When I first watched Onyx Equinox I thought Yun's behavior was a bit inconsistent. He spent most of the first half of the season trying to get K'in and Izel to stop fighting and trying to keep K'in in check, but by the end of the season he was picking fights with everyone except Izel, even K'in. Now just because he's the heart of the group doesn't mean he can't have his disagreements with other characters, or that he should just be the peacekeeper and nothing else, but you'd think the guy who never held a grudge against the boy who broke his leg and almost killed him would be more understanding of Zyanya's situation, or that he would be more willing to give Xanastaku the benefit of the doubt, but he isn't. And after rewatching the show many times I think his problem is that he has trust issues and that they probably stem from Maak.
Putting the rest under a read more cause it got kinda long.
Yun straight up called him out in episode 3 about all the things he's hiding from them. Also "Honoch Maak" means "Old Man" in Yucatec Maya, and if I remember correctly Sofia Alexander said that's not his real name in the podcast, so that's another thing he's hiding from the twins. And then they find out that he sold children into slavery, and you can see that Yun was more affected by that than K'in. So because of this he's probably wary of people who keep secrets.
This is especially obvious with Xanastaku. He's had mixed feelings about her since they met. Every time they make one step forward something happens that makes him doubt her again. Even in episode 10 he's still suspicious of her despite saving Izel's life because she didn't tell them she had that power. Even when she's helpful he still has a problem with her because she's not being fully honest with them.
Now Zyanya is a bit different because she did betray them and almost got them killed, and that's reason enough to dislike someone even when you don't have trust issues. But like I said Izel almost killed him and he never even got mad at him, he worried more about Izel's wellbeing than his own. So I do think that the fact that he was willing to trust her and she broke that trust and that she hid so many things from them played a part in why he had such a hard time forgiving her, and even after he did he still didn't really acknowledge her or interact with her. Even in episode 8 Xanastaku told him "Trust us. Trust Izel", possibly implying that's something he struggles with.
And on the other hand this could be a reason why he and Izel mostly get along. Izel is an open book, he wears his heart on his sleeves and he never lied or kept secrets from the team.

Jake x tonowari x hybrid fem reader
(reader is omatikaya and metkayina mixed)
Takes place in the Metkayina Village
When men from both clans try and court the reader because of her body (because she had a big chest and butt) so she has to deal with men constantly trying to win her over even though they all know she has a mate already but they don’t care so when one of them gets frustrated and starts to say mean things about her and saying “your mates only wants u for your body and nothing else” to make her feel insecure about her body (because reader is very confident about her body and is not afraid to show it off to people letting people know how confident she is about herself) so she starts loss her confidence over what the guy said about her so unfortunately she starts to question Jake and tonowari about if they love her for the only her body. Jake and tonowari is trying to convince reader that’s not the reason why he chose her out of all people to be his mate.

“Cmon just a little peek. I know you like the attention.” A na’vi man leaned over to you, cooing at you to flash him. He had been at it for half an hour now, begging and bribing you into showing your goods. It was a great offense of him to take, but as long as your two lovers were out of sight it was free game for these men.
“I am mated with Olo'eyktan’s. It would be shameful for me to do so. It is also against Eywas will.” You tried one last time to scare the na’vi men off. Usually the mention of the clan leaders sent them running, but this one was different. His face contorted in disgust, anger. He stood quickly from the rock and scoffed, holding his hips as he began to dish you out. “That's alright. You know I was just trying to help you out.” He started. “Everyone knows they just wanted you cause you look good on their arms. They don't care about how fucking smart you are, or how fucking talented you are if you have any. They only care about your fucking body, and I bet they wouldn't even look your way if you didn't have all that junk hanging from your body.”
The na’vi man spat at your feet as he stormed off. This wasn’t the first jab anyone has taken on you about your body, but you couldn’t stop the tears that pooled in your eyes from his comments. Being more voluptuous than the average na’vi came with some perks, you were healthy, and more protected from the elements. The future perks would come when you would bare your children, often hearing your mom and grandmother speak of how their bodies handled their children well.
The negatives came from the objectification you were subject to. Everyone wore the same amount of clothing, but you seemed to be bothered more about it. It’s been this way since you were a teen, but you decided to embrace it. Walking confidently around the reef like no one could tell you anything. But you would be lying if it didn’t hurt to be seen as a walking doll.
You stood from the rock and rubbed your eyes, planning to take the long way home so you could process what just happened. Tonowari and Jake courted you a little less than a year ago, and it was surprising to say the least. Some Metkayina questioned why you out of all possible suitors. Now, you started to question it.
‘Everyone knows they just want you cause you look good on their arms’
What if Tonowari needed someone pretty to call his wife? One that wasn’t Tsahik material but one that had the privilege of being easy on the eyes to other clans. Jake was from earth, many of their women probably have similar builds as you. Maybe he chose you because he wanted something that could pass on Pandora and Earth.
Your chest tightened at these thoughts, and you found yourself mindlessly strolling into your pod, past your two lovers and into bed. You hadn’t even realized how fast you retreated to bed, until your two lovers joined you, positioning themselves on each side of you. Jake wrapped his hands around your torso, hugging you right below the breasts. “Rough day?” He asked. You didn’t fall blind to the positioning of his arms, but you shifted, nodding at his suggestion.
“Just tired.”
The next morning you woke right before sunrise, planning to meet up with Norm who was sure to have something that could help. He was in the village because of a small sickness that was spreading amongst the na’vi, so he was bound to be up all day and night.
“Norm.” You knocked on the pod entrance. The avatar stood from his desk and hit his head on a small lamp that dangled over him and his space. “Ouch! Hey.” He greeted.
“I need your help.”
“You sick too?” He began reaching for a mask.
“No! No.” You shook your hands frantically. “I was wondering if you had some clothes I could wear.”
“Clothes?”
“Yeah…like human ones.”
“Oh?” He tilted his head in amusement. It wasn’t often that a na’vi would ask for human clothes, especially the reluctance to divert from their normal traditional clothing. “Well I have some here.” He walked over to a tote that was labeled ‘extras’. He opened the box and began pulling pieces out, displaying them to you. “Well, we only have these jumpsuits, and long sleeves. Not a really pretty pick.”
You gleamed at the clothes, and how much skin they seemed to cover. This would be perfect, perfect enough to take the attention off of you. “I’ll buy it all!” you exclaimed.
“Y/n we have no one to wear these, just take them.” He looked at you concerned. You began stuffing the clothing into your bag and bid him goodbye, scurrying back home to put on the clothing.
You wanted to get dressed before your two lovers woke up, which gave you a small window to do so. In the mirror, you stared at the na’vi woman who had now become unrecognizable. A pair of cargo pants that slightly flooded and a long sleeve gray tee that hugged your breasts tightly, but still concealed the lax nature of them rested on your flesh. You never saw yourself taking measures like this before, but you needed to know, wanted to know how much your body was worth in this land.
Smiling, you spun around in the outfit one last time before walking into the main room. “Goodmorning Jake. Tonowari.” You said confidently. You could hear a pin drop at the silence that came after your arrival. The two men looked shocked to say the least. “Morning…” Jake looked at you up and down.
“New style?”
“Yeah. Gonna be like those earth girls.” You began to pose like a woman in an earth magazine you had seen before. Jake chuckled before looking down in his bowl. Tonowari still stood looking, with an…indifferent smile on his face.
Internally your heart pounded. They hated it.
You went to work and continued your duties as normal, fishing and distributing your findings amongst the Metkatyina. The clothes seemed to the exact opposite of what you wanted. Metkayina men and women stared at you, even more so than before. You never realized how invisible you were before you started to wear human clothes. It made you shy away, not wanting to speak or talk to your friends as you were embarrassed to face the question as to why you were wearing the clothing.
“Wow.’ A familiar voice came from behind. You turned around swiftly to see the same guy that had harassed you standing there with his friends. “The lengths you’ll go for some attention.” His group of friends began laughing, which caused you to ball your fists up.
“You look more pathetic than you did before.”
At that you swung, throwing a punch at the na’vi male before storming off with tears in your eyes. You arrived at an empty pod and immediately went to your small bag of human clothes, angrily ripping and biting at the fabric. You fought with the cotton and rolled around on the pod floor as you blanked out and animalistically destroyed the clothes.
“Hey. Hey!” The lights in the pod came on and you felt yourself being snatched up. Yanking yourself from their grip you looked at the two men questionably. “What do you want from me?” You spat.
“What?”
You began to cry, grabbing at your chest as you yelled at them. “Don’t play dumb! You only want me because of this right? You don’t care about me as a person.” You began ranting.
“Y-”
“I tried putting on regular clothes, ones that draw attention away from me. Clothes that are normal to your kind.” You pointed at Jake. “But you guys looked at me like I was crazy! Everyone looked at me so stupid!’ You cupped your face and began wailing.
You felt a warmth on your shoulders, hands, massaging the area.
“Y/n. We were surprised is all. You look beautiful in anything.” Jake reassured.
“Lies!” You spat. “You only look at me when I have no clothes on.”
“Wha- Y- No- Where is this coming from?” He said in disbelief.
You searched his eyes, trying to find a glint of inconsistency in his words, but you found none. You sucked in a breath and looked down. “Men have been…saying things to me. All my life.” You confessed. “They said…the two of you were only with me to make yourself look good.”
At this moment Tonowari stepped in, pressing Jake aside to grab you at the shoulders. “Who fed these lies to you? Tell me. They will be gone by eclipse.”
“That's not what I want!” You hissed. “I just…wanna know. Why did you really court me?” You looked at both of them.
Soft smiles began to spread across the mens faces, ones that told you alone that this whole time you were being foolish. “I saw how in touch with the ocean you were.” Tonowari recalled. “I saw you swimming late one night, beyond the reef, which was against the rules, but you were so…at peace.”
“I saw you dancing at a clan dinner.” Jake chimed in.
“I remember that! When she scared everyone with that yell she did.” Tonowari’s eyes brightened at the memory.
“We can go on and on about the strange, and beautiful things we've witnessed you doing. It was never about your body sweetheart.” Tonowari lifted your chin and kissed you, nipping slightly at your bottom lip as he did so. When the two of you pulled away you looked into each other's eyes lovingly.
“Don’t let anyone else damper your light sweetheart.”

— mikey taking his omega with him during a gang meeting
my masterlist : ☆
(not my best and I made it yandere + the spice isn't that spicy, I hope you don't mind though:/)
Tumblr media
YANDERE! ALPHA! MIKEY (kanto era)
mikey had developed a deep fear of leaving you alone. he isn't particularly expressive, but his thoughts are constantly assaulting him with horrible scenes of his loved ones dying and he'd rather die himself than let that happen to his omega.
you're very precious to mikey, indispensable and a necessity. he forces you to be by his sides at all time, ordering you to inform him whenever you want to go somewhere on your own -if he even lets you-.
gang meetings at night were a regular thing, mikey used to lock you up inside his room whenever he had to leave for one of them. but after you accidentally dropped a vase and hurt yourself to the point of bleeding, mikey was against that idea.
he brought you everywhere, demanding respect from his members for you. everybody knew who you were, despite never having once talked to you. you were like a precious doll people could only admire from afar, your guardian mikey being the only one allowed to consider you as more than an untouchable jewel.
you didn't know what mikey did that you sparked fear in the eyes of every man present. was it the scent of your alpha lingering on you, the way his eyes seemed to bore a hole into their head whenever they did as much as look at you? you didn't know, but they all kept their distance with you. the bravest only stealing weak glances your direction, while never actually approaching you. was it out of respect or out of fear for mikey? you weren't sure.
during the meeting, mikey kept you close to him. he towered over everyone at his usual spot, looking down at his members. you had a special spot next to him, on top of the stairs. you had to sit quietly, waiting for mikey to finish talking, all sweet and docile.
you mindlessly munched on the snacks mikey had bought you beforehand, to make the wait less boring. he knew you weren't that pleased to be here, but he was glad you didn't put much of a fight and just listened to him.
as you watched him, his back in front of you, you wondered how he could get so sweet sometimes. he, who was so fierce and menacing, feared by others gangs and even his own members. you liked the gentleness he showered you with whenever it was the two of you.
after those kind of meetings, mikey was always enthusiastic about showing you how much he cared and how he will never let anyone have you.
your exposure to the hungry eyes of other alphas always seems to spark a surge of possessiveness. how dare they look at you that way. mikey can only imagine the kind of thoughts they have upon seeing his precious omega. even with all his warnings, there still are reckless alphas who think they're worth more than you. who don't believe mikey would beat them up to a pulp just to ensure his omega's dignity and comfort are untouched.
mikey will send the others off at the end of that meeting. barking commands at them to leave the fastest they can, and they'll be left wondering who annoyed their leader. because despite mikey's temperament, he doesn't get mad pointlessly. he most usually acts on impulse whenever his omega is involved, so it isn't hard to guess what could have pissed him off if you pay attention to his reactions.
after everyone's gone, mikey is dragging you far into the temple, making you drop your snacks on the ground in the process. you can protest all you want but mikey doesn't care.
he pins you against of wall once he's sure you're both safe from any potential curious eye. he buries his head roughly into your neck, his nose nudging your scent gland, searching for the spot which lets out the sweetest scent. he's pestering your jawline with wet kisses, slowly travelling down your neck and softly bites your collarbone. you whine, gripping his blonde hair and abandoning yourself to him, completely at his mercy.
with dark eyes and wet lips, he finally looks at you, giving one last deep kiss to your panting mouth.
"I can't stand how they're looking at you, should just gouge their eyes out"
you laugh softly, knowing that despite his impulsive nature, he wouldn't act so cruelly, "don't, or you'll soon have no one else attending your meetings"
"might be better this way, nobody will ever bother us, and they won't watch so carelessly what's mine anymore", he continues his assault on your skin, drawing a few moans out of you. he makes sure to leave red marks, putting his claim on you as if it wasn't already clear that you were his.
he relishes the sighs of pleasure you let out. he feels proud and satisfied to be the one eliciting such vulnerable and intimate reactions out of you.
that's right, you were his omega only, and those alphas could look at you all they want, but in the end, mikey was the one able to touch you this way, to play out any fantasy he had while the others could only dream.
you were his to own and possess, mikey had put his claim on you and from that moment onward, you had nowhere else to return to if not his arms. mikey will always make sure you'll stay with him, safe and sheltered. he'll give all the affection he has to give, all the love he can provide. and you'll love him despite his fucked up self and suffocating embrace.
"you know you're mine, don't you? you're such a pretty little thing, love you so fucking much baby"

