Dethvanity is really funny to me conceptually as an episode because you can see how little they had to make the characters insecure about for the bit. They swing for obvious lowblow choices with Pickle' baldness and Nathan's weight and even those require some suspension of disbelief because ok. Sure. Nathan '(said extremely proudly) never skipped a meal in my life!' Explosion is insecure about being a big man now. Nathan *guy who everyone thinks is smoking hot 99% of the time* Explosion is a tiny bit larger than usual and is insecure about it now. Lol. Lmao even.
But anyway then we hit Skwisgaar and Toki and there's like NOTHING to swing for, you can see them going uhhh ok Skwis doesn't sleep he probably drinks a lot of coffee, and Toki? Shit, what does Toki have to be insecure about with his looks. He's perfect, he's adorable, he's ripped. Um. FUCK IT, HE'S DOING NOTHING BUT EATING LEMONS. WE GOT NOTHING, WE GOT NOTHING, JUST GIVE THE BOY CITRUS FRUITS.
WOE 🍋 BE UPON YE
I'm sure i could make some smarter points about the attempts at applying vanity in this ep and how outside of this and a few other moments i do actually like that the show rarely takes pot shots at things like Nathan's weight, but you see Nathan has shirtless scenes in this one and so my intelligence is impeded when all the blood rushes out of my head and into my-
#metalocalypse#jay talkin#I LOVE TOKI'S LEMON EATING CHALLENGE HES ON IN THIS EP. BABY YR STRANGE AND PECULIAR#pickles being insecure abt balding is funny too. my man has chosen a hairstyle that is actively making that worse for himself#buddy if u didnt have whiteguy dreads impromise yr hair wld be healthier. but we love u for yr octopus swag anyway <3#also hi nathan dont listen to the tv listen to me you look great. hi hello. im unsheathing my sword to cut down anyone who makes u feel bad#EVERYBODY IN UNIVERSE IS A COWARD. ITS BIG BOY SEASON. COME GET U ONE#dethvanity isnt in my list of favs i think most its humour is rlly easy lowballs but i find it funny for reasons outside of that#which is namely the show trying to make charavters insecure abt things when they absolutely are not any other time lmao#trying to find things to make skwis and toki insecure abt but theres NOTHING. ITS RLLY FUNNY#listen. putting my hand on everyones shoulder. lets not ignore the elephant in the room this show is uh#OFTEN VERY FATPHOBIC. so its no bastion of rep just cuz it doesnt take all the pot shots it cld at nathans body#it still does take some and theres plently of fatphobia outside of nathans character#but i do like that nathan is a bigger guy and outside of a few eps thats just treated as smth fine! its not remarked on outside of those!#and i think his body is drawn really well and i like that hes permitted to be sexy and to be like. seen with his body out just as much#as like anyone else in the band. like yeah duh nathan explosion is sexy in universe ppl are rocking with this. AS THEY SHOULD BE#idk like i say. not denying the show its fatphobia just saying i like how nathan is treated and portrayed a lot of the time :]

@sleepysturnss
rain patters against the windows mercilessly as the tv drones on, interrupted only by booming thunder every few minutes.
its late in the day now, and the cloud coverage makes it extra gloomy, even with interior lights on. not that this bothers you.
storms have always been a source of comfort in your eyes. something about them makes you feel safe, reminds you that the world is far bigger than whatever is worrying you.
“oh, i’ve been meaning to ask if you’re still seeing that guy. what’s his name again?” nick asks from beside you, scrolling mindlessly on his phone as he slumps against the couch.
you’ve been sitting like this for hours together, rotting in his living room while it continues to pour outside.
“it’s luke, and no, i’m not talking to him anymore.” you reply, trying to sound as casual as possible.
he looks up at you now, clearly a bit shocked to be hearing this. “please tell me it’s not because of my bitch ass brother.”
you bark out a laugh before you can stop yourself, mostly due to the fact that it’s absolutely because of matt. just not for the reason he thinks.
“as if. it was my decision, don’t worry.”
this is only half true. you did cut the poor guy off, but only because matt had essentially instructed you to do so before you guys had sex for the first time a month ago.
and then you hooked up again. and again. and a couple more times after that. neither of you could stop coming back for more apparently.
none of your friends know yet. as much as you want to be honest with them, you haven’t really talked about the details of this little situation. you’re almost positive matt hasn’t been seeing anyone else, but you also haven’t outright asked.
and there’s no use telling everyone about something that might not even be real.
“what made you do that? was the sex bad? is he an asshole?” nick interrogates further, clicking his phone off so his full attention is on you.
you can’t tell if he’s suspicious or if you’re just genuinely paranoid, but you don’t like this line of questioning either way.
“no he’s fine, he just wasn’t doing it. and his breath always smelled for some reason.” you’re lying through your teeth, but his face morphs into an expression of disgust like he’s buying it.
“ew, major turn off.”
“you’re telling me.”
nick sighs and snuggles further into the cushions, resting his head on your shoulder as he stares at the tv.
“well for what it’s worth, i’m sorry it didn’t work out. but who knows, maybe you’ll meet someone sexy at nathan’s tomorrow.” he says.
“yeah, maybe.” you feed into the hypothetical, even though you know that won’t be happening.
at least not if matt sturniolo has a say in it.
-
your music is playing softly over the speaker as you get ready, perched in front of your vanity like a doll. you’ve just finished your makeup when you hear a singular tap on the door.
“can you hurry it up in here?” matt calls as he pushes it open slightly.
you find it funny that he’s always sure to knock, ever since he walked in on you naked that fateful afternoon. even though you’re literally sleeping together now, he makes it a point to not invade your privacy.
“can’t rush perfection, matthew.” you taunt him as you put your palette and brushes back in their rightful place.
he moves further into your room, walking over to stand behind you. he’s dressed up in jeans and that black muscle tee you love so much, tattoos on display as his hands go to knead your shoulders lightly.
“you do look amazing.” he compliments.
“likewise.” you reply before meeting his searing gaze in the reflection of the mirror.
he increases his pressure slightly, digging his fingers into your neck in a steady pattern. you already know what he’s angling at and he hasn’t even spoken.
“you know, we could just stay home.” matt suggests with a smirk.
“c’mon, we can’t keep ditching our friends. they’re gonna get suspicious at some point.” you shake your head and stand up, because the massage is starting to feel a little too good.
“nobody cared when we left early last time.”
you cross your arms over your chest and turn to give him a pointed look. “because you convinced them that i was sick.”
“so i’ll just tell them a different lie.” he shrugs.
“oh my god, i am going to this party with or without you, so you better make up your mind before the uber gets here.” you say over your shoulder, headed out of your room toward the stairs.
“such a brat.” he grumbles, but you hear him following you regardless.
“only for you.”
two hours later you’re standing in the middle of nathan’s living room, dancing along with the typical crowd. nick and madi are on either side of you, both bopping around drunkenly to the beat.
you’ve had three shitty drinks at this point and your head feels a bit fuzzy. you’re positive your cheeks are flushed, which is actually kind of nice.
matt was with you minutes earlier, but he’s ventured off to get another drink. it’s selfish that you miss him every second he’s not around.
it’s just nice having him by your side. sure, it was kind of casual at first, and you didn’t think it was going to develop so quickly. but now whatever is going on between you means a whole lot more.
you like when he asks you to spend the night in his room, or when he saves the last can of redbull for you so you don’t go to work without caffeine. you like that he’s been replacing the flowers he got you every time they start die, the way he insists on driving you places even if it’s out of his way.
you just like him, and it’s more than casual. at least it is to you, and you can’t imagine that at this point he doesn’t feel the same.
but you don’t want to be the one to try and put a label on it. quite frankly, it scares the shit out of you, and you’re still not drunk enough to keep thinking about it in the middle of this party.
you see chris a few feet away against the wall, beer in his hand as he chats animatedly with nathan. you know he has what you’re looking for, so you shout that you’ll be back and head their direction.
they both smile at you as you approach, almost perfectly in sync.
“what’s up!” chris leans down a bit so you can hear him better.
“do you still have that joint you mentioned earlier?” you ask into his ear.
he nods happily, and nathan shoots you both a questioning glance. by the looks of his sleepy eyes, he’s probably already crossed.
“we’re going to smoke!” you fill him in, motioning toward the front door.
nathan nods and tells you he’ll stay back, so the two of you shuffle your way out of the living room, trying to avoid bumping into as many people as possible.
you pass the kitchen, and as your eyes scan the people you spot matt huddled in the corner. he’s talking to a very obviously enthusiastic girl, one that you don’t recognize. your stomach drops at the sight of them, and you hate it.
he doesn’t see you, so you turn your head and keep following behind chris. he’ll stop talking to her soon. he’ll probably even come looking for you instead.
right?
the crowd thins as out by the door, and the two of your step out into the fresh air moments later. the street is relatively quiet, and once the door is shut the noise of the party is muffled. there’s nobody else outside, and you’re grateful.
the other townhouses stare at you as chris crosses the short driveway so he can hide underneath the tree in the yard. you follow his lead, watching as he fishes the lighter and joint out of his front pocket.
“keeping it handy, huh?” you joke.
“you caught me at the right time, i just packed it upstairs.” he smiles before putting it between his lips.
the flame burns the end as he takes a hit, exhaling up toward the sky. you pass it back and forth in silence, both enjoying the momentary break from socialization.
chris clears his throat a minute later, nudging at the grass with his toe absentmindedly. “so, i have a question to ask you.”
he looks over so he can hand the joint back, and your hands shake ever so slightly as you reach out to take it.
“yeah?”
“i think matt is seeing someone. do you know anything about that?” he asks bluntly.
you try to remain calm as you shake your head at him, though it seems impossible. you aren’t prepared for this at all.
“uh, no?”
chris smiles just a little bit, like he’s already got you right where he wants you. “so he doesn’t bring anyone over? it’s just the two of you?”
your narrow your eyes at him. “just ask what you want to ask.”
“are you guys together?”
there it is. you were expecting it this time, and it still makes your stomach flip.
“no. i mean, kind of? we’re not like, dating. we’re just…uh…hooking up.” you’re trying so hard to figure out how to put it that it sounds horrible.
he just laughs. “no you’re not. that kid is in love with you.”
your jaw drops slightly in surprise, and this only makes chris chuckle harder.
“what the fuck are you talking about?” you ask him once he finally calms down.
“i’ve seen how he’s acting lately. so fucking goofy, like he’s got his head in the clouds. he only ever gets all dopey like that when he really likes someone, and i kind of suspected it was you.”
it’s hard to find any words. there’s simply nothing on your brain, no coherent thought to be found. chris gives you a playful nudge.
“it’s okay, i won’t tell anyone if you don’t want me to. but i think you feel the same.” he makes a guess, and he’s very accurate.
you look away as you take your final hit, trying to decide how you want to respond. you exhale the smoke and pass the remainder of the joint back to him.
“okay, you got me. i do want it to be like, a real relationship. and i’ll talk to him about it soon, i promise. just please don’t tell anyone until i do.” you plead.
he wraps an arm around your shoulder, pulling you into a side hug. you relax into him, and you have to admit you’re a bit relieved that at least somebody knows now.
“of course not. i’m here to support you both whenever you’re ready. everyone else will be too.”
“thank you. that makes me feel a lot better, seriously.” you say truthfully as he pulls away.
“good.” he nods in satisfaction, giving you a loopy grin.
“i’ve mooched enough, so i’m gonna go back inside, but thanks again. i owe you a blunt for the reality check.” you point a finger at him as you back up off of the grass.
“i’ll never turn that down.”
the high has taken over as you spin around to walk normally, and it’s nearly impossible to stop smiling. having confirmation that you’re not crazy for feeling the way that you do is wonderful.
you head back inside the house, almost positive that you’d find matt hanging out somewhere with your friends.
but as you pass the kitchen again, you spot him in the same place, leaned up against the end of the counter with a solo cup in hand. it seems like the girl is even closer than she was before.
your face falls immediately. it makes you angry that it’s been so long and he still hasn’t told her to get lost yet. if he wants to be all possessive over you, then you shouldn’t have to act so cool for him.
you’re certainly not feeling collected right now. and he deserves to know that.
you wedge your way around the people chatting and pouring themselves drinks without a second thought. matt sees you coming before you actually reach him, and he looks confused by your irritated expression.
you wrap your fingers around his arm wordlessly, right in the middle of the nameless girl’s sentence. he doesn’t put up a fight. in fact, he’s practically hot on your heels as you pull him back toward the hall.
“uh—hey! we were talking bitch!” she shouts after you.
“don’t care.” you don’t even give her the satisfaction of making eye contact.
there’s really no point. matt is trailing behind you like a puppy, and that’s all that matters. he clearly doesn’t want to be there any more than you want him to.
“what’s going on?” he asks as you maneuver around the outside of the crowded living room, making a beeline for the staircase.
it’s taped off to everyone except your group, in case of emergency.
this feels like one, considering you don’t even care if anyone sees you together. you don’t respond, you just let go of his hand and step over the thin barrier, glancing behind you to see if he’ll follow.
there’s a curious look in his eye, but he does the same.
you continue up the stairs, making sure he has the perfect view of your ass as you go. you can literally feel him staring, which only stokes the fire.
“are you taunting me right now?” matt asks as you reach the second floor.
this makes you pause, and you turn around so you can wrap your hand in his shirt. you yank him into the bathroom, slapping the light switch on with your free hand.
you close the door behind you, which suppresses the booming sound of nathan’s music playing through the speakers.
“what the hell is this?” you uncurl your fist and shove his chest to put some space between you.
his eyebrows shoot up in surprise as he regains his balance and sets his cup down on the counter. you realize you probably spilled some of it by dragging him around, but that’s not your main focus right now.
“what do you mean?”
“don’t you dare play dumb. you can’t stand it when anyone else even breathes near me, so why would you think that i would be okay watching you flirt with some random girl for fifteen minutes? you either want me or you fucking don’t, matt.” you spit, crossing your arms over your chest defensively.
it’s shocking that you’re being this honest with him, but you’re faded and you’ve been pushed beyond your limit.
no use tip-toeing around it now.
“you think just because she came up to me that somehow means i don’t want you?” he asks, and there’s more of an edge to his tone now.
“how am i supposed to know? we haven’t talked about it, whatever this is.” you wave your hand back and forth between the two of you.
a look of understanding passes over his face. “oh, this is about labels, huh?”
this infuriates you more, because that’s not even the point you’re trying to make. he’s aggravatingly calm right now, like he’s so sure of himself.
“look, if you don’t want to be in a real relationship with me, then fine. i don’t care. but i’m not gonna keep exclusively sleeping with just you if that’s the case.”
matt is silent for a moment, eyes darting across your face. you can see him gazing at your lips, and it drives you crazy.
he takes one step forward, staring you down with those pretty blue eyes. even though your height different is relatively small, it still feels like he’s towering above you.
“are you really trying to tell me you wouldn’t care at all if i wanted to see other people?” he asks quietly.
his face is so close, and you breathe in his familiar smoky cologne. it’s dizzying, being this overwhelmingly attracted to someone.
“of course i’d be upset, but there’s not much i can do about it if you don’t feel the same.” your voice is hushed now too, and you wish you didn’t sound so weak.
matt cups your chin gently with one hand, forcing you to keep your focus on him. your heart is slamming against your ribcage now, begging for some kind of relief.
“i want to be with you so bad that it kills me.” he finally admits.
it’s your turn to be stunned, and you stay completely still as his thumb grazes over your bottom lip slowly.
“i had this whole thing planned, i was going to take you to a fancy little restaurant and ask you out like a gentleman. but you just couldn’t wait, could you?” his voice is husky, pupils blown out in lust.
“i…really?” you ask breathlessly.
“really. so what do you think? you wanna be mine?” he goads with a smirk, gripping your face a bit tighter.
it’s normally hard to swallow your pride, especially with matt, but you’re so vulnerable in this moment you can’t tell him anything besides the truth.
“i do.”
“good, because you already are.” he growls before closing the gap between you, lips crashing against yours.
he tastes sweet, like the soda he’s been mixing with vodka all night. it’s a pleasant mess of teeth and tongue as you deepen the kiss, passionate in a way that you’ve never experienced with him before.
his hands travel down to grab at your hips, pressing against you so your lower back bumps against the sink. you tangle your fingers in his hair, pulling enough to elicit a groan.
it vibrates against your mouth, and you feel yourself throb just from that little noise alone. he’s normally not very vocal, but you bring it out of him.
matt’s hands slide up your body, finding their way under the hem of your sheer lace top. his cold rings press against your stomach as he slowly inches higher, leaving goosebumps in their wake. you let go of him, throwing your hands upwards so he can peel the shirt over your head.
“so fucking pretty, just for me.” matt praises as he tucks your hair behind your ear, attaching his lips to your neck seconds later.
you tilt your head back to give him a better angle, sighing in pleasure as he nips at the soft skin. one hand is feeling up your chest as his teeth dig into your collar, tongue sliding over the marks he’s leaving in an attempt to soothe the irritated areas.
you move your own fingers down between both of your bodies, ghosting them over the crotch of his jeans, palming him just a bit. his dick is already straining against your hand, and he hisses a string of curses into your shoulder.
“no more teasing tonight, i need you now.” he grumbles, already out of breath as his hands travel to undo the button of your pants.
you take the lead and slide them down yourself, tearing your thin panties off with them because you want him just as much. it doesn’t seem fair that you’re the only one exposed, so you tug his muscle tee upwards in desperation.
matt doesn’t protest, he just tosses it to the floor with the rest of your discarded clothes. you let your fingers rake over his skin, down his abdomen and over his happy trail until your fingers meet the waistline of his jeans.
you glance up at him through your lashes as you unbuckle his belt, entirely naked now, and he swears he could finish just by looking at you.
the sensation of your hands skimming against his thighs as you drag his jeans and boxers to his ankles makes him twitch. nobody has ever turned him on the way you do, and it’s frightening how good you make him feel.
but you always enjoy everything just as much, because he’s the best dick you’ve ever had. perfect length, enough girth to stretch you out, and he knows exactly how to move to your liking. matt even keeps it trimmed nicely.
the tip glistens with precum, and you pull your hair back with one hand like you’re getting ready to put it in your mouth.
“no, stand back up baby.” he instructs, and the commanding note in his voice makes you push yourself off your knees, extending to your full height.
matt turns you around so you’re facing the mirror, one hand on your side and the other on your back as he forces you to bend at the waist. your forearms press flat against the cool marble counter, and the assertiveness of it all sends a jolt of excitement right to your core.
his palm comes down on the curve of your ass without warning, just hard enough to sting. you let out a whimper, arching your back more as you gaze at him through the reflection.
he pulls his bottom lip between his teeth, smoothing his hand over the place he just hit. his eyes are so dark, so full of desire that it just solidifies the way you feel about him.
“you like that? you want me to be rough?” matt leans over you, cock pressed against you as he speaks into your ear.
“please.” you whine, shifting your hips to try and feel more of him, to feel anything.
he stops your movements immediately and smacks your ass again, this time on the opposite side. it makes you groan in delight, almost involuntarily.
“you’re gonna look at yourself while i fuck you, got it princess?” he says, backing up just a bit so he can take his dick into his own hand and pump a few times.
you nod as you feel him line himself up at your entrance, and you know that at this angle you’re perfectly on display for him.
he pushes himself inside of you in one fluid motion, and you gasp as his fingers squeeze your hip. matt doesn’t give you time to adjust to him like normal. instead he immediately starts to pick up speed, wrapping your hair in his free hand so you can’t look anywhere else besides in front of you.
your lips are parted as you moan, eyes fluttering at the stimulation. you can hear matt grunting behind you, a deliciously dirty sound.
“look at how pretty you are, taking me so well. all fucking mine.” he marvels, rocking your body against him even harder.
skin slaps together, and his pace is making your legs tremble. you can feel the party raging on underneath you, and it’s strangely even hotter in this setting.
“shit, you fill me up so good matt.” you tell him, catching his eyes for a second before he throws his head back.
“fuck.”
he’s hitting it so well, and you can feel yourself tightening around him with every stroke. it’s turning him into an even bigger mess.
“god, if you keep that up i’m not gonna last much longer.” he warns, bucking his hips into you at a slightly different angle.
you cry out at the new sensation, a guttural noise that you didn’t even know you could make.
“i’m so close, right there babe.”
matt listens perfectly, using the hand on your waist to guide you so that you bounce against his thighs in the same spot. you’re a whining mess, and you can’t keep looking in the mirror.
you feel the tears as your eyes screw shut. the fire in your stomach is growing, spreading throughout your whole body. he tugs your roots a little bit more.
“come all over my dick, pretty girl. it’s all yours.”
his words are what send you over the edge, and your body shudders as you feel yourself giving in to the high, releasing all over him.
“fuck, matt, stay inside.” you pant, and he groans loudly.
two more sloppy strokes and you feel him tense, filling you up as he finishes. matt lets go of your hair, dragging his fingers along your shoulders, you back. you look so fucked out, makeup smudged slightly under your eyes, and you both love it.
he pulls out slowly, giving you one last tiny pat on your ass.
you’ve both got stars in your eyes as you stand, and you can feel the wetness pool against your thighs. thank god you’re on birth control. this was a special occasion anyways.
you turn, and matt immediately pulls you in for a kiss. you smile slightly, because you can’t help it.
“come on, i need to get cleaned up.” you pull away slightly.
“fine.” he sighs, but he lets you go regardless.
you wipe yourself off with some toilet paper quickly and flush it while he redresses. you two have been missing for minute now.
you guess it doesn’t really matter. sure, you should probably be discrete about having sex around your friends. but you’re also together. officially.
“so, does this mean i can tell the other girls in your dms to fuck off?” you joke as you put your underwear back on, shimmying into your jeans next.
“you can honestly tell them whatever you want.” matt runs a hand through his hair, smiling at you like a fucking goofball.
you’re just situating your shirt into place when the door comes swinging open, revealing a very drunk nathan. you and matt freeze, completely unsure what to do.
his eyes go wide as he realizes what’s going on, mouth hanging open like he can’t believe it.
“woah. no fucking way”

intelligence & issues (Hotch x Reader) -- chapter eleven
I’m backkkk <33 Enjoy!
Today’s chapter title comes from “Wildest Dreams” by Taylor Swift and honestly? That song is Hotch and Reader’s song tbh
Chapter Warnings: fluff! Crime scene stuffs, case stuffs, and Hotch is an asshole at the end (what’s new?)
Previous chapter || Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media
Chapter Eleven: I thought, “Heaven can’t help me now.”
When you wake, you have a strange sense of Deja Vu. Hotch is shaking your shoulder again, only this time, you’re not in your bed.
“We’re landing soon,” he says softly, hand lingering on your shoulder, but you welcome its weight and warmth, forgetting for a moment that the rest of the team is on this jet.
“Mm, okay…” You bring the blanket underneath your chin, only this is when you realize it’s not a blanket.
You tilt your head down to look at the fabric, then lift your eyes back up to see Hotch isn’t wearing his jacket.
His jacket.
Oh my God.
He sees the realization on your face and smiles, but instead of commenting on it, he turns to start waking the others. As expected, Rossi didn’t sleep, but Reid is still quite frankly passed out. Emily, JJ, and Morgan are coming around, though, and upon seeing that, you scramble to get Hotch’s jacket off of you, catching Rossi’s eyes in the process.
“You were cold,” Rossi says with a shrug, and a smirk.
You shouldn’t be mortified, but you are.
After folding Hotch’s jacket over your arm, you wait until your boss is sitting back down to hand it to him with a raised eyebrow. “Thank you,” you whisper.
“You’re welcome,” he says, thinking nothing of it as he shrugs it back over his shoulders. When he sees you’re still looking at him like that, he adds, “You were getting goosebumps. Would you have rather I let you freeze to death?”
Is he making a joke? You wonder, with the corners of his lips tugging upward. You shake your head, saying nothing else.
No wonder you slept so soundly.
+++
Upon arriving at the local police station, you’re all met with the usual: desperate officers who want you to snap your fingers and find the unsub ASAP.
And, they always look pretty displeased when you admit that you need time.
You swear sometimes people think the BAU is made up of sorcerers who can see the future and not regular humans who are just trained to recognize and predict behaviors.
Regardless, they’re happy you’re here.
“I was shocked myself when I made the connection,” Sheriff Ansley says, nodding to the pictures of the other seven victims, with Nathan and Jonathan at the end. “Those others were so spaced out, we just… Oh, it sounds bad, but when you’ve got other problems coming across your desk, they can all blur together.”
“We understand,” you say, trying to be the comforting one here, even though you’re feeling more and more like time doesn’t exist and that you’ve entered a third dimension.
A few hours of sleep and jet lag can really do a person in. Especially with the added stressor of Hotch standing next to you.
“Morgan, L/N, I need you to come to the crime scene with me,” Hotch says, and your eyes widen the moment your name slips from his mouth. Is he trying to mess with you? You figured after covering you up on the jet, he’d make a conscious effort to be as far away from you today as possible. Just because Morgan is also coming along doesn’t mean much. Profilers aren’t dense.
“Prentiss and I will go talk to the victim’s family,” Rossi says, nodding to Emily.
Reid says nothing, too engrossed by the pictures and details tacked up on the board. Though, after a moment, he says, “I need a map of the town. Maybe the region. Yeah...the region.”
A little confused, Sheriff Ansely replies, “We’ll get that for you.”
JJ notices the confusion and says, “I’ve got it, don’t worry.”
With everyone focused, you pile into a vehicle with Hotch and Morgan up front (you purposefully sit in the back) to head to the crime scene. Sheriff Ansley leads in her car, and about two seconds in, you wish you would’ve thought to ride with her.
“You know I have to ask,” Morgan begins, a shit-eating grin on his face as he looks over at Hotch. “What did you get up to last night? Get lucky?”
Hotch looks ready to backhand his fellow agent. “No.”
Morgan keeps going. “Come on, Hotch, it’s about time you get some.”
“For now, I’ll stick to the case.”
Morgan huffs, giving in, which you think is for the better. But when Morgan turns his head to look out the window, Hotch catches your eyes in the rearview mirror.
You sink as far down as you can in your seat, biting the inside of your cheek to hide your smile.

