Shizuroth, part seven
-
First things first: a proper, decent and hopefully fully chest-covering shirt.
Sephiroth has them, and none of them fit. He has, literally, outgrown all his shirts, turtlenecks and jackets, and judging by the looks of it, he'd never bothered to get new ones. Even the stretchiest of them pops stitches when trying to accommodate his shoulders and chest! It's ridiculous! What, was he a little string bean of a man and then burst into a beefcake overnight?
Ignoring the influx of new messages from the mailing lists Genesis subscribed Sephiroth's phone to, he investigates the shops' menu with more detail. It soon proves he definitely has access to clothing stores and he definitely has the money to use them. He also has the means to just requisition a free new uniform from SOLDIER any time he wants, but apparently pressing a few buttons was too much work for the man! Better have your chest out and about than bother with the barest minimum of effort for the sake of personal comfort or public decency, apparently!
So, add laziness to the reasons why Sephiroth's outfit is like that.
…Or maybe, possibly, some form of executive dysfunction? It might explain the room he's supposed to be living in, which is barely fitting for existing in. On a more thorough look, it really looks like everything was just placed just wherever with no care to how it looked or what the vibes were. It has a very that's good enough feel to it.
Except it isn't! It's awful! The place is barely better than a first year college dorm room! Not that he'd know what those look like, he had his own apartment by then - but still! You can do better, surely!
No, wait, actually - how old is Sephiroth right now?
The bathroom mirror isn't very helpful. Sephiroth has that same androgynous ageless look that Shen Qingqiu has - just much beefier and sorta monochrome. In xianxia terms he could be anywhere from twenty to two thousand, hah! Though from what he recalls of the game, weren't everyone kinda young? Old for JRPG, what with only one teenager in the main character group! But still way under thirties. And this is way before that….
Ahhh he misses fan wikis! He needs thoroughly documented timelines! He needs a birthday! He needs a character ID - he needs -!
Actually, Sephiroth should have some kind of ID, being an evil megacorp employee, right? An employee card, or what a SOLDIER might have. Dog tags?
Quickly he begins rummaging about his person again.
There are no dog tags, but Sephiroth does have a wallet and a bunch of cards. Including a Shinra Employee, Personnel Medical Information, Shinra Medical Research and Shinra Military cards. And Sephiroth is twenty-one, apparently.
That's… hmm.
Yeah, he has no idea what to do with that - but it explains the awful dorm room vibe! Clearly the guy didn't have experience with how to live. And who knows how long Sephiroth has been living on his own anyway, and where and how he lived before. Plus, with his schedule, he can't be spending much time at all in this room. None, apparently, if he could manage it. And no wonder! The place is soul-suckingly awful.
Well, that's not how he's going to live, that's for sure. The shirtless life is not for him!
Hmm… ordering clothes and stuff without even seeing what they look like first, though…
Snapping the flip phone shut he goes to investigate the laptop, hoping that maybe they did figure out web sites after all. It turns on with gratifying swiftness and reveals itself to be a Windows knock-off from the nineties or something like that - with just about the same level of security. It doesn't even ask for a password! Convenient.
In a glowing example of video game redundancy created by developers being lazy, it has the exact same apps as his phone, just with a bigger keyboard. No internet, no websites, no games, nothing. And judging by the single folder on the computer, the only thing Sephiroth ever does with the thing is write mission reports. How sad.
It almost makes him miss Zhongdian.
The shops' menu comes with pictures, thankfully, so that's something - and it's conveniently hooked straight to his wallet, so all he has to do is  press buy and the thing is done, just like that! Videogame shop mechanics for you. He has no idea how the purchases would be delivered, maybe he will have to go pick them up at the building lobby or something, but whatever! He needs shirts, curtains, carpets, a couch, and a proper damn tea set to start with! And maybe, if he really goes crazy with it, some house plants!
Guessing at his size by using the tags on the shirts that don't fit, he puts in some dozen clothing orders for several different sizes to start with - and it barely makes a dent in his wallet. Then he scrolls through the available furniture in another store until he finds a couch big enough for Sephiroth's huge ass body to actually lie down on. Tea set is harder, there isn't one that matches his criteria, but he finds a home decor shop that sells teapots and sets of cups that will do for a start. Carpets are harder - who the hell decided that black ceiling was good for anyone - and ultimately he ends up choosing dark forest green.
And then he finds out that there are no live plants to be had in Midgar. There's a shop that sells life-like plastic replicas… but just looking at it makes him feel so sad. Because, yeah, right, he forgot.
Life-sucking megacorporation. Literally. The whole city is surrounded by dead desert, and you probably just can't keep houseplants alive in Midgar. Because Shinra is literally draining the lifeblood of the planet, and only the tragic heroine with mysterious lineage can make the flowers grow.
And he's her ultimate, poisonous antithesis. Yeah.
Depressing.
Leaning away from the disappointment of a computer, he heaves out a long sigh from Sephiroth's deep chest. The idea that he might never see living bamboo again makes him feel vaguely nauseous, and with a grimace he rests a hand on Sephiroth's washboard abs.
Energy sits like an undigested mass in his guts. He's all but bloated with the lifeblood of the planet. Ugh. He should really do… something with it, huh?
And then the awful Feng Shui hits him in the face.
"Ah," he mutters unhappily, eyeing the room. He can almost see the energy pooling in the middle, stagnating. That can't have been helping with Sephiroth's situation. He can't do much about it yet, not without more furniture - but he can at least move the damn bed and redirect the energy elsewhere!
Which he does.
By nearly flipping the metal frame of a probably really heavy bed over and almost throwing it into the wall.
Ah.
Right.
Super SOLDIER.
Tentatively he crouches down and tests his strength on the bed. By very carefully picking it up. Which is something he can do, apparently! It doesn't even strain him - he just puts his hands under it and lifts. Just like that. Amazing.
… Is this what it's like to be Liu Qingge? Wow.
He kinda feels sad for Liu-shidi now, for never getting to see - and fight - someone like Sephiroth. Poor Liu-shidi, always looking for a strong opponent to test himself against, always asking his useless shixiong for a spar, and here is his useless shixiong, in one of the greatest fighters in video game history - utterly out of reach! What a shame!
He arranges the bed away from the doorways and sits down on it with a heavy sigh.
Oh, but he will really miss Liu-shidi. The knowledge that he will never see him, or anyone else from Cang Qiong Mountain Sect again… it really is a shame. He didn't get to do enough in that life - but at least Liu Qingge survived! Hopefully… hopefully his life will be good. Hopefully Luo Binghe would forgive Cang Qiong Mountain Sect for their involvement with Shen Qingqiu, and they'd all live long, good lives… without him.
Ah, probably best not to dwell on it. He'd got a new transmigration, a new body and a new life to adjust to! New villain to embody - and a new doom to circumvent.
Kicking off his boots, he puts Sephiroth's feet up and into a lotus position, draws a breath and begins to see what he can do for the man's internal energies. Can cultivation practices be applied to Final Fantasy VII Mako and magic?
Time to find out.

If You Want to Be My Lova
Yelena Belova x PlusSize!FemReader
Natasha Romanoff x Wanda Maximoff
A/N: Though I identify R as plus size, I didn’t give her much description to leave it open to a broader range of readers who struggle with loving their bodies. (Pssst, you’re beautiful—I just know it’s true 🥺) | 3,912 Words
Warnings: Steve’s a fat shaming asshole, Body Image Insecurity. Alluded to/never specified eating disorder.
A/N 2.0: I personally detest Steve, but to be clear I don’t genuinely think he’d be like this, I just needed an antagonist.

