Yesterday was a gorgeous day, and we were finally able to get out of the house! I was pretty intimidated about having both my kids out together considering I had never been in public with them both, except to go to church... But the day turned out to be pretty great! We went for lunch with my grandmother, to celebrate her birthday, did some shopping, and went to the park to let Madison play...

The day started out kind of hectic. We were supposed to take my moms car, but her car is so small, we couldn't fit both car seats! So my mom and grandmother ended up having to switch cars for us to be able to take both of them. First thing that happened before we left the house? Madison throws a tantrum because she thinks her Mima (my mom) is leaving. (Because my grandmother drove her car when she left) I was already stressed lol...

We went to eat first. We had lunch at Cracker Barrel, and Madison actually ate more than she usually does. She ate chicken and dumplings, some burger, and fries. I brought Lewis in, in his car seat, and he was so good! At first he was a little fussy, but all the background noise from the restaurant calmed him down and he was such a sweet boy.

After lunch, we went to Walmart, TJmaxx and Gabe's to do some shopping. I found Madison the cutest little floral romper for 5 bucks at Walmart and I couldn't pass it up! At Gabe's I found myself 2 H&M shirts for $4 each, and a peplum top for $6. Lewis was a little fussy during the time we spent shopping, but it wasn't bad at all! He barely cried at all. I did end up having to buy him a new pacifier though, because the one he was using was too big for him. I also had to buy Madison a soft blanket because she was throwing a fit for her "minkey" (her security blanket-which we left at home).

After we were done shopping, we took Madison to the park, and she had a BLAST! She even made herself a little friend. We couldn't stay long, because it was getting chilly out, but it was so nice while it lasted. Lewis (finally) went to sleep and slept the whole time we were at the park.

When we left the playground, we had such a hard time packing up the stroller! We couldn't get the thing to fold up! I tried, my mom tried, and finally my sister tried and she knew how to do it... it was so funny it took us about 20 minutes just to leave the parking lot! Someone should have been video taping us! haha! ...needless to say, we need to practice folding/unfolding the stroller!

One throws tantrums and the other makes it worse because he can not stand the noise. So he tries to stop the crying in his own way, which doesn't help and makes the baby angrier. So the crying gets worse. And then they are both crying and I am sitting on the floor with them wondering if I am doing something wrong. 😢 Moments like that just hurt my soul. So yeah while I could be all "hey so like there is a blog post up that is new!" *which there is and on glamorousandgeeky.com 😉* and talk about this sweater I am wearing, I felt it was more important to share a bit of motherhood that people sometimes do not like to share. Only sharing the picture perfect mom life...and well that is not me. Blogging Mom now!

So weird, when I started this blog I was young, single (not married), and childless. Now I’m old(er)--32, married, with one child and one on the way (still in early 1st trimester)...

My aspirations/dreams have changed from when I was younger to now. When I was younger, I always dreamed of being famous/being a singer, and then during my college years, my realization of wanting to be a teacher came into fruition. Now, my number one priority is my family and my child(children/future kids!)...

I used to worry about what people think of me and what I looked like (to a certain degree, I still do, I don’t wanna look like a total mess but will look like, but I will be lookin’ like a mess anyways!)

Things that interest me are:

- how to keep my marriage/relationship with Richard still interesting and that we’re still caring and support each other...somedays we can have an argument that will just frustrate me and wonder if this is how marriage will just look like after kids. To have a strong, committed, loving, kind, and supportive relationship is what I strive for. Marriage to is hard cuz you share literally everything about yourself (physical, spirit, financial woes/strength, and emotional wellbeing) and you have to be willing to be vulnerable and honest in everything! Some days it’s hard to be loving, but my goal is always to strive to love Richard to the fullest and put God first in our relationship.

