“Of course I didn’t want you!”
Anakin recoiled like he had been slapped.
The anger he had felt only moments before towards the man in front of him dissipated and reformed into the keenest hurt he had ever experienced.
He had known this, of course—had known it forever, and he had prepared himself for the day the truth finally came out, building walls around his heart and forcing distance between himself and Obi-Wan for this very inevitability—but actually hearing it, actually hearing Obi-Wan say those words aloud?
Nothing could have prepared Anakin for this moment.
I didn’t want you.
Obi-Wan was still talking, ranting, but his words seemed far away, distant, like he was standing at the end of a tunnel, miles away from Anakin, who felt lightheaded, unsteady on his feet.
“—ster had just died, the Sith were back, and here was this boy,” Obi-Wan’s voice, tight and forceful, floated in and out of the air, “This boy for whom my master discarded me without a second thought, this boy, who was now my responsibility to raise and train.”
Anakin couldn’t look at him. Didn’t want to see the resentment in the set of his mouth, the long-buried hatred in the furrow of his brow.
“My responsibility—me, a barely knighted Jedi, practically a padawan myself.”
Obi-Wan let out a bark of disbelieving laughter, a sharp edge to it that sliced Anakin to his core.
“I could barely take care of myself in the days after Qui-Gon died, let alone another human being. And now I had the duty to fulfill my master’s dying wish to train this boy on the off-chance that he would save the galaxy.”
Do not cry.
Anakin willed himself to keep looking down, to stay impassive, to not raise Obi-Wan’s ire higher than it already was. If he betrayed how much these words cut him, how deep a wound they inflicted on his heart, then the magnitude of his attachment would be revealed, and that would only make Obi-Wan hate him more.
And Anakin didn’t think he could take any more of Obi-Wan’s hate.
Do not cry.
He heard Obi-Wan take a steadying breath, audibly reigning himself in. When he spoke next, his voice was softer, yet reverberated through Anakin's mind as if he had screamed them.
“So, no. I did not want you.”
He sensed Obi-Wan, his accursed, beloved former master, take a step towards him. Anakin stilled, a horrible thought overtaking him.
Would he strike him? Obi-Wan had never—would never—but he had also never said anything like this out loud to Anakin before. He had finally crossed the line.
Done the un-take-back-able.
Anakin had always walked a thin line with Obi-Wan, pushing and prodding, bringing out Obi-Wan’s frustration, his rolled eyes, dry jabs, and sometimes disappointed frown, but he had somehow avoided tipping the scales all the way over—at least, not until now.
Now, when he had finally pushed too far.
Fuck.
Do not cry. Do not cry—
A hand fell on his shoulder. It took everything in Anakin not to flinch.
“But don’t you ever think,” Obi-Wan said, the fierce passion back in his voice and Anakin’s stomach sank, sank sank. “Not even for one second, that you were not the best thing to ever happen to me.”
Anakin’s head snapped up in shock. The very thing he had wanted to avoid doing at all costs, but surely he had misheard, surely Obi-Wan had not just said what he just said—
“You are the best friend I have ever had,” Obi-Wan said, and there was still that hard edge to his words, but now that Anakin was looking at him, he saw that his master's eyes were not filled with anger-hate-bitterness like he had feared, but simple determination.
A serious expression, but one that was interlaced with a gentleness that Anakin could only describe as fond.
“It has been… the honor and delight of my life to teach you,” Obi-Wan said, and Anakin couldn’t move because the truth of it was ringing in the Force, unmistakable and passionate and firm. “And now to fight and live beside you as equals.”
Was Anakin dreaming?
A flicker of a smile crossed Obi-Wan’s face, like he was lost in remembrance and, oh, Anakin’s heart couldn’t take it, couldn’t handle this emotional whiplash, his greatest fear and most secret hope come to life over the course of a single conversation.
“It only took you about a day and a half to win me over. I was petrified every day that I would mess you up, leave you worse than I found you, let you down, Qui-Gon down, the galaxy down—but not once did I regret you. Not once would I have traded you away from anything.”
Obi-Wan squeezed Anakin’s shoulder and Anakin shuddered, letting out a choked whimper that he immediately wished he could take back, but Obi-Wan’s eyes softened, and through their bond Anakin could only feel kindness, affection, maybe even—
Obi-Wan's expression shifted once more, for the first time his steadiness in the force wavering, and he swallowed, appearing nervous, if Anakin didn't know any better.
"I do not always find it easy to express myself with words, like this. It is... difficult for me. But it appears that it is necessary today."
Anakin stared at him helplessly.
“I am unbearably sorry that I have ever made you believe otherwise. That you could ever think that you are not my favorite person in the world.”
Anakin could not stop the tear from falling down his cheek. And Obi-Wan Kenobi, high general of the Republic Army, one of the strongest, most respected masters in the Jedi Order, and Anakin's former teacher, gently caught it with the pad of his thumb and wiped it away.
"You are," Obi-Wan's voice came out rough and tinged with something that made Anakin's breath catch in his throat. But then just as quickly, Obi-Wan gave him a small smile, his voice clear once more, even dry and teasing.
“I hope that's alright with you.”
Anakin's answering smile was watery, but it could have lit up the entire galaxy anyhow.

Clone commandos request if possible. 😁 Could you do delta squad. where on a mission they get captured along with the Padawan, and get protective when they try to separate them or interrogate them.
So i thought about writing a fic based on todays bad batch episode (but I need to get some of the requests done- if you wanna request some Wolffe *wink wink* that’s ok)
“Got your back”
Summary: a mission goes south with the delta squad but they have your back
Paring: The delta Squad/ republic commandos x padawan!reader (PLATONIC OFC)
Warning: slight mentions of injury and imprisonment nothing too bad… the most scary- not proofread
Word count: 1688
Notes: Delta Squad fics are not my “most popular” but ones I always do so much for and I don’t know why
Also I swear to god someone asked to join the Taglist but I can’t remember nor find it so let me know!

"Can you focus for one second Scorch? EVER?" Fixed screamed through the comms, you could see his tense movements from a mile away as the squad ducked once again behind a wall.
Boss could only nod this head, he quickly spun around from where you, Sev and him were hiding to shoot an incoming droid.
"Sorry Scorch I can't defend you this time it's not looking good." You spoke between gasp of your own breath, the adrenaline from the long hours fighting wearing on you and the whole group.
Sev leaned heavily on Fixer from where you could see him, though Scorch as of now was doing a good job covering them.
"Boss," You yelled over the hiss of a smoke bomb going off- the contents of which were going in your eyes and making you cough. "I'm all out of ideas here."
The comando spared you a glance for a second, you feared what his face would have looked like if his helmet was discarded.
Boss looked down at the padawan for a moment. A thin cut ran along their cheek way too close to their eye for Boss’s comfort. He watched their head whip around looking through the fog desperately before a huge bang went off.
After a moment of slight ringing Boss felt the bump of another person against his side. The padawan looked around frantically for the force of the bomb before looking up to the comando.
In a more solemn voice they asked. “Boss what are we gonna do?”
Boss thought about their options then. Backed into the corner of what should have been an abandoned outpost, on of their men injured and the rest ready to collapse from exhaustion. He as a leader thought he was better than this but Boss felt as if he walked his squad right into this trap.
“The missions easy enough for us.” Boss had said only hours before. A knot sat in his stomach but the team needed an easy mission, a break from their last fiasco with the bugs.
He’s never been more wrong in his life.
While he was lost in thought, Boss nearly missed Scorch sliding up next to their leader, his panicked voice tried to fill Boss’s ears.
For a moment the other comando didn’t realize the trooper in yellow was talking until Scorch made a shhh gesture with his hand.
That’s when you noticed it too, the complete lack of noise. No more clanker chatter or blaster bullets from each side. Just the low hiss of the fog that didn’t seem to die down.
You opened your mouth to say something before the unmistakable scraping of metals filled your ears.
“Rollies! get down!” Scorch shouted pulling you and Boss to the floor with him. About 5 Droidekas emerged from the smoke…. Lucky you guys.
“Scorch handle them.” Boss yelled using his hands to signal something at Fixer and Sev at the speed of light. His gruff tone scratched your ears but you all seemed pretty fed up at the situation.
Blaster bullets were blocked by your lightsaber left and right until the next words made your heart drop all together. “Out of hand grenades sir.” Scorch ripped his blaster out now but the shields were too strong on the droids.
“Down the hall!” Fixer yelled as both He and Sev passed the 3 of you, a way out hopefully planned.
You felt them before you saw them, you tried skidding to a stop before turning into the next hall as a hand shot out to grab Boss.
“Shit.” Was the only thing you could say, before they could question what you meant a group of comando droids emerged with guns drawn.
“You’ve got to be joking me.” Sev rasped out, his arm shook while he tried to lift his blaster up and fire. The tiredness leaked off of him though you were sure it did for everyone.
A ring of blue light hit the wall behind you. It didn’t make sense though, comando droids weren’t the type to show mercy.
Your lightsaber flashed along the darkened walls trying to keep the nimble droids away, why couldn’t the separatists just send the normal clankers.
Once again the hall was engulfed in a think smoke. You heard more blasters going off but you feared you were getting more and more disoriented. After a moment you heard a sickening thunk next to you and you assumed the worst.
In the blink of an eye you felt the blast hit its mark and half your body go limp. Unlike the bulking clones you were with it only took about 2 hits before you were out.
•✩•
Boss was the first one to awaken. His head bobbed around and his eyes fluttered open. Boss reached his hand up only to finally realize that his armor was gone.
He laid there for a moment, confusion laced his face. What had happened to him? To them….
In a split second Boss shot up to a sitting position , which his head greatly protested, and looked for the rest of his squad.
Relief was one of the best things in the galaxy in this moment. In the dim light of the ray shield keeping them in Boss could count the 3 other comandos and the form of their padawan knocked out next to Scorch.
Sev still looked bad as now Boss could get the full view of his gash along his side- the blacks on all of the men seemed to be tattered.
Boss observed their surroundings for a moment before giving a light tap to Fixer on the foot. When that didn’t work the first time a much hard kick was implemented.
Fixer gasped awake along with Scorch after a “friendly” tap from the clone comando.
I didn’t take Scorch long before he leaned back against the wall and groaned, clearly he knew the situation at hand.
Boss could only stare for another second at Sev, guilt rummaged through his insides as he helped his injured brother up ultimately waking him as well. This was his fault and Boss couldn’t shake that.
“Fixer start working on those bindings.” Boss ordered unable to keep his gaze on the unconscious padawan. Clearly to the eyes of their captors the Jedi was the bigger threat.
Sev hissed for a moment now finding a new brother to lean on.
You came to with the feeling of someone’s exposed hands brushing against your arms. The pounding in your head was present but the blanket of confusion was much scarier.
“Thanks for joinin’ us.” The unmistakable voice of scorch chimed in. Your eyes strained against the darkness but you could tell what the problem was.
The cool metal hurt your wrists as Fixer fiddled with them muttering a small apology every once in a while.
Boss’ low voice filled the cell, plans of just how they would get out to fight another day. Your eyes scanned the worrisome group.
Scorch sat fidgeting with his hands trying desperately to listen but you could see the worry in his eyes as clear as day.
Fixer sat in front of you cursing and apologizing but he just couldn’t seem to do anything useful without his tools and data pad.
Sev’s eyes closed everyone once in a while and you could see the fight to remain in the moment, though his scowl never seemed to be wiped off.
And finally Boss. His voice was level and low just like the countless other times you heard him give directions, however this time was different. He knew this wasn’t in their favor and he was worried beyond belief.
Someone had to stay strong for them all.
Your heartbeat beat out of your chest, a dull throb started in your temples the feeling seemed vaguely familiar.
“I think someone’s coming.” For the first time you were unsure in the force. Fixer faltered for a moment before meeting your eyes. “It’s probably these. Messing with you.” He shook the bindings.
Though to your surprise, and relief in a way, someone did make their way down the hall. Boss spoke out quickly as you averted your gaze, sweat started to form on your brow.
“We need a medic.” It was hard to call it pleading despite where Boss said it from his position on the floor, but it was definitely more of a demand.
2 masked figures approached though they seemed to ignore Boss all together.
“We need the Jedi.” The cool voice stated only once.
Everyone seemed to freeze for a moment unsure about which group would make the first move.
“Get up.” Was demanded at you and you glanced around meeting Boss’ eyes for only a moment before you gripped onto the sleeve of Fixer.
The ray shield was down now and the larger figure stepped in. “I’m not asking again”
“Like kriff they’re going with you.” Scorch stood in front of you now. His full height filled up their line of sight.
“Move clone.” For a second Scorch was pushed back that was until Boss stood as well and shoved their captor away from his brother.
Before the other could react with their blaster Scorch was all over them. Fixer taking the hint that their time was now scrambled to get their other brother still on the floor.
Your eyes were blown wide with the loud alarm that was set off. You felt someone grab your arm as you were still in a little daze.
“I hope you didn’t think we were really gonna let them take ya.” Scorch said as the group rushed down the halls.
You thought about that for a moment, had there truly been something to worry about while you were surrounded but the Delta Squad, your brothers?
A smile broke out of your face and Scorch seemed to get your reply.
“I hope you know.” Scorch called over his shoulder. “You’re never picking the missions by yourself again Boss.”
An angry yell was heard from somewhere behind you replacing the fear in your body with a laugh. “You were the one to pick the bug mission Scorch!”

Time-travel/fix it AUs with Cal Kestis as the main protag will always be funny to me, especially when authors pair him up with the Disaster Lineage (usually as Obi-Wan's new padawan since Ahsoka ended up apprenticing under Anakin).
Mostly because:
1) I will always fuck with AUs where Obi-Wan gets a new padawan, regardless of whoever said padawan is.
2) The sheer comedic and potential angst/anxiety of everyone trying to navigate having an actual tiny, baby Jedi on the battlefield with them.
3) Cal just mentally trying to process the whole time-travel thing on top of being a padawan to HIGH GENERAL, JEDI MASTER, COUNCIL MEMBER OBI-WAN FUCKING KENOBI!!!!!!!
4) The opportunity for Anakin to struggle with possible feelings of jealousy over Obi-Wan having a new padawan and maybe slowly coming to accept Cal as a Jedi sibling (with helpful, or not so helpful input from Ahsoka-lol).
5) Obi-Wan having to wrangle yet another droid loving padawan with very obvious mental and trust issues and OH GOD HE'S JUST AS TINY AS ANAKIN WAS AND HOW COULD THE COUNCIL HAVE EVER APPROVED THIS-
But, most of all, what I love about this particular AU is the additional, optional layer of Cal somehow knowing (usually through psychometry) that Anakin is Darth Vader and just having to struggle to interact with his new Master's former padawan without letting anyone else know, that he knows--
--which then leads to baby Cal Kestis meeting Anakin the Skywalker for the first time and just sort of blurting out something to the equivlaent of "... don't fucking talk to me" and then screaming internally when everyone inevitably reacts to Obi-Wan's new padawan clearly hating/not taking a liking to Anakin at all.
Obviously, Ahsoka would think this is hilarious, Anakin would take it super personally and Obi-Wan would just feel exasperated/delighted/resigned at the fact that he has yet another rude padawan to take care of.
*fics recs under the cut*
For anyone who might be interested in reading fics with this particular AU, I can't help but recommend these two in particular:
a distant fire is burning by e_va (AO3)/@e-vasong (blog)
(I Promise) This Time Will Be Different by Nation_Ustria
Make sure to give these authors lots of love. They've done an excellent job with their writing :3
Update: Since this post has started to sorta blow up (at least way more than I expected WOW), I just wanted to take the opportunity to shout out another fave Time-travel/Fix-It fic that I also adore called:
Lost Property Box by Young_and_spitefilled/@constantlymisspelled
It's not a Cal joins the Disaster Lineage fic, but instead sees an older Cal Kestis return to a timeline way before the events of Phantom Menace. And what do you know, he gets to interact with baby Obi-Wan and other child versions of the Jedi he looked up to as a baby Jedi himself. It's pretty great. Definitely check it out :3

