Rahu & Ketu: The Mystery of Being
TW: abuse, rape, murder, abduction, childhood trauma, violence
The more I study Nodal energy, the more I realise how truly hard it is to remain within its influence, it escapes your grip or eludes you so easily and I think even Nodal natives feel this way, its really hard to have a stable/consistent self image or strong identity because with Rahu you are sooo many different things and your energy is dispersed completely (Rahu being the "head") and with Ketu, you're in the dark completely so you feel unable to identify with anything permanently i.e you outgrow things quickly (Ketu being the "body"). Both Rahu & Ketu are malefics and generally considered to be inauspicious but please don't be discouraged!!
The reason why they're considered inauspicious is because Rahu creates excessive immersion in the material realm as these natives are always looking out of themselves/seeking external things to centre themselves around. Since they're stuck in the head (literally) they're unable to be grounded or tethered. This causes overindulgence and gluttony. They might seem greedy on the outside but truly this is driven by their boundary-less nature where they literally do not know when to stop, nothing feels "enough" for them, they never feel "full". Since they're so vastly spacious internally, they can accommodate a lot, this makes them very tolerant and accepting of virtually every one and every kind of experience. But this internal spaciousness also means that they feel empty, just because its hard to "fill up" all that space and feel "fulfilled". This causes them to overexert themselves and go above & beyond. They do this just because they can. This is why they're such obsessive lovers. They have so much space, so much to hold, they need a great deal of stimulation just to feel normal. In social settings they may come across as very hyper, very loud, very extra, always doing the most, eager to please everyone (its similar but different to Jupiter energy). This over-attachment to the physical or sensorial realm means that its hard for them to transcend beyond it to attain true spiritual liberation. They can never fully let go because its very scary to be cut off that way. Its like floating in space, nothing to hold on to, no gravity, nothing to fall on, you can't stay still, its all very disorienting.
The reason Ketu is considered inauspicious is because it causes extreme detachment from everything. These natives don't have a strong sense of self, they feel themselves dissolve almost and they're always wandering in search of something to connect to. This complete lack of attachment to anything material or concrete means that these natives lack grounding. In order to care about something you have to be firmly rooted in reality and Ketuvians struggle with this because they're never fully here. They may intellectually understand or support social causes but its a torso without a head, which means they dont have the energy to be committed to sustaining interest in anything. They're the type of people who go through a lot of different "phases". One can only transcend if one is connected to life in the first place, these natives aren't. It DOES make spiritual understanding easier and Ketu is considered one of the most spiritual planets but it is difficult to be rooted or grounded in this or be disciplined about it because like I said Ketu is detached. They inherently understand certain spiritual truths but its very rare (unless other positive placements are present) for these natives to fully immerse themselves in spiritual pursuits.
Tumblr media
(table by me😎hehe)
Its very interesting to me that none of the Nodal naks have the purushartha ("motivation") of Moksha (liberation). All 6 naks are evenly split between Artha, Kama & Dharma.
This again points to how even though Nodal influence helps one grasp spiritual concepts better and naturally embody certain spiritual truths, these natives are not motivated by it.
But often what happens is that these natives are unable to enjoy or benefit from their successes. Their lives are full of ups and downs. The shadowy nature of the planets and the fact that the lack of physical existence of these planets creates a very "boundary less" energy that makes them susceptible to every kind of influence, good and bad.
Pierce Brosnan- Ardra Moon
Pierce Brosnan’s hardships pretty much started at the very beginning. Born into a poor family in rural Ireland, he was swiftly abandoned by his father, who he would only go on to meet once. His mother was forced to send him to live with his grandparents while she worked as a nurse in England, then his aunt and uncle, and then onto a boarding house. His mother visited twice a year until he could move to England at age 11, at which point he became the focus of school bullies.
In 1980, Brosnan married Cassandra Harris and adopted the 3 children of her late-husband, adding one more to the mix for good measure. But in 1991, Cassandra died in his arms after a 4 year battle with ovarian cancer, which would later go on to take the life of their 41 year old daughter Charlotte in 2013. By then, he had become estranged from his son Chris, who had a major drug problem resulting in fights, thefts, and 2 drunk-driving crashes in 2 years. The crashes may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back, as Brosnan had already narrowly avoided losing his son Sean at 13, after Sean’s cousin drunkenly drove off a 200-foot cliff. In 2015, the $18-million Malibu home he lived in caught fire and sustained $1 million in damages.
Kelsey Grammar, Shatabhisha Sun, Mars in Ashwini, Ketu in Ardra
Kelsey Grammer’s troubles started early in life, with his parents splitting up when he was just two years old. His mother’s parents took them in, and helped raise Kelsey until he was 12, when his grandfather died of cancer. The following year, his father was murdered by a home intruder who had started a fire, all in front of his new family.
Then in 1975, Grammer’s 18 year old sister Karen was abducted, raped, and murdered by four men who left her for dead. Sadly, Karen had enough strength to make it to a nearby house, where bloody handprints revealed she was attempting to ring the door. The house was empty. Kelsey identified his sister’s body one week later. 2 years later, both of his half-brothers died in a scuba diving accident.
Shockingly, Grammer has appeared at the parole hearings of the last remaining member of the gang who killed his sister. In 2014, he spoke directly to the killer at the hearing, stating “You could not have come to a better person in the world than me to advocate for someone who has made some bad choices. I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement. To give that a blessing would be a betrayal of my sister’s life.
Nicki Minaj- Mula Stellium (Mercury, Venus & Ketu)
Throughout her childhood, Minaj had to contend with her abusive, drug-addicted father, who would regularly beat her mother, punch holes in the walls, get arrested, and sell their possessions for drug money. At one point, he attempted to kill her mother by lighting the house on fire. Despite all this, the pair are still together, and Dad apparently isn’t too happy when she tells that story. To this, she says “It’s the price you pay when you abuse drugs and alcohol. Maybe one day your daughter will be famous and talk to every magazine about it, so think about that, dads out there who want to be crazy.” Nicki is currently married to a paedophile and convicted rapist so there's that as well.
Terrence Howard, Mula Moon, Ashwini Venus conjunct Saturn
Terrence Howard suffered physical abuse not only at the hands of his father, but his mother as well. When he was two, he witnessed his father stab a man to death, for which he was convicted of manslaughter. His mother raised him until his father was released, at which point they divorced, and he was sent to live with his grandparents. At age 16, Howard had himself legally emancipated, moved to New York, and lived off welfare while he tried to make it as an actor. While that was undoubtedly one of the hardest decisions he will ever make, it seems it was the right one.
Jennifer Hudson, Shatabhisha Moon
In 2008, Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donnerson (57) and her brother, Jason (29) were shot to death by her estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour. Hudson's nephew, Julian (7), was reported missing, but found three days later dead of multiple gunshot wounds.
Roy Orbison, Ashwini Sun, Jupiter in Mula & Ketu in Ardra
In 1966, Roy Orbison's wife, Claudette Frady, was killed when the couple were riding motorcycles. She was hit by a semi truck and killed instantly. Just two years later, Orbison's house burned down, killing two of his three sons. In 1973, his older brother, Grady, was killed in an auto accident while traveling to spend thanksgiving with Orbison.
Shania Twain, Magha Sun, Mars in Swati She was born into poverty with five siblings in rural Canada. Throughout her childhood, she endured and witnessed abuse to her mother from her stepfather, who lived with the family. Aside from the abuse, her family often didn't have money to have food for lunch or shoes for the winter. Even more tragic, her parents were killed in a car accident when she was 22 years old, and Twain began singing gigs to provide for her siblings. She told Oprah Winfrey in a sit-down interview, "Coming from where I came from, it was unimaginable to ever be wealthy. That was just too far out of my reach." She then went on to become one of the best selling female pop and country artists of all time.
Ashley Judd, Ashwini Sun & Mercury, Magha Jupiter & Ascendant
This actress comes from a famous family, with both her mother and half-sister being country music artists. Judd’s parents divorced when she was four, and she moved all around the southern United States while her mother sought success, attending over a dozen schools. Judd is the survivor of three sexual assaults, and one of these awful instances resulted in an unwanted pregnancy, which Judd terminated. The harmful treatment didn’t stop there. Judd alleges that she was also sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein, whom she later sued.
Christina Aguilera, Mula Sun
Christina’s father Fausto worked for the US Army, meaning that the family moved around a lot, even going as far as Japan. On top of this lack of stability, her father emotionally and physically abused her. Her parents divorced when Aguilera was six, and she subsequently became estranged from her father. Aguilera used music to escape her turbulent home life, and her talent was obvious from a young age. This talent took her far, and she is now one of the highest-selling artists in the history of music.
Tumblr media
Reza Pahlavi and his wife, Princess Soraya, Ardra Stellium (sun, mercury & venus)
Soraya was his favourite wife and supposedly his "true love", but since she was infertile and he had no sons from his other marriage, he had to divorce her to marry another woman, Farah Pahlavi, Ardra Moon, Magha Rising (who did end up giving him 2 sons out of 4 children). Soraya lived in Paris following their divorce and did fall in love again but she did not live a very happy life (her partner died in a plane crash). Farah Pahlavi's reign as Queen was cut short by the Iranian revolution following which both Reza & Farah were exiled from their own country, they lived in many places, Reza passed away 2 years into exile and Farah has since lived in obscurity in the United States. 2 out of her 4 children committed suicide and it is widely assumed that the family has gone broke.
Tragedy can happen to anyone and no nakshatra or planet will protect or prevent it but Rahu influence creates sudden gains and losses. What is quickly gained is also quickly lost. This is why Rahu is deeply connected to entertainment because not only is the entertainment industry entirely illusory, it also does not guarantee anything. You're a glorified freelancer basically. If you're not wise, you can lose everything in minutes. There is so much temptation all around you, you're surrounded by so many false promises and its very easy to lose yourself in all of it. We often see celebrities and idolize their easy lives but very very very few get to be stars their whole lives and live lives of convenience and comfort. For 90& of people its a very scary, tragic, difficult experience of immense highs and lows.
Nodal success feels dissatisfactory because Nodal people are unable to ground themselves in anything solid (unless other aspects that can do this are present) its very very easy for them to lose themselves in Maya or to be so completely detached that they do the necessary "maintenance" work that it takes to be a fully involved human being in anything.
