It’s this time of the year again, folks. Time to wrap up the art Ive made in the last 12 months in another Year in Review! I’ve noticed that this is my fifth Year in Review in a row, so I’ll be making an extra post looking back on the progress in those last 5 years!
I've got a lot to say about this year, but purely art wise, I've gone all when it comes to comics, damn! I've kinda found a format that is messy, and therefore more time efficient, yet still looks good. I even made 2 animatics and lotsa shorts/reels! All that on top of opening coms twice, and, oh yeah, MAKING A WHOLE ASS 4MIN ANIMATION ON MY OWN.
How is my hand still alive.
2023 has been….interesting, to say the least. The first half year I was working on my thesis project, aka making an animated short all on my own (in the art department), which makes it honestly surprising how much I managed to churn out between animating. Trigun rly did have me in a choke hold.
Summer was a bit more spotty, esp. with me not being able to draw anything during August as I was writing my thesis (and doing commissions). And towards the end of the year, Kingdom Hearts tried to save me, but alas, Genshin Impact has finally sunk its teeth into me and dragged me to the bottom of the rabbit hole. It all started with me watching a story summary and lore videos while I was sick after my thesis and I was too intrigued to not dig deeper and well, first I fell in love with Kaeya and then the ships started dropping in left and right.
I’m not gonna lie, the last few months have been weird. I finished my masters in October, and have been on job hunt since, sadly without success so far. I’m existing in this weird limbo of still not grasping I’m not a student anymore after 18 years in education, not really being able to accept I’m an adult, yet desperately trying to find something so I can make a routine, cos rn Im too scared to build a rhythm as I know I’ll have a so much harder time readjusting again. It’s left me in a weird emotional state, where most of the time I feel fine, but when it counts, there’s just, nothing. No joy at getting my diploma, no anticipation to finally go to a convention again, neither any sadness hearing my grandfather died. It frustrates me that it extends to my art as well, there’s excitement over ideas and concepts, but no motivation to pick up the pencil, which makes me either not finish art at all or making so many shortcuts and just ending up with sth not satisfactory to me since it’s not the idea I sought after.
Tho, not everything is doom and gloom. I DID finish a whole ass short animation and got my masters degree, that IS sth to be proud of. Also, while Im struggling at drawing, I’ve also kinda started integrating my shortcuts into my style and some stuff I’ve thrown together actually turns out real good nowadays. Also, and this might be a bit of a weird one, I’m so fucking happy to know I can still enjoy gay ships. I’ve been a bit uncertain over the last few years because when I was around 16-18, I had a real big yaoi phase, which mostly came from the fact so much stuff came out that tickled my brain in the right way (Free, Haikyuu, etc.). But over the years, my enthusiasm died down, and I even started to resent some ships because it’s all some fandoms produced. I often found myself liking a hetero ship more than the popular gay ship, which really made me not wanna stick around because I did not care for most fanart and you can only go through a tag with art you don’t care about so long before you lose interest. I think in retrospect that it rly had nothing to do with the ships being gay ships but rather cos the fans just shoved it in your face when you didn’t care (and shipping culture nowadays also can get real scary). But I’m so happy to see I can still get obsessed with a ship and it’s all thanks to Haikaveh/Kavetham. It really just needed the right flavour for me to dig in again. And oh my god, I FINALLY like a ship with a SHIT TON of art and fanfictions, no more scrounging the crumbs from the bottom of the barrel.
Anyways, enough lamenting. Here’s to hoping I can bite my tongue and get shit started properly in 2024, and that my brainrots may make me obsessed enough to churn out an obscene amount of fanart again.

mostly angst with A little bit of comfort

How could you be so careless?! Losing a rookie on his first mission? What if he was hurt, this mission has already gone to shit and now? You stopped caring about killing stars, love blinding and ruining your plan. Instead you run around looking for Wesker, hoping he's safe from all of this.
You run through the mansion, through long hallways and wide rooms desperately searching for your rookie, and soon you make it to what looks like a lab in the basement, lights glowing faintly from behind the door. Voices could be heard and there was one you so desperately needed to hear again.
Weskers.
You push through the door, stumbling into the lab and noticing the tyrant, a large monster you had helped to create. That doesn't matter right now, you need to make sure Weskers safe. You look over at the tube he's staring at, noticing the tyrant shift in it's place as if it's about to attack and before you know it, you throw yourself at Wesker, shoving him out of the way. But in the process getting injured yourself, the monster attacks, shoving his arm through your chest and tossing you to the other side of the room.
You slammed against the wall, sliding down before hitting the floor, limp against the wall. Wesker turned to face you, just now realizing what had happened to you. Rushing over to your dying body, ignored by the tyrant, and sitting down next to you.
Tears filled in his pretty blue eyes, staring at you and desperately trying to help you in anyway he could. "Y-your- you're not- not gonna die, dammit. I-im-not gonna let- let you die captain- I'm no-"
"Don't worry about me- you gotta get outta here man-" You cough before slouching again, breathing heavily trying to stay awake long enough to talk to him. "Take your glasses off Albert.. I wanna look at you before you go." And he does. His shaky hand grabs at his glasses and throws them down onto the floor. "There you go- I always liked seeing those pretty eyes of yours." Tears well up in his eyes as he gently hugs you, trying to hold you. "Don't start crying now- you still gotta get outta here." He looks up at you again, sobbing as he watches you die.
"I'm not leaving you! I can't leave you here to die Y/n!" He tries to move you but you choke and cough.
"You got to leave me Al, I'm in no condition to move. You'll get yourself killed- and- I won't be there to save you again." The blood that poured from your lips made it hard to speak, barely choking out sentences. Sobs wracked his body, him shaking and holding you close. This wasn't what he had planned, not at all what he wanted. "Don't cry Al, I don't want my last sight to be you crying. Smile for me, won't you." And he smiled. Wiping the tears from his blonde lashes and smiling softly at you. "There you- go... I love you- Albert- make sure to remember that- " He hugged you close, trying his hardest not to breakdown in front of you.
"Please..."
"I'm- I'm gonna get some sleep ok? And I- I need you to get out of here..ok? Get somewhere safe.." You paused for a moment, trying to hide the shakiness and sadness in your voice.
"Goodnight Albert, I love you."
A phrase meant to be comforting made him sob, make tears pool in his eyes again as he watched you close your eyes and watched you slowly stop breathing.
This wasn't what he wanted! He didn't want to watch the love of his life die in this shitty mansion. He didn't want any of this.
But he had to push on so he left. Left with the other surviving stars members and went and continued his life. He left umbrella with much struggle and joined the bsaa with Chris and Jill. But thoughts of you never left his mind. He never fully moved on, still stricken with grief for allowing you to die in such a horrid and grotesque way.
At least he thought you had died. A hour or two later you awoke, shaking the sluggishness from your body and standing up in the lab. The tyrant was long gone and now it was only you and a few other creatures there. And soon after you had escaped easily, the T-virus enhancing your abilities and allowing you to easily defeat the enemies in your path.
And after that you went back to Umbrella, going from being more than a mere test subject to gaining control over most of the company.
Years later you killed spencer, disgusted by the old man who had you in that project, without much effort. Getting the information you needed and jabbing your hand through his heart. You were to become the god he wanted to be, and there was nothing stopping you now.
Well nothing but the people entering the room you were in.