Rescue Me, Part 2 ~ Obi-Wan Kenobi
Dedicated to @sassysaxxy for quoting my own writing at me, showering me with compliments, and sending me your screams and other genuine reactions to my snippets. Your enthusiasm as a reader ignites my enthusiasm as a writer. I hope you enjoy this! 💗
Summary: Y/N is succeeding as Obi-Wan Kenobi's padawan, but who knew succeeding brought other kinds of difficulties with it?
Word count: 7.7k
Warnings: war
Rescue Me masterlist
Tumblr media
I swiped at my forehead, wiping the moisture that had collected there away with my sleeve. Obi-Wan warned me about the thickness of Felucia’s climate, but I hadn’t realized this was how it felt to breathe in equal amounts of water vapor and actual air. I felt as though a mesh swatch had been implanted in the back of my throat, making me work twice as hard to gain half as much oxygen.
All the Coruscant patricians spending hundreds of credits on expensive moisturizing hair and skin treatments just needed to visit here.
Obi-Wan’s voice flowed through the comm in my ear. “We need more fire towards the east!”
“Units C3 and 4, fire three clicks east!” I shouted over my shoulder. The brief telltale clatter of the artillery units calibrating behind me was nearly deafening.
“Yes, sir!” two clones chorused. I twisted my neck slightly at the sound of it. All Jedi were called ‘sir’, but that didn’t mean I would ever get used to it.
“How’s the view from up there?” Obi-Wan asked.
“It’s stunning. Too bad you can’t see it.” His huff made me grin as I raised my binocs to my eyes, looking out at the southernmost front in some hope of catching sight of him. But the only thing I could see were the white flashes of clone armor and the streaking red and blue blaster bolts. “How’s the view from down there?”
“Clanky.”
Droids.
“How many of them?”
I heard the telltale sound of Obi-Wan’s lightsaber slicing through metal. “One less now,” he grunted.
I sighed. “Only a few hundred thousand to go.”
The war continued to gnash its way through the galaxy, and few planets were as devastated as Felucia. Sparsely inhabited, the value of the planet came from nysillin. The Separatists and the Republic had been battling for months over control of the precious healing herb. My master and I had only been here for a few days to resolve the current standoff, but I was ready to leave the moment we were allowed to.
Directly in front of the mountain I stood on was Master Plo Koon’s battalion, arguably the most important part. If the middle of the field was lost, the battle was lost. To the south was Obi-Wan’s battalion, steadily gaining ground, in no small part because of my master.
The northern regiment, the smallest group of the three, was currently at a standstill. Commander Cody reported no action and no sightings of the Separatist forces, and so, that battalion was currently out of combat.
My position with the artillery gave me the perfect vantage point, not only of all three fronts, but of the village at my back, one of the only villages the Separatists hadn’t managed to pillage. It would stay that way, if the Republic had anything to say about it.
My master’s voice crackled in my ear. “There’s more trying to cut through the mountains.”
“Unit B, two clicks to the south!” I relayed to the closest artillery gunman.
“Yes, sir!” He immediately started punching in calculations for trajectory, and I preemptively clapped my hands over my ears to try and hear Obi-Wan’s next words.
“When the droids fire up their backup generators-” My master’s voice garbled, becoming unintelligible amidst the horrid clatter from behind me.
“Repeat orders!” I requested, pushing my comm-link further into my ear in the hopes of hearing better. But instead of getting clearer, the words got softer and more garbled before completely cutting out.
“Obi-Wan?” No response. “Obi-Wan, can you hear me?!” No response.
I waved over at the comms technician. “I’ve lost Master Kenobi. Can you restore the connection?”
“Right away, sir.” The clone’s helmet tilted down as he started tapping on his screen. Then, his fingers stopped. “Uh…sir?”
My brow furrowed. “What’s the problem? Is the machine malfunctioning?”
The helmet shook from side to side. “No, sir, it’s not the machine, it’s something external.”
“What about Master Koon? Can we reach him?”
“No, sir, I can’t locate any signals on any frequency, much less hone in on what they’re saying.”
“No other signals?” I said under my breath. Surveying the ground below me, I searched for any suspicious movement, anything that could resemble a jammer. But the battlefield resembled how it looked before with conflict on the central and southern fronts. Desperate, I panned to the north. My eyes caught sight of the glimmering of the shiny, gray armor of battle droids.
“Oh no.” I quickly adjusted the settings and let out a gasp.
Four clicks ahead of Commander Cody’s battalion, the Separatist AATs were charging. And because of the foliage, Commander Cody wouldn’t be able to see the tanks until they were already within range.
“Scrag!” I ripped the binocs from my eyes, breathing heavily as I stared out at the valley.
“What’s going on?” one of the clones asked.
I didn’t reply, still staring. What was I supposed to do? Communications were down. If Commander Cody’s unit was overcome, the Separatists could easily incapacitate the artillery before storming the village.
It’d be a massacre.
And they didn’t even appear to have a jammer with them.
The group marching on the front were still a few minutes away from firing distance, which meant I had a chance to act. How should I seize it? How could I seize it? I was here, with the artillery, removed from the battlefield.
“Obi-Wan,” I said weakly into my comm, knowing he wouldn’t hear me. “What do I do?” I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to calm down.
In the darkness, Obi-Wan’s wisdom came back to me.
From the Force were we formed and to the Force will we return, he once told me. Sitting cross-legged, his tone perfumed with his seemingly infinite patience, even as I struggled to master the elusive practice of meditation. The Force is your ally. Let it use you, and it will let you use it.
Sentiments that appeared contradictory, but instead formed a perfectly balanced harmony, like the Force itself.
The beginning and ending of all things.
I took in a deep breath, inhaling the humid air before breathing out, letting the cacophony of worries and what-ifs go.
I am here, I thought.
And the Force answered.
“Commander Y/L/N?”
My eyes flew open to reveal a nervous looking clone.
“What is going on?”
“Communications are down, and there’s a massive force about to reach the 3rd regiment.”
“What are your orders, sir?”
“Fire two kilometers in front of the 3rd regiment’s line and keep firing!” I gave a strained smile. “You’ve just gotten a promotion, trooper.”
There was no path leading up or down the mountain. The artillery was only set up here after being transported by a slow carrier, and I wouldn’t be able to land that thing down on the field. A target that big would be shot down by the Separatists immediately.
So I stepped right to the edge of the mountain, looking down below.
I reached out with the Force, took a few shallow, bracing breaths, and jumped.
One of the clones let out a cheer, but the sound whipped away as I free-fell, gaining speed. The wind whipped past me in a roar, and my eyes watered so badly, I had to shut them.
Blindly, I reached out for the Force and felt its aura surrounding me, imparting soft comfort instead of hard, cold fear. The wind around me slowed. I suddenly felt as though I were floating instead of tumbling. I opened my eyes, and I could see the whole valley.
A searing warning came, and I immediately tucked in my head, bent my arms and legs, and waited for impact.
My feet touched the ground, and I immediately rolled forward.
I stayed there for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest as I fought against the water vapor to catch my breath.
Then, I took off running, ripping through the Felucian vegetation as I sprinted towards the northern front.
No other planet I’d been to had plants which compared to the size of the ones on this one. The cyan pitcher plants, shaped like the bulb of a flower, stretched far above my head while long, wispy red growths bent and curled every which way. The dangling parts of the yellow plants made them seem like they dripped with sticky yellow syrup. The dull light from Felucia’s yellow sun was colored by the translucent nature of the plants, shining all manner of different hues around me. All the plants grew so fast, it was all the Republic forces could do to keep clear paths between battalions. If I hadn’t been on the mountain looking down at the battlefield a moment ago, I might’ve taken a wrong turn. As it was, I knew precisely which paths to take.
My heart raced when the white tents and equipment came into sight. I tore through the camp. “Where’s Commander Cody?” I asked the first clone I found. He wordlessly pointed, and I rushed in the provided direction.
A helmetless Commander Cody stood above a projected map of the area, the very view I’d just seen from my position. The commander looked up, clearly surprised to see me. “Commander Y/L/N? What are you doing here?”
I skid to a stop. “I saw the Separatists moving on this position, they’ll be here any minute.” My own voice sounded so even, a marvel considering how out of breath I should’ve been.
Commander Cody cursed. “That’s why the long range comms aren’t working.”
I nodded.
“We have to hold this line while Master Koon and Master Kenobi are informed and push their lines forward.” Cody turned to one of the clones standing beside him. “Take my speeder to inform Masters Koon and Kenobi of the situation!” The clone nodded and ran the direction I’d come.
“How long until the troops can be deployed?”
Commander Cody’s face went grim. “There’s only a platoon assigned to the front. The rest are sleeping or eating. The clankers will be here before I can get them ready.”
I started running towards the front. “I’ll buy you that time!” I called over my shoulder.
Subtly reaching out with the Force, I let the life forces of the clones ahead of me guide my path, and it was a good thing I did.
The only reason I recognized the edge of the battlefield when I reached it was the gradual dwindle in the number of large pitcher plants, allowing for a slightly more unobstructed view ahead. Heart pounding, I dodged the ferns and giant mushrooms, waiting for the thick air to suddenly fill with blaster shots.
SCREECH!
That was my only warning before a shell screamed over my head. My heart dropped, because I knew I hadn’t reached the squad in time.
“AATs ahead!” the voice of a clone yelled, and all hell broke loose.
The air filled with blaster shots, and I was surrounded by the high pitched whines following their discharge and the heat that followed them. I deflected as many shots as I was able, trying to reach the platoon. I spotted the camouflage helmet of a clone scout trooper and bounded towards it.
“Where’s this fire coming from?!” one of the clones behind me cried from his defensive position. “We didn’t hear a warning!”
I managed to reach whom I assumed was the squad leader: an ARC trooper I recognized: Driver. “Commander Cody is rallying the troops now!” I shouted over the noises of combat.
Driver gave a curt nod before crouching out from behind the pitcher plant to fire a few shots at the Separatists and then rolling back to safety.
I glanced around at the other clones I could sense, all valiantly returning fire. Nine clones and a Jedi had no hope of winning against the infantry corp that was bearing down on us, but we just needed to buy time.
Another shell barreled towards us, and I threw my hand out, diverting it into the trees. Sending a glare at the AAT that came so close to destroying the platoon, I deflected every blast I could. “Hold your ground!”
But it couldn’t last forever.
“Dank’s been hit!” one of the other squad members yelled.
Distracted, I looked behind me to see the white-clad body of a clone on the ground, not moving. Turning away to parry another shell, I reached behind me with the Force to feel Dank’s life.
I felt nothing.
And in that nothing, suddenly, everything slowed down.
A shell came hurtling towards me, slowly rotating in the air as it came closer and closer. With a yell, I threw out my hand, sending the shell back in the direction it’d come from.
The explosion of an AAT made the corner of my mouth twitch up. Take that, I thought with satisfaction.
“Engage!”
I dared a glance over my shoulder to see scores of clones running out of the foliage, taking cover behind the pitcher plants and returning fire.
Commander Cody joined me behind the pitcher plant I was using for cover. “Took you long enough!” I called over to him. He waved his hand in the air, dismissing my teasing. “Have either of the masters sent back word?” The commander shook his head, and my heart sank. To win this battle, it was imperative that the other two battalions pushed forward. Cody could hold the line, but he wouldn’t be capable of pushing the Separatists back.
I ducked behind another pitcher plant, gripping my lightsaber in front of me as I panted for breath. “Obi-Wan,” I said quietly. “Where are you? Why aren’t you here?” I shut my eyes, tuning out the commotion around me.
I am here.
The Force rose up, the crackles of energy surrounding me.
Obi-Wan. I need Obi-Wan.
The answer was a grab of my consciousness. The Force dragging it at top speed, not bothering to weave through the trees and fighters. It was an odd sensation, to fly through solid things and feel only the energy that knit them together.
Then, I felt the light.
“Obi-Wan,” I breathed, my own voice sounding far away. “You need to attack.” The light didn’t react, and I knew he hadn’t felt me. Reaching out with my conscience, I prodded the light sharply. “Attack.”
Suddenly, I got ripped away, flying back to the confines of my own body. I opened my eyes, once again hearing the blasters firing.
Had he heard me?
I wasn't sure.
I peeked over the edge of the plant. The hundreds of droids were nearer, and with it, the crowd of AATs. I was about to turn away when an AAT in the middle caught my attention.  Standing with its top half outside the hatch of an AAT, was a droid, tapping onto a large, welded addition to the AAT.
It could’ve been anything, but I knew better.
Eighty meters away, there it was.
If I were still with the artillery, I could order them to fire on that AAT, but I was in the battle, and my options were limited.
I scanned the field. The fighting was thick, but the foliage was thicker. With Cody holding up the rear, I might be able to sneak past the droids, get to the jammer, incapacitate it, and turn the tide of the battle.
I’d need back-up.
My eyes fell on Driver, and the plan started to form. “Driver!” I called. The ARC trooper turned, and I waved him over. “On me!” Without hesitation, I started on a zig-zag path, darting from cover to cover, never staying still enough to be a target. Driver and two other clones followed me.
It was harrowing, leaping from side-to-side, hoping that no droid would notice us before we got around. Finally, we got to the edge of the battlefield.
“What’s going on, sir?” Driver asked.
I peeked over the tree we hid behind. “We’re going to take out the AAT that's jamming our comms,” I told them breathlessly.
Driver and the other two clones exchanged looks, but none of them raised an objection. They nodded at me, and together, we snuck through the foliage, trying to keep the battlefield within sight, but remain unseen.
Finally, we reached as far as we needed. Maybe fifteen meters into the battlefield, and we’d reach the AAT.
I singled out the AAT with the welded addition. “That’s the one!” I shouted above the clamor on the battlefield.
“Click,” Driver yelled, “you’re up! We’ll cover you!”
One of the clones nodded, his hand drifting to his belt where a number of dangerous looking items lay. He took off in a zig-zag jog, ducking around droids and staying low to the ground.
I watched him, my anticipation rising.
Click reached out to lay a hand on the AAT when suddenly his body contorted. I caught sight of a blaster mark in the center of his chestplate before he crumpled to the ground, unmoving.
Horror rose up in me, and with it, the distress of the two clones standing with me.
I shook my head. Time to do my job. My eyes shifted to the thermal detonator on Driver’s belt.
“I need your detonator!” I hissed at Driver.
Driver’s helmet shifted slightly, and I could feel the sense of duty that tugged at him. “Sir, I should be the one to–”
“Driver, now!”
Grabbing the detonator from his belt, he tossed it at me, and I caught it. Before I could talk myself out of it, I sprinted into the battlefield, the air around me filling with red and blue blaster bolts alike. I didn’t check my surroundings to see if the droids or other AATs had noticed me, trusting the Force to warn me of an impending threat.
I felt the blaster bolt before I saw it and ducked, the bolt whizzing over my head. I didn’t bother to look in the direction it’d come from, solely focused on my target.
Finally, I reached the AAT and jumped onto it, throwing open the hatch door. Hitting the activation button, I dropped the detonator into the interior and slammed the hatch closed.
I slid off the AAT as fast as I could. Dropping beside Click’s body, I hooked my arms underneath his armpits and yanked.
Another clone appeared beside me. “Sir, we need to lea–”
The detonator blew.
The vigor of the blast threw me backwards. I landed hard on my back, my head snapping back.
“–and do it now!”
I nearly cried with relief upon hearing my master’s voice through my comm.
“They’re retreating!” said Commander Cody’s voice in my ear. “Push forward!”
I lifted my head up in time to see droids retreating…right in our direction.
The clone beside me let out a groan, and I caught sight of the bashed side of his helmet. I was on my feet in an instant, slinging his arm over my shoulder and practically dragging him with me.
Driver ran from the tree, coming to the clone’s other side.
Together, the three of us reached cover, just in time to hear the shouts of victory and aggression as the clone forces ran forward, chasing the Separatists away.
Driver and I leaned the clone against the tree. I could sense his pain, which only increased my guilt. This clone had just been trying to get me to safety and ended up injured because of it. I was not going to let him die like the others. I crouched in front of him, reaching out to inspect his helmet. “What’s your name?” I asked softly. The clone didn’t respond; his arms were out to the sides, as if he were trying to balance himself. Resting a firm hand on his shoulder, I asked again. “Soldier, what’s your name?”
“CT-7563.” Even through the modulator of his helmet, I could hear that he tripped over the numbers.
My eyes flicked to Driver, who now kneeled beside me. “What’s his other name?”
“We call him Exit,” Driver answered.
I grabbed both sides of the helmet, preparing to ease it off. “Okay, Exit, I’m going to take off your helmet so I can see your wound better.”
I could feel Exit’s hesitation, but when he raised no objection, I gently tugged on the helmet, pulling it off his head.
The right side of Exit’s head was already swelling, and there was a nasty gash oozing blood into his buzzed hair. Exit blinked rapidly, and I wished I had a flashlight to check his pupillary response. But I didn’t have a flashlight; I didn’t even have a bandage to stop the bleeding.
I glanced around to see what was available to me, and my eyes fell on a red spotted plant—the very plant responsible for this skirmish. “Here,” I said. I delicately plucked a leaf. “Chew this, it’ll help.”
Disoriented as he was, I didn’t expect Exit to hold up his hand. “I s-shouldnnn’t.”
I threw him a stern look. “There’s more than enough to go around. Chew it.” Exit obediently put the plant in his mouth, and Driver knelt down to help him up. “Help him back to the FOB, will you?”
“Yes, Commander Y/N.”
Another clone joined them, and together, they brought their injured brother onto the battlefield, towards the camp.
I stopped, crouching onto the ground to take a moment. As my adrenaline receded, the muscles of my neck started to ache from the detonator’s kickback. I could only hope for no more explosions in the near future.
Click’s body still lay where I’d abandoned it, and the sight made my chest feel tight.
“May the Force be with you,” I murmured under my breath as two clones walked up to their brother, rolling him onto a stretcher so they could carry him off to the field. Had he died on Coruscant, his body would be cremated. But I’d been in this war long enough to know his body was headed for a mass grave, marked only with the helmets that no longer had anyone to claim them.
The only funeral rites these warriors were likely to receive.
A hand patted my shoulder. “You did good,” Commander Cody said. Through the thicket of gruff and stern words, I could make out the undertone of pride.
I sighed, knowing it was undeserved. “I deserted my post.” I reflexively tightened my grip on my lightsaber. “I was supposed to stay with the artillery.”
“You saw a problem no one else did, and you acted before it was too late.” Commander Cody glanced over at where the Separatists had been minutes ago. “Your leadership prevented the worst case scenario and turned it into a victory.”
I straightened. “We can only hope my master agrees.”
“Padawan Y/N!”  Master Plo Koon approached. Normally, his presence was a calming one, but at that moment, I was unnerved by the inability to see his eyes.
“Master.” I bowed my head, ignoring the twinge from my neck muscles.
“I’m glad to see you’re alright.”
“Thank you, master.”
Master Koon and Commander Cody started for the camp, sharing information on the battle as they went.
The sound of humming light filled my head, causing me to look up.
Obi-Wan walked straight towards me, dirt covering his grim face and unignited lightsaber clenched tightly in one hand as he crossed the field with his long, uninterrupted strides. He looked tired, but uninjured.
I walked to meet him, a soft smile on my face. “In one piece, old man?”
Obi-Wan huffed. “Of course it would be too much to hope the Separatists might’ve goaded you into holding your tongue.”
“Well, they couldn’t goad me into holding onto my thermal detonator.” I grinned.
Obi-Wan shook his head, but he couldn’t hide a small smile. “Come, we must go check on the village while the troops secure the field.”
Obediently, I fell into step behind him. “How long do you think the Separatists will take to regroup?”
“No way to know,” Obi-Wan answered as we strode through the camp. “They took a hit today, but it’s just another step in the dance.”
I lowered my eyes somberly, the day’s victory coming into perspective. He was right, as always. In fact, I couldn’t think of a single time when Obi-Wan had been wrong about–
“Master Kenobi?” a voice from behind us said.
Commander Cody stood there, his arms folded in an imposing stance.
“Yes, commander?” Obi-Wan asked.
Commander Cody jerked his head to the right. “The village is that way.”
I pursed my lips to keep from smiling.
-
“Don’t put any weight on that leg, y’hear?” I said, playfully narrowing my eyes at the Felucian villager as I wrapped bandages around her wound.
She laughed, bending her long neck sheepishly. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Alright, let’s get you up.” I helped her shift to the end of the rickety cot in the med tent, hoisting her up onto her right leg.
“Thank you,” her husband told me, bowing his head as he reached his arm around his wife, helping her balance.
“No problem,” I replied, watching the two of them hobble towards the mess tent to join the other villagers that had joined the Republic camp to receive some nourishment. Judging by the tightness around the villager’s eyes, she was still in pain, but her husband watched her with such tenderness, as if he was counting himself lucky to be nothing more than a crutch.
“How’d she get injured?”
I jumped, then relaxed when I recognized the voice as Obi-Wan’s. “She got caught in a Separatist trap and nearly lost her foot. Unfortunately for her, the village still hasn’t found a shaman to replace the last one.” I walked over to the makeshift sanitizer, quickly cleaning my hands. “Honestly, she still might lose the foot if she’s not careful.”
When my statements were met only with silence, I glanced up at my master and caught sight of the calculation on his face.
“What?” I asked.
“Nothing. Shall we go eat?”
I narrowed my eyes at him. He was thinking something, and he was thinking something about me. “What aren’t you telling me?”
He let out a little sigh, his mouth curling into a smile. “Seeing you acting as a healer. It’s…satisfying.”
Heat bloomed in my cheeks. “Well, don’t go getting any ideas about jumping in a Rathtar den, ‘cause I’m not patching you up.”
Obi-Wan laughed easily. “C’mon, let’s go eat.”
Perhaps when the clone wars ended, there would be things I missed. I would miss getting to explore new planets and meet new people. I would miss the demands of battle, whether it demanded more energy where there was none or ingenuity in the face of stress.
I would not, however, miss the rations.
I popped another sweet energy cube into my mouth, chewing it and trying not to grimace.
Opposite me, Obi-Wan was staring at the cube in his palm with great distaste. The delighted cry of a child filled the air, and a stampede of them started to run past in the strange waddling way of Felucians.
Obi-Wan slyly reached out to them, allowing one of the children to pluck the cube off his palm and into her mouth with a grin.
I sent him a sideways glance as the children ran out of the mess tent. “You’re going to go hungry.”
Obi-Wan conspiratorially lowered his voice. “Better an empty stomach than a stomach with that stuff inside it.”
I snorted. “I’ve fought on an empty stomach. Trust me, it’s no good.”
Obi-Wan’s face fell. “Krell?”
I didn’t answer. I didn’t need to, Obi-Wan already knew. Instead of dredging up the past, I looked down at my plate. "Agh," I blurted at the burst of pain that ran up my neck.
Obi-Wan tensed. "Is something wrong?"
"No, no." I rubbed at the sore spot. "Caught the wrong end of an explosion and earned myself some whiplash."
"I think I saw some cream in the med tent." Obi-Wan started to get up, but I grabbed his arm.
"I'm fine."
Obi-Wan didn't ask me if I was sure, he simply fixed me with his classic I-know-better-than-you look.
"It'll clear up on it's own," I insisted. "Save the supplies for the clones and the villagers."
Obi-Wan opened his mouth.
“Are you ready, Master Kenobi?” Master Koon approached our table. “The council is waiting.”
My master threw me a look and then got to his feet. “Yes, Master Koon.”
“Your padawan will have much to tell us,” Master Koon said.
I shot upright in my seat. “What?” I looked at Obi-Wan, hoping he would provide me with insight, but he was staring at Mast Koon as well, a slightly wary expression on his face. His Force light was flickering with uncertainty.
“What am I telling?” I asked Master Koon.
“We will want to speak of your actions today,” Master Koon replied, seeming absolutely calm.
My…actions?
An uncomfortable tension settled in my stomach, and the souring of the previously sweet energy cubes made me wish I’d followed my master’s example and refrained from eating.
“Whenever you’re ready, Master Kenobi.” Master Koon left us, walking towards the erected tent for the council meeting.
Obi-Wan didn’t move for a moment. He kept his eyes on Master Koon’s retreating back, but I could feel the buzzing surrounding us, like the Force was flocking to my master. Whatever he was thinking, the Force was drawn to it.
Obi-Wan started walking towards the tent, not sparing me another glance as he left me alone in my panic.
If Master Koon thought my actions deserved a place in a council meeting…perhaps my desertion of my post in the battle was a bigger deal than I thought.
Of course it was. What had I been thinking? I must’ve been possessed by some maverick spirit, urging me to leap into battle without instruction from my superiors. Perhaps the spirit of Skywalker, I thought nervously to myself, except I don’t have the role of the Chosen One to cushion my fall.
Now I was to defend my actions in front of the council? Not once in all my appearances before the Jedi council had they asked me to speak. Every time, I stood in Krell or Kenobi’s shadow, keeping my thoughts and feelings to myself.
The longer I waited to be summoned, the greater the buzzing of the light grew. Only Master Koon and Obi-Wan were physically inside the tent. If the Force gathered around any of the other members, I wouldn’t be able to feel it, not this far away from Coruscant. What could the council be discussing that would send Obi-Wan into such a flutter?
After what felt like ages, Obi-Wan poked his head outside of the tent, making eye contact with me.
I sucked in a breath, slowly rising to my feet.
But then Obi-Wan’s eyes moved to something behind me. “Commander Cody, the council wishes to speak with you.”
Commander Cody appeared as aghast as I felt. “As the council wishes,” he said finally. He got up from his chair, shooting me a look before ducking into the tent. I stared at the tent flap. Why did they want to speak to Cody? Was it simply for a report on the battle? Or were they asking Cody to give a report about me?
Altogether too soon for my tastes, the tent flapped opened as Commander Cody came out. I searched for something in his face to clue me into what he’d said about me, but his stoic face revealed nothing.
“Y/N.” My master stood, holding the tent flap open. “We’re ready for you.” I stayed where I was, trying to read his face, but the words there were in Shyriiwook.
“Hells,” I muttered. “Here comes the heavy weather.” After lingering a moment to lift my chin high, I walked inside the tent.
Master Koon stood off to one side while Obi-Wan moved to stand at the other. In between them, life-sized holograms of each member of the Jedi Council was projected. With the glitching and imprecision of the transmissions, it was impossible to tell what expressions they wore.
“Padawan Y/N,” Master Windu began, “the 3rd Regiment went into conflict under your discretion, correct?”
Aware of Master Windu’s deep distaste for excuses, I erred on the side of brevity. “Yes.”
“And you joined them once the comms went out?”
“Yes.”
“Can you please tell us why?”
“When the comms went out, I surveyed the battlefield with binocs, and I spotted the enemy making a move towards the 3rd Regiment in force. Knowing they weren’t expecting conflict and being unable to communicate with them, I left orders for the artillery to fire upon their position while I got to the line as quickly as I could.”
Master Fisto tilted his head. “Commander Cody informed us you arrived on foot.”
It wasn’t a question, and yet there was still a suspicious silence. “I…looked for a speeder of some sort, but the only ship with the artillery was the command platform, and I wouldn’t be able to land that by the front without it getting shot down.”
“How did you get down off the mountain?” Master Windu asked.
“I jumped.”
The humming of the light dissipated for a moment, and it took everything in me to keep my focus on Master Windu.
Master Windu cleared his throat. “So once you…jumped…and you reached the northern front, then you took control of the regiment?”
I hesitated. “No.”
“No?” Master Tiin asked, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees.
Sweat gathered on my palms. “I told Commander Cody of the oncoming fighters, and once a messenger was sent to the other platforms, I went to the front line to buy enough time for the regiment to deploy.” A few of the masters glanced over at each other, and I couldn’t keep quiet. “I didn’t give Commander Cody orders. I informed him of the situation and gave him the time he needed to rally his troops.”
“But you did take three clones with you to bring down the jammer.”
“Yes.”
“And you brought it down how exactly?”
I swallowed hard. “A thermal detonator.”
“Why didn’t you go to Master Koon or Master Kenobi directly when the comms went out?” Master Mundi asked.
I hesitated. It felt like a trick question, but it was impossible to know what the masters wanted me to say, so I opted for the truth. “Protecting the village was the most important. That’s why the Republic is here, to defend life. There was very little time, so I trusted my–”
Gut, I very nearly said, but Jedi didn’t make decisions on gut feelings.
“I trusted my training.”
No one spoke, and a skittish feeling scratched at the walls of my stomach. To stand in front of the most powerful Jedis while none of them spoke? How royally had I screwed up?
“Impressive,” Master Yoda muttered, stroking his chin. “Impressive, very.”
…impressive?
Did he speak of my disobedience? Were my actions a kind of wrong of epic proportions, it was impressive someone could have behaved so poorly?
My hands started shaking.
“Padawan Y/N, have you started preparing for your trials?” Master Unduli asked.
“Yes,” I said hesitantly, unsure of where the question was leading. “I’ve been studying for months.” A strange, shuddering pulse of light shot through the Force like a bolt of lightning, and I couldn’t stop myself from glancing at my master. His stony face offered no insight.
“I don’t think you’ll be studying for your trials much longer,” Master Unduli said.
Desperation rocked through my core. I knew it, I thought. Abandoning my post would get me kicked out of the Jedi Order.
“The way I see it,” Master Unduli said, looking over at Master Windu beside him, “Padawan Y/N acted as a Jedi Knight in this situation and turned the tide of the battle.” My mouth fell open as murmurs of agreement rippled through the tent. I quickly closed it, hoping none of the masters had noticed it.
“We commend you on your quick thinking and serenity under pressure,” Master Windu said.
Commend? Serenity? I hardly dared to believe it. “Thank you, masters.”
“The jogan doesn’t roll far from the vine, eh, Master Kenobi?” Master Fisto asked, and appreciative chuckles rippled through the room. Not even my years of strength and endurance training kept me from smiling. They were comparing me to Obi-Wan? That was surely one of the highest compliments in the galaxy.
Aching to see the approval on my master’s face, I dared a peek at him.
But instead of a beam of pride, Obi-Wan’s brows were furrowed and his lips downturned. My stomach flipped. Was he displeased with me?
“We’ll be keeping our eyes on you, Padawan Y/N,” Master Mundi said, drawing my attention once more. “As for right now, you are dismissed.”
“Yes, master, thank you, master.” I bowed low and left the tent, leaving Obi-Wan and Master Koon to finish up their business with the council. Once the tent flap closed behind me, I breathed in the heavy air, trying to process what had just happened.
“Well?” Commander Cody asked from his chair, helmet off and eyebrows raised. “What did they say?”
“They’re pleased with me,” I answered, surprised by my own words. “They commended me.”
Commander Cody rose from his seat to clap me on the shoulder, celebrating with me in his own grisly way: without saying a word. No reassurances or comments.
“I thought they were going to kick me out of the Order,” I confessed. “Or give me some consequence, not…not tell me I did well.” I smiled at Cody. “But they did.”
Cody went back to his chair. “Im sure your master is very proud.”
I stopped.
Obi-Wan didn’t seem proud. In fact, he hadn’t said a single thing about the battle. If I’d done something right, Obi-Wan would’ve given a quick affirmation before we went to the village. If I’d done something wrong, we would’ve been knee-deep in a lecture instead of spending time with the children. But Obi-Wan hadn’t done either. If I didn’t do anything right and I didn’t do anything wrong…then what had I done?
Was the Jedi council being generous in their commendation?
No.
The Jedi Council showing kindness to me had never been much of a priority before, so they must’ve meant it.
Why was it, then, that Master Windu of all people praised me, and Obi-Wan hadn’t even smiled? Was Obi-Wan simply withholding his pride to save it for the right time? Or did he disagree with the other masters? Did Obi-Wan believe that I’d acted rashly and deserved to be scolded for my disobedience?
I felt weirdly jittery, as though my bones were shaking underneath my skin.
“Safe travels, Master Kenobi,” Master Koon said as he and my master came out of the tent behind me. “May the Force be with you.”
“And with you,” Obi-Wan replied.
With a nod in my direction, Master Koon walked off in the direction of the mess tent, and Obi-wan brushed past me to walk in Commander Cody’s direction.
I caught up to Obi-Wan. “We’re leaving?
“The council is pulling us out,” he said, not bothering to look over his shoulder at me. “The Separatists have pulled back, and the Felucian Commandos can advance without us here. Master Koon will remain to supervise until this heats up again.”
Dreams of Coruscant filled my mind. The tall buildings, the tempered weather, the crowds. “Are we returning to the temple?” I asked hopefully.
“No, they're assigning us to a diplomatic mission.”
“Diplomatic mission?” I echoed, coming to a stop. I’d never been on one. They were rare these days, and in the days when they’d been common, Master Krell would most certainly not have been the council’s first choice to go, which meant I wouldn’t have been either.
Obi-Wan, the great Negotiator, would be.
My master and Cody exchanged quick words.
“Y/N, let’s go,” Obi-Wan said, his every word clipped.
There was no point in telling me to gather my stuff; the only things I possessed with the robes on my body and the lightsaber at my belt.
Cody flicked two fingers out from his forehead in a tiny salute. “See you later, kid.”
“Next time you see me,” I said with a smile, “I might be a Jedi Knight.”
“About time,” he said gruffly.
I could’ve hugged him for his words, and I stood for a moment, debating doing so.
“Y/N,” said a firm voice behind me.
Ducking my head, I followed Obi-Wan towards the rudimentary spaceport. His light was casting uncertain shadows through the Force. I tilted my head, honing in on the flickers, but the nearer I got to it, the more light skittered away from me.
How strange that I'd felt him as clear as day across a battlefield, but now I couldn't when I walked beside him.
When we reached the ship, I wordlessly went to the cockpit, preparing to take off. According to the rumors, Obi-Wan was an excellent pilot, but I only saw him occupy the pilot’s chair when we were under fire. If we were simply navigating from one planet to another, he left the piloting to me.
“Where are we going, Master?” I called behind me.
“To Taris, in the Outer Rim.”
Taris.
A planet of overgrown swamps and yellow smog that choked the atmosphere. And if we were headed there for a negotiation, we were headed to the far side, where all the wealthy lived.
Fantastic.
-
The ship’s engine hummed as it hurtled through lightspeed.
I settled myself on the floor, ducking my head to catch sight of what I needed in the mirror I’d propped up against the wall. I lifted the pair of scissors in my head, grabbing a section of hair.
“What are you doing?”
Obi-Wan stared down at me, the grime gone from his face. He must’ve washed it.
“My hair’s too long, so…I’m cutting it.”
A strange heaviness shot through the Force, as if Obi-Wan’s light had tumbled to the ground with a loud and hollow thunk. Before I could try to reach the light, Obi-Wan turned away from me.
His Force signature was confusing me left and right today. The exorbitant turmoil I felt through the Force seemed disproportionate to the lack of words coming out of his mouth. Usually when I sensed this much distress in him, we dialogued about it.
Perhaps the issue now wasn’t with him, but with me. As the battlefield on Felucia had shown, sometimes the receiver was a problem just as much as the transmitter.
I shook my head softly, raising the scissors again to make the first cut.
“You’ve been my padawan for less than six months,” Obi-wan said suddenly, nearly making me jump out of my skin. He stood above me again, his lips pursed.
Why was he mentioning our timeline? “I’m sorry?”
“I didn’t realize,” he said, the words curt, “that you were studying to take the trials.”
“Oh.” I looked away, my scissors hovering uncertainty as I tried to decide whether to go ahead with cutting or put them down. “Well, I’ve been a padawan for years.” Obi-Wan said nothing. I shifted to face him, gripping the scissors in my lap. “I’m twenty-two. Everyone I trained with as a youngling has passed their trials already, and some of them even have padawans of their own now.”
“Right,” came Obi-Wan’s unenthusiastic reply.
“Do you think I’m not prepared?” I asked worriedly.
“No, no!” he burst out. “I mean, yes, you are, you’re capable, to be sure.” He scratched his chin. “I guess I thought I had more time…” he trailed off, his expression troubled. “More time to…to teach you, to help you…improve.”
“What do I need improvement on?” He didn’t answer, sending my anxiety through the roof. I got to my feet, abandoning the scissors on the floor. Obi-Wan took a step back so as to keep us from colliding. “If there’s something I should be working on, something that would hold me back, I would like to know.”
“There’s…” He paused, his eyes darting all over my face. Why did he seem so…uncertain?
Then it dawned on me, the reason he was reluctant to speak. I crossed my arms, trying to hold the pieces of myself together through the implosion of disappointment. “It’s because of Master Krell, isn’t it? No one wants me to pass the trials because no one trusts me.”
“That’s not true,” Obi-Wan said sharply.
“It’s because of what I did with the regiment, then. I should’ve found some way to contact you first."
“Y/N-”
“Or maybe it’s my combat skills, I know I’m not the best fighter–”
“Y/N!”
I bit my lip, keeping the flood of words from bursting forth.
With the opposite problem, Obi-Wan didn’t form any words, didn’t move. He just…examined me.
“Why am I not ready?” I asked, slowly and clearly.
“It’s…you’re…I think…” Obi-Wan visibly wrestled with the words coming out of his mouth, seemingly unsure of which sentiment to land on. Finally, he let out a large sigh. “You’ll be a good Jedi Knight.”
I blinked. That was not the answer I was expecting, nor was it a true answer to my question. When Obi-Wan minced words like this, he minced with great care. So what was the hidden meaning, the intent hiding behind his words?
Obi-Wan shuffled towards the cockpit, leaving me alone with the burgeoning company of my thoughts.
He had doubts. He must’ve, for why else would the echoes of his thoughts fall so heavy?
It was strange. Obi-Wan fought for me, fought to overpower my reputation within the Order and establish me as a true Jedi. The council had always been skeptical, and it hadn’t hindered him one bit. In fact, it seemed to spur him on.
Now I’d received affirmation from the council, yet Obi-Wan had doubts?
I returned to my reflection, trying to resume my planned activity. But my hands were shaking so much, I couldn’t hold the scissors straight. Every time I worked up the courage to make a cut, the scissors faltered.