Many say that the reason Farah Pahlavi's life was so tragic was because she took Princess Soraya's rightful place and Soraya's sadness had "cursed" Reza & Farah's marriage. that's stuff of urban myth but don't you think its interesting that a woman who wasn't of noble birth, rose to the ranks of Queen at the age of 21, lived a life of luxury very few can even conceive of and produced 2 male heirs!! which is all that the King wanted🙄🙄but ultimately none of it mattered? Reza having an "heir" made no difference because the Iranian Revolution overthrew the monarchy, they had to leave their palace, their luxuries, their maids and servants and every kind of comfort behind to live like nobodies in exile. They watched their treasury grow smaller and smaller year after year and obviously, no one was used to "working" so nobody got a job to take care of themselves or the others (I mean Farah and her 4 kids btw). They can never go back to their homeland or regain what was once lost. They're in a position that very few (other exiled royals) can relate to. They are socially and culturally isolated. All of these are Nodal themes.
Another Princess with nodal placements and a similarly tragic life is Princess Diana, Ardra Sun & Mercury with Moon conjunct Ketu
Tumblr media
There are many royals who've lived more moderate lives or less tragic lives. Having it all and losing it all is a very Nodal theme.
It reminds me of SUGA's Interlude by Halsey (Swati stellium) where she sings:
I been trying all my life To separate the time In between the having it all And giving it up, yeah (Hey) I wonder what's in store If I don't love it anymore (Hey) Step between the having it all And giving it up, yeah (Hey)
Success is a very illusory experience for these natives. Its like trying to build sandcastles on the shore. I am by no means suggesting that Nodal people can't be successful, just that if they depend on "success" to give their life meaning, they're setting themselves up for failure. You ruin anything you singlehandedly obsess over, its important to know when to stop, when to withdraw.
These natives tend to go to extremes just to feel something
Tumblr media
Zayn Malik- Shatabhisha Rising and Gigi Hadid- Ashwini Sun & Rising
idk anything about their sex life together but if we're to go by the songs then its 👀 giving bdsm
After that horrendous Revati video that Claire did years ago (and has deleted since I think) people associate BDSM, sexual deviancy and all around freakish behaviour with Revatis but you know who is actually crazy in bed? Nodal people
pornography impacts the brain much like an addictive drug by triggering ever-increasing amounts of dopamine. Over time, the brain builds up a tolerance to the excess dopamine and requires either more access or more extreme content (or sometimes both) to achieve that same level of perceived pleasure. In short, when viewing pornography, your brain gets less pleasure while wanting more, often causing desensitization and an escalation in behavior.
Kanye West, Venus & Mars in Ashwini
Kanye West's first encounter with sexual desire came during early childhood, fueling a dependency on sex that would set in during adulthood. “My dad had a Playboy left out at age 5 and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life," West told Elle in 2019. "From age 5 till now, having to kick the habit and it just presents itself in the open like it's OK and I stand up and say, ‘No, it's not OK.’” The singer also credited his faith in God with helping him overcome his struggles. James Franco, Ashwini Sun
Actor James Franco developed an addiction to sex while he was recovering from an addiction to alcohol. On The Jess Cagle Podcast, he admitted to sleeping with students who were attending an acting school he previously ran. “It’s such a powerful drug,” he said. “I got hooked on it for 20 more years. The insidious part of that is that I stayed sober from alcohol all that time.” Since 2016, Franco has been in recovery from sex addiction and continues to work towards a healthy lifestyle.
Billie Eilish, Mula Stellium (Sun, mercury & ketu)
Billie Eilish went through her own struggles with pornography addiction after viewing her first pornographic video at only 11 years old. In an interview on The Howard Stern Show, the "Bad Guy" singer said she used to watch porn to feel like "one of the guys," but has since distanced herself from it entirely. "I think it really destroyed my brain and I feel incredibly devastated that I was exposed to so much porn,"
Charlie Sheen, Mula Moon
he is a pretty well known sex addict and sexual assaulter :/
Michael Douglas, Mula Moon
He's been candid about his struggles with alcohol and sex addiction. Michael even went so far as to say that his throat cancer was caused by performing oral sex on so many women.
Every good thing can be "bad" if its used as a coping mechanism and this includes sex.
Ketuvians are like black holes that absorb all the light, they have to suck everything in. They absorb easily but they don't feel rooted in anything beyond a short period of time. many say that Nodal natives have no moral compass or that they're thrill chasers or that they're not "good people" but honestly Nodal energies are just really hard to master. some people turn it into art, or work or something else where they can channel their obsessive energies fully without holding back. compartmentalizing things is hard for these natives so its important to have areas where you can go all out whilst exercising some modicum of boundary or balance in others.
Maladaptive daydreaming is another big struggle for Nodal people. they're also prone to nihilism and cynicism because they can't enjoy life in the same way as they need a lot of stimulation (they're desensitized to ordinary levels of stimulation of any kind). This means they struggle to find meaning in life. Apathy is their natural state of being. Its just hard to care because in order to care you have to be firmly rooted which Nodal people are not.
Tumblr media
This is a quote by Werner Herzog, Ardra Moon who is a filmmaker known for his nihilism and scepticism.
Tumblr media
Dos Passos did not have any major placements in any Nodal naks save for his Mars in Mula and Rahu in Shatabhisha but I thought his quote by him really explained things
The real danger of Nodal influence is the indifference and apathy that its natives experience. But Nodal influence is such that you have no place in reality, you exist in the shadows, you live behind the curtain, when your whole life is one long tunnel its hard to "care" or be immersed enough to fully take in their feelings. Nodal natives experience emotional impermanence which means that if you do not actively see proof of or feel a particular emotion, you believe it does not exist. they have to consistently see "proof" of your love for them to believe you. they seldom believe that the feelings others have for them are "real". they think they are the only constant in their life.
its hard for these natives to be passive and consume something without interacting with it. Moon dominants thrive in passivity whereas Rahuvians need to become one with that thing to truly experience it. Ketu also craves this sort of complete union but its different since Ketu pulls you into themselves whereas Rahu wants to pull themselves into you.
Nodal influence creates natives with a very nebulous self-perception and identity. They do not know who they are, they are a mystery even to themselves. Do you ever talk to a guy and think that he has no personality because its hard for him to list favourites or describe what he likes or dislikes etc? He probably has Ketuvian influence. Ketu people try on new aesthetics/personalities like its a makeover game, for a couple of months they'll have a hippie phase, now they're emo, later they're into retro glam or whatever. they like to try on different personas to see which one they like the best, i know this sounds kind of creepy?? but its truly because Ketu natives lack identity and rely on external things to give them a sense of self. This is why they're very uninvolved in the lives of others. They cannot give themselves too much because they dont know enough about themselves to "give" to others.
In vedic mythology, at the beginning of time when the devas and asuras churned the ocean of milk to extract from it the amrita (the elixir of immortality) Mohini, the female avatar of Vishnu, started distributing amrita to the devas. However, one of the asuras, Svarbhanu, sat in the row of devas and drank the amrita. Surya and Chandra noticed him and they informed Mohini; however, by that time, Svarbhanu had already become immortal. Vishnu, as Mohini, cut off Svarbhanu's head with his discus. Svarbhanu, henceforth referred to as Rahu and Ketu, could not die, but his head was separated from his body; his head came to be known as Rahu, while his body came to be known as Ketu.
Pertaining to this origin story, I have noticed how people with Nodal influence seldom benefit from "nourishing energy". This could mean they were neglected as children, lacked a good family environment, were abused or taken advantage of by others in their life (all of this is also subject to other placements in ones chart). Svarbhanu was a demon who temporarily became immortal because of a mistake. Like I mentioned with fame and success before, these natives struggle to "maintain" what they achieve, especially because their early lives were marked with deprivation of some sort. This could also mean absent parent figures. But there is a sense of "you shouldn't have been where you were".
Rahu energy manifests often as a very manic hyperactive energy
youtube
Ranveer Singh is the best example I could think of. He is known in the media for being an eccentric, hyperactive, loud cokehead lmao
He has Ardra Sun, Shatabhisha Moon
Ketu energy is more detached, more reserved, still weird and chaotic but overall less "hyper"
youtube
This interview with Lady Gaga is a good example, usually the people being interviewed are walking or moving around and trying to pretend its not scripted but she just sat there for the whole thing lol
Gaga has both Rahu & Ketu influence
She has Rahu in Ashwini in 1h as well as Swati Moon conjunct Ketu
i know i said last time ill make a post about the positive manifestations of nodal influence but its gonna have to wait a little longer 😬😬these are just some things i observed and i thought i should share them. hope this was informative.

The Inconsistency of Nezha's Age, a Short Introduction.
Put very bluntly, Nezha’s age varies greatly depending on which story you’re reading and who’s retold it. He is not always a child or an adult depending on retelling, though my intention here is to highlight the sheer variety available first and foremost - and perhaps shine a light on the Indian dieties which may have influenced him. If these varied images are unwanted, please keep scrolling.
Tumblr media
I happened to stumble upon a timeline error where Nezha’s brother Muzha is described to be using martial arts weapons referred to as “Hooks of Wu” which were specific to the 1800s, quite a long time after Canonization of the Gods was published, but also originating from a time period where numerous varied editions of that story were in circulation. Upwards of twenty different versions exclusive to the 19th century, actually.
The problem arises that Canonization of the Gods is meant to be occurring during the Zhou Shang conflict, that I will generously assume to be in 1045BCE, centuries before the Hooks of Wu would actually exist. It’s completely possible that the version Gu Zhizhong translated was one of these later editions as is makes no chronological sense for Muzha to have those kinds of weapons to begin with. So I have been on somewhat of a rabbit chase trying to pin down the edition Gu Zhizhong used.
Bearing such errors in mind, it’s easy to see where the confusion of Nezha’s age can come from. Before his origin story was integrated within Canonization of the Gods he would be roughly three to seven days old when his conflict with Ao Guang and the Lady Rock Demoness would occur - whereas within Canonization of the Gods he’s actually 6 or 7 years old.
Outside of that, a definitive age isn’t actually provided. Genuinely, within the scope of Chinese folklore and mythos it’s very rare to assign someone an exact age - which I do believe contributed heavily to the known discourse surrounding Nezha’s age to begin with.
He was imported as an adult from India, a child form not seeming to exist for a while until stories of Krsna were integrated to how the Chinese envisioned Nalakubara. Krsna, being an infantile disguise for the notorious Vishnu, also displays supernatural human strength and is actually successful in killing his father figure (1) — unlike Nezha.
As children, both Krsna and Nezha are able to wield heavenly bows and subjugate water spirits (2) while also being known to be dragon tamers (3). The inclusion of these stories to Nezha predates the sculpting of the Quanzhou Pagoda’s (which have been discussed briefly here) and are arguably the earliest evidence of Nezha being a dragon tamer.