Ok so.. buncha things im gonna list in bullet points GO!!!
-his name is still Drift. It's in fact tgw same drift as rhe catboy one except he's in kirbys universe now.
-He disguises himself as a waddle dee mostly because he finds rhe creatures to be rhe definition of gender. But also to better hide from rhe folk who have been trying to hunt him down.
-Drift got himself a neat little parasol. Mostly because it looks nice, but its also proven to make for a great weapon. (Not to mention floating gracefully is pretty fun)
-Drift and Magolor are really good friends. In fact, Drift crashes at Magolors so often that he may as well be living there. (Drift refuses to call the Lor his home, though. He won't let himself go that far even if Magolor didn't mind)
-Being a shapeshifter still, Drift will sometimes form a physical mouth on his waddle dee form just to scare people
-there was a version of this design where I just slapped Drifts hair on a waddle dee like a wig and called it a day. That design is canon to drift, as this was his first attempt at fitting in with the residents of Dreamland. (Getting more into specifically oc lore here, but the change mostly happened after he was recognized by someone he really did not want to see again.)

Wanted to draw all my werewolf designs I've used over the years and I accidentally ended up making another TDIM au whoops.
So over the years I've had 4 werewolves I'd default to and all of them had slightly varying lore. So now I've just assigned a TDIM character to each of them. So here's just a massive lore dump on all my werewolves.
MAJOR WEREWOLF LORE DUMP BELOW IM SO SORRY GUYSSS
Mark - Werewolf 1. My current/fav werewolf type. Can be both bipedal and quadruped. Their front paws are more hand like with their back paws being more paw like. These werewolves, mentally are more human like but can snap unpredictably at times. They do eat humans and can't eat anything else, but are generally not as violent as some of the other werewolf types. They have sharp upper and lower fangs that stick out, and no back teeth. Due to this they often just swallow food like snakes, but can also use their fangs to bite people which, if done on a full moon can infect another person. These werewolves are also the biggest of them all. To these werewolves, Silver and wolfsbane are both weaknesses.
Kate - Werewolf 2. Usually more bipedal but can be quadruped at times. They are generally furless except for a long mane and tail, as well as some fur where humans generally have body hair. These werewolves are the most dangerous as when in their werewolf forms they are almost entirely animalistic mentally, and extremely aggressive. They eat humans and animals alike. They have an extremely strong bite force and can snap through strong materials with little issue. They also have no lips, their teeth exposed at all times. Silver and wolfsbane are both weaknesses to these werewolves.
Erin - Werewolf 3. Usually bipedal but run on all fours. These are the smallest of the werewolf types, but are one of the more aggressive types, second only to type 2. These werewolves mostly just look like taller, lanky, bipedal wolves. They have very sharp claws and large front paws/hands. These werewolves are also extremely fast. They prefer to eat humans but can eat other animals too. Mentally, they're more intelligent than type 2 but less so than types 1 and 4. They're aggressive and violent by default but can also recognize familiar people and are generally intelligent even when turned. The full moon doesn't affect these werewolves, they simply turn whenever they become overly angry or upset, and sometimes even by choice. Silver is a weakness to these werewolves but wolfsbane is tolerated.
Jamie - Werewolf 4. Entirely quadruped. These werewolves mostly just resemble giant wolves. They're the second largest of all the werewolf types, only slightly smaller than type 1. These werewolves are also the most intelligent and mentally humanoid, having control over themselves almost all the time except for on full moons where they do become aggressive and hunt people. These are the only kind that can eat things that aren't meat, generally considered omnivores. Despite all this, they are still extremely dangerous due to their size and strength as well as their intelligence. Silver is a weakness to these werewolves but wolfsbane is a cure that can even reverse the effects of silver.
No Charlie sadly, not enough different werewolves ugh... he's once again the token human. Poor guy.

