when I look at your cards I feel like im looking at someone who has been at rock bottom and knows how to talk themselves (and others) out of a low point. You know how to extract lessons from situations others would see as a ''failure." in your world giving up doesn't exist, any "failure" is just a bigger, overarching lesson that helps you get closer to success. I feel like one of your strengths is being able to see things from both a higher perspective, and as the perspective of someone who has been at rock bottom. Its like you have both a helicopter view of a situation, and a on the ground view as well. This dual understanding allows you to help other people on a deeper level where no one else has been able to reach them. you help others understand their situation from a higher perspective but also from the perspective of someone whos ''been there.'' this skill reminds me of a Lenord cohen lyric where he describes Jesus, "and ..he realized only drowning men could see him." You can connect with people who have never had anyone meet them where they are, because you know how to guide them out of the waters. you have birds eye view which provides a greater understanding of a turbulent situation and its purpose without loosing sight of how it feels to be at ''rock bottom" on a personal, intimate level.

Your weakness has to do with maintaining objectivity and balance. because you know so intimately how others may feel when they are at rock bottom, maintaining the boundary of not accidently going back down can be something that hinders you. But at the same time, this can be a strength in the sense that you feel very strongly for them, you want to stand up for them and find a fair conclusion. Your sense of justice may make your biased at times, but it also makes you motivated

your strengths and skills

you can see beyond LIES and MISTRUTHS, you're someone who sees through anything thats unclear and confusing. you know when someone is trying to misdirect you and to confuse you, you have an uncanny sense of when something isnt adding up. i also feel that you can cut through extra details and bluff to get to the point of something, you dont mince words and you communicate very well regardless of the medium you choose.

weaknesses and how it can be your strength

you may not come from money, or you may not come from a background that gives you a soft cushion for you to fall back on. lacking a solid foundation may be something you consider a weakness about yourself, but this is actually something that can be your biggest strength- i know many people who come from BIG money. im talking Mercedes car before they even got an official license. Their privilege does help them in life. HOWEVER, they have no work experience, no applicable skills, no understanding of what its like to work 8-12 hours a day. they have never made a resume as they have literally never worked a job. I used to think this was something to envy but then I realized something pivotal: when their main providers die and that foundation goes away, they will have to learn skills many of us learned at 15-16 years old in their twenties or even thirties. that sounds like my worst nightmare.

when you dont come from that type of comfort, you have to learn to rely on yourself. this is a strength that makes you more powerful than alot of people in this world because you know how to build your own stability instead of having it provided for you. you will create your own legacy.

im getting the sense that you're very good at entertaining yourself, you have a magnetic sense to you that could attract others to you but its like you prefer your own company. you're very analytical, alert and aware of your surroundings. this may make you overly cautious, anxious but at the same time, its a strength to have the awareness that you possess. You're quick and on your feet, its difficult to catch you off guard. your focus may be pulled in several directions at once, but still, you have keen senses. I feel like you process stimuli very quickly, its may be a weakness in the sense that its hard to process it all at once, but it also makes you very difficult to catch off guard. That's it, that's all i can say.

I knew it as soon as my hand reached his face and stinged, as soon as i heard a camera's flash, and as soon as i stepped into my mom's apartment.

Let's just rewind a bit, okay?

My family own a big business, that you already know by now, the thing is, when they reeaally want to do business with someone they go extreme, the most common technique is to get on the good side of everyone in the family, everyone.

They research, pretend to have things in common, to like the same things, to have the same views of life, and to make it more believable they always go for the person who is closest in age with them.

Usually i dont get involved in this situations because im younger than everyone else, the only teen in the family.

The thing is, this family also had someone around my age.

A 18 year old guy.....eighteen.

Let me tell you, i really wasn't going for trouble today, i tought he may be a normal guy, just with a little money, someone i could have a conversation with, drink some coffe, laugh and go back home and think "hey, not so bad"

He.was.not.

All he could talk about is how much money his family had, where he went for winter break, his pure blood horse, that only ate (attention to this one) IMPORTED GRASS.

Overall a huge dick.

But that i could handle, i've met people like this, i could handle a shitty talk for some hours, what i could not handle was having to go through all this with his hand on my knee bellow the table.

And here i was, spending one of my last days of spring being tortured by the fates.

"You're not paying much attention to the conversation are you?" He said, and gods that accent was almost making me want to jump out of a cliff, or push him out of a cliff, both would work.

"Oh sorry i was-"

"No need to apologize, people get bored i know" Not that he did something criminal by not letting me finish my sentence but, my gods every action coming from him its making me want to die right now "Its okay, i could find some way to make you focus"

"Im gonna need you to stop saying odd shit" I looked him dead in the eye with a bothered look, and by the surprised look he gave me back i was 100% sure nobody ever told him to shut up when he was saying nonsense.

"C'mon, dont be like that-" he said trying to get his hand a little but upwards, and i only realized i slapped him when i felt my hand burning.

"Oh my gods im sorry i-" And then i heard the camera flashes.

Im going to need you to imagine the scene, my hand was still up, his hand was till on his cheek, and he had a scared look in his face, as did most of the people at the fancy coffe shop.

Do i smile now? Strike a pose? This one is definetly getting front pages at every place.

I chose the safest choice, got out of that straight to my house.

No..i did not payed the bill.

The whole way home i was trying really hard to think of something to say that was not going to make my family mad, especially my grandfather, but considering whe has always mad with something, that felt like a impossible mission.

First thing i saw when i opened the door of the penthouse was my mom, standing in front of the television, and sure enough, my face was on it.

She turned to me, but before she could even say something i started to explain myself.

"Its not what it looks like mom, i swear, i didn't do it on pourpose, let me explain please-" i couldnt actually read the look on her face, but she didnt say anything, so  i took that as a go ahead.

When i explained her what happened her face relaxed a bit, but not completely, and she had a look that said your grandpa is getting in my nerves because of this.