Tumblr media
Steve watched from across the counter as you wandered into the kitchen, your water in one hand and your phone in the other as you perused the kitchen in search of breakfast. He'd seen the exact moment your eyes lit up when you saw the pink boxes on the counter.
An unnecessary wave of glee ran through him as he prepared to open his mouth and speak, "Are you sure you want to eat that Y/N? If you're serious about losing weight why not look into eating some rolled oats with berries?"
He was being vindictive, you'd grown used to it after you worked your magic and got Natasha to finally ask out Wanda, he's been visibly bitter over the situation ever since. The talking point of your weight was easy enough for him to cling to, he was in peak fitness, and it would only come off as a concerned friend trying to help you reach a "better" state of wellness.
What he failed to consider was Wanda was on her way into the kitchen as well, and she was able to see the exact moment your spirit broke. The light in your eyes faded fast, and the donut in your hand was gently set back into the box, she saw the way your lip wobbled, and your eyes filled with not only tears, but dread too.
——
It enraged her honestly, you were the sweetest person around these parts, and deserved to be treated with nothing less than love and respect.
Steve saw it too, the way you bit your lip and closed your eye's tight to try and reel your feelings in. Crying over it changes nothing...
He went to lift his mug of coffee to his lips as if he was accomplishing something amazing, his smile smug as ever when you turned away, but it fell fast when the steaming contents of his mug were sloshing over the edge of the glass in a way that could only be explained with magic.
He hissed as the drink scalded him through his thick cotton shirt, his chest on fire now, and in a dramatic manner he removed the stained shirt to reveal his toned abs, and ripped arms.
"Wanda, what the fuck was that for?" He called her out immediately, and so she entered the kitchen with a victorious smile, and red tinged fingertips. "Whatever do you mean Rogers?"
"I know what you did."
"Yeah, and I too know what you did," she glares menacingly in his direction while also setting a reassuring hand onto your shoulder, "I'd say the punishment fits the crime."
Steve glared right back, and you finally turned to see what must've occurred to cause this rift, you felt guilt gnawing at your gut, it wasn't a fair feeling, but yet you could feel it festering.
Wanda's fingers continued to spark in shades of a dangerous crimson as the burned man wasn't appearing to be backing down, and you didn't want to involve her any further. It felt sorta unfair for her to fight your battles for you. On account of her being your girlfriends future sister in law, and also because this entire moment was beyond mortifying for you.
To have your insecurities viciously thrown in your face in a public space like this, well it was rather juvenile, and so it made you feel like you were that same kid crying under the bleachers all those years ago when kids were being cruel.
The people pleaser in you won out alongside the embarrassed little one who still resided in your heart, so you took in a shaky breath before trying to calm the witch, "It's okay Wands."
You'd gently settled a hand over hers that still held tightly to your shoulder for comfort, the witch looked back at you, the sad smile you offered didn't calm her though, it only fueled her on. "It's not, especially not when he himself is only a byproduct of a steroidal experiment."
Steve's stance faltered ever so slightly, his ego now efficiently bruised. His mouth spluttered embarrassingly for a moment before he left the kitchen altogether in a grumbling huff.
"Tata Captain Hot Head," she flipped the man off, then turned back to you as you giggled.
"Hey dorogoy," you looked at her inquisitively, and she offered you one of the warmest smiles you'd ever seen, "Can you do me a favor?"
"Of course, whatever you need Wands," she beamed, "I'm glad to hear you say that, can you get two plates for us? I'll take a maple bar, and you can pick that sprinkled one back up while I make us a fruit salad and some hot cocoa."
Wanda watched closely, there was a hesitation in your demeanor, as if you were now scared. You however nodded meekly, then began to shuffle around the space to do as she asked.
"Ooh, did I see donut holes too?"
"Yup," you confirmed, and then you watched from your place at the counter as six tiny balls of dough and sugar danced through the air until they landed evenly between your plates.
The two of you spoke about your weekly movie night tonight while picking at the food before you, you smiled when the witch said you got to pick, you settled on Hocus Pocus, and Wanda smiled when she saw your plate was empty.
Then Wanda watched your face fall as she described in detail how she'd prepared a couple of snack trays for the both of your girlfriends with the ravenous appetites. This was a normal conversation, but now that Steve threw you into this self deprecating headspace she could see you debating if you wanted to go anymore.
The pressure to eat another meal today was already crippling your soul, it felt wrong to even consider nourishing yourself after the way Steve haphazardly regarded your body. Seeing how fit he was didn't help either, it only made you feel like you truly didn't deserve to eat.
"Well, I have some errands to run Wands, but I'll see you tonight," you collected both of your plates, and left her behind with a side hug as you departed, but your thoughts were so loud all the witch was left to do was frown as she made her way to the gym to try and fix this.
Natasha slammed Yelena into the mat for what was like the tenth time in an hour, "Cyka."
"Just admit that I'm better, and we'll be done."
"Never, I am just distracted," Yelena groaned, "Something in my gut is deeply unpleasant."
"Yeah, you simply can't stomach losing," Nat laughed as she once again dodged her sisters fist with grace, but then she was groaning when Yelena's fist hit her in the gut, she was too distracted by the sight of her fast approaching angered lover to have stopped the attack.
"Ha! I win!" Yelena screeched, only to be met with a shove that knocked her on her ass, and to wind up on the receiving end of Natasha's incredulous expression, "One hit isn't a win!"
"Listen here cyka," Yelena angrily muttered while stepping up to her sister, "Listening," Natasha smirked and Yelena reared back.
"Enough! Both of you!" Wanda caught Yelena's fist with red wisps, "Save your anger for Steve."
The sisters looked to her within an instant, both wearing different degrees of confusion.
"What did he do now?" Natasha groaned, she was growing really tired of his petty antics.
"He made Y/N self conscious, she's not okay."
Yelena's entire body tensed, Wanda could feel her fighting against her magic, and as if the God's heard her prayer Steve entered the gym.
"Let me go," she lowly growled, and Wanda did so without a single concern for the man, she was actually thrilled for what was to come.
Steve was unknowingly preparing for a beating coming down here, he'd come here to fight away the thoughts of inadequacy Wanda placed in his mind with the punching bag, but instead he was on his knees clutching his manly hood.
"What the actual fuck?" he seethed, but when he met the fiery gaze of one Yelena Belova he knew not to even test the waters any further.
"YA vypotroshu tebya, kak rybu," she rasped through gritted teeth, her hand fisted in the mans hair, as she punched him square in the nose, then as she went to further beat him she felt Natasha's hands on her shoulder's pulling her back, "Idi k yeye sestre, ty yey nuzhen, my s nim spravimsya." Yelena looked to her with a scowl, but after a moment of reassuring eye contact she conceded, "Zastav' yego zaplatit'."
(I will gut you like a fish / Go to her sister, she needs you, we'll handle him. / Make him pay)
"You know Rogers, Y/N only ever gave me the confidence to ask Wanda out, it was always going to be her, and never going to be you," she pulled Wanda in by her waist for a bruising kiss to ensure he understood her honest words.
He pouted like a petulant child, Yelena's firm hold was replaced with Wanda's impenetrable magic, so he was forced to watch them kissing.
Natasha lowered her body until she was level with the pitiful man, she patted his cheek twice patronizingly then she spoke only to ruin him, "Because sure Rogers, you might have the fawned over physique, but that's really only superficial, at the end of the day you're nothing worth experiencing," she beamed as his eyes filled shallowly with tears, "Y/N is a light in this dark world Steve, and for you to treat her like she's less than because you feel you lost me because of her is so strange. It's also not true."
"Everyone knows you have the personality of a brick wall, and it's just not that appealing. At least Sam and Bucky are interesting enough," Wanda taunted the scowling man, "There's a reason you could only ever score a date with the niece of your almost lover," she gripped him by his chin, and stared coldly into his eyes, "You're a pathetic excuse for a man Steve."
"That's all there is to it," Nat concluded, then with a precise swing of her fist he was out cold.
Wanda knelt beside him, and Natasha watched as red wisps jolted through his temple, "Sweet nightmares, I hope you wake up devastated."
"God, I love you so much," Natasha groans as she pulls her lover in for a deep kiss, "Y/N's family Nat, and nobody fucks with my family."
"That she is, I just hope Yelena can fix this," Natasha frowns slightly, and Wanda meets her concerned expression with an equivalent sigh, "If anyone can, it's her." Wanda softly grabs her lovers hand, "But we can also do our part."
Yelena raced through the entire compound in search of you, in her frazzled state she had neglected the obvious solution of just asking Friday, but after stumbling onto the vacant floor of the compound she knew she found you.
Soft sobs came from the room that used to be yours before you moved into Yelena's room. Back when you were Tony's assistant who he deemed worthy of a room, and not yet her everything, because that's exactly what you are.
"Y/N?" She called out softly as to not scare you, "Moye solnyshko," she whispered the words as she entered your old room, her heart stuttered when she saw the broken glass of your mirror, and it nearly shattered when she saw some of your things had been brought down here.
"Y/N, detka, what's going on?" She reached out for you, but you pulled your hands away, she frowned upon seeing the cuts that littered your skin and the air of despondency in your glossy orbs, it had made her imagine Steve's body dangling over a tub of carnivorous crocodiles.
It's now on her to do list...
"Lena, you should just go," you whispered brokenly, voice cracking as well as both of your hearts as you verbalized the words you didn't mean, "I'll never be what you deserve, so go."
"So that's just it? I don't get a say in this?"
"You're so beautiful Yelena, you deserve a partner that matches or excels you, which would honestly be impossible, you're perfect."
"You do excel me Y/N," she whimpers, and this time when she goes to reach you she does so by straddling your body, and making sure you can see just how true her words are. "I've never had anything to call my own Y/N, but now I have you, and I wouldn't trade that for anything."
"But what if there's someone better along the way Yelena? It's easier if we break this off now, I couldn't cope if you left me in the future."
"Never," she promised, her lips deposited a peck to your tear stained lips, "There is nothing better for me than you detka, I've never been happier," she smiled warmly as she stared into your cloudy eyes, hers just as glossy as yours, "That's all because of you. Moya solnyshko—my sunshine; oh how you brighten my life."
Yelena watched the storms behind your eyes begin to settle, your once tense body melted into the mattress, and she took the moment as the perfect time to kiss you, to pour out just how much you meant to her into the gesture.
"Look at me Y/N," she remained soft as she sat you up, and pulled you into her lap without a moment of hesitation, her tone however held a seriousness to it, "You deserve to feel safe in your body, to be able to love yourself despite any societal norms that are like ugly lies."
"I try to love me Lena, b-but when people that look like Steve say what they do I can't help but worry that I'm not meant for your love, maybe I'm holding you back, or you're settling here."
"First of all, you are meant for me only," she held you far more tightly, a possessiveness falling over her at the thought of you being with someone else. "You move me forward detka, my life has only looked up with you at my side. Life is a box of chocolates with you."
A sweet giggle left you as Yelena paraphrased last week's movie to make her point.
"I'm not settling Y/N, if anything it's you who's settling," you instantly shook your head with a pout, and she smiled at you sadly, "I've done a lot of things wrong in this short lifetime Y/N."
"You didn't have a choice Lena," you growled, and she chuckled lightly, "I know, but I finally do, and you're the only thing I've done right."
A brief moment of silence fell over you both, Yelena's grip on you was firm, and loving, her lips pressed to your forehead, and when you quietly sniffled she figured you needed more.
"Fuck that dipshit in spandex," she grinned when you giggled softly, and her looming fears melted away when you rested your head over her heart, "He'll never know what it's like to be loved truly, because he doesn't understand that people don't care for that manufactured body of his when it's paired with a heart of stone."
"You though. You're not only beautiful to look at," she leaned back, giving you the once over for emphasis, but she truly did get distracted as she took you in, with her lip caught in between her teeth and a smile in her eyes she couldn't fake, "You've also got a heart of gold detka."
It was easy to believe when she looked at you like that, but you still had your reservations, and Yelena could see right through to that.
"I love you, for every last part of you," she readjusted you so that she could cup your cheek while her other hand held your hip, "Whatever you see as a flaw, I see it as you, and therefore it's perfect, because there's nothing flawed about you, you're a beauty worthy of marveling at, you're the perfect they say does not exist; this body of yours is my paradise."
Tears began to stream down your face, and in the past Yelena would freak out, worried that she said something wrong to upset you, but she's come to learn that tears can be joyful. That much she learned when she burst into them the first time you said you loved her, the sweet words dripped from your lips like honey.
"I-I love you Yelena," you blurted in a graceless blubbering manner, "I-I'm sorry for trying to leave you, I was just scared, but I promise you that I don't ever want to lose you, like ever."
"You never will," she purrs, her hand gently gripped you by the plush skin of your hips, "Because I'll never give you up for anything," she murmured against your lips before she slammed hers into yours passionately.
Her lips began to travel down your jaw, your breath hitched when she sucked lightly over the skin. "Lena, we have to go to movie night," you stuttered breathlessly. She groaned, "Do we have to? We can skip it tonight, on account of me wanting to love you until you believe it."
"I do," you whispered, "I believe you," with a genuine tone you brought a smile to her face.
"Then let's go moya lyubov'," Yelena lifted you up into her arms causing you to squeal at her show of strength, "I can walk just fine baby."
"I just didn't want to let you go just yet," she confessed while gently lowering you, and in return for her being so sweet you softly kissed her lips, "We'll be cuddling soon enough."
The two of you rode the elevator to your floor so you could drop off your things, and change into more comfortable clothes, but not until Yelena doctored up your injured hands, with a soft kiss to follow every bandaid she placed.
"Your boo-boos have been handled," she said with a bit of a pout, "I'll be back shortly," and with a soft kiss to your lips that lingered for a moment longer than need be she was gone.
Yelena left to shower off her day in the gym, and you unpacked your things before slipping into a pair of black sweats, with a worn down band t-shirt, and as you always did when feeling somewhat down, you slipped right into your girlfriends oversized army green hoodie.
You knew she bought it for you, but she wore it until it smelled enough like her to calm you... It's become your live in article for her missions.
Yelena's always been so incredibly sweet, you honestly can't believe you tried to end things. Her love has always fixed your problems, she never saw you as anything other than worthy of love, and affection; she was your soulmate.
"Well don't you look cuddly," she noted as she walked up from behind and grabbed your hand, "Can't wait to hold you close, it's cold"
"Cold?" She met your confusion with a sly smirk, then pulled you along wordlessly.
Once she pressed the button for the roof you understood her, excitement overran your body at the idea of a spooky movie under the light of the moon and the surrounding stars. That is until the doors opened to reveal a battered Steve with an ice pack on his bruised cheek, making you tense up, causing Yelena to look away from you and over at the unwelcome.
Before anyone could even mutter a word you got to bare witness to the brick house of a man wordlessly hobbling away after your much smaller girlfriend stepped towards him, and the smug smile that overtook your lovers face was rather priceless, "Lena, baby, you can't solve everything with brutal violence."
"Why not?" She pouted, and it was so innocent in appearance you'd never believe she was a highly skilled assassin in her younger days.
"Words can work too..."
"Yeah, he used words, we used our fists."
"We?"
"Yes, I broke his nose, and hopefully made him unable to reproduce. Wanda and Natasha did the rest to him, remind me to thank them."
"Goodness me, you three keep me on my toes."
Yelena grinned, then kissed you for the rest of the elevator ride. The ding signaled her to stop, and she stepped aside to let you exit first.
"Ta-da," Natasha cheered with jazz hands to draw your attention to the identical hanging day beds settled besides one another, with a table between with popcorn and candy atop.
Then you looked up to see the projector screen was adorned in purple and orange lights with smiling pumpkins after every few bulbs, the beds were littered with fluffy blankets, and there were outdoor heaters nearby for the anticipated maximum comfort level possible.
"I did nothing to help, but I promise I love you, witchy was just too nit-picky, I was safer on the sidelines," she said quietly while pulling you into her for a tight embrace, "I love you too."
"You'll be safer on the couch too if you keep it up," Wanda lightly threatened before taking you from her genuinely terrified lover, "I've prepped lots of food, make a plate honey."
"Where will she pick from if this weird plate is mine?" Yelena asked while holding an entire charcuterie board to her chest, her face never more genuinely serious than right now, and you stifled a laugh at the adorable sight, "Don't worry baby, feel free to enjoy your dinner."
Wanda looked to you scoldingly, worried you were using this as a get out of dinner card, but then you lifted your phone up to show her that it was okay, and you were fine. While Natasha and Yelena scavenged around with snacks, you and Wanda will share a pizza—like normal.
"What will you eat?" Yelena frowned, but you waved her off, "There's popcorn and candy."
Yelena held her plate out anyways, and you smiled while picking off a single cracker and a slice of cheese to top it off., "Thanks love."
"I will not be doing that," Natasha shared with her girlfriend who settled onto the bed beside her with an eye roll, "Oh, I was well aware."
When the expected ding of the elevator interrupted the undergoing movie night you smirked over at the witch who had left their outside daybed to collect the pizza, and with a soft kiss to your girlfriends parted lips, and with a careful transferring of a pillow in your place you joined Wanda on the porch swing.
"Every time," you remarked playfully, "Without fail," Wanda added while waving her pizza around for emphasis, "They're total chumps."
"But we love them anyways," you softly added, and Wanda snuggled into your side with a warm smile, "That we do," she whispered, then she hugged onto your arm tight, silently letting you know that she loved you too, and in turn you laid your head over hers on your shoulder as the both of you continued to watch the film.
"I'm sorry Emily; I had to wait 300 years for a virgin to light a candle."
"It was probably Steve..." Wanda nudged your side, and you cackled softly, "Knock it off."

