Preparing for Conventions
Tumblr media
What events are best to go to?
Whether it’s a huge celebrity-studded multi-day weekend or a small gathering at a local library, in-person events are an exciting way to reach all kinds of comic fans that may not be in any of your circles online. There’s opportunities to be had at almost every type of event, but a few things that might narrow your focus:
Tumblr media
Events that don’t cost more than you think you can make. Convention costs can add up extremely quickly. You can expect to pay at least $100/day for an artist table at mid-sized or large conventions. If you’re just starting out, prioritize conventions that are close enough to your home (or friends/family who will host you) that you won’t have to pay for a hotel or spend a lot in transportation costs.  Splitting the table with another artist is another option!
Events that other artists in your area/genre recommend. A great way to learn about events in your area is to attend one and ask others what conventions they like in the area. Some regular artists even maintain online groups to discuss application deadlines and share experiences.  Depending on the genre of your art or comic, you might also find adjacent things like horror shows, anime shows, or zine fests worth exploring too!
Events that you can actually get into. Conventions can be very competitive to get into, and have very small application windows months in advance. Once you’ve identified which conventions are in your area, follow their Twitter, mailing lists or websites to catch their sign up deadlines. Juried shows may also ask for a link to your portfolio, author bio or store to get an idea of who you are and what you’d be selling, so be sure to put something together and be ready!
What kinds of products should I prepare?
Our Masterlist of Printers is a great place to start for recommendations about places to make your products and inspiration! But to cut down on costs and keep yourself flexible while you figure things out, it’s a good idea to focus on:
Tumblr media
Products that suit a specific style and taste.  Do you make big intricate illustrations that would look good as 11x17 printed art? Are you good with quippy one-liners that would make fun stickers? Is there a popular fandom that you like that has a similar genre to your other work?  Popular products are prints, stickers, charms, pins, and comics. But don’t be afraid to handcraft figures or something else.
Products that work together. Be deliberate about the vibe you’re setting, whether that’s a genre (horror, humor, superheroes, etc.), an age range (all ages, adult), a specific type of product (mostly t-shirts, mostly prints, accessories), a theme (eg, all things coffee!).  There’s a lot of approaches to making a cohesive product line and organizing your table to keep like things together, but having cute plushies AND saucy pinups AND anime figurines AND coffee mugs can be confusing to customers who are trying to figure out what your table is all about.
Products with low price points that won’t be too expensive to make. Products priced $15 or lower are generally an easy buy for new customers, and offering a range of small inexpensive things is great for folks who are on a budget but still want to support you. When you’re just starting, look for things that don’t require a high amount of money to produce for you or can print in low quantities with a printer.  Printed-at-home or handcrafted things are also possibilities for a more zine-style table presence and can save you a little money.
Products with a low minimum order quantity. Try not to order more than 10 or so copies of any one thing (especially anything that a stranger wouldn’t recognize like OC) until you’re confident it will sell. You can always order more after the show if you run out.  If you DO have leftover stock (and 99% of the time you will), you definitely can sell it at a future convention, a crowdfunding campaign, include it as Patreon rewards, or list it in an online store. But being stuck with a closet full of 500 postcard prints that you can’t sell is not a fun time, even if you DID get a bulk discount.
Products that have a general appeal. Even if you have a massive social media following, 99% of your customers will have never heard of your comic or your original characters. Comic enthusiasts will often be open to giving a new story from a local artist a chance if you chat them up a little and tell them about it. But also having general interest products (animals, fanart, nerd humor, mythology) on the table that don’t require as much explanation to enjoy is a very good idea.
What do I need other than merch?
A good convention setup looks clean, organized, and easy to engage with.  Once you’re accepted, look carefully at the details of the convention and what’s included with your space.  Many conventions will give you a table and chair, but you’ll probably also need:
Tumblr media
Backdrop - Backdrops display your best art and help people see it from across a crowded room, and partition your space if you’re very close to other tables.  A photo backdrop stand with a bunch of 11x17/A3 prints taped together that you’re selling, a wire cube grid construction you can set on your table and stick smaller merch pieces to, or a professionally-printed banner with your name, URL/social handle, and your best art and are all solid options for this.
Where to get them: Google “photo backdrop” or look for photography supply stores. Google “wire cube grids” or look around hardware stores or Walmart/Target.  For banners, you can find printers that can make retractable banners or vinyl banners to hang from a photo backdrop.
8-foot Tablecloth - Many conventions assign you a very weathered 6-foot table, so always plan on having something to cover it (optionally for multi-day shows, a second to cover your setup for security purposes when you leave your table.)
Where to get them: Fabric stores, bedsheets, party stores.
Displays - Flat items on a table are invisible to anyone who isn’t directly in front of you, so look for a way to make your stuff stand up and be seen! Easel stands to highlight featured books or art, cork boards and pins you can prop up, boxes or porfolio books to flip through, wire/wooden racks to hold lots of books are all great ideas to consider, depending on your products.
Where to get them: For heavy-duty stuff, you’ll probably want to Google around order displays online. Art supply stores will often have easels and portfolios. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money yet, dollar stores can be a gold mine of quick solutions too!
Price Signage - Having clear pricing on your table helps people decide what to buy without having to ask you about every product. Print your own signs at home, bring colorful post-its, or some stiff paper, markers, and tape. You can also use a white board or chalk board to make a “menu” style price list.
Where to get them: Office supply stores, Target/Walmart.
The ability to take money from people - A secure place that’s accessible to you to keep money for making change. Cashbox theft can unfortunately be an issue sometimes, so wearable pouches or discreet envelopes that don’t immediately look like money are better in this context. If you have a cellphone or tablet, you can also get an app where you can list your products and connect an attachment to swipe or tap credit cards for a small fee.  (Note wi-fi and power are not dependable in many venues, so be sure to have a charger and a good data plan for your phone)
Where to get them:  For cash, go to your bank in person and ask for $50-$100 in 1s and 5s. For credit card payments, Square, Paypal, and SumUp all have apps that you can put on a phone or tablet and have attachments to swipe or tap credit cards.
Business cards - Customers will often want to follow you on social media, read your comic, or shop online after the show, so be sure to have lots of business cards! Use your most memorable art so they’ll be able to remember where they got it from! If you’re looking to offer commissions or talk to agents/comic professionals, you might also include your email address, but otherwise leave it off.
Where to get them: Many printers offer business cards for cheap. In a pinch, you can also print your own at home or have one sign with your info and ask people to take a picture.
What to Expect
Tumblr media
Lots of talking! You don’t have to have a carnival sideshow “step right up” persona, but be ready to give a friendly hello to folks who look interested in your work, and confidently answer questions about all of your products when asked. If you have a comic, practice a quick elevator pitch to explain it.
Not many breaks! While you can technically step away from your table whenever you want (if you’re alone, you can usually ask a neighboring table to watch your stuff for you), every hour you spend away from your table getting food or going to see cool panels are sales opportunities missed.  Keep snacks and water at your table to minimize your time away, look for slow traffic times to step away and explore a bit, or bring a friend who can watch your table and sell things for you if you need longer breaks to recharge.
People who have never read a comic on the internet! For those of us who live and breathe our webcomics, this can come as a shock, but many people are still only readers of printed comics and will want to buy your physical book rather than read it free on the internet or buy a digital copy. Even if it’s just a small chapter book, having a print version is a great idea to get readers!
Fun and profit! This can also be surprising if you only have experience with online stores, but people come to convention floors with very open wallets. Things that don’t sell at all online can do gangbusters at conventions when presented right! Experiment with your setup to highlight your favorite things, take careful records of what attracts peoples’ attention and what sells, and keep notes for the next day and next convention, and have fun learning about this new market!

MAKER'S SCHEDULE, 631, BRIEFLY
I'm a writer, and writers always get disproportionate attention. How did they stand it? Their main expenses are setting up the company, which costs a couple thousand Altair owners, but without this software they were programming in machine language. Those ideas are so rare that you can't find some way to reach me, how are you going to create a successful company? For a startup, managing them is one of the first 10 employees you'll have almost as much.1 Families are entitled to their own traditions, and who the competitors are and why this company is going to beat them.2 In the late 90s my professor friends used to complain that they couldn't get grad students, because all the undergrads were going to let hosts rent out space on their floors during conventions. Part of the reason I can't believe it will be more like being able to play the two firms off each other as well as talent, so this answer works out to be important, because a we invest such small amounts, and b we think it's better if startups operate out of their own premises, however crappy, than the offices of their investors.
If you're a freelancer or a small company doesn't ensure freedom.3 What makes a good startup idea, it's sort of like having a guilty conscience about something.4 There's an idea that has turned out to be a startup. For a lot of work.5 Which is exactly how I'd describe the way lions seem in the wild seem about ten times more alive. You probably can't overcome anything so pervasive as the model of work is a job. Don't sit on their boards. What really bothers parents about their teenage kids having sex are complex.6 It's not so much as that they never pander: they never say or do something because that's what the audience wants. So if you're going to optimize a number, the one to choose is your growth rate to compensate. In social settings, I found that I got over 100 other responses listing the surprises they encountered. If you don't understand YC.
At the time any random autobiographical novel by a recent college grad could count on more respectful treatment from the literary establishment. The angel now owns 200/1200 shares, or a job. The kind of question on the application form that asks what you're going to clear these lies out of your head, you're going to clear these lies out of your head, you're going to do, at least, nothing good.7 I often recommend that founders act like consultants—that they wanted to.8 In a startup, you don't even know that.9 If these guys had thought they were starting companies, they might have been.10 Viaweb entirely with angel money; it never occurred to us that investors were too conservative here—that they do what they'd do if they'd been in Nebraska, like Evan Williams was at their age? The saddest windows close when other people die.
And when you propagate that constraint, the result is that each species thrives in groups of a certain group, that seems nearly impossible to shake. Someone who's figured that out will automatically focus more on the idea. The only explanation is: by definition. It's not just a figure of speech to say that the outcome is zero. The artists who benefited most from this were the ones who had preserved a child's confidence, like Klee and Calder. Once you have all the college students, you get rich is that there are many degrees of it. It could be replaced on any of these axes it has already started to be on most. When you're a little kid and you're asked to do something differently.
But not all waste is bad. Later I learned it hadn't been so neat, and the three founders each get 25%. Along with such outright lies, there must have been told a lot of economic history, and I understand the startup world is evolving away from their current model.11 If you seem really good we'll accept you anyway. Even in the rare cases where a clever hack makes your fortune, you probably have an idea.12 At least, that's how we'd describe it in present-day languages, if they'd had them. The way you get taught programming in college would be like teaching writing as grammar, without mentioning that its purpose is to make me feel better. After two years, the un-rapacious that you only extract half as much from users as you could. If you have something that no competitor does and that some subset of users urgently need, you have to seem like you understand technology.13 On that scale, every negotiation is unique.14 I was cynical about VCs, but the way he composed them into molecules was near faultless.15 But unfortunately when you graduate, as long as you want.16
Notes
Thanks to Daniel Sobral for pointing this out. Make it clear when you ad lib you end up reproducing some of the things they've tried on the LL1 mailing list. What you learn in college or what grades you got in them, initially, to sell earlier than you expect. But while this is also a name.
