Fungsi Alveolus Adalah Sebagai Tempat Pertukaran Udara, Simak Penjelasannya
Tumblr media
1.  Tempat Pertukaran Gas Dari Alveolus ke Kapiler Darah
Proses pernapasan manusia dianggap cukup rumit.

you panic.
pairing: bodyguard!ghost x actress!reader cw: reader's pov. panic attack, simon in protective mode, hurt/comfort ig? 6 | gold rush masterlist.
Tumblr media
you couldn’t breathe. the room seemed small, walls closing in and trapping your limp figure inside of an endless nightmare, compressing your lungs until no air reached your alveolus. the mirror reflected the terror stamped on your face, bloodshot eyes staring at the terrifying warning that froze your blood flow and the trembling hands clutching to your arms, wrapping your torso like a straightjacket, desperately trying to pressure your body into disappearing from that reality.
up to this point, you’ve managed to control your fear. shove your worries aside, trust that nothing would trespass your walls and infinite security measures, promise yourself that it would never infest your brain, but that was the last straw. it was your home. you weren’t safe anywhere and it was just a matter of time until you’d be ripped to shreds in your own garden, crimson painting the destroyed flower beds and a golden crown placed on your head like a perfect corpse-bride.
your knees dropped to the frigid floor with a thud, dreadful mist clouding your vision as tears rolled down your cheeks. you couldn’t think, you couldn’t speak, and the alcohol in your veins only managed to heighten the panic. your soul was floating out of your form, knocking on the bars of the prison, looking for a way out of the ordeal and hoping that it was just a hallucination. the loud thumps of your heart ringed in your ears, muffling Ghost’s attempts to get your attention.
the knot in your throat kept tightening, constricting your vocal cords until the only sounds that could be heard were your strained sobs. being in your own skin was overwhelming and you’d give it all to escape the well you were stranded in, but the water was rising quickly, covering your head and drowning any attempt at tranquillity.
“hey, i’m here,” Ghost said, trying to coax you back to the present, “just focus on my voice, can you take a deep breath for me?”
your dilated pupils take the sight of him crouched on the floor and follow the movement of his chest, letting his low timbre pierce your eardrum and soothe your heartbeat. you mimic him, feeling the crisp air cursing through your nostrils, down your trachea and bronchi, finally having enough oxygen in your system.
“can i touch you?” he asks, and you notice the concern behind his hazel irises. you can’t ignore the shame that came with your panicked state, breaking down in front of someone you barely know and who must’ve endured so much worse in his life. you hate feeling weak, frail, like you’d crumble by just one look, but you need comfort. need it so badly that you nod, allowing him to take your quivering hand in his.
his grip is firm, and despite the roughness of his palm, the touch is delicate, tender, enveloping you in gentle heat. you melt in his arms, pitiful sobs leaving your lips when you turn in nothing more than putty in that moment. “shh, i got you, everything will be alright,” he coos, doing his best to calm you, but you couldn’t believe him.
how could everything be alright? the last ounce of safety you had was just taken from you. “it’s my– it’s my home, Ghost,” you stutter, lifting your head to look at him, “i’m not safe in my own home anymore, i can’t–” another wave of tears flood your waterline, and you stop before finishing your sentence. the anxiety was still bubbling in your stomach, it was still too much to handle at once.
“i know, love, i’ll get you out of here, trust me. nothing will harm you. now just breathe, okay? slow and steady.” his tone is light, almost ethereal, but unmistakably determined. it sounded more than just a phrase to pacify you. it was a promise. a vow. one made with his whole heart and he wouldn’t die before making sure you’re safe.
it takes a while before your brain settles back, slipping out of the hysteria. Ghost lifts you to your feet, taking a step back to give you some space. you sense him studying your expressions, wanting a hint of how to proceed. “what do you need?” he questions softly.
what do i need? the query lingers on your mind while he gazes at you. you're not sure. you never had an attack like this, never had an emotional collapse, never needed so much comfort. “i... don't know,” you gulp, glancing around the room and viewing the bathroom door, “i guess i could go for, uhm, a bath? it might help, right?”
he nods, pacing past you and walking through the door. you faintly hear the running water filling the bathtub and you strip off your heels, your clothes, let your hair fall down and your skin feel the cool air of the room. you shiver, but the tingling of the cold reminds you that you’re still alive, so there’s still a flimsy hope of peace in your future.
you put on a robe and head to the bathroom, tip-toeing on the chilling tiles. Ghost moves to the exit, allowing you privacy in your vulnerable state, but your meek request makes him freeze on the spot. “can you... stay?” you sigh, “i’m scared of being alone right now.”
he pauses, not knowing how to answer, and you shift your weight from one leg to another, fingers fidgeting with the fluffy belt that holds your covering in place, regretting even asking for such a thing. “sure.” he clears his throat, taking a seat in the tiny wooden ottoman in the corner. the image is quite comical, the bulky man slowly leaning down to the stool as if one glance from him would crack the material, and a timid chuckle escapes your mouth.
his face turns to the side when you undo the knot of your robe and you feel the heat coming to your cheeks when you come to your senses. what the fuck did i ask? you’re bare, slipping into the warm water that was supposed to relieve your anxious mood, but that mainly swells your chest with embarrassment.
you don’t know if you should be grateful that he’s not making a big deal of it, or sink in the tub due to the quiet – too quiet – atmosphere. Ghost is nothing but a gentleman at that moment, maintaining his head down and eyes away from your blurred naked body, so different from every man you’ve been near. they all seem to think that because you’re known, famous, whatever, you’re merely a doll on display for public use. it’s nice to not feel like an object.
after a long hour of letting the water purge your anguishes, you find yourself draped on a blanket on the sofa, sipping on a cup of chamomile tea that he, so heartily, prepared. he’s on the phone in the next room, and you don’t want to pry, but your ears unconsciously perk up to catch some of his words. he’s talking to someone named Price? something about a safe house?
a few minutes later, he’s back, sitting on the coffee table in front of you. “so, we’re gonna move,” your brows raised, confused by his statement, “talked to an old friend and i got you a safe place, you can stay there as long as you need, the bastard won’t find you. and i’ll be there with you all the time, okay?” he’s gonna stay with me?
rationally, you know it’s a good idea. you don’t feel protected in your house anymore, and having him constantly by your side would probably give your heart a rest and unburden your shoulders. but moving is a big thing for a life so regulated. “Dan–
“i’ll talk to him tomorrow, don’t worry,” he assures, putting a hand on your knee and giving you a small smile. your vision was so hazy before that you didn’t even notice that he had his mask down, and you find yourself musing on the curve of his lips.
“thank you, Ghost.”

