Mob Psycho 100 is literally the best coming of age story out there.
Mob's slow but steady emotional growth, the way he started working out because he wanted to get buff on a whim (to get popular) only to find genuine joy and satisfaction in it, gosh, the whole overarching plotline of the ownership of his thoughts and feelings, discovering and accepting himself while considering everything and everyone around him. Accepting the truth that the openings are always talking about; your life is your own, everyone can be special because nobody is special, you're the only one of you. The way this show tackles the life-changing stages (puberty, going from a flippant person to a reliable adult, stepping into the world when you've hidden from it for so long, etc) just can't be beaten. The way Mob's emotions are visceral and confusing, but he keeps seeking out answers and hoping to grow.. he's awesome!
Along with Mob, everyone else grows too; Reigen learns humility and takes ownership of the fact he genuinely loves running his silly little psychic shop, even if he doesn't take much seriously in life at all. Ritsu coming to terms with his self-image and allowing himself to be a kid instead of a star student, instead of aiming to be The Best; and him learning to make friends of his own and accept himself and his brother and the people around him and see everyone for who they are - people. Just. Everyone accepting that fear is natural - of danger, of living, of being yourself - but also that fear shouldn't stop you from being true to yourself and doing what you want to do at that moment.
Every character, no matter how big or small, grows so much throughout the story, and I'm so proud of them. I'm glad I got to grow with them.
I just :( I love this whole story so much :(

Libraries are important
My Silent Gen grandparents like to write me long emails and letters about everything going on in their lives. Today my grandma sent me an email and told me about how she negotiated for a lower internet/phone bill and got free cell service for a year, and she traded in her old cell phone (I think it was a flip phone, my grandparents didn't get a cell phone until 2013 and that was because when I was visiting, the car broke down and I had a phone that we used to call AAA) for a new one (a Samsung 14G? idk, I don't think she knows either)
ANYWAY. Grandma signed up for classes at the library so she can learn to use the phone because she's afraid of doing something that makes it not-work. She goes to the library to check out books and has taken classes there before.
SO: this is a reminder that public libraries are critically important. They're social centres, they teach important community-based classes to people (esp older people), they provide resources...I could keep going.
Libraries are so much more than just Book Castles. Support your local library. Protect it from those who seek to destroy it and the treasures stored within.

To be clear, I voted for the Hey Stephen bridge, but it did take me a while to decide. I honestly think they're too different to compare (I'd say "apples and oranges" again but you got mad the last time I used that expression [weirdo <3]) but I wanted to make the case for tiwwchnt cause I think it's more fun in general and to sing along to and is also gonna be more memorable to most fans. And it wasn't even winning by much at all girls 😂💖
But yeah at the end of the day I'm just a rep girlie and you're not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
putting an end to this discourse with this:
fearless girlies ❤ rep girlies

omg fan letter please is the exact mix of emotional and comedic I need rn, it doesn’t take itself too seriously all while drawing from the classics - high school sweethearts, the one that got away, sad meow meow supporting their family, easy to hate reporter antagonist, notting hill style celebrity girl polite but average guy, adorable sick kid

Ngl, I got a little bit emotional when Barbie told the old woman that she was beautiful.
I know for a fact that my late grandma would have fucking LOVED this movie, and while I didn't play with Barbies as a kid, I got a lot of ideas on womanhood and feminism from my grandma.
I didn't need a doll to tell me I could become anyone I want, my gma did.
I used to watch and read a lot about nature, space, engineering, sciences as a kid and later retell everything I learned to my grandma, who was just as excited to hear about it all as I was to tell her about it all. And when her older friends told her her granddaughter would make a great mom or a model in the future, she would tell them no, she is going to be a scientist.
As I was growing up, she told me that becoming a wife and mother is not be-all, end-all in life for a woman and in fact, she wanted to become neither, but it was the 50s, so she had to, but the times were now different and she knew I could follow a different path.
And while she wasn't familiar with barbie dolls (spent half her life living in the commie bloc, the second half being too old to give a shit about western popculture), the "your gender or romantic partner doesn't define who you are, it's you who defines who you are" message is very much something she taught me and I am grateful for that.
