This act drives him to despair and eventually death. He dies on the blade of a man he loves in an attempt to preserve his honor/save his soul. He leaves behind a terrible secret that haunts his brother (and even daughter) for years. He isn't physically present in the narrative but his actions are what defines the main story. He has a kinda creepy massive portrait in barok's office.
