mile has been putting up posts of everything that's recently wrong in his life and i feel like giving him the biggest and warmest hug (and telling him that it's most likely because of the eclipse season that just went by and that it's not him🙈🤣)
his ipad was bent
he revealed he lost his custom-made MP ring in Paris (Paris is now on my shitlist for this reason btw....not a romantic city anymore....it is now associated with loss)
one of the headlights of his car was not working
his luggage's zip got wonky
and today one of the tyres of his car is giving him trouble
he's been whining on insta reels POOR BB!!!
i just want him to take some time for himself and not spend that time buying or playing guitars and just take stock of his things...and get them fixed before the damage happens...i say this coz he's got an entire fucking plaza to run (??)....i mean...ofc he has a team etc but still it's his business (right?....it's not his dad's right? idek lol i just know he's INVOLVED in the business big time)
just....take care mile

I want to start making darker content because while I do like writing fluff and angst, I also really enjoy horror and exploring uncomfortable topics in my stories. I'm too nervous to ever actually share anything beyond some OC stuff with my one friend because I don't want people to like... worry if I'm okay considering some of the subject matter I write about. I'm also worried I won't portray the issues correctly or with enough respect for people who have these sorts of traumas.
I'll write just about anything if I think it'll make for an interesting story, but I also want to make sure I get my facts right and that my writing helps people instead of hurts them.

Do you have an idea for scientific names of each of the tdp elves?
In how I worldbuild them, the races of elf are not separate species, they're a single species whose early bodyplan development and entire genome is affected by their arcanum. I.e. all elves have the genes for the traits of all types of elf in some form, for the most part, but most of them are 'switched off'. Given the dramatically divergent bodyplans of some elves (drastically different horns, wings, etc) it would have to be a very very early effect, acting directly on the homeobox gene development, but it makes a lot more sense to me than all elves being separate species in the same genus.
Accordingly, there would be a single species name for all elves. But you could potentially give the different races different variants, like how the domestic dog is canis lupus familiaris and the wolf is just canis lupus. Something like that would work well.
I have been writing elves and humans as sharing a genus, like real world humans shared a genus with neanderthals and other homo species. Therefore the scientific name of elves could be be 'homo (X)', and there's a ton of options you could go with from there, depending on how you characterise elves Vs humans Vs dragons in your particular viewpoint.
If you consider elves to be essentially horned humanoids, you could use something related to horns. E.g. homo cornutum. If however you consider humans to be hornless in the setting as opposed to normal (which I consider more likely, given how many mammalian xadian life forms have horns), this scientific name would make less sense, because having horns is just a normal thing, so why would you name your species for it? (If humans are making the scientific names though, this would be plausible.)
You could also characterise them by their magic. Something like homo magus or, based on their having arcana, homo arcanus. However, if you consider humans magicless rather than elves to have magic, which again makes more sense, it doesn't make sense to name elves according to the fact that they have magic. Rather, I'd expect any in-universe scientists would probably name humans according to the fact that they don't have magic, and they might not be called homo sapiens like they are in our world. (Again though, if humans are doing the naming, it could make sense to name elves according to the fact that they're magical.)
Generally, if you're giving something a scientific name, you need to think about who's doing the naming. Names don't come out of a vacuum, and the traits people choose to name a species for are dependent on cultural perspective. If a particularly proud elf is naming their species, you might see them called something like homo magnificens, or even homo sapiens, taking our real world name. If they consider elves to be divine or blessed, they might name themselves accordingly too.
If you're assuming that the scientific species names are being generated in-setting at approximately a canon time point, I don't think it makes sense for humans to be doing the naming. There hasn't been much evidence in canon of humans having particularly advanced sciences, they seem too busy trying to survive. But if they did have scientists making scientific names for things, they potentially would think that the races of elves were six separate species, and give them different species names. In which case it would make most sense for them to either choose visible traits like wings or obvious traits like the different arcana to name the different types of elves. Slap some Draconic (cough Latin cough) words in there and you're golden. This also applies for if you're wanting to pick subspecies names for the different types of elves. E.g. I'd personally use 'aetherum' or something similar as the species / subspecies name for Skywing elves, because I consider 'aether' to be the best word for the Sky primal.
If the same-species thing isn't true in your worldbuilding, or the elves just don't understand that they're the same species, you can also go with separate species names if elves are doing the naming.
The genus name homo is itself questionable. In 'Draconic' it means man, but originally came from the Ancient Greek 'homos' for 'the same'. Considering it was dragons wielding this language originally, in setting (though you have to make your personal assumptions about the in universe equivalent of Ancient Greek yourself), it's entirely possible that the genus name for hominids would be completely different, and you'd have to consider whether elves are coopting the language much as we co-opt Latin and Ancient Greek to make scientific names, or whether potentially it's dragon scholars making the scientific names. It would be very interesting to think about what traits a dragon would name a species for.
Tl;dr: There's a lot of options and they mostly depend on your personal headcanons about elves 😅