Im starting a vote on my dicord every now and then for oc info. This is armani and markies. It will tell what life was before and after finding each other. Not super detailed just enough info to get the main gist of shit.
Markies and Armani are both apart of the shadow realm. Each realm has birth defects. Markies just so happened to be born with ALL of them.
Birth defects are-
•Mostly white fur
•cyan anywhere
•unable to turn glow off
•more than 2 eyes
Markies has black only on his face. He has cyan eyes, 4 eyes in fact, and cant turn off the glow for his nose. Shadow realm inhabitants have glowing fur, nose, eyes, inside of ear and inside of mouth. They can turn it on and off. Markies can turn it off on his nose.
Because markies is the only shadow realm inhabitant whos ever had ALL borth defects had been hunted his entire life. He was easy to spot and a target for many. He was a liability to his pack / family so he had been dumped in hopes of being killed and never being the realms problem ever again.
The shadow realm protector wanted other realms to think they went extinct as it would benefit them in the war (more info soon on war) so they didnt want to risk sending him out as others would know they exist.
Markies had been (again) hinted his entire life. He had sustained life threatening injuries more than 5 times but he was able to find ways to hide such as digging under ground.
Normally no one would get with a mutant as they cant reproduce and because they cant reproduce they usually die out quickly. He also had no one to help protect him bc of this. He did have ppl find him and try to help protect him / adopt him before turning 16 but they all kept leaving him so he eventually stopped excepting help.
Armani had no big problems growing up, ofc the shadow realm being one of the most dangerous realms didnt help.
She may not have had any specific reasons for being targeted but the shadow realm is full of cannibals.
Armani doesn’t have any mutations. She is how ever infertile. She doesn’t see a problem with being with Markies as they wouldn’t be able to have kids even IF she was considered normal.
Markies had separation issues do to so many adoptions and abandonments in his past.
Markies and armani would be a couple for a good 20 years before the war, both living in the shadow realm for 5 and the forest realm for 15 before the war.
The war is a big war that all my OCs go through unless they choose to stay at home, even then their homes are effected as the lava/fire realm invade all realms except for the forgotten realm.
Armanis dies during the war. Markies ofc finds her. When he finds her he doesn’t leave and instead slowly dies laying next to her. Ofc she smelled as she decade but he didnt care, she was the only one who actually showed him what love is like.
Armanis dies at 32 and Markies dies at 29.

OH BOY GAMEY YOUVE ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS GUY SO HARD ALL WEEK
(before and after getting dumped + watching his friend drown + becoming a single father)
he’s so wildly dog coded. he’s the ghost of a rabbit. he’s the single father of two teenagers age 22. he got dumped when he was 19 and never got over it. he’s an autistic freak. he can’t drive. he got skinned alive and we just kind of forgot about it. I made a music video and a teaser trailer for it about him.

He’s one of a couple of prequel characters to the sleepaway campaign my friends and I never actually wound up playing last year!
He’s lived at the camp since he was 18 and ran away from home on his birthday to work there, he’s got a cabin just off the grounds and odd jobs he splits with the other off-season caretaker Laertes, who’s another former camper in a similar situation but with his younger sibling Chandra to take care of and put through boarding school. They’re besties. Laertes my beloved. He sees death omens. (@wildfandom open invitation to come talk about your boy)
Unfortunately, the next summer, a (the) Hitchhiker comes into camp, and he fell for him Fast And Hard because he’s nothing if not gay and stupid. Hitchhiker is obviously INCREDIBLY sus, but he asks Horatio to run away with him at the end of the summer and. ofc. he agrees. So when the day comes he packs up all his effects and goes to wait at the spot on the highway where the Hitchhiker had said he was gonna pick him up. And he waits. And he waits. And he waits. And he waits. And the Hitchhiker never shows.
So he just kind of never gets over that and is so fucked up about it that he doesn’t really leave the camp at all for the rest of his life 😬😬😬
Anyway from there the supernatural bull shitt situation at camp just keeps getting worse— eventually culminating in an eclipse and a storm, when Laertes rushes out to bring back one of the campers who’d wandered off into the woods, manages to deposit him in his and Chandra’s cabin, and when he goes back out in search of any other campers, he’s surrounded by the wolves of the woods— they with too many eyes and shadows too long— and eventually goes to take refuge the only place they can’t follow him, dragging a rowboat down the beach into the lake and paddling out as far as he can against the waves. (There’s a couple other things going on but that’s playbook details mostly)
And while all this is happening, Horatio does a headcount of all the campers still inside, and it’s one short. Chandra is unaccounted for, and Laertes is still outside. So ofc he goes out to look for them, and finds Chandra at the edge of a clearing overlooking the lake just in time for him to hold them back from jumping in after as they both watch Laertes’s rowboat capsize and him fall beneath the waves. And the storm clears.
And after that Horatio takes over looking after Chandra, he sets up the loft for them and they move into his cabin. They trawl the lake, but they don’t find Laertes.
They make it work. He teaches them how to ride a horse 😌
Eventually Chandra finds the kid Laertes had gone out to bring back just kind of wandering in the woods again so they bring him home and then Horatio has two kids!! :)
And then after that the supernatural shit starts to get worse again and Horatio knows the Lindworm is gonna make its move, so he starts getting ready. He teaches Chandra to shoot. He gives Wallace his hunting knife. He sits up every night standing guard on the porch with his rifle across his knees and when the time comes he looks the Lindworm head on, looks back at Chandra one last time, hopes they know he’s proud of them and he’s sorry to leave them alone again, and he raises his [ambigous weapon it depends on the mood you’re in— it’s a sword in the music video, iirc it’s a spiked bat in canon, it’s whatever you want it to be] and he charges directly into the setting sun, into the Lindworm’s mouth to take it down from the inside. And as the last high noon sounded, mordred rode his rotten world into the sun etc etc etc
You can’t permanently kill the Lindworm, obviously, but he does enough damage to hold it off for the next ¿10?ish years until our actual campaign timeline, in which Horatio appears as one of the paper thin hares, which is basically the ghost of a rabbit that functions as an occasional guide for our pcs. Also the Lindworm, notable Stranger TMA Ass Bitch, has his skin and very probably would bring that out to puppet around but we never actually played the game so technically that didn’t happen.
Anyway. Here’s the music video.
Also there’s a post-canon au where after Laertes comes out of the lake he winds up hitching his boat up to the hitchhiker’s motorcycle and they have a Weird Gay Road-trip about it and Hareatio judges them so hard but like. Glass houses.