Speculatively a child god combination of both Nalakubara and Krsna named Nana is likely where a majority of Nezha’s child attributes come from, based in the Scripture of the Supreme Secrets of Nana Deva - which would see translations within China during the Northern Song period of 960AD-1127AD. Nana would be described thus:
At that time there was a Deva called Nana. His appearance was exceptionally handsome, and his face beamed with a gentle smile. He was holding the sun, the moon, and various weapons. His numerous treasures and abundant jewelry shone more brightly than the sun and the moon. He made himself a luoye robe (4) from the dragons Nanda and Upananda, and a belt from the dragon Taksaka (5). He possessed the same strength as Narayana (i.e. Visnu). He too came to the assembly and sat down facing the Buddha … At that time the Buddha emanated great light from his dharma body of meditation. The light covered the entire Buddha Universe, reaching all the great evil yaksas, the various types of raksasas and pisacas (6) and all the evil dragons as far as the heavenly constellations. When the Buddhas light shone upon them they all awoke to the truth. The Buddhas light returned to him and, after encircling him three times, entered his head. It then reissued in seven colors from his brow, entering Nana-Deva’s head. When the Buddha light penetrated his head, Nana Deva displayed an enormous body like Mt. Sumeru. His facial expression alternated between terrifying anger and a broad smile. He had a thousand arms, and he was holding a skull (7) and numerous weapons. He was handsomely adorned with a tiger skin robe and skulls. [Mightily Strong] He emanated blazing light and terrifying strength. When Nana Deva displayed this divine body, the great earth shook, and all who beheld him were terrified.
Both Nana and Nezha share the same residence of Vaisravana’s palace, are known dragon tamers, and both were known to use belts. The Supreme Secrets of Nana Deva predate all known connections between Nezha and dragons, perhaps lending to Nezha many more elements than initially believed.
Though without concrete evidence stating one way or another, I can only present this information speculatively - especially as it seems difficult for some to understand that Nezha does enjoy a known adult and child form. This answer has already become quite long, so if there’s still confusion regarding this please feel free to ask for more details.

Seraphim Eye Practice + Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I made these well before the official episode came out so these are older designs)
These are the eyes that I have finished and I’m proud to share with the world. I have given the seraphim names and some head canons to go with them. I also aged up all of the seraphim outside of S-Snake because I love how baby she is.
S-Hawk is actually one of two. I don’t know how I got it into my head, but I liked the idea of Mihawk having twin seraphim. They came about like regular twins, but if they were tube babies.
They are both called S-Hawk and they were separated when they were very young. Both are overprotective of each other because of being separated. The one you see at the very top is Crowley and the one at the very bottom is Montoya. Inigo Montoya and Crowly. Both of the twins eyes were replaced with robotic ones. They can even change color! Blue for Docile, Yellow for Alert, and Red/Pink for Danger. There is also Green, but none of the Punks know why they turn green since they rarely flash green. 👀
Crowley has the cloned devil fruit; but Montoya, on the other hand, ate an actual devil fruit. I call it the Fuse-Fuse fruit! It is a paramecia type that can fuse two or more things together. Both organic and inorganic materials can be fused. He typically fuses with S-Gecko. Montoya and S-Gecko were placed together while Crowly was placed with S-Crocodile and S-Catapiller. Crowley doesn’t use a sword, instead he uses a guitar that doubles as both a gun and a battle ax. It is the turducken of weapons. I kept their eyes similar to their original design (manga) since that’s what I stared with. Not much to talk about. But both of their wings are like that of a crow and not a hawk. The Punks don’t have a lot of knowledge on bird wings apparently 🤷 Crowley has tons of piercings I just didn’t add/you can’t see any of them. He is very much punk rock vs. Montoya who is very elegant vintage.
I’ve been calling S-Crocodile Dharma. Dharma Al Dini. I had a different name that started with a D for Dharma but I forgot to write it down so I had to change it. After watching a play through of Venba, I got the idea of Crocodile being able to speak Tamil and eating Indian food and that’s how Dharma came to be. Dharma knows how to speak Tamil and how to cook. I also gave him an Italian last name because of the whole mafia theme Crocodile’s got going on.
I had an outline of S-Crocodile way before it was revealed and what I have written down is so far off from the original that when I look at the seraphim I’m like, “Why are you so different?” And then I remember that when I first met these characters we only knew S-Hawk, Snake, Shark, and Bear and we didn’t even know if they were conscious. Dharma is very soft spoken and is very muted compared to Crocodile. Crocodile exudes confidence and superiority. Dharma is a very gentle presence and, while confident, lacks the same authority and charisma his prime does. (I’m calling the OGs Primes so I don’t have to constantly write out their names).
I made his eyes a star bursts with light coming out of them. Kinda like a start shooting light. I changed his eyes to be more of a warm honey color than Crocodile’s harsh gold (before Toei decided to change Crocodile’s eye color for no reason). I really wanted to show the difference in their personality in an obvious way. I also gave him makeup around his eyes because I thought his face looked to bare and it became a theme for nearly all the seraphim. I made Dharma’s wings that of a sparrow’s due to that one cover story, also his wings are closer to his hips than his shoulders. His aesthetic is a casual glam. He look effortless and like an average guy, but also extremely expensive.
S-Snake is a very curious child. She is very sweet, adventurous, self-assured, and bossy. She is trusting to a fault that her older brothers are over protective of her. I have named her Yumi. Yumi Stone. She and the others discovered that her devil fruit doesn’t require that they actually look at her, in fact, you don’t even need to see her for her devil fruit to work. The only qualification is that there is love. She can petrify the other seraphim because they love her and each other. She has used her powers on couples and parents to try and test how far her powers can go. Her powers also have some healing properties to it. She is interning under S-Gecko to become a doctor (This is due to trauma which I will get to maybe never).
Okay, to start off, I love how cute I made her!!!! Look at her, look at my baby! She is the definition of adorable. Her eyes were the most fun and, shockingly, the easiest to come up with because I had the idea of making each of the seraphim have unique eyes (by the time I hit S-Flamingo I had officially run out of ideas and just said fuck it close enough). I made her eyes a light purple because I thought it would break up all the warm colored eyes I was doing. I added the rings and the mini-stars because I loved the idea of her having like a sorta planetary eye. I nearly did the rings for Dharma and S-Gecko, but I scrapped the idea because it was not working. I gave her some small eye liner because all of the others had some form of make up. I didn’t want it to be to extreme and wanted to keep it simple for her and it ended up in her eyes looking more owlish and it’s just—mwuah!❤️ Not on purpose but I fell in love with it. That small little thing has also made me head canon that her wings are like an owls. Her eyes are easily my favorite over all. Yumi doesn’t have any specific aesthetics, she just wears whatever she thinks is cute or what her brothers pick out for her. She can really be any of the boys aesthetics when she wants to be. Like one day she can have a biker jacket on and the next she’s wearing a gardener outfit.
Next Batch! And I won’t be starting with S-Caterpillar, I’m saving him for last 😉
S-Gecko’s name is Frankenstein. At this point you can already tell the second theme that I picked out for the seraphim is that they are all of their names are based off of different fictional characters because I like to think that they choose their names from their favorite characters!
Frankenstein was also the first one to be created. We literally do not know how long he was a warlord for, but we do know that he lost a shit ton of blood to Kaido way back when! I like to believe that Gecko Moria was the entire reason the seraphim program exists because waaaaayy too many people forget that in his prime he was an actual candidate for becoming an emperor/the pirate king.
Frankenstein (just Frank or Stein depending on whose talking to him) is very similar, yet extremely different from his prime. • Similarities include : both work with the dead, are tacticians, and are very heavy sleepers. Stein is a workaholic and the other seraphim rarely, if ever, see him since he mainly stays in his room. He is very abrasive and is regularly seen wearing a scowl, but he also has a wicked sense of humor that you don’t get to hear often and is even funnier because you don’t expect it. He is an actual certified doctor which is important to know because he is the other seraphim’s primary doctor, but his day job is to work as a mortician. Despite his job as a mortician, he’s very delicate with the bodies. He has never attempted to raise the dead like his prime. He has never held any shame or disgust towards a body. He will do small things that seem illogical to some, but he was always superstitious type. He will sing lullabies to dead and gently push hair out of their faces. He will recount his day like he was talking to an old friend or a patient. Stein is a religious person in a loose sense. He won’t pray to any god and swears like a sailor but he won’t go out of his way to actively piss off a spirit. Stein is Montya’s best friend. In my head their relationship changed from two people that knew each other in passing to closer than anything. Montya developed some pretty serious separation anxiety after he was separated from Crowly. Once he was placed with Stein he just clung onto him and never let go. Stein, despite being very much a loner and not really a people person, let him cling to him. When Montya’s eyes were replaced with robotic ones and were malfunctioning, he used his devil fruit to create a sort of cooling agent to stop them from overheating. They had small little moments like these that built up over the years in captivity that made them inseparable…literally. After Montya ate his devil fruit he was forced to go under a series of experiments to test the limits of his devil fruit. One where they used Stein as a “motivator”. After one world government agent took it too far, in a panic, Montya fused himself and Stein together. It took several weeks to get them to unfuse forcing the WG to drop the experiment altogether. The two of them still fuse from time to time just to feel close. Frankenstein is the only person Montya has ever fused with. Not even Crowley.
Stein’s pupils are actually two different colors! They are two, three way triangles. I originally tried making his eyes like an atoms but I scrapped that idea. His wings are similar to an albatross. He also looks like Moria at his prime. Also I do realize that I gave him eyebrows even though he doesn’t have any, but they looked too good to discard. His aesthetic is yeehaw goth (Mihawk better watch out cause he’s side eyeing your territory). It is polarizing to see him and Montoya together because of how different their personalities are but still are best friends, yet him and Crowly absolutely hate each other with a burning passion and only really tolerate each other when Montoya is around. The second he turns around they are already throwing down and throttling each other into the stratosphere.
S-Flamingo. Better known as Donquixote Sancho. He is the very antithesis of Doflamingo. Not in a “they look exactly the same but we are totally different” but in a “Everything I do, I do to spite you” kinda way. Sancho is a priest and is respectful to literally everyone but the people in power. He lives modestly and refuses to live outside of the bare necessities. He refuses to use Doflamingo’s devil fruit and doesn’t even see it as his own power. He uses a god damn sword that is made out of seastone all the way through just because he doesn’t want to use Doflamingo’s devil fruit. Sancho loathes Doflamingo with such a passion that he takes everything he knows about him and flips it on its head just so he can avoid being reminded that he’s technically his son (brother. Him-Something?). Doflamingo has short hair? He grows his out. Doflamingo has an atrocious, outrageous sense of style? Wears nice, plain clothing. You can see where this is going. The only reason I gave him sunglasses was because I didn’t think he looked like Doffy enough without them. Each of the seraphim are supposed to be recognizable despite not even having the same color palette as their primes so just ignore the sunglasses (now that I’m looking at the photo again I realize that I forgot to give him makeup). His wings are similar to a swans.