"(Y/N)! Wait! You've got to confront Master Kenobi, this isn't fair!" your fellow padawan and good friend, Ahsoka Tano, called after you as she struggled to keep your angry, unwavering pace down the hall, away from the Jedi Council's quarters. You slid your fingers through your hair, feeling as if you could almost rip them from your scalp. The Jedi Council had called you in to discuss the raid on Kamino, describing your actions as "irresponsible" and "sloppy". They ultimately decided you were unfit for real combat and were to undergo training in the Jedi Temple for a year until you could fight alongside your master responsibly.
To say you were angry was an understatement. You swore every stomp could be heard throughout the temple. You had only been able to accompany your master on his assignments half a year ago, and now that freedom was going to be taken away again? The longer you stayed cooped up within the Jedi Temple, the more the hallways seemed to spin. It was nauseating, and your master knew how much you longed for a mission. He also knew how capable you were to handle yourself out there...if anything, you definitely did handle yourself at Kamino just fine.
"I don't get it, why would my master do this?" You muttered as you slowed down your pace for Ahsoka to catch up, turning to her once she finally did. You both retired by a nearby staircase, plopping yourselves down to take a break. "He's not one to punish like this..."
Ahsoka huffed in deep thought, gazing at you sympathetically as she pushed your hair behind your ear. "I mean, you saved him, didn't you? There's no way he's angry at you for-"
Your Togruta sidekick cut herself off, pausing as if she had a revelation. She then turned to you, eyes blown wide as she gripped you by the shoulders. Pain shot up through every nerve in your shoulder, earning her a glare from you and her giving an apologetic look in return.
"(Y/N)...what if Obi-Wan didn't do this to you?" She suggested, loosening her grip on you, her eyes visibly lost in thought. "It must've been-"
"Who else other than my master would do this to me?!" You felt bad for interrupting her. since you know she wasn't fond of that, but she didn't care as she continued to look at you, her eyes prodding for you to figure out the answer.
You thought back to the mission. We landed at Kamino. Master Kenobi fought with General Grevious and almost fell to his death. I swooped in with my aircraft and saved him, and I got injured. I ushered him to safety. I helped bring Master to the medical ward. He scolded me, but he seemed grateful I was there. You paused.
Anakin comes in screaming like a madman about how I wasn't ready.
At this point, you were tired of the feeling of piping hot tears building up and slipping down your face, but whenever it came to that particular Jedi, you couldn't help yourself. He always seemed to unravel you, and it never seemed fair to you. Why did he do this to you? To keep you in Coruscant to make sure you were in one piece so he could screw you after his assignments? You wanted to be more than a plaything to him, you wished he saw you as an equal...you wished he even saw you at all.
Shamefully, your hands were your curtains as you hid your face, sobbing into Ahsoka's shoulder as she held you close and caressed your head. She didn't know about what went on between you and her master, but she was smart enough to sense a tension.
"Ugh! I oughta give that Skyguy a piece of my mind," she threatened with a scowl on her face, letting up her scary demeanor briefly to press a kiss to the top of your head. "You didn't do anything wrong. He's always been so weird to you for no reason. I'm supposed to spar with him in a bit...if you want me to talk to him, I can."
Shaking your head, you removed your hands from your face, your skin wet and splotchy from your tears. You didn't want to drag Ahsoka in to the mess that was you and Anakin. Reluctantly pulling away from her embrace, you continued your descent down the stairs towards your dormitories. "I'll see you later, Ahsoka."
You knew she wasn't going to be satisfied with that answer, but you hoped she wouldn't do anything too rash.
-
Anakin tried to not dwell on the thought of you. He kept trying to convince himself that restricting your Jedi training was reasonable, but the guilt of lying to the Council for his own selfishness kept creeping back. It was crawling under his skin, constantly sending shivers down his spine. He couldn't wait to finish up Ahsoka's sparring so he could retire to his quarters and relax.
"SKYGUY! Why are you such a prick?! How could you do that to (Y/N)?"
Alas, a lesson he constantly learned at the Jedi Temple is that he could never get what he wanted. He heard Ahsoka stalk up to him, stopping right behind him. He took a deep breath, brandishing his deactivated lightsaber as he turned to face his padawan. "I'm not aware of such a thi-"
The last thing he expected was the tip of Ahsoka's lit-up lightsaber directly in his face. After wincing at the heat, he gave her a condescending look, and she seemed to shrink a bit, retracting her lightsaber and holding it at her side.
"Please don't make me do chores for that, master...I'm just mad at you. (Y/N) and I know that you were the one that talked to the Jedi Council about her. You can bully other padawans, I don't care. But you know how easily worked up I get about her!" Ahsoka explained, defiantly crossing her arms as she gave him her death glare.
Suddenly, Anakin found the corner of his lips tugging up a bit. He knew what it was like to get worked up about you, it was the whole reason why he lied to the Council in the first place.
There it was. The twinge of guilt from lying about you to the people you both looked up to. He knew you didn't deserve it at all, but it was the only way to ensure that he would get to keep you. Seemingly out of nowhere, he found it hard to meet his padawan's eyes, indicating his guilt, and in turn infuriating her. She grunted in her anger, kicking a nearby deactivated practice droid to calm herself down. Anakin watched blankly, and he couldn't help but think about how you handled yourself when you were angry.
When something was troubling you, you didn't cause a scene like Ahsoka. No, you would keep to yourself and your friends. Your lips would be sealed shut until you were feeling okay again. You would keep your head down, but you would watch and listen intently. It was only then that Anakin realized that you've been troubled ever since the medical ward, no, ever since the morning of the Kamino raid.
"If you're going to bully anyone, bully me. I'm your apprentice!" Ahsoka's shrill voice sliced straight through his thoughts. "You have to fix this! Do you realize how unfair it is-"
"You don't think I know how unfair it is?!" Anakin shouted back at his padawan, utterly shocking her and making her take a step back. Gripping his hair, nearly white-knuckling, he turned his back on Ahsoka. "I know very well how unfair it is. (Y/N) is just going through what I went through as a padawan. It's normal. I am doing this for her safety since Obi-Wan doesn't know how to handle her," he answered shakily as he tried to regulate his thoughts, but it was impossible with the sound of his pounding heartbeat drumming in his ears.
"But she only had a couple grazes-"
"I would prefer if she had none at all."
Ahsoka was taken aback by her master's answers, for once finding herself at a loss for words. Since when did Anakin feel so strongly for you? Had she just been too caught up in her apprenticeship to notice? No, she would notice something like this. He barely even looked at or talked to you. She furrowed her brows at the thought, her fury rising once again to come to your defense.
"If you cared so much about her, you should've known how this would make her feel, master," Ahsoka scoffed, arms crossed, prepared to search for answers. Anakin stood there, him now at a loss for words. He wished that he hadn't helped nurture Ahsoka's sharp tongue, but she was right. He knew that he caused all this, the reason why you and he spent those nights together in the first place. The shame of inhibiting your progress, ignoring you, pulling you into his mess in the first place felt like it was all crumbling down onto him like rocks and boulders, feeling like he was being pelted with every word from Ahsoka.
"Listen, master, I don't know what your deal with (Y/N) is. I don't know if you have a crush on her or if you feel protective of her because you guys were brought up the same way. Who knows what's going on between you two? And I won't even bring up how all of this goes against many aspects of the Jedi Code, but just know that you went too far. You're not protecting her, you're just selfish. Besides, how could you say all of this when you pretend she isn't even there? She pretty much hates you now, you can't even treat her like a person, and you-"
But Anakin couldn't bring himself to stay and listen to the rest of Ahsoka's berating. He had to find you. He made a run for it, leaving his padawan alone in the training room, all while honing in on the Force to get a sense as to where you would be. Once he focused, he realized that your troubled state of mind was easy to detect. How could he be so caught up in his own feelings and desires that he failed to notice yours? It was like when he chased you to the medical ward, his body could barely keep up with the speed of his feet, his mind nothing but a distressed frenzy. His body has been through far more intense obstacles before, but the stakes of any mission never felt as high as the stake of you. His heart seemed to seize and splutter with every other step, and each one had him worry if he had ruined everything with you entirely.
He couldn't lose those nights with you, the secret meetings that became dear to his heart, unbeknownst to him. He craved the way your skin felt under his rough, battle-worn hands as he connected your birthmarks and scars together like a constellation. The sounds of your labored breathing and rapid heartbeat always matched his own, bringing him an overwhelming clarity. With every blink, your ever-so-versatile eyes stared right back at him. Teasing him, tantalizing him. Wanting him, studying him. You saw him for more than what he brought to the surface, made him feel capable of being needed, being loved.
Anakin never stopped once to take a break until he was met with the shut door of your dormitory. The way he banged on the door would make anyone think there was an emergency.
He couldn't lose you.