"I'll talk to your grandfather about this, but you need to know that the way you acted wasn't appropriate, there is cameras all around and you need to be careful...lets just thank the gods you didnt pulled out a dagger right?" She walked closer to me, and i knew she was trying to comfort me, its a pitty actually, i knew she didnt wanted kids when she had me, i knew how grandpa treated her when he found out, to me, it was enough that she at least tried to love me enough.  "You already have your things packed to camp right? I know you have some more days of school but ill call them and tell them you are sick, its best for you to leave earlier this year, then your grandfather wont talk your ears out...you okay with that?"

"Yes mama, ill just finish packing some small things...do i leave today?" I felt her hands on my shoulders, and heard a silent im sorry.

"Yes, but dont be like that, think that you at least wont have to see the news talking about you..youll just be there, with your siblings, eating strawberies and..whatever else demigods do daily, right?"

Like i said, it is enough to me that she tries, even when she isnt great all the time, i know people who dont even have this.

I nodded and went to my room, making sure not to accidentally hit a new sculpture, placed in the corridor.

I didnt wait for her when i finished packing.

I knew she wouldnt be the one to take me there, she never is, she has things to do with the family business, its what ive always heard.

So when i got to the underground garage with my bags i automatically searched for one of the family drivers, sure enough, he was there.

He was a nice guy, but quiet, i knew that he probably had orders not to talk to the family members unless spoken to, grandpa did this with all of them, i also knew he never actually knows where hes been taking me, he takes me there almos every year, but always stops at the road in front of the forest, maybe this sad look he has on his face its because he thinks he is taking me to one of those crazy wilderness therapies as a punishment.

Granpa would absolutely do that if he hadnt had to live with a great public appearence.

"Miss? We are here" He looked at me in the rearview mirror, i only realized i had doze of when my eyes met his and i blinked. "Hold on tight, im going to help you with your luggage okay?"

"Oh..thank you mr bell" He opened the trunk, and then the back door for me, extending his hand to help me get out of the car "thank you, again"

"Sure miss, just let me take your bags out and we are all set okay?-"

Another car dor noise made us both look to the right, to find Clarisse La rue, closing a taxi door, with just one big suitcase in hand.

Now, my story with Clarisse is kind of complicated, i've met her when he were, eight i guess, her family bought some shares in the family business and we saw each other very regulaly, and ever since then everything everyone told me about her is that she is a troublesome girl, that i should stay far.

But she was the one who realized i was a demigodess, and took me straight to camp when a monster found me, and she was the one who, many times when we were little, comforted me when my family made me cry.

It seems like she forgot all of that because she never even looks at me.

If you ask her, she has never even met me at all actually.

"Clarisse, you're early"

"Cassandra, you too-"

"Cass actually, i prefer cass" i corrected her, to wich she just rolled her eyes and muffled a whatever. "Thats all you are taking? One suitcase?"

"And you are taking all that? How do you plan on walking the whole way with all that? Im assuming he wont go with you" she said looking at mr bell, and its true, he could not walk the whole way with me, and i could not walk with all that alone...fuck

"....you could help m-"

"No, dont even think about it"

"C'mon Clarisse!" She didnt even answered me this time actually. "Arent you a Ares-" i looked at the driver taking the suitcases out. "A ares...type of kid? You will pass on the oportunity to demonstrate your muscles or whatever?"

She started to walk away with a bored look, did i already said fuck?

"C'mon ill do whatever! I- i dont know.. 20 dracmas!, no?, ill help you with the cleaning duty you'll eventually have when you fuck it up? I..ill do that AND ill cure you anytime you want, everyday, no matter the time!"

She stopped walking.

Yes! I knew it, one of the many problems clarisse had its that she likes to go out at night to train alone, and when she gets hurt she cant ask anyone to help her, because she would get caught

"Give me those suitcases already and shut up-" she was interrupted by a very happy me hugging her.

I felt her hands on my arms and realized she was going to push me away, so i took a step back

"Geez Clarisse, you could've just told me to back off, dont be like that... just take these and ill take those"

Hello, i dont know if you're taking requests at the moment, but I was wondering if you could do a denji x little sister reader. You can write whatever you want. Also, sorry if this is wordy. This is my first time asking for to be written.

        Platonic! Little sister! (Y/N) x Denji

        You're the most important female in his life, not even Makima could compare to you. If you even utter a word about disliking Makima, all of a sudden his feelings are dropped. "Makima who?"

        If you're a normal civilian, Denji's always going to make sure you're somewhere nice and safe before even thinking about hunting a devil. If you're a devil hunter, well, tough luck; Denji's still going to be protective of you and make the job take even longer than necessary because of his rebuttals. He just wants to make sure you're safe!

        Can and will fight anyone who insults you. Yes, you may live on the streets with him. Yes, you might've not had a shower in who knows how long. Yes, your hair is matted, but they don't have the right to insult you. Denji might be a skinny person, but he's been on the streets since he was a kid with you (and he's a devil hunter) so he knows how to fight. Even when he does have his (Aki's) apartment and someone picks on you, well, he now has his own trash can to dump their remains in instead of a local dumpster.

        Denji will always make sure you eat your food; especially your vegetables. No buts! You need to stay healthy!

        Denji would actually die if something bad ever happens to you. He lost his mother and got placed into a shitty situation thanks to his dead dad, you're the only one left in his life and he'll fight tooth and nail to make sure you stay with him.

        Denji was a little afraid that you wouldn't like Pochita when he brought him to your little shack one day. He really grew a bond with Pochita, but he doesn't want you to be upset or scared of the devil dog. He was very happy when you accepted Pochita with open arms.

        Denji will let you use his jacket as a blanket. You can cuddle up with him and Pochita too if you're too cold. He knows he doesn't have much to provide for you (and he feels awful about it) but he wants to make sure you're at least warm at night.

        Denji will always make sure you and Pochita eat first before him. Your needs come before his own.