- how to entertain Claire, help her learn, socially aware/capable, and be a kind/respectful kid. It’s a balance and honestly terrible twos have been happening since she was 18 months. I am learning to be more patient with her--and with myself as I am a First-Time Mom (FTM) and trying to be more gracious I make mistakes along the way. Trying to be the best mom I can be to her (and our future children)...is hard and there are days when I yell at her and discipline her and I feel bad. But at the same time, I don’t want her to become an entitled kid who never gets disciplined or yelled at. We’re still working on potty training...and as for preschool--I think we decided she will not be going to preschool...and she might be homeschooled in the future! A lot of people I know might be like--what? You’re a teacher! How could you deny her of public education?! But I have seen the fruits of a homeschool kid and they are just sociable and educated, if not even more! And they are kind, respectful, and adventurous. My ex-next door neighbor kids were all homeschooled and they read chapter books in 1st grade, loves Jesus, and are friendly to all their neighbors (of all ages, races, gender, etc.) Sure, they weren’t perfect! No kids are perfect. But I like the freedom of choosing the curriculum and also the freedom of vacationing on our schedule and not on the school’s schedule. This won’t be for another 3 years or so (Kindergarten), but for now, she’s learning her colors and shapes, and she knows her alphabet song (doesn’t know letters yet!)...She knows and sings a lot of nursery rhymes right now (due to Youtube, not going to lie, which she gets to watch when we eat meals sometimes/often)!

- have time for friends...mostly have mommy friends right now, but I try to keep in touch with my friends in SFL, pre-Claire, etc...and it’s hard because I feel like no one understands that nap times are sacred, and so are bed times... :( Also, I didn’t drink many times or a lot because of nursing (which I feel like I was ostracized for because I nursed Claire until she was 2 years old).

- relationship with God/Jesus...I feel like I’ve been putting God in the back burner because I’m so tired from work, taking care of Claire (and Luna), and doing housework (which I don’t even do all--Richard does a majority of it...I just wash dishes and do laundry--which I am starting to hate!)...I’m feeling burnt out. I miss worshipping and miss fellowshipping with my sisters and brothers in Christ, to be honest. I desire the feeling of community as we did pre-Claire (sad to state it like that)...It’s hard with her bed time schedule (dinner at 7/bath time at 7:30/8, bedtime at 8:30pm)...So no time for CLS or households. I try to sing worship songs in the car whenever I drive to work (30 mins to Vista and back on Mondays & Fridays, and 35 mins to Temecula and back on Thursdays). I’m praying I can really get back to service/and or fellowshipping again.

- work like I said is not my #1 priority as it was pre-Claire! When you have a child, everything changes! FYI, if you didn’t know. It sucks sometimes to know she’s having a hard day and crying with her babysitter (Richard’s aunt) for hours, and you’re stuck at work. It sucks to know you’re missing her learning moments. I am currently working 3 days a week. As much as I like my co-workers, and I do love teaching students, I would prefer 100% to be with Claire instead, if I had the option. I know not everyone wants to stay at home. I’m not even a GOOD stay-at-home mom by any standards--I’m not a home maker and not a good cook, and don’t clean well. But when it comes to Claire, I want to be there for her through her childhood years. So if that means working part-time til she’s in high school, so be it. It’s hard to lesson plan, when you’d rather spend quality time with your toddler.

Enough of my ramblings. I am hoping to write here more often to just share my thoughts and feelings!

“I Prefer The Blank Cards”

I would say i’m a writer, but maybe not in the conventional sense... I didn’t go to college to be a journalist, I”m not a published Author and I did not obtain any College degree that would indicate I am a writer. But I am one. I am a writer at heart. I have written, and written, and written some more throughout my life for one reason or another. Sometimes journaling, sometimes book ideas and sometimes in letters or cards to others. I’m definitely known as the writer in my family. Every birthday or Christmas card has an entire paragraph in it. I prefer the blank cards. So, This is a space for me to call my own. A place for me to be as expressive, emotional, and combative as I please. I am also an arguer. I simply cannot help it. It’s part of me. The title of my Blog definitely sums me up in a nutshell. “The honest art of venting.” I am a *venter* So buckle up, and get ready... This is gonna be a bumpy ride. I researched catchy ways to introduce a blog... But catchy isn’t always me. Mainly i’m either OCD organized or an entire, complete mess. Either way, this is me.