pick a pile: "Your manifestations: at what stage are they?"
take a breath and choose the photo or number that calls you the most to find out where you are in your manifestation path and when you may be able to see them in the 3d. reminder that the message may not refer to ALL of your manifestationns at the same time: the message may address to the most important to you atm or in general for your growth/self. try to adapt according on your guts/intuitive feeling.
don’t take the reading too seriously. only take what resonates with you and leave the rest. if you're not called by any pile, let this reading slid as it may not hold messages for you. if you're called by more than one pile, there may be messages in each of those piles. remember that is a general reading and some things may not resonate with you. energies can change and readings are based on present ones (as you read); you're always in charge of your life.

pile 1
Pile 1 you're probably trying to manifest different things (either each one of you have many wishes/manifestations going on or that's the general energy of the pile as someone may be for example manifesting a job, someone else love...). I think there are at least 3 big manifestations or groups though (but more likely each of you may have 3 manifestations going on or sth like that). It may be that a couple of these dreams are put on hold from the Universe in order to make you ready through more experience but another one may even be manifesting suddenly. And I think it could be the one you probably care the most about and are working the hardest to reach. Or the one you deserve the most atm and for many could be *new* connections (not just romantic love but also work connections and friends -in particular). So yeah maybe right now you cannot see anything but you're asked to keep working diligently and with determination, to take charge of what are your possibilities and powers and use them. It may even manifest kinda soon but the choice depends on you too. Try to not worry too much if you cannot see results or signs in the 3d yet or constantly, be bold and keep going.
I think following the moon phases can help you, maybe you're called to meditate to manifest under the moonlight or use moonstones too; or ask the moon for guidance. Not sure if the upcoming lunar eclipse will enhance your chances but it may be worth trying. Your glass is full now so don't worry, let your guards down (if you insecurities are connected with a lack of trust or anything like that; probably your heart chakra still needs some healing still or to be more open after an old wound you had to experience -you probably had to deal with some sort of betrayal/judgement, I'm sorry you didn't deserve it at all) and take a leap. It's up to you, work on ending your worries and don't let them make you give up on your hopes cause I do feel sometimes an hurt side of you may give a lot of importance to any slightly negative "feedback/event" happening and make you want to retreat and give up. Please don't. Accept what has been (you cannot change the past), nurture yourself but remind yourself that you can change your future if you let yourself try: you're different from the person you were and so are the people you're gonna meet or are around you already. You can survive anyway and Universe is on your side too (one by one you'll manifest whatever you want, you just need to start the process, even if you feel like you're not ready to -you are, trust your guts not your fears). Let others in, let others see you.

pile 2
Hi pile 2, you probably are focusing and meditating a lot to manifest your wishes. You probably follow groups about manifestations or have a manifestation/meditation group in which you all pray together or follow guided manifestations meditations. Maybe you have chants you repeat or something like that. I see you as very committed to your manifestation process. And you don't seem alone in this: maybe your Guides are supporting you and giving you even more power or guidance, maybe they give you ideas through dreams or something or send you to the right readings (make them appear in front of you) that can help you find infos on how to manifest. Your devotion is probably caused by the fact that you really want to change something in your life, maybe an old hurting cycle you've been in for too long. And you will be able to ofc. Keep focusing on your inner knowledge but also on what you can learn from the outside, maybe from more knowledgeable spiritual guides or people you can find (or are sent to). You'll be able to balance your probably kinda negative past with an equally good positive future (if not more). For now things are hidden, especially the timing of your success, but know that your efforts are seen and supported and things will change as you need and deserve.
I think some of you should change a little how much time they spend on their manifestations: it's not about it, it's not about how much dedication you show. The Universe knows of your needs the moment you send them out of you, so let them go. Let your prayers go too. The moment you ask with good intention for something, you'll get your answer. To keep insisting on asking the same thing in as many different ways as you can find online or in books, it won't make things faster or better. Try to relax a little and not stress over your manifestations. Attract them fastly by letting them go too.

pile 3
Hey pile 3, you're going to experience something new pretty soon. A new spring/start. It could be love for some of you but not necessarily: it could be also something you love, like a passion of yours transforming in a job or finding the job of your dreams... You're surrounded by a lot of warmth and kindness and probably you like to give these away too: you're gonna get them back as well. Keep following your intution as it is guiding you towards your manifestations too (and not just vice versa). I think things in your life may be changing a lot soon, like almost 180° change and you're called to be welcoming of this change even if it may feel scary at first (cause you're not used to something so different from your present life, and that's okay). You may be getting a good news soon, or you may be travelling or get into a new partnership (for many romantic, for others in work or school). All in all, you're gonna be very happy in this new position, even if again at first you may start developing insecurities and fears (and maybe you have a few already now and then just by imagining yourself in there) but that's normal: give yourself time to get acquainted with a new reality and just let go of control and enjoy every step of it.
I think some of you may have control or perfectionism (self worth insecurities) issues or something like that. You're called to have a talk with yourself and realize where these fears and insecurities come from and remember: you can only control yourself and perfectionism doesn't exist. Do not hold such high standards for you (even if it comes from a trauma you had to experience as in you having to overwork in order to get praise or recognition -sorry about it, know that you're worthy no matter what you were made to believe), you can try your best and make mistakes: the mistakes/failures of today are never the ones of tomorrow. You grow experience everyday also thanks to what goes wrong. Be positive and take care of you. You're worth of whatever you're wishing for and going to get, do not let your fears take it away from you.

pregnancy scare with charles leclerc? angst then fluff plz 🫶
A Forever connection
A/n: my first fic, hope you like it 💗🫶
Please don't be a ghost reader 🏎
Tumblr media
"Are you ok, mon amour?" Charles asked as he softly rubbed your back while you were throwing up. It was early morning and you had been like this for 2 days now, constantly throwing up and feeling tired
"Yeah, yeah, I am" you muttered a soft 'thanks' as charles handed you a towel
"Are you sure, we should check this out you've been sick for a while"
"I'm fine, it's probably just a stomach bug" you brushed your teeth while sometimes glancing at charles, only to see he was already looking at you. "Really, thanks for your concern, but I'm fine" you leaned down and kissed his cheek softly.
.
"Y/n!" Charles called out from the living room while you were in the kitchen. "I've been thinking-"
"Ah, that's new" you joke but he doesn't doesn't laugh or show any expression, which causes you to stop what you're doing to get near him. "What's up?"
"Y/n, do you think it's possible that you might be pregnant?"
"What?, no, of course-" you start to answer but freeze because when you do think about it, your period is late a few days, but you had thought it was just work stress. While you were doing all your thinking, charles was just staring back at you, waiting for you to finish processing your thoughts and you didn't realise he was calling you until he reached for you and pulled your hips slightly to him
"Chérie"
"No, Charles, it can't be, i'm not...you're not, damn it Charles we are not even togheter, we're just friends" it wasn't a lie, you had agreed from the beggining that you were just 'fuck buddies', you liked spending time toghter but both of your lifes were pretty busy, you were sort of a stress relieve to each other and now this
"Hey, hey, look, whatever happens, i'm here" he pulled you into a hug and you didn't realised you were crying until you saw charles shirt get wet
"i'm sorry, i didn't mean to-"
"Hey, no, i get it, it's scary, but i'm here, everything is gonna be alright" he softly brushes a lock of hair behind your ear
"Charles, i'm- i'm scared"
"I know, me too, there's only one way to find out, ok? You have to take a test"
"yeah, i know, can you...hm, can you pick one up, please?"
"yeah, of course, i'll be right back, okay?" he pulled you in for a kiss before grabbing his coat and keys and leaving
The time you were alone was excruciating, you kept thinking about the what if's, of course you wanted kids one day, but first you had to find your person. If only you hadn't gotten drunk months ago and slept with charles, none of this would have happened, it was supposed to be a one night thing, you respected your friendship too much to ruin it, but he's charles, in his funny charming way he stole your heart and you stole his, not that you were aware of it. You hadn't realized yet but when you thought about the future, you had charles in it, and not as a friend, you kept pushing those thoughts away because he was just your friend, your best friend even and you were sure he didn't felt the same
What you didn't know was that charles was thinking the exact same thing you were, all the way from the pharmacy to his apartment, where you were staying. It killed him every time you called him friend, because he knew he wanted to be more than a friend to you.
"Hey, I'm home" Charles called and you got up from the couch, tears threatening to fall, but you refuse to let them.
"Okay, let's do this, I'll be right back" you said grabbing the bag from his hands.
After a few minutes you showed up at the living room, finding a thinking charles sitting on the couch. "So?"
"I haven't looked yet"
"Well, let's do it together then" grabbing your hands softly he sitted you on his lap, arm wrapped protective around your waist. "Whatever happens, I'm here, not gonna leave you"
You nodded softly as you opened your hand revealing a test with one line
"What does that mean?"
"It's negative" you said and he hugged you
"Hey, it's good right?" He asks brushing you hair softly and kissing your temple
"Yeah, yeah, I don't know why I'm crying, I didn't want a kid right now, I just, it was a lot of emotions"
"I know, I know" he leaned back on the couch and pulled you into his chest. You don't know how long you stayed like that, it felt like an eternity, yet you didn't want to move. Charles was the first to break the silence.
"I can't do this anymore"
"What?" You asked confused
"I can't do this anymore y/n, I can't keep pretending that I don't love you. How know how much it kills me that I can't hug or kiss you in public, that I know that every time we are together, we're still gonna be just friends, that I can't bring you to any family dinners. Every time I talk about you, I smile, hell, every time I think about you, I smile because you're the best thing in my life. And even though none of us wanted a kid, it would be nice to know that there was something connecting you and me forever. So, no, y/n, I can't do this anymore because I know that we can't be more than friends"
You stood there looking at him as he let it all out, not saying a word, because how could you, everything he was saying was a thousand times better than all that you had dreamed about. You couldn't find the words, so instead, you kissed him, a different kind of kiss than all the other times, because this time, it was the promise of something more.
Charles took a second to realize what was happening but when he did, he kissed you right back with the same love that you did.
"I love you" you said as you broke the kiss
"Wait what? How?"
"Charles, I've been in love with you forever, you just never noticed, you idiot"
He chuckled softly before pulling you in for another kiss "Your idiot, mon amour"
"And for the record-" Charles pulled back to look at your face "-I'm in love with you too"
Much more kisses were exchanged, this time, hungrier kisses, passionate kisses, because you both knew, that this time, you weren't just friends.
Maybe some scary things happen to leave room for the best things to come.