Okay so i finished it and omg im so glad Wally’s not dead also Harley reuniting with the ‘new’ Ivy was so sweet omg and her kneeing Wally was so amazing
All their commentary while Wally’s having a heart to heart with himself is so good
And then img the different confessions from so many different heroes between the whole issue was so good and muah
Harley kneeing Wally was a much-needed lighthearted moment
But that panel of his future self hugging him? And the one where he breaks down into tears? Heartbreaking
Also, that comment of "He has a lot of power. He had a crisis. He lost control" is so sad to me bc they acknowledge that Wally was going through it, that he was having an actual mental health crisis, but don't realize that no one really helped him with that either. Like, Wally's biggest issue was that he felt alone, and no one tried to make him feel less alone (and granted, no one knew he felt so bad, but still)

I truly, TRULY do not know how to say this, because the fact that I have to say it makes me feel like I am losing my grip on reality. But no, in the post-capitalistic anarchist utopia, I will not be relying on “autistic minecraft girlies” to be building inspectors because - and this may shock you - one of those occupations takes years of education in how to read and interpret hundreds of thousands of lines of regulations based on complicated math and physics that were the result of decades of tragedy and death, and the other one involves playing a children’s video game.

Sometimes I think about how Adrien, throughout the series, constantly grapples with his fear of abandonment. Gabriel conditioned him to believe that any love he receives is purely transactional, and that to earn affection he has to prove his utility. Adrien is constantly trying to prove his worth to his father for scraps of affection, and Chat Noir infamously crumbles on-screen any time he feels as though he is replaceable to Ladybug. It's a constant insecurity of his, like everyone will just dump him like a sack of potatoes the moment they find out how useless he is.
Meanwhile, all Marinette wants to is ensure that Adrien is happy. Because she loves him. She doesn't give two shits about how """useful""" he is. She holds him and tells him that she will never abandon him (both as Ladynoir and as Adrienette), and her fantasies are about saving him, not about him being "useful" to her. Throughout their relationship, Adrien is forced to disappoint Marinette constantly for reasons outside of his control (amok commands), and yet Marinette is still there for him.
At Adrien's lowest point, when he is forcibly torn away from everyone who had ever showed him genuine care, locked away in an all-white room and at his most "useless", right after disappointing Marinette and unable to even join the final battle or contribute in any way, she still saves him. She still loves him. Because he doesn't have to prove anything to her. Because he is loved and cherished for who he is, not for what he does, and that love is not conditional. Adrien's "happy ending" at the end of the first arc wasn't about him finally proving how useful he can be, because he never actually cared about being useful — he just saw it as the only means to feel loved and needed. Instead, in the end, he found out that he was loved and needed no matter what.