That final line - Joe Liebgott x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Things have changed between Joe and Reader after bearing witness to the Concentration camp. They moved from being best friends to something more emotionally intimate. Now that the war in Europe is over will they cross the last line and become physically intimate?
Warnings: 18+ content (smut, p in v) angst-ish (mentions of war & concentration camp), comforting each other, tooth rotting fluff at end, she/her pronouns (no use of y/n or 1st person POV, but told from Liebgott's perspective sorta).
A/N: I have the biggest respect for the real life heroes of WWII (and all other wars, past & current), this work & all other works is based on the actor(s) and character(s) portrayed in the Band of Brothers series.
A/N pt 2: I love how this turned out. Basically this is just my own self-indulgence wish that I could have held and taken care of Liebgott after that scene of him crying in the truck. As always, let me know what you think! I tried a different writing perspective and I like it, hopefully you do too. Comments, likes, and reblogs make me happy and feel validated!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe Liebgott would forever be a different man. Easy Company had just liberated Kaufering IV but that included locking the poor souls back up for the medics to be able to try and get them back from the brink of death. The whole thing had left Joe feeling broken and full of pure rage and despair he didn't know how to get rid of it. So he grabbed a bottle of wine and wondered till he found a tree isolated enough he wouldn't easily be found. He just needed space.
He'd been alone for hours, judging by how low the sun was hanging, bottle long since empty, and eyes sore and dry from tears when he heard a twig snap. Looking around the tree, his heart both swelled and shattered at the sight of the person walking towards him. She was his best friend, been that way since Toccoa and all through the war thus far. The only person that could calm him down when his hot-headedness got the better of him and always had his back in every combat situation. He never had to worry when she was around. She was also the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen and had long since accepted that his heart would always speed up a little when she was in eyesight. While his heart had the usual reaction at seeing her, he couldn't help but feel broken anew at the sadness on her face and emptiness in her eyes. He wasn't the only one tore up from their recent experience.
"I've been looking for you everywhere." She speaks barely above a whisper as she drops down next to him, already leaning against his arm.
"I'm sorry, I just had to get away for a while. I should have found you and brought you with me." He leans over to drop a kiss on the top of her head.
There's a beat of silence and then she speaks again, still in a low whisper, "Do you think they'll make it?"
The words are a dagger to his already bruised and bleeding heart. He gives a small sniff, trying to hold back the fresh tears.
"I don't know." He feels her turn her body towards him and knows she's taking in his appearance detail by detail.
"You can let it out, Joe. I know this is tearing you up. Please don't hold it in and let it destroy you." One hand grasps his while the other gently takes his chin and turns his head so their eyes meet. He tries to push the emotions back down and come up with something to say, but he loses all resolve when her hand moves to cup his cheek and wipe away a stray tear that falls out.
Joe is suddenly wrapping his arms around her, pressing his face in the crook of her neck and letting it all out. He feels her shift them so he's laying mostly on her, her back against the tree and arms tightly wrapped around him. One hand is gripping the back of his jacket tightly, holding him to her, the other is gently stroking his head, and when he feels the side of his face getting wet he knows she's crying too.
They stay like that for hours, until the sun is nearly gone and all tears have been let out. Even after the tears, they don't move, finding too much comfort in holding each other. The only thing that gets them finally moving is their stomachs growling. Joe gets up first, holding his hand out to help her up and starts walking them back to find some food. He looks down briefly when he feels her intertwine their fingers and give his hand a squeeze. The first smile he's had in days makes it way across his face and he squeezes her hand back.
As the days dragged on ahead, their bond grew even tighter. There was a new level of safety and vulnerability that blossomed. Hands would brush more often, hugs turned tighter and longer, if they were able to they'd often be found napping together tangled limbs and all. It was as natural as breathing to seek the other out and before Joe knew it, he was hit with the realization that he was head-over-heels in love with his best friend.
The popping of yet another champagne bottle drags Joe from his mulling and takes in the sight around him with a smile. They are in the Eagles Nest, the war in Europe is over and everyone is finally able to relax and celebrate. He's sitting by Webster and Perco, watching the other's talk and laugh, already more than a little drunk. His smile widens when he catches her eye, sitting next to Malarkey and they salute each other from across the room.
"You ever gonna make a move, Lieb?" Perco's question lands like a bomb right in his stomach.
"What the hell are you talking about?" He looks at the man next to him like he's crazy, but inside he's frantic. Is it that obvious?
"Oh come on, Liebgott. The two of you have been attached at the hip the whole war, even back at training. We've all noticed the stolen looks between you. The wars over, just go for it." Webster gives him a shove, pointedly ignoring the glare Joe shoots at him.
"I gotta take a leak." Joe abruptly stands and leaves before either of them can continue their pestering. They're right, he knows they're right. Since accepting his feelings, the only thing that's been holding him back has been the on-going war. Sure there's still Japan to figure out but right now, their immediate part is over and he doesn't have to worry about dying and leaving her or worse losing her any second to a bullet or bomb.
Not actually needing the bathroom, he finds himself wondering the halls of the Eagles Nest and randomly picking a room to go into. It's spacious with a sitting area, a large comfortable bed sitting against the back wall, a door leading to an adjoining bathroom next to it and doors to the right leading to a balcony. He heads to the balcony, throwing the doors open and leans against the railing taking in the mountains and open valley. It's so quiet and peaceful, he doesn't know how to reconcile it with the horrors the owner and occupants have done to the people of this land.
"Why am I always having to search for you?" A soft, happy voice speaks behind him. Joe turns around and feels his breathe catch in his throat at how beautiful and easy going she looks, leaning around the doorframe to the balcony. When he didn't respond, she stands up a little straighter. "What? Is there something on my face?"
Joe shakes his head and moves to stand in-front of her, raising his hand to trail a finger down her cheek. "You're beautiful."
"How drunk are you?" Her voice is playful, but Joe knew his words were having an effect on her based on the blush she now had.
"Not even tipsy. But drunk or sober, you're still beautiful." His hand cups her cheek, tilts her head up a little to fully meet his eyes and he decides to cross that final line. "I love you. I love you fully and completely; body, mind, and soul. I need you, more than I need to breathe. If you don't feel the same, that's fine. I will lock my heart away to keep you in my life however you wish to be. But the war here is done and I'm out of reasons to not tell you how I feel. Tell me you don't feel the same and I'll respect that, but if you feel even close to what I feel please let me know."
Joe see's tears form in her eyes and for a heartbreaking second he's sure she's going to tell him 'no' and walk away. Then he feels her hands on his face and holds his breathe as she rises on her toes, stopping when her lips are barely brushing his.
"I love you, Joe. I'm yours; body, mind and soul." And then her lips are pressing against his and Joe thinks he's died and gone to heaven.
Their kiss is passionate and slow, taking full advantage that they don't have to rush and can take their time exploring. Joe starts nudging her backwards, back into the main room and towards the bed. A line of clothes marks their path as they help each other be rid of them, kissing freshly exposed shoulders and necks as they go. Soon enough they've managed to be rid of everything and tumble onto the bed in a heap.
Joe leans back just enough to take in the site of her underneath him. Face flushed, lips swollen and glossy from kissing, hair spread out like a halo, chest rising and falling hard as she tries to catch her breathe. He leans his head down pressing kisses to her neck, trailing down her collarbone, around the swell of her breast and ending at her nipple. He takes his time delivering languid licks and sucks, making her skin pucker and rise. Not wanting to leave the other one out of the fun, his hand cups, massages and pinches a little on the flesh there, his other hand hasn't stopped caressing any part of her skin he can reach.
If he has any doubts of how he's making her feel, the gasps and moans falling from her lips dispel them quickly. Soon enough her hands are in his hair and scratching down his back as she wraps her legs around his waist pulling him closer. Joe stops his minstrations on her breast with a groan when his erection is pressed right against her wet core and he can't help but roll his hips into her again. This time they both moan.
"Joe, please. I need you." Her voice is ragged and the lustful look in her eyes almost has him finishing right then. He shifts to the side a little, giving him room to run his hand down her side and cup her core. She's soaking and his brain short circuits a little.
His fingers make quick work of making sure she is coated properly, detouring to her clit to rub until she starts to whimper and pull at him. As he meets her eyes, he raises his fingers to his lips and sucks her taste off of them.
"Goddamn, baby. Next time I'm spending hours down there." He rushes out as he positions himself at her entrance. "But if I don't have you soon, I might die." He looks at her for confirmation that she's ready and when she nods, he starts pushing in slowly.
They groan together at the feel of him sliding into place like a puzzle piece coming home. Once he's bottomed out, he drops down to his elbows, putting more of himself on top of her and rests his forehead against hers. Her thighs tighten around him as she turns her head to kiss him.
"Move. Please." She bites his bottom lip at the same time she scratches his back again.
"Yes ma'am." He presses his lips firmly to her, swallowing the moan she lets out as he pulls out and quickly snaps back in. He finds a steady rhythm, angling his hips just right so he's brushing that sweet spot within her. Her back bows, pressing her chest further into his and exposes her neck to his lips. He doesn't waste any time placing a hard bite where it'll be hard to hide the mark already forming. This spurs something in her and soon her hands are in his hair, tugging his head to the side as she returns the favor.
Joe can tell she starts to get close to her release, as her walls start fluttering around him and her moans start becoming more frequent. He raises himself up, gripping the headboard with one hand and dropping his other hand down to rub her clit.
"I know you're close baby. Look at me as you let go." His voice is deep and commanding. Her eyes immediately lock onto his and his movements pick up speed. A few more hard thrusts and a pinch on her clit and she's moaning his name and clamping down around him. The feeling of her combined with his name falling from her lips like a prayer has him falling right behind her.
As they come down from their highs, they exchange slow kisses and 'I love you's'.
Bonus scene:
Not wanting to waste a beautiful day, the guys had decided to have an impromptu baseball game. Joe stood in his spot, waiting to bat next, sending a smile and wave to the stands where his girl was watching and cheering. They were getting ready for the next play when Winters came strolling across the field. They all crowded around him, fully expecting to hear their deployment orders for fighting Japan. Instead he was giving them the best news they'd heard since VE day. Japan had surrendered. The war, all of it, was finally over.
All the guys started cheering, exchanging hugs and pats on the backs. Joe see's her coming towards them at an easy jog, a curious look on her face. He gives her the biggest smile and runs right up to her, lifting her in his arms and spins her around.
"Japan surrendered. It's over. We're going home." Her smile matches his as she fully takes in his words and hugs him back. Just as quick as it started, Joe stops spinning her and sets her down on her feet, then he's down on one knee, holding her hands.
"Marry me. Come back home with me. Or wherever you wanna live. I don't care. Just marry me, please." Everything dulls around the edges as he holds his breathe, waiting for her response.
"Yes, Joe!" She smiles bright enough to blind the sun and then starts laughing when he jumps back up and starts spinning her around again. The only sound is the cheering of their friends and their hearts beating in sync.

