Set not long after Eclipse failed to steal the master emerald. He's so angry and alone and his head is so empty and the babies need him all the time and he's incredibly stressed and it's all SHADOW'S FAULT.

The next time Eclipse see's him, he doesn't hold back, he pours all of his rage and pain into fighting him. And it works.

And then he realizes Shadow is dead. What happens next?

I'd imagine if Eclipse were ever to actually kill Shadow, for the first few seconds he'd feel terribly proud of himself. RELIEVED. FINALLY. HE DID WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO! WHAT HE WAS MADE TO DO! FINALLY, VENGENCE FOR THE DESTRUCTION SHADOW BROUGHT UPON THEIR KIND!

...Their kind.

That...was his brother.

Not counting the Dark Arms...that was...the only family he had left.

And now he's gone. It's just Eclipse now.

No. He would NOT feel bad about this. He was created SPECIFICALLY to get rid of Shadow, no mercy. It's a success on his part! He'd WON!

So...why did it hurt? What was this strange, heavy and overwhelming feeling he felt whenever he looked over at what he had done? He couldn't look anymore. It was too much to bear.

HE DIDN'T CARE!!

But he was shaking. His breathing was heavy.

HE WAS JUST TIRED FROM THE FIGHT!! HE. DIDN'T. CARE!!

Then he feels something. Some kind of liquid had fallen onto his hand.

He did care.

He never wanted to lose his brother...

But he had lost everything, and now he lost what little remained.

And it was all his fault.

He had to live with that now.

Those people Shadow was close to...they'd probably hunt him down relentlessly for this.

Nothing was fixed. He just made it all worse. He always made things worse.

I think it would be like an anti-redemption au, if you get what I mean. Instead of growing closer to Shadow, Clip killed him. Rouge and Omega WILL find him for what he did. Now its personal. Maybe Clip decides...things won't ever get better. He always makes things worse, so why not be worse? They want him to be the assumptions? They want a monstrous, murderous Black Arms?

That's just what he'll be, then.

Ok but what if Eclipse was trying to do better before hand and asked Sonic about it? And Sonic tried to give him advice? And before Sonic knew it Rouge calls him telling him Eclipse killed shadow ?

What if Eclipse was close, so close to that redemption and now Can never reach it bcs he acted impulsively one time ?

Anon I am vibrating. I had to tweak this a bit to fit the continuity we already created (Eclipse has only been on Earth a few weeks, he hasn't had time or space to bond with anyone)

Sonic couldn't believe it.

Last week, he had ran into a strange person. A type of Mobian he had never met before. Even odder, the guy seemed deeply upset, almost unraveling at the seams.

When Sonic asked him, he mentioned over and over that he was Shadow's brother. Except that Shadow hated him. Truth be told, Sonic had a hard time believing it. This guy wasn't even a hedgehog. Except for the red markings, he looked nothing alike. And Shadow had never mentioned anything about a brother before.

None the less, Sonic couldn't just stand by and watch two siblings who were struggling, he had to help!

So while they only talked for a few minutes, he tried to give this guy the best advice that he could. How Shadow wasn't the best at conversation or explaining himself, and that he needed some extra space sometimes. But to not give up, Shadow would come around.

It wasn't until after that guy and his little creatures left, Sonic realized he hadn't even asked his name. Ah well, he'd probably see that guy again. Especially if he was Shadow's brother.

He was different, but so far, he seemed okay. Like he needed help. And Sonic was great at that, hopefully his advice worked.

And then he got a phone call.

"Rouge?" Sonic asked. "What's wrong?" He could barely understand her, she was yelling and crying and gasping for breath, all at the same time. "Rouge?"

"Shadow's dead!" Rouge said, her voice breaking in grief, "that fucker killed him!"

Sonic stopped, suddenly becoming aware of his own breathing, of how bright the sun was. How nothing else seemed to matter. He must have heard wrong. Shadow couldn't be killed, it wasn't possible. "What?"

Rouge took several sharp quick breathes before she answered, "Shadow's dead. Eclipse killed him."

"Who?"

"His brother."

The world started spinning and Sonic had to sit down sharply, "His..."

"That lizard thing," she spat. "He went after the Master Emerald a few weeks ago and Shadow defeated him then, I don't know why he couldn't do it now-"

Sonic swallowed and his voice turned unnaturally calm, sharp and deadly, completely different from how he normally sounded. "I'll find him. He won't hide from me."