Padawan Reader
*Y/n completely lost on Coruscant*
Y/n: Cody! Cody! Dude, have you seen my Commander Cody?
Fox, already done: nope.
Y/n: hmm...
*Y/n in a lower level with Fox*
Y/n: Cody! *looks under some crates* he is not in there. *Fox in disbelief*
*Y/n on a landing ramp*
Y/n, shouting: CODY! *a stray tooka sits in front of them* How's it going man? *Fox trying to chase away the tooka*
*Y/n looking into an apartment*
Y/n: Cody? *creepy noises coming from the flat* That's cool. * Fox pulls Y/n far away from the flat*
Fox: Y/n, can you just... tell me why you out here, looking for Cody?
Y/n: you know he is my master's Commander. He welcomed me, because my master had some problems with his ex-padawan, and his ex-padawan's padawan. We got a lot in common. We both think Skywalker is a dumbass. He never had a kid before and I never had a father either.
*Obi-wan, Anakin and Ahsoka ina stolen spacecar, trying to catch some war criminal, Cody and Rex behind them, trying to save them*
Y/n: CODY!
*Wooley, Waxer and Boil back at the Negotiator*
Wooley: Anybody know whose lightsaber this is?
Boil: it's the padawan's.
Waxer: *panicking* Has anybody seen Y/n?
*in Coruscant*
Y/n: Cody! No, he's out here. I can feel into my nuggets man.
Fox: Aren't you nervous out here, Y/n? And Coruscant? It's kind of dangerous kid.
Y/n: Coruscant is the most peaceful place in the universe. And I'm a jedi, what could go wrong?
*Cody after he got a call from Waxer, that Y/n is missing*
Cody: everything is good, I can fix it.
*Cody after he got a call from Fox, that Y/n and him got into a fight with some bandits and they are waiting for Cody in the medbay*
Cody: *muffled scream*
Huh, it needed some work, but I did it. I made some changes, added some things to make it more star wars like, and of course added some clones because they are important. I hope you guys enjoyed it (I did).

Angstember Prompt -  "You have to wake up. Please wake up, for me."
It wasn’t that your Master didn’t trust you to go out alone, you knew he didn’t doubt your abilities but he did prefer having you close by, preferred to have you within arms length so that if a situation happened to turn bad he could keep an eye on you. You didn’t hate his protectiveness but you did wish that during one of the few times he had let you go off without him after much arguing on your behalf, wanting to prove you could do something without his help, that it didn’t go terribly wrong.
Thankfully he hadn’t sent you in completely alone but still the one man he had sent with you was fairing just as well against the droid army, who were definitely not supposed to be there, as you were. Cody and you were back to back with one another, him blasting as many droids as he could whilst you used both your lightsaber and the Force to do the same.
The mission was supposed to be fairly easy, the Jedi Council had enough intel about this base to know that it had been abandoned fairly quickly and that there could be information that was useful to them left behind. You had it on good authority that there may be a few droids who were left but the army had been taken.
It should have been a straight forward mission, you and Cody walk into the base, search it for anything that could help the Jedi and leave. Maybe take down one or two droids whilst you were there but nothing overly taxing.
Instead you and Cody had landed and it had been quiet, no defences, no droids, nothing but the abandoned base you were promised. It wasn’t until you got to the door that the droid army flooded out, surrounding you on all sides before you could even register what had happened. From there it all seemed to be a blur until you saw Cody go flying to the floor and you were blocking hits from every direction.
It was useless to fight back, impossible to gain the upper hand against so many droids. You tried to use your comms link to alert your Master, to alert anyone who might be listening, but at some point during the fight the comms link that rested on your wrist had been hit and only silence came from it.
Sweat ran from your forehead and your breathing was coming out in pants as you continued swinging your lightsaber in one hand and the other was directing droids into each other, tossing them as far back into each other using the Force as possible in a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand.
You fought back as hard as you could, mind screaming in hope that Obi-Wan would sense your distress through the Force wherever he might be. Just like the comms link you only heard silence.
One of the droids managed to catch you off guard, somehow landing a hit that had your lightsaber flying out of your hand and your hand itself was left in burning pain. Before you even had time to react, to use the Force to guide your lightsaber back to you, shocks ran throughout your entire body as you twitched and screamed before everything turned dark.
“And once Master Windu and his men have completed the ground assault we’ll come in from here and here,” Anakin instructed, his gaze on the holo map as he pointed to different points of entry.
The words were lost to Obi-Wan, he had been listening to his former Padawan until he felt something that had him tensing, hand moving towards the lightsaber on his hip as he tried to figure out exactly what was wrong.
“Master?” Anakin asked, finally looking away from the map and over to Obi-Wan, taking in his far away look and tense form. “Master!”
“Something’s wrong.” Obi-Wan murmured, a frown on his face as he felt fear through the bond you shared and his heart almost stopped as he felt the bond go silent. “Have we had word from Y/N or Cody?”
“No Sir, they haven’t checked in yet.” Rex told him and Obi-Wan felt panic building inside him.
“Anakin, you’ll have to lead this mission without me and send my apologies to Master Windu.” Obi-Wan told him, already ordering for a cruiser to be ready for him as he turned to leave.
“Wait, Master!” Anakin called, following Obi-Wan and stopping him with a hand to his arm, “What’s happening?”
“Something has happened to Y/N, maybe Cody too. I have to go.” Obi-Wan told him shortly, tugging his arm away from Anakin and making his way to the hangar bay, glancing towards Anakin as he continued to follow him.
“You’re sure they’re in danger? Maybe they’re just-” Anakin began, knowing full well how quickly missions could turn and make it impossible to check in.
“They’re in danger, she’s, Y/N’s in danger, Anakin, and I sent her there.” Obi-Wan told him, desperately trying to keep his emotions at bay, to stop the onslaught of images that invaded his mind of all the things that could be happening to you. “I sent her there.”
“Master,” Anakin said, struggling for words. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d saw Obi-Wan like this, “She’ll be fine-”
“You can’t guarantee that Anakin.” Obi-Wan protested, cutting Anakin off again.
“Yes I can because you trained her and even if something has happened she’ll still be fine because you’re going to make sure she is. She knows you’re coming, Obi-Wan.” Anakin told him, the two of them coming to a stop outside of the cruiser and Obi-Wan turned towards his old Padawan, worry clear in his eyes but his shoulders did drop a little as the tension left them at his words. “Bring them home safe, Master.”
As you came back to yourself you groaned as shocks pulsed throughout your entire body. You tried to open your eyes but found they were too heavy, your entire body felt heavy, your body being forced to stay upright making you feel every bit of pain from the shocks.
“Sir?” You heard somebody call and it took a few moments to register that the voice belonged to Cody.  You tried to answer him but all that left your lips was another pained groan as your body jolted weakly as it was shocked once more. “Can you hear me?”
It seemed like an eternity passed before you managed to pull your eyes open, blinking them shut harshly despite the fact the room wasn’t that well lit. After a few more seconds though you managed to open them properly and looked over to where Cody was being held next to you, his own body pulsing with the shocks.
“Where are we?” You managed to ask weakly, crying out softly as more shocks hit you.
“I’m not sure,” Cody told you, pausing to let out a pained grunt before continuing, “nobody has been in since I woke up. I can’t send word to the General either.” He told you, nodding down to the broken comms unit on his wrist.
“Obi-Wan,” You began but cut yourself off as the shocks seemed to get worse all of a sudden, one after the other in rapid motion, the intensity of them increasing with each one and you couldn’t stop the tears that poured down your face. “Obi-Wan please,” You started to say but the pain became too much and you slipped off again.
Obi-Wan could hardly remember the trip to the planet you were on, what he did know is that it was much too far away. It was just over two days after he had set off that he was landing on the planet's sandy ground, cursing himself for sending you so far away, anything could have happened to you in the two days' travel.
Since he couldn’t land outside the base he had landed a few klicks away, thankfully it wasn’t too far a distance and before long he could see the base as well as the damage you and Cody must have caused before something happened to you.
The number of droids was alarming to say the least, dozens of them lay defeated at his feet and these were just the ones two people were able to take down, Obi-Wan shuddered to think just how many there had been. Clearly their intel had been very wrong, to go from an abandoned base to one protected by a droid army.
As he walked further down towards the entrance he paused as something glistened under the suns and felt his heart sink as he saw your lightsaber laying there, knowing you wouldn’t lose it unless something had happened to you.
Obi-Wan shook his head as he picked it up before he forced himself to move, no time to think about what it meant now, the only important thing was getting you out alive.
“You have to stay awake, Y/N.” Cody said from somewhere at your side but your eyes remained shut.
You had no idea how long you’d been here, in the time you had been there though multiple creatures had entered the room, all of them demanding information about things you didn’t even know about. You were only a Padawan and told them as much, it wasn’t like you were a member of the Council, you had no idea of the information they knew.
Still the creatures refused to believe you and each of them had different tactics to make you talk, all of them ending with you sobbing, bleeding, screaming and pleading for Obi-Wan. Your body was exhausted and battered, your throat was painfully sore from the screaming and you struggled to stay awake. When they weren’t torturing you they had you held up in a containment field and continued to shock you every few seconds, your body never getting a single moment of relief.
“Open your eyes, Sir.” Cody demanded hoarsely, he wasn’t in as bad a state as you were, having only been bound and shocked repeatedly. You knew he would have traded places with you in a heartbeat but the creatures only wanted you, they figured a Padawan of a Jedi Council member must hold all the knowledge Obi-Wan had.
“Obi-Wan,” You managed to choke out, tears silently running down your face as each breath pained you. “Obi-”
“He’s coming for you,” Cody promised and you tried to open your eyes, tried to look over at him but it was so hard to move your body. “He’s coming for you, Y/N, I promise but you have to stay awake, you hear me?”
You wanted to tell him that yes, you heard him but your body refused to cooperate, refused to do as you wanted it to. Instead you felt yourself drifting off again, Cody’s voice eventually fading into nothing as you lost consciousness.
The base was a large, almost factory-like building with many doors and although Obi-Wan managed to enter the base without much difficulty, taking out a droid or two, he was having a much more difficult time locating you now that he couldn’t feel you through the Force though he refused to think about that too much, refused to let himself think about what it could mean.
“Oh no, a Jedi.” One of the droids said once Obi-Wan had made his way deep enough into the building to find a section that had much more activity.
“Where is the girl?” He asked, lightsaber raised at the ready.
When he received nothing but threats he was quick to take down the droids until one remained and he watched as it dropped its gun to point down a long corridor. With a nod he made quick work of that droid too so it didn’t alert whoever was holding you of his presence.
He made his way down the corridor, lightsaber in front of him lighting his path down. He listened as he passed each door and began to lose hope in this direction, figuring the droid had been lying when he saw two more stood in front of a door a few more steps away from him.
Obi-Wan didn’t hesitate to move forward, quickly dismantling the two droids before letting out an annoyed huff when he tried the door only to realise it could only be accessed with a facial scan. It didn’t take him more than a second to jam the lightsaber through the door, cutting a circle big enough for him to get through and using the Force to quickly move the piece.
“General?” He heard a hoarse voice from inside as he climbed through to see Cody. “General, she needs you.”
At those words his attention turned to where Cody nodded, his heart stopping as he saw you being held up, your body was slumped in on itself. From where he stood at the door he could see bruises and blood and he could only watch in horror as your body weakly jolted as shocks assaulted you.
Quickly he snapped himself out of his frozen state and ran over to you, easily freeing you from the binds holding you in place and catching you as you fell. It didn’t take him much effort to pick you up, carrying you in his arms as he made his way to Cody, freeing him from his binds too and handing him a blaster.
“It’s good to see you, Sir.” Cody said, relief clear in his voice and Obi-Wan nodded as he tightened his grip on you though still being careful of the many wounds. “She knew you’d come.”
Those words sent a warm feeling through him and he had to force it down until he knew you were going to be ok.
“It’s good to see you too, now let’s get out of here.” Obi-Wan said and thankfully whoever was holding you still didn’t seem to know Obi-Wan had broken in and rescued the two of you. There was no struggle getting out of the building, Cody dealing with a few droids here and there but nothing like when you had first arrived.
It was as you all boarded the ship the droid army flooded out of the building and Obi-Wan was quick to start the engine and put some much needed distance between you and them, narrowly avoiding the shots being fired at them.
“What in the stars happened out here?” Obi-Wan asked Cody, glancing back to where he had placed you in one of the seats, his robe wrapped around you as you remained unconscious.
“There were so many of them, Sir, no matter how hard we fought back, more of them kept coming. They got me first, I-I should have protected her but-”
“Cody, this isn’t your fault.” Obi-Wan assured but the trooper just sighed before continuing.
“I woke first and we were being held in that room. Nobody came in whilst I was awake but once Y/N woke these creatures came and started,” Cody cut himself off as fury ran through his veins, hating how useless he had been, not able to free himself to help you, “Sir, they tortured her, they wanted information about a holocron? Something about all future Jedi? I don’t know, Sir, but they seemed to think Y/N had the information they wanted. She’s been in and out of consciousness for a while but passed out not long before you got there.”
The rest of the trip was fairly silent. It was a two day journey back and in that time you hadn’t woken up once. Obi-Wan had to force himself not to panic, to focus on getting you back home and straight to the medical facility.
Cody had taken over flying the ship after a day's rest with the instruction that Obi-Wan should be with you and Obi-Wan was hardly going to protest to that. As he sat beside you, holding your hand gently in his as his thumb brushed the bruised skin he couldn’t stop the tears that came to his eyes.
“You have to wake up.” He whispered to you as he lifted your hand to his lips, pressing a soft gentle kiss to the back of it as he let the tears fall down his cheeks. “Please wake up, for me.”
His desperate plea received no response and he could do little more than sit by your side and cry until he was forced to collect himself as Cody landed the ship and he lifted you into his arms again.
Anakin was already waiting in the hangar bay along with Rex, a medical droid beside them and transport waiting to take you to the medical facility. He shot Anakin a thankful look, his former Padawan nodding back with a sympathetic smile before his gaze strayed down to you in Obi-Wan’s arms.
Obi-Wan lay you down as gently as possible, his robes still covering your body and most of the visible bruises, though the two who had gathered to greet you winced at the cuts and bruises on your face, Obi-Wan having cleaned the blood as best he could on the journey back.
“I have to check in with the Council,” Obi-Wan announced after the medical droid promised to take you over to the medical facility, “Cody make sure you’re treated too.”
“Obi-Wan,” Anakin protested as the medical droid and Cody left with you, “the Council can wait, she needs you now.”
“I’m not sure what help I can be to her now, Anakin. At least by speaking to the Council we can arrange further investigation into exactly what happened out there.” Obi-Wan told him but truthfully all he wanted to do was follow you, hating to be separated from you when he’d only just gotten you back.
“Well fill me in and I’ll inform the council of what happened out there.” And in that moment Obi-Wan had never been more thankful for the man in front of him, a grateful smile spreading across his face as he reached up to squeeze Anakin’s shoulder.
“Thank you Anakin.” He said, trying to get across just how much he meant those words and the smile Anakin gave him in return showed his meaning was clear and so with that he told Anakin what Cody had told him before parting ways and making his way over to you.
By the time he arrived at the medical facility you were still being patched up by the medical droids, bacta salve covering most of your body as they worked on stitching cuts Obi-Wan hadn’t even seen. He stood back and let them work though he desperately wanted to be next to you. He noticed Cody in the bed next to yours, armour completely removed as he rested, the exhaustion finally taking over knowing that the two of you were home and safe.
The medical droids seemed to work on you for hours but eventually they pulled away from you, running one last check to make sure you were ok before they left, one of them making their way over to Obi-Wan.
“Is she going to be ok?” He asked, trying to keep his voice from shaking.
“She has suffered severe electro shocks, we cannot confirm how much harm this has done until she is awake. She may be fine, sore but fine, or she may lose feeling in certain areas. The burns will heal with repeated treatments. Her breathing is stable after the shocks caused some difficulty. Her wounds are treatable, repeated treatments will see them clearing up though some may scar. She will be fine.” The medical droid told him and Obi-Wan almost sobbed in relief at hearing last those four words.
“Thank you,” He said tearfully, “When will she wake?”
“I cannot say. After the abuse her body has withstood it has forced itself to shut off, both to stop feeling the pain and because of the exhaustion she felt. It could be a matter of hours or days but she will wake.” The droid said and Obi-Wan drew a shaky breath, nodding his thanks before making his way over to the chair that had been left at the side of your bed.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Obi-Wan whispered, the words mumbled against the back of your hand that he had taken in his and brought up to his lips to press a gentle kiss to, “I should never have sent you out there, I should have been with you.”
Eventually Obi-Wan’s tears stopped falling and it wasn’t long until he fell asleep with his head resting on the bed, hand still entwined with yours.
Days passed with no movement from you, Obi-Wan only had the constant beep of the heart monitor telling him you were ok as he sat by your side day in and day out. There was a war going on outside the room, one that he should be involved in, giving orders to men who counted on him and yet he found that he didn’t care. Anything that took him away from your side wasn’t worth it.
Thankfully Anakin hadn’t hesitated to fill Obi-Wan’s space, telling his Master that he would make sure everything was going to plan and his only job was making sure you made a full recovery. Obi-Wan hadn’t thought he could feel more grateful towards Anakin than he had the day he’d arrived back at base with you but his former Padawan continued to prove him wrong.
Even though you had yet to wake your injuries were healing themselves, the burns had eased, the bruises had faded and most of your stitches had been removed. The only thing left was for your body to overcome the exhaustion so that you could wake up.
“How is she doing?” Anakin asked as he entered the medical facility, Rex, Ashoka and Cody, who had been released some days ago after receiving the all clear, all in tow.
“Still sleeping.” Obi-Wan sighed, his thumb brushing against the back of your hand.
“She’ll wake soon, Master.” Anakin assured as he sat on your other side, reaching up to brush a piece of hair back from your face.
Obi-Wan didn’t doubt Anakin’s words, he knew you were strong, knew that you’d push through but the waiting was agonising, all he wanted was for you to open your eyes, to see that you were ok.
You come back to wakefulness and the first thing you noticed was that you couldn’t feel any pain, a few aches here and there but nothing compared to the pain you had felt the last time you were awake and blessedly you couldn’t feel any more shocks.
You tried to pry your eyes open but found they wouldn’t cooperate which sent a spike of anxiety through you, you wanted to open them, wanted to see where you were and if you were safe, you wanted to know that Cody was ok.
A soft, quiet voice stopped you from attempting to open your eyes and you felt an overpowering sense of relief and happiness once you were able to identify just who the voice belonged to.
“I really do wish you’d wake up, Y/N.” He whispered, he wasn’t alone in his worry for you anymore. Your friends' worry grew with each passing day and the medical droids had been stumped after two weeks passed with no movement from you. “We all miss you. I miss you, Y/N, I miss you terribly despite being by your side everyday. I miss your laugh, I miss seeing your eyes, miss seeing them light up. I shouldn’t care so much for you, I know the Jedi would condemn me for having such an attachment to you but I find it impossible to stop myself when it comes to you. I wish I were brave enough to tell you but- that doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you get better. I should never have sent you to that base, I should have been by your side the way it has been since our first day together. I just- I really wish you’d wake up.”
You couldn’t move if you wanted to but in that moment you were glad you were frozen, not wanting a single twitch of your finger to cut Obi-Wan’s words off, not when they were the very ones you’d longed to hear.
You felt the gentle kiss pressed to the back of your hand, felt his thumb brushing against the same place but no more words left his lips. You didn’t mind, more content to feel his touch as it soothed your panic away over your frozen state.
Even if you couldn’t move yet, even if you couldn’t force your eyes to open, it didn’t matter. You knew you were safe, Obi-Wan had saved you and he was sitting by your side. Whenever Obi-Wan was around you knew you were safe, knew that no harm would come to you and that helped you drift off into an actual sleep for the first time in weeks.
The second time you woke you were worried you were still in that base, bound and waiting for any chance of rescue but then you felt the hand in yours and knew you were safe, knew Obi-Wan’s words and soft touches hadn’t been a dream but instead it was reality and you found this time around you could blink awake.
Your eyes were heavy and it took a few attempts to pry them open but eventually you managed, scrunching them shut against the bright lights in whatever room you were in, probably the medical facility if Obi-Wan had his way and you weren’t conscious to fight him over it.
You couldn’t stop the soft smile that spread across your face as you saw Obi-Wan, his hand was still holding yours but he was slumped over in the uncomfortable chairs the medical facility had, his head resting on the mattress next to your hip. You could see his face clearly and the dark circles under his eyes, had he stayed with you this whole time? That’s what he had said, right, ‘I miss you terribly despite being by your side everyday’.
Your smile grew wider until it was taken away as pain spread through your body as you tried to shift, Obi-Wan immediately sitting up, worry clear in his bleary eyes.
You saw the exact moment his sleep-addled mind recognised you were awake, watching as his eyes widened and he seemed to freeze, only able to stare at you in shock. The shock quickly faded into relief, his shoulders relaxing at seeing your eyes open for the first time in however long it had been.
“Y/N,” he said, the word so soft, barely a whisper like he was afraid he was dreaming this moment, like the second he spoke the scene would shift back to your unconscious body.
You couldn’t stop the tears that filled your eyes at hearing his voice. Even though you had seen him, seen the medical facility and knew Obi-Wan had saved you there was still some part of you that needed something more, needed to hear Obi-Wan again to know you were truly ok.
“It’s alright, Y/N,” Obi-Wan told you, keeping his voice soft as he watched tears flow uncontrollably down your cheeks. Sobs of relief, of fear, of overwhelment leaving you and he was quick to move from the chair to join you on the bed, enough room on it for him to lay down next to you and pull you into his chest. “You’re ok, I have you now.”
You clung to Obi-Wan’s robe, letting him surround you completely both in the Force and in person, his comforting, soothing presence letting you know just how safe you were. Obi-Wan’s whispered words of comfort, of praise, washed over you and you could do little else but lean into the man, letting him hold you, fingers running up and down your arm as he somehow pulled you even closer.
You couldn’t say just how long you lay there for just letting Obi-Wan hold you but eventually your tears turned into little sniffs. You made no move to pull away from him, attempting to burrow yourself deeper into his chest and smiling when you felt the man chuckle.
“You’re safe.” Obi-Wan promised you, mumbling the words into your hair before placing a soft kiss there. “I have you, you’re alright.”
“Obi-Wan,” you whispered into his chest, gripping the fabric of his robe even tighter in your fist, “Obi-Wan.”
“I’m here, dear one, I have you now.” Obi-Wan assured you.
“Thank you,” you said, repeated the words a few times before Obi-Wan shushed you, silencing you gently and bringing one hand up to cup the back of your head, playing with your hair causing you to relax further into him, eyes falling closed knowing you could drift off again safe in the man’s arms, knowing no harm could come to you so long as were here.