Now is the little bastard’s turn. S-Caterpillar.
Or better known by the others as Godbrand Puck.
Now let’s get one this straight about Godbrand. He is almost exactly like Buggy. In fact the world government would consider him their first perfect, and only, total success. He emulates Buggy to a T. He is loud, eccentric, and all around flashy. Normally the world government would consider this to be a flaw that they can just beat out of him if it wasn’t for one very special factor. He is physically incapable of feeling pain. He isn’t just called Godbrand for shits and giggles. He has been branded with both the Slave brand and the Word Government’s symbol multiple times. Not once did he scream out in pain. In fact he stared giggling the first time it happened. He even fell asleep during one of these “sessions”.
Puck is the only one without green blood because when Vegapunk was first experimenting he decided to lace the artificial devil fruit with the DNA to make the seraphim automatically born with the devil fruit. This lead to the interesting discovery that due to the nature of Buggy’s devil fruit and the inherent nature of devil fruits permanently changing a users body, Puck’s pain receptors were completely severed. They tested this theory on several other Buggy clones that ended up in total failures because of the Chop-Chop fruits nature to split apart. Some of them were missing limbs or organs, others simply didn’t form correctly like an arm coming out of the head or the eyes were placed on the neck, sometimes there were an extra set of something like a row teeth or more than one head. Because Vegapunk tampered with re-adding the devil fruit into Buggy’s DNA none of his clones came out right leaving only Puck. The Golden Child. A Miracle. The Best out of a series of total and utter failures left with an extremely desirable trait in the World Government’s eyes. A solider who could continue on without being held back by something as trivial as pain. Of course until you realize that “desirable trait” leaves him with the inability to seek treatment. Biting his own fingers off. Swallowing his teeth and chewing on his own tongue till it’s bloodied. Ripping out stitches and IVs. Walking on a infected leg that has completely rotted bellow the knee. After that Vegapunk vowed to never clone another the same way he did Puck. Both too risky and high rate of failure. Even if the clone does survive, their could be some unforeseen complications down the line. With him being unable to feel pain, he feels no fear. Remember when I said he was almost exactly like Buggy? What is Buggy’s most notable traits? He is a complete and utter coward terrified of pain and will do almost anything to avoid it. But Puck? With him unable to feel pain, he feels no reason to fear anything. Why feel fear a fate worse than death when that “fate worse than death” is just feeling pain? That little chip the WG and Vegapunks invented to make them unable to feel anything or disobey orders? That is merely a controlled shock that will make them feel excruciating pain. So with that in mind, can you see where this is going? That little desirable trait that they oh so loved in the beginning has bitten them in the ass because this insufferable little shit doesn’t follow orders unless he wants to. Oh sure he won’t be able to “properly” move for a while but can just use his devil fruit to still make it work. What “fate worse than death” can they make him feel? He can’t even experience something so universal to the human experience that he believes himself to be above it all. He’s better than humanity. He is better than the other seraphim because they are all held down by the temporary emotion known as pain. They are below him because they are held back by something so…unnecessary.
Puck is everything the Buggy pretends to be. Puck is confident, powerful, and better than everyone else. He’s basically God. At least in his own eyes. Puck is a raging narcissist, like clinical textbox definition of a narcissist. He like Buggy, but everything is cranked up to an eleven. If crazy was a kind of clock, Buggy would be a single full rotation. Luffy would be like twenty full rotations and then clockwise and then back again on the perfect level of fun crazy and absolute Eldrich abomination. PUCK would be the exact opposite of Luffy landing on the worst amount of self import delusional asshole. He thinks himself a God with the power to back it up. His blood is that of the seraphim, a species that was once considered godlike, and Buggy, an emperor of the sea. He is the nepotism of blood. He is every last one of Buggy’s WORST possible traits. He is a narcissist, psychopathic, asshole. None of the other seraphim like him or understand him. And he doesn’t like or understand them. Worst of all, he is just as much of charismatic genius as his prime.
This brat has the critically thinking skills as Crocodile mixed with Buggy’s chemical expertise and Shank’s level of haki control. On my first post, you can see Puck with four wings. Because Buggy’s devil fruit already allows him to fly, he uses his wings as living armory. He can separate his feathers to create either daggers or swords depending on the situation. He uses his armament haki to make his feathers as strong as steel. Or he can uses his feathers for recon missions (think Hawks from MHA). He can also use his devil fruit for a variety of other situations. He uses it for espionage and undercover missions. He can cut his hair or limbs to appear taller or shorter. He removes his wings, nose, his own dick and Adam’s apple (if the situation calls for it) to go better under cover. He’s also knowledgeable enough about surgery to perform top and bottom surgery to easily switch between male and female when going under cover. He has entire rooms fill of wigs, makeup, clothing, dyes, jewelry, and other accessories specially for him. All his years undercover has made him an excellent actor. He knows what to say to get them to do what he wants. He knows how to persuade someone. No matter how much the others hate him, they have to admit, he is damn good at what he does.
For his design to most important thing to me was clown. I wanted to nail that performer look without making it too much or too bland. Buggy’s makeup is iconic. I’m like 90% sure Buggy has an egg. So I wanted to nail that Star of the Show look without butting into his territory. Of course I gave him Star first to not alone tie in the whole celestial feel, but it was thematic. I originally wanted to add in a moon since he already has a Star and a Sun but it just wouldn’t turn out how I wanted so first thing I asked myself was, “What is some of the most iconic clown makeup?” Then I remembered. TEARS! You can see a small blue tear on his left eye for 1.)Buggy is a bit of a crybaby and 2.)I didn’t want it to distract from the star too much. For the heart and the spade on the top of his forehead, it ties into playing cards. The heart and the spade are from a childhood drawing of mine where I made a monster using the four suits. Diamond and Club for the eyes. Heart on the forehead. And Spade as the nose. I took that idea and simplified it down to make the forehead not look as big. His eyes are easily my second favorite because we have a lot of warm colored eyes so that made him standout a lot more. His eyes are also the only ones that aren’t totally connected. All of the other seraphim’s eyes are very soft in some kind of way, Frankenstein being somewhat of an exception. All of their eyes are rounded in some kind of way. Dharma has a lot of curves to his eyes. The pointed edges of the twins, Yumi, and Sancho has been rounded off. Hell, even Frankenstein’s eyes have rounded lines in them to make appearance softer. Pucks eyes are completely sharp, there are no soft or rounded edges. Even the smaller stars are very straight and stiff. There is no softness in his eyes. There is nothing soft about Puck. His eyes are radioactive green. They are toxic. They are dangerous. They are tempting. He is the prettiest poison you’ve ever seen. His makeup, his nose, his hair and clothing are all attempts to make him appear softer than he really is. And of course, if you’ve seen my drawing of him, his wings are based off of duck wings. 1.) It’s a pun because Duck>Puck. Pretty self explanatory. And 2.) To make him appear weaker than he really is. You don’t look at a duck and think, “Total Murder Monster Hellbent on Making the World Kneel to Him”
Sorry for the long post. This is the longest I’ve ever written on this website so far and I had a lot I wanted to say before we got any new chapters or episodes that totally debunks any of my theories or lore. Maybe I’ll add on to this post by making the seraphim and their primes interacting with each other for the first time. And I hope you enjoyed! You can ask me questions if you want.

bela please tell me more about dev patel riz ahmed angsty rom com, u cant just leave me hanging at one post
OKAY LISTEN SO BASICALLY RUBY @rhubarbspring PUT OUT THE IDEAS OF A DEV + RIZ ROMCOM THAT COULD EITHER BE A CHEESY DRAMATIC BOLLYWOOD DHARMA PRODUCTIONS TYPE THING, ON PAR WITH MOVIES LIKE KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM ETC, OR AN ANGSTY MOVIE ABOUT LOVERS SEPARATED DURING THE INDIA PAKISTAN SEPARATION.
And then I suggested that because they're both desi british they could have a movie that starts out sickly sweet about two brown south Asian kids who grow up as friends in a town like Birmingham or similar, but then they find that they are into one another as lovers which is an idea that opposes a lot of the ways they grew up with etc. basically my projection of my identity as an Indian British kid in England, but through Riz Ahmed and Dev Patel. And it was the sweet spot between both of Ruby's ideas that makes both of us feel seen as south Asians in Europe.

Zodiac signs and Professions
The present world is extremely different from Vedic civilization, when everything was based on people's Varnashrama-Dharma, which came from their nature and showed itself in both a person's innate character traits and some of his acts, or guna-karma.
Teachers at gurukulas carefully studied their pupils' interests from an early age, preparing them for careers in the three higher varnas of vaishyas, kshatriyas, and brahmins. Shudras, if trained, often learned their trades within the confines of their families.
Being born into a certain family did not automatically make you a member of that varna; rather, as you became older, you had to prove your qualities. In contrast to the so-called caste system, there were four varnas in the Vedic society: brahmins, kshatriyas, vaishyas, and sudras.
Many new professions that are not mentioned in the Vedic treatises have emerged in our time along with the advancement of materialistic science and technology, but the science of jyotish provides the answers for figuring out a person's inclinations because it is based on the energies of the planets, horoscope houses, zodiac signs, and nakshatras.
12 signs of the zodiac are divided into several categories:
1) by gender (male and female);
2) according to mobility (mobile, immobile and dual) and 3) according to the elements (fiery, earthly, airy and watery).
The location of the planets in the signs of a certain category enhances certain energies in human nature and encourages him to engage in certain activities in society, in the outside world - which often becomes the native's profession.
Male and female signs
All odd signs (1, 3, 5, 7, 9,11) are masculine: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius.
The dominant of male signs, that is, when most of the planets or key planets (lagnesh, Sun, Moon) fall into male signs, this makes the native more decisive, active, proactive, inclined to make decisions quickly and be a leader (leader).
In the case of women, this gives a more masculine type of psyche and a masculine model of behavior.
Creates difficulties in personal life.
All even signs (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) have a feminine nature: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces.
With the dominance of female signs, when either most of the planets or key planets (lagnesh, Sun, Moon) fall into female signs, gentleness of character, indecision, and a tendency to follow rather than lead are manifested.
