Got lost in my head and came to a lil realization-

Tumblr is NOT a safe space for people on the spectrum. Not unless you're in specific communities on Tumblr that are about the spectrum.

Honestly the internet isn't a safe place for us because the amount of masking and effort we go through to look over out messages and posts before sending them out is exhausting. Having to go over our own thoughts in a little post like this just so we aren't dismissed, ostracized, or frowned upon for our 'odd thinking' or 'wrong words' is so freaking stressful.

Especially in a creative space for those on the spectrum. There are so many things our brain does in that apartment people would normally find offensive or wrong and that I've been shamed for it's surreal.

So again: Tumblr is NOT a safe space for those on the spectrum.

I didn't think this would get any views or anything cuz it was legit just midnight ramblings but I woke up to so many notifications.

I'm glad that there are many who do feel safe on Tumblr and it stays that way for you. However there are some that understand where I personally come from. I have found friends, communities, and the like on the internet [and on Tumblr] that have become safe spaces for me.

Tumblr was one as a whole where I could share my creative side and relish in some acceptance until- like I'm sure a lot on the spectrum have experienced- I did something that was seen as morally wrong in a way I didn't understand and seemed to become a social pariah because of it. People I considered safe blocked me, or soft blocked me and we went from sharing moments daily to never speaking or acknowledging each other. I was harassed and told that 'not understanding how what I did was considered wrong' was an excuse to avoid accountability. Attempting to explain how my brain worked was seen as 'attention/pity seeking'.

It's not the first time I encountered situations like this just because of the way I think, things I say or do, that go against societal norms and was met in harsh ways. Just the first time in a space I thought safe so soon after my own diagnosis so perhaps it's my personal feelings that make Tumblr no longer safe. Maybe I just got unlucky.

Either way- thank you all for your input, thoughts and stories and I really really hope that should any of you find yourself in a situation like mine you are met with acceptance and understanding and people who will stand by you.

I’ll be honest guys, I think fanfic has ruined a lot of traditional reading for me. Not necessarily the Classic literature (I still throughly enjoy those.) But more modern books just seem so bland and blah in comparison sometimes.

It’s like I’ve seen this trope too much before, these characters aren’t fleshed out, yada-yada and the whole experience just becomes me pointing out areas to be improved which leads to—you guess it me getting the urge to start yet another fic!

It’s like I can’t just consume anything anymore without fighting the urge to add to, expand upon an idea, etc. And frankly, I think that’s why I haven’t been reading much of anything new. Because I can’t get invested in anymore fictional worlds. I got too many fandoms already.

Hi! First I would like to thank you for all your posts and your positive vibes. I personally don't know how to feel at the moment regarding the show/Caryl, the idea of not seeing Carol again is very painful, it weirdly feels like a breakup lol. I was wondering what makes you certain that their story is not over? Do you think they'll meet again? Because MMB seems to be done and talked a lot about how the ILY scene was the last one between them (in Talking Dead) same thing with the bench scene (in Entertainment Weekly). And very few ppl seem to believe NR, Kang and Nicotero when they say Caryl will meet again. We've been lied to so many times before that the distrust is understandable. And who knows how long we have to wait to find out if she'll appear in the spinoff. Thank you for your answer. I hope you're doing well :)

I believe Melissa when she said Carol had more story to tell. And I believe her when she said those were possibly the last scenes with Norman because at the time, future was uncertain, and that's exactly how she felt filming it. That's her truth in that moment. It's the end of the mothership show where it all started, hence it's gotta be emotional for someone who has been there for 12 years.

Norman has promised and assured us it isn't over for Carol or Carol x Daryl, as well as Angela and Greg also reiterating the idea they will eventually find each other again. Greg, as an executive producer of the Daryl spinoff, has hinted Carol is staying for now, but that may not be were she ends up, so he straight implied, she could/would leave in the future.

These people have no reason to be lying when it could blow up in their faces all over again. It would be easier for them to not make any promises, and let us all believe this is the end for Carol after it was announced Melissa dropped out of the original spinoff.

Right now, I believe the plan is to bring Melissa/Carol back. It may take some time, but maybe we will get some news sooner than expected, or a surprise appearance by Melissa on some random French set next year... 🙃