Zaplarizch
"The Zaplarizch, a being not so easily described."
CHALLO THERE - how are you doing? Hopefully it's good!
The short story here is a snippet I made when I originally got a story idea. The actual story itself is what I'm currently plotting, and will also be more detailed and have build up to the events described here :D so mild spoiler warnings for that!
The premise is about a creature I made myself, which a random creature name generator graciously named The Zaplarizch. How do you say that? I don't know, to be honest. But, I can mildly describe it! The Zaplarizch is a rather tall beast, maybe 10-15 feet or so. It's mainly a skeleton base, the spine and bones in its arms very visible. However, its shoulders are really bulked out, and the skin is a mix between large balls of pus, random bloody eyeballs, and patches of human skin. Kind of like an Ed Gein monstrosity given life.
WARNINGS It's graphic, I would say. I'm not sure exactly what people expect warnings for, as I don't get triggered easy and usually skip them. But it does feature a couple of things!
Somewhat vivid descriptions of murder?
MC is fearing for his life
Also mentions of deadly pranks
MC being guilty about murdering his brother :P
WITHOUT FURTHER ADO - let's get started!
The cloth of my sweater and pants stuck to my skin uncomfortably, almost like someone skinned a cow and sewed its skin onto mine. My eyes moved rapidly, my hair stuck to my forehead like wet seaweed trapped in a net.
I ran fast. Tried to.
The breath was taken from my lungs as soon as I saw it. Like it was stabbed on a skewer and pulled out of my lungs, leaving nothing but bloodied alveolus. My legs were sore before I even started running, muscles too tense to even run without pain. I bumped into the trees, the tension leaving my body through the blood dripping out of my veins.
The forest was large, and I was too far away from town to get any help. Perhaps that’s why this house was there, in the end of it. That thing wouldn’t want one to find help.
I thought it was innocent enough. A manor that was rumored to be haunted in the middle of the forest. Spooky, sure. But ghosts didn’t exist, not like anything could be haunted.
What I hadn’t bet on was what existed other than ghosts. What could be still living in the abandoned manor up the top of the hill in the back of the town.
What I hadn’t bet on was my brother’s head hanging off a doorknob.
It was stupid, really, dragging my younger brother into this. I felt horrible, bile building in my stomach as soon as I saw his hair acting as a noose. But it was too late to save him, part of his spine sticking out of the bottom of his decapitated neck.
I should’ve taken that as a sign. I suppose the whole body might’ve been closure.
There wasn’t closure.
I was running now, trying to.
The hill was steep, my feet tripping. I fell down, like a steep dirt slide with rocks slinging onto my face. I tried to stop, a rock hitting my feet at the end. I tripped, falling forward onto the ground.
My arms and legs were cut from the twigs, my face battered from the gravel that hit my face. My palms stung, ripped open by the ground. I looked down at my clothes, ripped open from the fall down.
I stood up and continued to run, not having time to catch my breath.
I heard the thudding getting louder and louder, whether it was my heart or the thing chasing me I had no idea.
But I didn’t have time to discern it. The world started to go black.
The trees moved around, the sticks stabbing into the ground like pogo sticks. I slowed down, from running to jogging, jogging to trudging.
I fell down to the ground, turning around to view the thing chasing me. Its face was burnt, the skin at the top wrinkled and covered in burn marks. Its jaw was gone too, leaving nothing below its top
Its arms were nothing but bent sticks, destroyed muscles connecting them to the rest of the body. The spine of the creature was sticking out, muscle coming to wrap around it like strings of chewed gum being pulled to its very limit. In the middle of its stomach laid intestines of different sizes, all bloody and hanging out of the muscles holding everything together. There were skeletal arms hanging out, moving on their own free will. Its feet were loud, stomping heavily on the ground. The muscles wrapped around its legs in circles, eventually leading down to the bone and claws that it used to latch into the dirt.
What scared me most were its eyes. Its eyelids were burnt, leaving him with just white sclera to stare at things. They glew in the moonlight, leaving every other part of him lying in darkness. Like they had a light of their own.
I sobbed as I saw it, trying my best to back away with my stretched muscles and bloody veins. I felt as powerless as a baby, unable to do anything. At least babies could scream.
The sticks it used as arms stabbed my heart, sneaking past my ribs and directly into the left ventricle of my heart. I sobbed, coughing up blood as it moved to stab my lungs.
From my heart and lungs to my stomach, down my abdomen and to every part of my body. It must’ve had magic to ensure I was alive, I could feel every single strand inside my abdomen splitting in two as it tore me in half.
I bled, that was my last memory. Torn apart and stapled together in the weirdest of ways.
fin.
Thank you so much for reading this all the way through! Hopefully I managed to tag it properly, I'm honestly not the best at tags.
I'm working on a more fleshed out story now, but I honestly kind of spoiled the ending here. Which isn't the worst thing in the world! Because I still really like this clip here anyways, it can honestly be used as a teaser to.