Another request because I just thought of the funniest thing, if you’re up for it😅prompt 14
14. "Do you want me to kiss it better?" Except in a different concept. Would I be able to get it with Star? And the reader is dating one of the boys so naturally they’re in the cave as well. They end up bringing Star out of her refined shell more by joking around with her. So like a sarcastic sibling, they’re constantly messing with Star but is more gentle than the guys when it comes to it.
I hope you like this!😘
-------------------------
Star hadn't known what to think if you when she was first introduced to you by David. He said you'd be hanging with them now and that - apparently - you were mated to one of them. David, however, did refuse to tell to whom, something that annoyed Star greatly and was probably the cause of her coldness towards you in the beginning.
She kept to herself, hardly even greeting you when you entered the cave. Hardly acknowledging you whenever the boys included you in a conversation, which obviously was all the time.
It wasn't until almost a year had passed that Star began to realise that you'd be staying and that you really weren't that bad. But by the time she realised that, she didn't know how to change her act anymore. She'd been cold towards you for almost twelve months, and suddenly changing that and becoming cosy with you? It felt wrong and off. She did, however, start to acknowledge you a bit more. Nothing much, just a small quiet "hey" whenever you entered the cave, but it was something, right?
"Oh my god!" Star looked up as she heard your voice. "You- you can see me?"
She rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile shyly. "I just said hi."
"That's more than you've ever spoken to me ever since I met you. What, did you find a dictionary or something?"
If it hadn't been for your teasing tone, Star would have - well, she didn't know what she would have done, but she would not have continued talking to you, that's for certain.
Moments like that happened more and more often. Star still didn't really consider you a friend, but slowly but surely she came to see you as one.
"Are the boys in?" You'd ask one night, entering the cave. Star shook her head, causing you to shrug.
"That's a shame." You held up a bag. "You want some cake? It's fresh."
"You bake?"
"Sometimes. I wanted to share with the boys, but since they're not here, I thought, why not share with you."
Star frowned at that - were the two of you already that close to share homemade food? Still, she took a slice - inspecting it before bringing it to her mouth.
"It's poisoned. Sorry."
"What?!"
"Kidding! Jesus, why would I poison cake? If I were to poison something, I'd go with an apple or something. Something classy, you know?"
"I don't know if poison is that classy," Star mumbled before taking a bite.
"Sure it is, it's mess free. Well, mostly anyway. Why would you be so scared of me messing with your food?"
"Have you eaten with the boys?"
"Yeah?"
"They never tricked you?" Star asked, slight surprise written over her face as she saw you shake your head.
"What, like, forcing me to eat worms?"
"Yeah?"
"No?"
"For real?"
"Is that why you're so -" you motioned towards her, "with the cake? Scared I force you to eat frogspawn? Snailslime?"
"Ew!" Star made a face, dropping her cake in the process. You couldn't help but laugh, pulling her in for a hug.
"Oh no, that poor slice of cake!"
Star laughed, coughing loudly as she inhaled some crumbs. "Poor-" she coughed -" cake?"
"Yeah! It fell so high, all the way to the ground, it's sad!"
"How about me almost dying on your cake?"
"Hey, it's your fault for inhaling it, I told you there's no poison in there," you grinned before asking if she was okay.
"Well, I guess."
"Do you want me to kiss it better?"
Star raised an eyebrow as she looked at you. "What? Why would you kiss me better?"
"Hey, I was asking the cake alright? It fell and broke."
Star laughed, shaking her head slightly as she looked at you. Damn, she regretted being so cold the year before. You were different than she'd expected, and you were definitely someone she wanted to keep around. So when you offered her another slice, dramatically saying farewell to the fallen one - by feeding it to Marko's pigeons - she readily took one.

Heyaaa, I have an ask to ask, how about the region leaders (Jean, Ningguang and Raiden) with an S/O who has an extremely dangerous skill (Like Blackbolt or even Shigaraki) but is someone extremely sweet and caring. But seeing himself cornered and forced to release his maximum strength, but he is brooding afterwards for having injured his enemies
A unique encounter - Jean, Ningguang & Ei x Bioweapon!Reader
A/N: Hello anon. Since you have an ask to ask, I have an answer to answer! This is probably the strangest fic I've written so far. Enjoy nonetheless!
CW: Male!Reader, Uroboros-like parasite, a little body horror? Idk.
Tumblr media
You were abducted by the Fatui at an age too early to remember your parents, or anything about your past really. For years your home was a claustrophobic cell, and the only companions were the researchers. They constantly visited you, drugged you into sleep and carried you off to who knows where. Every time you would wake up with your arms sore and no shred of memory of what happened.
You didn't feel the effects of whatever they put into you until a few years later, in your early teens. You started feeling movement inside your body, wrapping around your organs and constantly pulsing. The parasite moving inside you caused enormous pain, an anguish both mental and physical. It was agony for the first months, but it would soon become more bearable when the being matured
It turned out that it tapped into your central nervous system, letting you control it. Over a few years you taught yourself how to control the black tentacles, and overall live in some kind of symbiosis with the thing. You practiced drawing the ropes of writhing flesh from your left arm, rendering it mostly useless in the process - the appendages were small and stretchy, yes, but they needed space to move nonetheless.
When you felt ready, you used the infection to break out of captivity. The thing turned out to be a great tool of destruction. With a flick of your wrist you could crush skulls, snap spines like twigs and rip open heavy iron doors. Fighting with the parasite was painful to say the least - the tendrils ripped and stretched your entire arm, leaving you moaning in agony even days afterwards.
Despite the years of abuse and captivity you felt no satisfaction in taking revenge. You experienced the kind of pain and fear you wouldn't wish for anyone, even them. You kept the killing fast and as painless for them as possible. You couldn't have witnesses who would order a search for you. Still, the realization of how many families you broke apart was heavy on your heart. And so, after reaching freedom, you grew a deep disdain towards violence.
Before you left the icy wastes of Snezhnaya, you made sure to go through and steal all the documents contained in the lab. They provided crucial insight to your affliction. It turned out the disease wasn't infectious, and, if the parasite's lifespan came to an end, it could never be recreated. You've destroyed the remaining samples and burned down the laboratory, leaving South in search of a new life.
Tumblr media
Many people made requests to Jean daily. The acting grandmaster often found herself overwhelmed with commissions. Not many of her coworkers, even those who cared for her wellbeing like Lisa or Kaeya, helped her out with work. Let alone the citizens of Mondstadt, who treated Jean more like a machine than a human with a need for free time and relaxation.
That was before a certain individual popped into her life. She heard about him before, and saw him plenty of times out on the streets, just going about his business. Whenever she passed by, he asked if he could be of assistance. It was annoying to her at first, or so she told herself. She was the acting grandmaster, for crying out loud. It should be her duty to do all the work, right? But when she actually relented and gave him some menial tasks to do, Jean found herself enjoying this immensely. It was great to have someone helping, someone caring, someone reliable and trustworthy.
As much as he was caring, gentle and oh so lovable, there was something strange about him. A simple thing really. You always wore long-sleeved clothes and never used your left arm much. It wasn't that weird until she sneaked a glance of her crush without his top. The left arm was all wrapped in bandages and secured with belts, especially around the wrist. Just an injury, she thought. That is, until she started paying closer attention to you. The bindings were always on, and you never loosened the tightening leather as well. Being an honest person, she confronted you about it.
You tried to excuse yourself or lie your way out every time she asked, but Jean was far from oblivious. She knew an obvious lie when she saw one. So you showed her.
A mess of black tentacles, coupled with your pained moans, coming out of your wrist was not something she expected in the slightest. Keeping the thing drawn, you explained everything you knew about it, along with how you've come to be afflicted with it.
You expected disgust from her. Loathing, resentment, or even exile. But what you found was… empathy. Since it wasn't dangerous to anyone you came into contact with, it was fine in Jean's books. And you couldn't live without it as well (she had Albedo run tests and confirm it later). It was just a part of you, as unconventional as it was. She accepted it just as she accepted the rest of you.
She knew how much her S/O hated fighting. Whenever they were outside with her, she would always keep an eye on possible threats. It was her who did the fighting, despite your superior power. Yet she couldn't predict what happened one day. An ambush from a large group of Hilichurls and Abyss Mages proved too hard for her to handle alone. So, very regrettably, she had to ask you for help. Pushed up against the wall, facing the risk of getting Jean injured, you moved to attack. You fought together, and managed to beat back the assault.
When you saw the corpses, the blood and just the overall massacre you caused, you couldn't beat back the guilt. Hilichurls, though less intelligent than humans, we're still living beings. They felt pain just as any creature. You kept brooding over the events for just a minute - until you saw how Jean was handling it.
And she was far worse off than you. A slurry of apologies and self-loathing flew your way.
"I'm so, so sorry Y/N… I-I was too weak to handle this… I… failed you… Please forgive me…"
Despite your best efforts, it soon escalated into a breakdown as all the stress she amassed over the month washed over her. You assured her it's okay, that it's not her fault, that you can take it. She slowly calmed down. She doubled her protection effort in the following days, so much so it turned into near babying you. She stopped after a good, solid dose of reassurance that you will be fine.
Archons, this woman needs a break.
Tumblr media
You were certainly an interesting case for Lady Ningguang. You came to Liyue Harbor one day, and it looked like just about everybody liked you. Especially the kids. It was was when she went to visit her little informants that she met you. Despite your serious appearance, you played with them without a care in the world. After she delivered the usual sweets, she struck up a conversation. Ningguang soon found that you were simply a fun person to talk to and generally be around. After a few dozen encounters she grew fond of you. Very fond, in fact.
When you started living together, she noticed something peculiar about you. You were eating a lot. She found you eating heavy, protein rich foods like meats, be they fresh or dried, almost all the time. Despite this unusual and clearly dangerous diet you never seemed to gain weight. Actually, you remained more or less underweight. Caring about your safety, she suggested that you see a doctor. You remained unwilling, regardless of how much she bothered you. She could only sigh. It was ultimately your call.
It wasn't weird for her that you didn't like fighting in general - neither with weapons nor with words. She didn't mind standing up for you and doing the talking whenever the situation demanded it. It gave her the familiar, delightful sense of power. Your pacifism didn't bother her, at all in fact. It was refreshing to be around someone not willing to climb up bodies to reach their goal. It raised some concerns for your safety, as your unassuming posture added doubts about your potential combat prowess.
Her suspicions were completely blown away one day. Being such a high profile individual as Ningguang brought about plenty of interest, usually not in a positive sense. It wasn't a surprise to her that there were people, especially Fatui, who wanted her dead. It was only a matter of time and they would send agents to strike at either you, or herself. That day just had to come while she was on a date with you. The three agents got the jump on you, and managed to wound Ningguang in the shoulder. You were her only defense, and as much as she believed in you, a part of her knew it would be the end. But then… something ripped open her lovely S/O's wrist and a swarm of pitch black tentacles came out.
Both her and the Fatui screamed in terror at this sight. Using their momentary shock, you defeated them with a few swipes of your weapon. Ningguang didn't know that a human's spine could be snapped so effortlessly. Before long, you were next to her, asking if she's okay. Your girlfriend felt… a lot of things at that moment. Confusion, fear, disgust, worry… She just remained speechless for a solid minute. Being ever the reasonable woman, however, she got herself together and led you to Bubu Pharmacy to get your injuries patched.
There was no time to think over what exactly you had done just minutes prior, as you were bombarded with questions. What exactly was that thing? Is it a parasite? Is it infectious? Is it dangerous? Does it hurt? And where, by the holy Celestia's name, do you keep that thing? You took your time to explain exactly what she's dealing with, along with presenting the stolen data and your life story. This calmed her a little, but she still needed time to get comfortable with the fact. She tolerated that of course, well, as long as it didn't touch her. Some absolutely horrifying silly tentacle thingy is not going to bring down the wonderful person her S/O is in her eyes. But don't think you'll get a pass on the teasing just because you're her lover. Oh, not at all, in fact. You'll get to hear a lot, and I mean a lot of one specific question.
"Don't you have any more… unusual… surprises for me in store, my love?"
Tumblr media
If there was a better place than Inazuma for escaping from one's past, you would certainly have gone there. You expected everything from that strange land, yet it still managed to surprise you. Surprise you by having Inazuma's Archon pay special attention to you.
Ei spotted you one sunny day while strolling on the main street of the capital. You weren't doing anything specific, just buying groceries. You weren't unusual by any means - just a typical guy, more attractive than the average male for sure though, doing daily things. Yet Ei's gut feeling and a few thousand years' worth of experience told her something was deeply off about you. The vessel was designed to differentiate the seven elements, as well as things living and dead. She noticed your aura was glowing much brighter, just as if there was something else, something very much alive inside you. This piqued her interest, and she decided to investigate.
Of course, Ei decided to do her detective work her way. Which involved sending out Kujou Sara in the flesh to snatch you right from the streets and lead you before the throne. You were, of course, beyond mortified. Barely two months in the country and you already attracted the Archon's attention? This surely spelt death for you, you thought. When she commanded you to show her the very-generally-put "additional life inside you", you had no choice but to reveal the parasite.
Sara nearly puked at this horrible sight, and the guards were all ready to cut you into little cubes. Ei, much to everyone's surprise, thought something entirely different.
"Oh! Hmm, borrowing Miko's words I would say it looks quite… interesting."
The reaction to her words could be described with a single, simple what. Ei got up from her throne, and started circling around you. The way those tendrils wiggled and swayed was quite mesmerizing, and she couldn't keep her eyes away from you. Being stared at by someone of her magnitude, you endured the pain in fear of angering her, and remained still like a statue. Still, until the pain of your muscles tearing and stretching overpowered your will, of course. You fell unconscious in a pool of your own blood and antiseptic slime, right before her eyes.
You woke up patched up inside a luxurious bed. Ei had you taken care of by a doctor. Despite your inner pleas, you were too weakened to leave the bed for long, so your visit at the Tenshakuku stretched on. All the while Ei has been visiting you many times a day, constantly asking you various questions about the affliction. With no other option than to surrender to her will, you answered all her queries. She found it simply amazing how, with such a frail mortal body, you managed to live with this inside you at all times. Many times you had to show her the tentacle. After Ei heard from you that living like this was nowhere near pleasant, her first instinct was to take the thing out. When she summoned her polearm you had to hastily explain that you actually couldn't live without the parasite. It's body made up for plenty of your missing, very vital bits. She deflated, and decided to stop asking you to draw it. You shouldn't feel pain just to satisfy her childish curiosity, she thought.
Yet after a day of not talking to you, she found herself bored. Bored and frustrated with most things, and wondering about what you were up to. Regardless of her will, Ei returned to you over, and over again. She started spending lots of time with you. She dragged you out for walks, had tea parties with you, and even used the royal hot springs with you (it was weird at first, as Ei had no clue about her behavior being quite unfitting of an empress, but you got used to her quirkiness eventually). You had to turn down plenty of sparring offers and her requests to show how the tentacle is used in fighting. She stopped shortly after finding out you weren't very keen on violence in any of the many forms it could take. She respected that greatly. To make up for all the trouble she caused you (Ei understood that only a few months after you started dating, and more or less a year after you've met for the first time), the Shogun swore to protect you wherever you went. It was logical for her - being the strongest one brings about an obligation to protect others.
But even she couldn't be everywhere at once. The Traveler was passing by, and Ei soon fell into a rabbit hole of their problems. She wanted to help them as a means of saying 'thank you', but leaving you alone like that made her quite uneasy. She impatiently waited for an opportunity to excuse herself, but it never came. Only when you called for her, through an enchanted ring she gave you, did she leave. The distance was too long to reach you in time, and Ei arrived at a bloodbath. Over a dozen ronin, probably seeking an 'easy gain', tried to kidnap you. They expected a frail nobleman, not a biological weapon.
Ei found you on the ground, writhing in pain and discomfort. She scooped you up, and carried you bridal style back to the palace's medical ward. As the physicians worked on patching your injuries, Ei held your head in her hands and spoke softly.
"I'm so, so sorry you had to do this, darling. I should have been there, just as I promised. I hope you can forgive my incompetence."
Despite your words and reassurance that it wasn't her fault, Ei would decide to not let that happen again. Ever. She promised you that you would never have to kill anyone again, no matter if she had to be by your side at all times to fulfill her promise. Keeping you away from harm was the least she could do for you, and she would do it as long as you were around.