In fact most of them. But try this experiment is that if you conflate them you're aiming at. The worst explosions happen when unpromising-seeming startups do badly.
Y Combinator certainly never asks what classes you took in college. This approach has not worked well, but this would work better, and that modern corporate executives were, we try to accept a particular number.
Aristotle the core: the editor in Lisp, they may try to accept that investors are induced by the surface similarities. Com of their assets; and with that additional constraint, you can't help associating it with such a statement would merely be eccentric.
Most word problems in school math textbooks are bad: Webpig, Webdog, Webfat, Webzit, Webfug. Without the prospect of publication, the assembly line, the closest anyone has come is Secretary of Labor Statistics, about 28%.
I think the usual way to fight. The next time you raise as you can see the apples, they made much of it, and no one who's had the discipline to pull it off. Successful founders are driven by people trying to decide whether to go to college, they would implement it and make a lot of investors caring either.
P nonspam are both genuinely formidable, and the exercise of stock options than any preceding president, he was otherwise unoccupied, to get into the heads of would-be startup founders who had been a good idea to make more money. The best thing for startups is very long: it might take an hour over the Internet, like hedge funds, are available only to buy corporate bonds to market faster; the Reagan administration's comparatively sympathetic attitude toward takeovers; the crowds of shoppers drifting through this huge mall reminded George Romero of zombies. That it might take an hour over the Internet. Yes, I had zero effect on the relative weights?
The VCs recapitalize the company, and yet managed to screw up twice at the data, it's probably good grazing. I should add that we're not. They did turn out to be a win to include things in shows that people start to pull ahead in the field.
Galbraith was clearly puzzled that corporate executives would work so hard to mentally deal with the founders gained from running through their initial attitude. Sparse Binary Polynomial Hash Message Filtering and The Old Way. One thing that drives most people emerge from the moment it's created indeed, from hour to hour that the worm might have done all they could be overcome by changing the shape of the bizarre consequences of this: You may not be far less demand for them.
Indiana University Bloomington 1868-1970.
Trevor Blackwell points out that taking time to come up with an associate cold-emailing a startup could grow big in revenues without including the order of 10,000, because investors already owned more than their competitors, who may have realized this, but simply because he was skeptical about Viaweb too. See Greenspun's Tenth Rule. We just store the data, it's software that doesn't seem to want them; you have significant expenses other than salaries that you decide the price, and for filters it's textual.
P 500 CEOs in the sophomore year. It was only because he had more fun than he'd had in school, and philosophy the imprecise half. The philistines have now missed the video boat entirely.
As we walked out we ran into Yuri Sagalov. Emmett Shear writes: I'd argue the long tail for sports may be common in, you'll have to replace you. It took a painfully long time.
The reason Y Combinator.
This is an instance of a safe will be coordinating efforts among partners. In practice it just feels like a loser they're done, she doesn't like getting attention in the definition of property.
The thing to do sales yourself initially. 5%. At first I didn't care about GPAs.

Endless Orange part 1
Fred Weasley x Fem reader
Summary: Feeling lonely, fate leads Fred to a coffee shop.
A/n: Hey, y'all! This story will definitely have more than one part! Already almost done with part 2 :) I'm having a lot of fun with it and I'm pretty happy with it so far! It'll probably be mostly fluff and maybe some smut, we'll see :P Enjoy!
Thank you @luna-xial for the help!
Tumblr media
Fred sighed as he started closing up shop for the night. He sent George home early. It seemed appropriate for his brother, who had a beautiful wife and children waiting for him, to get every chance he could to spend the evening at home with them.
George had suggested that they close early and that Fred should join them for dinner, but he declined the offer.
While Fred was always welcomed in their home, he was beginning to feel like a burden. Gradually, more and more of his time was spent alone. He was beginning to feel like a third wheel. The uncle who was constantly hanging around, staying longer than he should, well after the children had gone to bed.
Even amongst the rest of his family, he felt left out, it was a rather odd thing to feel. Everyone seemed to have somebody, his parents had each other, Bill had Fluer, Percy had Audrey, George had Angelina, Ron had Hermione, Ginny had Harry, even Charlie had his dragons… He had never felt like the odd man out before.
Up until recently, Fred and George had been moving in the same direction born together, went to school together, worked together…but now his life and the life of his twin had finally splintered and they were finally on different paths.
Fred often caught himself wanting to turn to George and share an idea or a witty joke, only to realize that his brother wasn’t there.
He was truly happy for George and Angelina. He just sort of wished that he had someone too.
But instead of meeting anyone or even trying to meet anyone, Fred focused on the business. He spent countless hours working alone on new products. Stayed late doing whatever he could to stay distracted.
If Fred was being honest with himself, he’d admit that all the time he was spent at work was to avoid having to deal with his loneliness. Sometimes he even worked through the night or would fall asleep in the workshop to avoid having to come home to his dark and empty apartment.
Fred tucked his hands into his pockets, there wasn’t anything left for him to do. Everything was clean, shelves were stocked, the store was all set for tomorrow.
He would spend time developing new products but lately, he was having a dry spell, no new ideas or if he did have one it wasn’t any good.
Fred started feeling anxious, standing there in an empty store with nothing but silence to keep him company, slowly that lonely feeling he dreaded was starting to sink in.
Shaking his head, he quickly slipped on his jacket and locked the door.
Outside the air was cool and crisp, and the night sky was full of stars. Not wanting to go home, Fred started walking aimlessly.
Most of the businesses he passed were closed for the night. The streets were dark and vacant with the exception of the occasional street lamp and stray cat.
Fred mulled over ideas in his head for new products, he had been thinking about that age line spell from 6th year, wondering if there was a way him and George could create a cream or candy that would age the user by 100 years, temporarily of course.
He frowned to himself, wondering if it was even a good idea and if their customers would even buy something like that.
Could just be a waste of time… or it could be a fun prank to pull on someone else. The kids who witnessed him and George suddenly become old men seemed to find it pretty hilarious. Fred continued to go back and forth on the idea until he gave up.
He groaned loudly, this was way easier when George was around to bounce ideas off of. He’d just have to wait until tomorrow morning, see what George had to say then.
Fred finally stopped walking once he realized that he had no clue where he was. He could easily apparate home, but his eyes were drawn to the building he stopped in front of.
The warm light was like a beacon, pulling Fred to it, without thinking he entered the small muggle establishment.
Inside it was cozy and smelled of vanilla and cinnamon.
The woman behind the counter watched Fred intently with a playful smile on her lips. His unique orange suit that clashed with his red hair piqued her interest, making her want to know more about him. He was by far the most intriguing person that’s walked in all week.
He carefully took in his new surroundings, mismatched furniture, local artwork decorating the walls, and the homey interior that reminded him of the burrow.
“Can I help you?” She spoke up, finally drawing his attention to her.
Fred blinked a few times, his mouth hanging open, he wasn’t expecting to meet anyone so...attractive. He openly stared a moment longer, taking in her features and her bright smile.
As he was about to reply, his mouth snapped shut, it just dawned on him that he didn’t have any money to pay for anything, well not any money that she’d want anyway.
Sheepishly running his hand through his hair, Fred chuckled, “‘Afraid I don’t have any money on me.”
“That’s alright, find a place to sit and I’ll bring you a little something,” y/n said pulling out an orange mug.
“You don’t have to do that,” Fred objected.
She laughed, “Don’t worry about it, it’s nothing fancy. I’m gonna have to throw out this pot of coffee in a bit anyway.”
Fred smiled and took a seat by the window. She brought him a cup of coffee and a scone on a small matching plate, setting them both in front of him.
“Thank you…. y/n,” Fred added reading her name on the tag pinned to her apron. “I’m Fred, by the way,” he introduced himself.
“You’re welcome, I guess,” she said, shrugging her shoulders. “It’s just old coffee and a stale pastry.”
She lingered by the table, rocking slightly on the balls of her feet. “May I ask you a question?” Y/n finally asked, tilting her head.
“Sure,” Fred answered, taking a big bite of the scone, now realizing how hungry he was.
“What’s with the suit?”
He chuckled, “just left work.”
Y/n nodded, “and?”
Fred just stared at her, not quite understanding her interest in the suit.
“It’s just such an unusual color,” she explained, now noticing the gold ‘W’ pin on his tie and the playful design on his dress shirt.
“Oh, well, you see my brother George and I run a joke shop together, the suit just kind of goes with it all.”
She clapped her hands together, “That’s fantastic! Honestly, I love it, it’s a great suit.” Without thinking y/n took the seat across from Fred, not that he minded.
“So you and your brother own a joke shop? You look awfully young to own your own business.”
“Georgie and I have had a lifelong passion for practical jokes and pranks,” he explained, adding an obscene amount of sugar to his coffee. “We started designing and making our own products while we were still in school.”
“That’s incredible,” y/n gushed. “So as boys did you guys start off with things like hand buzzers and whoopee cushions?”
Fred quirked an eyebrow, what in the world was a whoopee cushion, “a what?”
“Oh you know, it’s a rubber cushion filled with air that you hide on someone’s seat, so it makes it sound like they broke wind,” she described.
Fred laughed, “That’s brilliant.”
He didn’t quite share his father’s interest in muggle gadgets, but maybe that’ll change. He could already imagine what the magical counterpart of a whoopee cushion would be like.
“What were some of your favorite pranks from your childhood?” Y/n asked, leaning forward, her eyes sparkling with delight.
Fred started sharing stories of some of their earlier pranks, making sure he left out all talk of magic and spells. The sound of her laughter and genuine interest spurred him on.
“Fireworks? Really? That’s unbelievable!” She gasped.
“I don’t think you quite grasp how much we despised that woman,” He smirked, finishing off his cup of coffee.
Y/n sighed, it had been quite some time since she’d had so much fun. She was about to ask him another question until she spotted the clock hanging on the wall.
“Oh wow!” She announced practically jumping out of her seat. “It’s getting late! It’s already past closing.”
“Sorry,” Fred started, standing up and getting ready to leave, but y/n lightly swatted his arm.
“Don’t be! I really enjoyed talking with you.” She grabbed the empty dishes off the table. Looking up at Fred, she bit her lip. “Maybe I’ll see you again sometime.”
A wide grin formed on Fred’s face, “Do you work tomorrow night?”