        When Denji moves in with Aki and Power, he's very cautious of them (especially Aki). Denji wants to make sure Aki and Power won't hurt you, so he's always keeping a watchful eye on them.

        Denji was more lenient on Power. Of course, he still kept an eye open at all times, but he was glad to find you and her roughhousing one day (yes, you got hurt since she couldn't control her strength. She was really sorry about it but refused to admit it, so she let you play with Meowy all day).

        Aki slowly started to gain Denji's trust when Denji miserably failed to make your favorite food on your birthday. Denji woke up extra early to surprise you but was having so much trouble that Aki smelt burnt food and ended up waking up. He found Denji dumping out another batch of burnt food and ended up helping him (just so he didn't waste all his money on restocking the groceries). Yes, Denji took all the credibility. No, Aki did not care enough to try and correct him.

        Manga spoilers ahead, so if you don't know who Nayuta is, don't read!

        When Nayuta comes into the picture, Denji was a little hesitant of it. Two kids to take care of? He can barely take care of himself on good days! Kishibe insisted that Denji take Nayuta in so he really didn't have much of a choice.

        There's some silent jealousy between the two of you, but Denji is too dense to realize it. Denji thinks you two stare at each other because you're very curious and excited to become friends/sisters! Denji was very relieved to see you both coloring together (Nayuta was ruining your zebra with red crayon, so you ruined her dog with a blue one).

        When you and Nayuta finally got along with each other, Denji finally realized the rivalry the two of you had going on. He felt a little bad that he didn't realize sooner since he could've tried to help you two get along, but he's really glad that you both were able to set aside your differences to focus on your main goal: care for your big brother, Denji!

        Now you and Nayuta do everything together! Drawing, watching TV, playing at the playground, you're basically inseparable twins! You even share the same classroom together (if you're around her age). If you're older than Nayuta, you drop her off at her school and pick her up when it's over. Nayuta is always bouncing with unseen excitement when she sees you and Denji from her school gates, ready to take her home.

        I really hope you like dogs because Denji has a lot of them now that Makima's gone. Denji will build a fence in his apartment to keep them out of your room if you're allergic or dislike them. If you do like them, that's great! You can help Denji and Nayuta walk them, feed them, bathe them; it'll be fun!

        Denji really loves you and Nayuta and is very protective of you. He knows you and him have had a hard uprising, he just wants to make sure you're happy and content with the life you have now with him, Nayuta, and many dogs. If you're not happy, he'll try his darn best to make it better for you.

Ngl i dont really get 'feminist' mens rights activism. Are men hurt by the patriarchy? Yeah... but they benefit from it too, and more than they hurt. Straight people are hurt by homophobia and transmisogyny too, but no one is out here doing 'pro lgbtq rights straight activism'.

So, first of all, while I personally don't know of any queer liberation-based cishet activists, there are plenty of cishet activsts for queer liberation. And honestly, if some cishet people wanted to use queer theory and queer activism as a lens to examine cishet issues in solidarity with queer liberation, then good for them! That sounds like it could be really cool and really helpful for dismantling homophobia, transphobia, gncphobia in cishet relationships/spaces. I think that could be really beneficial for a lot of people, especially cishets who still don't fit perfectly in patriarchal gender roles.

Second of all, and to actually answer your question, I don't feel there's a minimum amount of suffering needed before someone deserves to be helped. I don't see the point in acknowledging that men are harmed by the patriarchy if we aren't going to try to address those harms. Why are these issues used as a rhetorical argument but then actually critically examining them is seen as bad? If we agree that the patriarchy is harmful to men, and that men would, as a group, benefit from it's destruction, why shouldn't we encourage men to seek liberate in solidarity with other genders?It feels to me that at least one reason this is viewed negatively is because it's not punishment-based. It doesn't suggest that men need to suffer or that their suffering is deserved or "their own fault", and it's focused on redemption and connection. If we agree that men are harmed by the patriarchy, why shouldn't men want liberation from that? Do you think that the patriarchy should be dismantled without ever critically examining how men are harmed by it? That kind of thing is what brings more men into gender activism and makes feminism stronger. It helps further collective healing from the damage patriarchal gender roles have done. And on top of all this, I'm not sure we can make any sort of assessment of how much men benefit from the patriarchy vs how much they are harmed, especially since the benefits can vary from situation to situation and person to person. Trans men are men who benefit little to none from the patriarchy, and I can't imagine many of us would appreciate being told that we are helped more than we are hurt by it. There are also many people who were AMAB who live mostly as men, regardless of their actual gender, who are severely hurt by the patriarchy. Some die because of it (through various things, not only issues caused by emotional repression but things like gaybashing, bullying, child abuse, etc.). And personally, I don't feel I can say that none of this deserves active concern and treatment until women's issues are resolved, morally- and I think it's unlikely that women's issues can be perfectly treated in a way completely detached from men's issues. The idea that we can only fight for one struggle at a time is a fallacy. We don't have to "choose" between men's issues or women's. I literally cannot- both affect me personally, and I cannot live in peace without fighting both fights. Even if it weren't personal, I don't want any group of people to be suffering if it can be helped.

Plus, men's issues intersect in the same way misogyny does. I got into men's liberation through transmasc-specific activism, because I realized that so many issues trans men faced intersected with other groups because of a shared antimasculism problem. In the same way that a lot of other issues intertwine with misogyny, and that can't be ignored when studying non-gendered forms of oppression, men's gendered experiences with bigotry matter too. Gender roles are sticky, they get everywhere. It's foolish, in my opinion, to think that women's gender roles intersect with everything (true) but that men's gender is a non-entity that has no bearing on the other issues they experience. When Black men (as well as butches and studs) are viewed as hyper-aggressive, hyper-sexual, hyper-masculine, that's the intersection of patriarchal male gender roles (men are aggressive and sexually active) with anti-Black racism. The idea of "savage" men being cartoonishly violent and sexually aggressive (making them a threat to White women) is pretty common in various forms of racism, as gender roles are played up to demonize or mock another group. Disabled women are often painted as failures if they are unable to have children, or cook & clean, because of misogyny. Disabled men are often painted as failures if they cannot do manual labor, or impregnate someone, because of antimasculism. I don't think we can analyze other forms of oppression without looking at how gender plays into it, and we can't do that only focused on women & especially cis women. We need the trans perspective, and we need the male perspective. And "male perspective" does not mean "patriarchal perspective".

