The white garden at Wyards Farm in Hampshire is not quite all white. The sulphur yellow flowers of alchemilla just adding that often indispensable colour break.

Plant of the Day
Friday 19 May 2023
The velvety rounded leaves of Alchemilla mollis (lady's mantle) capture the raindrops. This clump-forming perennial produces sprays of tiny yellow-green flowers in the summer. It is a valuable plant for edging a border, if it produces too many seedlings then remove the flower heads.

Tiny flowers in the lawn in front of my home in Quebec. I love the dreamy aspect I was able to give to this photo. This photo was taken in May 2022.

Plant of the Day
Friday 24 June 2022
It was interesting to see this Alchemilla mollis (lady's mantle) had naturalised in this meadow. It is a clump forming herbaceous perennial with hairy, light green leaves with scalloped and toothed edges. The small, bright yellow flowers are borne in large sprays just above the foliage. If allowed to self-seed into gravel or cracks between paving, the resulting plants are very drought tolerant.