Wait you're making a fic for your torgruta au?? Tell me more please
Yeah, I've been thinking about writing a fic about it for a while now. Most likely it's going to be a series of oneshots so I can hop around to different parts of the story I find interesting.
A lot of the ideas are coming from the hyena discord, so I can't claim them as my own. But they are just too good to pass up. Like togruta making infrasound with their montrals and constantly projecting their moods. So when Anakin first gets to the Temple he's constantly screaming for him mom at a pitch that only other togruta can hear.
I've decided that that's actually how he first meets Ahsoka. She hears him making his lost, scared, where's mom, where's family sounds and seeks him out to comfort him. Ahsoka would be about four here, and would have left Shili recently enough that she could still remember what those noises mean, even if Tatooine togruta sound different from Shili togruta. (to a Shili tog Anakin's distressed noises sound like he's being maimed, but that's just because of the generational trauma and general awfulness of being a togruta on Tatooine. What they would think of the vocalizations he makes when actually being maimed we will not think about)
So Anakin and Ahsoka end up growing up together right from the start, and the main reason Anakin is so insistent on being knighted early is so that Ahsoka can be his padawan. It's a private thought he has to himself at first, but as Ahsoka gets older and no masters are showing any interest in taking her on she starts to panic. Anakin tells her that he'll just have to get knighted before she ages out so that he can be her master. And then the Clone War starts and he realizes that keeping his promise means bringing her onto the battlefield with him where she could die and he's not sure if he'll be enough to keep her alive :)
Because Shmi is a togruta too she does not get bought by Cleigg Lars. I am just. not dealing with the implications of that. (Listen. I want to read Shmi's marriage to him as a good thing, but I have a very hard time doing that.)
Now, there's actually a comic (Legands, I think, not Disney canon) where Gardulla goes to Watto and tries to buy Anakin back after he wins the Boonta Eve Classic. So have some fun thoughts about what would have happened to Anakin if he hadn't gone with Qui-Gon.
In the fic, Gardulla goes to buy Anakin but of course he left with the Jedi, so Gardulla decides she'll take Shmi as payment for Watto's debts. After all, if Shmi already had one child who turned out to be a talented podracer, well, she might have more. Hence the younger sibling that comes about shortly after Anakin leaves.
When Anakin goes back to Tatooine because of the nightmares about his mom he finds out that Watto sold his mom back to Gardulla and has to go to her to buy his mom's freedom. Which would be traumatic, on multiple levels. Anakin finds out that a month before he arrived, Shmi tried to escape with the sister Anakin didn't know he had, and Gardulla had their chips detonated. Gardulla even gives him their triggered remotes as proof.
(Of course unbeknownst to Anakin, Shmi and the sister survived and are living with a village of other escaped togruta.)
A lot of canon still happens the same, including Anakin's fall, Order 66, Mustafar, etc. But when Bail Organa sees Ahsoka at Padme's funeral he tells her that he can take her to a mutual friend of theirs. Ahsoka thinks (hopes) it's Anakin at first, and is devastated when she realizes it's Obi-Wan (and then hates herself for feeling disappointment because she should be happy that Obi-Wan is still alive, but he's not Anakin, and this means that Anakin must be dead).
There's no Lars family and the Organas would have a harder time explaining a non-human daughter, so Ahsoka and Obi-Wan end up taking care of the twins. They eventually find their way to Tatooine because it's out of the Empire's notice and, well, because it's a connection to Anakin (Ahsoka's trying to hold onto anything she can that connects her to her brother and Obi-Wan is in his self-harming phase.)
And it's there that they eventually run into a little community of togruta and a woman who looks suspiciously like Anakin who has the last name Skywalker. But hey, Shmi gets to meet her grandkids at least. Even if it happens at the same time that she finds out that son she thought she'd sent away to a better life and hasn't seen in 13 years is dead. (Obi-Wan sees how much Anakin's death destroys Shmi and decides to never, ever tell her what he became. Vader will be his burden and it's a secret he will take to his grave. Anakin Vader is dead, and he'll save them from ever finding out how it really happened)
Of course, 15 years later Ahsoka goes to rescue some rebels from a walking death omen in black when she realizes the infrasound calls he's shrieking out of his mangled montrals is devastatingly familiar.

"Get to the bridge." Obi-Wan's hand comes to your face, a desperate look in his eye. Blaster shots and screams surrounded you, and you could feel the pure terror from the younglings behind you. It was overwhelming, but you tried your best to concentrate on what he was saying. "Don't wait for me. Get out, and go as far from here as you can."
"I won't leave you. I won't! I-" Shaking your head, you could feel the tears falling down, scalding your cheeks, and Obi-Wan's thumb brushed over, catching them like he always did. Breathing out, you tried to collect your mind. "What is happening?"
"Anakin. I need to get to him." Was all he said, but you could feel it. The young boy, Obi-Wan's padawan, had come back different this time. The last mission had changed him, somehow, but you could never imagine that this would be the result. "You must go. Take the younglings and go."
"I'll come back for you." He went to argue, but you were already moving, igniting your lightsaber and ushering the small group of children you had with you to the door. "I will come back."
Charging ahead, you could still hear the intense blaring of alarms coming from the speakers of the Jedi temple. There were flashes of lights, but you didn’t know what it meant, just that Obi-Wan told you to leave, and you trusted him. Troopers were shooting left and right, and you had no time to dwell on what was lost, on how many bodies you and the children passed by. You kept them behind you, striking out to take down three troopers guarding the next door. The children screamed, and you tried to calm them. They were only babies - the youngest could only just keep up on his own, stumbling his way through the middle of the group.
"I need you all to be very, very brave for the next fifteen minutes. Can you do that?" You had them standing off to the side, taking cover behind a wall and half blown off door.
"We can do it, Master." The oldest, only nine, stands at the front, arms protectively held in front of the younger ones. Another tear streams down your cheek at the sight.
"Of course you can. I know you can. We are going to get to the jet, the one we all used to watch the clones on perimeter check last week. Do you remember where that is?" All eight little faces nodded in understanding. Even at this age, you knew they would become great Jedi. "Okay, good. You stay here, and I will clear a path. Keep your minds open, and I will tell you when to run. The door will be unlocked. You go in and press the big red button, and it will take you to the safe base off-world. Now, when you get there-"
"But Master, you have to come with us!" A small boy calls from behind the arms of the oldest, his face bright red.
"I will try my very best, but Master Kenobi needs help, and I-" Swallowing the lump in your throat, you heard the blaster shots getting closer. "Get to that ship, press the red button, and go to the safe base. There will be people there that will help you."
"Yes, Master." They say in unison, and you reach out, squeezing them all in a short hug.
"You will all be amazing Jedi Knights one day, I know it. I am so proud to be one of your teachers." You turn and sprint down the hall, and feel your sadness turn to anger.
Red blaster shots sizzle and shatter against your blue saber, and you send them soaring straight back into their attackers. You swing and slice, using all that expert control you have honed over the past few years to cut the invaders into pieces. Your mind was full of screams, you could hear them even if you didn't know where they were coming from. Connections you had formed over decades were being ripped away, the Force running through your body feeling emptier by the second.
There was only one connection you were really focused on. You could still feel Obi-Wan; feel his heart racing as he ran through the halls on the other side of the temple. He hadn't told you everything, but he didn't need to. You could feel his genuine fear and guilt, and you knew it had to do with Anakin. That, and the way he gripped his lightsaber as he ran off, made you know this was serious.
The smell of death and burnt armour filled your senses, but you came up on the last trooper, not blinking as you took him down, and sent the strongest message you could to the kids, hoping they would run straight across the bridge and into the jet. From your position, you would be able to cover them with a blaster and watch them clear the bridge.
As eight little heads darted out and ran towards the jet, you saw three troopers come out the side door and start shooting immediately. Straight away, they shot at the children, without a second of hesitation. With your free hand, you froze the bullets in the air and sent them backwards, all the while laying out cover fire. The kids never stopped once, the perfect students they are, and disappeared into the jet. The sound of the engine roaring to life had you breathing a sigh of relief, shoulders sagging as you watched the jet disappear into the galaxy, getting far, far away from here. You had to trust the people they met on the other side would take care of them.
With the children out and safe, you only had one thing on your mind. You used the Force to fly yourself up a few levels, and you stopped when you felt him. He was fighting, and losing. You could tell, you could feel the way he was backing up, almost hitting a wall as troopers surrounded him. You had never moved faster in your life.
Not sparing a second you threw yourself into the fight, slashing at white armor and hearing the moans of pain of the troopers you didn't completely finish off. Blaster shots rang in your ears, and you felt Obi-Wan's hand yank your forearm down, saving your life as you ducked out of the way.
"I told you to leave." He shouted, his eyes looking at you with soft adoration. Even with the harsh words, nothing about his tone says he wanted you to listen.
"When have I ever done what you told me to do?" Spinning around, you fought the troopers back to back, blue and red lights filling your vision. Having him at your back, solid and still fighting, took your breath away. With all the death and destruction that had erupted, either of you could have easily been lost, but he was here, still fighting for the light.
As the troopers numbers thinned, you both took the opportunity to gain ground. You knew you couldn't stay here, there would be nothing left of the temple in a few hours. Fire was burning somewhere down the hall, and if you didn't get to a ship soon, the hope you were letting simmer in your chest would be flattened, and you would both die here.
Obi-Wan took down the last trooper in eye sight, and he turned to where you were looking. The entire temple was on fire. Everything you had worked for, everyone you knew was dead or dying, every personal affect, every night spent alone meditating, or falling asleep in Obi-Wan's arms; it had all happened here. Your life was being set ablaze, and you watched as a giant panel of wall finally gave in, cracking and falling through to the ground below.
Obi-Wan's hand linked into yours, fingers threading together. He stood in front of you, the bright orange fire to his back. He was a mess, ash and blood over his face. It was horrific, to look at him like that, but you realised in that moment how lucky you were. As everything burnt around you, as your world caved in, Obi-Wan stood in front of it all, prepared to shield you.
You leant in and kissed him. You could taste the salt of his tears mixed with your own, but he kissed you back anyways. It was desperate and pleading, begging for forgiveness from each other for whatever atrocities you had committed. He pulls away just for a second.
"I have to kill him." He sobs, and slams back into you, this time his head tucking into the crook of your neck. There were a thousand things you needed to do right now, but being here with him, holding him was about the only thing you wanted to do. You know he means Anakin, you can hear it in his mind, and you cry with him, standing as the sounds of crackling metal echo all around you.
If he never pulled away, you would have stayed right there. In his moment, where his mind was completely open to you, showing you just how much he needed you, you would have stood there and burnt to the ground with him. But this was Obi-Wan, and he would never give up.
"We should-" You nod, knowing, and take his hand again, both of you sprinting to the maintenance hull. The screaming has stopped completely, which was almost worse than before, because you might be the only two people still alive in the temple. “My ship. Up there.”
“It’s all nearly gone.” You say, breathless and heartbroken, giving one last look to the Jedi temple you called home.
“My love… we- Stars. We have to go.” He’s tugging on your arm, and he is about the only person in the entire galaxy that could get you to move. So you do, climbing into the cockpit, and when you finally pull away from the temple, you burst into tears, Obi-Wan still clinging to your hand.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
[three weeks later]
“Anything?” Obi-Wan shakes his head, banging the holo device on his hand.
“It must be the connection on this planet. We would know if they were...”
“We would know.” You had been trying to reach the off-world base for the past few weeks, but since landing on this small Outer Rim planet that neither of you even knew the name of, there had been no word of the younglings reaching them. You knew they had to lay low, stay off the grid as much as possible, so this is where you would wait. Stay safe, out of sight, and wait for word from the base.
“I fixed the compressor in the ship last night.” He puts the holo device down and stands, coming around the other side of the small fire you had made to sit next to you. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“I know. I couldn’t either. I listened to you cursing the transmission wires for half an hour.” He cracks a smile, the sight making you feel warmer than the fire is.
“You could have helped.” He nudges into you playfully with his arm, but doesn’t pull away, keeping himself as close to you as possible on the log seats.
“I was hoping you would come back to bed.” He stops breathing for a second beside you, swallowing hard. You love that even after all the years you have spent together in secret, you still have this effect over him. “You know, I was thinking...”
“Oh dear.”
“Shut up. I was thinking about how we always talked about doing this.” He cocks his head, an arm wrapping around the small of your back.
“Landing on a planet we have never heard of and listening to me fix compressors?” This time, you are the one to shove him, but your hand grabs the one of his snaked around your waist, and pulls him back.
“You are such a smart-ass. No, I mean getting away. Being alone. I always said you needed a holiday.”
“You did.” His head falls onto your shoulder, and you can’t help but press a kiss to his forehead.
“I always pictured us like this, spending hours doing nothing but being together. Not worrying who was watching, how we would look.” You drift into silence, realising that now there really wasn’t anyone who would reprimand you. Nothing of the Jedi order you knew was left, except for the man in front of you. This is what the last three weeks have been like. Both of you were so used to hiding what you held between you, you had never experienced being able to just be together.
The looming fear and devastation was more prevalent in the first two weeks, both of you just simply holding each other while you mourned the loss of everything you had ever known, but as this last week closes out, you have almost fallen into a new routine. Training, trying to make contact with the base, and touching each other in every spare moment, no prying eyes to shelter from. Back in the temple, you had never even spent a full night together. Usually, Obi-Wan would sneak into your quarters in the dead of night, hands sliding around your body, pulling you from sleep and driving you insane again and again, and just as you had gotten comfortable to sleep again, he would have to disappear, not able to risk being caught leaving in the morning.
Here, on this desolate, bright green planet, there was none of that. He laid next to you the entire night, and was there in the morning when you woke, watching as the sun rose and lit up his face. The only time he really slept was just when the sun was rising, like he knew he wouldn’t have time to dream.
“We need to go for water tomorrow. I saw a lake overhead when we were landing. We will have to check the traps from yesterday as well, the ones near the mountain.” His head had turned so his nose was lightly touching the crook of your neck, his words kissing their way across the sensitive skin. It made you shiver, and Obi-Wan looked up slightly, his lips just an inch from your neck. “Are you cold?”
“If I say yes, will you come closer?” You feel him laugh against you, and his other arm comes across him to touch your waist.
“I don’t think I could get any closer, my love.”
“I can think of a few ways.” You expect a gasp of surprise, like you so usually got from him. Even after all your time together, he was still almost shocked when you came on to him. Instead, though, he presses a kiss to your collarbone, and you almost melt into the floor.
“I will never be able to thank you enough, for coming back for me.” He kisses you again, a little higher up this time, and your brain buzzes. It was the first time since you landed that he had brought the night up.
“It- Obi-Wan. Of course I would come for you, I couldn’t-” His teeth graze against your skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake. “You are the only person I could focus on. The only one I tried to hear.” His hands tightened on your waist, and he pulled you into his lap in one movement. Your shins were slightly digging into the wood on either side of his body, but his mouth on you had you forgetting all about it.
“You are all I can think about. I needed to know you were safe, and then you came back and I thought-”
“If you say you thought I would die, I’ll hit you.” He nips at the most sensitive spot of your neck in reprimand, and you moan as he kisses and sucks, leaving marks in a way that has you squirming.
“My sweet girl.” You hear him murmur against your skin, and you thread your fingers in his hair. You rock your hips just once, and he moans loudly against your neck.
“Obi, if you want to talk about it-”
“I don’t want-” He kisses your jaw “to talk. What I want-” He switches sides “-is” kissing slightly higher, nearly on your cheek “-to hear you say my name. How you do when I-”
“Oh, fuck Obi-Wan.” His hand had slipped right in between your bodies, fingers lightly brushing along your core, already finding you soaking for him.
“When I do that.” Your mind was putty in his hands, and he applied a little more pressure as his lips found yours. He kissed you deeply, with the kind of force that reminds you just how long it’s been since he’s done so. You give him everything you have, needing to tell him so much, but not having the words. He stands and steps over the log, a squeal of surprise making you break the kiss, and he laughs. The sound is soft behind the crackling of the fire, and you tuck your head into his neck, the smell of fire, wood and him filling your senses.
“Walk faster.” Your hands grab his jacket harshly and pull, and he stops halfway up the ramp to the ship.
“I could just drop you.” He’s still not moving, so you move your hands off his jacket and grab his face, pulling him into a kiss. Your tongue moves with his, easily taking control in his surprised state, and soon you feel him moving so fast you could swear he was sprinting, nearly slamming you both into the rear wall. You can’t stop the smile that breaks the kiss, and his teeth bite down softly on your bottom lip, snapping your attention back.
He snakes a hand up behind your head to duck you down as you walk through the doorway to your shared room. This ship was Obi-Wan’s, so there was only one bed, but considering how you have been sneaking into each others rooms like teenagers for two years, the sight is a welcomed one.
He lays you down gently, slotting himself between your legs and crawling back up to your mouth, kissing you slow and sweet. You moan into him, his hips rolling against you, and the kiss breaks when he opens his mouth to say your name.
“I-” His eyes were wide, almost like he was panicking, pupils flitting all over your face. “You need- I love you. You know that I love you, yes?”
“Of course. I love you, too.” Your eyebrows furrow at his worry, and he squeezes his eyes shut to kiss you before pulling away abruptly. “What’s wrong?”
“If I were here with anyone else, I would be lost. Everything is gone, and nothing would be- nothing would make sense. Being a Jedi is all that I am. Without it, I had nothing. Until you.” You nearly cry at his words, but he rolls his hips again and it makes you see stars. He begins to take his jacket off. “You are everything to me. I want you to know that. You are the reason I am able to think, to think of something after all of this. To even think of living a life after so much…” He fades off, struggling to focus with how your hand is tugging at the hem of his pants.
“I know, Obi-Wan.” You did. Through the Force, you could feel everything. His grief at losing Anakin, his grief at losing everyone, losing the life he has known. The anger at the Sith, the dark side, at himself. You could feel his sadness, the waves of it as it came and went, but most of all, you could feel his heart, and how it beat for you, and only you.
Everything he was, everything you both were has been taken, but the one thing they could not take is this. You let him feel your energy, how you understand him, understand all that he is feeling and mirror it in your own heart, and he begins to take your shirt over your head.
“You are gorgeous, my love.” He looms over you, taking his time drinking in the sight below him, but denies himself from running his hands over you. He wants to wait, wants you desperate and whining for him. You can read his mind now, you always could like this, just as he could read yours.
There must be something about being with another Jedi, especially ones as connected as you and Obi-Wan, but it was like the doors to your minds were pulled down, and you became one. It had always been like that between you, even from the first time.
Rough fingertips scrape just barely along the skin above your jeans, and he undoes the buttons and slides them down painfully slow, all the while he has you fidgeting, trying to hurry the process. He sits back on his knees to take his own shirt off, and as soon as he leans down on his forearms to kiss you again, you take the chance and run your hands down his back, almost massaging with long strokes.
“My sweet girl. So good to me.” He was rolling his hips harder, having you arching your back to meet him while he moved his mouth down your neck.
“Anything you want, Obi. I’m here.” He sighs and leans most of his body weight on top of you, and you can feel him finally start to relax. You know you both should be concentrating on a million other things right now, dealing with your grief and confronting the hazy path of your futures, but right now all you wanted was to be with him, and you could hear in his mind how very badly he echoed the same thought.
He laughed as you fidgeted below him, a sound you were worried for a while would be lost forever, and it warmed every part of your bare skin. Hands tangled in hair, his body pressing into yours, your minds bleeding into one space neither of you had full control over. You were both completely at each other’s mercy, the ultimate equals in this moment.
“Please.” You breathed into him, and although he loved nothing more than taking the utmost time with you, you were both just as desperate to be close to each other. This fragile thing was the life raft you clung to in the darkness of the Force, and he was what drove you back to the light.
He kisses you again, and you feel his hand trailing softly down your tummy, over each ridge and curve like he wants to feel every part of you, remind himself you were here, warm and alive and practically panting for him. He guided himself into you slowly, as he always did, eyes never leaving yours. You both sigh in relief and ecstasy as he hits the deepest part of you, and you can see how Obi-Wan's eyebrows knit together, how his mouth opens just slightly to breathe your name before attaching to your neck. He leaves a trail of proof he was there down to your breasts, sliding out of you and setting a slow, earth shattering pace.
One of his hands comes back up your body to lock his fingers in your own, and he plants a soft kiss on your brow before catching your eye.
“I love you.” He gasps and thrusts into you again, getting a little faster when he hears your desperate sounds.
“Stars- I love you. Always.” The hand not holding yours slips underneath your arched back, forearm bracing you as he increases his speed.
“Does this feel good, love?” Your lip between your teeth muffled your response, a strained ‘mhmm’ ending off in a moan of his name. He kisses you again, the hand locked with your own squeezing gently, making your eyes open. “Fuck. That’s it.”
“S’huh?” You were so blissed out, you had no idea what he was saying or what he wanted you to do, but your eyes nearly crossed when he picked up the pace again, the sound of him hitting you impossibly deeper almost drowned out in the sound of you screaming his name.
“Kee-eep. Keep saying my name.” He groans into your ear, body tightening against yours.
“Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan.” It’s the only word you can say, all you can think of as he sets your body alight, each drag of his cock making every nerve ending stand on the edge. You weren’t going to last much longer, and managed to say his name one final time before you toppled into your release.
With a gasp he cums straight after you, the feeling of your warmth squeezing tight around him mixed with the euphoria you projected through the Force all too consuming. He knew he sounded desperate, the way he moaned out your name, but you stroked his hair and held him, rocking your hips in time with his as you both rode through your highs at the same time. It was as close to being on spice as Obi-Wan would ever get, and he doubted anything but you would make him feel this good.
“You are truly the most beautiful person I have ever seen.” Obi-Wan whispers in your ear, and you can see his eyes caressing down your body, liquid heat spreading through your veins under his gaze even in the darkness. He kisses your collarbone, and you know there are hickeys there, but you were on a desolate planet with no one to see you, and you would wear them with pride anyways.
“I love you, Obi-Wan. We will figure this out. You and me. I promise.” He lays down beside you, and you tuck a lock of his hair behind his ear.
“With you, I have no doubt.” His face disappears from view as he tucks himself into you, head buried under your chin. He’s saying something but you can no longer hear it, just the feeling of his words, the vibration of it against the base of your throat, and knowing he was there is enough to send you to sleep. You wake before him, to the holo device beeping rapidly. It’s a message, confirming all eight children had made it safely to the base, and they would wait for your reply on their next move.
When Obi-Wan woke, there was more messages on the holo device than you could keep up with. Scattered Jedi and allies all over the galaxy, confirming their position, and waiting for orders. You looked at Obi-Wan, face framed by the morning sunlight, and smiled.
“Well, what do we tell them?” You asked, and watched as that stern, council like look fell over his face. A mountain of ideas poured from his chest, like he had been saving them up, and the smile never left your face as he pulled the ship into space, speeding you into the light.