Can men procuce nutritious milk?
Yes! Both trans men are cis men are capable of producing milk; in fact anybody with nipples and breast tissue has the potential to lactate. Lactation is caused by the hormone polactin, which is produced in the brain, the uterus, the prostate, and of course, in the mammary alveolus (breasts).
Almost everyone, regardless of sex, is born with nipples and mammary glands, and everyone who is born with them is capable of producing milk, so long as they are capable of producing enough polactin too. Those who are born without nipples have athelia, those born without mammary glands have amazia, and those without both have amastia; all of which are variations of intersexuality. Of course, anybody who gets either their nipples or breasts removed surgically would not be able to lactate either.
Your question of if it is nutritious or not is where it gets a little trickier. Polactin being produced in the mammary alveolus generally only occurs after reaching the 16th week of pregnancy. Obviously, it has been observed to build up in people who are not pregnant, and to the point of causing lactation. The chemical formula is the same regardless of sex or gender, so yes, men who are lactating could potentially breast feed a baby. The problem lies in how much milk they are able to produce. Since lactation undue to pregnancy is usually a hormonal error on the brains part, it doesn't always make polactin with the same abundancy as it would with somebody who is carrying a child. They would, in theory, have nutritious milk, but probably not enough to healthily sustain a baby; or anyone else for that matter.
It is not unhygienic, gross, or unsanitary for anybody to lactate. If you're bold enough to try, it's entirely edible too!
Thanks for the ask, and thank you for your vulnerability! your elaboration helped me pin point exactly what you were asking so i could explain exactly what your situation was. If anyone else has any questions, similar to this or not, feel free to ask! i'm open to anon asks, so don't be shy to get a little personal or detailed. this is a shame a stigma free place. Any hate will be deleted and blocked.