you were raised in comparison.
it wasn't always obvious (well. except for the times that it was), but you internalized it young. you had to eat what you didn't like, other people are going hungry, and you should be grateful. you had to suck it up and walk on the twisted ankle, it wasn't broken, you were just being a baby. you were never actually suffering, people obviously had it worse than you did.
you had a roof over your head - imagine! with the way you behaved, with how you talked back to your parents? you're lucky they didn't kick you out on your ass. they had friends who had to deal with that. hell, you have friends who had to deal with that. and how dare you imply your father isn't there for you - just because he doesn't ever actually talk to you and just because he's completely emotionally checked out of your life doesn't mean you're not fucking lucky. think about your cousins, who don't even get to speak to their dad. so what if yours has a mean streak; is aggressive and rude. at least you have a father to be rude to you.
you really think you're hurting? you were raised in a home! you had access to clean water! you never so much as came close to experiencing a real problem. sure, okay. you have this "mental illness" thing, but teenagers are always depressed, right. it's a phase, you'll move on with your life.
what do you mean you feel burnt out at work. what do you mean you mean you never "formed healthy coping mechanisms?" we raised you better than that. you were supposed to just shoulder through things. to hold yourself to high expectations. "burning out" is for people with real jobs and real stress. burnout is for people who have sick kids and people who have high-paying jobs and people who are actually experiencing something difficult. recently you almost cried because you couldn't find your fucking car keys. you just have lost your sense of gratitude, and honestly, we're kind of hurt. we tell you we love you, isn't that enough? if you want us to stick around, you need to be better about proving it. you need to shut up about how your mental health is ruined.
it could be worse! what if you were actually experiencing executive dysfunction. if you were really actually sick, would you even be able to look at things on the internet about it? you just spend too much time on webMD. you just like to freak yourself out and feel like you belong to something. you just like playing the victim. this is always how you have been - you've always been so fucking dramatic. you have no idea how good you have it - you're too fucking sensitive.
you were like, maybe too good of a kid. unwilling to make a real fuss. and the whole time - the little points, the little validations - they went unnoticed. it isn't that you were looking for love, specifically - more like you'd just wanted any one person to actually listen. that was all you'd really need. you just needed to be witnessed. it wasn't that you couldn't withstand the burden, but you did want to know that anyone was watching. these days, you are so accustomed to the idea of comparison - you don't even think you belong in your own communities. someone always fits better than you do. you're always the outlier. they made these places safe, and then you go in, and you are just not... quite the same way that would actually-fit.
you watch the little white ocean of your numbness lap at your ankles. the tide has been coming in for a while, you need to do something about it. what you want to do is take a nap. what you want to do is develop some kind of time machine - it's not like you want your life to stop, not completely, but it would really nice if you could just get everything to freeze, just for a little while, just until you're finished resting. but at least you're not the worst you've been. at least you have anything. you're so fucking lucky. do you have any concept of the amount of global suffering?
a little ant dies at the side of your kitchen sink. you look at its strange chitinous body and think - if you could just somehow convince yourself it is enough, it will finally be enough and you can be happy. no changes will have to be made. you just need to remember what you could lose. what is still precious to you.
you can't stop staring at the ant. you could be an ant instead of a person, that is how lucky you are. it's just - you didn't know the name of the ant, did you. it's just - ants spend their whole life working, and never complain. never pull the car over to weep.
it's just - when it died, it curled up into a tight little ball.
something kind of uncomfortable: you do that when you sleep.
#writeblr#warm up#my dad was actively doing bad shit to us and we STILL were told we were lucky . and to a point i do think im lucky#i just think also there's somethin to be said about like. how about we stop using comparison to dismiss ppls individual struggles#yes there are people who have no perspective. for the reference tho having perspective actually made me really unwilling to get help#for what was a serious and debilitating mental health issue. bc i thought i didnt DESERVE IT#and i would rather have 600 ppl who aren't THAT bad get help and get heard and get seen#than make any 1 kid. do the math that i did: look at the world that is dying and the people who are hurting and say#''oh. okay. others have it worse. they are probably better people than i am. i am being unreasonable. i cannot ask for help#i am not good. i am taking too much space. i am not worth saving.''#bc our WHOLE lives we are taught a scarcity mindset - that you can 'steal' from someone. so that instead of changing a system that doesn't#actually offer fair support to everyone#we put the impetus on the individual to just... demand less.#and here's something - there are probably ppl who think i DIDNT deserve to get help#bc i DID have it better than other people#and something about that is ... so sickening. bc i think all of us in some way at some point WILL need help.#we were supposed to make communities. we were supposed to offer our hands. we were supposed to raise the barn#instead we said: it could be worse. now handle it yourself