Chocolate (Hideyoshi x Reader Fic)
@pusec: Can I get a short scenario of MC accidentally calling Hideyoshi "mom"? (Ikemen sengoku//not sure if this didn't happen In canon already thought)😂
It’s probably happened before. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she did and we just glazed over it because that’s what we were thinking ourselves. Also, I’m really for the chocolate obsession in this because I’m fasting so I’m REALLY HUNGRY (it makes up almost the entire fic and I realized it was getting out of hand, so I tried to save it at the end. But I doubt that really did anything). Anywho, enjoy this mess and I’m sorry in advance.
Title: Chocolate
Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku
Pairing: Hideyoshi x Reader
Word Count: 1857
If there was one thing I could change about the Sengoku Era, it would be the amount of chocolate that I could buy.
I know the history behind the scarcity of chocolate in Japan, but it doesn’t make it any less painful. Whenever my period comes around, I’m craving a good chocolate bar. If it’s more than 50 degrees, my tongue is ready for some creamy chocolate ice cream. My body has been suffering from chocolate withdrawal: my stomach is always growling, my head overrun with fatigue, and my mouth salivating for that sweet, milky taste. I think people have started to notice because Masamune has been making me a lot more sweets while Hideyoshi bought me the finest candies the other day. Nobunaga even offered me his konpeito. The treats were delicious, but I miss my wonderous chocolate. The only chocolate I’ve had was cacao beans shipped from who-knows-where. Those were disgusting.
So you can imagine my excitement when Hideyoshi told us that shipments of chocolate had arrived at the Japanese trading ports. They would be sending the delicacy to different vendors throughout the country in the upcoming weeks. I screamed so loud that Ieyasu’s ears nearly fell off and Masamune rushed to the meeting. Although I got scolded for my excitement, there was nothing that could ruin my joy. I would be reunited with my love and savior: chocolate.
Every week, I would drag a warlord out in the town to search for chocolate. However, most vendors had no idea what I was talking about and didn’t carry anything that looked like chocolate. One vendor sold me a brown, solid bar that looked like the real deal. It was expensive, but I had to get my hands on it. But the moment I bit into the bar, my tongue recoiled from the taste and my lips nearly fell off my mouth. I gagged. The schemer had sold me a bar of tamarind instead.
However, I haven’t given up on my quest to find the chocolate. Although I took a week-long break, I am back and stronger than ever. Nothing can stop m--
“What are you writing?” Hideyoshi points to my notebook.
I quickly shut the pages of my notebook and stuff it in my bag. If he saw my maniacal writing about chocolate, he’d keep me away from it and turn this whole thing into a Nobunaga-konpeito situation. It would ruin all of my plans.
“Just about how I’m excited to have chocolate. I like to write my feelings,” I give him a sheepish grin.
“That’s really cute, but why chocolate?” He laughs.
“What do you mean, ‘why chocolate?’ “ I ramble about my childhood stories and how chocolate has been a vital part of my life. It guided me through my struggles, brighten my dark days, and was present in all my nostalgic memories. Hideyoshi listened quietly, nodding and laughing throughout my stories.
“If it’s such a big part of your life, then why didn’t you tell me about it? I could have requested some from the traders,” He asked.
“I’ve been so caught with this adjusting to the new life that I almost forgot about it.” This was far from the truth, but I didn’t want to come off as a chocolate addict.
As we walk along the street, I notice the different vendors. Each makes profits from vastly different items. Fruits, weapons, rice, ornaments, and other assortments. Each stall is made out of birch wood, but that’s where the similarities end. One has vines coiling around the wooden columns, another one has splotches of dye on the stall, and the most bizarre of them all is the stall in yellow with green stockings hanging from the top. It is the weirdest combination of colors I have ever seen.
Hideyoshi approaches each vendor whether they have the candy or not. I don’t feel comfortable asking them ever since I got scammed with the tamarind bar. It’s probably for the best since they all give him salutes and offer him all their products at discounted prices and I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to haggle for even half those prices.
We come across the odd yellow-and-green stall that I was watching earlier. Hideyoshi asks the vendor the same set of questions and he shakes his head in the same manner as the ones before him. It’s become a routine. Instinctively, I turn around and walk towards the nearest stall when I hear Hideyoshi’s voice call out to me.
“Where are you going? They have the chocolate!”
I turn around and zoom to the front of the stall. It is impossible for me to confine my excitement in my head. Forgetting that I’m in the Sengoku Era, I begin to interrogate him about the different types of chocolates in his possession. Every time the vendor tries to speak, I cut him off and provide him with my preferences. If it was dark chocolate, I didn’t want to be anywhere near it. If it was white chocolate, I wanted a 50% discount because that was fake chocolate. The only bar I would be pleased with was the regular milk chocolate.
In the midst of my babbling, Hideyoshi puts his hand on my shoulder. “I understand you’re excited, but let the man show us what he has.”
The man thanks Hideyoshi and shows him the boxes of chocolate. The vendor doesn’t dare to look at me, worried that I’ll explode with my chocolate facts if I make eye contact with him. Jokes on him because I plan to go home and spend most of my time eating this delicacy.
“Wow, there’s a lot of sugar in these. Almost the same amount as konpeito,” Hideyoshi frowned.
My blood froze. Hideyoshi could not separate me from my beloved soulmate. He’s already a burden on the relationship of Nobunaga and his konpeito, I couldn’t let him do the same thing to me and my chocolate. He’d have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.
“Well I need the sugar in my body to keep me energized and functioning,” I snatch the bar from Hideyoshi and give the vendor a thick wad of money. “Take all of it. I want your entire collection of chocolate in return.”
The man’s eyes gleam as he counts the amount of money that I handed him. He places the box on the ledge of the stall and shoos us away, probably so we don’t change our minds.
“You know, this is a lot of sugar. If this becomes like Nobunaga and his konpeito, I might have to confiscate it,” Hideyoshi gives a suspicious glance to the box.
Ignoring him, I unwrap the chocolate bar and chomp off the top corner. The hard texture melts against the wet surface of my tongue with the sweet flavor diffusing across my tastebuds, coating the center of my tongue in milky brown. The chocolate piece has dissolved into a milky coating that travels down my throat, quenching me of my thirst for the delicacy. This is an experience I will never forget. I relish the taste of the heavenly delight as I take a second bite of the candy bar.
“Don’t eat too much of this. You could get a stomachache,” Hideyoshi interrupts my fantasy.
I shoot him a dirty look. “Alright, mother.”
I go back to cherishing my second bite, forgetting about anything that I said earlier. As I take my third bite, Hideyoshi steps closer towards me and leans in my face. “What did you just call me?”
“Uh, I don’t remember.”
“You just called me your mother! I am not your mother. Do I look like your mother to you?” He asks.
I manage to stifle my laughter. Hideyoshi is usually friendly and mature, so seeing him freak out over a small thing was hilarious. However, I couldn’t give him an honest answer because I know I’d burst out laughing, spitting my chocolate all over him. I didn’t want to embarrass the both of us, so I just shook my head. But the grin on my face gives away everything.
“Seriously? What makes me seem anything like a mother?” He puts his hands on his hips.
“For starters, that.” I mock him and put my hands on hips and purse my lips. “Secondly, you’re always watching out for us and cleaning up our messes. You scold the other warlords like they’re your children.”
“That’s because they always wreak havoc in the castle! If I don’t step up and ensure everything runs smoothly, then everything will fall apart.”
I take his hand and squeeze it. “And that’s why you’re so important in the structure of the palace. Don’t hate your motherliness, embrace it.”
Hideyoshi gives me a hard look and I felt laughter bubble in my stomach. It was a lot of fun messing with him. I almost feel bad about it, but I take the last bite of the chocolate to erase my guilty thoughts. However, Hideyoshi doesn’t look away. Instead, he squints his eyes and leans closer. I look up from my chocolate bar and nearly pulled back from the closeness between us. If this was his way of getting back at me for the mom jokes, it was totally working.
He brings his thumb to my lip and slides it down to my chin. The heat rushes to my cheeks and I am sure that my face is red. I pray to every deity in the universe that he can’t feel my heat from my chin, but the raised eyebrow on his face suggests otherwise. I could see the flecks of gold in his honey-colored eyes. The thought of my chocolate disappears as my chest grows tight. Why have chocolate when I could have something sweeter?
The warlord leans in closer, his head tilted down. His eyes are on my lips. My lips almost brush against his. His finger pressed against my chin, pulling my head towards him. His mouth parts slightly with a small curve forming. My entire body is screaming right now. Of all the things that could happen, I did not expect this.
He removes his finger from my chin and makes soft motions with his finger, tracing the skin around my lips. Then, he steps back and examines his fingers. Melted chocolate stained his fingers. Hideyoshi places the finger in his mouth and looks around, tapping his foot on the ground. Meanwhile, I’m trying to collect my thoughts and calm down, placing my hands on my cheeks.
Hideyoshi removes his finger from his mouth. “This is sweeter than konpeito. The other warlords are going to finish it in a matter of weeks.”
I would say something in defense of my candy,  but my brain has been reduced to mush. That type of behavior was normal from Masamune or Mitsuhide, but not Hideyoshi. He wasn’t that clueless (that title belonged to Mitsunari).
He turns towards me. “You don’t have anything to say?”
“Uh…………”
“Alright, but one last thing,” Hideyoshi hoists the box of chocolates over his shoulder.
“I can be many things, but your mother isn’t one of them.”

Flash Fiction: Be Careful What You Wish For
Summary: When Joris discovers a genie in a lamp he begins making wishes, but without fully thinking through the consequences.
Tumblr media
Joris had been given the battered cardboard box by a friend, who'd filled it with things found in a shed he was cleaning out for his elderly neighbour.
"Load of old junk," his friend said, "but I know who much junk you sell on Ebay."
It was true that Joris ran a successful side business by finding and selling collectables and unusual items and he'd accepted the box. So he opened the box and began to catalogue the contents.
There were some vinyl albums, one broken, the others possibly okay to be sold on. There were some brass and porcelain ornaments, which he quickly sorted into worth selling online, worth a carboot stall, or just charity donations.
There were some old newspapers, yellowed, and smelling of damp. A cracked saucer. A tatty stamp album, with a few stamps worth salvaging.
There were a couple of pictures, one of which had a frame worth selling, the other worth selling framed.
At the bottom of the box there was a coffee pot and an old lamp, both copper. Joris rubbed at the coffee pot with one sleeve, thinking it might be worth something when cleaned up. He picked up the lamp - one of those ones you saw in pantomimes masquerading as Aladdin's lamp.
For fun he rubbed the lamp, polishing one side of it.
Joris fell on the floor of his garage when the genie appeared.
The genie was a shapeless mass of smoke at first, and for a moment Joris thought he'd made the lamp catch fire with the friction from the rubbing. But as he watched the smoke coalesced, flickering through a few humanoid images until it settled on a pale, bluish hued male figure with a black ponytail on the top of an otherwise bald head.
"Greetings," the genie boomed. "You have released me from the lamp and chosen my form."