You have no clue what you were expecting when you pictured the outside of Jonathan King’s house, but it wasn’t this.
A few police cars are already here, their men having already gone in to look around, but not touch anything. A few cars look tiny next to the monster that is the mansion you’re looking at.
“I thought this was a small town,” you mutter, closing the car door.
“Jonathan’s daddy was the owner of the only car dealership in town,” Sheriff Ansley explains. “They were big money.”
“I can tell,” you shake your head. “Definitely don’t have houses like this where I’m from.”
The sheriff chuckles. “Yeah. Before they built it, this was a wide open field. Tiny house. Space for all kinds of animals. Had a red barn out there,” she points off to where a gigantic pool complete with a rock waterfall is.
You hum. “A lot changes for the worse sometimes when money comes in.”
She looks at you then, almost like she respects you a little more now. Which isn’t unusual. The sheriffs in small towns don’t exactly like having to call the FBI in for help. Some do it rather begrudgingly. It’s more often than not that you find yourself being the bridge between big city and small town.
“Any signs of forced entry?” Hotch asks the first officer he sees and they shake their head.
“Nothing. But this damn mansion is so big…” He trails away, looking around at it all.
“I understand,” Hotch sighs. “If you find anything, let us know.”
“Hotch,” you speak up, nearly tapping his shoulder, but you quickly pull your hand back. “If this unsub is a woman, then it’s likely there won’t be any forced entry.”
The sheriff nods. “She has a point.”
“How?” Morgan asks, eyebrows furrowed over his sunglasses.
“Seriously?” You deadpan. “Do you want me to demonstrate?”
He catches on, and drawls, “Go right ahead,” prompting you to shove his shoulder.
“Focus,” Hotch scolds. “I hear you. He probably let her in.”
“Did Jonathan have a reputation of being a player?” Morgan asks. “Take a lot of girls out on dates? Get serious with a lot of them but never marriage-serious?”
Sheriff Ansley nearly snorts. “Oh, yeah. He was the town’s bachelor. New woman every week. Swore every single one was The One.”
You nod slowly. “He must’ve picked up the wrong one, then.”
“Evidently so,” she replies quietly, leading the three of you into the house.
Hotch opts for looking around the house with the sheriff while you and Morgan go to Jonathan’s bedroom.
And he’s still lying there. Wonderful.
You nearly gag, but stop yourself. You’re never going to get used to this shit. At least there isn’t blood literally drenching the walls like that other case.
Moving on.
“Looks like it’s the exact same MO,” Morgan comments, idly checking the body for anything the officers might’ve missed.
You dig around on Jonathan’s dresser, drawers, nightstand, everywhere.
“This guy was seriously rich,” you mutter, picking up a few really expensive watches. Upon opening one drawer, you literally find a wad of cash. At least two thousand dollars, stuffed in between pairs of socks. “The unsub didn’t take this?” You hold up the cash to Morgan.
“She must not’ve spent time here,” he concludes. “Doesn’t look like she took any trophies either.”
“I can’t imagine why,” you say, then crack a smile. “So you’re on my side then, huh?”
He turns his head, eyebrows furrowed. “What?”
“It’s a woman.”
Morgan chuckles. “Yeah, kiddo. I’m on your side. This has woman all over it.”
“Kiddo,” you groan, tossing the cash back in the drawer. “Any clothes from the unsub lying around? I’m guessing she’s smarter than that.”
“Yeah, there’s nothing,” Morgan says, going into the bathroom. “The window in here is locked tight.”
“I really doubt she forced her way in,” you say. “He probably took her out on a date, brought her inside willingly, and didn’t realize until it was too late that he should not have messed with her.” You pause. “Does this place have security cameras? It looks expensive enough to have them. We should get Garcia to get the footage.”
You’re too busy rambling to see that Morgan has walked back into the room, only this time he’s eyeing you carefully.
You turn your head, raising an eyebrow at him. “What?”
“Listen, I know these guys were…” He gestures rather than saying it.
“Rapists?” You say tiredly, placing your hands on your hips. No need to be afraid of saying the word around you. You’ve heard it plenty and said it yourself more times than you want to. “What about it?”
“I just wanted to say I know how good it can feel to see someone like that taken down,” Morgan says slowly. “And then you feel guilty for feeling good.”
You set your jaw, hating he’s right. You’ve yet to admit it to yourself, though. Isn’t it wrong? On multiple levels? You’re supposed to catch the bad guys, not relate to them so much that you understand why they’re doing this.
“And I know it can also bring up some bad memories, but, I’m here for you,” he says, keeping his eyes on yours. “I mean that.”
“Thanks, Derek,” you whisper. “It does...kinda feel good, but...I know it’s the wrong way to do it.”
“Do what?”
“Make a difference,” you shrug. “If I killed Trevor, I’d be taking the short route. That’s why I’m here. To make a bigger difference.”
He smiles then, gently. “And you’re doin’ it. Trust me.”
You let yourself smile, too. “Thanks. Now let’s get back to work before boss man comes in here telling us to focus,” you mimic Hotch’s voice and tone at the end, making yourself laugh as you turn back around.
And that’s when you have the absolute shit scared out of you because Hotch is standing there, frowning at you. Oh, he totally heard that.
“Sorry, sir,” you murmur, knowing you should apologize while you’re ahead.
Thankfully, to save yourself from embarrassment, Morgan’s phone starts ringing. He pulls it out and puts it on speaker.
“Talk to me, babygirl.”
“All of our other victims? Yeah, they were accused of rape, too. Four of them were acquitted or blatantly dismissed, three of them with such short sentences it probably felt like a vacation.”
You roll your eyes. “Sounds about right.”
Hotch eyes you, but talks to Garcia. “Get us a list of anyone in this region that fits those same criteria.”
“Already done, and it is heading to JJ as we speak.”
Morgan shakes his head at how good she is. “Oh, and check and see if you can get the footage from Jonathan’s security cameras at his house. Y/N thinks he should have some.”
“She’s correct, I just found them,” Garcia says, no doubt through a smile. “I’ll send the footage over and start looking.”
“We should get back to the station and go over those names, see if we can narrow it down at all,” Hotch says. “Hopefully Garcia can get us something from that video.”
+++
Garcia gathers one thing from the video, but it’s not anything to do with facial recognition.
For now, it’s obvious this woman is a strong suspect because she’s the only one seen entering and leaving the house (she walked out right through the front door with her head down) in the window of time that Jonathan was killed. But...
“There’s not a clear shot at all,” Garcia says. “Because they’re… How do I put this? His lips are basically attacking her face and it’s a miracle they made it inside instead of just going at it against the door.”
Morgan snorts out a laugh, Reid (who is working on connecting the nine victims further) goes impossibly red, and Hotch shakes his head.
“Well, we’ve got a physical description now,” Rossi says, trying to see the bright side before Hotch loses it, you’re sure.
“Yeah, but it’s just a young brunette in a dress and heels,” Emily argues. “That’s nowhere near narrow enough.”
“Brown hair is actually the second most common hair color,” Reid supplies. “The most common is black, but they’re usually lumped together in studies. A recent one found that 84% of the world’s population has dark hair. But, of course, women are more likely to color their hair than men—”
“We got it, kid,” Morgan says gently, tapping Reid’s shoulder to get him to slow down.
“So,” you chuckle, “she has dark hair, which are the two most common hair colors.” Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a thought occurs to you. “Wait, can I see the video again?”
Garcia plays it again.
“Pause there,” you point to the woman’s hands. “See how she reaches for his wrist?”
“Where are you going with this?” Morgan asks.
It’s then that it occurs to you just where you’re going with this, and you try to hide your embarrassment.
“You can play it again.” After a few seconds, you get Garcia to pause again. “See? She tries to pin his wrists. She’s dominating. She’s the one in control there. See how his back is against the door, too? He didn’t start that way, she turned them around to get the upper hand.”
“So she’s confident,” Emily ponders.
“In sexual situations, at least,” you add. “Some women who are outwardly shy, but like to dominate in bed. It can be different for everyone.”
“So you’re saying we’re looking for a super quiet, shy woman?”
“Not necessarily. Given that she has had enough confidence to kill these nine men without anyone noticing, I’d be willing to bet she’s pretty confident now. It could be a newfound confidence, or she honestly could have always been this way. A lot of Dominatrixes are pretty confident outside of the bedroom, too. Maybe not in the same way, but they are. Just comes with the territory.”
“A territory you seem to know a lot about,” Morgan teases, poking your shoulder.
You scoff. “You wish.”
But your eyes find Hotch’s and you feel another rush go through you, all the way to your toes. You burn every single time you’re underneath his gaze. Averting your eyes quickly back to the screen, you try to shift in your seat in the least noticeable way.
It’s not like he doesn’t already know. If he seriously doesn’t know or at least have some suspicion, then you might suggest he get a new profession.
Redirecting the attention back to the case, Hotch turns to Sheriff Ansley and says, “We’re ready to give a preliminary profile.”
The team stands to head out to the main area. You and Hotch are the last two left, which you’re sure he did deliberately.
“You should take the lead,” he says, and you swear, your heart falls out of your ass.
“What?” You’ve never taken the lead on a profile in your life. Why would he just spring this on you right now? On this case, of all cases? Seriously?
He doesn’t change his mind. “I trust you to get all of the details right. And we’ll jump in when needed, but I want you to take the lead.”
You’re shaking your head. “Hotch, I haven’t—”
“It’s an order,” he says, voice firm. “Understood?”
“Yes.”
He raises an eyebrow. “Yes what?”
Bastard. He did it again. “Yes sir.”
And your jaw nearly ends up on the floor when he smirks, a quiet, “Good girl,” falling from his lips.
Damn him. Now you’re supposed to give the profile? How bad would it be to let Emily take over so you can jump Hotch in the nearest supply closet?
You never find out how bad it would be because Hotch walks out and thanks the officers for being there, and introduces you, giving you zero time to recover.
“Thank you so much for your patience,” you say first. “The unsub we’re looking for is, in fact, a woman, confirmed by some security footage that was recovered from Jonathan King’s home. She’s a brunette, average height, attractive, and she’s confident. She’s killed nine times and hasn’t been caught yet, so she’s likely to be gaining confidence.”
An officer raises his hand, so you nod to him. “No offense...but your description fits practically every girl in this town -- I guess, besides the killing part.”
“That’s what we figured,” you admit. “Unfortunately, this kind of unsub is the hardest to catch. They don’t stand out at all, they blend right in. It’s partly why they go so long without being caught.”
“But they’re not impossible to catch,” Rossi adds, helping you out with the annoyed officers. “This unsub has already killed twice in a week, which could be a sign that she’s beginning to devolve. When they’re in this state, they are easier to catch because they tend to get reckless and forget things, change patterns, which is what we need.”
“So we need to keep a tight lid on this for now,” JJ says. “The media isn’t going to cover this at all tonight because we need our unsub to believe she’s still getting away with it.”
Another officer pipes up. “If the news isn’t gonna report this, how can we keep people safe?”
It’s a valid question. It’s one that you always get when you decide to not have media coverage.
“Keep an eye out. And don’t take any women home,” Morgan offers.
But that doesn’t seem good enough, because the same officer says, “All due respect, sir, but asking a man not to do that is like asking him not to breathe.”
The amount of laughter and you got that right’s that you hear from the other male officers makes your stomach twist. Morgan’s small laugh makes you want to smack him.
“Well, try to refrain for a while,” you state plainly, bringing the focus back around. “If you can help it.”
Another officer says, “I don’t know if I can…” and clicks his tongue mockingly.
“Well, this unsub targets rapists,” you say loudly, placing emphasis on the word. “So if you aren’t a rapist, consider yourself safe and sound.”
That causes an uncomfortable silence to settle over the room, but you could care less. It should make them uncomfortable. It’s unfair that it’s something women have to just live with. It’s bullshit.
Emily and JJ share a look with you, the only kind women can understand. Makes you want a drink. And it’s not even late afternoon yet.
Rossi helps draw things to a close while Hotch practically stares you down. Not subtle at all. You feel it, and for that reason, you don’t look at him. But he’s hard to ignore.
Especially when he walks over and says, “I need to have a word with you,” and walks past you, giving you no choice but to follow.
Well, you could choose not to follow, but you’re not so sure you want to take your chances there. Not that the thrill of the idea doesn’t get you all excited, but now is not the time or place.
So, with your heart racing and your annoyance showing clearly on your face, you follow your boss to an office at the end of the hall. He’s waiting for you, already inside, and he doesn’t look happy.
What’s new?
He shuts the door behind you, his arms crossing over his chest again.
After a few moments of silence, you raise your eyebrows. “What?”
“Don’t be a brat,” he says sternly, causing your stomach to twist for different reason. “And don’t say what. You know what.”
You shake your head slowly. “I don’t, actually. That’s why I asked.”
He looks ready to absolutely devour you in the worst way possible, yet he doesn’t move. “I understand that after the case in your hometown—”
“God, why does everyone keep bringing that up?” You’re two seconds away from throwing your hands in the air like a child, but you stop yourself after the look he gives you.
“Because it just happened three weeks ago,” he replies, voice even. “And because it took a toll on you. That’s not something to be ashamed of, it’s just a fact.”
“You’ve never been up my ass about cases like this, not until you found out.”
“My knowing has not changed anything,” he says, and you think he might mean it. “And last I checked, this is your first case with a female unsub attacking rapists.”
You could punch him. You really want to punch him. “What’s your point?”
“I need to know that you can be objective,” he says. “I know you relate to our unsub. I know how easy it was for you to put yourself in her shoes. You did it almost immediately. I bet you knew it was a female unsub within the first few seconds of the debriefing.”
He’s right. Dammit. “And?”
“I need you to be on our side of this case.”
“I am!”
“Are you?” He counters. “If you knew who this unsub was, would you turn her in?”
“Are you suggesting—”
“Hypothetically.”
“Yes! For God’s sake, yes, I would turn her in.”
“Are you being honest with me?”
“What is wrong with you today?” You ask, crossing your arms over your chest. “If you have something else to say you might as well say it while we’re alone.”
He doesn’t move. Or say a single word.
So much for that.
“Look,” you uncross your arms, tired of fighting already. It’s exhausting on any normal day, but pair it with jet lag and it being between you and the man you obviously care for, and it’s a million times more exhausting. “Yes, I get where this unsub is coming from. Honestly, if it was legal and if there was a market for a job like what she’s doing, I probably would’ve gone into it instead of the FBI. But there isn’t. Because killing people is illegal. So I decided to go to the FBI to make a bigger difference— a real difference. Yes, I relate to the unsub. I get why she’s doing what she’s doing. But just because I get it doesn’t make it right.”
“Good,” he nods. “That’s all I needed to hear.”
You furrow your eyebrows. “I shouldn’t have even had to say it.”
The room falls silent.
Hotch sees it then, that look in your eyes. During the profile, it was all determination and confidence. When you entered the office, it was bratty and defiant.
Now, it’s hurt.
That’s all he sees. And frankly, that’s all you’re feeling.
Since he doesn’t say anything else, you take it upon yourself to say, “Excuse me,” and join the team in the conference room with only one question on your mind.
Does he not trust me at all?

O Christmas tree.
Henry Cavill x Single mother/Reader.
Words: 705
You were looking for a perfect Christmas tree but you have found the perfect man.
It is finally December, and your little son Nathan couldn’t be happier to go on a hunt for the perfect Christmas tree. Being freshly divorced it was important to you to have these magical moments with your little one. Especially now when he needs to feel you are there for him.
Hunting for the Christmas tree was easy. You have talked to Nathan before and agreed to take 6ft tall, natural Pine tree. You were talking to the owner of the farm when he can deliver the tree not realizing that your son had a small talk with a stranger.
“Excuse me Witcher, I think this tree is too small for you.”
Henry looked down, chuckled seeing 6-year-old boy with quite a serious face.
“Do you think so, little man? Aren’t you too little to know who the Witcher is?”
“My mummy won’t let me see your show but I‘ve seen the poster with your face. Mummy reads me the books sometimes. She is the best. I like Superman too, but the Witcher is sooo cool”
You have heard that your son is talking to the stranger, not knowing who this handsome man is. Gently, you took your son’s hand and apologized to the man for Nathan’s interference.
“I am sorry, he usually doesn’t bother people.”
“No problem at all. He gave me good advice to take a bigger tree. You have raised a very smart little man. “
“Thank you, Sir.” You felt your cheeks burning recognizing the handsome man.  You have read way too many smuts about him.
“I am Henry, not Sir, I am too young for that.” Henry smiled blushed, shy and completely fascinated by your beauty.
“I am Y/N and this is Nathan. I am sorry but we need to go. I hope you will listen to my son’s advice and get a bigger tree. That one is way too small. “
“I will definitely get a bigger tree now, my dog will eat that one for breakfast.”
Henry stood in the same spot for a few minutes watching you walk away. He could not believe how beautiful you are. He was a little bit sad, thinking you have probably had a husband. On the other hand,  he hadn’t spotted a wedding ring on your finger…
Meantime, You and little Nathan were waiting for the taxi at the pick-up point. Your car broke and your ex supposed to pick you up, but he wasn’t answering his phone. It was getting colder and darker. Nathan was getting tired too. You hold Nathan in your arms, praying the taxi will arrive soon. You couldn’t believe what are the odds to meet your celebrity crush on the Christmas tree farm. He was so handsome, tall, and his smile… Your thoughts were interrupted by your son's excited voice. Henry exit the farm and walked in your direction.
“Witcher, Witcher we need your magic, can you fix our car?  We need to get home, but my dad doesn’t live with us anymore, he can’t do it.” Your heart broke hearing your son's sad statement.
“Nathan, sweetheart we can’t ask that. I am sure Henry is busy.”
“Actually, I am not busy. I can take you home, but first I will need to get a hot chocolate, I am too cold.  Would you like to join me? “Henry looked directly at you hoping you will make his dreams come true. He knew now that you weren’t married and probably not in the relationship. He couldn’t let you go.
“Yes! I want chocolate! “Nathan cheered happily.
“Thank you for the offer. Are you sure though? We don’t want to intrude…” you answered shyly, not believing what is happening.
“Nonsense, I could use some company.” Ladies first…” Henry showed you the way to his car being a gentleman as always. The drive went smoothly, wasn’t awkward at all, it was like you and Henry knew each other for a long time. Henry might have been the gentleman from the outside but from inside, he started having dirty thoughts, wondering how you would look underneath him.
Once you have reached your destination, Nathan was already asleep in the backseat. Henry took the chocolate on the go and you guys spend a wonderful date in the car.

GREY'S ANATOMY PREFERENCE: THE MOMENT THEY REALIZE THEY ARE IN LOVE WITH YOU
A/N: I've been rewatching grey's and fell in love with the characters all over again. I'm thinking about doing a female edition to this so let me know what you guys think 💖
Tumblr media
Derek Shepherd → he would realize he loved you when he found you on an on call room, crying because of a patient’s diagnosis. You had gotten too close to that case, too involved even though he had warned you not to. To see you in such pain over someone else’s future, your compassion and the amount of care you showed to all of your patients, it made him see just how much he himself cared about you. How much he wanted to be the one by your side to comfort you when you needed.
“It’s so unfair, Derek. So unfair” you tried to contain your sobs, as he sat by your side at the floor, leaning his back against the bed. He had locked the door behind him, knowing you wouldn’t want anyone to see you like that. “She’s had cancer four times. Her children won’t come to visit. Her husband died years ago. She’s going to die all alone and there’s nothing I can do about it”
“Come here” he passed one of his arms around your shoulders and pulled you close, until you laid your head on his shoulder and he could hug you tightly. “She’s not going to be alone. You and I, we’ll be here for her” he kissed the top of your head, coming to terms with his feelings at last. “You and I” he mumbled, sighting.
Tumblr media
Mark Sloan → he would realize he loved you when after a long shift, he saw you drinking at Joe’s with your closest friends. From across the bar he heard you laugh and tell jokes, having real fun. That with the talent you showed at the hospital everyday would make him see that you were an amazing person, someone he would really like to be together with. Someone he could love deeply.
“Is this seat taken?” he asked while approaching the table you were on, having just gotten the courage to do so, as your friends had just left together. He couldn’t help but find beautiful the surprised look on your face.
You pointed to the said seat with your right hand, that held the drink. “What do I owe the pleasure, Doctor Sloan?” the small smile on your lips got to him.
“I thought you could use some company” he shrugged, sitting down and asking two more drinks to be delivered. His eyes were intensely focused on yours. “And please, call me Mark”
Tumblr media
Alex Karev → he would figure out his feelings for you because of a fight you two have. You were colleagues working on the same case and the fight would happen at the hospital, arguing in the corridors loudly enough for the nurses and other doctors around to have to come near and calm you both down. To see your determination, your fierceness in fighting him for what you thought was right, made him see how much of a strong person you were and it awakened things in him.
“You’re such a child! Did you know that, Alex Karev?” you shout at him, your fierce look locked in his eyes as you did so.
“And you're stupid, seems like we’re even” he had a smile on his lips and his hands on his waist, and the tone on his voice made your roll your eyes and turn around to leave. You could feel the eyes of all the members of the staff on you both. “So you’re walking away now? That’s mature” he spoke up.
“When you decide to see reason, page me” you said, without turning around. Your confidence made him actually laugh.
Tumblr media
Jackson Avery → he would realize he was in love with you when you stood up to him during a patient’s case, where he was making a mistake on purpose in a diagnosis, to test the interns and no one else in your class had the nerve to tell him so. You faced him in front of everyone else, with politeness and yet, confidence. He was so admired and proud of your attitude, that he later went to compliment you personally in private.
“It was a good thing, what you did back there” he said with a little smile on his lips, his hands inside the pockets of his jacket, since he had ended his shift and was about to leave. “None of the others dared to say anything, but you did”
“I had to” you looked down at your feet, embarrassed for receiving such a compliment from an attending. “The others wouldn’t say anything, so I couldn’t let the patient at risk just because you’re my boss”
“And that is why you’re scrubbing in with me tomorrow” he said, the smile on his lips getting bigger because of your words.
“Really? Thank you, doctor Avery!” you smiled brightly at him, finally looking him in the eye, letting your embarrassment aside.
“Perhaps after the surgery, I could take you to dinner” the plastic surgeon continued, and your eyes widened at that. Jackson Avery couldn’t just have asked you out. He chuckled by your expression, licking his lips for a brief moment. “I’ll see you tomorrow, (Y/N)” he turned around, and then walked away.
Tumblr media
Owen Hunt → he would realize he had feelings for you that went beyond friendship when he saw you speaking up to a patient that had been disrespecting you. He would notice your educated arguing, the patience and your responsibility and that would make him respect you even more. Afterwards, he would see how you had been hurt by the patients words though, and the pain it caused him would make him notice just how much and strongly he really liked you.
“It was quite rough in there” he got close to you in the corridor, leaning his back against the wall as yourself did. “You did good, in defending yourself”
“I had to” you sighted, arms crossed over your chest. “I’m doing my job just like everyone else here, I don’t deserve to be treated like that when all I’m doing is trying to help”
“Of course you didn’t deserve that. Some people they’re just…” Owen sighted, shrugging slightly.
“Stupid” you completed.
He chuckled, putting a hand on your shoulder and squeezing it lightly. “Yes, stupid. Don’t let them get to you”
Tumblr media
Atticus Lincoln → he would realize how he felt about you as you two were scrubbing into a long surgery together, washing your hands side by side and you would admit to be going through a rough time in your personal life, outside the hospital. The fact that you trusted him enough to tell him that, made him happy and proud of himself. He loved the idea of being close to you, of making you feel good and that’s what he intended to do.
“If you want, we could do something together tonight” he suggested, looking at you with warmth in his bright eyes. “Maybe watch a game, order some food or grab some drinks if you prefer”
You smiled at him, continuing to wash your hands. “I would love that, Link. Any of those things would be really great”
“Great” he replied, averting his eyes from yours as he could feel his cheeks burning a little. The fact that you would love those things with him made his day. “That’s really great”
As you two walked into the OR, all he wanted was the end of that shift so that he could spend time with you.
Tumblr media
Andrew Deluca → he would notice he had feelings for you when he has a nervous breakdown after a 48 hour shift, unstoppably trying to find a diagnosis for his patient, but having no success. You were the one who helped him, who made him eat and stood by him when others judged him for not being himself. You understood that he wanted to help, to be useful. And that meant the world to him.
“I-I have to find something, anything. I have to figure out what’s happening, (Y/N)” he stumbled on his words, hands on his hair as he took deep breaths, eyes running around the room as he felt like he was going to suffocate.
“Andrew, look at me” you got his hands in yours and made him look deeply into your eyes, smiling to try to give him some comfort. You hated to see him like that, so nervous. “We’re going to figure out what’s wrong. I'll help you. I’m here for you”
“Thank you, thank you” he passed his arms around you and hugged you tightly. You could feel his breath on your neck as you tightly hugged him back. He silently promised himself that after that craziness ended, he would tell you how he felt.
Tumblr media
Nathan Riggs → he would realize he had feelings for you when he would overhear you saying to Jackson that you felt slightly jealous of Meredith because of him. Because he had been asking her out. It shocked him, to know you felt that way. He had always thought you considered him like nothing more than a friend. But to know that you in fact wanted to go out with him, to know that you had interest, it changed everything.
“I overheard you speaking with Jackson” he said, when you entered the on call room he had just paged you to. Your eyes widened and you wanted to run away and he continued to speak. “You said you were jealous of Meredith”
“You weren’t supposed to hear that” you sighted heavily, embarrassment filling your whole being.
“I’m glad I did, though” he walked towards you, standing now just a few steps away. His proximity made a chill run through your spine. “Do you want to go out with me, (Y/N)?”
You smiled to yourself, still not believing that was actually happening. “You know I do”