It’s been 7 years since Civil War and I still mourn for the Bucky Barnes story we should’ve gotten.
I mourn for how quickly they showed him integrated back into society after CATWS. One moment he’s almost killing his best friend... and the next moment he’s living on his own and seems just fine. Sure, he’s a little quiet and awkward and sad, but he’s mostly pretty normal. Outside of the first half of Civil War, there’s very little evidence at all that would lead anyone to believe Bucky used to be the world’s most feared assassin, who was trained and molded into the perfect weapon through unimaginable pain and psychological manipulation. This man spent the better part of his life as a ruthless, mindless killing machine programmed to do nothing more than follow orders. You don’t just walk away from that without being fundamentally and irreversibly psychologically altered. Even the removal of the trigger words wouldn’t change that.
To clarify, I’m not talking about his lingering feelings of guilt and sadness. I think Seb has done a great job with getting that part across at least. I’m talking about his behavior. About way he interacts with other people and how he handles situations. He doesn’t act like a formerly-brainwashed ex-assassin who was treated as less than human for literal decades and who, by all accounts, should have the most severe form of PTSD known to man.
I just don’t buy the Bucky we see post-CATWS and particularly post-Civil-War. I don’t buy that Bucky would be joking around and flirting and basically acting like Just Some Guy – a grumpy guy but still Just Some Guy – and his recent haircut sure isn’t helping the situation either. That he wouldn’t always be a little bit on edge, a little bit animal (kinda like the way we see him at the beginning of Civil War but then never again). That being in the heat of battle wouldn’t sometimes make him either shut down or completely snap and go into a violent fugue state where he subconsciously reverts back to the brutally efficient methods of the Winter Soldier (we almost got this in TFATWS but they couldn’t commit).
Now maybe he received some absolutely incredible therapy in Wakanda. Maybe it worked wonders on him! The problem is I don’t buy it because I never saw it. I never got to see him struggle to learn how to be a person again. I never got to see him fight back against the thing Hydra turned him into.
It just sucks because I love everything about the concept of Bucky and the Winter Soldier, but the parts they’ve chosen not to show or address are, in my opinion, the most interesting parts of his character. But more than that, the lack of follow through and disconnect between what he was and who he seems to be now makes it really hard for me to see him as a fully-realized person in canon. It’s like my brain registers perfectly who he was in CATFA/CATWS and even kinda sorta now in TFATWS, but there’s this giant chasm in between them that mentally feels like fuzzy static.
How long did it take him to fully shake off the brainwashing and conditioning? When did he start thinking of himself as a human being with agency again? Did he ever have to fight the desire to return to Hydra, the only thing he’s known for 70 years, or was it an easy choice? How long did it take him to start recovering his memories? Has he recovered all of them? Does he now remember everything that happened before and during his time at Hydra? How long did it take him to stop flinching at every sound and expecting Hydra to track him down? How long did it take him to relearn how to interact with people like a normal person? How did he afford food and shelter between CATWS and CACW? How and why did he end up in Romania? Did he travel there immediately after CATWS or did he live somewhere else first? Did he get actual therapy in Wakanda or did they just work their science-magic to remove the trigger words and send him on his way? Is the the soldier still in there? Does he still have to consciously stop himself from using deadly force every time he’s in a fight? Is that why he deliberately avoids carrying any weapons now?
I have so many questions.
Fortunately we have fic and fanon to help fill the void but we shouldn’t have to. Bucky Barnes is one of the most interesting and unique characters to ever exist. There’s so much good stuff to dig into here and it’s been wasted.
They squandered the original opportunity to explore this part of his character when they turned Cap 3 into an Iron Man film, a decision I will forever be mad about (fuck you RDJ/Tony for stealing Bucky’s movie), but they finally had the perfect chance to make up for that with TFATWS! Bucky was getting his own show (6 hours of content!), and with it, plenty of time to really dig into his psyche and lingering trauma! I had hoped to see him relapsing a bit and falling into old patterns. Or maybe being triggered by something and having a panic attack. Or even just talking about his time in Hydra and how it felt to be used like that and his struggles to regain his humanity afterwards (instead they fucking gave Hawkeye the emotional “I was a weapon” speech that Bucky rightfully deserved). But other than that opening nightmare, a few brief teasing lines from Zemo about the solider still being in there (which was never followed through on), and the shittiest excuse for “therapy” I’ve ever seen, we really got nothing.
From everything they’ve shown us, and particularly from the ending of TFATWS, it’s clear Marvel believes Bucky has already “healed” and there’s little left to discuss or explore and it makes me incredibly sad.

