To me, this is one of the most bittersweet bonding moments between King and Luz, as he is coming to terms with the fact that he loves having a big sister after all, and will do whatever it takes to have her to himself. These snapshots of sweet oblivion just before an uncomfortable realization are a testament to Dana Terrace's masterful storytelling in my humble opinion — and these are the snapshots I like to capture forever frozen in happiness, because I don't like how complicated life can be sometimes.

( I know what's canon. But this a headcanon for me and my ship. Don't like agree to disagree agree. Post hate and I'll block you) For me this is where as a lunter shipper I like to headcanon where Luz fell for him( which she'll totally deny and bury deep down in a closed door in her mind. Because she's with Amity, but also mostly I like to headcanon it's because she's afraid). It's a stressful traumatic situation. Several bombshell where just dropped, and Luz in her mind failed to save Hunter and just watched him die in front of her. But than he saved her (because she didn't actually let him die, she managed to save him with her jacket, with her glyph magic) and he's alive and he just called her by her first name for the first time! And for her it's everything. Relief and unknown feelings are running wild in her( and for second that she will totally block and not think about again for awhile) she loves him. She loves that " bad but sad boy". But than reality of course sets in and she closes a door on that feeling( till of course when she has to face it but that's a different headcanon of mine)

For Hunter though he definitely fell first and if I had to pick a moment it would be this one above when they're talking magic. This is the first time someone has talked to him like this. Someone near his age, outside of the golden guard persona. Unconsciously his mind is like this one. I like this one (Of course previously he has been flirting with her, he definitely thought she was cute).And it's sweet but also angsty. Because how lonely he must be. But he makes a connection. And maybe he doesn't know right away what he's feeling but it's nice and warm and comforting. This is the first step to everything and it just happens because Luz shares his love for wild magic. It always comes back to glyphs, magic, and making a choice for them. Choosing their own paths. And I love to headcanon that it's also a connection to how they fell for each other.

honestly i'm just super grateful dana terrace didn't write luz to be a lesbian (which probably would have had a different outcome if she herself was one) - and i don't mean "i feel like some people would have thought amity to be the bi one", i mean i'm truly glad we actually have a well-liked canonical bisexual sapphic in the sea of canonical les4les pairings in this type of media, especially since more and more lesbians are getting this idea from somewhere that if you're not les4les "as it should be" then you're "dating the traitor" which i'm not even going to talk about how biphobic that is, but whatever. and what really takes the cake for me is that luz is gnc, possibly even masc. it's not even that masc/butch/stag/gnc bi women are few in numbers for me, rather it's the fact that way too many lesbians believe bi women are too man-riddled to be anything but overtly unrealistically femme (much love to bi femmes + please date me /hj, i'm just making a point about stereotypes) and patriarchy-upholding, probably more so than straight women out of some serious hatred. but people all across the internet love luz and her sapphic representation actually means something to queer women, both bi and lesbian alike. i've heard some shitty things about how the owl house fandom on twitter treats bisexuals but as far as my experiences go, there is actually an effort made to respect bisexuals from those who hold value and appreciation to her as a character. there's less biphobia in a community worshipping a canonically open bisexual, even if it's not totally gone. luz's existence has an effect on the anti-biphobia "bisexual women are not your misogynistic homophobic stereotypes" movement that only bi women seem to be participating in for the most part.