AAA OMG thank you so much for answering my question! ok ok ok so! first up for the fic desires, right out of the gate - I don't like smut (as a sex-repulsed asexual I find reading about it not fun). also I don't like reading whump that much unless it has a good ending. as for not wanted ships, anything is fine unless it's incest or pedophilia. characters/interactions are a bit harder to pin down, but I know I don't want any fics that involve self-inserts, y/n, or ocs as the main focus, I'd much rather be distanced from the story being told than directly involved in it, if that makes sense? I'd like to read something involving Idia or Ortho or any of the Hades dorm (idk its in-universe name) characters - there doesn't seem to be a lot involving them, at least not that I've found yet. stuff involving the octotrio would also be good, love me some angsty merboys. maybe some stuff with Riddle and the other Heartslybule (idk if that's how it's spelled) students too? if you have any fics involving transformation or body-swapping, those are tropes I really like (I'm reasonably sure that at least some of the Diasomnia students have dragon or half-dragon forms but so far I haven't found anything involving them actually transforming?) In addition, what fics involving the Diasomnia students do you think are the best? (since you are the resident expert in that field, 90% is impressive.) thank you again for answering my ask so enthusiastically, I'm sure you'll be a great help. :)

And You Think, "No Escape" (ongoing) GEN – i'm a few chapters behind on this one bc life kicked me, but very good gen fic thus far! mainly focused around the previous overblotters in a weird sidequest treasure hunt forced by some bad guys, with trey and cater in the BG tryna help their situation. VERY long chapters and updates very regularly, so would likely provide a good amount of content
Night Raven Kindergarten (ongoing) GEN – cater is the main char, but he and trey are kindergarten teachers for a selection of the cast as kids!! VERY cute and fun, and delves into the kids' lives at home in rly heartfelt ways that hit, the problems feel nuanced and well-written, and the chars all feel so themselves. whitenoface is the author and i like a lot of their work, i'm recing another work from them later on
Briar Scion (ongoing) Idiasil – p long idiasil fic where the story itself is rly what caught my attention, and now im along for the ride. the premise is rly interesting where essentially like,,, nature itself loves silver, and wants to marry him? so nature is encroaching on school turf while interpersonal romance happens around the plot, its a fun concept! yuu is in it in the bg a bit but its not like,, self-insert or OC, so hopefully u won't mind. updates regularly!
when we don't have the words, chocolate can speak volumes (completed) Idiasil – cute, 30k or so idiasil!! largely focuses on the second years as a group working at the mostro lounge, as silver asks for advice from them respectively and idia works up the nerve in the bg to come in to say hi to silver. mostly just a cute silly story, not as intricate a plot but a fun read!
The Queen's Court (completed) Catervil – first of all, azurith is a FANTASTIC writer, and i highly recommend literally anything they've ever written. this rec branches beyond this fic, but this was my start. this covers cater interning for maleficient herself, and then delves into his newfound connection to the draconias while covering fae history and previous war, etc, it's FANTASTIC and this lore is upheld in a lot of their other work. "Enchanted" is another ongoing work by azurith with cater as a diasomnia student, updates regularly and is very good!! azurith is largely a catervil writer but i think their work is far more important than a preference for ship, i'd rec even if u don't care abt catervil
Snow Is Falling (completed) Cater-focused – idk if u can tell but i like cater interacting w diasomnia content, this is where he goes to briar valley for winter break instead of back home! around 15k, just focuses on his interactions with the diasomnia people while staying with lilia and silver, p short and sweet but v nice :D
devoted malediction (orphaned) malledeuce – of all the fics on this list, this is the one ur most likely to skip. i found this on a WHIM while scouring every existing diasomnia ship tag and was so stunned at the audacity of someone to ship malleus and DEUCE, and to write 140k+ words abt it, that i had to read it. i can't explain it with words,,, the writing style reads so differently than anything else i've ever read, it reads as a STYLE rather than simply reading as 'well-written,' it rly kept my attention. essentially, it's a ...human? au? they're coworkers at a game dev studio, they're human but there's still magic, i can't explain it. there's underground plot-shit with the magic factions or whatever that's so interesting, but it IS orphaned so it'll never update again. i'm devastated. i can't sell this fic to anyone bc of the ship and the length but i enjoyed it very deeply and i'll miss it
Fath-- I mean, Lilia (completed) lilia & silver – ALSO by whitenoface, very sweet familial content of them through silver's life. a 10k must-read for a diasomnia fan

Just Out of Reach (ongoing) Silsebe – it DOES update, just not on a regular basis. VERY VERY good fic that FEELS slow-burn, it's 50k+ so far and still feels like the build is just starting up well now. essentially, silver and sebek get in a big fight and lilia magically makes them stay side-by-side till they understand each other, so it analyzes how despite their closeness in their upbringings and how they are partners in their roles as malleus's knights, they don't rly get each other yet and need to cultivate their relationship so it doesn't crumble. very nice story thus far and i look forward to updates!!

Boredom fills me so uh take some brainrot on an idea I am currently working on making into a fic
In summary - A small mountain side tourist-trap town which I've yet to name has been more or less bought out by Quackity, an ex-politician with more than enough money thanks to his husband's 'death' who plans to turn this nice scenic mountainside land into the next entertainment capital of the world. With some main construction points already done such as The Needle and the bare-bones for the grand casino as well as a few others, Q already considers this a major success [even after his failures in being able to turn the land into a man made desert] though with continued construction more and more problems arise as they encroach on the forests. Equipment damages, several accidents and 'animal attacks' ever continuing though in reality there's nothing within this area that should be capable of this. Meanwhile the towns people have their own opinions on the situation, majority displeased with the abrupt renovations and others mostly fine since business is business but with constructions coming to a halt a fair amount of people blame these incidents on the cryptids which are said to live within the mountains. These claims are shoved off as nonsense by Quackity and his team, though the stories are apparently more fact than fiction... Seeing as an unexpected meeting due to a certain someone's inability to see glass causes Q to learn first hand that the tales of this town are more real than one would think.