Mandos and Jedi Are Just Dancing Shadows
PROLOGUE
Tarre Vizsla.
The Jedi Mandalorian.
Manda'lor the Uniter.
One thing history loves to forget is that Alor Vizsla had a child.
A foundling.
His padawan.
Mandalore forgot her. The Jedi remember her, but do wish to acknowledge she existed.
She Just disappeared one day.
Ironic the clan that lost its way, never forgot her.
YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO YOUR BUIR. NOW LOOK WHERE YOU ARE YOU FOOLISH CHILD.
the force was uneasy-unsure-confused
This wasn't supposed to happen.
Well this will change things won't it.
CHAPTER ONE
"Buir! Buir!" Atin shouted from the end of the lengthy corridor. "There's something over here!"
"Careful, don't touch anything Atin." Tarre warned knowing Atin's habit of get into trouble.
Did she listen? No. She did not.
"Elek buir." Atin rolled her eyes as she continued to get closer to glowing holocron. It sang to her through the force.
Come closer young one
Atin slowly reached for the glowing holocron. It pulsed underneath her fingers as she touched it.
"ATIN NO!" Tarre bellowed for Atin.
Too late.
"Buir!" Atin screamed as a bright light consumed her whole being, beskar and all.
"Buir!" Atin shouted. Her voice echoing of the walls of a now empty and crumbling version of the corridor she was just in.
"Buir?" Atin whispered as her voice shook. Her eyes tracing the vines that now decorate the walls that surround her.
Not a soul responds. The walls start to suffocate from the vines as the corridor became an abyss. The walls cried of loss and bloodshed.
Atin stared where her father once stood. There was no evidence that he was ever there. Her chest tightened as the silnce became to loud for her bare. She couldn't keep her buy'ce on it was becomeing to tight to breath. She quickly pried it off as she cradled it in her arms.
The quiet started closing like a pack of rapid strills.
Where is buir?
WHAT DID THAT THING DO?
"Hello?" A deep voice called. "Who's over there?"
"Over here!" Atin yelled. Manda please be some one that will help.
A jedi emerged wielding a violet blade, he shined bright with in the force. "What is a Mandalorian doing here? What is your name young one?"
"Atin Vizsla, Padawan of Tarre Vizsla."
Truth rang through out the force. A large shatterpoint crashed as the young padawan introduced herself.
"Do you know where you are, young one?" Master Windu asked.
"A jedi temple? The one me and buir were sent to." Atin dragged confused on why he was asking her this.
"Tarre Vizsla reported you missing almost 900 years ago." Master Windu explained. "What happened?"
There was silence as Master Windu watched Atin collapse to the floor. She was in complete shellshock. More shatterpoints started to form around her.
"No. NO. I should have listened to him." Atin started panicking. "I touched that thing over there because it started singing in the force and now I'm here. Buir told me not to touch it yet I still touched it!"
Master Windu observed what looked like a holocron. It wasn't Sith nor was it Jedi. It was older than both. It felt like a vacuum that refused to close.
"Let's get you back to the temple and talk to the council about this." Master Windu groaned rubbing his temples.
Atin couldn't understand why the holocron sent her almost 900 years into the future.
She stood in the middle of the council chambers staring at her feet. Listening. Waiting.
"We can't have a Mandalorian in the order! They're terrorists!" one cried.
"She is also still a padawan of this order." Master Windu snapped.
"Her father attched she is." Yoda added.
"With all due respect don't I get a say in this?" Atin interrupted. "I am just as much of a jedi as I am a Mandalorian."
She glared at the green troll. Everyone could tell this was going to be difficult.
"And what do you mean Mandalorians are terrorists?"
"There have been several recent cases of Mandalorians attacking Jedi Knights and some younglings."
"Those are not Mandalorians! Those are dar'manda, and those who kill younglings are demgolkas and hut'uun!" Atin growled. There was an air of finality.
"Well if you want to continue your padawanship, you will need another master." Master Windu began. "The council has come to descion that a council member would be best since they would know your background."
"Ok." Atin sighed defeated. This was the only way.
"Master Plo Koon has volunteered to take over your teaching."
"Who is Plo Koon?"
"That would be me." A kel dor spoke up.
"I accept." Atin replied with a resigned tone.
THE SUN HAS BEGUN TO SHINE
DO NOT LET IT BURN YOU

im choosing ignorance for right now but will cover it at the end of this (this being a whole essay 💀)
So, it looks like Baylan has a green kyber crystal in his belt. This post and others have pointed it out
Tumblr media
Obviously, this begs the question of whom did it belong to? Immediately the thought would be Baylan’s. He was a padawan of the Jedi Order, trained into knighthood, and eventually a general during the Clone Wars. He created his own lightsaber hilt and (maybe, idrk exactly how it works forgive me) chose his own crystal. And, even if he didn’t, it was still a part of who he was for that portion of his early life.
We learned last episode he misses the idea of the Order. With Baylan, there’s a heavy amount of sentimentality associated with the Jedi, especially if we believe (which I do wholeheartedly) that he lost a padawan.
But that’s what begs the other question—is the crystal from his padawan? Did he take it from his padawans lightsaber and keep it for himself to carry on the memory of that kid (who i like to think was a female but that’s the girldad lover in me speaking)? Was it motivated by grief? Has he allowed himself to grieve at all, and if not, was taking the crystal his way of avoiding that emotion?
Or was it motivated by grief? There is no emotion, only peace. Is that when he ditched the code? How could he have any sort of peace after losing his padawan? Or, did he find that peace in keeping the crystal?
But then there’s my other question—what’s the significance of it? Dave Filoni, from what I’ve seen, is intentional. I don’t think adding what looks like a green kyber crystal in Baylan’s belt is just some sort of happenstance that didn’t have any thought behind it.
And, with Baylan’s character, it’s way too significant. When it comes to how he feels about the Jedi, how he seems to actually feel a little bad about having to kill Ahsoka in episode 2. His relationship with Shin. The padawan braid. It all screams significance to me.
So, when it comes to significance, what role is it going to play by the end of the show? I really cannot see it being included and making Baylan’s character so nuanced and intriguing and then not doing anything with it.
Mundi and I were talking about this earlier today. I mentioned these main two points, but also this-
Tumblr media
And then Mundi had to drive the stake further through my heart and twist it around by basically saying what if Baylan’s dying act was giving Shin his crystal (still thinking about this mundi THANKS)
I said a stretch at first, but it doesn’t seem too far-fetched anymore (except for her becoming fully good). Now, I don’t want Baylan to die. He’s the last character I want to die and I love him, BUT…
How he dies? I have no idea. Thrawn, Morgan, Enoch? Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra? Betrayed by Shin? (very doubtful i feel) I think there’s a lot of options of how it could happen, if the cards are played right.
So if we think that’s the case, Shin is around when he dies or mortally wounded. Maybe she sees it happen to him like how he saw it happen to his last padawan. Shin is distraught, the most emotion we see from her because, well, it’s Baylan who’s trained her and borderline raised her, and they have a moment together before he passes. Baylan makes her take the crystal (which would hit a lot harder if it is his original one and did not belong to his padawan) and they have some sappy goodbye that’ll have me crying for six weeks.
We’ve also all talked about how Shin and subtext from some of her lines that indicates some sort of… longing or curiosity regarding the Jedi. If, within the last two episodes, those are confirmed or it’s revealed that Baylan could sense that feeling in Shin, i think (assuming he does die in this way) giving her his crystal makes sense.
Maybe she keeps it as sentimental in her own belt as I don’t see her turning fully to the Light in the show. But, if there’s another season, who knows.
Going back four paragraphs, I believe if it were Thrawn or Morgan who killed him or orchestrated his death, Shin would not follow them back. She’d go with Ahsoka and the Gang TM home in the purrgil mouths. She clearly hates Peridea and, if Ahsoka and the crew are there to witness Baylan’s death (for whatever reason), they could have sympathy on Shin maybe and help her home.
OK. I hope that covered those thoughts in a somewhat coherent fashion. Here’s where that chosen ignorance comes in.
Tumblr media
Shin’s braid. An anon actually sent a link to a tweet with both this AND the Baylan one in one post, so thank you nonnie for that!
Anyway. Shin’s braid. Three (four?) green kyber crystals.
Why.
Did they, for some reason, come from Baylan? Did he just have a cluster of them and he gave her a few to include in her braid?
If the braid was her idea, did she want them included in it? Did they still come from Baylan if that’s true? Did she want to feel that connected to the Jedi from the start of her apprenticeship with Baylan to include them in her braid?
If the braid was Baylan’s idea, did he include them? Weave them through the strands? Did he talk to her about including them? Including crystals in a padawan braid wasnt traditional, to my knowledge (not that they are traditional jedi). Was it some sort of selfish choice? Was the ghost of his padawan still lingering in the middle of these two that he felt he had to?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN. WHY ARE THEY THERE. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE.
I NEED THEIR WHOLE STORY RIGHT NOW

