☆ note: aaand with this very boring n underwhelming chapter , only one finally comes to an end (not all hope is lost , tho , as much as i hated writing it at times im so emotionally attached to this series i might consider a little epilogue/spin-off chapter) . AND i managed to squeeze in the haoyn beef explanation ?? tbh when i first posted it i kind of expected it to do fairly well (the boys planet smau writers demographic was like 10 ppl at best back then) but i did not expect it to do this well n singlehandedly gain me almost 500 followers . thats crazy insane bonkers . why am i getting kind of emotional writing this i dont think listening to light the way by cravity was a good idea . anyways , im sorry by the end of it i kind of lost the 'spark' that made this fic good - i couldn't even get to 20 chapters ffs - writing it was more of a chore than a fun little hobby for me n at times it made me genuinely anxious to the point of crying/getting nauseous . yes user li juyomiao is fucking insane but hey ! im alright now i promise ! jumping right into another series is probably not the smartest thing to do but im so excited abt it n i really really want to branch out into writing for other groups n the idea i had was so so good ,, i'll learn from my mistakes n write a few chapters in advance so i can take it easy n not pressure myself , tho :] thank u to everyone who supported only one until its very last chapter !! this authors note is long asf so if u read it all heres a dumpling for u my lovelies 🥟 thats it , li out‼️‼️ (im fr getting emotional good lord help me)

yes !! byun baek is my bias, he's my ult and the only man i've ever loved truly im so soft for him !! but you're writing is making me swerve to sehun and he's already my second ult :( i've gotten up to chapter 12 so far and i'm actually writing a review for it because i opened up a fanfic review to practice site on here (that flopped so hard im laughing but i haven't written anything for it anyway and i don't know if i ever will publish anything) -

i have a message written about it for you that i will send in soon because i want to be cleared up since some of my views of sehuns and ahris attitude (sorry for the grammar i get so confused on how to use it since i'm not in school right now) they aren't very positive and i would like to voice them lmao i would also like to get your opinion as the author of my perception of the characters.

ok so im here again im so sorry for flooding your inbox i just finished apartment 5108 and in my other messages i said i wrote smth down about chapter 12 and i did. i finished it, i said sehun was selfish and that ahri should leave him because he was going to destroy her and more. one day i might send it in. but is it okay to say i dont feel good about sehun and ahri? sehun loves ahri but i don't think he deserves her. i think im just stuck on what he did to her before. the detail is great tho!

If you’re at Chapter 12, then you’re right to feel that Sehun and Ahri don’t match each other. He doesn’t deserve her in that time period because he’s still too blind and selfish to his old feelings for Jiyul. You can see his actions breaking both of them down---more so for Ahri because she’s used to this kind of heartache. It’s hard to forgive him at that state but progressing forward he is trying. They’re both flawed characters and their decisions aren’t easily liked. It’s a slow journey for them and like any other human, they will make decisions not everyone will agree with. 

I think for Ahri, I made her character out to be a better than myself. I wouldn’t have stayed as long as she have. I would’ve given up a long time ago and that trust would’ve never been relit. I read this quote where it describes how I wrote her personality:

last chapter ending:

it’s like seeing an accident happening in slow motion. there is nothing you can do other than chew as fast as you can.

“yoongi?”, jungkook asks and the hot tomato sauce burns your throat as you swallow your food.

“yoongi, you know? _______’s plus one?”

“______ doesn’t have a plus one”, jungkook states with authority in his voice. now namjoon is looking at you with wide eyes – did you not tell your best friend that you’ll take your therapist to his wedding?

the new dj doesn’t want to contradict his employee two minutes after being hired, so namjoon stays silent.

before you can form a coherent thought to defuse the situation, jungkook turns towards you.

“you are coming solo to my wedding, _______”, there is no question in his tone, more of an accusation as his hot stare pierces through you. you feel strangely guilty.

the seating chart is a white board in your living room – you’re the one responsible that jungkook aunt doesn’t sit next to his crack headed nephew. there is no way he knows that you’re seated next to yoongi at his best men’s table.

“no, i’m not”, you admit timidly. at your answer jungkook’s face darkens.

“since when do you have a boyfriend, _____?” your best friend really tries not to yell at you in a filled restaurant, but his tone is as harsh as his eyes. you can hear your heartbeat quicken.

“i never said he’s my boyfriend”, you argue as jungkook huffs, clearly more irritated by the second.

“you’re bringing him to your best friend’s wedding, _____. i should hope he’s your boyfriend”, he answers with sarcasm dripping from his words. you don’t like how namjoon is watching the both of you – his eyes widen at the scene before him.

before you can ask namjoon to leave – the dinner is clearly done – jungkook’s heated stare finds the newly hired dj.