SBI take up the roles as the cryptids of this town, all with varying lore and legend around them.
Philza is refered to as the Crow-Father, due to several sightings only ever seeing him within the shadows of trees while the surrounding area is filled with a murder of crows, due to this it's generally custom that crows in the town are given right-of-way as well. Over all he has a reputation akin to Mothman, an omen of ill fortune, disaster and death- thus leaving things out wether it be food, shiny objects and things for the crows is said to bypass the Father's judgement.
Techno is so originally named named the Boar/Hog-Man, the 'most easy to provoke' of the quartet. Having several notable attacks that have left cars and buildings damaged, along with people as well having been reportedly mauled. Though these incidents have been written off as 'bear attacks' by most officials. According to most in the town there isn't much that can be done to get on the good side of this one, but in general they've noticed a distinct disappearance of potatoes when they're in season- but best to leave 'offerings' out in the woods and far away from people.
Wilbur has been given the title of The *town/mountain name* Harpy or The Eidolon [Im undecided on the name for him] sightings and incidents with his involvement have been far and few between though even with being the most pacifistic of the group there's been a few isolated incidents with human property being damaged by him or small animals being snatched. Though most sightings have an interesting tie in, being that his appearance was usually brought on by music of some fashion- so far basic in tune singing as well as guitars have been the two to mainly do it. Generally it's not advised to play instruments at night due to this.
Finally, Tommy, who has just simply been titled Verm [alternatively the Vermilion Vermin], having been the cause of numerous missing pets and items his acts are once again normally pinned on wild animals. Though despite this a few townsfolk make it customary to collect the blood of wild game [hunting is a big thing so yeah] and leave it out near wooded areas before and after hunting- as to bring good luck and to hopefully stave off the cryptid from raiding their campsites.
Phil is of course inspired by the mothman legends along with his usual bird vibes/angel of death schtick, Techno doesn't have any real world cryptid tie-ins I'm more so basing him on just a piglin and the blood god stuff, Wilbur takes phantom inspiration primarily with no real-world tie in aside from me partly basing his appearance on the Ropen and Jersey Devil and Tommy takes heavy inspiration from the Chupacabra, I figured both variants of it give the feral goblin energy which he holds so he's some funky combo. Also they are all humanoid to a degree- well except techno he is just a pigman- everyone else is human adjacent and fully sentient for reference.
Oh yeah also if you wanted to know - this'll be a very tnt duo centric fic and they will kiss at some point.
Also please for the love of god feel free to ask stuff about this idea, I have sooo much and I don't know if I can include it all in the fic

ok so in the lore of the magnus archives, fear is the universal power. theres no love antithesis to it, its just fear.
theres these... entities? they call them the fears, the dread powers, etc etc the point is theyre not gods. they dont have a consciousness, or rationality, theyre just hungry and the feed on fear.
i swear ill get to the spiral thing
theres 14 and a half powers, though theyre all connected and overlap and its confusing but here we go.
The Buried: fear of suffocation/drowning, claustrophobia, everything crashing down around you. manifests as heavy rain, tight spaces, dirt, and financial issues.
The Corruption: fear of disease, filth, bugs, things that can cause disgust. manifests as decay, rot, mold, bugs, and unhealthy relationships.
The Dark: fear of the dark (duh), of things/creatures outside of what you can see. manifests as shadows, darkness, cold, blindness, and dark water.
The Desolation: fear of pain, loss, destruction, fire. manifests as fire/burns, wax, destruction of what could have been.
The End: fear of death. manifests as bones, undead creatues, and dreams.
The Eye: fear of being watched, followed, or having secrets exposed. manifests as eyes, cameras, the need to know, and libraries.
The Flesh: fear (mostly of animals) of being consumed, or the human realization that we are just meat and bones. manifests as meat, corpses, butchers, and unnaturally twisted bodies.
The Hunt: fear (again, mostly of animals) of being chased, hunted, or being prey. manifests as predatory and animal instincts or traits.
The Lonely: fear of isolation or being cut off from society. manifests as fog, silence, crowds of faceless people, large rooms.
The Slaughter: fear of unmotivated, unpredictable, needless violence. manifests as war, people mad with violence (can be frenzied or calm), music.
The Spiral: fear of madness, that your mind is lying to you, lying, and your senses being lied to. manifests as fractals and spirals, doors, and hallucinations. this is my personal favorite, both because its the most horrifying to me and because i love it.
The Stranger: fear of the unknown and unfamiliar, the feeling something isn't right. manifests as circuses, performances, skin, things that provoke the uncanny valley response (mannequins, masks, taxidermy)
The Vast: fear of heights, large open spaces, and the feeling that something is much too large and we are much too small. manifests as void, falling, vertigo, limited things suddenly becoming infinite.
The Web: fear of being controlled (especially if unaware), manipulation, being trapped. manifests as spiders and webs.
The Extinction: (the "and a half") fear of catastrophic change, destruction of humanity and what could replace us, the apocalypse. manifests as modern technology (code and computers).

another long due review, but mostly because of my last Halloween themed posts parade, haha.. oh well…
long story short, in my current country, I usually spend my weekend going to an area called as Pantai Indah Kapuk or PIK to photo hunt, hunting toys, and yeee, just doing leisurely weekend hobby life in general… within that location, they got two renowned Board Game Cafes, one being super fancy and busy lookin, while the other more cozy and having that small guild/cafe type of vibes… originally, I checked the first one several times, yet whenever I was there, either they already fully booked, or they are just super busy and the place cramped with visitors…
so one day, I went to the later one, the smaller one that is still within the area… first time there, right away I got that chill, cozy, and community types of vibes from the cafe.. I rarely bring any party with me, usually travel alone, so I just sit there and order some drinks and food… but not long after, a friendly game master approach me and ask if I want to join some other table that was seeking a fourth player… was an awesome experience… went there again the second time only for quick lunch, yet another friendly party approach me… hum… what a friendly place I said to myself… that cafe is called as Hello Cafe & Boardgame
jumping to the recent time, couple of months ago, their team was joining an event held by my current company, and they brought a board game they are developing called as Hello Tavern. It’s a table top game, where they try to create their own lore, print their own map, and developing their game pieces… they brought amazing quality pieces to the event, where I got the chance of checking each pieces that were 3D printed… very nicely done…
each pieces got amazing craftmanship, they really put some efforts in making it smooth and easy to be painted after the printing process, quite amazed.. later, they also brought a huge gacha type of wheels, where every visitor can play the wheel for free… I tried, and won that Druid game piece above… really happy with the quality. later we got acquainted, and I just realized, they were Ben and Gerry from Hello Cafe & Boardgames, whom also develop the Hello Tavern boardgame
really love their works, and only bidding the best for the development of the Hello Tavern board game…also the reason why I reviewed that piece here, lol. make sure to check em out in their IG, or just google em… my piece havent got painted, but Im thinking of preserving that early model instead, y’know, me being a toys collector, and the possibility of Hello Tavern to thrive in the future ;)