In male charts, this gives either very suave and gentle men, or a creative, dreamy and compassionate nature, or a weakness of character.
Movable, fixed and dual signs
Movable (Cardinal) signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn are Chara-Rashi
Immovable (Fixed) signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius - this is Sthira-Rashi
Dual (Dual, Mutable) signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces are Dvisvabhava-Rashi
Understanding a person's manner of life can be aided by knowledge about the degree of mobility of their indicators (moving, sedentary, harmonious).
A dominating mobile indication makes a person more likely to engage in sports, movement, work in transportation, and travel.
Mobility represents the guna (energy) of action and passion.
The state of being immobile represents conservatism, extreme inertia, and stupidity.
The native becomes nomadic, prone to danger and change, and able to bring in money from far-off regions when all or the majority of the planets are in moveable signs.
Such people typically select a line of work that involves travel, athletics, risk-taking, tenacity, and frequent change.
If the natal chart's planets are distributed primarily or entirely according to fixed signs, then this combination occurs:
Such locals like education and information acquisition.
They frequently obtain owing to long-standing social links and enjoy well-deserved respect in society.
Natives frequently pick pursuits that emphasise stability, consistency, and predictability.
These indicators provide patience and the capacity to carry out everyday tasks in conventional and traditional settings.
When most or all of the planets are in dual signs, the following occurs: These locals frequently have dexterous hands and excel in a variety of artistic mediums.
Additionally, they frequently pursue careers in knowledge-related fields such as accounting, editing, economics, education, law, counselling, psychology, and spirituality.
- where the processing and sharing of information and knowledge is required.
They frequently attempt to multitask since they find it challenging to concentrate on just one thing at a time.
Signs of fire, earth, air and water
The dominance of different elements induces the native to seek refuge in the activity that corresponds to this element.
It is traditionally believed that the element of Water gives birth to brahmins, the element of Fire - kshatriyas, the element of Air - vaishyas and the elements of Earth - shudras. In reality, everything is much more complicated now, because.
all varnas in our era are mixed.
(when many planets are in the signs of Fire - Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) makes the native a revolutionary, a leader, a transformer of ideas, a passionary.
Just as fire transforms other elements, fire people are catalysts for change.
(Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) makes the native a conservative, not prone to change, stable, practical and pragmatic.
These people are good at developing structures and giving shape to ideas.
(Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) makes the native fickle (windy), unstable, intellectual, easy in relationships, easily adapting to circumstances.
They are easy to remember and easy to forget.
Not vindictive.
(Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) makes the native emotional, creative, deep, intuitive, sensitive, inclined to make decisions based on feelings rather than reason.
Professions of the twelve signs of the zodiac
Of course, if each profession were clearly represented by a single zodiac sign, life would be a lot simpler. However, in reality, we must deal with a variety of combinations and identify the main influences of the energies of the signs - the rising sign (where the ascendant or lagna is), the sign of location, etc. The sign of the Moon (Chandra Lagna), the sign of the Sun's position (Surya Lagna), the sign of the owner of the first house or Lagnesh (Paka Lagna), the sign of a group of planets (from three or more), the sign of the tenth house (career, profession), the sign of the tenth house's owner, etc.
All of these things go into making a person, and the astrologer's job is to distribute and synthesise all of the aforementioned energies in the proper order of significance. They need tenacity, stamina, and response.
These include members of the armed forces, athletes, first responders, firefighters, ministry of emergency personnel, police officers, soldiers in special operations units, mechanics, electricians, builders, travellers, chemists, pyrotechnicians, security guards, shooters, managers, workers in the metallurgical industry, cattle slaughterers, carpenters, repairmen who are constantly sawing and drilling, etc.
Aries: In Aries, all planets develop a sharply concentrated piercing strength.
Aries connected to the soil, flowers, plants, real estate, the arts, beauty, cuisine, money, stocks trading, fashion and apparel, and the entertainment business that calls for patience, consistency, and good taste.
Taurus: The character of planets in Taurus is one that is obstinate, sluggish, and steady. in fields including data, facts and numbers, statistics, media, translation, literature, editing, publishing, and advertising.
Gemini: They frequently engage in marketing, trade, air transportation, logistics, mail, Internet projects, computers, bookkeeping, secretarial labour, education, courier services, diplomacy, intermediates, and mediators.
Planets in Gemini become as information transmitters.
Cancer: fishing and all marine occupations, including the military and trade.Car washes, laundry services, and the commerce in other liquid substances are all tied to water. Doctors, nurses, furniture and interior designers, purveyors, warehouse workers, restaurants, hotels, nurses, "mother" professions including care for others, social workers, historians, psychologists, teachers, and preachers are examples of occupations that fall under this category.
Planets in Cancer become sentimental and softer.
Leo: Leos are  public employees, politicians, ministers, leaders of all ranks, performers ranging from musicians to theatre directors, investors, physicians (if the Sun is strong), soldiers, conservationists, farmers, real estate experts (fixed sign), well-known TV hosts of entertainment programmes, impresario.

SIGNS AND LEVELS OF PROGRESS
"Homage to the blessed wisdom deity of awareness.
Without these signs and levels of progress on the path That surely show when results have been obtained In Dzogchen's innermost and total freedom, You are no different from an ordinary person, and your practice is wasted.
Since your diligence wanes
when signs of practice fail to appear, This text describing them is of utmost importance.
My child, here are the signs of the path For the person who trains in dharmata.
When a person practices with perseverance, there are two types of signs of the path, indefinite and definite, which indicate that the result will be swiftly attained.
The indefinite are known as basic signs, which appear due to one's previous connection even without having practiced. As they are unreliable, I will not describe them here.
The definite signs appear due to practicing, and they are of two types: changing and unchanging.
The changing signs can appear in actuality or as moods.
The first kind is, when doing the ngöndro or rushen practices, your body feels at the brink of collapse, like the walls of a house in shambles; your voice feels worn out like when exhausted; or you convulse like someone possessed.
These indicate that you have separated samsara and nirvana.
The moods are disenchantment with the samsaric body, speech, and mind. They indicate having purified the obscurations of the three realms and separated from samsara. Their absence indicates not having gained experience, so repeat the practice.
Based on the tiredness of body, speech, and mind, as the actual signs your body is blissful, your voice wants to speak out, and your mind experiences everything as space. You feel, "Now nothing exists!" As well as compassion for beings who fail to realize this, enthusiasm for the Dharma will also arise. As moods, you forget that you have a body, don't notice your breathing, .and mentally don't want to part from the state of nonthought, thinking,
"This is it!" These are the
signs of having taken hold of the nirvanic type of mental stability. Their absence indicates not being well trained, so exert yourself and continue.
All these are only temporary signs; they change and are not reliable.
Next are the signs of the main practice, signs of having established rigpa in actuality through the view. The actual signs are feeling disenchantment with body, speech, and mind in a way that is visible to both yourself and others, and also having no interest in the activities of this life. Your voice is like that of a mute. In mind, you are tired of samsaric things, you feel a profound devotion for your guru, and a compassion for all beings wells up so that tears flow. There is trust in the consequence of actions, and you exert yourself in giving up misdeeds and practicing virtue.
The mood signs include lightness of body, even at times forgetting that you have a body, not noticing your breath's movement, and mentally feeling that everything is insubstantial and evanescent.
All these signs change and don't last. The signs of lasting value are the following.
Within the expansive space of the view, when awareness is utterly laid bare, without fluctuations, and doesn't project experience as being "other," that is the sign of having anchored awareness within dharmata.
The mood signs of having understood this are: no matter where your attention moves, understanding and realizing that it is your own mind, seeing that thoughts are projected and return as self-display, and understanding that they are like space, completely insubstantial.
These are the signs of having established, through the view, that appearances are mind.
To recognize this even while dreaming is the sign of having reached the fullest degree of steadiness. If you sustain this, in seven years you will awaken to the state of nirmanakaya with the vanishing of the material body. If you don't recognize while dreaming, you will awaken at death. Therefore, to persevere in the practice is the conduct of the foremost person.
Now come the signs of experiencing the state of realization in actuality. In your body, speech, and mind, the actual signs are that your body is light and energetic, your voice is clear and able to express teachings you have never even heard, and your mind at times has some degree of clairvoyance. You see everything lucidly as rainbows, sometimes full of bodily forms and circles, sometimes becoming void and without reference points. As devotion to your guru grows even deeper and your concern for karmic consequences becomes more relaxed, you feel that your body emits light, at times your body is absent, your voice speaks unintentionally like an echo, and your mind is clear and blissful and does not project anything; now and then it turns void and forms no thoughts. All these occurrences change and cannot be relied on. The unchanging signs are the following.
There is no longer any experience in which you cling to a solid reality; instead, everything is sheer luminous display. Everything appears, but there is no solid reference point or clinging.
To realize this is the sign of having established, through experience in training, that mind itself is empty.
To experience this even while dreaming is to have reached the fullest degree of steadiness.
If you sustain this, in three years the material body will vanish and you awaken to the state of sambhogakaya's intangible wisdom body.
Next, the sign that this emptiness is spontaneously and effortlessly liberated in itself: regarding body, speech, and mind, the signs in actuality are that there is no attachment to a body, such as no fear of water.
Moreover, previously unseen marks of excellence can be witnessed by both you and others. Your voice can express beneficial Dharma teachings simply from you directing your will toward others. In your mind, untainted clairvoyance arises.
The signs as meditation moods are that you neither remember nor even think of clinging to your body, speech, and mind; that whatever you experience is spacious and not taken as real; and that you feel as if you can move freely through rock, mountains, and the like. The unchanging signs are the following:

The unchanging signs are the following.
No matter what you experience, there is neither any conceptual focus nor any attempt to accept or reject. Rather, it is liberated without being assumed to be real, so whether day or night, without needing to remember it, appearance and emptiness are naturally liberated into nonduality. That is the sign of having established self-liberation through spontaneous conduct.
When the delusion of dreaming ends, you have reached the fullest degree of steadiness. If you sustain this, in one year the material body will vanish and you awaken to the state of dharmakaya without remainder.
Then, the sign that this self-liberation is brought to consummation, the fruition of spontaneous presence, appears only in others' perception, whereas in your personal perception, all kinds of signs and indications of progress on the path have ceased. This state, known as the vision of exhaustion in dharmata, means that the moving force of appearances has ceased, while the still quality of emptiness is no longer. Thus, the nondual nature of appearance and emptiness neither fluctuates nor changes in any way whatsoever. Instead there is a naturally awake quality that transcends meeting and separation-an unfabricated presence, an absence without any dismantling-which is an utterly naked state of aware emptiness free of clinging. In others' perceptions, since an unobstructed knowledge
-there is an effortless unfolding of rupakayas for the welfare of beings.