So. Madison Russell. Godzilla vs Kong. Welcome to my ted talk.
From a writing perspective, they totally wasted her character. She, Josh, and Bernie were almost exclusively used just as a method of showing the audience what was happening "behind the scenes" at Apex. Pouring the whiskey on the computer was about the only thing of note they did, and even that didn't do much. Mechagodzilla was only slightly hindered by it, and if they'd just written Kong and Godzilla differently in the fight scene, they could have skipped the whiskey part entirely. They could have done so much with having people "on the inside" but Monarch as a greater organization barely had any presence at all, which negated the need to have people on the inside.
Maddie's steadfast insistence that Godzilla wasn't a bad guy at the beginning had so much potential, but it became the conspiracy thing instead. It felt less like she wanted to prove Godzilla wasn't turning against humans, and more like she and her new conspiracy friend wanted to crack open a shady organization, which was frustrating. If they wanted to depict her as someone who was forced to become competent at a young age, which was part of the serious, intense vibe I got from her, instead of the inexplicable personality shift, they should have showed her doing something to help. Getting in contact with her dad/Monarch, giving them evidence to begin a city wide evacuation outside the Apex Hong Kong HQ, messing something up or making it harder for the Apex people to get Mechagodzilla up and running—just, anything.
The fact is, we had Maddie being very proactive in KotM. Stealing the ORCA was the game changer. Instead of taking that to the next level in GvK and giving her an opportunity to continue that aspect of her character—that is, being someone who refuses to sit by when she can do something to help, even if it’s dangerous—they rendered her obsolete.
The movie wouldn't have significantly changed if you took her character out. If Bernie went by himself and ended up in Hong Kong, nothing would have changed, because Maddie didn't do anything of personal importance. She went from being an active character in KotM to being a passive one here, which are a pet peeve of mine. If you saw my post about what I liked and didn’t like about Godzilla (2014), that might sound very familiar.
It would also have made so much more sense if she developed a love for studying Titans instead of focusing on conspiracy theories. Plot-wise, it would have given her claim to her dad that Godzilla was being provoked more credence, and could’ve opened an interesting dialogue between them to reinforce that she knows what she’s talking about. Monarch was obviously still a big part of their lives, given that Mark had rejoined, so it would’ve been the perfect opportunity for Maddie to pursue a Titan-related future.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I loved Jia, and wouldn’t want to take her out of the movie or even diminish her presence in it. In fact, I think they should have focused on Jia, and only on Jia.
Hear me out: Godzilla vs Kong should’ve been split in two. A Part 1 and Part 2 situation.
For Part 1, we keep a lot of the GvK canon, especially the Kong-centric stuff. Include even more scenes showing us that he’s protective of Jia, don’t just have Dr. Andrews say that he is. Have him defend her from something dangerous, maybe even from some humans. Include their backstory, how he saved her during the storm. And start it even earlier, before Godzilla attacks Apex the first time. Keep the whole Hollow Earth plot, keep the fight scene in the ocean, keep the discovery of the temple and the axe.
And on the Godzilla side of things, start earlier on that as well. Keep the other Titans in, have humanity tentatively believing that a time of great peace is upon them. Their mere presence is restoring the planet. There was an emphasis of nature, particularly in relation to the Titans, in KotM that I really think they should have included more of in GvK to better tie the two movies together, if only they hadn’t swept all the other Titans under the rug. They wanted a movie about a fight, not about the Titans. So, undo that. Show us a little of what Mark does, do a sweep of the other KotM cast (cameos at the very least) to show how they and Monarch are working to uphold that peace post-Boston. I’d also have loved to see Boston itself, too, five years later.
Instead of giving us a Generic High School scene, show Maddie learning about the Titans alongside the experts. Bring back the wonder and amazement she had when she saw Mothra for the first time, when she reached out and touched her. She’s second generation Monarch, make that mean something. When Maddie took the ORCA to Boston, she had a conviction. She couldn’t not have. She was there in part to lure Ghidorah in, but I can’t even pretend to believe her plan ended with that. She knew Godzilla would come.
That sort of belief is hard to kill, and if death via Ghidorah wasn’t enough to scare her off, no way anything else in those five years afterwards did. Her belief that Godzilla is good survived to GvK, and should’ve been a main focal point of her character. Godzilla attacks Apex—she and every other Monarch person who has spent years studying the Titans knows something is up.
Keep Mark’s character development regarding his opinions on Godzilla. He believes Maddie when she says something has to be wrong, not just because he trusts his daughter, but because he looked into Godzilla’s eyes and saw more than just an animal.
They’re in Part 1 only minimally, just to establish their presence and how they feel about Godzilla destroying Apex. The focus is clearly on Jia and Kong’s side of events.
Sorry, but I’m leaving Josh out and seriously dialing back Bernie’s role. Instead, the character we follow inside Apex is Ren Serizawa. We see his motivations, his ambitions, and he becomes a character with more than just a few lines. Does he resent Godzilla? Or does he resent his father, too? Serizawa’s sacrifice was willing, after all. He was no accidental casualty.
Part 1 ends in the Hollow Earth, with Ghidorah taking control of Mechagodzilla on the surface. Alter the timeline just enough so that Godzilla has only just arrived to Hong Kong, and Kong’s still in the Hollow Earth. The final scene is Mechagodzilla emerging into the city as the sun rises. The post-credits scene is our KotM cast in the Argo, location unknown, watching a screen with Mechagodzilla on it.
Part 2 begins with a reveal: Ren Serizawa isn’t dead.
Backtrack. This part focuses more on the Godzilla side, and Monarch. It’ll have flashback scenes from the five years between KotM and now, showing exactly why Monarch as a whole firmly believes Godzilla is reacting to something instead of being anti-human all of a sudden. The Titans are not inherently malicious; destruction is a side effect of their size, no more, no less. He earned his title of King in KotM—make it mean more than just trying to make Kong “bow.” Make him a protector, a guardian. He’s nature’s balance. By definition, he must protect humans as well.
What Monarch needs to figure out is this: what is he trying to protect them from?
They investigate Apex in search of the answer, but knowing from past experience the sort of things Godzilla gets proactive about—the MUTOs, Ghidorah—Monarch mobilizes. They prepare for another fight, at Mark’s instructions. He witnessed both San Francisco and Boston firsthand, even if the former was from a civilian standpoint.
Godzilla has more hunt scenes. He targets a second Apex lab after his ocean fight with Kong, telling Monarch that they’re on the right track.
Maddie, being a minor and not dragged into the thick of things (yet), has to stay home. Remembering the podcast she sometimes listened to, when the topic was focused on the Titans, she tracks Bernie down, and he tells her about what he saw: the eye.
The two of them go to the ruined Apex building and discover the eye is gone before getting caught. With Monarch currently breathing down their necks, they recognize Maddie to be Mark’s daughter and take her to Hong Kong. Sorry, Bernie, but that’s mostly as far as you’re involved. Timeline-wise, this is roughly when Kong puts the axe in the temple floor and Godzilla blasts a hole to the center of the earth. Monarch is following Godzilla, but they’re behind a bit thanks to the tunnel shortcuts. They’re still unaware that Maddie has been kidnapped and is en route to Hong Kong.
This is also when Mechagodzilla gains a life of its own. Walter Simmons is killed and Ren Serizawa becomes trapped in the link to Mechagodzilla, serving as the bridge between the robot and Ghidorah’s mind. Ghidorah is essentially controlling MG by controlling Ren, who is controlling MG. Make sense? He’s the puppeteer’s puppeteer.
We reverse some things. Godzilla fights MG first, gets beat around but not as much as in GvK because he isn’t fresh out of a different fight. Kong returns to the surface through the tunnel Godzilla created, having carried the one remaining HEAV out himself, because Nathan Lind has never flown one before and doesn’t know how they work. Kong wants to protect Jia, and Ilene Andrews and Nathan Lind are very lucky that Jia likes them.
Mechagodzilla sees Kong and takes off, and Kong decides now would be a great time to fight Godzilla, who’s having a pretty bad day. Monarch arrives, and half of them split off to follow MG while the rest stay to try and deescalate the situation. Other than Godzilla faring slightly less well, the fight goes mostly the same as in the movie, except for one big difference: one of the Monarch crafts pick up Jia and Co, and she’s able to get Kong’s attention from the back of an Osprey well enough to tell him to stop fighting. There’s a bigger threat out there, and Godzilla definitely needs to be okay enough to fight it. Either they work together, or they reschedule.
She’s very stern about it, and though no one’s really sure what the two Titans decide on, they stop fighting. They leave together to go after Mechagodzilla, who is currently being slowed down by Mothra, because she deserves to be in this movie. The other Titans basically hinder Mechagodzilla as much as possible as it rampages, telling Godzilla where it is. Monarch finally figures out that it’s heading for the nearest entrance to the Hollow Earth, right around when they also figure out that Ghidorah is involved. With Dr. Andrews and Nathan Lind’s input, they theorize it intends to take more of the power source down there to further strengthen it.
They do their best to clear the cities in its path, evacuating as many people as possible. It’s all they can do. As in the past, they must trust Godzilla to do the heavy lifting. Around the same time, an assistant tells Mark that some guy named Bernie called and is asking for him. This is how he finds out Maddie was taken to Apex’s Hong Kong location.
Meanwhile, the Apex guards and Maddie finally arrive to find the facility abandoned and damaged, MG gone, and Simmons dead. The guards more or less split, leaving her there alone. Maddie, being Maddie, goes deeper until she finally discovers Ghidorah’s skull and Ren Serizawa inside, trapped in his own head with Ghidorah. It’s killing him.
He’s aware enough to have a conversation with her. They argue about the Titans. He wants Godzilla destroyed out of anger over his father’s preference for Titans, rather than his own son.
(“You’re not the only one with ghosts!” she yells at him. “You’re not the only one who resents a parent for putting Titans ahead of you when you needed them!” He chokes out, “I do not resent my father—” “Coulda fooled me. Why else would you be spitting on his sacrifice like this? Who are you trying to help, huh? All the other kids out there who are losing their moms and dads because you let Ghidorah out? Sorry, mister, but the last time someone did that, your dad paid the price.”)
Ren is getting worse. He’s going to die if he stays in the link much longer, but he can’t disconnect. Maddie, looking around, gets to work on something. The camera slowly pans around to show that there’s a second pilot seat, back-to-back with Ren’s. It would allow for seamless switching between pilots without MG ever not having someone at the controls.
Even with the other Titans’ help, Godzilla and Kong are unable to stop MG from going through the tunnel and into the Hollow Earth. Monarch is unable to follow, because of the gravity issue. They’re both tired from the journey and their fight, especially Godzilla. This is their last chance. If Mechagodzilla reaches the power source, it’s all over.
The fight doesn’t go in their favor. They’re both bad at working together, so their attacks are uncoordinated at best, actively hindering each other at worst. Kong gets flung off a mountain and MG pins Godzilla. Even thought he caught himself, Kong isn’t going to make it up in time to help him.
Maddie puts on an identical pilot setup, and with Ren’s instructions, switches the link over to herself, freeing Ren. He collapses forward, immediately falling unconscious from the release of the strain. Fighting past the pain and overwhelming presence suddenly in her head, Maddie does what she does best: she causes Ghidorah problems.
She screams, and it echoes like a roar through his skull.
In the Hollow Earth, Mechagodzilla stumbles.
It’s the beginning of the end. She can’t control it or even really stop Ghidorah, but she gets in his way as much as possible, giving Godzilla and Kong the edge they need to finally get their act together and use some teamwork to take Mechagodzilla down. They destroy it and return to the surface before parting on amicable terms.
After too long, Mark arrives at Apex with a whole team of people. Ren Serizawa is found comatose but alive, and he’s quickly removed for medical attention. Though Maddie’s also alive, there’s something else clearly wrong. She’s still wired into the piloting gear, stiff and unseeing, as if she’s frozen. Her eyes are open but distant, pupils virtually gone from how constricted they are, and her jaw hangs open slightly. Despite how tense her body is, she’s limp. Nothing they do wakes her up, even after getting her out of the skull.
They wheel her out on a gurney to where a handful of Ospreys landed, but as they leave the building and step out onto the roof, they find Godzilla has returned. He watches them, and he’s exactly as aware as Mark remembers.
(“She tried to help you,” Mark calls out to him. No one knows exactly what happened in the Hollow Earth, during the fight, but the scene in Ghidorah’s skull was telling. “No, she—she did help you!” For the second time in her life, Maddie put herself in Ghidorah’s path and, ultimately, won. Only this time, her victory came with a price.)
Godzilla snorts before leaning over the roof’s railing, moving toward the gurney. The humans all back away, even Mark, though he doesn’t go far. Spines humming, eyes flaring blue, Godzilla rumbles deeply.
On the gurney, Maddie stirs.
Later, much later, after Maddie and Jia have met—heaven help everyone else, honestly—they sit together on the edge of a pier over the ocean, Jia leaning comfortably against Maddie. It’s quiet. They’re alone, watching the sunset. A heavy footfall behind them, the feel of the vibration trembling through the wood, makes them turn around. Half concealed in the brush at the edge of the island’s foliage, Kong stands, facing them.
They both wave before standing. They sign goodbye to each other, then part ways. As Maddie walks away to a waiting Osprey, we see behind her as Kong crouches to allow Jia to climb into his palm before vanishing into the forest.
The Osprey takes off over the calm ocean. It has a different design than most, with a large door set in the side instead of at the back, more like an ordinary helicopter. It’s open as they go, Maddie secure inside as she stares out. A smile spreads across her face as jagged spines slowly breach the ocean’s surface, easily keeping pace with the Osprey, which lowers to be closer to the water.
For just a moment, in the fading light, Maddie’s eyes almost shine blue. The screen goes black to the sound of Godzilla’s roar.