omg hi it is anon here i apologise for uh. my previous ask, i must have been more than a little insane, very sorry.
but yes actually, my original idea was that since both he and skadi are technically bounty hunters (and bounty hunting is technically all about taking down one person and turning them in for the reward) hed probably be a good single target guard (is it called dreadnought? i think it is)
but frankly he seems so oddly versatile to me like he could be a specialist too tbh or a vanguard as the other anon pointed out like personally i dont quite like agent vanguards (but thats probably cos im not using them right) but i think it would suit him as well ! as long as toland is a melee it sounds abt right (to me) tbh (maybe not a defender tho thats just a bit hmmm)
and honestly, if they r shifting up mlynar im so doomed cos i barely have 50-ish pulls for old man nearl like....... even if gavalter/pozy banner was nice and only made me spend 70 for gavalter + pot2 pozy i dont have much savings at all.... but i guess its a little nothing opening my wallet cant fix (absolutely in pain)
and er, yes i do suggest honkai (out of personal bias i love the game), but objectively, i would say that the game is not in the best of places rn it feels quite desperate for money ? like they r throwing out cashgrabs and all but the story (up to 32+) is really great ! i mean certain chapters are a slog but when it hits hard it really hits hard. the game is also kind of weird in that the real game only really starts once youre 70 at least and can somewhat build or 81 and starting to really get invested in other game modes. all in all, i just think that you really have to slog through the first few bits to get the fun parts. the spin off star rail which is coming soon is probably better if you want to be casual. ok wow this is long i shall stop here. thank you and once again, have a nice day :D
i may have to open my wallet as well but it'll be worth it. i've planned this in advance. the old man will be worth it. knock on wood though because i have about as many pulls as i tend to expend on a limited banner left over from gavial/pozemka (approx 170, the outlier so far has been ling since mr lee decided to evade me for like 290 pulls and i got max pot on ling instead with the spark store plus times she came home instead of him...so that was miserable.)
mostly i just want him to be moved up because 1. i'm impatient 2. i'm impatient. everyone's mad that dorothy got pushed back a bit for 3rd anniv but i don't CARE just give me my OLD MAN.
as for honkai i've heard good things about the lore but less so about the gameplay so that tracks. i try and minimize how many gacha games i play and arknights is the only one i consistently whale on and i justify it to myself by the quality of the story, gameplay, and the fact that blorbo from my games is there. though for other games if they end up having something like the arknights anime i'd be interested in getting into that.

been playing pokemon scarlet the whole weekend
havent had that much fun with a pokemon game in a long time, im really happy
but there are SO many things that make me very puzzled as to how and why somebody thought they are a good idea

like, ok, im actually not really into open world games, i liked pokemon sword fine, and i do think they did a decent job with it, but
we went from linear routes and bigger areas where you can clearly see where you are to
huge age areas where you can lost and where you cant see trainers until you are a few feet from then
and basically no instruction on how to get from one point to the next?
yea, there are roads, but since the game wants you to constantly double back to the academy, it seems like you are supposed to deduce the next route by yourself, but
the game doesnt actually tell you in what order to do gyms/titems/team star bosses? i assume the nurse at the pokemon center tells you, i never asked her because im using a guide, but
its SO weird?

im finishing up a gym, defeated the leader, got my boss, i am booted out of the gym battle and

nothing. absolutely nothing. i feel puzzled, honestly. nothing.
story beats come when you enter an area, and it doesnt matter if you are in the right spot for your level. if you walk by a team star base, you get a story beat. if you walk into a gym, you get one too.
but not after! not even a single piece of advice, not a single hook coming from the main story?
yes, we are "supposed" to "choose" how we want to do the treasure hunt... but this is a pokemon game, we are actually supposed to do everything. i dont understand?
and you cant even realistically skip anything, as far as i can see.
titans give you the equivalent of HMs, gyms are necessary for pokemon obedience and later to enter the E4, defeating the team is necessary storywise.
so whats the idea? im confused.
so, huge sprawling areas where you get lost, no clear indication where to go next and how to get there (the minimap is useless, the big map is functionally useless too). you can use wild pokemon as clues (ok so these ones here are level 50, im way wrong), trainers probably too, but not really, because
you cant SEE the fucking trainers until you are super close to them.
yesterday i wanted to go to the next gym, picked a path that seemed like it was the right one, there was a trainer, fought them. they had level 30 pokemon, while my team was level 40. ok, something wrong? but its the right path, isnt it? i double check, shrug, put some lower level pokemon on my team so my main isnt overlevelled. go to the next trainer, up ahead the same road, a few steps farther ahead.
their pokemon were level 39. i almost lost because i just changed my pokemon. im confused. it is the right path, but... why? how would i know, when coming here before, that i was supposed to battle the first trainer, but not the second? again, they are on the same road, not far apart from each other.
there is a third trainer on the road. i battle them. their pokemon are level 36. i dont understand.
and cities:
they are pointless. obsolete. moot. talking to npcs is mostly a pointless endeavour now. you can only talk to some (they have an arrow symbol in their speech bubble), but nobody so far has actually giving me anything or provided like any interesting lore.
there are no buildings you can enter except the sandwhich shop. all other shops are direct menus with a plain background. the worst? there are like a dozen different shops. the main academy city has several of the SAME restaurants right next to each other.
there are different types of fashion stores so you gotta run around the towns to find them all. (the water city with the weird elevators is the worst). i dont understand? its all pointless.
the cities feel like... not set dressing, but honestly just irrelevent. in sword they felt like set dressing, but at least they were pretty. here, not so much. the only atmospheric city is the snow one ive seen so far. the others are "ok". but empty. and liveless.
so the main gameplay is running circles in the wild, which IS fun, absolutely!, trying to find trainers, running into trainers with pokemon 10 levels below your own a lot of the time, catching pokemon, picking up items.
okay. okay. okay.
like, again, im having SO MUCH FUN, but im also very confused. it does feel adventurey. i went into the ocean and a lake and seeing pokemon swimming around? thats amazing. running through the high grass, seeing pokemon around? thats fun. jumping off a high cliff and soaring through the air? thats so fucking cool. crawling up and down a snow mountain during a blizzard? its just fun, for some reason. im having fun. i feel like im actually discovering things, like im having a legit adventure, its what i wanted when i was a lil kid playing pokemon red. im travelling around the world, discovering things, visiting all these different areas, meeting all these different pokemon, climbing and jumping and swimming. its amazing.
but i also dont get it. lol.
what i wish:
bring back npcs saying anything worthwhile
bring back "mini" quests in the cities
buildings you can enter, esp housing
map features: toggle for "route" to next goal with level information, toggle feature for trainer not battled, darkened sections where you havent been yet?, lil window next to big map to show next possible goals/next steps in the "quests"
clothes that arent orange shorts with stripes. this is fucking horrible. i hate this so much. i love scarlet but wow those shorts make me secondguess my decision the whole damn day. what the fuck man. at least give me color options if you mandate school uniforms. and actually, why is penny in class without a school uniform? i call bullshit. fucking hell
pokemon Let's Go! feature that works, maybe? whats the point of adventuring thru an open world with a mount if your pokemon cant keep up and constantly goes back into your pokeball? what kind of player will be organically able to evolve pawmi? huh? where is that player? whats their name? tell me gamefreak