I hope this was a good explanation of why I feel men's liberation and studying of antimasculism is important.

i hope this isnt very out of the blue—it’s just that these two have been rotating in my head for days (though tbh when have they stopped but anw), in your opinions, how do you think bruce and dick’s relationship can be healthy(ier)? like, ignoring the whole “the nature of comic demands them to always be unhealthy for conflicts/dramas’ sake”, (how) do you think they can move forward from all the bad things that have happened between them (especially if one counts spyral into it)?

i am also constantly rotating them and throwing them into rat mazes! endlessly entertaining.

my answer to this question is actually my ongoing series earth-w1 or: It's all part of the fairy tale. (see what I did there?) it's my fix-it AU set a year(?) after Spyral where Bruce and Dick get together. their relationship is very much a work in progress and messy but they are trying their best! hopefully I'll get the time to write the whole character arcs I have in mind for them.

so if we're talking comics Bruce and Dick? and we're not cherry picking the worst moments and dysfunction out? whether platonic, familial, or romantic, their relationship is deeply codependent. they need to grow as individuals before their relationship can be healthy.

they're great at ignoring their past conflicts and forgiving each other (without communicating that), because they always come back to nearly unconditional trust and love for each other. they don't need to open up old wounds between them, but they should. this is how comics deal with their issues—sweeping them under the rug, *maybe* with a few panels of communication where Bruce indirectly apologizes and Dick dismisses his need to apologize.

that's not actually good in the long run, and gives us situations like Dick coming back from Spyral with a cheery "family is everything!" smile, a character dissonance that *I* explain by Dick's desperate "Im okay" maladaptive coping mechanism.

anyway.

this is how to improve their relationship on the surface:

1. they realize that they both want each other around, and then actually spend lots of time together.

2. Dick helps call Bruce out on bullshit and helps improve his relationships. Dick soothes Bruce's emotional dysfunction by being a constant of unconditional love.

3. Bruce reassures Dick of his place in his life and the family, soothing Dick's anxiety about belonging.

4. the foundations of dysfunction in their relationship remain, so as soon as there's a crisis they fall into the same patterns as before, causing strain in their other relationships. Bruce can't be out of control or have Dick nearly-die without losing it. Dick drops everything to emotionally rescue him. Dick doesn't allow others to care for him.

this is how to improve their relationship deeply:

1. Bruce becomes brave enough to let Dick in past his armor, and shares and processes his childhood trauma. he recontextualizes what Batman is.

2. Dick accepts that he is worthy of love himself, and allows himself to be imperfect.

3. they actually spend time together.

4. Bruce makes a genuine effort to make amends for his past actions, regardless of the outcome. most importantly, Jason, whose death fundamentally changed Bruce. I dont think Jason needs to forgive Bruce or even give him the time of day, but Bruce must try and *not punish anyone if it doesnt go how he wants*.

probably the way to do this is to give both Bruce and Dick serious mental breakdowns. and maybe semi-retire them. I imagine them mellowing out a lot more when they're older and retired from vigilantism.

you can make their relationship and characters more, or less, fucked up but I believe the recipe still stands because Bruce's protective control and Dick's perfectionist caregiving are core dysfunctions for their characters.

Unfortunately I don’t have much to say lol, it’s a subpar intellectually lacking take. It’s my experience that people who try to justify things like fictional child murder don’t really care about how it affected the plot and are more focused on getting a *sick burn bro* against their *enemy team* and having bloodshed as entertainment, which like valid I suppose if thats what you like?

However taking on a *Team Black perspective* B&C was abysmal for the Team & specifically for Rhaenyra.

Why because it wasn’t necessary lol and did nothing for Rhaenyra or poor dead Lucerys.

(I can’t even touch on the Aegon threw a party thus child murder is fine hypocrisy when we know Daemon was actively doing the exact same thing when Baelon died. Literally the exact same thing. However team brain rot will have people thinking one was just emotional coping 🥺 and the other warranted child murder. )

Anyways though back on point. B&C does nothing for Rhaenyra positively or emotionally. B&C doesn’t avenge her child’s murderer. B&C is used to frame her as vile and deranged and it works. Why does it work because why would a feudal era society blame Daemon for B&C when it can blame the woman instead?

There is a reason GRRM doesn't let B&C occur and then be brushed away. No he brings back Helaena and her dead children as a key piece of propaganda to have Rhaenyra's own city turned against her. So much so she is expelled from it. Daemon's depravity was used to bring upon Rhaenyra's demise and it really didn't have to be that way. If Daemon was intelligent there were a number of options that could have actually made a positive difference for Rhaenyra and Team Black but ultimately B&C left Rhaenyra two sides both which were terrible. Either A she agreed that her sister should be tortured and her nephews murdered by a literal r*pist putting her in line with the likes of kinslaying Aemond or B she can't control the man she married who is going to ascend beside her on the throne.

The man she was named heir in place of to keep off the throne. The whole act just makes her as vile as Team Green who was murdering folks to get the throne, when she had an active upper hand being the individual who was wronged. There is also something especially ironic about George having these situations where Rhaenyra for better or for worse didn't necessarily *stand with women* come back to bite her big time. Mind you this isn't a judgement of Rhaenyra rather .... We have Daemon in Rhaenyra's name having an innocent woman and her child pay for a crime the males in her family committed and then that same situation is brought back to be used against Rhaenyra when the small folk rise against her partly in Helaena's name. We have Corlys telling her she is special and she doesn't need to extend inheritance rights to the two young ladies asking for it only for them to come back later and refuse her help when she needs it.