Hoenheim is one of my favorite characters in the OG FMA manga and Brotherhood. He made me love the sad immortal that hates themself trope, and in general I find the combination of failed father figure, gentle kind person, and the violence he accidently did to his people make for a dynamic character.
But I do 100% think FMA made the other characters far too quick to forgive Hoenheim for leaving the boys.
In the manga, it was directly said that Hoenheim wrote back home but in the anime you get NOTHING. Either way, the man left for a decade, during the most important period of his children's lives as children... because he felt like a monster. Not because he was actually doing things to his kids, but HE wanted to live like a human.
It's shitty. It's awful. One of the people that Ed and Al were supposed to rely on most left because he couldn't get over his own misery. Instead of waiting even a few years to make sure they could even take care of themselves better before leaving, he left before they could even really remember him at all.
I say this not because I don't think it was a good character decision. In fact I think it's tragic in a way that the series needs. The lack of clear lines between monsters and people, where one of Hoenheim's worst decisions is leaving his wife and kids, something that any person can do.
Hoenheim's real flaw when it comes to his family is not valuing that people want him to be there.
Which makes his final offer to Ed to sacrifice himself take on a different light.
In canon, the manga/anime make it clear that Ed calling Hoenheim a shitty father was meant to be as much Ed chastising Hoenheim for not understanding they won't use philosopher stones as it is an acknowledge that Ed accepts him as his father.
But to me, it shows that Hoenheim still hasn't learned why leaving was such an awful blow to the family. Yes, Trisha died because he wasn't there but even if he came back ten years later, did he still expect it to be from a loving family? Did Hoenheim expect the world to stand still while he left?
Hoenheim is still sacrificing himself after all this damn time. He still doesn't see that being there for his kids could invaluable. Maybe they grew up without him, and hell, maybe he doesn't deserve a second chance after so long, but for the boys, making sure you live to the next day is their entire philosophy. And Hoenheim, is willing to give that next day up.
In context, he's giving himself up for his boys after all this time of putting his own feelings first, but he would still be gone. What's worse, in Ed's perspective it's an impossible choice. If Ed couldn't have thought of another way to get Al back, Hoenheim basically offered Ed a chance to kill him in exchange for his brother.
You know. Killing. The one thing that Ed will not fucking do.
Hoenheim doesn't understand Ed. He also even after all this time doesn't get that living for them and to move forward would be the best thing he could do.
So yeah. I adore Hoenheim but the manga/anime kinda does a clumsy job with him. It does such a good job of setting Hoenheim up as looming negative premise in the beginning and then the story overcorrects in trying to make you like him that it forgets that, yeah, leaving your wife and kids for a decade is kinda bad actually!!!
It doesn't help that no one else is angry at Hoenheim. Izumi knew the boys as small children, presumably orphans and yet greets Hoenheim warmly. In the manga the people of Risembol are baffled on his arrival but otherwise move on. Pinako WHO BASICALLY HELPED RAISED THEM is just sorta neutral towards him. Even Al isn't angry. He just wants his dad back which is fine, but it leaves Ed's anger as an outlier, like it's childish of him not to understand.
By the time of his death, Hoenheim doesn't really learn anything. He's forgiven because he really was a good dude and he felt really bad about leaving for a decade so he can totally be forgiven by everyone right?
Right.
So yeah. Hoenheim? Great character, but awful dad which is part of why he's a good character but the story really pulls its punches about him.

Texas angst?
Why of course :)
Despite what he might tell you, his immune system is absolute sh*t and he gets sick a lot, though he usually works it off and there’s a 50/50 chance as to whether it gets better or worse.
^sorta related to the hc above: heat exhaustion. Yeah. He’s suffered from it on more than one occasion yet he still works outside when it’s boiling hot for WAY too long.
^oh yeah he also has asthma but refuses to use his inhaler cuz he’s afraid of being seen as week. Same goes for his iron supplements and meds that his therapist gave him.
If he gets into a serious fight that’s going too far, either the person he’s fighting has to give up, or someone has to separate them. There’s no other way for it to end. Texas is going to fight till his very last breath, and would rather die than accept defeat.
poor baby is insecure about the little bit of pudge on his lower belly 😔
(this is sorta happy but also sad-ish) whenever Texas is missing his mom, who’s name was Maria, he’ll go sit down on the beach and just stare out onto the ocean for hours since it reminds him of her (not to mention, the name "Maria" means "of the sea"). He also named his chihuahua Maria, after his mother.
He hates that he has to listen to what his government tells him to do, but if he doesn’t, his handlers will hurt them. One of the worst parts is, is that Texas thinks that they’re allowed to do this. The State Handlers are NOT, under ANY circumstances, allowed to harm the states. Texas doesn’t know this. Even if he did, he’s too scared to tell anyone.
Texas cannot handle seeing any animals die. He can’t. He will cry. Even if it’s a movie. Oklahoma tried teasing him about it and Louisiana nearly strangled him for it. Everyone needs a Loui in their life. (TW: s3lf h4rm and dr^g and 4lcoh0l mention under the cut, but I’m also gonna include some normal hc’s cuz why the hell not)
Texas does alot of stuff that he doesn’t know counts as self harm (ex: taking REALLY hot showers, biting himself, pulling at his hair, not eating for extended periods of time, etc…).
I’m not gonna say he smokes weed and cigarettes, but I’m not gonna say he doesn’t.
Yes he does in fact drink alcohol to numb the pain.
Normal-ish hc’s!
If you decide to ask what’s in his cup, prepare to be mildly horrified (or not). What’s in his cup? Well dear reader. Straight up whiskey, at least 10 shots of caffeine and espresso, a few red bulls and a C4 (the energy drink). This man is not okay (i promise) /ref
To the surprise of pretty much the whole statehouse, Texas does in fact listen to hyperpop, ESPECIALLY Odetari and 6arelyhuman (fun fact: they’re both from Texas. Yeah.). Sometimes you’ll hear him muttering under his breath: "hey scene sl*t we’re still cutting tonight, that’s why my wrists are so sore-". The only state that wasn’t surprised was surprisingly Louisiana. Cuz him and Texas make song recommendations to each other and they have the same music taste (except Loui doesn’t listen to country alot-).
Texas👏Does👏Trickriding👏. It👏Terrifies👏The👏Others👏.
He also makes knives and daggers out of random rocks his finds and he’s (not)surprisingly good at it.
^he makes slime too and you can pry that off my dead cold hands.
Me when,, me when I torture the blorbos,,, 👉👈 (I’m so notsorry):