“you’re friends with him, right?”

“uhm… yeah”, he nods, clearly uncomfortable with the unwanted attention.

“how long have they been together?”, your heated friend asks.

you want to object as you watch jungkook getting more upset by the second. this isn’t your best friend. you are not sure what’s gotten into him, but this is not normal.

namjoon hesitated and searches your face for help. you don’t have any – clearly overwhelmed with the situation.

“they-... they’re not... i mean they’ve only known each other for… for like five months”, he stutters.

wrong answer, very wrong, judging by jungkook’s grim expression.

“you’ve had a boyfriend for nearly half a year and you never told me?”, he accuses you and you feel your stomach clench at his disappointment.

“he’s just a friend”, you explain, but jungkook doesn’t care. he gets up from the table without responding. you watch his hunched body move with long strides to the waiter. your hands grip your hair, pulling at the strands painfully.

“please”, you say to your barista, “please don’t tell yoongi.”

you get up, too, and follow your upset friend to the front of the restaurant, not even noticing how namjoon nods in agreement. he doesn’t want to get any more involved in this mess than he already is. his fingertips trace the outline of seojin’s signature in contemplation. he should decline jungkook’s offer. he really should.

your stilettos click against the marble as you run after jungkook who already puts on his jacket, a storm clouding his face. the moment he sees you in front of him he scoffs at you.

“i don’t want to talk right now, ____”, he tells you but continues to stand there, not yet leaving. you take that as an invitation to step closer.

“jungkook, i’m sorry i didn’t tell you that i’m bringing a friend to your wedding.”

“wrong”

huh?

“you’re not bringing him to my wedding”, jungkook tells you coolly.

come again?

“he’s not invited”, he explains shortly and doesn’t wait for your responds before turning around and leaving you there.

what did he just say?

“mr. jeon, wait! your card!”, your waiter calls after him jungkook doesn’t look back.

you try to offer him a reassuring smile. “just… give me the card”, you tell the familiar staff and he nods after a second. with jungkook’s black visa heavy in your hand the waiter hesitates in his steps.

“just… he’ll be fine, ma’am.” it’s surreal that this worker is a greater source of comfort than your best friend. your smile is watery at best when you smile in gratitude.

“he’s really difficult”, you offer. the waiter nods. “aren’t we all?”

“let’s go, ____”, namjoon says from behind and you flinch at the softness of his tone. “i know a good barista willing to make you the sweetest caramel macchiato.”

the pit in your stomach lessens when you lock eyes with your dj. “will my teeth weep at the sugar level?”

the answering smile morphs his eyes into two moon crescents. “your caries is going to throw a homecoming prom in your mouth.”

“is it just me or is your maknae really the golden boy at being an ass?”

taehyung snorts on the other line. “honey, you’ve just enjoyed the blissful heaven of being jungkook’s maknae.”

“what?”, you ask, clearly confused.

it’s been two days since that dinner – still, your best friend won’t answer any of your calls. there was an impromptu business trip which forced jungkook to travel the next morning before the two of you could talk face-to-face. now it seems, he’s actively ignoring you from overseas.

“jungkook has always been our baby, ____”, taehyung, his former bandmate explains, “it’s like getting a really cute puppy. you’re so full of endearment that you won’t stop carrying it around. so, your puppy doesn’t learn how to walk.”

“jungkook can walk”, you snort and place the last of your watered plants back in its place. the sun is overshadowed by a cloudy sky and you’re watching the tiniest rays of sunshine dancing across the window.

“emotionally, he can’t”, taehyung counters.

“so, just because seokjin couldn’t show jungkook some tough love, i can’t take a friend to his wedding?” you try to make fun of this situation, but neither you nor taehyung are laughing.

“don’t forget that in jungkook’s eyes, you’re literally a golden maknae yourself”, he adds. “he’s never seen you as anything less than perfect… and now, you lied to him.”

“i didn’t lie”, you protest and press your fingertips against the glass.

“you should have told him about your… uhm… friend coming to his wedding, honey.”

“what difference does it make? hm? i got an invite – i myself sent to me – and i rsvp’ed it. i did the seating chart. he didn’t care. he didn’t ask. why now?”

“you know why – you’ve sent this guy more than a hundred snaps of your oatmeal for weeks, rating their consistency, but you don’t tell him about such a close friend of yours? never mention him in the last months?”, taehyung bites back without humor, “not gonna lie, honey, even i am a bit upset. and i just want to fuck you.”

his crass words are not as shocking as the amount of truth behind his thoughts.