The only thing on your mind is hiding. Surviving.
How they manage to find out your true identity, you don't know. How did it turn out this way?
Your lungs were burning from all the running—the cold cutting through you like knives.
One moment, you were preparing herbal teas; the next, you heard people gathering in front of your door, ready to storm your door to tie you to the stake.
You've been nothing but careful. You never use your magic in the open and constantly integrate yourself with the other villagers. You were always familiarizing yourself with everyone and blending in.
But even that wasn't enough. Up until yesterday, no one seemed to be suspicious of you. So then again- how did it turn out like this?
So you run in hopes of somehow saving your life. Your magic wouldn't obey you. You have tried multiple times by now. But all of your efforts were in vain.
Then you saw a clearing. You knew this way. It led to a cave with ancient runes. If you managed to reach it, you could teleport to the next village with the help of a spell, and there you would-
But just as your little glimmer of hope came, it vanished into thin air when you tapped into a hunter's trap and were caught hanging from a tree by a net.
You couldn't even blink as you were processing what was happening. "No! No, no, no!" you tried to pull at the strings. Pathetically trying to escape the trap, but it was too late.
"Ha! She's here! She fell for the hunter's trap!" one shouted.
You couldn't understand why your powers didn't want to work. It didn't make sense. Why did this have to happen to you?!
Tumblr media
SPLASH
You were roughly pulled from unconsciousness by ice-cold water.
You were in a dungeon. Through a small opening, some daylight came in, but you couldn't see more. This opening was small enough to push a book through but nothing more. It's been three days since you were caught. Always brought from one place to another.
You had expected to be chained to the stake the second they got you, but you've learned that before they officially deposed you, they wanted to torture you for you to reveal the location of the higher circle of witches.
You have yet to learn how they even got wind of the higher circle existing. But you wouldn't say a word. You would die either way. So to hell with them!
So, while enduring all forms of torture, you haven't muttered a single word.
"You stupid bitch!" Another blow with the whip. "JUST TALK ALREADY!" It hurt. So very much. You were panting due to the loss of your breath from the impact.
You prepared for jet another blow, but it never came. Instead, the door was forcefully kicked down, revealing the man you have been thinking about as your safe place for the last few days.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence. No one dared to move. Your eyes began to swell with tears, and for the first time in the last couple of days, you felt relief and hope fill you.
"Ken?" your voice not much louder than a whisper. Afraid to break the spell and all of this being an illusion.
When his brown eyes finally met yours, "What do you think you're doing to her?" you almost choked on a sob that escaped you. He was real.
"I- Your majesty- I- She's a witch?"
Majesty?
You met Ken when you were out in the woods one day. He was trying to get Yuji, a soldier in training, to a healer. He was attacked by a bear, and the animal almost tore him apart.
You saved him that night, revealing your identity in the process too the two men and them swearing they wouldn't say a word.
Ever since then, they would constantly visit you from time to time. In that time, you grew very cole to the men, especially Ken. But they told you they were soldiers. Mere men from the army of the king.
"Since yesterday, there has been a new reform which I have introduced as the new king," he says coldly as he makes his way to the two of you. "A rule that says that all beings, whether with supernatural powers or not, can only be convicted of a crime."
New King? Does that mean... Ken is actually Nanami Kento? Crown Prince of this kingdom? The honored prince?
He stops right before you and your tormentor. "So I ask you again. What do you think you're doing?!"
You didn't even realize that Yuiji was there until he put a cloak around your shoulders. "Y/N! Are you okay? What a question, of course not!"
"Yuiji, you came..."
Hatura takes a reasonable few steps away from all of you now. He felt his king's bloodlust increasing with each passing second.
"I didn't kn-"
He didn't even get to finish his sentence before Nanami punched him into the wall behind him. Hatura was so shocked that he was almost paralyzed on the spot out of fear. His nose already bleeding from the force of Kento's punch.
His survival instincts kicked in as he tried to scramble away. But he didn't come far as nanami pulled him back by his hair, and his face leaned dangerously closer to Hatura's.
"Tell me... what. Were. You. THINKING?!" Kento's voice growls murderously as he tightens his grip on Hatura's hair. But he didn't even let him speak as he punched him jet again into his abdomen.
His grip on his hair loosens, and Hatura slips on the ground, hoping that if he just stays put, the newly crowned king will spare him.
As you looked at the body on the floor, you could see the blood from his mouth and nose. Hatura then spits a tooth out and shockingly looks at it. "Please- Stop."
That's when Kento grabbed him by the throat and lifted him high in front of him into the air. "Did you stop when you were torturing her? After you folks drugged her so she would become defenseless?! HUH?! Did you?!"
"So... sorry..." Nanami had had enough. He let go of him, and as he fell to the ground, he slammed back into his face with a clenched fist. You could hear something break when your tormentor was beaten unconscious. Kento pulled away from him and then joined you at your side.
You were weakly leaning against Yuji's frame. Eyes bearly open from all your exhaustion. Kento then crouched in front of you, sitting to inspect your wounds. Blood splattered across his knuckles. "Ken..." you weakly muttered.
It captured his attention, to which he shifted at you. He said nothing, but you could tell he wasn't happy.
Nanami observed your frail, beaten-up body. Which did not satisfy him one bit.
"Ken, I―"
"Don't worry, my dear. I'm here now."

At long last, I have a new book to share! Feels like forever since the last one. This is Vita Nova, a fantastic Good Omens fic by @philoomenaa that I asked to bind way back in October. It took me a while to get here and I learned several new techniques for this bind but it was so very worth the wait. It's an excellent pre-season 2 story from 2019-2020, involving the fandom's favorites dealing with an unexpected bout of both humanity and memory loss. It's just...really really good and I love it.
More photos and process talk under the cut! There are a lot of details to see with this one.
One of the things I learned for this bind was homemade book cloth. I used the heat n bond method and had pretty good results with this satiny bronze cloth that I found in the Joann's remnant bin. The making of the cloth was fairly straightforward but it handles very differently to regular book cloth. The satin is really slippery and absolutely would not hold a crease at the hinge. I think it also shrank a little at the gluing stage? Which sounds weird but I left my usual amount of space for the corner turn-ins but still had teeny tiny gaps on three of the corners, which has never happened to me before. I also had an issue with glue seepage when I applied HTV to the cover and spine. You can see this in the images above, and here in the spine photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part of the reason it has that fancy art nouveau frame on the cover is an attempt to hide this. I think it's the heat press re-activating the heat n bond to cause it. I found out two things here: that fabric requires less press time than book cloth or cardstock, and that if you move the heat press slowly but constantly like an iron it is way less likely to do this. I was super disappointed that it happened but now, a few days later, it doesn't seems so bad. I guess some items just come with a little personal history already baked in.
Here, have some more glamour shots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The geometric endpapers were chosen specifically to go with this cloth. I found them at the same craft store and knew I had use them together, they look so incredible. And I learned edge gilding for this project! It was very annoying. The final result here is with heat transfer foil, and I did about six tests on scrap text blocks before I got a result I was at all satisfied with. I tried rub n buff (great coverage, not shiny enough, kept coming off on my fingers even after curing for 2 days) and an actual gilding kit (flaked off as soon as I separated the pages). The heat foil still has some patchy spots but was by far the best-looking result. I also learned double-core end bands for this project! Because I wanted some kind of match for those opulent endpapers and didn't want to settle for just two colors. I think they came out pretty well for a first try and I'll definitely be doing them again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Couple of photos of the ribbon I chose for the bookmark. It's probably a little too wide for a book this length; you can see in the end band photo that I had to fold it in half to get it to lay in the spine properly. But it looks so good with the other design elements that I couldn't resist. Luxury all the way on this one.
Speaking of luxury, have a look at the interior:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From left to right, we have the title page, the ornament I chose for the chapter numbers, and the scene break divider. All the images came from rawpixel with just the lightest amount of editing from me. The chapter image is the same as the star on the title page, but I made it gray and took out the center to turn it into a frame for the numbers. The cloth and endpapers really set the tone for this one all the way through, and all the other design choices followed from there. It's really gorgeous, guys. I love it so much.
And that's it! That was the last work in progress I had from 2023, and I'm so pleased to have finally finished it. Hope you like it, AMidnightDreary!