you spoke about Arthur's capability to love but what about Francis? Is his view of love jaded by the years? I think the one who still holds some sort of romantic streak is Alfred, who's obviously the type of guy to have huge hopes and dreams about love, mostly unrealistic and over the top only focusing on getting what he wants. Just wondering, I find your view interesting
OH boy! I mostly agree with youu!
François is someone whos been around for so long that any kind of expectation of 'true love' is thrown out the window, even burried in the depts of the Seine, erroded with the ages. Though, has always been self serving, naivity of youth still gave him hope and belief in love to a certain point. Now however, he is still romanticising the concept yet never practicing it himself. He can read love poems, watch sad french movies shot in black and white, yet he is a cynical man. It's the duality that makes this man so complex.
Speaking of complexities and duality: Alfred is a good example of someone who is both idealistic yet observant. In his heart, deep down there hides a spark of desire for that 'human love' he sees people experience. However, he is intelligent enought to know that will not happen. not only due to his nation-person nature, but becouse of who he is. Alfred is willing to sacrifice anything and everything to get his way. "If I can't play by my rules, I'm playing a different game" sorta thing. that usually doesn't work out well with love and such strong emotions. He isn't willing to negotiate, he isn't willing to settle and he isn't willing to let someone else 'win'. I wanted to use the word selfish so many times, but frankly I don't think it fits. He isn't selfish in the pure sense of the word. Whatever he does is guided by the belief that he is doing what is best and optimal. In a sense his 'selfishness' comes from having a hard time seeing other ways and perspectives on certain matters.
It's hard to keep Alfreds attention on anyone for an extended period of time and Alfred knows this. so in this example, his belief is that it's best to not engage in any long lasting romantic flings and not establish emotional connections. Better for the other person that is. In truth he is vey uncomfortable with exposing a non perfect and slightly unstable side of himself.
The Hollywood smile can hide all.
He's a start up who came onto the superpower playing field at a time when expectations and requirements were too high. A colonial bumpkin who has to prove himself everyday. Prove that he is up to the challange despite actually having the ability to raise hellfire. An echo of "He is too young", "He lacks experience" and "He isn't the sort" following him with every step. I wanna relate this to what you asked about his ability and want of true love: Alfred needs to suceed. He is in a corridor and the only thing he is looking at is the big door at the end. he doesn't have time, nor is he willing to take a break while running to that door. Alfred knows what he want and has to do, so love is a distraction he isnt willing or able to give to anyone for long enought to matter.
Absolutely wild and long rant. i'm sorry if its uncomprehensible or typo infested my autocorrect is not working waaaaaahhhhhh

gravity falls queer headcanons, just for funsies <3
i'm gonna put these under a readmore actually because Wow There Is A Lot More Shit Than I Expected. gaze upon my based ass gender and sexuality takes at yer own risk /j
Dipper i think the general consensus in the gf fandom is that he's transmasc. and as a trans guy i LOVE this hc!!!! but i Also love to see dipper portrayed as other trans identities. like... tgirl dipper is also a favorite of mine, she holds a very special place in my heart. nby or genderfluid dipper even!!! i could go on, but bottom line is he is whatever i want him to be at any given time <3 as for his sexuality? probably some flavor of acespec but he's personally unlabeled, previously questioning but i figure he eventually decided it's not worth his time trying to find a label that fits. he definitely likes people of all genders though
Mabel mabel is ABSOLUTELY the sorta person to aggressively hoard gender labels and pronouns like a crow collecting shiny things. crunch has ALL the gender and ALL the pronoun. in fact, sometimes it makes him kinda sad when someone who knows bee goes by all pronouns exclusively uses "she" for fluff (not that this happens often!!! a quick glare from the grunks and the offender is put in their place lol). she lovessss femininity and actively embraces it all the time but it's not ONLY a girl- xey id as an autigender xenocollector girlboy and also as pan and nebularomantic!!!! boom probably knits their flags into all cake's sweaters too >:D
Ford previously identified as a binary trans man, but after spending three decades in another dimension and interacting with different species with other perceptions of gender, they now id as transmasc nonbinary. he doesn't mind he/him or they/them but he also likes neopronouns! (better believe ford has neos in languages you've never even heard of!!!) especially space-themed or science-themed ones. him and mabel definitely get along over using neos btw. also rift is demiromantic, demisexual and gay :) he was overjoyed when they found out about the ace/aro spectrum- because for a long time they felt like the fact that they only seldom felt attraction meant something was wrong with sol.
Stan trans nonbinary man who isn't picky with labels. while him and ford are both transmasc and nonbinary, he has a VERY different experience with it than his brother- he's very much a man, except she also likes to be a woman sometimes just for fun. stan probably spent a lot of time in his youth trying to be hypermasculine so he could pass better and fit in but now he Doesn't Care and just has fun confusing people by being a grumpy old guy who's also a lady sometimes. prefers he/him but genuinely doesn't care if people use other pronouns for her. also my man is bisexual as FUCK, mostly equal attraction to all genders but plays up his love for women a lot becausee... growing up during the 60s will do that to you i think.
BONUS ROUNDDDDDDDDDDD
Soos unlabeled sexuality, genderfluid and/or nonbinary with left bro in the words of one wise anon on tumblr dot com. uses he/him but other pronouns are fine too
Wendy abrosexual transmasc tomboy with no desire to medically transition. likes to present as masculine but only sometimes. gets along with stan over gender fuckery! uses she/he
Pacifica transfem lesbian, mainly uses she/they until mabel introduces her to jewel neopronouns and ruby immediately steals them
Fiddleford greyromantic, bi and polyamorous binary trans man! like wendy, he's never cared much for the idea of medically transitioning. uses he/it but doesn't mind other pronouns
Bill aromantic, asexual and agender babey. uses any/all pronouns, though people usually default to he/him, which she doesn't really mind either!

Super-Heroes, Relationships, and Catfishing
Tumblr media
In the latest episode of "My Adventures With Super-Man", the story took a rather interesting direction on how they approached the relationship between Clark and Lois.
This choice caused some people (and by that I mean Twitter) to feel like the same thing that happened with the character of Amber from Invincible was sorta happening again, although to a not-as-bad degree.
I was a little surprised to be honest because I felt this was handled worse in Superman than it was handled in Invincible. So I took some time to ponder about both situations, trying to consider everyone's perspective, and reorganize my opinion on the topic and how I feel about each case.
I also felt this could be interesting to talk about so, let me share my thought process...
(spoilers for both shows)
First of all, let's talk about secrets and relationships by using a certain Japanese animated movie as an example, "Wolf Children."
Tumblr media
For those who don't know, this movie is a story about a woman who develops a romantic relationship with a guy that can turn into a wolf. He keeps it a secret at first but eventually reveals to her his secret and she accepts him for what he is.
As time passes, the woman eventually gives birth to two kids who inherited their father's wolf powers and thus also can turn into wolves depending on their emotions.
Only problems is, the father who knows all about how wolf people work ends up dying trying to catch a bird for his kids to eat (which should be sad but it's such a silly way of dying that I couldn't help but laugh when I first saw it), leaving the mother alone with no idea on how to raise children that are half-human and half-wolf.
Tumblr media
The entire movie is just watching this poor lady trying to handle a situation that she clearly is not prepared for. The husband told her next to nothing about how wolf people work or how to take care of them, and she has no idea on where to find other wolf people to ask for help, making this whole thing into a guessing game of what's right and what's wrong.
The reason I bring this up is because I feel it's important to note how extremely selfish it is for the father to get involved with a partner and start a family with her without ever preparing her for what kind of life he would be throwing her into.
He never considered what it would be like for her if he ended up dying, and not only that, his soul appears in her dreams after he passes away to basically go "You better not quit on them! I'm guilt-tripping you, lol!"
Of course everything turns out okay in the end, but still, this movie is a great example of what's like being in a relationship and having to learn how to deal with aspects of someone's life you completely were not prepared for.
It shows the weight of accepting someone into your life and what this really means.
When there are aspects about your life that greatly affects the people you're interested in, it's your job to let them know about it if you plan to start a relationship with them so they can be prepared or so they can know if they want to be with you or not.
Tumblr media
I think this is important to keep in mind when thinking about relationships with Super-Heroes, because the way I see it, a hero who keeps a secret identity and develops a romance with a civilian is not very far from an act of catfishing.
A superhero is someone who could die at any moment and leaving their partner alone, someone who has several enemies who would love to use their loved ones as a way to hurt them, and is someone who constantly has to take time out of their schedule to help out those in need.
Dating a superhero, or a person who happens to be a very big figure with a very significant career, is not an easy job, and it's not for everyone.
When you don't let the person you're dating know that you're bringing a lot of baggage into the relationship that they will need to deal with, you lose all the moral ground.
It's not that you have baggage, it's that you didn't prepare them for that baggage.
Tumblr media
And again, that's not that different from someone committing catfishing on the internet.
You're pretending to be something you're not to lure someone into a relationship with you by omitting all the facts about you that might affect their judgment, all the struggles they might face, the changes that they will have to adjust to, the people that they might no longer be able to interact with.
You're cornering someone, and you're not letting them know about it.
Now… With all that said, how do I feel about the way Invincible and Superman tackled this theme?
Tumblr media
In Invincible (the show not the comic), Amber broke up with Mark because she found out who he was and kept waiting for him to tell her the truth, but he never did and he wasn't planning on doing it until he felt he was about to lose her.
Except by the time he finally did tell her, Amber had already lost faith in Mark because, as Eve put it, she felt like he was just "stringing her along for five months."
A lot of people don't like this scene and Amber as a character because it felt like she was blaming Mark for being a hero and disregarding all the good he was doing and all he was sacrificing in order to help out people while not being understanding of the hard position he's in.
youtube
I'm honestly kinda mixed on this...
On one hand, if she knew what he was going through, why didn't she make the first move and cleared everything so they could try actually working through this together? You know, trying to make the life of the guy who's constantly having his head smacked against the pavement a little easier?
On the other hand... The fact that Mark has a noble and important job does not absolve him of the fact he was promising her a relationship without letting her know what she was in for.
Yeah, she found out, but what if she hadn't? Mark would have dropped new information into her lap that would completely change everything about their future together.
If this was like, after a week into dating, then sure, he's right in not knowing if he should tell her or not, but five freaking months? I feel like by that time he should already be sure if he really wants to stay with her or not and if she could handle the truth or not.
It's a delicate situation but... I feel like I'm siding with Amber in this one. I feel like Mark should have been honest much earlier or have broken up with her himself if he wasn't ready to let her know what kind of life she would have to deal with, and I feel it's fair for Amber to feel like she was being treated like an idiot for not being told what kind of relationship she would need to prepare for.
It's not even that it would be a hard to adjust relationship for her to accept, it's the fact he kept acting like he could control everything when he clearly couldn't. He wasn't acting like they were partners in a relationship, he was acting like she was just a thing he needed to handle so she would be happy... which, honestly? Feels like a very common relationship problem.
Someone trying to be the one handling everything without letting your partner help you out in it so you two can deal with it together because you don't trust their ability to accept you or don't think they have anything to contribute.
Mind you... I feel like the scene was a little too rushed and the big problems to address weren't made very clear, which end up making Amber look like a kid that's mad their best friend didn't share a secret with them.
I like the idea and the message, but I don't think they executed in the best way they could.
Tumblr media
And now finally, the Lois and Clark scene from episode 5.
In this episode, Lois snaps at Clark for hiding about being Superman after spending a whole episode trying to get him to confess to her the truth, resulting in her trying to catch him with his guard down and eventually resulting in her throwing herself off a building so he could fly and save her.
The two end up fighting, Lois because she feels betrayed and Clark because she's not seeing where he's coming from and ending on a sort of "We're no longer friends!" moment.
From what I saw, people seem more forgiving of this scene than the one from Invincible.
My take on it is... I actually think Lois is 100% in the wrong in this situation, and I much prefer how it was handled in Invincible.
Keeping in mind, Clark and Lois have flirted multiple times throughout the series so far, but they are not in a relationship.
Clark doesn't owe Lois a thing. If anything, Lois owes Clark a lot for all the times she herself tricked him, used him, and had her life saved by him. Not to mention, Clark has said to her that he himself is still figuring out things, so even if he wanted to tell her, what would he even have to tell?
This isn't a "How could you not tell me you were this kind of person when you asked me out?" situation, this is just a person who doesn't feel comfortable talking about his secret not talking about his secret, a very harmless secret that does not affect her whatsoever.
The most you can say is that he kept her running around on a wild goose chase after Superman even though Superman was right there the whole time... Except he didn't? Cause we see multiple times Clark as Clark going to Lois "Maybe you should stop obsessing over Superman?" But she simply refused to listen to him.
So, unless I'm missing another point of view that I didn't consider yet (which could always happen, I'm always ready to be proven wrong and take in a new perspective), I feel like Lois has no leg to stand on, and I feel like the Lois scene is honestly much worse than the Amber scene.
Tumblr media
Now... Does this mean I hate Lois? Of course not, because the story isn't over yet. All it means is that I'm gonna be very skeptical towards her character depending on how they handle her moving forward.
I love good redemption arcs. I love stories about characters making a mistake, realizing it, and then learning from it and thus teaching the viewer a valuable lesson they might need to learn too.
If they are to use this as some sort of setup to explore why someone would be so unhealthily obsessed with the truth to the point where they would ignore their own friend's feelings I would be interested in seeing it.
If they were to use it to teach some lesson about the importance of respecting boundaries and not being so demanding of facts 24/7 and so entitled towards crucial information always being in your lap with no effort (which is a lesson the internet desperately needs to learn), I would be down for it.
They could use it to teach a lesson about how sometimes you just don't need to know everything.
I don't know, I'm hopeful.
Maybe they make good use of this direction the story took, maybe they don't. We'll have to wait and see.
Like I said above, I do think there's a time and place to share certain things with certain people. I don't think this was the time and place or the thing to share, but I still wanna see where they go with it before making my call.
Fingers crossed!