But anyways, the argument being well "Aegon had to suffer" falls apart pretty easily when you again look at the source material and realize Aegon was perfectly fine remarrying and having additional children. Additionally if the point is nonsensical vengeance and suffering well then the justification for the atrocity that was B&C can be used to justify Rhaenyra's own murder as Aegon avenging his dead son.

It's almost like slaughter breds slaughter and that was never the appropriate line of action especially not against innocents. Did Lucerys deserve to die, no. Did Jahaerys deserve to die, no. It's almost like it's all a pointless war. (Also the point of Rhaenyra being a bad mother I disagree with lol, I think she objectively loved her children very much, did she place them in a bit of precarious situation having them, oh absolutely but I think she adored them and was ignorant of the level of danger she was in. )

SHE FEELS LIKE SHE HAS TO. ALSO part of her resolve to kill him is that she feels guilty for leaning on naruto so mcuh and relying on him to fix things, so she wants to deal with this situation for both of them which makes this like. very potently an obligation for her. she is killing him as (in her eyes) a noble act. she's tired bro SHES TIRED!

she drops it because naruto gives her hope that theres another way, not because she shares naruto's refusal to accept that there ISNT another way; she has to be shown what it is (understandably so, narutos route is bonkers insane that boy is unwell.) she has absolutely been put through the wringer BY sasuke more than naruto has (in terms of their own povs; in actuality idk im not commenting on that) and chasing after him feels less like an active choice on her part and more of an obligation to the memory of the old team 7, especially in the tail end of shippuden. and again she doesnt understand why sasuke acted the way that he did like naruto does, so immediately the room for understanding is way more narrow on her end in terms of blaming his circumstances rather than him. so for her to be not really able to stand him and way less quick to drop it all, in comparison to naruto, makes soooo so soosoo much more sense than whatever the fuck happens actually. she should be so mad

hmmm well we all know i love my clever wordplay, i think for this one we'll veer off from what's probably expected and go to some point during nihlus's training. obviously they're somewhere cold and unpleasant on a mission, but for Meaningful Title's sakes, instead of the obvious answer of altakiril it should be somewhere significant to one of them, just during shit weather season. let's say carthaan in the winter, prairie winters are nasty. they have to actually be out in it, so... tracking a terrorist through the outback? sure, sounds good.

so it's a training mission, nihlus is expected to take point, they're tracking some asshole through the unsettled portion of carthaan during the winter, it sucks. saren obviously knows the planet well, he's from the outskirts of carthaan's settled areas, but he's being deliberately unhelpful to force nihlus to Learn Something™️, which keeps pissing nihlus off, and the weather isn't helping. but eventually, their hunt starts pointing them towards a tiny town at the very edge of civilization, and the closer they get, the antsier saren is... until the weather finally forces them to seek shelter, and saren leads nihlus to a little empty house, and tells him what happened there.

nihlus feels strange being in the childhood home saren was wrested out of much too early, especially knowing the family has been hanging onto it and keeping it up in the hopes that saren will eventually return there for good. at this point in the story, he still hasn't reconciled with his mother, and he hasn't opened up to saren what happened - but the house isn't as empty as it seems, and as the ghosts of saren's past settle down at the kitchen table with them, he finds himself digging up his own, forcing himself to face things he hadn't realized still hurt.

whoops that got away from the point of the title but uhhhh the numbness is in reference both to the actual cold shitty weather and how nihlus and saren both avoid thinking about their past and dont talk about it much, there

okay either this will be entirely as expected or not at all, depends how much attention you paid to the titles and taglines in bm, but here's the mood music because des's chapter in bm was title/taglined DIRECTLY from this song including the actual lyric "there's no use tryna save my soul":

so we know i want to write an echo of mitm eventually, got it planned out and everything, but that's valis's perspective. so, to keep it even... yeah dude we're echoing wake me when it's over. this fic would follow des while he's in the hastatim, fighting (and failing) to keep his head above water. he's tired, and traumatized, and he just wants to go home, but by this point he sees no way out. he misses his parents, his friends, his brother, his maybe-sometimes-girlfriend. he can't stay. he can never leave.

i think, because the hastatim were a very dark point in des's life, this wouldn't be a happy fic, or have a good hopeful ending. to echo wmwio, he'd be tired and drinking alone, longing for the way things used to be and trying to figure out how to get out of the situation he's in, but he's dangerously depressed and can't see any way out but to die - but he can't do that either, because what will saren and parmat do, who will tell his friends? he scrolls through messages, his friends trying to get ahold of him and try to stay connected, but he thinks talking to them will make the distance hurt worse, and he doesn't want to tell them what he's doing in case they turn on him, because the hastatim are feared and hated and who wants to openly admit to being part of it? so he's sad. and drinking. and making himself sadder.

and maybe, because i get frustrated writing fics that don't go anywhere, this is taking place on taetrus again, in that same tree valis found him in in mitm. in a fit of loneliness and depression, he's tearing off strips of bark and trying to weave them together, because maybe if he can make valis a vinco she'll never get, he can pretend he has a goal for his life just a little longer. and while he's doing that, getting frustrated because he's drunk and it's hard, he gets a new text, from the very person he wants so so badly to be there with him. valis is worried about him, because nobody's heard from him in months and saren has no answers, and where is he.

he wants it to be real. he doesn't think it is. he stopped praying years ago.

he puts a little more effort into making the vinco look nice, and sleeps curled around it clutched in his hand.