Lydia noticed Win was quiet on the way back home after the scene outside the venue.  It was definitely one of the downsides of their job — people feeling entitled to your body, to your personal life...
Knowing how hard it could be, she simply held her girlfriend's hand, rubbing soothing circles with her thumb, hoping that by the time they got home she would feel a little bit better.
"Finally!" Lydia sighed as they arrived at the flat.  "I need a shower... do you wanna go first, Winnie?  Or come with me?" she offered.
"Can I come with you?" Lyddie's Nathan exclaimed, raising his hand.
"Have you just performed for a venue full of people?" she asked, narrowing her eyes.  "Didn't think so."
“Would you mind if I join you?” Win asked quietly, not really wanting to wait around in her sweaty clothes, and the thought of being close to Lydia sounded nice.
"Not at all, come on.”  Locking arms with Win, Lydia led her to the bathroom.  "Are you okay, baby?  Do you wanna talk about it?" she asked, quickly undressing before waiting for the water to get warm to climb in the shower, her hair draping down her neck like a blue curtain as soon as the water hit it.
Win joined her girlfriend and traded places with her, letting the water run over her as well.  “I’m fine...” she sighed.  “I dunno why it got t’me like that.  I’m not usually the type to get rattled so easily.”
"It sucks, I know, but don't let it ruin your night, those wankers don't deserve it," Lydia murmured, lathering her hands with shampoo and running her fingers through Win’s hair, carefully untangling it and letting her hands slide down do massage her shoulders.  "We're safe, we did amazing, and I love you."
“Aw babe, I love you too,” Win murmured, letting Lydia’s soft massage ease her further.  “It felt like the first time we played together, didn’t it,” she mused, catching Lyddie’s eye as she twisted to look at her over her shoulder.
"Yeah, if I knew then that you'd be my girlfriend I wouldn't have wasted my time being so nervous and awkward... you made me forget how to breathe," Lyddie laughed before kissing her lips softly.  "Playing with you is the best."
“I’m unbelievably lucky,” Win agreed, kissing her back before having her spin so she could help wash Lyddie’s long hair.
“What’s takin’ so long?” Win’s Nathan called through the door.  “You two aren’t gettin’ it on without us are yeh?”
"Yes, I'm finger banging Winnie as we speak!" Lydia shouted back and winked at her.  "I'm the lucky one, baby."
"Hey!  If you two don't come out soon, we're gonna eat all the leftovers!" Lyddie's Nathan threatened.
“You just want us t’stop shaggin’ cuz you want a turn!” Win called with a laugh, remembering all too well how badly Lyddie’s Nathan wanted a second round.  “I am hungry though,” she admitted as her stomach rumbled.
"Yeah, me too..." Lydia turned off the water.  "I don't doubt they’d eat it all out of spite,” she laughed, stepping out of the shower and wrapping a towel around herself before grabbing one for Win.  "So, um, did your Nathan ever mention finding something out about me?  Like bragging or...?"
Win tilted her head.  Shit shit shit, she thought, her mind racing.  He had found out about the one thing... while they were in New York, but should she tell her that?
“Uhm, no, what d’you mean?” she asked anxiously.  She wished Lyddie’s Nathan were there so she could ask what he thought she should say.
"It's just today he did something... but I never told him I like it, so my Nathan thinks he just picked up on 'signs' but I don't think I have any," Lydia mused, slightly terrified that she actually had several tells that everyone could see except for her.
Win glanced away.  She’d picked up on some signs too, outside of what she’d managed to weasel out of Lyddie’s Nathan, but she wasn’t sure if now was exactly the time to tell Lyddie that.  “I’m sure that’s all it is.  I mean, I know Nate’s not always the brightest, but he likes you a lot, so of course he’s gunna pay attention to things you seem to like.”
"Oh... okay."  Lydia looked down, feeling slightly self-conscious.  If he picked up the signs, that must mean Win did too, which was her worst nightmare.  She remembered all too well how Alisha and Kelly had reacted when Nathan decided to run his mouth.  "I mean, I'm not complaining, it just freaked me out for a second."
Win frowned, sensing Lyddie's unease.  "You okay?  You know you can talk to me about anything, right?  I'd never judge you, Lyds."
"Yeah yeah, sure, I just... I have a few things... What Natty said that night at the restaurant, about me liking to watch people eat..." Lydia whispered, her cheeks turning red.  "It’s true.  I know it's kinda weird, but there are worse things."
"I don't think that's weird," Win murmured, noticing how embarrassed just admitting that seemed to be for her, and she knew she needed to tread lightly, already knowing what worse things she meant.
"I think it's kinda hot sometimes when people eat too," she offered.  "Besides, I'm not here to yuck on anyone's yums.  Kinks are weird sometimes, doesn't make you any less valid," she said with a shrug.  "And if your partners are willing t'do those things for you, then it obviously doesn't bother them."
Lydia took a deep breath, and without another word, just held Win against her chest.  "You are so sweet, I don't deserve you," she whispered.  She was so relieved that her girlfriend didn't mind that.
Okay, that was done, now there was only one thing left to say... it would be so much easier to just say it!
"Hey, I'm turnin' on the oven in five minutes," Lyddie's Nathan warned, interrupting her thoughts.
"We're coming out, you prick," she chuckled.
Win squeezed Lyddie back, glad that she could put her at ease at least a little, just like Lyddie’d done for her, lingering in her embrace for a while.  Throwing on a t-shirt and panties, Win opened the door.  "I'm so starvingggg," she groaned.
"Me too!"  Lydia followed Win with a giggle.  She would turn on the oven and do things the traditional way, but she was too hungry for that.  "Nats, can you be a dear and heat that up for us?  I can't wait fifteen minutes," she whined, batting her eyelashes at him.
"Fine..." her Nathan replied, pretending to be very inconvenienced by her request, but picking up the casserole dish and warming it with his powers.
"Thank you, Natty," Win purred, stretching on her toes to place a kiss to his cheek and ruffling his hair.
"Oh there you are," her Nathan exclaimed, coming out of the other room.  "Took y'two long enough," he grumbled and she spared a kiss for him too.
"Sorry, girl talk," Lydia shrugged, cutting what was left of the lasagna in four parts, carefully serving it with some extra parmesan on top.
"That's what they call it these days?" her Nathan taunted before taking the first bite.
"I suppose it is..." Lydia said, joining the others on the couch.
"Wish you were a girl?" Win teased, poking Lyddie's Nathan in the side.
"No, but I wish I could've been included..." he grunted.
"We didn't shag, stop whining," Lydia nudged his arm.  "You know I hate shower sex."
"Oh really?  What about New York?"
"That was different," Lydia looked between Win and both Nathans.
Win's grin faltered, remembering how she'd bungled that opportunity and quickly looked down at her plate, focusing on her lasagna.
"Oh, how could I forget?" her Nathan exclaimed. "I wish we had a shower that fuckin' fancy."
"Hey, remember what we did on the sink though...?" Lydia whispered, feeling how upset Win got over the comment.
"We were gonna get a bigger flat with a bathroom like that, y'know," Lyddie's Nathan explained. "In West London, but we like this one too much."
"Course I remember," Win whispered back, offering a small smile, trying not to let it bother her before snorting and raising her voice.  "Oh yeah, I'm sure that's the reason," she teased.
Lyddie's Nathan stuck his tongue out.  The truth was, after they started saving for the New York flat, they didn't have the money to move to West London.
"But when we go back to New York we can get a nice place," Lydia mumbled.  "We need to be close to the Brooks Atkinson, so I don't need to take the subway every day."
"I'm excited to go back," Win murmured, trying to imagine what life would be like there, what their flat might look like.
"Me too," her Nathan agreed, slipping his arm around her.
"Yeah, I can't wait.  Can you guys imagine how Halloween is gonna be?" Lydia finished the last bit of her dinner and set the plate on the coffee table, getting up to grab some water.
"Good luck thinkin' of a couples costume for a quad," her Nathan teased.
"I'm sure we'll think of something," Win mused, setting her plate aside and laying back, spreading herself over both Nathan's laps, covering the large yawn that cracked her jaw.
"Hey now, none of that!" her Nathan exclaimed, jostling her slightly.
"Yeah, I haven't gotten your knickers soaked yet!" Lyddie's Nathan protested.  "No gettin' tired now, Winnie!"
"Oh, come on, let her sleep if she's tired," Lydia came back with a glass of water in hand.  "I might go to bed soon too..."
Win groaned softly.  She didn't want to be tired.  "You can try," she murmured with a smile for Lyddie's Nathan.
"What?  Not you too," Win's Nathan whined, looking up at Lydia.
"Challenge accepted..." Lyddie’s Nathan exclaimed, pulling Win into his lap and kissing from her chest, to her neck, to her lips.  "Let's wake you up, huh?"
"What?  You had other plans?" Lydia gave Win's Nathan her best innocent look.
"Well... yeah," Win's Nathan spluttered, sitting up to reach for her. "Thought we could... y'know!" he exclaimed. "Don't y'remember?" he asked, humping the air.
"Of course I do, I'm just dicking with you," Lydia ran her fingers through his curls.  "I also remember that I said you MIGHT get lucky, it wasn't a promise..."
Win responded slowly at first, but each press of Nathan's lips to her skin seemed to light a fire in her, warming her til she kissed him back with a sigh.  "Jeeze, you're persistent aren't you?" she murmured.
"I wasn't the one horny as we were about t'leave.  Well... I was, but I wasn't the only one!" Lyddie's Nathan pointed out, circling Win's nipples with his thumbs.  "I remember you sayin' you'd need somethin' after the show to take th’edge off..."
Win sighed, arching instinctively into his touch.  "I dunno, I think that shower took most of the edge off actually.  Hence, why I'm sleepy," she teased, her own fingers finding his nipples to tease him back.
Win's Nathan stuck his bottom lip out in an over exaggerated pout, hoping to gain some sympathy as he gazed up at Lydia with his best puppy dog eyes.
"Don't look at me like that..." Lydia tried to look away, but it was too late.  "That's not the best way to get me horny, I can tell you that," she said, sitting back down next to him.  "But I think you know that by now..."
"Oh, I know," Win's Nathan mused, "but I also know y'can't resist these gorgeous eyes o' mine," he said with a grin, pulling Lydia into his lap, tracing the dark mark at her neck with his finger, letting it run down her shoulder, hooking under her shirt and pulling it down so he could press his lips to her skin.
"Okay then..." Lyddie's Nathan decided to call Win’s bluff.  "Good night, Winnie, I love you!"  Kissing her forehead, his fingers gently brushed over the marks on her neck.
Win frowned before her lips quirked slightly upward.  Fuck, but she loved this man.  "Oh, okay, I see how it is," she said, pinching his nipples harder and rolling them between her fingers through his thin t-shirt.
"Ouch!" Lyddie's Nathan gaped, he definitely did not expect that reaction.  "If you wanted t'shag me so bad, you could've just asked..." he teased, smirking as he bucked his hips against her.
"You cocky bastard," Lydia's breath hitched slightly, feeling tingly just from the softest kiss, her goosebumps giving away her excitement again.  "You think you know me so well, but I wouldn't be too confident if I were you," she teased, brushing her lips along his jaw.
"Oh? Well, why don'tcha fill me in, darlin'?" he asked, his eyes flicking up to hers as he tilted his head, allowing her better access to his jawline as his arms snaked around her waist.
"Well, you already know about the food thing..." Lydia muttered, feeling her face burn with embarrassment even though everyone else seemed okay with it.  "And the chugging thing..."
He must've noticed, right?
"But maybe with time you'll find more," she mused.
Win shrieked softly, laughing as she squirmed in Lyddie's Nathan's lap.  "I always wanna shag you, you twat," she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around his neck as he pulled her closer.  "You know exactly what you do t'me.  I can never resist you for long," she whispered.
"Oh?  I had no idea I caused such a fuss," Lyddie's Nathan gasped with fake surprise.  "So you can't resist me, huh?” he murmured, pulling her shirt over her head and kissing his way to her breasts.  "That's good t'know, Winnie..."
Win sighed, her fingers running through Nathan's curls as he bent to kiss her. "I shouldn't give you a bigger ego than you already have..." she murmured, her breath catching.
"Big ego?  Me?  Nah," Lyddie's Nathan scoffed.  "It's not my fault I have two sexy birds who can't resist my charms..." his hand reached between Win's legs, under her knickers.  "Seems like it's workin', I have you soaked."
"So, you do," Win admitted, "not that it's hard," she laughed.  "Natty," she said softly after a moment, pressing her forehead to his.  "I want you to make love to me.  Not fucking, not shaggin', but... y'know?"
Win's Nathan smiled softly.  "I'd like to find out more," he whispered, "I wanna know everythin' there is t'know about you," he insisted, his hands slipping up under Lydia’s shirt.
"That's actually sweet..."  Lydia stopped moving for a moment, thinking about the possibility of telling him, he would have the same reaction as her own Nathan, but... the issue was, telling him meant telling Win as well.  "...But some things are better kept secret, right?"
Win's Nathan frowned for a moment, his thumbs moving in slow circles against Lyddie's skin. "Alright then, keep your secrets," he said, pressing his lips to hers. "You can tell me whenever you're ready.”
His frown made her want to tell him everything, he was so sweet asking her... "If I really have as many tells as Nathan says I do, you might already know, and it's a little scary to me," she admitted, hiding against his chest.
"Wait what?" Lyddie's Nathan was taken by surprise, that was certainly new, no one had ever asked him to do that before.  "I mean, sure... I can do that," he wasn't sure how, but he was willing to find out.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t’ve asked,” Win murmured, playing it off with a small laugh.
"No! I'm fine with it, we can do it! I just have never done it before... but I want to," he took her hands. "Come on, y'can show me."
“I don’t ever want y’to feel... scared,” Win’s Nathan said softly, rubbing Lydia’s back soothingly.  “I love you...”
"I love you too," Lydia murmured, holding him tighter.  "I'm not scared of you... not exactly..." she mumbled, feeling slightly guilty for killing the mood with her insecurities.  Win’s Nathan felt Lydia’s grasp on him tighten and he stroked her hair, past caring if got any or not, more worried about making sure Lydia was alright.
Win nodded, she glanced over to Lyddie and her Nathan who seemed to be having a moment of their own.  “Shall we...?” she asked, nodding toward the bedroom.  It might be best for them to give the other couple some space.
"Yeah yeah, sure," Lyddie's Nathan murmured; looking over at them he immediately understood, following Win to their room.
"So, should I get naked, or...?" he cleared his throat, unsure of what the next step might be.
Win bit her lip as she sat on the edge of the bed, taking Lyddie’s Nathan’s hand and drawing him closer.  “Here, let me,” she murmured, lifting his shirt, her palms skimming over his warm skin before going to the waist of his jeans, looking up at him as she unbuttoned them, easing them down his hips to fall to the floor with his shirt.  Closing her eyes she pressed her lips to his navel as she eased his boxers down, her hand gliding over his length, stroking him lightly before she lifted her chin and opened her eyes, finding him watching her open mouthed.
"So far... I like it," Lyddie's Nathan nodded, agape.  He brought Win up and kissed her gently, sliding down her knickers.  "I love you," he breathed softly against her lips pulling her close, his hands roaming her body with no rush, just wanting to feel every last bit of her.  "Am I doin' it right?"
Win grinned against his lips, her hands coming up to hold his face.  “Yes, you’re doin’ it right.  I mean, it’s basically just shagging, but softer?  Taking your time t’savour the other person and carin’ as much about their pleasure as your own,” she explained.
"Oh, I get it..." Lyddie's Nathan nodded, lowering Win to the bed.  "Sounds like a good time," he joked, kissing her neck over every single hickey he left earlier, idly wondering why Lyds never asked him to make love to her.  "Y'look so beautiful," he murmured, pulling back to admire her.
Win stretched out under him, her arms thrown over her head.  “So are you,” she murmured, watching him with a soft smile on her face. “I love you so much,” she said, reaching for him, pulling him down atop her.  “I wanna make you feel good, Nathan.”
Lyddie's Nathan resisted the urge to move things faster, to tease Win until she begged, he wanted to feel her, to appreciate that moment.  "I wanna make you feel good too," his hand slowly slid between them, finding her clit and circling it slowly while his lips found hers.  "How's that?  Do you like that, baby?"
“Uh huh,” Win moaned, reaching between them to stroke his cock as she pulled him closer with her other hand, kissing him tenderly.
Lyddie's Nathan squirmed, moaning softly into Win's kiss, rolling his hips to meet her hand without realizing. "I need you," he purred.  "I need you so bad, Winnie."
“I need you too, Natty,” Win breathed, guiding his cock to her entrance as she held his gaze.  “I love you so much.”
"I love you too, baby," Lyddie's Nathan gasped silently as he pushed himself into her, being mindful of every move, holding Win as close as humanly possible.  "You feel so good."
“Oh,” Win moaned as he filled her slowly, different from his usual rough thrusts.  “Oh, you feel so good, too,” she breathed, pressing her forehead to his as he moved in her and she held him close, wanting to feel every inch of him pressed to her, closer than ever before as they moved together.
Lyddie's Nathan had never felt so connected to Win and suddenly he remembered what she said about wanting to spend the rest of her life with them, and he knew in that moment, he had to find a way to propose to her.
"My Winnie," he whispered with a grin before kissing her again.
Win felt tears prick her eyes as he whispered her name like that, overwhelmed with emotion and she buried her face against his shoulder so he wouldn’t see.  “Nathan, I’m close!” she cried, wanting desperately to come together.
"Me too, baby, come for me," Lyddie's Nathan groaned, moving slightly faster, firmly holding Win against him, one hand on her neck, the other on her thigh as her leg hooked around his waist.
Her climax crashed over her like a wave and she cried out, tensing under Lyddie’s Nathan, her arms tightening around him.  “Oh Nathan!  I’m yours, I’m yours!” she cried, feeling him filling her, giving several more shuddering thrusts before he stilled, not moving yet, not pulling out of her, just breathing together.
"Jesus, that was... different," Lyddie's Nathan spluttered, trying to catch his breath.  "It was so good though.  God, I love you so much," he panted, trying not to show how vulnerable he felt at that moment.  "Hey,” he murmured, guiding Win’s eyes to his.  “Remember those things you said when we were high in the City?  D'you mean it?"
Win blinked at his question, trying to remember exactly what she’d said.
I wanna be with you and Lyddie forever.
“Yeah... yeah, I meant it,” she said softly as the memory hit her.  “I can’t imagine my life without you, without all of you,” she whispered.
"Good, I feel the same way..."  Lyddie's Nathan slowly pulled out and fell on his back, pulling Win to rest her head on his chest.  "Should we be worried at how quiet the others are outside? Lyddie’s usually quite loud when she... d’you think she's okay?" he asked.
Win listened, she didn’t hear anything either, but she wasn’t as worried.  “I think they’re alright.  Maybe Nathan wanted t’be gentle too,” she mused, snuggling closer.
"Gentle with Lyddie?  Good luck with that," he laughed and kissed the top of Win's head.  "I'm so happy everythin' seems t'be fallin' into place, it's hard t'imagine a year ago that I was homeless and miserable."
Win lifted her face to watch Lyddie’s Nathan’s expression as she idly traced patterns against his chest.  “You deserve t’be happy,” she said, remembering her own time with Nathan at the Community Centre, at how happy he seemed when he suddenly felt needed, important.
"I think we all do after all the shit we've been through," Lyddie's Nathan sighed; he was so tempted to make a ring appear out of thin air and propose right then and there, but he didn't think it would be fair to her Nathan.
Win sighed, completely content, suddenly feeling the exhaustion that she had kept at bay earlier crash over her and her eyes grew heavy.  She tried to say something to Lyddie’s Nathan but the words came out more of an incomprehensible mumble.
Lyddie's Nathan watched as Win fell asleep in his arms, so peaceful.  Pulling the covers from the edge of the bed, he let that relaxation take over him as well.
——
"I'm making a big deal out of it, it's stupid," Lydia shook her head, trying to take Win's Nathan's shirt off.  "Don't worry, just shag me, be rough with me..." she said, trying to push those thoughts aside.
“Hey, hey, it’s not stupid,” Win’s Nathan insisted, gently fighting off her attempt at undressing him, grasping her wrists til she calmed.  “What if I don’t wanna be rough with you?” he asked, concern twisting his features.
"But... I like it when you are," Lydia said.  She felt slightly worried.  In her mind, when someone didn't have a burning desire that made them wanna jump her bones, it's because they didn't find her attractive.  "Did I do something wrong?" she asked quietly.
“What?  No!” Win’s Nathan exclaimed.  “I-I, that’s not—“ he groaned.
“I like bein’ rough with you Lyddie, I like shaggin’ your brains out, but... but right now it feels like you’re usin’ that as a way of distractin’ yourself or somethin’ and I don’t wanna do that if you’re upset.”  Any other time and he wouldn’t have argued, jumping at the opportunity, but this was different, he actually cared about how Lyddie felt.  She wasn’t just some one time shag.
"Alright," Lydia agreed.  "If I told you something, would you be able to keep it a secret?  I'm not ready to tell Win yet.  I will, but I'm just a little scared of her reaction, you know?  So, can we keep it between us for now?  It's totally fine if you can't... I shouldn't be asking you this..." Lydia babbled, shaking her head — his loyalty to Win was probably bigger than all of this, and she couldn't blame him for that.
Win’s Nathan bit his lip, considering.  He didn’t like keeping things from Win, but if Lyddie had a good reason, then he would.  “I won’t tell her if y’don’t want me to,” he assured her.  “I think you should trust her with whatever it is though.  She loves you so much, you know that right ?  She’d never judge you for anythin’,” he pointed out.
"So everyone keeps telling me.  I love her way too much, I don't want her to look at me differently,  I just need to find the right way to say it..." Lydia bit her nails nervously.  "The thing is... well, you see... I have this thing..."  Before she completely lost the nerve, she quickly whispered it in his ear, expecting him to laugh, which would be completely understandable, she had learned to laugh at it ages ago.
Nathan listened to Lyddie’s secret, holding his breath, waiting for some terrible thing, but... he already knew it.  So did Win.
Should he tell her that Win already knew and didn’t care or should she give Lyddie the opportunity to tell Win herself.  Though, maybe if he told her... she could feel less worried about the whole thing, but if he revealed that... then he’d reveal that he already knew as well and he wasn’t sure how she’d feel about that.
“Oh really?” he said, grinning at her.  “If that’s th’case then I’m the most powerful man in th’universe.”
Lydia laughed, feeling slightly better about it, a warm affection growing inside of her mixed with desire.  "Yeah, yeah you are, you mannerless bastard," she giggled, leaning in to kiss him, burying her fingers in his messy curls.  "I love you, Nathan."
“I love yeh too, Lydia,” Win’s Nathan replied, squeezing her tightly as he kissed her.  “D’you feel a little better now?”
"Yeah, I love you too," she sighed with a huge smile.  "I feel much better, you should be flattered, I’ve never told anyone before," she joked, tilting her head to kiss his neck.
“I’m glad yeh trust me so much,” Nathan breathed, affection filling his chest and he moaned softly as she kissed his neck.  “Y’know, you can trust me when I say that you shouldn’t worry bout what Win thinks,” he said, pulling Lydia closer, as he rolled his hips to meet her.
"I know, I'm gonna tell her, I just need to find the courage to do it..." Lydia's sentence was interrupted by a quiet whimper as Win's Nathan teased her. "Oh, okay," she snaked her hands under his shirt. "By the way, try not to use this against me too often..." she joked.
“I won’t, with great power comes great responsibility, after all,” Nathan joked, a grin tugging at his lips.  “Cross my heart and hope t’die,” he added, capturing Lydia’s mouth in a passionate kiss.
"Hope to die, do you?  I don't know why I don't believe you..." she mocked, kissing him back, this time successfully pulling his shirt over his head. " You bloody tease," she huffed a soft laugh before kissing his heaving chest.
“I would die for you!” Win’s Nathan panted, freeing Lydia from her shirt as well, urging her to keep grinding against him.  “Just because I’ll come back t’life again afterwards doesn’t make it mean any less!” he laughed between kisses.
"I'm honored, Natty," Lydia laughed, quickly unzipping his jeans and palming his cock, stroking it rhythmically, as she hungrily sought his lips.  "You don't have to be rough with me tonight, I just wanna feel you," she begged, her arousal pooling between her legs.
“Oh, Lyddie,” Win’s Nathan groaned, bucking against her hand.  “I didn’t mean that I didn’t want yeh.  I want yeh so bad!  I just didn’t want... I didn’t want yeh to feel like you needed to be used to feel like I wanted yeh.”
"That's the only way I ever known," she shrugged, pulling her knickers to the side and sitting back on Win's Nathan's lap, sliding his length inside of her.  "But I like it this way too," she moaned quietly.  "I never thought I'd see you being so... sentimental."
“I hope that’s not a turn off,” Win’s Nathan chuckled nervously, his eyelids fluttering as she began to ride him, rolling her hips to draw him deeper.
"Usually I'm not a fan of sentimental, or polite, or gentle... but I love you no matter what, so I'm very much turned on right now," Lydia held onto Win's Nathan's shoulders moving in sync with their breathing.
“O-oh,” Win’s Nathan gasped.  “Well that’s good t’know,” he mumbled, thrusting up into her harder.  If she didn’t like it gentle, then he wouldn’t be gentle.  Sometimes he forgot how different Win and Lydia were.
"Yes!" Lydia threw her head back moving faster in response.  "I love you, Natty, I want you with me forever," she mumbled without thinking about the words she said, she just felt them as they dripped out of her mouth.  "I can't live without you."
“Fuck, Lyddie, I love you too!” Win’s Nathan gasped, his hands on her hips urging her to move faster as she bounced on him.  “I can’t live without yeh either!” he exclaimed, crushing her against his chest as he exploded inside her, trying to ignore the thoughts that had suddenly taken hold and the crushing doubt that came with them.
Why would Lyddie say yes to him if Win already hadn’t, besides, she was already engaged to his clone…
"Oh, Nathan, Nathan, please..." Lydia cried.  "I'm gonna—" she had to hide against Win's Nathan's shoulder not to scream as she came, feeling her whole body contract and relax, pleasure rushing through her.  "Oh my God, you're perfect," she shuddered, her body giving out completely.  "Is everything okay, baby?"
Win’s Nathan, wrapped his arms around Lydia, resting his cheek against her hair.  The last thing he wanted to do was worry her, especially after everything she’d confessed to him earlier. “Everythin’s perfect, princess.  You’re perfect.”
"Okay," Lyddie yawned, putting her shirt back on.  "Two shags and show, I'm exhausted," she said, stumbling her way to the room, stopping midway to look over her shoulder with a sleepy smile.  "Are you coming, Nate?"
“Yeah, I’ll be right there, babe,” he said, sitting up.  Shooting a smile at Lyddie before she rounded the corner he rested his elbows on his knees and dropped his face to his hands.
What did it matter if Lyddie was marrying the other him?  And Win still loved him, it wasn’t like she didn’t just because she’d turned him down the first time.  So why did he suddenly feel so empty?
Not wanting Lyddie to worry he swallowed those thoughts and followed her to the bedroom, finding her already in bed and Win asleep in his clone’s arms.

Once a Serpent? Part 1
A/N: This is a Riverdale X 13 Reasons Why crossover. I stopped watching Riverdale when season 2 got weird. I haven't really kept up with the show since outside of promos. As a result, this won't really line up with much of anything in seasons 3-current. I know I usually have Monty be this great guy who changes for the girl but I decided to try something different this time. This story has gone in a direction I wasn't expecting. It won't be super different than normal for a while, but I will give content warnings where needed. Let me know what you guys think and if you want me to continue! As always, feel free to send feedback or Q&A type questions. And much love! - Em
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to real people is purely coincidental.
I found Nathan over by the river. He was staring out over the cliff. My black leather jacket was pulled around me tightly. It was a cold August. “Hey.” I called out to him, softly.
“Hey.” He didn’t turn around.
“Can we talk?”
“About?”
“What happened?”
“Not much to talk about, is there Kennedy?”
“Nate…” I started. “Please?”
“Fine.” He sighed, walked back closer to the trail, and sat on a rock. I watched him run a hand through his shaggy hair.
“I just found out last night. I was going to tell you today. I didn’t think it was something you should tell someone on the phone.”
“I just don’t get why you have to go. You’re an adult.”
“Because. I haven’t graduated and I have nowhere to stay here.” He opened his mouth to speak. “My boyfriend’s trailer doesn’t count.”
“Okay. When do you leave?”
“Three days. My mom needs time to finish her week. Dad leaves tonight.”
“You can keep the jacket until then.”
“Thanks.”
“Not doing it to be nice. You know that.”
“I know. But still. Thank you.” He merely hummed in response. “For everything.” I felt tears welling in my eyes. He knew me too well and, even if he didn’t want to, he opened his arms for a hug. I took a few steps forward into his grasp. He wrapped his arms tightly around me as I sobbed. I don’t want to leave. I don’t want to leave you. He shushed me and petted my hair. “I love you Nate.”
“I love you too Kenna.” His voice sounded small. I stepped away from him hhen I calmed down enough to breathe properly again. I couldn’t look at him again as I walked away.
Three days passed by in the blink of an eye. One minute I was starting to fold clothes, the next, I was staring at the jacket on my empty mattress. My room was full of boxes for the movers to take. The Serpent jacket stared back at me. It was almost mocking me. You knew this was a possibility when you got involved. “Shut up.” I muttered.
It was time for me to give the jacket back. Giving it up was almost harder than the breakup. It had become a part of me in the last two years. The thought of being without it made me feel cold. As hard as it was, I knew it didn’t belong to me anymore. So, I took a deep breath and picked it up. I didn’t put it on. There was no reason to make this even harder than it already was.
I pulled to the side of the road when I got to Sunnyside. I knew my car was safe on the side of the road because I was in Serpent territory. Walking along the gravel to his trailer, I felt a pit growing in my stomach. I could have given the jacket to Jughead, or Toni, or Fangs to give to him. No, you couldn’t. I had to see him one last time. The last time couldn’t have really been the last time.
“No, man. I’m all good.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. It’s not like we were going to work anyway.” Is that? Are they… are they talking about me?
“What do you mean?” Fangs asked. I stopped dead in my tracks behind a random trailer. I was far enough away that neither of them could see me.
“Kennedy is,” Sweetpea paused, “she’s the experiment. You know, try the pretty little rich girl from the North side. See how that goes. See what it’s like.”
“I wouldn’t say that. Look at Betty and Jug.”
“Kennedy is not Betty.”
“Okay?”
“Look. Fangs. Kennedy is the girl who marries the CPA. She buys a house with him in the suburbs with a picket fence. They have a couple or three kids and buy a golden retriever who loves everyone. She doesn’t marry the guy who’s in a gang. We are both better off for this.”
I was stunned. I didn’t know what to do. I knew I couldn’t go out there and make my presence known. But I had his stupid jacket. Jones. I ran back to the entrance of the trailer park and went around the other way to get to the Jones’ trailer. I still had a key that I was going to give back after I gave Nathan, Sweetpea, back his jacket. Leaving the jacket on the kitchen table, I grabbed an old envelope and a pen. This doesn’t belong to me. I wrote quickly. It was messy but I knew he would know who it was from and who it was for. I left the note and the key beside the jacket. Again, I couldn’t look back as I walked away.
My mom and I arrived in Evergreen County just in time for me to be enrolled in school before the first day of classes. I would be attending Liberty High School. From the second I walked in the door with my parents to sign my paperwork, I knew this school would be just like the rest. The walls were lined with permanent “do your best” posters and trophy cases at any given turn. The smell that could only be described as eau de jock permeated the halls.
The principal’s office was down the hall. I tried to hang back from my parents. “Ah, you must be the Campbells. Major Campbell. Mrs. Campbell. And Kennedy.” The man I could only assume was the principal, judging by his obviously fake charm and smile, greeted us. “Gary Bolan.” My dad shook his hand firmly.
“Matthew Campbell.”
“You can call me Heather.”
“Of course.”
“Kennedy, come here darling.” My mom called for me. I walked over to her wordlessly.
“Hi.” I nodded. I had done this plenty of times before.
I decided to take advantage of my few more moments of freedom and explore the school. They didn’t need me to fill out medical forms and make sure my transcripts transferred properly. The school was big. Much bigger than Riverdale High. Didn’t seem too hard to navigate though. The sound of weights clashing together caught my attention. I followed the sound and found myself standing at the open door of the fitness centre.
There was a boy working out. He seemed hyper focused on his actions. It was mesmerizing in a way. The boy was tall. Not as tall as Nate. Most people weren’t. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say maybe between six feet and six foot two. It was hard to tell since he was sitting down. His brown hair was damp with sweat. I watched him. Not in a creepy way. Just… observed. I could tell by his form and muscles that he was probably an athlete. Judging by his size, maybe football? Small beads of sweat trailed down his tan neck. I coughed suddenly and caught this mystery boy off guard. He set the weights down and turned to face me. His face was…. And the cheekbones. Kennedy. What? He’s pretty.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you.”
“No worries.” He stood up and used his shirt to wipe the sweat from his face. Those abs. Good Lord. I blinked quickly to keep myself from staring. “I didn’t realize anyone was still here.”
“Oh. My parents are just enrolling me now. We moved here a few days ago from New York.”
“Cool. And you are?”
“Oh. Uh. I’m Kennedy.”
“Montgomery.” He nodded.