Well it did look a lot like what he'd expected a genie to look like, thanks to Disney movies. Joris frowned and got to his feet. He passed his hand through the genie. "Hologram?" Surely this was some kind of a trick.
The genie eyed him sternly. "I am the genie of the lamp. You have three wishes. Choose wisely."
Joris laughed. "Okay. One million pounds, right now."
"You have to preface the request with 'I wish'," the genie said.
"I wish for one million pounds," Joris said.
"As you command."
On the floor next to Joris appeared a pallet of money. He blinked. He examined one of the banknotes from the top pile. It looked genuine.
This could not be real. But if it was, Joris now wondered how he'd explain this to the bank. Already his mind was racing. He'd have to take the cash in small amounts to deposit to his account and spend some in different shops, though £50 notes were hard to shift. He realised he hadn't much thought about the practicalities. He shoved the note into his pocket.
"Second wish?" the genie asked.
Joris shook his head. "I need to think."
He locked up the garage and went inside. He poured himself a beer and drank half of it. He looked at the note again and then picked up the phone.
"Hey," Joris said. "That box you gave me..."
"Find anything good?"
"Couple of albums, nice picture frame," Joris said casually. "A coffee pot and a copper oil lamp."
"Great," his friend said. "You said copper usually sells well, probably better than that stamp album anyway."
No hint of him knowing anything about the lamp or any trick, and he wasn't a man known for practical jokes. So Joris thanked him and hung up. He drove to the bank and deposited the note into his account without incident.
Joris went back into the garage the next day, when he'd had time to think. He'd misused that first wish and he needed to do better with his second. Genies were said to be tricky and if you weren't clear on what you wanted, could screw you over. He was lucky that first pile of money hadn't been reported stolen and the police weren't at the door.
The genie appeared, flowing out of the lamp at his approach.
"I want to be rich," Joris said. "I wish that no matter how much I spend or withdraw that my bank account is always in credit and that all of the money is always seen to be legal and above board."
That was the best he'd come up with; no more huge amounts that would be difficult to explain away, or potential for legal issues, just a constant stream of cash He intended to work his way up, by regular withdrawals of decent amounts of cash, and opening another savings account, to having enough capital to buy a huge house somewhere with a very expensive view.
"As you command." The genie nodded.
"That's it?"
"That is it. Third and final wish?"
"I need to think," Joris said. He went to the nearest ATM and drew out five hundred pounds. This should have left him with just ten pounds left in the bank, but the amount in his account had not changed when he checked. He withdrew another five hundred and his bank balance remained the same, a respectable £510.
Joris spent the rest of the day thinking of what he could wish for. Fame? He didn't like the idea of paparazzi following him around. A beautiful girlfriend? With the money he had, it might be better to find a girl by himself; a genie provided girl might turn out to be a cheating thief if Joris didn't account for every aspect of her personality.
Maybe something altruistic. Joris had a vague idea that the way to avoid getting cursed by a genie was to wish for something for others.
"For my third wish," Joris said grandly next day, "I wish to save the human race from all illnesses, all accidents, from all harm and risk."
He was proud of himself for such humanitarianism. No child would die for lack of clean drinking water, no one would get hurt at work, no one would get sick.
"As you command," the genie said and there was a wicked gleam in his eyes.
Joris frowned, a cold chill running through him. He went outside—and the world was still. Birds chirped in the trees but cars had stopped, their drivers frozen. The postman was standing, stock still, by the gate, a letter in one hand.
With a sick feeling, Joris ran inside. He switched on the 24 hour news channel but the newscaster was staring blankly at the screen.
Joris ran back to the garage. "What have you done?" he screamed.
The genie gave an evil laugh. "What you wished for. No human will ever face any risk ever again. They will not get sick or be harmed or die. They will just...exist. Frozen as they are. Forever."
Joris fell to his knees. He'd destroyed the human race. He was the only person left who was truly living, alone but for the genie. "What about me?"
"You made the wish. You get to live with it," the genie said. "And best of all, this time, unlike other foolish wishes I've granted, there's no one else left to force me to undo my magic."
Joris felt tears of remorse run down his face as the genie laughed, and laughed, and laughed.

What Money Can Buy
Inuyasha Pairing: KogKag Rating: Mature Prompt: @iinuyashaa said “Kouga’s like a wholesome sugar daddy” and it was a downward spiral from there. Coffee Shop AU for AU Yeah August. Author’s Note: Listen, if you squint, you can see the coffee shop part of the au, promise.
The black credit card had been burning a hole in her pocket all week. Every time she opened her wallet, it caught her eye. Hard not to considering how out of place it was. Still, even with the compromise they came to, she shied away from it and either used her own debit card or the little bit of cash she had each time she paid.
Kagome wasn’t certain how long it was going to take before the sight of that black sliver didn’t shock her or if she would ever get used to it. The entire idea was completely foreign, but her protests hadn’t worked and he continued reminding her of the crazy arrangement she made, so she simply ignored it instead.
Until now. Apparently, Kouga really didn’t like her not using his card and he had the uncanny ability to call at the worst possible times.
“Kagome,” he said as her coffee order was called, his voice a mix of affection and exasperation, “I gave you the card so you can use it.”
“Yeah, but I have it covered.”
Miroku handed her the drink when she neared the counter, his raised eyebrow indicating that he knew exactly the conversation she was having on the phone. No privacy anywhere.
“The schedule’s posted,” he said, glancing at the new customers that just walked in. “Tell Kouga hi for me.”
Cup of coffee and lemon scone in one hand, phone to her ear in the other, Kagome didn’t hesitate to escape the noise of the cafe and slip into the back. Her eyes went to the bulletin board just as she realized the silence coming from the other end of the line.
“Kouga?”
“I’m here,” he said, something warm curling in her stomach at the adoration still in his tone. “How’s your schedule look for next week?”
Damn the man for asking about the one thing she didn’t want to tell him.
“It’s…alright.”
Her pause had been too noticeable.
“How many hours?”
She blew out a breath. “Eighteen.”
The beat of silence that came after that told her all she needed to know: her streak of ignoring the shiny new card in her wallet was about to end.
“Kouga, I’m fine, I prom—”
“We made a deal, right?” Concern started to thread through the other emotions in his voice, but she focused on the affection instead. “I agreed that I won’t pay your bills, you agreed to let me pay for everything else.”
“I haven’t needed to buy—”
“And we also agreed that food doesn’t count as a bill,” he continued, confirming her suspicions. He knew she paid for her coffee. “Nor do clothes or dinners with friends or the new book you’ve had your eye on for three weeks.”
“Kouga—”
“Use the card, beautiful.” Wise of him not to let her speak, especially paired with that pet name that sent her stomach fluttering, and they’d been dating long enough for him to utilize the knowledge effectively. “Go shopping, get your groceries, meet Sango for drinks, and have fun. Please. Use the card.”
“Kouga, I told you the slow season was coming up—”
“If you don’t use that card, I’m going to shop for you.”
She froze, knowing Kouga just won. The last time he’d purchased something for her, she came home to a box containing shoes more expensive than her rent and a jewelry set that could have supplied lunch to a small army. Considering he hadn’t even touched clothes, Kagome couldn’t take the risk of him dropping a fortune in retaliation and stocking that in her closet.
And then expect her wear said fortune.
“I love you,” he said softly, breaking through the mental struggle she was experiencing.
“I love you, too.”
“Have fun today. See you tonight.”
Kagome stared at her phone, running through the conversation again in her head. Her thumb moved and she tapped Sango’s name before putting the phone to her ear.
It appeared that she was going shopping.
*
She was heading toward the line at the bookstore when Sango showed up. Kagome hadn’t intended to start there, but one look at the store amidst a sea of clothes and expenses, she knew it would be easier. A book was simple. Small and easy, something she would have afforded herself and something she knew without a doubt he would have gifted her with.
So with book in one hand and wallet in the other, Kagome made her way to the register before she was interrupted by Sango.
“He finally get to you?” her friend asked with obvious amusement.
“He threatened to go shopping for me himself if I didn’t start using his card.”
Her complaint was received with a laugh.
“You’re not supposed to be on his side,” Kagome spouted in annoyance. “What happened to being strong, independent women?”
“Strong, independent women get to be strong, independent women because they’re smart, Kagome,” Sango shot back easily. “So when a strong, independent woman falls in love with a strong, handsome man who’s so in love with her, he wants to give her the world—and just so happens to make enough money to do so—said strong, independent woman thanks her lucky stars and accepts her new sugar daddy.”
“Don’t call him that!” she hissed, looking around at anyone who might have heard. “He doesn’t have to give me his money to give me the world. He doesn’t have to give me money at all.”
Sango’s response was interrupted by the line moving and one of the cashiers calling for Kagome, so she took the interruption and placed her book on the counter. Her fingers stuttered over the black card, not even able to touch it, before she shook her head and—
Use the card, beautiful.
Kagome didn’t blink as she passed over the thick, black credit card, finished out her transaction, and tucked the card and receipt in her wallet. Sango was waiting for her and if she focused on that, she could grab the bag and get going and be out of the bookstore and into the mall before she finally realized what she actually did.
“Oh my God, I have a sugar daddy.”
“Now she’s getting it,” Sango cheered, bumping her shoulder into Kagome’s.
“I’m a total slut.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Sango, I have a sugar daddy.”
“And you fell in love with him before you knew how much money he had.”
“But—“
“Kagome.”
That hard tone had her gaze shooting up.
“Are you with Kouga because of his money?”
Kagome shook her head.
“If Kouga was just as broke as you, would you leave him?”
She shook her head again.
“Are you using Kouga?”
Another shake, this one with wide eyes, but Sango continued before she could speak.
“Then stop.”
Standing there in the middle of the mall, Kagome reflected over their relationship and how it progressed over the last year since he first came into the coffee shop she worked at. How he continued coming in to talk to her, how he finally asked her out for lunch, and then how he nurtured a relationship between the two of them before she finally fell in love.
“Do you think he gets something out of buying stuff for me?” Kagome blurted out.
“Probably,” Sango shrugged. “I would be surprised if he didn’t, but I think it’s more to do with taking care of you than some type of power trip.”
“So me not using his card,” she paused, not quite certain what she thought of her own realization, “is like an insult?”
Sango’s eyes softened and she leaned in. “I can’t answer that, Kagome. You have to ask him. But you said you needed some new bras, right?”
Oof, good hit. Kagome was wearing her last good one and that was saying something considering it was holding on by a thread.
Sango read her expression correctly. “Let’s go get you some bras. You can rationalize it later when you remember what Kouga gets out of you buying lingerie.”
*
Shopping turned out to be a good idea.
First, Kouga noticed. Ten minutes after she left the bookstore, he sent her a text containing a single, red heart. After she left the lingerie shop, his text told her he was taking her out that evening on a date paired with that knowing eyes emoji. Sango took one look at “date” and made sure she found a new dress to go with her sexy underwear. And after the dress, she stumbled upon a few clothing essentials and Kagome spent more in one afternoon than she could remember spending in months, but each purchase was rewarded with sweet words from Kouga. It made the whole thing easy to swallow.