I'd say at first the twins both freeze to process what's happening and then fight But what's funny - the older Anillis and Hec-Tor get the worse they get at recognizing the danger They've grown to become so entitled and stubborn that they believe nothing bad can ever happen to them. What I mean is - the boys have zero self preservation skills and it kinda helps them not to feel fear in potentially dangerous and creepy situations They're also way too curious, they cannot be stopped by the chilling sounds, total darkness, creepy strangers etc. They would only get scared by, say, a feral beast, after it already bit their heads off. The hardest emotion to process - discomfort, for both of them. Anillis and Hec-Tor always yearn for attention and appreciation and they're ready to do anything to get it, be it participating in strange rituals, overworking themselves or accepting romantic gestures. And everytime it takes them so long to recognize their discomfort, to realize that they don't actually like what they're doing and how it makes them feel, that this feeling is unpleasant and they want it to go away The hardest emotion to express - grief, sadness, anxiety. They try so hard to keep this image of flawless confident people and in their minds it can be ruined by simply showing the "ugly" unappealing side of sadness or exposing their weaknesses It was always hard for the boys to deal with these emotions. At first there was their mother who would get annoyed every time the twins would remind her of their existence (especially by crying). Then their parents died, the twins coudnt cry for them and felt weird yet everyone else was happy about it for some reason, confusing them even more. Then there were their caretakers who would ignore the brothers when they were upset or worse - try to manipulate and use them whenever the two were at their most vulnerable Eventually Anillis and Hec-Tor learned to supress these emotions and now the brothers feel like they can't even cry anymore. Physically unable to. They have to literally force the tears out of themselves, cough the cry up, vomit it out - they cant just let these emotions out even if they want to Emotional neglect is no joke fr

Zom 100 is what I consider a very good example of withing the context of anime a diference between fan service and active sexism. Because yes fan service can and most often is sexist, but even when it is its a much more internalized kind, the sort of “women are never ever not fuckable, reguardless of the situation” and then there is “I hate women, they are whores and bitches. I want them to suffer and get off on their pain”

Because this series does both.

These two are fan service. They are at their core, characters and you can instantly tell they have something going on unrelated to sex and their outfits and general horny presentation is just there because the author likes thats and wants the sex appeal to to just be there because “theyre women why not make them sexy” they wear generally normal but appealing outfits that real people wear and are shown to do so willingly and for their own comfort. This is fine. Can be frustrating sometimes but I like boobs as much as anyone, they are very cute and pretty and I can live with it if not directly enjoy it.

This is misoginy. They arent dressed for the viewer to find them cute or appealing, but they are sexualized to a ridiculus digree both by the show and the male characters and all die horrifically, most in explicitly sexual ways, two being deeply slut shamed and sexualize in a way thats only done to actively degrade them, another one is made into a stereotype and is killed in a way that invokes a non consentual sexual act and one was made to be nurtering to the man who saw her as a literal point on a checklist and made to die alone for the sake of his minor character development. Especially the ofice lady her horrible fait is treated with intense joy, even by the man who suposedly adored her. This shows just such and intense hatred, and resentment towards women, the fact that they arent nearly as visually sexualized but are the ones actually having sex WITH THE PROTAGONISTS EVEN and then disgustingly shamed for it.

This is where you can notice when a creator is just horny and when they are an active misoginist. I have only seen three episodes of this show and dont really know much about the blonde girl but I will assume she is treated the same way as the other one with maybe at worst some “dosent realize shes being sexy” type deal just based of vibes. But I dont need to see more to know that this show hates women deeply. I was super hyped about this show and have put up with A LOT in the past. But this is so directly just direct hatred for women that I cant stand it. Because usually I can imagine that this is just how they feel about their art and dont usually think that way but you can so clearly see here what his fantasy and reality are that I am confident in my analisis of his views. It sucks. Especially with how it was seemingly progresive with its anti capitalist themes, its such a shame.

Marigold gets used to that

Shit doesnt last forever. Marigold Never Truly Lets themself be Known to someone else. The only memory of that they have is before they were a scrybe and friends with the beast one, which ended badly, because they became a scrybe and got amnesia.

So thats how they compartmentalize the world. Everything is a character. A puzzle. An arc to the next story. A means to the ends.

The introduction doesnt have to be ethical if the conclusion is what Marigold wants.

They live a fun life they enjoy, but one kind of… empty of connection and understanding. They can understand others deeply. They can even like, guess with Scary accuracy how theyll react in situations. But they know others will never know them in that way.

So enter scene new outlaw Buttercup.

Marigold locks onto this guy. Like. Hes like… 22 i think. Maybe? Hes 20 and Marigold goes ok my new pet project is to make this random guy open up to me, and usually thats something Marigold does in a few beers and a week as a hobby.

But Buttercups so emotionally constapated i dont think even he Knew what to open up abt.

So Marigold ends up becoming More and More invested in this guy, the longer Marigold tries to become friends with him and the longer hes , yknow, alive. And the pet project becomes ‘Quick friendship’ to ‘Become Genuine friends with this man’. None of Marigolds typical methods are working so guess they’ll have to be…gross. Honest.

Like imagine it kinda touch and go? Buttercup’ll do a crime that goes on the radar and Marigold will go oh sick and go over there in hopes of catching him, and then they’ll drag him on some outlaw adventure thats way fucking crazier then whatever he does and gets him into deeper shit later.

Marigold is genuinely the reason he starts opening up. Bc to Marigolds side, hes always kinda…idk. A brick wall. Getting words out of him that arent threats is an Accomplishment. Marigold probably doesnt even realize they’ve actually succeeded in becoming friends until Buttercup steps in to save Marigold from being killed or something.

And Marigolds like Oh. Shit. I accidentally invested way too much into this person because I was trying to get him to crack, but he never Cracked because his trust was something we slowly built up and earned. Fuck. And now its too late for me to bail because ill feel bad.

Afterwards they kinda just Happen Upon eachother every few months, do a crime or large month long scheme of Marigold’s, and then go their seperate nomad ways again, and honestly they were both happy with that. They’re friends but they’d actually strangle eachother if they were full time partners in crime.