Wolf Training
(Story Post)
The next morning, Dax made sure Nathan was comfortable to be alone with Kent before he went for a run. He hadn't had a very filling dinner the night before, but he made a good smoothie with Kent's wild berries. Since the only protein option around was dead deer, he was very glad he'd brought the protein powder Ollie had let him try, and he blended it right up with the fruit. As soon as Nathan was ready, Kent started teaching him about his half form. They went outside to the back of the house facing the lake and Kent started asking him questions to get a sense of what triggered Nathan's transformations recently.
“I told you, both times I was really angry,” Nathan said. “I figured those extreme emotions fuel it.” “No, it doesn't work like that. You were plenty angry with me yesterday and you never changed nothin',” Kent said. “Tell me what the scenario was. Who was with you? What were they doin’? What were you doin’?” Nathan sighed. “The first time was with Wano, this alien guy I have staying over.” Kent furrowed his brow. “‘Nother boyfriend?” “No, just a friend I'm helping out,” Nathan said. “He's around my kids?” Kent asked. “He helps take care of them, yes.” Kent kissed his lips. “Pissin' me off… I don't want all these people ‘round my kids.” “Tough shit. I make the calls.” Kent wrinkled his nose. “What was the bastard doin', then? When you wolfed up.” “We were arguing because he had a friend over without my permission when I wasn't home,” Nathan explained. “Were the kids home?” “No, they were with me. I don't leave Wano alone with them.” “As you shouldn't.” “Are you going to keep focusing on your pseudo-father ego, or are you going to help me?” Nathan asked. Kent crossed his arms. “Positioning's important. Where was he, where were you in the moment?” Nathan shrugged. “I was standing in my kitchen behind my island, and he was there.” He pointed to a spot a few feet away from him. Kent moved into the spot. “Here?” “Yeah, then when I told him he couldn't bring his friend over anymore, he stepped right up to me and said to me that he couldn't stop me, or something of that nature,” Nathan explained. “Then I transformed.” “So, he stepped up to you like this?” Kent moved closer to Nathan. “Closer, he was right in my face.” Kent moved closer glaring down his nose at Nathan, making him sway back. “Like this?” “Yeah, back off a bit,” Nathan said, taking a step back. “I can smell your breath.” “Is he taller than you?” Kent asked. “Yeah. Not as much as you but a couple inches.” Kent rubbed his chin. “And the second time. What happened?” Nathan clenched his jaw. “Well, I imagine you know Korsgaard and Camilo now, right?” “Black suits who sent me up here,” Kent recalled. “Well they just told me you were alive,” Nathan said. “That really pissed me off. More than Wano.” “I'm alive. Get used to it,” Kent huffed. “But paint the picture again. Who was closest to you? Who did you direct your aggression to?” “In that moment, probably Korsgaard,” Nathan said. “Dax was closest to me though since we were sitting next to each other. Korsgaard and Camilo were on the other side of a desk.” “You're there and Korsgaard is here?” Kent moved back a bit and stood imagining the desk between them. “And you were sitting when you transformed?” “No, I believe I stood up,” Nathan said. “I remember, I stood up when I got really upset and I slammed the desk with a fist.” “Did you change then?” “No, Dax was trying to calm me down but then Korsgaard stood up too and tried to calm me by touching my arm. And then I transformed.” Kent raised his chin. “If I recall, Korsgaard’s taller than you too.” Nathan nodded. “Why? Does height have something to do with it?” “Somewhat, not exactly,” Kent said, scratching his stubble. “Ya see, the transformation is somethin’ you will. There has to be somethin' in those moments what makes you want to use your half form to your advantage, whether you realise it consciously or not.” Nathan blinked. “I wanted to transform?” Kent nodded. “In both situations, a guy bigger than you was trying to control you. Likely felt like they were trying to intimidate you and, in those moments, they felt like a threat. By transforming, you become the bigger, taller, stronger person. You dominate the situation.” Nathan looked at Kent. “…So how is that not because I'm angry?” “It's not that it's not,” Kent said. “But it's more than that. And with practice, you can take the anger out of it. You can make it happen whenever you want. You're not Bruce Banner.” “But I don't want it to happen,” Nathan said. “Sure you do,” Kent said. “You've got the two little beasties at home running around. You can't tell me you haven't wanted to wolf up when they do, have the same control they have. Heck, they're probably what's been influencing you to start these half transformations. They're rubbing off.” “I thought since they were born into it, they're just different from me,” Nathan assumed. “Being born into it just means it's easier for them. They're born with the instincts,” Kent said. “You can do everything they can. You just need practice.” Nathan rubbed his neck. “How do I practice it?” “This might sound stupid, but you just gotta start wantin' it real bad,” Kent said. “You're scared of it now ‘cause you're afraid of lack of control an’ hurtin' someone. But the half form is safer than the full form. You remain in control. You're conscious. Anything you do in that state is your full responsibility. You just have to want it.” Nathan nodded slowly. “Okay…” “Try it against me,” Kent said. “Try to be the bigger, stronger man.” Nathan just spread his arms. “What do I do?” “Well, first you probably want to take off your shirt and pants,” Kent said. Nathan hesitated, but he knew Kent was right and his clothes would be destroyed if he wolfed out in them. “Don't watch while I strip...” Kent just put his hands on his hips. “Behavin’ like a coward’s not gonna help you transform.” Nathan sighed and just tried to take his clothes off in the least sexiest way possible. He didn't remove his boxers because he’d always had special stretchy ones that didn't rip in transformation. He was still a bit self-conscious about his chest though and covered his pectorals with his hands. Kent shook his head. “Can't transform when you're embarrassed of yourself. Put your hands down. It's not like I haven't seen a man’s chest before.” Nathan huffed. “My chest changed with my pregnancy… Everything’s sensitive and swollen… And veiny.” Kent put his big hand on top of Nathan's head. “You feed my kids with that chest. You should be proud of it.” Nathan just sighed and lowered his hands, exposing his puffy pectorals. Kent looked at them and chuckled a bit. “You really do have tits, huh? That shewolf side of you has really taken over.” “Don't laugh! I'm really sensitive about it!” Nathan said covering himself again. “You have no idea what it's like!” “Relax, milk tits, it's not a big deal,” Kent said patting Nathan's head. “You're just being the mother you're supposed to be.” “I'm not a woman!” Nathan growled. “You bear bastard, stop touching me!” “Push my hand off then,” Kent said, keeping his hand planted firmly on the werewolf's head. “You can't. You're too weak.” Nathan took his hands off his chest to try to push Kent's arm off of him, but the bear man was incredibly strong and his hand didn't budge an inch. Nathan's hands went back to his chest. “Asshole!” “That’s it?” Kent scoffed. “That's your best try? Or are you too busy fondling your titties to actually try?” Nathan wrinkled his nose and grabbed Kent's arm again, this time putting all his effort into getting it off of him. After a few seconds straining to lift it, he suddenly felt the shift, a sort of swelling sensation, as he transformed into the half wolf. With the added strength that came with it, he tore Kent's hand off of him and shoved him back, letting out a loud snarl as he did so. “There you are!” Kent said, his eyes wide from seeing Nathan's half form for the first time. “Now hold it! Don't be scared of it!” Nathan looked at himself and felt that fear creeping up, the dread of being a monster. He tried to hold it down, but he watched in vain as the fur started to fall from his hands and he began to shrink down again. “No! Don't let go of it!” Kent stepped forward and then he transformed too. His huge half bear form towered over Nathan and he let out a bellowing bear cry. Nathan felt a sudden surge of strength and he regained the wolf form, letting it take over. He flung back his head and a powerful long howl sprung from his throat. He kept it going longer than he even thought he could and then when he was done, he brought his head down again to see that Kent was back as a man. “Good. You can let it go now,” Kent said. With that, Nathan immediately transformed back. He felt winded and tired, but a lot of his usual fear wasn't there. He just panted and looked at Kent. “That was… That happened…” Kent smirked. “It was somethin’, weren't it?” “Yeah… It kinda felt… Well, I don't know.” “Just say it,” Kent grunted. “It felt good, didn't it? Exhilaratin’.” “Yeah, a little,” Nathan admitted. “But I still did it when I was angry with you.” Kent rolled his eyes. “I just needed you to feel the feelin’again. You know what it feels like, right in here, right?” He patted the middle of his chest. “You feel it build in there. That's what you need to feel to trigger it.” “Okay… I did feel it,” Nathan said. “…What now?” “You drink some water and we do it again.” “Right.”

dance with somebody (ch. 26/26)
start from ch. 1 | back to ch. 25
Throughout his five years in professional hockey, Connor Whisk has been called a great many things.
During his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the adjective most frequently used by ESPN was promising. (Editor’s note: we’ve counted. Yes, we’re nerds.) However, soon after Whisk’s abrupt trade to the newly minted Seattle Kraken, sensational and unprecedented quickly started climbing the charts. It truly seemed like Whisk had found himself perfectly at home as a rising star on a young and fiercely untamed NHL expansion team, full of players with nothing to lose, yet so much to prove.
At least, that was the way things appeared.
Whisk suggests meeting at a quiet coffee place in Pioneer Square. He’s already waiting outside when I arrive (and it should be noted that I'm at least ten minutes early). Whisk's handshake is firm, his shirt is completely lacking in wrinkles without a single button undone, and there's something carefully proper in his manners as we exchange pleasantries and order coffee.
We don't have an abundance of time, which is why I get right into it almost before we're seated. What’s his opinion on the current standings? If the Kraken do make the playoffs again, like most experts have assumed, what will be their strategy for staying in the game longer, this time? And what’s changed for the Kraken, during these last couple of seasons, that have enabled them to become such a force to be reckoned with so soon after the team’s very foundation?
Whisk, who isn't necessarily known for taking pleasure in excessive attention from the media, seems surprisingly at ease with my onslaught of questions.
“We’ve worked really hard as a team to get to this point, slowly but surely. It may look like a sudden breakthrough from an outside perspective, I guess, but that’s very far from how we’ve experienced it. Although, I’ll be the first to admit that those first couple of seasons in Seattle were tough. Extremely tough. We were fighting so hard every single day, trying to get some semblance of proper teamwork, trying to get our plays to work, get anything to work, really. A lot of the guys were rookies, and many of us who weren’t had been pretty shocked by our trades. We did alright, for a new team, but we all knew that we should be doing better. That was the thing, really – we all felt that we could be so much more. Maybe, if we had believed that a little bit less, things might not have felt so hopeless at the time.”
Whisk speaks with a familiarly serious expression. Some of my fellow sports journalists have pronounced him subdued, and stiff, and on one memorable occasion, unemotional. Yet as we continue to chat about his teammates over a second cup of coffee, and Whisk goes into detail about what the Kraken’s recent achievements have meant for each of them, those descriptors couldn’t be further from the picture Whisk paints. Connor Whisk is clearly compassionate. Effortlessly earnest. Irresistibly determined.
"Last season, when we made it to the playoffs for the first time, that was such an important milestone. It proved to us that we’d had it right, all along. That as a team, we could be capable of anything. And I think, especially for the older guys who’d uprooted the lives of their families after their trades, getting that recognition from the whole league was so important. It’s definitely helped us feel like we have every reason to go into each game with that much more confidence, this season. Our plays are bigger, bolder and braver, and it’s really been paying off. This year, the goal is to make sure that energy lasts us not only all the way to the playoffs, but much further beyond.”
Whisk speaks about his teammates with both respect and compassion. It’s really quite obvious just how he's earned himself the title of Assistant Captain. And on the subject of leadership – is there any truth to the retirement rumours surrounding the Kraken’s current Captain, Donald “Ducky” Rodriguez? And would Connor Whisk agree with the consensus among both supporters and sports media, that he is practically guaranteed to inherit the title?
It's the first time since the start of our conversation that I find a certain amount of evasiveness in Whisk's answer.
"It's difficult to say. Every player has their own journey, and I can't speak for Ducky when it comes to his thoughts on possible retirement. As for my own feelings on the subject, I'd prefer it if Ducky just stayed in the game forever." Whisk laughs. "Really, I would. Ducky probably wouldn't have described his trade from the Aeros to the Kraken as the best thing that ever happened to him, back when it all went down, but it was honestly one of the best things that could've happened to me. I had looked up to Ducky for a long time, and having such an experienced player join us made an enormous difference for a lot of us who were relatively new to the game. We've had a great run together in Seattle, and I know Ducky has talked at length about how rewarding it's been for him to captain this team, especially at this point in his career. And honestly, I can't even really think about what might happen after his eventual retirement. I just can't. I guess I'm just trying to focus on the now, one game at a time, until the end of this season. That's as far as I'm allowing myself to think."
Of course, on the subject of the Houston Aeros, I must ask about the rumour that seems to circle back around every so often without ever being properly addressed. It's time we all knew, once and for all. Did Connor Whisk, during his time as a free agent, really decline an offer from the Houston Aeros? If so, when? And, perhaps most importantly, why?
"No, I did." Avid Aeros supporters will be pleased to know that Whisk has the decency to look quite apologetic. "It was during my time in the NCAA. I found it a very interesting offer, but ultimately, it just wasn't the right time for me. I'm sure it would've been a journey that was rewarding in other ways than the path I'm on, now. But sometimes, you've got to go with your heart, and my heart was very much still in Massachusetts with the Samwell team. I was very lucky to be able to make that decision and still have such great opportunities to play professionally after graduation. That was never something I took for granted, when I made that call."
Before we run out of coffee, and more importantly out of time, I remember to ask about Whisk’s tattoos. As frequent readers of Sports Illustrated will be well aware, he has two, both on his upper right arm. According to my quite extensive knowledge of Whisk’s frankly limited media appearances, he has never once commented on them.
Evidently, they're not some big secret. Whisk readily rolls up his sleeve.
“The first one, got your back, is a saying from my college hockey team. It’s about always looking out for your teammates on and off the ice. My time on the Samwell team really meant a lot to me, I was fortunate enough to play alongside incredible NCAA players like Eric Bittle, Will Poindexter and Nathan Piper. I learned so much, both about hockey and about myself. A lot of the guys actually got the exact same tattoo at some point, without any of us really talking about it. It caused a bit of unintended comedy at our last reunion.”
The second tattoo, know where we stand, is placed just a few inches below the first.
“That one is more personal. It's about having trust and faith in those I love, about making sure they always know how much they mean to me. I'm a somewhat private person, I guess, but anyone close to me could tell you that it's very important for me to make sure that my feelings are known.”
Private is certainly a word that comes to mind. Whisk doesn't agree to many interviews, and his fans have long given up hope of getting more than one or two TV appearances per season, post-game interviews not included. He's on Twitter, as is the whole Kraken rooster, but his activity is mostly limited to retweets of various sports accounts. His instagram feed? Almost exclusively pictures of his aquarium.
At the mention of aquatic creatures, Whisk’s expression brightens.
“My housemate actually took this amazing picture of our axolotl a while back, I have to show you. Look at this magnificent queen.”
Somewhere between several anecdotes about Whisk’s certifiably adorable pets, and a tangent about his commitment to supporting organisations working towards marine conservation, we do finally run out of time. As we say our goodbyes, I’m reminded once again of Whisk’s polite, proper manners, a stark contrast to his somewhat unfeeling reputation. But if one thing’s for certain, it’s that Connor Whisk is anything but unfeeling. He’s reserved, yes, and perhaps somewhat reluctant to put his innermost thoughts and feelings on display. But he’s certainly an impressively focused athlete, one who has proven time and time again to have an admirable commitment to supporting his teammates, on and off the ice.
I can only imagine the regret that must be felt over in Pittsburgh. Seattle, meanwhile, has every reason to celebrate. It’s really something, given how much Whisk has already achieved, that he still gives off the energy of someone who’s got so far to go. The question is, just how far is that going to get him, in the end?
Will he be remembered only as a key factor in the foundation of Seattle’s so-far successful expansion endeavour, or could he be a true star player in the making, one on the verge of creating a legacy that will last well beyond a time and a place?
Only time will tell.
    Whiskey lets the door fall shut behind him. He takes a deep, steadying breath.
There’s a familiar suitcase that’s been left right in the hallway. Whiskey quickly toes off his shoes and walks past it. Ah, there’s a t-shirt. And a bit further, a pair of jeans. Then socks.
Whiskey follows the enticing trail of clothes into the living room. He passes by the mantelpiece, where his Samwell Men's Hockey Captain's plaque sits right in the center, with his Art Ross Trophy from last season over on the side.
Out in the kitchen, he finds a pair of boxer briefs. The double doors out to the patio are wide open. Whiskey eagerly steps through them, his feet quickly carrying him across the patio, over to-
Yes.
Oh, yes. Finally.
Miguel breaks through the surface of the water just as Whiskey makes it to the side of the pool. Immediately, Miguel offers him a wide smile. He looks so perfectly relaxed, back in his pool, in their home. In the nude.
God, he’s so beautiful.
“Water’s warm,” Miguel greets him softly. He trails his fingertips across the surface of it, almost like he’s reacquainting himself with how it feels. “Much more pleasant than the Atlantic, let me tell you.”
“I’ll take that as an invitation.”
“Oh, please. Come here.” Miguel’s tone turns impatient as Whiskey pulls off his shirt, only to take a moment to fold it. “Fuck, just, come here. I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve missed you too. So much.”
Whiskey willingly abandons his attempts to keep his clothes from getting wrinkles. He makes quick work of his pants and underwear, before he lets himself slip into the water. Immediately, he gathers Miguel up in his arms.
It’s not a languid kiss, by any means. Being separated for eight fucking weeks will do that to you. Miguel kisses Whiskey like he’s been trying to breathe underwater for months, like Whiskey is his fresh gulp of oxygen, his moment of clarity. He kisses Whiskey like Whiskey is his very reason for breathing.
Which is almost funny, given that Miguel has been doing quite a bit of breathing underwater, lately.
“Did you get bulkier?” Miguel murmurs against Whiskey's bare skin. He’s trailing his fingertips along Whiskey’s forearms. “You’re kinda firm, here. I like it.”
“Maybe a little.”
Whiskey kisses the top of his head. He lets his hands travel lower, let's his fingertips glide across Miguel's ribcage over the ink that matches Whiskey's own, four little words with so much meaning. He grins as he reaches Miguel's ass and let's his hands come to an abrupt stop. God, it's been much too long.
“S'okay. You're here, now.” Miguel shivers pleasantly from Whiskey’s touches. “Practice run over?”
“No, Angela called me in. She needed me to sign off on the final draft of that article.”
“Sports Illustrated?” Miguel recalls curiously. “How bad was it?”
“Actually, it was… Fine.” Whiskey thinks back on the feature. “Better than I expected. There’s even a couple of paragraphs where that reporter’s made me sound, I don't know. Oddly sweet.”
“You are sweet.” Miguel smiles fondly. “Is it really so bad, if people find out?”
“I suppose not,” Whiskey agrees reluctantly. He lets himself give Miguel's ass another indulgent squeeze. “And they actually included my off-hand mention of my housemate, this time. So that’s something.”
“Good job,” Miguel says with a flushed grin. “Angela must be so pleased.”
Angela Johanson, PR and communications officer for the Seattle Kraken, had indeed been extremely pleased.
Her strategy had really worked for them, so far, which was why Whiskey wasn’t too inclined to argue with it. “If you want to hide anything from those vultures in the media,” Angela had told him during one of his earliest PR briefings, “You’ve got to do it in plain sight.”
Of course, there had been other parts of Angela’s PR strategies that Whiskey had found himself arguing with. Especially during their very first conversation with one another, before he’d had the chance to inform anyone in Seattle of his situation.
It had been right after the trade – hours after, literally. Whiskey was still in Pittsburgh, both physically and mentally. And, fine, Whiskey had maybe already started to realise that Pittsburgh wasn’t completely right for him. It was a very good team, but they were so swamped with talent, and maybe fighting his way to the top of that rooster should’ve been an exciting, motivating challenge, but it wasn’t. It just wasn’t. Whiskey had spent his whole rookie year feeling like he was working against his own team. He had known there was a fair chance that he would get traded. He wasn’t even entirely opposed to the idea.
But Seattle? The Kraken? A team that, for all intents and purposes, didn’t even so much as exist, yet?
“We’re rolling out a whole media package,” Angela had informed him over the phone – as soon as Whiskey’s very first chit-chat with management was over, they’d switched him right over to PR. “There is an enormous amount of buzz right now, given that you guys are the very first players we’re signing. I’ve got some talking points to go over, and then you’re going live on channel four tonight at-”
“Hold on,” Whiskey had cut in. “It’s, I’m not… I don’t usually do many interviews.”
“Oh, you will now.” Angela actually had the audacity to sound cheerful. “We’re right in the middle of establishing our whole brand, and profiling our players in the media is an incredibly important part of that. I’m sure you’ll do just fine.”
“I’m not too interested in being a… A media profile.” Whiskey had tried his best not to panic completely. Really, he had. “I don’t… I’m fairly protective of my private life.”
“Well. You’ll certainly need to share the overall gist of it.” Angela had sounded almost confused. “We need you to be approachable, Connor. Likeable. You’re young, and very handsome, and incredibly talented. We’ve been hoping to have a broad interest in this franchise, all different age groups and so on, and right now, you’re looking a lot like our best bet to attract some real interest from young girls and women. We’re not going to miss that chance.”
“Look," Whiskey had told her flatly. "I’m going to tell you something in confidence, alright? In confidence. This needs to stay between you and me.”
“Okay? Connor, I’m not sure if-”
“I have a boyfriend.”
Angela had been quiet for well over five seconds.
“Oh,” she’d said. To her credit, there had been something like embarrassment in her tone. “I see. Of course, that’s not an issue. Not at all. We’ve done a lot of groundwork about the values of this organisation, Connor, and I want you to know that you’re going to be completely safe with us.”
“Right. Thank you.”
“And,” Angela had added, just a bit hopefully. “If you would choose to be open about that, I can assure you that you would have our full support to-”
“No,” Whiskey had interrupted. “No. I’m not going to.”
“Right.” Angela had paused. “Okay. We’d really be prepared to back you up, you know. It might cause a bit of a media frenzy, and earn us some frankly disgusting press, but we’d be ready to take that on.”
“Yes, a media frenzy sure seems like the last thing on your wishlist.” Whiskey hadn’t bothered to keep his anger out of his voice. “In any case, I’m not going to cause it for you. I’m extremely protective of my private life, and for very good reason. And I’m not going to go live on channel four, today or any other day.”
“Right, okay," Angela had said quickly. "Okay.”
There was a longer moment of silence.
“I hear you.” Angela’s tone had shifted significantly. Somewhere in the background, Whiskey thought he could hear the sound of papers being shuffled around. “I think… Well, won’t need this anymore. Or that. Hm. Let’s see.”
Whiskey managed something of a breath. He was feeling slightly calmer, although honestly not particularly regretful. Really, he’d be more than prepared to fight the Kraken’s entire PR department, if that’s what it took.
“Look.” Angela had apparently found something to say again. “I’ve seen your tapes, Connor.”
Whiskey frowned slightly.
“Okay?”
“You’re very good.” Angela’s tone was quite careful. “Very, very good. I used to play, you know, back in high school. You’re fast, and you play very smart. I’ve heard the way our head coach talks about your technique, and about your adaptability on the ice. Quite frankly, he won’t shut up about you.”
“Is any of this supposed to make me like you better?”
“That’d be nice,” Angela had said calmly, and okay, she was certainly brave. Whiskey had to give her that. “Most importantly, though, you should take me seriously when I say that we’re fully expecting you to be one of the faces of this franchise.”
“On the ice, sure, but that doesn’t-”
“And,” Angela cut in, “That means the media is going to be all over you. Even if you won’t let us schedule you for appearances, they’re going to find something to write about anyway. Really, I’m sure they’d be thrilled to publish all sorts of assumptions and speculation, especially if there’s nothing else out there to contradict them.”
Whiskey wasn’t sure what to say to that.
Angela actually had a point, was the thing.
“I understand the need to keep your professional and private lives separate,” Angela had continued. “And, Connor, I’d really like to help you with that. Because you’re going to need help. If we could work together and figure out a level of public visibility that you could actually be comfortable with, that would definitely keep a lot of so-called journalists from spinning a narrative that we have no control over.”
“Right.” Whiskey hadn’t needed to hesitate much longer. “I understand that. Honestly, I’ve seen the way certain publications go after some of our big names here in Pittsburgh. I’d hate to face something like that without a solid plan for how to handle it.”
“We don’t want you to feel like you’re facing anything on your own, or without a plan.” Angela had sounded quite hopeful once more. “Connor, I… I’m sorry if I came on too strong, just now, and demanded too much from you. We’re genuinely thrilled that you will be joining us in Seattle. I hope that you and I can figure out a media strategy that actually works for you."
“That sounds good.” Surprisingly, Whiskey actually meant it. “I, uh. This is all extremely important to me. I appreciate that you’re making an effort to see my perspective.”
“Of course.” Angela’s tone had been warm. “My job is ultimately about supporting you, you know.”
“Well.” Whiskey had actually smiled. “I suppose I’m glad to have you on the team, then.”
“That’s my line, isn’t it?” Angela had chirped pleasantly. “So. I’m cancelling with channel four. Let’s talk about alternatives for how to make your first impression.”
Whiskey hadn’t quite understood, back then, just how invaluable Angela was going to prove herself during his time in Seattle.
He also would never have guessed that, over a series of meetings where the two of them had drafted contingency plans for various hypothetical scenarios of Whiskey being outed, as well as quite a few bottles of increasingly expensive red wine, he and Angela would actually end up with something not entirely unlike a friendship.
"Angela says hi, by the way," Whiskey tells Miguel presently. They've made it out of the water – except, Miguel's already dived back in. Whiskey has sat himself down on the edge of the pool, content to stick his feet in and just watch Miguel. "She practically demanded that we have her over for dinner, this weekend, when I mentioned you were coming back home."
"Oh, I'd love to see Angela." Miguel dips beneath the surface, just briefly. "You could make those dark chocolate brownies for dessert."
Whiskey smiles.
"You've missed my desserts."
"Come on, try again." Miguel grins. "You're so close."
"Ah. You've missed my chocolate desserts."
Miguel rolls his eyes. He disappears back underwater with a playful splash.
Whiskey smiles softly as he watches Miguel swim down, down towards the bottom of the pool. He still remembers the first time Miguel took him swimming, remembers how his breath hitched at the sight of Miguel moving in the water, his lithe, flexible body completely in control. It was, and honestly still is, the most beautiful thing Whiskey has ever seen.
There's a picture of the two of them that hangs framed in their bedroom. It was taken the summer before last, during a trip they took to see Miguel's family. Miguel is looking at the camera, and his smile is the one that Whiskey loves the most – it's soft and warm and just so lovely. His brown eyes are wonderfully bright in the sunlight. He looks beautiful, and full of life and love. He looks perfect.
In the picture, Whiskey isn't looking at the camera. Instead, he is looking at Miguel. He's smiling, too, and although his smile isn't anywhere near as radiant as Miguel's, it's definitely gentle and content. He looks happy.
They both look happy.
The picture sometimes makes Whiskey wonder what others see, when they look at the two of them. Miguel, so full of energy and life, always bright with excitement and emotion, easily allowing his feelings to flow freely in any direction like a rippling, playful wave, his world a whole sea of excitement. And next to him, Whiskey. So purposeful, and focused, and bold. Always serious and earnest, making every decision with exact precision like he's carving his whole world out of ice.
And yet they come together so perfectly, almost as if they were always meant to find one another.
Miguel breaks through the surface again, with a bigger splash this time.
"I almost forgot," he says, a little breathlessly. "Whiskey. I do actually use Twitter, you know."
Whiskey frowns slightly.
"I don't."
"And as much as I love you, you're not the only account on there." Miguel rolls his eyes. "You Can Play made a pretty interesting announcement, today. Did you see it?"
Ah. Quickly, Whiskey looks away.
"They've received another one of those big donations," Miguel continues. He sounds delighted. "And still no sender, can you believe it? Funny, how this always happens right after you win another big game."
Whiskey ducks his head, grinning. It's only happened a handful of times, that Whiskey has managed to quietly donate a few thousand dollars to You Can Play without Miguel connecting the dots. Ever since that first time, when You Can Play had announced their deepest gratitude to an anonymous donor the very same week that Whiskey had received his signing bonus, and Miguel had immediately texted Whiskey a string of cash emojis and a question mark, it's become something of a game between them.
"Fine. You win this time."
"I win every time." Miguel grins, too. "I guess I should just be grateful that you haven't splurged too much on another ridiculous welcome-home present. I'm still getting over the shock from last time."
"You love the pool," Whiskey reminds him softly. He clears his throat. "I, uh. I might actually have gotten you something."
Miguel stills.
"Please tell me it's something that fits inside the house, this time."
"Well..." Whiskey knows that it's better if he just sticks to his plan of showing Miguel, when he gets the chance. They've been making loose plans for a trip to Boston, anyhow, and Miguel definitely won't mind going back to the New England Aquarium. Especially when he finds out that they'll be attending the opening ceremony for the aquarium's new, privately funded manatee conservation program. "It's not really something you can take home. But I know you're going to love it."
"Okay, mister." Miguel looks a little bit weary. "God, you've got that look in your eyes. I'm getting nervous."
"You'll love it," Whiskey repeats firmly. He smiles. "And, uh, speaking of love. We got a letter from Dex and Nursey, yesterday."
Miguel's eyebrows shoot up.
"A letter? Don't you guys text, like, a lot?"
"They've finally set a date."
"Oh," Miguel exclaims. His smile widens. "Oh, that is so exciting! We're going to a wedding!"
"We are, yeah." Whiskey smiles, too. "I haven't RSVP'd, yet, but…"
"No, no, of course we're going." Miguel is still beaming. "Wow. Wow. Do you know what colors they're doing? Ooh, and what's their venue?"
"I don't… We can read their invitation together." Whiskey watches Miguel for a moment. "You like weddings."
Miguel pauses briefly.
"I like seeing our friends happy." He smiles. "Whiskey, you know that I don't expect… I've never really thought that I would be married."
"Me neither." Whiskey isn't quite sure how to phrase his next question. "But, just because you didn't think it was in the cards… I mean. That's not necessarily the same thing as, you know. As not wanting to?"
"I guess not," Miguel agrees easily. Still, he shakes his head. "Honestly, it's really not something I've ever dreamed of, the way some people do. My choice of career was always going to be a big commitment for me, one that would certainly make things complicated in the romance department. But then you came along, and we've managed to build this life together, and it's just… It's so perfect. I don't need anything more."
"I know." Whiskey returns his smile. "I love the life we've built together, too. But, I'm just… Well. Actually. I've been thinking."
Slowly, Miguel's expression shifts.
"You have?"
"It's not…" Whiskey begins, only to pause. He needs to get this right. "It's something I'm still thinking about. I don't have all the right answers, yet."
"Okay." Miguel tilts his head. "Whiskey, did… Did something happen? To make you question yourself?"
Whiskey's smile softens. It's really something, how Miguel knows him so well.
"Kind of," he admits. "You know I went home, recently?"
"Yeah. For a funeral, right?"
"Exactly. My one of my uncles passed."
"Right." Miguel is nodding, even though his expression is somewhat confused. "I don't… You said you two weren't very close?"
"No, we weren't," Whiskey agrees. "But still, I… It got me thinking."
"About marriage?"
"About death." Whiskey almost smiles when Miguel's eyebrows shoot up. "I promise this isn't constantly on my mind, okay? It's just something I've kept coming back to, recently. Something I haven't ever thought about before."
"Okay." Miguel watches him in apparent confusion. "Whiskey, I'm sorry. You've lost me."
Whiskey takes a deep breath.
"When we die, I want them to bury me next to you."
Miguel is quiet for a moment.
"Oh," he says. His tone is careful. "I… Oh."
"And I don't think that would be possible," Whiskey continues. He actually smiles. "Unless… You know."
"Wait. Really?" Miguel actually manages to sound equal parts serious, and reproachful. It's really quite something. "Connor. I may never have dreamed of the perfect proposal, but if this is your idea of one, death might greet you a whole lot sooner than you think."
"No, it's not," Whiskey says quickly. "It's… I haven't finished thinking about this, not yet. I mostly feel like I don't really know what I should want."
"Maybe what you should want isn't the right question." Miguel sounds slightly more calm. He pauses to actually think for a moment. "You know, I'm… I hadn't really thought about that, either. But you… I think you have a point. You really do."
For a moment, they just look at one another.
"Well," Whiskey says lightly. It feels like something significant has shifted between them. It feels big. "I guess we'll see?"
"Yeah." Miguel seems to have found his smile again. "It wouldn't have to be an extravagant affair. You'd hate that."
"I would," Whiskey agrees. "But, at the same time… We wouldn't necessarily need to keep it just between you and me."
"I like that." Miguel tilts his head again. "You know, if… If we did? The world would find out, eventually. When we're gone, if nothing else."
"Yeah. I know."
"I don't know how I feel about that. I'll need some more time." Miguel's tone is unusually thoughtful. "But you would be okay with it?"
"I… I guess." Whiskey pauses for a moment. Suddenly, he remembers everything Angela's told him about the importance of taking control over the narrative. And honestly? Just like always, she has a point. "Except, if that is the path we take, maybe we should actually make sure that we have a say in how this story gets told? Not anytime soon, but, I don't know. At some point down the line."
"Right." Miguel is nodding, even though he still looks quite contemplative. "That's probably not a decision we should rush into."
"There's no need. We can figure it out at whatever pace feels right." Whiskey offers him another smile. "Thank you, by the way."
"For what?"
"For listening to me. For going through all of this with me."
"That's not something you need to thank me for." Miguel's smile softens into the one Whiskey loves best. "It's, you know. Sickness and health, good times and bad times. No matter what we tell the world, we both know that's what this is."
"Yeah," Whiskey agrees softly.
Sometimes, he still can't believe that they got here in the end. He smiles, helplessly.
"That's right. You're exactly right."

