a boy. He has the vocal range, the acting skills, and everything else necessary to play the character. But unfortunately, he wasn’t considered for the role. There are a lot of possible reasons for this. The conservative town, the young audience, or the views of the casting team, but it all comes down to the same reason. Our brains are trained to think that boys should play boys and girls should play girls. But is that even a factor here? The casting of mythical creatures has always been interesting to me. They’re fake, so there’s no reason for people to put any restrictions on who can play them.
Religion is another casting factor in theatre. Most of the characters in the famous show, The Fiddler on the Roof are Jewish. Does this mean they should only be played by those of Jewish faith? In most cases, religion isn’t an issue in casting. But when it comes to religions that have been discriminated against, there are arguments. Religions such as Islam, Judaism, and Hinduism are the most argued about. Because the people of these religions have been treated so poorly and given so little chance to be represented, when a character identifies as one of them, it’s important. Some argue that a person not of these religions should not play characters that are, because the young people of the religion deserve to see someone like them, playing someone like them. This is especially important for hijabi characters. Women who wear the traditional headdresses are tormented in public, have their hijabs ripped off, and are mocked and laughed at for their choice. So to put a random actress in a hijab for a show, seems wrong to those who undergo the discrimination every day.
Although America is supposed to be a haven for people of all backgrounds, racism is still a frequent issue. The iconic retelling of star crossed lovers, West Side Story, has been subject to a lot of whitewashing. To whitewash is to cast a white actor in a person of color’s role. In the 1961 film version of the show, the lead female character, Maria, a Puerto Rican girl, is played by Natalie Wood, a Russian woman. This casting, though common in it’s time, was offensive to the entire Latin community. Essentially telling them that their actresses were not good enough to play the character. However, the show is getting another chance. Set to be released in 2020, Steven Speilberg’s remake of West Side Story stars Rachel Zegler, a Colombian teenager, ready to take on the world as Maria. Zegler has spoken out several times about how important representation is. Millions of fans are awaiting seeing a true Latin Maria on the silver screen.
Sexuality is becoming a more and more important factor in casting every day. Recently, the Tony winning show, The Prom, has been in talks to become a movie. The show centers around two girls who want to go to prom together as a couple, but the school administration shuts down the prom in retaliation. Young queer kids everywhere were thrilled when the movie was announced. They were less thrilled when the casting possibilities were announced. When it was announced that Ariana Grande would be playing the main character, Alyssa Greene, fans were not happy. In the Broadway show, Alyssa was played by a queer woman of color, and as far as we know, Grande is neither. Casting LGBTQ+ actors as LGBTQ+ characters is extremely important to the audience. If a character is “straight-washed” it takes away part of the identity the original actor brought to the stage. It also takes a role from an actor that could play it with more honesty, emotion, and feeling, because they have shared experiences with the character.
Kelli Jolly has been involved in theatre for a long time. From growing up a dancer and actress, to choreographing shows, to becoming the president of a theatre organization, she pretty much lives and breathes it. When asked how casting has changed in her time in the theatre, Jolly said that it has changed a lot. “Directors are casting in creative ways to bring a story to life in a different way than the story has been portrayed in the past. It is exciting to watch different versions of the same play or musical with non-traditional casting.” Those like Jolly, who have theatre in every part of their lives, are excited to see change and creativity in shows. They are also excited to watch what the new generation of actors tell the same stories, in a whole new way. A group of 16 actors, directors, and stage managers were asked if (aside from characters that are written with a specific race, sexuality, or religious belief) casting should be blind, and 94% said yes. The world is changing, and theatre is changing with it.
Casting should be based on talent first. Casting an actor that does not deserve the role is wrong, no matter their race, gender, or religion. Characters can and should morph as the times change. Aiming to be more inclusive and to better represent the world around them. But if a character is a certain way for a reason, the actor should reflect that. Seeing yourself represented in media is important. Having diverse actors can help make that a reality for more people.

It's been a hot minute since I wrote more headcanons so here
In the city, if someone escapes/is terminated and has children, the children will be given to a suitable, artificial parental unit (think Grace from umbrella academy)
The Girl never named her cat but the ultra Vs started calling her The Cat because it makes sense
There are almost never crows in the zones, but if there is, it's seen as a sign that something either very very good or very very bad is about to happen
If you see party poison and he's crying you'd better fucking run in the other direction because you are DEAD. MEAT. The only people he cries around is kobra and occasionally ghoul, though the latter is usually accidental (pois cries a lot more than he'd like to admit.)
Fun Ghoul's way of showing affection is usually through non-serious insults. If he likes you, he'll assign you a stupid insult right off the bat. Pois's is pissbaby.
Halloween in the zones is not dissimilar to Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead. The phoenix witch lets zone ghosts wander for 24 hours, though no one can see them, and it's a tradition to leave a bit of food or a special item in the Mailbox so the ghosts can retrieve them.
That being said, in Battery City Halloween is banned entirely due to creativity being involved, although candy still goes on sale for the whole month of October, meaning they're much more easily accessible for angel cakes
Show Pony keeps candy somewhere in the diner and the fab four KNOW it's in there somewhere but they have turned the place upside down so many times looking for it and yet it never shows itself. Show Pony will never tell anyone.
There's a wedding ring glued to the front of the Mailbox. Nobody knows whose it is or why it's there, but it's pretty iconic. If you mention The Wedding Ring in a conversation, most killjoys will know what you're talking about.
The only time the rest of the fab four have seen fun ghoul cry hard was when kobra kid accidentally broke his first ever Mad Gear and Missile Kid record. (Their relationship has been a little rocky ever since, although Ghoul did eventually get it replaced.)
Another thing on the mailbox that is a complete mystery is a vinyl record glued to the underside. Multiple people have taken it off and tried playing it, but all it plays is a single piano note and nothing else.
One of the most popular memes in the zones is the case of an anonymous killjoy who interrupted a Mad Gear and Missile Kid concert by climbing on the stage and eating a whole bath bomb on stage while everyone watched. It was incredible. The identity of the killjoy is still unknown but most know him as Bath Bomb Kid.