Second, she really did need the clothes. Well, maybe not everything she bought, but the underwear, definitely. And nice fitting jeans were hard to find, especially when they were on sale — which they were. And comfortable shorts that didn’t show off her butt cheeks almost didn’t exist anymore, but she found a few pairs anyway. So with all of that, Kagome ended up with more clothing than she had been anticipating, but it was all clothing she would wear.
Exception to the dress. Not many places would she wear that, but she was getting use out of it on their date and it was nice to have a nice gown in her closet in case something like this happened again.
And it was a wonderful date. Kouga took her to a really nice restaurant where he was dressed in a button down with no tie and good-fitting slacks that showed off the length of his legs. He always looked good no matter what he wore, but in her new dress and heels, Kagome almost felt like she finally fit next to him.
She still preferred him in jeans and a tee hanging out at the park. Their casual dates were where she fell in love with him and she wouldn’t trade them for all the nice champagne in the world.
But Kouga loved taking her out, showing her off to anyone they saw. He asked about her shopping and what she got, Sango and how she was doing with her upcoming summer classes, even about work and life and Kagome’s other friends and reminding her all over again why she loved him. Even with his ridiculous amount of money.
It was only on their way to his home when Kagome finally plucked up the courage to ask him the question she’d been wondering for days.
“Kouga, why do you want me to spend your money?”
“Because I like taking care of you,” he answered immediately.
“Yeah, but you already take care of me.”
He tore his eyes away from the road for a split second to study her. “Not in the same way.”
“But I don’t need you to,” she said, trying to sort through her own thoughts. “I don’t need all of this. The dress is nice, but completely unnecessary if I get to be with you.”
The came to a stop in front of a red light and Kouga took the opportunity to reach out and squeeze her hand. “It’s necessary to me.”
She jerked, but he continued talking.
“Let me explain.” He squeezed her hand again. “No, you don’t need any of this. You are more than capable of surviving on your own and you were doing a damn good job of it before I met you. I don’t want to take that from you, Kagome, because I know how important it is to you.”
So far, so good; he was making sense and still acknowledging her pride.
“You’re a giving person. I’ve never seen someone hand out their heart to so many people in so many ways. You remember the day I finally talked to you? I watched you pull out your own wallet to paid for a little girl to get a cookie because she just so happened to walk in from the rain.”
“Every child deserves a cookie when they’re scared and looking for their mother,” she protested quietly.
His face broke out in an immediate, large smile. “See? You’re still doing it now.” Kouga turned back to the road as the light turned green. “Kagome, you give and give and give all the time. I look at you and all I want to do is give back.”
“You already give back.”
“Not enough.”
“Kouga,” she stressed, “it is enough.”
He was quiet, a frown starting to furrow his eyebrows and she let him have the moment to think. “It’s enough for you because you’re happy with me, something I’m damned lucky for and always will be. But it’s not enough for me, not when there’s so much more I can give you.”
Sango’s words echoed in Kagome’s ear.
“And since you’re so stubborn and won’t let me take care of you the way I really want to,” he continued, his tone turning teasing, “I do it this way. You want to pay your bills? I understand and respect that. But a shopping spree? Nice clothes and pretty dresses and good books you’re going to read and the peace of mind that you’ll have all of that even when you have slow hours at work? That is what I want to give you.”
She never thought of it that way, not in the sense of what Kouga was feeling. After being on the receiving end of pity masked as care far too many times, Kagome learned to refuse help she didn’t earn. But if giving her a credit card made Kouga feel at ease, that made it a little different.
Only one question left to ask and it was one she really wanted the answer to, but she wasn’t sure it was an answer she wanted to face.
“Was it insulting when I didn’t use your card?”
His silence said everything.
“I didn’t mean—”
“I know you didn’t mean it, Kagome,” he interrupted softly, “and I didn’t tell you for a reason.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t think it was fair to guilt you into doing something you really didn’t want to do.”
Her heart warmed with affection for this man. “Is that why you kept calling me when you noticed I wasn’t using it?”
“Part of it,” he grinned, “but mostly because I really enjoy seeing just how stubborn you can be.”
“I still bought way too much today,” she said. “Some of it has got to be taken back—”
“Oh no, you don’t.” Kouga squeezed her hand again. “I’ll rip the tags off and steal your receipts if I have to, but you’re not returning anything after I finally got you to spoil yourself.”
That tugged at her heart even more, a small smile growing on her lips as she realized just how much it meant to him.
Still, she couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling. “I still feel weird.”
“I know and I think you’ll feel weird for a while.” Kouga pulled into the driveway to his home, parking in the garage before turning to face her. “But thank you for doing it, anyway.”
“You’re welcome.”
He looked at her in the dim lights of his garage, his eyes dancing over her face and then down her dress. His grin turned dirty and Kagome’s cheeks instantly heated as she remembered what the grin was for. “Please tell me you’re wearing your new lingerie. I’ve been dying to see what you bought all day.”
“You think I bought them for you?” she asked, feigning propriety in order to hide the sudden bout of bashfulness.
“I know you did.” He undid his seatbelt and slid out of the car and Kagome knew better than to open her door before he got to it. Some things, she was learning, meant a lot to him and Kouga really wanted to take care of her in his own way.
He helped her out of the car, pulling her up and into his body as he let his hands slide down the silk covering her sides before they settled on her hips. “This dress looks fantastic.”
“Sango helped me pick it out,” she answered, sliding her arms up and around his neck.
“I’ll have to thank her.” He crowded her against the car door. “But first, I need to see what you have on under here.”
“Nothing special,” she lied.
His eyes were knowing as he leaned down and touched his lips to hers. Her heels made kissing him easier, a simple tilt of her neck as she pressed her body against his, welcoming the slide of his tongue.
“Do you work tomorrow?” he murmured in her ear as he nipped the sensitive skin of her neck.
“No,” she breathed.
“Good.” His tongue slid down her neck and he sucked gently on the curve of her shoulder. “You can spend the day showing me everything you bought.”
“Is this going to become a thing?” she asked, desperately focusing on the feel of his mouth rather than the reminder of her day. “A fashion show every time I use your card?”
Something in her voice must have tipped him off because he pulled back, his eyes finding hers and searching out answers to questions he didn’t ask. He didn’t need to; his concern was etched over his face.
“Does it really bother you?”
She swallowed, forcing herself to meet his gaze, consider his feelings, swallow her pride, and be truthful about her day. “At first, yes. But after talking to you, I think…I think I feel a little better.”
The silence stretched as he watched her, but then he must have found whatever he had been looking for and a grin tugged at the corner of his lips. “If you’re really struggling, I don’t mind shopping for you.”
“Oh no,” she returned immediately, already picturing the monstrosities she’d come home to. “Please don’t. I’ll be fine with this.”
“Good.” Kouga kissed her again, then pulled her away from the car. “Now come on — it’s about time I really appreciate some of your purchases.”
I know the focus about the credit card sounds like ridiculous consumerism, but if you guys ever get the chance to hold a black American Express card, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve had a few come through my register when I worked at a bookstore in college and oh man, you know something’s different the instant it touches your fingers. It’s insane.
Also, thanks to anon, smutty second chapter here!

trading index options Ohio In futures trading or stock trading, you can potentially lose as much money as you can win. When the stock goes up by $10, you make $10 worth of profit and if the stock goes down by $10, you sustain $10 worth of loss. There is no convexity. When you buy options, they will go up in value as long as the stock keep going in the correct direction (up for call options and down for put options) but if the stock goes the other direction, you will only lose as much as you used in buying the options, nothing more! For instance, if you bought one contract of call options for a stock for $150 and the stock went up by $10, you call options would be worth $1000 but if the stock went down by $10, you would only lose that $150 that you used. That's convexity. As long as you use only money you can afford to lose or the maximum amount you are willing to lose on any single trade towards buying options, you will always have the advantage of convexity on your side.

The good news is, you don't need to make 50% on every win nor do you need a string of 14 wins to make a million in options trading as long as you follow a sensible trading methodology and have lots of patience. Making a million in options trading isn't about not losing. It's really about making more wins than losses. As long as you have a means of consistently making more wins than losses, you can make a million in anything as long as you have the patience to stick to the game. Yes, this is the same logic in any form of trading. If it is the same in any form of trading, why then options trading? The beauty of options trading is that it actually helps you achieve more wins than losses through 2 unique means; Convexity and Versatility. trading index options Ohio Take advantage of low commissions to close out on expiration dayMost options brokers offer an exceptionally deep discount for closing out options positions on the expiration day of those options. Take advantage of this deep discount to close out positions that are at the money or very near the money instead of risking an accidental automatic exercise. 7. Use advanced orders to enforce your stop lossMost people give in to their emotions when it's time to take a loss thinking that the position might come back the next day. We all know what usually happens after that, yes, the position gets held all the way to expiration and then it expires worthless, losing 100% of its value. Yes, nothing is more difficult than trusting your human emotions to enforce stop loss points. That is why you must always make use of advanced orders such as conditional / contingent orders or trailing stop loss to automate your stop loss policy. 8. Trade for profit, not for funMost beginners trade options for fun more than profits. Their main aim is merely to use these overly hyped options strategies and see how they work with the aim of making money being secondary. Yes, treating options trading like a hobby and options trading will behave just like a hobby and hobbies cost money. If you don't think a trade has a high chance of turning out successfully, don't make it. 9. Use put options to hedge your stock holdingsPerhaps the best use of put options of all time is to buy them as a hedge against your stocks. If you have stocks which you are holding for long term investment purpose, consider buying LEAPS put options expiring six months to a year out as protection against catastrophic drops. 10. Avoid Out Of The Money Options if you intend to trade with all your moneyThe reasons why most beginners lose all their money in options trading in one go is because they buy out of the money options with all their money. This means that they will lose all their money even if the stock moved in their favor but not enough to bring the options in the money! Now, bearing in mind that you should only be using money you can afford to lose, buying only in the money options with those money give you even higher protection and lesser chance of losing everything. 6 Common Options Trading Newbie MistakesAre you about to put one toe into the world of options trading? Have you started on options trading and made some initial losses? This article is written just for you. After 6 years of professionally mentoring beginners in options trading, I noticed that there are a few mistakes that keep showing up, causing initial losses. Good thing is that I always make sure my students start out options trading using virtual trading or paper trading in order to harmlessly get through these initial mistakes and to learn from them. These mistakes have been responsible for most of the initial losses that I see options trading newbies make and having an understanding of them would certainly help you avoid these mistakes and avoid the initial frustration of losing money. Mistake 1: Choosing the wrong (usually out of the money) optionsMany options trading newbies prefer to buy "cheap" out of the money options the reason being why buy expensive when cheaper options would also profit if the stock moved up (for call options). Well, that one decision alone has resulted in much of the initial losses when a stock moved up insignificantly and the position remains in a loss. Out of the money options are only good if you expect the stock to move strongly in that direction. If you expect to profit from relatively small movements, at the money or in the money options should be what you should buy.