Like okay
I'm sorry if this looks like I'm saying a whole lot of nothing, and I'm making no sense lol I am very bad at wording things correctly.
I feel like a lot of players aren't considered "good," simply because they play for a team that's like. At the bottom of the league. And that don't actually put effort into winning and it SUCKS.
I don't think practice is the only thing that makes a player good, especially if you're only going to rely on their stats (you really shouldn't), because hockey, and most other sports out there, is a team effort.
Not only does a player's teammates make them a good player, but also coaching and management. You can't have a good goalie without their defensemen having their back, and you can't have good plays and goals come out of a certain forward without their linemates helping make those plays happen. People only look at players individually, and only the ones that play on bigger and more successful teams. Players like Nathan MacKinnon, and Sidney Crosby have so much fame not only because they are currently good, but because they have been like that since before they came into the league, and they happen to be with such big franchises (if you wanna consider the avs lol??). But I see other players who have had slow starts, or who were/are with teams that are consistently at the bottom of tge league not getting enough praise, or they're getting none at all.
We can take Jack Eichel or even Taylor Hall as an example. Even though they are with much better teams now, I know that these guys have a lot of talent to show off but were unable to do so. Also Andre Burakovsky, who is definitely getting the attention he deserves right now, but he never really got what he needed for himself when he was with the caps.
I also like thinking about Phil Kessel and Clayton Keller for this, mainly because that's what got me thinking about this whole thing. They play on a team at 31st place in the standings. This team and you can tell from players stats alone, doesn't score many goals, and have only won 9 of 37 games played. These two players barely get recognition outside of their own team, because the franchise is pretty horrible. Phil is known for winning a couple cups with the pens, and Clayton is known for....not much. These two currently prove that you shouldn't look at a players individual statistics, but look at who they're playing for first. Look at the state of their franchise. Realize that players may only have such tough careers because their team is not the best fit.
And it's not only that people have this bias for more popular/better teams, it's that barely any fans believe in growth. People just see a player in his rookie year, or even for his first few years and just automatically get drawn to the conclusion that they're always gonna be that way.
People seen Jack Hughes play in his rookie season and immediately called him a bust, and pretty much lost faith in him. That's how Tyson Jost was too. He still kinda is. For some players, like these two, it takes some time because this league could be something completely different from where they were initially, or their teams just brought them in too early. It's not really their fault. And some players that started out like this, even after developing, could still get the same reputations as they had during their bad seasons.
What I'm trying to get at here is that I hate how teams matter so much in determining who is and isn't a "good" player. So many of them have sooooo much talent but it can't be seen because of their first couple of seasons not being their best, or because they are being overshadowed by entire franchises that are doing better than their own. I'm sorry if this was a bunch of nonsense, but I felt like sharing.

JEALOUS
Tumblr media
Nathan Bateman x reader.
Summary: you persuade your husband to go to your collage reunion but thing get a little messy leading you to leave early but that doesn’t mean that you didn’t had a little fun.
Warnings: smut, so please if you’re not 18+ don’t read it, unprotected sex (remember always use a condom) dom Nathan.
A/N: hey everyone, I’m excited because this is my first one shot about Nathan I hope you like it, I based on an episode of Gilmore girls and I thought that maybe Nathan was the right character for this, let me know what you think!
————————————
When you met Nathan you knew he was a difficult man, a brilliant and handsome man but still difficult, but on the moment he lay his eyes on you, he knew you have to be his, and even if your relationship wasn’t completely normal, you love the man and you know that no matter how many fights you had or how many nights you spend alone because of his work, you know you wouldn’t change anything about him. You smile when you feel an arm around your waist, when you turn around you see that he still has his eyes closed, his now curl hair was a mess and he had a little smile.
-Stop staring, I can’t sleep if you stare at me- he said.
-Now you feel how I felt last night.
-You didn’t complain about that, on the contrary, it seem like you were enjoying it- he said, making you smile before you give him a quick kiss, when he look at you and notice that you were debating about something -What is it?
-What are you talking about?
-You have your thinking face...
-I don’t have a thinking face!- you said.
-Of course you do, you frown a little your eyebrows, look down and bite your lip...
-Everyone do that- you said said, he just shrugged -ok what I was thinking is... there’s a reunion...- he sighed.
-Come on baby, your better than those stupid reunions, you shouldn’t distract on those dumb things.
-But... it would be fun, we could see old friends, we can make fun of the guys we used to hate...
-Or we could stay home working on Ava, that’s important, we’re creating something important...
-But one free night won’t make the difference, we could go see if it’s funny and if it’s lame we can come straight back home and I would never try to convince you of going to this kind of things, but... if it’s fun... we could dance together, have a couple of drinks and have a great night- you wink at him, he thought for a moment before he sighed again.
-Fuck, you win- he said not really excited, you kiss his cheek -beside I have to go to the university tomorrow...
-Really, why?- you asked him.
-They want me to give a lecture...
-Honey that’s great, Can I come with you?- he shook his head.
-I don’t think that’s a good idea...
-Because I wouldn’t understand it?
-No because I won’t be able to concentrate because I’ll be watching my beautiful wife instead to be concentrate and I would feel like the idiot of your ex boyfriend.
-Are you really going to be jealous about him?
-I’m jealous that he have the change to taste you first- he said making you blush.
The hole morning you were trying to found the perfect dress for the reunion, one of your oldest friend told you that it was going to be something elegant and fancy, just the kind of party that Nathan hate, honestly he hate all the parties but while there was alcohol he tolerate them, he never refuse to a drink and sometimes you hate that but even if that was one of his defects you love the man. As you drove to the party you think on your husband, you picture him with his cocky attitude as he give the lecture, you want to be there but no matter how much you try to convive him he didn’t want you to go and he insist to meet you at the party, so now you were on a car all by yourself. When you get there you park in front of the valets and wait for on of the boys to show up.
-Yn, is that you?- You look to your ex boyfriend smiling outside your car.
-Michael, hey, I didn’t see you there, how are you?- You said.
-I been fine, you look really pretty...- You didn’t know what he said, before you know it someone crash in to you car -Oh my god, Yn are you ok?
-Stay away from my wife!- Nathan said as he get down from his car and made his way to where you were -Yn...
-Nathan! Had you lost your mind?- you said angry.
-I misjudged the distance...
-You misjudged? You hit my car!- you said angry.
-I was distracted...
-Yn, are you ok?- Michael asked you winning a deadly look from Nathan.
-You stay out of this, I’m her husband... I’ll asked her if she’s ok- he look at you concerned, but you can still look jealousy on his eyes -Are you ok?
-Maybe is a good idea if you see a doctor...
-Why don’t you just shut the fuck up and leave my wife alone- Nathan said -Come on Yn I’ll take you home- he said as he took your hand and guide you to his car, he turn to the valet and give him instructions for your car.
The whole travel none of you say a word, not even when you get home, the second the door opens you get inside the house and made your way to your bedroom, you could feel Nathan behind you, he didn’t say a thing until you finally stop.
-So that was the reason you were dying to go to that party?- he asked you, you rolled your eyes.
-No Nathan, I didn’t even know he was going to be there, I want to se my old friends see how they were doing, but you had to get drunk and crash my car...
-I’m not drunk.
-Of course you are!- You said -I could smell you back there, you know that you could hurt me?
-Of course not, I know how physics work, darling...
-You bastard... you do it on purpose?
-Yeah! You know maybe I was a little drunk because a few assholes were talking about this girl on the collage who everyone want to fuck but just one guy did it properly- he said as he push you to the wall making you gasp -and I was intrigued, who was that girl? But then you name came up and I smile when I remember all the moans and all the times you came because of my cock...
-Nathan- you whisper when you feel his hand traveling through your back as he unzip your dress and squeezed your ass.
-But...- he took your chin and make you look at him -when the name of that idiot come from their lips- he chuckle -I might got a little jealous -he guide you to the near table and pick you up- maybe took a few drinks and then I saw him talking and smiling to you that kind of make my blood boil- he start to kiss you neck as one of his hand play with your breast.
-Nathan... God...- you feel how his hand left your breast and travel through your side before it landed on your panties -Please...
-Tell me what you want sweetheart.
-I need you...- he kiss you roughly, but the kiss didn’t last long before you press your forehead on his arm when he start to play with your clit.
-Shit sweetheart your soaking...- you didn’t say anything, you keep moaning as he insert a finger inside you, you saw the smirk, you could feel the knock that was forming on you but before you could let go, he took his fingers out of you and he shook his head -uh uh, you’re not going to came until my cock is inside you and you remember who you belong, did you understand?- You nod -say it sweetheart.
-I understand sir- he smirk.
-Take off the rest of your cloths and lay on the bed... and if you touch yourself you don’t get to came- he said.
You do as he said, he saw the way you take off your clothes and walk to the bed and wait for your husband, with every second it pass you want him more and you knew he was teasing you, he want you to wait for him, and when he finally get to the room with just his boxer you, you smile, he try to keep his face straight as he take off his boxer letting you see his cock.
-Spread those legs for me darling- you did as he said and he smile -Shit darling your fucking perfect- he said as he bump himself a few times, you try to reach for him but he shook his head -Sorry darling but as much as I love your mouth, today is all about you- you look at him confuse but he just place between your legs and trust you, your head fall back as you moan -shit, this tight little pussy is mine, do you understand?- You nod, and he start to move at first it was slowly but every trust became harder than the last one, making you scream Nathan’s name -That’s it darling, let the hall neighborhood know who fuck you this good- he grown when you clench your walls on him -Did he do this to you?- he asked you -did he make you a mess of moans like I do?- You shook your head, he keep trust you again, your legs were around his waist trying to make him close, he smile before he lean over an put your nipple on his mouth, your hands travel to his hair as your back keep arching, you could feel the knot start to became bigger and bigger -Beg for it, sweetheart- but he didn’t had an answer in that moment he found that exact place that made you crazy -Fucking beg for it.
-Nathan... please... Let me come...
-Not until you tell me who is the best sex you had- he trust harder making you scream -who make you scream like a whore?
-Fuck... you Nathan...- he smirk and his trust became faster and he start to play with you clit again.
-Let go sweetheart...- he groan and he knew he was getting close -come for me...
In that moment you feel like something explode inside you, and you feel the air stuck in your chest as your orgasm wash all over you, Nathan didn’t last long after you, you could feel his cum feeling you and how he fall above you while he try to calm himself, when his breaths became normal he made you lay down on your side without getting out of you.
-Fuck baby, that was amazing- you said with a smile, he put a lock of your hair behind your ear.
-I’ll take your car to the workshop tomorrow- you nod -And I’m sorry for how I act, I was jealous...- you kiss him.
-You shouldn’t be jealous, he doesn’t mean anything to me, beside even when I was with him I always want you to fuck me- he laugh.
-I should bring something to clean you- she shook her head.
-Can we stay for a moment like this?- she ask shyly.
-You keep surprising me- he said before he kiss your forehead -You know maybe it’s time to creat something together.
-I thought we already working on Ava...
-I wasn’t talking about that, I was talking about to make our family growth- she smile.
-I’ll really like that.
-Should we start it now?- he said making you giggle and then kiss him deeply.