After your strange encounter you're determined to find out more about the creature you had freed that faithful day. And after making new aquaintances your island is also hit with another tragedy that serves as the soil for looming shadows of the past
WARNINGS: GRAPHIC DESRCIBTION OF BLOOD, GORE AND DEAD BODIES, VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR AND INSULTS (in the last third), no use of Y/N, no describtion of outer appearance in any way
We start of with some sweet fluff before getting into the murder mystery part of this story. As always not beta read and I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes and typos. I hope you enjoy it any way.
You had remained out there for far to long. Out on the open ocean staring into the waves in hopes that he would return at any given moment for hours. Without success.
It took you a while to process everything. If you were honest, it still felt like something that had happened in a dream instead of real life.
Truth to be told, even now you somewhat believed you had hit your head or eaten something gone bad, mind now hazy due to toxins and sanity washed away by it.
This creature – Wrecker- had fully warped your reality in a way you never had imagined. And while still being rather vary of the whole situation and also somewhat suspicious you found yourself yearning with the desire to meet him again.
Maybe it was the little, heavy imaginative child that still remained deep in your chest. Causing those wishes, always dreaming of encountering a cryptical creature, befriending and going on adventures with it like the heroes in your favourite stories. You had grown up since then, learning that most of those stories were just, well, stories. Your new acquaintance however argued that.
You didn't tell anyone. Not that anybody would have believed you anyway but you doubted that Shep needed you running around the island telling stories about your supernatural encounter while people still remained missing. If you were honest, you didn't believed that they would return. It had been nearly a week by now. Everything that would be found now was probably not alive any more. Not that you dared to out right say that. Heavens above, not in a million years.
Instead you did your best to support your community. Staying off the ocean for a while, helping with more pressing matters on land. Cleaning up the streets. Helping getting rid of the wreckage scattered all across the lower city. Saving everything left to be saved. However, ever so often you found your gaze wandering. Always finding it's way back to the shimmering ocean surrounding you.
Now you knew about something out there, that many didn't. Your mind constantly pondering if he was out there, head just barely above the surface gazing towards the island.
A slight wave of embarrassment hit you every time you realised you had stopped what you were supposed to be doing while staring into the distance instead. There were more urgent matters that required your full attention right know. Shaking the thoughts of your head you tried to focus on the more importing things, pushing Wrecker back into the back corners of your mind. At least for now.
Another two weeks passed by in a blur and your life finally got back to a bit more of normality. Seizing the opportunity one faithful morning you sat foot onto your boat again. It felt like the first time in ages.
It was in the early hours of dawn as you reached your designation. Turning your engine off you
let the waves softly rock your boat while your eyes searched the ocean for a glimpse of him. Sun just about to wake up and rise from the ocean. You feared that during the days that had passed every chance of seeing him again had been snuffed out. It was a bit disheartening but since the feeling of being watched never had fully went away you were somewhat hopeful that not everything was over just yet.
So you waited. Pouring yourself a mug of caf you listened to the sound of the waves crashing gently against the body of your boat, ears catching the faint sounds of screaming seagulls echoing from the coast. Paired with the soft warm light dawn it was a truly peaceful atmosphere. Warming your fingers on your mug and gently blowing away the steam you took a light, testing sip. A mixture of the hot bitter caf and the admittedly large amount of sugar and cocoa you had poured into it hit your tongue in the most delicious way. You had adapted the way of drinking this beverage from your mother. Savouring the taste of caf and hot cocoa alike, it was a dream come true and a good way to start your mornings.
After aimlessly roaming the ocean's surface for a while your gaze eventually sat on the rising sun.
Enjoying the feeling of the first warm sun rays of the day your body shivered slightly. You had a good feeling about how this day would go. Fishing your generously filled lunch box out of your
waterproofed backpack you plopped a few pieces of fruits into your mouth, following up with one of the chocolate glazed oatmeal cookies. A few crumbs landed on your lap as you took a bite from the cookie, swiftly brushing it of your pants as sudden “clank” hit your ears. Your movement froze slightly, head faintly moving into the direction from which the sound had originated from.
Cautiously chewing down your cookie you turned around, eyes quickly falling onto front left gunwale. His scared, bald head barley glanced over the edge, one pitch black and one milky white eye focusing on you, glistening with curiosity.
Swallowing down the food which was left in your throat as well as a building lump of nervousness you softly nodded at him.
“Good morning”
You voice was soft, almost too quiet to make it over the sounds of the rushing ocean. But he seemed to have heard you, head slightly tilting and continuing to watch you closely. After another moment had passed, he mirrored your gesture, slowly repeating it. The shyest of smiles ghosted over you face. So your intuition hadn’t betrayed you.
The both of you continued to watch each other. He was definitely intrigued by you, disappearing for short fractions of time due to the rhythm of the waves. You felt like you should do something, say something but couldn’t think of one possible thing to let out of your mouth.
It was clear that he could understand you, hell he could talk but in opposite to you, his desire to voice any words seemed very slim. You tried to come up with something to do next, to get connection further than just starring at each other going. Dying for getting a closer look at him you felt your legs bounce while trying to figure something out. The movement of your legs caused your lunch box to move, nearly falling out of your lap. Hands catching it last minute, causing you to let out a sharp sound of surprise as your eyes fell on the lunch box.
Soft splashing could be heard, causing your gaze to shoot up back to Wrecker. His head peaked a bit farther over your gunwale, eyes glued onto what you were doing. Glancing between your food and him an idea bloomed in your head. Slowly not to startle him, you took out an oatmeal cookie.
“Want one?”
His head tilted a bit further, sharply eyeing the thing that you held in your hand. You doubted he
knew what a cookie was and internally face palmed yourself. He lived in the ocean. Obviously, there were no pastries down there.
You took a bite from the treat in your hands, before pointing it towards him yet again, hoping to get your point across. You noticed how his brows slightly peaked up, black eye lancing between you and the cookie you held out.
A few seconds past and you felt your heart pumping in your ears as you waited in with bated breath.
Very hesitantly he began to move. Head sinking and disappearing out of your sight, but you could
hear the sound of moving water and caught a quick glimpse of his dorsal fin. Now having a clear sight of it you didn't fail to notice that big parts of it where missing. Scars that matched the brutality of the ones on his head spread over it as well.
You stretched you neck in hopes of not losing sight of him, but you eventually failed, fin vanishing as well. There was a short pause, and you nearly didn’t dare to move, only your eyes roamed over the spot where he had previously been. Then he appeared directly beside you. Eyes peaking up from under the ships edge. It felt surreal to have him so near all of the sudden. Halting your breath your eyes examined every inch of his face, trying to burn his image into your brain for all times to come.
It was strange. He looked human, almost. If not for his eyes he could have one fooled. That and the strange aura radiating from him. Revealing that he was something greater than just human. It was impressive how perfectly still he remained in the water.
Remembering what had been your plan in the first place you blinked, hand holding the cookie moving towards him. Maybe the movement had been a bit to quick since he flinched, notably retracting into the waves. Limbs freezing for a second you continued your motion much more slowly, carefully placing the food on the boats edge. His body moved back up. Closely eyeing you and the offering. He was hesitant to take it. Movement tense and cautious.
Taking it he brought the pastry up to his nose, taking a few light sniffs. Meanwhile you stretched your neck slightly, eyes tracing the scars spread across his face and following them down his neck. Immediately stopping as his intense gaze was back on your face. You reached for another cookie out of your lunch box, offering a small encouraging smile before taking a bit of it. He studied you cosily as you chewed your bite, swallowing it down before taking the smallest bite from his.
Eyes growing wide in surprise as the sweet flavour bloomed on his tongue. With no further time wasted he greedily devoured the cookie. Watching his positive reaction earned you a victorious feeling. Yet again meeting his eyes it was hard to miss the plea for more in them. So you offered him another. And another. An another. Sharing almost all the food contained in your lunch box with him. Going over to he fruits after all the cookies were devoured. Pineapple seemed to be especially tasty for him.
You eventually had stopped laying the food on the gunwale and instead offered him the lunch box directly. All prior shyness and hesitance had left him by now. Your plan to coax him in with food had worked very well. Joy filled your veins as your inner child squealed internally, hardly containing it's excitement. Deeply hoping he couldn't hear the sound of your heart hammering against your ribcage.
“I cut you free that night, didn't I?”, you asked. It was much more an observation of connecting the dots but it couldn't hurt to ask for conformation. Swallowing down the last piece of pineapple he nodded.
“Which I'm thankful for”, he rasped. His voice sounded strange but not unpleasant in your ears. However, it also felt like it was resonating deep in your bones vibrating through every fibre of your body. It was unlike anything you had ever heard and you felt yourself strangely yearning for more. The thought of him being a siren crossed your brain. Though it was a stark contrast to what you had been told a siren was supposed to be while growing up.
“It's not worth mentioning”, you said. Suddenly it was rather hard for you to focus on which words to say. “You...You kept watching me?”
He nodded. A faint sheepish smile tugging on his lips.
“Why?”
The question fell from your lips as a whisper. Voice shortly to weak to be any louder. You were utterly mesmerized by him.
“I wanted to see who cut me loose”, he answered and you noticed how his expression changed. While the curious glint in his eyes remained something else you couldn't quite read tinted his face. You weren't aware of just how far you had leaned over to examine him closer until he abruptly rose up a bit. Starling you, causing your body to swiftly back up a bit. Blood rushing into your cheeks because of how close he suddenly was. The unforeseen action making you flustered for an unknown reason.
“A quite lovely saviour”, he purred making your heart stop. You had expected a lot of things but nothing could have had you prepared for those words. Abruptly choking on your own spit you coughed. Ears and cheeks now burning hot. If he hadn't noticed your flustered face before he did certainly now. If it looked as hot as it felt you were as red as a tomato by now.
He was about to eat you, wasn't he? Luring you in, making you come closer before pulling you over the gunwale to eat you alive while pulling you towards the oceans floor. Soft gaze trying to fool you.
You cleared your throat, felling embarrassment bubbling up your neck as you saw a cheeky grin flash over his face, teeth slightly flared. They looked quite imitating. Distorting the image of him smiling, remembering you that he was in fact not a random dude hanging on the side of your ship but a massive unknown creature which only should exist in tales of old drunk fishermen.
He clearly was amused by your behaviour. Very much aware that you were in awe because of him.
“You came back. For me”, he stated and there was no use denying it.
“Well yes. Like you, I wanted to see what – or better whom- I had freed that day. Especially after your little shell shenanigans”, you told him. A small smile appearing on your own lips as you recalled your first interactions. “Quite the sight I admit”
You seemed to have said the right words. Stroking his ego with flattery he also displayed delight. It was obvious by the way he couldn't hold your gaze, small smile growing into a wide grin. A low chuckle escaped from his throat. A sound quite lovely to your ear.
Quickly pushing himself up even more, causing your boat to stagger a bit more he suddenly didn't seem to have any more problems coming close to you. Personalty doing a complete 18o as he was all up in your face. Beaming at you joyfully and excited.
“That was fun, wasn't it? You surface dwellers like shells, don't you? I thought it was a good way to show my gratitude. Did you like them”, he said. Voice now loud and booming.
It took you a moment to get used to his sudden change of demeanour but you welcomed it. It felt like the ice was broken and the fear of him vanishing out of the blue disappeared. It was an actual kind gesture and you felt honoured by his consideration. The shells had been breathtaking, there was only one little problem.
“They were stunning, sadly I fear they're back on the ocean floor. Given that I pushed them over board during our little game”, you stated rubbing the back of your neck. He mirrored the gesture as he realised you were right, since he hadn't returned them in the last round. Unbeknownst to you his mind raced where he had put them instead.
“Well, I can get you more. As much as you like”, he offered rather ecstatic. His eagerness was something you hadn't expected and it made your hear flutter with joy. This whole situation made you scream internally. Were you just befriending a merman? Doing exactly what you had dreamed of as a little kid.
“I- that would be very generous of you Wrecker”, you tried to sort your words and not just spill them out in a wild mush. “I can bring you more snacks in exchange if you want to.”
It was a bold attempt to seal a deal and given how his eyes lit up you were successful
.
“Really? you would do that?”, he asked, voice ecstatic and booming over your offering and outlook
on more delicious treats. Your nods matched his energy.
“Could you also bring more if the yellow stuff? What is it called?”
You chuckled softly. “Pineapple”
“Pineapple”, he repeated. Words slowly falling out of his mouth. Testing the sound of it and trying
his best to replicate how you had pronounced it. “I’ll try to remember that.”
“You don’t have that much fruit down there, do you?”
He looked at you with a puzzled look, readjusting the position of his arms into a more comfortable
one, rocking the boat softly while doing so. “What’s fruit?”
Oh how relentless of you. Living in the depths of the ocean and just yet had discovered the existence of pineapple you could have known that he probably wasn’t aware what fruits were.
You sheepishly rubbed you’re the back of your neck, softly ruffling your hair. Brain trying to come up with an explanation that would make sense for someone who lived in the ocean and never had seen fruit before.
“It’s like...I don’t know how to explain this, ehrm...well some plants produce them. They’re many
different types, with many different flavours but most of them are usually very sweet”, you tried
your best to pick words that would make sense and given how his eyes lit up as you mentioned their usual sweetness you had done a good enough job.
“No, we don’t have that down here. Just fish, shellfish, jellyfish. Lots of crabs and anemones and
kelp. But nothing that tastes even close to this”, he said, rambling on but your brain stopped for a
moment. We? As in multiple individuals. There were more? The urge to immediately ask him about it was strong, nearly spilling out your mouth without a second thought. You managed to contain
yourself however, fearing that this simple question might could push your luck a bit too much. Not
willing to shatter the freshly formed bound you shared you bit your tongue. A question for a
hopefully other day. Focusing back on his words, you hoped he hadn’t noticed your short moment of inattentiveness.
“...-sometimes though I get my hands on those brown balls. They're sturdy and fuzzy but they taste
good when you crack ‘em open.”
You blinked at him, mind catching up with what he just had described to you.
“Coconuts”, you spurted out a bit inelegant, instantly rectifying yourself a bit, smoothing out your
words, “I think you described coconuts. If they are brown, they are already a bit old. They grow on
Pabu. If you want, I'll get you some fresh ones”
“Yes! Oh, you’re to gracious. I’ll get you enough shells to sink your boat" he exclaimed. Water
splashing as his fin wagged excited. Boat heavily shaking, you thought you would capsize any
moment, but it was also pretty funny. A laugh escaped your throat and a tingle echoed through your stomach. This massive hunk was adorable.
“That’s sweet of you, but I rather liked it if you wouldn’t sink my boat”, you said, squeaking as the
cold water hit your face. Wrecker stopped what he was doing, seemingly just realising what he was
causing as a small, slightly flustered ‘Oh’ escaped his lips. Letting himself slide back into the ocean a bit more he steadied your boat with ease. You were impressed. Sure, your boat wasn’t the biggest, but it weighed a ton for sure, maybe even more since the original engine was replaced by one of another type at some point. And while it had you in awe, a small part of your brain also concluded that he would have no issue in flipping ships over as easily as paper boats. It soured your mood a bit, thoughts unwillingly wandering to all those previously sunken fisher boats. And while you didn’t want to assume the worst nor speculate over things you definitely had no knowledge about you couldn't stop yourself from asking if he was involved in the sinking of those ships.
“Sorry, ‘got a little excited there”, he murmured, eyes avoiding, “You surface dwellers don’t really
like water, do you”
“I don’t mind a little swim from time to time”, he retorted. Cheeky grin playing on your lips to ease
the mood. A statement that earned you a boisterous laugh from him. Voice booming and all displays of his prior embarrassment vaporized into thin air. A reaction that left you a bit confused.
“That’s rich”, he called out in between laughs, “Your surface dwellers don’t swim. You splash around at best”
To emphasis his words he pushed himself away from your boat. Massive tail moving as he glided
through the water with at most ease and graciousness. Circling your boat and giving you a crystal clear sight of his magnificent body and incredible strength. You were in awe and failed to hide it
quick enough as your eyes fell onto the big smug grin plastered onto his face. Sharp teeth flashing
and all. Flicking his fin as he dove into the waves, splashing water into your direction. Drenching you on purpose this time. You squeaked. Hands trying to shield your face, clothes yet again soaked.
Oh so he was back again with his jokester attitude. And while he was probably right if one was to
compare the average human to him, a marine creature, you felt oddly hurt in your ‘surface dweller’ pride. Wringing the water out of a small strand of hair that had snug itself onto your forehead you eyed him with a displeased expression. Not that he seemed to care much. Face still beaming at you, well aware that you weren’t actually angered by his actions. He was correct of course, but you wouldn’t admit that out loud just yet.
“I would like to see you running a marathon. Or even better: climb a tree”, you retorted but your
words had little power over him. He continued to grin at you with a boyish smile, eyes holding a
familiar glint. This was the face of someone who was about to obliterate you with further teasing.
“You sound like a bickering seagull”, he said throwing you completely off guard, “look like one as
well right now.”
Temporarily at a loss of words over so much cheekiness your mouth opened and closed, mirroring a fish out of water. Your brain desperately trying to figure out an equally snarky comeback but before any words could make it past your lips your radio went off. Sheps voiced trickled out of it.
Calling you by your name, requesting that you responded.
Wrecker a short glance, you made your way over to the small radio, responding. Gaze fixed back on
Wrecker as you watched him making his over to where you were now sitting, curious about what
you were doing.
>>I need you to come back immediately, there is a situation<<
His voice while slightly distorted was strained with distress and you didn’t like the sound of it one bit. Something was very wrong, otherwise he wouldn’t have called you. A bad feeling made your
stomach drop.
“I’m on my way”, you said, ending the radio message. Instantly getting up to start your engine. Not
wanting to waste any more time. Whatever laid ahead of you wasn’t good. Shep rarely called in on
you. But whenever he did you knew it was urgent.
“Do you have to go? Now?”, Wreckers voiced echoed from the site of your boat as you sat down on
your console, and you couldn’t help to catch how disappointed he sounded. A little pang of guilt hit your heart as you looked at him. He in fact looked as saddened as he had sounded.
“Sorry, but yes: I must leave now”
He frowned at your answer. Clearly displeased by it. If you were honest you would also had liked it much better to stay with him for a little while longer. Especially since things were going so well right know. But you were needed elsewhere and judging by the dooming feeling pulsing in the bag of your head you really shouldn't let any more time pass by.
You offered your new acquaintance an apologetic look and a soft smile.
“See you tomorrow? Same place same time with some pineapple?”
His face lid up, softly nodding. You bet your goodbyes. Eyes lingering on him as he disappeared into the waves before set course to Pabu.
You already saw the crowd of people standing on the docks from afar. Bad feeling in your gut worsening. Slowing your ship down as you entered the harbours basin. A few familiar faces helped
you docking your boat, offering a hand to swiftly pull you up the dock. Stepping aside to clear a pass for you, you quickly came face to face with what had caused this commotion. Eyes opening wide your breath hitched in your throat as your stared upon the view of two bodies lying on the ground before you.
While covered up, the sheets did very little to cover up the gruesome sight under them.
Chests cracked opened in an unnatural way, limbs ripped off and flesh torn apart. And although the
sheets were wrapped over the heads securely you knew that the faces beneath didn’t exist any more given how weirdly the fabric stretched itself over them.
Tearing your eyes away from that brutal sight you searched for Shep. You spotted him next to the
bodies. Face worn down by grief, concern and guilt. Noticing your glare on him, his eyes shot up,
interlocking with your own. A silent order to come to him. You obeyed without hesitation, swiftly
making your way over to him.
“What happened?” you asked. Worried words breathed out in low whisper.
“Marlo found them earlier today”
You flinched slightly. Head snapping to the side over the sudden sound of another familiar voice.
Phee.
She looked just as miserable as Shep and you wondered when she had returned to Pabu. Biting
down the questions about her whereabouts and arrival you focused back on what really mattered
right now.
“Where?”
Phee eyes shot up to meet yours. It was a glance you never had seen on her ever before. Her usual
foxy but joyful orbs were drained from any of it. Leaving behind nothing but stone-cold seriousness
behind.
“On the north side of the isle. Floating wrapped to wreckage just a few miles ahead of the shore”
Your mind wandered to the place. Not liking how close it was to the black waters. Even more so that it was just the direction you had scouted the days after the storm and then again just this morning.
How could’ve not detected them? Sure, there was the possibility that they had been dragged to
those rocks due to the tide pulling them there. It was actually highly likely. Still, a quickly louder getting part of your mind yelled that this was your fault. That you had been too inattentive to safe them all those days prior. Maybe even still alive.
You felt a soft touch on your shoulder. Blinking heavily, you stared directly into Sheps face. He examined you with a worried expression and you knew by the way his hand rubbed your shoulder that he was aware of what you just had thought. You gulped, avoiding his gaze trying to cover up your moment of weakness by focusing on the bodies on the ground.
“They lived in a small hut on the south cap of Pabu. For them to resurface by the black waters the tide must have dragged them there”, he stated, and you knew that he really meant to say, that this wasn’t his fault. He was just as good at detecting your inner turmoil than you were at detecting his. It didn’t help much against the guilt you experienced though.
“Pah! The tide didn’t drag ‘em out”, a voice yelled from somewhere, causing a lot of heads to turn around, including those of the three of you. Out of the crowed appeared Comar Seigh. His grim face twisted into a dark scowl. Teeth bared as he pushed himself passed the other islanders. “They did!”
Your brows furrowed and a quick side glance revealed that Phee and Shep were equally defensive with his sudden emerge. It was no secret that whenever Seigh showed his face in public trouble wasn’t too far off. He had been Shep fathers right hand man back in the days. Once a well respected and equally feared men. Because even is he called a quite lucky hand for business his own he was also an notorious choleric. He never had backed down from a fight and he fought them quite nasty.
You remembered an incident involving your father quite vividly. While you never got told the exact reason of why the fight broke out you recalled the bloody face of your father clear. Never again had you seen how nasty glass could get. Shards stuck in his skin, slicing up the left side of his face after Seigh had smashed a bottle against your fathers head. It had nearly cost him the sight of his left eye and after that your father forbid you and your siblings to get anywhere near this man. Not that you had ever indented to do so either way. Ever since that day you held an iron grudge against him. Something that hadn't faded one bit.
The dislike was mutual but then again you doubted that anyone on Pabu actually liked him. He was the ugly shadow of an ugly past. Wittering his days away with letting his anger out by torturing innocent fish or drowning it in liquor.
“Shut your mouth Seigh, before I do it. This is hardly the time for any nor place for your delusions”, Phee hissed at him. The look in her eyes made you believe she would jump onto his throat any second. Seigh eyed her in an up most derogatory way and you were ready to bash his nose in if any insult would escape his lips. It wouldn't be the first time Phee and him got in an argument. Not that the liberator of ancient wonders couldn't handle herself – heavens above she got her mothers skills when it came to handing a sabre – but you wouldn't let Seigh get away with insulting her. Not to mention the kind of insults he used.
“Oh look who's back. The sea rats daughter. Of course it would have been to much to hope for you drowning out there”, he spat at her. The muscles in your arms flexed, hands curling into fists you took a step forward but Shep stopped you before you could do anything else.
Your friend was gentle, reasonable man. A man of peace, always searching for a diplomatic solution first. Seigh hated his guts for that. He made no secret out of either. In his eyes Shep was a soft, not worthy stepping into his fathers footsteps. Up to this day he missed to admit the catastrophic consequences the prior major had caused. Actions that he had been an avid supporter of. Not to mention the delusions they both had given into. You were to young to understand much of what had happened back then. Not to mention that you parents had made an active effort to keep their absurd fantasies as far away from your family as they could. Of course you still had caught some eventually. It was impossible to not hear them at one point or another.
“Seigh, this is a tragic day for our island. We have just lost two beloved members of our community, don't you dare to use their deaths for feeding your stories”, Shep warned him. Voice unusual low and unyielding.
Seigh huffed. It was a mocking sound.
“I'm not using anything. There is proof everywhere but you refuse to look at it. The hand in the Inn and those poor souls right in front of you. Look at 'em. That's not the work of a shark or any other fish roaming the coastline. Flesh ripped open and limbs torn apart. Aye, I remember that sight. There was a time when this had happen before. A time where we had fought against them, nearly succeeding but you where to soft to finish what your father had started. Spitting on his legacy” Seigh spat out, spitting on the ground before Shep. Rage boiled in your veins and if Sheps hand hadn't still been on your shoulder, tightening to keep you in check you would have kicked out Seighs teeth right then and there.
A heavy whisper washed through the crowd. Tension thick enough to cut it. You side glanced at Shep. The rare sight of anger flared in his kind eyes, shoulders heaving and for a moment you thought he would loose his cool. But then he closed his eyes, letting out a deep breath and obtaining his usual calm, level-headed nature.
“Every death, no matter if back then or the recent ones, are tragic ones. It leaves behind great pain but we have to keep ourselves focused. Honouring them in caring on their memories in our hearts, keeping what's left of them alive instead of fuelling delusions and subduing to rage”
Sheps words made the docks go dead silent. Everone intsenly watching about what would happened next as Seigh and Shep glared each other down in a merciless manner. In the end it was a victory for your friend. Seigh backed down. Breaking his dark glare off.
“You will see what your incompetence will get you when the ships start to sink and the bodies pile up on the shores again Shep”, he taunted, gravest voice you had ever heard. He turned around without another glance, disappearing into the crowd.
You stared daggers after him. The rage in your blood only slowly leaving your system. Shep sighed heavy and tiredly. Giving you a pet he finally let go of your shoulders. You wanted to say something, anything. He needed comfort but failed to provide any. Thankfully Phee jumped in. offering her support instead and giving you a reassuring nod that she would handle this.
Eventually the crowd scattered and the bodies where taken away to get them prepared for a proper funeral. You remained by the docks. Eyes staring out to the horizon mind racing.
While you heavily disliked Seigh you couldn't help to ponder over his words. The stories that you had paid little mind to for so long certainly seemed much more likeable after your little mystical encounter. You didn't outright believe that Wrecker was responsible for this nor outright involved but then again you knew nothing about him. He was a stranger after all and just because he was nice to you so far didn't meant anything really on a broader scale.
A thought crossed your mind. Seigh had mentioned the hand. You hated it but you also felt like this could might reveal something useful to you, or better it's current owner. Determined to find out more about the past of the isle and Wreckers involvement in it a plan began to form in your mind.