And then Buttercup found Blair and Lottie. And became friends. And made connections. And then suddenly he was 1) becoming a cow 2) trying to…avoid doing crime?? Which was basically the same as Not Hanging out with Marigold. Which took Goldie awhile to realize hurt.

Like they just…didn’t talk for a year. And then I think they came upon eachother randomly while Buttercup had wandered away from Blair and Lottie’s campgrounds for a bit for some alone time and they had a Kinda Bitter conversation but. Like. Yknow when one party goes ‘no i dont want to do something stupid’ and then IMMEDIATELY go so something stupid?

So Buttercup ends up back on the. Erm. Criminal radar bc he got a bit fucked up and silly with Marigold bc he went ‘well fuck it. As long as im back b4 blair and lottie r up! Sure’. He basically had a new start bestowed to him in his hands but his bad habits and lifestyle before shanked him.

Look they’re soooo unhealthy for eachother its insane. They’ve fixed eachother in ways they’ll never realize. They’ve made eachother worse in ways that’ll never heal. Understand.

Buttercup eventually does look back, and. Ext time a year or so down the line Marigold finds Buttercup, I think Marigold and Bup have an argument abt .. like. Control?

Anyone that talks to Marigold basically becomes a butterfly effect. They’ll say something that’ll deeply effect someone else which will change something in the future and ect ect.

And Buttercup cracks abt his worries that Marigold idk. Yknow. Is a bit Fucking Manipulative and a bastard. And Marigold is Actually Hurt- because they purposely tried their damndest to NOT do that to Buttercup- or at least they never used their scrybe power to!! He was their test on if they COULD have a genuine relationship without underhanded actions. Marigold doesn’t know how to grapple with the fact it hurts Buttercup doesn’t believe them. You lie enough that every word out of your mouth is hearsay, and even your closest friends will doubt you. Maybe even yourself.

Was Marigold being truthful? Did they truly never say certain things or trap him in scenarios where the outcome favors them ? Can they trust themself when they say they didn’t?

Anhway when Buttercup Blair and Lottie disappeared and ended up in Sockscraft. Marigold didn’t Know that happenedfor awhile. So they just kinda assumed they were purposely avoiding giving any signs where they were just so Marigold wouldn’t find them.

Let me stress THATS THEIR ONLY FRIEND

Like they consider Buttercup to be their Only True Friend- but even then. Marigolds… never opened up to him.

Yeah. Buttercup picked stuff up from jokes and stories, but Marigold… idk. They put up enough walls upon walls that its hard to tell whats the protection and whats the house.

Marigold is completely caught off guard by how buttercup was the one who left them.

Marigolds always the one in control.

Marigold Knows where people go and Knows how to make them do what they want

And yet he still slipped out of their grasp.

This cements in their mind that what they were doing before meeting Buttercup was the smart thing. If you give people opportunities to leave then they’ll take them. Marigold’s emo phase. In reality they’re clearly unhappy and refusing to unrepress it.

Buttercup misses Marigold in the way you miss being a more naive person. A worse person. He misses being able to do awful things without feeling bad- just feeling happy hes with them and not thinking about why.

This gets worse when you dig into deeper feelings. They were definitely fruity in some fashion, but also very aromantic. Aroflux but your romantic feelings only lined up once in a blue moon and sometimes you weren’t even near eachother. And maybe you were just mixing up the joy of friendship and closeness for romance. Who knows!

Theyre destined to never really Be Together. Just like… There.

Like if u ever suggestted Getting Together Officially to the two of them they’d scrunch their nose and go Idk I dont feel romance things . Get out of my house

They’re always kinda.. its like. The comfort of knowing you have someone when you need someone and nothing more. This has always defined their relationship honestly.

These two make me mentally unwell. Very ill. Love loses. I hope I never see them again.

im watching the death note drama and taking notes of the differences between it and the anime/manga. this is episode 1:

EPISODE ONE:

They address the idea of an eraser but when u go to erase the name it just doesn't erase its like pen - the eraser isnt shown in the anime, but its in the pilot chapter of the manga.

in this version light isnt immediately like "oh im god now that i can kill" - like he goes to kill this bully from highschool that was terrorizing him and his friend, but he goes to erase it and cross it out because he quickly realizes he doesnt really want him to die. he also doesnt figure out the death note works right away, it isnt until the morning after that he finds out the guy died. when he finds out that the guy definitely died of a heart attack he almost throws up

this light is a lot different because the light in the anime already had a disreguard for human life. he already had the thought that some people are better off dead , but in the drama its other people that put that thought into his head. and we get to see the blank slate light that might have existed before the canon

light's mom is dead.

soichirou has "work before family" disease even ~10 years after his wife died and he was too busy working to be there at the hospital with her. so light's taken the role of parent to his little sister - he makes her breakfast and dinner because their dad is always at work and they dont have a mom

light also works part time at a cafe i think. and hes still studying for public service. he's starts at college, not at high school like in the anime.

this screenshot here shows off another aspect of light - he actually Has a personality as opposed to his Blank White Room bedroom in the anime. theres trophies and school-items, which shows hes still good at school and tries very hard, but then you have the deer head thing. its like. its cool! its art! theres personality there! he has personality beyond trying to be seen as a perfect student

the hostage situation actually happened with light's Dad as the hostage. light thinks the death of the high school bully was a fluke and is still doubting that the book works, but he runs home to write down the name of the guy who took his dad hostage anyways 

light has friends - when they asked about what he thought of kira, one of them chimed in and said "light hates crimes" and he just nodded like. "yeah.." like hes letting himself be the person that people think he is 

someone actually tells light about misa's parents being murdered by a guy. I think in the animanga he just killed the guy because he was a criminal, without knowing that he was killing MISA MISA's parents' murderer.

mikami is there and hes the one that tells misa that her parents' murderer is getting out of jail on parole

ryuk really likes openly mocking light, saying "is this the birth of a hero", applauding him when he killed lind l tailor, etc 

ryuk is also very into waiting behind doors that light opens

ryuk actually had to convince Light to use the notebook. light was originally going to kill himself to atone for the deaths of the 2 people he killed, even though they were both harming people he cared for

