AJ Dominion was… shocked, to say the least.

Shocked and probably confused.

And concerned. Very concerned.

But not for Blaze.

His brother had started to act stranger and stranger every day a few months while being in a relationship. He and Crusher stayed in the bedroom more often than they should, and when Blaze comes out, it's only him.

AJ noted that was odd.

And when they're not in the room, AJ could hear Blaze yelling, almost screaming at Crusher. Something about the news on him cheating on him.

Or about planning to hurt him.

Anything accused on the news that people say Crusher was doing.

It wasn't true at all.

AJ came and talked to Crusher from time to time. They even became inventing buddies. They went to the basement to make inventions from time to time.

But whenever Blaze came back home, Crusher just… shut down.

Crusher would never fight back. He'd just cry silently and curl up.

Blaze sometimes threatens to leave him, and Crusher had to beg him to stay.

AJ thought that was strange too.

But poor AJ was only 13 and had no experience nor any advice with this.

He had graduated College at the age of 12, so he didn't have any experience with romance and couples.

And their parents were nothing like how Blaze treated Crusher, so he had no idea if it was okay or not.

Day by day, things got stranger.

Darington visited often now.

AJ welcomed his friend, but something about his appearance felt off.

Blaze would go with Darington outside for like, a hang out, but whenever Darington showed up unannounced, he'd shoo him off.

Crusher hadn't seen Darington arrive at all, but… maybe that was the goal?

What was Blaze hiding?

One day, things got even stranger as AJ came back from helping Gabby to see Blaze holding Crusher in a bridal style.

And then AJ saw the ring on Crusher's finger.

Oh.

OH.

Blaze proposed to him?

AJ's head was spinning in confusion as he was taken back and just left the house to think.

He didn't wanna think bad about his brother, but, in AJ's view, he was starting to be very toxic towards Crusher.

Blaze had accused him again and again but was still willing to wanna marry him?

Why?

How?

How did he get Crusher to agree?

Unless Crusher was given no choice…

Blaze's sister Sparkle was 8, at the time, but she wasn't stupid.

Neither was Blaze's father, Flame.

When the family heard of Blaze's engagement, they rushed right over right away. Sparkle had a bad feeling. Flame had his stomach churning in discomfort.

Something felt… off.

Ever since Blaze publicly announced that he and Crusher were dating, they always felt that something was off. They always thought it was Crusher, tho.

They couldn't be blamed for assuming that. Crusher was the guy who always puts their son in danger with his cheats after all, so the thought it had something to do with him.

Or something he did.

Or… what he could've done.

But as the rumors went on, something felt more off, and it wasn't Crusher.

It didn't feel like it.

It was just… something else.

It gave them more of a puzzlement when Blaze announced he was engaged with Crusher.

So they went off.

They arrived at Blaze's place and was met by Blaze letting them in, and Crusher handing over food and drinks for them.

Flame's wife Phoenix didn't suspect a thing and just hugged Blaze, proud and happy for him and Crusher. She brought gifts and everything.

Blaze happily welcomed her hug. Crusher raised a hand to wave.

At least, that's what Blaze thought it was.

When Flame and Sparkle looked, their eyes widened.

…It was a sign.

He was signing to them.

Crusher gave a small smile, and Sparkle could see some small bruises. She hissed.