@no-i-will-not-shut-up idk if this is what you meant or what you were looking for but here, hold this anyway
---
Pain is something that Childe is used to.
A master of weaponry cannot be called as such if he doesn’t hold the capacity for making tools of war out of anything at his disposal. Fear can be honed nicely, anger is sharpened by its own nature, and pain has the capacity for so much utility if one knows how to use it.
And oh, does he know how to forge pain into something devastating. It fuels him, propels him in battle into a higher fervor. Taking a blow is a victory, not a misstep, and he lives for the feeling of blooming bruises and aching bones, because victory is assured.
Ruin Guards fall to pieces around him, sparks and detritus falling like the snow from his homeland. The breaths leaving his lungs are withered and rasping, twisted into something inhuman and vicious, as if he had a vendetta against the very air itself. Somewhere at his back is Teucer’s counting, reaching dangerously close to zero. One delay was already pushing it - another won’t fly.
Months ago, he came here to meet with Dottore. If Childe remembers correctly, there’s a little room just to the side where he can tuck himself into a corner and fully comprehend the consequences of his actions.
Pain is a weapon, but there’s something to be said about the cloying feeling of dread and despair in his chest when the armor starts to melt away and his skin burns where the chilled air of the factory brushes past it. Every nerve is firing, sending screeching signals through every cell in his body that he’s in incredible danger.
In his ears, his heartbeat pounds and a high-pitched whine nearly drowns out the sounds of Teucer’s excitement, Paimon’s astonishment, and the Traveler’s footsteps as they look for him. The wall is excruciating against his back, his body feeling every sensation at a magnitude he’s always had trouble comprehending.
Using the transformation when he wasn’t ready again… it’s torture of the worst kind.
It’s hard to breathe when the expanding of his ribs feels as if they’re being cracked open. Every alveolus in Childe’s lungs threaten to rupture if he takes in too much air. Breaths are kept short and shallow, just enough to keep the darkness from creeping in at the edges. His spine protests as Childe slides to the floor, limbs curled wherever they please, if only because his muscles no longer wish to cooperate.
It’s never felt good to use the transformation, but it’s always been for a good cause. At least, he thinks it is.
The numerous times in the Abyss, when Skirk pushed and pushed and pushed his limits.
I might die if I use it again.
You will die if you don’t use it again.
Skirk saved him, kept him sane, guided him on the right path to survival, but it had been hell. As his eyes feel as if they’re going to pound from their sockets with each heartbeat, Childe can’t help but remember the comforting chill of Skirk’s tone as she forced that child to stay alive.
For his own good, she’d said, because death is useless in the Abyss. Pain is useful.
Except the agony is useless to him now. An aftereffect of fighting for something he believed so strongly in that he’s willing to put himself through hell just to preserve it. But then he’s left with an abundance of unusable pain, and a little brother calling for him. Childe doesn’t have the strength to answer.
Luckily, he doesn’t have to. The Traveler comes around the corner, looking concerned for his well-being. That’s nice, at least, and it’s a minor balm to the way his body screams and screams that it’s going to die. It always gets worse before it gets better, and he’s on the cusp of passing out when the Traveler pulls him back to reality with a few quiet words and a promise to cover for him.
At the very least, no one will bother him here while he recovers enough to get back. Once the Traveler takes Teucer, then it will be nothing but the latent sparking of broken Ruin Machines and his own slowing heartbeat to keep him company.