Interview: Tom Atkins (Trick, Halloween III)
Tumblr media
Genre icon Tom Atkins spoke with me about his new horror film, Trick, which will be released in select theaters and on Digital this Friday, October 18, via RLJE Films. We also discuss the change in public opinion of Halloween III: Season of the Witch, his role in the scrapped Halloween 3D, and working with filmmakers like John Carpenter, George A. Romero, and Richard Donner.
Tumblr media
Can you begin by telling us how you got involved with Trick and what attracted you to the project?
Patrick Lussier [director/co-writer] attracted me to the project, as well as the part. Trick is the third film I've worked on with Patrick. My Bloody Valentine 3D was the first. I played a sheriff who had my face ripped off and died a terrible death at the hands of the miner. The second one was Drive Angry, which we shot down in Shreveport, Louisiana with Nic Cage. I lived through that one!
We had a wonderful time doing Trick. I play Talbott, this town curmudgeon; an angry, old man. I run the town diner and a movie festival at Halloween time. It was going to be a drive-in, but it turned out to be the interior of a church, because weather intervened and made it impossible. I love the character. He adores the kids of the town even though he would never admit that. He certainly doesn't show it, but at the end he's trying to protect them from the evil, chasing the guy with his shotgun in the church.
He's a terrific character, and Patrick said that he and Todd [Farmer, co-writer] would like to have me in everything they do, so I'm looking forward to the next one. He assured me that I will live through the entire film! [laughs]

You've worked with such influential filmmakers as John Carpenter, George Romero, and Richard Donner, to name a few. How does working with Patrick Lussier compare?
You know, my personal favorite film that I made was Night of the Creeps directed by Fred Dekker back in 1986. And Shout Factory just came out with an action figure of [my character] Detective Ray Cameron from Night of the Creeps all these years later. I found that astounding! I love Fred, and I love Patrick. I feel like I'm with my brother when I'm with Patrick or Fred. I think they're both wonderful directors. I think the years that Patrick spent as an editor for Wes Craven certainly helped make him the fine director that he is.
I really enjoyed doing the films with John [Carpenter]; The Fog and Escape from New York, and he produced Halloween III. George Romero, oh, my God. He was a dear, dear friend. I'd known him since the '60s. I miss him. He was a wonderful guy. He was like a big, old bear. He loved to give hugs and talk about what we were doing, how he was going to attack a certain scene or sequence in a film. He was a terrific guy.

Donner I like to think of as an old-fashioned Hollywood director - in the best sense of the word. He would have screenings of the [Lethal Weapon] dailies for the week every Friday. There was always food, champagne, cocktails, beer, wine; whatever your preference. Everybody was welcome.
I got a kick out of him when we were shooting the sequence where Gary Busey shot me from the helicopter through my French door, in my back and out my stomach, in my eggnog and out my eggnog. He was out front on the street talking to the neighbors that had all gathered around. He said, "This is what we're gonna do. We've got this actor in there. We're gonna shoot him from a helicopter over the back cliff. What do you think? Do you think it'll work? Is it a good idea?" And they would say whether they thought it was or wasn't, and he really listened to them as if he might change his mind and do it differently if they came up with a better way! [laughs]
I thought he was a wonderful guy and that he was so open to everything. Like Patrick, he was steeped in the history of it. He was an old-fashioned director, and he had done a lot of films and TV. I thought he did a wonderful job. I'm biased; I like the first Lethal Weapon better than the rest of them, because I was dead and couldn't be in any of the others. [laughs]

Trick isn't your first Halloween-themed horror movie; as you mentioned, you starred in Halloween III: Season of the Witch. How has it been to see the public opinion shift on that movie over the years?
I loved making Halloween III. I really enjoyed it. It was John Carpenter's intention to make an anthology of Halloween movies; to make a different Halloween movie every Halloween. The money guys at the studio said, "Well, you already have this one ready to go, and we'll do it, but you have to put Halloween in the title. It can be subtitled Season of the Witch, but it has to have the franchise, Halloween, up above."
A lot of people were unhappy when it came out. They saw Halloween and thought Michael Myers would be in it. I love, though, the way that the audience has just grown and grown and grown. I have so many people come to me now and say, "Halloween III is my favorite Halloween movie. I just love watching that one!" It's different than the others, and it stands on its own. It's a really good film.

You were also going to be in Lussier's Halloween 3D before it was scrapped. What do you recall about that one?
When we were working on My Bloody Valentine 3D, he sent me a script of his version of Halloween 3, which was a continuation of the Rob Zombie storyline. I was going to play a really demented shrink who was taking care of Laurie [Strode] in a psychiatric hospital. I was their doctor, and I was up to no good. [laughs] I certainly wasn't going to do them any good. In the script, I ended up being killed by ol' Michael Myers.
I guess Drive Angry didn't do well at the box office, and they took it away from Patrick, and nobody did it. Answer me this: why am I not in the new Halloween with Jamie Lee [Curtis]?
They have a lot of the old cast members coming back! I'd love to see you return.
They do! My dear pal, Chuck Cyphers, is going to be in [Halloween Kills]. I think he's going to be the sheriff again. That's what he was in the originals. He's going to be in it, and Nancy Stephens too. We'll see. There's always a chance!
