one thing I love about dr who lore is that you can be selective about what you take as canon. Because let’s be so fr, the canon is barely canon in dr who.

there are some set events, but everything else is, in dr who terms, in flux. The writers decide to ignore things all the time, and I think it’s iconic that as a fandom we do the same. it helps that a good few writers aren’t the best of people, so you can make the excuse that they didn’t know wtf they were doing running the show (and did they? Who’s to say?)

everyone praises american vandal for hilariously and incisively satirizing the True Crime Netflix Doc formula, but i still think what made it most impressive was the way it thoroughly subverted the Teen Movie genre by simply not being set in a highly stylized borderline-fantastical world of its own rules that overlap extremely little with the actual high school experience. american vandal is the only piece of fiction ive ever seen about high school that truly reflects what high school kids are actually like, and there is something so unique and refreshing about that unflinching realism in a genre that seems to demand absurdism. idk

#u can also say that derry girls is accurate and I agree #but it’s not /about/ high school in the same way AV is #idk I mean I think good teen movies don’t require realism in the slightest #so this isn’t a criticism of that genre #I just love how AV was both a satire and yet deeply authentic #a cool glass of water amidst a sea of daiquiris #o.tv #100

I saw him labeled as Scott's Gay Roomate and saying all the smart things and knew immediately from real life experience that that's who he was though.

i would like to share my headcanons for the honor among thieves cast's subclasses and my reasoning for them (some of these have effectively if not already been confirmed but mnjsnjsngsnjm)

Edgin: College of Valor Bard / (one of the more physical bard subclasses and also it feels right. there's swords but the flavor isn't the same. half tempted to say eloquence but the flavor isn't all there either.) Holga: Path of the Totem Warrior (Elk) / (Elk Totem warrior cause she's from the Elk Tribe and also the being nimble on your feet feels right (Rare Elk W). I was considering berserker cause it's one of the very few not magic inclined barbarian subclasses but frenzy is a dumb ability and it makes me mad and i'm not gonna do that to her.) Simon: Wild Magic Sorcerer / (confirmed but also that's literally the only correct sorcerer subclass for him. that's just the correct option.) Doric: Circle of the Moon Druid / (confirmed via her statblock but i'll give my reasonings anyway. Moon druid is all about wildshape which.... yeah. Also they're described as 'fierce guardians of the wilds' which i think fits with the Emerald Enclave.) Xenk: Oath of the Ancients / (Somewhat confirmed? He talks about the tenants of the ancients which... yeah. Also it's described as 'as old as the race of elves and the rituals of the druids.' which y'know he's lived for 5 gagillion years because being partially undead does that to a mf so) Forge: Mastermind Rogue / (Described as: 'Your focus is on people and on the influence and secrets they have. Many spies, courtiers, and schemers follow this archetype, leading lives of intrigue. Words are your weapons as often as knives or poison, and secrets and favors are some of your favorite treasures.' HMMMMMMMM. Also some features from it: 'Insightful Manipulator' 'Misdirection' 'Soul of Deceit'. bro. he's literally a conman this is just the correct subclass option for him.) Sofina: School of Necromancy Wizard / (i don't think i need to explain why the UNDEAD wizard following a LICH would be a necromancy wizard i think that's pretty clear actually.) also for funsies: Kira: Arcane Trickster Rogue / (her eventually becoming a rogue makes the most sense to me, the other classes don't feel right for her. i also think the touch of magic from arcane trickster fits her well. i mean she already has that pendant and magic items are a gateway drug.)

I really loved Nope. I can’t stop thinking about the scene when Emerald is talking about how she was supposed to train Jean Jacket and Pops never looked up at her at the window but OJ did. OJ acknowledged her and saw her. He named the Creature “Jean Jacket” as a way of saying, here’s the chance you wanted. The chance you never got. And she is the one who finally solved the puzzle and killed it/got it to leave. And she got her picture. I’m so proud of them, best siblings ever

#this movie was so good for so many reasons ljke it had the suspense it had the twisted inexplicable moments of pure horror #it had deep meaning connected to Viewing and Digesting and Taming #the siblings kept surprising me bc you can tell there’s moments where they don’t agree but they choose to stay together and fight together.#em chooses to stay and not run away leaving her brother to die w their horses #it’s just a beautiful film I’m so happy I watched it #I thought Steven Yeuns character was SO. fucked up. he obviously is so haunted by the violence of the past but makes a shrine to it.#spins it and uses it for social status. cheapening any lesson he may have learned about life and death into some idea that he’s ‘chosen’#I want to keep ranting about this but I must continue Pondering #personal #a small diary entry #nope 2022