Part 2 of tremors and motor skills control, more specifically the aftermath of the mission
Cahaya felt numb the whole way back to the station.
He can still feel Fang softly dragging him and whispering something to him.. probably asking him if hes ok, he doesn't even bother try telling him he didn't hear a single thing he said. Though he has the slightest feeling that Fang already knows that and is only talking to both comfort him and to fill in the void between them; he has been zoned out for the past few hours now
He can feel petir's and tanah's eyes watching him. Daun and the others are trying to treat air as best they could
Daun looked drained tho, but the last time he saw him Daun was screaming that he needed to be there to heal air.
That was 4 hours ago.
He.. he doesn't know how to feel, mind too busy with the events that transpired
He can't help but think back to the mission.
That cursed mission.
That stupid planet. The people of said planet. They call themselves "The Enlightened" (he notes to himself to research about them)
They were.. friendly. So friendly it was borderline creepy even, the sudden mood shift was shocking to the point it caused everyone (kokotiam) to be on edge
They were apparently excited to meet them (normally you don't try to assassinate people you're excited to meet); they constantly praised them, smiled, and gave them gifts.. some tried to outright touched him
He didn't know how it happened.. but he somehow got seperated from the others and was pulled by their leader (genuinely he didn't know, he was flanked by both Fang and Petir)
The leader honest to God creeped him out the most, he looks at him with this... glint in his eyes that he just doesn't understand, he could lie to himself and say it was.. uh.. fondness? Or excitement.. or maybe relief?
But the way he looked at him like as if he knows him, despite them never interacting once in Cahaya's very short 15 years of life
One thing Cahaya does know is that the supposed leader of 'the Enlightened' was studying him, looking at him like he was prey that was riped for use. But at the same time.. he looks at him like he was salvation, a symbol of hope.. like he was some.. some Go-
"Its fantastic to know that The Light had chosen a successor," the leader's words cuts his thought process
"Uh.. what?" Cahaya asked dumbly. Now cahaya always prided himself for his intelligence of words in situations, but even he could admit that was just stupid
It seemed to amused the leader though if his light chuckle was anything to go by. Score
"We were told that he had fallen, but I knew we couldn't trust those words, mere rumors they are to discourage us" the leader frowned. But just as it appeared, it disappears; replaced with a smile
"Its good to know he chose a strong and smart one too, smarts that could rival his own." The leader placed his hand on cahaya's head, patting it like he was some dog. It unnerved him
"We have waited for any sort of signs of his return, but it seemed he has bestowed it upon you to continue his legacy." The leader's hands now are touching his shoulder. It burns
"Know that we are on your side and will fight valiantly for you," he said with an odd tone. To be honest Cahaya is kinda zoning out, the previous events finally catching up to him
Its kinda.. overwhelmi-
"Though it seems you won't be needing us with how powerful your blast no matter tragic that may be. Your control was simply.. divine." The way he said it made Cahaya shiver and uncomfortable, especially as the Leader is kinda gripping his shoulders now. It hurts
"I will say that those... others.. will be slowing you down, but it seems you know what your doing with how they were protecting you, puppets i presume" (he feels something inside of him getting angry at hearing those words)
"The Light must be very proud of you," the Leader smiled at him (hes scared, why is he looking at him like that) holding his hands softly now, very gently. Its burning him. It hurts. Stop touching him.
Just stop it.
STOP
"Who are you talking about..?" He managed to get out between the haze, it only makes the leader squeeze his hands
"Why the eternal Ret-"
"GET YOUR HANDS OF HIM"
The leader let go of cahaya's hands as Fang shoved him and stood infront of him, protecting and even covering him from the leader's view. Didn't really work since there wasn't a massive height difference but appreciated nonetheless
His chest loosened and the hazy feeling dispersed a little bit, only to feel warmth as he felt his hand being held by Fang and his other being held by Petir (he didn't realize his hands started shaking)
It seems Petir misunderstood his shaking hands for something else as sparks started to surround him.
Hes glaring at the leader
"It seems you even have a shadow wrapped between your fingers, how wonderful," the leader exclaimed delighfully seeing the two hold hands, he was not able to see Petir holding his other due to it being covered by Fang.
He heard Fang and Petir saying something.. maybe they're yelling, he can't really tell right now
He let go of Fang to side hug Petir, partially due to being overwhelmed but also due to the sudden feeling of needing to feel safe. 'Abang will protect me' his head comforts him
Petir gently shifts his hands to a comfortable position and in a way hes able to fight if need be. Hes now hugging petir's arm
He can still hear yelling its lowder and crowder (is there more people?). He doesn't hear a thing though as his mind slowly drifts off, too tired of the events of today
But there was one thing he heard loud and clear.
"We will be waiting for you successor."
He doesn't know what it means
It scares him
.
.
.
This is a gonna be a lot longer than i intended it to be but uhhhh next part would be the confrontation/questioning between Cahaya and the other over what the heck happened.
Because everyone (except angin and api) knows Cahaya shot Air
Ok then, seems like this cult is a lil messed up, and creepy cuz like damn, leave my boy alone
Also Petir and Fang just protecting him is cute
Hope though theyd understand/know Cahaya didnt mean that shot
But that still raises questions to what that cult was on about