He had given that guy, Eclipse, he had given him a chance. Had tried to befriend him. Tried to help him out. Eclipse hadn't been suffering, he had been plotting, wanting to kill Shadow. Even worse, he had taken advantage of Sonic's help.

That had been his mistake.

Eclipse was about to have their their full wrath brought down upon his head.

Sonic turned around. He had no idea where Eclipse might be hiding, where he might go next. But Sonic was the fastest thing alive, he'd find him. Even if it took weeks, he had speed when searching on his side

"Can you and Omega go look for him?" Shadow asked Rouge.

"Yes," she said, trying to pull herself together. "We'll find him."

"We will. And bring him to justice," Sonic said.

Shadow deserved that much.

"Ready or not," Sonic mumbled to himself, getting ready to run. "Here I come Eclipse."

We're gonna revisit that Caretaker Luke AU again because it brings me a certain amount of joy to think about it when I'm in a bitter mood and I just finished Jedi: Survivor, so I'm incorporating that.

Cal and Merrin DO manage to create a refuge for people persecuted by the Empire on Tanalorr and it never gets found or destroyed, so there's this little community of Force Sensitive people and Jedi survivors (and others) already built by the time the Empire falls.

So when Anakin survives and Luke commits to being Rehab for Sith for the rest of his life in order to keep the New Republic from executing Anakin or locking him up for life, there's somewhere else for Jedi and Force Sensitive people to go.

But no one will even tell Luke the NAME of the planet, much less how to get there. Because it's a known fact that if Luke knows it, so will Anakin. And nobody in their right mind would ever trust Anakin with the location of Force Sensitive children or Jedi survivors, that would be madness and stupidity. So for as long as Luke chooses to protect Anakin, he's completely isolated and cut off from all other Jedi that exist, all of their knowledge and history and training.

And even Leia can't know about it or go get training because she refuses to cut Luke out of her life. So Leia is isolated, too. And so is Han. And so is Ahsoka, because let's be completely honest, Ahsoka would 100% forgive Anakin completely in this scenario and refuse to leave him behind all over again.

Anakin hates this. Anakin's instinct is to hunt down the Hidden Path and find this planet to force them to let Luke be a part of their community or kill them all because, well, it's Anakin and someone he cares about is upset, we all know how he reacts to that. Anakin throws this idea on the table at breakfast one day and Luke has to spend several weeks talking Anakin out of committing yet another Jedi genocide, just this time in Luke's name instead of Padme's.

There is no redemption available for Anakin aside from just leaving the Jedi completely alone for the rest of his life. He can give them the gift of his absence and that is it. Same with the rest of the galaxy, honestly. The best thing he can do for the people he's hurt is get out of their way and disappear forever. Luke forgives him. Ahsoka forgives him. Obi-Wan's ghost probably forgives him.

The Jedi on Tanalorr try their very best to pretend he doesn't exist, but when the news breaks that Anakin's finally died and they're finally free and safe from the Sith, there's an obvious uptick in the general happiness among the refugees of Tanalorr. There aren't any celebrations as such, but some people decide to cook a favorite dish to share among everyone, the children are given some time off of lessons so they can go out and play, and there's just a sense of merriment that wafts through the Temple when the last Sith rejoins the Force.

Hi anon! I'm happy you're enjoying the story. The fact you're asking me this tells me you missed today's update, probably because ao3 is down.

The short answer is no. And don't take it as hate, I think it is great you found something you enjoy in this fandom. But jegulus makes absolutely no sense to me.

I understand that the marauders fandom is going through a "canon doesn't matter" phase, but I couldn't agree less. When I post those fics I do it because it brings me joy to write about characters I grew up with, with their personalities, tastes, relationships...

And you could say "but cami, wolfstar isn't canon either" and you'd be absolutely right. But Remus and Sirius have a pre existing relationship in the story, and there are even book quotes that hint at Remus having a (most likely one sided) crush on Sirius. It is one thing for me to bend the story a little further in ways that are canon compliant. It's something else entirely for me to change who they are, as the current fandom has the habit of doing very carelessly imo.