hes kind of embarrassed about having such an obvious reaction but kaidan & wrex being with him is nice bc theyre both considerate in their own ways about it & dont really pry... like kaidan would be more concerned with him getting water after being sick & wrex just wouldnt bring it up beyond wondering who laid the trap
mostly hed be really angry 😬 in the past i’ve often kind of wondered abt this bc like usually when he has some strong emotional reaction during me1 he reminds himself like, this is anderson’s ship that i’m just borrowing, this is anderson’s crew, also the council is breathing down my neck... but hed be so so angry... whoever laid that trap is not getting out of it but like also he has ALLL these resources to hunt them down.. is what im saying.. I dont know if he’d be above using them :|
best case scenario he wouldnt get any new info on it for a while so he’d cool down at least enough to think through wtf hes doing but idk......

INCOMING VAMPIRE AU THOUGHTS
Don't mind me I'm finally getting the ideas I had on this shit out so I can actually go forward with developing it as an AU. It's my usual mixup of fps protags, Gordon Guy and John, but I'm starting with Gordon as the Vampire and Guy as the Vampire Hunter.

What If Being A Vampire Literally Sucks All The Time Forever like chronic pain sucks. like THAT level of sucks. Like Here's what I was thinking of. Being a vampire isn't just "being alive forever but you need to drink human blood" It's like Oh man I have some lore you look at vampires and their main thing is that they're blood suckers right so lets start with a corpse dead body. cadaver. no longer with us. just some rotting meat. The brain needs oxygen as fuel. The blood supplies the oxygen through blood. The blood is pumped through the heart. The blood is made by your bone marrow. You die. Your heart stops beating Blood stops pumping Brain no longer has oxygen to think marrow stops making blood thats standard! Now, becoming undead, as a vampire, is a little more complicated. The long and short of it is: your body is FIGHTING ACTIVELY to be alive against all odds and wins every time (immortality), but it hurts the whole way
I have the gist of it. It's like. Your heart stops. By all means, you should be dead. but the magic kicks in, and you're still thinking. Your brain is still sending signals to your muscles to move. But using what oxygen to move? whats burning in you? You don't know but you know it's just enough to get to your next meal. So you ferociously eat something, and then find you can't swallow. You can't make saliva. You barely have the energy to chew, and once you DO get something in your stomach, it immediately comes back up. Why can't you feel your pulse? What's going on? You're out of options so you figure you might as well just lie down and die. You're too tired to keep going anyway. So you do, you lie down, and you close your eyes, and you quietly hope that death is as peaceful as sleep. You realize you've actually been moving around without breathing, which makes sense because you can barely flex your diaphragm for more than a shaky wheeze. How are you thinking with such little oxygen? But as you fade from consciousness, you can feel something in you, and it's so upset, it's crying, it's filled with grief, and you instantly can tell it's your skeleton. It's your bones. You're distraught down to your marrow. You're dying. You're dying! Your heart stopped and you have no more blood! You need blood! You need blood to move! To breathe! To think! You try to breath deep again for the voices in your bones, trying to comfort them, to sooth them with the repetitive motion in your lungs, trying to fill yourself with anything but grief, but they keep wailing. We make the blood, our creation, our child, what we put all of our work into is gone! gone! gone! We need it back! Anything! All of it! Find it! Bring it back to us! We're hungry! WE'RE HUNGRY!
and once you find yourself too exhausted to listen, to think, how badly you wish just to die already to cease hearing this wailing, you find your body moving without you. And it's hungry and it's searching and it's crawling on all fours and it misses its beautiful red life that made it feel so full before and it needs it back, and the next thing you know you're desperately grabbing anything with blood in it and shoving it in your mouth in a desperate attempt to sooth this cry for life, you don't want to die, you don't want to die, you worked so hard to keep up this body and craft it and LIVE with it and you're not going to go, and even when you try, even when you try to lay down and die, your body refuses, it takes the reigns, and it keeps up the work itself with or without your help. And it's not until your stomach is full and your teeth are stained and you feel a pulsating burning in your bones that you snap back awake, completely conscious, just fine. You're lucid, you don't feel any more pain. Everything around you is dead and drained and messy and your heart still isn't beating. but you can breathe now and holy shit you guess you literally need to kill to survive and the less you eat and the more you starve yourself the worse it gets when your body finally decides to take recourse.
my idea was like. "the vampires curse is actually stored in the bones, thats why the teeth get so sharp and also theres a connection between blood and bones with the creation via bone marrow" its literally like i was sitting there thinking "no no no, whats it like to be a vampire. what neurosis would you develop. How would you panic? What are common mistakes beginner vampires make" which, by the way, gordon is a beginner vampire
so now you gotta factor, what blood lasts for how long? how long can you go between meals? not only that, but what creatures satisfy the urge? How long can you go avoiding human blood? Does it work like drugs where you develop a resistance to the high, or is it like food where it will keep you moving until you eat again? How the fuck are you gonna get your hands on blood? Can you just eat raw meat? Does that count? and thats where im at lol

