First year of Obi-Wan Kenobi Ben Manaia’s life as a Mandalorian, age 13.
Featuring his Ori’vod N’ala, his Hi’Buir Hive, his Ma’Buir Mansoor, his Ba’vodu Spike, and the family pet strill, Alor Dawoor (loosely translated to Sir Stinky)
More about his new Mando family under the cut
Ben changed his name simply becuase in this world, he has no strong emotional ties to the name ‘Obi-wan Kenobi’. He takes the name Manaia because that it the name of his family, and he takes the name Ben because that is the nickname the ad to young to pronounce ‘Obi-wan’ call him. Ben Manaia is a name spoken in love.
His older sister is 16 when he’s adopted, and she immediately decides that’s she’s her brother’s body guard and protecter, no matter what. She’s there to help with his fears, his hurts, and his worries. In a battle they are each other’s first choice of second in command, always. (Can Chiss and Zabraks have kids? Ok this world they can idc)
His mother Hive, helped freed fellow Zabraks from slavery in her youth, and thankfully knows how to help Ben after his 6 months in the Mines. Once he’s comfortable with the family, Hive loves to hug her son and call him her Senaar verd’ika. With his family’s speciality in combat with both training animals and helping/training those in need, his mother takes in the more combat training role, as well as his people skills, and her family’s saying “Fight for something to live, and die for something to Love.”
His father Mansoor- actually Schma’nsoor’crahs- is not one for big speeches of emotions, but instead is silent with praise, something that Ben appreciates, his silence making Ben think of calmer times in the Temple. Mansoor trains his children with the animals they fight side by side with, and teaches them his family’s saying: “Honor is to kill so others can live, die so others don’t have to, and to love so you never forget.”
His aunt is force sensitive- which I’ve decided Mandos call Dral Manda, bc I don’t know if they canonically call it smth different but I want them to- so Ben gets training, although it’s completely different from how he remembers the Temple being. This is a good thing, actually.
And finally, Alor Dawoor has been the family pet for generations, and as with every new child in the family, Alor Dawoor thinks Ben is her new baby. It’s adorable. She’s his best friend.
