Today I went on a walk and decided to visit the new museum of the History of the city of Ufa. Sounds good, I thought, did they really made an actual good museum of the history of my city. Dissapointment has awaited me.
First of all the exposition is ridiculously poor. Even historical blogs that are plenty over the internet are several times more rich with the information than this museum is. They could invite the historical costumes reconstruction societies that could recreate an accurate and beautiful costumes of Bashkort people or, for example, soldiers of 1812 war with Napoleon, who has been living here, if they decided to mention it. The plan of the old city is so lazily and innacurately done. Old churches and mosques that were an important part of the city architecture but were destroyed by the soviets? Only one was mentioned. For the soviet period they simply collect old furniture and clothes that are available at almost every grandma's house without even mentioning things like that during the ww2 a huge oilf factory was evacuated to Ufa and how it basically influenced the development of the city, or how comintern headquarters also worked here in evacuation. Or all of the heroes of ww2 like Shaymoratov? Or about Rudolf Nureev who grew up, lived and worked in Ufa. Nothing.
But that's not the worst. The second and the worst thing is that half of the museum space is the exhibition about "Nazis in Ukraine". What the fuck does it have to do with Ufa, Bashkortostan and it's history? Nothing. Nada.
Disappointed and maybe even a little suprised.