my fic titles and their meanings
beta-lactam -> class of antibiotics used for treating strep. works by preventing the cell walls of some bacteria from repairing and causing them to break down (metaphorically the boundaries between rain and dew)
born unwise -> lyric from takeover by katatonia. ghouls are born lacking experience & also (sometimes) without wisdom teeth
blur turns to haze -> lyric from died a million times by monolord, which is a song about a psychedelic induced time loop. to me this specific lyric describes something indistinct turning into something else indistinct, which is what dew experiences: a confusing experience that leads to an uncertain diagnosis/future
cardiac action potential -> the electrical signal that makes your heart beat. rains heart beats for the first time and there is a more metaphorical "spark" of rain and dew first meeting (sort of). also it calls attention to inner workings of the body that we dont usually think about
unholy water -> well. its a lyric from the song wolf moon by type o negative
alveolar bone -> the bone that holds teeth. a tooth socket is more technically called an alveolus. obviously rain is getting his teeth pulled out of those but also to me the alveolar bone is associated with support, as in the bone supports the teeth (like dew supports rain)
bright-eyed and bushy-tailed -> this was in the synonyms for "effervescent" as in sparkling or carbonated (though clearly the synonym is for a different definition). also phantom is new to the world and excited about it
with the bathwater -> bathwater as in showering but also to "throw the baby out with the bathwater" is to ruin something in overexuberance while trying to remove something negative which is how i feel about antipsychotics a lot of the time. the side effects feel not worth the benefit and its a delicate balancing act
you will die again -> the lyric that follows "blur turns to haze". i wanted these two fics to have matching titles because they describe the same events but also i wanted to emphasize the time loop. i didnt really make dew experience a time loop but i personally did in one of my most psychotic moments that inspired a lot of this fic. and i did think i was dying over and over. "again" also highlights that this is the second time ive told this story
4/9 song lyrics, 3/9 technical concepts, 2/9 idioms

Surat Sayang Nomor Satu

Breathing Techniques Combat Viral Infections; Insights from Harvard Study
Breathing practices have long been recognized as vital for both mental and physical well-being. Yet, despite our understanding of its importance, the full extent of its benefits remains elusive, akin to the mysteries of the ocean's depths.
Scientists are continually delving into the myriad advantages of focused breathing to enhance human health. Drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions, the significance of breathing exercises for overall wellness is increasingly acknowledged.
In a recent study published in Nature Communications, researchers from Harvard University shed light on the profound impact of breathing on immune responses against viruses, such as COVID-19. Leveraging innovative technology, the study underscores the therapeutic potential of breathing techniques.
The Study's Insights Using a 'Human Lung Chip,' which emulates the structure and function of lung air sacs (alveoli), the Harvard team demonstrated that mechanical forces simulating breathing motions can impede influenza virus replication while activating innate immune defenses.
The Mechanics Unveiled Infecting the "breathing" Alveolus Chips with H3N2 influenza, the researchers observed a robust immune response, characterized by increased levels of inflammatory cytokines, including type III interferon—a natural antiviral defense mechanism. Additionally, elevated levels of adhesion molecules facilitated the recruitment of immune cells to combat the infection.
Further Investigations Experiments conducted without mechanical breathing motions revealed that mechanical stresses alone can trigger a natural immune response in the lungs. Moreover, the study suggests a potential link between increased cytokine production and lung conditions like COPD, as well as lung injury associated with high-volume ventilators.
Implications for COVID-19 Additional experiments with H3N2 virus-infected Alveolus Chips subjected to strain, followed by treatment with the anti-inflammatory drug molnupiravir, demonstrated a reduction in inflammatory cytokine production—a promising avenue for managing COVID-19-related lung inflammation.
The Way Forward Co-first author Haiqing Bai emphasizes the potential of the Alveolus Chip to model immune responses in the lungs' deeper regions, where infections can be severe. While mechanical breathing chips show promise, traditional deep breathing exercises remain effective in promoting overall health.
In Conclusion While the mechanical breathing chip presents exciting possibilities, deep breathing techniques offer a readily accessible means of enhancing health. With a wealth of resources available, individuals can explore various breathing practices to optimize their well-being.