Accordingly, as the basic nature of things is all-pervasive, unless the signs on the path of self-existing wakefulness have reached their fullest degree, there is no understanding of when the time of the spontaneously present fruition has arrived and the practice becomes smug and lazy.
Without it, your attachment to emptiness is no different from that of the general vehicles.
With it, the fruition will quickly be reached to fulfill the aims of yourself and others.
May this meet with a worthy person of karmic destiny. Hide it from the unworthy person with wrong views.
Safeguard it; be sure you protect these teachings!
Samaya. Seal, seal, seal.

Excluding foreign bands, who are her favorite opm bands? You can name ones from the 90s, which I assumed was her rock phase based off how many bands sky rocketed during that time.
Honestly the easiest way I can answer this is 'who isn't' because music is such a big part of Filipino culture, and I like to imagine Philippines specifically to be the type of person who likes whatever she vibes to. That said, I'll try to list a few possible favorites I can think of, based on what bands I think are 'iconic' in the local music scene and what I think she'd vibe most with and what bands I'm familiar with HFDJF
And we can go back further-- after all, OPM is more than just rock, and the term was coined way back the seventies to refer to Manila sound. As awful of a decade it was, music was one of its highlights, and both Hotdog and APO Hiking Society are honestly too iconic not to talk about in terms of the history of OPM. There's also ASIN, for something much more classically folk rock. And of course, branching off from the typical Manila sound, you could argue Pinoy rock had its start here with the Juan dela Cruz Band.
That said, her rock phase definitely came in the nineties! I think if we're going to talk about her absolute favorite rock band, it's definitely going to be Eraserheads, though Parokya ni Edgar is also up there in terms of iconic faves. There's also Rivermaya and Aegis, to name a few more. And rock wasn't the only thing playing on the radio-- there's Prettier than Pink, Smokey Mountain, and for the hugot karaoke moments, Side A.
And once we reach the 2000s, man. Orange and Lemons, Urbandub, Up Dharma Down (now UDD), The Itchyworms, Imago, Moonstar88, Silent Sanctuary, Kamikazee-- I could go on. There were so many good iconic bands during this period that I definitely encourage everyone to look through, because the bigger question at this point is what wouldn't she have vibed with.
And while the 2010s to today came to be dominated with the Hallyu wave, the local indie scene also rose to prominence around this time! I can't talk about this decade without mentioning Ben&Ben and IV of Spades, but I'd also like to mention Tanya Markova, Autotelic, SUD, Lola Amour, Magnus Haven, Nobita, and Munimuni. And there's definitely a lot more, way more than I know and am able to realistically be aware of, as the local music scene continues to grow and diversify.
Of course, with the influence of the Hallyu wave and J-pop idol groups come the creation of our own Filipino idol groups; technically not bands I suppose, but they are groups of people creating music together and do represent what's brewing in the local music scene and her Spotify playlist! Again I can't delve into this category without mentioning SB19, but some other P-pop groups to look at are Alamat, MNL48, and BINI.
And there's definitely more! I stuck to bands and groups when solo performers are also a big part of the local music scene, and I haven't even gotten into the local hip-hop and rap scene (but I'm less familiar with that area tbh) which is also a big part of modern Filipino music, but this isn't a history of Filipino music post so I hope these answers suffice in any case!

Lingshan Hermit: The Seemingly Joyful Sufferings
Typically, those who have come into contact with Buddhism through me can be broadly divided into two types: Buddhists and those who are interested in Buddhism but prefer to maintain a distance in order to stay objective - non-Buddhists. Most Buddhists hope to turn non-Buddhists into Buddhists. Providing Buddhist advice to non-Buddhists thus becomes an enjoyable task for many Buddhists. In this respect, I'm no exception.
I've noticed that many Buddhists and non-Buddhists share a common question. Non-Buddhists who show interest in Buddhism usually admire its philosophy and mostly accept its theories. However, they often express to me that something in Buddhism seems too pessimistic. For instance, they can't accept the "Dharma Seal" in Buddhism that states "all compounded things are suffering". Most people consider this conclusion too pessimistic and arbitrary.
They believe that although there is famine, cold, deception, betrayal, terrorist attacks, and mass slaughters like in Rwanda in the world, there are also joys worth pursuing such as familial love, romantic love, and the sense of accomplishment from work.
Long-term interaction has made me realize that it's not only non-Buddhists who hold these thoughts. Many Buddhists think the same, even though most of them don't voice their doubts. However, this doesn't mean they completely agree with the Buddha's conclusion internally. With these thoughts, you can't possess a sense of renunciation because you think reality isn't bad enough to necessitate renunciation. You believe there are things that aren't so bitter, so you have expectations. Having expectations means there will be suffering.
When we talk about the "compounded happiness", we can give a simple example. When you're tired from standing, you'll want to sit down. At this moment, sitting down is a kind of "compounded happiness" (maybe we should call it "seemingly joyful suffering"). If sitting down is true happiness, then we should be happier the longer we sit. But that's not the case. If you sit for more than an hour, your buttocks start to protest. You'll want to change your position, or you might think standing for a while would be more comfortable. After standing for half an hour, you'll want to sit down again.
This shows that our so-called happiness is just suffering disguised as joy. A friend once told me that work is what brings him the most happiness. I wanted to tell him: the things that bring you joy can also cause you the most damage. If you find yourself unable to work, you'll be in great pain, just like a drug addict who can't find their drugs. From a Buddhist perspective, compounded happiness is like a drug. Although it might bring you a bit of joy, it's more like a quagmire covered with flowers.
Everything is impermanent, and so is the definition of happiness. When you're hungry, you might think that eating ten hamburgers would be happiness. But soon, this (eating hamburgers) turns into suffering. You might only eat five and not want to touch this food anymore. Your happiness has turned into not eating hamburgers.
When your happiness depends on something, it's not true happiness. True happiness is the kind that doesn't need an object. You can't even call it a type of happiness as it transcends both joy and suffering. For example, if your happiness is based on being able to eat Cadbury chocolate frequently, this happiness will soon change. You might not be able to eat what you want, or eating too much might turn it into a form of suffering.
We've all experienced this. When you obtain the thing you've been longing for, you often find that it's not as exciting and joyful as you imagined. What you get is just plainness.
When you get married, you might be full of hope for the future. But after a few years, you find that the person sleeping next to you has become someone who opposes you on almost everything.
What we're discussing here are not the obvious sufferings, not the kind where your hand is cut or you're scolded by someone. There's no debate about such suffering; no one would deny that being beaten is painful. It's easy to reach a consensus on this.
What we need to recognize here are the seemingly joyful sufferings, those that you've perceived as joy until now. When you are noticed, admired, valued, and gladly accept all these, you're actually trapped in them. You indulge yourself in pursuing these seemingly joyful sufferings. The result can only be more suffering. Therefore, recognizing their true nature is very important.
If you still think these things bring happiness, you won't have a firm sense of renunciation. Because you'll anticipate those joys, even though they're fleeting. You might think that even though there are many things not going well in life, overall, joy outweighs suffering. With such thoughts, you won't aspire to become a Buddha.
A Buddhist master once said: if your leg itches, scratching it might provide relief, but if it never itches, that would be even better. Compounded happiness is like scratching an itch.

A discussion on
Indradev/ Devraj Indra.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
(This is based on research and familiarity, and what I think he represents)
Devraj Indra a.k.a the king of the Gods, is also the lord of the Senses (Indriyas) and thoughts.
(Hari is Hrishikesh 'lord of Senses', making him the lord of Indra.
He's always depicted as arrogant, and full of pride at times. Afterwsrds he would realize and admit his mistake, then apologise to Bhagwan/Bhagwati.
This symbolises the mind of humans and our senses. Our way of thinking. We would feel arrogant at times. We would say, "this happened because of us". We would even feel like we're better than others. Then after facing a certain consequence, we realize that we were wrong. We apologize to Prabhu and promise to not make the mistake again. That is Indra.
It's so amazing how the Divine act like humans, just to teach us valuable things.
》 the fear of loosing the throne.
Devraj is always seen thinking that something or someone will become so strong and powerful, that they'll take his Singhasan (throne). So because of that fear, he as well as other devas would try to stop the Tapasya of Rakshasas, Rishis, or anyone who is doing strong tapasya in order to get a boon. However this contributes to the devotee's pariksha.
He's worried, because if he looses his throne, everything will be imbalanced. The panchabhootas would be out of control.
(The Rishi and the Rakshas/Asur (as mentioned) the Rishi doesn't desire to be on a royal throne. And the Rakshas/Asur is a form of adharm. And Dharma must prevail, in order to have balance)
Because of this, he protects his throne dutifully, for the sake of Jagat Kalyan.
Hence this represents the mind and soul.
If we dutifully protect our mind and soul, then how would something (like a thought, some type of negativity) come in to corrupt it. We're made up uf the Panchabootas and the 5 senses. We host thoughts in our minds, as well as emotions. Yet we must protect our seat (asana) which in the Soul, guided by Bhagwan/Bhagwati.
》The Apsaras.
He loves Nritya and Geet, as it's a divine gift of Mata Saraswati. The Apsara is always a form celestial feminine, as well as the Gandharvas were celestial males. Both talented in their skills and celestial appearance. The Devtao however respects them, because they're always in the mode of Sattwa (goodness, purity and godliness)
This, and their Somraas, symbomise the pleasures and fun of life. Everything comes into being, due to talent. And not an extraordinary talent. But something simple.
Talent as in being able to do something.
(We get food because people have a talent for cooking, we got entertainment because people have a talent for entertaining, we get jewelry because people have talent for making them, etc)
We find fun in nature because that's Prakriti, an extention of Maa Shakti. And who else represents Maa Shakti? Women. Hence the Apsaras.
Hope you enjoy this.
I understand that there are many versions of Nezha and we shouldn't stick to just one version, but I wanted to ask, does Nezha's age vary in any of the stories?
Hello!
Put very bluntly, yes, Nezha’s age varies depending on which story you’re reading and who’s retold it.
I happened to stumble upon a timeline error where Nezha’s brother Muzha is described to be using martial arts weapons referred to as “Hooks of Wu” which were specific to the 1800s, quite a long time after Canonization of the Gods was published, but also originating from a time period where numerous varied editions of that story were in circulation. Upwards of twenty different versions exclusive to the 19th century, actually.
