Illumisect

The Lantern Pokemon

A Bug/Electric Type.

Dex Entry: Despite their status as a common bug type, Illumisect are not only commonly seen around the Gensokai region's towns and cities, but they are welcome. Since much of the Gensokai region lacks access to electricity or even fuel for oil lanterns, they instead have Illumisect help them light their homes and streets at night. Illumisect are noble protectors of Glowva, willing to fight even the strongest predators to protect their next of kin. During their mating season, Illumisect males fight eachother by releasing powerful blast of electricity from their bulb. These blasts beautifully light up the night sky, leading to many areas of the region holding festivals during this season.

Stats (Yes, I actually have Illumisects Base Stats):

HP: 80

ATK: 45

DEF: 70

SPAK: 135

SPDEF: 70

SPD: 80

BST: 480

So when I was thinking of the early route bug, Wriggle imediatly came to mind, and in that same line of thought, my boy Illumisect came to me. If I could redraw current Glowva, I'd add the antena, which are meant to resemble the pull things on lamps. Drew that picture of Illumisect back in... Junior year of highschool and am still VERY satisfied with that design for Glowva. I've always liked bug types, so it's only fitting Illumisect is the first evolution I give yall. In retrospect, I'd also change current Glowva's bulb coil to match its evolutions because that looks WAY better.

Now that the quality of Duolingo has fallen (even more) due to AI and people are more willing to make the jump here are just some alternative apps and what languages they have:

"I just want an identical experience to DL"

Busuu (Languages: Spanish, Japanese, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Korean)

"I want a good audio-based app"

Language Transfer (Languages: French, Swahili, Italian, Greek, German, Turkish, Arabic, Spanish, English for Spanish Speakers)

"I want a good audio-based app and money's no object"

Pimsleur (Literally so many languages)

Glossika (Also a lot of languages, but minority languages are free)

*anecdote: I borrowed my brother's Japanese Pimsleur CD as a kid and I still remember how to say the weather is nice over a decade later. You can find the CDs at libraries and "other" places I'm sure.