Podcasts
I started listening to a new podcast series called Horses. Despite its name the episodes comprise essays regarding more or less niche historical topics such as pirates, whaling, and the sustenance of indigenous people in the arctic area. The series seems very intriguing and diverse in terms of topics.

Pulmonary Surfactant Market to Witness Excellent Revenue Growth Owing to Rapid Increase in Demand
Pulmonary surfactant is a complex mixture of phospholipids (PL) and proteins (SP) that reduce surface tension at the air-liquid interface of the alveolus, thus preventing its collapse during end-exhalation. It also participates in innate host defense against inhaled pathogens. Pulmonary Surfactant generally is a surface-active lipoprotein complex that is formed by type II alveolar cells. Hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions have both proteins as well as lipids that make up the surfactant. Pulmonary surfactant is important at all times because it lines the alveoli to lower physical phenomena, thereby preventing atelectasis during breathing.

Role of SURGISPON® in Dog’s Dental Surgery
Tumblr media
Clefts of the lip, alveolus, and palate are among the most common craniofacial birth abnormalities found in both humans and animals. Traditional treatments, such as autogenous bone grafts, have long been regarded as the gold standard. However, these methods have substantial disadvantages, including limited bone availability and donor-site problems such as post-operative pain, changes in sensation, and the risk of infections and scarring. Fortunately, recent approaches in cell therapy and tissue engineering provide promising solutions to these issues. One interesting strategy is to use a gelatin sponge scaffold combined with cultured stem cells to repair cleft alveoli in dogs. In this blog, we’ll explore how combining these innovative approaches particularly utilizing a gelatin sponge scaffold with cultured stem cells, can revolutionize the treatment of craniofacial defects in dogs.
Role of Gelatin Sponge, Cell therapy, and Tissue Engineering
Gelatin Sponge Scaffold: The gelatin sponge acts as a three-dimensional scaffold, providing structural support to the repair site. Its porous shape enables for the penetration of cells and growth substances, which promotes tissue regeneration and repair.
Cell therapy: It involves the use of stem cells, which have the unique capacity to differentiate into multiple cell types such as bone and soft tissue cells. These cells can be obtained from the patient’s own tissues or from compatible donors which lowers the chance of rejection and other complications.
Tissue engineering enhances cell treatment by creating a favourable environment for cell proliferation and tissue regeneration. Gelatin sponge excels in hemostasis, which ensures that blood flow is efficiently controlled. This is especially important in veterinary surgery, when patients are unable to verbalise their distress, making precision and safety critical. In some circumstances, gelatin sponge serves as a scaffold for bone graft materials, facilitating the formation of new bone and tissue regeneration.Gelatin is notable for being both absorbent and non-adherent. It will eventually absorb within the body after it serves its purpose of controlling bleeding. This eliminates the need for a second surgery to remove it resulting indecreasing post-operative complications and ensuring a faster and smoother recovery for the animal patient.
Clinical Study Insights:
A clinical study involving 12 healthy mongrel dogs utilized Gelatin Sponge (SURGISPON®, Aegis Life Science, India) as a scaffold, along with stem cells, to repair alveolar bone defects. This study concluded that stem cells cultured on gelatin scaffold accelerated the healing and regeneration of alveolar cleft and new bone formation in dogs [1].

Further Advancements:
Aegis Lifesciences has introduced a new product HaemoVet® Dental sponges which comprised of Absorbable Gelatin Sponge and offer alternatives for veterinary dental surgeries. When implanted in tissues in appropriate amounts, it completely absorbs within<4 weeks. In oral and dental surgery, HAEMOVET® Sponges serve as a valuable aid in achieving hemostasis. HaemoVet® may be used either dry or moistened, depending upon conditions present at operation and preference of the surgeon. Isotonic saline is suitable for use with HaemoVet®.
Additionally, HaemoVet® Dental sponge, impregnated with colloidal silver, provides additional antibacterial properties, ensuring optimal healing conditions in the oral cavity.