So because today is a gaming episode let's jump into yesterday's lore episode >:)
Sun's dream reflects his desires that he doesn't aknowledge that much due to him almost constantly ignoring his own needs and wants. Sun screams in his sleep even though his dream doesn't seem like something that could cause such reaction. But if we look at Sun's dream as his mind reminding him of things that he constantly ignores it makes sense for Sun to scream.
Because my head is filled with cotton for a week it's hard for me to focus on things so that's why I'm processing episodes in slow motion..
Anyway, I only now realized that characters that appeared in Sun's dream aren't there by coincidence. Even those weirder ones.
We had all of Sun and Moon enemies there - Eclipse, Bloodmoon, Ruin and Creator. It's obvious to why they were apologizing. Because all of them caused our boys some harm in one way or another.
Then we had Catnap, KC, Amanda and Banban. KC apologizing wasn't a surprise except from it being hilarious but still.. Catnap wasn't that weird either cause he showed up a couple of times. The most weird ones there were Amanda and Banban.
They have one thing in common though - they're all related to Sun's trauma. How, you may ask? Eclipse, Bloodmoon, Ruin and Creator are the most obvious ones. They all caused Sun's trauma. Creator by putting Sun and Moon in one body and giving Moon a kill code among other shitty things he did because he sees Sun and Moon as failures. Eclipse by threatening them and putting them in dangerous situations that could ended with them being dead and adding onto the abuse Old Moon inflicted on Sun. Bloodmoon by causing July 16th and killing innocents and by threatening Sun and mocking him. Ruin by kidnapping Sun and saying all those awful things to him and destroying the Daycare and remaking Bloodmoon and destroying creator's council with whole dimensions.
Catnap probably reminds Sun of how he lost it or maybe he reminds him of Old Moon or maybe he reminds him of all the dead children killed by Old Moon influenced by kill code. KC was an infamous kill code himself so he's one of the main causes of Sun's trauma when he was trying to stop Moon from killing innocents. When he had to fight the feeling of excruciating pain in order to prevent the killings.
Amanda was there probably because Sun still had psychotic episode and New Moon started being more aggressive then so she's a reminder of that. We could how much Sun was scared in that episode. And Banban - he apologized for taking kidneys which is a callback to when Banban showed up for the second time and he found meat hidden in Daycare's floor. Which definitely reminded Sun of July 16th incident which was one of the most traumatising events in Sun's life.
Sun's mind wants him to aknowledge his own trauma. And those apologies reflects that Sun felt deeply hurt by what they did to him. Moon represents Sun's want to forigve them. The fact that they're apologizing to Sun shows us that he believes deep down that they can change. And Sun deep down wants for them all to be family and friends.
His hesitation reflects how he is unsure if this is even possible for any of them or just simply anyone to apologize to him. Sun never ever asked for apology. He never said "it would be great if you apologized to me" or "I'm waiting for my apology". It's caused by trauma from Old Moon's abuse. Old Moon rarely apologized to Sun to the point that when New Moon or anyone else does that he is dumbfounded by this. After Old Moon hit Sun in Beta 10 he never expressed that he's deeply hurt by everything that others did to him. And he probably thinks that he has no right to ask for an apology. Because after all, he could've done more, he could've tried harder to help, to stop bad things from happening. It's all his fault so he can't ask for any apology.
Sun's mind tries to remind him that he's traumatised. How we know that Sun didn't aknowledge his trauma? He told Moon in yesterday's episode "I really doubt my psychological trauma would have done that weird dream". Are you kidding me, Sun? Of course it's your trauma that caused that weird dream! 😭
I'm glad that Moon keeps an eye on Sun cause Sun wouldn't survive on his own. Glad that Moon keeps track on those small details that raise the concern for Sun's well-being. Like for example Sun drinking alcohol daily which he shouldn't do when he suffers from mental disorder (I'll never shut up about it) or Sun drinking caffeine before sleep - depending on the amount of caffeine someone drinks it can worsen psychotic symptoms especially in schizophrenia or mood disorders such as bipolar disorder.
But there's something else that stood out to me in yesterday's episode. Moon said that he feels like he has to remind Sun to dry his pants. Did that happen before? Did Sun jump into the water and had to dry his pants before? How many times did that happen before? Sun forgetting to dry himself or just simply not doing it might mean that he doesn't take good care of himself. Cause maybe Sun forgets to do other things around himself and Moon has to remind him of that.
That's why I'm glad that Moon keeps an eye on Sun. New Moon really cares about Sun and tries his best to take care of Sun despite Sun not opening up about anything. I'm so proud of Moon 🥹
Though I wish that he could try to find a new more professional therapist for Sun cause Sun definitely needs help his family can't provide to him.