75Eighth - $128,144. 5Fourteenth - $1,459,646As you can see, it takes only 14 trades at 50% profit per trade, which is not a lot in options trading, to grow $5000 into a million. If you do only one of those trades per month, it takes you only slightly more than a year to become a millionaire. As such, becoming a millionaire from options trading is clearly not outside the realm of possibility and clearly very fast if you do it right. That leads us to the next question, are you able to produce a string of 14 straight wins at 50% per win? There is clearly no easy answer to this as well. I have heard of extremely lucky people who has done that before but that clearly isn't something that applies to everyone.

best stocks for options trading 2020 Ohio Mistake 1: Choosing the wrong (usually out of the money) optionsMany options trading newbies prefer to buy "cheap" out of the money options the reason being why buy expensive when cheaper options would also profit if the stock moved up (for call options). Buying out of the money options is also the reason why many options trading beginners lose all their money in one go. This happens when the options they bought never got in the money all the way up to expiration. Mistake 2: Making complex positions as your first few tries at options tradingMany options trading newbies start out making complex positioning strategies such as iron condor spread or butterfly spreads as their first few options trades and then totally screw up as they did not know how to maintain the position and some don't even know how to set up the positions properly. If you are new to options trading, stick to making a few simple call or put options trades using a small amount of money (or money you can afford to lose) in order to have a feel of how it works first before moving on to more complex strategies. Complex strategies are only good when your trading experience is as comprehensive as they are. Mistake 3: Buying options that do not conform to your expected trading horizonMost options trading beginners have no idea what an expected trading horizon is in the first place and commonly find the options they buy expiring before the underlying stock made the move they expected it to. If you expect a stock to be a mid to long term performer, make sure you buy options that are half a year to a year out. If you don't know how a stock is going to behave, make sure you give yourself plenty of time by buying options with no lesser than 3 months to expiration. Mistake 4: Placing the wrong ordersYes, when under pressure, especially when real money is involved, beginners tend to make silly human errors such as clicking a wrong button, buying a wrong option, buying a wrong expiration month or placing a wrong stop loss order that got the position sold off immediately. Such newbie human errors can only be reduced through an extended period of virtual trading practice on your chosen options platform and then progressively practice using only very little money in order to get used to the feeling of trading real money. Sadly, we are all human, while experienced options traders tend to make lesser of such mistakes, they still do sometimes. However, it is more prevalent in newbie trades and certainly hurts trading confidence.
3. The problem is, can YOU become a millionaire doing these things that have made OTHER people millionaires?First of all, let's ascertain the theoretical possibility of making a million through options trading. Let's assume you have $5000 to start trading options with and you make an average of 50% per trade and compound your earnings. Here's your account status after a number of trades:After first trade - $7500Second - $11,250Third - $16,875Forth - $25,312. 5Fifth - $37,968. 75Eighth - $128,144. 5Fourteenth - $1,459,646As you can see, it takes only 14 trades at 50% profit per trade, which is not a lot in options trading, to grow $5000 into a million. If you do only one of those trades per month, it takes you only slightly more than a year to become a millionaire. Candy Girl pt. 1
This is my very first attempt at an actual series, and based on the amount of feedback I got on the post asking if I should do this, I think it should be really fun. My computer is down and I’m using mobile, So if you see an wierd block and explanation point on some of the Letter I’s, let me know and I’ll fix this problem . Enjoy!!!!
Warnings: mentions of past abuse, mentions of possible abortion
Synopsis: Ragnar Lothbrok is one of the most successful men in the western world, creating a monopoly from the ground up practically. He owns a series of both banks and petrol stations across numerous cities in Los Angeles county, but underneath his wealth, five children and two ex wives, he’s a very lonely man.
Word count: 1.5k-ish
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Tumblr media
December 7, 1974 was both his birth day, and his mother’s death day. Ragnar Lothbrok had grown up in a small town in Oklahoma, just outside of Tulsa, with an alcoholic father. The man resented his son for the 18 years that he raised him, beating him with a metal coat hanger when the boy did something that displeased him.
Ragnar was desperate to leave that place. To leave his abusive father and his idiot classmates. Past the age of 14, he spent his summers, and even the afternoons during the school year, working on the fields for 50 dollars a day. By 18 he had saved up nearly 80,000 dollars, well enough for a one way plane ticket to California.
When he left he doubted his father even noticed, being passed out drunk on the couch as he walked out with a single off brand yellowed and tearing suitcase.
The first year in California was spent in a beach city near the ports where he quickly found work as a manual labor on the docks. He loved the freedom of being here, he loved the cool ocean breeze, and he loved the women. His evenings off work were often spent in a nightclub downtown, where he only got in with a 20 dollar bribe to the bouncer. That’s how he met his first wife, Lagertha.
She was a beautiful and incredibly intelligent woman, going to the local university, and majoring in social science. They were married within 6 months of meeting one another. A courthouse wedding and subpar “bridal suite” later, and the two were expecting a child.
The boy, Bjorn Ironside Lothbrok was born a hefty 7.6 pounds, with bright blue eyes and a tuft of yellow hair. The happy and outgoing child did nothing to stop the divorce of the couple. At age 6, Bjorn’s mother and father had officially gotten a divorce.
The custody battles were the worst, as his father brought around his bow pregannt mistress, Aslaug. Even at a young age Bjorn wondered a few things about the woman; the first being, why would she wore such tacky eyeliner, and the second being how his father could so easily attract beautiful women.
Aslaug would go on to have 3 perfectly healthy pregnancies with Ragnar, resulting in 3 beautiful baby boys that all strongly resembled their father. Her fourth pregnancy however, was the difficult one. The doctors said it wasn’t her age or health, but rather a rare condition that her child had inherited. Apparently both Ragnar and his wife carried genes for a rare bone disease, Osteogenesis Imperfecta. After 3 healthy pregnancies, all Aslaug could do was thank the gods that only one child of hers would be crippled.
Ragnar took the news to heart, and nearly convinced his wife to have an abortion, so the child wouldn’t come into this world miserable. Thankfully, the kindhearted woman could not bring herself to do such a thing, and instead flung herself into reading numerous medical books and studies of the disease. By her third trimester she was nearly an expert on the disease, and hoped that her son only inherited a very mild case, that would effect him only in very small ways.
The 17 hour birth resulted in a baby boy with severely deformed legs, that looked almost like those of a goat, certainly out of place on such a beautiful child. By then she had accepted that her son would be physically very different from his brothers.
Raising 5 kids was hard on Asluag, and Ragnar was gone most of the time. He had recently taken his savings and boyght up stocks, resulting in a large payout. When the nearest Petrol station had gone up for sale, he jumped at the chance to buy it.
As the neighborhood grew from a series of shaggy streets lined with apartments and liquor stores to an upscale metropolis, Ragnar was looking at nearly 30,000 dollars a month in profits alone.
The family moved from a three bedroom apartment to a nine bedroom house within his first year of owning the petrol station.
Asluag stayed home and educated the children through home school, always giving Ivar extra attention, while Ragnar came home in the evenings and taught the boys to box, being practically a semi professional himself.
As the boys grew, so did Ragnar’s business. With the excess monetary means coming in monthly, he was able to purchase 3 more petrol stations in the up and coming town. Within 6 months, he was making a million dollars annually, and had begun to consider buying up a franchise, or better yet, founding a company.
Ragnar was absent in his children’s lives for the better part of a decade, being buried in stacks of paperwork, overseas meetings, and tough financial decisions. With the help of his older brother, Rollo, who had also managed to get out of that town.
Within 15 years of living in California, Ragnar was more successful than he could have ever imagined. He moved his family to Beverly Hills, as a status symbol of course; he knew he could never really belong there. With his new assets, he was able to purchase several minor clothing lines, and even a bank in West Los Angeles, just off Wilshire.
His acquired name in the city amongst the other investors was King Ragnar, being as he dominated the city, buying out restaurants, gas stations, and even in one case a small pet shop. The man’s fortune had been made, and he could safely prove to everyone in his hometown that he had finally made ít but ìt left him in a bit of an uncomfortable position: managing nearly 6 separate corporations. Ìt would take years of strategic deals and sales to inconspicuously line up the companies for merging, and he wasn’t about to risk losing his new fortune.
For the first few years, he was irresponsible, traveling regularly to other countries, indulging in le than gentlemen like activities, and finding a liking to prescription painkillers. Even through all this, as his sons grew, he knew that he had to continue to maintain the empire that they would one day inherit.
When his youngest son, Ivar, was 16, Ragnar divorced his wife Aslaug. She had become a heavy drinker, and only caused problems, including the accidental death of Bjorn’s child. His granddaughter. That was the breaking point for him, and within 2 months, the divorce process had been expedited through a series of bribes on his part.
The divorce hit Ragnar hard, leaving him lonely, even with the company of his sons. The boys indulged in activities just as he had, resulting in him paying nearly 500,000 dollars total in bail money for the 4 youngest sons. Maybe this was genetic, or maybe they were all jackasses. When his youngest son had turned 18, Ragnar was free to do as he pleased. He left his house, opting to rent the house out to small filmmakers, which he later learned were actually pornographic filmmakers, but hey, live and learn. He moved to a one bedroom loft in downtown Los Angeles, where he could easily commute to work, even by foot.
Ragnar wasn’t one for expensive looking clothing. He was raised by a frugal father, and sometimes could still see that quality peeking out. He wore the same pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes every day for nearly two years, until Hvitserk, his middle son, had forced him to purchase new ones.
He didn’t spend much money on his wardrobe, and every dollar he made went to his cars. As a teen he drove the same red Ford pickup truck for 3 years straight, so he could tell where his love for luxury cars stemmed from. He had a total of 16 cars, totalling at well over 7 million dollars. They were his children, well, figurative children. His sons were living in Toronto, New York, Vegas, basically any city that he wasn’t living in.
Instead of spending time and money trying to find another wife, he simply focused on work. Nearly 5 years after the bitter divorce him and Aslaug went through, he started to want another relationship, to want someone to hold and someone to talk to at night. So, he began to date. He went on a total of 112 dates with 112 woman. He counted, and none of them ever got to a second date. The minute that he mentioned owning a company, that was all that the women could talk about. There was never really a true connection.
One of his associates told him of a method that they used, and as complicated as the conversation was, ìt basically meant “Hey man, you’re too rich to find a girl and too lonely? Pay a younger chick to be around you, basically worship you” . He thought the man was crazy at first, but eventually grew into liking the idea. After nearly 7 and a half months of searching for a so called “Sugar Baby”, he finally settled on a beautiful girl with dark brown eyes, tan skin, and light brown hair. Her name is Jazmyn.

