Aroallo thoughts.

I don't like how people think being aroallo means having sex without romance.

There are aroallos who are not having sex!

To me, my aroallo experience is mostly fighting back against the gender role idea that women are inherently romantic and passive when it comes to relationships (in pop media the man is the first to say his feelings).

Also sex work needs to be decriminalized (legalization is not enough) for those who do want to have sex but don't have a sexual friendship with someone.

And again, get rid of the gender role belief that women are passive and therefore only men want to be clients.

Arogender is such a neat label because it doesn’t necessarily specify what a person’s gender is (although it can), but rather that it’s connected to our aromanticism. It can be varied, dynamic, vague or specific, a descriptor, an umbrella term, or a gender on its own. For me, being arogender sometimes means experiencing all genders, as though my lack of attraction has allowed me take on all the imagined “other halves” that society says I need to be happy. Other times, it feels like I don’t have a gender at all because so much of society’s understanding of gender is tied to attraction and how we relate to others romantically. And sometimes it’s a singular gender--just “aromantic” or “green” or “evil <2” Anyway, I love being arogender and experiencing aromanticism across different aspects of my identity

Definitions, if needed:

Non-SAM aro: an aro who doesn't use the split attraction model. They ID as "only" aromantic and/or prioritize that label above any others

Aegoromantic: an aro who has a disconnect between romance and themself: i.e. they only like romance when they are not personally involved (like in media or shipping) or only like romance in theory

Loveless Aro: an aro who does not feel "love" and/or rejects the societal concept of "love" (among many other ways to be loveless)

Arogender: an aro who feels that their aromanticism affects their gender identity in some way. it can influence binary genders as well as nonbinary genders, as well as cis people's genders