For them, for us [5] (Obi-wan Kenobi x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Following the Kenobi series, two former Jedi masters Obi-wan Kenobi and Y/n Marilla are grieving the lost of Anakin, Padme, and the jedi purge. After pledging to watch over Luke Skywalker and spending ten years in exile and making a life together, what will happen when the mistakes they made in their past come back as a new threat?
Warnings: Violence, injuries, signs of PTSD (dissociation), flashbacks (shut up I have a problem), light fluff??, idk I think all the serious warnings are out of the way.
Authors Note: We’re getting closer to the end!! not that close tbh I plan to make a chapter or two more before its over and since each chapter is about 20 pages.... lets just see there will be more of Y/n and Obi-wan! but if you are liking the series so far and want to be on the taglist please comment down below!
Prologue - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
“You're a great Warrior, Anakin, but your need to prove yourself is your undoing.”
You had been training with Anakin and Obi-wan at his request to learn more about fighting other force users outside the familiar techniques of his master and you happily obliged. Anakin and you were similar in many ways; stubborn and lacking some emotional stability but fierce and loyal almost to a fault. Anakin kept you on your toes, the padawan unpredictable to the point it created a vortex of adrenaline and joy to engage in a duel with.
The Coruscanti sun was high in the bright blue sky as a light breeze blew in through the open training area as Obi-wan stood across from Anakin, holding his young apprentice's lightsaber after successfully disarming him.
“Until you overcome that,” Obi-wan said, deactivating the lightsaber and handing it back to Anakin. “A padawan you will still be.”
You saw Anakin's face fall at his words, although you know Obi-wan's words rang true, Anakin has been training very hard and it seemed Obi-wan could not bring himself to praise the younger boy even though it's very clear he is seeking it.
Obi-wan smiled as Anakin patted his shoulder as they walked up to you,  leaning against the wall with a content face as Obi-wan came up to you.
“Care for some tea, Y/n?” Obi-wan offred and you shook your head.
“Not today Obi-wan,” you declined politely. “But I would like to steal your padawan for a moment, if you don't mind.” Obi-wan and Anakin shared a look before you chuckled.
“I just want to give Anakin a few tips, nothing serious I promise.”
“Ah, I see.” Obi-wan nodded, ever so full of poise. “That is fine with me, I will see you both later I assume?”
You and Anakin nodded and Obi-wan shot Anakin a look that screamed ‘Behave’ before he left the room, you turned to Anakin and waved him over.
“What tips did you want to give me, Master Y/n?” Anakin asked, not hiding the dread on his face as he prepared for another lecture.
“Besides the fact your ponytail is coming loose? Nothing.” you said, placing your hands on the taller boy's shoulder and turning him around. Taking out the stretched out tie holding the grown out honey brown locks, finger combing the slight tangles in his hair before retying his hair back.
“Much better.” you hummed. “These ties are absolutely vile, I’ll give you some of the ones I made the next time I see you.”
“I'm sorry Master, I'm confused.” Anakin said, turning back to face you. “You have no tips for me?”
You clicked your tongue as you crossed your arms.
“I was finding Obi-wan’s tough love act a tad annoying today, so I wanted to pull you aside and tell you how good you're doing. Against Obi-wan's belief I don't think giving you a little praise for your hard work will overfeed your ego.” you teased lightly, enjoying  the slight tinge of pink bloom across his face.
You grinned at his slight embarrassment and patted his bicep.
“You are doing very well Anakin, you're much farther in your training than I was when I was your age in fact I was having almost weekly meetings with the council.”
That fact caught Anakin's attention, his brow rising  in interest ever so slightly.
“How come?”
“It took me a long time to control my emotions, I was impulsive and reacted with my heart instead of my brain more often than not and the council did not approve of me for a long time.” you shrugged.
You still did most of those things even as a master but not to the point it caught the attention of the council like it did when you were younger.
“What i'm trying to say Ani, is that i'm very proud of you and the man you are becoming and no matter how much Obi-wan acts like he doesnt think the same it is in vain because he is also very proud of you.” you smiled at Anakin's face of doubt. “Trust me, what do you think we discuss over our daily tea breaks?”
“Perhaps the very obvious feelings you have for each other?” Anakin teased and you scoffed when it was your turn to blush and ignore the statement
“You're on your way to becoming a wonderful Jedi, perhaps the best of us.” you said, patting a gentle hand on his young cheek.
“I- Thank you master.” Anakin stuttered out.
“No problem, shall we go watch Obi-wan's face when he finds out I stole the rest of his tea this morning?”
Anakin grinned widely.
“Absolutely.”
You woke up from your dream to a hand on your face and the soft call of your name. you blinked tiredly as your eyes adjusted to the light around the ship and saw Obi-wan crouched in front of you. His knuckles grazed gently across your face as your brain woke up.
“Hey, are we back on Jabiim?” you asked, voice groggy as you sat up.
“We’re landing right now,” he said.
On cue the ship clanked loudly on the ground as it landed, jostling you a little bit as you stood up. You saw Leia standing behind Obi-wan, she hasn't left his side much since they first got on the ship, she looked up at you and waved.
“You look like you fell out of a tree.” she observed.
You frowned and looked at Obi-wan, his lips quirked up just slightly as he reached up and smoothed out your hair that had fallen out of your braid.
“Is that better, Princess?” you grumbled.
“Yes it is.”
You heard the hatch to the ship open and the three of you followed Roken out, you could hear the hushed whispers of the others outside.
“We got her.” Roken announced as Obi-wan led Leia down the ramp,  you followed suit as the crowd let out relieved sighs, happy to know the empire didn't find out about their plans. Tala went straight to Ned-B and Sully went to her friends, but you recognized a peculiar face in the large crowd.
“Haja!” you exclaimed as he walked up to your small group.
“Haja, what are you doing here?” Obi-wan asked.
Haja shrugged.
“I had nowhere else to go, right after I saw you, I got into a fight with that scary inquisitor lady and now I'm wanted by the empire.” he smiled slyly. “But now, I know what it feels like being a real jedi.”
“Not as fun as you thought, huh?” you said.
“No” Haja frowned. “It's not easy, the place has a good business opportunity though.”
You rolled your eyes and shoved him away gently.
“Don't you dare!” you called after him as he walked away.
Obi-wan urged Leia to go play with the other kids while the two of you went to speak to Roken, maneuvering around multiple people before you found Roken.
“Roken,” Obi-wan called out. “That transport, we need to get back to Alderaan.”
“Once we get all these people out of here I'll do whatever you want, they've been waiting for months. We used an old trade route to get them out but the windows are closing, we only have a few hours.”
You looked around, parents comforting their scared children, friends helping each other pack frantically, people helping the older people with anything they needed. You weren't the only people desperate to get home, to somewhere safe.
“Of course Roken.” you said. “We’ll do anything we can to help.”
As Roken went to help others you wandered around the small hectic base. Helping the occasional child shove one more item they insisted they needed into their small pack filled to the brim and helping Tala load the transport with food and medical supplies. The anxious shuffling from everyone's feet made the dust from the ground rise up, creating the slightest haze in the air made an annoying itch appear in the back of your throat.
When you found Obi-wan standing in front of the wall of carvings you hovered behind him slightly, watching him read the hopeful messages from formors Jedi and survivors from the last few years.
“Seeing those makes me feel a little less alone.” you said softly, coming to his side.
Obi-wan looked over at you before he turned back to the wall, his piercing blue eyes scanning over the carvings as if they held a secret in them.
“The light will fade, but it's never forgotten.” he muttered to himself and you would never say it outloud but the words reminded you of him. The light in his eyes had faded drastically since everything had happened, you didn't blame him for that and you still loved him dearly but you would never forget the man he was.
You were sure he thought the same about you as well.
A loud rumble above you pulled you from your thoughts, looking up you saw the doors that allowed the transport to come in and out close.
“Oh no,” you said with dread.
You and Obi-wan ran back to everyone else, people now scrambling around frantically more than before.
“What's happening?” Obi-wan asked.
“The controls aren't responding.” Sully said panicked.
“And an imperial destroyer just arrived in orbit above us.” Roken added.
“She must've tracked us.” Tala said and you shook your head.
“It's not her, it's Vader.” you swallowed.
“He wants us to surrender.”
“If we surrender, he'll kill us all.” Sully said.
“No, he’ll attack next. He hasn't the patience for a seige.” Obi-wan corrected.
“How do you know?” Roken asked.
You and Obi-wan shared a worried look.
Because Anakin Skywalker never practiced patience during a single day of his Jedi career and you were sure that trait did not burn away with him when he became a sith. That was the only thing that was predictable about him in battle.
Obi-wan watched you and Anakin now, slowly circling each other like a lion watching its prey around the rounded shape of the room. You kept yourself relaxed, keeping a calm stride in front of the younger boy but kept your lightsaber ready. While Anakin was practically vibrating with energy, his legs twitching as if they were warming up to attack or run.
For Anakin it was always an attack.
“There's your first mistake, Anakin.” you pointed out. “Your presentation.”
Anakin raised a brow as he continued to sidestep.
“What about it?”
“Anxious and defensive, even before anyone strikes and even when you always strike first.”
“I do not.”
You could hear Obi-wan's faint snort behind you.
“You do, you hate anticipation.” you said. “The first hit can tell you a lot about a person and their instincts,  how they attack and how they handle themselves; The first strike provides a small advantage but if you wait and then strip those advantages? Better odds at winning.”
“Do you truly believe a real enemy will wait to attack? Come on Master Y/n even that is foolish thinking.” Anakin replied.
“It's not hesitation as much as it's calculation, as a former fool I can confidently say fools rush in and the wise wait.”
You stopped walking, and dropped your guarded stance, your lightsaber coming to your side now, and you saw that twitch in his leg again and you sighed.
Every single word you just said went in one ear and out the other.
Right on cue Anakin came at you, arms raised with his lightsaber above his head so he can swing down at you. Stepping under his arms, you appeared behind him, your legs moving quickly to do a back kick, your foot planting right into the center of his spine and making him stumble.
“Right there!” you exclaimed, bringing your leg down as Anakin turned back to you. “You aimed high, struck quickly and at my head. Now I know your advantage is in your upper body strength. While you know none of mine!” you activated your lightsaber and blocked Anakin's attempt at a sudden attack. Your lightsabers crackled excitedly as you shoved him back. He reacted quickly and swung out his blade in a wide arc, using the force to elevate your jump. You leapt over his blade, your feet pounded loudly on the ground when you landed.
“Anakin, you're not listening!” You scolded him.
Obi-wan turned to the worried crowd, his shoulders straightened as the familiar look of the confidant negotiator; calm, eloquent, and steadfast. A glimpse of the younger Obi-wan you knew years ago shining through for a moment.
“Everyone,” Obi-wan spoke loudly, grabbing the attention of the others. “Everyone, I understand you're scared. The empire will attack soon. they're stronger than us, better equipped, better trained. If we try to fight them we will not survive.”
Okay, you could've been wrong about the old Obi-wan shining through, his attempt at a speech making you grow more uneasy than before.
“But we do not need to fight them. We just need to hold them off long enough to get you all out.”
Obi-wan turned to Roken.
“Roken, how much time do you need to override the doors?”
“Three, four hours.”
“You have one.” Obi-wan asserted. “And block every other remote access.” Obi-turned his attention back to the crowd.
“Everyone else, we're gonna lock down every other entrance in this facility. If we defend our position together…Then by the time they get inside, we’ll be gone.”
Roken clapped his hands together once.
“You heard him. let's move it people!”
You went to help the others seal the doors around the facility for the next hour, using the singing heat from your lightsaber to weld the metal to the doors. When you were welding the last piece to one of the main access points a large shot slammed against it, the force of it denting the mental slightly as you stumbled back.
You ran to Obi-wan, Tala, and Roken.
“It's a heavy gun, they're trying to blast through the outside door.”
“Roken, we need those doors open.” Tala said as Roken tapped on his datapad. The gears above you strained loudly as it tried to separate but ultimately groaned to a stop.
“That was underwhelming.” Haja groaned.
“Wonderful input Haja!” you exclaimed sarcastically at Haja who pointed at the vents.
“Has anyone gone into the vents to see what was going on?”
“No, last I checked were a bunch of fully grown adults who wouldn't even be able to fit halfway if we wanted to!”
“I'm going to need a ladder!” Leia said, walking confidently up to Roken.
“It's not playtime right now, Princess.” He dismissed and you were about to interject when Obi-wan beat you to the punch.
“Do as she asks.” Obi-wan said.
Roken looked at Obi-wan with a mixture between shock and annoyance.
“You trust me? I trust her.”
You smirked at that and looked over at Roken.
“You heard the man, get her a ladder!”
You kneeled down in front of Leia while she pulled the gloves Obi-wan got her out of her pocket. Reaching up you dusted a smudge of dirt on her face and held her face between your hands.
“Be careful, Leia.”
“Y/n.” Obi-wan said, catching your attention. Looking over your shoulder he showed you the blinking hologram notification. Frowning, you left Leia and went to Obi-wan who told Haja to watch Leia before the two of you ran off the listen to the message in private.
  🖾
“...If I don't hear from you soon I will head to Tatooine, Owen will need help with the boy. I pray you're safe Obi-wan and Y/n, all three of you.”
The hologram faded leaving you in silence as you stood by the bacta tank, Obi-wan finding comfort in his nervous habit of stroking his beard while you picked at the skin around your nails. You felt bad about leaving Bail in the dark while you were trying to get his daughter home, but it was too much effort to send constant holograms out while you're being hunted by the empire and now the possibility of Luke being hunted after left you with an unpleasant taste in your mouth.
“Is everything all right?” Tala asked, walking up to the two of you. Obi-wan gave her an uneasy smile.
“It will be.” he tried to say with confidence but the nervous demeanor of him crossing his arms and looking at the ground told a different story.
“You know, I was following orders on Gareal. The empire had said it was a round up of people not paying their taxes for the cause…They lied.” Tala said bitterly. “There were four families, all force sensitive. We gathered them up-I didn't know who they were. I didn't know what the inquisitors would do.”
“Tala-” you tried to comfort.
“Fourteen people died that day, six of them children. I couldn't do anything to help them so now I do this.” Tala reached for her holster and pulled the blaster out, inside of it you can see tiny dashes on the lining, white and short in a long line. “One for everyone I get through.”
You looked at her with sadness, but also with understanding. Tala understood the pain of watching innocent children die, unable to do anything except stand by and watch in horror as people don't get to live another day while you get to go to bed at night.
“You were right, Ben, some things you can't forget but you can fight and make them better.” Tala said with such earnestness it comforted you. Maybe it was possible to move on from this.
You stepped forward and pulled her in a tight hug, your arms squeezing her tightly and rocked her back and forth slightly. Tala was stiff in your arms, her body acting unnatural as if she hasn't received a hug from a human in a long time.
The hug ended when Roken ran in
“Were In trouble!”
You ran back to the main area, explosions making crumbles of rock fall from the ceiling, landing in your hair as you looked around. Men, women, and even children were armed with blasters and rifles, some even holding ballistic shields in front of the smaller children as another explosion shook the ground again.
“I don't know how long it's going to hold, do we have a plan B here?” Roken said, loading up his rifle.
“We’re going to have to slow them down.” Obi-wan said. “Tell the inquisitor I want to talk.”
“No.” You said sternly. “Tell her we want to talk.” you gave Obi-wan a look that said loud and clear not to fight you on this. He nodded, remembering your deal.
Together, as a team.
“We’ll buy as much time as we can.” Obi-wan told Roken.
🖾
You and Obi-wan walked out to the outside door, unsure if the third sister was standing on the other side of the metal or not. Leaning forward you pressed your ear against it, trying to listen for anyone on the other side.
“If this is you stalling for time, it won't work.” the third sister said quietly. “Lord Vader will have you at any cost.”
You moved quickly, trying to secretly work your way into her mind with the force. Searching for anything that can give you a hand at a negotiation or even a distraction, but her walls were tall, almost unreachable as you digged around.
“You mean, Anakin.” Obi-wan corrected. “You knew who Vader was, how did you know that?”
The only response he received was silence.
“Vader would have kept that hidden, and you're too young to have known him.”
Even as you put all your focus looking into the third sister's mind, you could feel a faint wave of realization roll off from Obi-wan's returning force signature.
“Unless….Unless you were there.”
“I doesn't matter where I was-”
“The night of Order 66, you were a youngling.” Obi-wan exclaimed. “That's how you know, you saw him.”
“Stop.” she muttered.
“Anakin killed the others.”
“Stop.” she repeated.
“He killed the other younglings but somehow you survived-”
“Enough!.” she shouted, desperation slipping through.
There, that single second of emotion slipped through giving you enough time to grasp onto one thing.
Reva, that was her name.
“We thought he was there to help us.” Reva began. “I tried to help them but I couldn't, I was too weak. I played dead until he left and hid with the bodies, felt them go cold…they were the only family I knew.” she shuddered. “And he slaughtered them.”
“You're not serving him, are you?” Obi-wan asked. “You're hunting him, let us help you.”
“Why would I ever trust you?” she spat
“Because we want the same thing.”
“Do we, Obi-wan?” he asked. “Do you really want Anakin dead?”
No, he didn't. Even though Anakin had turned into the very thing you had all devoted your lives to destroy; Murderers, traitors, the sith. Despite it all, you knew Obi-wan still loved him. He loved the child he basically raised, his little brother.
And so help the Maker you did too.
“Where were you? While he was killing my friends?” Reva asked desperately. “Why didn't you stop him? He was your Padawan!”
“Because he wasn't there.” you snapped. “He wasn't there, Reva. But I was.”
“How do you know my name?” she asked wearily.
“You’d be surprised how weak the mind becomes when you let emotions take over, Reva.” you whispered, knowing the truth of your statement all too well. “He was on a mission on Utapau and I was supposed to go with him but the Jedi council had to take care of  Palpatine so I was tasked to stay at the temple with the younglings and help teach and watch over them. I sensed Anakin there and I thought he was waiting for the council to come back like Mace Windu had instructed him so I ignored his presence, then Order 66 happened and I tried saving as many kids as possible but I was outmanned.” You took a shuddering breath. “So If you're going to blame anyone, blame me for not doing more that night not Obi-wan.”
You pressed your hand onto the metal, and stepped closer.
“Listen to us, Reva. Let us help you.”
“I don't need your help.” she spoke dangerously low, enunciating each word. “I. Don't. Need. Anyone.”
“You won't stop him alone.” Obi-wan replied.
“You have no idea what I've done alone.”
A red lightsaber crackled loudly as it came through the metal, you had just enough time to yank Obi-wan back but not without the red blade grazing your thigh. You let out a pained shout and stumbled back, your hand hovering over the new hole created in your pants that showed angry red and already blistering skin.
Obi-wan pulled you behind him once the metal you helped welded to the door not to long ago fall to the ground as Reva cut a large hole out. The doors open to reveal a very pissed off Reva and a battalion of stormtroopers. Obi-wan reacted fast, swiftly force pushing her back far enough she was in the middle of the dirt area outside, the blaster shots rang out immediately after that ignoring the burn on your leg you pulled out your lightsaber and deflected a couple shots.
“Fall back to second position!” you shouted over the noise.
You and Obi-wan focused on defense, using most of your focus to deflect blaster shots and pushing back on the stormtroopers who invaded the small room, while the others behind you focused on taking out as many troopers as possible.
The imperial forces were far much stronger than your little band of rebels, the more they swarmed, the more people dropped dead, and the further they pushed you back.
“GO! GO! GO!” you shouted with Tala, directing the others to retreat as safely as possible.
“No mercy! Seal them in!” Reva yelled.
You watched Obi-wan come to help a woman who fell beside you as you moved in front of them, deflecting blaster shots left and right until he was able to drag her back to safety. Ned-B was at the front, his large metal form providing a makeshift shield as he provided additional defense by shooting stormtroopers you and Tala couldn't hit.
The scream of pain Tala let out pulled you from the focus you had, her body thumping on the ground.
“Tala!” You and Obi-wan shouted.
“Wipe them out!” Reva commanded.
You limped back as Revas’s forces pushed harder than before, not allowing you to go to aid Tala. The only thing you and Obi-wan were able to do was frantically fight off the troopers as Ned-B hit the ground in front of Tala.
“Come on, Tala!” You shouted. “Hold on just a little bit longer!”
You stabbed a trooper in the chest, kicking your injured leg up and slamming your foot in their chest. They stumbled backward into another trooper as Obi-wan shoved his lightsaber through both of them. When you looked at Tala again you didn't realize how far the two of you were shoved back.
Tala looked at the both of you, eyes teary and wide with fear as she raised her arm. She raised her arm and you took notice of the thermal detonator in her grip.
“Go!” she shouted as she raised her other arm, holding a blaster.
“No!” You screamed as she shot her blaster, the shot hitting the control panel perfectly.
As the doors began to close she smiled sadly at the both of you, a few tears falling from her eyes.
“May the force be with you.”
Before you couldn't even respond or act, the door closed, and a loud explosion followed soon after.
“Tala!?” you shouted. Gimping over to the doors, you dropped your lightsaber and wedged your fingers in the small crack of the doors. Grunting as you tried to pull them apart, but to no avail the doors didn’t budge.
“Dank farnik!” you cursed slamming your hands on the metal as your frustration grew. You felt an arm go under your arms, a supportive makeshift crutch as you were pulled back from the doors where your friend laid just behind.
“The doors are closing, come on.” Obi-wan said, force pulling your saber off the ground as he guided the both of you to where the others were. Once the both of you made it on the other side you both slumped against the wall, desperately trying to catch your breaths from your heaving chest.
“Please tell me we're close.” Roken asked Haja.
“Leia, you close?” Haja called up at the vent.
“Working on it!” the littles girl's voice piped.
Obi-wan looking around, a crestfallen look burrowed into the fineline features of his face. You knew that looked far too well.
Defeat.
“What's wrong, what is it?” Roken pestred.
“It's over.” Obi-wan breathed out and you both turned to Roken.
“We’re going back.” Obi-wan said, but Roken shoved him back.
“You can't quit! I fought for too long, you can't just throw that away!” Roken yelled. “It won't make a difference, they want all of us.”
“Vader wants the both of us.” You interjected firmly.
“If you surrender, she died for nothing!” he spat. “He’ll keep coming.”
“That's why we have to stop him!”
Haja stepped forward concerned.
“You're going to fight him?”
“He expects us to surrender, he knows we’ll do anything we can to protect these people.” Obi-wan said, pointing to the crowd.
“You'll be on your own.”
“No,” Obi-wan said walking up to Haja, pulling out his blaster, lightsaber, and holoprojector Bail gave him. “I have her,” he said, referring to you. “Look out for Leia, will you?”
You tossed Haja your lightsaber as well.
“Haja, you protect that little girl's life like it was your own.” you demanded.
Roken looked at the two of you in disbelief.
“Want to tell me how you guys are going to fight without a weapon.”
“There are other ways to fight.” Obi-wan stated.
🖾
Once the doors opened in front of you, you and Obi-wan raised your hands in surrender and walked out slowly as two stormtroopers seized the both of you. Each grabbing your wrists and pinning them behind your backs as they shoved you forward. You gritted your teeth as the air hit the severe burn just right on the singed skin.
As the two stormtroopers guided you to Reva, you kept sharing glances with Obi-wan. Providing each other with a silent comfort from the unknown that awaits outside.
When the outside doors opened, you squinted at the brightness compared to the dark caves from inside. When your eyes adjusted to the light you saw Reva pacing back and forth axiosuly, but stopped when she saw the two of you emerge. The stormtroopers pointed their blasters at you as you were led right in front of Reva, her eyes lit up dangerously as she raised her arms like she was summoning something.
“Inform Lord Vader, The Kenobi’s are ours.” she said smugly. She gave the troopers a single nod and both you and Obi-wan were shoved to the ground on your knees. The uneven ground digging uncomfortably into your knees as you looked up at Reva with a glare and a hard reset jaw.
“He's on his way.” Reva said. “You're going to die soon.”
“You're not bringing him to us.” you whispered.
“We’re bringing him to you.” Obi-wan finished slowly. “This isn't over yet.”
Revas small smile dropped as she leaned down in front of Obi-wan, her dark brown eyes boring into Obi-wans.
“There are families back there. Children. Are you going to let him do it again? What did he do to you?” Obi-wan asked.
“We could end this, Reva. together.” You pleaded. “Don’t let him take another child's life.”
Reva shuffled on her feet and looked away, her eyes avoiding the both of you.
“What makes you think he won't see it coming”
“Because all he’ll see is me.” Obi-wan said.
Which was the truth, although Anakin had his eyes set on you, especially after your fight with him on Mapuzo but most of his rage was directed at Obi-wan and the fact he was the reason Anakin was now derformed and disabled due to their battle on Mustafar. He wanted revenge so badly you could almost taste his anger for Obi-wan whenever he was near.
Reva did not respond, just simply walking away back to her original place by the stormtroopers and turned. He raised her arm and gestured to the both of you and you felt gloved hands grab your wrist again and yank you off the ground. You casted Reva one last look before you walked back into the caves.
As soon as the doors closed, you shoved your weight back as far as you could, making the stormtrooper stumble back into the wall.  The force from your movement made the grip around the now tender leather friction burns around your wrist loose end grabbing the blaster on their hip and you shot him in the head.
Obi-wan seemed to have half the same idea as you, right when you looked over at him the stormtrooper holding him was now on the ground with the smoke from a blaster shot seeping from the hole in it's chest.
When you smacked the control panel to the landing pad open and saw the dust red hushed sky above as you and Obi-wan ran in, you almost shouted in glee. Roken spotted you and nodded.
“Everythings all set!”
You looked to your left and saw Leia coming down the letter, you dragged Obi-wan with you and kneeled on the ground clumpys, avoiding putting more weight than usual on your bad leg.
“Leia!” Obi-wan exclaimed.
She turned around and smiled at the two of you and jumped into both of your arms, both of you and Obi-wan's arms wrapping around her and meeting on the center of her back.
“Well done!” You beamed, pulling away slightly.
Leia's eyes looked around for a moment before they landed back on Obi-wan.
“Where's Tala?”
The proud smile on your face fell as you focused on the ground, you chewed on the side of your cheek.
“I'm sorry sweet girl, she didn't make it.” you whispered.
Obi-wan picked Leia up, and then helped her up from the ground.
“Come on, we have to get to the transport.”
🖾
You sensed him before you even saw him enter as you watched closely through the tiny slits on the small ship sitting behind the main transport. The menacing wave of anger and pain washing over you like a bucket of ice water through the force. When Obi-wan told you the plan to hide behind the mainship while Anakin came through seemed almost foolish, hiding in plain sight from a revenge seeking sith lord?
 you trusted Obi-wan's judgment completely.
The sound of the main transport taking off stalled loudly, as Anakin walked in. His hand strained as he forced down the approximately 200,000 ton ship down back to the ground. Your jaw drops slightly as the sound of metal ripping apart from the ship.
“Now!” Obi-wan commanded.
The ship everyone was on shot up in the making hold on to Leia tightly as you took off, not having enough room for everyone to buckle in had created a small wave of people stumbling clumsy.
You guided Leia over to where Obi-wan was and sat on the arm of his chair so Leia could sit comfortably. Your gaze went to the burn on your thigh and you winced at the now greenish substance oozing from the blisters already formed.
Just once, you wanted to do the skill your master tried so hard to teach you. Now that she was gone you wanted to make her proud.
Your hands hovered over the wound and you took a calming breath, closing your eyes. Focusing on the force around you, you guided it to the wound and held it there. Slowly you could feel it trickle over you, the skin mending together and forming a protective scab over it.
You panted at the amount of focus it drained from you before you slumped over from exhaustion and used the last of your energy to place a firm hand on Obi-wan's shoulder so you didn't fall on him. How Stass managed to do this almost daily will forever be a mystery because you felt like you were going to pass out.
“Y/n?” Obi-wan asked worriedly and you tilted your head at the noise as he dragged you in his lap, your body laying limp in his arms as you chuckled weakly.
“Baby? Whats wrong?” Obi-wan asked frantically, you were so exhausted and drained from barely healing a lousy burn it didn't even process how similar you looked to Padme the night she died. Shaky breaths, a slight smile, and barely able to keep your eyes open.
But Obi-wan did.
“I did it. My thigh, muscles heal. tired” you slurred heavily. “Tell Stass I did it.”
You passed out before you heard Obi-wan curse in relief and press his forehead against yours, holding you close.
🖾
The twinge in your hip was the first thing you noticed when you woke up, the second was Obi-wan's warm hand cradling your head against your chest.
‘Oh yeah’ you thought clearly as you opened your eyes, reamebing why you were curled up like this in the first place.
“Our hyperdrive is down, and they're right behind us.” Roken familiar voice spoke quietly.
You turned your head at that but Obi-wan's hand suddenly gripped you hard enough  you winced. Looking up at Obi-wan in confusion, you frowned at his scared face and placed your hand on his heart and could feel the his heart skip a beat.
“Obi-wan, what's wrong?” you questioned, your mind was too fuzzy with sleep and the strenuous work you just put your mind through you could feel a faint wave of fear, anger, and something savage.
That last emotion wasn't Obi-wan’s.
You and Obi-wan looked at Leia who stared back with the same amount of fear in the two of you held.
“Are you okay Obi-wan?” Roken asked.
Obi-wan seemed to come back to the present slightly, his tone distracted but he glanced at Roken and nodded.
“Yes, Thank you Roken.”
He gave you a worried look but relented and left you alone, you glanced at Leia and gave her a comforting smile.
“We’re okay, I promise. Go see if anyone needs help with anything and I'll meet up with you in a moment.”
Leia nodded and hopped off her seat and went to a small group of children. You turned back to Obi-wan who still had his hand gripping you tightly.
“Obi-wan,” you placed a hand on his chin and made him look you in the eyes. “Come back to me.”
This wasn't the first time he had dissociated like this with you, long nights in the caves he would wake up from a nightmare and his mind would shut down, a natural response to the unfair amount of trauma he had experienced.
You took deep breaths and guided him through it, your hand rubbing up and down his shoulder to help ground him. Eventually he checked back in and looked at you, his grip finally easing up.
“Whatever we just felt, we’ll figure it out.” you promised. “We always do.”
He nodded silently.
“Now can you let me go? As much as I love you holding me I feel like my hip is going to break in this position.” you chuckled.
Obi-wan raised his arms and you uncurled yourself out of his lap and stood up, shaking the leg that fell asleep gently. As you stretched out your neck and back you felt Obi-wan's warm calloused hand graze the apex of your thigh, where the much improved burn was.
“I didn't think it was going to work if i'm being honest, quite unfair that I finally managed to force heal with Stass isn't here to see it.” you said bittersweetly, sitting next to Obi-wan now.
“She would be proud.” He patted your knee as you gave a weak chuckle.
“I hope so.”
An explosion shook the ship slightly, the dim lights above you flickering before returning to normal before you could relax again a second explosion came. Roken came around the corner and pointed at Sully.
“Hyperdrive almost ready, move all power to rear shields.”
That comment made you furrow your brow in concern, if hyperdrive was almost ready it would be more work to change power gears to focus on the rear shields than to leave it until it was done. Obi-wan gave you a look and it seemed he was thinking the same thing as you.
“We’ll head to Tessen and get you out from there.” Roken said.
Standing up you headed over to Roken, arms crossed over your chest as you looked at him already knowing the answer to your question.
“We’re not gonna make it to Tessen, are we?”
“Motivators shot, power couplings are bad. I'm working on it but that shield isn't going to last forever.”
“How much time do you need?” Obi-wan asked.
Another explosion rattled the ship and the three of you looked at the roof as the lights flickered out again.
“More than we have.” Roken sighed before he went to help one of the men in control. You ran an anxious hand through your hair and looked up at Obi-wan.
“You thinking what I'm thinking?” you asked and Obi-wan sighed before nodding.
“Yeah, I am.” he looked at Leia, who was comforting a mother and child with Lola. “How do you think she’ll take it?”
Resting your chin on your hand you snorted.
“Maker, I'm not sure.”