The problem arises that Canonization of the Gods is meant to be occurring during the Zhou Shang conflict, that I will generously assume to be in 1045BCE, centuries before the Hooks of Wu would actually exist. It’s completely possible that the version Gu Zhizhong translated was one of these later editions as is makes no chronological sense for Muzha to have those kinds of weapons to begin with. So I have been on somewhat of a rabbit chase trying to pin down the edition Gu Zhizhong used.
Bearing such errors in mind, it’s easy to see where the confusion of Nezha’s age can come from. Before his origin story was integrated within Canonization of the Gods he would be roughly three to seven days old when his conflict with Ao Guang and the Lady Rock Demoness would occur - whereas within Canonization of the Gods he’s actually 6 or 7 years old.
Outside of that, a definitive age isn’t actually provided. Genuinely, within the scope of Chinese folklore and mythos it’s very rare to assign someone an exact age - which I do believe contributed heavily to the known discourse surrounding Nezha’s age to begin with.
He was imported as an adult from India, a child form not seeming to exist for a while until stories of Krsna were integrated to how the Chinese envisioned Nalakubara. Krsna, being an infantile disguise for the notorious Vishnu, also displays supernatural human strength and is actually successful in killing his father figure (1) — unlike Nezha.
As children, both Krsna and Nezha are able to wield heavenly bows and subjugate water spirits (2) while also being known to be dragon tamers (3). The inclusion of these stories to Nezha predates the sculpting of the Quanzhou Pagoda’s (which have been discussed briefly here) and are arguably the earliest evidence of Nezha being a dragon tamer.
Speculatively a child god combination of both Nalakubara and Krsna named Nana is likely where a majority of Nezha’s child attributes come from, based in the Scripture of the Supreme Secrets of Nana Deva - which would see translations within China during the Northern Song period of 960AD-1127AD. Nana would be described thus:
At that time there was a Deva called Nana. His appearance was exceptionally handsome, and his face beamed with a gentle smile. He was holding the sun, the moon, and various weapons. His numerous treasures and abundant jewelry shone more brightly than the sun and the moon. He made himself a luoye robe (4) from the dragons Nanda and Upananda, and a belt from the dragon Taksaka (5). He possessed the same strength as Narayana (i.e. Visnu). He too came to the assembly and sat down facing the Buddha … At that time the Buddha emanated great light from his dharma body of meditation. The light covered the entire Buddha Universe, reaching all the great evil yaksas, the various types of raksasas and pisacas (6) and all the evil dragons as far as the heavenly constellations. When the Buddhas light shone upon them they all awoke to the truth. The Buddhas light returned to him and, after encircling him three times, entered his head. It then reissued in seven colors from his brow, entering Nana-Deva’s head. When the Buddha light penetrated his head, Nana Deva displayed an enormous body like Mt. Sumeru. His facial expression alternated between terrifying anger and a broad smile. He had a thousand arms, and he was holding a skull (7) and numerous weapons. He was handsomely adorned with a tiger skin robe and skulls. [Mightily Strong] He emanated blazing light and terrifying strength. When Nana Deva displayed this divine body, the great earth shook, and all who beheld him were terrified.
Both Nana and Nezha share the same residence of Vaisravana’s palace, are known dragon tamers, and both were known to use belts. The Supreme Secrets of Nana Deva predate all known connections between Nezha and dragons, perhaps lending to Nezha many more elements than initially believed.
Though without concrete evidence stating one way or another, I can only present this information speculatively - especially as it seems difficult for some to understand that Nezha does enjoy a known adult and child form. This answer has already become quite long, so if there’s still confusion regarding this please feel free to ask for more details.
ok can someone tell me exaclty where the Kama-mara link in fgo comes from? I’ve just spent the whole evening researching it and come up with only three things:
A story where in attempting to tempt the Buddha Mara transforms into Kama. In the exact same story right after he transforms into Yama and Dharma, neither of whom are even mentioned in the in-game profile for kama, suggesting all four characters are NOT synonymous
A single blog stating that Pradyumna, the incarnation of Kamadeva in the mahabharata, is the same as Mara and represents unfulfilled desire. This is the only blog/source I can find linking pradyumna and Mara, every other source only mentions a connection to kamadeva (the same blog makes a point to have kamadeva and his incarnation as ananga as fully separate from Mara)
The realm Mara lives in is called Kāmadhātu.
That’s it! Like Mara does also exist in Hindu buddishm but he’s called Mara and is still a separate person from Kama-this isn’t even a case of them fulfilling similar roles, bc Mara the Buddhist demon represents concepts like death, rebirth and desire as elements running antagonistically to enlightenment and Kamadeva the Hindu god represents the true form of love and desire, and wields the creative power of the universe and often features in devotional rituals for new brides, people seeking health, and other such types of purification. He DOES also invoke feelings of lust but it’s just part and parcel of what he represents as a whole. Like are these not separate concepts? Isn’t fusing the two kind of like if they’d fused Ishtar and Amor together because they both are associated with love?
I even checked what Kama as a concept represents to see if there was a link and it’s just sexual desire/gratification and aesthetic enjoyment of life which is like, vaguely similar in that both kama and mara do have associations with sexuality but it really isn’t enough to straight up mash the two together or say that Kama is the Hindu version of Mara? Am I missing something???
Madness Reborn
Chapter 1: Dharma and Karma
This was a bitch to write thanks to Writer's block so it might be awkward at the end. I'm trying to add more worldbuilding as the story progresses since Hank and MK's worlds are drastically different.
By the way, this particular chapter gets gory so if you guys came for any fluff, then I'll put markers for any that wish to skip. Type of violence being dismemberment, decapitation, electrocution, bisection and such. Madness Combat is a violent especially with our protagonist Hank. Also, incoming trauma towards children! Enjoy.
*Crck!* Fragments of a fine white lotus shaped porcelain plate laid ominously on the pristine stone floor. Tortured agonizing screams and maliciously vengeful roars tore these cries of help asunder. A thick aura of hatred, torment, madness but also sorrow follows behind the fierce howls. Not one of a monster but that of a mortal.
A frighteningly familiar sensation that can only be felt by one single soul. To this person, there was one other being who once held a malevolence just as great. He had gotten a lot better since then but this soul barely had any good kharmic energy to match a candlelight.
Yet that very tiny candlelight held a chance to grow and have their dharma renew. That hope is enough for action to be taken. Start preparation for a small trip that needs to be done. If her dear monkey can have his soul saved, so too could this new foreign one.
"'I am Hank the Zhànshì, you ain't getting out of my…'/Seems my goggles and mask were taken by a squirt." It was surprisingly warm for a sunny day in the middle of Fall. Morning sun had barely broken the last sunrise remnants so most people weren't awake at this hour. The perfect time for a certain child and his giant guardian to get ready for the day ahead.
Childish laughter rang from one of the city's very few forested parks. MK was currently being held up in the air from the scruff of his shirt by Hank's tail. The assassin's goggles wrapped around the boy's head, his face mask around the child's neck. Without these two items the man's facial features were easier to see.
He had no nose, eyebrows or visible eyes. Just a huge cross on his face as the horizontal one furrowed similar to an amused person's eyebrows. The man didn't have a lower jaw but a dark grey prosthetic bearing two large fangs. Lipless upper jaw presented long razor sharp teeth for a horrid underbite. A sight made more terrifying from the long tongue which hung as Hank howled in amusement.
Well it wasn't really scary for the young boy since he impishly stuck his own tongue out. The cross for a face and floating hand were natural traits of Hank's species: Grunts or Crosslings. Both eyes alongside their mouths were just concealable. MK had seen the giant's eyes on quite a few occasions. Nearly sunken pitch black bearing ominous red slits for pupils.
For why he's so big is because Hank is a Magnified Grunt or MAG. Actually a failed one since his magnification got interrupted halfway through. Otherwise the man would've been around 7 ft at most. As for the metal jaw… "A psychopathic zombie clown eviscerated it from pummeling my head a few times." MK didn't really question that bit and took Hank's word for it.
"Now why did you snatch my goggles and face mask?" The question held an amused tone rather than what usually would be irritation for him. Another sign that MK dug himself a place in the assassin's heart: Stealing From Hank is a death sentence. He brutally killed his fair share of thieves dumb enough to try.
"They look cool so I thought about trying them on-ZHÀNSHÌ!" MK giggled uncontrollably when the assassin began licking his cheek. It wasn't the first time the man had done it. Since MAGs were closer to their animal instincts, grooming tendencies were an uncommon trait.
MK would often compare it to doggy kisses since Hank didn't have any lips. The man only stopped his licking when the kid gave him back both items. "Knew that work. Now come on, I can't get you a pair of goggles if you aren't with me at the store." He barely managed to put on the face mask before MK tackled him in excitement.
For someone barely even reaching his knees, the seven year old had some impressive strength. "Thank you bàba!" MK didn't notice the giant stiffen as his patchwork brain blue screens. He heard that word many times during his entire stay in this world so the failed MAG knew what it meant. Father.
Was…was he? 'Can I really think of myself as his bàba?' Even when MK fired a thousand questions about his new goggles while they headed over to the city's shopping district, Hank remains lost in thought. Too distracted to notice the feeling of being watched.
"What a fascinating addition to my collection. Glad I was able to snatch one of the last remaining three for such a good bargain!" Within a pitch black abyss, the silhouette of a single figure could be seen before the only light source. A fluorescent lamp that shone down on a stone statue of an enchanting fox. Its 10 tails all fanned out, sharp teeth in a vicious snarl and eyes sharp in rage. The unnerving lifelike visage of a cornered predator.
More light came pouring inside when the door to the room flew open. "Sir. I believe I found a very unique item for your collection." A photo was handed over to the shadowy person. The darkness kept many from seeing the malicious smile that etched itself on the stranger.
"How peculiar yet so intimidating! Those sharp spines, powerful claws and ferocious visage! A new species or a survivor of a near extinct one? Call an assembly now! This fantastical beast cannot slip through my fingers."
More lamps suddenly came to life one by one, each with a terrible truth. Hundreds of statues sitting atop their own pedestals. Rage, fear and even teary sorrow painted on every stone face. One empty pedestal held a picture depicting a bloody Hank standing in a street full of fresh corpses.
"Another bust!" The assassin could only pat his little ward on the head. Both of them had been searching for a place to get some goggles. A task proving harder than it should be as every store had an issue. Goggles were sold out, not in MK's size or there were no options to order any kind. Hank would have threatened the clerk like he usually does but he wasn't in Nevada and MK is there too.
