Album Review: Aborted – Vault of Horrors (Nuclear Blast)
How cool is this!? Aborted and cult horror, a match made in heaven, and that’s before you take into account that every track on this album features a guest vocalist.
Out on March 15th, 2024, via Nuclear Blast, Vault of Horrors is the new, and 12th, studio album from death metal miscreants Aborted. The follow-up to 2021’s ManiaCult, Vault of Horrors sees the group diving into the vaults of VHS cassettes and stories, paying tribute to horror cult classics. How cool is this!? ABORTED Announce New Album "Vault Of Horrors" release new single "Death Cult"
ABORTED Announce New Album "Vault Of Horrors" release new single "Death Cult". #aborted @abortedmetal
“My family’s always been in meat” – since its release in 1974, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been slashing itself into the hearts of a loyal fanbase. Today, death metal miscreants ABORTED pay their very own tribute to this classic by releasing their new single ‘Death Cult’ – a track of intense brutality, characterized by lightning-fast guitar riffs, intricate, pummeling drum patterns and…

I think horror podcasts should make cassette tapes of their shows.
Just the thought of pretending to put some "random" cassette into a seemingly old cassette player and listening to the horrors unfold is something I crave.

also hearing joe ask hypno and etho for "someone to go get my corpse and throw it through the portal" has reminded me that for a hermitcraft player there are some aspects of vault hunters that have to just be. complete existential nightmares. to go from a server with respawns that are quick, easy to recover from, and frequent, to--
do you know how often you have to loot your own dead body in this game? (it's a lot.) do you wonder how many times the hermits have had to retrieve their friend's ghost and rescue it from the vault, carrying their cold, clammy spirit in their hands? the gods want them to buy it back; you wonder how much of their soul is in it. at least it's cheaper because you rescued them. small mercy, that you can make it cheaper for them to retrieve their soul from the gods. do you know how many times you've had to loot your own dead body, too? (you aren't sure.) what happens when you can't afford to buy your spirit back? (the first time it happens, you realize you'd have to run a vault again; better not die and compound your debt.) there's a button to destroy it, too. a button to destroy that bit of your soul and make room for others, if you accept you'll never afford it. and your friends and you, you're--you don't think you've lost anything important. you hope you haven't lost anything important. there's something strange about how you all walk now, though, and...
the thing is, you know exactly how much the gods value your soul at; it's the price of everything you carry on your person. and you know exactly how it feels to carefully unlatch armor from your still-cooling corpse and put it back on, the protection clipping around your limbs, and it feels so long ago that you could just pick your items off the ground instead.
so yeah. SLIGHTLY existential nightmare, for the hermits,