So my idea was this Doomguy is a vampire hunter independent and one of his buds says that some freak scared and almost attacked his daughter when she got too close to his old abandoned laboratory up the hill and hes like “he might be… you know… a problem. if you needed a lead” and guys like yeah i fuckin hate the undead ill kill this dude so he busts into old lab space and sees so many dead animals its actually mostly Bones and pelt that hes seeing piles of feathers etc so hes like yeah this is all telltale signs of vampire uhhh hes introduced to gordon SOMEHOW im not totally sure of the details but the working idea i have is guy falls into a trap gordon devised that restrains him suspended in wire or something and gordon like. limps/stumbles into the room and this dude looks haggard he’s breathing heavy, his cheeks are hollow, he’s bug-eyed and shaking while looking at this massive wall of meat in his trap and he bares a bunch of hideous teeth and grits them and looks like hes really struggling with somethin... Like if these dudes don't know each other then Gordon might give in and try to drain Guy, and Guy would absolutely do anything in his power to turn this new vampire into ash, im thinking the inclusion if g-man as a coven leader can fix both issues.
i like the idea of guy falling into gordons trap and gordon thinking about what to do with him before gman shows up and whisks gordon away for a “meeting” while complimenting him on his good work catching the most feared vampire hunter in the country and gman just leaving guy suspended in wires that he has to fight his way out of. Instant situation defuser.
Guy ends up needing to take care of other monsters before going back to Gordon, and he DOES plan to go back to gordon, because no vampire is a good one, especially not one associated with the fucking head of a coven, but next time he sees Gordon, Gordon helps him out of a scrape by attacking and draining a combine who was going to take Guy out or something and escaping before Guy can catch him, or otherwise seeing Gordon do something good with his insane undead powers and like, the third time he meets up with him is when they can actually talk, and Gordons fuckin SO haggard, he’s not even fighting back and he’s even going as far as to say “just make sure theres nothing of me left when you’re done, I don’t want anyone else getting hurt”
Side Note: Guy has a bunch of scarring on his body from dealing with vampires, cops, ghosts, werewolves, anything violent that kills people. I'm playing with the inkling of an idea that he has Divine Blood in him, so that any time something undead bites him or tries to drink his blood, it burns. We'll see.
Side Note 2: now i really like the idea of the combine actually being an organized faction of vampire hunters that are WICKED crooked and exploit people for all their worth in exchange for their “safety” when they kill a vampire They’re essentially loansharks and Guy fucking hates them and hates the name theyve given to vampire hunting
Side Note 3: You've probably noticed that I haven't said anything about John yet! He's in this too. His species is a surprise but I need to get to him later I have an idea for where he came from (Cortana too)
I still need a good reason for Guy to not instantly kill this vampire, if not it's just gonna be "Gordon Freeman escapes the countrys best vampire hunter like a seventh time" every time they meet and they end up being rivals. And it gives Guy enough time to look past the whole "undead monster" thing and start looking at the "Oh this dude figured out how to fight his ridiculous craving for blood in a way more humane than most and is actually staying out of peoples way and keeping to himself. Guess he's not that big of a threat but I still need to keep an eye on him in case he loses it. Turns out he's got a family (Probably Alyx, Eli, Issac and Barney) who's been lookin for him and cares about him as well, don't wanna hurt them". I like the idea of them ending up needing to team up to take out undead together.

Ok I’ll bite- what is the babysitting disaster head canon?
Hihihi okay okay
Its an au i came up with remembering my own shitty babysitter and i just went "huh, OllieDinah lore"
So lets start
Ollie had always babysitted Bruce during gala's as he's 8+ years older (B is like 7 in this au)
It started when he was the only one who wanted to listen to Bruce talk about frogs and snakes for hours. He soon got fond of the little weirdo and actually looked forward to gala's
A while later B needs a babysitter and guess who applied and got the "job". Not Ollie. It was the daughter of a certain officer Lance.
Dinah and Bruce also got really close. They shared interest in the supernatural and crime. Ollie was having none of it.
That was his emotional support witch child
(Yes,, im still witch child/ child of morgana batman trash)
So one day, when Ollie knew Dinah had to babysit again, he came as a surpise, for Bruce he said, not bc he's jealous.
What he did not know was that that day was the day Dinah and B had decided to go ghosthunting, in wayne manor.
Not wanting to leave B alone with a "stranger" (he's so fckn jealous) he joined on their little "witch hunt".
Oliver, being skeptic by nature, made fun of all things supernatural, while in Wayne Manor, a huinted manor.
Dinah getting pretty fed up with this rich kid's shit, lashes out and tells him to shut up, rather crudely. She covered Bruce's ears don't worry.
This starts an argument, which starts more arguments, and more and more. B, also getting fed up, activated one of the secret passage ways in the manor, sending the duo in another hallway.
Bruce had already explored most of the manor, he knew what was where and who possessed what. He just wanted to show Dinah some cool ghost stuff in the old library.
So when he hears Ollie and Dinah fight, he thought it was a good idea to put them in one of the passage ways so they can spend some time together and make up, or kill each other, which ever happened first.
He just wants his friends to get along
Anyway, Dinah and Ollie freak out of course, they're lost in a haunted mansion, alone, and little Bruce is nowhere to be found.
Bruce is actually in the servant passage way, right next to them, having the time of his life.
Once a little shit, always a little shit.
As Ollie and Dinah start looking for Bruce and a way out, Bruce pulls some pranks here and there, scaring the living shit out of them.
Dinah and Oliver start talking about other things as a distraction and they find out the other is not too bad.
Oliver may even start to develop a little crush, after all, Dinah is a fucking badass, she's leading them out of whatever the fuck they're in.
Im going to round it up now bc it isnt finished yet and its getting long, but Ollie and Dinah get out with a little help of Bruce, they're convinced everything they saw was real and supernatural, Bruce finds it too funny to tell them it was (mostly) him. Dinah moves to Star, she and Ollie have dont have a lot of contact due to too much happening with the move and school.
Skip a few years later, Justice league gets created, they realize who's who and start dating. They bring up their experience in a conversation about the supernatural with the league, cue Batman laughing his ass off and two "you little shit-" 's.