Listen to me!
Tumblr media
I guess you're all expecting me to say something about what happened. I should, after all, I hid this piece of information from you, not that I owe it to you, but I guess it's confusing...
'More than just a dream...'
Josh and I are still holding hands while we start the tour, and I wish I could say I was feeling bad about it but to be honest I'm still way too drunk on the bliss to be ashamed. I felt bad though, I did promise Nathan a date before everything went to hell. As a matter of fact, he was going to be my homecoming date.
Where to start? Perhaps you'd like to know who Nathan was in my group of friends? Easy.
*Throwback time*
Nathan was the 'popular' of our group. Do you know how there's always that one friend that seems to know everyone for really strange reasons? The one that 'knows a guy, that knows a guy, that has a cousin'... that's Nathan.
He was also the good looking guy of our group. I know I said Alex was attractive, but man, Nathan was the real deal, he had charisma and a great smile, try to beat that when you're sixteen and have zero social skills.
I didn't have a crush on him though, but it was a very well thought decision like I said before, I wasn't going to let someone close to me break my heart, and both Nathan and Alex were too close, so I buried those thoughts about him before I could even consider it.
I never had a thing for him until... well, until he asked me to homecoming. I never knew why he asked me, I mean sure we were good friends but he never tried to make a move (and this is not me being oblivious this is me saying Nathan never even commented on my looks not even once). While I do remember having said to him something along the lines of "you're so pretty you annoy me" one night while I was completely shitfaced.
He laughed it off then, not bringing it up to tease me the next morning. He knew he was attractive and I certainly used to dream about dashing men like him coming to take me out for a ride or a movie, but I never thought that it'd be him the one who would ask me out.
'All the days I waited for you You know the ones who said I'd never find someone like you'
Then the end of the world happened and we never went to homecoming, yet we remained on the same group until one day he just vanished. No notes, no nothing. He left. He was also the first one to go, followed by Aria, then Phillip, then Lily, until we were just Maya, Alex and I, you know the rest.
We heard about Nathan a few weeks later though, the first loner on Glendale (Josh was very good at keeping a low profile, we didn't know he was by himself) and I thought it was a great idea to do the same, you know, follow the loner's path until I had Katie back... and you know how that turned out.
My point is, how was I supposed to know he was going to come back and still ask me for a date? What kind of person does that?
"Here we have the Cheeramazon division," Josh pointed to the sports section of the mall. "We teach sign language for those who are interested in learning, it's also handy for communicating while we're outside on a Ghoulie area..."
"Why're they here?" Nathan asked in a voice that was completely unlike him. "I mean, I know their old place got trashed but why haven't they looked for a new place?"
"They don't have enough people or resources," I replied. "They'll wait here until enough girls decide to join them or until they get enough food to survive on their own."
"And you guys are okay with that?"
"Good relationships with old tribes are everything," I shrugged. "We want to keep it friendly with everyone, we don't want to start another war."
"Really? Because you seemed ready to go out and set houses on fire five minutes ago," Josh replied sternly.
"That's different!" I scoff. "Those kids need our help and you know it!"
"What kids?" Nathan asked in curiosity.
"Are you familiar with the AV club?" I ask him.
"The kids with the podcast?"
"Exactly! They've been kidnapped and I've been trying to convince my tribe to go out and look for them but they refuse–"
"Because we're barely recovering from Triumph," Josh interrupted. "Listen Y/N, we can't be heroes fighting against some kids in suits..."
"Here we have the gamer's layer," I continue, forcing them to leave the subject. "But you don't have to write that down, they're leaving in a few days to their old cave. Been here to help us with some tech stuff..."
"Those over there are the X-jocks," Josh points over a couple of kids playing and exercising at the other side of the mall, "they followed Turbo after he was kicked out. They're no longer Jocks, but they don't want to be called Daybreakers either."
"They don't wanna mingle with all the weirdos, apparently," I roll my eyes.
"We have a healers division, which is coordinated by Y/N," Josh puts a hand on my shoulder and smiles. "She's great... a training division that Wesley and Turbo handle... Am I missing something?"
"The Daybreakers, which are lead by this loser," I look at Josh with a smirk. "He schedules our vigilance system, the hunts– Oh, and the weekly competitions."
"What are those about?"
"We organize tournaments and the awards are free days from working or having to go outside, stuff like that."
"Okay," Nathan nods, writing everything down. "I think that's all..."
"Cool," Someone calls Josh and he looks back at us. "Can you finish the tour on your own?"
"I– Yeah, okay," I reply anxiously. "See you in a while..."
Josh gives me a quick kiss and leaves to where he's needed, leaving me alone with Mister 'U-owe-me-a-date'.
"So..." I awkwardly start.
"I think I owe you an apology," He replies immediately.
"What?"
"I didn't know you and Josh... what I said was completely out of place anyway, who asks that kind of stuff to someone they haven't seen in months? I–"
"Nathan," I stop him, "It's okay, really, you didn't know, it's alright."
"I'm sorry," He repeats, this time calmer. "I ditch you and the group, I just... I don't know, I felt stuck..."
"I get that, we left too, eventually," I shrug. "Went to look for my sister, but... she died."
"Oh," He frowns. "I'm so sorry... was she–?"
"A Ghoulie, yeah," I sigh. "It's okay, I'm better now, I have this place and I have..."
"Josh..."
"I was going to say I have a sledgehammer, but sure," I joke.
He smiles and suddenly I remember why I used to like his smile so much. It really is quite dreamy.
'And you were out of my league All the things I believed You were just the right kind Yeah, you were more than just a dream'
"Those kids..." He mentions. "The AV club?"
"Yeah?" My heart jumps at the mention. "Do you know anything about them? Anything that could help?"
"No, but Josh mentioned kids in suits? I think I've seen them–"
"Y/N!" Josh runs back to us in a hurry. "They found them!"
"What? Who?"
"The AV Club!" He replies.
I try to walk over to the gamer's layer but Josh stops me.
"Wait," He holds me in place. "It's an X-Pug zone."
"That, or the kids in suits want us to believe it is," I point out, "Josh let me go! I want to know where it is!"
"We're not taking anyone there! You know we can't, Y/N! We don't have enough people, who knows how many of those are out there..."
I want to argue back but I know that Josh is right.
"Fine," I let go of his arms and he does the same with me. "Can I at least take a look? Maybe one day we'll go and... and just take a look..."
Josh doesn't need me to end the sentence though, he understands.
"Okay," He starts walking when Nathan speaks up.
"Can I see?"
We turn to see him, both wearing the same confused expression.
"It's just..." He moves his weight from one foot to the other. "I was telling Y/N that I've seen those kids before and maybe... I could talk to Sam, maybe she'd like to help?"
I look at Josh with my best puppy eyes and he sighs in defeat, nodding along.
"Fine..."
Nathan catches up with us and grins at me. What I shame I lost my chance with this guy, he looks like straight out of a fantasy, who knows, maybe he was the one meant to be with me if all this apocalypse stuff never happened in the first place...
'You were out of my league Got my heartbeat racing If I die, don't wake me 'Cause you are more than just a dream'
When we arrive Aria takes me directly to her laptop and points to the image in it. I hear her talk to Nathan for a moment while I see the streets and the directions and since I know the whole city by heart it takes me a minute to memorize the whole thing. I don't tell this to Josh, of course.
"Are you going to leave us alone now?" She asks irritatedly.
"Sure thing, you can leave during the night and I wouldn't even bat an eye at it," I reply, still looking at the screen. "Let me just..."
I pull out my phone and take a picture of the screen, is not perfect but it's quick and it's just in case. Josh gives me a warning look but I smile.
"Thank you for doing this," I step closer to him and put my arms around his neck. "See? It didn't kill us to find out, right?"
If I've learned anything in my short stupid life, is that flattery can take you places... and it distracts a boy's brain faster than anything else.
Josh smiles at me and I know I have his whole attention, so I quickly put my phone away.
"Anyway!" I break the spell and look at the gamers. "You guys did a good job, I'll leave you now. Nathan, let me walk you to the door..."
Halfway to the entrance, Nathan speaks.
"You're so not going to listen to what Josh told you to do. I know it, I can see it in your face."
"How long till I can hear from you and Sam?" I ask him in a business-like voice.
"A day, maybe two?"
"You think she'll help?"
"That if we can push Maya to a side."
"Don't mention my name and you'll have a bigger chance to succeed."
I stop at the door and turn to look at him decidedly.
"You have no idea how much this means to me."
"If you're risking your stay at the mall and your relationship with Josh, I assume a lot," He raises a brow.
"He won't kick me out for this," I roll my eyes.
"He's your leader, Y/N."
I remember that none of our feelings ever stopped Josh from kicking me out the first time. So he's not entirely wrong.
"Don't sweat it," Nathan shakes his head, "I'll do my best to keep everyone happy, just like you've been doing for the last few weeks. Consider this my thank you gift for all the hard work you've been doing, Vinchi."
"Oh," I cringe. "I don't really go by that nickname anymore..."
"Oh, sorry," He pouts. "Just Y/N, then?"
"Unless you have a new nickname for me," I grin.
Nathan tilts his head like he's considering what I'm saying.
"I'll think about it," He smiles.
"I'll see you in two days," I smile back.
'Yeah, you were more than just a dream...'
Taglist.

Opposites Attract| Tyson Jost
Summary: Tyson meets his perfect girl but may be too shy to admit his feelings for his new friend
A/N: Kinda fluffy, I started this a little while ago and I’m hoping I ended it okay
Tyson wasn’t used to people wearing his jersey. Sure the fans loved him but when you played with a superstar like Nathan and guys who’d been at the same team way longer, that's just how things were. So it wasn’t a huge surprise that his face lit up when y/n arrived and took her seat right behind the avs bench. It felt as if he’d turn around between every shift just to see if she was still there. And tyson had one of his best games all season. He seemed so relaxed on the ice, like he was just having fun playing hockey again.
Ever since they’d met about a month earlier he wanted to show y/n why he loved hockey so much. She was a student at UC Denver. She and her best friends decided to take advantage of a long weekend and take a trip to Aspen for the x-games. That was where she had met the boys from the avs, just out at a bar one night. It was an incredibly normal way to meet some very not normal people. Surprisingly, Tyson barely spoke to her that first night. It wasn’t that he hadn’t wanted to, in fact he tried many times. But he was shy. Not terribly shy, just when he thought a girl was beautiful like y/n it made him overthink things too much. Guys who were super talkative and outgoing like Burky just always seemed to get to her first.
But in the last month it has shifted. Y/n and burky settled in as friends, and now Tyson and y/n were well on their way to becoming something more. They talked on the phone nearly every day and hung out every chance they had. It was amazing how well they understood each other. Yet neither one would admit what was really going on. It was a classic “he/she would never feel the same way” type of situation. Feelings were buried under insecurities.
Between a few unfortunate exam dates and the Avs just finishing a long road spell, y/n hadn’t gotten to see him play yet. This was also her first NHL game. She had gone all out, sporting an Avalanche hat along with number 17’s jersey, and making sure all her accessories matched the team’s colors. During warmups Tys began to slightly regret getting her a seat so close to the ice, he worried he might get distracted. After all, she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen. But if anyone struggled during the game it was not him. Y/n couldn’t stop staring at number 17. Even between shifts she caught herself watching him sat on the bench instead of the action on the ice. Tys on the other hand channeled his thoughts into his game. He ended the night with a goal and two assists.
Y/n was waiting outside the locker room, security had escorted her back after the game had ended and she assumed Tys was behind it. He walked out chatting with EJ when he saw her. Completely frozen by the unexpected but very welcome surprise.
“A hat for the hat-trick boy” she laughed putting her hat on his head.
Tyson let out a small giggle “Hat tricks are for scoring three goals. I wasn’t even close” The blush on his cheeks and the humility in his voice only brought a bigger smile to the girl’s face.
“You had a hat trick of points tonight, and if that isn’t thing yet then I’m starting it”
They were both so lost in the other that neither noticed JT come up swinging one arm over each of them.
“You guys ready? Party starts in an hour”
Sure enough all the boys gathered at the house, enjoying being able to let loose since tonight had been their last game before the all-star break.
“Are you ever going to tell her how you feel?” Gabe had caught the youngster staring at y/n while she played pong across the room.
This was the third time tonight. Gabe had been Tyson’s confidant with his crush since the beginning. He loved having someone to talk to who could give great advice, but who also knew how to keep a secret away from the rest of the locker room. It was the same story every time for the past month. Tyson’s feelings only grew each day. Despite being a professional athlete, he still worried the girl he kept falling harder and harder for was too good for him. She was studying at a great college with dreams of going to vet school. On top of being incredibly smart she was also the kindest person Tys had ever known, while still being able to chirp his teammates whenever opportunity struck. That was arguably his favorite part about her; her ability to just be in the moment and not overthink the little things. He could never turn off his brain. Writing every text three times before hitting send, staying on the ice each day when practice was over because he couldn’t stop thinking about that one shift from the last game which was less than perfect. This was normal for Tys. To a certain extent his obsessiveness had helped him get to where he was because it helped fuel his work ethic. But he was talented and at the point where he could play hockey purely on instinct and produce magic. Those were his best games, and they happened more and more since the pair had met. She was impulsive, he was cautious, but hey….opposites attract.
“It really meant a lot to me that you wore my jersey tonight.” He took a seat next to her on the couch as the night began to wind down.
“You invited me of course I would”
“I know, it's just that I’m not very used to it. The feeling of being on the ice and looking up to see your number in the crowd...it’s amazing”
From the day they met being around each other had been so natural. Yet she couldn’t help but feel as though this whole thing was just one long fantasy. Normal girls didn’t just randomly meet NHL players, let alone befriend and date them. But the haze of alcohol and the look on his face told her this couldn’t be imagined. Not with this much detail. So she accepted her situation, and when a bold courageous girl loses that wall of denial, she does exactly what she’d been wanting to do all along...
And she leaned in, planting a kiss on Tyson’s lips.
He was in shock. It was almost to the point of sending her the wrong signal since it took so long for him to kiss her back. But once he did neither could help but smile.
“I was about to tell you I liked you, and maybe ask you out on a date.”
“I couldn’t wait any longer” She smiled, biting her lip at the same time.
And once again, Tyson Jost remembered y/n was his perfect compliment.
I haven’t finished posted many of my writings so any feedback is super appreciated. Hope you guys liked it