“maybe i don’t want to share yoongi with you just yet”, you offer to deflect from the unanswered accusation.

“and maybe our maknae doesn’t want to share you either”, taehyung responds wittily. well, maybe he ought to learn how to.

hi !! first of all, you're my favourite author out of every fanfic/angst writer out there and aspire to be as great as a writer as you are but i have a long long long way go to :( i need to grow first since i am still very young -

but i cant believe you're 29 !! i saw one picture of you but it wasnt your full face and even then you looked much younger !! i did assume you were around 20 though because the way you write is so mature. second of all, i read the fanfic

between sehun and ahri (sorry i cant remember the number) but this was a while ago and i stopped on the last chapter that was written and then i couldnt find it again. i've accidentally read some of the answers to questions and my heart is already-breaking. sehun and ahri dont end up together? im crying real jesus tears !! and i havent even read the rest of it yet, i will after i finish this (sorry its so long) bUT KEEPERS MADE ME SOB AT 4 IN THE MORNING I WAS ACTUALLY SOBBING YOURE GREAT !!

This is such a kind message and thank you for liking my writing and angst is life! It makes me so happy you like this genre. I’m a total sucker for it forever and always. I think I just understand pain better so it’s easier for me to convey those emotions in words. 

And yes! Keep on writing! I definitely didn’t write this way when I was younger so it’s a learning experience. The best way to get better is to just keep working at it. BTW. I have a love/hate relationship with Baek. Is he your bias? :)

The camera lens hide my wrinkles //insert tears// The Sehun and Ahri story isn’t done yet---hopefully soon if I really set my mind to it but 16 literally makes my brain hurt so I’m avoiding it atm. Have you read 15 yet? Let me know what you think of it haha. 

Keepers is also killing me. I keep rewriting it but OC sounds so weak that I need to rework her language and dialogue so that AU can wrap up. But ty ty ty for reading and letting me know your thoughts! I’m so sorry you cried from it but I’ll make sure the last chapter won’t make you cry!

can you believe it’s been three years? i miss you army

you can’t help the bittersweet memories flooding your mind at jungkook’s tweet. it’s been such a long time since bangtan stood in front of their fans – performing their music to the people who adored them with all their hearts.

you, yourself, were part of this crowd, more times than your bank account wishes to remember. their stage presence was so enticing, so alluring, you could not not fall in love with them.

jungkook shared some pictures in his tweet, old photos of jin and him demolishing a plate of deep-dish pizza in chicago, of jimin and taehyung posing in front of their pop up store in seoul, and one with all four of them bowing to the crowd in tokyo dome.

there is a smile on your face – not because you think about their shared journey, but because your best friend chose photos of events that you attended. sure, you hadn’t known them back then. but it can’t be a coincident that you have similar pictures – granted from another perspective – on your own camera roll. it makes you miss him.

“what’s going on?”, yoongi asks as he slides your coffee across the table. your starbucks is full of people, but namjoon, yoongi’s dear friend, works here. so, there is always a spot cleared for you. you don’t mind the special treatment as you sip your white mocca.

“just thinking”, you mumble, warmed by the caffeine.

“that can’t be good”, he says and sips his iced americano. he looks as tired as you feel. yoongi is recording his second mixtape right now. so, after he finishes his work talking to people about their problems, he starts rewriting, taping, recording, mixing and editing. no wonder he looks like death.

“i have you know that i’m actually thinking 67 percent of the day.”

“that can’t be good as well, ______. please use your brain more often – it might evolve with training.”

you gap at his audacity. “you do know i’m not paying you to talk me down, right?”

yoongi’s eyes smile while his lips are still half asleep. “you’re not paying me right now, _____. we are just friends meeting up for coffee before we have to… be a part of the working class.”

“i still can’t believe i get to see beautiful, brilliant, boisterous butterflies”, you say. your friend answers with an unattractive snort as his hands move into his thick, bleached hair.

“and i can’t believe you’re getting paid to watch bonkers, brackish, boring butterflies.”

you look away as you see his biceps flex. when did get this muscular? it takes a second for you to register his insult. maybe you need another coffee before leaving.

“i do have to care about my class as well, yoongi. it’s not all sunshine and butterflies. it’s also children’s snot and education.” still, you’re not making eye contact. if this was a therapy session, he’d ask for you to look at him, to ask why you’re feeling uncomfortable. but here, you are… just his friend.

“your work is important, _____, i know”, yoongi answers honestly. he knows how much you love these animals and children. and it is a big deal that seoul’s butterfly exhibition opens up just for your excursion. it makes him happy to see you this excited.

“and because i know that, i’ll remind you that you had to leave three minutes ago.” what? your eyes rush to your watch, only to widen in surprise.