Rambles incoming :D
idk, i just... I FREAKING LOVE the dazaku writers in pixiv and lofter. I am not fluent in japanese or chinese, heck im not even fluent in english, i read them using google translate (i want to thank google for dazai obama) and its wonky af but THE FEELS!? It hurt, it grabbed me in the lungs and heart. The translation is off but damn the emotions are conveyed perfectly.
And... hm.. i noticed that, how hopeful they are about dazaku relationship? Yeah, they are not good-ish, kinda, sorta abusive. But like, there's hope? You understand? By no means there are lot of writers that don't hesitate to dunk on dazai for what he did to akutagawa. But the things, there's still something.
Im thinking how to say this.
Akutagawa's hate.
Dazai's taunts.
Akutagawa's want for approval.
Dazai withholding that approval.
If dazai don't like akutagawa that much, shouldn't he just gave him that approval and be done with? I know he already acknowledge him way before. He even gush on him to odasaku. akutagawa would probably wont bother him again. But then he doubled down on him, Atsushi is better than you ;). Why taunt him with Atsushi? Atsushi is his coworker, not a student specificaly (something that a lot of writers emphasize, very neat).
Why dazai? do you need him to go crazy for you :D bahahaha loser. Is it because akutagawa the first thing you own that is actually yours? yours that you got to choose yourself? you freaking gave him a mating offer by killing his friends' murders. you idiot. you sad man. what a sad little man. do you want akutagawa to kill you someday so its still considerd suicide by your own hand/creation? you sad sad wet man? you really think that he'd hate you enought to kill you? really? you, the man who gave the akutagawa sibling a home and warm meal? really? hmm? hmm?
see, that's why... call it shallow, but i don't think akutagawa could ever really hate dazai? ish? kinda? the man did save him, even though then he got thrown to another kind of hell on earth. He gave him home, meal, and hope. The meaning of life. Hahahah indeed he's like a dog. that makes dazai that type of dog owners who made a shitty job at taking care of their puppies. the kind that was excited first and (sorta, kinda, idk) neglect/abuse them when they don't do their tricks properly.
i only know games bcs i watch rtgame's youtube, and when he played "Slay the Princess" and then proceed to search about them on tumblr, yeah. "The opposite of love is not hate, but indiference" and yeah, i believe that it also true to dazaku. because in a way, they are in this two person tango of chasing, taunting, i need you to be my eyes, you've become stronger, can you give me the meaning of life. Hate is really visible and the love is so between the lines. But they are not really indifferent to each other.
The love is there! the love is there. yeah, the love is there.
also.
i'm not sure how i came into this conclusion but, "akutagawa doesn't need dazai, but dazai need akutagwa" and yeah, maybe their bsd counterpart is reversed from their real life, but the essential part is still there? Thats my delusion is. I just wanna said that in the end.
if you manage to reach this part. Uh, thank you for reading. Sorry for the typo. I hope its understandable. suffer with meeeee!

mag 161 - dwelling
this opening 100% gutted me the first time around, but it's such a great intro to the season. season five in general is great at balancing bittersweet levity with the really hard, emotional stuff, and opening with a scene that in itself is mostly fluff but in context really becomes quite sad is a pretty good way of setting things up. especially since it reminds us of what we're really loosing. after the whole show's been a downward spiral into this low point, it's actually quite brilliant to get a really jaring side-by-side comparison to how things were at the start
jon's never been so low. this is the first time since season two that he's unwilling to do something about the misery. and sure, it's because he doesn't think there's anything to do about it, but he's really a man of action and desperate attempts, and seeing him just sorta give up and give in really demonstrates where he's at right now
martin on the other hand is continuing his long-standing pattern of denial and optimism. and it's serving him quite well! he is dealing with this much better than he could be, and considering he just got seperated from the lonely it's kinda impressive that he's not letting the existensial dread set in. martin's not the kind of person who gives up, but rather carries on no matter what. he has a hard time accepting the truth when it doesn't line up with what he wants - a character trait that plays a huge role all throughout this season

for the if they had a kid ask thingy , glass and kondraki
Ooooh one of my never thought of Rarepair!!!
Name: I'm not sure exactly what first name they would have but I think they would have a very gender neutral first name like Riley or Ash but I can also see them having a name from a classic literature or a good novel courtesy of Kondraki.
As for last names, I feel like they would take Glass as the last name, and Kondraki as a middle name. Kondraki insisted because he already has Draven and wanted Simon to have a turn this time? If that makes sense?
Gender: A girl! Can be cis or transfem but they're definitely not very feminine.
General Appearance: Very tomboy-ish and masculine clothing. I think overalls are pretty fitting. And also light up sneakers.
In terms of physical appearance, their hair are definitely curly. Like. VERY VERY curly. I also think that they look like a messy-tidy kinda person. Like, their clothes are ironed and well-coordinated and very very fitting and looks nice but there's also this kind of mess to it because they're very out and about so it's not 100% aligned.
They're also like. Pretty built. Not like big beefy but like. Definitely someone that looks like they work out and can fight.
Great posture, chipped tooth, kind eyes and hearty grin.
Personality:
I feel like they're going to be very loud and expressive. Also very, very chaotic as the Kondraki family are but in a more like, subtle way due to Glass' influence. I also think they're extremely extroverted and social which is surprising considering both Simon and Kondraki are more on the introverted spectrums.
They have a good heart and are VERY, very sympathetic towards people. Really tries their best to help people. A very headstrong and determined person which can be her downfall because it gets to the point she stops listening to other people thinking she knows best.
Special Talents:
Oh man. This kid is wayyy too talented with a blade. Whether it be a knife, dagger, switchblade, sword or even a butter knife, this kid understands and can use it really well. I mean, look at her parents.
Also has incredible cooking abilities. Kondraki is a great cook and Simon's a great baker so she ends up knowing a lot about cooking and baking, is very familiar with a lot of flavours, textures and spices. Also knows a wide variety of dishes. Honestly, she's a really good person to turn to for food feedback.
Who they like better:
Kondraki! He's the cool dad who taught her fencing and yes even though Simon does teaches her how to use knives, they still think swords are cooler so Kondraki it is!
Who they take after more:
On a surface level personality wise, you think they'd take after Glass more because of how they appear level-headed and kind but man, this kid is pure CHAOS in the Kondraki way.
Personally I think they take after Kondraki more because Kondraki is very very very present in their life (he very regrets him being emotionally unavailable to Draven so he tries his goddamned hardest with this one)
She reacts a lot like Glass, but thinks and feels a lot like Kondraki.
Personal Head canon:
I think when she grows up, she does become an agent much to Glass and Kondraki's absolute horror. Glass is horrified because he was an agent once and man was it rough being on so like he has absolutely no idea why she wants to be an agent and Kondraki is horrified because like, "Draven already gives me a heart attack every month from the shit he deals with and now you're going to add to that too".
Star and planet girly. Would've become an astrophysicist but can't stand the idea of sitting and researching inside all day. They prefer getting hands on and yes astronaut is an option but the idea of kinda sorta being that far from home makes them sad. They like visiting their parents frequently whenever they have time (and get free food while at it).
Face Claim:
Honestly the closest thing I can associate her with is Cassie from FNAF SB Ruin