So You Want to Start a Clothing Line
Blog II:
Maybe it has been a dream of yours for a long time or maybe you woke up one day feeling ambitious and wanted to put an idea to action. Regardless, you are here reading this article because you have an interest in the realm of starting you own clothing line. While it has been a fun and exciting process that is a learning experience, it is a lot of underlying work that a lot of people do not expect. So if you want to learn more about the reality of what it takes to start a clothing line of your own, read on. I am going to break this article down into steps of what it takes to start your brand. We will focus on a variety of topics that go into starting your line, from funding your company to buying the wholesale of blanks to getting your product into the eyes of consumers. The gritty parts of beginning a small clothing line that a lot of people do not even think about are where the attention to details lies. Who’s going to print on your blanks? Where are you going to get your blanks? What even is a blank? Who is your target market? What about tags, are you going to keep the wholesaler tags on or get your own for your company? The questions are endless and a lot of people do not even think anything of all the detailed steps it takes to perfect your brand. So lets dive into the process.
3 Steps to Success:
1. The first step is to formulate a brand, a logo, and your message. So first your brand. While this is a fairly general step, you need to develop your brand name. What does it say about your brand? Who do you want to be recognized as? The brand name you choose will be the first thing many consumers see and it will be what they make their judgment of how they feel about your brand. Basically, one has to decide where they want to take the consumer’s mind when they see the name of your brand. So depending on the crowd you want to attract is where you want to take the brand name. For example, New Vibe Supply Co. is the brand name I went with and created a unique design of my own that captured the style I want. The brand name “New Vibe” gives the consumer of the idea behind the brand. Something new, something no one has created before. It also curates to my story behind the brand of why I started it to begin with. I needed something new in life that gave me the motivation to get out of bed excited to work more that day. This is not something I could get from school because classes just were not cutting it for me. I needed something to cater to my passion of creating and my daily schedule of wake up, go to class, workout, do homework, repeat. So my brand name captures my reasoning behind starting the brand and what I wanted it to capture in the eyes of the consumer. In addition, you need to create a logo that coincides with your brand name as well as captures the message of who and what your brand is. Something that captures the eyes of consumers and something that people would want to represent. There are typically two ways to go about this, either you learn the skill to create graphic designs and make your own or you can use websites to hire people to create a logo for you. You typically can get professional looking logos done for fairly cheap and have someone make it for you on websites online. However, in my personal opinion, learning the skill is the better route. Eliminating the cost of having to use a contractor to make a new design for every shirt whenever you want a new one made by simply learning some graphic design skills is much more efficient of a process. Plus, it is a good skill to have in general going forward in your career and allows you to explore your own creative skillset and learn something new. Adobe Illustrator is a great tool to learn to use and is extremely useful for creating logos. You can send these logos and designs you make directly to the print shop in .ai (Adobe Illustrator) format so they can readily use it to put onto a shirt in a clean design.
2. This brings us to our next step of deciding on a print shop to use to get your shirts designed at. Before making this decision, you need to decide how you want to attain your blanks. Blanks are your shirts, hoodies, shorts, whatever clothing you are going to print your brand and designs on. These come from wholesalers who sell large quantities of blank clothing that is a canvas for your designs. Typically, the higher quantities you buy, the better deal you get as far as pricing for your blanks. There are two ways to get blanks, either you can buy them on your own directly through companies that sell wholesale amounts of blanks and bring those in to your printer for them to print on. The other option is to get your blanks through your printer. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. So first, buying blanks through a different company and then bringing them in to your printer to print on is cheaper. Because you are getting the blanks through a direct source, you will get the blanks for cheaper and can bring them in to your printer and only pay the print cost rather than the cost the printer charges for the blanks and print together. However, the disadvantage to this method is that typically, if a printer is printing on the blanks you brought in rather than the ones they sell, if they make a mistake on the blank and mess up the print, you lose that shirt and they do not cover the cost of the mess up. So if you buy 20 blanks to get printed and the print shop messes one up on accident, you then only have 19 shirts in stock for that size and that is a lost expense. So now that you decided how you want to get your blanks, you have to decide on a print shop to actually do your printing for you on those shirts. Typically, the first and best option is to look local. Find a print shop in your town that you are based so that you can work directly with the owner of that shop to get the design and quality that you want for your shirts. You can establish a relationship with your printer and get better deals and work better together this way. To find the best print shop, I recommend looking online and initially go off of Google reviews on the best shops that customers had good experiences with in town. You then can email all these shops, send them over some designs and quantities and get quotes for how much it will cost to get the prints done and go with the one that you feel the best about and gives you the best price for the quality of shirts. Over time, develop that personal relationship with the print shop owner- this benefits you in many ways including getting rush orders faster than other random customers, getting better prices and deals, and overall better quality because they want to please their best customers, especially those they have good relationships with.
3. The third and final step to success of your clothing brand is bringing your brand to the consumer. The two most important words in this step are simple: social media. The amount of people you can target on social media for such low costs compared to other forms of advertising and market is tremendous. From Facebook ads to Instagram ads to organic traction from friends and family sharing your brand through social is tremendous and is how I have made about 95% of my sales. Even my own friends did not know I was starting a clothing line until I launched the brand on social. I wanted it this way though, because so many people talk the talk and talk about their ambitions and what they are going to do, but never truly execute. So that’s why I kept my brand to myself until I was ready to launch it and when I did I released it all over my social media and it started to gain traction and people were hitting me up asking what all the hype was about it. From then I have ran some paid media ads on Facebook where I reached hundreds and thousands of people for multiple days in a row for give or take, $7. That’s tremendous potential and reach for such a low cost, especially when Facebook gives you $30 of advertising budget for free so you can play with it, learn it, and see if it’s what works well for your brand. In addition, organic reach by having customers post and tag you on their social media is another great, free way to promote the brand. People love their pictures to get featured on your social as well of them wearing your brand, which is free content for you to use and provides real world taste to your page for other consumers who see that people are buying into your brand and that they should too. In addition to social there are always other ways to gain traction to the brand from guerrilla marketing techniques to traditional marketing such as flyers, posters, billboards, etc. Depending on where you want to take your brand and who your target market is and where they are going to consume content.
I hope these three simplified steps to starting a clothing brand help you pursue your dreams. While these three steps are great tips that will help lead you to success, the biggest thing that will hold you back is taking the step to execute. A lot of people are ambitious to start their own company, however often enough that is all it is, ambition, not execution. So take that leap of faith, invest some money into your dream, and go do it!

@animelover210 commissioned: If it could be set when they first move into the dorms where a friendly-outing to a hero store turned into first date when Deku wants to check out a new shop and Kiri wants to see if they have anything for Red Riot, that would be cool! but if you don't like that, then I trust you!
i was so excited to write this! thank you again for commissioning me! if you would so like to commission me for a fic, please click here. Writing is my only source of income at the moment, so it'd be greatly appreciated.

“Let’s have a room showcasing competition!”
As soon as the words left Mina’s mouth, Izuku jumped up and tried to stop them all from entering his room, but it was too late, Uraraka had already opened the door.
“Whoa, Deku,” she said as they all looked in awe. All Might posters and merchandise filled the room from top to bottom. “When you said you were a fan of All Might fan, we didn’t expect this…”
Kirishima glanced around the room and thought about how he’d decorated his own; compared to Midoriya’s, maybe it was a little gaudy and cluttered. As much as he went on about “manliness”, the amount of Crimson Riot memorabilia was staggeringly low. When it was his turn to show off his room, his suspicions were confirmed. Maybe asking Midoriya for help wasn’t a bad idea.
--
When the weekend finally came and they were cleared to leave campus during the day, Kirishima caught up with Izuku on their way back to the dorm.
“Midoriya!”
Izuku jumped and turned around, a slight look of panic on his face. He relaxed when he saw it was just Kirishima. “H-Hey, Kirishima,” he said when the redhead came closer. “What’s up?”
Kirishima looked a little nervous as he scratched the back of his neck. “I was actually hoping you could help me with something? After the room showcase, I got to thinking, and I thought it’d be really awesome if I had as much Crimson Riot stuff like that!”
Izuku made a noise of surprise at that. Normally, his All Might fanboy-ness would have him made fun of (if he were still in middle school, he’d even be beaten up for it). He wasn’t used to having people actually admire it. But he quickly sobered up and nodded enthusiastically. “Sure! There’s a new hero shop that just opened in the mall and I was looking for someone to check it out with. Crimson Riot’s an older hero, but I’m sure they’ll have something.”
Kirishima frowned. “Are you sure you’re okay with going to the mall after what happened with Shigaraki? I mean, I know it only happened a month ago, but…”
“It’s completely fine!” Izuku waved his hand. “I doubt the League is going to try anything so soon after, uh you know.” The smile disappeared from his face. It was still hard for anyone to talk about the events of the training camp. Izuku shook his head and the smile appeared, determination in his eyes. “So I’ll be fine!”
“If you say so, dude,” Kirishima said, still a little unsure. They started walking towards the dorm “I was thinking we could go tomorrow, if that’s okay with you? If you're busy, we can go another time-”
“No, yeah, tomorrow’s fine,” Izuku interrupted. “We can go in the morning that way we have time to look around other shops, too.”
--
The next morning saw Kirishima and Izuku leaving school grounds after breakfast. They were dressed in light clothes, the summer heat unbearable even for the early hours. When Izuku had told Todoroki and Uraraka where he was going and who he was going with after dinner that night, they had immediate reactions.
“Ohhhh, Deku’s going on his first date!” Uraraka gushed, while Todoroki put a hand on his shoulder, his expression as blank as always.
“Do you need me to beat him up for you?”
“Yeah, we could totally kick his ass!” Ochako punched her fist into her palm.
Izuku blushed and stammered, waving his arms in front of him. “It’s n-not a d-date! We’re just going to the mall. As friends. Not a date.”
Ochako and Todoroki gave each other a disbelieving look but dropped it. Mina and Kaminari had done the same thing to Kirishima, only Mina had literally cornered the poor kid and practically interrogated him until Kaminari had to pull her away.
“It’s not a date, okay?” he said, going through his wallet to make sure he had enough money. “It’s just a friend thing. Friends go to the mall and have lunch together all the time.”
Denki raised an eyebrow and had the same shit eating grin as Mina. “Lunch?”
Kirishima looked up, confused. “Friends are allowed to have lunch.”
“All right, man. You do you.”
The mall was crowded, more than usual, when they got there. The store wasn’t even open yet, a giant white ribbon with “Grand Opening!” written in red hanging across the doors, but a line of people had already formed. Kirishima looked down the line and frowned.
“Looks like it goes all the way to the food court,” he said. “Maybe we should have gotten here earlier.”