He Doesn’t Have to Know - Nathan Mackinnon
Summary: Nate is a bartender working a slow shift when you walk in.
Word Count: 2.8K
Warnings: cheating, smut, the works
Tumblr media
Tuesday nights. Nate had a love-hate relationship with the shift. On one hand, he mostly got paid to sit around and do nothing because hardly anyone showed up. On the other hand, few people meant few tips, and he got bored really easily.
He and Ej are messing around in the back when you walk in. He “accidentally” poured a glass of water on Ej’s chest which created a dilemma when your uniform consisted of a thin white dress shirt.
“Are you kidding me, man,” he says as he rolls his eyes, “you gotta take her, man. I can’t go out like this.”
“Are you sure?” Nate teases, “you might get a bigger tip looking like that, Magic Mike.”
“Shut up and go, dumbass.”
Nate laughs as he walks out the door. The first thing he notices about you is how well you’re dressed - which isn’t surprising considering everyone who comes here is rich and he assumes you’re no different. The second thing the notices is the gigantic ring on your finger, a ring that screamed “TAKEN” from a mile away.
“Evening ma’am,” he greets, “what can I get you?”
He watches your eyes travel up and down his body. Nate’s a good looking guy - played hockey when he was younger, goes to the gym every day - and his uniform hugs him in all the right places. Sure he could go up a size in shirts, but if he’s totally honest, he doesn’t mind the stares.
“Cosmo,” you say after a slight pause.
“Yes ma’am,” he starts on your drink and your smile. That’s when he notices, your nails, lipstick and dress are all the same shade of deep red that compliments your skin tone.
“Pretty lonely down here,” you say as he hands you his drink.
He shrugs, “I don’t mind. It means that I can talk with a pretty girl like you.”
So Nate flirted with married women every once in a while. He needed the tips!
“Oh, I bet you say that to all the ladies,” you reply as you bring your drink to your lips.
“Only the breathtakingly beautiful ones,” and he’s not lying. He doesn’t really flirt with anyone he doesn’t find attractive. And you were striking.
Just then, an immaculately dressed man walks in. His suit is some high-end brand Nate doesn’t know the name of but can recognize that it probably costs the same amount he paid for his car. His shoes are some soft leather without any creases and the face of his watch takes up his entire wrist. Dude was bougie.
He walks over to you and gives you a kiss on the cheek. So this must be the owner of the ring, Nate thinks.
“What can I get for you, sir?”
“Didn’t my wife already order for me,” he asks as he pulls out his phone and starts scrolling.
“No, sir.”
“Maybe you weren’t listening,” he replies as he taps his ear.
Nate takes a deep breath but you cut in before he can say anything.
“No, dear, your drink order changes every night, how would I know what you wanted,”  if Nate’s not mistaken there’s a slight bite to your voice.
The other man rolls his eyes, “scotch, neat.”
Nate takes a deep breath as he gets out the glass and realizes he never specified which scotch he wanted. He chooses the most expensive one and pours it into the glass. He slides it across the bar, which is the best part of his job even when the customers are dicks.
“I asked for this on the rocks,” he says he shakes the drink in Nate’s face.
Nate knows he didn’t but he’s also been doing this long enough to realize there’s no point in arguing and takes the glass to put one of the large round ice cubes from the freezer.
“Anything else I can get you?” Nate asks and prays that’s all you need.
“That’s all for now,” you say, cutting off your husband and Nate rushes to the back before he can say anything.
“Douchebag?” EJ asks while rubbing a towel on his still damp chest.
“Obviously.”
“You should have punched him.”
“I wanted to,” Nate replies as he runs his hand through his hair.
He and Ej chat for 20 minutes before Nate knows he should go out to check on you two. He tries to get Ej to do it but-
“I would rather stick my foot in the fryer than talk that man.”
And Nate would feel bad if Ej stuck his foot in the dryer because of him so he goes out instead.
When he gets outside his drink is relatively untouched and he has a stack of money in his hand.
“The cheque,” he demands and Nate walks over to the till to print it.
Thankfully he doesn’t have an argument about the prices - Nate really doesn’t think he can handle the “I just work here I don’t run the place” conversation right now.
“Are you coming with me?” he asks you after placing money in the cheque book. Surprise, surprise, he’s a lousy tipper.
“I’ve barely touched my drink.”
“Well I have to go, I’ll see you at home?”
You just nod your head and extend your neck for him to kiss your cheek. You watch as he leaves and as soon as he’s out the door you turn to Nate.
“I’m sorry about my husband,” you say holding a small piece of paper in between your fingers, “he’s a...difficult man. This should make up for his behaviour.”
He takes it and when he unfolds it he sees a 50 dollar bill.
“Are you su-“ he starts to ask but you hold up a hand, stopping him.
“Take it,” and so he does.
He starts to clean up your husband’s dishes, picking up the glass and dropping the contents in the sink. Such a waste of good scotch he thinks sadly.
“Now I hope you know that a 50 dollar tip means that you have to stay out here and talk to me.”
“I would’ve done it for free,” and he would’ve.
“It’s a small price to pay to watch your ass in that suit,” you say bringing your cup to your lips and smirking at him over the rim.
He almost drops the glass.
“Aren’t you married?”
You shrug, “he’s out right now parading himself with other women. He thinks he’s discreet but he’s not. If he can do it, why can’t I?”
Nate walks over to the bar to stand in front of you. He tries to think of anything witty to say at all but is at a loss for words.
“I’m sorry if that made you uncomfortable,” you say, “I never was good at holding my tongue.”
“Maybe if you weren’t so absolutely stunning,” he says with a slight shrug.
You laugh, “careful there, Nathaniel,” he assumes you read his name card on his chest, his boss doesn’t allow them to put nicknames on the card, “you’re flirting with a married woman.”
“You said yourself that he’s with other women, so what’s the harm in a little flirting.”
“What time do you end here, Nathaniel?”
“Not until 1 but I can probably get out of here sooner for you…”
“(Y/N).”
“(Y/N),” he finishes, “give me a few minutes.”
He sprints to the back room and pushes open the door, startling EJ.
“Was she a dick too?” he asks.
“No, actually, she gave me a 50 dollar tip and invited me to her apartment so, uh, I’m gonna head out. You’ll be fine here right?” he says so quickly he barely understands himself.
Ej just blinks, “I’m sorry she what? Invited you to her apartment?”
“Yeah, or house, or whatever. She didn’t exactly explain what she wanted to do I just assumed she meant hooking up,” he says and realizes he might be an idiot.
Ej gives him a look, “what if she’s an axe murderer.”
“Well then I read the situation very wrong, but I don’t think I did,” he grabs his coat from the coat hook, “do me a favour though if I don’t respond to you by noon tomorrow then call the cops.”
Ej sighs, “fine but I get half your tips next time we work together cause you're leaving me alone.”
“Not half.”
“Fine a quarter.”
He really doesn’t want to do that but he really, really does not want to keep you waiting so he agrees and pulls on his coat as he leaves.
“I’m good to go,” he says as he hears Ej follow him out.
“Perfect,” you say as you down the rest of your drink and hop down from the barstool.
He follows you out of the restaurant, appreciating the way your dress hugs your body. If you turned out to be an axe murderer he was going to be so mad.
“So, uh where’s your apartment?” He asks once the chilly Denver air hits him.
“Patience, Nathaniel,” you say as you start walking, “can I call you that?”
He doesn’t usually like people calling him by his full name, but it sounds so good from you so he doesn’t mind it.
“I only ask because it’s a bit of a mouthful to scream, isn’t it?”
Nate has to take a deep breath to stop himself from pressing you up against the wall right there and then, “Nate, is good too.”
You grab his hand and lead him into your apartment building moments later. Your hand stays loosely attached to his wrist as you greet the security guard and walk into the elevator.
He’s taken by surprise when the doors close and you pull him close to press your lips to his gently. You’ve undone his jacket before he realizes it.
You take a perfectly manicured finger down his thin dress shirt. His breath catches in his throat when you pull him closer by his belt loops.
“This shirt is too tight on you, you know.”
“Are you complaining?”
“Not at all,” you reply as to bring him in for another kiss.
He holds you against the wall, kissing you slowly until the elevator doors open.
When the doors open you’re greeted by a small fluffy black cat that runs into the elevator, purring as it rubs itself against your ankles.
“Hi, baby,” you coo as you pick it up and walk out, “the bedroom is the last door on the left. I need to check on her food, be naked by the time I get there.”
Nate follows your instructions and sure enough, the last door on the left is the master bedroom. He wasn’t exactly sure what he was expected but you have the biggest bed he’d ever seen. He strips out of his shirt and pants, leaving them in a pile on the floor. He lounges on the bed and, honestly, it’s so comfortable he almost falls asleep.
He hears the door open and then you’re stepping into the room and throwing yourself on his lap.
“Fuck you’re hot,” you say as you straddle his waist and lean down to kiss him, “but this is not naked.”
You snap his briefs against his skin lightly.
“Sorry,” he mumbles.
You hum against his skin as you trail kisses his down his neck. He lets out a small moan your teeth scrape against his neck. You slide down his body, kissing as you go. His dick is just trying to chub in his briefs when you settle yourself between his legs. He lifts his hips to help him shimmy out of them.
He’s not expecting it when you jerk him slowly, teasing him. You wrap your lips around the tip, looking at him as you suck hard. His hand comes to grip the back of your head. His hips come up to thrust down your throat but you push his hips down with your hands.
“Nuh-uh,” you say as you pull off his dick, “Be good.”
“What if I’m not?”
“Then I’ll spank you,” you wink at him before you take him back into your throat.
He can’t tell if you’re joking but the thought shouldn’t turn him on as much as it does.
He tries to even out his breathing when you push your head past the sphincter of your throat and his fingers are scratching at the back of your head. Your hands are still holding his hips, nails digging into them. He moans as your mouth gets more and more wet. He wants to buck hips but you keep him from doing so. Spit and pre-cum dribble out the side of your mouth. Your eyes water as you fuck yourself on his cock. He has to pull on your head to get you to stop before he blows his load.
“You could have cum on my face,” and Nate almost cums right then and there.
“As good as that sounds, I really want to fuck you.”
You let out a short laugh as you crawl up his body to kiss him. His hands come up to caress your body when he realizes that you’re still wearing your dress. He wants to rip it off you but it probably costs more than his rent so he asks you to take it off.
The second the straps fall from your shoulder, he’s reaching up to bite at the exposed skin of your shoulder.
“No marks,” you say while pulling on the short hair at the back of his neck.
“It looks like your cat clawed my hips,” he says as he helps pull the dress off your body.
You let out an annoyed huff, “That’s different.”
When the dress is off he flips you over, kissing the valley between your breasts. He reaches around you to unclasp your bra, unhooking it with practised ease.
“Got a lot of experience there, Nathaniel?” you tease.
He just smirks and slips his hand in between your legs, under the waistband of your thong. He finger dips between your folds and he lets out a groan when he feels how wet you are.
“All this just from blowing me?” he groans huskily in your ear, “I wonder what would happen if you sat on my face.”
You whine, “Fuck, next time, I just want you to fuck me.”
He pumps his finger in and out a few times before he lines himself with your entrance and pushes in slowly. You tap on his ass to tell him to move and he wastes no time, fucking you hard and heavy. Each thrust pushes a moan out of you.
“Nate,” you moan as he reaches up and grips the headboard for leverage. He can feel you clenching around him. He reaches down to rub circles into your clit which makes you wrap your legs around his body.
Another moan leaves your body, “Nate, Nate, Nate don’t stop.”
“Cum for me baby,” he groans in your ear. He can’t wrap his hand around your throat like he wants so he’ll settle for gripping your chin to kiss you furiously. He’s conflicted between wanting to hear your moans and wanting to keep kissing you.
Your hands claw at his neck and shoulders as you near your orgasm, dropping your head back to savour the pleasure.
“Come all over me, baby,” he grunts and that’s all you need before you come hard, jerking in his arms as your orgasm hits you. Nate can feel your juices coating his thighs and that’s what makes him lose it, fucking into as he cums. A shiver runs down your spins as you feel him spill himself into you.
It takes him a minute to catch his breath before he slips out of you and lays down beside you. You catch his chin in your hand and turn his head to so you can kiss him. He grips your hip and pulls you in by hiking your thigh over his body. The two of you make out lazily for a while before you untangle yourself from the tangle of limbs.
“Get comfy, I’ll be back in a while.”
He hears the tap running in the bathroom, but he’s asleep before you return.
~~~
He’s awoken by you ripping the covers off him.
“Get up,” you demand.
He’s still half asleep, “What? What’s going on?”
“You need to leave,” you insist as you throw his briefs and slacks at him, “my husband is early. He’s going to be in the lobby and then up the elevator and if you’re not gone in less than  2 minutes, it’s not going to end well.”
Nate scrambles to pull his pants over his thighs and doesn’t bother to do up his belt. He’s reaching for his shirt when you take his hand and lead him through the apartment - er, penthouse, whatever. You’re going so fast Nate nearly trips over the cat.
“Here,” she says opening a door at the end of the hall, “follow this hall and there’s a stairwell. When you go down two floors you can take the elevator down - or keep walking, I don't care.”
You throw the remaining clothes at him.
“Wait-” the door slams shut.
Nate and Dave Ch. 6
I walked down the street with Dave.
The poor guy wanted to go home again, and I was happy to comply with that. This was definitely a weird thing to do.
Mostly because he was leashed, and he was a full wolf.
He looked like a brown and yellow German shepherd, but bigger than normally. I could pass him off as a big dog I was being paid to take for a walk, and wolf Dave seemed really educated and nice to be with.
…Because he was the same guy I was making out with like half an hour ago. I wondered if he retained his mind and his ability to think when in full wolf form. He couldn’t speak, that’s for sure, but he seemed to still have consciousness about his situation and his surroundings.
I assumed he wanted to go home because after a while of walking, he started doing those sad dog noises and licking my hand, so I decided to go back home and check what he needed, of course, after he transformed back into a human with the ability to speak.
“Hi, Mr. Henderson!” I greeted one of my neighbors as the man did the lawn on his front yard.
“Hello, Nathan! And… new dog…?” He asked, but I quickly shook my head.
“Not really, just doing a favor for a friend and taking him out for a walk. He can be quite temperamental if you don’t know how to handle him” I tried to give as an excuse, and luckily, Mr. Henderson seemed to buy it!
Dave helped too, growling at the man without showing off his teeth (That would probably rat us out of him being a wolf instead of a dog) before I pulled a bit from the leash to ‘calm him down’.
“Oh well, be careful. Big dogs can be dangerous, especially when they’re… so big, never seen one like that before” It was normal for him to be surprised, even I would be. I could sit on Dave’s back if I wanted and ask him to take me home, like some kind of mount.
Hmm… I wanted to try that out! But not now, it would be weird.
The leash was attached to his bowser collar, which gave him an even rougher appearance. But in reality, he was a really wholesome puppy boy.
“He seems to be a really expensive class of purebred German shepherd, or that’s what my friend said” I made up that quickly, trying to sound oblivious and shrug the subject off as Dave sneezed and looked around, playing dumb. “But don’t worry, I think he likes me!” I scratched Dave’s head and he gave me a friendly ‘Woof!’
“Huh… Glad to hear that. And he seems to be very cute when he’s not growling menacingly” The older man said, jokingly.
“Yeah, he’s a good boy. Anyway, gotta get going. Bye!” I waved to my neighbor with my free hand and he waved back.
Me and my werewolf kept walking until we arrived to my house. I opened the door and he entered first.
After closing the door, and confirming mom wasn’t here, I let go of the leash and Dave walked back to the center of the living room.
The wolf stood on his back legs, as his body started to morph again. I loved the werewolf form, but this was way more amazing to see.
His whole body started to grow, to match that of a normal human, and then his usual size. A big muscled jock.
His snout went back in as his head became human again, and his fur disappeared, with only very little body hair remaining on him.
He was in all his naked glory, cock full hard (I started to suspect that it had something to do with me near him, I can’t remember ever seeing him soft). We couldn’t play the ‘boy and his dog’ plan if the wolf was dressed like a normal human would be.
“Phew, what do you think, bro? Was I a good boy?” He asked, as soon as his transformation ended and he regained consciousness.
The black leather bowser collar around his neck, with the leash hanging from it. The hang was still in my hand, so I pulled him closer as he smirked at me, mischievously.
“You were great, puppy boy” I whispered to him, before giving him a nice, long kiss. He kissed me back, pulling my body closer to his.
Being honest? The whole dog thing was his idea.
He complained that –and I’ll repeat his own words- ‘I never go into full wolf form because there’s a chance I may get caught and scare someone off, triggering wild animal alarms at the town, bro!’
And that was a good reason. Last thing I wanted was a curfew because Dave decided to run on the middle of the street as a big wolf.
“Anything for you, my love” Dave whispered back after the kiss.
It’s been a week since we’ve met, and I felt somewhat comfortable around him already. I’ve never had romantic feelings for anyone, except the usual platonic love like y’know, Chris Evans. But this guy… It was something new I was willing to experience.
I’m not saying I love him… yet. But as I told him once (When he was zoned out and I think he couldn’t hear me) I do like him!
“Anything?” I asked him, tracing a finger around his abs.
He nodded blissfully, with eyes full of love. “Anything, whatever you tell me, bro!”
“Could you… put on some underwear then?” His expression changed, falling into realization. He looked down and noticed his cock on full display.
He blushed a bit, before resuming his smile. “Yeah, no problem bro” I was actually going to tell him to dress up again, since it was a bit cold outside. But the view of his built body was really enjoyable.
Dave and I walked together to my room, where his clothes were laying on my bed. He quickly put on some boxers, then looked back at me. “Anything else I can do for you, babe?”
‘A lot of things I dare not mention’ I thought. But I just shook my head “Would you like to play some videogames or just… cuddle together and watch some Streamflix?”
“Videogames! I’ll beat your ass this time on COD, bro!” He beamed up, before roughly sitting on my bed. The thing did a loud creak, probably because of Dave’s weight as he sat. If the big guy didn’t control himself, I was going to end up sleeping on the floor.
“Videogames it is” I mumbled, walking over to the PS4 and grabbed the two controllers on top of it. In the meantime, Dave turned on the TV with the remote near my bed and waited for me, clearly excited. I sat next to him and gave him his controller.
Honestly? I suck at gunplay games. I prefer, I don’t know, fantasy styled games? Like, I enjoy hunting a big monster or sword fighting my way around a medieval setting. Gunplay just… didn’t do it for me.
I bought this game because of Dave, I wanted to try something he would enjoy too, and he clearly loved it. I also noticed that he would play dumb and let me win a few times, to ensure I was having fun. But that’s on rare occasions, because he’s fucking competitive when it comes to this, and starts bragging pretty quickly.
Of course, he calms down as soon as he starts with it. Probably because he didn’t want to piss me off? Probably, yeah.
However, I also had some tricks up my sleeve.
I looked over at him. Game face on and fully focused on the screen. He started preparing a private match. A few bots here and there, his favorite map, then chose his designated weapon.
“I’ll go easy on you, bro. Don’t worry” He said, patting my shoulder.
The first match went down fast. I tried to run and kill his bots as he hunted me down. It was just like that, a cat and mouse game between us. I did enjoy it, reminded me of another horror game I usually played at night.
He gave me a few shots when I went around a corner and we bumped into each other. “Hey bro!” Dave said mockingly, as he filled my avatar’s body with lead.
I tapped X as fast as I could to respawn, as Dave continued wandering around the map and killing the bots of my team. This was going to be a hard game.
“Hey Dave?” I asked, as I respawned.
“Yuh?” He mumbled, still focused on the game. I must say, his game face makes him even more handsome.
“Forget about what I’m about to say; but confuse the left stick with the right stick” I said. This was my tactic. I had full control over his mind and body, right? Then, fuck, I wanted to win at least once.
He stopped moving his fingers for a few seconds, but I didn’t have time to check if his eyes were unfocused or not, I had a match to win!
Then, I noticed he tried to play again. “What the…” He mumbled, as I pressed the left stick to run and looked for him. In the meantime, he struggled to move his character.
The confused jock frantically moved the right stick and his character looked around a lot, and gave little steps with the left stick, like he tried to move the camera with it.
I finally found him and didn’t hesitate. R2 and a few seconds later, Dave’s character was lying on the floor like a ragdoll.
“Fuck!” The werewolf said, as I threw a punch to the air. “What the hell is happening to me?” He whispered, looking to his hands. He tried to move his respawned character, but moved the right stick instead. Then he tried to move the camera, but his left thumb moved the wrong stick too.
Dave looked at me “Anythin’ I should know, bro?” He asked, with a suspecting voice.
“Don’t know what you’re talking about” I answered, as I continued to look out for him with a nice smile on my face. The game just got twenty times funnier.
He tried to look out for me in game, to no avail. Until a bulb seemed to light up on his brain and he turned the controller upside down. ‘Fuck, he got me’ I thought.
Dave was back in the game, but I could notice he was uncomfortable playing like that.
I found him running into a wall and killed his character again.
“Aww, bro…” He mumbled, getting frustrated.
“Alright, alright. You can stop getting confused now.” But Dave left his controller on the night table. Did I piss him off? Oh geez, I didn’t want that!
But it was the opposite. He grabbed me and pulled me in with him to lay down on the bed. I loved this, we’ve been spending a lot of time together lately and this was my favorite part.
I think I’ve said this before, but Dave was an amazing kisser. He was gentle, and the taste of his mouth was amazing (Which was kind of surprising since he was a full wolf not so long ago, I expected him to have dog breath) and he was very skilled too.
“I don’t want to play if you’re not having fun” He whispered, before smooching me. “I prefer to see ya happy, my love”
I couldn’t help but smile. “Why, thanks puppy boy” I said, moving my hand through his torso, and into his underwear. “You’ve been a really good puppy boy today, haven’t you?”
I slowly caressed his cock. I was okay with this; we were on the blowjob level of things by now.
I mean, he only gave me one, but it was an advance, right? I still had to give a blowjob to him…
“Yeah, bruh. I’m a good puppy boy!” He sounded proud of himself. Probably because he was obeying me, not gonna complain though.
I wrapped my hand on his cock and started stroking slowly. Dave just stared at me with his deep blue eyes, smiling like an idiot. “You’re so… beautiful, Nate. The most beautiful person I’ve ever seen… fuck, that feels amazing to say”
I blushed, and stopped stroking for a bit. Dave placed his big hand on my cheek and leaned in to kiss me again. My nervousness fading away temporarily with each kiss, I felt safe. Like this was where I belonged.
In bed, with a hunk werewolf infatuated with me, and…
I shook my head “You’re trying to distract me so I forget to send you home, right?” I asked, raising my eyebrow.
He gave me the pleading puppy eyes. “Please bro, I don’t want to go, I just want to be with you and make you feel good and loved” He tried to convince me, and I was falling for it. I would be okay with having him stay the night, but… Dave seemed willing to drop all his other responsibilities in order to spend time with me.
“Dave… You know how it is, we can hang out from time to time if you want. But I’d prefer if you still live your life like you would normally, and that includes sleeping in your house too-“
“Let’s go together, bro. Mom and pops will love having you around, and my bed has enough space for the both of us. Please, babe…” He lightly kissed my lips. “…I love you”
‘Why do you have to be so cute?’ I thought.
“I’ll let you stay, but just a little while more, alright? And then you go back home, no more excuses, understood?”
He seemed defeated, but agreed with me. “Understood, bro. Whatever you want” He mumbled, hugging me. “I’ll enjoy every second we spend together, bruh”
I rolled my eyes, so cheesy.
…And yet, I still liked him so much.
----
As I said, I kept him around for a little longer, then sent him off to his house again.
According to Dave, his parents didn’t have a problem with letting him spend a few nights with me. But I preferred if he didn’t change his… human behavior that much.
I do like being around Dave, maybe not as much as how he likes to be around me, but still. But as I could see, Dave is willing to forget about his responsibilities just to be with me and make me happy, and that’s not something I’d like to do to him.
I have to remind him of returning to his house, studying, working out, hanging out with his friends, etc., because if it was for him, he would rather just hang out with me.
It was okay though; it wasn’t really a problem. Everything was still the same, and even better. Dave started doing his own essays! He’s… he tries, at least. But I appreciate the effort and help him in any way I can.
It’s only been a week since we’ve started hanging out, so not many changes I could do to his persona.
Next day, we had school again. School became a much more bearable place, I just focused on my studies and that was enough for me, with Dave appearing from time to time to spend some time together.
I sat down in my usual place at the science lab, put on my protective plastic glasses and looked over at Sam besides me.
It wasn’t usual for us to sit together, but it was a nice way to catch up from time to time.
“How’s our president?” I asked him when he nodded at me with a calm smile. We liked to joke about that, with him being the student council’s president.
He deserved that role, in my opinion, he worked so hard during his campaign even when he made some deals with the factions. Jocks included, but they were very clear with what they wanted.
And that was more funds for the sports division, with the cheerleaders backing them up. When you get the biggest fishes of the tank, it’s only a matter of time until the rest of the school would vote for Sam too.
“I officially hate prom night. I mean, it was fun last year, when I didn’t have to plan it from scratch!” He said, grabbing the protective glasses from the table and putting them on. He did it too quick and roughly, though. His teeth greeted a few moments as the pain seemed to fade. “I’ve received more than two hundred messages about ‘suggestions’ for it, and that was at 2 am, I had to turn off my phone now”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Can’t you just… say that the theme will be ‘Wintery forest’ or something like that and just hang a lot of paper snowflakes from the ceiling? Prom night is just dancing around a decorated basketball court Sam, not much you can do with that”
But he seemed personally attacked by my comment. He frowned and took a bag of chocolate cookies from his bag, left it on the middle of the table and started eating.
“I mean, yeah but” He pushed the bag near me, like trying to tell me to eat something. I shook my head, I wasn’t hungry. “I’d like to do something different, you know? It’s our last year here, and my last chance to be a good president!”
I nodded, understanding what he meant. “If I have a good idea, I’ll let you know, alright?”
“Do you even plan on going to prom? You haven’t even gone last year as a junior, this may be your last chance, Nate” Ouch, low blow.
I looked behind us, noticing a lot of noise on the back of the lab. Dave was struggling to put on some of the protective gloves, before he noticed me staring and gave me a warm smirk, along with a wink. Half of his protective glove was hanging from his hand, before he tried to correctly put it in place.
I chuckled a bit, and Sam noticed it. “Or…” He gave me little nudges while motioning his head to Dave’s direction. “You and the big guy there?”
“Uh? What are you talking about-” But he lifted his hand to stop me, passed me his phone with the frontal camera on. I was blushing. “Am I that obvious?”
“He just winked at you, and you still have two arms so I like to think you two are up to something together” He finished, before grabbing the bag of cookies again and putting it back on his bag. “Besides, I heard rumors that he broke up with-“
The professor had entered the room and chatting time was over. I could still hear a bit of laughter on the back, but decided to keep my eyes on the front.
Damn, I was going to blow our cover if I kept acting like a little girl. But there was probably no cover at all by this point. It’s impossible for the school to not have noticed one of the hottest guys around breaking up with his girlfriend, just a few days after he started to spend time around me.
“I won’t deny, nor accept anything” I wondered if Dave could hear us, I knew he had heightened smelling abilities, that’s how he found out I was his soulmate, but I wondered if heightened hearing was also a thing.
I’d ask him for a detailed list of his powers later, but I always forget to do that in the heat of the moment. “Now, let’s pay attention before we blow up” I finished, looking at the professor as he started explaining today’s assignment.
Sam whispered near me “We’ll talk about this lateeer♫”, in a mocking melody tone.
“Mr. Howard, take that cap off! This is a laboratory, not the baseball field!” I looked beside me and saw Dick taking off his backwards cap, while mumbling something under his breath. Probably a curse, my friend isn’t fond of people who order him around, less if they are dumb professors, according to him.
The jocks on the back laughed, but we ignored them like the professor did, resuming the lesson and preparing for playing with chemicals.
I felt social today, and remained with Sam for the rest of the day. Which means that I’m not alone during lunch today. He wanted to interrogate me and I honestly didn’t know what to do. I was bad at making up excuses.
We went to get our plates of food and sat in a rather empty table.
“Soooo… Are you going to tell me or not?” Sam asked, still trying to make me spill the beans about Dave, probably.
“What are you talking about?” I played dumb. I wasn’t good at making excuses, but I was pretty good at keeping secrets.
“You know about you and Dave…” But he froze in place before finishing that sentence. An unexpected guest sat beside me, so I was now surrounded by Sam and the big guy.
“I couldn’t help but hear my name, what are you two talkin’ about?” Dave said, in a pretty friendly voice. “Man, I love school’s chicken. This school is so awesome with the lunch menu. What’s up, Sammy? Cat got your tongue?”
I rolled my eyes, Sam hated being called ‘Sammy’, but I assumed they did it on purpose to bother him. Not like he can do anything about it but… I think I can. Not now, though. That would sell me out.
“W-We… We were just talking about…” Sam gulped, looking at me for help. Two weeks spent with Dave, and I almost forgot he has an awful reputation.
We’ve tried to change it, but I can only do so much with him at a time. So, I decided to focus on small things first, like his studies, then the social things afterwards.
“The upcoming… football game, yeah. That’s it, go Rottweilers!” I finished, wanting to sink my face in my plate of smashed potatoes. That was an awful excuse.
“Fuck yeah, go Rottweilers!” Dave yelled while quickly standing up on his seat, placing one of his foots on the table, and some sudden loud barks followed him. I moved my plate, because THIS is why I prefer eating alone at the school yard.
Besides being crowded, the cafeteria always had weird things like this happening from time to time. Maybe someone gets their head smashed in their plate, or a food war starts. The yard is way more chill than this place.
Dave sat down again after that, and I left my plate back in its place. I was going to ask him if that was necessary, but decided to shut my mouth as soon as the rest of the football players sat around us.
I was safe, I knew that but… It was still unsettling. Sam and I knew the football players were shady, as I mentioned once. I knew Dave was strong, he’s a werewolf after all. But could he take them all at once, or would they be able to overpower him if they actually tried to?
I couldn’t tell if Dave noticed I was nervous, I just stared down at my plate and tried to listen to the chatter around me. Sam did the same thing, leaving the jocks speaking about the upcoming game.
“Didn’t know you liked football, bruh” Dave told me, probably trying to make me participate in the conversation. I just nodded, trying to think of a valid answer to him, probably something boring to make the jocks want to leave the table ASAP.
“I-I’m not a fan of it but… our team is so good that I can’t miss any of their games” Smart Nate, just feed their ego to make them happy!
“Really? Never saw you on the bleachers during our games” One of the guys pointed out. I noticed that Lucas and Butch weren’t participating at all in the chat. They just ate and looked at us, almost in complete silence.
“I blend in easily with the crowd, you know, being small and stuff like that” It was weird. Why am I trying to prove anything to these guys? ‘I just want you to leave, take the hint!’ I thought.
Dave finally spoke “I did see him, and yeah, the lil’ dude gets lost amongst the crowd” He patted my back quite harshly, making me cough, but I was glad he backed up my lie.
Sam gave me a puzzled look and I whispered ‘Just relax and try not to piss them off’
This time, Dave did notice it, and looked down at me with a worried look on his face. He might have realized that he fucked up.
Luckily, the rest of the lunch went on normally. The jocks made a few… ‘jokes’ here and there, but I laughed off with them. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like them, but I wouldn’t like Dave to go on a rant beating them all up because he wants to protect me.
Of course, they brought up my ‘faggot-ness’, but I just went on with it, countering it with a not-suggesting joke.
They seemed friendly so far, better not ruin that. But I wondered if they were here willingly, or Dave was the one who summoned them here. Not saying he threatened them but… maybe he called a football team emergency, like Butch did once.
Sam and I couldn’t wait until it was over, so we ate fast and tried to get out of there ASAP, excusing ourselves saying that we had to pick up a few books before the next class. Dave followed me with his sad puppy eyes as we left, before getting up and going after me.
“Bro!” Dave said after leaving the cafeteria, and I stopped on the middle of the corridor. It wasn’t crowded, but there were a few students around on their way to the yard, to make the most of the little free time they had.
Sam raised an eyebrow, but decided to leave us alone. I could tell he had enough of the jocks for the day, and I was worried they may be mad for leaving them having lunch alone, after they ‘rewarded us with their presence’ or something like that. I didn’t like those guys.
I looked at Dave, as he stopped in front of me and smiled. But then, he looked around and noticed a few persons in the corridor. “Uh…” He mumbled.
“C’mon” I grabbed his hand and walked to the nearby boys’ bathroom. “There,” I said after closed the door behind us. “Private moment, what happened back there? At the cafeteria, I mean”
Dave’s eyes darted around the room, as little drops of sweat appeared on his forehead. “I-I… I wanted to try and… y’know, present you with my bros?” He gulped “I know you don’t like them, but… they are my friends, and I thought everything would be much easier if they saw how awesome you are”
I was a bit confused, but not mad. I didn’t end up hurt, nor did Sam, and that was enough for me. If the jocks actually tried to sit down with us and talk, then I was willing to give them a chance.
“I sorta still don’t get why we have to keep our thing in secret, bruh. You don’t have to be afraid of anyone trying to hurt us, because I’m David fucking Walker. I own this place, I’m an alpha!”
He sounded so excited while he said that, and motivated. It was nice to see that side of him; a side I would have never imagined Dave the big bully jock could have.
“I know, you’re really great and everyone… respects you,” I started, carefully thinking my words to avoid hurting his feeling, as he looked down at me, still with a big smile. “But it’s just for some time, as we take this slowly. It would be really weird for the others if you came someday to school and randomly yell ‘I’m gay!’. Give me some time, yeah? We can sort this out together, but let’s do it slowly”
His smile slowly faded from his face. I think I hurt his feelings anyway, and it was probably an inevitable thing to do. I kind of ran out of the cafeteria with Sam as soon as we finished eating, ruining his plan of having his bros get to know me.
“I understand if you’re mad with me, bro. But I think they actually liked you! You were so smart back there, mentioning football as an excuse…” He came closer to me, and kissed me lightly on the lips, placing his big hands on my cheeks, and looked at me with really sad eyes. “But I get if you’re mad and don’t want to see me for a while, I deserve it from putting you in danger with my bros”
“Just… stop, alright?” And he did. He closed his mouth and just looked at me, waiting for me to speak. “You didn’t do anything wrong, it was a nice idea. Just try to tell me about it before doing something like that again, and I may gather some nerve to tackle it properly, alright Davey?”
He nodded slowly, giving a sigh of relief. “Y-Yeah, I will, bro. Thanks for not being mad, I would hate myself if I made you mad” I was a bit scared of someone walking in the bathroom, but at the same time I think… I didn’t care at all.
It was going to be a slow thing, yeah. But, sooner or later, it was going to be discovered. So…
Dave was looking down to his shoes, like some misbehaved kid, when I stepped forward and pulled him in for a kiss.
I was hoping for someone to enter the bathroom. Some random guy, who would apologize and leave in fear after watching the big jock angry for interrupting our kiss.
But that never happened. Damn it.
Dave recovered his sweet smile as I looked up at him. “What was that for?”
“To reassure you that you didn’t do anything wrong” I whispered to him. “We probably shouldn’t play with our luck though, but we have a few more minutes before our next class”
The werewolf jock gave me one last smooch, before saying “I love you so much, bro…”
I couldn’t help but blush, I really liked my good puppy boy.
We left the bathroom together, and headed out for the yard. As I said, we still had a few minutes before classes started, and I wanted to make the most of them with my big guy.