But this is getting long, so anyway. No. No jegulus. At least not in a romantic sense. Not here or in any of my future works. Jily will always be my go to as far as Lily and James are concerned. You are welcome to stay and see how Regulus' relationship with his brother will turn out, though!

Here's that AU I was talking about writing.

This AU takes place several years after the events of Book 3, albeit with it having an alternate ending. Instead of being killed, Simon never kicked Grace off the edge of the train, allowing everyone to get inside and lock the train exit before the Gohm could get them. Despite this, the rift between Simon and Grace is stronger than ever, and they both agree that he should leave, essentially being sent off into exile in the greater Train.

Weeks turn into months turn into years. Simon’s number gradually goes down. He’s learned the truth and is trying to become a better person, but it takes a lot out of him; his worldview was shattered and he’s just trying to pick up the pieces. He makes things right with Samantha and stays by her side, tagging along with her, Frank and Randall in her business escapades. Simon slowly comes to forgive her.

His number goes down and down and down, receding up and down his body as he learns to help and forgive and be forgiven as he learns to move on. The number reaches down his arm, towards his wrist. He’s actually terrified of what’s next, because he doesn’t know what the real world holds for him. He’ll have to say goodbye soon. It only took him three years to undo the damage done to himself.

On the other side of things, Hazel heals as best she can too, albeit not to a great start. It’s clear that after a few months, Amelia is no mother. Sick of her being uncaring and inattentive, Hazel sneaks away from her one night as she sleeps, and travels the train on her own. The only real closure she’s gotten is that she’s a so-so mimic of Alrick Timmens, and there’s not much more to that. There’s nothing for her with this woman.

So she travels the train by herself, meeting new Denizens, even the odd passenger, but never sticking or staying with them. She essentially becomes a child nomad, keeping to herself as she grows older. A few years pass, and she’s nine years old when she meets an odd, shapeshifting deer-denizen full of surprises (Alan Dracula). Hazel tries to get rid of him, but he follows everywhere she goes. After a while, she accepts this new, weird companion into her daily life, and comes to like and appreciate him.

More time passes. Hazel grows older and Alan Dracula stays the same (she doesn’t call him by that name though); she is fifteen now, and feels grateful that she’s had a companion throughout it all – she may not have survived long without one. One fateful day, however, she comes across a magical discovery, in the shape of an old friend. She and Alan enter the jungle car, what was once her old home, and after a couple days of exploring, she meets none other than her. Tuba. Hazel is overjoyed…. But Tuba doesn’t recognise the girl. Having been rebooted and regurgitated back onto the train, Tuba is back to what she was before she met Hazel – a grieving, solitary mother living alone in the woods. Despite this, Hazel stays in the jungle to try and get her to remember, with Alan D accompanying them. Hazel and Tuba become close friends after a time, despite the initial rift.

Throughout all of this, Hazel is eager to find Simon again, and chooses to look for either Amelia or One-One the conductor to make that happen. Her other two denizen friends follow her, especially Tuba when she discovers *why* Hazel’s doing this.

Hazel has wet dreams about Simon – confusing dreams.

She finds that she hates Simon less and less, especially now that Tuba is back (albeit not as she remembers her), but otherwise still wants to find him. She just keeps the exact reasons for it a secret, making it seem like a revenge thing. In all honesty, she just wants some kind of closure.

They all eventually meet a rather shocked and slightly more adult Grace, surrounded by the few Apex children that are left, as well as a couple more kids she’s picked up along the way. This time, she’s been helping them get their numbers down and leave the train. There’s barely a few beats that pass before the two embrace, practically in tears.

So now, you have an entire group of people travelling together – Grace, the Apex, Hazel, AD and Tuba – all making their way to find what the Turtle-girl’s looking for, losing a few numberless kids along the way.

And wouldn’t you know it, they eventually do. It takes about half a year, but the four-man group (with no more Apex kids to help) find Amelia, who’s equally shocked to see them – and alive, no less. After some careful cajoling, Amelia agrees to lead them to One-One.

I lost energy towards the end here, but basically Grace and Hazel get off the train, and after some time manage to find Simon living with Jesse, Lake, and the Cosays. Simon is still very remorseful but he's doing a lot better. Hazel still has one hell of a crush on him mixed in with her feelings of resentment, but the edge was taken off by Tuba's partial resurrection. I'll write more for this at some point lmao ~~