“damn it, namjoon”, you mutter. your barista friend did take a long time with your order.

“don’t blame joon, _____. we were the ones who missed the train”, your friend reminds you as you put on your jacket in a rush.

“less correcting me, more helping me, yoongi”, you shush at him and make a motion to your heavy bag right next to his chair. “come on.”

yoongi doesn’t know why he agreed to help you carry all the lunch packs to school, he really doesn’t. nevertheless, he gets up and slings the heavy bag onto his shoulder and grabs his half-finished drink.

“let’s go – teacher of the year.”

the exhibition is amazing. you feel true bliss walking around the nature themed rooms, all home to one of the most rare, beautiful creatures. the kids hang on their tour guide’s lips as she tells them interesting facts about butterflies.

your phone is a constant companion – the camera roll now filled with funny pictures for the moms and dads to enjoy at the next parent-teacher conference. there are even a few photos of just you with a pink butterfly resting on your shoulder. jisoo, your coworker, is an amateur instagrammer, so the results of her taking your pictures are… really flattering.

now, the kids enjoy their break before you guys leave to drive back to school.

“really, you amaze me, ___”, your coworker says as she sits next to you on the bench – eyes trained on your students chasing around the butterflies.

“why?”, you ask, your attention monopolized by the two boys in a heated exchange over their shared butterfly net.

“getting the exhibition to open up just for our class? after hours? without additional fees?”

you flinch at her words as your heartbeat quickens. “wha- what? jisoo? i-“, you start to stutter, “i thought… you organized that.”

there is a fruit basket waiting on her desk with a thank you note for all her planning. now jisoo, too, looks uncomfortable.

“i didn’t”, she says.

it takes you a long time before you reach out. the whole train ride was spent with a pro and contra list on your ipad. then, while you were making yourself a two-person bowl of ramen, you crafted more than one email, only to delete every attempt. you haven’t talked to jungkook for more than five days. that’s the longest period the two of you ever went without seeing each other.

there is still a tightness in your chest when you think about his insult that night on the terrace. at first, you weren’t sure if jungkook realized that he hurt you – admittedly you aren’t the best with communicating your feelings. but your cold responses to his texts the next day must have been enough of a red flag for him to act.

then came the gifts: a triple chocolate muffin, still warm, delivered to your home before you had to leave on monday.

on tuesday, there was a singed copy of the unreleased album from one of your favorite kpop groups.

the next day, there was a poem collection where he scribbled in some commentary. you nearly teared up at that because this used to be your ritual when you first got to know each other: lending books with marked and commented pages for the other to enjoy.

on thursday he was strangely silent – only a single daisy decorated your briefcase.

but now, on friday, he went out of his way to get your class into this exhibition. you don’t even want to think about what that must have cost him.

there is an uneasiness in your fingertips as you dial his number. for one fleeting moment you want to call your therapist instead. but you can’t… because you may have left your whole “cold-shoulder-to-jungkook”-move out of the last session. and you really can’t take yoongi’s probing right now.

he answers after seven rings, breathlessly happy.

“______”

you smile and it’s not uncomfortable.

“jungkook… you didn’t have to”, you greet him and can’t help the endearment in your voice. he picks up on that and chuckles.

“of course, i didn’t… i wanted to.”

“thank you”, you answer, “it was really the highlight of my week.”

you can hear his cockiness at your words. “better than stray kids’ new album?”

“better than your thoughts on contemporary poems”, you counter teasingly. then, there is a beat of silence.

“______”, jungkook begins, “i… i really didn’t want you to think i’m not … or that i wouldn’t… do anything for you. you mean so much to me… it’s a shame i have to prove it to you… it should be… obvious.”

you suck in air as if your life depends on it. his words warm your heart and his awkwardness makes you smile.

“i get that i wasn’t the best of friends… but i’ll improve – trust me!”, jungkook vows with fire in his voice. “the winter collection has been kicking my ass… my family has been nagging about christmas… and the wedding…”

there is a beat of silence you do not dare to interrupt. this is his moment, not your responsibility.

jungkook collects himself fast and continues. “i know how much you’ve done for this wedding, for me… for us… and i want to be more involved… i’ll be by your side for all of next week’s appointments. ms yang already cleared my schedule.”

jungkook wants… to be by your side when you talk to the dj? the cake decorator? when you finalize the seating chart? dear lord.

“let’s spend some quality time together, ____. just you and me… and the wedding.”

you cannot find the right responds as you gap silently into your phone. after a moment, another voice is heard through the speaker.

“ask her if she liked the muffin i baked her.” his fiancée’s words punch you in the gut without ill-intent.