SORTA SURPRISE STARTER ⇢ @diademreigned
A'atahni has always been... partial to pretty men. Roegadyn were fine enough to look at, as were highlanders, but more often than not, they were under the false impression that being well-endowed meant they were also good in bed. So those were often the ones he teased, that he took to bed, only to leave to without ever having shed his clothes and an extra coinpurse.
Viera men were hard to come by, much less Hrothgar and Au ra. The others were only limited by their personalities, but it still narrowed the pool considerably.
Fortunately, someone had caught his eyes that fit into that narrow pool of options. There, in the Drowning Wench, was a man that fit precisely what he was looking for. He had a cute face—innocent, almost, though he was sure that wasn't the case—and he smelled a bit fishy, as was to be expected from someone carrying a fishing rod.
He wasn't drinking. Instead, he was having a meal. How sensible, a man not drinking midday. Likely, he was talking a break and return to fishing after, which meant it was a prime opportunity for A'atahni for either finding out that this man wasn't worth his time and would be better suited to getting tied to a bed and robbed or having a bit of fun on the side.
A rarity, these days, given how much time he spent doing the former when he wasn't caring for his daughter.
"You," he starts, sitting down next to him at the table without seeking an invitation first. Bold, as he ever is. "Look like you could use a bit of company."
Tumblr media
A smile slips across his face easily, familiar though it doesn't quite meet his eyes in a way that would betray his sincerity to anyone observant enough to notice. A'atahni could count the men that had on one hand. It dwindled to a sad, sorry none where the drunk ones were concerned.
Most men saw the glossy lips and vibrant red painted above his eyes and that was enough for them.
From here, he could better see the dense freckles across his cheeks.
"You've freckles. Cute," he says, resting his hand underneath his chin to lean into it. He doesn't reach out to touch—not yet—but oh, he has every intention to, if this goes well.
"My name is A'atahni. What might yours be?"

The ATLA staff talk about their favorite ships on the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast
John O'Bryan
Janet Varney: John, how do you fare in the world of ships? Do you have a ship that you enjoy? And do you know what we’re talking about when we say that?
John O’Bryan: Oh yeah, yeah, of course. I would have gone Katara-Zuko.
Janet Varney: Zutara!
Dante Basco: Zutara, Zutara, see, that’s what I’m talking about, John.
John O’Bryan: So, I know that we lost that fight, but…
Dante Basco: Yeah, we did. But was it a fight? Was there talks about that in the writer’s room? Inquiring minds want to know.
John O’Bryan: Yeah, yeah, I think definitely that stuff came up a lot. There are, I’m sure there’s some other, there’s some dimension, some alternate dimension though, where they are a thing.
Joshua Hamilton
Janet Varney:  How do you feel about shipping now? Did you have a ship? Again, John O’Bryan was like, I feel like we argued over the Zutara versus the Kataang. Like, you know, you have a sense of where you think you want the story to go. Did you have ships like that, before you even knew what ships were?
Joshua Hamilton: No, I did not. But we did fight! He was right, I do remember arguing about that. Kataang and—I’m Zutara. You know, I’m just an originalist.
Janet Varney: Oh, there you go! Dante’s so sad he’s not here right now.
Joshua Hamilton: I read the Bible a long time ago and it said they’re supposed to get together. So yeah, I still think we did it wrong.  *laughs* No, I’m just kidding.
Janet Varney: Oh, Zutara ship, I hear you loud and clear.
I guess by “Bible”, Hamilton is referring to the I.P. Bible which outlined the initial proposal for the series. Zuko and Katara do not end up together in it because nobody ends up in a relationship. Contrary to the popular belief that "Katara and Aang ending up together was planned from the start".
However, the relationship between Zuko and Katara becomes a major focus in the original Book 3 because Zuko and Katara end up separated from the rest of Team Avatar and have to work together. The reason why Zuko chose Katara to help him fight Azula in the series is because the two were originally imprisoned in a fortress and had to fight Azul (the original male version of Azula) after escaping. Katara is also the first person to trust Zuko in both versions. It’s interesting to see how some of the early concepts they proposed evolved over time.
But oh man, Katara was the only female character! The I.P. Bible's Team Avatar was composed of Aang, Toph (also a male character back then), Sokka, and Zuko. I think I would have shipped Zutara even with their I.P. Bible versions since Zuko develops a strong bond with Katara as a friendship. He is not a part the obnoxious love triangle Katara is stuck in with "nice" guy Aang and jerk jock Toph. Even from early on, you can tell the romance and female representation in the series suffered from painfully male writing.
Giancarlo Volpe
Dante Basco: Giancarlo, what are your favourite ships on the show? Or do you have a favorite ship?
Giancarlo Volpe: Oh man, that’s such a good question...
Janet Varney: We already know he wanted to have that image of Suki looking off at Sokka.
Dante Basco: He was rooting for Suki early in the game!
Giancarlo Volpe: Yeah, that was a fun one. I mean, I always thought that Aang and Katara were supposed to end up together. So I think that I sort of just believed that. But my wife always insisted that Zuko and Katara made a better match.
Dante Basco: See, I need to meet your wife. We saw some things! You know, we saw some things.
Janet Varney: Yeah! Zutara!
Giancarlo Volpe: And it was a little bit, like, I was in denial. I was like, “no, they don’t!”. But now I sorta...see what she means...uhh...so.
Tim Hedrick
Janet Varney: Do you have any ships?
Dante Basco: Give us some ships, give us some ships! Give us some feels, give us some shipping feels here, Tim.
Tim Hedrick: I always enjoyed the romance of Sokka and Suki. And it’s just so, you know, it’s nice. Because I feel like Sokka, you know, he has a rough time when he starts dating the Moon. But he has a relationship that works out for him too.
Dante Basco: Very rough. Yeah.
Tim Hedrick: Sokka needs some love, you know.
Janet Varney: I love that.
Dante Basco: I like that, I like that. And I love Suki. She’s so powerful.
Tim Hedrick: Yeah, it just works out. You just feel good about it. It’s like, yeah, these two, they’re all right. No drama.
Janet Varney: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.

srry for doing this in your inbox but ykk the phrase “character assassination” rlly kinda sums up my issue with cdream in the final stream bc on reflection ctommy was really not the problem there. i think a Lot of things couldve been fixed if, when ctommy tried empathizing, cdream went really quiet (leaving ctommy to argue w cpunz) and then lashed out when ctommy hit the nail on the head…. yk? like hes always done up until now because he doesnt like it when people that are Against Him understand him. and it coming from ctommy in particular would make him feel unsafe. but by getting mad abt it, it would reinforce to the audience that ctommys analysis is right And would highlight a similarity in both of their personalities (irrational aggression as a coping mechanism to deal with unwanted emotions). like i dunno i think it would make the stuff they were going for more poignant if they made cdream act like ctommy at his worst while ctommy is, at least emotionally, at his most clear. it would be a really nice mirror without muddying the original intent, which was to highlight cdreams humanity after the aggressive deification they did directly beforehand . iiiiii dunnnooo (hi mari)
HELIII HI BACK!!!!
and. yeah, man. there is so much that could have saved that ending scene for me and even this right here is one of those things. like, i love cdream as a character! for the longest time i thought he was really, really cool and i got excited to see him on screen!! and a massive part of that excitement was that he was unequivocally A Guy That Went Too Far. that is cdreams character summary—a man that maybe could have been good, but let his obsession with the fixing the past and taking control take him farther than he could ever hope to he redeemed. and i loved the little moments that made him human in the story!! the parts when he was afraid, or emotional, or had his plans foiled—those were GOOD. they made him REAL. i did not like cdream bc i wanted him to win all the time.
character assassination is the phrase i chose and character assassination is right. cdream is obsessed with control. he Cannot, under any circumstances, be wrong. his need for control makes him scary and sadistic and ready to do THE most fucked up bullshit (refer to the LITERAL SAW TRAP FROM FINALE STREAM #3) anyone on the server has done. this guarded, angry, fucked-up-beyond-recognition man will not bend because some kid almost got him right. and if he did bend, he certainly would not go soft. the irrational aggression you mentioned is so much better snd makes SO much more sense because like—I CAN SEE THAT! i can SEE cdream lashing out doubling down, i can see him throwing every angry phrase against the wall to see what sticks, i can see him desperate to hurt ctommy one last time. and it functions beyond that, too, because it doesn't leave punz (who tbh having him do staged disc finale was a bad decision but eh) useless, it doesn't make cdreams final moments sympathetic, it doesn't make us feel sorry for a literal abuser. or at least, not sorry in an "oh youre so sad and baby :(" way but more of a "man. this obsessive fucker lost everything, huh" sorta way.
its so sad because SO many little changes could have had us keep the exact same plot and redeem that ending but. Man. ty for talking heli <3