Thus they lucked out from being target practice for the weapons he stole off that gang. Not like the dead pricks have any more use for them now. After the tenth shop, Hank believed a snack break was needed. He currently sat outside a sweet shop for his order of egg tarts, red bean buns and sweet egg buns while MK played on the store's small playground.
In Nevada a lot of things were very scarce to the point they're either nonexistent or overpriced to hell. Anything sugar related was just that since a desert covered wasteland isn't exactly a good place to farm, w/o bandits and Zeds. Hank's recently acquired funds would be enough to pay for the order and leave a nice tip.
The man's swaying tail came to a halt when someone sat down on his table adjacent from him. EVERYONE had given this particular spot a wideberth the moment Hank set off some killer intent. Only stopping so the waitress could take their order without issue.
He looked up to see the culprit being a human woman. Quite beautiful with neatly braided long raven hair, soft light peach porcelain skin, slim elegant figure draped in a simple pink dress covered in white lotus embroidery. Other than her closed eyes, Hank felt something was off with the woman.
A familiar otherworldly feeling that he got being around Jebus, Phobos, the Auditor and even damn Tricky the Clown. The fact he DIDN'T feel like hurting someone just solidifies it for Hank. She wasn't human but instead something closer to a god.
"I hope you don't mind me sitting here for a moment. You seemed awfully lonely so I thought of providing some company." Her voice so soft, light and soothing made Hank even more wary of her attentions. "Who are you really?"
The woman tilted her head a bit in curiosity at the miniscule killing intent from the assassin. Although it wasn't fully malicious in nature because of the child currently sliding down the plastic slide. "Just a mere curious soul. How are you doing today?"
Hank kept silent for a moment as if looking for any red flags. "Irritated." If it wasn't for this strange pacifying aura, he would be growling right now. To have something like violence engraved in your soul to suddenly be cut off from it felt WRONG for Hank.
Not even the MAG part of him could imagine causing harm . "Hey bàba! Look at what I can do!" Hank focused on MK who was now doing a handstand. The kid was slightly shaky but otherwise had great balance. His tail wagged pridefully at the sight much to the man's betrayal.
When Hank went to face the woman, she was already gone. Almost if the lady never existed if it weren't for the small note on the table and a pair of goggles… The headwear was a similar type as the assassin's but had sky blue lenses instead.
'I hope these shall greatly assist you and your child. Be wary though as more dangerous beings have taken notice of your peculiar nature. Mercy isn't something they shall give. It's best to tell the difference between a potential friend and foe.' Hank haphazardly pocketed the offending paper.
Cryptic gods were something he absolutely loathed as they liked to dance around the damn answer. Only clue he had on the lady's identity being the whole lotus motif. Maybe MK might have some answers. For now, he got the kid's goggles and a warning.
Night was quick to swallow up the day over Megapolis. Too fast for those more conscious of the dangers that prefer stirring trouble in total darkness. Hank and by proxy MK can easily agree with the sentiment. After they had enjoyed their snack break, it was about time to find a squatting spot for the night.
The earlier you are to an abandoned building, the less likely someone else would be living inside. It didn't help that they weren't having much luck either. Nearly every place in the area had eerie signs of someone still living there. Doesn't help that the occupied homes had no attics or basements they could slip inside.
As it looks now, MK and Hank will be sleeping outside tonight. The latter being more on edge about the prospect especially when that little note is still in his breast pocket. He could see and smell the signs of sabotage on every building.
It aggravated the man's animalistic maternal instincts when MK grips his hand tighter. The boy's new goggles sat neatly atop his head. Strangely the headwear was the perfect fit for the youth and felt completely comfortable to wear.
MK put on his new goggles in hopes that they give him some courage. It seemed to work as everything felt peaceful under a blue tinted view. Probably explains why Hank rarely takes his off except for bedtime or alone with his ward. Speaking of said grunt, he had finally stopped to check the city map he nabbed from a tourist stand.
"Hmm… there should be a camping store nearby. Probably get ourselves a tent or even a tarp if we're lucky." MK paid more attention to looking at the scenario with his goggles than Hank's mumbles. Right now they were in the industrial district which meant dumpsters and abandoned businesses would have all sorts of goodies to find.
Now the brunette never really saw anyone but Hank with his new goggles. Something that made his double take more reasonable when he saw someone else. It was an approaching human man with a gold aura around him intertwined by thick black smoke strands. Flairs that weren't there when MK didn't have the goggles on.
Almost if it could see… His heart dropped as blue tinted eyes saw the sheen of metal in the man's jacket sleeve. This man wants to hurt them. MK didn't know if it was the sinister smoke or the ornament butterfly knife sliding out the sleeve into an awaiting. But his right hand frantically dove towards Hank's pocket. He took whatever he pulled and… *BOOM*
*Warning! Incoming gore related violence.*
The assassin immediately went stiff from the brutal tempo of a very close gunshot. His eyes caught someone lying in a growing pool not too far from them. Part of the guy's head was gone and his new gun in a shaken MK's hands. It didn't take a genius to know what happened… Kid had gotten his first kill.
Things only grew worse once the dead man's associates came swarming out from everywhere. All human with every one brandishing weapons from swords, lances to even shock batons. A sight that flared a primal instinct within Hank. One he still wasn't used to: Protect.
MK found himself pressed securely against the giant's chest, the gun now absent from his small hands. Hank's black trenchcoat and floating hand blanketed the small boy from sight of the impending slaughter. The Failed MAG got on all three, his tail arched back like a scorpion as the pale spines on his body crackle in black electricity.
Hank took a deep breath then let out his killing intent in a bloodcurdling roar. The stillness of the night torn asunder by pure fury, hatred and malice. All unlucky to hear it were either paralyzed with fear or collapsed from the overwhelming ferocity. Even the district itself shook as every animal resident fled in sheer terror.
The duo's attackers were the unluckiest victims for whatever bravado and fighting spirit they had shattered. Realization that this particular target wasn't just a predator. No, the beast is something none of them could ever fight. They foolishly try to hunt wrath's incarnate, an Asura.
Every fighter went to turn tail, some dropping their weapons, most tripping on their feet and very few were able to turn around. A bad move for Hank viciously slammed his tail into the ground. The street shattered underneath his prey as black electricity carved out destruction.
Hank was on them in seconds for a bloke in the far back found sharp claws tearing their neck out. The sight enforced their fear of death as it seemed the giant had the power to teleport. In truth, it was something far greater: probability.
Some men manage to raise their weapons and stomach the fear. If they could at least hurt the beast then maybe there's a chance to survive. Even a sliver to capture their target as a more burly warrior swung his large battle-axe. An idea crushed literally under Hank's beartrap maw alongside the smuckerfuck's head.
The Grunt's long tongue licking up every bit of gold tinted crimson viscera on his face hurled that hope instead of just some blokes' dinner. Screams fill the night as Hank continues to paint the street red. Bullets through the heart or head were merciful compared to what happens by the beast's own hand.
Heads shredded by teeth, black electricity, boots or claws. Limbs ripped off like a doll in the hands of an angry child. The unluckiest prey found themselves bisected by hand or disemboweled by teeth. Grisly display of wrath that makes even a devil piss themselves.
Despite everything, none of that blood and gore reached the child held protectively by the 'asura'. Not a single drop when sharp teeth tore out a spine, pale spikes shred through the neck flesh, or electrically charged claws destroyed someone's rib cage. MK was shielded from the brutality and safely wept in Hank's chest.
Then something happened that made the small child still. It wasn't the fading screams of their attackers nor the heavy iron scent. Before the last thug went silent, Hank let out one last roar. "NO ONE MAKES MY BABY CRY AND WALKS AWAY ALIVE!"
*Gore ended.*
Baby… The giant who had been caring for him really thought of MK as his child. He had been on his own for so long that such a reality will always be a dream. An idea the boy craved whenever he saw children being happy with their families, blood or adopted. Something he had believed became impossible as no one would want a killer as their son. Even thought that his relationship with Hank would be nothing more than guardian and ward.
But it did come true. He really does have a family now. Something MK held onto as if fearing it would slip from his grasp. Hank enforced it because he never let go as the man looked for shelter. Even when he had finally sat down within a small temple deep in the woods and covered MK's small body with the bloodless side of jacket.
MK would soon drift to sleep from the soothing beat of Hank's heart as large arms cradle him protectively. For now, this family will rest peacefully before the statue of a woman that eerily looks like the person Hank met. Safe from the dangers that their actions will cause.
"Breaking News! A massacre consisting of 36 bodies have been found in the industrial district. Shockingly every single victim was immortal. Film production for a scene in the Monkey Cop reboot has been put on hold as officials attempt to find clues on Megapolis' vigilante dubbed The Asura. Only lead so far is the blood found in a small temple for the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin. Strangely there was water under the statue's eye."
MK got his first kill so he's a bit messed up from it. Trust me when I say that him living on the streets was something he chose as the alternative is worse in his opinion. Hank isn't really one to express comfort in words but his actions. First kills are difficult for someone to process especially out of self defense.
And yes, it was Guanyin that Hank end up encountering. Guanyin is the Goddess of Mercy and a main character in Journey To The West as she was responsible for Sun Wukong's chance at redemption.
She is depicted as a deity who sees that every person has a chance to become enlightened in one of their incarnations. In one iteration where she was sent to the Underworld, Guanyin nearly turned all of Hell into a paradise from her good kharmic energy and King Yama, the one in charge of this realm, had to make her leave. Yeah, she practically devastated the Underworld with good vibes.
Guanyin is often depicted with a pacifying aura that practically neutralizes any chance of violence around her. Anyone, she is definitely going try and help Hank similar to Sun Wukong. For MK's goggles, to put it simply it has the ability to tell friend or foe amongst strangers.
Now for why Hank knew she was a deity in disguise, some of his enemies either had godlike powers or were some type of godly entity such as Jebus, Phobos and the Auditor.
He been on the receiving end when it comes to such things but also came in contact with a sacred artifact bearing the same power. As for the Asura, they are wrathful gods portrayed in various versions of religion including Buddhism. Sometimes they are depicted as a form Buddhas can become when their fury is summoned.
Trust me when I say that Hank and MK killing immortals is going to land them in a lot of trouble. Especially since the Collector hires immortal mercenaries more often than yaoguai. Just know that immortals are harder to kill that enchanted weapons are mostly required if one doesn't have any good alternatives such as magic.
Next chapter is the consequences and should be introduction of our two monkeys. Until next time folks, continue to thrive in the madness and I'll see you back in Megapolis. BTW, the scene with MK and Hank at the beginning is based on this.