L is obsessed with gogo squeeze

watari doesnt hide his face when acting as an inbetween for L and the police

L actually invites soichirou to meet with him before getting kicked out of the kira case by the police force. soichirou meets L alone at the hotel, instead of with the kira task force (this was also before everyone else on the kira case quit, leaving just soichirou and the boys)

L made watari spray soichirou with disinfectant

He would be rather sweet,honest with his feelings. Not to say it wouldn't be awkward,i would be no exception. Because of past traumas. But he's moved past that for the most part. I hc he was just upfront. Nervous to hell. But honest and direct. He seems like the direct,no bullshit type guy. Honest and sweet tho. When he found i felt the same. You could see him smile. His face was warm and radiant. It could melt the coldest glaciers.

B - Broken heart (broken heart) - How will they behave if they find out that you cannot love them back? That you're in love with someone else?: now. I aint that kinda girl. If i was with kuai. Im a down,ride or die binch. But if some how. For some reason it had to end. Oof. He would take it fairly well at least on the surface. But deep down kuai would be hurt. Eventually he will come to terms. But it would always hurt him that there could have been something more. Honestly why would anyone hurt this mans heart is beyond me.

C - Communication - How do they communicate with the one they are in love with?: he actually communicates well with me. He makes sure that I've slept well,ate well,hydrated,etc. He also makes sure I'm well emotionally,mentally,etc too. He is good husband material ok? He also makes sure to let me know when he needs to have time for himself and also when its time to train his students. And any other lin kuei affairs. He isnt perfect tho. He does have messy days. This is where i help him lighten the load and take over for a short time if needed be to the best of my ability. Or even have him genuinely get some much needed r&r. But overall he tries his best to keep communication open.

D - Damage  (damage) - How will they react to your wounds or bruises?: honestly kuai kinda like hanzo gets worried easy. Who did this to me?! Where are they? But unlike hanzo. Kuai i feel wouldn't get as well heated. But you can feel still the anger seething from him,but he would tend to my wounds and discuss if he wants him to pursue the person or not. But if it was by accident,or even my own doing. Kuai i feel would be much more calmer. He would tend to the wounds. Kissing them tenderly. Tell me to be more careful next time.

E - Excuse (forgiveness) - Which of you is the first to ask for forgiveness after a quarrel?: look its not often we fight. If we do its over something that might be reasonable. But we do actually have healthy communication. I made that clear as ice for him when we got together. I wanted kuai to feel safe to trust and honestly given the shit he went thru. Yeah. Communication is hella important to him. Always touch base. Even if its simple as "hey i dont have the spoons to deal with this rn maybe later" thats hella sexy of him. But it would more likely be me but it could be both. Depending on the situation. Overall we never stay mad. (I honestly don't think i could no matter who im with)

F - Furious (furious) - How easily can they be pissed off? What can they do in such a state?: ok look don't piss off kuai. I mean for the most part he's a chill dude. But don't push him. His anger is cold,precise,and deadly. He'd never take his anger out on me tho.

G - Gaze (stare) - How often do they watch you? How do they react when you look at them?: he is the type to stare when im not looking. But oh boy is it full of love and admiration. If he caught me tho,he'd be a blushing mess. But he still loves it.

H - Hugs (hugs) - Do they like to hug? How do they hug?: kuai used to be a bit iffy with hugs before me. But now he's actually quite accepting to them. And hugs as often as he can. (Again like hanzo,kuai had to learn to feel love and compassion again. But for him it was hard because he had to unlearn that cold emotional shoulder that was taught to him for so many years. Oof) he still always asks tho. Because he's polite. But he gets a bit giddy when i wholeheartedly accept. He has bear hugs and despite being a cyromancer. His hugs are warm and comforting.

I - Intimacy (intimacy) - What is your intimate life with him?: ok sexy times or general intimacy? A sexy times hc is kuai likes temperature play. He just likes to be private to be more intimate most of the time. (Again i hc kuai over time became more lax with the restoration of the lin kuei when it came to affection. O - Objective (goal) - How will they pursue you?: he was unsure how to feel at first. But he actually found me endearing. And everytime we had a conversation,sometimes he would get lost in thought. Any cold feet he was getting would just melt away. After maybe of a month or so, i hc kuai was very upfront about his feelings. Nervous but also ok even if he got rejected. He didn't but still. He was quite happy when he knew i liked him back.

P - Pace (tempo) - How fast can they get close to someone?: it takes him a bit. But be patient with him. He's trying. Again he needs to sort things out. Give him at least a month. He's hella open with me tho

Q - Quizzcal (quirky) - How often do they joke? Do they like to have fun?: tbh before he met me he wasnt much of a joker. But over time he got to losen up a bit. He's a big teddy bear deep down. Tbh he loves snowball fights. And to make ice sculptures. Sometimes to show off. Sometimes because he wants to train with me. Look he tries. He's tired a lot of the time.

R - Relax (rest) - How often do they rest? How do they like to relax?: he tries whenever he can. Hot spring baths,meditation,and if im around sometimes he will ask for a massage. But if he's really stressed,a nice romp will work.

S - Saviour (savior) - Will they be able to protect you in case of danger? What will they do if your life is in danger?: he would most definitely. Tho i am capable of handling myself for the most part. But honestly if he was that pissed. And someone done fucked up bad. He would stop at nothing to end that person who hurt me.

T - Teach (teach) - Can they teach you something? Who will take the initiative?: oh course. We both have something to teach each other.

U - Uncertain - What is their reaction when they find out that you doubt yourself?: he actually is very sweet. He talks things out with me. He gives solid advice. But he knows i love hugs and physical affection when im not feeling so good. Also humor gets me thru. So he tries to make me smile. Dad jokes galore. You'd never know but he's actually quite funny.