padawan lost & post Order 66
Tumblr media
SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP bc in TCW after Ahsoka returns from her ordeal of being alone and hunted in Padawan Lost she says in utmost gratitude to Anakin:
"When I was out there, alone, all I had were the lessons you taught me, and not only was I able to stay alive, but I was able to keep others alive, too."
ugh it is just sooooo beautiful and painful because she bowed to him, so reverent of her master. and YEARS later, when she is Fulcrum in Rebels... her sentiment still applied exactly.
Because of the lessons Anakin Skywalker taught her she was able to keep thousands of rebels alive.
She was yet again out there, alone, but could keep herself alive and others alive in the Purge (another hunt) ... because of what she learned from Anakin.
she never stops loving Anakin and always holds him in the highest regard. her devotion to him is gutwrenchingly beautiful honestly. pure. just like Luke's.
Padawan Lost parallels the post Order-66 period of Ahsoka's life so much.

Elysium
“Elysium”
The Naberrie lake house was an idyllic place to raise a family. A hidden gem surrounded by water and magnificent plants and trees, in a remote village of the beautiful Naboo. Obi-Wan Kenobi found himself in peace as it happened each time he went there. He felt home and he was blessed to know that the Naberrie family was safe, happy and…
PUM!!
“LEIA!!!”
A realm of chaos too.
“ANAKIN! Just stop teaching our daughter how to built a ship in her room for God’s sake!!!!”, screamed Padme Amidala Naberrie from the spot in the garden where she was painting calmly along Luke.
Obi-Wan smiled to himself. Even if they had changed names to not catch too much unwanted attention, it was pretty obvious that Luke and Leia Naberrie were Anakin’s children. Stong, chaotic, passionate, fascinating and.. a mess.
He walked to the spot where Padme was teaching Luke how to paint when both of them realised he was there. Luke knew first. He could feel the Force strongly and he always knew when Obi-Wan was close by.
“Uncle Ben”, said Luke happily as he ran to his open arms.
He caught the kid in his arms and hugged him. Then, he looked at his 5 years old face. He looked exactly as Anakin as a child. Fortunately, he seemed more quiet, more similar to her mother in that way. And it seemed, he also learnt a bit from himself. He was indeed his uncle and he visited them every week, sometimes, he even stayed for months.
“Master Kenobi”, said Padme with her serious voice. Then, she laughed and Obi-Wan looked at her in awe. She looked so much young than those terrible years of war and fights.
Sometimes Obi-Wan forgot how very young those two have been. Anakin was only 23 when he had to fight against Palpatine. His padawan, his little brother fought with all his strenght saving everyone that day. Anakin Skywalker was only 23 when he ended the sith and brought the light to the galaxy. And Padme Amidala was only 27 when she gave birth just after defending herself from some clones that tried to attack her. How she managed to do that while in pain, only God knows.
The thing was that Anakin grow old quickly after that day. He looked ten year older than his wife. He lost a lot of life energy saving the galaxy from the sith, indeed he almost died. He still remembers Master Yoda bringing Anaking to life in his own trembling arms. He had been in shock, unable to help his brother after seeing him kill Palpatine, he had thought his padawan, his dear brother was dead. But he wasn’t.
God, he was blessed that day and everyday afterwards.
“Milady”, Obi-Wan bowed at her.
She hugged him as she continued laughing.
Luke didn’t let go of his arms.
Nor that he was thinking of letting go of him anytime soon.
He adored Luke so much.
Padme sat again on the soft grass, caressing her long hair and staring at the lake.
“How long are you gonna stay?”, she asked as she continued painting, “Luke, aren’t you going to show uncle Ben what you painted for him, my darling?
“You painted something for me?”, he asked to Luke.
“Of course I did”, he answered just as Anakin used to do.
Padme laughed again and he put the boy in her arms. He kneeled in front of Luke’s painting.
It was his lightsaber and Anakin’s , side by side.
He smiled.
“You’re so good, my boy”, he smiled to Luke, “ You paint so much better than your father used to when he was a child, you know?”
“Its’ for you, Ben”, said Luke, a bit sleepy.
Padme caressed Luke’s hair until the little child fell asleep.
“He’s in Leia’s room”, she said smiling
He bowed at her one last time
“Oh come’on, go to him, you know you’re dying to see him and so is he”, she smiled sweetly at him.
……………………………
Anakin Skywalker, or Anakin Naberrie these days, have lost more than a few years of youth fighting against Palpatine. He lost the feeling of both his legs, so his young brother had to live in a weelchair for the rest of his days. It seemed it didn’t make him angry, just a bit nostalgic about his time as a warrior and pilot.
Obi-Wan regreted it everyday. If he could exchange their places, he would. He would give his last breath so Anakin could breath a second longer. He would give him his legs and his whole body if he ever needed one.
“Anakin”, he said knocking slightly at Leia’s door.
Leia and Anakin were… doing some sort of dance with their arms. Rap or something like that.
“Ts… Ts.. You are the star and I’m just a peasant.. Ts.. ts..”, sang Anakin as Leia danced along his father, both of them sitting on the floor.
“It seems to me you’re unable to build your daughter’s new bed, aren’t you?”, he teased his student.
Anakin looked at him, smiling funny with shiny blue eyes. “Ocean eyes” had once said Padme, the same eyes Luke and Leia inherited.
“Master”
“Padawan”
They both looked at each other. Then, they bursted into laughing. He went to Anakin and hugged him tightly, he kissed his head and he caressed the golden, a bit grey, long hair of his brother.
“How are you doing? Want some help?”, he asked as he sat beside him.
Leia ran to his arms then, hugging him and whispering how much they have missed him.
“You think you can do a child bed with.. the shape of a royal ship, old man?”, asked Anakin as he looked confused at some instructions.
“I think you’re looking at them.. upside down, daddy”
Obi-Wan laughed hard and Leia smiled at them.
Anakin sighed, laying down with his eyes closed.
“Who do you think build your bed when you were a child, brother?”, he asked Anakin as he took some pieces of the bed and started to glue some of them.
“I had a bed with ship form as a child?”, asked Anakin.
Sometimes he reminded him of a puppy. Innocent, naive and childish. And he loves him so much. More than anything else in the galaxy, along with his children.
“Of course you did. Your whole room was like a ship. Your ceiling full of stars and distant planets. The room of a true pilot. I built it of course. I wasn’t gonna ask Mace or Yoda. They would say it’s attachment. Not that they think that way anymore”, he said smiling at Anakin and Leia who stared at him as they usually did when he started to tell a story, “It amazes me, though, that the best pilot in the entire galaxy can’t build a bed”
“It’s not so easy, master!”, said Anakin as Leia decided to sit on his chest.
Obi-Wan looked at them. Leia looked exactly as Padme although her character was… in the middle. Also, she inherited from her mother….
“I’m gonna continue doing my budget for the extraordinary session for my planet”, said the little girl as she got up.
Anakin and him stared at each other in shock.
“Your what?”, asked Anakin
“My budget for my planet. Daddy, don’t you know what a budget is?? Its..”
“Don’t look at me like that Obi, the one obsessed with politics is her mother, not me”, said Anakin as he shook his head, “Not only one politician in my house, but two. My luck”
“It could be worse”, he said as he saw Leia writing down her “speech” as she vocalised each word carefully. She saw them looking at ther, so she got up and went to other room, chanting her speech.
“Amazing”, said Obiwan as he looked still at where she had been just a moment ago
“You enjoy that my children and wife torture me, Obiwan. You’re enjoying it too much”
“Do I need to remind you that I raised you?”, he asked laughing at Anakin, “ Once, you literally, blew a ship when you were 10. I was so scared you had hurt yourself that it took me several minutes to realise you were standing there like a king, smiling because you haven blown a royal ship. Which cost me..”
“I know, I know..”
“And there was another time you…”
“I get it, Obi-Wan, I get it”, said Anakin as he crawled to lay next to Obi-wan, the young man put his head on his lap as he used to do as a child and teenager, “I missed it. I miss flying”
“I know, dear heart”, he said as he looked at his brother’s face. “But what if I told you… I changed a few things in my ship so you can pilot it safely?”
Anakin almost jumped at that.
“You didn’t!!!!!”, shouted Anakin as his eyes shone with happiness.
“I did”, he repeated as he continued building Leia’s new bed.
“PADS!!!!! KIDSSSSS”!!!!! LOOK AT WHAT OBI DID!!!!”
Obi-wan laughed as the whole family reunited in the room, yelling with happiness as he told them how he changed his ship so it could be anakin’s ship.
After a while, Padme went away to help her maids to make dinner. While Anakin and Obi-Wan continued building Leia’s bed.
Obviously, both ended up falling asleep.
When Padme went to look for them, she didn’t have the heart to wake them up, so she took a picture of both of them sleeping, smiling.
Master and padawan
Brothers.

Behind the mask - part five
part one
Your arrival in Dagobah was easy and you all quickly settled into life on the swamp planet. Anakin and Obi-Wan built huts for you all. You and Anakin shared one with Luke. Though you had told him you were not his mother through time he had grown to call you mum. It made Anakin’s heart swell when he saw you hold the boy on your knee at meal times.
Slowly as time passed more and more of the Jedi began travelling to you. Lost Padawan from the reaches of the galaxy. Jedi slipped out of their hiding spots to meet the ones who gave a new strength to the force.
Night had fallen over the swamp and you had all retreated back from training to the mess hall, built high amongst the trees. Two men played their instruments in joyful tune. Dancing began on one side of the room. You sat at a table, a drink in hand watching the frivolity. Even Anakin appeared happier, standing alongside the other Jedi. Luke came running over to you.
“Mum, Master Yoda is taking us all for night training.” You smiled and nodded, letting him run off with the other younglings. Anakin noticed him disappear, excused himself from the other men and stalked toward you. He took your hand in his.
“Shall we head in for the night?” He gives you a smile you haven’t seen for a long time. Nodding you allow him to lead you back to your house.
“This planet has been good for you.” You say, watching him drop his shirt on the back of the chair.
“No, you are good for me. y/n, I was always so blind, so obsessed with a future I thought I had to create that I missed exactly what I needed. I kept you tied to me but never let myself fall. That day when I gave you the heart and we kissed for the first time, I knew then that if you wanted it I would burn the galaxy for you. So I tried to hide it, and used you in the worst ways. Now, now we are here and I have nothing to hold me back or stop me from feeling everything that has been screaming to break out of me. I love you y/n and I’m not frightened of it anymore.”
Feeling bolder than normal you swept across the room and drew him down into a kiss. A kiss that washed all your emotions into him. Anakin wrapped his arms around you, lifting you up against him and moving to the bed. In the months you had been on the planet there had been only occasional kisses between you, but this kiss was different. This kiss was hard and fast, passionate and full of excitement. Anakin laid you down on the bed, lifting himself above you but keeping his weight from crushing you. His kisses moved from your lips down to your neck, you sigh as pleasure ripples through your body. It felt like this was your first time. Yes you had slept with Vader many times, but they had been rough and submissive. Here, now with Anakin it was gentle, new. Your skin burned under his touch.
"I love you." He whispered against your shoulder.
"I love you too, Ani." You reply, running your fingers through his hair.
His eyes came up to look into yours, concern painted over his scrunched eyebrows.
"Is this okay? Are you alright with this?" He had never asked for consent before. You nod. "Say it." He commands, no begs.
"It's okay, I want this, Ani." You whisper into his ear.
His lips attached themselves to your shoulder once more as he fumbled with the clasp of your top, before sliding it down your arms and letting it drop to the floor. Anakin quickly broke away to lift his own shirt off before pressing his hot chest against yours and kissing you deeply. You ran your hands over his back, feeling the muscles below the skin. He sighed.
"I wish I was brave enough to love you back then, when you-" he swallowed the gathering saliva, his eyes begging you for something.
"Just be brave enough to love me now." You say.
"I'll do more than that." He lifts you into his arms and lays you on the bed, climbing on beside you. His lips never leave yours as he knees your breast with his hand. Instinctively your hips buck into his as your arousal builds. His smiles as he moves down sliding his tongue over your nipples, one at a time, till they are standing erect.
"You are so perfect," he says against the underside of one breast. His flesh hand moves down stopping at the lightsabre scare. He stops and looks at it. A new guilt building in his stomach. Feeling it you take his hand and press it against the scar.
"This shows that you wanted me alive. You did what you had to do to get me out and keep me alive." You try to reassure him.
"But it was for selfish reasons. I just wanted something for me, I didn't think about you." Tears pricked at his eyes.
"Ani, please, we'll talk about that later." You say, moving his hand away from the scar, down your stomach to the waistband of your trousers. His Adam's apple bobbs in his throat and he slid his fingers inside. He racked his fingertips into the flesh of your thigh first, kissing you hard. You squirm, tilting your hips and opening your legs slightly. Anakin smiled against your lips as he slides his middle finger through your hot folds, skimming over your clit to your entrance. Dipping inside for a second he collects your wetness before returning to trace circles on your nerve bundle. Your hips buck and your breath stops for a moment at his touch. He is soft and it's agonising.
"Ani." Your voice comes out as a whimper, he swaps his finger for his thumb and return his digit to your entrance, sliding inside and curling. Curse words leave you and you feel it all, a second finger then a third. You are close to release and he knows it. He pulls his hand from your trousers and you moan. He laughs, sitting back to pull your clothes away, leaving you naked. Your heart beats fast,  the two of you had never been so intimate. Anakin blows on your clit before sliding his fingers back inside you, one, two then three before placing a flat tongue on your clit. He flicks his tongue over it and moves his fingers stimulating every part of your sex. His metal hand reached up to squeeze your breast and you clutched the bedsheets. Everything was building quickly, a feeling you knew but hardly experienced. Like a damn bursting your release comes and you convulse against the aftershocks. He licks you as you ride out your orgasim. When it became too much you pulled him to you, kissing him, uncaring that you could taste yourself on his lips. Your hands struggle to push at his trousers. With a smile he stands up and drops them. You take hold of his erect penis swiftly. He has to hold the wall as pleasure courses through him.
"Y/n" he lets out a moan. Batting your hand away, he cannot take it anymore he needs to be inside you to feel your heat. Anakin slides between your legs, hitching one over his hips, lines himself up with you but stills. Your eyes meet his, hands holding his arms.
"You're still okay?" He asks.
"Yes." You blink up at him, anticipation captured your body. His slides into you easily with the slick of your orgasim.
"Oh." He whispers, his forehead dropping to yours as he bottoms out inside you. "You feel so good." His senses are overloading, feeling every part of you clenching around him. Sex before had been a means of power and control with you. With Padme it was a job to be done. But here now with you, this was making love, truly and wholey. He pressed open mouthed kisses to your lips, your neck, little nips on your shoulder as he moved slowly back and forth.
There is a turmoil playing out in his mind and you sense it. Using the force to your advantage you spin both of you round so he is lying and you straddle his hips. You move and buck and slide up and down, chasing your own end knowing he would follow close behind you.
Being so vulnerable to each opened you both up and your minds connected, you knew exactly how he wanted you to move. His thumb found your clit once more and you found yourself holding onto his chest as you shook with pleasure. A few pumps more into you and Anakin fell apart below you. His head was thrown back against the pillows as he spilled inside you. He pulls you down to him, letting his cock slip out of you and held you against him.
"We definitely should have done that sooner." You say.
"That would have been enough to keep me beside you." He panted.
The next day as you all lined up for breakfast, Obi-Wan leaned into his friend. "The good side does have its perks." He grins knowingly and Anakin understands they had shifted the force with their love.
—--
You would never understand how time could passed by you all so quickly. Luke was turning nineteen and you were setting up for a party. He would be going through the Jedi trials alongside Cal Kestiss and a few others. You stood in your home cradling a small infant in your arms, she looked up at you with big blue eyes that she inherited from her father.
"Y/n?"
"Shhh." You held.a finger to your mouth looking back at Anakin. With a smile.on your face you placed the baby in the cot and stepped over to him.
"What is it?" You ask after he kisses you. Anakin hands you a communicator.
"It's Leia, she is coming here." Obi-Wan and you had told Anakin and Luke of Leia's existence around six months after arriving on Dagobah. Everyone has agreed that it would be safer for her to stay with the Organa's for the time being. Though they would occasionally risk communications with her.
"She says she wants to be with her real family for this birthday." Every word was filled with excitement and nerves.
"That's wonderful. I can't wait to meet her." You giggle pulling him close to you.
"There is just one problem. My dream."
You sigh, knowing how hard he tried to ignore the visions.
"Her coming here, it means the end is coming."