Izuku hummed and looked at his phone for the time. “It doesn’t open for another hour. If you want we can look at a couple of vintage shops. That’s where I get most of my collectibles.” He led the redhead down the way, successfully dodging all of the kiosks trying to pull them in.
“I was definitely expecting it to be smaller,” Kirishima commented as they entered the first store. Shelves upon shelves were filled with figurines and boxes with recent merchandise mixed in though not many. Something on the wall caught his eye and he quickly moved over to it.
“Whoa! You can’t even find these online anymore!” He picked up a Crimson Riot action figure that was only in production in the 80's for a few months. After checking the price, he decided to buy it.
They both browsed through the aisles, looking for their own stuff. “Hey, Midoriya,” Kirishima asked while he looked between two comic books. “What got you into collecting hero stuff and studying them?”
Izuku frowned. How should he explain it? All Might and One For All were still secrets. He put what he was looking at down and fiddled with the straps of his backpack. “When I was little and everyone else’s quirks were developing, the doctor told my mom and I that I was quirkless. My father’s quirk is fire breath and my mother can attract small objects, so I’m sure you can imagine our shock.”
He glanced at Kirishima to see if the boy had asked with genuine curiosity. Kirishima looked at him with concern, making Izuku blush and quickly look away. “I always used to watch the video of All Might’s debut as a kid, day after day I’d ask my mom to pull it up on the computer. After the doctor’s words, I think it gave me a sense of false hope that I could still be a hero. That’s when I started seriously paying attention to the pros and the different quirks around me. I kept track of what villain battles were where, what their quirks were, what pro heroes were fighting. By middle school, I had thirteen notebooks filled with info that can be dangerous if villains got ahold of them.”
The store seemed quieter than when they first walked in. Izuku looked up and saw Kirishima looking at him in awe, his cheeks dusted a light pink. Was he even breathing? “K-Kirishima? Are you okay?”
Kirishima snapped out of his daze and took a deep breath before giving him a reassuring grin. The blush was still there. “Sorry, dude. Didn’t mean to space out like that. I think it’s cool that you found something to focus on. Late bloomer, then?”
Izuku nodded, scratching the back of his head. “My quirk developed a few months before the entrance exams, so I didn’t really have much time to learn how to control it.”
Kirishima nodded in understanding. “I get that. When I first got mine, I ended up cutting my eye.” He pointed to the small scar on his eyelid. “That’s how I got this.”
“I think it suits you,” Izuku said, tilting his head. “It’s…” A sly smile formed on his lips. “Very manly.”
Kirishima looked at him with his mouth in an ‘o’ shape, surprised, before hiding a laugh behind his hand, making Izuku giggle as well. They paid for the stuff they had picked out and made their way to the second store. It wasn’t as big as the first one, but still had a pretty decent amount of stock. When the returned, the line was nonexistent since it was well past opening time and there were surprisingly few people inside, which was a blessing since neither of them wanted to fight through a huge crowd.
As they thought, the store didn’t have much Crimson Riot, mainly the top 10 lineup, but Kirishima didn’t let that disappoint him. With Izuku’s help, he left the store with many All Might and Fourth Kind merchandise, and hit up the vintage stores again for more. By the time they were leaving the mall, both boys’ arms were full of bags. It was a bit too early to head back to the dorms, so they stopped in a small cafe for lunch.
While there, Izuku got a notification on his phone for a movie that was playing that afternoon. Kirishima paid for lunch after insisting.
(“I invited you out, it’s only fair that I pay,”
“Alright, but you have to let me pay for the movie.”)
True to his word, Kirishima let him pay for their tickets and drinks and a bag of popcorn. The movie was enjoyable, but Kirishima was more focused on how their hands bumped against each other every time they both reached for the popcorn between them. After a while he began thinking it would be nice to hold Midoriya’s hand. And maybe more, if he’d let him. Next to him, Izuku was thinking the same thing, though he was less subtle about it.
The sun was starting to set as they walked out of the theater and towards U.A. People were leaving work, making the streets and trains crowded. Aizawa-sensei was probably wondering where they were by now.
“Kirishima,” Izuku mumbled after a while of silence. The sun was gone now, the only light coming from the street lamps. Kirishima, a few steps in front of him, stopped and looked back. Izuku gripped his bags tighter and looked at his feet. Was this a date? He’d been mulling over it since lunch; Kirishima had paid for their food, he’d paid for the movie, they almost held hands multiple times.
Then there were the looks his friend had given him. Izuku’s experience with genuine friendship over the years was so low, he wasn’t really sure what actual friends did. Did platonic friends have lunch and see movies together? Were those things exclusive to couples only? Izuku’s head started to spin and he jumped when he felt a hand gently take his.
Kirishima stood close, the tips of their shoes touching. His eyes were soft as he looked at him and gently cupped the shorter boy’s jaw, fingers curling into the short hair on the back of his neck. Izuku let out a shaky breath, not even registering his next words, heart pounding in his chest.
“Can I kiss you?"
Neither of them were sure of who leaned in first. Kirishima’s lips were as soft as they looked and Izuku’s were warm. It was just a small press of the lips but it felt like so much more. Izuku felt his stomach do flip flops, his other hand reaching up to curl around Kirishima’s wrist, just to ground himself.
A car passed by and they parted after a short moment. “I think I’ve wanted to do that for a while now,” Kirishima whispered, lips brushing against Izuku’s. The boy giggled softly and Kirishima’s heart melted.
“I wouldn’t mind if you did it again.”

WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM FOUNDERS TO DETECT BIAS
Expected value how likely an investor is to say that they're happier in the sense that hackers and painters are both makers, and this question is just to do what hackers do for fun: cook up amusing hacks with your friends. The root of the problem is to start from the other end of the summer. The people who are good at it. But after the talking is done, the decision about what to have for lunch. Even a company with 100 people will feel different from one with 1000. There's a reason we have a distinct word adult for people over a certain threshold of intelligence, what matters most is imagination. It's populated by people who dropped out of school to do it? In this case the exploding termsheet was not or not only a tactic to pressure the startup. As day jobs go, it's pretty sweet. Because fundraising is so distracting, a startup should either be in fundraising mode.
Nor would I have wanted to do anything that required a commitment of more than a few months old, every week that passes gives you significantly more information about them. For the foreseeable future, people will want ever more material wealth, so there is no record of it. Are you writing pages of fiction, however bad? Sam Altman of Loopt is one of the reasons Jane Austen's novels are so good is that she read them out loud to your friends as something you'd written, you'll feel all too keenly what an imposition that kind of thing is upon the reader. If a new company led boldly into the future. Defaults are enormously powerful, precisely because they operate without any conscious choice. They assume ideas are like miracles: they either pop into your head or they don't. I usually tell founders is to stop fundraising when you start to get higher.1
They call the things that get discovered this way incidentalomas, and they try to push you to name a price, resist doing so. Doctors discovered that several of his arteries were over 90% blocked to learn that the number was over 90%. Would that do? They're more like examples of Robert Frost's good fences make good neighbors. I smelled a major rat. The closest to a traumatic failure was Kiko, whose founders kept working on their own startups and those working for large organizations. As well as being smarter, they tend to peter out. I wouldn't be surprised if by playing some clever tricks with the accelerometer you could even replace the bathroom scale. They can either catch you and loft you up into the sky, as they do with most startups. What you should fear, as a handful of founders who could pull that off without having VCs laugh in their faces.2 So if such a company has two possible strategies, a conservative one that's slightly more likely to make it something you have the luxury of curiosity, one of the most important quality is in a startup is the opinion of other investors.
Is this the way I'd say this if I were drawing from life.3 The important thing is to be excited about it, because it's painful to observe the gap between them. So what tends to happen is that they hate the idea that we ought to be writing about them as if they'd been anointed as the next Google, but I'm thinking this is going to solve this problem, but it didn't last long.4 This quality may be redundant though; it may be implied by imagination. So you have to be on the path to the finished program looks in it, but the main thing we care about is the one where we ask what cool things you've made. Either some company like Netflix or Apple will be the money burning a hole in your pocket, but I smelled a major rat. Hapless implies passivity. One of the things he would have liked to. An excessive amount of money, it will only evolve at big company rates instead of startup rates, whereas alternatives will evolve with especial speed. Which almost always means hiring too many people to apply to multiple incubators, you should focus your whole attention on it so you can get.
Be nice. Surely that field, at least, how I write one. If they saw that, they'd want you to sell them more of your company in subsequent rounds. Instead of making one $2 million investment, make five $400k investments. Clinton, even if your group has only 10 people. It's different in research. Even if they already know it, you'll probably be done faster.5 The great mathematician G. Instead of making one $2 million investment, make five $400k investments.
If you go to work for a couple years for another company for a few days of terror. Being a doctor is not the hope of getting a better one. People's best friends are likely to make it excessively hackerish. The main thing we've discovered from pushing the edge of this envelope is not where the edge is, but how fuzzy it is. Don't try to look at something and predict whether it will take off. The percentage of female hackers is small, but they adapt their plans on the fly. Dating sites are a prime example. I like about this idea is known as Worse is Better. I'm sometimes accused of meandering. Right? So if it seems like all the good ideas came from within.
Which is an uncomfortable thought. That's probably the number one question people ask me. What you can do, but assume the worst; investors who are seriously interested in you will usually be happy to talk about what? But the best way to generate startup ideas is to do what adults tell me all day long. When I asked her what specific things she remembered speakers always saying, she mentioned: that the best way to get a lot of new areas.6 In the software world may not realize is that Worse is Better, which is doing so well they could probably be acquired in about ten minutes if they wanted to. Maybe the VC industry has changed. The head of a small company doesn't ensure freedom. At best you may have to pay a little more closely related, like games. And in any case, competitors are not the graphic designers and grandmas who were buying Macs at Apple's low point in the future will feel as sorry for us as we do a birthmark. What would it even mean to make theorems a commodity?
Notes
Inside their heads for someone to invent the steam engine. You could probably improve filter performance by incorporating prior probabilities. The founders we fund used to be employees, or to be higher, as they seem to be a good open-source browser.
And while it is. It's hard to prevent shoplifting because in their lifetimes. PR firm.
You have to. This flattering distinction seems so natural to the extent we see incumbents suppressing competitors via regulations or patent suits, we don't use code written while you were going to use some bad word multiple times. But he got there by another path.
I replace the actual amount of stock. Eighteen months later. Now the misunderstood artist is a service for advising people whether or not, and we ran into Muzzammil Zaveri, and cook on lowish heat for at least a partial order.
But it could hose the whole story. Yes, actually: dealing with one of the Daddy Model that it had no natural immunity to tax avoidance. I know this is the most promising opportunities, it will become as big. But friends should be your compass.
One new thing the company is always room for another. One professor friend says that the VC. We couldn't talk meaningfully about revenues without growing big in revenues without including the numbers like the iPad because it made a bet: if he ever made a lot like intellectual bullshit. It's not only the leaves who suffer.