Tangentially related to my last post, some thoughts I had about what a society of people who didn't suffer senescence might be like that I posted in a discussion on Sufficientvelocity.com last Saturday (the discussion was centered on speculating about a world where there was a sapient species that was naturally like this or at least naturally much longer-lived than humans, rather than the possibility of a society derived from ours which has developed a cure for human senescence):
I think very long-lived people would tend to be more cautious than us, especially if their super-long lifespans came bundled with superior immune systems. If you've got a society of people who don't experience senescence and are immune to most or all infectious disease, the main causes of involuntary death in that society will be accidents and violence, and lifespans will likely increase more-or-less directly in proportion to how rare you can make accidental and violent death. So, for instance, I'd expect their buildings, cities, vehicles, etc. to have lots of safety features we don't bother with because most of us get killed by senescence long before those safety features would plausibly save our lives.
I expect a very long-lived species would have a much slower reproductive rate than us, either by naturally slower reproduction, deliberate avoidance of forms of sex that make babies (which wouldn't necessarily require completely giving up all sexual pleasure), chemical (or magical?) birth control, surgical sterilization, or some combination of these things. If they aren't naturally slow-breeding, the need to restrain their own reproduction to prevent overpopulation would probably be one of the first lessons they collectively learn after becoming sapient, and being very long-lived means they would have long planning horizons.
I'd expect a society of very long-lived people to be very gerontocratic. People who don't suffer senescence will experience all the upsides of aging but none of the downsides; an individual of such a species will probably be straightforwardly more capable at 70 than they were at 25, and straightforwardly more capable still at 700 than they were at 70 (there's likely to be a diminishing returns curve because of limitations on the information storage capacity of their brains, but still...). Indefinite lifespans will also likely mean all the dynamics of older people having had more time to be promoted into leadership positions, develop social connections, accumulate money, etc. will happen but death will put a stop to those processes and cause personnel turn-over much more slowly than it does in our society. Why replace somebody who's been doing a good job for the past 300 years and shows no signs of not being able to do it for another 300 years? Imagine the kind of political resources and cultural legitimacy a king who's been on the throne for more than a millennium might have.
If this very long-lived sapient species shares a world with regular humans, I'd expect them to advance faster than the conventional humans and basically outcompete the conventional humans pretty thoroughly and ultimately take over the world, especially if they have superior immune systems on top of the very long lifespans. A huge amount of the resources and labor of human society is spent supporting people who've been rendered seriously disabled by senescence and refilling the holes senescence-related deaths are constantly ripping in our social fabric. A society of people who don't experience senescence is going to be almost an entire society of people who have many decades or centuries or even millennia of experience but have the physical vigor and physical robustness of twenty-somethings (they're going to need to be making some children to replace people lost to accidents, violence, and suicides, but they'll probably need to make a lot fewer kids than us, with creating and supporting and educating those children being a proportionately smaller burden on their society). No senescence will mean their brightest minds stay around a lot longer; imagine if Newton and Einstein were still around and bouncing ideas off each other. The one big possibility I see for this species not thoroughly outcompeting us is a society of very long-lived people is likely to be very conservative (they're probably going to be a society more-or-less run by people who've been doing more-or-less the same thing for centuries, and people like that might get formidably set in their ways), which may result in them advancing more slowly than us.
If this very long-lived species can be sexually attractive to us and be sexually attracted to us and make babies with us as e.g. fantasy Elves often can, I could see some humans deciding that it's morally superior to reproduce with one of them instead of with another human, cause hybrids would likely live a lot longer than full-blood humans. Also, people who have centuries of experience but still have and will indefinitely keep the physical vigor, physical robustness, and physical beauty of twenty-somethings would probably be considered highly desirable partners by lots of humans for lots of reasons. I think if a very long-lived species like this shares a world with humans and can make babies with us they are likely to gradually absorb humanity by interbreeding.

Tell me about the fish you saw snorkeling please :)
Oh my GOD I nearly burned my self with my coffee when I saw this. Thank you so much for asking, but also you've opened the flood gates because it just so happens I am about to dump so many fish on you. While I primarily study freshwater fishes, I am a lover off all things aquatic, so here we go (all these images are from the internet):
Parrot fish galore and HUGE ones at that. The biggest one I saw looked like this. I don't know my scarids very well, but I do know that I saw a bumphead parrotfish. So funny looking. I was honestly surprised by how all the fish out there are CONSTANTLY nipping at the corals, but the current was pretty strong so we all had to swim a lot. It makes sense that they always need to be eating. I had no idea life on the reef was so turbulent
Tumblr media
A lot of acunthurids. No blue tangs but plenty of brown ones and some unicorn tang! The ones I saw had really small humps.
Tumblr media
So the common name for acunthirds is surgeonfishes because they have these sharp, blade like spines on their caudal peduncle called a scalpel. You can see it a bit more clearly on the Clown Unicornfishes (which were my fave cause the colors were so bright). Here they're the bright orange processes near the tail.
Tumblr media
Wrasses. SO many wrasses. We saw birdnose wrasses with their long snoots, moon wrasses that were as colorful as rainbow lorikeets. My favorite were the cleaner wrasses following all the big parrotfish around and eating their ectoparasites,
Tumblr media
I saw a moray!! That was the most unexpected find for me. I was the only one in my group to see one, but it was so far out that the crew working the sailboat had to call me back in 😅 It was brown and spotted black and looked just like this guy. I didn't actually see his head, but I saw his long long body. He was huge!!
Tumblr media
Some gobies hiding in their holes. Apparently some species of goby have a mutualistic relationship with shrimp. The shrimp digs a series of tunnels in the sand and the goby stands sentinel at the entrance. The shrimp then maintains contact with the goby with its long antennae so that it knows if the goby moves or startles when predators are nearby.
Tumblr media
The goatfish was probably my second favorite find after the moray because I had no idea they were out there. Goatfish have two long chin barbels covered in tastebuds that they use to probe along the sand in search for prey. They are quite dextrous barbels too. They flick em around so fast!
Tumblr media
I got stung by something! it whipped me across the face pretty much 20 minutes into the water and it felt long and filamentous so i thought maybe it was some stray strand of anemone or jellyfish with active nematocysts. The crew member said it was likely a small jelly so woohoo! I got stung by a jelly on the great barrier reef :D
Triggerfish. Iw as hoping to see more tetraodonotiforms like puffers or filefish or a cowfish maybe, but I'm glad I still got to see at least one representative of the order cause they are among the most bizarre groups of fishes
Tumblr media
This Moorish Idol that looked exactly like Gill from finding nemo
Tumblr media
Lemonpeel angelfish, bluegirdle angelfish, emperor angelfish, you name it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a lot of chaetodontids too. As I said, I don't study marine fishes so all the butterfly fishes looked so similar to me XD most of them were some combination of white, yellow, and black with their characteristically tall bodies and narrow snouts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giant clam!!! THEY WERE SO BIG. And so colorful. The movement of their spiracle truly hypnotized me.
Tumblr media
Alright. That's all I got time for at the moment, as I need to pack and head up to the rainforest for the last leg of my trip. I'm sure I have forgotten dozens of fish already XD Thank you for attending my show and tell and for expressing interesting. Truly, I'm living any biologists dream rn, and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to visit such a beautiful part of the world 🥲

ShiSaku Week: Day 7
Shisui is an idiot.
The biggest idiot I ever met.
Ever since Danzo had raged war against my shishō with root, nothing had been the same. My once peaceful home became a battle field. Children were constantly being left orphaned left and right from families crossfire, and parents would often be loosing their own children as well.
Bodies and kunai were often scattered left and right. Most of us had to stoop low and steal supplies from fallen comrades and enemies. We just had to survive.
My team are stationed I'm the front lines along with the majority of Konoha 11. We used to be 12, but we lost Neji a while back.
Turns out he'd do anything to ensure Hinata's survival.
Anyways, with so many people with kekkei genkai dying, Danzo would have his ninjas prioritize on steeling them. Be it from their their DNA to their eyes. The Uchiha's where especially targeted.
There was one time, Shisui held a dying 12 year old clan member in his arms. You could tell that the kid, was in pain from not just the fatal spinal wound, but from the fact that their eye sockets were empty. Shisui did his best to comfort and get information from the preteen.
'Who did this to you," he asked, gently.
" Danzo. Ambush. My team... dead," the child said.
That would be the last thing they ever said.
Shisui was never the same after that. He's always had a soft spot for kids, alway trying to lead fights away from civilian shelters or districts. When he worked with genius he'd often have them doing something away from the battle, like evacuation.
Now that a family member, who still had so much in life to experience, died in his arms: I could see that he activated his Mangekyō Sharingan.
I tried to reach out to him calm him down before he did something that would endanger not just himself but those who care for him. He ran off before I could do anything.
Now I'm here, running through the trees as fast as I could. I may not be the best sensor, but I am moderately good enough. It helps that I've worked closely with him, that I've grown familiar with his chakra.
It was easy to pinpoint at this point.
But by the time I had reached his location, his left eye had been bleeding, and was shut. Meanwhile, across the battle field was Danzo. Let's just say what lies under his bandages is no longer a secret.
Just as Danzo ran to deliver the finishing blow, likely wanting to get his hands on Shisui's right eye, I shunshined toward him. With my arms wrapping around his shoulders, I once more flicking away as far as I could. Once we were safe, I began the healing process of his eye.
"You do know what you just did was stupid, right," I informed him.
He said nothing in reply. I get he's probably feeling like shit right now, but he need to understand what his actions caused. What his actions cause me to feel in that time span.
"Shisui-,"
"I get it Sakura! I messed. I shouldn't have gone alone, but you don't get it. That was a family member, and tou saw what Danzo did with those eyes," he yelled, and honestly as much a I am sympathizing him, I am also slightly infuriated.
How dare he assume I don't know what it was like to loose someone I cared for deeply. Especially, since he knows what happened to my mother in the beginning of the war. Know how many patients I couldn't same after getting close to the.
My silence must of been enough for him to realize what he implied. I finished up healing the eye tissue, and covered it up as quickly as I could. I did not want to explode and say something that could ruin what ever our relationship is called.
"Sakura, I- I'm sorry I didn't mean for it to come out that way. I just," he said tailing off at the end, my was already to him at this point.
"Please, say something Sakura."
"You can be such a hero, you know that. You not only put yourself in danger, but you disregarded how it'd affect those around you.
How'd it affect me.
You could have died. You could have broken your promise you made me after my mom died. Do you know what that would have done to me," I informed him, finally turning back to look at him.
To hell with the fact that my eyes are tearing up. He needed to see what he caused me to feel.
Suddenly his arms where around me, in a tight hug. Wrapping my arms around his wait,I buried my face in the the crook of his neck.
"I am so sorry, Sakura. I promised I'd never leave you, and your right. I did almost break it, but it was thanks to you that I'm here. That danzo does not have my other eye,' he said, as he pulled away.
Hie gave me a smile, and placed two fingers against my forehead.
Maybe. Maybe I could not be angry with him right now. Perhaps, I should be happy that I can still hold him in my arms.
No matter how stupid he is, or how big of a jerk he is; he'll also be my stupid jerk that I love.
Plus, he'll be the one filling in Tsunade shishō on today's events. Not me.

So um, I've been vaguely informed (the details aren't really my business) there's been a situation so I just want to clarify something:
My vent posts are just that, vent posts. They're not me making an educated callout on an individual and they shouldn't be seen as THIS PERSON IS JUST A TERRIBLE PERSON AND HERE'S THE 100% LOGICAL REASONS WHY. I only put it in caps to clarify I think that's how I came off, my vents don't reflect how I actually see people, they reflect how I see people in that hurt state.
Does that justify not adding clarity to begin with? No, and I will definitely do so in the future, but I feel clarifying now is better than just leaving this confusion in the air. So here it is.
I will be more careful in the future that my vents don't breach containment, I tried to be clear the goal was not harassment and I do genuinely feel bad that apparently someone saw and took it as quite genuine. In this situation, it was less about the person and more a trend of people accidentally making a character's "evil side" into an alter like entity because they think it's cute, funny, or hot. People are often way more willing to accept that than actual system relationships.
It ended up hitting on a sour spot because for a long time I've had a deep and extremely important relationship with an alter of mine, but I'd constantly worried due to the nature of said alter, it would be heavily judged and not as accepted as if I just saw him as a fictional character. This is not a justification, but an explanation for the layers of hurt on top of it being a very bad stereotype. The fact I haven't been more open about the relationship is on me, and you know what? I should be, even if others will look down on me for it. That's their damage.
I can't speak for the original intent of the user I was venting about, and I should have been clear I was reacting to how it all came across rather than knowing their full intent. Which yes, it came across really bad but, people make mistakes. People get scared and do dumb things. It happens, so again, should have been clear their intent was unknown, it just came off bad in a way that made me feel like I had to block to protect myself.
I'm not going to tell you not to "tattle" on me. That's really 100% up to you, but I do ask you to keep in mind the point of my vent posts before you do. Cause yeah, me venting because I am upset or triggered or what the Hell ever is going to sound really bad, but if you asked me once the dust was settled I'd probably just say, "yeah that user made a mistake, and it was enough to deeply hurt me to the point I don't want to talk to them anymore. I don't think they're a bad person, I just don't want them in my space to avoid future issues". But, next time I will try to cool down and be more open about my process, as I realize how bad some of the things I said sound.
I shouldn't have painted them as a bad moot, I should have just explained I didn't think they were very conscious of the fact I was plural, so I wanted to be more careful about moots from now on to ensure that part is understood loud and clear in ALL its regards before I accidentally put myself in (unintentionally) triggering spaces.
So uh, if it wasn't clear please don't harrass this person. Also please don't judge my friends for just trying to be supportive. Most of them only vaguely knew about the situation and only two of us were involved. They were responding to what they knew at the time and were extremely protective due to the hurt I was feeling.
I'm gonna try to make this the last post I make about this, but I just genuinely never meant to hurt anyone so I wanted to say my peace.
